If Seven have water bending powers, Six soul eating powers and Mono space-time powers what would Raincoat Girl powers would be

oOOOO see, I thought about this quite a bit for the past week. I don't think Raincoat girl's powers will come up in Channel Change, so I'll share my headcanon here.

Raincoat girl I've always called "Five" though I've considered calling her "Quinn" (or even "Cinc") sometimes to not be so obviously a number, kind of like Mono's naming scheme. But I don't think the name Quinn would stick with the fandom as well as "Five" would...

To me, Five would have the ability to change her size at will. (Typically shrink, but only when she gets more powerful later she will learn how to enlarge herself.) She may also have the ability the manipulate the sizes of objects, people, or animals around her.

My evidence: 1. "VERY LITTLE Nightmares" game title 2. The Nest is more like a giant doll house, and she's surrounded by children turned into dolls 3. Each collectible has something to do with the children's powers. She collects Jack-in-the-boxes; children's toys that had been made in France as little "Demon-in-the-boxes". A tiny puppet pops out to surprise/scare the person playing its music because typically, no one would expect a creature to be compressed in something so small.

Six is a soul eater. She can suck the souls out of adults for sustenance. She can suck the youth out of children, turning them into nomes so that she may remain immortal. She may have the ability to teleport through shadows. She may or may not also have the ability to create shadow proxy children?

Mono is a space-time manipulator. He can travel through time and teleport elsewhere through TVs. He can leave behind imprints of children and also reabsorb them? He has minor to major telekinesis and draws in the attention of those around him.

Seven has hydrokinesis. He can physically manipulate water. He can create air pockets to breathe underwater. If he concentrates, he can also control the water inside someone's body including his own. This proves difficult when trying to lift others, but his body is the easiest to control, giving the illusion that he's floating on air.

Five/Quinn is a size shifter. She can shrink at will to crawl through small spaces like a mouse; to get into hidden rooms or to avoid being caught. She can also enlarge herself at will and has the ability the manipulate thse sizes of objects, people, or animals around her. But this requires heavy concentration to do so.

gosh imagine this is the first time shes seen someone actively abstract... like yeah sure shes seen kaufmo in his abstracted form, but seeing the aftermath/complete transformation is totally different than being there in the moment. i think she would.. be all over the place. i mean youre at your worst and you dont even understand whats going on... and pomni doesnt know what to do or what she can do to ground you. can you even be grounded back to the present moment? can you even back up and regain yourself? is that something someone can do? i think her panic makes you panic, which ends up making your.. situation worse.. i think pomni would try to keep you together as best as she can; physically and mentally. i got the image of the readers face cracking open and the abstraction stuff peeking out and pomni just... trying to push the pieces back together... its a horrible situation, and before long you're fully abstracted and pomni just stands there. im not even sure if she would have the mind to run away, probably too caught up in trying to bring you back to her.. i think sometimes she would stop in front of your old bedroom door and just. stare at the brand new red X over your portrait

unlike pomni, i think he can more easily catch the signs of someone abstracting, though i dont think hes seen someone actually lose themselves right in front of him and transform right there... hmm... but unless you and him are very close i dont think he would bother trying to check in on you. i mean, if youre not, why would he? but... lets say youre both friends, or even partners, and he notices that youve been acting off.. i think it would still take him a little longer than id like to admit for him to actually come to your room to check in on you. perhaps he wants to give you space, or feels youre just going through something and thats your business, or maybe he didnt feel obligated to ask how youre doing as horrible as it sounds (i feel this is more likely if you guys are just friends, though, perhaps not close but still friendly with one another).. gets tipped off that something is wrong when he sees a stray (and glitching) piece of porcelain on the ground... which turns into two pieces, then three. a trail, leading right to your breaking form. i think at first he would think its some joke, before realizing that this is actually happening. unfortunately, i dont think jax is the best comforter so even in your last moments of being conscious and aware would still be spent in fear and confusion.. but at least theres an attempt to try to help you, right? i think jax would actually try to call for help, at least he might be able to admit hes unqualified to help you.. but regardless of if anyone hears him its too late for you.. i like to think he keeps some of your porcelain shards, on the off chance theyre still hanging around even after youre sent to the cellar

My take: He can be uptight and arguebly doesn't have fun in the same way others do but its been shown a few times riddle is a bit feral in his own way

♣️ Trey HC: Sweet mama friend whos done no wrong and needs a break

My take: He is a sweet mama friend but he has been shown quite a few times to do some (harmless) underhanded things for his own gain (Starsending Event: Getting a new blender/juicer/whatever it was)

♦️Cater HC: Bubbly guy whos secretly depressed with an internet addiction and THATS IT

My take: though not inherently wrong a lot of ppl dumb down his character to be very vague and two dimensional, Cater is also very alturistic in some cases and has shown to have a variety of skills (maybe not Trey/Ruggie lvl but its still skills)

♥️Ace HC: Mean as hell even in pranks(? this isnt one thats blatantly stated but written on a lot)

My take: Ace CAN be an ass but a lot of the time he will backout or realize his fuck up and make up for it, hes not jus sum ass that ppl talk too, hes a bully in the most loving way possible (lookin at deuce about that one LOL)

My take: Now in the context of School or sayings/confusing wording THIS IS VERY TRUE, but ppl make Deuce an all around idiot ive noticed and it annoys me, Deuce is very streets smart both in literal and just like,, hes a dude that knows things, and it annoys me so bad when they jus make Deuce a dumbass

My take: now this is more true then leonas but theres been a few times where ruggies done things for no/little gain, especially when it involves some level of danger, he may still joke about it but hes always pulled through

🐺Jack HC: this is also not a stated HC but ppl seem to forget how territorial/aggressive Jack gets so in writings hes usually just sum laid back guy

My take: Dude has been shown countless times to be headstrong and be aggressive and territorial, maybe not in the Adeuce, Tweel way but he in his own right has been shown to be aggressive (even if playful or more tamed then the formentioned)

My take: I AGREE AND DISAGREE, ive seen ppl give some characters vitiligo but NEVER to azul, if anything it WOULD be Azul, not only that Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease with factors such as stress, and who stresses more than anyone? AZUL, i usually consider most Visual canon to be just that with very little HC's but if Azul is to be interpreted with dark skin, mf has vitiligo

😈Floyd HC: Older of the twins and a variety of romantic HC's/writings i cant all list

My take: Its been shown in either a viginette or an event (i think an event) that despite being born within the same timing, Jade was actually first before Floyd (Jade makes a joke about keeping him around so im guessing the mf murked all his other siblings eggs djebdjsb ???) // As for romantic HC's writings what annoys me most is that he will usually be interpreted as very loving + his mood swings, i know damn well if Floyd had a gf/bf hes sTILL abiding to himself, now there are some factors that wouldnt keep this true to a default but floyd is floyd

👿Jade HC: He's just as seen in game//no real depth

My take: Its shown during the camp vargas event that Jade is actually extremely excitable and even (according to those around him (i think Cater says it)) that he even shouts in excitement about the natural Oven he was gunna make to cook the fish, Jade is very mannerly and a bit hard to read and its been stated as true, but Jade is also just a fucking nerd as well when you peel back the layers he isnt just that same guy as before

🎉Kalim HC: Both in HC's and writings a LOT of people drive on the fact of kalims "obliviousness"

My take: NOW THIS ONE MAKES ME THE MOST ANNOYED, Kalim may be happy go lucky and sunshine like, but that motherfucker is AWARE, now you may try and ref Jamil in B4 but- BUT- Jamil is his literal lifelong friend and even if he was blatantly backstabbing at some points Kalim gave him the benefit of doubt, because hes known him all of his life and ik you mfs LYIN if you said you wouldnt for a life long friend... // Also Kalim despite his delivery being happy/sunshine like, Kalim has been shown to have a more feral (similer to Ace) side and even a more snarky side, though rare and playful at most hes not just some 🌞 fr

My take: Similar to Jamil, a lot of ppl will HC Vil transf/m due to the fact that within the JP ver, Vil uses a pronoun/self identifier commonly used for/in feminine use, but also for masc use,,, this one is also jus a random irk and i truly do not mind at all but i hate when ppl base of very little things (ik i sound stupid these r jus my opinions LOL)...// Self interest again but Vil's literally in B5 shown to not only not tell anyone but do it on his own whim to post Epel's family product so they can buy out to the point Epel had to give back the crates of Juice his family got him, Vil did that himself, he may be cunt(y) but hes also very considerate

