5 Ways to Make Your Writing Sessions More Productive
1. Set specific goals: Before each writing session, establish clear objectives for what you want to accomplish. This helps you stay focused and motivated throughout the session. Whether it's completing a certain number of pages, reaching a specific word count, or finishing a particular section, having a goal in mind keeps you on track.
2. Create a conducive writing environment: Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can minimize distractions. Eliminate clutter, turn off notifications on your electronic devices, and set up a writing area that inspires creativity. Some people find instrumental music or ambient sounds helpful for concentration, so experiment to find what works best for you.
3. Develop a routine: Establish a regular writing schedule and stick to it. Consistency builds momentum and makes writing sessions feel more like a habit. Whether you prefer to write early in the morning, late at night, or during specific time blocks throughout the day, find a routine that aligns with your energy levels and other commitments.
4. Use productivity techniques: Explore different productivity techniques to enhance your focus and efficiency. One popular method is the Pomodoro Technique, which involves working for a concentrated period (e.g., 25 minutes) followed by a short break (e.g., 5 minutes). Repeat this cycle several times, and then take a longer break (e.g., 15-30 minutes). Other techniques include time blocking, task prioritization, and setting deadlines.
5. Minimize self-editing during the drafting phase: When writing your first draft, try to resist the urge to constantly edit and revise. Instead, focus on getting your ideas down on paper without judgment. This allows for a more continuous flow of thoughts and prevents self-censorship. Save the editing for later drafts, as separating the drafting and editing stages can lead to increased productivity and creativity.

🌼 Morning routine 🌼
Those couple of months completely ruined my morning routine. I used to be an early bird, always waking up before 6 am, starting a new day with journaling and reading. Yet due worsening mental state and depression, I am finding myself unable to get up in the morning, prolonging the holy state of dreamland. I want to break this strike and feel like myself again!
For next couple of weeks I want to slowly implement every single step of my dream morning routine which is as follow:
💛 Getting proper 7-8 hours of sleep! - I feel like we are preparing for a new day even before it starts. I used to think sleep is not so important but now I can see it has a huge impact on my mood. Because of that I want to focus on getting enough rest everyday.
💛 Journal my morning pages - to get rid of any unwanted feelings or emotions and set my mind straight on my goals and dreams. Implementing manifestations through writing.
💛 Read for the first 20-30 minutes after I wake up. - I want to break the habit of checking my phone and being stuck on strolling unconsciously.
💛 Do a quick 15-20 minutes Pilates or Yoga workout. - I want to feel energized and accomplished, so I can continue this positive energy flow through the day!
💛 Take a shower, do skin care, and overall take care of my body [teeth, dry brushing, guasha, etc.] - I believe good hygiene is a key point of feeling confident and happy with myself. It helps me with getting comfortable in my own body.
💛 Eat nutritious breakfast - I want to focus on eating more vegetables. Break old eating habits and create new pats.
Even though those steps may sound simple, I feel like they can be extremely effective in a long run! I am confident I will apply all those steps in upcoming months of becoming best version of myself 🌼

Helpful study/ productivity tips from your friendly neighborhood dark academic
These are just the tricks that have personally helped me and if you haven’t tried it before give it a whirl 👍🏽
Download and play ‘library ambiance’ sounds in the background as you work.
The most productive I’ve ever been was in my university library and since I won’t have access to it anymore after graduating, why not recreate it at home? This is especially good if lo-fi study music is too distracting for you. Background sounds like papers rustling, writing, keyboard typing always gets me in the zone.
Download the Google Drive and Google Docs apps and do your work on your phone.
I’ve found the familiarity of my phone’s keyboard makes me focus more and type faster. It’s really helped me get work done when I’m just not in the mood to sit at my study desk.
Write like garbage in your first draft.
When you just can’t get yourself to type that first sentence; write like you’re trying to get your point across in the most garbage way possible. It immediately makes your task way less threatening when you see the funny shit you’ve written and it gives you something to work on. I’ve always found this easier than trying to write perfectly on the first try.
Do anything but look at a screen during your study breaks.
Study breaks are supposed to make you feel refreshed and break the monotonous cycle of staring at your laptop screen. When I used to let my breaks be more screen time (i.e. checking social medias) I always got back to work feeling even more tired and drained because my mind didn’t consider it a break or a change in pace. Now my breaks usually consists of making myself a snack, having internal monologues with myself, doing kpop/ tiktok dances, and annoying my partner.
Read backwards.
If you’re having a hard time concentrating as you read paragraphs of information; try reading the last paragraph first, and then working your way up till you get to the first paragraph. This usually breaks the monotonous forward rhythm of reading and your mind wakes up at the idea of doing a task differently.

