There is a new wave in the UK and everywhere else in the world – an increase in the popularity of Asian cuisines.  Some people are taking these dishes to stay in touch with their culture. Others just want to have a feel of what these sumptuous and nutritious dishes have to offer.

Embrace Health & Flavour with Low Carb Pasta: Exploring Its Versatility & Benefits
In today's health-conscious world, finding nutritious alternatives to our favourite comfort foods has become a priority. One such innovation is low carb pasta, which offers a guilt-free indulgence for pasta lovers. This article delves into the multiple uses of low carb pasta and highlights its impressive benefits that make it a must-try for those seeking a healthier lifestyle.
Versatility Knows No Bounds: Low carb pasta opens a world of culinary possibilities. From classic Italian dishes to creative and diverse recipes, this pasta alternative seamlessly integrates into various cuisines. Its versatility allows you to create popular favourites like spaghetti carbonara, creamy fettuccine alfredo, and zesty pesto pasta, all while staying on track with your low carb lifestyle.
Health Benefits That Matter
Managing Weight and Blood Sugar Levels: One of the most significant advantages of low carb pasta is its potential to assist in weight management and blood sugar control. By replacing traditional pasta with low carb alternatives, you can significantly reduce the intake of refined carbohydrates and their subsequent impact on blood sugar levels. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with diabetes or those looking to lose a few kilograms.
Enhanced Nutritional Profile: Unlike traditional pasta made from refined grains, low carb pasta is often made using alternative ingredients such as almond flour, coconut flour, or vegetable-based options like zucchini or spaghetti squash. These substitutions provide a higher nutritional value, offering increased fibre, healthy fats, and essential vitamins and minerals. By incorporating low carb pasta into your meals, you are not just cutting back on carbs but also boosting your nutrient intake.
Sustained Energy and Satiety: The lower carbohydrate content in low carb pasta helps prevent the rapid spikes and subsequent crashes in blood sugar levels that often accompany high-carb meals. Instead, it promotes sustained energy levels and a feeling of fullness due to its higher fibre and protein content. This makes low carb pasta an excellent choice for those seeking long-lasting satisfaction and avoiding the post-meal energy slump.
Exploring Culinary Delights
Mouthwatering Pasta Salads: Low carb pasta varieties, such as spiralised zucchini noodles or shirataki noodles, make exceptional bases for refreshing pasta salads. Toss them with a medley of fresh vegetables, protein-packed ingredients like grilled chicken or shrimp, and a flavourful vinaigrette for a light and satisfying meal.
Comforting Casseroles and Bakes: Low carb pasta lends itself perfectly to hearty casseroles and bakes. Whether you are craving a cheesy lasagna or a comforting macaroni and cheese, there are plenty of low carb options available to help you satisfy those comfort food cravings without compromising your health goals.
Delectable Stir-Fries and Asian-Inspired Dishes: For a fusion of flavours, use low carb pasta in stir-fries and Asian-inspired dishes. Shirataki noodles, made from the konjac plant, are popular low carb alternatives that absorb the Flavors of the sauces and spices they are cooked with, making them a versatile addition to stir-fries, pad Thai, or even ramen bowls.
Low carb pasta offers a remarkable solution for pasta lovers that are looking for healthier alternatives. With its versatility in the kitchen and the impressive health benefits it provides, low carb pasta has rightfully earned its place as a staple in the culinary world. Embrace the flavours, explore the possibilities, and embark on a journey of delicious and nutritious pasta dishes that support your low carb lifestyle.

Sunday Brunch Buffet Returns at Fairmont Makati with Sunday’s Best at Spectrum
Spectrum Restaurant at Fairmont Makati was one of my favorite Sunday Brunch buffets before the global pandemic hit (Read: Seafood Sunday Brunch at Spectrum). During the last two years, the hotel took a long time before they were able to reopen their facilities, including their bars and restaurants. I dined at Spectrum a few months ago when they were still on a “hybrid” a la carte all you can setup, but it just wasn’t the same. But now, I’m so happy to see that they have finally returned to their full buffet setup with a revitalized Sunday Brunch that truly stands out from all the other Sunday brunch offers around the city.
Sunday’s Best at Spectrum is a vibrant Sunday brunch buffet featuring the best of Spectrum’s indulgent multi-cultural cuisine plus a dessert showcase highlighted by unlimited Carmen’s Best Artisanal Ice Cream, the country’s first super premium quality ice cream. This is available every Sunday starting September 25, 2022 from 12:00nn to 2:30pm for P3,200 nett per person. The Hungry Kat was invited to be one of the first guests to experience their new Sunday Brunch and I was really excited to be back at my favorite luxury hotel in the country.
You can find Spectrum Restaurant & Terrace at the lobby floor of Raffles and Fairmont Makati, two hotel brands that are really close to my heart (Read: Elegant Birthday Staycation at the Raffles Presidential Suite). Spectrum is back with its full buffet of sumptuous main courses, offering a sumptuous array of gastronomic favorites from around the country and across the globe, cooked to perfection in interactive culinary theaters.
We were given some refreshing welcome drinks like this Strawberry Spritz which started our gastronomic adventure on a sweet note. Mocktails and sodas are included in the buffet price so you don’t have to worry about adding anything else.
Take a peek at the Salad Bar and the bread station which offers a variety of freshly baked breads and healthy greens for appetizers.
I opted to start at the charcuterie station with its assortment of light hams and cheeses. These include farmer’s ham, black forest ham, Emmental cheese, brie, and more.
Right beside it is a colorful display of endless maki and rolls at the Japanese Station. I also got some delicious sashimi here including salmon, tuna, and our favorite unagi or eel.
I am a certified noodle lover so I could not resist heading to the Ramen Station and asking for a bowl of hot ramen. You can customize your bowl so I had it topped with savory chashu.
The Fresh Seafood Station is really enticing! This is what I remember most at Spectrum’s Sunday Brunch and I’m happy to see it still here. There’s fresh mussels, scallops, crabs, tuna, salmon, and even some prawn cocktails.
I took a plateful of seafood and brought it to the grilling station to have to cooked. There’s also an option to have your mussels and scallops baked with lots of cheese.
There’s so much more to explore here at Spectrum’s Sunday’s Best. This is the Chinese Station which comes with several dimsum items like siomai, siopao, dumplings, and my favorite hakao shrimp dumplings.
The Roasting Station has this sumptuous display of Peking duck, roast pork, and soy chicken welcoming all the guests. The peking duck is placed inside Chinese wrappers and served with hoisin sauce.
Shawarma is also available and you can ask the servers to slice and prepare a fresh wrap for you. Better yet, get some servings of their Salmon Wellington with its crispy puff pastry covering the tender salmon.
Don’t forget about the Filipino Station which has its own magnificent carving area featuring the glorious Lechon. Ask for more crispy skin to go with your lechon meat.
The Grill Station itself has a lot of meat and seafood options. I got some beef and salmon belly which was grilled and brought to my table. They also have some pork and chicken skewers here.
The main centerpiece of Sunday’s Best at Spectrum is this humongous beef carving that will surely satisfy any hungry carnivore. I asked the server to get a few slices of steak and have them seared a bit at the grill.
There’s a choice of mushroom sauce or red wine sauce to put on your beef. I actually went back for a couple more servings of this juicy steak.
After that exquisite adventure around the buffet stations, it’s now time for dessert! Sunday’s Best at Spectrum features a colorful array of sweets and treats for everyone. There’s a dark and white chocolate fountain where you can dip your fruits and candies.
I love the macarons at Cafe Macaron, Fairmont Makati’s lovely lobby cafe, so seeing them here at the buffet is surely a delight. You can also find a lot of cakes, pastries, chocolate mousse, creme brûlée, crepes, and more.
They even have a dedicated Halo-Halo Station which can serves as both a beverage and a dessert in one. Don’t forget to put some leche flan on top of your halo-halo.
I saved the best for last, because the best thing about Sunday’s Best at Spectrum is that they have partnered with Carmen’s Best to let guests have all the premium artisanal ice cream that they want!
This is not just your ordinary ice cream because Carmen’s Best is undoubtedly one of the best premium ice cream brands in the country. You can choose from among the various flavors available like Salted Caramel, Cheese, Brazilian Coffee, Rocky Road, and more. No other hotel buffet can boast of having this kind of ice cream on their menu, and it’s all unlimited.
Sunday’s Best at Spectrum is available every Sunday for P3,200 nett per person. If you happen to be an Accor Plus member, you can even get up to 50% off on your buffet! Reserve your tables now at https://bit.ly/BookSpectrum and experience this luxury Sunday brunch for yourselves.

Read Part 1 Here
The rest of the night was a drunken blur. You vaguely remembered the way Andy held you in the park as you drunkenly cried into his chest. He listened attentively as you ranted and cursed Hugh Ransom Drysdale – whom he assumed was the other man on the porch. Andy put together the pieces and with your slurred confessions, he understood that the best friend of yours held a special place in your heart, but it didn’t deter Andy’s attraction or his growing feelings for you either.
You woke up in your apartment with a dull headache and fifteen missed calls – along with fifty-five messages – from Ransom. And one “have a good day :)” from Andy, but you decided to ignore and ghost both men. You were too confused to even entertain the idea – the possibility of you and Andy, especially when you were still questioning your feelings and the fate of your friendship with Ransom.
