Hey, yanno how Climate Change is a real thing that is tangibly, at this moment, affecting our world?
Well it turns out, the wealthy and their investment firms have been seeing the mounting evidence that oil companies have had for decades and are slowly starting to think more long-term about their portfolios in the face of rising sea levels, more extreme weather, and the myriad of ways climate crises are affecting...well. Everything. Maybe this means they invest more into sustainability, green energy, building more resilient infrastructure, or carbon offsets. Some of it, of course, is simple corporate greenwashing, but there are those that are taking this trend and packaging it into something called ESG (Environmental, Social, and corporate Governance).
Now some people would say this is predictable, even sensible. Just the good ol’ Free Market(tm) rationally responding to market forces and a changing world.
But those people would be fools! Insidious fools! For conservative sorcerers have come out with a new cursed phrase to explain this new market trend: Woke Investing.
What makes this investing “woke?” Well, much like how conservatives normally flounder when trying to define a word they stole from black people, “Woke Investing” essentially just means any kind of capital investment that they, the fossil fuel billionaire class and their sycophants, don’t personally profit from.
One of these aforementioned sycophants is Andy Puzder, conservative commentator, fellow at The Heritage Foundation, and former fast-food CEO. He calls this kind of so-called woke investing “socialism in sheep’s clothing,” further explaining in leaked audio of a closed-door meeting:
“My father's generation's challenge was the Nazis, who, by the way, were, of course, very proud socialists[citation fucking needed]. The challenge of my generation was the communists, who were, of course, very committed socialists. The challenge of your generation is ESG investing, and it's more insidious than communism or the Nazis.”(source)
You heard it here first, folks. Not investing as much in fossil fuels is more insidious than the Third Fucking Reich.
As usual, the Heritage Foundation is putting their petro-chemical donor’s money where their mouth is. Bills are being proposed to blacklist banks that don’t invest in key state industries, such as West Virginia coal or Texas oil. Fourteen states have already passed bills to restrict ESG-type investing, with Florida Governor Ron “Bullies Kids for Wearing Masks” Desantis leading the charge.
In other words, Climate Denial has reached such a point that so-called Free Market Conservatives who claim to hate big government are trying to make it illegal for banks, investment firms, and financial institutions to make any financial decisions that acknowledges Climate Change is real.

so i'm like a somewhat casual young royals fan and the new season dropped yesterday and even though i haven't seen all of it yet, i have to say the best thing they've done this season is show that wilhelm is still steeped in the views of the monarchy and nobility and the highest class and that its difficult for him to make that ideological switch and acknowledge that it actually is on him to do something. i think the main fan perception was that wilhelm obviously knows what a difference he can make and that it's easy for him to become an advocate and switch up his views. i love that the show illustrates that in the end he is a part of the system and benefits from it and he genuinely can't see the true wrong with it. it makes for a better and more complex storyline for him and i love it.

Honestly I think it would do us all well to go back to kinda cringy feminism again for a little bit idk cause I think maybe for some people the discourse somehow circled back around to supporting sexism just rebranded or whatever so its more aesthetic
#personal#instead of progressing the discourse into idk more inclusion of women of color and trans women#it went in the direction of like glorifying women being stupid and romanticizing beauty standarts#also weird centering of men all over again in feminism and in general for some reason#remember in the early 2010s when emma watson was like obliterated for that 'he for she' campaign#because it prioritized men in feminist discourse and then thats the exact direction where things went later on (and where it is currently)#people care more abt like 'haha this is my golden retriever bf he drinks respect women juice!' than about actual women speaking abt feminis#like being a feminist isnt about social change and women prioritizing each other its abt how dudes are hot when they do the bare minimum!#also have you noticed the rise in lesbophobia both in the sense of persecution of lesbians themselves#and of lesbians relationships and culture which other wlw are also part of (its giving lavender menace)#and also remember how we had the me too movement and then immediately after#everyone still fell for a smear campaing against a victim of domestic abuse?#anyway i would really love to get back to basics of like women should support each other!#and beauty standarts overwhelmingly negatively affect women and girls!#and we still need to incentivize girls to seek out intellectual pursuits especially in STEM and leadership roles!#because we continue to be underpresented in those fields and the only way to enact change is to bring our perspectives to those areas#instead of asking politely for guys to throw us a bone!#also stop acting like its cringe to openly and vocally center and prioritize women in every sphere of our lives possible!#and also maybe go back to actively trying to do that! and considering that a good thing!??#because we're the ones who should have our backs most of all?? idk idk#also where are the teeth??#why is everyone so afraid of being angry now???#its like some people circled back to being afraid of being mistaken for man-hating or something#just for pointing out common sense aspects of oppression without adding an asterisk about how men suffer too!#i thought we all knew there is no such thing as reverse sexism!!!#idk!!!#and this isnt me condoning choice feminism many women are evil and actively work against their own interests#or antagonize other women to make themselves feel important such as terfs etc#but idk its like everyone internalized that 'well women can suck too' so hard that its become like#'*most* women suck and we dont even have to keep trying to empathize and prioritize each other and our issues anymore'