Healthy productivity guide
We are not robots. We are human, with human biology. Human bodies were not designed to sit at a desk for hours on end, staring at a screen. Nevertheless, we've been conditioned into judging our "worth" based on how much "output" we can churn out. I'm here to remind you that there's a way to approach productivity in a more balanced manner.
Your productivity is mostly based on the way you’re taking care of yourself. You can’t be the best version of yourself if you’re running on motivation or determination only. You need reliable self-care systems.
This goes double for my neurodivergent friends. We can’t rely on ourselves, we need external, hard rules, and most importantly, we need to set these systems up so that our mind aligns with what our body is feeling.
To be productive, you need to:
Sleep enough (7-9h per night. It’s hard sometimes especially if you get woken up by anxiety or other problems, but it’s a good goal to try to stick to)
Eat well (nutritious food AND enough calories to keep you energetic. Blueberries and bananas are my favorite evening snacks!!)
Drink enough water (coffee and tea are tasty but they’re not enough! Keep a water bottle at your side AT ALL TIMES. It’s life-changing honestly, you begin to realize how dehydrated you’ve always been)
Exercise (work within your limits, and start small, but don’t skip this one. This has been the biggest contributor to my mental and physical well-being by far. It’s contributing to your health, it’s a great way to de-stress, it boosts energy, your body releases happiness hormones, you feel accomplished, you sleep better, you become more confident... It’s literally win after win after win)
Take care of your mental health (whatever that means to you, for me it means writing things that bug me, trying not to get too emotional over things I can’t control, positive affirmations, listening to music, drawing, etc.)
Meet new people (I know it’s scary, I’m an introvert. BUT, meeting new people lets you learn from them, broaden your perspective on life, get inspired, and make friends! Search up local events on meetup.com, there are plenty of different ones for all kinds of people, both outgoing and not-so-outgoing)
This list is quite long but it’s necessary to do all of those things (in a balanced way that feels right for you) in order to become a well-rounded person.
Once you’ve made changes on different “fronts“, the positive effect compounds: your nutrition affects your energy level which boosts your ability to exercise which then impacts how well you sleep, and round and round we go.
Once you’ve created a healthy system to fall back on, productivity at work or in school only becomes one part of a larger image. Doing one thing in excess is not healthy or sustainable.
Take care of yourself lovelies ❤️

Firstly, HELLO BESTIES!! I'm back after almost a year because I'm finally back in my study routine and wanna keep it up. And I really missed my studyblr days :(((
Soooooo I'm gonna post here regularly (hoping and praying that I do) and give daily updates so I stay consistent and work hard.
I started my paediatric rotation this month, and I've realized that looking at children with fatal conditions tears my heart apart in a way that adult medicine never did.
I'm trying to keep up with my clinical learning and also theoretical learning. This month's goal is tough but we are determined.
Today was honestly a W day because I paid attention in class and learnt a lot. Also, I presented a patient at the hospital, and I think I did well comparatively because I was so much worse last year. There's a room for lots of improvement and we are working on that.
I got home and wasted 2 hrs watching TVD but then finally got to studying. Today's topic was multiple pregnancies, and I have to revise it tomorrow again.

Yesterday I completed all my academic tasks but forgot to shower and eat lunch lol.
I have realised I’m my most productive in the evening and in the morning I’m the least productive.
Today I want to treat myself but I don’t know how to lol. But I’ll do all my self care necessities today and studies, like showering and going for a walk.

Truth.
Procrastination, Laziness, Unproductive, Unmotivated. These aren't the real problems.
Our mind can very easily go into a mode of finding possible threats our us, and that was very necessary for evolution, agreed. Find the tiger, look around if a volcano was erupting, search for food, yada yada. But when these threats aren't around, there's a possibility, of creating our own threats. Namely, avoiding the task aka procrastination, laziness, and you get the gist.
The real problem is hence, fear.
How to tackle it? 👇🏻
