being toge's little sister — fluffy headcanons
Tumblr media
now he may not seem like it, but toge cares a very great deal about you <:) if you were a sorcerer too at jujutsu tech, he'd always stop by your dorm and hand you some breakfast, even if it's wordless, you can tell toge really loves you and is willing to to do this for you everyday, like he'd do for you at home.
he's a little protective of you; being your older brother isn't the only reason he looks after you a whole lot, he takes it upon himself to make sure you end up taking care of yourself when he's not around, so he tries to teach you how to defend yourself from curses and creeps.
though he wants you to be able to take care of yourself, he usually goes out with you and stays by your side as much as he can. though he doesn't look too intimidating, he wants to make sure that anyone who dares to hurt or harass you will regret it.
he never wants to hurt anyone with cursed speech, much less a non-sorcerer who has no chance of winning against him in a fight, but if there were any weirdos who won't take no for an answer from you, he might as well just use it to make them go away, not to fully hurt them, just scare them off a little and rush to your aid.
if you were the only one in their family who didn't have cursed speech, instead of you needing him, he'd kinda need you to help him translate his thoughts to the others.
he loves going to arcades and convenience stores with you, and despite you both having allowance for the week, toge would insist you shouldn't use your money when your big brother is around :>
he remembers your favorite snacks from childhood and buys them for you on occasion, he teases you sometimes by pretending to share with you some of his snacks only to eat it up at the last second bc he's a menace >:)
of course, he's only playing, he'd give you twice what he offered you anyway because you're his dearest sister <333
if any one of the students in jujutsu tech wanted to date you, he'd actually get a little more defensive and protective over you and challenge them to a 'who knows you more' battle (he comes out on top every time because he knows you inside and out so it's kinda unfair 😭😭😭)
when you cry, toge is always feeling like he's walking on eggshells. he isn't exactly the best at comforting people, what with his limited speech options and general feelings of uncertainty if his comfort tactics are working, but he'd always wait for you to put a pause to the tears and offer you a listening ear and a comforting hug or pat if you needed them.
he's very loving when it comes to you, everyone else is second, you're always the first one he'll save if it comes to that. he'd rather you live a long life ahead of yourself compared to him, he can never live with the guilt of losing his younger sister, so he always makes sure to teach you everything he knows to keep you safe and let you know he loves you with his little actions, presents, and gestures.

Tumblr media
Part One
It was a beautiful day, the sun high overhead, the ocean waves crashing against the Cliffside as you held your arms across your waist. The boats in the distance swayed in the gentle breeze, and behind you the excited chatter of the spectators fill the stands. The lions on the banners seem to come alive as they snap in the wind. Growling at you and causing the pit in your stomach to grow deeper.
Oberyn was insatiable last night training in the room, twirling his spear in preparation for the fight of his life. You’d escaped with an escort to walk the shit smelling cesspool of Kings Landing to this very spot where you had seen him. The Mountain. Man after man being cut down as his sword sliced through them like bread. His deep baritone laugh sent a quiver through your heart.
You jump as Oberyn wraps his arms around your waist, his chin dropping to your shoulder. Both of you watching the water. “Why do you look so worried my little Sparrow?” he coos pressing a kiss to your neck. “I am going to kill that man. I am going to get him to confess to raping and murdering my sister and her children. I will win, for Elia, for my family, for you.”
He turns you in his arms and brings your hands to his neck like that night so long ago. His forehead coming to rest upon your own. You let out a shaky breath, “I refuse to lose you, Oberyn.”
He pulls away slightly started, “You only call me Oberyn when you are cross or in insane pleasure my love, and since I’m not buried in your delicious cunt, I believe you are angry. Is that correct?”
You look into the depth of his eyes before dropping them to the ground. “Keep your eyes on me. Never look away from me, do you understand?” You nod and he lifts your chin before kissing you passionately. His arms coming to engulf you completely.
“You’re going to fight that?” Ellaria’s alarmed voice breaks the moment, the tension in your shoulders returning. He kisses you softly again before going over to the table and taking a sip of his wine.
“I’m going to kill that,” his confidence is electric and you step closer to Ellaria. Her hand reaching for your own as you both watch him with bated breath as he comes to stand before you. “Are you worried?” he teases her and she scoffs before pulling him close.
“Don’t leave us alone in this world,” she begs before kissing him. Their tongues twisting together and you feel your mouth water at the site. He pulls back as the crowd roars to life.
“Never,” he looks from her to you and back. “I love you.” He spins the spear and turns on the charm, the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. You watch as he taunts the Mountain of a man before him, before the Viper strikes.
The scene replays over and over in your head. The moment he stabbed his spear through the thick armor of his belly. The way your heart clenched in elation at after so long receiving his most treasured of wishes. Seeing the man who brutally raped his sister and murdered her children confess his sins. Then in a moment, the elation bled like the golden skin of your lover. He was overturned and laid beneath the giant, a breath away from being crushed to death. The gloves the size of two golden pumpkins on a harvest feast table began to crush the head of the man you loved.
Ellaria screamed, grasping her head in horror, Tyrion standing there in shock. You don't think, running across the courtyard, unsheathing the knife from your thigh, and plunging it through the head of the giant. Blood spurting from his wound as the tip of the knife exits through his eye.
Shocked, he fell to the ground, dead, Oberyn using what strength he had left to push him off. His face a mess of blood and sweat, left eye wide and dazed. Jaw most likely broken from the punch to his face. The right closed tight and crushed from the thumb of the monster you'd slain. The crowd erupts into outrage as your chest pants and anxiety sucks the air from your lungs.
Ellaria ran over to you and embraces you as you collapse to the ground before your Prince. His broken body reaching out for you both. You feel his hand graze yours and look into the beautiful brown iris of the man you love. The roar of the crowd fading as you focus on him, feeling him pull you from the water as your lungs re-inflate.
The maester comes and declares the Mountain dead before you are ripped from the arms of Ellaria and Oberyn by the King's guard. By order of the Hand, you are to be imprisoned by meddling in a match to the death. You let out a breathless scream as Oberyn tries to get up, and Ellaria reaches for your hand. The ghost of her fingers slipping through your own. The Dornish guards coming for her to pull her back. One paramour is lost they would not do if both were to be taken. You fix your eyes on Oberyn as the doors shut in your face, and you dragged away to the dark, desolate dungeons of the lower kingdom.
Two days. Two days of shivering in the darkness. The constant drip coming from outside as a summer rain drags down upon the concrete walls of stone, driving you mad. This must be what insanity feels like. No reprieve in sight for the unending torment you shall endure at the hands of these Northerners. Footsteps in the distance sounds, and you lift your head from your knees. The golden yellow dress adorned with the Martell suns now dirty and covered in filth. Your beaded headpiece you borrowed from Ellaria is cradled in your hands, your fingers grazing over the beads, soothing to the touch.
You remember the night of the wedding when you went to bed with her. The way she watched you through her dark lashes as her tongue buried itself in your cunt. You laid bare for her in nothing but the beaded headdress against the soft pillows and furs. Oberyn standing in the shadows watching, his mouth curving into a smile as he takes a sip of his wine. The memory fades, and you look upon the cell door to see the vision of your fantasy, Ellaria, draped in a dark cloak, almost blending in with the shadows.
"Little sparrow, are you alright?" her voice coos among the harshness that surrounds you. You crawl to your knees and stand on shaky legs. "You look pale. Have they fed you?" You shake your head no and place your hands through the bars, reaching for her hands. She lets out a gasp at the chill of your skin and furiously rubs your hands between her own.
"Is...is he alive?" your voice is hoarse from disuse, but she knows who you mean.
Nodding, "Yes, very much alive and raising absolute hell. He has been advised by the master, you know the old fat one who you said made your skin crawl?" You tremble, thinking of how his beady eyes followed the curve of your breasts in your dress. "He told him to rest, but he will not until you are released and in his arms again. He wanted to come here himself, but that Lannister creature refused, thinking he would release you and run away into the night."
"How are you here then?" you ask, holding tightly to her hand as the other runs across the skin of your cheek.
"I am like a cat in the dead of night; no one would suspect me to come and see you. I brought you some things." She releases your cheek and brings around a satchel from under the cloak, removing a chunk of crusty bread, some hard cheese, and a small pouch of wine." You eagerly reach for the food taking a bite of the bread and uncapping the wine, taking a large gulp.
Food had never tasted so good before, the cheese you placed in the fold of your dress for later with the other half of the bread. Who knows how long you would be in this hell before you found reprieve and were rejoined with your lovers.
You may never see them again. You may never see your daughter again. The gravity of the situation sinks in, and you feel the sob swell in your chest before it breaks free. The tears falling freely down your cheeks as she shushes you, cupping your cheeks through the bars.
"Sweet love, we will get you out of here. You do not need to fear; Oberyn and I will return home to Dorne with you very soon." You sniffle as she rubs your tears away, pulling you toward her and placing a delicate kiss on your lips. "I have something else for you," she whispers against your lips before kissing you again and pulling away to reach under the cloak. "This is from Oberyn."
She holds it out to you, and you tremble hands shaking as you reach for it. Hand opening and closing in hesitance before you touch the envelope. The smooth parchment warm under the icy fingers clenched around your throat. "Does," you look down at the paper, "Does he hate me?"
"What are you talking about? Did you not hear me tell you he is tearing Kings Landing apart to get you out of here?! Why would you think such a thing?" her hands grasp yours, and you look up at her through your tears.
"I denied him an honorable death; I wounded his pride. He is the Red Viper of Dorne and his, whore, is the one who killed the Mountain. What if he is only trying to save me so he can kill me himself?" Speaking your fears from the last two days aloud made your heart splinter and crack.
Her hands tighten, "My sweet sparrow, please," she begs, "read the letter. Let it ease your mind and heart." You hear the sound of footsteps down the corridor, and she tightens her grip, "I must flee, back to our Prince, but please do not despair. You will be back in our arms and bed soon." She pulls you closer and kisses you again, slipping her tongue past your lips as her fingers glide against your skull. She pulls away abruptly and disappears into the darkness of the night.
You retreat to the shadows of your cell as a guard passes the door and sneers down at you, spitting into the cell, "Dornish slut." He walks off, and you let the tears fall like gems down your cheeks pulling the envelope close to your face. The smell of fresh citrus and bergamot drifting into your nostrils, and they flare as your transported back to your first night with him.
*******
A light mist from the ocean drifting over your heated skin as you looked upon the night sky, stars twinkling like gems, each one unique and special upon the ebony backdrop. You hear the gentle footsteps behind you; he wants you to know he is coming. The Red Viper could easily sneak up on you before he strikes, but every click of his heel is intentional. Your eyes droop closed as you feel the warmth of his chest behind you, enveloping you like a cloak as his arms come to wrap around your shoulders and clasp around your chest. His chin coming to rest upon your shoulder as you drop your head back and lean it against his own.
"I wasn't sure you would be here," his moist breath tickles your neck, and you shiver.
"I wasn't sure either, but I can't deny that I want this. That I want you," you slowly open your eyes and turn in his embrace, his hands coming down to your hips.
"What made you change your mind?" his thumbs rub gentle circles against your waist, and you look up into his russet eyes, deep and velvety.
"I realized I was only living half a life. Going through the motions but never really existing, until you touched me. My Prince, your touch ignited the flame deep inside me, and I burn for you," he takes your hands in his and brings them to his shoulders and up to his neck. His fingers trailing down your arms and towards the gentle swell of your breast. Breath catching as his thick fingers grazes the edge of your heated skin.
"Will you promise to be mine then?" his voice, accented and thick, send a tremble down your spine as he steps closer and places a kiss on each of your cheeks, his mustache tickling against the soft skin. Pulling away, he is but a breath away, his lips a ghost against your lips as his eyes bare down into your own. "I am a selfish man; I will want you all to myself."
"What about Ellaria?" you feel his lips graze your own, and he smiles.
"Do you want her to join us, my little sparrow?" He kisses you softly, and you emit a small gasp as he slides his tongue against the plumpness of your bottom lip, sucking it into his mouth and letting go with a light pop.
"I want all of you," you whisper, "and that includes her. She is as much a part of you; the moon belongs to the night sky." His eyes glow in the moonlight, and he moves his hands down to the clasp of your wrapped dress, dark blue in color, such a contrast to the warm golds and yellows that surround you.
"May I see you?" he murmurs, and you nod. His fingers move deftly to unclasp the small hook on the side of your dress, pulling it open. Your nipples hardening as the chill runs across them and his eyes widen at finding you bare beneath. "Exquisite," he lets out a breath and allows the dress to slip over your shoulders and down to the floor. He steps away and circles you, your skin vibrating as the viper prepares to strike. His hands leave a blazing path as the pads of his fingers rough run over your flesh. When he comes around full circle, his eyes have darkened obsidian, and he reaches for your hand.
Taking steps backward and leading you back into the room. The bed in the center of the room is large enough for five people, and you are sure it has held many more than that before. "Lay on the bed," his voice is low and deep, and you do as your told, falling back amongst the plethora of pillows and rich furs. "Spread your legs," you drop your thighs to the bed, and he groans as your cunt is displayed before him, glistening in the moonlight.
He takes his time and strips off his robes, letting them drop to the ground in a heap. Your heart-stopping and restarting in quick succession as you see his impressive member. Thick and long curved up against his belly, he strokes himself as his eyes devour you whole. Mouthwatering as he pumps himself at your body bare before him. "Where do you want to fuck me, my prince?"
He growls before taking a step toward you, "everywhere." You clench, and a whimper escapes you as the bed dips, and he kneels between your legs, looking down at you. He starts at your neck and trails his hand down over each swell of your breast, his fingers twisting a nipple and eliciting a gasp as you feel the coil tighten in your belly. Lowering them to your stomach and down your thighs. Stopping at your knees before coming back to the place you want him most.
His fingers gliding among the seams and then slowly dipping into the heat pooling at your core. Collecting your slick onto his finger and bringing it up to his mouth to taste. "Seven hells you taste better than the sweetest Dornish red," he moans, and you watch with bated breath as he licks his finger clean, his tongue sweeping out to collect your pleasure. "I want to taste you little sparrow, make you take off into the heavens on a cloud."
You whine, "We have all the time in the world, my Prince, please, please put your cock inside me. I'm weeping for you," you've never begged in your life, but you don't seem to care as he lets out a small chuckle.
"You are soaked for me," his finger running back and forth between your lips, making you drench him. "Should I give this little cunt my cock? Do you think she's ready?"
You nod, biting your lip, and he leans forward, notching his cock at your entrance, his body hovering above you. "Don't close your eyes," he whispers, bringing a hand to your chin, "You will keep your eyes on me this whole time, do you understand?"
"Yes, my Prince." He smiles as he slowly pushes inside of you, both of your moaning as he sinks deeper into your tight heat, and his eyes burn into yours. You bring your hands up to his arms and squeeze as he moves further in, inch by glorious inch until he's seated fully inside you.
You'd had a couple men over the years. Quick fucks in the stables or the woods where you once lived in the North. Stable boys who finished before you'd even begun or been too drunk to keep it up. Not a single one had made you feel as full and complete as the man above you. So deep, you could feel every ridge of his cock press against the soaked confines of your pussy. "Does that feel good little one?"
"Yes," you gasp as he pulls out slowly and then quickly shoves back in. The delicious snap of his hips against yours as your skin develops a thin sheen of sweat. He continues his slow, torturous pace until you are withering beneath him in agony. "Seven Hells, please move faster, harder; I want you to fuck me, Oberyn."
He stops, eyes widening in surprise, "What did you call me?" Your hand goes to your mouth in shock, you'd never called him anything but Prince since your first meeting, and you worry that you've offended him before his voice drops an octave. "Say it again."
Eyes never leaving him, you whisper, "Oberyn."
"Louder," his hips start to move faster but still not enough.
"Oberyn," you say it louder this time, nails digging into his broad shoulders.
"Louder," he brings a hand down to rub at your clit between you as he moves faster.
You moan, "Oberyn," it's louder this time, and you feel the heat coming to a crescendo as he shouts at you again.
"Louder!"
"OBERYN!" you scream his name as he pounds into you furiously, sure to leave bruises on your flushed skin as you cum, squeezing his cock and gushing around him. He works you through your orgasm, rubbing your clit in time with his thrust before he slows down and moans above you spilling inside. His cum hot and thick, painting your walls as you squeeze him tight, milking him for all he is worth. He collapses to his forearms, and you exhale shakily, trying to catch your breath.
He slips out of you and collapses next to you on the bed, his hand on his waist. And his other arm coming to wrap around you and curl you closer to his chest. You take a deep breath inhaling the sweet scent of citrus and bergamot that clings to his skin. His fingers tracing patterns on your back. "Would you come take a bath with me, little sparrow?" He looks down at you, his eyes alight with mischief.
"That seems foolish, my dear Prince," you grin deviously at him.
"Why is that?"
"Because I have a feeling we will just end up dirty again," he lets out a booming laugh, and you smile at seeing the joy split across his face.
"That is very true, but please, indulge me. I want to lay with you in the hot water and wash your beautiful body with my soap so that everyone who gets within in a foot of you will know your mine." He bites the tip of your nose before smiling and getting up to draw you a bath. Watching his backside walk away, his golden skin gleaming in the moonlight.
*******
The tears drip onto the envelope, clenched tight in your palms. The edges cutting into your soft skin marred with the dirt from the floor. You squint in the dim light of the fire to see your nickname written in his elegant scrawl.
Little Sparrow
Your fingers trace the letters as you turn it in your hand and dip it below the wax seal, a golden sun of house Martell breaking it. Your hands tremble as you take out the letter unfolding it. Your chest feels heavy as though a thousand rocks lay precariously, waiting to crush. You heave as great sobs swell, and the tears flow down your cheeks, almost making it impossible to read in the dim flickering of the light but somehow you manage.
Little Sparrow,
I faced death. I could hear the screams of Ellaria, the light closing in as that monster lay above me, crushing my skull beneath his fingers. The sun peaked through, and I prayed to the seven that I would one day see you and Ellaria again. My children flashed before my eyes smiling and running through the gardens of our home. Until I heard the sound of a goddess charging in battle with a cry, and the great evil was slain. The sun returned to my vision, and above me stood you, my golden goddess.
You saved my life. I have always loved you, from the moment I laid eyes upon you to the moment I believed they would shut forever. I will always love you. I will tear this shit hole of a city apart brick by brick and kill anyone who gets in my way before I let them take you away from me.
They will rue the day they touched a hair on your perfect head. The Red Viper lays in wait, my little Sparrow, and soon, very soon, he will strike, and you will be back in my arms. We will be home with Ellaria, the girls, and our beautiful Serena; she will know what a fearsome warrior her mama is.
I love you more than words can express. Soon, my love, I will show you all the ways I love you. Soon.
Your Prince

