So concept

Yuu is the eldest and comes from a HUGE family with lots of siblings that are part of criminal legacy. Literally all of them are some sort of mafia boss, assassin, drug lord, or bank robber except for Yuu.

This isn't because Yuu hates it, nope its just not their thing. Their little siblings always go to Yuu for ideas on their next murder/heist/ect and they always give the best advice ever despite not being a criminal.

When they get isekaied, they didn't know that their family also came with until its too late.

Let's say they're dating Floyd since that was the original context. Under cut cause length

It's Vargas camp and as things come to a close there's another attack, the masked person overpowers Vargas and locks onto a group.of Yuus friends, chasing the first Years, Riddle, Malleus, Jade and Floyd.

The others scatter, just to get stuck in (non lethal) traps to be picked off later. The killer is smart and though Malleus is powerful he is outwitted when he caught in magic resistant trap— this damn killer was PLANNING it.

Floyd and the group fight back. But they are all beat up pretty bad, thankfully, there is no stab marks as the psychopath seems to be dragging this out for their enjoyment.

As they kick Floyd onto the ground as they spill the first drop of blood of the night as the killer slashes them and leaves a "superficial", but concerning wound on Floyds abdomen.

Jade screams out at his brother in horror, show more emotion than he ever has in this damn life, despite where he's trapped, he risks blot and shoots out a simple spell at the killers head just for them to dodge.

"You want to see my face that badly?" The voice was filled with a sickeningly honeyed tone of amusement. "I guess that's fair since I intend to kill you... may as well let you see who killed you."

"You wont get away with this!" Sebek shrieks. The killer takes off the mask just to see... Yuu?

"Yuu? No...nonono not my shrimpy... why?! Why would you—"

"Wait wait wait. Did you say Yuu? How the fuck do you know that name?" The killer asks but something was off, this wasn't yuus voice.

Just then Yuu comes out and slide in front of Floyd protectively, ready to fight before freezing.

"TUU?!"

"Yuu?! Oh God, oh shit. Don't tell me these are your friends..."

"You stabbed my fucking boyfriend!"

"Fuck! Sorry I didn't know— oh geez...." Tuu facepalms. "Hold on, I actually have a few healing potions..."

"Um... can you explain???" Riddle wheeze.

"Everyone this one of my my Octuplets, Tuu."

"OCTUPLET??" Sebek shrieks.

"Yeah that's not even all my siblings either, don't ask I lost count"

"Damn I'm sorry about that everyone, I would have never attacked if I knew Yuu was here. But dammit, I had it all planned out and everything! I would kill off some of you and leave your bodies out so that others would warn of this place and bam! A buncha idiots would explore and I get to practice my assassinations and murder techniques! Can't believe I wasted all that time though now....".

"Wait, Yuu why aren't you surprised?" Ace gawks

"Oh big sibling Yuu over here is weird. Literally everyone in our family's a murderer EXCEPT yuu which is suprising since they always have the best ideas for maiming!" Tuu giggles

"Wait... if your here does that mean—" a new voice interrupts Yuu

"Sort of! I assume our entire family is out in this new world but we haven't all been able to find each other. Thankfully, me and Tuu happened to be summoned together!"

"Who the fuck is that?!" Jack barks

"That's Kyu." Kyu stands proudly in their formal attire that's decades old as they twirl a cigar.

"Why didn't you reach out to me? I know Tuu is to busy murdering things but I know for a fact you knew where I was. Im the oldest! You report to me!" yuu scolds

"You're older by 10 minutes." Tuu interrupts as they pour the potion on Floyd.

"Shut up!"

Kyu shrugs. "I'm building a criminal empire."

"What" Deuce blinks.

"I said im building a criminal empire. I was the leader of several mafias and other organized gangs back in my world and now its back to square one! I need my underlings I'm not just gonna light my own cigars now, cmon!"

"That sounds like Kyu alright..." Yuu sighs.

"Plus then I'll be able to magically enroll our whole family into NRC just with a little blackmail as we learn about this world!"

"Crowleys pathetic you don't need a criminal empire you just need 5 dollars" Epel sighs.