The former prime minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, was shot. It looks very serious.  Abe has always been very friendly towards Taiwan. The two countries are friendly allies. I hope everything will be alright.
Consider current world news, I hope people who aren’t familiar with Asia international politics can resist any improper jokes or making this whole situation all about the English-speaking world again (I don’t want to make any example, but, you know those kinds... If you want to joke about your own government that’s fantastic. It’s not necessary to bring every other countries with it.)

a boye whom'st loves to attack paper balls
#cats#nhgnhmmm.. yommy... paper favorite food#(I do not actually let him eat paper)#ALSO I'm still working on doing the poll adventure thing I've just had a lot going on. as usual. It's actually harder than#I initially thought to regularly find time to do a quick ms paint sketch and a small writing blurb#it's like even though it doesn't take extremely long it's still one of those things that is hard to carve out a little portion of the day#to do if your day is set up in a way not conducive to portion carving#BUT .. at least I have posted many drafts#as usual.. my style of like.. post nothing for 3 weeks then randomly post 25 things at once#NO idea why my brain works that way. it just does. it's easier#even though I know it's worse in terms of like. social media#the algorithms in most places prefer consistent steady uploads over time. not jarringly wavering between absence and hyper presence#then absence again. but .. alas...#Good to clear out a few drafts once in a while anyway. And I do really want to get back to scullptures and costumes. I stopped as much for#a while due to the pandemic (can't go to the bins anymore to get new supplies for costumes and stuff) as well as my worsened#health things/lack of energy and also my chest injury (so repetitive movements with my arms such as sitting in the same#position sculpting for 4 hours or changing clothes multiple times in quick succession etc. could flare it up) but obviously#none of those things are going to get better any time soon. so I should probably just try to do it here and there anyway. It's still not#safe to go to the bins. still having muscle problems. still low energy. But I could make it work maybe. I just feel bad having gotten out#of the habit when it is really fun stuff that I enjoy. Some things just get more difficult for me over time#But even like 3 sculptures and 10 costumes a year is better than 0 of any of those things. So. eh#I'm also just trying to clear out pictures still. My spring cleaning (which I do at the start of every new year instead of actual spring)#was kind of delayed this year due to me feeling sick and everything so even late into april I'm still working on the side at like orgnazing#all of the files on my computer. deleting things and backing up whatever I want to keep. clearing out photos.#editing and drafting (and maybe one day posting) old stuff form a while ago. etc. etc.#So any progress is good progress. I suppose.#ANYWAY.... a son... he gets very excited everytime he hears anyone anywhere crinkle up a piece of paper

Honestly, as much as a love the Gilded Age and glitz glamor of the wealth it shows...what has really caught my attention is the plotline unions and mills
I am once again starting my campaign for Hollywood to create a mini series based on the Progressive era
And I want it as dark, gritty, a realistic as possible.

