pls,,,, water my crops with wu/mako uno reverse au hcs
look the reverse wu/mako universe has many wonderful possibilities.. here is just one way it can go....
- wu’s parents were two earthbenders, killed when he’s young so he lives with his aunt who is terrible & abusive, so he runs away and lives on the streets.
- wu is still a nonbender, but he’s super clever and charismatic so he’s able to pull off a ton of scams for the triad, who he joins for self preservation. he never becomes that good at fighting but he’s certainly more a little more physically capable than canon wu. (also i like the idea he learns how to chi block bc he found out his mom was once a kyoshi warrior). after a job almost gets him arrested, he realizes he’s gotta get out of there.
- he doesn’t have a resume obviously, so he just talks his way into convincing the arena to give him a job as a match announcer.
- korra still sneaks out to see a probending match, but this time wu sees how into it she’s getting in the stands so he’s like “LOVE your energy queen let’s kick it, get some noodles ALSO why do you look so familiar?” shes like “oh im the avatar” and hes like “omg do you know kyoshi”
- they become friends because they’re chaotic energies just vibe and wu gets her a spot on probending team (the other members of which i still don’t know)
- tenzin is less than thrilled about the union but he cannot shake him off.
- wu cant cross the street (hes gay) so asami still runs into him.but shes a stan so shes like “oh! I know what voice! let me make it up to you! can i take you shopping or to dinner?” and wu knows a trust fund kid when he sees one so hes like “oh we’re gonna be friends”
- then, of course, he introduces his two friends and korra falls instantly into Simp Behavior because uhhhh the last time she saw a girl that pretty, it was just pictures of katara in her 20’s so she did not need to form words in her presence.
- now, since the premiere krew is korra and her nonbending buddies, the amon storyline could have a lot of wu & korra going undercover, and since now theyre all consciously queer a lot of frank dicussion about asami’s relationship with her dad.
- meanwhile in the earth kingdom, mako’s father was the younger son of the earth king, so nobody minds when he marries a woman from the fire nation. but his older brother dies before he can have kids so mako’s the crown prince before he even starts bending.
- when they find out hes a firebender, they’re like “oh UH FUCK” and instantly cover that up and say he’s a nonbender bc the earth kingdoms a little backwards.
- mako’s trying to convince himself that he’s cool with this, he’s fine he can sacrifice that for his country, but bolins always like you deserve better bro :(
- with the fall out after amon, their parents think its a good idea for the boys to represent the earth kingdom in republic city so they send them along.
- tenzin thinks its important to maintain good relationships with the other world leaders so he offers them a place to stay at the air temple. bolin loves the aesthetic so he forces them to accept.
- korra & bolin still hit it off right away, but korra thinks makos a fuddy duddy with no sense of humor so she cant stand him. wu on the other hand is like “oh that is a man”
- mako and korra eventually talk and realize they both lead super sheltered lives and shes like “you just have to get out there and experience things and live your truth or whatever”
- makos is inspired so he starts to get up super early and practice his firebending with the air temples tools n shit, thinking no one will see him.
- except wu is a weird twink with no concept of boundaries or sleep schedule so he catches him one morning and is like “i have an amazing idea, let me sneak you into a pro bending team! I’ve done it before I’ll do it again!” (this is totally inspired by this fic btw)
- thats all she got folks. That’s all she got.

Dean’s P.O.V. ~ 2010, Lawrence, Kansas
Humming the words to Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd, I slowly climb out of Baby, my 1967 Chevy Impala, passed down to me from my dad when I got married to Y/N four years ago, after we’d been dating and engaged for a little over a year. Mom and dad were so happy when I finally settled down. Sammy had been off at Stanford for a couple years, and getting close with his own girl, Jess, when I met Y/N.
She and I had hit it off the moment she walked into my mechanic shop, trying her best not to freak out about the fact that her car had pretty much just died on her. Since it was a newer car, a 2003 Honda Civic, I wasn’t entirely sure I’d know what to do to fix it. My specialty lies in fixing up classic cars, always has been, ever since I was old enough to help my dad work on Baby.
At the time Y/N walked into my shop, I’d only recently been learning how to work on the newer style cars. Despite my hesitancy at being able to fix her car, the look on her face, the distraught, the panic...it just tugged at something inside me, and I knew I’d do whatever it took to fix her car for her.
Only, I wasn’t able to. The car was beyond repair. Even my adopted Uncle Bobby couldn’t fix it, and he can fix almost anything. So, after he and I towed Y/N’s car to his salvage yard, and I made it back to my shop, I offered Y/N a ride to wherever it was she needed to go in town. It was a quick trip to the diner to get her some to-go food before I dropped her off at one of the town’s motels.
That was when I learned she was new in town. That she had just moved here from a small town in the New England area. Just before she got out of the Impala, since Dad let me drive it today, I gave Y/N my number and told her to give me a call tomorrow, and I’d take her up to Uncle Bobby’s salvage yard and see if we could find her a new car that would actually work.
It didn’t take long after finding her a new car, a 69 Dodge Charger, that Uncle Bobby had on the back part of his lot, that Y/N and I started dating. Six months after we got together, I popped the question, to which she said yes, and not even six months after that, a year to the day we met, Y/N and got married in a small, intimate ceremony.
She and I moved into this cute little, 4 bedroom, 2 bath farmhouse with a yard big enough for our two Golden Retrievers, Zep and Cash, and our bluetick hound, Lenny. We wanted a place big enough for if our family, well mom, dad, Sammy and Jess, came over and stayed the night or something. And, we also wanted it to be big enough for when we started to grow our own family.
When we first moved in, there wasn’t a fence around our yard, but after a weekend and some help from dad and Uncle Bobby, I had one up, and could let the dogs run around freely. As I close the driver’s door, and step away from Baby, Lenny comes running over from his spot on the porch, and jumps up, putting his front paws against my chest.
I laugh as I pet him. “Hi, boy! I missed you too!”
He barks happily, his tail wagging. I chuckle and gently push him off me and keep walking to the porch. Lenny bounds along behind me, happy that I’m home. I pet his head again before opening the front door, kicking my boots off, and stepping inside.
“Honey? I’m home!” I call, setting my keys on the hook by the door.
“In the kitchen!” I hear my wife call out.
I smile to myself. My wife. After four years of being married, the thought of being married to Y/N still has me grinning like a fool. I pad across the hardwood floor in my grey socks, making my way to the kitchen. Pausing in the doorway, and leaning against the frame, I tuck my hands in my pockets and smile even more at the sight in front of me.
Y/N dances in the kitchen, our little girl, MaryJo in her arms, as she sings our song and bakes something. My stomach growls as the smell of an apple pie in the oven wafts across the room to me. I smile and push myself up off the door frame before walking over to my little family. I place a kiss on Y/N’s cheek, making her jump a little but giggle as she smiles up at me.
“How was work, sweetie?” She asks, moving MaryJo slightly.
I smile as I lean down to kiss our four month old daughter’s head, earning a giggle in response. I lean against the counter, and look at my beautiful wife, taking in the sight of her in my shirt.
“It was good. Extra slow so I was just fixing a car from Bobby’s salvage yard.” I say, grinning.
She giggles. “Is that why you look like you went four rounds with an oil bucket and it won?”
I laugh and look down at my oil stained t-shirt. “I suppose so, baby. You know those old things are covered in so much dirt, grime, and Chuck knows what else.”
She giggles. “That’s fair. Mine definitely was.”
“Mmm. She was. But she’s all clean, and running smoothly now!”
“Thanks to my amazing husband.” She whispers, leaning up to kiss me softly.
I grin as she pulls away. “Mm. Your amazing husband? Hmm. He sounds like a pretty cool dude.”
“Oh, he is! And he’s a sweetheart and an even better father.”
I smile. “Yeah?”
“Oh yeah! See, our daughter, she just loves him to pieces, and has him wrapped around her finger.”
Chuckling, I sneak a glance down at MaryJo, and wink when I see her staring up at me with an adorable, gum-filled smile. She squeals and wiggles in her mama’s arms, making her laugh softly and rub her cheek with my thumb.
“Well, it’s a good thing her daddy loves her to pieces too.” I say, looking back at my wife.
Y/N giggles and nods. I smile and watch her cook.
“How was your day? You girls do anything fun?” I ask.
“Oh, definitely! Let’s see...we napped...mommy did some work while MaryJo napped again after lunch. Um...oh, she got a bath. Then we snuggled and watched Ice Age. After another nap for Princess, and more work for mommy, we decided to bake a pie for when daddy got home.”
I smile. “Sounds like an amazing day! Work’s still letting you work from home? Not still pressuring you to get back to the office?”
Y/N smiles and shakes her head. “Nope! Luckily I can still do whatever I need to from the house. Although, I have to go in one day next week, to turn in the case files I have here and pick up some new ones.”
“Sounds like a plan, baby. Let me know, and I’ll take the day off from the shop, and stay home with our Princess here.”
She smiles up at me. “Maybe Wednesday?”
“Sounds good to me, baby.” I smile, leaning down to kiss her head. “I’m gonna go get cleaned up and come help you finish cooking, yeah?”
“Go get cleaned up, but don’t worry about helping. Dinner’s almost done. And it’s a surprise.”
I chuckle. “Yes, ma’am!”
I give her another gentle kiss before bending down and kissing my little girl’s head, getting another giggle as I do. I smile and make my way out of the kitchen as the front door opens, causing me to look up.
“Sammy? What are you doing here, brother? I thought you weren’t due to come into town for another couple weeks.” I say, confused, as my younger brother steps inside, looking a little panicked.
“Dean!” He exclaims, rushing over to me, and pulling me into his arms. “C’mon, man. We gotta get you outta here!”
I push him back a little, even more confused. “What do you mean, Sam? I just got home? And Y/N’s cooking dinner.”
“Y/N’s here? Dean! It’s a trap. It’s not real!”
I glare at my brother. “My wife and daughter are real, Sam! They’re just as real as you and I! And so is mom, dad, and Jess!”
Sam sighs. “Dean. Mom died when you were 4. Jess died while I was still at Stanford, right after dad went missing. That’s why I got back into hunting. And, dad...Dean, sold his soul to Yellow Eyes to save you after the car wreck. You know this. Now, c’mon. We gotta get you outta here before the Djinn comes back.”
I stare at my brother like he’s grown a second head.
Tumblr media
Suddenly, everything goes black for a second as I blink and when I open my eyes again, I’m no longer in the farmhouse with Y/N and my daughter. Instead, I’m in an old warehouse, leaning against Sam.
“Sam?” I croak out, my throat dry.
“I’ve got you, Dean. Don’t worry. We’re gonna get you outta here. We gotta hurry. The Djinn’s gonna come back soon though.” My brother replies, holding me up.
At the sound of a growl, he and I both look. A Djinn comes running at us. I pull away from Sam, knowing that neither of us will be able to properly fight with my leaning against him. It doesn’t take long for us to destroy the Djinn, even with my weakened, still slightly drugged state. Sam helps me back to the Impala.
For once, I don’t oppose and argue as Sam holds his hand out for the keys. I toss them to him and slide into the passenger side of Baby. Sam gets in and cranks the engine.
“Burgers before we go back to the hotel?” Sam asks.
“No.” I mumble.
“No? Dean? Are you okay? Passing up a burger.”
“No. I need to see Y/N first. I have to tell her something.”
Sam nods. “Alright. Well, she’s at the motel room, waiting. So, we’ll get burgers and go back there.”
I nod and look out the window. Everything that happened while I was in the dream state from the Djinn’s poison floats through my head. And, I want something that every Hunter wants but rarely gets. A family. A shot at a normal life. And, I want it with Y/N. Even though I’ve been denying myself that for the last first years since I came across her on a hunt, I still want it.
And after that dream, the one that felt like reality, I want it even more. There’s no more denying, no more hiding, no more lying about the way I feel about Y/N. And I have to tell her. By the time Sam makes it back to the motel room, I’ve scarfed down one of the four burgers he got for me, and start feeling like myself again.
The moment he parks Baby, I’m out of the car and rushing into the motel. I bust into the room so quickly that Y/N nearly falls off the bed from jumping sky high. Hurrying over to her, I help her get steady on the bed again as I kneel in front of her. Taking her hands in mine, I look up at her.
“I’ve tried denying it. Tried hiding it. Tried lying about it. But I can’t do it anymore.” I start.
She looks at me confused. “Dean? What’s going on? Are you ok?”
I nod. “I will be. I just gotta tell you something.”
“Okay?”
I take a deep breath. “I love you, Y/N. And, I know this life, being a Hunter, ain’t exactly the easiest one to live when you love something. But, something happened and I realized I couldn’t fight it anymore. I had to tell you. Had to at least try. I love you. And, I want a shot at normal, or at least as normal as we can get. You. Me. A kid. Or four. I don’t care. I just want you. By my side. I got a brief taste of it, even if it wasn’t real and I crave it.”
Y/N’s eyes go wide and she opens and closes her mouth a few times. “You...you love me? THE Dean Winchester loves me?”
I nod, not taking my eyes off her as I swallow deeply. “I do. And I want the Apple Pie Life with you, Y/N.”
 Before I can get another word out, to tell her that it’s okay if she doesn’t want to say it now, or ever, she pulls her hands from mine and cups my cheeks and leans forward, pressing her lips to mine. I smile into the kiss and lean up towards her a little more, deepening it just a little, putting all of  my no longer hidden or denied love into it.
As we kiss, something I’ve never felt before, a shock of purely happy energy courses through my body. When we slowly pull back, she rests her forehead against mine, keeping her hands on my cheeks.
“It’s ‘bout damn time you said that, Winchester. Only took you four years.” She whispers. “I was beginning to give up on ever hearing you say that, and the chance for me to say it back.”
“Say it back?” I whisper.
She giggles. “Such a bull-headed man sometimes, Winchester. Yes. Say it back. I love you too.”
I grin from ear to ear and kiss her again. Pie has always been my favorite thing in life, and I want the Apple Pie Life. I need it. And, I need the Apple Pie Life with Y/N.