"Perhaps." Kyuu shrugs again and takes a puff. "But having an interdimensional drug empire once we find away home is an opportunity I must not let pass by. Speaking of which, give me your phone, Yuu."

Yuu hands over the phone to Kyu. "Now you should be able to contact us and I'll keep you updated once I find the whole family. Oh yeah, be sure to send pictures of all your friends to the group chat along with their full names so we know who not to kill, maim, target—"

"I get it." Yuu sighs before helping Floyd up. "I love you guys but damn!"

"You love th—" Ace covers Deuces mouth.

"Sorry Floydie!" Tuu chuckles cuteley. "I hope this doesn't make things awkward between us! Oh just forget about this encounter! I can't wait to meet you when Yuu brings you home for dinner!" Tuu waves

"Eat shit." Floyd huffs. "Awe you're adorable, just take good care of Yuu! If you break their heart ill slaughter you like the damn animal you are!~" tuu practially sings

"Yuu can do that on their own." "But they won't that's the issue"

Tuu sighs again. "Now im gonna have to release everyone from their traps now ueueueu... there were so many boys with such wearable skin! I already had the suit planned out for when I got them!" Tuu mopes.

"Right just tell our parents—" "bosses" "tell our bosses i love them and to please take it easy with all the murder please."

"No promises Yuuie!~ bye bye!~" Tuu cackles and they run off into the woods and Ryu dissapears

The rest of the night is Yuu profusely apologizing and having to skirt around questions for legal reasons

Let say MC/Yuu was an ordinary high school student studying to be an engineer before being transported to Twisted Wonderland.

They’re very intelligent, and somehow kept up with their friendly facade.

Well, they don’t always act nice.

They’re actually a serial killer continuing the works of John Kramer A.K.A. The Original Jigsaw Killer.

MC/Yuu has kidnapped and forced terrible people to participating in their sick and twisted games to give them a second chance in life to become better.

Law Enforcement were already tracking down who killed the victims and they didn’t suspect a high-schooler to be the one behind the murders.

Once they traveled to Twisted Wonderland, the first part is the same.

Grim discovers them.

Crowley drags them (plus Grim) to the ceremony.

Except this time, The Dark Mirror sees something through MC/Yuu’s soul that should not be provoked.

The mirror would keep shut about their dark secret as it also senses if it slips up, MC/Yuu will go after for blood.

Crowley would be oblivious and to some students, too.

Except for others who may suspect something is off about MC/Yuu, but can’t figure out why.

Also they adopted Grim as their “apprentice.”

I know it's not halloween just yet but for singer Yuu for them making a secret concert somewhere out in the forest that the students who got the invite or knows about it comes as long as they keep it hush hush

The opening Song is Pet Semetary by the StarCrawlers or I wanna be your dog from the Curella movie

Yuu dressed in a high waisted riped jeans a crop top and a red fanel shirt with some zombie makeup

OOOO I might do I wanna be your dog later when I get the other asks done! But rn ima do the Pet Semetary!

So yes it was Halloween and it was Yuu's turn to do a special little treat AND trick for everyone.

The treat was that if you got a lottle doll that had an animal mask with blood on it it was an invitation to the Forest concert they made for close friends or people they were ok with. They had it DEEP in the Mine for the spooky level to go through the roof! They even got Malleus to enchant the doll and the forest that only people with the doll can come. And if they try to come they end in a dark Scary part of the school that everyone avoids.

Yuu was in a high waisted shorts with tares in them, a crop top saying slasher that has Jason on it, a flannel that is torn and bloodied. They even made a mark on their throat showing they were decapitated. They made cool mold on them showing they were dead for a long time. Vil helped with the make up ovi. They have platforms on too that are red, black, and spiky. They had a bloodied mask like the children have on the album. Blood red lipstick is on their lips with dark smokey eyes shadow that makes their eyes look sunken. So yeah Yuu truly did out themselves this Halloween!

Okay so the concert is deep in the mines everyone made sure that there was no overbloat. So when they started to decorate the ghost asked if they could spook the guests Yuu agreed only if they don't go too far. And so there was now ghosts helping them. They scattered fake blood everywhere. They kept the skeletons of the ones who died after getting the okay from them as long as no one touches it.