< Part I
“Children please” Elijah call their attention walking out to the cover porch and stop at the rim of the steps, watching at both families.
Rebekah rolling her eyes at the threats Klaus was shouting to Dean, who was held by Sam, avoiding a major fight, a fight he know they couldn’t win but prepared to do it in case was needed.
“Dean, it’s enough!” you shout getting out of the house to be next to Elijah.
Sam loose his grip on him when he glance to you and start to walking in your direction “What the hell you’re thinking?” he denied with his head “No, obviously you weren’t thinking! A fucking vampire? A fucking Original Vampire?” with each word he was shouting at you he was getting closer.
You closed your eyes and exhale, trying to keep at bay your emotions, it wasn’t easy to deal with Dean, you feel Elijah hand in yours squeezing it softly, making you open your eyes and make eyes contact with him. Action that didn’t pass unnoticed for the hunter.
“You blood sucker” pointing to Elijah reaching for your attention “take off your hands of my sister” he demand, glance fix on your joint hands.
“Dean” you try to repress him, try to explain.
He switch his gaze to you “Don’t Dean me” he shout angry.
“I suggest you lower your voice and change your tone when you speak to her” Elijah intervened starting to loose his calm manor.
“Who the hell you think you are?” he snap.
“A traitor, of course, my own flesh and blood” Klaus respond “plotting against me” glancing to Dean and Sam “with no other than the Winchester’s”
“You’re been paranoid as always Niklaus” he state changing his sight from Dean to his brother.
“Me? Paranoid?” he question him, a smirk on his lips to then change it to a serious one “tell me what a Mikaelson and a Winchester could be possible be doing?” he look between yourself and Elijah, extending his arms to the sides while walking closer.
“We’re not plotting against anyone” you interject, you look to Elijah that nod to you “because of both of you can be such a “drama queens” we decided to keep this” lifting up your joint hands to then point between yourself and Elijah “us as a secret” you shared to them.
They stood in silence for a few minutes, not understanding the at all or not wanting to understand, you couldn’t really choose which one.
“Oh bloody hell!” she scream excited smiling making everyone look at her “you two are dating aren’t you?” It was more a statement than a question.
He squeeze one more time your hand and smile widely to her sister “Indeed”
“What?” Dean and Sam question at the same time, still shock to know the true “Since when?” Sam add.
“A year” you answer him watching the confusion on his face and what you could describe as disappointment on Dean’s, making you lower your head away from his glance.
Klaus used this moment to vampire speed, taking Elijah by surprise and pushing him away from you “We don’t fraternize with the enemy, much less date them, brother” Klaus grumbled once he have you against his chest, his left hand pressing against your neck while his right one behind your head.
Elijah stand up quickly and appear in front of Niklaus, he stops a few steps from him avoiding to increase his anger, making Dean and Sam turn to see the motion and set his sight to Klaus and yourself.
Dean and Sam take out immediately their guns pointed to Klaus and start walking in his direction “Let her go” Dean shout angry but calm.
Tumblr media
“If you give another step I would snap her neck, watching to Elijah “you know I would” he teased him.
Rebekah suddenly appear in front of the Winchester’s blocking their path “Lower your weapons boys, let Elijah deal with this”
“No way blondie” Dean scoff going around her.
“I ask nicely” she mention before appearing in front of him and look directly to his eyes “give me your gun and leave us the adults handle it” extending her hand.
Dean place his gun on Rebekah’s hand with wide eyes, “You seem to be the smart one between you two” she point between both of them.
Sam raised the gun and open his hand in sight of surrender “Good call” Rebekah compliment him.
“What was that?” Sam found his voice after a few seconds.
Rebekah turn to see him “To be hunters you know very little about compulsion, we will talk about it later” she whisper to then turn her attention back to Nik.
Elijah exhale, knowing he need to be precarious when Klaus was feeling threatened and held down “Niklaus” he whisper calmly trying to not show any sign of attack to him “let her go” he offer him to then moistening his lips, his throat suddenly dry “I would be back with you and Rebekah to New Orleans but let her go”
Klaus consider it for a few minutes the proposal and that was enough so you could use it to your advantage, with a move of your wrist a wooden stake slide from your jacket’s sleeve, with your hips you pull apart enough to be able to push it on his stomach causing him sufficient pain to release you.
“Rebekah” Elijah shout to her making her take both brother’s and pushed them inside the home while he take you in his arms and take you inside.
He settle his hands in your face “Are you alright?” he ask concern, looking at you from head to toe for any injured.
Tumblr media
“I’m, Elijah” you step in your tiptoes and peck him on the lips “go talk to Klaus, I will deal with my brother’s here”
“Don’t go outside” he demand.
“Unless it’s necessary” you add pushing him outside where Rebekah was waiting for him “Thank you” you declared grateful to her.
“Anytime darling” she wink at you and walk to Nik.
“He really cares about you” Sam told standing not to far away from you.
You turn to see Dean watching outside through the window, you sigh “I know this is shocking for both of you, but I do really care about him too” you cross your arms, thinking they could shield you from Dean scolding you.
“So, you have been dating a year?” you set your glance back to Sam.
“Give or take but yes” you confess biting your lower lip. Of course Sammy would bring it up, he was the one with best memory.
Suddenly the conversation turn more interesting for him than the possible fight development outside “A year?!” he exclaim turning around “you have been lying to us” pointing to Sam and himself “your own family” he imply indignant to your statement.
“I’m sorry ok” you snap “but you’re the reason why I lie in the first place!” you shout, raising a hand to stop him to continue “you like it or not, you would need to suck it up because he ask me to marry him and I said yes”
At the exact moment after Elijah and Rebekah walk outside the door, watching Klaus standing from the ground to then remove the stake groaning at the action and letting it fall to the ground.
He raised his sight to Elijah, giving him a devilish smirk “I most said brother, I like her” watching towards the house “she is fiercely and she suits you”
“Niklaus” he start but was interrupted.
“No need to explain” raising one of his hands to him “I see what you see in her, she can be an incredible ally or our worst enemy” he add looking directly at him “and because of that I’m warning-”
Elijah push him against the SUV before he could even finish his threat, pointing a finger to him, veins under his now darker eyes “No, I’m warning you Niklaus. No harm will come to her or her family in anyway, specially from you brother, other wise you would meet a different side of me”
He raised his hand in surrender mode, but still a cocky smile on his face “I like her even more, she brings the real Mikaelson in you¨

“I’m sorry ok” you snap “but you’re the reason why I lie in the first place!” you shout, raising a hand to stop him to continue “you like it or not, you would need to suck it up because he ask me to marry him and I said yes” the 3 vampires could hear from outside.
“I didn’t see any ring on her finger” Rebekah exclaim arms cross watching intense to his oldest brother “please tell me you give her a ring” watching him open his mouth to speak and close it back, rolling her eyes at his action “[Y/N], darling” she shout in direction to the home.
You step in the doorway without going out “Yes?” you answer shyly.
“Come with me darling, let’s pick you up an engagement ring” looking back to Elijah “so my brother can make a proper propose to you” she take you by the hand and pull you to Elijah’s car without allowing you to compliant.

The two sides were lined up like the soldiers in during war time way back in the day. You couldn’t see it, but you knew that your brothers face was upset and disappointed in you. He knew that the two of you were similar but, yet, so much more different than each other. There was nothing he could say or do to make you change your mind. He was wrong and you knew it. He was just too blind to see it.
“Really, Y/N, you too? You’re on the wrong side of the line, dear.” Your brother said shaking his head. “I thought you were smarter than this? Dad would be so disappointed in you.”
You couldn’t help but let out a fake laugh. “You’re right, Tony,” You gave him the look that you knew pierced through his mask. The look that many people have said to have been a look that Howard Stark gave, to make himself so intimidating. “I’m smart. I’m smart enough to make decisions for myself and darling, this one is the right one. And bringing Dad into this isn’t going to change anything. You Know that.”
“Is that what Cap told you?” Tony pressed. “That his way is right and mine wrong?”
From the corner of your eye, you saw Steve shift his feet around. “He didn’t have to,” your voice grew cold. The way it always did when you and Tony bickered. “I came to that conclusion myself.”
“Well, then, that’s make you a criminal like the rest of them,” Tony stepped back with both his hands up. “It’s not too late to change your mind, Y/N/N.”
You could hear it in his voice when Tony called you by the nickname he gave you when you were little. He was trying everything he could to get you to step out of this and join his side. He didn’t want to fight his little sister. You didn’t want to fight your brother.
But yet, here the two of you are.
“I’m sorry, Tony,” you pulled out your retractable bow staff and opened it.
“I’m sorry too,” Tony said.
“What do we do?” Scott asked Steve.
“We fight,” Steve answered starting to lead the way. “Y/N, make sure you guard Bucky. Everyone knows that if they hurt you too bad, Tony will not hesitate to return the favor. Doesn’t matter what side you’re on.”
“Got it Cap,” you said. You knew that Steve was right. Didn’t matter what side you were on, if someone on Tony’s side hurt you to the point that you were hospitalized or near death, he would not hesitate and return the favor. He was still your big brother after all. You had your differences and disagreements. The two of you wouldn’t let the other get seriously injured.
You guessed the new kid didn’t get that memo.
While both teams were fighting, you and Bucky were weaving in and out of the fighting. The new kid, who shot out webs and talked way too much, threw something very large at you. But Bucky tackled you out of the way. The kid came at you again but when you swung your bow staff at him, he caught it and tossed you off it a good ten feet away. You were sure that you were going to wake up sore in the morning. You stood up and then saw red surrounding the new kid who as tossed into a giant pile of boxes. Your bow staff breaking in half.
You nodded your head towards Wanda who nodded back. She ran back towards the fighting.
“You okay?” Bucky asked.
“I’m fine, let’s keep moving.”
The two of you weaved in and out of the fighting again until Steve caught up with you. The three of you crunched out of the line of fire. You looked back to see your friends fighting. One side to be regulated by the government despite what happened to SHEILD a few years back and to bring Bucky in for something he didn’t even do. The other side, to help you and Steve get Bucky to safety, because you, too, believed he was innocent.
“We’re not going to be able to get everyone to that jet,” You told Steve. “It’s going to be impossible with everything thing going on.”
“Some of us are going to have to loose this for us to win it,” Clint’s voice is heard in your coms.
You knew he was right. You hated it too. The three of you ran towards the hanger. A few tiny missiles whizzed passed you guys from above and hit the hanger. That didn’t stop you guys from running, Wanda managed to stop the debris from the building long enough for the three of you to slide right under it.
“He’s innocent, Nat,” Steve said.
You turned around to see Natasha, your best friend, who was almost like a sister to you, standing there. A firm and disappointed look in her face. Natasha rose up her arm and you knew what was coming. You were prepared to tackle the female Russian assassin. “I’m going to regret this,” she said and slightly moved her arm to the side and shot out a taser. It whizzed passed your head.
You looked to see that Natasha’s taser hit T’Challa. “Go,” she yelled and shot another at the Wankadan king. Making him hit the ground once again.
You guys board the quinjet. You strapped into the pilot seat and started to press all the buttons you need. Even disabling the tracker. Steve and Bucky strapped in and soon, you had the aircraft in the air and flew through whatever you could. Looking down at the airport below, you saw law enforcement showing up. You still knew that you made the right choice in taking Steve’s side.
While you flew to Serbia, Steve and Bucky talked. You drowned them out and thought about your brother. A brother you knew all to well. You’d be on his radar until he found you. Until he had Bucky in his clutches. Until you and Steve were behind bars. Unless something there was something that gave him a reason to stop looking. You just hoped that you can get the information you needed before that ever happened.
Bucky needed his name cleared.
“We should be coming up on the base here soon,” Bucky’s voice brought you back to reality.
You looked a head and saw a snow covered mountain. At first you didn’t see anything but after the fog lifted you saw what looked like a bunker. As you landed the aircraft, from the corner of your eye you saw Bucky’s body stiffen up. You could only imagine what was going through the super soldiers head.
“You got this, Bucky,” You turned to him once the quinjet was landed and secured.
Bucky gave a small smile before he and Steve left the aircraft.
Then you were alone.
With your thoughts.
Time passed slowly as you literally twirled around in the pilot chair. You thought about your only memories of your father, Howard. You were really young when he took you in after your mothers death. Gave you the Stark name and all but that didn’t stop people from calling you his bastard child from one of his flings. Even after his and Maria’s death. But Tony had put a stop to that when he was asked what he thought about having a bastard sister. Let’s just say that night, Tony almost ended the night in handcuffs.
Some movement made you stop turning in your chair. You squinted your eyes to getting a better look through the snow being blown around the wind. The movement seemed to be black and upon a clearer look you saw that it was the King of Wakanda himself.
You gathered whatever weapons you could find in the quinjet and ran outside. The cool brisk air hit your face and tingled your nose. You didn’t let that stop you, you slowly followed T’challa to the door.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you, Your Highness,” you snapped open one of Clint’s bows.
The Wakandan king turned around slowly. “And why is that?” The thick accent came out slow and firm. You didn’t want to go up against this man at all but you would if you had to.
“Barnes isn’t who you want,” You noticed your voice started to shake. “All the answers we are looking for, it’s in that building.”
“I’m sorry, but I have to do what I must do,” T’challa started to open the door.
You reached behind you and pulled out a random arrow. You loaded it on the bow string and shot it. Luckily, for you, it had been one of those electric arrows. It shocked the Wakandan king and he fell to the ground. “I’m sorry too,” you ran passed him and into the building.
You wandered around looking for Steve and Bucky. Abandoned or not, the place gave you the creeps. You didn’t want to think about what this place did to Bucky. Then you turned a corner and saw a huge contraption that looked like the thing that Steve and Bucky talked about.
That thing that shocked the shit out of Bucky when he was under Hydra control. Suddenly your heart fell a million feet when you thought about the constant pain Bucky had been put through.
“Poor Bucky,” you whispered as your hand touched the torture device. “I’m so sorry this happened to you.”
You moved on and began to hear voices. You slowly followed the voices until you found them. The voice that spoke had an accent. He talked about the Battle of Sokovia, a battle which almost took your life. Then he spoke about the Vienna bombing and how that was all his doing.
“I told you it wasn’t him,” you spoke as you approached the group. “But you didn’t believe me or trust me.”
Tony turned to you. “I know and I’m sorry.”
“Oh good, the whole family is here,” the strange voice said. “Now the show can really begin.”
There was soft click and hum somewhere in the room. Everyone looked around and spotted an old television set. You guys approached it and when the screen popped up of an old road, you heard Tony suck in his breath.
“I know that street,” he said.
You watch the events unfold on the screen before. Your father dying at the hand of Bucky. You shot a look at Bucky whose entire face had fallen. Your eyes shifted to Tony who looked like he was about to either snap or pass out. You turned to the tv and stopped the video.
“Tony,” you turned back him.
“Don’t you dare say anything,” Tony snapped at you.
“Tony,” Steve cut in.
“Give him to me, Rogers,” Tony’s mask flew back on and turned toward Bucky. You knew he meant business.
You jumped in front of your brother. Bow loaded with an arrow.  “Tony, no,” you rose your voice. “It wasn’t really him. He was brainwashed.”
“Stand aside, Y/N,” Tony started to fire up his suit.
“It wasn’t him,” you yelled as you rose the bow up and aim it at him.
“I don’t fucking care,” Tony yelled back. “He killed our parents. No move or so help me.”
You let the arrow go and it hit Tony’s armor and stuck to it. Before he even had time to grab it and toss it, the arrow exploded, sending Tony back into the television set.
“Go,” you told Bucky and Steve. “I’ll be able to hold him off.” You loaded another arrow and pointed it at your brother who slowly got up.
“Are you sure about that?’ Steve asked.
“He won’t hurt me too much,” you stayed focused on Tony who stood and stared at you. You could only imagine that thoughts of anger and surprise he had. “Just go!”
“You don’t want to do this, Y/N/N,” Tony held up his hand again. “You’re giving me absolutely no fucking choice.”
“Then don’t fucking make one,” you kept your weapon in place. “Drop all of this and let us go. No one has to get hurt anymore.”
Without warning or any other word said, Tony hit you. With what, you weren’t sure since he upgrades his suits whenever he’s bored. You flew back into something hard and smacked your head hard enough to put you out.
***
When you came to, your sight was fuzzy and your side was killing you. You were still in the old Hydra base so that was good, Tony hadn’t thought about taking you back. You looked down and as you saw a piece of metal poking out of your side. Biting your lip as hard as you could until you tasted blood, you pulled the metal out of your side.
You placed your hand over the wound to clot the small blood flow. You stood up and swayed some. It felt like your brain was rolling around in your head. Tony must have used some force and it pissed you off.
In the distance you heard the clanging around and yelling. You knew that Tony cornered Steve and Bucky. You followed the the sound and when you found them you saw Bucky on the ground. His metal arm blown off. Blood flood from his head and nose.
“Bucky,” you ran and slide over to him. You checked his pulse and pressed an ear to his chest. “Thank God,” you breathed when the soft sound of his heart reached your ear. “We’ll get you fixed you up.” You swore you saw a small smile on his face when you said that.
Then you looked up.
Steve had Tony in the air and threw him into a wall. You gasped and stood up only to fall to your knees when the pain in your side ran sharp through your body. Steve straddled Tony and grabbed his shield and started to hit his mask with the edge of it. The shield managed to break the mask. You saw fear in Tony’s face as Steve rose the shield once again.
“Steve, no!” You screamed as Steve brought the shield down. But it didn’t hit Tony’s face. It his the arc reactor in the suit. Making the suit shut down.
Steve looked back at you and got up. Pulling the shield out of Tony’s suit. Steve walked over to where you and Bucky were. He pulled Bucky up and looked at you. “Are you okay?” He asked softly.
You nodded as you stared at Tony. Tony stared back at you. His eyes on your bloodied hand that covered your wound. His shifted to Steve who started to walk away. “He gave you that shield,” he yelled. “You don’t deserve it.”
You turned to Steve, who stopped and drop the shield where he stood. You slowly and painfully got up and began to follow Steve you.
“Y/N!” Tony yelled after you. You turned to him. “You leave with them, you won’t have a home to come back to. You’d be forced to be on the run. A criminal. Dad would be embarrassed by your actions.”
You stared Tony in the eyes. “No, Tony,” your voice firm and full of anger. “Dad would be embarrassed by you.”
You turned on your heel and walked away with tears threatening your eyes.