🏹Rook HC: N/A

My take: Surprisingly i see very little HC's of Rook and when i do they make sense to me (Ex: Dark skin and coily/wavy hair, mf was born n raised in Afterglow savanna so even if he has whiter genetics, mf DEFINITELY having darker skin, hes a hunter hes oUTSIDE)

🍏Epel: Transmasc (but for the wrong reasons)

My take: Now of all characters to HC as trans DOES make sense, but also at the same time Epel normally doesnt mind who he is, its only when its used negatively/to mock him or something that he knows ppl will think "less of him" for it,,, this one irks me way less but a lot of ppl will HC/Write epel way more sensitively about himself then he is whether with a trans HC or not, overall though this HC does make the most sense to me

My take: Same as Rook, i dont see a lot i dont disagree with or aren't too far from Canon, i will say my fav Idia HC is that hes a complete weeb and has a body pillow of some sort, man wants to be a non normie so bad but fell for the normie weeb traps (body pillow and prolly owns a figurine of the waifu) LOL

🌐Ortho HC: N/A

My take: i dont see a lot of Visual or normal HC's in general for ortho which makes me sad, give my son more swag,,,, i will say i did see a HC that orthos normal body (robo) his shoulders are white boards and people will write stuff on them and that ppl will normally decorate him with stickers :3

My take: Now for this one i feel like ppl make Sebek similar to deuce and make him an oblivious dunce, Sebek is smart as hell but he jus doesn't understand customs outside of Fae, hes from Briar valley where most people are fae, and also dont have internet, you cant blame him for being bad at lingo and oblivious to what we would normally know by like age 8../// Also funnily enough i feel like Sebek and Mal get rev for rom HC's (Mal being filled with Swagger while Lillia helps sebek),,, i feel like despite not knowing normal customs,, if Sebek ever pursued someone romantically he would actually not be bad at it, sure a bit lost here n there but i feel like hes got swagger

⚔️Silver HC: That he takes things passively

My take: Silver has been shown to act against others wishes even those with authority (Even more so in B7 but i wont spoil),, Silver often acts as a voice of reason to Sebek as well in those moments but due to Sebeks tunnel vision up until B7, mf wont hear it, and since Silver basically has known Sebek all his life, to see him not press on the matter more in certain aspects is normal, ppl with headstrong siblings know this especially, sometimes you jus gotta be like "okay fine"

In general i feel like a lot of people forget THIS IS AN ENTIRE SCHOOL the game is set in, teachers can take on different classes,,, but theres more teachers than just Vargas, Crewel and Trein, YOU SEE THAT BIG ASS SCHOOL? Theres a least 20 more teachers runnin around that bitch other than the ghosts, but since its a game and not like a series, Obviously they cant jus throw a random teacher every scene

My take: A lot of HC's are usually just addition to canon or within character so i have no complaints

My take: a lot of HC's for trein r very in character so i honestly dont have any annoyances

My take: now this isnt a HC/Writing but the way EVERYONE CLOWNS VARGAS ATTIRE..... the costumes for crewel n vargas in camp vargas were not bad at all imo, they werent spos to look like runway models or the latest trend that was GOOD costume design for something that was only spos to be VAGUELY seen cuz its DARK

imagine the horror sy would feel when he gets to see the aftermath of sqh meeting mbj. he was nervous and jumpy before, now hes terrified. theres bruises and breaks and black eyes that he desperately tries to play off as being clumsy. sj is paranoid and scared and yq is broken and traumatised. he gets to see the first flinch from "a-lou". he gets to see the flinch and sweat when someone asks to see yq's sword. they're all so scared. and he was content to just watch.

The situation with Shang Qinghua is even worse once all of this crashes and burns, because it starts when Sang Qinghua is still a disciple and Shen Yuan is a peak lord. He's around for that, he could have prevented it from happening, but he didn't. He was really harsh on 'villainous, 0 IQ canon fodder', so when he sees that his An Ding shidi's new head disciple is a nervous wreck clearly hiding bruises and injuries, he simply thinks

"Oh, so that's the sect traitor. Must be really shit at both of his jobs to get beat up even by Mobei-jun, hah! No wonder he will be killed eventually. Serves you right, sucker."

and moves on with his day. Because why should he care about this shitty little backstabbing NPC? He treats this experience like one of those studio tours, where you can walk through all the set pieces and look at all the costumes laid out all nice before they start filming a show. Nothing here matters, the Plot will come and he has nothing to do with it (was Shen Qingqiu's shizun even named in PIDW? He doesn't remember, so probably not.), so why should he step in and change things? What if he messes with the set pieces (like chases Mobei-jun off) and it changes things. Like Mobei-jun never sets off the attack against the Immortal Alliance Conference and Luo Binghe never gets unsealed? No, better not meddle.

That, of course, comes back to haunt him when he realizes that all of these people around him are actually people. The detachment coming from his cultivation, age and the System's framing of the world as 'expanding on lore' really made him forget that he's not the only person in this setting. In the case of Yue Qingyuan and Shen Qingqiu he was ignorant, but in the case of Shang Qinghua he willingly looked away.

Shen Yuan ascends and as god of secrets he suddenly has extremely detailed insight into what all these people are trying to keep the most hidden about themselves - their fear, their pain, their shitty horrible backstories WTF Airplane-bro - and at that point he can't pretend anymore that they are all just the equivalent of papier-mâché trees.

And it really seems to be fear that makes this abusive cycle go around. Mobei-jun is afraid that his family will kill him (as they are actively trying to do) and Shang Qinghua is too good to be true, so he hits him. Shang Qinghua is terrified that Mobei-jun is going to hit him too hard in one of his fits and he never wakes up again. Fear, fear, fear everywhere.

Except for Luo Binghe. Luo Binghe, even as a child, is not afraid of the abuse or his shitty shizun. He's confused, disappointed, unhappy, but all of that is going to distill into hatred and resentment - and that's when Shen Yuan knows that he has to do something, he has to step in, because none of his scared beasts stand a chance against the thing festering behind Luo Binghe's angelic little face. He's the Protagonist and he's going to revisit every slight upon them a thousandfold.

Shen Yuan, who now has an intimate understanding of their emotional states and motivations (despite very much not wanting any of that, System, he just wanted to watch the Plot from somewhere safe!) doesn't want that. He doesn't want more pain and he doesn't want Luo Binghe to succumb to the hate and madness that's already starting to take root in him. He deserves better.

They all deserve better. And if he was too self-absorbed and stupid to prevent it, then all is left to do is try and salvage what he can.

Lucky for him, there's a lot of wiggle room in 'ascended master has foreseen a horrible calamity and descended to try and prevent it' so he has a lot of rope to work with, but it's going to be a difficult thing to set things right.

He has to stay as Shen Qingqiu too, no, System, he's not arguing about that, do something so Shen Jiu can't come back to his position right away (initiating: teen devil Jiu scenario - he's going to be fifteen and those not in the know will fully think Shen Qingqiu just separated into his good and his horrible attributes during his deviation, but his shitty self is somehow younger) and he has to do a good job of being a caring Shizun this time around. He has to be the one who steps in and stops the abuse.

All the while the people he's trying to protect the most are looking at him with fear and suspicion, because he sure as hell wasn't a reliable, trustworthy adult before, so trying to do it now when it looks like he has essentially stolen Shen Qingqiu's body during a qi-deviation so he could insert himself into the situation easier is... not a good look. At all.