Over a week of radio silence from you left Ransom antsy. You had never iced him out like this. The longest you two had gone without speaking was three days – when he stood you up at a university gala so that he could fly out to the Victoria Secret Fashion Show and hook up with a model. You were so angry with him but forgave him all the same when he showed up to your dorm with two pints of ice cream and a smile.
It always so easy to get you to accept his apologies. He thought it was because you two were meant to be in each other’s lives. That your smiles and laughs – and even your playful jabs – were meant to brighten his day, every day for the rest of your lives. And it hurt him when his pleads and apologizes were left on read.
He blamed your absent responses to his dozens of messages and voicemails on that hotshot Assistant District Attorney. He blamed Andy Barber for turning you against him. And his anger towards – what seemed to be his rival – only heightened when both he and Andy Barber pulled up to the front of your apartment complex.
“What are you doing here?” Ransom said, accusingly, as he balanced the cookies and cream pint on top of the mint chocolate chip.
Andy didn’t even respond. Like the night the two were acquainted, he simply ignored Ransom and began to stride towards the complex’s doors. Fumbling with his keys, Ransom quickly locked the Beamer and chased after the suited lawyer.
“Did she invite you?” Ransom prodded. He felt a dull ache in his heart at the thought. Is this what you’ve been doing for the past week? Ignoring him to be around Andy?
Andy huffed, still ignoring the other man, as he pressed your apartment number’s button on the intercom systems. Ransom looked over at the takeout bag in Andy’s hands. Though he couldn’t see the contents, he recognized the logo. It was from your favorite Japanese place – the one you said had the best shrimp tempura rolls. He remembered you tried to get him to go with you, but he blew you off to go to a bar with his rich friends. Did Andy know your order? Did Andy take you there?
Ransom repeated his question and Andy just gave him a side glare as he pressed the button next to your apartment number again.
“No.” Andy finally answered. “I went by her office to see if she wanted lunch, but her co-workers said she’s been sick.”
Relief rushed through Ransom. So, you were ignoring both of them – that’s fine. Ransom smirked to himself. His years of friendship with you gave him the insight to know that whenever you were sick, you preferred hot soup as opposed to sushi – that you’d puke the raw fish right up.
“Hi, sorry, hello?” Your voice statically came over the speakers.
“Hey.” “Hi, (Y/N).” Andy and Ransom said at the same time. Andy shot a glare at Ransom.
“(Y/N),” Ransom said, pushing Andy’s hand away so that he could press the button. “It’s Ransom. I have ice cream and uh…”
“Ransom, I…” you sighed. “I’m sick.”
“I know, but I know all the best remedies.”
“Sorry.” You deadpanned. “I don’t… I don’t think you should be up here.”
Andy lightly shoved Ransom’s hand away from the button, pressing onto it firmly. “Hey, it’s Andy… Lauren and Sabine said you were under the weather, so I brought you lunch from that Japanese place you liked so much.”
“Andy, I…” You frowned as you spoke though neither could see it. Were they there together? “I’m sorry… I’m just so sick… and I tend to throw up sushi when I’m – “
“I actually bought you ramen.” Andy said, hope still in his voice. “I remember you told me you throw up sushi when you get sick, so I thought I’d better order some soup instead.” Ransom’s brows knitted together – when did you have time to tell Andy this? How long have you two known each other?
“Oh…” You facepalmed. The slap was audible and made Ransom crack a smile. “Okay fine… C’mon up, Andy.” That smile quickly dropped.
Andy smirked at Ransom as the doors buzzed and unlocked, but Ransom was not going down without a fight.
-=+=-
Several days later, it was Ransom’s turn to show up at your office, but this time you were there. Your work friends, Sabine and Lauren, were divided about the strange predicament you found yourself in. They were the ones who arranged for you and Andy to meet, but they were also the ones living vicariously through the love triangle you stumbled in.
“What are you doing here?” You groaned as Ransom showed up with two coffees in his hands. He put one cup on your desk and brought his to his lips with a smirk. “Hugh – “
“You’re ignoring my calls and texts, but you sure do love giving Andy Barber attention… Did you know he has a kid?” Ransom poked. “I know you wouldn’t date people with kids. The ex’s still in the picture y’know.”
“Considering how I haven’t dated anyone since college, I’m in no room to judge.” You frowned. “Now, unless you’re in some legal trouble, I suggest you leave.”
Ransom shook his head and pushed you back into your seat when you moved to stand. “He’s also really old…”
“Not much older than you and I.”
Ransom frowned. What did Andy Barber have that he didn’t? Why were you so intent on breaking your own dating rules for him?
“What’s it about him?” Ransom wondered aloud. “Is it his job? Dating an ADA would surely get you out of this joint… Hell, maybe you could even be a trophy wife. Stop working, drive around his Audi. You can probably even be friends with the ex-wife… Laurie, I think that’s her name. Aw, you and Barber would be so cute… Imagine him going to the country club with his pretty, young wife.” He snorted.
“Ransom!” You scolded as you glanced around at those who were listening in the conversation. You were already given flack for being friends with Harlan Thrombey’s grandson. You didn’t need your other co-workers to whisper about your attempts at social climbing by dating Andy Barber. “What is wrong with you! Andy’s a good guy. I’d date him even if he wasn’t a lawyer. Now shut up and leave.”
“No… No!” Ransom argued, lightly slapping your hands away when you tried to push him towards the doors.
“You’re making a scene at my work-place, Ransom,” you aggressively whispered.
“No!” Ransom repeated, his voice rising. Those who weren’t paying attention before were certainly now. “I just wanna know… what’s it about Andrew Stephen Barber that’s got you ignoring me? Huh?” When you didn’t respond, he grew angrier. Why weren’t you answering?! Did your ghosting also apply to real life? “(Y/N), I told you I loved you and you just got in a car with him and left me.”
You bit your lip, furrowing your brows as you glanced around. Those who were trying to discreetly listen abandoned their attempts. They watched on as if they were watching a soap.
“You sleep around.” You muttered. “You parade girl after girl around me as if it didn’t hurt, Ransom. I cancelled my date with Andy, so I could go to your mom’s party. You invited me and ditched me, so that you could go fuck some wannabe model in your grandad’s house. You only came looking for me when you needed a damn condom!” You heard some snickering in the background, but you were too focused on trying not to cry to care.
“I – “
“I’ve been at your beck and call for years. And now, I think…” you stared up at Ransom’s eyes, your own shiny with tears. “I think you only keep me in your life because I’m the only one who gives a damn about you.”
“(Y/N) – “Ransom sighed. “No… I love you, that’s why,” he tried to grab your arm, but you pulled away, shaking your head. “No guy has ever been good enough for you. That’s why I never let them date you!”
“What?” You asked in disbelief. Your tongue darted out to lick your lips as you thought about every date – every guy who came into your life who miraculously disappeared after meeting Ransom. “Son of a – “
“And Andrew Fucking Barber is definitely not good enough for you.”
“And what you are?” You prompted. Your eyes wide and with your shaky tone, Ransom knew you were on the brink of crying. “Ransom,” you shook your head, “I loved you for years. I loved you despite you constantly sleeping with other girls, despite you always ditching me, or despite your family. I loved you even though you can be heartless and insensitive. I loved you so much I put my life on pause to always help you – to always be there for you… But Ransom, I can’t do this anymore… I’m sorry. I can’t…”
“Hey pal,” the security guard finally stepped up just as the tears started to roll down your cheeks. “I think you gotta go.” When Ransom reached out to grab you, the guard quickly stood between you. “Now, Mr. Drysdale.”
Ransom stared at you as you slumped back into your seat. Lauren and Sabine immediately rushed to your side, but you waved them off as you put your head in your hands. You were embarrassed that you caused a scene. You were embarrassed that you confessed your love for Ransom. But it gave you clarity.
The love you had for Ransom was toxic.
And you needed to let it go.
Ransom allowed himself to be dragged out of the office and onto the pavement. The guard told him not to come back. “You leave Miss (Y/L) alone, alright, man?” The guard said. “I know Andy Barber… and when he finds out about this, he ain’t gonna be happy.”
“I’m not scared of Andy fucking Barber.” Ransom rolled his eyes.
“Nah, but he’s got some pull in the DA’s office. He can get a restraining order approved in minutes, pal…” The guard chuckled. “You leave Miss (Y/L) alone.”
Ransom watched as the guard hobbled back into the office, closing the doors behind him. He tried to look through the glass, to get one last glimpse of you. He always wished you’d be the first to confess your love … But he never expected it to be like that.
Now, he couldn’t help but wonder… was this your last conversation? He made you cry and he couldn’t even apologize for that … After this, are you cutting him off completely?
-=+=-
Andy Barber was attentive, observant. He was kind. Growing up with a murderer as a father, he found that his compassion was a way to compensate for his father’s sins. He strived to make a name for himself aside from being Bloody Billy’s son. He was a good man.
A man that put aside his late evening plans to drive from Newton to Boston just to pick you up. A man who put his night on pause just to spend some time with you on a whim of a phone call.
If it had been Ransom, he’d be scolding you as he drove. Blaming you for wasting his time. He’d guilt you and make you feel worse.
But Andy wasn’t Ransom.
Andy made you feel wanted.
“I’m sorry,” you muttered when you slumped into Andy’s couch. “I didn’t know where else to go… Ransom knows where I live and if I see him at my apartment, I think I’m gonna lose my shit and I’ll need a lawyer.”