Tumblr media
“Zuzu, you don’t look so good!”
The last Agni Kai. It was a day that was forever branded into your mind. You could still remember the heat of her flames. How her patient, strategic mind slipped into a rash and impulsive demeanor. She’d fataly wounded her own brother. Ready to do the same to Katara, if she hadn’t stopped her. And that was when you’d found her. Chained to a grid on the floor like an animal, crying in despair and spitting fire like a dragon. Nobody dared to go near her for hours. Nobody but you. “You need to stop, Azula,” You’d cried tears of your own as you forcefully hugged her, body winding against yours. Still trying to free herself. Still trying to fight. Still trying to win. “Please... I’m begging you...” Her whimper broke your heart. You were all that she had left.
There were times when not even a heartfelt “I love you,” could save her. Instead it was interpreted as a further manipulation through her mother. The so called ‘Puppetmaster’. She felt so far out of reach.
But not all days were bad. Sometimes Azula remembered. In the bright hours she recalled your supportive actions and words. You always hoped they would give her some kind of strength. And it wasn’t any easier to face those hardships yourself. To love someone who was hurt so very deeply.
“Being damaged doesn’t give you the right to abuse others,”
A lot of people called her crazy. Called you crazy for feeling affection towards the princess. But what were you supposed to do? You couldn’t just ignore them. Or turn them off. It wasn’t possible. It wasn’t what you wanted. All you were trying to do was to care for a person you’d known since you were a kid. A childhood friend, teenage crush and an adult lover. Where Zuko had been saved by Iroh, Azula had been saved by you. But it wasn’t quite the same. You'd just been a little kid yourself at the time.
“Are you going to see Azula?” You nodded, smiling at Zuko over your shoulder. The robes of the Fire Lord really suited him. “I am. I want to surprise her with a picnic,” He raised a brow, curiously leaning over the little basket on the table before you. You’d spent hours picking out different kinds of tarts and snacks, trying not to get in the way of the cooks.
It was a perfect summer day. The climate was warm and mild. Your timing couldn’t have been better.
Years had passed since Sozin’s Comet occured. Years full of anxiety and anger. But finally you’d arrived in a part of your life, where things were looking up again. The time spend supporting Zuko as the Fire Lord hadn’t been wasted. Both of you worked together on a daily basis. Especially when it came to his sister. Despite everything she had done, he couldn’t deny that he held a soft spot for her. So it was no wonder that she resided in one of the finest suites of the palace. After being monitored and treated for ages, her mental heatlh finally regained stability.
“She’s lucky to have you, (Y/N),” He said, attempting to steal one of the tarts only to earn a slap on the hand. Grumbling he retreated, watching as you checked the contents again, before closing the lid. “Maybe,” You turned around to face your friend. “But i’d like to think we’re equally lucky,”
Your picnic was set up in the gardens, by the fountain, under the old apple tree.
Her whole life Azula only gained approval from two people. Her father and you. The few moments of empathy she experienced were supported by you. If she had a nightmare late at night, you’d crawl into bed with her. When you reduced the choice between you two to physical affection, Ozai couldn’t keep up with you. The mixed messages her parents gave her as a child were what lead her into misery. But her best friend, someone of the same age, stuck by her.
Eventually you’d won her over. Relationships were rekindled. Needs were met.
And right this moment, you were beyond glad that you had. “There you are, sugarplum,” An involuntary grin spread on your face. You’d been so busy with displaying everything perfectly that you hadn’t heard her come up behind you. “I see you haven’t grown tired of the petnames,” That nickname would truly stick with you for life. She’d once used it mockingly, back when you visited Ember Island. And she did ever since. It was always used with an edge of sarcasm, but never empty of love.
“You wouldn’t have it any other way, would you (Y/N)?” You turned around to her, reaching for one of her hands. Her fingers intwined themselves with yours. “Of course not, Azula,” Pulling her towards your little arrangement, you sat down on the blanket, leaning against the strong stem of the tree and patting the spot beside you.
Since her recovery she’d formed a habit of over-sharing her feelings and often apologizing more than nessecary. Those were new sides that you had to grow accustomed to, but that weren’t unwelcome. Nevertheless you were relieved that she also kept some of her wit. She knew she could be free with you. Didn’t need to fear any jugdement. Some days were harder than others. On those Azula would cry a lot. And so would you. You couldn’t stand seeing her so broken.
“Keep it together, (Y/N),” She would say at first, making you laugh through your tears. “It’s okay,” You’d reassure her time and time again. “Healing takes time,”
It was hard to face all those bottled up emotions after such an amout of time. It wasn’t her favorite way to deal with things at first, but she quickly found it helped. And it didn’t take long for her to tell you.
“Sharing your tears doesn’t make you weak,” She’d repeat your words in her darkest times. It brought her comfort. Kept her from going back to her old ways.
The princess moved to sit in the spot next to you, but she never made it that far. Small feet rushed through the grass, running straight into her legs. A tiny, little person curled around them, hugging her as far as she could reach. “Zula!” They squeaked.
The so-called ‘Zula’ raised a brow and crossed her arms, looking down at the little troublemaker. “What do you think you’re doing here?” The girl only lifted her hands in response. You stiffled a smile as Azula picked her up. “Where is your father? Didn’t he want to spend time with you?” Yes he did. And he arrived right on time. “Izumi?” Zuko looked around, searching for her, until he spotted you. The princess was snuggling into her aunt’s chest, a place that always felt warm. You knew it best. “There you are!” His sister raised a brow, tapping her foot on the ground, when he walked up to the three of you. When they stood next to each other, the family-resemblance was undeniable. They shared the same shade of amber eyes, the soft umber strands, and the fair, spotless skin.
It was another person that had helped Azula on her journey. Izumi.
The girl got to experience the childhood the siblings never had. She was proof that princesses didn’t have to be perfect all the time. Nobody did. And she loved her aunt without any doubt or fear.
“You really need to keep better watch on her, Zuzu. This is already the fifth time this has happened,” The Fire Lord nodded, holding his hands out. “Of course. It won’t happen again, i promise,” Azula tried handing her niece over, who whined, clinging to her neck. “But i mean, now that we’re already here, we could also just join you on your picnic,” He argued, pointing to his daughter who held onto Azula’s clothes with all her might. “Izumi seems to like the idea,” You squinted your eyes at him. This was definetely not a coincedence. Accidents don’t repeat themselves that often. “Admit it, Zuko. You’ve purposefully told Izumi that her aunt is here, only so you could get your clutches on our food again!” You’d connected the dots and read the situation. He’d taken a glimpse into your basket every time before you went out the past times. Particular interest always occured when it contained those delicous fruit tarts. With rose pedals on top. He gasped. “No, i didn’t!”
“He’s lying,” Azula said, rolling her eyes. Izumi proceeded to tell her father that “Lying is bad!” which earned her a gentle pat on the head from her aunt.
Nevertheless they swayed you to share some of the ‘goodies’ as Izumi liked to call them. Finally you had Azula were she belonged. Next to you. Her niece sat in her lap, munching happily as your lover ran her hand through her hair. It had taken some time until she’d been allowed to see Izumi at first. Zuko and her mother hadn’t let them meet each other until his sister was completely stabile. Additionally he didn’t want to put Azula through something she couldn’t handle at the time. Their first meeting had been nervewracking for everyone who watched, but an eye-opening event for the two princesses. They seemed comfortable. Content with each other. Sometimes Azula would act as if Izumi bothered her. But she couldn’t deny that she was fond of the girl.
It was also no secret that Azula was clearly the ‘coolest aunt’. At least from Izumi’s perspective. She looked up to her as the strongest female firebender, to be known. Of course she was still too young to fight. But that didn’t stop her from constantly begging the siblings for stories. “Can you tell me a story?” She’d ask, making a pout. “I’ve told you stories countless times,” Her aunt replied, booping her upturned nose. “Another one, pleeease?” Azula sighed. Zuko chimed in, coming to her aid. He started telling the tale of the ‘Dance of Dragons’ in great detail, paying no mind to his sisters sarcastic comments interrupting the tale. Izumi was exstatic about both of them engaging in the narrative. When the story was completed, he beamed at Azula. “Remember when mother used to take us to watch the Ember Island Players perform this play? Afterwards you and i would reenact every scene. I don’t get why i always had to be the dark water spirit, tough,” His sister scoffed, not hiding her gleefull smirk. “Clearly, i made a better dragon emperor,” Her niece laughed at their antics, clapping her little hands. You could comprehend her joy. It was hilarious to have them both participate.
Unfortunatly, Izumi couldn’t escape her duties forever. “Bye, auntie Zula! Bye auntie (Y/N)!” She waved when Zuko carried her back inside. Upon her loopsided smile, Azula couldn’t help but grin, waving back. It wasn’t a sneer or a grimace. It was a genuine expression of so much beauty, that it took your breath away. When she turned back to face you, she furrowed her brows. “Why are you looking at me like that?” There were a ton of reasons. You didn’t even know were to start. So your delight had to be expressed differently. Her lips weren’t far from yours. It took a mere second to connect them. They were soft, as always. She tasted sweet, like the pastries she’d eaten before. “You’re my everything,” you mumbled, her lips still brushing yours. You see her eyes watering as she struggled to speak her next words. They reminded her of all that she’d endured. And yet you’re important enough for her to pull through. “I love you, (Y/N),”
A moment later the tears were replaced by a smile. Her hands came to rest on your cheeks, one of her thumbs running over your bottom lip, removing the lipstick hers had left. You yelped as she abruptly grabbed your shoulders, pulling you to rest your head in her lap.
She worked to untangle your locks, massaging your scalp in the process. Her nails lightly scraped your skin every so often. It felt relaxing. Heavenly. The smell of smoke and leather teased your senses. Something so familiar that it was like home. You allowed yourself to close your eyes for a moment, being at peace with just... feeling her. Being in her presence.
“Agni, you look just as self satisfied as my niece,” She playfully remarked.
The slight breeze made the leaves rustle softly. “Why wouldn’t i?” You chuckled, slowly opening your eyes to look up at her. Her slim fingers hadn’t stopped spoiling you. She looked stunning in the midday sun. Her eyes glowed like molten gold, framed by long, dark lashes, casting shadows on her cheeks. “I’m being pampered by the princess herself. I consider myself to be very lucky,” Her lips pulled into a smile as she caught your gaze.
“You’re right, (Y/N). We are lucky,”
Because everything you did for her, she would return tenfold.
Despite all the hardships, neglect and abuse she’d suffered, Azula had managed to get out on the other side.
Stronger, and better than ever.
Reconnected to the world around her, she remained one of the most powerful fire benders. Her blue flames offering protection wherever you’d go.
When she’d first felt affection towards you, she thought you were her weakness.
Now she knew you were her strength.

Gauche sighed softly as he walked out of the bedroom he, Grey, and Aloys had dropped Maelie off in. The young girl was fast asleep, and hopefully she would stay that way for a while. Aloys decided he was going to sit and wait for her to wake up so he could explain what was going on. Grey and Gauche agreed and decided to leave the siblings for now.
The two walked out of the hallway and were greeted with several eyes staring at them, Grey let out a small yelp and quickly hid behind Gauche. He shook his head, he didn’t think she’d ever get over her shyness at this point, but he didn’t mind too much. He walked towards the group and could feel Grey had a firm grip on the back of his shirt as they walked.
“ How’s the kid?” Yami asked as he stood up and walked over to the couches and sat down, Gauche did the same and a few of the others came and sat in the common room as well.
“ Which one?” Gauche asked as he crossed his arms. “ Aloys is fine, relieved that he found his sister and that she’s safe. As for Maelie, she appears to be ok, but she hasn’t woken up yet.” He shrugged.
“ W-We found her in the center of the Northern Woods,” Grey stammered as she kept her face partially hidden behind her hands, Yami frowned.
“ I thought her brother said they landed in the East woods.” Yami crossed his arms as he leaned back on the couch, Charlotte walked over and sat down next to him as Gauche shook his head.
“ No, the brat assumed she landed with him in the East woods.” Gauche muttered as he unfolded his arms and rested one at his side while the other moved to rest behind Grey. Whether it was a conscious placement no one knew, but it did seem to give Grey a little comfort as she moved her hands further down her face so she could see everyone a bit more.
“ So how did you manage to find her?” Charlotte asked curiously, the brunette looked over at the blue haired woman sitting next to him, he watched her face turn a bright shade of red as she looked away from Captain Roselei.
“ W-Well, Gauche and I talked about how we pretty much looked through all of the East woods, and so we decided to l-look around the other woods that surrounded the Capitol. We were going counter-clockwise which was why we went to the North Woods first, a-and Maelie was in the center of it just like Aloys was in the East Woods.” Grey said fairly quickly as she felt her face burn with embarrassment even more.
“ There was a circle of trees almost identical to the ones where Aloys said he woke up, and that's where we found her. The kid hasn’t woken up since we found her, so we aren’t sure if she’s exhausted or if somethings wrong with her.” Gauche shrugged when Nebra suddenly let out a small chuckle.
“ Or she could be like the Coral Peacocks Captain and just sleep all the time.” Nebra suggested as another chuckle escaped her lips.
“ Maelie isn’t like that,” Hikari jumped in suddenly, causing everyone to look over and her and Alistair, both were still standing by the door as the other kids continued to eat at the dining table. “ she’s a pretty active 9 year old, although she can be pretty shy sometimes, but she doesn’t ‘sleep’ all the time or anything.” Hikari explained as she came over and leaned forward on the back of the couch between Yami and Charlotte.
“ If I were to guess,” Alistar chimed in as he placed a hand under his chin in thought. “ Maybe the younger you are, and the less mana you have, the more exhausting the trip is?” He added thoughtfully. The others shrugged or nodded in agreement, that seemed the most logical conclusion. Yami noticed Zora was eyeing Alistair suspiciously and he frowned.
“ Something on your mind Zora?” He asked, Zora blinked a bit, apparently he didn’t realize he had been staring at the white haired boy for quite some time. Zora looked away with a small smirk.
“ Quite a few things on my mind actually Captain, obviously the first of them being all these kids and how many more we can expect.” Zora shrugged before his smirk turned into a knowing one. “ But I have a feeling someone in this room already knows all the answers to those questions.” He looked pointedly at Alistar.
Alistar just smiled warmly at Zora and appeared to ignore the insinuation. ‘feigning innocence eh? I gotta admit, that cool facade you have is very impressive, I didn’t even see him flinch.’ Zora crossed his arms and leaned back against the wall.
“ Are you accusing Alistar of something Zora?” William asked as he came to his son's defense, Zora shrugged innocently.
“ I’m not accusing him of anything,” Zora suddenly got a wicked thought in his head and chuckled a bit. “ Well actually, I am accusing your son of something; I’m accusing him of fooling around with Captain Yami’s daughter.”
You could hear a pin drop at the bombshell Zora dropped onto the small group. The kids at the table stopped eating, the adults eyes were wide and shocked, Hikari was frozen in place as she stared at Zora, and Alistar, well, his reaction wasn’t exactly what Zora was expecting. The white haired boy paled considerably, but his smile stayed in place, he watched as Alistar’s blue eyes looked over at Hikari and her family.
“ I don’t know what you’re talking about, Hikari and I are just friends and colleagues. Nothing more.” Alistar said firmly, the red haired man's eyebrows shot up in surprise, he was expecting to see at least nervousness in the boy's eyes, but there was nothing.
“ It’s true, we’re just friends.” Hikari agreed with a nod, Alistar almost flinched, whenever Hikari called them ‘friends’ it always sent a sharp pain through his chest, but he pushed it aside as Zora scoffed.
“ Then why did I see him,” he pointed at Alistair. “ leaving your room the other night?” He asked with a raised eyebrow and for a split second he saw the cool exterior of Alistar Vangeance crack. Alistar paled a bit more and his eyes widened in surprise before his head snapped over to Yami’s direction.
You could feel the anger and protectiveness oozing off of the Black Bulls Captain at this point; Yami was beyond furious, Alistar was fooling around with Hikari? Nope. No way was that going to fly! Yami instantly jumped off the couch and grabbed Alistar by his head forcefully.
“ Who the hell do you think you are? Thinking you can fool around with my daughter?!” He shouted and quickly, chaos ensued.
William, Hikari, and Charlotte were trying to get Yami to let Alistar go, while the poor boy was desperately begging for Yami to listen and that it was all just one big misunderstanding.
“ S-Shouldn’t we stop them?” Grey asked Gauche nervously, the brunette shook his head as he crossed his arms.
“ No, just let them kill each other and be done with it.” Gauche shrugged, he was more than happy to let them all fight it out, especially since he knew his Captain would win.
“ Gauche,” Grey started softly, he almost didn’t hear her, but he raised an eyebrow to let her know he heard her and for her to continue. “ are you mad about Aloys and Maelie?”
Gauche paused for a minute at her question, when he looked away from the fighting and saw her face he noticed she seemed sad, or like she had done something wrong. He shook his head and sighed softly.
“ Well, I’m not exactly happy about them,” he told her honestly, he watched the blue haired woman flinch at his words but he placed a gentle hand on top of her head. “ but no, I’m not mad about Aloys and Maelie. So stop worrying, alright?” He told her softly, he felt Grey nod quickly before someone cleared their throat.
“ Um, what’s going on?” Aloys asked in a confused tone, causing everyone to stop and look at him and who was behind him.
A little girl with short dark blue-brown hair stood behind Aloys’s leg as she watched them, she had big brown eyes, and wore a blue and white dress. She looked over at the couch and saw her ‘parents’ and smiled brightly, Gauche blinked a couple of times; instead of looking like him and Grey like Aloys did, she looked like Marie and Grey. It was strange, but her smile was almost the exact same as Marie’s.
“ She looks like your sister but with blue hair.” Yami said suddenly as he dropped the white haired boy, Alistar groaned as he held his head. Hikari quickly moved and stood between him and her ‘father’. Yami turned to look back at his daughter and William’s son.
“ I’m his bodyguard, and as long as I’m around you can’t hurt him, and if you try too, you’ll have to go through me.” Hikari announced firmly, her eyes meeting her ‘fathers’. The two Sukehiro’s stood there staring at each other, as though seeing who would back down first.
“ I think it's too late for that Hikari.” Alistar grumbled as he rubbed his head, Hikari rolled her eyes at her friend's words but ignored them for now and continued to stare at her father.
“ That’s enough you two,” Charlotte announced as she came to stand between them. “ We can discuss this another time. But for now let’s just finish eating.” Charlotte suggested. Hikari nodded, grabbed Alistar by the hand, and drug him towards the dining table to eat.
“ C-Can you guys,” Maelie started, her voice so quiet you could barely hear her. “ Can you guys, s-stop yelling and arguing please, i-it scares me.” She asked them. Gauche felt his heart melt instantly, she was absolutely adorable. He smiled softly at her and nodded.
“ Of course angel. I’ll make sure no one fights around you so that way you don’t get scared.” Gauche told her kindly and Grey had to suppress a smile at his actions. He was treating Maelie just like he treated Marie and, sometimes, herself. He was much kinder and more gentle with her then he was with Aloys. Maelie smiled shyly at her ‘father’ but you could see the happiness in her eyes as Aloys sighed.
“ C’mon let’s eat.” He guided his sister towards the dining table and pulled out a chair for her to sit down.
Charlotte smiled a bit as she watched all the kids laugh and eat at the dining table, it was like they were a small family. She looked over at Yami and shook her head as she saw he was still glaring at Alistar.
“ You’ve really stepped into the ‘protective father’ role haven’t you?” Charlotte chuckled softly, Yami turned to look at her and he rubbed the back of his head nervously.
“ I’m just trying to look out for her is all, I don’t need some idiot kid trying to take advantage of her.” Yami grumbled, Charlotte shook her head.
“ I don’t think Alistar would take advantage of Hikari, and besides I think she would put him in his place if he ever tried.” Charlotte told him, Yami nodded in agreement, Hikari did seem like the type who would let people push her around.
“ You seem to have stepped into the ‘caring mother’ role pretty easily.” Yami commented with a smirk, Charlotte blinked at him as she blushed faintly.
“ I-I wouldn’t call it that, I’m just trying to get to know her is all.” Charlotte tried to cover up, but Yami saw right through that excuse.
“ Right,” Yami said with a roll of his eyes, but he let it go for now. It seems they both have stepped into their parental roles without even meaning too.
“ Do you think Maelie is the last one?” Charlotte asked suddenly as they had taken a moment to watch the kids, along with the other adults who had moved to the dining table, all talk and laugh and just hang out together. It was a nice scene, especially considering what everyone had gone through with the Spade Kingdom recently.
“ I hope so,” Yami said with a sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “ and if not then the next kids had better not be from my squad. It’s another squad's turn to have a bunch of kids come from the future and stir things up for them.” He grumbled as he walked towards the table as well. Charlotte laughed softly before following behind him.
Luckily for Yami, his wish would be granted.