He would have lived the rest of his life happier if he never had to see Shen Jiu break down crying because after how hard he worked and fought for his position and cultivation, his fucking deadbeat shizun descended and stole it all from him for the sake of convenience. His body is the same state it was when he first joined the sect and he doesn't care about Shen Yuan's awkward suggestions about plants and whatever to fix his wonky foundation, he will have to do all his breakthroughs and everything all over again and it's just too much. Part of the meltdown is definitely the body, with its teenage hormones and the mood-destabilizing effects of demonic cultivation still in his system, but he's not wrong. Shen Yuan has jumped into this, once again, without considering how any of the other people in the scenario feel and he destroyed whatever minuscule amount of trust Shen Jiu had in him.

i saw some of your posts about being anti-cassie's dad protag for HW2, which valid, but the theory's become so popular most people seem to accept it. HW2 is kind of a mess to theorize about what the string of events was considering both endings could easily be canon, but I guess I'll get to the point. I'm sure most people have heard plenty of theories about what happens in the game if it's Cassie's Dad as the protagonist, so I'm curious. If you don't think it's him, who do you think is most likely? And (while this is difficult to figure out with any protag..) what do you think is supposed to be happening throughout the game, like, timeline-wise/plot-wise? Personally I feel like Cassie's Dad protag is possible, but I don't think it's set in stone or that he would be a reoccuring character. Imo Cassie's Dad protag works best if he stays a one-off character, building onto Cassie's backstory. I kinda wonder if the "what makes you so special?" lines aren't actually saying he's special, but asking what he thinks makes him special enough to go through all this and survive. Still I'm really curious to hear alternatives! I'm definitely not attatched to that theory lol. I just haven't really heard anything else tbh since the theory's so big in the fandom..

theres tons of evidence (a lot of it already used for cassie dad protag evidence) that apply to Cassie protag. for starters hw2 is obviously incredibly reminiscent of hw1 with its ending. vanny traps you somewhere and waves, the same way glitchtrap trapped you somewhere and waved in hw1s canon ending.

it's been widely accepted that vanny cassie is very possible and the direction the story is going in so playing as cassie in the lobby and going through princess quest and helping vanny and it being implied Vannys using the player as a vessel now the same way glitchtrap used vanessa to create vanny makes it very plausible we play as cassie

theres also the 'unused' line (but they all perfectly apply to the game as it is right now and add much needed context that make the game actually make sense) that's from presumably vanny, saying: "it kept you for a reason"

not only does the it pronoun 100% mean the mimic (and cassie is still down there in the same place where the mimic is literally free rn but alive) but it means that the mimic purposefully didnt kill cassie and also probably was the one to drop the evelator because it has a plan for her. aka the plan is getting vanny a new vessel so mimic can resume operations

the lobby itself also perfectly matches post ruin. you have the vanni mask on first of all, but second of all theres little items around the lobby that hint that you're cassie. like the robot parts strewn around that could imply cassie is trying to repair roxy (theres also the helpy screen)

as for "what makes you so special" I think people are misinterpreting the cassie ending as it being Cassies dad and not a staffbot. it literally shows you straight up that you get attacked by other staffbots and made into maskbot and give cassie the mask. if anything it shows us that Cassies arrival was planned and it's more evidence that we play as her becoming vanny. but its ALSO a perfect explanation for how confusing the minigames are in telling us who we play as

we literally play as a staffbot/mapbot. the minigames go from clean and fixed animatronics to gradually getting worse. even when the pizzaplex is clean and the animatronics are just a bit dirty, we've only seen that in sb. we play as a staffbot from pre sb, during sb, and post sb. "what makes you so special" what makes you so special compared to the other staffbots

it also explains why the animatronics are mean to you. staffbots are seen as useless hunks of junk and its shown all across the pizzaplex and in ruin as well when they're constantly shown discarded and destroyed.

freddy also says the line "you ARE a Fazbear technician, arent you? idk bc I can't see you". it means we literally arent a Fazbear technician. were a staffbot. and the same applies for carnies line about kids. its prerecorded and we're just a robot anyway

I have more posts about all this stuff individually but more in depth in my hw2 theory tag. this is what I genuinely think and I believe cassie is the protag for sure. it just feels so clear with how reminiscent hw2 is of hw1s ending tied with the clear plot of vanny cassie it's just like. why would we play as her dad when we watch ourselves get trapped by vanny the same way vanessa did right in front of our eyes.

we have the cassie ending because it shows us how maskbot got the mask and where it came from. it came from glitchtrap + by extension the mimic and vanny. vanny betrays glitchtrap at the end but also traps cassie in the process. the elevator dropped on cassie in ruin because the mimic did it on purpose to enact this plan. I think hw2 is more straightforward than ppl realize if you put everything together from what we have and dont try your hardest to put other characters in when the game is definitely about vanny cassie

like hw2 and ruin were made at the same time. they go hand in hand and reference eachother in the game, even before one of them was even out. the story is about cassie becoming vanny, the whole thing. this game is an intermission (the song scorched cranberries (the end credits song) is elevator music) showing us how the new villain/character thatll be big in the next plot was created. this is about cassie

maybe her dad will have the spotlight in hw2s dlc. idk. he has something going on but nothing in hw2 I dont think.

No one asked but I'll give some lore on Ksit and Dog (my first ever ocs that I created when I was like 4) which were literally my right and left hand anthropomorphized in the imagination of a child

So, που λέτε. The plot changed a lot of times with a lot of uh... Time traveling (not canon, I think) cause I didn't know what was going on either

Ksit and Dog (PS I didn't know English he's not named dog🐶 he's named Ντογκ)were twins but in their world twins were forbidden cause people thought twins were evil and like, had evil plans to mock or fool people, with their evil plans

So they threw the babies away in an island, which was like, απέναντι. Either the parents went there with a boat to abandon the babies or, they like put them in a little boat to send them there idk

Now here's where the plot gets confusing. Cause I remember being a kid, Ksit and Dog worked in.... A studio? I'm not sure what the fuck was happening but it was technically my body, cause Γλωθθας (Tongue, mispronounced) was like the boss/god of the boys. I think Ksit might have been famous, but bc they were keeping their twiness a secret they might have been changing places idk

I picked favorites honestly and I don't think I liked dog very much...

... Also ksit had a second job undersea, like, he went to the sea, opened a door and went underground in a lab where there were miniatures of everyone and I think he was like, controlling? Or like looking after them, I'm not sure

Maybe dog messed reality once and that's why I don't like him idk

But like, idk if that's canon in the story, cause at some point

They do end up in the island (oh yeah not sure if this was clear, they weren't there so far)

Maybe they run away? Oh maybe the people found out about their double identity and they run away or something idk

But yeah, thing is they weren't babies when they went to the island and for some reason they were strong and smart

So at some point the find or see parents leaving their babies there

And they take care of them and raise them and at some point theres a whole mini town of kid twins and the bosses Ksit and Dog

Also they tame the wild animals like Leon or Leonard the lions, and I think they can speak with them cause they grew up there

Also not sure how timing works cause I'm pretty sure I never considered ksit and Dog old adults but there were kid twins they raised at like their 12-15 or something which I considered teenagers

I guess ksit and Dog were like in their 20s

Actually no. They didn't age. They were always an... age. Not sure what age

At some point I did give them girlfriends. I don't remember where they came from maybe they were homeless but they spawned in the island one day I think their names were Lily and Lila or something

I think by the end there's like a revolution or something or the people realize the law banning twins is stupid cause they go back to get their kids back

And ksit and Dog live with their parents at some point and I think the girls are neighbors

Now that I have written everything down, probably for the first time ever. I have a lot of plot holes lmao. Cause they lived in... The town? For a while but besides Tongue I don't remember them having parents but then I just made them roommates

Forgot to mention tho, the secondary characters Ksitdog and Dogksit which were my legs... They worked in the studio. I think they... Look the studio was my body, they might have been walls. Cause I was sitting on the floor. Or like helpers? For each hand idk idk

But they no longer existed after the studio arc disappeared

You know. This story was ongoing since I was 4 to like 11 (just repeating itself with very little progress when I was bored and just like thinking about them) well like, I thought this when I was trying to sleep so yeah

But if I have to guess now or like make the plot better I'd say maybe the law happened bc ksit and Dog fooled the people with whatever they were doing in the studio

Or you know I could make tongue the father who tried to hide the kids but like making then swap places but then they were found out and sent away

i think the thing i want to talk most about is the beginning of their relationship and what their relationship actually is ...like what about it is making me lose my marbles...i want to get all of this information out because as the ceo of petyle i need everyone to understand how they are characterised and how to correctly view their relationship. anything outside what i think is simply lies and flanderization..../hj.........

i typically default to college-age setting so thats what ill be centering on but my ideas of their dynamic can be malleable to other ages (canon, high school, post covid at a stretch etc)

pete has always been interested in kyle from a distance- theyve never really spoken, but after stan becomes a normie again after his goth stint michael points stan out at school like 'look at that conformist lol' and petes like 'yeah what a loser. also who the fuck is the guy in green.'

