Amidst this heartbreaking events taking place in Gaza (Palestine) all the Ummah is grieving because we think we cannot actually do anything to aid our brothers n sisters there, I too was thinking that for a long time, avoiding to watch news because it does nothing but increase the anxiety and a sense of helplessness. And then I read this ayah of surah Zukhruf during tilawah. The way Allah subhanahuwata'ala says, that even if He takes RasulAllah ﷺ in death, Allah is fully all Able to take revenge and retribution from the kuffars. So, even if it's too painful to see our people dying in cruel merciless attacks, Allah will accept them as Shaheed and Allah will Avenge their deaths. Soon there will be a day, when these kuffar will face what they've earned through the wrath of Allah. This ayah gives the courage to keep patience in these hard times. But something more important along with this is told in the next ayah....It's where Allah says, "so adhere to what is revealed to you..." i.e. the Quran. And it's of utmost importance as an Ummah, we stick to the Quran and Sunnah. Seek aid through patience and prayers. Don't deviate towards inappropriate acts (rallies, protests where people cross various limits)
The reason for our calamities is because we left the Quran and Sunnah and started to follow the deviations and desires. So, the cure to lift these calamities is in gathering back upon Quran and Sunnah. So, make sure in these hard times, that losing hope and mere grieving will not suffice. Strive harder to bring Quran and Sunnah in your life, help others with it too, help the Palestinians (I'm not saying just muslims but many people overlook that even Christians live in Palestine) through donations and supplications. Remember, more than changing profile pictures, standing in solidarity, online campaigns...your striving for Shariah will help the Ummah. May Allah help us all and May Allah curse and punish the kuffar with severe torment in both worlds. Aameen.

10 Ways you can Overcome your Nafs (Commanding Soul)
1. Constant Purification
Increase in your worship acts and strive for obedience of Allah at all times. Follow His guidance through the teachings of the Quran and Hadith. You should prioritize with the compulsory acts such as five daily prayers, even as you try to pick up the supererogatory ones.
2. Conscious Awareness
Your nafs is conscious and as such you have control over decisions you make that will impact your daily life and the hereafter. Therefore be conscious of Allah at all times and make a choice to break free from the negative desires and inclinations.
3. Avoid Sins and Prohibitions
And always follow an evil thought, speech or act with a good one. You can achieve this through learning and seeking beneficial knowledge. In that way, you can sieve the truth from falsehood; and permissible acts from prohibitions.
4. Remember the Test of Temporal Life
This temporary life is a test and a preparation for the ultimate abode – the everlasting world and hereafter. Which then is more worthy of striving for?
5. Follow the Sunnah
In our beloved Prophet, we have the perfect example. So follow him and you won’t go wrong.
6. Think of Positive and Negative Effect of Every Action
For example, with the 5 daily prayers the benefits from physical to psychological bring serenity and a tranquil effect even beyond the prayers. While delaying/missing prayers due to laziness and negligence may bring about guilt, feeling of burden, regret, need to make excuses etc in addition to amassing sins.
7. Use your Time Wisely
Assess your time and accompanying deeds. And try to keep positively busy with rewarding acts. Do something for the Ummah without expecting a profit. Make it an investment for your hereafter.
8. Keep Good CompanyMind your environment and those you choose to stay around. Choose those who can help guard your creed and deen.
9. Purify your Acts through your Intention
Renew them as often as you can, centered on Allah’s pleasure and to earn paradise. Isn’t paradise and its wonders enough motivation to give up the instant gratifications for?
10. Make Dua
Make supplications for a sound and pure heart; one that is filled with Allah’s love but yearns for even more of Allah’s love. The heart can only become sound, achieve success, take pleasure, be satisfied, experience enjoyment, become pleased, attain serenity and calmness through the ibadah (worship) of its Lord; having love of Him and turning to Him (in repentance). Even if it were to attain every type of pleasure from creation, it will not acquire serenity and tranquillity. This is because the heart possess an intrinsic need for its Lord, since He is its deity, love and pursuit and with Allah the heart achieves joy, pleasure, delight, amenity, serenity and tranquillity. MASJID NIMRAH
Located in Waadi Urana, Masjid Nimrah is constructed where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered the last sermon and led the congregational prayer. Read on to learn more about the significance of Masjid Nimrah in Islam.
Tumblr media
▪️What Is the Significance of Masjid Nimrah to Muslims?
Masjid Nimrah marks the location where the beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stayed before delivering his final sermon on the plain of Arafat. Being among the most sacred Islamic monuments, even today, during Hajj, it’s the duty of the Imam of Masjid Nimrah to deliver the last sermon before the Dhuhr and Asr prayers are performed together.
▪️Where Is Masjid Nimrah Located?
Located in the plains of Arafat at Wadi Uranah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, Masjid Nimrah is a significant Islamic landmark.
▪️What Is the Name of the Mosque in Arafat?
Masjid Nimrah is a famous mosque located in Arafat. It is the place from where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered the last sermon.
▪️What Is the Capacity of Masjid Nimrah?
With 64 doors, 10 main entrances, three domes and six minarets, Masjid Nimrah has a capacity of 350,000 people.
Tumblr media
▪️The History of Masjid Nimrah:
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) camped after reaching Arafat on 9th Dhul Hajj 10 AH during the Farewell Hajj. After resting for a while, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) got up at midday, sat on his camel and delivered the last sermon at Wadi Urana. Following this, he (PBUH) along with 100,000 companions, completed Hajj.
Soon after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) finished addressing the Ummah, Allah (SWT) sent a revelation which said, “Today I have perfected your religion for you and completed My favour upon you, and I have chosen Islam; as your religion.” [Quran 5:3]
During the second century of Islam, Masjid Nimrah was built on the same place where the last sermon was delivered and the salah (prayer) was led by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Moreover, because Wadi Urana is located outside the boundaries of Arafat, that section of Masjid Nimrah is also outside its boundaries.
Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Last Sermon
“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present today. O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds.
Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn ‘Abdul Muttalib (Prophet’s uncle) shall henceforth be waived…
Beware of Shaitan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.
O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.
O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood.
Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves. Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.
O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.
All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people.”