Doodlewash April 2021 prompt 11: Telephone
Tangentially related because communication.
I mention a character named Meri, that’s the name of LDShadowLady’s IRL dog, for the purposes of this storyline, Meri is her child.
If anyone wants to be part of a taglist of this Vigilante AU, feel free to message me/send an ask/or mention it in reblogs.
--------------------------
5up finished up his last class of the day. He dropped his school things off in his bedroom. He grabbed his bright pink leather jacket faded from use and changed from dress pants into a worn pair of black jeans. The white masquerade mask with a leaf motif was taken from its place in the back of his closet and slipped it in the inner pocket of his jacket.
5up’s father may hate vigilantes with a passion, but the guy in charge of the security for their apartment was a fan. 5up’s father thought that vigilantes were a danger to society and that people just trust the system rather than some self-proclaimed public service helper. Another fact was that 5up’s father was too rich for crime against him to be worth it, and when things did happen to him, he could call up Hero HQ and let his reputation carry the weight necessary to get a hero rather quickly. But the people in the ground didn’t have that luxury, so even though 5up’s father asked for a report on what his son does, the security guys doesn’t only fail to mention the whole vigilante thing, he also loops the camera feed in case the man comes to take a look for himself.
5up chuckled sardonically. Who was he kidding? His father wouldn’t call Hero HQ; he goes to a kidnapped child ring to bet on the outcomes once a week.
5up decided that he should go get Elaina and DK on board first. xChocobars might need a little more time to process before agreeing.
5up dashed down the City sewer system. He threw down his skateboard and rolled through the tunnels to District 87. It was surprising how it was faster to get from his apartment complex in District 67 to the Sweet Shoppe and Bakery in District 87 by skateboarding through the sewers than catching the city bus.
5up rolled the skateboard to a stop below the grate in the back alley of the Sweet Shoppe & Bakery. 5up took the guitar strap out of his jacket pocket and attached it to the skateboard then tossed it over his shoulder. He climbed up the ladder and popped up in the back alley.
It was surprising that the stench from the sewers didn’t permeate into his clothing.
He slipped around and walked in the front door. “I’m back Niki and I’d like to buy a dozen cupcakes.”
“Hello 5up, and what brings you back down here?” She knew 5up’s order; he just wanted a random selection.
“I need to have a chat with Elaina Exe.”
“Elaina? Not Eret?” Niki asked conversationally.
5up shrugged. “You know how it is sometimes. Would you have an idea where she is right now?”
“She works at The Golden Bloom after school. This’ll be $27.”
“Thanks.” 5up pays in cash. “Where is that?”
“Just outside, turn left, cross three times, turn right, cross twice more, turn right and it’s the shop on the corner.”
“Thanks.”
5up opens the box and eats a cupcake as he follows Niki’s directions to The Golden Bloom.
- - -
Elaina is helping a customer in the succulent section of The Garden Bloom when the wind chimes over the door ring. She glances to the newcomer out of the corner of her eye; 5up. She smiles a little strained at the customer, and starts to speed up the process.
5up raises a hand in greeting and starts to skim the yellow flower section.
Elaina gets her other costumer paid and out the door. She walks over to 5up. “Alstroemeria,” she says approvingly.
“And in English?”
“Lily of the Incas.”
“Nice. Will they work as friendship flowers?”
“So you wanted friendship?” Elaina jokes. “I was going to ask if you had your eye on someone.”
“No. Just need to soften the blow of information.”
“Oh?”
“Stuff. Will we be eavesdropped on here?”
“No.”
5up nodded. “Could I have some of these?” He took out a cupcake and offered it to Elaina.
She snatched it. “Lemme finish this first. What did you want to talk about?”
“I was wondering if there were any children that had gone missing within the last couple of months.”
Elaina’s hands paused in the flowers. “Why?” Her head dropped forward and she laughed. “That sounded defensive.”
“No no don’t worry about it. Hafu found something and I was wondering how wide spread the problem was.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah. One of those situations.”
Elaina’s hands found their movement and she sifted to find the best flowers and pulled them out. “A dozen?”
“Yes please.”
“Lizzie’s daughter Meri went missing three months ago. But that’s all I’ve heard.”
“So yes?”
“Yeah.” Elaina beckoned him over to the counter. “Why?”
“I might know where she is.”
“Really? Where?”
“Hafu found a child fighting ring in her patrol section. My father invited me to it, saw someone who’d gone missing seven months back.”
“Child fighting ring?”
“Illegal. Obviously. It’s a betting thing.”
“Have I ever told you that your father is a bad person?”
“Not you specifically, but I have been told that.”
“Good. Don’t be like him.”
“I won’t. That doesn’t sound fun.”
“No.” Elaina shook her head and laughed. “$25.” She wrapped the bundle in paper while 5up fished out the cash. “Is there anything else I can do for you?”
“Would you be willing to come to Hafu’s tomorrow at 9pm to advice us on how to proceed?”
“Me? Me? You don’t want Eret for that? Illegal children fighting ring of kidnapped kids sounds like an Eret thing.”
“It also sounds like a file report to Hero HQ.”
“Uhm…. Yeah?”
“Hafu and I estimated 200 children, you remember the School Exploder.”
Elaina smiled fondly. “I had a test postponed because of that.”
“Exe.”
“Right right. Yeah. Hero HQ isn’t going to be quick or efficient enough.”
“They would be, but more than one hero is gonna need to work together,” 5up trailed off.
“If there were a hundred then we could trust SBI to do it,” Elaina continued his thought process. “But there are too many kids for just of three of them.”
“And we don’t know how many criminals there are to round up.”
Elaina dropped her head in her hands. “So I’m the second best option.”
“Don’t say it like that.”
“Captain Sparklez hero knowledge would be invaluable, but Eret is a little too close for this project.”
5up nodded sagely, finally picking up his flowers. “Hafu’s, 9pm tomorror?”
“I’ll be there.”
The door chimed.
“One second.” She turned back to 5up. “I’ll see you around.”
“Wait until we have a game plan before you tell Eret.”
“Yeah. Yeah.”
- - -
5up was rolling down the sewers to DK’s Dojo up in District 37; he had his mask donned; cupcake box in one hand; and flowers for xChocobars in the other.
It was really nice that DK had an elevator directly to the sewers, it was so nice not having to climb up a ladder with all the stuff he had to carry.
5up drifted from the elevator to the front desk. “Hi, is Dakotaz in?”
The receptionist didn’t look up from their screen. “No.”
5up placed a cupcake on the counted. “Ahem.”
The receptionist looked up.
“And what about for me?”
They noticed the jacket and white leaf mask and started apologizing,. “I’m so sorry 5up, I thought you were literally anyone else. Yeah. DK’s sparing with Dumbdog in his private room.”
“No worries. Thanks.”
5up swiveled his board around and propelled himself to the back room.
“Cupcakes!”
“Well if it isn’t Mr. Rich Boy.”
“Cupcakes?”Dumbdog took DK out of the headlock and leaped over. “Yes. Oh my goodness. The Sweet Shoppe and Bakery makes the best cupcakes.”
“Geez Dog, have some class.” DK picks himself off the ground. “Yo bro? Can I have one?”
5up handed one of DumbDog and held out another for DK. “Are you busy tomorrow?”
“No why?”
“Think you have time to stop by Hafu’s at 9pm tomorrow to discuss something?”
“Yeah sure. What’s up?”
“We found some missing children and need a munitions expert.”
DumbDog raised his cupcake in toast to DK. “Do you need me?”
5up turned it over in his head. “If you’re available.”
- - -
xChocobars was sitting on the roof of a building keeping watch of the streets below. There was a meeting between the City’s two biggest gangs. They always met up in this square of District 66.
She saw other vigilantes of the roof around the square and a little ways down the road where the cars were sitting. Someone dropped next to her. “Cupcake.”
“Of course.”
The leaders shook hands and headed their separate ways. xChocobars kept watch as the gang members and other vigilantes disappeared into the shadows back to their home districts. “Hello 5up.” Flowers were thrust into her hands. “Oh?”
“I found your twin sister.”
xChocobars eyes hardened behind her mask. “Oh?”
“We can’t go in guns blazing though.”
She gestured to the flowers. “I figured.”
“She’s ‘fine.’ Not really.”
“Oh?”
“Let’s just say that there are other people who got shorter sticks.”
“Stop softening the blow.”
“Your sister’s kidnappers are forcing her to fight and people like my father bet on the outcome.”
xChocobars dropped flowers. They fell soundlessly into her lap. “Oh?”
“She was one of the less bruised and was winning.”
“Good for her,” xChocobars said. “Bad for others.”
“Bad for others,” 5up agreed. “We’re going to Hafu’s 9pm tomorrow to plan an escape.”
“Good. I’ll be there.”
“Good.”
“Go home 5up.”
“Yes Ma’am.”
- - -
“Hello Hafu.”
Hafu startled from where she was sitting on her fire escape. “Hello 5up.”
“I have six cupcakes left.”
“Oooh. Gimme.”
“So what’s the plan for tomorrow? I told people to come at 9pm.”
“We’ll talk over dinner about how to approach this.”
“Mhm. You, me, Elaina, DK, DumbDog, and xChocobars.”
“Good team. We’ll need to expand.” Hafu popped a cupcake in her mouth. “Think you can do some recon?”
“Yeah. I’m sure my father would love to spend some time with me.”

Sebastian sat by the kitchen table. His brown hair was sticking out everywhere just like it almost always was these days, and his beard was getting a little to the longer side. You had to admit you found it kinda cute, even when Isabella, your oldest daughter, teased him and said he looked like a woodland troll. It was all done in love and she just wanted her dad to chase her around the living room anyway, since it always ended in a cuddling session after he caught her and tickled her until she yielded. Isabella was and always had been a daddy’s girl and you loved seeing them together. Even in playful competition like right now.
“Are we live?” Sebastian asked, causing you to nod and fight a smile when he frowned, staring straight into the camera. Sebastian was great at a lot of things, social media and technology wasn’t one of them.
“You sure honey? Cause…” he started, making you giggle behind the camera and shake your head at him.
“Seba. Sweetheart. Love of my life. It’s not instagram that’s anything wrong with. I know how to livestream. It always fails for you because you are luddite,” you teased and winked, making Sebastian glare at you and fight a smile.
“You’re lucky, your cute ass is all the way over there,” he fake grumbled at you, as Alex tugged his sleeve to make him move his arm, allowing the little boy to crawl into his father’s lap. He had been watching his little sister asleep in the portable crib by the table, but lost interest in favor of his father and older sister’s shenanigans.
“Daddy come ooooon,” Isa whined. “How do I win the 10 dollars?”
You smiled as you watched your oldest daughter pout at her father, fully recognizing the technique from yourself and knowing no matter which one of his girls it came from it worked wonders on him.
“Okay. Right,” Sebastian’s attention turned to the table and the little girl in front of him. He pressed a quick kiss to the side of his son’s head as he reached past him.
“You have to keep really still okay, maimuţă?” Sebastian told the little boy, who was sucking on his thumb looking at his sister. He sent her a big smile before looking up at his father with the same beaming smile.
“Kay Daddy.”
Sebastian smiled back at him, ruffling his hair. “Good boy.”
“Okay Isa,” Sebastian grinned as his eyes met his daughters. “I’m gonna put the 10 dollers here.” Sebastian placed the bill on the table, before grabbing an empty soda bottle off the side of the table placing it on the middle of it.
“Are you listening?” Sebastian teased Isabella, causing the little girl to playfully roll her eyes at him and send her dad a huge grin.
“Yes Daddy. You don’t have to be so slow.”
“Cheeky,” Sebastian pulled a face at her, making Isabella laugh before leaning on the table, resting her elbows against it and her head on her hands as she looked from the bottle to her dad.
“Now what?”
“If you can get the bill without touching or knocking over the bottle you’ll get money. If you can’t I’ll keep it,” Sebastian challenged her with a smile.
Isabella instantly stood up straight, crossing her arms across her chest, looking like a very small, very stubborn teenage girl and you felt a pinch of dread for days ahead as you stayed quiet behind your camera phone.
“I don’t wanna do that. You’re cheating,” she sulked and Sebastian’s eyes opened wide. You knew he never would try and cheat any of his kids, and he hated that she even suggested that he would.
“What? No. I wouldn’t do that,” Sebastian insisted, but Isabella just continued to pout. Sebastian stared back at her, surprise and hurt evident on his face. He had not expected this reaction in the slightest. “How would I even be cheating?”
“You glued the bottle to the bill,” Isabella insisted, as she uncrossed her arms shifting slightly towards the table, making you smile behind the phone as you started to catch on. Sebastian however was still completely in the dark, not seeing through her little game, as he still hadn’t gotten over his hurt feelings, that his little girl would accuse him of trying to cheat her.
“No I didn’t. See,” Sebastian played right into Isabella’s sqeams and lifted the bottle from the bill. The little girl moved quickly, snatching the bill from the table, before playfully sticking her tongue out at her dad and fleeing the room as fast as she could. Alex jumped off his father’s lap, cheering and chasing his older sister, leaving a very confused looking Sebastian sitting alone in front of the camera, looking at the empty table.
You could no longer hold back your laughter as you turned around the phone to look into the camera with a grin before ending the live stream.
“Isa 1 - Daddy 0,” you announced, laughing as Sebastian groaned in the background.