The big hitter guys were the security. Vil, Kalim, Riddle and Idia were incharge of the decorations. Vil made it look so good he worked on a few horror movies so he had a big help in finding good things to use!, Kamil got a few cursed objects that his family had and made sure that everyone knew not to touch it. Riddle made sure that everyone didn't slip up infront fo the teachers about the hush hush concert. Idia made blue fire appear in the mines but it can't hurt you. He also brought tech to make fog roll on the floor of the Mines. He also got a recorder of screams to play so often to freak people out.

So it was a day before Halloween and everyone so far haven't said anything about the concert because of Riddle. Everyone meet up at Ramshackle and Yuu then began to give orders of getting ready and getting the gear to the Mines so they could blast so much music. When they got there they made sure that Malleus left a portal to the concert in Ramshackle. He also Enchanted the Mines to cancel out the music coming out. People slowly filled in the Mine Jamil and Trey were incharge of the food. Lilia was distracted with getting a LOT of bats in there. It was perfect every so often a boy would scream because of the ghosts but it was all good.

Yuu got up there "Hey everyone one! Who's ready for the bEST HALLOWEEN EVER!" The crowd cheers loudly as Yuu begins the lyrics.

"Under the arc of a weather stain boards. Ancient goblins and warlords! Come out of the ground, not making a sound! The smell of death is all around And the night when the cold wind blows! No one cares, nobody knows~"

The crowd got wild as they gave chills down their spine because of the creepy song.

"I don't want to be buried in a pet sematary! I don't want to live my life again! I don't want to be buried in a pet sematary! I don't want to live my life again!"

The cheers got louder it echoed in the mines along with the screams of boys getting spooked by the ghosts.

"Follow Victor to the sacred place! This ain't a dream, I can't escape! Molars and fangs, the clicking of bones! Spirits moaning among the tombstones!"

The ghosts did loud moans when they did the last part freaking out some of the boys.

"And the night, when the moon is bright! Someone cries, something ain't right"

Jack and a few other werebeast men let out howls.

"I don't want to be buried in a pet sematary! I don't want to live my life again! I don't want to be buried in a pet sematary! I don't want to live my life again!"

The boys smiled as they saw Yuu was having so much fun sing out these lyrics like there was no tomorrow. And also glad the teachers didn't find this out yet.

"The moon is full, the air is still! All of a sudden I feel a chill~ Victor is grinning, flesh rotting away Skeletons dance, I curse this day! And the night when the wolves cry out~ Listen close and you can hear me shout!"

The air did get colder after Yuu belted out that verse but it made the boys want to listen to this song even more! The werebeastmen let out more howls.

"I don't want to be buried in a pet sematary! I don't want to live my life again! I don't want to be buried in a pet sematary! I don't want to live my life again!"

The crowd dance and screamed for more from Yuu as they got closer to finishing the song but the screams and excitement made them want to do more! Well see if next Halloween they'll do this again!

"Oh no, oh no~ I don't want to live my life, not again! Oh no no no, oh no no no~ I don't want to live my life, not again!"

When they finished the fog got thicker and the lights went out and to freak them out further Malleus let out a evil cackle and Yuu screamed in fright. The crowd screamed and them there were bright lights showing Malleus and Yuu laughing at everyone

Malleus grabbed the mic

"HAPPY HALLOWEEN MUAHAHAH!"

Let's just say some peed their pants. But after the party everyone complemented Yuu on their singing and asked if Yuu was goign to try and be a big time singer. Yuu shrugged "I'll think about it!" And with that the all hollows eve was done!

So I had this big idea of something I wanted to do for my mutuals. So basically, my love language is gift-giving, right? I wanted to draw a headshot and a little sketch page of the yuusonas/yuus (or just any character of my mutuals) and gift it to them!! Either for being my mutual and putting up with my incoherent daily screaming or whatever.

Now here's what happened:

Life happened, not enough time happened, and at one point I started to really dislike how I drew the current headshots :')))). My style had begun to change when I looked back on this and it bugged me so much that I'm currently abandoning this batch and starting from square one again orz.