▪️Facts about Masjid Nimrah:
Situated in the plain of Arafat, Masjid Nimrah is one of the most famous Masjids (Mosque) as the Khutbah (Sermon) for Hajj is aired from the holy mosque. Some lesser-known facts about Masjid Nimrah are as follows:
Fact 1: Some Parts of Masjid Nimrah Are Outside Arafat
Located outside the boundaries of Arafat, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered the last sermon from Wadi Urana. This fact and the huge number of Muslims visiting the mosque every year during Hajj or Umrah were taken into consideration during the construction of Masjid Nimrah. Because of this, Masjid Nimrah is divided into two units today; the first unit is inside the Arafat region, whereas the second one is built on the spot where the last sermon was given.
Fact 2: Hajj Cannot Be Performed by Staying at Masjid Nimrah
It is essential to know that the first part, or the front section of Masjid Nimrah is outside the axis of Arafat. Therefore, if a Muslim stays there after midday, there’s a high chance that their Hajj becomes invalid. In simpler words, one must enter the plains of Arafat at least one between the sunset and midday in order to complete the rituals of Hajj.
To make it easier for the Muslim pilgrims, several sign boards are placed inside Masjid Nimrah, guiding them to stay inside the second half and head towards the Arafat region to offer the combined prayers of Dhuhr and Asr.
Fact 3: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Delivered the Last Sermon Here
According to Islamic history, on 9th Dhul Hajj 10AH, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) camped at Arafat and delivered the Last Sermon at Wadi Urana. Today, Masjid Nimrah stands in the same place. Some important points discussed in the last sermon included the following: that the life of every Muslim is sacred, all Muslims are brothers to one another, everyone is created equal, women must be dealt with kindly and given their rights, one must abstain from doing business that includes interest, and finally that the worldly life is temporary.
Masjid Nimrah – Summary
Known as one of the biggest mosques, Masjid Nimrah is built on the place where the last sermon was delivered by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Okay I deadass can't remember if I asked for this before BUT Muslim Iida is living in my brain rent free and I NEED to know your thoughts girl
HAHDBHS AIGHT BESTIE ONLY FIR YOU
- this man Is the nice kind of haram police. He won’t go on tiktok and start bashing people for wylin out, but if there’s an argument about fiqh he’s the first one on the battlefield reprimanding guys about hayah and girls about their modesty
-is a true gentleman, sometimes girls get their hopes up thinking he’s mashallah oh-so-polite and dreamy, but they soon come to realize they’re not special-he really is just uniting the ummah
-completely oblivious to a lot of haram stuff his friends do, if they’re out in the back of the mosque parking lot he’ll match over to them, hands waving as he yells “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. KHUTBAH/MAJLIS HAS STARTED ALREADY!”
And even if his friends still have the blunts in their mouths or are barely concealing the vape pens he still needs to be told “chill out dude we’re doing something here.” Only THEN will he gasp dramatically as he sees the offensive items and quite literally drag his boys by their ears into the prayer rooms.
-definitely is one of those doctor kids who have huge houses and throw big parties, but not the crazy fun kinds. Oh no, I’m talking about the parties where your parents lecture you in the car on the drive there to “make sure you don’t embarrass us, don’t laugh too loud and don’t eat like a pig.” When you get to the dinner everyone has their legs crossed, backs straight as arrows and hands carefully placed in silk-laden laps
-old fashioned, believes men and women should be separated it not in the toxic gross dude kind. He just wants to keep “the veil over everyone’s eyes to preserve your rightful place in jannat.”
-always unintentionally sucking up to marjahs and uncles. He’s the type of fob dude that goes like “VAAH VAAH KYA BAAT” when the imam makes a good point, and does this weird little bow thing with his hand in his chest when greeting people.

In the time of Noah Allah used rain to wash away evil, For the next flood I believe He’ll use the tears of our people, I seek refuge with The Almighty against the most deceitful Iblis, Sometimes life might seem hard but don’t ever lose your belief, Allah gives His toughest jobs to His toughest soldiers, You don’t need to carry your burden alone, put it onto His shoulders, I know that life isn’t always a bed of roses, But we Muslims in the West have to follow the example of Moses, For here in the house of Pharaoh we have a responsibility, To fight for our Ummah abroad trapped in Slavery, O Allah You never lost faith in me even when I lost faith in You, And I know how blessed I am and so I pray to You, For our little brothers who like David throw stones at Goliath tanks, For our Ummah who have become slaves to the western banks, For our brothers who like Cain and Abel fight there brothers, Don’t you know Allah made us into tribes not to fight but to know one another,
The Most Beneficient listens to every single prayer The All Knowing listens to every single word, The Most Merciful wiped every single teardrop, Even when we feel alone I know He hears us, So pray for the street kids of Indonesia and Bangladesh, For those in Niger many of whom starve to death, Spare a thought for them next time you complain, Spare a thought for them next time you say God’s name in vain, And remember how blessed you are you ought to, Think to yourself what if it was your son or daughter, Struggling in vain to find clean water, Who like the Rohingya were being slaughtered, The Watchful sees every trial, The Most Glorious runs alongside us every mile, The Most Kind sees every tear and every smile, Know that Allah is there with every single child,
Sometimes we might not get everything we want to, Or may be depressed over the things that we’ve gone through, Sometimes we think Allah has forsaken us or is mad at us, But sometimes we may love something that is bad for us, And Allah know this though we do not, So keep your faith in His plan and don’t ever stop, And remember all the good things in our lives we’ve got, And fight for our brothers and sisters being shot, Who were victims of civil war in Syria a nation in crisis, Or for the victims of Israel which spreads like a virus, And tries everything it can to divide us, Like in Somalia some are kids when they’re trained to be fighters, But through it all Allah is beside us so let’s make a pact, That we won’t just talk about these problems we’ll act, For the victims in Afghanistan and Iraq, For the children of all nations across the map.

What does “The promised land” that exists in Jewish belief mean? To whom was this land promised and how?
The way of learning when, where, to whom and under what conditions the promised land was promised is to look at the book of the One that promised it.
The only book that is known to belong to Allah and that reached us without any letter or word being changed is the Quran. Both Jews and Christians accept that the Torah and the Gospel contained in the Bible were revealed by Allah but they were not preserved in their original form, that they were changed, that some parts of them were lost and that some words of the prophets and others were included in them. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “When the People of the Book bring you some information, do not approve or deny it; say, ‘we believe in what Allah sent and we do not believe in what He did not send.’” Accordingly, it is necessary to compare the information and news in the books that the People of the Book have with the Quran and the Sunnah, and to accept and confirm the ones that are in accordance with the Quran and the Sunnah and to regard those that are not in accordance with them as having the possibility of being both true and wrong equally unless they are contrary to the Quran and the Sunnah.