Summary: An experimental fic for @chibi-mushroom‘s Dragon Age AU for the Kingdom Hearts series. Exploring a HumorousHawke!Xion, sedatephobia, mild trauma, bunny children infiltration, and hope. Mild spoilers for after Act 2 of Dragon Age 2. I want to apologize now for how easily startled Xion is, it’s not intentional. ^^;
Rating: K+
Word Count: 2,978 words
If you liked this story, please reblog!
---
The estate was just too quiet. Of course, anything would seem quiet after the Qunari uprising. A few months after, and life at Kirkwall was back to its usual chaos. And yet, Xion found herself staying at home away from the business of the city. Even more so, it gave her time to think about a lot of things.
The Qun. Her mother. Her siblings. The Fifth Blight. Events and experiences that have passed but still insisted on festering in the darkest part of her mind. Was it all her fault? Did she make any good choices in the past five years?
Silence made it worse. Silence made Xion want to hide in a corner, cover her ears, and scream ‘you can’t find me’ like when she was a child. She couldn’t keep doing this. Today she’d go for a walk. Not a long one, but long enough to redirect her thoughts. At first, just getting out of the house had been the harder part. After that, she just followed her feet. Her mind was numb to her surroundings as she walked. It wasn’t until she reached the edge of Kirkwall  -to where the walls surrounding met the outside leading into the Free Marches- that she stopped.
Run.
Run as fast as you can and never turn back.
Xion shook her head. No, there were still things in Kirkwall that needed to be sorted out. She was the city’s champion, after all. She had to stay. If not for the city, then for what family she did have left. Her uncle was debatable, but Cloud? Cloud was… safe. Safer where he was than in being here with her.
But she didn’t want to stay. She wanted to get away from this draining city before it ate her up alive. No, she'd rather die than stay to help the people here. They didn’t need her. Knight-Commander Sephiroth was doing a decent job at keeping peace. Kirkwall didn’t need a champion. It did not need her. If anything, things would probably be a lot more peaceful if she just-!
The sound of a small squeak caught her attention. Blinking (and quickly wiping away a tear from the corner of her eye), Xion looked around for the source of the squeak. She looked down to give a jolt of bewilderment. There, almost at her feet, was a small blue rabbit. The blue creature looked back up at her with wide, almost completely black eyes. Despite its odd appearance (and Xion’s own questioning if it was mortal or not), it didn’t seem to be much of a foe. It just looked at her with its big eyes and wide smile. Nothing else of real note beyond that, really. When it finally decided to bound away from her, Xion jumped back in surprise.
“Wait!” she found herself saying, “Where are you going?”
The blue rabbit paused for a moment before turning back to her. It titled its head from side to side in thought. A grin came across its features again as it waved for her to follow it.
“You’re not serious.”
She was given another grin before the creature started back on its original path again. Xion could feel the hairs on her arm stand up. Something about this wasn’t right -she’d seen too much in Kirkwall for it to be anything but- and yet…
“Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” she mumbled to herself before finally taking the steps outside Kirkwall’s walls.
That little bunny had been very sure that Xion would follow it. It would go a certain distance before pausing, looking back at her (sometimes even jumping to make sure she knew where it was), then starting back on its trail again. Something about this little game felt surreal; like a part of her was just sleepwalking and she was actually back at home, and still in bed.
She didn’t stop following that bunny, though.
The two of them travelled further and further away from Kirkwall. The imposing walls around it fading from view as they went on. They did keep to the established roads, though, so that was worth some amount of hope to work off of. Eventually, they started to see a caravan along the roadside. Seeing it made the little bunny hop faster- Xion was still too numb in her senses to match its speed. Outside of the caravan were more of the blue bunny children; three were playing some card game where one bunny was being absolutely smug about winning, another two were trying to feed the caravan’s horse a carrot, and one other was with a human young man. It was in noticing the young man that Xion paused.
He didn’t look much older than Cloud- maybe a year younger, but not by much. His clothes made her think he was a lesser noble that ran away from home, with his cleaned black jacket, vest, and pants. Not a wrinkle to be seen. Something about him seemed faintly familiar, as if Xion had seen him around Kirkwall, but not for long periods of time. Was it the hat? It certainly was a style all its own, featuring a long white and red feather for accent. The brim was long enough in the front to hide his upper face when needed, and at the moment it was hard to tell just what kind of face he was making as the bunny child vied for his attention.
The bunny child that had been guiding Xion let out a very loud shout of “I’m ba-ack!” that nearly scared Xion out of her wits. The noise also brought about the attention of the young man. He adjusted his hat a bit before giving a wide grin.
“About time.” he replied. “Did you find Sabi or not?”
The blue bunny just let out a happy squeal before continuing to the young man’s side. Xion had started to come forward again, her feet guiding her to be within arm’s distance of the young man. The two looked each other over- the feeling that Xion had seen this young man before was even more prominent than before.
“Well, you’re not my baby sister.” the young man noted, tilting his hat up a bit to get a better look at Xion. To the bunny child, he got down to about its height before saying, “And did you forget what Sabi looked like? Our sis has brown eyes, not blue ones.”
The bunny child looked back up at him, crossing its arms and giving him a stink eye.
“You are a bit too short to notice that, huh?” the young man then mused before ruffling the top of the bunny’s head. “Don’t worry, I still got a treat for you. It’s in the back of the caravan.”
The small creature gave a sound similar to an ecstatic squeal before heading toward the aforementioned caravan. This just left the two humans to themselves -for the most part- and the silence was starting to weigh on Xion again. If it wasn’t for the sounds of the bunny kids in the card game apparently picking a fight, Xion would have backed away from this odd caravan and straight back to Kirkwall. But did she really want to make that walk back up alone?
“Are you looking for someone?” Xion finally asked, if only to distract her own thoughts. “I could help if you really needed it.”
“Nah.” the young man said with a wave of his hand. “If Junior can’t find Sabi, then Sabi doesn’t want to be found right now. She’ll show up in her own time. Always does.”
“And Sabi is…?”
“My baby sis, of course. Don’t worry- she’s human too.”
A moment of confusion hit Xion, but then it rolled over into good humor.
“Oh good,” she mused, “For a moment I thought she was a Behemoth.”
“With that tenacity of hers, it wouldn’t surprise me if she was part darkspawn.” the young man cheerily replied, tipping his hat toward her in goodwill. “But that’s younger siblings for you; get in all the trouble and think us older kids are gonna bail them out. Not that my sister needs the help, truly. But it’s nice to always be there. You know?”
“I wouldn’t know anything about that.” Xion told him with a smirk. “I was the youngest in my family.”
“Pardon if I’ve offended you, then.” the young man replied. “But you know it’s true. I’m sure your older siblings are down right jealous of how often you get away with things.”
Despite herself, Xion let out a small chuckle. “That’s what my brother would say.” she agreed. “Our father was a mage, and my brother was the only one of us siblings that wasn’t, so he didn’t get to spend much time with him.”
After saying this, Xion froze. Maker, being Kirkwall’s Champion or not, she had forgotten that there was a prejudice against mages. The young man didn’t seem to notice her bluff, or even indicated he thought of it as one, instead giving her a light laugh.
“Now I’m jealous.” he said. “Our old man left sometime after my fifth birthday. He probably never even knew my sister existed.”
Still recoiling from her mistake, and realizing that she had not been listening to him, the news gave Xion a small jolt. She fumbled over her words as she mumbled, “Must have been hard for her. Your sister, that is. There are still days when I wish I could have my father by my side.”
And the rest of my family. It’s too quiet. Too lonely. Too… too…
“Mom was sweet on her.” the young man said, taking Xion out of her thoughts for a moment. “Definitely had a solid reason why she gave her a name meaning ‘princess,’ that’s for sure.” But then a frown appeared on his face. “I think she gave her too much affection, actually. Sabrina doesn’t realize that the version of our mom she saw wasn’t the whole thing. She wouldn’t listen even if I did tell her.”
“Why can’t she see it in your mother herself?” Xion wondered, thinking back to her own father and the times he did something slightly worrying her mother didn’t approve of when she found out about it.
The young man’s expression only darkened. “Mom died when Sabrina was 11, and I was 16. How old were you when you started to question the image you had of your parents?”
Admittedly, it took her a moment to consider it.
“It was probably when my sister’s magic started to manifest,” she carefully decided. “We moved to Lothering to protect (or, I guess more accurately, hide) her. I must have been…?” That was when a realization hit her, and she looked back up at the young man in mild surprise. “I wouldn’t have been much older than Sabrina. Maybe even younger.”
“Exactly.” he affirmed. He let out a long, conflicted sigh before giving a small shake of his head. “But where have my manners gone? We’re talking about family, and we don’t even know each other’s names yet.”
The young man adjusted his hat once more, pushed up his sleeves a bit, then held his hand out to her. “The name is Brain, madam.”
For a moment, Xion just blinked. Her thoughts went on pause from this young man’s change of topic.
“Xion.” she carefully agreed. “Xion Hawke.”
“So that’s why you’re familiar.”
“Huh?”
“I’ve seen you in Kirkwall.” he explained, as simple as day. “I used to operate a pop up store in Lowtown, then moved out to the Gallows by request. Well, it wasn’t so much a request than it was to help out a little wallflower. Either way, I come around every now and again. Circuit around Orlais, Ferelden, and the Free Marches to get the word out.”
“I do recognize you, then!” Xion marveled, speaking more of a thought out loud than actually talking to him proper.
“Nice to know I’m recognizable.” Brain mused, tilting his hat toward her. For a split second, he looked like he was going to say something more, but decided against it. Instead, he gave her a soft smile. “Things have gotten a lot better for us since then. Since Mom died, anyway.”
Returning the conversation back to the original topic made Xion’s heart stop for a moment. “They have?” she carefully asked despite this.
Brain gave her a confident nod.
“Sabi won’t admit it, but they have. Months after our mother died, we were adopted by an Orlesian merchant. He and his wife had been trying to have kids for years, but never could. (And it’s particularly hard to tell for how long they’ve been trying, since they’re one of those who are not quite human, but not quite animal. For some reason the Maker decided those folks could outlive us normals for at least a solid age or two.) So now I pay my dues helping him operate the most successful business this side of Thedas. Sabi also has her own little mission to repay the old rabbit. Although I must warn you- if you ever see a pretty girl with a rabbit mask on; run.”
“Noted.” Xion agreed with a little chuckle.
Brain gave a smile of his own before joining in the laughter. The sound echoed through Xion’s heart and filling her with a relief she didn’t know she needed until now.
After awhile, Brain collected himself to gently slide a finger across the brim of his hat.
“Things will get better for you too.” he then carefully told her, jolting Xion out of her joy. Not for the first time, the sudden shock feeling more like a slap to the face. It was rather concerning that this young man had that kind of power. “It might be something small- like buying yourself something nice, or meeting someone new. Maybe it’ll happen ten years from now. Who really knows? It’s hard, but it is possible to focus on the good coming, rather than the bad that’s already happened. It won’t be easy, but you seem the type to never back down.”
“Like your sister?” Xion asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
“A lot like my sister, actually.” he laughed in return. His sincere humor toward the topic was enough to send Xion in a light laughter as well.
Not wanting the small joy to end, Xion let her laugh naturally die down before looking him over again. Brain only stopped laughing because a bunny child was biding for his attention. As he talked to them, Xion further studied the young man. You couldn’t tell it at first glance, but Brain did have a genuine worry for his little sister. He hid it well behind clever remarks and an unbridled confidence. She wondered for a moment if Cloud felt the same way about her. It didn’t cross Xion’s mind that she had been staring for too long until Brain brought his attention to her. He didn’t say anything, but he tipped his hat in goodwill.
“It’s getting late.” Brain noted, taking half a glance up at the sky before looking back at Xion. “Would you like an escort back to Kirkwall?”
Xion smirked. “It would be the smarter choice, wouldn’t it?”
Brain offered back a rather bemused chuckle. He then let out a shrill whistle. Not long after, a blue bunny child came out of the caravan and happily bounded over to them. The bunny kid nuzzled against Brain for a moment as he likewise gave them a pat on the head.
“Junior, do me a favor and take Xion back home.” he said with a smile. “It’s getting late.”
The bunny child looked up at him with a wide grin, nodded in agreement, then happily went to Xion. It happily bounded into her arms, looking up at her with an innocent gleam in its eye. A thought came over Xion- one that she spoke out loud in mild bewilderment.
“That’s… not the same one from before.”
Brain raised an eyebrow in time with tilting his hat forward a bit. “Wow, I’m impressed. How’d you guess?”
“A hunch.” Xion carefully admitted. A comment from before came back to Xion in that moment. Brain had mentioned that his adoptive caretaker was a rabbit, right? And these blue bunnies were likely from him, right? She felt a bit dumb in just now asking the question. “Didn’t you say that your adoptive parents were not able to have children of their own?”
A rather mischievous glint flickered in Brain’s eye for a moment. “That’s still correct.”
“So how’d this little fella come along?”
Brain smirked. “Their luck changed, just like yours will.”
For a moment, Xion didn’t know what to think about that. She idly looked back down at the bunny child. It looked up at her with a wide eyed curiousness that only children knew how to pull off. The raw innocence of the creature almost made her recoil. At the same time, something in her clicked.
There was still hope.
Xion hugged the bunny kid for a second before waving Brain goodbye. The walk back to Kirkwall wasn’t filled with heavy thoughts. If anything, she was almost skipping. Once she and the bunny child got back to Kirkwall’s gates, they waved good bye and Xion made the walk back to Hightown. She saw a lot of blue bunnies on the way there. Each time she saw one, she remembered what Brain told her. When Xion got home, quietly shut the door behind her, and started to make a cup of tea. She slept incredibly well that night. It felt nice.
After that day, Xion started to notice just how many blue bunnies hung around Kirkwall. Each time she would see them, she’d smile and remember Brain’s advice with clarity.
It will get better.

Ellie was royally fucked. Her first reaction was panic, a fleeting feeling that made her want to run, because if you were at the tail end of Maria’s wrath there was no flight or fight — it was just flight.
She wanted to get away from town for one night. One night is all she asked. So she could have a good time with her girlfriend, get drunk and act like a stupid teenager. One night.
“Ellie! Get your ass down here right now!” Maria shouted from the floor below. There was no way Maria wouldn’t smell the pot on her.. she was done for.
Ellie took the walk of shame to the floor below, every step feeling like one closer to her casket. Dina and you followed behind her, wondering if you would both be in trouble.
“You’re in big trouble,” Maria began, her fury practically radiating off of her. You and Dina took a step back from the two, Maria was so focused on Ellie, you and Dina managed to avert her anger towards you two for a moment.
The last thing you wanted was for Ellie to get caught, you would have reminded her how stupid it was to leave and let Dina handle the rest, but it seemed Maria beat you to it.
“What’s our one rule in town, Ellie?” Maria questioned with a tight lipped sentence, her face stern and cold.
“Don’t leave unless you’re allowed to,” Ellie repeated, her eyes looking down.
“And what did you do tonight?”
“I broke that rule.”
Maria nodded. “Yes, you did. You’re getting taken off patrol for two months. Nine o’clock curfew from now until then,” She said sternly.
“What?! No! That’s bullshit! You can’t do that to me!” Ellie said in protest. You and Dina shifted uncomfortably behind her, wondering if you were on Maria’s next hit list.
“Yes, I can. You knew the rules and you broke them, end of discussion,” Maria reminded her. There was no winning against her.
“That’s such bullshit! You can’t take me off of patrol for two months!” Ellie continued.
“End of discussion. We’re going back to town,” Maria’s voice was deliberate, she began walking to the door, ignoring both you and Dina.
You were surprised she found Ellie, though she did mention she was waiting for Ellie to come home last night. Was it possible she was waiting that entire time for her? It was something Maria would do. Two months seemed like a harsh punishment, but Ellie did break the main rule of Jackson.
Seeing Maria reminded you of your little secret that would become not so little in a few months. When was the right time to tell her? It seemed like never, like the pregnancy was a premonition, like it hadn’t even happened yet. You couldn’t think about that now.
Ellie reluctantly began following the three of you after a few moments of shock. Maria was waiting by the door for you, when Ellie and Dina made it through the door, Maria stopped you.
“You two stay out here for a second. Don’t run off either,” She looked at the two of them standing in the doorway, they took a step back and she closed the door on them, leaving you in the lake house with Maria.
Maria pinched the bridge of her nose and looked down at the ground before sighing.
“Any explanation as to why you’re out here?” She asked, looking up at you.
“Dina couldn’t find Ellie so we snuck out to find her,” You shrugged, it was the truth.
“You told me you weren’t going outside of Jackson anymore.”
“I did it yesterday, I figured I could do it once more today. I didn’t want Dina going out here alone,” You explained.
“So if I were to assign you to patrols, you would be fine again?”
Your eyes widened, “No. I don’t want to patrol ever again. I’m fine with being outside of Jackson, I just don’t want to have the job of killing things outside of it anymore.” You put your hands up in defense.
“We’ll talk more about this in town, we need to get Ellie home first.”
•••
Maria rounded up all the teenagers after that, they all got put under curfew too, Cat included. Cat stayed cautiously away from both Dina and Ellie.
The walk home was brutally silent, and uncomfortable. You knew all the drunken teenagers were terrified of the rest of their punishment, getting yelled at by their parents and being the laughing stock of town for a few days. Rarely anyone got caught sneaking out.
The night guards at top of the watchtowers let the group in. Maria stopped them all and told them they needed to see her first thing in the morning at the Courthouse so they could be dealt with. The group dispersed after that. You could still seem them shaking in fear as they walked away.
“Dina, you can go home now. Ellie, I’m taking you home. I’ll swing by your house after, Y/N,” Maria said sternly. Ellie stood next to her awkwardly. Dina nodded and left, slipping you Mark’s gun as she left. Ellie was upset and more worried about Joel finding out. Everything that could have gone wrong tonight did go wrong, Cat was mad at her, Dina probably too, and Maria found out she snuck out. Tonight was a mess.
Maria took Ellie home, the air was tense and uncomfortable. Ellie could only focus on the leaves crunching under her feet as she passed through the town with Maria. Halloween was right around the corner, it was apparent too. Houses were decorated, some even had pumpkins outside, none carved however. No one was up it seemed, Joel went to bed early most nights, Ellie didn’t have to worry about being caught by him just yet. Even with the lights out in most houses, Jackson had a homely feel to it, it felt lived in, which it was.
“I’m disappointed in you, Ellie,” Maria said to her quietly as they passed through a neighborhood to Joel’s home.
Ellie remained silent, her brow furrowed as Maria continued.
“You should have never gone out there, you know the risks firsthand, and maybe some of those other kids don’t understand it quite well but I know for a fact you do.”
“Infected aren’t even spotted this close to town ever,” Ellie replied with defiance in her voice.
“A lake and drunk teenagers do not mix. There are wild animals out there too, many things could have happened, you’re lucky none of you got hurt,” Maria said to the teenager.
“No one got hurt.”
“You’re right no one did. Doesn’t mean because it didn’t happen this time doesn’t mean it won’t happen the next.”
“No one has gotten hurt outside of Jackson in a long time.”
Maria knew that wasn’t true, Mark was killed only a few months ago.
Maria scoffed, they reached the outside of Joel’s house, just as Ellie suspected, the lights were off. She was relieved to avert Joel’s disappointment towards her for at least a few hours. Ellie opened the gate to the backyard.
“We’re talking in the morning when you’re sober. And change your clothes, take a shower, you smell like a skunk.”
Ellie shut the gate, thudding as it closed.
•••
You managed to make it into your house quietly, it looked like no one was awake on your street. Your house was silent as usual. You clicked on the porch light as you hung your coat up, putting yours and Mark’s gun on the coffee table, you were glad you didn’t have to use it. You never wanted to use a gun again.
It was nice being home, you hoped no one would come looking for you for anymore favors tonight. Maria was still going to swing by but you figured she would give Ellie an earful first.
You took Mark’s dog tags off and fiddled them in your hand. He never took them off, you figured he would have been buried with them, yet you were glad Maria managed to save them for you. It was a reminder of who he was, a part of him that would always be with you.

Mark O.
Denver QZ
A Positive
Mark stood at the scene of the explosion. A ringing in his ears he had never heard before. It wasn’t chaotic anymore, there was no screaming, no wails of anguish, just soldiers barking orders at dazed civilians. The soldiers in Denver were used to this sort of resistance, it was not uncommon for an attack at a checkpoint. There was only two squads sent in for backup. Two squads. Three soldiers dead and two civilians.
Mark could barely even comprehend what he was seeing, like he was looking at a scene from a movie. But the air was too thick with smoke, the air stunk of gunpowder and carnage. This was no movie.
He sat on a curb, watching as the group in front of him did damage control. He watched as the bodies were taken away. He watched and did nothing. There was nothing he could do. The rest of the FEDRA soldiers had pulled him away from the checkpoint and sat him down on the curb like some child.
He couldn’t even find his older brother, only his little sister, choking out his name. He held her as she died, her eyes clouding and a gaping wound coming out of the back of her head. Mark had never felt such shock in his life, one second he was walking down the street to meet her and his brother and the next it was all in flames. He couldn’t see his brother, he couldn’t find whatever remained of him even as he frantically searched through the debris. The smoke was hurting his lungs, it was hard to breathe.
“Don’t you dare fucking die on me, Emily,” Mark shouted at her, clutching the dying girl in his arms. She was young, barely out of boarding school. There was so much blood.. blood that would stain his hands forever, his first glimpse into the true pain of this world. Her blood was slippery and warm, it got all over her clothes. She was wearing the purple shirt with a smiley face Mark worked so hard to find..
“Emmy? Emmy? No, no you’re not dying!” He repeated, shaking her. The blood kept pooling, her eyes were becoming shrouded in fog as she danced on the thin line of life and death.“Wake up, Emily.. you have to wake up,” He trailed off, a realization hitting him. His sister was dead. He could see her laughing and waving to her moments before, her braids bouncing behind her. Mark’s older brother standing next to her.
“No, no, no,” He trembled, grasping her purple shirt.. it was bloodied and dirty now. It was completely ruined.
“Luke!” He shouted, getting up quickly to find his brother. He could barely see through the smoke.. groups of people pushing to get away from the crowded checkpoint. He split through the crowd, shouting his brother's name the entire time. People shoved and pushed as his world crumbled to pieces.
There was no shout of his name in return. Only frantic people pushing him out of their way, their faces going by in blurs as he scanned the crowd for Luke. The smoke was beginning to clear at least.
Luke was standing next to Emily.. Luke was standing next to her… Luke was closer to where the explosion went off.
Mark immediately turned around, running towards where Emily was.
“Luke!” He shouted louder now, desperation in his voice. His heart thrumming so loudly in his chest he felt like it would burst.
There was no response. Only the distant rumble of trucks racing towards the checkpoint, the sound of debris settling and fires cracking. The flames danced around him, concrete and steel covering the ground, dust in the air.
“Fuck!” He mumbled breathlessly, gasping for air as his body trembled, being unable to find his older brother. The silence was disheartening, he knew the truth. Luke was closer to the blast.. and even Emily hadn’t made it. His world had unraveled so quickly, he was going to the checkpoint to meet up with his brother and sister on his arrival back home from outer wall duty, his first day off in months, he was looking forward to it, they all were. They were inviting friends over for a small party, Emily had even made a cake.
But now Luke was dead. Emily was dead. His respected, quiet older brother, his fun and innocent little sister. He knew exactly what group did this. They were going to wish he had been killed in that blast too.