Regardless, the characters (in order from left to right) belong to @ai-0uch, @twstlibrary, and @twstedstoryshop !! So sorry that I didn't do your characters justice

While I have to develop the lore more, there is this specific Savanaclaw student who particularly likes giving Ru a hard time. I just wanted to draw the aftermath of said fight! You'll see that his clothes are a bit burnt at some parts and that's because it's hard to win a fight where magic is being used against you

eyy I finished the heartslaybul chapter so thoughts? musings? below the cut

the prologue was so long oh my god. that in itself isn't neccessarily a problem per se, but once we hit the story proper there's still episodes early on dedicated to exposition and worldbuilding. i really feel like the former could have been condensed but 🤷‍♂️

im trying not to compare too much to a3 here since that's my sole point of reference

ace is the incarnation of every male classmate i remember in high school. whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen.

after initially being overlooked, deuce skyrocketed to the top of my list halfway through the story. pure of heart, dumb of ass, former delinquent gap moe. i want to see him get on the honor roll.

im willing to ignore cater's more...grating characteristics as a creative localization choice, but right now he feels like a shallow knock-off of kazunari

which brings me back to my second point because hey! it's still early on, there's still a chance he'll get more development later. but I'd say the majority of a3 characters were fully fleshed out by the end of their introductory books, while the main characters at the end of this one still feel a little flat

although i would have liked to see more of him earlier on, riddle was great. i have to give a shout-out to whoever voiced the extras because the absolute terror in their performance(s) really escalated the tone from "dealing with bitchy prefect" to "slasher horror movie". also to natsuki hanae's performance, especially the mental breakdown.

"i've created the perfect child" you've fucked up a perfectly good kid is what you've done. look at it. it's got anxiety.

in my mind yuu carries around a spray bottle and spritzes their feral gremlin cat monster thing whenever he acts Like That <3

the amount of reader insert smut for this fandom is so optimistic you KNOW none of these boys have ever had sex

side note, really appreciated the nods and easter eggs to classic disney films! felt like a missed opportunity not having the ghosts be referencing haunted mansion, but oh well

it's a shame the music is limited to a few songs and bgm, because those absolutely slap. i can close my eyes during the op and clearly envision someone going absolutely ham on the violin.

I really have a strange mind when it comes to ideas: What if Yuu was the distant relative to one of the legacy protagonists from the 'Scream' movies? Like they were the distant cousin to Sidney Prescott that comes to Woodsburo to help her end the Ghostface attacks, only for them to be nearly killed by Ghostface himself until they hide in a coffin that ends up sending them to Night Raven College? They would follow the typical rules of surviving a horror movie, believing that the next Ghostface is among the students and staff of NRC.

Well, this took a long while. Hehe, anyway I mostly haven’t seen the Scream movies (aside from the one who had Billy and Stu in it but that was years ago and I don’t really remember the events happening there) so I just took creative liberties on this one and made Yuu a self-aware horror slasher character instead? I think I did... Anyway, I hope that's alright, ahahaha!

Note that slasher is a genre of horror where the killer stalks and murders a group of people with bladed tools. Meaning that the villains are humans so Yuu’s experiences only deal with those and not of the supernatural horror kind.

I'm just here to mix-and-match different kinds of Yuus with different kinds of personalities to see what monstrosity I can make. That being said,,, Slasher Genre Aware!Yuu brainrot!

So, born from the slasher genre and raised in the scenes of violence without a break, a paranoid Yuu was transported to another world.

They wake up and find themselves trapped inside a small space and panic but they try to calm themselves down, knowing panicking won’t do anything in a situation like this.

They would know, they’ve been in the same situation before after all. Multiple times.

They do what they do best and get information from what limited senses they have, straining their ears to hear someone mumbling outside from where they were and proceed to play unconscious when they notice whoever it was trying to open the lid.

They turned out to be inside a coffin. Great. At least they weren’t dead. That’s something.

Grim successfully opens the coffin and rejoices when he saw that there was a robe he could take and the person who was wearing it was still ‘unconscious’.

Too caught up in his celebration, Yuu takes this chance to swiftly step out of the coffin and pushes Grim inside, closing the lid on him before booking it.