Let us deal with the issue of “the promised land”, which the Zionists always keep on the agenda and exploit, based on the method explained above. The issue is mentioned in both the Quran and the Old Testament (the Torah) in the books of Numbers and Deuteronomy:
“Remember Moses said to his people: ‘O my people! Call in remembrance the favor of Allah unto you, when He produced prophets among you, made you kings, and gave you what He had not given to any other among the peoples. O my people! Enter the holy land which Allah hath assigned unto you, and turn not back ignominiously, for then will ye be overthrown, to your own ruin.’” (al-Maida: 5/20-21).
According to the two verses above, the promised land being recorded as homeland for Sons of Israel (this promise and determination of Allah) is not forever and it depends on some conditions. The evidence that it is not forever and that it is about the age when Hz. Musa (Moses) lives is the expression in verse 20: Allah gave them a lot of boons; some of those boons had not been given to any individuals or communities in the world before; the holy land given to them as their homeland is among them. In the ages that followed, Allah gave other nations the boons that He did not give to Sons of Israel.
Besides, this promise is based on a condition because for the realization of this promise, it was laid as a condition in verse 21 and in the verses following it that Sons of Israel would deserve it and that they would make sacrifices for it. Allah punished them and made them live in a narrow region for forty years by prohibiting them from entering that land because they did not fulfill that condition. Sons of Israel lived there afterwards as long as they deserved it in terms of having power and high ethics; when they did not deserve it, the same place became homeland for other communities.
According to the information given in the book of Deuteronomy in the Torah, the promised land was not promised to Sons of Israel only; besides, it is not the land of today’s Palestine and Palestine in the past only. The promised land includes Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and part of Anatolia up to the basin of Euphrates. The communities that were promised this land were determined by the following sentences in Deuteronomy: “See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.”
The last Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh) is a descendant of Hz. Ibrahim (Abraham) coming from his son, Ismail; thus, the Muslims, who are his ummah, have the right to own and settle in the holy land promised by Allah if they fulfill the conditions. This is a historical fact and this land was conquered by the Muslims during the caliphate of Hz. Umar and became part of the Islamic land.
The Quran explains the ethical and legal conditions of having the right of owning and settling in a part of the earth, all of which belongs to Allah, as follows:
“(They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause) except that they say, "our Lord is Allah". Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);- for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will). (They are) those who, if We establish them in the land, establish regular prayer and give regular charity, enjoin the right and forbid wrong: with Allah rests the end (and decision) of (all) affairs.” (al-Hajj: 22/40-41).
Freedom of religion and conscience existed in the places where Muslims were dominant throughout history; churches and synagogues were open along with mosques; the name of Allah was mentioned and people conducted religious ceremonies and worshipped there. People were not oppressed because their religions, races, colors, hometowns and talents were different. People were given equal opportunities. However, Zionists transformed racism into a religion. They regard themselves as special slaves of Allah and other people as cows to milk and slaves to use. They transgress and violate the material and spiritual values of the communities other than themselves and their existence by regarding all means as legitimate. They do not give others the right to live and worship in the promised land, where they settled through blood and tricks, and they turn a deaf ear to the agonies of the people that they expel. Allah will definitely not allow them to have the promised land as their homeland because the qualities of those who deserve to live there and to mention Allah are explained in both their books and the Quran, which is the criterion for the trueness of all books; Allah states the following in the Quran:
“Before this We wrote in the Psalms, after the Message (given to Moses): My servants the righteous, shall inherit the earth.” (al-Anbiya: 21/105).

TAFAKKUR: Part 433
THE MAIN FACTORS IN THE SPREAD OF ISLAM: Part 2
A. J. Arberry has also pointed out that the reason for the spread of Islam is Islam itself and its religious values. (Aspects of Islamic Civilization, p.12)
He writes:
‘The rapidity of the spread of Islam, noticeably through extensive provinces which had long been Christian, is a crucial fact of history. The sublime rhetoric of the Qur’an, that inimitable symphony, the very sounds of which move men to tears and ecstasy…and the urgency of the simple message carried, holds the key to the mystery of one of the greatest catalysms in the history of religion. When all military, political and economic factors have been exhausted, the religious impulse must still be recognized as the most vital and enduring.’
Brockelman, who is usually very unsympathetic and partial, also recognizes the religious values of Islam as the main factor for the spread of Islam (History of the Islamic Peoples, p.37). Rosenthal makes his point as follows: ‘The more important factor for the spread of Islam is the religious Law of Islam (Shari‘a, which is an inclusive, all-embracing, all-comprehensive way of thinking and living) which was designed to cover all manifestations of life.’ (Political Thought in Medieval Islam, p.21).
