THIS IS ME... CUTE HUH? Maxine LeBeau. This is my dad... and this is my dad! How'd I get two dads? They're both dating my mom! She's gonna make sure we're one big happy family... with one dad who's down to earth, and one dad with his head in the clouds.
Do zoomers know "My Two Dads"? I'm guessing zoomers don't know "My Two Dads"...... Anyway, it's show about a girl who has two dads, which is to say, nobody yet knows which of them is her biological father. So, in the meantime, both have to learn to like each other for the sake of this teen girl. Also, the show has a baller theme song, up there with the likes of "Perfect Strangers."
After the sitcom bit in "Motendo" I couldn't get this idea out of my head. Even if it's a different situation since all three of Max's parents are in a polycule... the gag was too funny. The idea of a sitcom where Erik and Remy get into hijinks trying to raise a teen daughter and her toddler brother, and the viewer learns a lesson via Rogue having to repeat bail her idiot husbands out of whatever mundane situation they are failing spectacularly at.
"One of them is a Master of Magnetism... the other a Master Thief! But can they band together for their daughter's first day of high school?" This program was filmed in front of a live studio audience. *laugh track*

THIS JUST IN!!!!!
Apparently Rogue's character is "ruined" for being interested in Magneto and for not lovin' Gambit the "right" way while he also has previous love interests and an ex-wife in XTAS *blocks and side-eyes blogs like remylebeaugambit* Makes me embarrassed to be a Remy fan rn.
If so-called Rogue fans are so uncomfortable with legal adult Rogue being attracted to Magneto in various media , maybe they should read a Kitty Pryde comic instead or stick to just watching that (actually pretty good ngl) high school AU that is X-Men: Evolution.
Heck, even Sid the sloth from the Ice Age movies gets less slack for dating the much older Brooke who also got magically de-aged just like Magneto. And nobody's saying that Sid is a victim and Brooke is a groomer because the Ice Age fandom is more normal than Rogneto antis and so-called fans of Rogue and Gambit's characters.
Agreed and well met, Traveler! I loved X-Men: Evolution as well. I'm fine with characters having many ships. I'm fond of calling it an armada. :) And my own personal cry is: Monogamy? In this economy?!
I agree with you: the age discourse is just awful. It's so upsetting to me. It's the most basic, reductive, simplistic argument. You can count the years but you add no value or depth to them.
It's not about Rogue being ruined it is about Rogue being ruined for *them*. Reading literacy and comprehension as well as looking at texts dialectically (at the least) is on the wane. You couple this with a strange "purity of concept" that seems to permeate our media, and we get this issue.
If you like a character, then that character is a statement on *you*, *your integrity*, *your morals*, *your ability* to be right. Therefore Rogue doing something against the perceived norm of the story (a story with low stakes, mind. We're less comfortable living in a state of unknowing even more these days) is not only an insult to Remy, but it is also an insult to them, their viewership, their expectations of the character, and ultimately a reflection of themselves.
We see then the knee-jerk reaction to distance, define, and denigrate. Suddenly, we're as obsessed with purity of character and dictating their "best practice" motives. They have to find a way to explain away the fault. Sometimes it's pushed back on the writers (especially if the writer is female...thinking Rebecca Sugar here and the SU writing pool) but often (especially for female presenting characters) the blame is shifted on a literal thought concept. It's insane!
X-Men is a soap opera with powers. Also, the most important thing to remember in my book is the main core of it: the X-Men are people. Not gods (sorry Krakoan Magneto, still love you, baby) but human beings who wish to coexist with you.
With laser beam eyes.

when I first started self-shipping: maybe this character would like me back. we’re sorta dating. oh, and maybe I’d be friends with this character? they might find me annoying…
me now: this character would always have my back. we’re friends until the end of the line. multiple characters have unrequited crushes on me. my f/o has dedication to me like no one’s seen before. we’re madly in love. we’re best friends. we’re soulmates. it’s even deeper than that.