we've seen from basic cable where he has a crush on sophie that he isnt necessarily afraid of putting himself out there when hes interested in someone but hes kind of awkward about it. so he approaches kyle a couple of times to see what his deal is. this makes all the other goth kids INSANE like not in a negative way they r either in disbelief (michael, firkle) or think its hilarious (henrietta) that pete has a crush on kyle, he massively denies its a romantic thing tho bc hes not a gaywad...he just wants to know whats up with this guy and why hes so interesting

ngl kyle is probably suspicious or at least confused as why pete has started talking to him once hes over the initial weirdness he realises pete is kind of chill but the award palatable small talk hes trying to have with kyle is really annoying kyle def snaps at some point and asks him what the fuck pete is trying to gain out of this because its obvious hes not being himself.

pete is stubborn enough to not back down atp, hes not gonna let a conformist own him like that. so he starts being himself so much, to a degree where hes almost saying 'you wanted this, fine here you fucking go' in order to make kyle upset. but it doesnt work oh no!! kyle finds his goth eccentricities and pessimism so stupid thats its endearing!!!

nothing between them is inherently romantic or even entirely..friendly. more than anything they enjoy annoying each other in a constant loop of quips and rolled eyes. but theres just like.. something fiery underneath they wont address until they get wasted at a house party and let the alcohol do the talking

i have a habit of favouring either onesided petyle (on petes side ofc) or one that ends with a bad breakup because #stylesweep so a lot of my thoughts are biased towards that sort of ending. i just like relationship/situationship angst ok ...ive been there many times. a part of this angst is the idea that theyre each just 'the best they can get' in the moment. Pete's too internally self loathing to think kyle is actually in love with him or anything. theyre just having fun. its not serious. he refuses to think into any of it emotionally, though its kind of eating him up inside. meanwhile kyle is literally just taking it as it is. he feels a little guilty. he doesnt like pete like that (???) but he cant deny flirting and fooling around with him is fun. and also a distraction from stan getting back with wendy.

anyway thats what i have for now. let me know if anyone wants any more i guess. or any specifics about their actual relationship that i have bouncing around. idk!

thoughts on banwally. i've never played any of garten of banban so you are my only reference for what happens in those games and consequently, what makes banwally a compelling crackship.

when or if I started shipping it: i actually have an exact date, may 29th of last year. everyone in my friends server is really into crackshipping so we like to share random ideas with each other and i posted them as an idea on that date. i have never been the same since

my thoughts: crackships are kind of hard to talk about in this context because there isnt anything canon to go off but ill do my best. when welcome home first started gaining traction i saw a lot of people saying "this is what good mascot horror looks like" (whether or not wh even counts as mascot horror is. debatable.) so me associating banban and wally with each other was already a thing before i started shipping them. at some point i realized they both have a lot in common (monotone voices, often associated with devil imagery, passive most of the time but gets a little Silly with it sometimes) and i was like woah.... they should kiss. again a lot of my thoughts surrounding them are based in headcanon so im struggling to talk about them in a way that doesnt make me sound fucking insane BUT im a sucker for pessimist/optimist ships and they very much fit that to me. i think they balance each other out in a way, wally is a bright spot in the Endless Misery banban deals with on a daily basis, and banban is pretty logical and grounded which levels out wallys spacey-ness. theyre very much a jessica and roger rabbit "he makes me laugh" type of deal but with the fun addition of identity issues and whatever the fuck wallys deal is

what makes me happy about them: the fact that theyre both freaks of nature (banban is a weird clone manmade abomination thing, wally is either straight up an eldritch entity or a manmade puppet with eldritch qualities) is another thing they have in common to me, so i think theyd be accepting of each others weird traits because they know what its like. banban doesnt give a fuck that wally is up to some scp shit, he might as well live in the scp containment facility. theres a kingdom run by a giant kangaroo woman with a magic scepter who is in charge of keeping a bunch of baby demons and the father(?) of those baby demons trapped in her pouch or else the entire kingdom will be destroyed. he has seen weirder. banban wouldnt just love wally because hes handsome and hes nice to people, he loves all of his weird traits too because they arent even weird to him.

what makes me sad about them: they lend themselves pretty well to angst (i hate that word but idk a better one to describe this) because theyre both from horror media, and i like to pelt my favorite characters with hammers so >:) my friends and i (same friends who got me into crackshipping) have a group rp thing going on, and theres a mini arc going on right now based on the fact that banban got SUPER fucked up trying to fight sir dadadoo and his army. wally wants banban to leave the kindergarten because of how dangerous it is, he wants him to live in home where he doesnt need to fear for his life all the time. but despite all the horrors he has to put up with, banban doesnt want to leave everyone in the underground behind. theyre still his friends, and he wants to protect them. as much as wally wants him to be safe, he understands where hes coming from because he wouldnt want to leave his friends behind either. this leaves him feeling really conflicted and confused, and the homewarming update taught us that wally doesnt do well with those kinds of feelings. just some thoughts for yall <3

my happily ever after for them: things finally calm down at the kindergarten to a point where banban feels comfortable leaving to be with wally, and whatever the hell is going on with home also calms down. banban would still visit the others obviously (i think he would introduce some of them to wallys friends, barnaby and bittergiggle would get along super well i think) but he can finally be somewhere where he isnt constantly fearing for his life :]

uhh tldr dont say "what if i shipped this" as a joke. it will become no longer a joke and you will write like a million words about two characters from entirely different media who have never met and never will meet. worst mistake of my life

Where I rewrite the show up till skybound so instead of the love triangle aimed at Nya, its aimed at Jay.

After Jay unlocks his true potential on his date with Nya, she genuinely gains feelings for him.

But instead of jumping into a relationship, they decide to just stay friends. They want to form a bond before starting anything serious.

Same goes for Jay and Cole, they grow as friends and get to know each other as time passes.

Jay develops a slight crush on Cole, which is actually the reason he decided to stay friends with Nya in the first place.

Jays a lot more indecisive in this au and has a difficult time choosing between Nya and Cole.

He doesn’t think too hard about it though. He just wants to enjoy their company, flirting here and there.

In rebooted, the whole, ‘love matching’ machine just doesn’t happen.

Nya and Cole find out they both have feelings for Jay through circumstances alone.

Instead of their rivalry being filled with tension and hateful words, its more of a silent competitiveness.

Nya and Cole are still friends and definitely respect one another. They’ll be competing one day and then have a deep convo about life the next.

In summary, its a competition of who can woo Jay first.

Its sort of a running gag throughout the first few seasons.

Jay can sense somethings off but has no clue whats going on. The wooing actually does work but just makes him all the more indecisive.

The thing is, Jay doesn’t know if Nya and Cole even like him. They aren’t obvious with their flirting. It’s more of a battle in his head on which crush he should stick with and pursue.

During The Tournament of Elements, Jays feelings for Cole grow due to being away from Nya. Cole, taking this as an opportunity to spend some more time with Jay.

The Cole and Jay fight happens but its a lot more mundane. It ends with Cole sacrificing himself like in canon.

Out of guilt, Jay makes up his mind then and there and chooses Cole. But he's still unsure of himself, so he doesn’t make a move.

That is until Possession, season 5. Where Jay sees his future in the temple of the first spinjitzu master. Only seeing Nya by his side instead of Cole. Since Cole had invisibility on in the future.

This just confuses Jay all over again and brings him back to square one.

Jay also tells all of this to Zane. Airing out his frustrations. Zane tries to give any sort of advice he can.

When the ninja start getting famous. Instead of the Jay x Nya x Cole love triangle being widespread news,

It just, isn’t.

Of course theres some fans who ship the ninja and make those ‘everytime jay gets flustered by Nya/Cole’ youtube videos and some who raise eyebrows when Nya and Cole subtly flirt with Jay in interviews. But the love triangle doesn’t get as bad as it does canonically.

While Nya and Cole are still trying to compete over Jay. Jays having an internal battle over the two and its causing him literal stress.

He still doesn’t know they reciprocate feelings for him, its mostly just a “this isn’t normal, I cant have crushes on both of them! I have to choose one!”

Theres also a feeling of, “do I even deserve them both...?”

Eventually, after the ninja break out of prison for being framed. Nadakhan finds Jay alone without the ninja near. (The ‘Nya rejects Jay’ doesn’t happen)

But instead of Nadakhan using Nya as manipulation to get Jay to make a wish. He uses Jays insecurities.

It doesn't work at first, and Jays very close to signaling for help.