Besides many other reasons which are responsible for the spread of Islam, it is the exemplary life-style and unceasing efforts of individual Muslims to transmit the message of Islam throughout the world which lie at the root of the conquest of hearts by Islam. Islamic universalism is closely associated with the principle of ‘amr bi’l-ma’ruf (enjoining the good) for Islam is to be spread by Muslims by means of ‘amr bi’l-ma’ruf. This principle seeks to convey the message of Islam to all human beings in the world and to establish a model Islamic community on a worldwide basis. The Islamic community is introduced by the Qur’an as a model community: We have made of you an Ummah justly balanced, that you might be witnesses (models) for the peoples, and the Messenger has been a witness for you (2.143). A Muslim or the Muslim community as a whole thus has a goal to achieve. This is the spread of Islam, conveying the truth to the remotest corner of the world, the eradication of oppression and tyranny and the establishment of justice all over the world. This requires the Muslim to live an exemplary life, and thus the moral and the ethical values of Islam have usually played an important part in the spread of Islam. Here follow the impressions of the influence of Islamic ethics on black Africans of a Western writer of the nineteenth century:
‘As to the effects of Islam when first embraced by a Negro tribe, can there, when viewed as a whole, be any reasonable doubt? Polytheism disappears almost instantaneously; sorcery, with its attendant evils, gradually dies away; human sacrifice becomes a thing of the past. The general moral elevation is most marked; the natives begin for the first time in their history to dress, and that neatly. Squalid filth is replaced by some approach to personal cleanliness; hospitality becomes a religious duty; drunkenness, instead of the rule becomes a comparatively rare exception chastity is looked upon as one of the highest, and becomes, in fact, one of the commoner virtues. It is idleness that henceforward degrades, and industry that elevates, instead of the reverse. Offences are henceforward measured by a written code instead of the arbitrary caprice of a chieftain–a step, as everyone will admit, of vast importance in the progress of a tribe. The Mosque gives an idea of architecture at all events higher than any the Negro has yet had. A thirst for literature is created and that for works of science and philosophy as well as for the commentaries on the Qur’an.’ (Quoted from Waitz by B. Smith, Muhammad and Muhammadanism, pp.42-43)
The tolerance of Islam is another factor in the spread of Islam. Toynbee praises this tolerance towards the People of the Book after comparing it with the attitude of the Christians towards Muslims and Jews in their lands. (A Historian’s Approach to Religion, p.246). T. Link attributes the spread of Islam to the credibility of its principles together with its tolerance, persuasion and other kinds of attractions (A History of Religion). Makarios, Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch in the seventeenth century, compared the harsh treatment received by the Russians of the Orthodox Church at the hands of the Roman Catholic Poles with the tolerant attitude towards Orthodox Christians shown by the Ottoman Government and prayed for the Sultans (T. Link, A History of Religion).
This is not the only example of preference by the followers of the religions for Muslim rule over that of their own co-religionist. The Orthodox Christians of Byzantium openly expressed their preference for the Ottoman turban in Istanbul to the hats of the Catholic cardinals. Elisee Reclus, the French traveller of the nineteenth century, wrote that the Muslim Turk allowed all the followers of different religions to perform their religious duties and rituals, and that the Christian subjects of the Ottoman Sultan were more free to live their own lives than the Christians who lived in the lands under the rule of any rival Christian sect (Nouvelle Geographie Universelle, vol. 9). Popescu Ciocanel pays tribute to the Muslim Turks by stating that it was luck for the Romanian people that they lived under the government of the Turks rather than the domination of the Russians and Austrians. Otherwise, he points out, ‘no trace of the Romanian nation would have remained,’ (La Crise de l’Orient).
The Muslims’ attitude towards the people they conquered is quite clear in the instructions given by the rightly-guided Caliphs: ‘Always keep fear of God in your mind; remember that you cannot afford to do anything without His grace. Do not forget that Islam is a mission of peace and love. Keep the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) before you as a model of bravery and piety. Do not destroy fruit-trees nor fertile fields in your paths. Be just, and spare the feelings of the vanquished. Respect all religious persons who live in hermitages or convents and spare their edifices. Do not kill civilians. Do not outrage the chastity of women and the honour of the conquered. Do not harm old people and children. Do not accept any gifts from the civil population of any place. Do not billet your soldiers or officers in the houses of civilians. Do not forget to perform your daily prayers. Fear God. Remember that death will inevitably come to every one of you some time or other, even if you are thousands of miles away from a battlefield; therefore be always ready to face death.’ (Andrew Miller, Church History; Ali lbn Abi Talib, Nahj al-Balagha)
A historical episode which Balazouri, a famous Muslim historian, relates, tells about how pleased the native peoples were with their Muslim conquerors is of great significance
When Heraclius massed his troops against the Muslims, and the Muslims heard that they were coming to meet them, they refunded the inhabitants of Hims the tribute they had taken from them, saying: ‘We are too busy to support and protect you. Take care of yourselves.’ But the people of Hims replied: ‘We like your rule and justice far better than the state of oppression and tyranny in which we were. The army of Heraclius we shall indeed, with your help, repulse from the city.’ The Jews rose and said: ‘We swear by the Torah, no governor of Heraclius shall enter the city of Hims unless we are first vanquished and exhausted.’ Saying this, they closed the gates of the city and guarded them. The inhabitants of other cities–Christians and Jews–that had capitulated did the same. When by God’s help the unbelievers were defeated and Muslims won, they opened the gates of their cities, went out with singers and players of music, and paid the tribute (Futuh al-Buldan).
To sum up, although most Western writers, under the instigation of biased Orientalists of the Church, have alleged that Islam spread by the force of the sword, the spread of Islam was because of its religious content and values, and ‘its power of appeal and ability to meet the spiritual and material needs of people adhering to cultures totally alien to their Muslim conquerors’, together with some other factors. Some of these factors are the tolerance which Islam showed to people of other religions, the absence of ecclesiastic orders and hierarchy in Islam, mental freedom and absolute justice which Islam envisages and has exercised throughout the centuries, the ethical values it propagates, and Islamic humanitarianism, universalism and brotherhood, and its inclusiveness. Sufi activities, the moral superiority of Muslim tradesmen, the principle of ‘enjoining the good’, and Islamic dynamism and the magnificence of the Islamic civilization contributed of their own to the spread of Islam.
The main religious qualities which attracted people to Islam were:
(i) the simplicity of the theological doctrines of Islam based on the Divine Unity;
(ii) rationalism of the Islamic teachings;
(iii) the complete harmony of the Islamic ideals and values with human conscience;
(iv) the inclusiveness and comprehensives of Islam, covering all aspects of physical, mental, and spiritual life of individuals and societies, hence the harmony of religion and life which it established;
(v) the lack of formalism and mediation;
(vi) the vividness, dynamism and resilience of the Islamic theology, and its creativity and universalism, and its compatibility with established scientific facts;
(vii) the cohesion and harmony of the Islamic principles, and
(viii) the shortcomings of other theological systems.

@ to my beautiful anon sister in Islam 🌺🌺
First of all, I opted to make a separate post and not share your ask for I didn't want to disclose your story or details and put them out there.
Secondly, THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING IN ME WITH THIS 🥺 Mashaa'Allah, Allahuma barik laha.
And jazaki Allahu kulla khayr for saying that my posts make you feel safe, it gave me goosebumps SubhanAllah because that's the ultimate goal, May Allah swt show his mercy and let his mercy and gentleness reach his servants via the channel of my words, ameen. Me and this blog are only a means and a reflection, may Allah swt increase our understanding and our hidaya (guidance). Ameen.