The Reveal
Keanu Reeves x Reader (A/n- Written in the The One That Stays universe, because I love it, and those characters so much. This is about 3 years post the last chapter, and I was really iffy about posting it, but here we are anyway.)
Warnings- Nothing really, just pregnancy and fluff.
“And I thought I loved you then.” -Then, Brad Paisley
Tumblr media
Warm yellow rays from the barely cloudy sky cast a picturesque gleam on the surface of cool, blue water. That day, thankfully, hadn't been as sweltering as the ones in the weeks gone by, and the forecast predicted for that weekend had been one conducive to recreational boating, which was why they'd decided to rent a yacht for the weekend. Joining them had been Keanu's side of the family, his sister, her husband and his mother, along with Julie, her husband Eric and their two year old Lucas.
It was their second day out on the water, anchored off the coast of Los Angeles and by late afternoon, everyone had gathered on deck, around the small pool to hang out. Eric had taken to the pool to humor Lucas, as had Keanu's brother in law, while everyone else had kicked back on lounge chairs. Y/n was laid back on Keanu's chest, his worn shirt soft and comforting against her exposure arms as his legs spread slightly to accommodate her bare one. One of his large hands were splayed on her stomach, while the other absently twirled the ends of her hair, something he'd taken to doing after she'd let her tresses grow out a bit longer, all while Y/n toyed with her wedding band. The diamonds shone proudly in the sunlight, and though the ring hand made its home on her finger almost two years ago, Y/n couldn't help but smile faintly. She was Mrs. Y/n Reeves.
"You okay?" Keanu broke her thoughts, gently rubbing her rounded stomach. They were just under four months shy of welcoming their first child. They’d been discussing having a baby even before they married, in a small ceremony at Keanu’s favorite hotel, but hadn’t gotten down to actually trying until about a year earlier, when he had decided to cut back on the amount of roles he took and Y/n’s work schedule cleared up. Thankfully, though their road to pregnancy hadn’t been a trying one, they were both fairly healthy and it greatly helped that they were usually all over each other, and within about three months of being off her birth control, they had taken a home test, which had confirmed that Y/n was indeed pregnant. Since then, Keanu’s protectiveness had nearly quadrupled; the woman he loved was carrying their child, and he’d be damned if anything remotely bad happened to either of his favorite people.
Shifting a bit in his embrace, she laid one of her smaller hands next to his, feeling the light kicks of their baby, like butterflies fluttering in her stomach. According to Julie, those were only going to get stronger, and apparently a little painful, but Y/n didn’t care, she’d endure it any day if the reward was having their child in her arms afterwards. “Yeah,” Y/n smiled softly, nuzzling his chest with her cheek, “I’m good, we both are.”
“Good,” Keanu bent to kiss the top of her head, reassured for the time being. He’d been a little skeptical when Y/n and his sister had conjured up the idea of taking a boat out for the weekend; out on the water, if anything happened to her, getting to her doctor or the hospital would take longer than he preferred, and there had already some difficulties that had him almost constantly on edge. But, alas, Y/n was extremely persuasive and eventually convinced him that she was fine to get away for the long weekend, “And-”
A gasp from his mother, Patrica from her own chair as she set her cocktail down cut off Keanu’s words, and everyone turned to her, “I just remembered,” she sat up, eyes fixed on them both, “You two had an appointment this week, did Dr. Shaw tell you the sex?”
Boy or girl, it had recently become a hot topic in the Reeves family. Every time they all met, it somehow came up; what family names would work if it were a boy, how cute they’d dress up a little girl and Y/n was even sure that their was a bet going on between her sister-in-law and Julie, “We didn’t,” Keanu chuckled, “This little one was turned away from us; shy like their mommy.”
“And their daddy!” Y/n playfully slapped his thigh, giggling when he tucked her closer. When their laughter died down, Y/n elaborated, “I promise, you’ll be the first call when we find out.”
“Call?” Patrica repeated incredulously, as if the word were a capital crime in itself. How dare they simply call?
“We’ll take you to dinner?” Keanu scrunched his nose, trying to appease her. He knew it was a big deal, almost every family member had made sure to remind them of it, but surely, it couldn’t be that big.
“Dinner- ugh,” she put a long, manicured finger to her temple, her entire, though possibly exasperated expression, was hidden by her dark sunglasses, though, her words were enough to tell them just how much a their options had not sufficed, “I’ve waited twenty years for my only son to get married to a nice girl. And now, they’re having a baby, and all I get, after all this waiting, is a phone call? My grand-baby is worth more than a phone call, you need to have a reveal.”
Julie squealed in agreement, “Oh! That would be perfect! You could do it where we had ours, at that cute little pastry shop in the city.” Y/n remembered that party well, especially since she’d nearly planned the entire thing. Julie had gone the perhaps, more old fashioned route, with a cake reveal. They’d rented out her favorite shop for an afternoon and gathered their closest friends and family for the vintage style soiree, where everyone was encouraged to wear a color that matched their suspicions; pastel blues and greens for a boy and light pinks and purples for a girl. Y/n, who’d been sure that she was going to have a godson from the very beginning, had opted for a cute blue dress with white lace trimming, claiming victory over Keanu who’d opted for a pink, which he dubbed salmon, shirt.
“A gender reveal?” Y/n shifted again, scooting upwards, aided by Keanu and subsequently tucking her head in his neck after turning on her side. Quite recently, finding comfortable positions had started becoming quite a daunting task, but somehow, being cuddled to, or rather on top of,  Keanu had remained Y/n’s favorite. “We didn’t really think of doing one of those, my mom already wants to do a baby shower, we just feel like it's too much.”
“Yeah,” Keanu chimed in, trying to be another voice of reason, “Besides, that’s a lot of work, and we’re supposed to be keeping an eye on her blood pressure-”
“Well then let me plan it,” his mother protested, determined to have a reveal, “I’m sure Julie and Karina will help, and we can have it at her place too.”
Perking up, Karina joined their conversation, “Oh! That would be perfect,” she clapped her hands excitedly, no doubt on board with the idea. She’d been bursting with excitement since they’d announced that they were expecting, teasing that having a baby in the family this time around would be more fun considering she wasn’t the one who’d have to wake up at four am feedings. She was however, down to babysit whenever her niece or nephew started sleeping through the night. Yeah, their family thought of it all. “I’d love to help!”
“Count me in too,” Julie beamed, taking her son in her arms just as Eric came out from the pool, handing him over so he could go get Lucas a towel.
And then, before Y/n and Keanu knew it, the three women were all involved in planning a party that they hadn’t even signed off on, though, at that point, it was clear that they didn’t have a choice anyway. “Perfect, all you two will have to do is show up,” she smiled triumphantly.
Tumblr media
Three weeks later Y/n was a the snack table, surveying its contents and deciding if she wanted something, when Keanu came up behind her, causing her to jump with he placed  gentle hands on her shoulders, pecking the crown of Y/n’s hair, “It’s just me sweetheart,” he chuckled, his baritone warm and familiar.
“You startled me,” Y/n pressed one hand to her chest over the neckline of her white flowing dress, while the other cradled her bump. The little, unofficial planning committee had instructed guests to wear white, though, the decor had entailed a charming mix of baby blue and a light pink, beautifully mixed to compliment each other. The deserts; everything from inviting cupcakes to cute cake pops and elegant looking macaroons, and party favors, mostly made of little pouches filled with jelly beans along with fuzzy topped pens along with several other little trinkets, were also color coordinated. The ladies had really gone out, though arguably, simple wasn’t exactly their MO. “This is supposed to be a gender reveal, not a baby reveal,” she joked, turning to face Keanu.
“You’re right,” his lips brushed her forehead, one of his hands on her waist sliding to her stomach, “Wouldn’t want our bun popping out too soon,” he crouched down, so he could ‘talk to the baby,’ something he’d been doing for months now, “As excited as we are to meet you, you still gotta keep mommy company in there for a few more months.”
Threading her delicate hand through his dark mane a fond sorire upturned Y/n’s pink stained lips. She absolutely adored those little moments that Keanu would spend chatting with their baby, at first, he’d started with brief sentences, ‘I love you’s and ‘can’t wait to meet you’s, but as months drew on, and it the reality set in, Keanu had started reading to her belly, and sometimes at night, when he’d join her in bed, he could spend well over an hour talking about all the things he’d teach them as they grew up. Already, he was proving to be an exceptional father; extremely loving and always ready to put his wife and child first, and Y/n knew that things would only get better when they met their baby.
She was so lost in her own thoughts, that Y/n had barely heard a thing of what Keanu had said, only returning to the moment when he pressed a chaste kiss to her tummy, offering one final declaration of love before standing again and heading to another end of the table after kissing Y/n one last time. "What are you doing?" She giggled as he picked up a pen and a little blank card out of a stack next to two decorative wooden boxes. The entire set up was for one of the many games being run that day, where their guests could vote on their options. Before the reveal later that evening, someone was supposed to count them and the reward would be satisfaction at the end.
"I'm placing my bet," Keanu defended, scribbling on the white surface as he spoke.
"It's not a bet," Y/n placed a hand at the top of her growing bump as she made her way over to him, standing on her toes to peer over the loose shield he'd made with his hand, "You're going with girl again, huh?"
"Hey, Julie and Eric's baby was one thing, but I think I know our kid," folding the card in half, creasing it for emphasis, Keanu slipped it into the box with the word "girl” carved in cursive at the front, "This baby," he palmed her stomach with both hands, "Is definitely a girl."
Rolling her eyes, Y/n decided that she'd get in on it too, plucking on of the cards from its spot, swiping the pen from off the table and using Keanu's chest to press on, "Well, you must like being wrong," she chewed on her lower lip as she wrote, dramatically showing Keanu what she'd written before slipping it into the matching box labeled boy, "I was right then, and I'm right now."
"And how are you so sure of that?" The giddy smile of both their faces didn't show any signs of fading as Keanu reeled Y/n back in, "Why don't we bet on it?"
“Because I’m carrying the baby, duh,” she rolled her eyes playfully. Throwing her arms around his neck, Y/n twirled the ends of Keanu's hair in her fingers, leaning into his chest as far as she could, "And yeah,”  his arms circled Y/n's waist, toying with the lace on her flowing maxi dress, "Let's do it. What does the winner get?"
Keanu scrunched up his face, looking up thoughtfully, "The winner gets….." he thought on it some more, "Whatever they want."
Y/n eyed her husband suspiciously for a minute, a little curious about what he could possibly want, if by some miracle, he won. "Okay," she finally said, “Winner gets whatever they want,” Y/n smiled mischievously, almost certain that she would be triumphant.
Tumblr media
Hours later, just before noon had turned to evening and when the brightness had gone hazy as the sun journeyed to the horizon, everyone had gathered in the backyard, on the lawn for the long awaited moment. It was time for the reveal. They’d gone with a balloon reveal, and when it was time, Y/n and Keanu were positioned near the fence, just a few feet in front of their family and friends, all ready with phone and cameras. Keanu held on to the string of the large, shiny black balloon, one with a silver question mark painted on at the front, while Y/n had been armed with a metal skewer from Karina’s kitchen.
Just about an hour earlier, the contents of both boxes had been counted, and the team banking on Baby Reeves being a boy had come in strong, outnumbering the other side by a landslide. The small victory, though it couldn’t be considered a real prediction, had only built Y/n’s faith in her own suspicions, almost everyone, even down to her own parents, were convinced that she and Keanu would be greeting a son in the coming months.
“Ready?” Keanu’s eyes met hers, the nerves shared between them, along with bright, excited grins plastered on both their faces. They both knew that in the end; boy or girl, daughter or son, it wouldn’t matter. None of it would matter as long as their baby was healthy and safe.
Y/n nodded vigorously, using her free hand to tuck some hair behind her ear, positioning the skewer near the opaque balloon, “Yeah.” Somewhere in the crowd, she heard her mother anxiously prompt her to “just do it already,” while someone else interjected that their camera was ready, “Okay, okay,” Y/n laughed, ready to get on with the moment of truth.
Taking a deep breath, Y/n didn’t even try to steady her shaking hand as she finally pressed the tip of the stick to the balloon, wincing and shutting her eyes tightly at the loud popping sound. The crowd cheered loudly, jubilance igniting a celebration and when Y/n opened her eyes, her jaw hung slack with shock. Rendered speechless, she just stood there, rooted to the floor, dropping the skewer and placing her hands on her stomach, barely smiling breathlessly at the patter of kicks beneath her palms. “Oh my god…..” Tears of joy welled up in her eyes as she raised her head to meet Keanu’s equally glistening gaze, “I…..”
For a second, he too seemed shocked, and the jeers of congratulations faded in the background as everything moved in slow motion. She could have sworn that there had never been so much love in his eyes, and Keanu thought that he’d never been that happy, though, their wedding day came in at a very close second. Suddenly, the prospect of parenthood seemed a thousand times realer. After that evening, so much would change, they would finally choose a name.
Without another moment of hesitation, Keanu took her into his strong arms, lifting Y/n off the ground and spinning her in a circle and planting a passionate on her ready lips. In turn, she hugged him tightly, forgetting everything and everyone else as they basked in their joy. “So,” he began when he set her down, brushing some pink confetti off her shoulders and picking a couple similar pieces out of her hair, “I guess you were wrong,” he chortled, still holding her close.
Nodding, Y/n looked at the ground around them; the healthy green grass was now freckled with bits of fuchsia pink, “I guess I was, we’re having a little girl,” she kissed him again, that time quicker, not even caring that everyone was still taking pictures of them, “You win.”
“I do,” Keanu pressed their forehead together, the tip of his nose brushing hers. By then, they both looked equally rosy, the sheer joy of the matter seeping through their skin, “And I know just what I want to cash in my win for.”
“What’s that?” Y/n giggled.
“This,” and before she knew it, Keanu was dipping her, one hand holding Y/n steady at the center of her back, while the other cradled her head. Her loose tresses hung in a waterfall, disturbed only by Keanu’s stocky fingers, just as he captured her lips again, in a breath stealing bout of sweet endearment.