Of course with a quick mind that came with years of being always on the line of life and death where their every quick decision could decide if they get to survive or not, Yuu immediately notices that their ‘could-be-killer’ was a talking, flaming cat/raccoon.

Of course they also notice they’re in an entirely different place.

“Fuck! Figures after all these years with murderers and killers trying to kill me, humans aren’t just enough now. Life just has to throw a talking cat at me.”

But they’ve always been great at improvising and adapting in whatever situation they’re in so they just have to survive this one, right? Right…?

Yuu immediately arm themselves with whatever makeshift weapon they could find and cautiously continues on their way in the unknown territory.

Of course, when Crowley arrives from out of nowhere with a bound Grim in tow, Yuu had already felt their presence and was already attacking Crowley with vicious accuracy.

But even if Crowley is bad at being responsible as a headmaster, we can’t deny that he’s also skilled so while Yuu did surprise him at first, he regains his bearings immediately and deflects the attacks.

“My word! Are you trying to kill me?!”

“Tsk, better you than me.”

"What?"

Crowley has suspicions of Yuu at first but since time was ticking and he couldn’t deal with a student who he believes was a troublemaker who likes to fight others for no reason at all, he just binds Yuu with his whip like what he’d done to Grim and dragged them both to the Mirror Chamber.

Yuu knows a lost battle when they see one so they let themselves be dragged around but they haven’t given up. Oh no, they never do.

And it seemed that Crowley wasn’t trying to kill them and seemed to have assumed that they were a student of the school so they could safely assume that they were momentarily safe.

Instead, with the time they have, they do whatever they can to memorize the layout of where they’re going while also subtly testing how strong the whips were.

When they arrive at the ceremony hall where they see a lot of people wearing a robe, they initially thought they were in a cult and they could practically feel their stomach drop. They aren’t sure how well they can hold a slasher cult off.

What now? Where they going to be tortured? Gutted? Was there some kind of ritual that could delay their death and give them enough time to think of something?

So they were quite surprised when they were placed in front of a mirror that had a face in it, safe and unharmed.

So anyway, fast forward and the ceremony proceeds as normal.

By now, Yuu has already noticed that there’s something weird happening and somehow they’ve deducted that they’ve either been kidnapped by a cult who were avid fantasy fans and were very dedicated to very realistic-looking special effects or that they were somehow transported into another world.

They keep quiet all throughout the ceremony, though. They wouldn’t want to arouse any potential killers hidden among the crowd by doing something impulsive. As the saying goes, don’t startle the snake by beating the grass.

The less anyone knows anything about them, the better their chance for survival.

So, after being interrogated by Crowley about where they come from and receiving minimal answers, they were allowed to stay in Ramshackle which, when Yuu first saw it, almost made them foam from the mouth and gave them a heart attack.

Ramshackle Dorm was literally the perfect place to get killed. It had the vibes, the looks, and the spooks to it but what choice does Yuu have?

At least they were used to having homecourt advantage with being experienced in a possibly deadly house rather than living in the forest where new and even deadlier things could kill them.

They acquire the conveniently placed shovel just leaning against the fence outside of soon-to-be dorm.

“Why are bringing that shovel?”

“Protection, what else?”

“Whatever you may have had in your previous world, I assure you doesn’t exist here. You’re safe here.”

“Well, that’s what they always say and look where they ended up. Six-feet underground…”

Crowley: *visible concern*

So anyway, Yuu says violence is the answer to everything when confronted with what they believe to be a deadly situation even when it isn’t.

That shovel they got outside of Ramshackle? On their person at all times now. They can’t be separated from it no matter what anyone tries to do. They even bring it with them when they sleep.

They hold no mercy for anyone who tries to rapidly get into their personal space. Lilia gets bonked on the head multiple times but he doesn't acknowledge it or change his smiling expression.

Yuu trust Grim a little bit. Grim managed to hesitantly convince them that with his fire, anyone who tried to hurt them would be kebab and that if they were planning on kill them, they should've done so already.

While Yuu was wary of Grim, Deuce, and Ace and their intentions at first, they soon categorize them to be a ‘would-be-victim’ after the mine incident and had an 'oh god, if killers were after them they would be dead already' epiphany.