With that being said, I want to start by congratulating you and saying how proud of you I am for trying to commit to your prayers. I know " theoretically " that's a given and people take praying for granted but reality is different from one muslim to the other. We are human beings and every single one of us is experiencing their journey differently, one person's experience and struggles should not let them make judgements or assumptions about the rest of the Ummah. And for most of us, especially the newbies and the ones who just started their journey on the straight path, even committing to your five prayers is such a big deal, Alhamdulillah, so good job on that, may Allah swt keep you steadfast and help you improve in that area. There is so much more you can still accomplish regarding your prayers, so keep being excited and open, focus on improving yourself and your deeds and try to switch every negative thought or doubt you might have (for example of not being good enough) with a positive thought to always keep your spirit up and not to get bored or tired and end up giving up, AstaghfiruAllah. The journey to Allah swt is a long difficult path, and the beginnings are always beautiful and exciting, it's amazing when you find Allah swt and you decide okay I am going to start now, I am going to try and do good, and please Allah swt. But, you know what? it's that perseverance that's more important, the patience, the " trying and failing but still getting up and trying again and never giving up " that's more rewarding. So, my biggest tip for you would be to give credit to yourself, be proud of yourself, and always make duaa that Allah swt guides you, keeps you closer to Him, gives you the strength and patience to keep going thru this journey on His path. One of my favorite duaas to make is " Allahuma asleh lee qalbi : اللهم أصلح لي قلبي " as in My Lord fix my heart for me. I recite almost in every sujood and it's a reminder that our hearts are in the hands of Allah swt and that even if we think that we have become good Muslims now and we are on the right path, anything can change in a matter of seconds, and also, that we are not as good or fixed or healed as we think we are, that is why, even on our good days I think we still need to ask Allah swt to fix our hearts.
Another IMPORTANT duaa is from surat Al Imraan (3:8)
Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana baAAda ith hadaytana wahab lana min ladunka rahmatan innaka anta alwahhabu
Our Lord! make not our hearts to deviate after You have guided us aright, and grant us from Your mercy; surely You art the most liberal Giver.
This is important because there is a common belief in our religion that after one has turned to Allah swt and declared that they have repented or accepted the teachings of this religion, they will be tested, they need to prove their sincerity and if they really meant it. That's for one. And for two, also shaytan will try to trick the believer and distract and deviate them from the straight path ( I haven't recently made a post about this ). So try to incorporate those two duaas in your daily routine and Allahu almusta'aan my dear, may He swt bless every step you take and accept it from you 🤍🤍
Now, about the last part of your ask and your question: Ehem, ARE YOU SERIOUS? 😅 Bless your pure heart and innocent soul !!!!!. I know you don't need me to copy paste all the verse in the Quran talking about Allah's mercy and forgiveness because you already know THAT and you don't need me posting links of Shuyoukh and Muftis listing examples of how Allah swt accepted people's repentance and forgave them etc, you can do that yourself and I don't wanna make this post any longer. But let me just tell you one thing, wa Allahu a3lam. Had Allah swt not seen you worthy of His mercy and forgiveness, Had He not thought you deserved it, He would have never guided you to this state and to His straight path in the first place. In fact, He is the one who guided you because we don't guide whom we want but Allah swt does the guiding. And He guides whom He wants. So, why would He show you the way if He didn't want to forgive you? He already has forgiven you and He already has accepted your repentance and your deeds, in Shaa Allah 🥺🤍🤍 Look how many people around you, and elsewhere, everywhere in the world are still living astray, still living in Jahiliya AstaghfiruAllah, but He, in all his mercy chose YOU, guided YOU, because He swt LOVES YOU. And that's more that enough I'd say. ALHAMDULILLAH 🤍🤍
Update: After every prayer, recite this duaa: Allahuma a'ennee 'ala thikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika
My Lord help me to remember you, thank you, and worship you in the best way.
I will make duaa that Allah swt ease your affairs and take away all your worries, and fixes your heart. Allahuma ameen.
P.s. I hope in this post I didn't " transpass " and I didn't say anything that is not up for me to say. I am no scholar, and so far away from claiming myself to be " pious ". I am just a servant of Allah swt with some background. We are all struggling and learning and striving in our journey towards Allah swt. I am only giving my personal thoughts to a sister who asked for help, Alhamdulillah that I could and I hope I was able to. In Shaa Allah kheir.

THE NIGHT OF BARA`AH (NISF SHA `BAAN ) is between the 14th and 15th day of Sha`baan. Traditions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prove it is a meritorious night in which people on Earth are attended by special Divine Mercy. [Some will observe this Saturday night, others Sunday night. (Check your country) Both are OK] It is important to uphold these traditions, to spend it in total submission to Allah Almighty and refrain from any activities which may displease Him. Feed people, remember Allah ﷻ, remember His Prophet ﷺ, to pray its night and fast its day. One should remain awake this night and worship as much as possible. If unable, select a considerable portion of the night, preferably the second half. If a woman is prevented from praying/fasting (due to menstruation or forty days after childbirth), the angels complete her worship and present it to Allah. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE THIS NIGHT? READING SURAH YASEEN Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said the heart of Holy Qu'ran is Surah Yaseen, and Yaseen is the name of Prophet ﷺ, which means the heart of Qu'ran is Prophet ﷺ! Also, the heart of Yaseen is al-Fatihah, so when you recite Surah Yaseen on Laylat al-Bara'ah, you will be blessed. Allah ﷻ manifests His Beauty, Light and Knowledge on everyone who observes this night. After Maghrib or Isha prayer, we read Surah Yasin three times, after each time read a special dua with the following intentions: 1st reading is for long life. 2nd reading is for protection from calamities. 3rd reading is for not needing/relying on anyone but Allah ﷻ. SALAT AL-KHAYR Afterwards, at home or in congregation, perform 100 rakats prayed in sets of two rakats. In each rakat, recite one Surat al-Fatiha and ten Surat al-Ikhlas (total 1000 Surat al-Ikhlas). Some people keep track of rakats on a misbaha (tasbih, rosary beads). FASTING THE DAY OF BARA'AH Prophet ﷺ highly recommended fasting 15th Shabaan (mustahabb) and a vast majority of Predecessors of the Ummah kept this fast. ❤️

some ideas to stay productive while in quarantine
as muslims, our deen teaches us to seize every moment we’ve been given.