January 12, 2021: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) (Part 1)
Hey, uh...
Tumblr media
I can’t remember if I’ve seen this movie or not.
OK, HEAR ME OUT HERE. I was 9 years old when this movie came out in the USA, and I vividly remember the buzz around this movie when it came out in theaters. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, for those of you who don’t know, is the movie that really introduced wuxia to the United States in the modern century. Directed by Ang Lee - y’know, this guy...
Tumblr media
...buuuuuuuuuut, also this guy...
Tumblr media
AND YET, still this guy...
Tumblr media
- this movie has won a HELL of a lot of awards, and was the critical darling of 2000. And again, I know some of you Tumblrites (goddamn Zoomers DO YOU EVEN REMEMBER NICKELODEON ORANGE AS A COLOR??? Kidding, by the way, y’all are cool) may not be old enough to remember that time, but lemme tell you: this movie was a Mandarin-language movie nominated for Best Picture. Not just Best Foreign Language Film (which it WON), but BEST. PICTURE. Trust me. It was a big deal at the time.
The film actually did win Best Original Score, Best Art Direction, and Best Cinematography. And as I watch this, I’m going to be remembering both the time period it came out in, and the film that actually won Best Picture that year. What won Best Picture that year, you ask? Well...
Tumblr media
Yeah. But is CTHD better or worse than Gladiator? Well, that’s what I’m gonna try to figure out, as well as whether or not 9-year-old me saw this movie already. I don’t think so, so that’s why I’m watching it now.
So LET’S GO BACK TO THE YEAR 2000, PEOPLE! We just got over that whole Y2K thing (only for the ILOVEYOU virus to pop up), the election was TOTALLY NORMAL (that’s a joke, it...it was not), AOL was the most successful internet company ever (HA! Classic. And Ask Jeeves is gonna last forever, I’m sure), and the below movie would win Best Makeup at the Oscars.
Tumblr media
Yeah. Yeah, that’s an Academy Award-winning movie. How the hell does THAT make you feel? Makes me feel conflicted, I tell you what. ANYWAY MOVIE TIME SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Recap
Tumblr media
Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun Fat, the man himself), a member of the Wudang sect of swordsmen, is retiring. He goes to his old friend (and maybe more), and leader of a private security group, Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh), who asks her to deliver his personal sword, Green Destiny. Shu Lien goes to Beijing to deliver the sword to an ally of theirs, Sir Te (Sihung Lung), while Mu Bai goes to the grave of his master, who was killed by an assassin named Jade Fox.
Tumblr media
In Beijing, Sir Te and Shu Lien talk about the whole “more than friends” thing between her and Mu Bai, and they go to store the sword in a study. There, Sir Te’s granddaughter, Jen (Zhang Ziyi), speaks to Shu Lien about the sword, and about the nature of swordsmanship. This serves an introduction into the world of wuxia swordmanship...and I am GODDAMN HOOKED IN
Tumblr media
So is Jen, it would seem, as she speaks with admiration about the freedom that comes with the Way of the Sword (which is distinctly different from the Way of Sarah (Blessed Be Her Fall)). See, Jen’s about to get married, in that arranged way, and she’s not a fan of the whole marriage thing. I get the feeling that she’s planning on doing something about that.
Tumblr media
But no time for existential crises now! Someone’s trying to steal Green Destiny! A ninja sneaks in and succeeds in stealing it, but Shu Lien attempts to stop them. However, the thief is trained in Wudan, much to Shu Lien’s surprise. A rooftop chase occurs, giving us the first display of the rampant wire work and loose physics characteristic of this genre, and GODDAMN IT FUCK YE-NO
Keep it together, man, you gotta treat this film critically and seriously, not like an excited little kid watch some kickass martial arts shit. Even though this fight scene is AWESOME, holy shit...
Tumblr media
The thief succeeds, but only because a second assailant appears with a dart, distracting Shu Lien. In the morning, the night guard says it was someone from Governor Yu’s household. In the street, the attacker is believed to be the mysterious Jade Fox, who would covet the sword of the man she killed so long ago. Ugh, this movie already rules so hard. Anyway, Shu Lien comes to see Jen again, who’s currently writing calligraphy.
Tumblr media
Shu Lien comments that calligraphy writing is similar to swordsmanship. Jen quickly notes that she wouldn’t know. She expounds again on her regrets on marriage, and Shu Lien explains that she was engaged to a fellow swordsman who died. And although Shu Lien and Li Mu Bai love each other, they both feel bound to their fallen friend, and do not act on their feelings. Oh my God, I’m digging this fated romance shit SO HARD
NO. Professionalism. Breathe...focus on the year 2000...Napster...Survivor and Fear Factor...Harry Potter...Pokemon the Movie 2000...Pokemon the Movie 2000: The Power of One...
Tumblr media
...Whew. OK. Back to CTHD.
Jen rests in her home, while two people spy on the...Yus. Wait, Jen’s name is...Yu Jen. Um...it’s her. The ninja is Jen. You couldn’t see it in the GIFS, but the ninja could easily be a woman, no question. It’s totally Jen, acting on her desire to be a true swordsperson. I mean, look at her stare at that sword earlier in the movie. Calling it now, it’s her. But...who threw the dart from the rooftop?
Looks like it’s Jade Fox, as a man from earlier explains. See, he’s a police chief from another area, looking for Jade Fox. He believes that she’s somehow infiltrated the Yu household, possibly arriving with them to Beijing. Jade Fox killed the policeman’s wife, making this personal. Together, the policeman Tsai (Wang Deming) and the Night Guard Bo (Gao Xi’an) team up to find her.
They aren’t the only ones, as Li Mu Bai just arrived to Beijing to talk with Shu Lien, and finds out that Jade Fox ha returned. Remember, Jade Fox killed his master, so he has some stakes in this. Meanwhile that night, Tsai and Bo (Team Law) meet Jade Fox, AKA...Jen’s governess! NICE.
Tumblr media
Jade Fox (Cheng Pei-pei) fights the...wait...wait WHAT DID I JUST TYPE???
CHENG PEI-PEI FROM COME DRINK WITH ME IS THE VILLAIN OF THIS MOVIE???
And now Chow Yun Fat is fighting one of the first wuxia film stars? OH MY GOD
Chow Yun Fat’s about to kill her to avenge his master, and then the mysterious ninja (AKA probably Yu Jen) saves her from him. The two of them fight, and Jade Fox kills Tsai just before they escape using a streamer HOOOOOOOO IT’S REAL HARD STAYING PROFESSIONAL RIGHT NOW
Tumblr media
The next morning, though, Yu Jen learns more about Jade’s crimes, and expresses guilt about taking Green Destiny. Additionally, Shu Lien claims to know who the culprit is, and threatens them with punishment unless the sword is returned. Essentially confirming my suspicions, the ninja returns that night to put the sword back, and Mu Bai is waiting there for her.
Yet another physics-defying rooftop chase occurs, although this one is less frought. They actually refer to the gliding technique as “flying,” and as a technique of Wudan. Interesting, engaging, cinematical, movielian, I love it. I need more of it, MORE PLEASE.
Tumblr media
Looks like I might get what I want. Mu Bai offers to be Jen’s teacher, as he sees great potential in her. But she shuns the ways of Wudan, allows Mu Bai to take back Green Destiny, and returns to Jade Fox. Jade Fox is trained as a Giang Hu fighter, a more brutal lifestyle.
And yet, Jen isn’t really into that either. Turns out that she’s been studying the Wudan manual on her own, and has EFFORTLESSLY surpassed her illiterate former master. With nothing left to teach her, Jade Fox leaves with a veiled threat.
Tumblr media
The next night, a man visits Jen, and they embrace passionately. He’s a bandit from the Gobi Desert named Lo, AKA Dark Cloud (Chang Chen), and the two met when his gang ambushed her caravan travelling through the desert. He stle her comb, and this girl just GETS ON A HORSE, GRABS A BOW AND ARROW, and HUNTS HIM DOWN LIKE A DOG FOR THAT COMB. She faces down the gang of bandits, and Dark Cloud leads her away, gives her water, and she KICKS HIS ASS!! But she asses out from exhaustion, and he takes her back to his Cave of Wonders.
Tumblr media
He cares for her, and as soon as she regains her strength, she just knocks him out. Cold-blooded, goddamn. But she gets lost in the desert, and passes out again. Lo brings her BACK to the Cave of Wonders, and cares for her AGAIN. My dude is a PRINCE. I mean, he’s a thief and probably a murderer, and definitely a bad person, BUT NEVER MIND THAT FOR NOW.
As you probably guessed, Stockholm/Lima Syndromes set in, and the two fall in love...like you do?
Tumblr media
But Jen’s nobleman father is looing for her, making trouble for Lo and his people. He vows to go legit and make himself worthy for her love in her father’s eyes. He tells a story of a boy who leapt off a mountain to save his parents. A literal leap of faith. In their last night together, she gives him the comb that brought them together, saying to give it back when they’re together again.
But now...Jen’s fated to marry, and it can’t be avoided. Lo gives the comb back to her, as she tells him to leave. And I...I need a break. If I don’t take a five minute break, Imma explode from how much I love this goddamn movie.

Custom Toonami Block Week 73 Rundown
Code Geass: Lelouch and co. are still stuck in China and Xingke’s flipping out because the Chinese assholes are gonna kill the Empress and go with someone less problematic for their political marriage to Britannia’s creepily overaged prince. However Lelouch pulls out a Knightmare that’s basically the Twink version of the Gawain and busts everyone up as well as pulling a Father Cornello on them and letting the people know they’re all elitst 1% assholes that don’t care about them, which I suspect all countries probably know about their leaders but it sucks to hear it in a recording so riots show up all over China and CC Geass Flashes Anya to take her out so Britannia has to back out because the Chinese Hierarchy are now the least popular people in the world. So Xingke gets to be with his Empress and joins the Black Knights but Dietard wants the Empress to marry someone on their side so they can basically do the asshole move Britannia just tried to do but for them. All the girls are like ‘hey no’ and Lelouch is like “Oh hey Tamaki buddy, let’s go talk and get me the fuck out of here” so before Lelouch actually has to give Tamaki more lines and elevate him beyond the Black Knight’s Yamacha Shirley calls and Lelouch just straight up asks Shirley about love in a weirdly forced series of circumstance. But Shirley’s like “Yeah don’t fuck with love, don’t you love anyone?” and Lelouch is like “Yeah I do, Nunally!” and I don’t think that’s at all what Shirley meant but it does mean Lelouch sees that fighting for something beyond politics is powerful and agrees to not marry off the twelve year old girl, so that’s good. Lelouch decides to return home while they hunt down the Geass cult which is in China for some reason despite that being one of the like two places on earth Britannia doesn’t control and the Geass Cult largely being a Britannian affair. Meanwhile Sayoko is basically a Lelouch Vtuber at this point with her insanely accurate Lupin III mask of Lelouch and kisses Shirley so Shirley’s a little bit more gay than she was before and is not sure how to feel about that. When she’s about to tell the real Lelouch he kisses like a girl, Anya and Gino show up because we’re retreading the whole ‘sleeping with the enemy at school’ thing from the first season except with way less interesting enemies. Also the preview for the next episode is Lelouch dramatically talking about enemies finding out he’s Zero overtop footage of Shirley and Milly absolutely naked in a batthouse scene so I think we know what kind of episode that’ll be.
Inuyasha: The Panther Demon filler concludes with everyone meeting at the site where the Panther Master is being revived behind a strong barrier, if only someone just got a barrier upgrade to their sword, oh wait. But yeah everyone manages to free the hostages so even though Kagome’s jewel shards revives the Panther Master he’s still a zombie without a sacrifice which is weird since Naraku managed to completely revive the Band of Seven with one jewel shard each from skeletons and the Panther Lord has three shards so idk the rules here but yeah he steals the souls of his own men to revive and is Wind Scar Proof because he just is. It’s pretty cool to see him shooting his claws and lightning and shit but he’s too big and slow for it to be much of an interesting fight. Sesshomaru’s about to go full demon which would be interesting since we haven’t seen his full demon form since he lost his arm but in a neat bit of character development, Tenseiga calms his rage and tells him to use it instead. You get the feeling Sesshomaru only goes full demon when he flies off the handle and forgets about speed and strategy so him opting to not repeat the mistake he made against Inuyasha is pretty cool. Anyway Tenseiga heals the souls of the Panther Demons and drains their energy from the lord so he’s back to Zombie Cat Man which Inuyasha can Wind Scar because that’s what happens to villains on this show, all Wind Scars all the time. The Panthers don’t wanna fight anymore since their boss just killed them and tell Inuyasha to tell Sesshomaru the feud is over and they’re going back to the West. Honestly this is basically the same backstory they gave Kirinmaru in Yashahime so it’s funny for them to say they’re going back to the same place Kirinmaru is from, wonder if it’ll ever come up in Yashahime since most filler seems canon there.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Yusuke and Kuwabara continue the assault on Tarukane’s compound and basically plow through the lower demons easy since they’ve been fighting minor deities up to this point. It’s always pretty cool in Shonen to just have a few rounds to show how much power creep the heroes have had where certain things just don’t bother them anymore. Toguro murders a Chimera which has an oddly similar backstory to Nina from FMA and he seems really bummed about it but he’s like “Hey we’re both monsters made by humans telling us to do shit, so sorry for killing you bro”. And Tarukane basically sees Toguro is the next boss and is like “Yup time to scam some people off of this” and he sets up a betting ring for how far Yusuke and Co will get into his compound. This is kinda neat because it puts Tarukane in the weird position of betting against his own guards and hoping Yusuke will make it all the way to Toguro and then lose after everyone else has seen how awesome Yusuke is and bets on him. And funnily enough Sakyo’s in on the betting and he’s watched anime before so he knows to bet on the plucky teenagers with weird powers. So yeah Yusuke and Kuwabara finish plowing through the demons while Hiei kinda stalks them and remembers getting his eye surgery and wanting to help his sister but it’s kind of against spirit world rules for demons to just go plow through humans even if they’re scumbag humans so now Yusuke and Kuwabara have to go fight the Triad of boss demons Toguro has under him before Hiei busts in and just murders everyone for kidnapping his bird-loving jewel-crying little flower of a sister.
Fate Zero: So Kiritsugu can break Kayneth’s Terminator 2 Gaara defenses with rib bullets that just say ‘no’ to using magic and fucks his arrogant ass up. Saber and Lancer do some combo shenanigans to stab Caster right in the book and disrupt all his hentai tentacle demons but the book heals so idk why he can’t just make more. Kirei fucks up Maiya and Iris but didn’t double tap Maiya and DID double tap iris but she’s got Saber’s bullshit healing scabbard on her which no one knows about so Saber’s like “uhhh why are you healing” and Iris can’t tell her so she’s basically “Uhh internet?” Lancer comes in to save Kayneth’s worthless ass and tells Kiritsugu to stop being a dick to Saber because she’s pretty dope. But as usual for an early Fate encounter, no one dies and nothing of terrible consequence happens despite it being teased a couple times. I’ve noticed a trend with Fate that it really doesn’t like killing characters early so you’re basically guaranteed to have the first 2-3 major battles have a zero net gain/loss. Rider in UBW was probably the subversion to that since it happened crazy fast and anticlimactic but even that wasn’t till like ten episodes in.
Konosuba: So we finally meet Wiz the big booby Lich and Kazuma learns a new skill, both fun things. Also the gang gets a house to stay in after escapades with an army of haunted dolls and the most “I need to pee” in a horror setting since Corpse Party. But yeah, good progress this time honestly, the living in a stable gag was getting kind of old so Kazuma’s a bit stronger now and they have a home base so that’s pretty cool. Also Wiz is a Demon General or some shit but no one cares cause there ain’t no money in murdering busty zombie waifus.
Sailor Moon Crystal: So turns out Minako is Princess Serenity, except everyone who knows anything about Sailor Moon or indeed plot structure knows Sailor Moon is Princess Serenity, that’s like the Luke I Am Your Father of this series. But still turns out Minako has been guiding everyone with the power of video games but also thinks the power of friendship sucks and she’s gotta go do everything alone. This makes things super awkward because Mamoru’s pretty sure he was in love with the Princess but likes Usagi, now instead of running with this interesting thread of a reincarnation falling in love with someone new we’re gonna do the reveal that Usagi’s the princess and the whole ‘till death do us part’ part of marriage was just a metaphor and you’re stuck with one person no matter how many times you reincarnate. But yeah, Minako fights the bad guy on top of the tower but he has Naraku’s Barrier now and Minako doesn’t have the Red Tessaiga upgrade yet so she needs the power of friendship but this barrier is friendship-proof and this fight is basically a bunch of kids on the playground making up increasingly stupid powers that negate the other powers the other guy just made up. Anyway Tuxedo Mask shows up and is like “Holy shit Sailor Moon I love when you kiss me and kick ass, go get em sweetie I’ll hold your flower” and they kiss and Usagi has learned that if she just pretends she got this the power of her confidence will beat the bad guy. Unfortunately she does not got this and Tuxedo Mask has to pull a Piccolo and throw himself in front of the blast.
Durarara!!:  So now that we’ve had our climax for the arc we have a six month timeskip and everyone’s just kinda living life, Mika and Seiji are being clinically insane together, there’s cops harassing Celty to the point of mental breakdown (normal cop stuff) Shinra’s dad’s in town, Namie’s become Izaya’s secretary for blackmail shit, you know, normal stuff. Also there’s a katana-wielding maniac going around slashing people and Anri’s being bullied and sexually harassed to the point of mental collapse, normal stuff.