You opened the door for Maria, she did not look happy.
“I appreciate you looking for Ellie, but you should have told me first,” She said as you let her in, leading her to the couch.
“I didn’t want her getting in trouble with you or Joel.. I figured she could have a little time off for now,” You replied. Ellie needed it.
Maria nodded, “I’m letting Joel know in the morning. He is not going to be happy with her. But what if she had gotten into trouble out there? Could you have handled that again?”
You weren’t sure of that answer, but you would have defended yourself. “I had Dina with me.”
“You and Dina alone could not have taken on a group of hunters or infected.”
“I know,” You said softly.
“So why did you agree to go with her?” Maria asked. You knew she would have had questions, probably grilling you on going back to patrol again.
“I couldn’t let Dina go by herself, like I said. I didn’t want either of them getting caught, clearly it didn’t work,” You sighed, leaning back into the couch.
“Ellie should never have gone out there,” Maria remarked with disappointment.
“Teenagers do it all the time.. you need to be less harsh on her.” You owed Ellie a favor or two.
“She needs to be reminded of our rules in town and be more respectful,” Maria replied.
“But two months is a lot.. and in truth she was drunk.. probably high too, you shouldn’t punish her for that long. I think Ellie learned her lesson tonight, she’s just upset right now,” You negotiated. Regardless of whether Ellie had learned her lesson or not, she didn’t deserve that long of a punishment. She deserved a long scolding and a good reminder of what her actions could cause — punishment like that was only going to cause more rebellion.
“I’ll rethink. For your sake. Maybe I’ll let Joel handle her and give her the punishment the rest of the teenagers are getting.”
Telling Joel was a given. You couldn’t negotiate that. It wasn’t the best for her but Joel deserved to know. At least now that Ellie had been caught.
“Could you go back outside Jackson again?” She said after a few seconds of silence, her eyes filled with curiosity.
“I am. I’m going with Joel to the lake in a few days. But I’m not doing patrols again.” Though Joel owed you a trip back to the lake, it would be hypocritical of you to return.
“We need you back on patrols,” Maria confessed.
“I’m not going on patrols anymore,” You replied firmly.
“You know why,” You reminded her.
“Jackson needs you, we need you,” She repeated, taking your hands and placing hers on top of yours.
“You have been doing fine without me,” You said.
“We really need you.”
“Why?”
“I didn’t mean to tell you this now.. but I didn’t mean to keep this from you either,” She began with a sigh, looking away from you. You shifted in your spot, wondering what she was going to tell you.
“There's a horde of infected coming our way, they’re due to hit us in December. Jackson needs you for the fight, to lead the sniping group,” She said determinedly, trying her damndest to convince you.
A horde? There was no way you could deal with fighting a horde, you could barely take out a pack of infected these days without panicking, let alone lead others on how to shoot. You couldn’t risk danger anymore, you weren’t only protecting yourself, but the life of the child growing inside of you. A horde seemed terrifying, most of Jackson hadn’t been outside the walls in years, let alone seen infected. But people would bear arms and fight, they would protect the town if it was the last thing they could do. People would die, people would get hurt, but the town would be safe. The children would be safe. Large groups of hunters occasionally tried to wreak havoc to the town, those who could fight always would, and Jackson won every single time. They had yet to be beaten.
“I can’t.”
Maria expected that response, “I know you don’t want to. I know it reminds you of what happened to Mark, but you have to move on. You’re Jackson’s best shot, we need you the most. I don’t trust anyone on this job more than you.”
“Look, I went on your little crusade yesterday, I did what I had to do and I told you I’m done,” You said harshly, getting up from the couch and going to the kitchen.
Maria followed you, “Mark would have wanted you to help us. To protect the town,” She pressed.
You groaned and began filling up a kettle with water from your water purifier next to the sink.
“Well Mark isn’t here,” You snapped back, placing the kettle on the stove and turning it on.
“I know you don’t want to do this. I know you have your reasons, but I promise you if you do this I’ll never put you on another patrol again. All of Jackson will be indebted to you.”
You couldn’t let Maria try to coax you into returning.. there was a reason you couldn’t do this anymore, a reason that didn’t relate to Mark’s death.
“I’m pregnant.” You stopped and looked at your friend.
Her eyes widened, she was silent, thinking of what there was possibly to say.
“I can’t do patrols anymore because I’m pregnant,” You repeated, your voice solemn.
“How long have you known?” She took a step closer to you. She would have to figure out a Plan B for the horde situation now, discuss with Tommy in the morning, talk to the council.
“Hours. Only a couple of hours.” You leaned against the counter, listening to the stove hum with heat. Maria was relieved to hear that, but you had still took a risk when you looked for Ellie.
“Are you going to keep it?” She asked, her face serious.
You nodded, biting your lip. You had already decided that, had it been a few weeks earlier your choice may have been different.. but you had already made up your mind now.
“Is it-” She began, you quickly cut her off.
“Mark’s,” You replied softly,, staring at the kettle.
“Well that’s a relief, I was afraid I was going to be an aunt,” She laughed dryly.
“I just.. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m not ready to raise a child, especially not without Mark around.. he would be better at this than I would,” You confessed, trying to blink away tears that snuck up on you.
Maria quickly pulled you into a hug. “I know, honey. I think parenting sneaks up on a lot of people,” She said soothingly. You let your tears fall onto her shoulder.
It was all terrifying.. the thought of a child being born into a world as cruel as this one. The thought you being a mother alone, without Mark there to guide you. He would have been thrilled to hear the news.. having a son or daughter.
“I don’t think I can do this alone,” You sobbed gently into her shoulder, your words getting caught in your throat.
“You won’t be alone, I promise you there are people here who will help you.” She rubbed your back gently. There were people there to help you, there was a doctor’s office with trained midwives, other single parents who would understand you, a daycare with teacher’s who would give your child an education, and most of all a family who would support you no matter what. You were foolish to think Maria would be anything less than supportive.
“This is starting to sound less and less daunting,” You laughed through the tears, pulling away from Maria.
“Well, we’ll discuss more in the morning then. It’s getting late and I know you start work early,” She said. You looked over at the window, if you fell asleep within the hour you would at least get some decent rest before work.
“You’re right. It is late. I hope you get the situation figured out with the teenagers.”
“I will. I’ll make sure to get it all sorted out.” She nodded, you followed her to the door, opening it for her.
“And, could you please not tell anyone about me being pregnant? I think I’d like to keep it as quiet as possible for awhile,” You asked, your voice wavering with a hint of nervousness in it. You already had enough to talk about with enough people, you didn’t need anything else on your plate for awhile.
“I won’t.”
“Thank you for saving Mark’s dog tags for me by the way,” You mentioned.
“I’m glad you found them,” She smiled.
•••
Ellie was beyond angry, disappointed and embarrassed. Not only had she been caught in bed with her girlfriend by her best friend, now they were both mad at her and at eachother. Maria had caught the group which was even more humiliating, being found by the head of Jackson half drunk and half high. Tonight was a wreck.
All she asked for was one night, one night where she could party and do dumb teenager things and worry about her actions later. She wanted to get away from Jackson and most importantly Joel.
She didn’t want to worry about Joel lying to her, beating around the bush around what truly happened in Salt Lake all those years ago. She needed to know the truth, and Joel would never give it to her. She needed to find it out for herself. Whether that be in a month or a year, or even ten. Ellie would find out the truth, and she knew whatever she found she would not like.
Joel would yell at her in the morning, he would tell her how stupid she was for doing that and give her, his most disappointed face he could muster. Joel needed to stay in his own lane now, Ellie wasn’t a little girl anymore who needed protecting.
But Maria or you would tell him regardless, in the morning she would be officially off of patrol for two months and on a curfew. She would have to apologize to both Dina and Cat and get them to stop arguing. She would have to listen to Joel be the disappointed father figure. She would have to eventually listen to you give her some half assed explanation of why you dodged her for three months.
Ellie Williams was tired of apologies and scoldings. Something she was awfully getting used to.

I Dare You
based on a pin I saw on pinterest where i use a song and write a story sing every single word. I used I Dare You by Bea Miller to write this fic.
here's the song (:
It takes place mid supernova, when Nova has Danna caught in a jar. She struggles with her guilt for trapping Danna, and questions her loyalties to the Anarchists. This was a bitch to write bc trying to fit lyrics in order is a pain, so please leave likes and reblog!
Wc: 3440
Nova rubbed her eyes, collapsing onto the bed in her and Honey’s room.  She groaned, kicked off her shoes and fell backward.
She was so fucking tired of the anarchists.  She knew that they had done so much for her, but they expected too much.  And she was exhausted.  They wanted her to keep the charade up with the Renegades.
And she hated it.  She hated having to pretend to love Adrian.  She hated having to spend every single second of her day with Adrian, Oscar, and Ruby, getting as close as she could when, in the end she knew she would betray them.
And that was going to make her feel miserable.  Even more miserable then she already was.
A flutter of black and orange caught her eye, and Nova pulled herself up.
In her moment of self pitying, she had completely forgotten about her butterfly friend.
That was another thing weighing heavy on her consciousness.
She walked over to the vanity, and picked up the small jar.
“I can remember a time when I was so afraid,” she said to Danna, “maybe the first time I ever felt real, true fear.  A man entered my apartment.  He killed my mom and dad right in front of me.  He killed my sister,” she said with a small sob.  “I couldn’t save her.  But maybe… maybe if I had tried harder I could have.  That was the first time I felt fear.  When I went to a place even my shadow wouldn’t follow me.”
Nova slumped down to the floor, and cradled the jar to her chest.  “I don’t know why I’m even telling you this.”  Nova groaned.  “I’m a fucking mess.  But I feel like I can talk to you.  Is that weird?”  She laughed, and shook her head.  “I don’t even know if you can hear me.”    She looked at the butterfly.  It was still for the first time in days.  It seemed as if it was looking straight at Nova.  She groaned again.  “I’m sick of being a tool.  I’m sick of being just another step in my uncle’s plan.  But they are my family, and I have to help.  Don’t I?”
Danna barreled into the wall, then flapped her wings adamantly.
Nova breathed in deeply.  “I’m so sorry Danna.  I can’t imagine what it must be like in there for you. I- I would hate it.  I’m sorry for being an anarchist.  I know you wanted to believe in me.”
“Nova!”  Honey’s shrill voice yelled.  “Get your ass down here!  We need you!”
Nova grimaced.  “I guess I’m picking up my sword.  Thanks for listening, Danna.  You actually helped me a lot.”  She set the jar back on the vanity, and scattered a few pins over it, making it look like nothing had been disturbed.
And she was struck by an urge to shatter the jar.  Let all the pieces scatter, and let Danna free.  Then Danna could go tell the Renegades.
And Nova could stop pretending.
She could go back to the person she was before.  Before she met Adrian, and Oscar, and Ruby.  Before she met Danna.
---
“Nova sweetie, what took so long?”  Honey asked.  She dipped her finger into a jar of honey, and lazily stirred it around.
Nova ignored her, and sat down around the table.  “I thought we were done.  What else do you need?”  She was in a bad mood.  A very bad mood.  She couldn’t handle Honey and the others right now.
“So snappy,” Honey sniffed.  “I thought you wanted to get back at the renegades for killing your family.
“I- of course I do!”  Nova said, annoyed.
“Well you're certainly not acting like it.  I’m beginning to think you’d rather be with that Everhart boy than us.”
Nova sighed.  “Honey, I would never choose Adrian over my family.  His parents basically killed them.  I am one hundred percent committed.
“Good.”
Leroy cleared his throat.  “The window of time to rescue Ace is closing.  We have to act soon.  So, we need you to figure out whatever you possibly can about Cragmoor.”
Nova sighed.  “You want me to go talk to Adrian.”
They both nodded.  “Sorry Nova, I know you just got home.”
“Listen, I want to rescue Ace as much as you guys do, believe me.  But give me a break.  ‘Cause I… I- .”  Nova took a deep breath in, and out.  “I’m worth fighting for too.”  Honey started, and stared at her in complete shock.  “Just for… for..”  nova sighed and stared them straight in the eyes.  “For once in my life, give me a break.  Yes, I know what the Renegades did.  But don’t play innocent.  I know you’ve manipulated me my entire life.  And I let it happen.  So just… leave me alone tonight.  I have a lot to think about.  We can overthrow the Renegades tomorrow, alright?”
Before Honey could respond, Nova stormed upstairs.  She threw the window open, and was half-way out before a thought crossed her mind.  She ducked back in and put the small jar with the golden butterfly into her pocket.
She pulled herself to the roof, and leapt off.  She bounded across the rooftops, until she had reached an old office.  She scaled to the roof, and pulled the jar out of her pocket.
“So they can put me in a cage,” she muttered to herself.  “Lock me in a room and throw away the key.  But they get mad at me when I try to stand up for myself.”  She flipped onto her back, and looked at the setting sun.  The sky was alight with colors.
“I know you hate me,” she said to the butterfly.  “I’ve done terrible things.  I hurt you.  But I’m not sorry for what I did.”  Nove realized she had started to cry.  “I dare you to do something else if you had been in my place.”
She sniffed, and wiped her tears away.  “I’ll break down the walls trying to keep me down.  I’ll be a higher wrecking ball then the Renegades.  I’m gonna hurt them the way they hurt me.  And I won’t let them tear me down.”  No.  Oh, Nova would never let them win. Oh, she would never let that happen.  They could lock her away at Cragmoor, and throw away the key, but Nova would never stop fighting.
“Danna, I dare you to spend a day in my shoes.  Oh, someone like you?  So used to freedom and choices?  Oh, you wouldn’t last a day.  And I won't let you tear me down.  No, the Renegades will never best me.”  Nova wiped her face again.
She looked at the small insect.
“At least I know the Renegades are bad. The anarchists…”  Nova sighed.  “They pretend they're so much better, but I know they’re just using me.  They don’t actually care about me, just what I can do. I had an opinion, but I never spoke my mind, and I wouldn’t argue, even when I knew I was right.  I was too fucking scared of what would happen.  What Honey might do.  But I’m not that girl anymore.  I can stand up for myself.  I can say what I want now.”  The sun had now fully set, and a speckling of stars covered the sky.
Yeah, Nova had lost almost every battle against Honey and the other Anarchists.  She never won an argument so she had stopped trying.  But she was determined to win the war.
“I’m worth fighting for, Danna.  For- for years of my life, I watched the Renegades abuse me and the Anarchists.  And I know that you and Adrian, and the others want me to be good and do the right thing, but that's not gonna happen.  I’m not changing who I am because it’ll get me farther in life.  So if the Renegades do end up winning, you can put me in a cage, you can lock me in a room and throw away the keys.”  She leapt to her feet, and strode around, her mind too crowded to enjoy the starry sky.
“In fact I dare you.  I dare you to lock me away, because I’ll break down the walls.  I will be a higher wrecking ball.  And I won’t let you tear me down, no.”  She breathed out heavily.  “But I am sick of this guilt I have.  Sick of convincing myself I’m doing what needs to be done.  I’m fucking sick of having to see you every day, just to be struck by another wave of guilt at seeing you trapped because of me.  I’m so sick of being confused and torn between everything.”  Nova scooped the jar up, off the ground and held it to her chest.
“I want to throw away the key to my heart,  make it so I can never open it.  So no one can ever open it.  I don’t ever want to give anyone power over me again.  Look at what it’s fucking doing to me!”  She sobbed, to the butterfly.  “I dare you to go to the Renegades.  Bring them here, let them catch me.”  Nova turned to the edge and screamed, “I am done being the double agent!  I am fucking done!”  But no one responded.  No one cared.  Who would?
“I won’t let you tear me down?  No what a fucking joke.  Danna, you’ve already torn me apart.  With guilt.  With your hate.  With the knowledge that when you’re human again, you'll hate me!”  Nova collapsed back onto the hard roof.
“I just keep running, running, running.  Trying to find my place in the world, and it always ends back at good vs. evil.  Villain vs. hero. Just like you and me.  Monarch vs. Nightmare,” Nova spat, still crying.  “I’m still fucking trying to find who I was.  Am.  I don’t know.  I would go the distance to find out, but it’s never far enough.”
She held the jar up to eye level, and looked at the delicate golden insect.
Nova knew exactly what she wanted, but she knew that would never happen.  She knew what she wanted for once.  Yes, she wanted to destroy the Renegades for what they did to her and her family.  Yes, she wanted to tell the Anarchists that she was done being their tool.  Yes, she wanted to save Ace from his fast approaching death.  Yes, she wanted to have it all be over.
But in that moment, the one thing she wanted, wanted more than anything was to see Danna right in front of her.  To stop that constant guilt from devouring her.  It might mean the end of her freedom, but it was worth it.  To see Danna one more time.
“But now, Danna, I'm standing straight and I think I know exactly who I am.”  Nova breathed in.  She smiled a little and laughed amid her tears.
“My name is Nova Jean Artino.  I’m not a Renegade or an Anarchist.  I’m just Nova.  Yeah, I was raised as an Anarchist.  Yeah, I pretended to be a Renegade.  But that’s not important.  Because I’m Nova, and that’s all that matters.”  She carefully unscrewed the top and let the gold insect fly out.
As it disappeared, Nova whispered to herself, “I can remember a time when I was so afraid.  I trapped a golden girl in a jar so she wouldn’t hurt me, and by doing that, I hurt her.  So now, now I’m terrified she’ll hate me forever.”
Nova sat down on the rooftop, and waited.  For what though, she wasn’t quite sure.  Common sense told her to run.  Run far, and hide.  Danna would tell everyone, and she would spend the rest of her life behind bars.
A flicker of orange caught Nova’s eye.  A swarm of brilliant monarchs were flying across the night, heading straight for Nova.  She sprang to her feet as they cycloned in front of her.
They consolidated into a form still in a Renegades uniform, blonde dreadlocks wild and crazy, brushing against warm brown skin.  Danna.
“Nova,” she whispered, before pitching forwards.  Right into Nova’s arms.
Nova hugged her tight against her body, and inhaled the scent of flowers.  She gently lowered the unconscious girl to the ground, using her leg as a pillow for Danna’s head.
Danna’s eyes flickered open.  “Nova…” she croaked.
“Hey Danna,” she replied through a blur of tears.  “I’m sorry…”
Danna cut her off by reaching up and cradling Nova’s head.  She kissed her firmly, stopping anymore words from leaving Nova’s mouth.
“I wanted to do that from the moment I saw you,” Danna breathed.
Nova sprang to her feet, Danna right behind her.
“Danna, I’m a bad person.  You should turn me in.  Find a better person to be with,”  Nova said softly through tears.  “I’m tired of living a lie.  Please… just do it already.”  She screwed her eyes shut and held out her hands, expecting Danna to handcuff her, or call Adrian and the others.
Instead, warm arms enveloped her.
Nova broke down sobbing, crying into Danna’s shoulder.  It wasn’t pretty or cute, it was an ugly cry.  Tears and snot ran down her face.
“I’m so so sorry,” she sobbed.  “I trapped you.  I betrayed you.  How are you not mad?”
Danna sighed, and rubbed Nova’s back soothingly.  “In the beginning I was.  I was so mad that you had been spying on us, using us.  I was pissed that I was stuck in swarm mode.  But then… I saw how you lived.  The way the other anarchists used you, and the way you were manipulated.  I know that the Renegades messed up your life a lot, and I understand Nova.  I don’t agree with what you did, but I do understand.”
Nova sobs gradually ceased.  “You should go.  I don’t want to get you in trouble for helping me.  Thank you for everything Danna.”  She pulled herself away from the warm hug.
“Nova,” Danna said sharply.  “You can put me in a cage, or lock me in a room, however much you want.”  She inhaled sharply.  “You can do whatever you want to try and convince me you're a bad person, but I know the truth.”
Nova turned to look at Danna’s wide brown eyes.
“You can throw away the key to your heart, but you can bet that won’t stop me.”  Danna smiled at Nova.  “I dare you to let me into your life.  Because I'm in love with you.  And if you think that we can’t be together because you think you're a villain, then I’ll break down the walls guarding you.”  Danna smirked, her soft lips curving into a smile.  “I’m a higher wrecking ball, and you can’t stop me.  Nova Jean Artino, you are going to have to accept the fact that I love you, and I don’t want you to turn me away because you think you’re a villain.  I understand if you don’t want me, but I need you to realize that I want you as who you are, villain or not.”
Nova shook her head.  “But what about my uncle?  I can’t just let him die, he’s done so much for me.  I won’t let you tear me down, away from my goal, and my family.  No, oh no.  He’s all I have left.  ”
“Nova, it's too late for him, but it's not too late for you.  Throw away this pointless hope that he can survive this.  I agree the renegades need to change, and you are key to that, not him.”  Danna reached out to grab Nova’s hand, and pulled them together.
Nova pressed her forehead against Danna’s, their warm skin touching together.
“Nova, I dare you to forget everything.  Forget the Anarchists and the Renegades.  Forget everything, and just think about me.”  Danna smiled at Nova.  “Do you want me the way I want you?”
“Yes,” Nova breathed.  “Oh, more than anything.”
“Then what are you waiting for?  We can leave.  Start a new life, just us.   Forget renegades and anarchists.  There would be no Nightmare and Monarch.  Just Nova and Danna.”
“We can’t…”
“Why not?  What’s stopping you?   Is there anything for you in Gatlon?”
Nova shook her head.  “But Ace…”
“He’s already dead.  We can’t do anything for him.  But we can do something for you.  I know how huge this is- asking you to leave everything and start a new life, but I love you Nova Jean Artino, and I never want to see you caught by the Renegades, or used by the Anarchists ever again.”  Danna looked straight at Nova.  “Will you leave with me?”
“Okay,” Nova said, surprising herself.  “Okay,” she repeated with a small laugh.  “You’ve been thinking about this for a while.”
Danna’s face darkened.  “Everyday when I was in the jar.  When I saw the way you were treated, I knew I had to get you out of there.”
“That must have been terrible for you to be stuck in there,” Nova murmured.
“You helped me.  Whenever I saw your face, or heard your voice it made me feel better because I knew nothing had happened.”
“You helped me too.  I’ve never had anyone I could talk to, but for you it felt like you were listening.  And understanding.”  Nova shrugged.
“I was. Well not listening exactly, but I did understand.  And I wanted to form so I could wrap my arms around you, and kiss you until you were better.”
“You can do that now if you want,” Nova said lightly.  “I hear it’s good to practice.”
Danna raised her eyebrow.  “Well, we’d better make up for years of missing out then.”
Nova’s face flushed a brilliant shade of red.  “You’re not the first person I kissed,” she mumbled.
Danna laughed brightly.  “Really?  Who else?”
“Narcissa Cronin.  The Librarian’s daughter.  I don't think you've met her.”
“Interesting.  But I still think you need more practice,”  Danna grinned, and cupped Nova’s face in her strong hands.
Danna pulled them together, and they kissed.
It was like nothing Nova had ever experienced before.  Small fireworks shot through her mind as she wrapped her legs up around Danna’s waist, and they tumbled down to the hard ground.
They didn’t care.
Danna ran her hands through Nova’s choppy hair.
“We should go,” Nova said, breathless.  “If we really want to leave.”
“Yeah,” Danna said, equally out of breath.  She tucked a loose piece of hair behind Nova’s ear.  “We should.”
She reached up and pulled Nova back down, Nova straddling her hips and leaned down over Danna again, her hair a thick curtain.
“You’re beautiful Star,” Danna said thickly.
“You too, lepidoptera,” Nova chuckled.  She leaned back up.
“Oh stop it.”  Danna pretended to glare at Nova, and leaned back up.
“Never.”  Nova smirked.  “So you really want to leave?  We can’t come back.  This is a forever decision,” Nova said, her expression souring.
“Nova, I want you to be my forever,” Danna said, rubbing Nova’s hand.  I love you, and I’d give up the world for you.”  She stood, and offered a hand to Nova, which Nova accepted.
“I love you too, but I don’t want you to throw your life away.”
“I’m not throwing it away if it's with you.  I’m just making it better.”
Nova went up on her tiptoes, and brushed a kiss against Danna’s chin.  “I want to leave Gatlon forever and never look back.”
“Me too.”
“Ready then?”
“Ready as I’ll ever be.”
Danna burst into her swarm, and followed Nova closely as she made her way down the old building.
She solidified, and together the two of them walked through the city, hand in hand.
Nova thought back to the Anarchists, the way she was just leaving them.  They would not last long without her.  But Leroy was smart, and they knew how to survive.
“Thinking about the others?”  Danna asked.  “I know I don’t like the idea of leaving our team by themselves, but I’d rather you be safe.” Danna squeezed her hand reassuringly.  “They’ll be okay.”
“I hope so,” Nova responded, thinking about the Anarchists not the Renegades.
As they walked past the cathedral ruins, Nova whispered, “I won’t let you tear me down, Uncle.  You did what you could to mold me to become your perfect soldier, but now I'm becoming my own person.  And I say no more heroes and villains.  Just me and Danna forever.”  She looked back at the tall girl and smiled.  “She feels better than revenge will ever feel.  And I want her to be my forever.”
Together, hand in hand the couple left the city, and never returned.