the Prophet ﷺ said, “take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth before you become old; your health, before you fall sick; your wealth, before you become poor; your free time before you become preoccupied, and your life, before your death.” {Musnad Imam Ahmad}
Therefore, with the latest restrictions placed upon us in response to the coronavirus, we should attempt to make the most of our time at home.
here are some suggestions to do just that:
make up any qadha salah you may have- before giving to charity, be sure to pay your debts. a missed salah doesn’t just go away, you have to make it up, and now is the perfect time to do just that. use this opportunity to become saahibe tarteeb (someone who has less than 5 missed prayers in their account) so that your duas are more accepted and you can move onto praying nawaafil
read an abundance of quran- the quran is the equivalent of oxygen in terms of our spirituality, we must breathe it in and out throughout our day. however, we often times get so distracted by our worldly lives that we begin to neglect the quran. this is our opportunity to reconnect with the words of Allah aza wa jala and establish a habit of daily recitation, especially with ramadan right around the corner.
spend time with your parents- an oft-forgotten fardh, islam teaches us to treat them with absolute kindness. if you’re fortunate enough to have your parents in your life, prioritize your time together. care for them, learn from them, and just be there. it means the world to them, and it will make your aakhira
(almost) spring cleaning- we all know the hadith, “cleanliness is half of faith” {Sahih Muslim}, so it’s time we bring it front and center. use your extra time at home cleaning and organizing those nooks and crannies you don’t usually get to during your everyday cleaning. try to throw away or donate items that aren’t adding value to your life or that might be better suited for someone else. personally, i try to maintain a minimalistic attitude with regards to how much i keep in my home. if i were to pass away tomorrow, my family would probably throw away most of these items anyways, so i’d rather be the one to do it and maybe gain some reward while i’m at it.
take a class- many classes have been transferred online in response to this worldwide pandemic, in addition to the multitude of institutes that are already fully online. whether you’re practicing yoga or learning tafsir, it’s a great idea to get your mind, body, and soul into something new while stuck indoors. on that note, there are lots of islamic subjects to explore such as tafsir, hadith, aqeedah, fiqh, and seerah. and focusing on any one is a step towards a more enlightened you.
tashbeeh and azkaar- along with daily recitation of the quran, we should have a certain amount of azkaar we recite every morning and night. if you don’t already have these, i’d recommend starting with reading the kalimah, durood, and istighfaar 100 times a day. this will help you remember Allah aza wa jal throughout your day, and soften your heart. if you already have your own set of tasbeehat, stay firm and perhaps attempt to add some new azkaar to your daily routine. there is a lot we can recite, but whatever it may be, we should follow through with consistency and sincerity.
make dua- in difficult times like these, we are encouraged to turn back to Allah aza wa jal and to seek His tala assistance. we should utilize this opportunity to make sincere tawbah and dua for the entire ummah, as well as our pious predecessors. we should contemplate on death, life, and how closely the two are related. in addition, i would highly recommend keeping a dua journal, in which you can write duas and names that you want to keep in mind during your prayers. this will come in handy during ramadan, on umrah, and throughout your life. and while praying for the prosperity of the entire ummah, please spare a moment for this lowly servant.
may Allah aza wa jal accept all of our efforts and make this entire ordeal a means of becoming closer to Him tala. ameen.

Shaykh Ibn Taymiyah said:
❝The heart was only created for the remembrance of Allah.❞
[Majmu Al-Fatawa 9/213 | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya]
💎 Seven Tremendous Benefits Of Dhikr...⬇️
In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.
Indeed, Dhikr [remembrance of Allaah] protects a person from shaytaan. Whoever leaves Dhikr, shaytaan will accompany him in that manner in which a person is accompanied by his shadow. Allaah said: [ وَمَن يَعۡشُ عَن ذِكۡرِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ نُقَيِّضۡ لَهُ ۥ شَيۡطَـٰنً۬ا فَهُوَ لَهُ ۥ قَرِينٌ-And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Qur’an and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan – devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 36]
A person is not able to protect himself from shaytaan except through remembrance of Allaah and this one of the magnificent benefits of Dhikr. Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] mentioned – in his book titled Al-Waabilus Sayyib – over seventy benefits of Dhikr, and from them are: [1] Dhikr brings joy, happiness and relaxation in the heart of a person. It makes the heart calm and tranquil, just as Allaah [The Most High] said:
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَطۡمَٮِٕنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۗ أَلَا بِذِڪۡرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطۡمَٮِٕنُّ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ
Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest. [Surah Ar-Ra’d. Aayah 28].
And the meaning of Allaah’s statement [وَتَطۡمَٮِٕنُّ قُلُوبُهُم – and whose hearts find rest] is that the distress and unease in their hearts will cease and are replaced with cheerfulness, joy and relaxation. And the meaning of Allaah’s statement [أَلَا بِذِڪۡرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطۡمَٮِٕنُّ ٱلۡقُلُوبُ – Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest]is that it has to be the case that nothing else can bring [sound and everlasting] tranquillity [to the heart] except remembrance of Allaah; rather remembrance of Allaah [is the only thing that will give the heart a life based on Eemaan, truth, sincerity, sound guidance, love of good and good deeds, hatred of evil and keeping away from it etc], and [it is the only thing that will nurture] the soul [i.e. in order for it to attain all virtue]. If a person is deprived of remembrance of Alaah, his state is similar to a body that is deprived of its [essential] nourishment. There’s no life [based upon virtue] for the heart except through remembrance of Allaah. And because of this Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said, ‘’The heart’s [need of] Dhikr is like a fish’s [need] for water, so what will be the state of a fish when isolated from the water!”
