Women in Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan are facing significant challenges in their fight for survival and equality, yet some self-identified feminists, known as TERFs, do not acknowledge or support their struggle and revolution.
as an Iranian, I feel like I cannot stay quiet about this issue and must speak about it,
women in Iran have been abused, disrespected, and killed for many years and I hate how much fear I feel every day for my family, friends and all the women that live in this country with me. this shouldn't be the norm. we shouldn't feel fear every day of our lives, we should not be forced to wear hijab and we have the right to be treated way better than this.
My heart goes out to the family of Jîna ( Mahsa) Amini, a young girl who has done nothing wrong and has been merely killed just because a goddamn scarf wasn't around her head.
right now they've shut off the internet. in the city I live in the internet gets shut off every night around 7-8 pm and comes back up right around midnight or later in the day. during this time I've decided to watch the regular Iranian channels (IRIB TV) to see what they're speaking about and what they're saying is making my blood boil.
they've been editing clips of protestors on the street, making it look like they've been the violent ones while when you search for the video online, the full clips shows you that they were defending themselves against the morality police that were attacking them. they're lying right in front of our faces with no shame whatsoever. it's disgusting.
if you want to help in any way, please share as much as you can about this situation and use the #mahsaamini so more attention is brought up to this issue. this isn't a one-time thing that has happened, this has been happening for more than 40 years. it has to end.
in Iran, we all feel stuck. we feel suffocated. we cannot go outside without wearing something that hides all of our body, because we will be killed. we cannot go outside and openly be a part of the LGBTQ+, because we will be killed. we cannot even protest without many deaths happening along the way.
I'll always remember Hozier as a writer of protest songs and Swan Upon Leda has just strengthened that feeling. Lamenting the loss of an ancient land, its culture, and people due to illegitimate colonial occupation needs to be sung about more often because state-sponsored media routinely suppresses these brutalities, and imprisons whistleblowers and activists who dare bring the truth to light. I'm also in awe of how he tied the occupation of a country to the occupation of a body, the encroachment of sovereignty to the encroachment of reproductive autonomy. It's beautiful, profound, and heartbreaking all at once. I have never heard a person sing so tenderly about something so sadistic. It is a rare talent. I can't wait to hear what other treasures he has recorded for Unreal Unearth.
Revolution and decolonisation are eternal processes. Yet, I hope in this lifetime, childbearers reclaim their constitutional right to abortion. I hope women and other hijab wearers of Iran win their freedom. I hope I see a free Kashmir, a free Palestine, a free Ukraine, a free Tibet, and that all other occupied territories may see the walls of their open-air prisons demolished.
He is about to be executed for supporting women’s rights in Iran. So far, the Iranian Regime HAS suspended executions for people who have received enough attention internationally. Please sign this petition , it DOES make a difference. The more we share about Iran, the more we have a chance of saving someone’s life.
friendly reminder that if u don't feel comfortable talking about the genocide that's happening in iran rn in the city of zahedan and sanandaj and god knows which city next, just becuz the whole uprising started with the brave women of iran burning their scarves as a fuck u to the islamic regime for forcing literally every fucking thing on them in their lives ,hijab included, whilst providing them zero social equality and rights, and yet u fear to be canceled bcuz of possible "islamophobia", when ur actual phobia must be of this regime and their version of islam that they force upon people, u are not only ignoring them but also siding with the mullahs and regime as they're taking hundreds of other innocent young lives as i type this down;
be the voice of the voiceless!
ps: the islamic regime has enough support from most of ur governments, so please try to not be like ur representatives, thank u so much <3
The way the news about the morality police being shut down was simply the government's way of distracting people to make them stop paying attention but some people just believed it without doing any sort of research💀-
I thought we already got over the "don't believe everything you read on the Internet"
Especially not something related to human rights violations
SO i just had a chat with an iranian girl, she is very nice, polite and very supportive of ukraine! i had an impression she was a little apprehensive to tell she’s from iran, but i explained that we do see the difference between the islamic republic and the ordinary freedom-loving iranians. she said she’s lightly injured and she doesn’t have access to tumblr for god knows how long. i sent her screenshots of some posts here in support of the protests. people just go out there - prepared to die, angry, furious over executions, tortures and rapes. i am in awe with brave iranian women and i told her so! i stand with iran✊🏼