This means that Yuu becomes protective of them and try to help hone their danger sense because it’s obvious these three won’t last against a determined murderer.

“So Deuce, Ace, Grim, what would you do if there was someone who broke into your house in the middle of the night?”

“Uh… Ask what they’re doing in my house…?”

“Easy, hide in my room.”

“Hah! The Great Grim will burn them!”

“Deuce, you’re going to be the first one to die. Ace, good idea but it could be even better. You should immediately find a way outside and gain as much distance you can from the intruder while also contacting authority who actually gives a damn for once. Grim, that only applies if you have something to burn them with but since you’re basically a breathing, walking, talking flamethrower, I’ll accept that answer. Don’t be dependent on your flames, though. Okay, next. What do you do when you hear a sound in your kitchen but you live alone?”

Yuu always tries to vibe check them out of nowhere so you have to understand how these three gained fast reflexes.

Yuu also decorated their room like a detective on a murder case would, with pictures of the people living in school as well as staff put up on the wall with connecting strings and pins.

“Human, what are you doing?”

“Trying to find out who’s the most likely killer in school. I’m betting it’s this one. Look at that suspicious face.”

“… That’s Kalim… Also, there’s no killer here. It’s just a normal school.”

“Yeah and it’s always the unassuming ones. Never ever assume the killer’s nowhere near you. They’re always there…”

Yeah, Yuu’s very wary of the sunshine boy.

Yuu’s actually proud of Epel when he joins their braincell group because he always answers the best in hypothetical situations and is the most trigger happy.

“What do you do if you see the killer fall on the ground, dead?”

“They're not dead yet until I say they are. I break their kneecaps and take away all their weapons for myself and then use those weapons on them.”

So, the overblots…

Since Yuu already used to being constantly chased by slasher villains, they’ve learned to be pretty athletic, resourceful, and quick on their feet.

While they may be paranoid of being attacked and would rather permanentlyget rid of any threats towards them, Yuu can’t bring themselves to hurt the overblot boys... Too much, that is.

There’s just that very huge difference between a slasher who’s hellbent and stalking and killing you and someone who was having a mental breakdown and decided to take it out on you for reasons.

They go for quick hits where they know could instantly incapacitate them.

For the most part, Yuu doesn’t really suspect the overblot boys because in their words, “Killers aren’t usually very open of their intentions.”

Also Yuu after the first overblot,,,

“I have a feeling this isn’t a one-time thing…”

A few events later...

Someone else: *overblots*

Yuu: *already behind the person who overblotted with a shovel in hand*

Yuu doesn’t say it but they have contingency plan for everybody in the school, even for their close friends just in case it turns out they want to kill them.

It’s sad but that’s the life they’ve lived and ever known. Perhaps the others can help them open up their feelings in the future...

Also, Yuu’s shocked that (most of) the adults are actually responsible for the well-being of the students.

They’ve met a lot of incompetent adults who won’t believe them whenever they try to ask for help and those that do usually end up dead so it’s a big surprise to see ones who were competent AND still alive.

They’ve also killer-proofed Ramshackle. Every room has a thing that can be used as a weapon, whether it’s a stick, a pen, a crowbar, or a simple towel.

The windows are all boarded up and if ever someone tries to go through it, they’d have to check where they’re stepping cause there are sharp things just waiting to be stepped on.

sugawara koushi – black christmas ; dir. bob clark – suga chose black christmas because he likes the air of mystery surrounding it and it’s vague ending. he also thinks it’s fun to pick apart all of the ways black christmas inspired golden age slasher films to come and enjoys its unique murders!

azumane asahi – friday the 13th ; dir. sean s. cunningham – you definitely had to coerce him into having a slasher date night, managing to get him to say yes by promising that he could pick the film. he chooses friday the 13th purely because it’s one of the less gory golden age slashers (gore makes him nauseous :( he’s squeamish!), and because he likes the twist at the end!

nishinoya yuu – child’s play ; dir. tom holland – noya just finds chucky hilarious. he’s crude as heck and the whole concept is ridiculous to him, which just makes the film a fun watch. you wont be scared, because noya will manage to make a joke out of everything and have you laughing until your stomach hurts.