Andy chuckled as he settled down next to you, handing you a cup of coffee. You smiled and thanked him as you put your head on his shoulder. “I’ll represent you, no worries. I’ll even do it pro bono.”
“I don’t think you’re allowed to,” you laughed. “Circumstantially, they say that lawyers shouldn’t represent their significant – “you bit your lip, cutting yourself off. You’re thinking too far, (Y/N), you scolded yourself.
Andy smirked. “Significant other?” He asked, bringing his cup to his lips, taking a long sip. “Taking strides now, are we?”
“Sorry…” you felt heat rise to your face.
“No, you’re fine,” Andy smiled and pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “We’ll take strides.” He muttered and nodded. “If that’s what you want?”
“Yeah, Andy… I do.” You smiled to yourself as you brought took a sip.
Your nose scrunched up. You had forgotten to tell Andy your meticulous coffee order. Whenever you were at Ransom’s, you didn’t need to tell him – he just knew. Your heart ached at the thought of losing your best friend, the one of the only people who knew you. After years of friendship, you couldn’t just burn that bridge… right?
You pulled your head from Andy’s shoulder and looked over at him. He smiled at you and you couldn’t help but smile back. This growing relationship was fresh. It was new and it felt healthy.  Sure, Andy didn’t know your coffee order, but like Ransom, he could learn it. Maybe he could even memorize it by heart.
You smiled at the thought and leaned into Andy, pressing your lips onto his.
You weren’t sure what fate had in store for you and Ransom – whether that friendship ended forever or will revive itself in due time…
But you were certain about Andy…
You were certain you wanted this new beginning.

Dine-Out Meals of March 2021, Ranked
I ranked the following based on taste alone. I made no consideration for ambiance or the general dining experience or whatever. I included meals I got to go. I included food trucks, catered meals, and fast food.
Lots of work travel this month, but hit some regular places. A Disney World vacation brought some new ones.
Should you be interested in the pictures or reading the few words I had to say about each meal, click on the home page and scroll down or see the archives.

Mon Petit Choufleur
Part of the Luv Library project - Culinary.
Part 1 (this) - Part 2 (coming soon)
Jimin x Reader
Strangers to Lovers, culinary school au, fake dating au, SFW
Summary: You're not a pastry chef, that's for sure. Your speciality is coq au vin, not 🍋 meringue pie. So why is the cute baking and pastry major keep talking to you?
Warnings: Cursing in French (because I'm fancy like that)
"You need some more excitement. When people eat your food, you want them to feel special and to know your dish on a personal level. Right now, it tastes like a coq au vin starter pack that you can buy from a supermarket. Add some more saveur, and I'm not talking about spices. I'm talking about your desire, what you want your dish to taste like, mon petit chat."
"Mon chat, I'm so proud of you. You are my darling, my child, my love. I believe in you."
Merde. You panic in your seat as the waitress delivers your drink and soup. You stare at your computer screen, deliberating on whether to open your grades for the semester. "What are you doing?" Jumping in your seat, you bang your knee against the table.
"Sorry, are you all right?" You nod and massage your knee. "I didn't mean to scare you."
"It's all right. I wasn't paying attention." You glance up at the offender, Jimin. You are in his baking and pastry class. You weren't friends with him, but everyone in your college knows each other.
"Are you sure? Let me get you some ice." Jimin offers, and before you can stop him, he's already at the café's counter. When he returns, he offers you ice in a plastic bag. You hold it against your knee and Jimin beams. "What were you working on, anyway?"
"I was checking my semester grades." You say, returning to your computer and glaring at it.
"Well, do you mind if I sit with you?" You nod and gesture to the seat next to you. Jimin peers over at your computer after he seats himself. "You got an A on your culinary exam and practical exam? That's awesome!"
"My pastry and baking scores aren't very high, though."
"They're average." Jimin pouts at you, and you ignore that.
"C is not good enough."
"I think you did fine, considering that pastries and baking is not your concentration."
"Thank you." You smile at Jimin, who smiles back kindly. A girl runs up to him, beaming. She reminds you of a ballerina.
"Jimin! Sorry you waited a while." She notices you and gives you a once-over. You suddenly feel self-conscious in your green pullover. "Who's this?"
"I am (Y/N). I am in Jimin's class." You smile at her, and she tilts her head at you.
"I'm Seoji, and I'm Jimin's girlfriend. Thanks for keeping him company, but we need to talk." She grabs his arm and steps closer to him defensively. You can get the hint.
"I am sorry for taking up your boyfriend's time. Enjoy your date, you two," you apologize, gathering up your laptop. After you stuff it into your bag, you head out.
"Wait-"
But you were already gone.
———
"You don't need any more help, right, Jungkook?" You are exasperated and tired. It's not like you have something against Jungkook, but you just want some ramen and coffee.
"I don't need help," Jungkook begins, and you brighten up, "but I want you to try this recipe my mom sent me." You sigh in resignation but agree. Jungkook beams and runs to his kitchen, returning a few minutes later with mac and cheese...and there's shrimp on top of it? You take a hesitant bite.
"It's delicious," you say as you wince, "but did you put hot sauce in it?"
Jungkook nods. "My mom always does that. I really like it. But you're wincing."
You swallow. "I don't like spicy food," you choke out. "Can I have some milk, please?" Jungkook nods, dashing into the kitchen and presenting you with some banana milk. "Thank you."
As you chug the milk, you hear the door open. "My roommate is back!" Jungkook grins. "He's good at cooking. Do you want to stay for dinner?"
Before you answer, you hear a familiar voice. "Oh, hello, (Y/N)! I didn't know you knew Jungkook." Jimin. You nod up at him with your mouth full of banana milk. Jimin chuckles. "I assume Jungkook got you to try another one of his mother's recipes?"
You agree. "Maybe leave out the hot sauce next time," you direct towards Jungkook.
Jungkook groans, putting his hands in his head. "This is why I'm doing management, not culinary services. I don't know how you two do it."
You shrug and chuckle. "Hey, (Y/N), didn't you say you're good at making coq au vin? Can you teach me, and we can have it for dinner tonight?" You're surprised at the request.
"I can, but I wouldn't want to intrude on your dinner."
"Don't be silly," Jungkook laughs. "I invited you to dinner."
You pause, and Jungkook gives you puppy eyes. Darn his cuteness. "Alright." Said boy grins and jumps up off the couch and runs into the kitchen.
"I have all the ingredients ready!" he yells from the other room. You share a look with Jimin.
"Did he buy all the ingredients for coq au vin before he even asked me?" Jimin nodded. "This kid is a pain."
"How do you think I feel every day?" Jimin mutters, and Jungkook scoffs.
"I can hear you two."
"Good!" Jimin yells back, and you continue sitting on the couch, amused. But not for long.
You can hear Jungkook mutter, "Where's the hot sauce," and you spring up.
Vaulting over the couch, you run into the kitchen and stop him. "Jungkook, if you dare put sriracha into the coq au vin, I will personally microwave your ankles." Jungkook laughs evilly, and Jimin watches from the door.
"Why don't you try putting grapes in it?" You and Jungkook look up at him from your position on Jungkook's back and pause for a long second. After that silence, you fake-vomit and Jungkook shudders.
"Ew. Fuck. No." Jungkook shudders, and you shake your head furiously.
"Absolutely not. Mon Dieu, pourquoi ça."
"Okay, I don't know what that means, but that seems to be an insult." Jimin glares at you.
"Like that's much better than Jungkook saying 'ew' and calling you a seal."
"What?" Both Jimin and Jungkook stare you, and you stare right back.
"Phoque. That's seal in French." You mime seals.
"No, that's a swear word," Jimin explains. You laugh.
"I know." You busy yourself looking at Jungkook's attempt at coq au vin, embarrassed at your attempted joke. "Jungkook, why are you mutilating the mushrooms?" Jungkook immediately stops laughing at you to defend himself from you.
———
The three of you enjoy dinner, which isn't bad for Jungkook's first attempt. There's no sriracha, so you don't have any banana milk near you. As jokes are flying around the air, knocking sounds on the door. Jimin stands to get it. When he opens the door, Seoji peers in. "What are you doing here?" You stare at her like a deer caught in headlights.
"Um, Jungkook is-" Jimin's girlfriend interrupts you before you can finish your sentence.
"Oh, he's your boyfriend. Sorry I was so cold to you at the café! Jimin gets a lot of girls trying to date him." she smiles, and you decide to forgive her. You kick Jungkook, and he looks at you. You glare at him until he gets the hint.
"Yes. I am the boyfriend of (Y/N)." You choke at his strange tone and kick him again. "Hello, darling seal." You are ready to commit some murder, and Jimin looks on bemused and amused at the same time.
"Okay, Casanova, call me that again, and you'll say goodbye to your ankles." Seoji laughs.
"You two are cute together." Jimin nods, smiling gently at you, and you look away quickly. Seoji turns to Jimin. "Right. Jimin, my power is out. Do you mind if I join you three for dinner?"
Jimin nods, and Seoji goes to the kitchen to fetch a plate. "You two are dating?" He whisper-yells at you, and you and Jungkook are about to explain. Unfortunately, Seojin walks back in with a plate.
"Ooh, this looks good. Who made it?" You and Jungkook point to each other.
"They did," Jimin says to reduce Seojin's confusion. "They helped each other."
"That's so cutesy!" The dinner resumes with an extra person.
"How did you two meet?" Seoji asks you and Jungkook.