Humanity Is Stupid & Contagious
Tumblr media
I wish humanity could just admit that we dont work as a species on this planet.
We dont work as a species period.
We dont.
As a species, we are social creatures.
Therefore, as macro as it gets, we are engineered in the Upside Down (our current "reality" aka "life") to social climb, to be competitive, to be political, to try to get ahead, to use force might and violence to win, to want to accumulate wealth social capital land resources assets, to want to be the best, to acquire power.
I want to be the only 7 star general other than Lord Washington.
I want to be Trump, The Art of the Deal.
I want to be Napoleon, Bezos, Cook & Elon.
I want to be Ford.
I want to be Bill Gates.
I want to be President.
I want to be Commander In Chief.
Everything bigger faster stronger.
The smartest.
VP.
CEO.
Clout privilege wealth social capital.
Starfucker.
Sucking dick for clout.
This is all embedded in the very fabric of the Upside Down but in the dreamscape we are naturally one and harmonious.
Everything is flipped upside down here in the Upside Down.
Our differences in the dreamscape -- and the dreamscape is made up of untold trillions of separate dreamscapes that make up a kaleidoscopic explosion of thoughts dream imagination love knowledge philosophy esotericism energy meditation -- are what created and creates unfolding ever evolving ever mutating (the real X-Men) DNA hybrid dualism but down here in the Upside Down, the differences are used to falsely create division, tear us apart, make us afraid, make us prejudge, make us hate, make us ostracize, haze, bully, assault, kill, rape, murder, beat, torture, ethnically cleanse, arrest, jail, mass graves, death camps, death squads, rape rooms, mass incarcerations, hangings, lynchings, beheadings, burnings at the stake, capital punishments, executions, make an example of, mass hysteria, scapegoats, fall guys, columbine shooters, false gods, false heros, false kings, false crowns, false idols, world religions aka cults, brainwashing, conditioning centers, reprogramming, human experimentation, cloning, DNA splicing, genetic mutations, lab experimentations, synthetic chemicals and toxins, lethal injections, the electric chair, drawn and quartered, dragged by horses, decapitations, slavery.
Its like, it just doesnt work.
Human nature is rewarded in the Upside Down for being cheap, dirty, low, cutting corners, being the fastest, quickest, least expensive, best technology, most scientifically advanced, most destructive weapons, most deadly chemical warfare, more black label projects, more government secrets, more undercover agents, more guns, Gatling, AK-47, multiple rounds, multiple clips, multiple magazines, rat a tat tat, more badges, more stripes, more chevrons, more ranks, more insignias, more titles, more letters before and after your name on LinkedIn, more zeros in your bank account, more friends on Facebook, more followers on Instagram, more views on TikTok, more retweets on Twitter, more subs on Youtube & Twitch.
More Napoleon Bonapartes, more let them eat cake, more off with their heads, more they dont want to work, more welfare queens, more get a job, more Funquishas and Watermelondras.
More campaigns, more slogans, more supermans.
We never learn from our collective atrocities.
Why would any time ever be different much less the next time?
What war did WWI stop?
WWII?
Korean War?
Vietnam War?
US Mexico War?
Hundred Years War?
Cold War?
Gulf War?
Operation Iraqi Freedom?
Holocaust?
Cultural Revolution?
Khmer Rouge?