The real truth is that every single Jason Todd ship exists only for his benefit, and not his partner's. It's not just Jayroy, though that may be the most extreme example of it alongside jaytalia. Any character who is romantically involved with Jason has to be bastardized to some level, either because their morality would make it impossible for them to be with Jason (Roy, Kyle, Kara, Steph, Barbara, etc) or because Jason's character would go entirely against what their character needs/is working towards (Rose, Artemis, Kori, Slade, etc). It's always about what Jason needs and what Jason could get from that potential relationship, because he doesn't really... have anything to offer. Jason as Red Hood centers his story in violence and self-isolation. Even in his current The Hill run, where he's learning to trust people yada-yada, he's lonely. Because he chooses to be. And that's why every Jason Todd ship feels forced if you're a fan of whatever partner of choice, because Jason isn't at a point of himself and his life where he can offer anything in a relationship. Idk word vomit sorry

if I get a nickel for everytime a well-known ship in dcmk universe gets revealed as cousins after years of no clear indication that they've always been one, I would get two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's concerning that it happened twice

finally snuggling up in bed with your f/o(s) after a long time being away from each other. you listen to their heartbeat as they hold you close and kiss your head, mumbling just how much they missed you into your hair.

I just got to this sidequest today called, "Brothers in Arms" and I am so soft. Once it was obvious that Luigi was needed specifically for this battle, Mario immediately walked to his brother's side ready and willing to fight alongside his little bro 😭❤💚
And ofc, this sidequest was solely these two even if either one of them isn't in the player's party.

I think i have a Type in ships…
First, there is the one character, the one we get to know closer first,
He‘s a dude who is amazing, with his entrance he is immedeatly the Favourite character,
We also find out that he has a brother who is generally annoyed by him and done with his shit,
But anyways, back to the ship. Character A also got a father who is seen as THE guy (either by everyone of just him)
Now to Character A‘s personality. He is super hot and a real Ladies guy
… except that he‘s not
He cant hold a relation ship with a woman for his dear life.
But anyways, when the big bad evil hits and all seems lost and horrible
BOOM, Character B makes an dramatic, explosive and intense entrance!
Talking about character B, lets look at his personality:
He is very powerful and can do cool magic
And he is generally unimpressed by Character A‘s bullshit
But, after all, they absolutely adore eachother and are a perfect ship
Sooo yea, i think i have a type.

Watching X-Men 97 it seems Nightcrawler is a Romy shipper whereas Morph is a Rogneto shippers. (Also, can't forget that moment in Age of Apocalypse where Morph surprised hugged Rogue and Magneto by saying he loves the mushy stuff.)
Ha! It seems it indeed. Makes me think in the comics, even with his spiritual beliefs, his greatest is in love and communion of soul. I love imagining him being a duitiful brother, ribbing his inlaw, and just being happy that his sibling has love in her life. :)
Morph makes nice with Rogue and Pietro in Astonishing X-Men vol 1, Issue 1
Later, he used her youngest son to rally her when she flagging in a fight with Apocalypse's son.
That was such a great series.
Thanks for helping me relive it for a moment! :D <3
Well met, traveler! Stop by anytime!

If you've ever said that Charlie Spring and Merlin are the same person, know that I hate you. NO. Merthur has nothing to do with Charlie x Nick.

I had a very cursed realization, and I need to share it with y'all. There is an uncanny amount of similarities between Carlisle Cullen/Charlie Swan, and Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter.
First off, Carlisle and Hannibal are both blonde. They're both described as almost inhuman looking and stunningly attractive. They both have a deep fascination with humanity. They're both doctors. They're both very, very formal and intelligent. They both are incredibly manipulative and are practically worshiped by the people around them. They both have a favourite child that is seen as almost a protégé (Edward for Carlisle and Abigail for Hannibal). They both have extremely tragic back stories.
Now, when it comes to Will and Charlie, there are a ton of similarities between them as well. They've both got that dark brown, longer, floppy hair. They're both very casual, simple people. They both love to fish and be outdoors. They're both cops. They both have daughters that they struggle to connect with.
What the fuck is going on