"He was failing his culinary class," you tell the truth, and now it's Jungkook's turn to kick you. You ignore him. "I offered to help him. He sure needed it. I thought he was cute and asked him out."
Jungkook groans. "Don't lie. You thought I was a pain in the ass, but I won a bet, and you and I started dating."
"What bet?" It was Jimin asking the question this time.
"If I get an A on my culinary exam, then (Y/N) would have to go on a date with me." Seoji giggles.
"Aw, that's, like, the perfect way to start dating. How long have you dated?"
"Two months."
"Three months." You and Jungkook stare at each other for a second. "Well, I think we started dating when she started helping me with homework, and (Y/N) disagrees." Jungkook manages to save your asses.
Seoji smiles warmly, and the dinner of lies goes on. After it ends, all four of you are seated on the couch. Seoji is squished up to Jimin, who looks very slightly uncomfortable.
"You two don't have to be embarrassed about sitting closer to each other." You and Jungkook jump at Seoji's words.
You and Jungkook scooch closer to each other. Seoji raises an eyebrow, and you want to avoid getting caught in the lie. Jungkook tentatively places an arm around you, and you smile at him while your eyes scream at him. "It's getting a little late," You say after about 30 minutes of Seoji initiating small talk. "I should probably head out."
"I'll walk you to your dorm." Jungkook stands quickly, and you nod.
"Thanks."
———
"So, why did you need me to be your fake boyfriend?" The question does not surprise you.
"Yes, about that. Thank you, by the way, for going along with my plan." Jungkook nods but waits for you to continue. "I met Seoji earlier at a cafe, and it appeared she didn't like me. Probably because I was with Jimin. I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable."
Jungkook smiles. "I see why that's a problem. How long do you think I'll have to be your-" he air quotes the last word "-boyfriend?"
You shrug. "It does not matter. You can break up with me at this moment if you want." Jungkook laughs, but it sounds a little like a scoff.
"Yeah, that's believable. Let's make it a week."
You shrug again. Jungkook confuses you. "Okay."
"Plus, I'd feel bad for you having a boyfriend for forty-five minutes." You punch him in the arm.
"I'm not that hopeless. Let's talk about how you've never had a girlfriend instead."
Jungkook glares at you playfully. "That's not true. I've had one."
"Yeah, sure. Who?" You nudge him.
"You."
"You fool, that doesn't count!" You laugh loudly. "Fake girlfriends aren't real."
"In that case, you haven't had one either!" You fall silent, and Jungkook senses some awkwardness. "I mean, I wouldn't know."
"No, it's okay. I don't talk about it. My first and last boyfriend cheated on me. What a surprise." You laughed bitterly, and Jungkook's eyes soften. "Oh well. It's not my loss."
"It really isn't. Jean Jaques Cousteau is really missing out."
"Contrary to popular belief, the eighty-seven-year-old dead man was not my first boyfriend." Jungkook snorted at your deadpan retort. "Anyways, this is my stop."
Jungkook looks up. "Oh." He pauses. "Well, let me know if you need anything, fake girlfriend."
"Okay, fake boyfriend." You head up, and Jungkook watches you leave.
"Fake boyfriend." He leaves after muttering your last words of the night to him.
———
In the morning, you go through your daily routine. Wake up, sit in bed for twenty minutes, get out of bed, make breakfast, eat breakfast, brush your teeth, and change. At least, you would've changed if Seoji didn't knock on your door. "Hi! Jungkook gave me your address." You're not surprised at that.
"Hello, Seoji. How can I help you?" Seoji scoffs, but not meanly.
"You talk so formally! Come on, we're friends, right?"
You pause at that, but let her in. "I have to change. Do you mind sitting on the couch?"
"Actually-" Seoji stands "-that's what I'm here for. I planned a double date with you, Jungkook, me, and Jimin. I'll help you choose an outfit." You pause.
"Um, I have an appointment." Not a lie, but your appointment is tomorrow, not today.
Seoji glances at your calendar. "You mean the dentist visit tomorrow?" You falter, and Seoji giggles. "Oh, don't worry. It'll be fun! Now, where's your room?" She grabs you by the arm and pulls you down the hallway.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're very bold?"
"Oh, at least twice a day." You resign yourself to your fate. If that many people tell Seoji about her brashness and she hasn't changed, you stand no chance.
"Lead the way." At your words, Seoji grins and somehow drags you into your room with even more force than usual.
"Wow, your room is so neat!" You look around at your laundry on the foot of your bed. You notice the hangers on the dresser drawer handles.
"It is? That's a surprise," you remark. "I think the last time I cleaned up was a couple months ago."
Seoji laughs but doesn't comment. Instead, she just opens your closet and starts rifling through your clothes. "Why do you have three copies of the same sweatshirt?"
"We don't talk about that." Seoji giggles and tosses you the sundress from your cousin's wedding.
"Here. Put that on, and we'll go."
"It's winter. I am not wearing this without at least leggings and a coat."
Seoji sighs. "Fine." She consents.
"I'll take it." You pull on a tan coat and some black leggings. "Let's go."
"Not without some makeup."
"Absolutely not."
———
Seoji drives you to the meeting spot, but not without blasting some of her favorite songs. You swear you're never listening to Night5 again after hearing them for ten times in a row. While Bitter Order is ending, you arrive at your destination. A smoothie place. The exact smoothie place you met Jungkook in. "What."
"I thought it would be cute since that's where you and Jungkook met! He told me that's where you started your tutoring sessions." Smart kid. "Did you know Jimin and I also met here?"
"I did not. I assume this place is popular?" Seoji nods emphatically.
"Yep. This is the hot spot for our university." You 'ahh' in understanding. "I go here all the time with Jimin."
"I've been here a couple of times because of Jungkook, as you know." A lie. You've been there once, and that was when you were looking at your semester grades. And by that, you've been there once, when you first met Seoji.
"Oh, yeah." Seoji nods. "Well, let's head in then." She climbs out of the car, and you follow suit. As you two walk into the building, Jungkook leaps up and runs over.
"(Y/N), Jimin's bullying me!" Jungkook whines, and you giggle.
"What did he do know, Kookie?" Jungkook huffed at the nickname but continued with his story.
"He keeps saying that I'm a baby compared to him since he's dated for longer than I have."
"Tell him that he has a babyface, so it evens out." Jungkook pouts.
"I can't do that, he'll tell my mother."
"Fine, I will." You walk over to Jimin. "Hello, Jimin."
"Hello, (Y/N)." Jimin smiles up at you from his seat. "Here to belittle me for making fun of your boyfriend?"
"I'm just here to ask why you're teasing him. He's not the one with a babyface." Jimin scoffs, mock offended.
"How dare you. My face is the talk of the town," Jimin jokes.
"Oh, sure. It's the talk of the town that you look like you're ten." Jimin can't take it anymore and bursts out laughing. His laughter is contagious, and soon you are giggling.
"Oh, I see Seolji! Here, take my seat. I'll get Jungkook to come over and sit with you. I recommend the açai mango smoothie bowl; it's amazing." You chuckle at his excitement, and he rushes off as soon as you sit. True to his word, Jungkook comes over.
"Jimin and Seolji are going to have some grown-up adult conversation, and it's boring."
"Jungkook, you do realize you're twenty-two, right? That qualifies you as an adult." Jungkook shrugs.
"Yeah, but I'm enjoying my youth. Jimin acts like he's fifty, sometimes." Jungkook smiles at you. "I ordered the pitaya smoothie bowl. What did you get?"
"I didn't order yet," you say, "and I don't do smoothies. I might get some tea."
"But smoothie bowls are great! You can try some of mine when it comes." Jungkook pauses to take a breath. "I don't think I asked yet, so how did your semester go?"
"Oh." You quiet down. "It was okay. I didn't do well in pastries and baking. Guess I'm not going home this summer," you say lightly. You draw out the 's' in 'guess,' and the server gives Jungkook his smoothie bowl. "Why does that look like the pink face scrub my mother uses?"
Jungkook rolls his eyes and flicks you in the forehead. "It's a smoothie. Let Berry Cute exist in peace."
"Oh, ew, it's called Berry Cute?" You cringe, and Jungkook scoffs playfully.
"Don't make fun of the pun. Hey, that rhymed! I should be a poet." Jungkook sits back in his booth, happy with his self-proclaimed poetry skills.
"Okay, Hemingway." You rise from your seat, and Jungkook looks up in alarm.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to order something." Jungkook relaxes, and you head over to the counter. As you wait in line, you can hear Seolji and Jimin talking.
"What do you mean?" "You are so stupid." "Why are you going to do this?" "I don't like this." "Neither do I." You don't know who's speaking, but you have to order now. You turn your attention from that to the menu.
"Hi, can I get the açai mango smoothie bowl?" The cashier nods.
"Anything else?"
"A cup of water, please."
"Of course. That will be nine dollars." You reach into your back pocket. Before you can grab your money, Jimin is by your side.
"This one's on me," Jimin mumbles, and you turn to look at him in surprise. "Don't give me that look. Seoji had to go home. I felt bad because she dragged you out here and didn't even stick around."
You sighed, but Jimin already took the receipt from the cashier, so you let it pass. "Why did Seoji go home?"
Jimin ignores your question, takes the table marker the server hands to him, and heads to the table Jungkook is sitting at. "Seoji went home because we broke up." You and Jungkook stare at him, wide-eyed, and Jimin winces. "You don't have to look at me like that."