9/11 inside job?
Napalm?
Nerve gas
Phosphorous?
Hiroshima & Nagasaki?
Atomic bomb?
D-Day?
10k dead Americans in Normandy?
666k dead in Civil War?
Weve never collectively as a species learned from any past war, atrocity, crime against humanity, war crime, genocide or ethnic cleansing.
Its been hundreds of thousands of years.
Why would anything ever change if it hasnt already?
The track record is abysmal and speaks for itself.
Why, as a species, do we blindly and ignorantly choose to continue to procreate, replicate and propagate our human race when the end result has always been untold human suffering?
There is no amount of joy that can cancel out the amount of suffering that has been needlessly caused and experienced in the Upside Down.
Its time to end the human experiment and we have not had a good run.
Millions upon millions killed, raped, starved, gassed, beaten, tortured, hazed, humiliated, mocked, imprisoned, jailed, assaulted, exterminated, exploited, traumatized, gaslit, intimidated, ethnically cleansed, used.
Abused, overworked, harrassed, trafficked, groomed, conditioned, brainwashed, broken, violated, fetishized, objectified, commodified, consumed, dehumanized, retconned, manipulated, overmedicalized, pathologized, drugged, indoctrinated, molested, institutionalized.
There is no amount of good, joy, happiness or anything else that can even come close to equaling out these endless and ongoing atrocities, forget cancelling them out.
Humanity is a virus that has been allowed to endlessly replicate itself and it has to stop.
We are causing catastrophic human suffering to our own species because we wont stop reproducing ourselves for no fucking reason at all.
Once you add in the ecocide, ecological and environmental destruction, hundreds of thousands of animal species that have been made extinct, climate change, climate crisis, climate emergency, deforestation, the destruction of rainforests, landfills, nuclear waste, oceanic pollution, overfishing, factory farming, industrial waste, toxins, pollutants, synthetic and lab made chemicals, GMOs, pesticides, overextraction of earths resources, raping & pillaging mother earth, sewage, food waste, fast fashion, big box retail, air pollution, air toxicity, non biodegradable waste taking tens of thousands of years to break down in landfills, oil spills, drilling for oil, coal, endless construction, endless Amazon warehouses, endless delivery drones, methane emissions from factory farming, greenhouse gas emissions, millions of cars clogging the highways...
The answer is we need to subtract the human race from the equation.
If all 7.8 billion of us currently alive on the planet made the conscious decision not to procreate, we could end all this suffering in this generation.
Weigh the reasons to procreate: continue bloodline and current family lineage, have a little mini-me, fullfill narcisstic fantasies of having a living breathing extension of your own ego, looking for something to give you your identity and a reason to live, looking for purpose, the social rewards that come with being a parent, the social pressures to procreate, making your mom & dad happy, keeping up with your friends that are popping out babies, an unexamined need and desire to fit in, unquestioningly accepting society's pronatalist stance and adopting it as your own without examining it, desire to create heirs, egotistical fantasy of living forever and trying to accomplish this by having children, wanting miniaturized versions of yourself who will endlessly kiss your ass stroke your ego and hero worship you, to build your own myth aura and mystique, narcisstic desire to be a matriarch/patriarch, societal insistence that feminity equates to motherhood, believing the lie that motherhood is a womans highest calling, believing the lie that not having children is selfish, succumbing without thinking to the non-stop societal programming, conditioning and brainwashing to procreate and create bodies for the capitalist machine, spouse is pressuring or demanding or coercing you to have kids, wanting to play dress up with your doll aka daughter, wanting to be an adult and parenthood is tied with adulthood in our society, unexamined fear of old age and dying alone and becoming old sick and infirm without children, believing the lie that you are incomplete and somehow defective as a woman until you shit a fetus out of your cervix, wanting to prove your worth and adopting parenthood as part of an ultracompetitive persona that can do and be and crush everything crossfit marathons pilates keto school grades corporate promotions salaries the house the car the spouse and now kids further bolsters your superman/superwoman persona, falling for the societally peddled lie that holidays are incomplete without little kids running around, incorrectly and inadequately trying to address childhood and generational trauma experienced in family while growing up by having your own kids vs doing the necessary self reflection, introspection, shadow & somatic work, reiki & therapy, wanting a daughter who is your BFF, wanting a child for nothing but fantasy & wish fulfillment, obsessive martydom complex leads to desire to martyr oneself by sublimating your identity, body, sexuality, career, income, social life and freedom for the all-consuming and obliterative identity of motherhood, desire for people to take you seriously, to compete with or keep up with siblings or best friends who already have kids, believing the carefully crafted and packaged lies that overly romanticize parenthood and wanting the Hallmark fantasy, slavishly following cultish and pathetic religious dictates and never questioning the religious indoctrination and brainwashing of your youth which commanded you to be fruitful and multiply, a desire to be respected through becoming a parent, a fear of appearing like an outsider if you are in a long term relationship or marriage for decades and never have kids, an irrational fear of missing out where you believe the propaganda that nothing is worse than reaching old age realizing you actually wanted kids and not being able to have them when in reality absolutely nothing is worse than having kids realizing you absolutely despise being a parent, regretting having them, being stuck with them for 18+ years and never being able to publicly voice your opinions although while quite commonplace are societally taboo especially from mothers who must always be docile, happy, pleasant, energetic, cheerful, full of vigor and most importantly never tired or complaining at all times.
Okay. Now, go reread this post and look at all the reasons not to procreate.
Like, its not close.
Humanity is stupid and contagious but you dont have to be.
End the endless cycle of human suffering.
Choose to not procreate.