That is until Nadakhan tries another tactic, mentioning Cole and Nya. The djinn talks of all of Cole and Nyas accomplishments. How perfect they are. And how, meh, Jay is. He says he knows of Jays crush on them, and asks if Jay thinks he really deserves them.

Jay doesn’t say anything.

Eventually, Jay caves and wishes that he wasn’t poor, that he could give Nya and Cole what they deserved.

Jay finds out he’s adopted and that Cliff Gordons his dad, just like canon.

Instead of Jay finding the ‘book on how to woo woman’ that helps him make all his terrible decisions. He ignores it, his line of thinking being “well, I’m not trying to woo them, and Cole isn’t even a woman!”

Nya finds him at Cliff Gs mansion and Jay decides to lie and say he saved up for his ‘secret base’ worried she'll be upset if she knew he wished for it.

When Jay shows the mansion to the rest of the ninja. Instead of Cole confronting him and calling him out on his ‘I saved up up for this’ bullshit. Its Zane.

Jay tells Zane everything and makes him promise not to tell anyone. 

Zanes extremely reluctant but agrees.

Eventually they get on Cliff Gs ship and sail to retrieve the venom to stop Nadakhan. Zane is left alone inside the ship and tries to outsmart Nadakhan while a storm strikes outside. He loses and is trapped in Nadakhans sword.

When the ship crashes on the island, Jays wrecked with guilt over the fact that Zane was taken, along with Kai.

He thinks that maybe if he told everyone the truth, they wouldn't have told Zane to go to the bottom of the ship alone.

Jay comes clean, telling Lloyd, Nya, and Cole all about the wishes, but not necessarily why. Not wanting them to know he harbors feelings.

Cole and Nya feel betrayed. They thought that they were close with Jay. That he could tell them anything.

Lloyd's the angriest out of all of them, for good reason, and tells Jay that he has to be the one that collects the venom from the spider.

The whole venom expedition goes with Nya and Cole contemplating and then bombarding Jay with questions of “why didn't you tell us”, “why did you make those wishes”, “why did you lie to us.”

Jay uncharacteristically stays tight-lipped, sometimes making an offhand excuse.

This just deepens the betrayal that Nya and Cole feel.

Things go as normal, with Jay getting kidnapped and the rest escaping the island and conducting a plan to save him. Forgiving Jay for lying to them.

Nya and Cole also feel like they're both ‘losing’ the competition. Because how can either of them end up with Jay if he doesn't even trust them.

Cole tries to put the venom in Nadakhans drink but fails and finds Jay like in canon. They try to escape but get captured along with Nya and Lloyd.

They all waste their 3 wishes, with Jay still having his last one.

But unlike in canon, only Lloyd gets trapped in the sword. He pushes Nya, Jay, and Cole, forcing all three of them to make an energy dragon fusion.

Eventually they hide out at Zanes dads lighthouse, meeting Echo. All three of them talk and bond, trying to think up ideas to stop Nadakhan and fortifying the lighthouse.

Nya and Cole eventually sit down with Jay, they ask why he made his wishes. After some pestering from them, he admits, he felt inadequate compared to them and the rest of the ninja. He didnt feel like he was good enough. He thought maybe he could be good enough if he wasnt, you know, poor.

He doesn’t specify that he wanted to be good enough for them, to be able give them what they deserve.

They understand, reassuring him that he is good enough. They both almost confess their feelings to him before they realize that Nadakhan and his crew had found them.

They’re forced to use the travelers tea, but theres only enough for one person. Jay looks to Cole and Nya and is indecisive all over again. He can’t choose which one to save. Even though he knows he should save Nya, due to her being the target, he can’t help but want Cole to be safe as well.

Jay isn't able to get a word out, Nya and Cole looking at each other before looking back at Jay. They pour their hearts out, confessing everything. How they've loved him since the very start. They laugh when they mention the competition as they hold back the door stopping Nadakhans crew.

Jays dumbfounded, mouth gaping, unsure of what to say.

Nya and Cole grab Jay, saying his wish is the last one and the most important. Their final words being that Jay deserves the best, that they trust him to save them. They push Jay into the portal and brace themselves to fight Nadakhans crew.

They both get captured and Jay falls into his parents backyard. He tells them everything, including Nya and Coles confession.

Jay creates the ninja team 2.0 and rushes to save his friends and future partners.

Jay finds Nya locked up by a window in a wedding dress. He’s a bit flustered, since the last time they saw each other she’d confessed her feelings. All he can think of is, “how can someone as beautiful as this love me?”

His thoughts are interrupted as Nya quickly tells him that Cole was trapped in the sword like the rest of the ninja. With her help Jays able to retrieve the sword, releasing Lloyd, Kai, Wu, Misako, Zane, and Cole. Cole tries to talk to Jay, and Jay would love to be able to take a second and talk to him too. But they aren’t given the time. The 5 ninja rush to stop the wedding but are too late, forced to run and leave Nya behind.

They return later, with Nya now as Delara and the venom to slow down Nadakhan.

Flintlocke takes the shot and poisons Nadakhan, but Nya as well. She gasps, calling Jay and Coles name.

Jay and Coles hearts shatter. Cole hates himself in that moment, because if he hadn’t been a coward, if he had simply stopped playing their stupid game and told Jay that he loved him then none of this would have happened. Jay wouldn’t have felt inadequate and made his wish.

Jay blames himself, for the obvious reasons, for not being good enough, for making his wish, for not knowing that Nya and Cole loved him.

Jay hugs Nya close, with Cole kneeled beside him. He makes his last wish. “I wish… That I knew you both loved me, and that no one found the djinn teapot.”

The timeline traces back to the rooftop. Nya and Cole had just flirted with Jay. It made him flustered and confused. He gets in his head again, and the stress of his indecisiveness takes over. He doesn’t notice Dareth and the helicopters approaching.

Nya and Cole urge him to use airjitzu so he can hide behind the billboard, but then they pause, a sense of deja vu washing over them. Jay snaps out of it and looks up at them. They airjitzu down, Jay going up. They meet and hold hands, almost stunned with the situation as they drift and reach the ground. Nya and Cole stand before Jay.

Jay stares at them, the memory of Nya and Cole confessing to him resurfacing. He takes a step back before leaping forwards and pulling them both into a hug. He says he remembers everything, and that he loves them too. They embrace him in return, confirming that they also remember.

The rest of the ninja jump down, unsure of what's going on but happy for the three nonetheless.

THE BEST I CAN GIVE IS UHHHH a little bit of background on some things that have been cooking because im bored.

The basis of elkas character being a control freak who is so obsessed w upholding the status quo of her mind and staying normal and being ‘happy’ in her future despite everything she sees being a doomed ending. the vision of a married life with nils lutefisk, who never really seemed to care about her and who she doesnt even know she actually loves or not. because it doesnt feel like how it SHOULD feel and she wished he was something different but she doesnt know what

she doesnt allow herself to think maybe shes Never been happy with a man. that maybe she only feels the need to be because thats all shes ever known or seen herself having

also the added very important headcanon that elka gets so obsessed over this future that she forces herself to have visions of it constantly, over working her future sight to the point that by the time the canon game happens her vision has clouded over and shes completely blind and has to use clairvoyance to ‘see’. (based on her early concept model with white eyes. anyway)

her first year of summer camp kicks off her relationship with nils but also an unexpected friendship with Kitty, and they end up getting very close, and though its confusing its the best elkas ever felt- up until she’s graced with a vision of her and kitty getting into a terrible fight, and rather than putting herself through that she just pretends they were never friends in the first place. (because shes normal)

kitty is understandably confused and upset about this and doesnt know why elka is suddenly giving her the cold shoulder. they both leave camp completely fucked up over their toxic female friendship drama and the next year kitty is ‘seemingly’ over it, already rebounding to a New girl she met on the bus, franke.

of course, franke is a lot different than elka. kitty finds her a lot easier to get along with, more relaxed, they kind of compliment each other in a way. the budding friendship to serious crush to summercamp love story pipeline.