"But you two were together for three years!" Jungkook yelped, and some of the patrons threw him dirty looks because of his volume. Jimin rubs his eyes with his hands.
"Yes, I am aware, Jungkook, thank you." Jungkook quiets, and you shoot him a small smile.
"Why'd you break up?" Jungkook didn't learn from his previous question, and you lightly kick his shin. He shoots you a look, but Jimin answers his question.
"Seoji and I had conflicting opinions and goals, and so we thought it would be best if we weren't in a relationship together anymore." Jungkook looks crestfallen.
"Well." You look at Jungkook, silently telling him that you're going to tell Jimin of the lie. "Jimin-"
"You two are lucky to have each other. Don't forget it." Jimin stands and leaves before you and Jungkook can explain to him. The two of you share a look.
"When should we tell him?" Jungkook breaks the silence first, and you sigh.
"I would hate to tell him that we were just pretending. Let's fake breakup during finals. That's two and a half months away." The two of you agree on that, and part ways. Ten weeks isn't a lot of time, and usually not much happens then. But life has a way of making you hate it.
———
You want to slam your head into a bookshelf. You know you brought it upon yourself when you volunteered at your local library. But. If you get any more questions on where the young adult section is when you're standing next to a big old sign that says 'young adult section,' you might die. "Hello!" As soon as you hear someone speak, you plaster on a fake smile.
"Hi! Yes, the young adult section is straight through here." You see who it is. Jimin. "Oh, hi."
Jimin chuckles. "I was just stopping in to return a book when I saw you. You work here?"
"No, I volunteer." You turn and see another volunteer glaring at you. "Go return your book. I have to get back to work." Jimin turns to leave, but not before saying something mysterious and leaving you confused.
"Jungkook is looking for you."
What.
You mull over those words as you continue working, and even after your shift ends. In fact, you are currently at a table in the library, pretending to read, as you think about what Jungkook would want from you. Well, if you just sit around, you won't find out anything.
You stand from your seat and turn around hurridly. Standing right in front of you is Jungkook, and you sit down again. "Hi," you murmur.
"Hi." Jungkook looks nervous. "I need to ask you something."
"Shoot."
"Let's say, hypothetically" You don't like where this is going and sit back nervously. "my friend's girlfriend was a cheating bit-"
"Language." You cut him off, and Jungkook glares at you before continuing.
"As I was saying. My friend's girlfriend cheated on him, and now he's heartbroken. I want him to get with one of my other friends, but that friend is dating someone else. How would I do that?"
"What is this, some soap opera?" Jungkook socks you in the arm lightly and glares at you. "Okay, okay. Well, for starters, is the friend who's dating someone else's relationship toxic?"
"It's fake, that's for sure." You sigh.
"That's going to be the hardest part, I feel. But Jungkook, you also have to take into account everyone else's feelings. Your friends might not appreciate you making them break up with each other or trying to get them with someone so soon." Jungkook slumps in his chair.
"Alright. Thanks for your help." You smile at him.
"That's alright. Now, get out. I have a class soon."
"What class?"
"It's some health and safety regulations class. I don't like the professor, Mr. Han."
"Oh, Jimin's in that class too."
"Nice." You have nothing more to say, and leave Jungkook in the library, looking for a book.
———
"Remember, cross-contamination should be avoided at all costs. If there is any cross-contamination in the kitchen, you must remake the meal." The professor keeps staring in your direction, and you busy yourself in the textbook. Jimin looks at you worriedly. Somehow, he had managed to snatch the seat next to you.
"Are you alright?" You nod up at him.
"Yeah, I just hate this class because the professor knows my parents."
"Ah, so you're scared he might snitch on your grades to your parents." Jimin is joking, but he struck a small nerve.
"Something like that." You give a vague answer.
Jimin returns to his textbook, and you continue hiding behind yours. When the class ends, the teacher begins heading up towards you, and you dashi run run run right out there real fast. Jimin follows, confused. "What was that about?"
"The professor was approaching me, and I didn't feel like sitting through one of his monologues." You roll your eyes. "If I have to hear him talk about how my parents were amazing at food safety, I might have to cut my ears off."
"But what if he was going to ask you about an assignment?"
You level your eyes at Jimin. "Then he can just email me about it. Don't see why that needs a face to face meeting."
Jimin runs his hand through his hair. "You're incorrigible." You smile proudly, and Jimin laughs. "That's not something to be proud of."
"What do you mean? Of course it is." You nudge him with your elbow jokingly, and Jimin smiles.
"You know, Jungkook keeps trying to cook cauliflower pastries in the microwave. I love cauliflower a lot, but this is really out of hand."
"What." You are utterly befuddled. "The kid's trying to cook a freaking pâtisserie de chou-fleur? In the microwave? This man's delusional."
"A pastry de what now?"
You laugh at him. "Pâtisserie de chou-fleur is french for cauliflower pastry," you explain kindly.
"Chou-fleur is a cute word." You nod absentmindedly.
"Sure, it is. Jimin, my mom's coming to visit soon, so I have to get back to my dorm."
Jimin nods and leaves. You begin the trek home, passing by your favorite ice-cream stall and the library you work at. You can see Jungkook in there, reading what seems to be a cookbook. You hope he's not planning another out of this world recipe. (He probably is.)
As you climb the stairs, you feel sick to your stomach. You're not ready to see your mother again, after however many years of not interacting. You approach the door and unlock it after a minute of trying to find your keys and swing the door open. Inside is your mother, staring down at you with piercing eyes. "Mother! I didn't expect you until later!" Your mother tsks.
"Well, I'm here now. Why haven't you been answering my calls?"
"I've been busy with college," you excuse, "but I've been meaning to call you."
"Yeah, sure." Your mother doesn't believe you. "Anyways, I went looking in your cabinets to see if you're eating healthy. What is this?" She gestures to your squirrel plate that she presumedly placed on the table.
"Ah, that. I saw it at a flea market and thought it'd be a kick." You play with your fingers, and your mother raises an eyebrow.
"We don't do flea markets." Thankfully, she drops the topic. Unfortunately, she moves on to a different subject. "I was talking to Mr. Han." You stiffen.
"Of course you were."
"Don't give me that lip, young lady." You resist the urge to roll your eyes, and your mother continues. "He told me that you're not really paying attention in his class."
"That's absolute connerie." Your mother gives you a sharp look, but you refuse to back down. "I've gotten straight-A's in that course." Your mother scoffs.
"That's not good enough. I also talked to Mr. Bang, and he says in your pastry courses, you got a C plus in the practical exam." Your mother taps her foot. "That is disappointing." Your mouth drops open in shock.
"You don't even like pastries," you accuse, and your mother narrows her eyes.
"I may not like pastries, but a C is unacceptable. Not for any child of mine. If you continue this kind of performance in school, you are getting pulled out immediately."
"A C is average! Every other time I've gotten A's. What's so bad about one measly C? I didn't even go to the college I wanted, I went here because you told me to! And a C is unacceptable?" Your mother slaps her hand on the table, and the squirrel dish rattles a little.
"I don't like your tone."
"I don't like your ideas on schooling." Your mother scoffs, but you turn on your heel. "I'm going out, and I think you should probably leave as well." Your mother squawks as she follows you out the door.
"I'm not finished (Y/N)!" You spin and glare at her.
"Mother, I've done everything you ever asked. I've never said no to your demands. I went to a culinary school, and I do my absolute best at culinary school. And you come here and have the audacity to tell me that I can never get a C in my life? And if I do, you're going to pull me out just like that? That is beyond unreasonable."
You storm off, and your mother watches your retreating form. You find yourself at the dorm of Jimin and Jungkook.
"Oh, sorry, Jungkook's not back from the library yet," Jimin says to you, and you sigh. "You can come in to wait if you want."
"Thanks," you say, and Jimin steps aside to let you in. "Hey, do you know of any cheap apartments?" You look at Jimin, and he pauses.
"Why do you ask?"
"Just wondering." You lie, and Jimin nods.
"I get it. Sometimes I over plan too. But you know, relaxation is healthy. I always just bake when I am stressed."
"Sounds like...fun?" You don't know how to respond to that. "I'm glad it helps you out."
"Want to try?" The offer startles you. You look up at Jimin, confused.
"Right now? You want me to make cookies?" Jimin laughs.
"Maybe not cookies, but if you want, you can use the kitchen." You perk up.
"You wouldn't mind?"
"No, just as long as I can eat the food too." You smack his shoulder, laughing.
"Agreed." You and Jimin head to the kitchen. You're unsure how this will pan out, but you're kind of excited. You don't even know why you're so happy. Something about Jimin just makes you smile. Maybe it's his endless energy, but you can't seem to stop smiling when he's around.
Before you can think much more, Jimin has pulled out sixteen different types of pots. "What are you planning to make?" he asks, a big smile on his face.
"I don't know. Cauliflower bread?" Jimin oohs.
"We have cauliflower!" Before you can do anything else, Jimin pulls out some cauliflower. "What next?"
You smile at his puppy-like enthusiasm and begin preparing to cook. Jimin was enthusiastic about everything as you teach him how to bake cauliflower bread. To be completely honest, you don't even like cauliflower. But for some reason, your heart loves it.
Time flies when you cook. As you put the loaf pan into the oven, the door swings open. "There's Jungkook," Jimin says. But instead of Jimin, it is Seoji who steps through the kitchen doorframe.