oh boy the depression hole is deep and it is muddy
hahaha I fell into the classic trap! overidentify with your job and considering leaving it will trigger an existential crisis!!!!
#red said#i think it's really fucking happening#i got lunch with my work bff yesterday. she's seriously looking for her next thing.#2 other people in our 9 man team have told me in confidence they're looking elsewhere as well#the work bff is a team manager and she's like yeah I'm helping everyone buff up their CVs and think about what they want#and i. do not think my boss is coming back.#she's extended her mat leave by 2 months already. i think she stepped away and realised. rightly. there's more to life than this shit.#it's not that the organisation is downsizing or any of us are in danger of redundancy#but the vibe has changed big time. it's so much more corporate and less interested in lived experience.#i think the proportion of people in senior management who have even second hand experience with homelessness is shrinking#like the last time our CEO did frontline work was like 1990. and they're expanding the management team constantly#but they're all outside hires and not people who've done frontline or community work. they're the career charity worker types.#the only things keeping me are. i want to at least get to that initial union open meeting and get the ball rolling enough#that it might have a cat's chance in hell of happening without me#and i want to get gears turning in the EDI group to get a commitment a) to acknowledge that we have a whiteness problem#and b) i want to use the funding for LGBTQ inclusion work to kickstart a project where we convene a cross-sector working group#maybe quarterly. where people working in homelessness and social support can discuss best practise for trans inclusivity#in one of the sectors where trans people are most disadvantaged in seeking support#but like if i can get movement on those things I'm fucking gone. cause the bits of my job that are my actual job?#i am getting nothing out of it now

Big events in ableism in 2022:- worldwide efforts to sweep the COVID-19 pandemic under the rug whilst another 1.2 million people died, a cost of living crisis that left many disabled people unable to afford basic costs like food and energy bills, further demonstrations of how climate change will endanger disabled people's lives and the continuing impact of an inhumane and murderous welfare system in the UK.
What online ableism discourse chose to focus on in 2022 instead:- arguing with a union cat on Twitter over the right to exploit low-paid workers in companies that were never designed to serve our needs, making excuses for not reading beyond social media and why disabled people working for bomb factories is good actually.

re: that last reblog, i also need everyone on earth to stop automatically linking "mother who doesn't work outside the home" with affluence, or framing "staying home with the kids" as a choice that only the monied have privilege to make. this PEW write-up from 2014 has a lot of interesting comparisons regarding moms who don't work outside the home, and one finding is that (as of 2012), mothers who don't work outside the home who are married to men who work outside the home are five times as likely to live in poverty as mothers in that same partnership category who do work outside the home. they also found that overall, the overall rates of mothers who don't work outside the home were quite similar for hispanic and asian mothers, and also quite similar for black and white mothers, with hispanic and asian mothers being significantly more likely than black and white mothers not to work outside the home (although there's an interesting difference in how this breaks down between black and white mothers regarding whether they're married to men who work outside the home or in a different situation - black women married who work outside the home are much less likely than white women in that situation to work outside the home, while single black mothers are much more likely to work outside the home than single white mothers). they also found that rates of working outside the home rose with educational achievement, so that the more education a mother had, the more likely she was to work outside the home. that's all pretty suggestive. meanwhile, i can't find a study that looks at income directly other than this obnoxiously titled screed from a conservative think tank, which i will thus link with reluctance; found that mothers in the wealthiest income category were most likely not to work outside the home, and mothers in the poorest income category were second most likely not to work outside the home.
this makes a lot of sense if you think about for even five seconds questions like "who watches a poor woman's toddler while she is off making minimum wage [assuming she is not working under the table for even less] and where exactly does all the money to pay for this childcare come for all these poor women who are definitely working outside the home," and IMO the fact that it's 2022 and people are still assuming a stay at home mom is a privileged white woman lucky enough not to have to work [who better hope she likes her husband a lot because it's going to be fucking hell to reestablish her economic independence if she decides to leave, because money you don't make or inherit is not actually your money even if it's paying for your very nice house] is... i don't even know what to call it. i just need everyone to turn their brains on a little bit more.

