That would be X-Men Legacy #249 and … who can blame her? Anyone would get hot and bothered after a story like that.

I don't think I could've said it better myself. It was a beautifully written tribute to the moment.
Agreed, I love that they're siblings and we get to see it so openly acknowledged!
I need them as siblings all the time, every time. ;.;

Y’all have no idea how important this is to me.
Rogue is a character who constantly has to hold on. She’s had to hold on to her control and hold herself back for pretty much her entire life. She can’t touch another person, which means she constantly has to hold back, to keep herself in check, to grasp tight to anything that makes her even a little bit “human” less she be deemed nothing but a monster. This episode is all about Rogue letting go. Letting go of her control, letting go of her morals, letting go — or failing to let go — of Remy… she finally cuts loose, and we see how powerful she is. We see how cut-throat she can be. We see how much she feels, how much she fears, how much she grieves. But this… this moment? When she finally feels the grief through the rage? We see her drop her final defenses, and when she lets go she falls. She completely falls into this embrace and she presses into it. Rogue has spent her entire life holding back from touch, so to sink so fully into a hug like this shows just how far gone she is. This isn’t a quick hug where she’s making sure to keep a layer of clothing between skin contact. This is a full-body embrace with no care for anything but contact and comfort, two things that have been denied Rogue for so long.
This episode tore Rogue down to the deepest parts of herself and forced her to let go, and when she did Kurt and the other X-Men were there to catch her.
also it just makes me really happy to actually see Kurt and Rogue’s relationship acknowledged on screen, they are one of my favorite pairs of siblings in media and seeing them like this is extremely important to me.

Carey did a great job with this story, and I hate how Age of X-Man (Why couldn't it have been Age of Nate Grey!) has superseded the original AoX title to claim its name. Ah well...
Great Khaleesi and I were discussing this just last night, how General Magnus treasured Legacy, and how it was returned by her to him. (Or at least in our headcanon) We helped each other form a half-thought each of us had to be made whole.
If General Magnus and Legacy were in a relationship around the edges of the story, or circling one another, it has a memento mori or this idea that their general spends his days fighting their enemies, and his nights appealing to/appeasing/apologizing/atoning to their fallen.
It's the love of death, the cycle of rebirth, the endless ocean of souls and lives within her. It's the Elysian Field of mutants made flesh in a human body. A tontine that doesn't end with death, but instead creates a living history within the body of one person.
Forgive my weakness, but I'd like to also suggest that some of these themes were (lightly) discussed in my first ever completed Fic A Monster Amongst Monsters: https://archiveofourown.org/works/21245672/chapters/50586248 https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13175288/1/A-Monster-Amongst-Monsters

Filed under ‘penny for your thoughts’ :
In Age of X, when Magneto says ‘there must be a shrine in some remote corner of your being. A place of sanctity.’, in that entire speech, and in that moment, that place for him is Legacy. It’s Anna.
Because he didn’t imprison her as his own laws would have asked for; he didn’t kill her in the rubble to secure his fortress. He sheltered her. He preserved that corner of himself. Legacy (her ways and the world seen through her eyes) represents that piece of humanity in him while the rest of his soul is a butcher’s shop. He wants to trust her judgement even if her actions are breaking his world apart. He chooses to put his faith in her at the cost of himself and at the cost of the world he fights to keep afloat because he trusts her to be the better part of him.
Tumblr media
The story starts with Legacy reminding him of how long they have been fighting for, making him reflect on the meaning of their lives. And by the end of it he comes to terms with how tired he is of that struggle, of surviving just to wake up again and again to the same grey day. So when she exposes the cracks in his fortress he chooses to see the rays of light that are coming through.
Yes, I do love that story - it had so many details written with care and respect.

Do you ever think about Rogue who is scared of her powers, of them hurting people, and Magneto who is committed to Never ever making someone feel bad for their powers, whose entire deal is making sure mutants can see the beauty in what they are because I did and now I'm not okay
You are EXACTLY right and thank you for sharing your insights. His love for her is a concentration of the love he has for all mutants (which can especially be seen in his interactions with the Morlocks)

Rogue really out here tearing apart U.S military facilities, saying 'ACAB' to Captain America and saying 'motherFUCK your shield' by yeeting it into a mountain.
She is the icon, she is the moment.

Same anon who brought up Kurt replacing Remy. Just wanna say I enjoy Rogue x Gambit in the nineties cartoons, just not while some of the less kind Rogue x Gambit shippers are around leaving gross, sexist comments. It also annoys me how people can't separate Rogue from Gambit and vice versa, even though Rogue has existed as a character at least a decade before Gambit's first appearance. Again, enjoy Gambit but I think his death leaves more room to explore other parts of Rogue's character outside of him like her and Kurt's sibling bond for example.
Well met once more, Traveler! As a kid, I enjoyed Romy as well. But around Issue 45 of the second volume of X-Men (Rogue and Remy's meet up after the Age of Apocalypse) I began to get worried for Rogue. I didn't like the way their relationship was portrayed, and the attempts to resolve their issues didn't seem to get to the point of the matter.
Following this up with the shambles of a trial they did for issue 350 (Lobdell plotted but was fired before finishing the book, so Seagle scripted it, and it shows) and the lack of mourning anyone seems to have for the Morlocks at the conclusion of the trial, as well as how quickly he was let back in...and I wonder. Did everyone miss the point of the problem?
Gambit's biggest issue is communication. He struggles to do it openly.
The show did a lot to valorize him, but I still feel the sting of the (First) Mutant Massacre. I wish there were more justice for the Morlocks, which I guess is their whole point. I was *thrilled* when Kurt and Rogue openly referred to each other as family on the show. I really need this to happen more in the comics too, for the very same reasons you say! Rogue's relationship with the Adler-Darkholme side of her family is somewhat lacking as of late, and I'd like to see her be a part of the family reunions too! She can bring Gambit, he's family now as well. :)
Lastly...I think a fan has to remember that while being a supporter of something, being a fanatic isn't the best thing. Especially when you're so blinded in your fanhood you can't allow yourself to look at the composition without allowing yourself a chance to view it from many different points and perspectives.
Great ask, Anon! I hope to run into you again sometime soon. :)