"What are you doing here?" She questions you strictly, and you have a feeling she's interrogating you.
"I'm make bread." You reply cautiously, and Seoji glares.
"Then were's Jungkook? He's supposed to be here with you, not Jimin." Your mouth drops open in shock at her forwardness.
"Jungkook is studying at the library, and last I checked, ex-girlfriends don't have the right to complain."
"I'll tell Jungkook you're cheating on him." The threat means nothing to you.
"You go ahead and do that. Who's Jungkook going to believe? His best friend's ex or his girlfriend?" Seoji shuts her mouth. "I thought so."
"Why are you here, anyway?" Jimin breaks in.
"I wanted to apologize to you and get back together." You hold back a scoff. It's been a week since they broke up, and Seoji is back already.
"That's not going to happen." To your surprise, Jimin shoots her down immediately. "Nothing can fix that, Seoji."
"Jimin, it was a one-time thing!"
"That's not what you said when we broke up," Jimin snaps, and you start to put two and two together.
Jungkook said that two of his friends broke up because of cheating. Was that couple Jimin and Seoji? Then who was the friend Jungkook wants Jimin to fall for? You don't know that many of his friends, only you and Jimin. Oh, and that guy who sits next to you and Jungkook in culinary services. What's his name again? Taeyong? Taehyun? You turn your attention back to the argument. It's still going strong. "I'll leave," you say, and everyone else's head snaps back to you. Seoji grins triumphantly, but Jimin reacts differently.
"No, you can stay. Seoji can leave." Seoji huffs but makes no move to leave.
"Sorry, but I can't. I don't really want to sit through this argument." You start to grab your things. "Pull the bread out of the oven after about forty or forty-five minutes." Jimin grabs your wrist, and you look up in shock. Seoji makes a disgusted face.
"No, no, please stay." It appears that was the last straw for Seoji, and she storms out of the dorm. You and Jimin watch her go, and someone else walks in. There's Jungkook, finally.
"Care to explain what's happening?" You yank your wrist away from Jimin, who seems slightly hurt.
"I was just heading out. I made cauliflower bread. It's in the oven, but still baking." You pat Jungkook on your shoulder and whisper in his ear, "I know who you were talking about when you were talking about your friends who were affected by cheating." Jungkook's ears turn red, and you leave. Hopefully, your mother is gone.

Deviltown
An Obey Me! Fanfic with an @snowandseven OC and paired with Lucifer. Inspired by Beauty and the Beast’s scenes. You’ve been notified.
It was a typical Saturday in Devildom. The eternal night sky is slightly brighter during the day, the blood bats were 'cutely' screeching and Cerebus was very excited for walkies since he's been busy paroling the House of Lamentation's underground tomb. Accompanied with Beelzebub, whom he can handle Cerebus next to Lucifer, was the exchange student from the human realm, Valentine.
Deviltown, it's a quiet village - Every day, like the one before
They've stopped at the entrance of the Deviltown, which was the opposite side of Devildom's big city, was what you might called an old fashioned town. The buildings was like old peasant-like housing, brick walls, fairytale look a like, almost slightly before the Victorian style era began. Granted, there were some updated mechanics and technologies, but most were kept old fashioned charm. Valentine fell in love with this place due to being an 'old soul.' -no pun intended-  Whether he had an agenda or not, he'd come here for anything and re-enacted his fantasies of his 'Snow White' image. Valentine hopped down from Cerebus with his DeVil school bag, only exclusive for RAD students and specifically made for Valentine by Diavolo's request. Meaning Valentine's school bag was suitcase-like but turquoise coloured themed.
Deviltown, full of mythical people -
“Are you sure you can manage the tasks by yourself? You have quite a lot to cover and carry.” Beel said to him. Valentine smile and said with assurance. “I am fine and confident to carry the order. It is my duty and also part of an apology of a sort. I must at least show how appreciated you and your brothers that you've forgave, accepted as family and taught me what feeling are after what happened, my 'rebirth,' when my 'secret' revealed and my true motives are. I am determined to start over and gain your trust not as pawns or tools anymore, but as a family.” “Even though we're literally demons?” Beel asked. Val chuckled. “Of course! You've forgotten I was one too on the inside. I can still change, despite my actual age. Now, I must be going. I'll summon if I do indeed need of help. I shall make my best meals from the freshest- er... maybe I'll say it once I've made it. It will make you think of hunger more than it is already.” Thus Beel's stomach started to growl. “I think there's still something left from the fridge back home. I promise to make a feast fit for a king tonight if you can manage long enough!” Valentine thought of a quick strategy. If he can get Beelzebub to get away from the fresh market, he won't cause a scene to devour the entire produce sections. “... Alright. But will there be-”
“Sour raspberry pie? Yes and I can also make other goodies once I finished and- oh! He left already.” Beel had already left with Cerebus. Guess that a yes.
Valentine then started quest to search for his ingredients.
Waking up to say:
He was greeted by the town demon-folks. It was like any other trip, smile and be polite, but this time, he wanted to start practicing being a real, genuine person and not a mechanical doll. He learns a good handful to start on something easy like saying:
[DEMON FOLKS] : Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour!
He greeted them back. He realized that he felt a little heart warming that wasn't there before. It's not much, but it was new to him. It was nice!
There goes the baker with his tray, like always - The same old bread and rolls to sell
The first thing he needed was fresh bread rolls and more bread for breakfast tomorrow. The owner of the bakery was a kind ogre. He too has a family and his shop was operated like one. Maybe he can try learning a bit from them if he have that chance, like now.
Every morning just the same - Since the morning that we came - To this poor provincial town
Valentine decided to learn how he interacted with his loving wife and maybe he can do the same when the time will come when he can make a pact with Lucifer. After all, he wanted to be more genuine when he says he does love him. "Good Morning, Valentine! Grocery shoppin' again for the lords?" The ogre baker asked Valentine. “Indeed, but I've decided to make tonight's meal a special treat. I would need...”
Valentine carefully chose the baked goods and he place them in his RAD suitcase. “Our generous lord Diavolo had blessed me with this lovely suitcase and even more is that one of my pact mate, Satan, had placed a special spell on it so that I can carry more than it looks.” The baker was impressed. “I'm impressed! I must say that if that involved magic as powerful as his, you're quite a human! Not many can make pacts from them, let alone being alive for so long.” Valentine felt a bit proud. For someone who's emotions are almost non-existence, the 'feelings' are new to him. Thus, he done his best by learning more and understand what the were. “Thank you for the compliment.” That was the supposed reply, he guessed. Before he asked the baker about his relationship advice, he started shouting in the kitchen, presumably the wife, something about the baguettes. Valentine knows that it's just the language barrier and it wasn't too difficult making out what they were REALLY saying, but it sounded like they were arguing. (But not really!) 'This must be one of those lover's quarrels situation that I've heard about.' He thought. Maybe some other time and leaves for the next item quest. [DEMON FOLKS]: Look there he goes, that boy is strange, no question.
Valentine continue to search for his ingredients. He was in luck for this time of year in Devildom, because it's their harvest season and there are so many delicacies and special imports from the human and celestial realm. Thanks to his brilliant, quick learning mind and his very good memory, he knew exactly what to look for AND finds items his pact mates been trying getting their hands on. Normally, his 'old' self would think this is for keeping them happy just to be pawns, but from now on, he must try to be like a family member.
Dazed and distracted, can't you tell?
He found a good amount of meats such as the FirePhoenix meat, MadCow hamburgs and steaks, FilthyPig pork chops and his Lucifer's favorite, the HellFurry Peacock's pack fit for a celebration dinner. (Or in this case, a 'modest' feast made for a future Demon king's coronation.) He got a fair amount in wrapped plastic. Cause it's for sanitary reasons, even in literal hell.
Never part of any crowd - 'Cause his head's up on some cloud
He then moved on to the next selling stand where they sell a fair amount of human and Celestial goods. The first ones that he immediately noticed was ramen noodles. Mammon and Leviathan’s favorite for on the go or gaming. He remembers the first time he saw this in his last cycle of 'rebirth.' It was in his human realm and he was catching up to the latest youth trends and he was offered a cup. 'You can now just add boiling water and it's done? What kind of magic is this? Is there really no time nowadays to even prep the meals?' Was his first reaction and to him, it's a descent food but not as good as home cook ones he's best at. Would you like to know how mind blown when one time he made a thanksgiving feasts one time to his previous roommates and they were in disbelief when he said it's just a 'normal' dinner?
The other story about it was when he eats it again, this time with 'THE' Mammon, he was taken aback when he devoured it like a beast with no manner. Maybe due to the fact that they were in Mammon's room and not at the dinner table that he think good manners doesn't apply. Valentine did his best, at the time, to show he's 'relate-able' by sipping the broth from his cup. Mammon noticed him and it started off their friendship on good terms. Looking back, deep down Mammon's a good guy and well, he IS his first pact in order for him to gain power... He must at least show him that he's sorry for using him as a tool. Maybe later he can help him with clearing his debt a little or get him off the hook from Lucifer... just once if it's minor.
He got the human world of chicken and beef flavored ramens for Mammon and the Shrimp flavored ones for Leviathan.
No denying he's a funny boy, that Val.