My personal connection with Taylor’s discography, part two: Right Where You Left Me
Basically this is just a series I’m doing where I write down my feelings on what each of the Taylor songs means to me personally. Part one was my relationship with It’s Time To Go, which you can find here.
Before we get started with this one though, I just want to mention how much I love this song, even outside of relatability. While I do prefer Taylor’s ‘mature’ voice nowadays, the fact she tapped into her ‘fetus Taylor’/RED era voice in an album filled with her ‘mature’ voice to show that she’s stuck at an age that no longer suitable/where she’s meant to be adds a lot to the song. Likewise, the urgency she uses when saying ‘Help!’ because it feels like an emergency to her makes me want to scream every time I hear it.
Anyway, with that being said, this is how I personally relate to this song.
Right Where You Left Me
As a whole, this song is one of the most relatable songs of Taylor’s for me right now. It is somehow comforting, yet also reads me like a book. It is also one of the many songs Taylor has written that I relate back to the trauma of losing my family. Specifically, Right Where You Left Me feels like a vocalisation of what I feel on the worst of days where I do not feel strong enough to go on alone and just want them to come back. Because of this, Taylor’s ‘immature’ voice adds even more to the song as the situation it relates to in my own life makes me feel like a child crying out for their parents to help them.
Friends break up, friends get married
Basically I’m at this part of my life where it feels like all my friends are hitting these milestones that not only do I not feel close to hitting, I just have no interest in hitting them because I’m too focused on what happened with my family.
Strangers get born, strangers get buried
In the last year or so, I found out through facebook that I am an aunt and via the phone that my grandfather, someone who called me their favourite grandchild, had died. These are people who should in theory mean the world to me, but instead, they were born/died strangers to me, as will any other members of my family. And as a result, I felt nothing hearing the news.
Trends change, rumors fly through new skies. But I'm right where you left me. Matches burn after the other
Time has passed, but I still stuck in that moment, so much so that things that used to catch my interest no longer phase me.
Pages turn and stick to each other
A lot of people have spoken about how this song is about trauma, but I feel like this line is often left out of the conversation when it’s perhaps the most obvious show of it. When you’re traumatised, time all blurs together and as a result, you often find yourself in a position where you’re questioning how you even got there or feeling like you’ve missed part of the story. And part of this goes with my friends’ lives too. Like it feels like I am so stuck in the moment my family fell apart that I wake up some days noticing my friends have made these achievements that I didn’t even know they were working up for despite them telling me things I just do not remember. In non-traumatised terms, it’s almost like being invited to a wedding where you thought the bride was still single.
Wages earned and lessons learned. But I'm right where you left me
Obviously life has still gone on for both myself and my family. None of us have just stayed in bed for almost six years doing literal nothing, at least from what I know. I’ve started and finished my degrees, assumingly my family has gone to work etc and I’ve been able to reflect on what went wrong and why not to trust them again. But despite that, it still feels like just yesterday that this all went down. The damage losing my family has done is and may always be a fresh wound.
Help, I'm still at the restaurant, still sitting in a corner I haunt cross-legged in the dim light. They say, "What a sad sight"
Continuing from the above, I am still traumatised and don’t really know how to move past this. And while most of my friends have tried to help, there’s nothing they can realistically do but say that they’re sorry that it happened.
I swear you could hear a hair pin drop right when I felt the moment stop. Glass shattered on the white cloth
Christmas Day 2015. Before then my sister had been in a two year cycle of running away but coming back for special events to get gifts. So when she didn’t show on Christmas, I knew she wasn’t coming back. Also the moment I read the facebook messages from my extended family stating that they’d rather I starve and be homeless than speak to my father about helping put the family back together.
Everybody moved on. I stayed there. Dust collected on my pinned up hair
Again the continuation of the idea that it feels like everyone around me has moved on and done amazing things and I’ve just sat here, achieving nothing.
They expected me to find somewhere, Some perspective. But I sat and stared right where you left me
My family falling apart was one of those ‘everyone knew before me’ moments. Like friends of mine have flat out pointed out that the signs were there from when I was like ten. And yet, part of me held on thinking that anyone in my family would come back and fix things someday.
Did you ever hear about the girl who got frozen? Time went on for everybody else, she won't know it
Again, so much time has passed since then and everyone else (barring my mother) seems to have moved on, leaving this trauma behind as just a memory and yet it feels incomprehensible that this happened and that I was meant to do anything afterwards until this got sorted.
She's still twenty-three inside her fantasy, how it was supposed to be
I still spend so so much time wishing things were different and imagining all these different events in our lives that the other should be at and how it should have been even though I know at the end of the day that just breaks my heart worse when I am forced to reconcile that that’s never going to happen.
Did you hear about the girl who lives in delusion?
I spent two years truly believing my father would eventually realise how messed up the situation was and reuniting my sister and extended family with me, my brother and/or mother even though he had the means to do so the whole time but didn’t. Or that my sister would come home on her own at 18 knowing mum couldn’t set boundaries anymore. Or at very least, one of the extended family would call and ask how they could help. Like I had zero reason to have faith in these people anymore, and yet I sat around like a delusional idiot truly thinking that 2015 wasn’t the end for my family.
Breakups happen every day, you don't have to lose it
In an attempt to either make me feel better or just move past the subject, I’ve had people in my life constantly compare it to their siblings who came back or their parents divorce where they still speak to both parents or just generally telling me that I’ve gotta forget them and just move on to be okay. And while well meaning, it has just felt more isolating and like they want me to just shut up for their sakes, even if they don’t mean it to. As a result, I’ve been left to fester more about it, because outside therapy, I have nowhere to put that energy. And as someone who feels like they can “infodump”/rant and then move on, at least for a while, it’s the most frustrating thing.
She's still twenty-three inside her fantasy and you're sitting in front of me at the restaurant when I was still the one you want, cross-legged in the dim light. Everything was just right
While it was not the last day I had with her, the last positive memory I have of my sister was when the three of us went to Merimbula, my then favourite place in the world, to visit my grandmother in January 2015. It was the time in my life where I was the happiest, both with myself and how the rest of my life was going, and felt that everything was going to work out. We had just moved my sister to a different school away from the people who were pushing her to act out (they later transferred to the same school :/), I was about to start my degree, I felt the most recovered from my PTSD, Bipolar and Eating Disorder than I ever had and I felt the most loved I ever had, both by my family and others. Looking back at the photos from that trip, I also noticed that it’s the only photos I’ve smiled in and the most huggy I’ve ever been towards my sister and father.
I could feel the mascara run. You told me that you met someone
This line specifically feels aimed at my father and the moment in 2017 he told me that he’d rather stick with my sister and allow her to do whatever she likes than stand by my side and try to reconnect the family and I realised that that was never going to change.
I'm sure that you got a wife out there, kids and Christmas. But I'm unaware ‘cause I'm right where
Like I said, I know I have a nephew that I’ll never meet now. I know my younger cousins are probably getting married and having these other events, but I’m never going to be part of that and I can’t even comprehend having those events for myself after what happened. The specific mention of Christmas also feels like a kick in the guts not only as the day that I realised my sister wasn’t coming back, but that was the main time we saw everyone from the extended family and would literally spend like 12 hours at my uncle’s place for the day.
I cause no harm, mind my business
Again, I just cannot find it in myself to do anything anymore. I don’t get involved in things I used to, I don’t make new connections and I can’t bring myself to explain what happened. I just go through the motions of living the same day, over and over.
If our love died young I can't bear witness
Quite frankly, I’ve pushed this shit so far to the back of my head because I just cannot face the pain, even after all this time. Like taking a ‘out of sight, out of mind’ approach and trying to rationalise it to myself that everyone else was right and this was inevitable is the only way I’ve been getting through each day because the alternative is that none of this had to happen but still did.
And it's been so long. But if you ever think you got it wrong I'm right where you left me
This is the child in me screaming out and begging me to reach out to them on the bad days that I want them all back and can’t do this alone.
You left me no, you left me no
The disbelief. Like none of this can be real. Like my father and extended family couldn’t have decided a broken family was better than the work it takes to fix one, right? My mother can’t be so torn up in her own grief that by her own accord, has admitted she will never love me, right? It just all cannot be real. But it is.
You left me no choice but to stay here forever
And to finish off, we have a triple meaning line.
The father version: By manipulating events and turning my mother, brother and I into the villains, he has forced us into a future where we do not have family. He has brought on grief to my mother that I am expecting her to die at her own hand soon. And he has left me living in my fantasies of what could have been.
The mother version: Within her own grief, my mother is living in a mindset where anyone wanting to move on from this and have a life is selfish and is herself constantly talking about it and giving ultimatums to listen to and agree with her or refuse to pay bills, which I need her to do as someone who is financially dependent on her. Ironically, she also shuts down any inkling that my brother and I have been affected by this to the level she has and refuses to entertain us talking about that in the household. Both of which mean I am forced to relive this over and over without the recovering aspects that I need.
The me version: Basically the combination of the two above. Because I have not been given the chance to recover in the way I need and do not have an outlet outside of therapy to properly work through this, I am forced to relive the events with myself each night just to try and make sense of it all. Further, the trauma has hit so deep that again, even the idea of starting new relationships whether they be familiar, romantic or platonic seems both unworthy of my attention and horrifically terrifying because it still feels like I am unloveable because if my own family, the people who are meant to love you forever, have abandoned me, why would anyone else stay?