I've seen a few pro-romy/anti rogneto posts recently slipping through the cracks. They have been blocked but they talk about how Rogue loves Remy but she doesnt love Erik it's only a touch thing that she got over by the end of episode 5. Anyways, i havent read all of the comics involving their relationship but do we ever find out how she feels about Magneto? I remember him telling her at one point that what he feels for her is deeper than love but im trying to remember what she felt for him and in x-men 97 he even tells her "loving you makes broken men whole" so we know where he stands. They obviously loved each other in AoA, i really loved that series! ❤
Mostly, her opinion of him has been she's wanted to explore it further. Even in X-Men Legacy vol 1 Issue 248 she promised him only for that night, and their relationship continued in a somewhat hazy middle space.
Even Kelly Thompson took a moment to definitively give them closure after their marriage in X-Men Gold vol 1 issue 30. I thought her handling of Magneto and Rogue was very deft in her. Mr & Mrs. X run.
They definitely loved one another in the AoA, and in the above mentioned issue 248 she knew Legacy/Reaper had strong feelings for General Magnus. She acknowledged it aloud.
Good points you bring up. :)

MAGNETO REX, ROGUE REGINA Time has swiftly passed for Rogue and Erik, marking a year since they embraced the responsibility of leading Genosha. It proved to be a journey far more fulfilling than either of them had anticipated. Beyond mere human diplomacy, it was also to encourage, guide, and aid the citizens of Genosha in every conceivable manner.
Despite her hesitance in the beginning, Rogue seamlessly transitioned into her role, offering unwavering support and wisdom to Erik. Her resilience, insightfulness, and empathy complemented Erik's vision and also steered a path for the betterment of Human-Mutant relations.
The news of the upcoming coronation of the New King and Queen of Genosha sent shockwaves throughout the globe. Their schedules brimmed with interviews, conferences, and engagements , all advocated towards the cause of Mutant Rights.
The days slipped away in the lead-up to the coronation, the very day arriving with startling swiftness. The ceremony was reverent, and as they processed down the aisle, hushed murmurs and whispers could be heard from the attendance of the people, their eyes beheld much faith and trust. It made her acutely aware of the expectations that were resting on both of them. For a fleeting moment, doubt threatened to cloud her thoughts, but Erik's reassuring grip on her hand dispelled it.
As the sun cast its golden afternoon rays upon the palace balcony, adorned with vibrant flowers and lush greenery. The royal couple stood poised for press photos, and the planned pose had become more of an impromptu one, as Erik, a natural leader, stood proud and majestic, slipped himself behind his Queen, his hand resting on the small of her back as a sign of reassurance of comfort and she leaned gently into his embrace.
Cameras flashed with the silent approval from the photographer. Behind them, the proud insignia of Genosha served as a fitting backdrop, a symbol of unity and strength under their reign.
The citizens of Genosha gathered in anticipation and excitement below, their faces lit with reverence and hope as the royal couple stepped out onto the balcony. At the center of it all stood His and Her Majesties, King Magneto and Queen Rogue, newly crowned rulers of the island nation. More info about the art:
Having the urge to draw this because it was on my mind since forever, and I like to explore the 'What Ifs' of the X-Men's universe. So going into the 'What If' realm of if the Sentinels attack hadn't occur and Rogue accepted Erik's proposition. A Elven attire (Lord of the Rings) and for Erik’s, imbuing certain characteristics from Chinese Fantasy Drama particularly Xian Xia drama. , I sought a delicate balance between functionality and elegance in their garments. Despite my admiration for drapery, I opted for functionality and practicality without compromising on regal charm. For Erik, I envisioned him embodying the wisdom and nobility similar to the Immortals depicted in Chinese fantasy dramas. His robe, carefully tailored to reveal his hand, was draped to evoke a sage-like presence, exuding both majesty and authority. Choosing hues reminiscent of their battle attire, I softened the silhouettes, creating a more inviting and pleasant aesthetic. For Rogue, instead of her usually robust-self, I opted for a more and demure stance but standing in front of Erik, just to show that they’re on equal grounds. GENOSHA Genosha's flag was redesigned as the original one was too "barbaric' to my tastes. How I see Genosha = Earthy + Floral + Otherworldly Red signifies courage and valour. White signifies purity. The symbolism of 3 signifies harmony, wisdom and understanding.

"He spent weeks talking about how mutants were special. How we'd have our own cities and culture one day. He even had plans, too, Remy. Mutant art, fashion, dance. He showed me that being a mutant wasn't just about my powers. It could be something more. "
