So, that deja vu fic got me thinking.. and what if katsuki has a childhood friend (obvi friends w deku too) where he is always trying to impress her and class 1-a notices or ( if you’d like them older ) the agency notices and starts betting on when he’ll confess to her. turns out, she actually confesses first and everyone is happy (and slightly disappointed… nobody got their money) 😋😋
Also, when i saw the notification “@cashmoneyyysstuff started following you” i have never hit a follow back button so fast 😭🫶
Remember you’re amazing, take care of yourself, drink water, stay safe, and know that you are loved ❤️
WAAAA @itzjustj-1000 this is soo cute ! especially since katsuki being a loser n tryin to impress us instead of just confessing is honestly adorable. ALSO ALSO ur LITERALLY THE SWEETEST !! ur the loveliest it's a given i had to follow u !! i tried to honour ur request as best i could, i hope you like it ! also say it w me yall: WEEWOOO WEEWOOO CHILDHOODFRIENDS TO LOVERS ALEEEEEERRTTT (yall r forcing my hand atp (not that im complaining tho))
fem reader, katsuki is a whipped little loser, katsuki likes getting praised by reader but acts like he doesn't challenge (fails miserably), kaminari n sero are little shits, m*neta (he doesn't say anything creepy don't worry <3) everyone is in their 2nd year in this one. lemme know if i missed something else !

for as long as izuku midoriya could remember, you and kacchan have always been a packaged deal.
deku remembers all the way back in primary school, how kacchan would bend over backwards to impress you, spending his days trying to win your praise like he was collecting it. whether it be showing off how good his reading skills were, or showing off his newly acquired quirk to you at any given chance. (away from the eyes of the teachers, of course)
or even with silly things. like the time he showed you how long he could hold his breath underwater. it didn't matter, as long as he could show it off to you, he would.
deku remembers how pride would fill his childhood friends face, cheeks practically glowing and a smile basically reaching his ears. a simple "woooah, you're so cool kacchan !" had the boastful blonde giddy for the entire day, chest puffed out as he walked ahead of everyone, with you right next to him, of course. (you were the only one worthy enough to stand by his side after all)
and though he spent his time trying to win your praise, he also needed your attention constantly. katsuki constantly demanded your attention. he's the only one who's allowed to sit next to you in class, you're always the one he picks first when it's time to pick teams to play dodgeball. he's your partner for every project and you're the one who walks beside him when you and your friends go venture out in the woods to go out on your adventures. and even though they would usually take place in the park, katsuki always claimed he'd be the one to protect you if anything were to happen.
as kids, deku was probably the only one who noticed how hard katsuki tried to impress you.
and he's probably the only one to notice how he still does it now.
"sooo...kacchan totally has a thing for yn, agreed ?"
"mhm. definitely."
"yup."
"'m suprised you just noticed that now, kaminari...actually i'm not really suprised." jirou drawled, twirling one of her earphone jacks around her finger.
okay, so apparently he isn't the only one who noticed.
kaminari pouts "i noticed ! i noticed, like, ages ago !" he huffs into his folded elbows on the desk " i just wanted to see if you guys did !"
"you'd be stupid to miss it." sero cuts in smoothly. their grouchy homeroom teacher somehow ended up absent, leading to an impromptu free period. which in turn caused for loads of gossip he had somehow gotten roped into. kirishima, kaminari and sero were talking about you and katsuki, happily chatting off about something they couldn't hear from where they were sitting.
"maaaannn, bakugou's way too lucky, scoring such a pretty girl. what's he got that i don't ?!" kaminari whines. kirishima shushes him lightly, afraid to rouse the attention of a certain blonde they just so happened to be talking about
"now that i think about it.." sero wondered, leaning onto kirishima's shoulder "midoriya, you guys are childhood friends, right ? have they always been..." he cuts himself off, pointing over at you both with his chin for midoriya to look back. ".. like that ?"
you're chatting about something that's apparently funny or exciting, with katsuki listening along attentively, his head resting in his palm like he's admiring you. his full focus entirely on you, as it usually was.
you're using your hands a lot while you're talking and deku recognizes it as the thing you do when you've gotten to the juicy part of the conversation, deku almost wishes he could listen in, then remembers it's not good to be nosy and shakes the thought away. every once in a while katsuki interjects with a subtle smirk on his face and his remarks have you either giggling or playfully pouting at him unable to hide your smile. the playfulness in his heavy lidded red eyes remains at any reaction you give him, though. kacchan's worked on his poker face over the years but it seems he can't control himself when it comes to you.
izuku realizes he's been openly staring for too long and quickly turns back to look at sero who raises an eyebrow, awaiting a response.
izuku chuckles to himself "yeah, pretty much." he hums, playing around with the ends of his tie as he speaks.