He then stopped to see the imported figurines called 'anime' as they called it. Val was thinking 'first it's animation, then cartoons and now anime?' He thought of Leviathan, his second pact. At first he thought that he was just a shut-in otaku, but as time goes on, he felt he can relate to him. He was scared of people hurting him. He can't understand what 'normal' humans do or 'normies' does. He is passionate on things he's very interested in like TSL and Rurui-chan. He did helped him out sometimes when fixing his uniform one time due to his cosplays and sewing.
He saw some limited key sets of the latest Rurui-can collectables and decided to buy the one that had his color themed and his. 'Maybe he'll like me more if I show this as 'friendship phone straps' and make most out of that gaming app Majolish.'
Bonjour! - Good day! - How is your family?
He searched all over the fresh produce market for vegetables, fruits and exotic herbs. He was thankful that Beelzebub was NOT with him at the moment and his charm spell has cast him away. Otherwise, there will be a concerning letter along another separate big grocery bill and that would make his Lucifer stressed.
He was his third and quite a formidable power house. Finding out his weakness was not so hard and his raw strength does come in handy at times like lifting the couch with one hand while eating a cucumber sandwich in the other.
But what he admire and now values in Beel the most was his kindness. Sure, he does act dangerously ferocious when he was denied food one too many times, but for his family especially for his twin, he would do anything for them. Valentine can learn a thing or two from him.
He already knew Sour Raspberry pies will be another easy favorites, so he made sure that he bought plenty for pies and at least one of them for the others.
Now as for the other twin and the seventh born, Belphegor, he was the one who revealed his 'rebirth' ability to others when he was killed again. To his surprise, he came back to life in hours rather in years unlike the human realm. Must be the realm's magic or something cause he's certainly sure it ain't from his heritage. Belphie was the one who made him confess everything, his true plans, his back story and his reason why he needed power. He thought that at the moment he was going to be kicked out and send back. But instead, they forgave him, said that they were literal demons to each other and that they wanted to start over again with him but be more honest and true.
Belphegor was probably the one who he can be more open and honest with himself when talking afterwards. Asides back rubs and talking about the stars, he does seems like a likeable character and he does care. Like himself, he tries to make amends for his big brothers from his mistakes.
He saw some silky fabrics with night star patterns that reminded him of his favorite sleeping spot, the Planetarium. Maybe he can get some to make a pillow cover for him whenever he changes and washes out the laundry for bed sheets.
Bonjour! - Good day! - How is your wife?
He then came across the beauty sections where perfumes, jewelries, clothing, you name it is here. Too bad Asmodeous is being help up for catching up his neglected homework. He heard him dramatically sobbing from the other room of how 'cruel' it was for him being held up especially for today when fall fashion had just arrived today and that he'd always be the first in line.
I need six rotten eggs! - That's too expensive!
Asmodeous was the fourth he made pact with and to be fair, it was like they're staring at their own reflections of outer beauty wise. Both of them are beautiful in their characteristic ways such as Asmo is more self-care conscious while Val is more natural. They both shared much in common such as fashion statements, jewelries, skin care, Lucifer, ect...
While Asmo is narcissistic most of the time, he does think about others and wanted to help them as much as he can. One time he cut his finger and when Asmo saw it, he immediately took out the first aid kit.
Valentine decided to at least buy a beautiful beige scarf and a new hand lotion from the human world that's one of his favorite beauty lines.
There must be more than this provincial life!
He then hopped back on a black hellhorse royal carriages that was still new from the handle like it was a free ride during it's time. He was almost done with the shopping and he got most of the brother's favorites. He was in a trance of understanding what emotions are. He already knew what fear is, more than he can remembered. He knew, in others, how they acted with their emotions and their reactions. But he still haven't felt emotions himself until he discovered them during these months whenever he interacted and developed his relations with the brothers. Happiness, sadness, anger, laughter, embarrassment, envy, and others he had seen or heard before. It felt so new to him when he realized that for the first time in what seems forever, he laughed when there was that pillow fights saga and just last night when he had to confess about everything, he cried.
But most importantly, he started to develop something he can't quite describe yet...   He decided to think about it later and hops off the carriage when they've passed at the bookstore where Satan gets his favorites and hard to get books. It's probably the only and closest bookstore in Devildom to get his books. [DEMON FOLKS] Look there he goes, that boy is so peculiar - I wonder if he's feeling well
What he finds attractive in Satan was his vastly knowledge on so many subjects. Like he, Valentine's no slouch when he shows his knowledge. (He lived for almost two centuries.) They can talked for hours on so many topics and they're quite close apart when it comes to the subject of Lucifer. He knows that Satan's power alone is powerful enough to make anyone quiver in fear, but he was also created from Lucifer's anger before he was casted out from heaven. Not to mention Lucifer was a former arc angel and to be honest: He's got that temper that needs to be kept in check unlike Lucifer.
None the less, he is still a valuable person that he was glad to make a pact after that trip to London for the swap curse saga. He picked up Satan's weekly orders and also he picked up a fairytale book for another report. 'Beauty and the Beast.' He read this story a few times before, remembered how both the girl and the Beast learned to love each other. Maybe he can learn too if he tried harder? He also picked up 'The little mermaid' too. For 'human lessons' reasons.
With a dreamy, far-off look and his nose stuck in a book - What a puzzle to the rest of us is Valentine
When he got out of the store, he saw a Hellish black horse that had blue flames as his mane and tail. The creature, like every others, felt a slight charm from Valentine. He took this opportunity to practice a bit of what it called 'kindness' by taking out his 'Beauty and the Beast' book and shows it to the beautifully yet terrifying creature. He then sings gently a bit to help it calm down. [VALENTINE]: Oh, isn't this amazing? It's my favorite part because you'll see - Here's where we meet Prince Charming but we won't discover that it's him till chapter three!
The Hellish black horse then rubs his cheeks with Valentine's as affection. "You're very welcome!" He then realized that he was then surrounded by a few other small street creatures and they were eyeing on him. If he doesn't ditch them soon, he'll get more than just a 'warning' from Lucifer when he sung while cleaning near open windows and not realizing there were Hellbats and Hellbirds flew in. (Though he admitted he finds his frowning face attractive when scolded.) So he the skedaddle over to the next stop. [GARGOYLE WOMAN]: Now it's no wonder that Asmodeous is worried, His looks have got no parallel.
He blushed at this felling what he recalled embarrassment. He halted when he arrived at one of his favorite clothing shop in Devildom. It's the only one that has those old vintage tuxedos and vests made for dukes and 18th centuries royalties. 'I guess I can look for a little bit before I return home.' He thought of himself.
[BUG CREATURE SHOPKEEPER]: But behind that fair façade, I'm afraid he's rather odd - Very diff'rent from the rest of us.
If you think Valentine's had a minor spell from his 'charms' for the demon lords alone, you might be mistaken when there's other powerful demons who wants to make a pact with him and we're not talking about Diavolo or Barbatos here.
[DEMON FOLKS]: He's nothing like the rest of us. Yes, diff'rent from the rest of us is Val!
In the Blood square of the town, there are two powerful demons in their own rights. They were from a neighboring kingdom, who's under the demon king's control, are there for their day off. One of them had a particular goal of meeting Valentine.
There was one demon who's name is Giovanni The Hellian. He's a high ranking demon for his strength, his manly appearance, his legendary rivalry against Beelzebub's sports team, but most importantly, he is very prideful. (In other words, he's the Devildom's version of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast.) He had red hair fairly long like Asmo's but slid back, his attire is something similar to a high school student for today. He threw a fireball towards a black horned goose that flew over them. It hit the poor creature and it hit the ground dead. “Wow! You didn't miss a shot, Giovanni! You're one the greatest hunter in the whole Devildom! I bet you'll be summoned by prince Diavolo one of these days for one of his hunting trips.” The other one was a fairly strong demon named Kiru, he was a male Incubus with some envy. He's got that bowl cut, brown hair and he wore the same team jacket as his friend does. He is most likely the support type. “ I know. I will get what I always want.” Giovanni boasted. “No beast alive stands a chance against you, ha ha! and no Incubus girl, for that matter.” Kiru replies as he took the goose in his bag for supper later. “It's true, Kiru, but I've got my sight set on that one in particular!” He pointed out at Valentine who he just exited the shop. “You mean the exchange human student by Diavolo himself?” Kiru questioned his friend's taste. “He's the one, the lucky boy I'm going to make a Formal pact with!” Giovanni boasted with pride. “But he's-” “The most beautiful boy in centuries I've lived through!” Giovanni cuts him. Kiru tried to tell him about Val, but Gio wasn't listening. “I know, but-” “That makes him the best. And don't I deserve the best?” Gio picks him up from his jacket's collar and look dead in the eye. Kiru fussed with it. “But of course! I mean, you do! But I-” He then drops him. [GIOVANNI]: “Right from the moment when I met him, saw him - I said he's gorgeous and I fell. Here in town there's only he - Who is beautiful as me. So I'm making plans to woo and pact with Val.”
Giovanni wanted Valentine more than just a simple pact, he wanted him to make an OFFICIAL demonic pact. The only difference is that a regular pact can easily be removed once a deal is set or done. An Demonic pact is more like a marriage bond. It's more 'official' and gives more power for the demon.