BUT.. franke cant really help but noticing how tense kitty and elka are around each other.

its a lot to get into but my friends and i kind of spitballed franke having like. psychic hyper empathy based powers. shes more of a feelings guy. she kinda goes with whatever kitty wants but she can be good when shes not around. theres like a whole thing i made up for it BUT anyway

she doesnt know whats wrong with them just that the vibes are fucking rancid and she wants to help kitty out by getting to the bottom of it. and so she starts talking to elka when she can , and elka pities her a bit because she sees franke as this completely gullible goofball under kittys spell, cursed to follow her around like a lost puppy. especially because kitty has only grown hostile to elka since theyve been back at camp, elka kind of knows kitty is/was using franke to make her jealous. much like , well, she was using JT to get to nils. so franke is kind of like a tennis ball getting kicked between the two of them.

because a lot of this stuff is roleplayed out there was a bit going about franke being illiterate (because shes dumb) that franke plays into in a self deprecating humor kind of way, but elka takes it completely seriously and takes soooooo much pity on her she decides to help franke learn to read by showing her her favorite book pride and prejudice. has franke hold the book while elka uses her eyes to read it for her. this made a lot of sense in the moment dont worry

franke goes along with this even tho she can. absolutely read. because, like, maybe if they talk enough she can squash her and kittys beef. this ... goes okay, but franke ends up really enjoying this little book reading thing they do together. she is unfortunately a little baby butch lesbian and elka is pretty and nicer than she initially thought, when she isnt talking about stupid boys, and gets Really into the romance aspects of the book that Elka herself enjoys. and elka ends up enjoying it too, because without kitty around, franke is just such a good listener, and a little charming, and does whatever she asks, and gosh, if she was a boy she’d be everything elka wanted, wouldnt she? oh well!

and even though she looks, she cant find an end in sight for their future. maybe this friendship could be different from kitty, maybe she doesnt have to be afraid of how close they are. so she lets it happen, because it distracts her from the grief of boys who refuse to understand her. every time her and nils break up, franke is there to say Well, he never deserved you anyhow! and she feels better for just a little while.

this isnt even getting INTO the feelings that evolve over the future and the self destruction elka puts herself thru to secure her marriage but ive rambled enuff. maybe you all will feel what i feel if only for a moment

can u explain ur theories behind your wtnv/tma crossover stuff??

So I’ve made a couple of posts about this before that I think I tagged #wtnv/tma — so if you want to read those you can search them on my blog.

As of right now, my theories/ ideas are this:

Cecil is not an avatar of anything. Neither is Carlos— they are however physical manifestations (as the fears work in tma) for the Spiral and the Lonely respectively. Any ability Cecil has to see events as they unfold are as such— as they unfold. He can’t see the future — and and doesn’t like to remember the past often in canon. His ability to report live events is due to having interns, being a good journalist, and also because he was literally destined to be nvcr’s host after Leonard Burton so theres probably something going on there. Carlos screams lonely to me for reasons I’m to tired to go into — but running away on sabbatical, DOW, cecil forgetting him, being a scientist, etc.

vague series of events:

A. Jon arrives in Night Vale first. He awakens in the busiest town intersection on main street, right in the center, holding up traffic. I see the intersection as a main focal point of town, its the busiest, it has the most shops, its what gets closed off for parades/fairs/wtc. which is where Jon would be drawn to. He is physically okay, but alone. Cecil finds him there after picking Esteban up from Kindergarten. He offers to take Jon home to clean up since hes clearly disoriented— and ofc to get an interview!

B. Carlos comes home from work before Cecil has to leave for his job with boundless golden retriever energy because ”babe there was this HUGE spike of radiation and — oh hello— honey who is this?” and Jon explains who he is and the situation to Carlos. He’s very worried and afraid for Martin!!!!

C. Martin is then found by Carlos — who is able to distinguish a specific energy surge similar to the one that occurred when Jon was deposited in town square. He tracks the energy and finds Martin in the outskirts of town, alone in the sand wastes. I equate the desert to loneliness and unsettlement in wtnv (the dow years)

D. Martin and Jon are reunited, and theres lots of crying and confusion. Cecilos offer up Estebans room— since the guest room is being blocked by fow for the time being — and they share a blow up mattress. Esteban sleeps with his parents either in bed with them OR in the giant fort he and carlos concocted one night Cecil was held up at work and who hasnt had the heart to clean it up even though the mess bothers him.

E. it quickly becomes apparent to both parties that Jon and Martin have some issues they need to sort out and work on once the initial shock of being Somewhere Else passes. Boundaries, communication, moving past trauma bonding to actually bonding, emotional development etc.

f. they stay with carlos and cecil until they can get back on their feet in town — martin works at carlos’ lab as an assitant / clerk and jon works as a librarian bc they're afraid of him.

g. the rest is….. just character development baybeeee— martin and cecil bond over having shitty moms, jon and cecil bond over feeling like they’re monsters physically/emotionally, and over choices being taken from them, martin and carlos bond over being lonely and having trouble with settling in somewhere and around people, and jon and carlos bond over their mutual interest in the esoteric and knowledge and leaving behind old lives to pursue something bigger

in this lil ol hc of mine it has to do a lot with night vale being a place of healing and betterment. the town makes you better because it sees you for what and who you are and loves you anyways. you just have to.. make the choice to accept yourself — which is what jon and martin need to learn for themselves and each other. Its directly opposite to the archives where the longer you stay the worse you become.

i also really like the idea of cecil and carlos being an example for them — they’re an older couple, (jon and martin are like 29-32 right? cecil and carlos are like 45-50) with a fleshed out and full life they both chose, and frequently discuss boundaries and communicate— and also have gone through their fair share of hardships they've worked through. they both have done a lot of personal growth too!

additional hcs:

jon babysits esteban before be finds work — esteban LOVES him and carlos and cecil LOVE extra date nights

Cecil is addicted to hugs from martin — there are not many people in night vale taller than him, so being able to be enveloped by someone taller is Cecil's big enjoyment

cecil and jon fight like old queens until cecil stops his superficial brat behavior and jon stops being an asshole bc hes afraid to connect with people

Jon cant ask cecil for a statement bc cecil would have an absolute meltdown as things he doesnt even remember are unearthed — and jon would like — be out for a few days from trauma overload

both jon and martin vent to carlos abt how whacky night vale is who just nods and slaps down a HUGE binder labeled Carlos’ Classified Night Vale Survival Guide’ which he named when he was drunk —its a survival guide—color coded!

everyone bonds over their door related trauma

Jon quits smoking bc carlos threatens him that if he gets cecil back on it he’ll kick him out of the house

i think both martin AND jon get flustered around carlos for different reasons but the one they have in common is that hes stupidly attractive

i think a fun reversal is jon getting a little jealous when martin and cecil get along so well from the get go — and carlos is there like ”my husband thinks he himself is ugly and also he has few friends this is actually very good so me and you are gonna go get a drink and chat about our fears while martin blushes at cecil who just genuinely does not understand personal space”

i think they end up being good friends! i think there is a period of time where jon and martin are afraid they’re only together bc of trauma — and then realize that thats not true — and even if it was they both want the relationship currently and for different better reasons !!!

because like imagine youre dan. he probably already had a good guess about what the situation was but his assumption being wrong is not out of the realm of possibilities. the idea that they could have talked about is not out of the realm of possibilities! if youre dan! if you just got here. if you didnt see all of s12.

like just imagine that scene! yaz just baldfaced lying as a way to like, bounce the idea off of him plus double duty to affirm her own beliefs that like the doctor never would plus triple duty paralleling 11x4 for 13 to ensure dan is never gonna ask about this again.

and WE'D KNOW. WE'D FUCKING KNOW. it'd be such a doctor move.

