So my job doing “Team Member Appreciation Week” as if they actually appreciate us 🙄

So naturally, they want us to dress up. So this chick (I call her Gidget) that works with me said she’s dressed as a voodoo priestess

(You already know where this is going)

So then I’m looking at her outfit and she look like something out of Game of Thrones and Braveheart lol. She got a deer skeleton head mask and when I asked her what her costume was and she voodoo priestess, I naturally said,

“Ohhh so that’s what we look like, huh?”

She looked at me and said “what the fuck does that mean?!” And I just stared at her.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Mess with my ancestors if you want to, you gon end up in trouble

Go to a museum with: Bob. I love museums because you don't have to stress over topics to talk about and there's no wrong way to interpret art. It's fun to have conversations with someone who isn't rolling their eyes and trying to get you to leave but with someone who's interested in your thoughts.

my mom loves to lie and like she always swears she was NEVER homophobic or anything to me as a child “i even have a gay work friend” but a really funny memory resurfaced recently where i asked if i could use birthday money i had to buy a rainbow flag when i was like ??? 7?? because i LOVED rainbows. and she said no that means something Evil and god will hate you . so what did i do. but ask my grandmom for a rainbow sweater for christmas and proceed to only wear that sweater for three years when it got cold because i didnt like the idea that god hated colors and i wanted to challenge him

i don't think people really understand what's happening in gaza. with each passing day that sees more and more palestinians dead, it's becoming easier and easier for those in the west to perceive them as nothing more than a statistic. they might engage w the occasional palestine post, sure, but it's just as easy to scroll right past that moments later w no real outrage for the genocide retained.

it's vital to stay reminded that palestinians who are with us today won't be with us tomorrow. it's happening every second of every minute of every hour, and it's relentless. somewhere in gaza a little girl is losing her mother, a little boy is watching his siblings bleed to death, elderly people are infirm with starvation and illness, palestinian women and girls are being sexually assaulted and kept in cages, fathers are leaving tents to find food for their families and not coming back. this is all happening right now, and it's a direct result of the west's complacency. it's a direct result of their not seeing arabs as people worth saving.

it might be hard to compute as a westerner, but this is real. don't let your privilege blind you to your humanity.

Being forced by adult men into a box (which leads to the not like other girls syndrome) and exploring the 'real world' (being forced to grow up too quickly) while fighting the realisation that maybe the world sucks and being a woman is so difficult while hoping with all your heart that it's not always going to be this way.

Losing touch with the very things that made you happy because they're considered immature and girly? (The group of teens that said they hadn't played with Barbies since they were five.)

Older women telling you that you have to learn the truth about the world and that you can never have your old life back (Kate Mckinnon's Barbie) despite it being the only thing you yearn for, but also older women being a bright spot and support (the old woman on the bench) in the endless slough of life.