Chapter 9: Skype Session 3
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Abby's POV
I waited eagerly for my laptop to start ringing. Since the last time we talked, things seemed to get harder for me. I really needed to talk to him and to simply see him. I never thought these three months would be this miserable.
I double-checked my appearance in my webcam, wanting to look better than I was feeling. The longer that Caleb's been gone, the less sleep that I've had. And that was the last thing I wanted Caleb to see.
I bit my lip when my laptop finally started ringing. I didn't hesitate to answer the call.
"There's my girl," he cheered the second his fuzzy picture popped up.
"Hi, baby."
"Damn, I've missed you." He laughed as he looked at me, taking in my appearance. "Did you get more beautiful?"
"No," I laughed, a blush forming on my cheeks. "It's just, you've been around guys who don't shower regularly."
"And I haven't seen my beautiful fiancé in over three weeks. The only problem with this job is the distance."
"I know," I said, still trying to sound happy even though my voice dropped. My smile fell, unable to act like I was okay. "Distance sucks. No wonder we never did long distance before this."
"Baby?" He said, the smile on his face dropping slightly. "You doing any better? I know last time you were having run-ins with your dad and step-mom. Did something else happen?"
"Hannah barged over. After I kicked her out, I got a call from my dad. Basically, he said that if I kept acting like this then he wouldn't bless our marriage."
"Oh," Caleb said softly.
"Of course I told him that it was a little too late for that and that I would marry you with or without him there."
"Abby," he sighed.
"It's fine," I cut him off. "It's about time I stood up to him."
"But he's your dad, babe."
"I don't care," I said, my eyes watering. "He hasn't been acting like my dad since mom died. Now, you're my family. You are the only one that matters."
"And you are the only one that matters to me," he smiled at me. His smile faltered. "Abigail, how much sleep have you had since I left?"
I shrugged, not wanting to tell him the truth. I took a shaky breath as I tried to smile. "I'm fine."
The look on his face made it clear that he didn't believe me. "Abby, I know you. You have bags under your eyes that you tried to cover with makeup, your eyes are slightly red which is a side effect from the sleeping medication you only take when your insomnia acts up, and there is not one but three empty glasses on your bedside table meaning you have multiple glasses of wine before bed."
"Damn, nice deduction Sherlock Holmes." I tried to joke to hopefully lighten the mood. He chuckled a little before his smile fell.
"I wish I was there," he said, his voice soft and hesitant. "I wish I was there to help you through your insomnia. Then again, if I was there I doubt you would be suffering from insomnia."
"Caleb," I said, cutting him off. "You come home in a little over three weeks. We made it this far. I'll be fine."
"Will you?" It was his turn to cut me off. "Or are you just saying that because you think it's what I need to hear?"
Silence fell between the two of us. I felt his eyes on me as I looked down. He was right. Of course I was just saying what I thought he wanted to hear. If I told him the truth. . . His guilt would get worse and I didn't want that.
I looked up when I heard him sigh. His eyes were soft and he was chewing his bottom lip. He ran his fingers through his hair as he sighed again.
"I didn't mean. . . I was just. . ." Caleb stuttered as he looked at me. "I'm sorry, baby. I just worry about you."
"I know," I said, looking back down at my keyboard.
"Abby?" He said, almost a whisper. I looked up to see him smiling. It wasn't his usual to his eyes smile, but it was close.
"I love you."
"I love you too," I said instantly, the smile returning to my face.
"Mike asked me a weird question the other day," he said, changing the subject.
"Yeah?" I laughed slightly.
"He asked if you needed someone to talk you out of marrying me," he said, a smirk slowly forming on his lips.
"What?" I giggled. "Why would I need someone to talk me out of marrying you?"
"I don't know. Something about us being engaged for too long."
"It hasn't even been a year," I said slowly. I laughed when he shrugged his shoulders, sending me a playful look.
Suddenly, his smile dropped and his eyes turned serious. "Abby," he started. "I promise once I get home, I'm gonna marry you."
I smiled, my cheeks burning slightly at the way he was looking at me. "I know that," I said softly. "You told me that when you put the ring on my finger, when you got the job on the rig, and every day before you left. When you get home, we're gonna start planning."
We spent the next twenty minutes talking about the rig, the wedding, and pretty much anything other than my father. We were in the middle of talking about his groomsmen and my bridesmaid when the door swung open.
"Oh!" A guy laughed when he saw Caleb sitting at the computer. "Sorry, Hollywood. I didn't mean to interrupt you and. . . Soon-to-be Mrs. Hollywood. Hopefully I didn't interrupt. . . Anything."
The way he said that made my cheeks burn. Caleb's too.
"No," he stuttered. "We weren't. . . It's not. . ."
The guy just smirked as he looked at me. "Nice to meet you, Abigail. I'm Doug. I feel like I already know you from how much this guy talks about you. It's all, "my fiancé is the most beautiful woman in the world, she's amazing, I miss her, she's incredible, my fiancé does this, my fiancé does this." He doesn't shut up about you."
They turned around when the door opened again. Caleb sent me a look as Mike walked into the room.
"Sorry," he mouthed. I just shrugged, laughing slightly.
"Doug, leave the poor kids alone," Mike laughed. "I doubt Abby wants to waste her time seeing your ugly mug when she'd rather sit and talk to her fiancé."
"What?" Doug asked, faking innocence. "I was just. . ."
"Interrupting," Mike cut him off.
"Apparently, not," Doug smirked as he patted Caleb on the back.
"Not that," Mike sighed. "Believe me, Abigail is too good of a girl to do that. Caleb? Ehh, lottery is still out on him. Either way, stop being an ass and get out."
Mike sent me a wink before grabbing the fabric of Doug's shirt and pushing him out the door.
"Sorry, Abby," Mike said looking into the camera. "You look beautiful by the way."
"Thanks," I smiled, blushing as he sent Caleb a look. I looked over to see Doug wink at me as he and Mike left the room.
"That was. . . interesting," I laughed.
"I know," Caleb sighed, running his hand through his hair. "I'm really sorry about that, baby."
"It's alright," I giggled. "Who even was that? I don't remember you ever mentioning Doug to me before."
"There's a reason for that," he sighed, rolling his eyes. "His name's Doug Brown. He's. . . He's kind of an ass."
"By the tone of your voice, I'm guessing he is always like that," I laughed.
"Yep," he said popping the "p". "When he found out I was engaged, he immediately started making inappropriate jokes about us and our Skype calls and. . . Other things. Then everyone started making those jokes. Especially on the days I get to talk to you. All day, they constantly send me looks, gestures, and comments. It's kinda embarrassing."
I laughed at the redness on his cheeks. "Sorry, babe. That tends to happen when you're around all guys. I'm sure, deep down, they're actually excited for you."
"And jealous," he added.
I sent him a look causing him to laugh. "I mean it," he continued. "Especially after I showed them a picture of you. They said you were gorgeous and they wished they had a pretty thing like you waiting for them."
I bit my lip, my cheeks burning from the idea of him talking about me to the guys. "Wow," I giggled awkwardly. "That's. . ."
Caleb laughed as I nervously tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. "And they should be jealous. I'm the luckiest bastard."
I rolled my eyes, laughing. "Anyway," I elongated, wanting to change the subject. We continued to talk about little things here and there before he brought up something I was actually excited about.
"So, they told us that we should be able to walk right off the boat and head home."
"You don't have to sign out or anything?" I asked.
"Nope," he smiled. "We're doing all of that the night before. We're filling out the paperwork and just have to drop it off before we leave the boat."
I nodded, knowing he was saying this more for himself than for my knowledge. Maybe he was saying this to comfort me. Either way, it was working.
"Not much I have to do other than drive to the pier and pick you up," I shrugged, laughing slightly.
He smiled as he shook his head. "Nope. Just show up and that's more than enough."
"I wish I didn't have to wait three weeks to see you," I said under my breath.
"I know, babe." He sighed. "But, time will go by fast. I know it."
I nodded, even though I didn't believe him. Usually, the last period goes by the slowest. My heart sank into my stomach when I noticed Caleb check the clock.
"I gotta go," he mumbled to himself. He sighed as he looked back up at me with soft eyes.
"I love you so much, Abby. With absolutely everything I've got."
"I love you too, baby."
I smiled when he playfully looked over his shoulder before blowing the screen a kiss. "Really?" I smirked.
"Come on," he pouted. I sighed before blowing him a kiss. He put his hand over his heart, dramatically sighing.
"You're such a dork," I laughed.
"True," he shrugged, going back to acting normal. "But I'm your dork."
"Yes, you are," I smiled at him.
"I love you," he said again. "I feel like I can't say that enough."
"I love you too," I smiled, trying to stop the tears that were building up in my eyes.
"See you in a few short weeks, Almost Mrs. Halloway."
"See you in a few weeks, you lucky bastard," I said, sending him a wink as I ended the call.
At least, I thought I ended the call. . .

Thoughts on Mulan (2020)
Ok so I had heard some stuff beforehand about this movie, but I didn’t wanna let that tint my experience too much, though it kind of did in the form of noticing western influence on certain things. Here’s a list of thoughts more or less in chronological order.  First I wrote these in a notebook, and now I’m putting them here.
The beginning sequence reminds me so much of Kung Fu Huslte
though honestly it might just be that stephen chow’s movies are pretty much the extent of chinese-made media that I watch
Rosalind Chao is here, I’m a Keiko O’Brien stan so she reminded me of DS9
Fa Zhou saying something about “emissary” also reminded me of DS9
The music where the rourans first attack is cool I guess
idk if the brass made the music of the imperial city sound kinda western or what, but it certainly did sound militaristic (which I guess it’s supposed to)
Why does mulan have a little sister instead of a little brother? to add more female characters to the story? she doesn’t really do much though
After mulan’s whole childhood sequence, it cuts to a shot of the witch in the desert, which if you didn’t already know the story, might make it seem like mulan grew up to be the witch
although this makes some sense too bc the movie likes to compare them
the witch twists into a hawk (?), neat!
I saw people earlier comment about both men and women in china (and other parts of the world) keeping their hair long, so when mulan’s hair fell out of place in the matchmaker scene it made me notice that both the men and women also wear their hair up, which in turn causes the part of the movie later when mulan emerges after the avalanche to make way less sense since how would they know she’s a woman?
ok this is the thing I’m upset about, its a small thing but still, Why don’t we get to see the sword form?? If you remember in the animated version, her father does this straight sword form. (It’s a real form, not just made up for the animated movie). So I was like “ok maybe mulan will do it later” and then it NEVER HAPPENED. (possibly she did it during the “make a man out of you” training sequence, but the odd camera angels and quick cutaways make it impossible to tell)
I also had heard earlier that the script was not subtle at all,,,y’all were right
oh look, a phoenix
mulan: “the phoenix”
yes, we know
Commander Donnie Yen Tung’s entrance is iconic
BAHAHFHDSK mulan’s reaction to seeing naked men skjfdk
uh oh,,only 40 minutes in and the forced romance is already upon us
although, in retrospect, the way they resolved it at the end didn’t make me cringe that much
I’m a slut for butterfly kicks
the scene where mulan bathes in the lake has a much more predatory undertone now, especially now that Ling, Chien Po, and Yao are missing
the trio made the scene funny in the animated movie
can the not-Li-Shang-love-interest Honghui please leave Jun/Mulan alone?? ffs
speaking of no Li Shang, I liked the Donnie Yen mentor character half better than the Honghui half
Honghui kind of comes off as a simp ngl
what’s with the witch’s makeup/outfit? are they based on something?
speaking of outfits, awhile ago, I saw a really cool doll alteration video for mulan 2020
Commander Tung’s monologue/ mulan’s and the army’s training sequence about Chi where the words “Tranquil as a forest, but on fire within” are spoken is actually my favorite part of the whole movie. As much as I would have liked a musical remake, I think they translated the visual elements and the words together well in a way that was different enough from the animated version, but still satisfying to watch (at least for me).
They also integrate the music of Reflection here really well imho.  In the animated version, there’s a point where mulan modulates to a higher key, but the live action version doesn’t do that, which further pushes it away from sounding like disney’s classic musical theatre style.  They also changed a few of the notes, and I think the overall changes to Reflection in this part of the movie really improve this montage.
Compared to the Spiderman where they changed the notes from harmonic minor to (normal) minor (idk if that’s the real term I’m not actually a music major) in the MCU opening sequence, the note changes in Reflection don’t actually upset me.
my brain: oh look!! flowers!! cool! whooshhhh (honestly I couldn’t even tell if she was doing flowers right in the first part of the movie until here)
Mulan/Jun is gonna marry Commander Tung’s daughter? Yeah girl!! Get it!
oh look at me I’m a rouran and I gotta turn around on my moving horse to shoot arrows let me just swoOP
1:01:56 WHY ARE YOUR FINGERS IN FRONT OF THE HILT oh ok they fixed in the next shot but its still annoying
Unsubtle phoenix imagery not subtle
I guess I was warned about it :/
oh look its my fav interval a major 7th, I wonder if that’s supposed to be like “the last step before rebirth/the octave” bc of how Jun “dies” after the witch throws a weapon that gets stuck in her chest binding
at least she’s not using ace bandages or smth but idk much about binding
WHY ARE YOU THROWING OFF ALL YOUR ARMOR WHEN YOU’RE GOING INTO BATTLE? ACCEPTING AND PRESENTING YOURSELF AS WHO YOU REALLY ARE DOESN’T MEAN YOU HAVE TO TAKE OFF YOUR ARMOR
ok I know it was so she would be visually distinguishable from the other imperial soldiers, but still
the soldiers doing the turtle thing with their shields reminds me of the “we irritating 😂😂😂” meme
brass to signify that mulan is going to have a heroic moment (causing the avelanche) seems western to me. Idk much about traditional chinese instruments but it seems like they could use more of those.
Guys,,,I’m so fucking stupid I- .... it took me an hour and ten minutes to register the Lucky Cricket stand-in character,,,excuse me,,,,
the scene where mulan saves hongui and puts her hand over his heart gives me r*ylo vibes and I hate it
the witch, 1:14:40: “🎵yes I~ am a girl like you~🎵”
damn the music even reminds of the barbie movie a bit
The emperor’s voice reminds me of the mentor character from Kung Pow Enter the Fist which in itself was a western guy making fun of old cheesy martial arts movies (and how movies sometimes have a white male protagonist when they’re deadass set in asia and everyone else is asian)
the mentor characters voice was dubbed into english (and you can tell) but to me the emperor’s voice also kinda sounds like that
I’m disappointed that we didn’t get some kind of scene like the part in the animated verison where Mulan leads Ling, Chien Po, and Yao to cross dress to help save the emperor.
to me, that scene in the animated ver. is a reminder that it isn’t shameful for men to act/dress feminine
in general the animated version, to me, sends the message that it is ok to have both feminine and masculine traits, and that they don’t undermine each other or your identity, so they should all be embraced as a part of one’s personality (which tbh really helped me as a young kid)
the 2020 ver,, just doesn’t really send that message, instead its more broad like “be true to yourself”
I’m a slut for butterfly kicks
the witch taking an arrow for mulan really didn’t do it for me tbh, it made her seem a little wishy washy
like, I get that she wanted acceptance/validation, and that a part of her was glad that mulan found that for herself, but what about the rest of her motivation? Isn’t a desire for power or something what separates her from mulan?
Unsubtle phoenix imagery and dialogue is unsubtle
The music playing during the Mulan v. Khan duel reminds me of Duel of the Fates
actually the setting of the duel and other things really remind of of the Maul v. Ahsoka duel from Clone Wars s7
damn I really wanna watch the Maul v. Ahsoka duel cause the fight choreo is just,, so much more interesting
aww! Cricket is alive!
Around 1:34:39 , the music does not feel like it should be building up to Reflection here.  At this point, I think the melody had been reprised too many times and was getting to be overused (I still like it in the training sequence though).
I was happy to see Ming Na Wen!
Mulan is going home and ugh! Honghui! Don’t you know she’s betrothed to Commander Tung’s daughter? smh. homewrecker simp.
the matchmaker reminds me of Baron Harkonnen (Dune)
cheezy credits song is cheezy, even cheezier because they reprised reflection again

