Some of the whump are inflicted on purpose, meaning he could’ve prevented it with his skills but is often undercover so has to withstand the pain. I’ve chosen to include it with cursive writing since you sometimes can see him “faking it” and that kinda ruins the whump for me.

Season 1

1x01 Gunpoint, manhandled. Kicked multiple times, grunting in pain, bloody bruised face, fight, limping, passes out. Aftermath, bruised body/ribs, grunting by movement. Pain inflicted on bruised ribs.

1x02 Inside burning house, coughing.

1x03 Chased, jumps off building, twists ankle, limping, ice on ankle. Outnumbered, fight.

1x04 Attacked, struggle, slammed against wall. Gunfire, hit with ricochet bullet in shoulder, bleeding. Field medicine, bullet removed, grunts in pain, needs help getting dressed.

1x05 Gun to chest, manhandled, pushed to the ground, fear. Blindfolded.

1x06 Fight, outnumbered, threatened. Under gunpoint, under gunfire. Slammed against car twice.

1x07 Under gunpoint, punched multiple times, bloody mouth, manhandled, grunts in pain. Punched, kicked, arm twisted in pain, strangled.

1x08 Fight, hand grabbed, twisted in pain, punched, strangled, heavy breathing.

1x09 Punched, under gunpoint. Strangled by wire, coughing, gasping for air, wound on neck.

1x11 Crying, emotional. Under gunpoint, punched.

2x11 Under gunfire. Emotional, manhandled, angry, held back.

2x13 Hostage in bank robbery, gunpoint, threatened, punched, bloody face cut, field medicine.

2x14 Attacked, knife cut on arm, bleeding.

2x15 Fight, punched multiple times, slammed against wall.

2x16 Fight. Wanted by agency, on the run.

Season 3

3x01 On the run, surrenders, handcuffed, arrested, in jail. Painfully gets arm twisted, interrogated, shoulder dislocated, grunts in pain, begging, painfully set back, ice pack on shoulder. Shoulder twisted again, shot at, fear. Tied up, punched, cuts wrist by freeing himself, fight.

3x02 Tied up, interrogated, multiple punches, knife play in face, cut, fear, bloody mouth.

3x03 Cuts himself on glass. Brother shot in front of him.

3x04 Hit’s himself, bloody cut, bruised eye.

3x06 Attacked, outnumbered, fight, tasered, unconscious, manhandled, captive, tied up. Fight, escapes. Rough fight, grabbed by throat.

3x09 Shot with rubber bullet, coughing, pistol whipped.

3x15 Threatened, inside burning warehouse, coughing.

Phew! What a show I must say. Enjoyed every minute of it. There’s a lot of good whump here and I think this list speaks for itself! It’s lowkey reminding me of MacGyver but with a twist of The Mentalist?

Okay I need more whumptober goodies when you’re ready. Snippets, summaries, vibes, whatever you got I’ll take it.

I'm excited for it! I think I've got an idea for each day now (yet another writing spreadsheet) and it's a mix of old and new. I'm not optimistic to get it done in a month but it will be done.

There are some that I'm incorporating into current fics eg. 2 chapters of Snap, 4 chapters of Have You Noticed, 2 chapters of Chaos Theory, and a couple more ficlets in the Jamie Babysitter series.

I'm planning on launching my season 2 what if fic during whumptober as well as it is ... whumpy at the beginning 🙈

Coming up with the ideas was a weird experience as some just came to me but some I really flipped and flopped on. I'm a hurt/comfort fiend so all of them are going to have a whump but things end up ok vibe. There's a lot of Jamie Tartt (as is to be expected) but hoping to take this opportunity to branch out a little bit.