Word prompt: look
I think this is for the "post a sentence of your WIP with this word in it" prompt? I don't think I've reblogged anything else for word prompts lately, so... If it's meant to be something else, please let me know!
But for that one, oh my stars. Another good guess. I already know this is going to be a Long List. I like using "look" because it's a good way to Denote Attention Shifting, or someone paying attention to another's expression or details in the environment (thus presenting these details to the reader), and "looked" is Really Unobtrusive rhythmically and connotationally compared to "gazed", "observed", "appeared", etc.
I was going to make a list for ever instance of every form of the word, including “looks”, “looking”, and “looked”, but after just ONE STORY that list grew WAY too long! So I’m doing what I did with the last one and stuck to The Exact Word.
And now for the (ridiculously long) complete list. Gotta give myself kudos for taking this little 4-letter word in so many directions over the course of my writings, though! (There are actually more, but several instances are in stories I don’t really want to share yet, and frankly after ctrl+F’ing and fighting Tumblr’s weird formatting for two hours, I’m losing my attention span!)
Safe to say you probably win this one, though. Because it occurs a LOT.
Dove’s Memories:
"It is your own teachings that have sent me away," Magena told the council members, her voice soft, steady, as she took one last, longing look around the land she had always called home.
She strode through the halls with confidence, not allowing herself to look back.
Only Azar seemed to know, but a dark and distant look came into her eyes whenever asked, and so the others left the subject alone.
Dove watched the bird walk around the bed and look at her new surroundings for nearly an hour before Alerina came in and told Dove, ”I’m sorry that took so long… Are you alright?"
Dove watched the dove as she walked to the edge of the bed, stopped, and turned to look at her.
“He took one look at her and knew,” Alerina said with wonder.
“You look a little like Raven…”
“You look scared.”
He closed his eyes lightly with a look of blissful concentration and chanted a few more syllables before the glow began to outline Sieara as well.
Sieara looked up at him – and both could have sworn to see a look of confusion in her eyes.
Alerina pulled back, so she could look into her eyes, and smiled.
Alerina could only look on helplessly until she was done.
“But it didn't look like Azarath..."
(shorthand note) Sits and tries to look casual, but does her best to meditate, calm the fears, keep her powers under control...
Kary’s backstory:
(shorthand note) Girls look -- then group around her and hide her.
“What does it LOOK like?"
"Well, look who was telling the truth for once."
"You just look like you really need it."
“Look at her, she's pale as Salvany's sheets."
Soul Sickness:
(shorthand note) Dove drops her gaze... thinking, and doesn't look back up... but gives him a small nod.
She glanced to them, and shook her head to look him dead in the eye.
“I mean… Look at you!“
Dove’s Dark Discovery:
He didn't have to look very hard to see what she really wanted: Raven needed someone to steady herself against.
“How afraid she was to even look at us.“
She tried to look into Dove's eyes, but she refused to meet her gaze.
“Look into yourself.”
“But you didn't look into their eyes, and laugh at their pain, and fear, and use your powers to torture them to death.“
The Final Journey:
Then, look for an alternative exit.
Dove still doesn't look up; that didn’t mean anything but that she'd be even more liable to lose control, without the strength to fight her powers back.
(shorthand note) Raven’s dark and suspicious look kills her, she promises she’s okay
She sighed, shaking her head at the number of books she had to look through.
“You look tired."
She knew Raven only wanted to look out for her.
(shorthand note) Meaningful look at Dove.
Kary the Wanderer:
Showing fear would only make her look easier to–
“I know, I plan to look for food now.”
"Mind if I take a look myself?"
Spellbound pt. II:
A dreamy look came over Dove’s face.
Dove blinks, trying to figure out how she could tell him without telling him exactly what had happened in Raven’s memories, she did let her look into her mind in confidence…
A wistful look suddenly came into his eyes.
Having to yell to be heard over the flapping of the enormous wings, the wizard called, “Dove, open your eyes and look!“
Even though he tried to make it look painless, tolerable, so as to not worry them, there wasn’t much he could do against their empathy.
Fire and Flight: The Key to Igniting a Pacifist Heart:
And right now, he didn't look like very much at all.
When she wasn't too afraid to look into them.
After a few moments of staring in absolute wonder at the glistening gems inside, he finally managed to look up at Dove.
Dove made a movement to look away, but held his gaze.
She winced as his eyes widened tremendously, and she forced herself to look away.
(shorthand note) Next day, after dinner it’s dark outside, Srentha keeps noticing Dove glancing at the window – and once he saw the look of anxiety slip on her face, he asks her what’s wrong?
But that look in her eyes, the distant, nervous look, kept him from asking any more questions.
“You look really pale.“
“I mean, I’ve always thought you two look kind of similar, but you look nothing like–”
He felt like he was being pulled into them and didn’t want to look away.
(shorthand note) When she turns to look up at Raven there are traces of worry and confusion but no tears…
“But I didn't want to hurt YOU, either, and--look what happened…”
She lifts her head and a dreamy look came into her eyes, lifted towards the ceiling and complemented by a tiny, shy smile.
“And you saw my magic like something special to me, not some weird corkscrewy obligation to destiny, or bitter irony because, hah, look what I can do, and good luck figuring out what to do with it because we're all going to die before I could have a place on the council!”
He broke the eye-contact to look down and gather his thoughts, breaths chopped off as he rapidly began and ended words that his smiling mouth couldn't capture, and Dove's mind fizzled like a soda in the wake of his mind's absence.
"Dove, you look better than anyone in the room!" Srentha replied.
He walked from the couch to where she stood, a slightly curious and confused look on her face; what could be missing from a costume she didn’t even wear?
Tells her he sees that lovestruck look on her face.
He looked at her, wanting to call out to her, look so deeply into her eyes that there was no way she could think he wasn’t speaking from the bottom of his heart.
Eventually he exhausts himself - throws himself on the ground to rest and rolls onto his back, so that he was right next to Dove and could look up at her with such dedicated affection, Dove couldn't help smiling back with every fondness and romantic tendency she never let show before shining through her eyes.
The Next Step:
And with every word it was becoming harder to look her sister in the eye.
But Dove glanced up, and recognized that receptive and willing [and so COMFORTING] look in her eyes that made her such a good listener, even if she was wholly unfamiliar with the subject matter.
Dove could only look at her in concern, not understanding.
Alerina readied the memories, and let Dove look into her mind...
“I... I’m sorry, Dove, I cannot look at those times anymore...”
Srentha's eyes open and hands slip down to hers, clasp, step back to see – look at each other’s desire burning in their eyes.
She couldn’t look away, fear held her captive but love made the imprisonment willing.
(shorthand note) They’ll look into it, special meditations to seek it.
That look broke his heart cleanly (in two?).
"You don't look okay to me."
“Dove, with the way you look now, they’d think you have a deadly disease and only two days to live.”
(shorthand note) They say she doesn’t look so good.
Growing Up Demon:
“She's passing often enough - look at how many diapers we've used already!”
“Dove, look at you!“
“Azar, you've seen the look she gets when you're not feeling well."
"She has that look all the time lately."
From down here, it didn't look nearly as terrifying as it was up there, suspended hundreds of feet in the air, with only a thin metal track and the cooperation of physics keeping its passengers from death...
She turned to look up at her mother.
"Don't look at him, okay?"
Kary with Eric:
(shorthand note) Eric's coming to look for her...
Dove gives him a worried look and hands him Leyla, and with her powers raring to go, they rush to the lobby.
She whispers (harshly), “Look me in the eye and tell me you've never abused your privilege to check on someone you care about."
“He's just worried about you, look at those eyes.”
[Untitled story re: Brother Blood]
Raven turned at the concern in his voice - she immediately recognized the look of shocked terror on Dove’s face and rushed to her side.
He chuckled at the fleeting look of realization in her eyes.
Something Special About Srentha:
And what seemed strangest to Dove was when he would walk down the hall looking determined, then he’d look dazed or weak, and he’d suddenly turn to go back to his room looking confused, and later on even worried, mumbling “What was I doing…?”
And Srentha sighed, seeing that knowing look in her eyes.
"You look so pale.”
(shorthand note) It's supposed to look like it's made from raven feathers or something.... and his hair is really scraggly.
Dove opened her eyes, to look up at him-- couldn't suppress the miserable whimper voicing the agony in her skull.
Only then did Srentha lift his head to look at her-- and she was surprised to see tears glistening in his eyes.
“You look disturbed."
"Teron, look at her power.”
He gave Dove a (conspiring?) look that sent a freezing chill down her spine.
“Look at each piece of the picture as its own existence within the whole, not in relationship to the other pieces of the image.”
"You look ill."
"Look into the eyes of your reflection.”
"Do I look like I can attempt escape?"
"Does it look like I want a history lesson?"
Maybe he wanted to see what her power could really look like.
“Their rituals don't look like that.“
It would look like he was studying the maps, if Nightwing didn't notice his closed eyes.
Something Strange About Srentha:
(shorthand note) Except she knows he’s lying, because there’s a look in his eyes she didn’t understand.
She pulled away to look him in the eye.
“Dove, look at me.”
(shorthand note) No appetite at all but she didn’t want to look weak…
“To show you where I had to look to find you.“
“ But, you didn't see him struggling so hard just to look around.”
Welcome to the Real World:
Dove could only look at him with her suffocatingly concerned eyes and tight-lipped worry.
And so he explained it to her, watching the old comfort revive the at-ease look in her eyes; she had always liked it when he could explain his workings, and thus distract her from things she couldn't really help...
“Like, you look at one and you get hives.”
(shorthand note) Tries to look okay.
Another pause to shove down the suffocating regret and bite back tears at the absolutely horrified, disbelieving, terrified look in her daughter's eyes - SHE was crying!
"Sathera," Dove begged, and Leyla obliged - they came together in an embrace, Dove holding her daughter close and comforting, cradling her head and rocking her body as she breathed with unnatural control over her sobs, forcing them back so she could look so much stronger for her child than she felt.
[Untitled one about Leyla’s 14th birthday]:
"Mmmm, she didn't look AWFUL.“
"We'll look after her," Srentha promised gently.
He blinked, stealing one last look and hoping to catch her eye... but Leyla kept them locked closed (still looking unsteady, her breaths were shaking, and she still looked really, really pale)...
Apparently Leyla couldn't speak yet, because she just blinked her still-watering eyes open, and tilted her head (just a very, very little bit) to look at her.
And when he got to her side, close enough to look at her face: his brow furrowed deeply and his heart knotted itself in his chest.
Dove lifted her head, to look up at him... and he cupped her face, gave her a kiss on her forehead, and pulled her into a close, gentle, reassuring embrace.
[Untitled story]:
Dove couldn't look her daughter in the eye. Couldn't even look AT her.
A Work of Magic: (I used “look” a lot in this one, probably because Mistress especially isn’t very talkative and thus I needed to describe her expressions to characterize her?)
Mismagius opened her mouth in protest just before the ball opened and Jess snapped it shut and held it closed against the ceaseless rattling for a few moments, needing to use both arms as it continued to blink, before letting it open again, and Mismagius materialized with a heated look of disdain.
Jess noticed but it didn’t register, and then a loud thunder clap made her look up.
Jess brings her up a bit so she could look outside – “Isn’t it beautiful?”
Says they should look for her, she’s been gone for too long now…
Jess glanced at Mistress – she had that usual look of resentment on her face.
Paul returns Weavile with a look of disgust and takes out Honchkrow.
“No wonder you look so relaxed,” Jess told the Mismagius.
There was always something about this forest that captured her heart every time she hovered among the dark trees… the way the thick trees off the path formed a natural maze had always brought a sense of safety and security, and even the path had a worn, natural look that didn’t disturb the forest’s magic.
His body had a more bluish tone than Missie’s, and the tips at the end of his head were so bright that they were almost florescent; the moon’s rays made them look phosphorescent, glowing, and his eyes were so vivid.
There was that look in her eyes… the same exact expression that she had been wearing so many times lately.
The Mismagius looked up into the trainer’s eyes, and the soft, comforting look in them made her feel even more unsure of the situation than ever before.
But her mother looked into her eyes, carefully… and then she glared, proclaiming that her daughter never had that look in her eyes.
Jess took the moment of silence as a chance to take a closer look at this girl: her hair was short, spiky, and colored blonde and blue; her eyes were a deep amethyst color, more black towards the center and a brighter shade of purple on the edges; and her outfit {{rewrite}}
“Well, I’ve read about it, {{ visited Mt. Silver via teleportation? Is that Kanto or Johto?), but I didn’t look very hard at the inter-region map.”
The Mismagius hovered and nudged Missie gently, causing her to look up, and then the larger ghost smiled reassuringly.
“I mean... Look at Mistress!"
“Look at her,” Jess said, and Mistress lifted her head slightly, just enough to show her blushing.
(shorthand note) Jess sighed with a look of slight disappointment and tells her that she shouldn’t go messing with people like that.
(shorthand note) (as they walk, Missie plays with Mistress and ends up cheering her up a bit, Trick leans onto her and rubs his head against her affectionately and spun upside down to look up at her.
“Not that they should be punished, they can’t help it, but if people are going to look down on you just because your chants mean bad luck, then that’s the equivalent of punishing a Pichu for not being able to store its electricity!”
“Hey, Jess look what I found!”
One final loud crack, and the glow suddenly brightened, Sonia stared deeply into the bright [purple] light for some odd reason, Jess quirked an eyebrow at her - then covered her eyes, Missie and Trick winced but refused to look away – still Mistress held her unmoving gaze, then the top pieces flared off and with a final flash of blinding light that made even Mistress flinch, the shell broke apart.
“It’s to help Mistress and Missie look great out there!“
(shorthand note) He has a bond with Mistress, and when she suddenly floats off with this annoyed look on her face and Dusk's right next to her, he KNOWS something's going on.
(shorthand note) Murky leads Jess to the spot and Jess walks in on them as Absol gains the lead, then she gasps and gets Sonia, says Mistress and Dusk are battling an Absol, and it doesn't look good!
“Hey, Sonia, look at this.”
(shorthand note) J looking up tips for contests on the internet/writing things down (Mistress hovering over her shoulder), and Jess narrates to her: charisma, show off best qualities, work with the things that make individual special, it helps if you pick your favorite or closest and think about what makes them so close to you, make them look good by bringing out their best characteristics, be creative and use attacks in unusual ways, make sure you work in harmony, remember that contest battles are all about making them look unique and not strong, the PKMN sometimes needs to be as creative and as able to improvise as the trainer, focus on bringing out the Pokémon’s best qualities...
(shorthand note) Jess sees a book on the shelf and asks if she could look through it, she just read something on the internet that she wanted to check out
“Besides simply being ghosts and thus able to defy the laws of physics, these amazing creatures have the ability to look far beyond our petty concerns and deeply into our souls, even deeper than most of us would allow our closest of friends to venture.”
(shorthand note) Get to know each other and look forward to our next meeting
But every time she tried to look closer, they vanished.
Until she saw Mistress pause, just in time to see the ghost look towards the source of the voices.
There was compassion in her, and Jess took one more look to the boys... and decided that, yes, they could use a good scare.
"I didn't know, they all look the same to me!"
Even after everything that happened, a part of her ached to see her very first trainer look so sad.
"And look how that turned out," Jess sighed.