"have you ever told her?" "told her what?" "how you feel about her" "...yes." "well what did she say?" "i think you can guess" yaz snaps because she thinks she can. she has guessed or assumed or sort of correctly inferred a while ago that like, nothing is going to happen here, theres no point in her saying anything because the doctor isnt interested. and dan is like "i find her kind of hard to judge actually" because he still wants to hear an actual answer from yaz but yaz just laughs and goes "tell me about it" and then shes saved by a dalek.

of course we still want dan forcing their hand but thats easy to arrange by instead of him going all battering ram with "she likes you" in the next scene he just has to mention it. and i dont really know how he'd mention it because im not really sure how this would look to him.

so particulars to be determined but he does mention it In Some Way and now theres the doctor in a situation yaz indirectly accidentally put her in where shes suddenly having a Lot to process and also shes gonna lie about :) shes gonna lie about it so hard :)

maybe dan's guess is that whatever the doctor said was less-than-definitive ie vague as fuck because hes known her for like a week and has already seen how good she is at explaining herself and also because of yazs bitter "tell me about it" so maybe what he says is like "you better not be stringing her along"

and the doctor, in her perfectly inscrutable grey area between true What The Fuck Are The Humans Talking About This Time and a carefully crafted mask of obliviousness, goes "string her along what"

"i just mean that you gotta make sure your intentions are clear because it's really not fair to keep her guessing, and hoping"

and the doctor says "i dont understand what youre saying dan" because she really doesnt <3

and dan can still say his canon line "i think that you do, but you pretend that you dont" and in this case hes wrong, but he still hits the mark, wrong calculation right answer because the doctor is still like Fuck.

because she does know, of course. she does know about yaz and shes knows about herself and she knows what shes avoiding. and she will still do the same thing in sea devils. and this weird little lie yaz told will probably never come out. the doctor and her talk, dan isnt there, never sees how New this all is. the doctor has no reason to find out what yaz said to dan.

but we know. we know!!! we get to see this whole comedy of errors play out and still somehow arrive at the same answer. we have to live with how clearly none of them correctly assume each other's understanding of the situation. it'd be frustrating as fuck and such a nice encapsulation of what thasmin has been since the beginning. these half-communications that bounce off each other kind of painfully like billiard balls.

they would never find out. sea devils and potd play out exactly as they did and nobody would ever know. except us. it's a portrait of their shared fatal flaw finally laid out for us in broad daylight at the exact moment they come together. and only we can see it.

set in immortal fears/the belt corruption arc. this will be an official piece at some point so i might have to revise it, but. actually in-story canon first kisses/love confessions. theres a lot of anxiety surrounding this topic as its a heavy point of realization for kip especially, so its just kinda angsty. also kip says fuck way too many times cause ofc he does i tried to proofread and edit this but if theres something wonky yo thats entirely on me

Kip carefully pushed the bedroom door open, breathing raspy and heavy, heart in his throat as he was met with the familiar darkness beyond the door. Most nights it wouldn’t have been such a big deal, but something felt different tonight. Maybe it had been the past few days, the past few hours leading up to this moment, the words that had been said, the touches that still burned the skin he couldn’t get out of, the feelings that he didn’t know before now for sure that burned in his mind.

Seeing the familiar figure already laying on the bed in the darkness didn’t help any of the feelings he had in him.

Maybe he could figure this out. Maybe he was imagining it all, maybe he was pushing it all and everything he was feeling was nothing but a fragment of his own imagination. Maybe Kip was making it all up. Maybe he didn’t mean anything that he had been saying, thinking, wondering the past few days, the past few hours.

But the longer Kip stood frozen in the doorway, the more he knew he was just lying to himself thinking that he didn’t mean any of those things.

The worst part was, he just didn’t know if Cassidy was on the same level with him at all.

Kip slowly made his way into the bedroom, closing the door behind him as quietly as he could. He wasn’t sure if Cassidy was still awake, but as he hadn’t moved or reacted at all while Kip had been standing in the doorway, it was safe to say he was fast asleep. Kip was honestly surprised he was still willing to sleep in the shared bed after today, no matter how much Kip was trying to tell him that he didn’t need this anymore.

The thought of Cassidy still refusing gave him the chills, his response even more so.

“Maybe you don’t. But who says that I don’t?”

If Kip hadn’t been confused about everything before, he sure had been again after that. All his efforts to push Cassidy away, even slightly, to stop the inevitable that was happening in his head were rendered effortless. Useless. Just like how he felt most nights, most days, which was exactly why he was in this predicament to begin with.

Because he needed help. It had taken its sweet time for him to acknowledge that fact, but as soon as he had accepted it, Kip knew there was no turning back. The moment he allowed the one who he had been his sworn enemy to help him, there was no way anything was going to be like before ever again.

And he was terrified of that thought. And nothing he tried made it go away, anything Kip did either made it worse or stronger. He couldn’t fight it, only hide it. And he was sure at this point that he was fucking awful in that as well.

He could navigate the bedroom in the almost pitch black darkness effortlessly, Kip had done this maybe a million times before. The extra thick curtains were a welcomed addition to help the sleepless nights, but at the same time Kip wished they weren’t thickening the air in the room right now. He was already having trouble breathing, the darkness feeling even more suffocating around him, making things even harder for him to grasp, as if they weren’t already confusing and driving him up the walls closing in around him.

All he wanted was to know if he was imagining it all or not. Why was that so fucking much to ask.

Taking a hesitant seat at the edge of the bed, Kip tried to steady his breathing. Closing his eyes, he ran hands over his face multiple times, trying to make sure he knew where he was, what time it was, the date, anything to ground him to his surroundings. His mind was swirling with a million thoughts faster than he could arrange them in a sensible order, but the soft carpet under his bare feet and the fingers drumming gently against his forehead kept him in one place in space at a time.

Not that it helped him breathe any easier, but at least knowing where he was and how things were going made him feel slightly less insane.

Kip could feel the bed slightly moving underneath him, but he didn’t pay it any mind. Maybe Cassidy was just tossing a bit, Kip knew he was a rather light sleeper on nights he wasn’t completely exhausted because of him. He had tried to be quiet, but maybe him getting on the bed was a bad move. Of course it was, Kip wasn’t known for making good moves in this life, that much was obvious.

An arm suddenly wrapped around his waist, securing him as it pulled Kip slightly better on the bed. He allowed the action, despite his mind telling him otherwise, but he was already numb to everything else. Pair of legs appeared on his sides, the touch grounding him as they slid down over the edge of the bed, right next to his own, one on each side. A warm body pressed against his back, one hand running through his hair, a face being pressed into the crook of his neck as Kip could feel the hot breath running down the inside of the back of his shirt.

“Hey.”

Kip knew the voice, he had expected it, and yet the jolt it sent through him was something he couldn’t explain. His hands slowly left his face, landing on his lap, not being sure what to do, how to behave. This was a situation he had found himself in too many times by now, and yet every time he was here, Kip didn’t know how to proceed. He felt so helpless, being held in arms that he both did and didn’t want to be in, not knowing what he was supposed to do. What he was allowed to do. And he hated it, and yet the words to express any of that were stuck in the throat that only allowed him to sob at moments like this.

He swallowed hard, not wanting to repeat the nights where things had gone down like this so many times before. He didn’t want that, but he didn’t know what else he was supposed to do.

Kip could feel the tears swelling in his eyes, trying to fight them back as much as possible without giving Cassidy a hint of it. Of course at this point he knew it was pointless, the other man was able to read him like an open book no matter the situation. It was just another reason why this hurt Kip so much, how he wasn’t able to hide anything but the things he desperately wanted Cassidy to see. He wasn’t sure if Cassidy was completely ignorant to those things, those feelings, but the fact that he never directly responded to any of them was giving Kip a really good hint where they were going with this whole thing.

“Kip --”

He didn’t want to hear it. Standing up, he still couldn’t escape the one arm that had snaked its way around his waist. He was held in place, firmly, yet gently, making sure he didn’t do anything drastic as he clearly wanted.

Feeling a hand grab a hold of his, Kip allowed himself to be pulled back down to the bed as Cassidy made him room for Kip to sit down next to him. There was no point fighting it, this would just end up like any other night. He was going to have a moment, they would talk it out, cuddle it out, that was going to be the end of it. He didn’t know why he thought it was going to be any different, but the thought that it wasn’t still ached his whole being more than any other night. The hand now holding his burning fingerprints on his skin that Kip never wanted to be able to wash away, but he knew that by the morning they would all be gone and he would have to start this painful circle all over again.

Kip could feel Cassidy looking at him, trying to observe the side of his face as Kip refused to look directly back at the man now sitting next to him. There was no point. Nothing was going to change.

He felt the hand leaving his, gently landing on his face, a thumb running over the cheek wet with tears that Kip didn’t even realize he had been crying.

“It’s going to be okay.”

Was it? Was it really? As long as Kip was concerned, no the fuck it wasn’t. But it was just another one of those thoughts that he couldn’t express, that he had to leave to burn inside of him until his lungs turned to ash so he couldn’t say anything anymore, even if he finally wanted to. And that was a thing he could never tell Cassidy. The one person that was supposed to be his worst enemy in this whole wide fucking world.

“It’s --”

“Is it?”

His voice was so quiet, but Kip could feel Cassidy tense as he heard the two words. His hand stopped on his face, Kip could have sworn he was looking at him with surprised, widened eyes, if he could have made out most of his features in the dark. Kip finally looked at him, confirming his suspicions to the best of his ability behind his own tears.