Fashioning Consciousness: How Hip-Hop Influences Political Thought
Tumblr media
Introduction:
Welcome to our blog, where we explore the intersection of fashion, culture, and social consciousness. In this post, we delve into the captivating relationship between hip-hop and political thought. Hip-hop, as a powerful form of artistic expression, has long served as a platform for artists to voice their political views, shed light on social issues, and challenge the status quo. Join us as we embark on a journey to understand how hip-hop influences political thoughts, shaping conversations, and inspiring change through its influential presence in the fashion world.
A Catalyst for Social Commentary:
Hip-hop has consistently pushed boundaries and sparked conversations about political and social issues. From its early origins in marginalized communities, hip-hop artists have used their platform to shed light on racial inequality, police brutality, economic disparities, and other pressing concerns. Through their lyrics, fashion choices, and overall style, they challenge the status quo and offer a unique perspective on the world.
Artistic Expression as Political Resistance:
Hip-hop culture embodies a spirit of resistance against systemic oppression. Artists often use their music, fashion, and visual imagery to critique existing power structures and advocate for change. Fashion within the hip-hop community becomes a tool for self-expression, allowing individuals to challenge stereotypes, assert their identity, and make powerful political statements.
Hip-Hop Fashion: A Visual Language of Protest:
Hip-hop fashion is not just about style; it is a visual language that communicates political and social messages. From bold graphic tees to statement accessories, hip-hop clothing often incorporates symbols, slogans, and imagery that reflect resistance and activism. Artists and individuals within the hip-hop community use fashion as a means to visually express their political beliefs and ignite conversations.
Influence on Voter Engagement:
Hip-hop's influence extends beyond fashion and music; it has a profound impact on voter engagement and political activism. Artists have used their platforms to encourage voter registration, promote civic participation, and advocate for social justice causes. Hip-hop's connection to political thought has motivated young people, who are often the primary consumers of hip-hop culture, to become more politically aware and active.
The Power of Narratives and Storytelling:
Hip-hop has a unique ability to convey personal narratives and amplify marginalized voices. Artists use storytelling to share their experiences and shed light on the socio-political issues affecting their communities. By humanizing these stories, hip-hop challenges stereotypes and fosters empathy, creating a deeper understanding of the political struggles faced by marginalized populations.
Building Community and Social Movements:
Hip-hop has played a pivotal role in community building and the formation of social movements. Through collaborations, events, and grassroots initiatives, artists and fashion brands within the hip-hop sphere have united communities, amplified voices, and initiated positive change. Hip-hop fashion becomes a symbol of unity, solidarity, and collective action.
Conclusion:
Hip-hop's influence on political thought is undeniable. Through fashion, music, and cultural expression, hip-hop artists have become powerful advocates for social and political change. By embracing their platform, they challenge systemic inequalities, amplify marginalized voices, and inspire individuals to question and engage with political issues. Hip-hop fashion serves as a visual medium for political resistance and self-expression, allowing individuals to make bold statements and contribute to the broader conversation surrounding social justice. So, as you explore hip-hop clothing and embrace its unique style, remember the deep-rooted political legacy that accompanies it, and let your fashion choices become a symbol of conscious awareness and a catalyst for positive transformation.