OC questions for Julie: 1, 7, 12.
Honestly, not sure which OC ask meme/list of questions this goes to.  Nor how long ago it was asked.  So, I’m going to answer for different lists.
The extremely detailed OC ask meme
1. Age, Birthday, Star Sign: Since my fic goes through several years, Julie’s age range is 9 through 18 in the few chapters that I’ve completed or are partially written.  Julie’s birthday is March 15th, making her a Pisces.
7. Occupation: Well, through most of the early part of the story, Julie will be a kid/teenager or student.  Her first job will be a secretary or assistant to his dad at the law firm.  She’ll take up some odd jobs to help support her family, such as fast food restaurant crew member, waitress, and customer service/sales associate for multiple stores.  But it will be getting the job as a library aide for the Los Angeles Unified School District when she really finds a true career path.  She will go on to get her Master’s Degree in Library Science and become Youth Services Librarian at the Encino-Tarzana Branch Library.
12. Own any pets?  As a child, no.  As an adult, her family will have two dogs and a cat.
Angst Asks
1. What’s one experience your character had that made them very afraid?   Only one?  I think I’ve gotta go with the obvious answer.  Being pregnant for the first time.  Julie had no idea what to do, was in denial for weeks, and was too scared to tell anyone because she didn’t know how they would react and if they would reject her.  Then the moment she tells her brother, he attacks the father and accidentally knocks her out.  She gets kicked out by the only parent she had left and worse than that, he was going to force an abortion on her.  Her body goes through strange changes.  She finds herself married and she doesn’t really want to be, even if she loves Jimmy.  It’s not just one baby, but two.  Having to go on bed rest to ensure that she doesn’t go into preterm labor.  Then the birth itself is a whole other ordeal.
7. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would it be and why?  Tough choice.  She has two answers.  But we’ll go with John Kreese.  Julie worships her big brother Johnny.  While Kreese did teach him some useful things, he also nearly destroyed the boy’s life.  Figuratively and literally.  Johnny probably could have handled losing to Daniel LaRusso, but it’s what happened afterward in the parking lot which broke him - Kreese berating and nearly choking him to death.  It was an ultimate betrayal to the young man who saw his sensei as a father figure and a real man.  Julie was there that night and saw it all.  Before she was in awe of and intimidated by the karate master, but in attacking her beloved brother, Julie saw an enemy.  After Miyagi dealt with Kreese, the eleven-year-old girl would have started pummeling the bleeding and humiliated man, had it not been for Jimmy.  And for years, Julie had to watch her big brother deal with defeat and disappointment, one after the other, as well as becoming a drunk.  She attributed this to Kreese breaking Johnny’s confidence and spirit.
12. Do they like to suffer? Like to see other people suffering?  No, she doesn’t like suffering, hers or someone else’s.  Sometimes, she does feel like she deserves to suffer for mistakes she’s made or believes she made.  But she doesn’t enjoy it.
OC asks that reveal more than you think
1.  Do they sleep with a stuffed animal? If they have multiple, who’s the favorite?  Yes, Julie sleeps with stuffed animals.  At least, she did when she was a child.  Her favorite was Scooby-Doo until Jimmy won her a stuffed frog at a carnival.  She kept that frog and actually slept with it up until she married Jimmy.  He thought it was sweet.  That frog would get passed down to their kids.
7.  Describe them in three words. Now let them describe themself in three words.  Introverted, loving, naive.  Julie would describe herself as shy, unlucky, wishful.
12.  Do they like romance in the books they read (or in the book they’re in)?  Yes.  Julie loves romance and has ever since she was a little girl.  Not every book she reads is a romance, but she does prefer to read books that have romance as an element of the story.
OC Ask Game
1: List five basic facts about your OC.
Her favorite book series as a child/teen were The Boxcar Children, Sweet Valley High, Nancy Drew Mystery Stories, the Anne of Green Gables series, and The Baby-Sitters Club series.
For Halloween 1983, she dressed up as Princess Leia.
Julie hates green vegetables.
Her favorite 1980s romantic movie is Dirty Dancing.
She begged Johnny to take her away from Sid when their mother died.
7: Describe your OC’s fashion sense.  Her fashion is eclectic and evolves with time.  It is also dependent on what her parents would allow, her friends/classmates’ tastes, and then what she realized she liked.  As she got older, her clothes became more revealing.
12: What does your OC give another OC for their birthday?  In 1988, Julie gave her best friend Becca Brown a CD player.

Marriage and Family: How it all started part 4
The next day Natsu and  Gray went out to get a couple beers and discuss what they were planning on doing in the future.
"So I hear that you're going to be a daddy. Congratulations man." Natsu told Gray.
"Natsu this isn't exactly a good thing. I mean it is but...We're both eighteen and we just graduated and...And we haven't even told our parents yet."
"Oh... Sucks to be you man. So I gotta ask are you gonna marry her or not?"
"Marry her?"
"Yeah."
"I don't know...I mean... Should I?"
"Do you love her?"
"Yeah."
"Is it your kid she's carrying?"
"Yeah."
"Okay then you gotta marry her."
"But that's a big step. I don't know if I'm ready."
"Well you're not going to run out on her are you?"
"No but...Oh man I don't know what I'm going to do."
"If it's any consolation I've got problems too. Lucy's old man is trying to get rid of me."
"Tough break. I thought Mr. Heartfilia was actually starting to like you."
"Does Juvia's family like you?"
"Her mother loves me, her father likes me but he thinks that she could do better, but her sisters hate me."
"How much?"
"They once put rattle snakes in my bed."
"Ooooo."
"Yeah. I don't know how they're going to react when they find out that Juvia is pregnant. I haven't even told my parents yet. Should I tell them?"
"Considering that they now have a grandchild on the way yeah."
"Now?"
"Telling your parents bad news is like ripping off a bandage. You just gotta get it over with. Take my brother Zeref for example, when he told my parents that he and his girlfriend Mavis were eloping he just came out and said it."
"And they were cool with it?"
"No they kicked him out of the house and wouldn't talk to him for about a month. But that's beside the point, you just need to get it over with."
"You're right. I just need to tell them, but I hope that they'll be the understanding type."
One hour later...
"Son how could you be so stupid?!" His father Silver asked when Gray told him the news.
"In my defense I was drunk so I couldn't really make any smart decisions." Gray said.
"That's no excuse son! Oh I always knew this would happen! What with you constantly stripping all the time, even as a kid you couldn't keep your clothes on."
"Gray are you planning to keep it?" Mika asked him.
"Well Juvia says that she wants to keep it and that she understands if I don't want anything to do with it."
"Gray Fullbuster now don't you dare tell me that you're thinking of abandoning her and that baby."
"No Mom I'm going to help out with the baby I just don't know where to start."
"You could start by getting a job first." Silver told him. "A baby cost money and you're going to need lots of it and don't expect a hand out from your mother or me."
"Now Silver-" Mika said.
"Mika the boy is eighteen, he made this baby and now he's going to have to raise the money to take care of it on his own."
"But Silver you were just a little older than he was when we had him."
"Yeah and my father didn't help me, he told me the same thing I'm telling him! Now I'll help him get a job but he's not going to mooch off of us!"
"I wasn't going to mooch off of you!" Gray said. "And I don't expect you and Mom to give me any money but I have one request."
"Whatever it is the answer is no."
"Just here me out! Juvia's already got a job working at a diner and the pay sucks not to mention they don't tip her. So could you do me a favor and go to that diner for lunch and leave her some tips. Some good tips."
"Fine." Silver said.
"Great and don't worry about me being a moocher because I'm moving out tonight."
"Where will you stay?" Mika asked.
"Natsu's until I can afford an apartment and I don't need your help getting a job Dad! I can get it on my own!" Gray shouted going upstairs to his old room.
"Fine by me!" Silver shouted back.
Gray grabbed a suitcase and started to fill it with all his clothes and other belongings. An hour later his mother came upstairs carrying a plate with a sandwich.
"I thought that you would be hungry." She said.
"Where's Dad?"
"He told me to tell you that he went to a bar but he's actually going to the bank to set you up an account and deposit a thousand dollars into it."
"Seriously? What happened to no hand outs?"
"Oh you know your father. He may act all tough but deep down he's a real big softy. But he doesn't want you to know that. He wants you to get a job and make your own money."
"I will Mom."
"I know, you're a hard worker and a determined man just like him. And I hope my grandchild inherits all those wonderful qualities of yours. By the way I've been meaning to ask, do you plan on having this baby out of wedlock?"
"Oh Mom I don't know. I mean I love Juvia but we have the time or the money to get married right now besides part of me thinks that she'd be better off marrying Lyon. You know he already proposed to her."
"Don't be ridiculous, I've seen the way she looks at you. It's how I always look at your father. She'll never marry another man because she loves you and nobody else."
"I know but even if I was thinking of popping the question I can't afford a decent ring."
"Well this ring won't cost you a dime."
She placed a velvet box in his hand. Gray opened it, inside was an antique diamond ring.
"It was your grandmother's and before she died she requested that if you ever considered marriage that I offer you her engagement ring."
"Oh Mom...I can't take this."
"Yes you can and I'm sure that it would look even more beautiful on Juvia's finger. I'm not going to pressure you into anything dear but if you want the truth she's the kind of woman I always wanted you to marry."
The young man hugged his mother and she hugged him back.
"Thanks Mom."
Meanwhile Natsu and Lucy were on their way to a restaurant for a date. They had just finished dropping off Lucy's college application at the post office. She had applied for Sabertooth University, one of the most expensive and we'll educated colleges in Fiore.
"Oh Natsu I'm so nervous. What if they don't accept me?" She asked him.
"Then it's their loss babe because you're the smartest and most hard-working girl I know." He told her.
"You really mean that?"
"Of course I do."
"That's sweet but I have to get into that school. Just imagine all the career opportunities I could get just by going there? By the way Natsu what college are you applying for?"
"Actually I'm not applying to college."
"What? Why not?"
"Well for one thing my parents can't afford it and neither can I."
"Then what are you going to do for a living?"
"Well right now I work at the local bowling alley but I'm sure that I can get a better, more high paying job. It's not a problem that I'm not going to college is it?"
"No. Not at all." She smiled and kissed his nose. "Come on let's go eat."
"Great because I'm starving."

Thirteen
   It was almost six o'clock before the Archer twins dropped Alley in front of the garage and took off to make it to their scheduled dinner in time. Chris was fretting about being late; Chex, of course, couldn't have cared less. They drove away, still arguing, as Alley waved goodbye, her purchases at her feet.
   She picked up numerous shopping bags and slung them over her arms, then hefted the heavy box bearing the disassembled pieces of her new desk, awkwardly dragging it into the garage and wishing she'd taken Chris up on his offer of helping to lug it up to the apartment. But since purchasing the desk at the last minute was the reason they were running late to begin with, she'd insisted he leave to meet his father as planned.
   She noticed that Stoker's bike was gone again, but Throttle and Modo were engaged in a card game. Throttle looked up, chuckling as she staggered past the folding card table. "Need a hand there, Alley-girl?" he asked.
   "That would not be unappreciated. Thanks," she replied with a weak grin, handing off the box to him. "You can just leave it in the living room against the wall or something. I'll put it together later." She started up the stairs for the apartment, shifting the bags in her arms as she went.
   "I thought you were shopping for a phone. Did you buy the whole store out?" he teased.
   Alley laughed. "Oh, sure. I couldn't decide which one I wanted so I figured I might as well just take … them… " Her words trailed off and she stopped dead in her tracks just outside the living room, bags sliding from her suddenly-limp arms. Throttle nearly ran into her as he came through the door, hastily sidestepping to avoid bowling her over. His protest died in his throat when he caught sight of what she was gawking at.
   Charley and Vinnie were in the kitchen. They'd come up earlier to make dinner, but that sure didn't look like what they were doing. Charley leaned against the counter, arms crossed, and Vinnie stood just in front of her. It seemed innocent enough, but the white mouse stood just a little too close, eyes lidded as he spoke quietly, clearly flirting.
   The eavesdroppers waited for her to push him away with a laugh and a retort, like she usually did when he got too cheeky. Instead, she offered a slow smile and raised her hand to gently tickle the fur under his chin, and that was enough to make his ears turn pink. His tail snaked around her legs, tugging her closer as her arm slid around his shoulders. He lowered his head to softly nuzzle at her ear, one hand settling on her hip as her eyes began to flutter closed.
   And Alley just couldn't hold it in anymore. "What the hell?" she yelped, and the pair jumped apart like a bomb had gone off between them, expressions torn between startled and mortified. Unfortunately, Vinnie's tail was still wrapped around Charley's legs; she was yanked forward and straight into him, losing her balance and sending them both crashing to the floor in a tangle of limbs.
   Before Alley could open her mouth again, a pair of black-gloved hands clapped around her head and what felt like a boa constrictor coiled tightly around her waist, lifting her clean off the floor. "Sorry about the interruption, folks," Throttle's voice purred in her ear. "We'll just be … er … in the garage. Just minding our own business! Carry on!" And he forcefully carted a fuming Alley back down the stairs, leaving the pair to untangle themselves.
   "Uh … did I miss somethin'?" Modo took in the odd scene with raised eyebrow.
   "You sure did," Throttle chuckled. He turned Alley around, tail still tightly wound about her waist. "If I let you go, do you promise not to go chargin' back up there?" he asked sternly.
   She replied with narrowed eyes … and a sharp kick to the knee that made him yelp. "Put … me … down," she muffled around his hand.
   "Better do as she says, Throttle. Before she bites ya next," Modo warned with a grin.
   Alley jerked her head free from Throttle's hands. "I wouldn't do that," she said sweetly. "I'd hate to have to pick fur out of my teeth, after all."
   Throttle cocked an eyebrow, pulled off his glove and held a hand in front of her face, palm forward. The skin was tan and calloused … and completely bald. She'd never studied their hands so closely before, and had never noticed how the fur shortened over the backs and disappeared entirely over the palms and insides of their fingers. Throttle's hand was very much like a human's, but a little more elongated, with thicker pads on palms and fingers, and knuckles a little more pronounced. His nails were trimmed but seemed thicker than normal; she wondered if they'd grow into natural claws if he didn't cut them, and whether he'd be offended if she asked.
   And then she gave herself a mental shake, reminded of the issue at hand and pissed that she'd let herself get distracted so easily. "What the hell is going on between those two?" she barked, jerking her head toward the stairs.
   "That's actually a really good question," Throttle replied with another chuckle. "Looks like Vincent and I need to have a little chat." He looked undeniably pleased.
   "Wait." Modo's eye widened. "You mean to say … Vinnie and Charley Ma'am…"
   "Looks like. Bit of bad timing on our part, though."
   "Whoa, Mama." Modo sat back in his chair, one hand coming to rest on his forehead. "I ain't never thought I'd see the day when those two actually quit dancin' around the subject an' get straight to the point."
   "Yep. Looks like some congratulations may be in order," Throttle agreed.
   "Heh. Yeah. An' a whole lotta ribbin," Modo finished with a grin. "This's gonna be fun."
   Throttle jumped and grunted when another sharp jab in the leg reminded him of Alley's presence. She glared at him, arms crossed, one eyebrow cocked and lips pursed with displeasure; the very picture of impatience. She probably would've been tapping her foot on the floor, just for added affect … except she was currently dangling a foot above it, still wrapped firmly in his tail.
   "Oh. Whoops. Almost forgot about you."
   "Ya think?"
   He grinned and set her on her feet, but still held her in place. "Stay," he told her firmly.
   She just glared harder. "What am I, a puppy?"
   "Stop being difficult," he sighed, finally unwinding his tail from her waist. "There's no reason to get so upset."
   "No reason? Your pal was macking on my cousin and … and she was macking back! Sure, what's there to be upset about?"
   Utter silence greeted her words. Both mice stared at her and neither of them looked particularly happy; she had the oddest sense of having just walked herself casually into a lion's den. Blindfolded.
   "You sayin' you don't approve?" Modo finally asked, voice dangerously soft.
   "Are you saying you do?" she shot back.
   "Those two've been dancin' around each other since they met. 'Bout time Vinnie wised up and started takin' stuff a little more seriously," Throttle grunted. "She's good for him. And I think he's finally figuring that out."
   Alley chewed on her lower lip, brow furrowed as she thought about what to say and how to say it without setting either of them off. "I just think … it isn't a good idea," she hedged. "Vinnie isn't exactly the … take-him-home-to-meet-the-folks kinda guy. Didn't we just establish earlier that letting the world find out about you is a bad thing? That humans aren't ready to accept the fact that aliens walk among them?"
   "Who says the world's gotta know?"
   "Oh, come on!" She started to pace, getting frustrated. "What kind of … of relationship could they possibly have when they'd never be able to … go out on normal dates or meet up with friends and family at holidays? What if things actually get serious and they decide to take it further? Get married or whatever? Exactly who would be invited to the wedding? You think Charley's parents wouldn't be hurt that their only daughter actually gets herself hitched and they never even get a chance to meet the guy?"
   "Okay, kid, derail that train of thought right there."
   Charley stomped down the stairs, clearly having heard most of the conversation, and looking none-too-pleased as she dragged a protesting Vinnie behind her. She marched herself over to her cousin, lips drawn into a thin line. She maintained a solid hold on Vinnie's hand, who looked like he was ready to turn tail and bolt, offering a sheepish grin to his brothers when they looked at him with raised eyebrows.
   Charley didn't even look at the other two, her attention focused strictly on her fidgeting cousin. "Alley, I realize that you've only known these guys a short time," she began, voice stern. "I realize that you probably hold the same natural prejudices as any other human who'd meet them, and I won't fault you for that. I imagine the thought of me being with what essentially amounts to a giant, talking animal might even sicken you a little. And I won't fault you for that, either."
   Alley tried to speak, but Charley held up a hand, blocking her words. "I'm only going to tell you this once. These guys are as much family to me as anyone I've known. I would do anything to protect them, even give up my life, my career, my family. I've never thought of them as animals. Under the fur and the tails and the mousy features, they're more … more people than a lot of humans I've met, and having them fall into my life was nothing short of a miracle. And whatever this is…" She gestured between herself and Vinnie. "Whatever may or may not be starting, or evolving … it's strictly between us. What I choose to do with my life, who I choose to do it with, is nobody's business but mine. You can either accept that fact and move on, or you can pack it up and move yourself back to Florida. The choice is yours."
   There was utter silence. All three mice gaped at her, stunned by the confession, and the absolute conviction in her roiling emotions. Alley stared at her for a long moment, face shifting through a myriad of expressions. She blinked a few times, a tell-tale glitter brightening her eyes, and her chin quivered ever-so-slightly before she jerked her head in a brief, shaky nod and turned to flee the garage.
   As soon as she disappeared up the stairs, Charley's bravado vanished. She dropped Vinnie's hand and ran her own hands through her hair, breath leaving her in a rush as what she'd just said and who she'd just said it in front of hit her with the force of a brick to the head. Her face was flaming, and she couldn't bring herself to meet anyone's eyes. She wasn't empathic but even she could feel their shock reverberating in the room. "Well, uh, guess I'd better get back to work. These cars won't fix themselves," she mumbled, reaching for her tools … only to find a strong, furry arm sliding around her shoulders from behind, pulling her back against a warm chest.
   "Did you really mean all that?" Vinnie asked, voice awed. "What you said just now, is it true?"
   She squirmed, face growing even hotter with embarrassment. It wasn't often she let her temper get the best of her. She worked way too hard to appear tough and capable and to set such a girly-girl display of emotion loose in front of the egomaniacs was a serious blow to her pride. "C'mon, fellas. You think I'd let you clumsy lummoxes run loose in my garage and home if I didn't like you?" she joked weakly.
   "Then … what about the last part?" Vinnie pressed. "This mean you're my girl now?"
   She squirmed again, biting her lip and peeking up to find Modo and Throttle grinning openly at her. They looked so happy that she found herself relaxing a little, a small, shy smile twitching at her lips. "I guess … it couldn't hurt to see where things go from here," she replied.
   Immediately, Vinnie's other arm joined the first and Charley yelped as she found herself lifted clean off her feet and spun around, nearly deafened by his whoop of joy. Throttle and Modo high-fived, and Vinnie plopped Charley on her feet and grinned down into her blushing face, hands resting at the juncture of her neck. His thumbs caressed her jawline and that, coupled with the open adoration in his red eyes, was enough to make her weak in the knees.
   But his expression slowly changed, happiness replaced by growing doubt. "But, ya know … Sweetheart, what Alley girl said ain't wrong," he mumbled, ears drooping. "I don't got anything to offer you. Can't take you to fancy restaurants or do anything normal people do on this planet. An' it'll be awful hard to explain to your folks why you never bring the boyfriend to meet 'em. I mean, given her reaction, what d'ya think they'll have to say about it?"
   "I don't really care," she replied softly, her hand sliding up to cup his cheek. "Like I told her, what we do is our business. Whatever this is, let's just take it a step at a time, yeah? No need to think too far ahead, is there? As for the rest of it, I've never been a flower and chocolates type of girl, and you know I don't have time for fancy dates. All I need from you is … is your promise that you won't turn tail and run the moment things get tough. No matter what anyone says or does, if we just stick it out together, I think … I think it'll all work out just fine."
   He offered a slow smile, pressing their foreheads together. "Lady, you have made a very wise decision," he murmured. "I promise, you are not gonna regret it."
   Whatever he might have said or done next was disrupted by loud whoops and catcalls from their nearly-forgotten audience. "Better'n a movie!" Modo cheered, as Throttle heaved a dramatic, love-sick sigh and wiped an imaginary tear from his eye.
   "It just … gets a bro right here," he simpered, tapping a fist to his heart. "Anyone got some antacid on 'em?"
   Vinnie glowered, arms tightening protectively around Charley, who bumped her forehead against his chest, rocking it back and forth as her shoulders shook with laughter. "Oh, I am so gonna regret this."