Tumblr media
“Prince Zuko,” Your tone was sharper than a knife. “I challenge you to an Agni Kai,”
The words hung in the air, like smoke filling your lungs. You were close enough to smell his jamine scent and see the sweat above his brow. His golden orbs widened. As if he couldn’t believe what you’d just said. They held sorrow within and yet they dared to gift you with so much warmth. So different from his sisters eyes. “(Y/N)...,” You clenched your fists by your sides, making sparks fly. “Come on, fire prince. Teach me!”
Zuko raised his hands in surrender, stepping backwards. You’d transformed the teen into a scared little boy. “I don’t want to fight you,” he breathed. This time he was the one pleading for mercy. While his face showed a painful mixture of heartbreak and agony, yours remained furious.
“Funny,” you spat, disgust lacing your voice. Your heart suffered, seeing him like that, but your anger had it’s grip so tight around your throat that you were desperate to breathe again. And for that, only one solution remained. Zuko had to go. You were sick of him playing games with your feelings. “The last time i said that, you answered with something like this!” You delivered a kick through the air, flames following the motion. Zuko gasped, rolling sideways to escape your fire. “(Y/N)! Wait!” You could hear Aang panicking behind you, followed by the voices of Katara, Sokka and Toph, who all tried to talk you out of the fight.
“You can’t run from me forever, Zuko!” you yelled, when he took off. Following close behind, your rage didn’t fail you. Lashes of fire soon hidered his escape. “(Y/N), Stop it!” he screamed. His voice broke before he could say anything else. He stumbled and fell, barely missing one of your shots and covering his face. “You need to burn me to stop, remember?” He leaned on his hands, slowy getting back up. Your words seemed to hit him harder than your flames. “Do it!” You demanded, leaning forward and raising your hands.
Finally he responded, running up to you with a growl.
You prepared to dodge his onslaught, only to gasp, when you were caged by his arms instead. He held you in a tight grip. Tighter than your anger ever could. Your hands were trapped between you, body pressed against his. “I won’t fight you, (Y/N),” He whispered, lips residing right next to your ear. “Burn me if you must, but please don’t force me to hurt you again. Our first fight was painful enough,” Your breath hitched, but you didn’t stay unresponsive for long. Getting away seemed hopeless as you tugged and pulled on on him, trying to be freed.
“Let me go!” You hissed, banging your fists against his chest as much as you could. But his grip around you wouldn’t budge. Your whole being was enveloped by him. And your bottled up frustrations gushed out. All at once. “Let me go...” You hated how your voice shook and your eyes watered, as you slumped in his grip. “No,” he murmured, holding onto you. “I made that mistake one time and i’m not doing it again. I’m sorry that i hurt you. I was blind to choose the Fire Nation over my home. I still love you (Y/N). I’ve never stopped,”
Faint footsteps appeared behind you. Zuko pulled away when they reached the platform, taking a step back. You quickly wiped the few tears that had escaped from your cheeks. The fight didn’t end like you thought it would. It didn’t even end like an Agni Kai was supposed to end. You hadn’t thought that you would win. Though you had thought that you would beat him. And that it would give you some kind of clarity. Or satisfaction. But it didn’t. Not at all. It left you lonely. Empty. When Zuko hugged you, he seemed to have taken your anger with him. Only disappointment remained.
“(Y/N),” Katara came up behind you, putting a hand on your shoulder. “Are you okay?” You made an effort to put a smile on your face. You almost regretted that the anger had disappeared. It felt good to feel something again. Now there was nothing but vacancy. “I’m fine,” You turned your head around to her, grinning slightly. “Thanks, Katara,” Then you turned and went. Away from their worried looks and from the lover you once knew. In mere seconds you’d disappeared from their view, unable to hear Toph’s response to your answer. “She’s lying...,”
You spend the rest of the day alone, only returning to camp the next morning. The fact that Zuko was now part of the Team was a lot to take it. You mulled over it, time and time again. Innitially you’d wanted to leave. Turn your back on them all and be on your merry way. But the longer you thought about it, the more you realized that you couldn’t do it. You just couldn’t. Even the mere thought of leaving felt wrong. So you decided to stick with them. Leaving your friends wasn’t the right choice. And if that meant tolerating Zuko, then so be it. At least this way you could protect them, if he stabbed them in the back again.
Upon your return you spottet Zuko and Aang standing on the balcony of and upside down pagonda in the temple. The air bender was the first to recognize you, waving a hand. “Hey, (Y/N)!” He yelled, as you smirked giving him a wave of your own. “Do you want to watch us train? Maybe you can help!” You raised your brows, with a sideways glance at Zuko. “Uhm...,” As it turned out, you didn’t have much of a choice. The boy dragged you with him until you were seated on a large stone nearby. It provided the perfect view on the scene. You sighed, shifting in your seat, as Aang walked back to stand in front of his instructor.
“I know you’re nervous, but remember, firebending itself is not something to fear,” Zuko encouraged. Aang sighed heavily. “Okay. Not something to fear,” The prince nodded.
“But if you don’t respect it,” He raised his voice, leaning close to his students face. “It’ll chew you up and spit you out like an angry komodo rhino!” Aang yelped, but Zuko didn’t let him stray from his path. You raised a brow at his teaching methods, but decided to remain silent for now.
“Now show me what you’ve got. Any amount of fire you can make,” The Avatar nodded, inhaling nervously, before making a forward motion with his hand. A pitiful cloud of smoke appeared and died before any kind of spark could live. He looked back at his teacher with a sheepish look in his eyes. “Maybe I need a little more instruction. Perhaps a demonstration?”
Zuko agreed, spreading his arms. “Good idea. You might wanna take a couple steps back,” The boy did as he was told, giving the prince more room to occupy. He watched as the fire bender took a deep breath, preparing to guide the fire. With a strong punch through the air, he produced a tiny flame. Aang clapped his hands, applauding the display. But Zuko was appaled. “What was that? That was the worst firebending I’ve ever seen!”
“Usually it’s called a ‘failure’,” you said, crossing your arms. The Avatar, on the other hand, expressed his appreciation. “I thought it was ... nice,” He smiled slightly and shrugged. Zuko grunted, trying to firebend again, and again, and again. But each time the outcome seemed to get worse. He looked at his palms with furrowed brows. “Why is this happening?” Aang rubbed his head, trying to think of a solution. “Maybe it’s the altitude,”
His mentor looked back at him. “Yeah, could be,” Overcoming his innitial frustration, he kept trying, but the fire wouldn’t budge. Nothing he did seemed to work. “What is wrong with you?” You asked, getting agitated. “I don’t know!” He gave back with just as much force. Meanwhile his student had taken a seat on a broken pillar next to you and yawned, before he lied down. “Just breathe, and ...,” Zuko said to himself, delivering another blast with no improvement. “That one kind of felt hot,” Aang said, getting up. But it only managed to enrage his master even more. “Don’t patronize me! You know what it’s supposed to look like!”
“Sorry, Sifu Hotman,” Zuko raised his hands, groaning as Aang cringed. “And stop calling me that!” You raised a hand to your mouth to stiffle a giggle. That nickname would be remembered until the end of time. “(Y/N), maybe you can show him,” Blankly he stared at you, waiting for an answer. You briefly ginned at Aang. “Told you i was the better choice,” He laughed as you got up and stepped forward. Air filled your lungs as you took a deep breath, focusing all your attention on your bending. On the warmth that flowed within your veins. You delivered a kick into the air, expecting flames to shoot with the motion, but all that got out was a puff of smoke. You gasped, swirling around to the guys. “What...?” You tried to conjure a flame in your palm. A little one. Nothing too hard. But no matter how long you stared at your hand, nothing came from it. “What’s happening to me?” Zuko apparently recognized the panic in your voice and furrowed his brows. “Hey, i’m sure it’s going to be okay,” He raised a hand as if he wanted to place it on your shoulder to comfort you, only to draw back in the last second. “We just have to-”
“Hey, jerks! Mind if I watch you three jerks do your jerkbending?” Sokka interrupted, suddenly invading the field, walking towards the instructors and their pupil, while munching on an apple. The prince lashed his arm to the side, pointing to the other end of the platform. “Get out of here!” He dropped the half-eaten apple and surrendered. “Okay, take it easy. I was just kiddin’ around,” He got up and turned, adjusting his shirt in the process.
“Jerkbending, still got it,” He laughed, while Zuko dropped his head and groaned.
Losing your bending was scary. It was as if you’d lost a part of your identity. A part that made you who you were. No matter how often you’d tried to bend over the course of the day, it wouldn’t come back. Eventually, when the evening came, you busied yourself with feeding Appa, who happily chewed on his hay. Zuko leaded on a column not too far from you, arms crossed and lost in his thoughts. You wondered what he was thinking about. He didn’t seem as scared as you.
A few minutes passed, before he left.
“Listen everybody, I’ve got some pretty bad news,” Zuko stated, walking up to the campfire. “I’ve lost my stuff,” Toph raised both hands to her head, underlining her innocence. “Don’t look at me,” She stated, folding her arms. “I didn’t touch your stuff,” He lowered his gaze. “I’m talking about my firebending. It’s gone,”
The group stared at him silently, until Katara burst out laughing, claiming all attention for herself. You flinched upon the sound. At this point you couldn’t help but feel bad for him. It was only a tiny part of you that felt sorry, and you didn’t like it one bit. But truly? You and him were stuck in the exact same situation. The prince punished her with an annoyed expression, but it didn’t seem to faze her. ”I’m sorry. I’m just laughing at the irony. You know, how it would’ve been nice for us if you lost your firebending a long time ago.” Katara said. Zuko hesitated, trying to explain the situation. “Well, it’s not lost. It’s just ... weaker for some reason,” She held up her bowl of soup, glaring at him over the brim. “Maybe you’re not as good as you think you are,”
Toph smiled scarcastically. “Ouch,”
“I bet it’s because I changed sides.” Zuko said.
“That’s ridiculous.” Katara scowled at him, dismissing the idea.
Opposed to her, Aang gave it a thought. “I don’t know. Maybe it isn’t. Maybe your firebending comes from rage and you just don’t have enough anger to fuel it the way you used to,” Apparently, that was Sokka’s keyword. He leaned towards Zuko, pointing a finger. “Sooo, all we need to do is make Zuko angry. Easy enough,” He poked the fire bender with the hilt of his sword, hitting the head and waist several times.
"Okay, cut it out!” The prince growled, as Sokka grew more amused by the second. The boy stopped, as his sword slipped from his hands. “Look, even if you’re right, I don’t want to rely on hate and anger anymore. There has to be another way,” Zuko said, rubbing his nose. You walked through the pillars, coming to stand next to him. “I’ve lost my bending too,” You confessed, feeling lightheaded. Now the water benders features softened. The groups pitiful looks made you feel sick to your stomach. Like a confirmation that something was genuinely wrong with you. Sokka sat back down next to the eath bender, who spoke up next. “You’re gonna need to learn to draw your firebending from a different source. I recommend the original source,” She explained, stuffing food in her mouth. “How’re they supposed to do that‌? By jumping into a volcano‌?” Sokka asked, eyeing her excitedly.
“No. Zuko and (Y/N) need to go back to whatever the original source of firebending is,” Everybody listened closely, as she explained the impact of original sources on their benders. She, herself, had learned it from the badgermoles. The innitial earth benders. “They were blind, just like me. So we understood each other. I was able to learn earthbending, not just as a martial art, but as an extension of my senses. For them, the original earthbenders, it wasn’t just about fighting. It was their way of interacting with the world,” She grinned, focusing back on her meal.
“That’s amazing, Toph! I learned from the monks, but the original airbenders were the sky bison,” Aang leaned to the right, to get a glimpse at Appa eating his hay in the distance. “Maybe you can give me a lesson sometime, buddy,” He growled from the shed. “Well, this doesn’t help us. The original firebenders were the dragons, and they’re extinct,” Zuko sighed, looking at the group. “What do you mean‌? Roku had a dragon, and there were plenty of dragons when I was a kid,” You smiled at Aangs words. He was, still, very much a kid. Even if he was 112 years old. “Well, they aren’t around anymore, okay?” His counterpart yelled, making the Avatar recoil. “Okay, okay. I’m sorry,” He moved his arms in an appeasing manner.
“Maybe there’s another way. The first people to learn from the dragons were the ancient Sun Warriors,” You reminisced, walking towards a little fountain. Zuko’s stance lost some of it’s tension. Aang was quick to follow, coming up beside you. “Sun Warriors? Well, I know they weren’t around when I was a kid,” His teacher soon stood next to you, turning his head towards him. “No, they died off thousands of years ago. But their civilization wasn’t too far from where we are now. Maybe we can learn something by poking around their ruins,” Aang nodded. “It could be worth a try. It’s like the monks used to tell me. Sometimes, the shadows of the past can be felt by the present,”
“So, what?” Sokka spoke up behind you. You glanced at him over your shoulder. “Maybe you’ll pick up some super old Sun Warrior energy just by standing where they stood a thousand years ago?” Zuko nodded shortly.
“More or less. Either we find a new way to firebend, or the Avatar has to find some new teachers,”

Chapter 43
We came around a tree and two woman jumped up one woth long brown hair am d another with short blonde hair.
"You found us, okay? Here we are. We earned what we took." The girl with brown hair said.
I heard another twig snap and as me and Daryl went to turn around a man came up hitting both of us with a thick branch knocking us both out.
Daryls PIC
I opened my eyes to see it was dark out. There was a fire going with two woman and a man sitting on the other side of it. I started going in and out of consciousness. When I came to again I saw the woman with brown hair shoving my crossbow into a bag they were talking but I couldn't make out what they were saying. I ended up falling back into unconsciousness.
When I finally came to again the man was in front of me. "Hey, get up. Hey, get up" he said.
I was proped up against a tree MY hands tied in front of me.
"Where moving" The guy said point a gun at me. I just glared at him then it dawned on me Nikyla was with me.
"Where is she?" He growled.
"Where is who?" The guy asked.
"The girl! Where she is?! I'll kill ya if ya hurt her!" Daryl growled.
"She's fine she's over there" the guy said. I looked over where he was pointing to see Nikyla laying on her side still knocked out.
"You don't say shit and I won't have to" the guy told him.
"We ain't who ya think" Daryl told him.
"Say something else. Go ahead." The guy said pointing the gun at my head. He grabbed me by the front of my shirt and pulled me up to hmy feet.
"Follow them." He said.
"I ain't goin no where til she's awake" I said.
The man lead him over to you "get her up or I kill her" he told me.
I glared at him but knelt down. "Hey, Nik. Wake up" I said and nudged her with my tied hands.
"Hmmm" shehummed.
"Come on. Time to get up Nik." I told her.
She opened your eyes "Daryl?" She said.
"Yeah, it's me. I need ya ta get up" I said. She looked up at me and noticed my hand were tied. Her eyes widen and she shot up seeing a man with blonde hair and the two woman behind me. She looked down to see her hands were tied together as well.
I stood up helping her get up the best the I could. "It's gonna be okay" I told her. She stood up looking at him then at the blonde haired man, she walked over and started to walk behind the two woman.
"Here, drink the rest." The brown haired woman said handing the other girl a bottle of water.
"We should save it." The blonde woman said.
"We'll find some more. Drink. You're supposed to stay hydrated. It all works together." The brown haired woman told her.
"Yeah, it does." The girl said and drank the water. She handed the battle back and then the woman took it handing it to me "here take it" she said but I ignored her. The blonde guy took it walking over to me.
"We don't need you falling down. Drink." The guy said.
I took it walking over to Nick "here drink" I said.
She took the bottle drinking some of it and giving it back to me.I took it drinking the rest of the water.
"They find us, maybe we give you to them, they let us call it even. You see, we're reasonable people. Everybody's got their code. You feel you gotta kneel, that's fair enough. We don't." The guy said.
Nik looked at me mouthing "What the fuck?" I just shrugged my shoulders.
"let's go" the guy said taking the bottle and handed it back to the woman. He went to grab Nik but I wasn't having any of that.
"Don't touch her!" He growled.
"Come on" Isaid looking at her and she walked over to me and started to follow the two women.
"Who do you think we are?" Nik asked As we walked through the blackened burnt forest. No one answered and just kept walking. She were in front of me and behind the blonde girl.
"Can't believe were back" she said.
"Its not home anymore. But it's better then where we were" the brown haired girl told her.
"This is a pit stop. We pick up Patty nothing more than that." The guy says.
"How'dyou do it?" The blonde girl asks.
"You saw where I left the truck? We opened the valve and drove all the way in from Farmview Road. Ran from the tree line till we got to the pavement. Lit up a matchbook from the Sweetwater and dropped it in on the trail.
Then we just ran for the car. Got in and the dead ones were there. They were beating on the hood, and then-- and then boom! Knocked 'em on their asses and I took an axe to each one." The guy told her.
"Then we just watched it go up. No more moans, no more of that wailing. It was just the fire, just burning them all away." The brown haired girl said.
Nik and I listened looking around at the chard blackened burnt trees, forest floor and bodies.
"You did all this?" I asked.
"It was right at the start. Everything stopped-- the TV, the radio. We were here. The forest was full of them. And the other ones in town, they were drawn to it. They just walked right into the flames. We got most of them. Thought we ended it for us, and she was in DC. We thought everyone was fighting them wherever they were." The brown haired woman said.
"Yeah, we thought that was what everybody was doing. Fighting it. That we'd all win together. We were stupid." The guy said.
Nikyla and I stopped "Y'all don't think you're being stupid right now?" I asked.
The guy walked over to me putting the gun in my face. "Are you saying I should kill you? I mean it, are you gonna try and pull something on us? Are we just being thick here by not removing all doubt? Right now, by me not pulling this trigger, is that a mistake? I'm serious. I really wanna know. You made a choice to kill for someone else, to have them own you for a roof over your head and three squares, so maybe I'm not considering all aspects here. You tell me, am I being stupid?" The guy said.
I looked at him calmly you how ever were freaking out inside. "No. Look, I got somewhere to be. We can make a deal. We can help you out." I said.
"You're one of them. You're hurt and you're alone and you'd say anything. We should've never trusted you people to begin with." The guy said.
"Go on. Keep moving." He told the both of us. We kept walking until we were out of the burnt forest and came out to a small field to see a fence with rigs and walkers behind it.
"Son of a bitch." The guy said walking towards the fence with the two women. The walkers growled and slowly walked closer to the fence.
"Patty." The guy says.
"She could be..." brown haired girl started.
"No, she's gone.the guy told her. Nik and I just stood back watching them.
"Then we make another plan." Brown haired girl says.
"Yeah, we get out of here, that's the plan." The guy tells her.
"Then that's the plan." She says.
"You guys didn't have to do this for me." The blonde girl said.
"It was the right thing for all of us." The brown haired woman told her.
"This was the right thing? Even if just you guys went back now, if you just told them that it was me..." The blonde girl started.
"No, we'll find a way. Just think about it."
"No."
"Look, maybe we don't get as far, but we'll get--" the guy started when the blonde girl fainted.
"hey! Hey, hey, hey! Tina," they both said.
I grabbed the bag. "hey! Hey, baby sister, look at me." The brown haired woman said.
"Hey, stop! No!" The guy yelled standing up shooting at me and Nik as we took off.
"Don't! We need that, please!" The woman yelled.
Authors Note: If anything in the warning bothers you please do not read. I do not own The Walking Dead or it characters. I only own my characters that I make up. Something's may be out of order I'm going to try and follow the time line but It might change a little with the new character added. It starts in season 1 I like to start from the beginning. Please like, reblog, and comment if you like the story it really helps me get motivated to continue and helps me know what you'd like to see. And please if you like to read this as you feel free to do so. I understand some people my rather read as themselves I know I do sometimes. Thanking you for reading! ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