hinata shoyo – silent night, deadly night ; dir. charles e. sellier jr. – hinata’s picking silent night, deadly night, because he’s really intrigued by the concept of mixing christmas with halloween/horror, and appreciates the macabre way christmas elements are infused with the murders/plot. he already thought there was something so terrifying about santa claus as a figure, so it totally makes sense to him to have a serial killer dress up as the jolly man and absolutely gives him the creeps!

kageyama tobio – terror train ; dir. roger spottiswoode – he thinks the costume idea is really cool and clever, and that the concept of being stuck on a moving train with a serial killer in the middle of nowhere is legitimately terrifying, even if the film itself is really predictable! (he also strikes me as a dude who thinks trains are neat idk why???). additionally, he thinks jamie lee curtis is a fricken badass (because she is).

tanaka ryuunosuke – the texas chainsaw massacre 2 ; dir. tobe hooper – tanaka’s bringing over tcm2! released twelve years after the first tcm, tcm2 is a parody of both its original film and classical teenage movies from the 80s (the poster is a parody of the breakfast club’s poster, tanaka will tell you this no less than three times) and tanaka appreciates its witty humor and callbacks to the original film.

tsukishima kei – peeping tom ; dir. michael powell – this pretentious boy has chosen another classic, the other film credited as the very start of the slasher subgenre. he appreciates its intelligent storytelling and innovative cinematography that comments on the voyeuristic nature of cinema as an art form itself.

yamaguchi tadashi – a bay of blood ; dir. mario bava – yamaguchi surprises you when he puts on giallo classic a bay of blood (aka ecologia del delitto; reazione a catena; carnage; twitch of the death nerve; and blood bath). despite it’s extremely gruesome and gory nature, he tells you he likes it because, in his mind, it’s not too realistic thanks to the bright red blood that looks like paint and the over the top acting, two of the film’s most iconic and lovable features.

Slasher Manga Kichikujima Gets Cute Short Form TV Anime Adaptation

  Fans that are familiar with Kichikujima (known in English as "Freak Island"), a gruesome slasher horror manga by Masaya Hokozono about a family of monstrous serial killers running amok on a deserted island, will be surprised to learn that the series is cute an unlikely anime adaptation in the form of a cute, short form series entitled Kaoru no Taisetsu na Mono ("Kaoru's Precious Things") which will broadcast in Japan on BS NTV beginning in November.

I lost my words. 

Ajin itu gak bagus! 

Sangat gak bagus untuk kesehatan jantung gue. 

Gimana gak? Sutradaranya berani-beraninya naro cast macam Go Ayano dan Yuu Shirota di jajaran antagonis untuk menjadi super villain. Dan di tengah-tengah, Chibai Yuda yang super imut bergabung bersama mereka 

Udah pasti lah dengan kemampuan actingnya, Shirota Yuu beradegan tembak dan one on one fight dengen kerennnya! mana pas pertama kali keluar nunjukin idung mancungnya doang lagi! udah tahu kelebihan dia emang di idung mancungnya itu! Bikin CLBK aja kan bikin emosi dan bingung mau pilih sisi baik atau jahat bisa memerankan super villain no.2 dengan sangat baik. 

Ayano Go juga gak usah dibilang lah ya, dengan track record acting yang sederet, udah pasti dengan sangat baiknya memerankan seorang ajin atau Demi Human yang disiksa dan dibunuh selama 20 tahun plus bonus body sixpack ala roti sobek yang diperlihatkan full body menjelang akhir. 

Di sisi lain, ada Takeru Satoh yang berperan sebagai Ajin yang memihak sisi manusia dimana dibalut perban keliatan matanya aja udah ganteng maksimal sebenarnya dia gak paham kenapa semua kejadian ini menimpa dia, yang dia mau hanya ingin menolong adiknya yang sedang sekarat. 

Mode Serius : 

Pertama kali prolog voice overnya bergulir, gue menyangka Ajin /  Demi-human yang dimaksud itu semacam penjaga bumi macam Webtoon Born After Death. Webtoon dari Indonesia ini menceritakan tentang sekumpulan manusia yang udah mati namun bangkit lagi sebagai penjaga bumi dan bisa regenerasi juga. 