saunters-vaguely-downwards replied to your post:
I’m a bit bored tonight, so how about people send...
How about The Crow and Naruto? For funsies :P
You!
Tumblr media
You know my weakness for The Crow!  Ugh.  Because it is The Crow I’m sticking all of this under a read more.  Folks who are unaware of what The Crow is, movie franchise about people who are murdered violently (or in one case executed unjustly) usually with a loved one also murdered, usually with other horrible things happening just before, who are then brought back x year(s) later to get Vengence through a divine(?) Crow and bring some closure to loved ones left behind usually (as far as I can remember, one in each movie)
Okay, so I’ve got two ideas right off the bat.
One: Rin comes back.  She had a horrible violent death proceeded by a worse time in captivity of her enemies, she definitely qualifies.  I mean, really. (even under a read more, I’m going to talk around....that ).  I mean, they were already doing something terrible to her, I’m not going to rule out any other way of invading her body and torchuring her tbh.  Dark stuff, but that’s The Crow for you.  So then she comes back.  Several years later, idk, the timeline doesn’t make sense when you’re looking at it let alone when you want to focus on other things.
Rin comes back, goes and hunts down every last Kiri motherfucker who had a part in her death and destroys them.  Or at least the ones that she can get to easily enough.  Because even as she’s getting her Vengeance, Crows also bring a measure of peace/closure to a loved one left behind (the first had the little girl that he and his fiance all but adopted), so she knows she needs to get to Kakashi and help him.
Which leads to her going to Konoha, being bamf and showing that she’s herself.  And then she ignores Sarutobi to adopt Naruto and force Kakashi to help raise the little tyke with her.  So Kakashi is taken care of, but she still has Vengeance to get to.
Which means that she’s going to go all detective and figure out that Madara is kinda sort of still around, plus Zetsu.  Probably kicks Obito’s ass (not that he’d try to hard to stop her lbr) and derails the whole.... Moon Eye Plan/Kaguya.  Because she’s a Crow and they’re basically Immortal unless their crow is killed.  And I can do what I want.
The other idea is to use Tomoe Senju (aka my version of Mama Senju), who’s sent by her husband to a meeting with the Uchiha to try to make peace after he takes over but his father is still around.  Except, uh, lets call him Enji, has decided “nope, gotta keep killing all those Uchiha, I don’t care what my kid says” and sets up an ambush - complete with working with some same-minded Uchiha.  They paralyze Tomoe, kill/mutilate the Uchiha (with one to get away to “report” the betrayal), and then Enji talks about how he’s always wondered how a “savage” like Tomoe could have tricked his son into marrying her.  Probably goes on about how he’s going to enjoy finding out, etc etc.
Yeah.
So Tomoe is dead, both sides think the other are horrible betrayers fighting happens. And then Tomoe claws her way back to life as a Crow just in time to save one of her sons.  She is dazed, and is dragged home by, hm, Kawarama who doesn’t realize that she’s his mom.
Butsuma is overjoyed.  He buried his wife, and yet here she is!
And then either Enji or one of his lackeys shows up and she sees them.  Que Vengeance.  And through her Vengeance, the Senju and Uchiha end up making peace, because Tomoe literally died for a chance at peace and then came back, what the FUCK will she do if they keep fighting?!
Of course I can’t be too nice in all this.  Tobirama would totally help his mom, because he never thought that his grandpa could be so evil and therefore made the same logical conclusion Butsuma did that the Uchiha killed her.  He doesn’t like being wrong.  During the eleventh hour of Vengeance as it were, he gets captured by one of the lackeys (Enji is so so dead at this point.  Maybe.) and gets torchured to try to figure out wtf Tomoe?  Which leads to his face marks being scars, mmkay?
Maybe at the same time some Uchiha was captured so Tobirama also endears himself to the Uchiha Clan by doing what he can to protect/comfort one of their own.
Probably instead of ending after Vengeance is had, extend to a happy time of Kensuke taking Tobirama on as a student and the slow slow courtship of MadaTobi.

Previous Chapter: https://hopeless-taejinstan.tumblr.com/post/172321771135/artistic-beauty-of-love-chapter-1
Jin stared at his notes, the beginning of the semester was always the slowest part of school. He looked towards the other side of the classroom where Miyeon was taking her notes. She was the only girl who didn’t chase after him or act silly when he looked at her. He still remembered the first time he ever laid eyes on her.
~~~~~
Jin yawned lying on a bench taking a quick nap. He still had another hour before his next class.
“Leave me alone!” He heard a girl shouted.
“Why baby? You don’t wanna go to the movies with us? He heard a guy ask.
“The more the merrier, right?” He then heard another guy and sat up. He saw three guys pinning a girl to a tree. He stood up walking over to them.
“Didn’t she say to leave her alone?” He asked making them look at him. The three guys instantly surrounded him.
“Aren’t you bold there, pretty boy? I would keep quiet if I was you since you’re outnumbered.”
Jin punched him in the stomach, the other guys were shocked by his sudden attack and saw their friend was out cold. Jin did a roundhouse kick in the air before looking at them.
“I’m a black belt, wanna try your luck?”
The two guys picked up their friend and ran off. He looked at Miyeon who was wiping her tears away. He paused when her soft doe-like brown eyes looked up at him. His breath caught in his throat at her beauty. Her straight jet-black hair flowed down to the middle of her back and her bangs stopped at her eyebrows. He noticed she was thin but had some curves.
“Thank you so much for helping me.” She smiled walking towards him. His cheeks became hot.
“Y-Yeah …bye.” He gathered his stuff and ran to the nearest building.
~~~~*~~~~
He moaned to himself. “Kinda after that, I’ve never been able to talk to her no matter how much I tried.” He thought to himself.
She glanced at him and he instantly looked away. She forced a small smile and looked at the professor.
~~~~*~~~~
Tae hummed to himself walking down the hallway. He couldn’t wait for his last class to end. He was going to be able to challenge himself in drawing. He walked into his art class and spotted the boy with light brown hair that he shared a table with.
“Hey, Jungkook.” He ran over to the table as Jungkook smiled at him.
“Morning Tae.” Tae sat down next to him. “Have you thought about what to draw for class?” He asked. Tae placed his head on the desk sighing.
“It’s between a tree and a fruit bowl right now?” He asked and Jungkook nodded.
“There you are Tae.” Yoongi walked into the classroom.
“Yoongi Hyung, what brings you here?”
“Your grandfather said you left your money on the kitchen table.” He handed Taehyung his money.
“Oh, I really did! Thank you so much, Hyung!”
Yoongi yawned. "Not a problem."
“Ah Hyung, this is my friend Jungkook. He’s the first person I became friends with here. Jungkook this is Yoongi Hyung, he’s renting a room at my grandfather’s house.”
“Nice to meet you.” Jungkook shook his hand.
“You too.” He gave a soft smile and walked out the class ignoring the girls that were staring at him.
“Wow, you live with him?”
“Yeah and five others.”
“He’s really hot.” Jungkook smiled and Taehyung tilted his head.
“Are you into men?”
“I am.”
“Wow, you're so straightforward about it. You never felt any confusion about it or anything?”
Jungkook shook his head. “ Not really, I knew from a young age and my mom accepted it with open arms so I’m comfortable in my sexuality. How about you?”
Tae folded his arms. “I am too though I tend to my thoughts and feelings to myself."
"Your family doesn't except you?"
"My mom does and that's really all that matters. But my other family still kinda stick their noses up at me." He shrugged.
"If they can't accept you, then fuck them. That's my motto this year."
They both laughed.
~~~~*~~~~
Jin and Tae entered the house after classes. Once Tae walked through the door he turned to Jin.
“Okay, time for a naked picture!”
Jin covered his mouth looking around.
“Babo, don’t say that out loud! You don’t know who's here and worse what if Grandpa hears and gets the wrong idea.” He scolded the freshman. “I’ll meet you in your room. I gotta prepare myself mentally for this.” He sighed, and Tae nodded skipping off. “Why did I agree to this again?” He groaned walking into the bathroom.
He knocked on Tae’s door after leaving the bathroom.
“Come in,” he said. Jin took a deep breath and walked inside. He saw Tae’s back facing him. He looked around and his mouth flew open. His walls were covered by anime posters, idol groups, and random drawings.
“What is all this?”
“All the anime and music I like.” He said. “When I like something, I like to hang it on my wall, so I don’t forget that I liked it.” He began rambling about the different types of music and anime he liked. Tae then looked at Jin who’s eyes widened.
“Y-Y-Your glasses?”
Tae rubbed the back of his neck. “When I seriously draw something I usually put contacts in because my glasses sometimes hinder my view.” He ran his hand through his hair and used a headband to hold his hair back.
Jin stared at him in amazement. Now that he was able to see his full face, he was very handsome. His features were almost unrealistic, big beautiful bright brown eyes, nicely shaped plumped lips. His eyes traveled down to his body where he noticed a white t-shirt and ripped denim jeans.
He closed his eyes shaking his head. What the hell was he looking at? And handsome or not this guy was weird.
Tae tilted his head.
“Jin Hyung, are you alright?”
“Let’s get this over with.” He mumbled, and Tae nodded and set up a chair for himself.
“You can sit on my bed.”
Jin removed his shirt, Tae looked at him before looking away. Next, Jin removed his pants and neatly folded them on the bed. He took a deep breath to remove his boxer briefs until Tae sprang up.
“What are you doing?!”
Jin saw Tae’s face was beet red making his own cheeks heat up.
“I’m getting naked like you wanted to draw!”
“But when you take your boxers off …you’ll be barring everything.”
“Yeah!”
“Okay.” Tae took a deep breath.
Jin turned his back to him. “Don’t get embarrassed after asking me to do this.” He muttered. He placed his hands on the rim of his underwear and began to pull them down.
“W-W-Wait!” Tae grabbed his wrist making Jin look at him.
“What now?”
“You can keep your boxers on and just throw that sheet over your lap instead.” He said making Jin’s face drop. “My innocent eyes shouldn’t see such a thing.”
“Your innocent eyes are gonna get fist soon,” Jin said making Tae chuckle. “How long?”
“About an hour.” He said sitting down across from Jin. “Just place your hands on your lap.”
Jin watched as Tae’s eyes darted from him to the sketchpad. Jin looked up at one of the posters in boredom. He noticed five guys posing with big smiles.
“Who are they?” He finally asked. Taehyung looked at him before turning to see what he was looking at. He then smiled and went back to drawing.
“That’s BigBang, they’re really awesome.”
“Ah, I heard of them.”
“They’re good right?”
“Yeah.”
“You can talk as long as you stay still. I know an hour or so will be boring just sitting there. I really appreciate this, so thank you.”
“I guess your welcome …you did force me kinda,” Jin said making Tae giggle. “How long have you been drawing?”
“Since I was about four or so. I’ve always loved drawing.”
“What brought you here?”
“I heard this college had a great art program.”
“My questions aren’t distracting you, are they?”
“No, I have a younger brother that’s eight years younger than me, so I mastered the art of multitasking.”
“Your dad is Grandpa’s son, but he said he hadn’t seen you in five years. Are your parents divorced or something?”
“My father died five years ago.”
Jin instantly winced. “Ah, s-s-sorry. I didn’t mean to bring up something tender.”
“It’s alright, I like to speak about my father.”
“So it’s just you, your mom and your little brother.
“And my stepdad, my mom remarried two years ago.”
He nodded. “How is your stepdad? Is he one of those stepparents from hell?” Jin tilted his head when he saw Taehyung visibly flinch but he remained silent waiting for him to say something.
Tae licked his lips and moved his face closer to the sketchpad.
“H-H-He’s cool.” He managed to get out. That was an odd response but then again Jin noted Tae was odd himself. “Enough about me, what about you?”
Jin groaned a bit, he hated talking about himself.
“What do you wanna know?”
“I don’t know, tell me a little about your background, your hobbies and why you live here.”
“I have a mom, dad an older brother. He’s ten years older than me and he’s currently married with two kids a boy and girl.”
“Aw, how old?” Taehyung smiled.
“My nephew is five and my niece is three.” He then sighed. “No one but Kennie and Grandpa knows this but I feel like I can trust you.” Tae looked at him for a moment before going back to his drawing. “My family is wealthy, I came here for that reason. I wanted to make a living on my own and not constantly live under the shadow of my brother and father and I don’t have any hobbies.” He shrugged.
Tae stopped drawing and stared at him.
“You don’t have anything you like to do?”
“Not really.”
Tae placed the sketchpad on his lap. “That’s bad! Hyung, you must have something that you enjoy doing in your spare time, at least one thing!”
Jin rubbed his head trying to think. “Well I used to play the acoustic guitar but I stopped my senior year of high school because I felt it was pointless.”
Tae gasped as his eyes grew wide. “You can play the guitar? You should still play it! I wish I could play music but my talent is drawing so I can’t complain but being able to play an instrument is a blessing and you shouldn’t take it for granted.”
Jin rubbed his head from getting lectured. “But I have no time anymore between full-time college and full-time work.”
“There’s always time to do something that makes you feel at ease. If you don’t make time for yourself you’ll be old, gray and bitter before you know it wondering why nothing ever makes you happy. It’s important to take time for yourself.” Tae pointed his pencil at Jin. “Hyung, take better care of your mental health.”
Jin laughed, this guy never failed to amaze him.
“I would love to hear your play one day.” He said smiling.
Jin stared at him. No had ever said those words to him before and he almost didn't know what to make of it.
One amazed him about Tae. Not only did he have a hidden beauty on the outside but on the inside of him was something beyond words. He found it funny that Tae was so quick to say someone like him was beautiful but he felt the real beautiful person was him.