[2] When a person remembers Allaah, Allaah remembers him. Allaah said:[فَٱذۡكُرُونِىٓ أَذۡكُرۡكُمۡ– Therefore remember Me [through acts of obedience], I will remember you [by forgiving you].[Ref1] [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 152]
Narrated Aba Hurairah [radiyallaahu-anhu]: The Prophet [sallal laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said that Allaah says, ‘’Whoever remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than them.’’ [Al-Bukhaari 7405]
[3] From the benefits of Dhikr is that it prevents one from committing sins, wipes away sins and saves a person from Allaah’s punishment. Mu’aadh Ibn Jabal [radiyallaahu-anhu] said that Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, ‘’The son of Aadam never performs an act that [brings grants] him safety from Allaah’s punishment more than the remembrance of Allaah [The Exalted].’’ [Saheeh Al-Jaami. Number 5633]
[4] From the benefits of Dhikr is that it earns a person Allaah’s favour, reward and grace [in a way] that a person cannot earn through other acts of worship, even though it [i.e. Dhikr] is the easiest act of worship. That is because moving the tongue is easier than moving the other limbs, for if the movement of the other limbs – day and night – was to be carried out in the same way as the movement of the tongue, a person will face great difficulty; rather he will not be able to do so, but still the reward of Dhikr [with the tongue] carries great good recompense and abundant reward. Abu Hurairah [radiyallaahu anhu] said that the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, ‘’If one says one hundred times in a day: ‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, the (Alone), He is the One and has no partner; to Him belongs the kingdom [of the universe] and for Him are all the praises, and He has the power to do everything (the Omnipotent)”, one will get the reward of manumitting ten slaves, and one hundred good deeds will be written in his account, and one hundred bad deeds will be wiped off or erased from his account, and on that day he will be protected from the morning till evening from Satan, and nobody will be superior to him except one who has done more than that which he did.’’ [Al-Bukhaari Numbers 3293 & 6403; Muslim 2691]
The Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, ‘’Whoever says, ‘Subhaanallaahi Wabi-hamdihee one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his [minor] sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea.’’ [Al-Bukhaari. Number 6405]
Abu Hurairah [radiyallaahu anhu] said that Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, ‘’To say Subhaanallaah, wal-hamadulil laah, Laa Ilaaha Ilal laah and Wallaahu Akbar is more beloved to me than everything over which the sun rises.” [Saheeh Muslim 2695]
[5] From the benefits of Dhikr is that the plants in Jannah grow by way of it. Paradise- as it has been reported in a hadeeth – is a vast plain with fertile soil and sweet water, and remembrance of Allaah is what makes its plants grow. Ibn Mas’ood [radiyallaahu-anhu] said that Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, ‘’On the night I was taken up to the heavens, I met Ibraaheem Al-Khaleel [alayhis salaam], so he said to me, ‘O Muhammad! Convey my salaams to your Ummah and tell them that Jannah has fertile soil and sweet water, and it is a Qee’aan [i.e. a plain levelled land], and its cultivation [i.e. what makes its plants grow] is the [utterance] of Subhaanallaah, Alhamdulillaah, Laa ilaaha illallaah and Allaahu Akbar.’’’ [As-Saheehah 105]
Abu Ayyoub Al-Ansaariy [radiyallaahu-anhu] said that when Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] met Ibraaheem [alayhis salaam] on the night in which he was taken up to the heavens, [Ibraaheem (alayhis salaam)] said, ‘O Jibreel! Who is with you?’ He [Jibreel (alayhis salaam)] said, ‘This is Muhammad.’’ So, he [Ibraaheem (alayhis salaam)] said, ‘Convey to your Ummah that they increase in what cultivates [the plants of] Jannah, for indeed its soil is fertile and its land is vast.’ So he [Allaah’s Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)] said, ‘What is its [means] of cultivation?’ He [Ibraaheem (alayhis salaam)] said, ‘The statement: Laa Hawla Walaa Quwwata Illaa Billaah.’’’ [Musnad Imaam ahmad 5/418. This hadeeth is a witness for the hadeeth before it]
Jaabir [radiyallaahu-anhu] said that the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, ‘’Whoever says Subhaanallaahi Wabihamdihee, a palm tree will be planted for him in paradise.’’ [Saheeh Al-Jaami. Number 6429]
[6] From the benefits of Dhikr is that it is a light for the person in this Dunyah, in his grave and in the hereafter. It [i.e. this light] will be running forward in front of him when he crosses the bridge of Siraat. There is nothing that illuminates the heart and the grave in a manner similar to Dhikr. Allaah [The Exalted] said: [أَوَمَن كَانَ مَيۡتً۬ا فَأَحۡيَيۡنَـٰهُ وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهُ ۥ نُورً۬ا يَمۡشِى بِهِۦ فِى ٱلنَّاسِ كَمَن مَّثَلُهُ ۥ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ لَيۡسَ بِخَارِجٍ۬ مِّنۡہَا‌ۚ – Is he who was dead (without Faith by ignorance and disbelief) and We gave him life (by knowledge and Faith) and set for him a light (of Belief) whereby he can walk amongst men, like him who is in the darkness (of disbelief, polytheism and hypocrisy) from which he can never come out?] [Surah Al-An’aam Aayah 122]
The first person is a believer who is [given insight, clear guidance etc] through the light of Eemaan, love of Allaah, knowledge and awareness of Allaah and remembrance of Allaah. The second person is a heedless person who is heedless of Allaah, turns away from remembrance of Allaah and love of Allaah. [Indeed], absolute success is [achieved as a result of the] light of [Eemaan, Allaah’s guidance etc] and absolute wretchedness [befalls a person as a result of] missing this light. And due to this, the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] used to ask Allaah: “O Allah! place light in my heart, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light on my right, light on my left, light in front of me, light behind me, light above me, light below me, make light for me.’’ [Muslim 763] Dhikr is a light for a person’s face and body parts, light for him in his worldly [affairs], in the grave and on the day of resurrection.