“Is it really?”

Cassidy just looked back at him, remaining silent. The oh so familiar silence that was driving Kip insane, up the wall, what have you. He had lost the ability to read its meaning a lot of times ever since they had become closer, and he didn’t like that. Cassidy used to be so easy to look at and see what he was thinking, and now every time Kip tried, nothing seemed to make sense. His own feelings thrown into the mix absolutely did jackshit to help with the situation, but even before then, before the realization, most of the time he was just lost when looking at the blond and trying to dig some kind of an explanation out of him and his voiceless self.

“…It will be.”

“How?”

Kip didn’t intend to snap at him, but he couldn’t stop himself before the word slipped out, laced with the venom of disbelief. At this point he was sure Cassidy was just making it up as he went along, trying the same things and same words that had previously worked, being oblivious to the fact that Kip was starting to grow immune to his fruitless efforts of comfort. On some level Kip obviously still believed him, like he had always done, hearing those words of encouragement and comfort still got to him, but at the same time he had started to believe that they were nothing but that, words without any deeper meaning behind them. Just noises to fill the dead air in hopes that they distracted him for long enough until Kip either forgot what he was struggling with or Cassidy could come up with better ones.

“How the fuck is it ever going to be okay? How is this supposed to get better if nothing ever fucking changes?”

“If you want it to change, maybe you have to try to do something about it.”

It was like something clicked inside of him, pushing Kip to the move. He wasn’t sure in hindsight if Cassidy had meant it as he took it, as an open invitation to close the gap between them and with a single shift motion move himself into his lap, but that’s how Kip ended up taking it. The blond was almost caught by surprise as he suddenly had Kip so close, but he didn’t try to push him away, instead his hands helped to steady him in place.

Only after his hands were already on the back of his head, Kip froze in place, realizing the direction he was pushing this. Even in the darkness he could see Cassidy almost too intensely staring back at him, neither of them moving an inch, waiting for the other to do something about the sudden shift in the situation.

“I-I…”

Kip’s voice drifted off, his head dipping down first, forehead pressing against Cassidy’s. He couldn’t explain any of this even if he wanted to, at least not without sounding like he was losing his mind more than he already was. The days and nights that had slipped past so far, so many that he barely remembered, had unexplainably been building up to this moment, and now he was too scared to do anything about it. Anything he wanted to say was stuck in his throat, the actions he wanted to take made him freeze in place worse than the anxiety he had felt leading up to this.

He had Cassidy right where he wanted, inches away, and he couldn’t even bring himself to look him in the eyes anymore. It was all so overwhelmingly much, all way too suddenly than he had prepared himself for. 

Thankfully, it was Cassidy that tilted his head upwards, closing the gap to press a soft kiss on Kip’s lips first. He didn’t reply back to it, his mind yelling at him that this wasn’t how it was supposed to go, that this was nothing but a sick fucking joke being played on him. Cassidy had him by his mind, by his feelings, none of this was as real as Kip wanted, as he was hoping for.

“Hey…”

Kip could feel a small, soft track of kisses being traced down his cheek and his neck, sending shivers down his spine. The jolt pushed him over the line, finally getting some sort of control over his body in this situation he had put himself in, grabbing Cassidy by the shoulders and shoving him down against the bed. Hovering above him, Kip tried to steady his breathing, watching as the confused eyes looked back up at him from the disheveled blond.

“I… I need to hear you say it.”

Kip could feel the hands snaking their way around his neck, gently pulling him closer. He resisted, insisting on doing this first. “I need you to say it.”

Cassidy looked back at him, not being entirely sure where this was going as Kip shook his head back at his silence.

“I need to hear it. I…”

Kip leaned in closer by his own will, stealing a quick kiss from his lips. He wanted to do so much more, but he couldn’t before he would know this was real. That this wasn’t just a trick, not his mind lying to him, this wasn’t happening just because Cassidy thought it would fix him. No, Kip needed to know this was because he wanted it, because they both wanted it, before he could allow himself to proceed.

“I love you.”

Cassidy remained silent for a moment, Kip could feel the heat creeping up his cheeks as the words finally left his lips, burning his insides harder than they ever did when he couldn’t say them out loud. It was out of his hands now, all the hope he had he had put out there in the world. All he could do was hope that this wasn’t a fragment of his imagination like so many other things before, that this one thing he could feel with his whole being was actually real.

Kip was certain he could see a smile, before he was pulled down to Cassidy’s level by the back of his head.

“I love you too, Kip.”

The voice was barely a whisper, the last word of it melting into the kiss Cassidy pulled him into.

His eyes fluttering open, Kip started at the ceiling of the bedroom for a moment. He didn’t remember falling asleep, he had no idea what time it was, what day it was, what anything it was. The only thing he knew was that the bed and the bedroom were familiar to him, and the tingling feeling on his lips was something he had carried with him since last night.

His head slightly tilting to the side, his eyes dimmed a little at the sight of the empty half of the bed next to him. His hand lazily reached for the pillow, only to find it cold – it was obvious Cassidy had been up for some time now, without bothering to wake him up. That’s how this usually went, as Kip was the one out of the two of them that needed more rest in his currently still mostly messed up state.

Except after last night, Kip might have expected something to change, but…

Pushing the thought aside, he carefully sat up, observing his surroundings. The room was fairly dim still but he could at least see, so at least it should be day time. Getting up from the bed, Kip fished a pair of socks from the drawer, slipping them on before making his way out of the bedroom. As soon as he opened the door, he was attacked with a bolt of sunlight, but for the first time in forever it didn’t feel like it was immediately too much for him. Kip still had to shield his eyes a bit as he made his way down the stairs, but it honestly didn’t feel too bad.

Kip actually had to admit, his entire being felt lighter than it had in the previous days, weeks, maybe months at this point. He had honestly lost count how much time had passed since he had lost the title and Cassidy had started to care for him, but at this point Kip felt better than he ever had since that fateful night when everything had started to go downhill for him.

He headed towards the kitchen, hearing the water running over there. Kip stopped at the doorway, a little smile crossing his lips as he watched the shirtless blond make an attempt to prepare breakfast, turning the coffee maker on before he focused on getting the toast into the toaster. As he wrapped the bread bag shut and turned on his heels to head towards the fridge, Cassidy froze in place briefly as he saw Kip standing there, clearly not having heard him come in.

“…Hey.”

Kip nodded back to him, watching as Cassidy walked up to him, grabbing him by the hand and leading him to the kitchen table, gently sitting him down. “I was going to bring you something upstairs.”

Kip chuckled at him a little as he took a seat by the table. “It’s okay, at least we won’t get crumbs in the bed.”

Cassidy stopped, looking at him for a moment. It was so rare to see him without the sunglasses, but Kip could have sworn he also had a much brighter energy to him, something he had rarely seen from Cassidy before. Kip’s smile slowly faded from his lips, him tilting his head in a slightly concerned manner. “Is… Is something wrong?”

“No,” Cassidy finally replied after a short silence, smiling back at him. “I just… Realized something.”

Before Kip could question him further, Cassidy grabbed him by the front of his t-shirt, pulling him closer for a soft, deep kiss.

So it all really wasn’t just in his head, after all.

I view and thus characterize Aloy as someone who knows what she wants--[Insert Your Preferred Romantic Choice Here]--but has no idea how to approach getting it.

This is drawn from two canon moments in particular: 1) her wistful "It's like I'm dead and only come alive when I'm here with [Atral]. Do you know what that's like?" / "I...can't say that I do" exchange with Elida in HZD and 2) the oddly-specific list of romantic activities she spits at Avad if you select the fist option during his conversation in HFW (clearly she hasn't been thinking about those things at all. not at all).

This makes me think she wouldn't need to be seduced, exactly. I think her feelings would most likely be organic, but guarded.

And while it's possible to let the feelings win while the world's ending [looks directly at Shepard] I do think the other party would most likely have to approach Aloy first, even if seduction isn't the right word for it. I think anyone who'd want to be with Aloy would see the playing field as very, very even (because, in every case, it is!). I agree that Petra's directness would be a boon for her--especially compared to Talanah, who's likely still grappling with a lot of confusion of her own. I think I posted a few days ago about how I'd imagine a Feelings Confession would go between those two, but yeah, a heartfelt and vulnerable conversation for sure.

I hope this answers your questions!! I really, really do like spitballing about this side of Aloy's character development and appreciate the ask a LOT!