Vietcong
There was a sweetness to her at first but like a sour patch and opposite actually. Sweet sour gone. Not gone yet but on the outs. She is fighting vietcong for my birthday this year. Liberation and forcing morals. I am the one who ran away to Canada. The pussy draftee who couldn't leave mama's arms and face death and fight for this. Let someone else do it. I'm the sissy who fled. She was strong and never let me forget it. She was in the jungle fighting off the people in the trees with green face paint and weapons. She was in the tank. I was drinking coffee in Montreal. Granted asylum. She was gone and brave. When she returns from the jungle with PTSD and sleeping with a handgun under her pillow, I'll be reminded that I was the pussy who fled to Montreal.
I actually was a mother in the jungle. I had 5 babies and my husband left me there. I was quasi-anorexic,  couldn't eat if I wanted my babies to survive. They had names. I gave them rice and milk. I had water occasionally. We lived and we had a home. I had 5 babies and no husband and a shotgun in case an American tried to take my babies. I didn't know what the war was about. I just knew it existed. I knew that my jungle was being torn apart and there were guns and mines and I got less food and couldn't leave my house without fear of being shot. I knew that if an American saw me I would be dead on the spot and my babies would be too, and my husband, my dear love, would come home to nothing when he eventually came back. He left and I haven't heard a thing. I live with the babies now and they have names and I feed them rice and milk and I don't know what's happening outside my home. We are camouflaged and I know English so I can say whatever they want me to. I'm on their side. I've killed my kind for them. I swear. Look at my babies. Look at them.
The sweet sour girl came to my home and stripped me. She was in her truck and pulled up and stripped me. Forcefully opened my door, and stripped me. Searched every crevice of me and of them. Checking to see if we were hiding something. I don't know why. I don't have anything. I promise. My husband is coming home soon.
I shouldn't have said that.
I was taken and tied up outside my home. I was naked. My eldest child, 3 years old, held my youngest, 2 weeks, and wept for me. I smiled and said it'll be ok sweetie. She said something in English I couldn't make out. She drove off and I ran. I ran deep into the jungle. I know this jungle well. I know everyone here and they know me and I am loved. My babies will be safe if I run to my neighbors and ask her to take them. That's what I'll do. Hands tied I ran and my babies will be ok if I get there before the truck comes back. I told her what had happened and she cut me loose and ran over. I didn't hear a truck or anything so she should be ok. I hid in her home. She had a bigger home than me and she had a larger seating area in the back. Her husband did well. Mine didn't. I don't know where he is. I pulled on one of her skirts that was on her bed and a plain shirt.
I waited beneath her small framed bed, something my family doesn't have. I heard my baby crying and I never heard a truck. She got them and it's ok. I see my eldest first and hop up from underneath. She got my babies and now we have to stay here until they leave. I lit a cigarette she had been keeping in her skirt pocket and wept. But I am safe. The soldier will find me here but nothing is in my home except my shotgun and a book my father gave me. It was the Secret Garden. Nothing that will seem out of the ordinary or peculiar. I guess the book but she can't think it's anything.
My husband died 3 hours after the lady came knocking and tied me up. He was getting me food. He did not fight nor did he wish to. He hated my shotgun, in fact he replaced the real bullets I found with rubber ones. Horrific to think about. Pacifist even in the times of war. I don't know if they linked me to him. They could've I guess, from the few pictures I have of us from our various excursions to the cities.
We used to be city folk. Before 5 children. Now we are here. In the city I could eat and eat and get fat even, if I pleased, but rarely would I indulge in such a thing. I saw movies and experienced more life than any of these people. Now I am smoking her last cigarette as a possible war criminal because if my husband was caught with anything other than groceries I am a link and I ran. They could kill me, my babies, and my neighbor for this. They in fact will.
"Maybe I turn myself in? Run home and you take them. They will be alive and have no ties to me you can say I am a pig or a traitor and you are on their side and go to the city and keep them." I wept and realized I don't want to be without my babies but if they're alive that is all that matters.
"No sweetheart sit here. We will figure it out." She rubber my back and whimpered. She knew she would die for me. Why for me? I am loved in the jungle but never thought of myself as someone worth dying for. I would die for people, they don't die for me.
I began to hear trucks and sirens and sounds of babies crying and mothers screaming and husbands being yanked from the trees. They're looking for me. The war criminal. That little draftee turned me in. My husband would die for me. I would die for him. He died for me and my babies and now we are alone and they are yanking husbands from the trees because that draftee got angry that she couldn't pull me naked to her camp and shoot me in front of all the hot soldiers.
The Americans were sexy, the men at least. The draftee at my door was beautiful but I am not gay.
I'm sure I would've been used as an asset. There's one soldier I have spied on through my little bush and he is who I would love if I didn't love my husband. He had cropped hair and was thin and had on all green and was wearing glasses. He was drinking out of his canteen and weeping. Away from the boys. Quiet place to cry for the sexy soldier missing his mama I guess. We made eye contact and he smiled. He put down his gun and walked over. "Hello ma'am. Sorry to bother you. I won't hurt you, but can I bother you for some food? Anything ya got. I'm aching for a home cooked meal. It's ok I won't turn you in or nothing. You don't seem to be a commie. You look like city folk." He gave me his hand and helped me up from my crouched position. I gathered that he asked me for food and said he didn't want to hurt me. I nodded and took him inside my home.
My babies were babbling and the eldest was sleeping. He went over to one of the girls, my chubbiest, and picked her up. "Hey mama you're a cutie!" He pinched her cheeks and tickled her belly, she loved him. The male attention my husband seemed to lack when it came to raising babies, made her giggle and feel safe. I pulled out some of the cooked rice and chicken and egg I had and made him a bowl. We still had our city bowls. We're not jungle people.
"Ok sir. The food. We had it for lunch, still warm." I smiled and gave him the bowl. I was going to eat it for dinner, but this man needs a meal. He seemed delighted.
"Oh my gosh, you are an angel. Thank you so much miss." He grabbed my hand and kissed it. His glasses fogged from my warmth I suppose. I felt something for him that I knew was what I was missing with my husband. Some sort of kindness and affection. Two bodies that are able to move smoothly with each other, a shared consciousness. I had that with the soldier I feel. The way we moved. He naturally picked up my baby while I made him food. The kiss. The eyes, his glasses the way he held me. It felt good. He ate his food rapidly and I watched him. He was messy. He had my baby on his lap and bounced her on his leg. I offered to take her because of how fat she was, but he said no. A gentleman. My husband was a sissy.
He then asked what I thought about the war. I told him I didn't know. I said I came from the city. We moved before the war started because my husband lost his job. We had no family. I was pregnant with twins and we had a baby at home. I didn't know what was happening. I knew the government was being bad, I knew they weren't being normal. He nodded. He said he didn't get it either, just saw his birthday on the television and passed the health test. He looked upset. I rubbed his hand and then his back and kissed him. I wasn't a whore but this man was an exception.
If you marry for love, good for you. I married so my mother would stop bringing boys to dinners and making me hold their hands and listen to their stories.
"Thank you so much for the food sweetheart. I hope we can meet again at some point. That would be nice. I hate this situation. Maybe I'll come back here to hide out. I gotta get back to camp. They'll think I died. Maybe that wouldn't be too bad. If I died and this was heaven." He handed me back my fat baby and kissed me again. "You really are beautiful. I hope your husband finds a job." He winked and hugged me and my baby and kissed her fat head. He left and I whimpered and squealed and rocked my baby in my arms and she was still heavy but she had his essence on her. I loved her little fat head and him. His smell lingered in the room and I wanted to capture it. He smelled ripe but sweet.
I know this is the man she would've killed me to impress. Fucking whore. I would be naked and naturally he would want me over her. I have boobs and a brain and a pretty face. I am not her asset. She doesn't get to shoot me in front of him.
I held my fat baby and heard the truck. She was looking for me. I knew she was. At that point the news of my husbands death hadn't reached me. I heard the truck stop outside. I took my babies and shoved them under the bed. I quickly put up my hair and put on a hat and tried to seem like someone else. She walked in. Gun in hand. Nothing like my soldier. She smelled bad. Long hair. A woman. Women shouldn't be at war.
"Ma'am. Please sit." She ordered my neighbor. I sat too but she kicked my foot. "Strip."
I did.
She pointed the gun at my head and kicked me down. "Get up." I got up. She pushed me back down and dragged me outside. I could hear my babies whimper. She tied me up against a stump. I heard more trucks. I began to weep. I looked at the truck and saw him. The soldier. My soldier. He got out of the truck and patted the draftee woman on the back. We did meet again.
"This her?" He smiled. "Hot, she got anything on her?"
"No sir, found her husband in the city. She's city folk. He's a commie. We had him killed."
"Nice work." He poked my boob with his machine gun. He smiled at me. I was crying. My husband was killed by this whore and now my soldier is poking me and saying she did well. I'm doing well.
"Shoot her?" she asked. She gave the soldier "the eyes" the ones where you know she wants to fuck him. She wants to choke him out.
"I don't know. Maybe we make a woman outta her. A good woman." He sneered.
"You wanna fuck this whore? She's a fag probably. Naked while another woman is in the house."
"Doesn't mean she can't fuck well." He poked my boob again. He came up and grabbed me. She pulled up her gun. He was grabbing at my boobs and punching my stomach and holding my crotch with his dirty fingers. She looked me in the eye. She shot him. He slumped over on me. She walked over to me. She grabbed my hair and used it to pull up my chin.
"Fucking whore fag." She stepped back, put up her gun. She shot me 5 times. I could hear my babies crying. My neighbor screaming. Everyone felt something and I felt the heat of the bullets and my heart stopping. I don't know what a commie is. I didn't die because of that. I died because a man wanted to fuck me and not her. I died because she was angry. I died for her sins. I died because she was horny and wanted someone who wanted me. I died because someone wanted to rape me and not her. I died because of jealousy.

I was a mother with 5 babies alone in the Vietnamese jungle where the American forces were closing in on the Viet Cong. I died for jealousy and my husband died for his belief in Vietnam and the Vietnamese people to be different. I heard he was the leader. He loved me and maybe I loved him. She was the draftee who had PTSD and was upset that the man she wanted to marry raped me and not her. I died for that. It's worth dying for. I didn't suffer from PTSD because I was dead. In my last moments I thought about how she would feel in 40 years. How she would feel about killing a mother. I bet fine. She would marry someone more attractive than him. Someone who would want to rape her.

She went for Vietnam for my birthday and I was the one who fled to Canada. The pussy. The mommy's girl. I would never understand her pain.