[7] From the benefits of Dhikr is that [by way of a it], a person earns [Allaah’s blessings, forgiveness, praise and benevolence] and the angels [supplicate for him and ask Allaah to forgive him]. And whoever [receives this from] Allaah and the angels, then indeed he will be successful. Allaah said:
O you who believe! Remember Allaah with much remembrance. And glorify His Praises morning and afternoon [the early morning (Fajr) and ‘Asr prayers]. He it is Who sends [blessings, forgiveness, praise and benevolence] on you, and His angels too [supplicate for you and ask Allaah to forgive you(Ref2)], that He may bring you out from darkness [of disbelief and polytheism] into light [of Belief and Islamic Monotheism]. And He is Ever Most Merciful to the believers. [Surah Al-Ahzaab. Aayaat 41-43] [Fiqhul Ad-iyah Wal Ad-kaar. pages 17-21. sections 1 & 2. slightly paraphrased]

First and foremost, I would like to send my prayers and love to those whose heart is in pain, brokenness, emptiness, or sufferance. I pray that the suffering will soon end and that InshaAllah (ان شالله ), with the will and blessings of Allah will your heart be healed, full and ready to love and be loved again. Ameen. Heartbreaks are inevitable. The heart can break over countless and multiple reasons; not necessarily be broken by our spouses but friends, family or in the event that causes a sense of displease can already break someone’s heart. Heartbreaks are tests from Allah, it is never to put you in a state of misery or a form of repercussions. Why does Allah give us heartbreaks? It is only to bring us closer to him, to bring us back to prostrations to him. A test of faith, I must say. Allah does not empty our hands but only to replace it with something much greater and better than what’s taken. Indeed, Allah knows best, and wants what is for the better for his ummah. Do remember, trials and tests are blessings of Allah. Alhamdulillah. Brothers and sisters, please do not lose hope, faith, love and most importantly do not stop praying, making lots and lots of du’a to Allah. The phase of getting your heart broken or being broken as a whole are the worst and dreadful experience ever. Being in such a fragile state, it is easier to fall into the gloom of depressions that will henceforth create many negative thoughts. Let every tears that you shed falls onto the prayer mat, let every cries you utter be only to Allah and Allah only. Let every heartbreak makes you fall into sujood and let every motivational quotes that’ll strengthen you comes from the Qur’an. You pick, you choose, this is your life, no one else will wear your shoes. Different people, different struggles, you’re not the only one tripping over life’s hurdles, Allah will never test us with more than what we can handle. Sabr, and In Shaa Allah, life’s candle will soon be rekindled. Stay strong, keep making du’a, continue praying to Allah. Have Faith. Always more, never less.
I pray you heal from all that’s breaking your heart.

Four lessons you can learn from Surah Ad-Duhaa
1.) ‘By the morning brightness’. [93:1]
The fact that Allah swears by the midmorning (al-duha) is proof of its merit. It is a noble time, in which it is recommended to pray the Duha Prayer. If someone prays the Fajr prayer in congregation and then remembers Allah until the sun has risen and then prays the Duha Prayer, they will have the reward of both Hajj and Umrah.
The Prophet (saw) said, ’As each morning comes, every one of you must give charity for every limb of their body. Saying ‘Subhanallah’ is an act of charity, saying ‘Alhamdulillah’ is an act of charity, saying ‘La ilaha ill’Allah’ is an act of charity, and saying ‘Allahu Akbar’ is an act of charity. Commanding people to do good is an act of charity and forbidding evil is an act of charity. To pray two units at the time of Duha suffices you all this charity’.
We are reminded there is light, there is always hope. That the days come and go, and with every sunrise is the new opportunity to do good, to grow, to change. There is hope that things won’t always be the same, so look forward to everything that is yet to come.
2.) ‘And the hereafter is better for you than the first (life)’. [93:4]
The honour which Allah will bestow upon you in the next life is far greater than that which we have bestowed upon in this life. Likewise, although the sincere believer is given mercy and blessings in this life, what is awaiting him is much better.
We are reminded that this Dunya is nothing, that it was designed to hurt us, to be a test and that real joy and happiness lie in the hereafter.
It is recorded by Imam Ahmed that Abdullah bin Mas’ud said, ’The Messenger of Allah was lying down on a straw mat and it left marks on his side. Then when he woke up he began to rub his side. So I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Will you allow us to spread something soft over this straw mat”. He replied, ”I have nothing to do with this world. The parable of me and this world is like a rider who rests in the shade of a tree, then he passes on and leaves it”’. [Tirmidhi]
So always remember, whatever you feel in this world, you won’t feel those hardships in the next. Only peace and happiness will follow you. This world is only a number of days but your hereafter is for eternity. There is always better coming, so keep firm in your hope and remember Allah will give.
3.) ‘And your Lord is going to give to you, and you will be satisfied’. [93:5]
We are reminded that Allah has not left us alone. He is always there, watching over us, and soon He will give.
A man from Kufah came to ask Sayyiduna Muhammad al-Baqir whether the hadith of the Prophet’s intercession was authentic.
He confirmed that it was and then he said, ’You say that the most hopeful verse in the Qur’an is ”My slaves who have wronged themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Allah forgives all sins. Truly He is the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful” [39:53]. We say, however, that the most hopeful verse is ”And your Lord is going to give to you, and you will be satisfied’ [93:5]’.
The beloved Prophet (saw) does not want any of his Ummah to enter the fire and will do his utmost to intercede for every member of his Ummah.
We learn that our happiness is coming. That verily after every hardship there is ease. Allah is promising us that we will be satisfied. That after every bout of rain, there is sunshine. This verse reminds us of the love and mercy that exists within our faith, that Allah is close to us. ‘And we are closer to him than (his) jugular vein’. [50:16]
4.) ‘So as for the orphan, do not oppress (him). And as for the petitioner, do not repel (him). But as for the favour of your Lord, report (it)’. [93:9-11]
We are reminded of everything we have, of all the blessings in our lives. There are those with nothing, how can we be ungrateful to Allah?
This encourages us to give, to give ease to the needy the way we want ease from our difficulties. Allah has given us so many favours, if we were to count them all we would pass before we finish. Allah loves us, he wants us to become connected to him.
This verse tells us to uphold the rights of orphans and to remember that their Prophet (saw) too was born an orphan. Do not harm orphans and do not look down upon them. If you are given responsibility for their property then fulfil this responsibility with excellence and give them from your own wealth. Do not take advantage of their weakness and do not think that they have no supporters.
There is so much barakah in sponsoring an orphan, The Prophet (saw) raised his index finger and middle finger and said: ′I and the sponsor of an orphan will be like these two (fingers) together in Paradise’.
Our tafsir is based on the commentary of Habib Umar, which can be read here.
In summary, these are the four simple lessons we can learn from this short, yet powerful Surah:
That there is hope, that Allah loves us, that better is coming, that Allah will give and reminding us of all He has given before.
They remind us that our hardships won’t last forever, and how they passed before; they will pass again. Alhamdulilah for everything He has given us, for when we look at those who have nothing, then we realise how lucky we are.
And the way Allah has given to you, you can give to others from what He gave to you. And the reward for that lies only with Him.