My favourite one line idea so far - "Jamie gets a stalker, everyone thinks he is just paranoid except Jan Maas who lets him hide out at his house"

And for letting me rant about vibes (as I love talking about fic), here's a little snippet from my Day 12 fic -

"Mate, you know I love you right?" Jamie bounced on the slightly too firm mattress absent-mindedly. He seemed uncaring that his friend was hunched in the bathroom between the sink and the ridge of the base of the shower. The slight pain of the raised plastic digging into his hip was the only thing that was keeping Sam's brain tethered to his physical form. He was not moving and risking losing that, even though his ass was starting to tingle from sitting on the cool hard floor for too long. This all didn't seem to bother Jamie though as he continued to move. Up and down, up and down. "So I don't mean this to be harsh or owt but this is such a sad room to be stuck in," Jamie continued but despite the brutality of his words, his tone was soft.

Thanks to injuries, COVID stealing my singing voice 3 years ago, and my clarinet being broken my hobbies have definitely diminished. Right now it’s basically just reading, and watching shows and movies, maybe a smidge of writing. Does getting obsessive and anxious about the internet/social media count as a hobby?

Sam Winchester, Star Wars, Supernatural, The Lord of the Rings, Never Have I Ever. Background obsessions are everywhere, like Doctor Who, Teen Wolf. Mention it and I’ll be talking for hours.

What was (one of) the first time(s) you experienced whumperflies?

The first was probably either while reading the Gone series by Michael Grant, or watching Teen Wolf. I vividly remember some of my first whumperflies being from watching season 7 of Supernatural and realizing what Lucifer had done to Sam in the Cage. Now ANY of their scenes give me whumperflies.

What’s your favorite whump scene from a piece of media?

Episode 3x18 “Riddled” from Teen Wolf. Everything with Stiles in that episode!! I have watched this over and over again just to see Stiles missing and getting tortured in his sleep. His SCREAMS. I’d recognize them anywhere. He’s getting hypothermia, and there’s a fucking steel jaw trap on his leg!!!

Hmm, this is tough because I read so much. Probably the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas because of it being epic fantasy with most of the last book being battles, and there is definitely a lot of whump.

supernatural s14e12 prophet and loss (w. brad buckner, eugenie ross-leming)

feel like i'm just grinding through s14 at a decent pace. several times now they've made me had minor (to moderate) breakdowns and i just want to keep plowing through because i don't want the breakdowns to last more than one day 🫠 been a long time since a season made me cry so much. and especially with mid-season episodes? but it feels more.... hm. calculated. like when i bitched about 4 months suddenly equals 40 years in hell etc.

ranted about it in 9x09 because i don't think i was making my feelings known here for every episode back in s4

instead i just sighed because “trust me, kevin” and “i always end up screwed :)” so now dean’s gonna feel guilty. he’s already feeling guilty enough, did we need that too? when they push too hard on the excessive dean whump, i get annoyed. like the whole 4 months=40 years, i enjoyed torturing people, etc. edgelord bullshit :P

except instead of getting mad about it being edgelord bullshit now, i'm just feeling brokenhearted and manipulated. very not fun times. it's too much too close together to the jack thing and too similar to things they've done in the past, i think. is why it's pushing me away so hard.

dean's nightmare in the box / suicidal deathbed-esque convo also with interstellar-ish music / interstellar cornfield chase (c. hans zimmer) played by anna lapwood on the organ

well. dean's nightmare was awful. shades of him in hell calling out for sam. cannot fucking wait until this particular plotline gets snuffed out. and because i can't deal with not comparing this interstellar-ish music (it's in both spn scenes) i tacked it on to the end of this video too.

I started watching Supernatural tonight. I really just want to start at season 4 when Castiel appears but I know I’m going to miss out on important plot points if I do that. So I’m starting at the beginning. So far Sam’s my favorite of the two brothers and I’m really hoping that there’s some more whump in store for him and I won’t have ‘picked’ wrong. I hate it when I watch a show and the whump happens to characters I don’t really like (e.g. several of the Star Treks and Without a Trace, oh and of course, NCIS).

And another thing, does Dean ever get nicer? I’m not too fond of him so far. He cares for his brother but his blind devotion to his dad and rudeness to others are a bit off putting.

He wasn't supposed to be able to chain Castiel up when the angel stepped between Dean and the demon.
