But I prayed dua last night simply asking Allah for a good night's sleep.
For those who do not know me, I have a terrible time with sleep. I'm an insomniac and have to take medication to sleep 8 hours, and that sleep is always interrupted. And then because of my PTSD, my dreams are almost always nightmares.
Well, while my dreams last night were mildly distressing, last night was the first night in forever that I actually slept through the night with no interruptions.
When the Prophet (ﷺ) uttered salutation at the end of the prayer, he used to say:
O Allah, forgive me my former and latter sins, what I have kept secret and what I have done openly, and what I have done extravagance; and what You know better than I do. You are the Advancer, the Delayer, there is no god but You."
The Dua the Prophet ﷺ Taught Abu Bakr رضي الله عنهما
O Allah, I have done a great wrong to my soul and there is none to forgive the sins, except You, ” Grant me a pardon from Yourself and have mercy on me; as You are the Most Forgiving and the Most Compassionate.”
It’s recommended to make this dua at the end of the prayer before the Tasleem. The person can make dua with anything found in the Quran and authentically reported on the Prophet [ﷺ], and should avoid supplicating with any other wording, including the speech of people.