Namun ternyata film dibuka dengan adegan Kei Nagai (Takeru Sato), seorang koas rumah sakit yang sedang mengalami penyiksaan luar biasa di lab. Tanpa dibius sama sekali, dipotong tangannya, dipotong lututnya, lalu dibunuh oleh sekelompok manusia yang mengklaim dirinya jenius peneliti. Over and over. 

Di sini kita hanya bisa mendengar jeritan kesakitan Nagai yang tertahan oleh perbannya. Sadis luar biasa. 

Film bergulir dengan masuknya 2 Ajin lagi : Sato (Go Ayano) dan Tanaka (Yuu Shirota) yang berniat menyelamatkan Nagai dan mengajak bergabung di dalam gerakan pemberontakan Ajin terhadap manusia. 

Nagai, yang mempunyai misi untuk menyelamatkan adiknya, memilih untuk menjadi pihak netral dan tidak mau terlibat dalam pemberontakan apapun. 

Sato dan Tanaka pun melanjutkan pemberontakan mereka dengan dibantu sekelompok kecil Ajin lainnya, termasuk seorang hacker yang cukup sadis Masumi (Chibai Yuda). Walaupun mereka kalah jumlah, tapi karena mereka Ajin dan bisa reseting life, tentu saja pelan-pelan, kemenangan sudah berada di depan mata mereka. 

Thought : 

Chara super villainnya gak ada cela sama sekali! Raison d’etre (reason to believe) nya sangat kuat. Sebagai seorang Ajin yang dimanfaatkan manusia selama 20 tahun menjadi tikus percobaan membuat kita sangat memaklumi keinginan dia untuk jadi penguasa dan kemudian membunuh yang lemah. Ajin itu gak bisa mati, jadi merupakan ladang uang yang sangat sempurna sekali. Kapan lagi bisa dapet eksperimen langsung mobil versi beta, obat beracun, kekuatan senapan dan mesin penghancur semurah ini? Hanya dengan membunuh dan membunuh dan membunuh seorang Ajin yang gak bisa mati. Di sini kita malah mempertanyakan kewarasan pemerintah dan orang-orang yang memperalat Ajin. 

Di satu sisi, sebagai main chara, Kei Nagai masih menyisakan banyak pertanyaan : kapan dan bagaimana dia menjadi Ajin? sudah sadar menjadi Ajin dari kapan? dia itu koas kan? darimana mempelajari gerakan beladiri yang hebat untuk ngelawan super villainnya? 

In fact, selain super villainnya, plot holenya sih banyak banget! XD Gimana pertama kali muncul Ajin itu? itu virus? atau kekuatan mistis? Atau apa? 

Dimana Ajin yang lain? Terus itu Izuma as PA nya Tosaki kok lolos dari percobaan? 

Masih banyak pertanyaan lain yang sebenernya muncul selama nonton film ini. Tapi masih dimaafkan karena memang film ini diangkat dari manga populer disana. Sudah pasti all detail berada di manga. Dan ini menimbulkan harapan, akan dibuatnya sekuel-sekuel Ajin. 

Dari sisi cinematography Ajin ini cakep parah. Shoot-shoot cepat dari berbagai sisi mendukung scene pertempuran yang ada. Terus adegan di lab dan juga potong badan sana sini hanya digambarkan dengan raut muka orang dan jeritan kesakitan aja. Gak perlu vulgar tapi malah menambah kengerian. 

Untuk gue yang nonton Gantz aja pusing-pusing selama seminggu gak ilang karena lihat darah (fyi, genre slasher itu genre paling haram buat gue) penggambaran scene kaya gini cocok banget. 

Plus, tambahan-tambahan CGI untuk para ‘ghost’ nya Ajin. Two thumbs up. 

Adegan pesawat jatuh ke gedung? Wa itu cakep banget. 

Jadi apakah Ajin bagus? BAGUS BANGET!!! 

Notes : selepas filmnya selesai end credit di theater, gw langsung slow clap dan smiling ear to ear. Bodo amat pusing sendiri karena galau mau merhatiin pemaennya atau ceritanya. 

Parah kerenn parahhh lah. Pengen nonton lagi.