Giovanni only saw him three times at events prior to today. The first was at a Devil-ball game, where his team was up against Beelzebub's. Valentine was in the crowd along with the other seven demon lords. His feminine-like beauty had captured his attention. The second was on another sparring competitions where high ranking demons, including the seven lords themselves, practices and compete for top spots. The third one was at Diavolo's party where Valentine had changed his appearance to fit in with other demons. He almost ask him for a dance until Lucifer took him away from him. Gio wouldn't let that glare from Lucifer that night to keep him away from Valentine. He 'marched' straight to Valentine who's just strolling into the further end of the town, presumably to return to the House of Lamentation. Whenever Giovanni wanted something, he takes it. No compromise. [FEMALE CHEERLEADING INCUBUSES] Look there he goes. Isn't he dreamy? Monsieur Giovanni, Oh! he's so cute! Be still my heart. I'm hardly breathing! He's such a tall, red, strong and handsome brute! [Witch Woman:] Bonjour! [Giovanni:] Pardon [Beauty incubus:] Good day! [Clown Woman 2:] Mais oui! [Undead Woman:] You call this bacon? [Werewolf Woman:] What lovely grapes! [Vampire Man:] Some cheese? [Ghost Woman:] Ten yards! [Cat Man:] One pound.
Unfortunately, the busy hour of the demon folks in the town residence had commence their daily routines. They unknowingly prevented him to reach Valentine who he was walking away from them.
[Giovanni:] Excuse me! Please let me through! [Vampire Cheese merchant:] I'll get the knife [Undead Woman:] This bread - [Werewolf Woman:] Those fish - [Witch Woman:] It's stale! [Clown Woman:] They smell! [Ogre Men:] Madame's mistaken. [Ogre Women:] Well, maybe so. [Demon folks:] Good morning! Oh, good morning!
Back on Valentine, he looked around to see several interactions between the demon town folks. Some were happy, upset, angry and more. He knew beforehand what they were, but he still haven't learn how and why. Which was new and exiting to him. [VALENTINE]: There must be more than my provincial life!
Eventually, Giovanni had catch up to him.
[GIOVANNI]: Just watch, I'm going to make Valentine a pact!
Gio had placed a hand on Valentine's shoulder and the human looked back at the demon. Val recognized the face before but he was clueless on who he was. “My name is Giovanni The Hellian. You might have heard of me before, haven't you? Ha! Well, as usual, I'm full of surprises for anyone.” Poor Val was like 'Have we really met before?'
[DEMON TOWNSFOLK]: Look there he goes! The boy is strange but special. A most peculiar gentlemen! It's a pity and a sin - he doesn't quite fit in.
Giovanni continues to 'flirt' by bragging himself even more, unknowingly that Valentine's still doesn't know him asides his name. “You know, my little Valentine, there's not a demon in all of the Devildom's united kingdoms who wouldn't LOVE to be in your shoes. This is the day-” Gio had noticed he looked at the widow reflection of himself and just wiped something on one of his sharp teeth with  his triangular tong. “Ah, ahem! THIS is the day where all of your hearts desires comes true.” Valentine might not be a social butterfly, but he knows how narcissistic characters can be. (He ought to know, he was born from one.) “What do you know about my desires? Do you know me well enough about my life before I live here?” Does this demon knew about his mother who she's rumored to be a very legendary, powerful witch? Who she's so powerful that almost every demon shuttered at her very name? Whom she had an obsession of dominance and control over him and tries to break him?
“I know plenty! Picture this!” Giovanni then traps Valentine between himself and the wall. “Once I've risen up and be acknowledged by future Demon King Diavolo, we will live in a modern luxury apartment with all the latest gadgets and clothing. My latest kills roasting in a white, electronic, up to date kitchen that does all the cooking and my beautiful little human, massaging my horns and wings. We'll also have beautiful incubuses to satisfy our needs, so I don't mind if you wanted some fun on the side. I'll make sure we'll have big beds to fit all of us.”
“For you and them?” Valentine 'innocently' asked. Does he think he KNOWS Valentine that well?! “Ha! Not just them but also you! Don't worry, I'll make sure you'll be the only one sleeping in my arms.” Valentine then slides underneath his barring arms. “Thank you for the invite, but your picture and mine are very different paintings.” Giovanni doesn't let him go. He grabbed Valentine's wrist with a bit of force. “Make a formal pact with me, Valentine. Only you can help me.” Val tried to pull away from him. “I'm sorry but no, I want to be with the one I love, not just for status or image alone.”
Giovanni laughed “Love? Ha! Don't be ridiculous! I like my human more obedient, not-” His eyes widen as to someone who was standing behind Valentine. He recognized this menacing aura. “Didn't you heard what our human said? He's not interested making a pact with you.” He then saw red gloves freeing his wrist and he held it up while the other one covered his left torso. “Lucifer...” Valentine whispered with a blush when he looked up to him. “I suggest you leave him be if you want to keep your current status and have a chance to be promoted by Lord Diavolo himself.” Giovanni tsked and then leaves them, cussing mumbling 'freaks.'
“Are you alright? Have he done anything else to harm you?” Lucifer's attention is now on Valentine. “Yes, I'm fine. He really was a brainless boar.” Val responded. He then felt a hand brushed through his long hair and then lips on his fore head. His cheeks heated up. Lucifer chuckled. “My words exactly.” Valentine then looked down. “I... I know that I've wronged you and your brothers with pacts that I made prior to last night's confession. I really mean it when I said that I will change and... I DO want to be with someone I love. I can't stand being with someone who's just wants me as a possession and not as an only partner for life!” That makes Lucifer smiled. “Then you'll only need to prove it yourself if you ever want it really bad. If you can manage to make amends with my brothers, I will forgive you and maybe, we can make a pact. But my standards are normally high, are you sure you want that?” Valentine looked up straight in Lucifer's red eyes and nodded. “Good. Now, how about we both take quality time at the nearest cafe? I want to know a bit more about your... 'early' life in details. The others can wait for a bit.” Valentine then accepted Lucifer's invitation without hesitation. Lucifer chuckled as both of his left wings covered Valentine and pulls him closer to him. “That's what I like to hear. Now, stay close to me. I don't want you to be with another demon apart from me and my brothers, is that understood?”
[DEMON TOWNSFOLK]:'Cause he really is a funny boy. A beauty but a funny boy. He really is a funny boy. That Val! (Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour!)

Yeah, this is a different Gaming AU that I’ve played on my phone and I really liked @snowandseven‘s OC and story arcs.
Obey Me! Game belongs to Solomare. OC belongs to @snowandseven

AH omg can we please get Dabi making y/n dinner after a long day? uwu
A/N: Ask and you shall receive. Now I have no idea if your meant reader had a long day or Dabi had a long day, so Dabi gets to play house husband in this one. I hope is this is what you wanted. Sorry in advance if anyone is allergic to seafood but I'm having a craving
It was a daunting walk from the car to your third level apartment. A wave of regret washed over your body with every step you took, why did you let Dabi talk you into to taking combat training classes. Today’s class was particularly hard as it was an actual contact class and you had lost count of how many times you completely ate it out there today. Before you were involved with the villain there was no reason for you to have any combat knowledge and now every time you left the house you were in danger.
The duffle bag that you carried was weighing heavy on your shoulder, as you thought about completely sucking today in class. It was embarrassing, the only match you won was with the smallest girl in class and that was hardly a win. On top of all that you had forgotten, your wallet this morning because you had woke up late from your nap so you didn’t even get to eat on your lunch break. Eventually, you reached the third floor and the smell of food wafted out into the corridor. The delicious smells incited a grumbling in your stomach. It was your favorite, seafood ramen and you’d give anything have it at the moment.
As you approached your door it seemed as if the smell grew stronger. ‘Aww he ordered take out,’ you thought now that you were sure the scent was coming from your apartment.  Distracted by the buckling of your knees, aching body and grumbling tummy you managed to drop the keys while looking trying to unlock the door. This was the icing on top of the cake that was your shitty day. In a fit of rage, you kicked the door making a loud thud before bending over to pick up your keys. While you were crouched down the apartment door swung open and your lover peered down at you.
“What’s the matter with you?” He asked knitting his eyebrows together.
“It’s been a day.” You huffed hanging your head as you stood. Once laid eyes on Dabi you couldn’t help but smile at the fact that he was wearing a ‘Kiss The Cook’ apron and a chef hat. Come to think of it, where did he even get that. “What’s with the get-up?” You teased eyeing his accessories. “Is this some role play idea of yours?”
“Just come inside.” He said, reaching out to take your bag from off your shoulder giving it instant relief.
Following him into the kitchen, expecting to see your take out waiting for you on the table you were amazed to see two pots steaming on top of the stove. He cooked? All this time and you never knew he could cook. Curiosity got the best of you as you wandered over to take peek, Dabi whipped you with a kitchen towel causing you to yelp.
“Don’t touch anything, just go sit down I’ll be right there.” He shooed you out of the kitchen. You took a sank into the sofa finally able to let your body relax. Moments later, Dabi appeared with two bowls, he carefully placed your bowl on the sofa pillow that you often used a food tray before taking a seat next to you. “This is my special recipe I call it ‘ (Y/n)’s Spicy Seafood Ramen’ “ He said with a huge smile plastered on his face. “ Go on try it.”
You hungrily slurped at the noodles going back for a second bite, then a third not realizing that he was waiting for feedback. Looking up at him with cheeks full of shrimp and noodles you flashed him a smile of approval.
“This is exactly what I needed after getting my ass kicked all day and it’s way better than take out. Thank you so much, babe.” You pecked him on the cheek.
“You’re welcome. “ He said. “ And don’t stress about your combat training, you’ll be an ass-kicking machine in no time babe.” he chuckled.