"oooouu~" kaminari sings, suddenly lifting his head up from where it was hidden into his shoulder with a sudden burst of energy, startling kirishima. "juicy details about kacchan, i'm in !"
"i don't know if it's exactly 'juicy'" izuku sweatdropped, chuckling awkwardly. "but kacchan and yn have always been really close. when we were younger, kacchan would always be seeking out yn's attention. he'd be really possesive..or protective over her, i guess ?—it was all pretty harmless though." he recounted, smiling softly at his childhood memories nostalgically pouring into his mind.
both kirishima and sero let out quiet hums when he finishes while denki simply pouts "s'not as juicy as i thought it would be" he huffs petulantly, receiving a knock on his head from jirou who hisses a "he told you that, idiot"
kirishima places his head into the palm of his hands and sighs dreamingly "man, that's so cute. bakugou's been a major softie for yn for so long.." he clenches his fist and izuku thinks he sees a little tear in his eye "so manly !" he exclaims through his sharp teeth.
"yeah, i don't know if 'manly' is the word i'd use to describe someone who's been whipped for so long and still doesn't have the balls to confess" sero ribbed, snickering to himself with denki joining in shortly after.
"hey, don't be assholes !" jirou shot "i think it's kinda cute y'know ? not really..manly..but—cute." she said.
"how much you wanna bet he's not gonna confess until graduation?" kaminari challenged.
"wouldn't put it past 'im." a voice suddenly chimes in. the five of them all turn their heads left, right then down at the voice that came from none other than mineta, who had somehow wormed his way into the conversation.
"and what the hell do you think you're doing sneaking into our conversation, freak" jirou sneers, glaring down at mineta who had already dragged his chair over, including himself into the group.
mineta decides to ignore jirou as he places his arms onto the desk seriously like he's imitating some type of mafia don. " bakugou's never gonna confess any time soon, he's too much of a pussy" he waves off nonchalantly "i bet he won't even have done it by the time we've finished school ! "
" and i bet you wouldn't say that to his face !" kaminari guffaws and the purple haired boy sputters. izuku can't hold back his grin as he watches them bicker.
" kacchan's always been pretty..sure of himself" he settles "i don't think it'd take him that long to confess" he guessed, pressing his thumb onto his chin "though maybe the fact that he's so sure of himself could hold him back.."
ah, there he goes again.. the rest of them thought as they watch midoriya babble on and on into theory land.
denki suddenly slams his fists on the desks, startling everyone. he sucks in a breath "alright ! i bet a thousand yen and the entirety of my lunch box that bakugou won't confess by the end of this year !" he exclaims, not too loud but loud enough so everyone in the group could hear him.
"oooouu~ what're we betting on ?" mina chimes in, suddenly appearing behing jirou and in turn startling her. she flashes her a little glare causing the pink haired girl to offer a weak apology and a hug.
"kaminari just bet a thousand yen and his lunch that bakugou won't confess to yn by the end of this year" sero smirked, clearly enjoying the drama
" ou, that sounds fun ! lemme join in too !" the pink skinned girl pleaded giving her best puppy eye and pout combo.
"sure ! just don't come cryin' to me when you lose" kaminari agrees, playfully jabbing at his friend.
"this is so stupid. i'm not betting money on this.."jirou scoffs rubbing at her temple. "c'moooonnn, don't be chicken, jirou ! " denki whines
"mhmm, c'moonn jirou give into peer pressure !" mina joins in, wrapping her arms around the purple haired girl and swaying her side to side.
jirou groans before finally conceding "..five hundred yen. that's all you're getting from me." she concludes sourly crossing her arms.
" i'm gonna go with kaminari's and say his balls won't drop 'till graduation" sero says simply, smirking almost mischieviously at the display of sudden chaos. he looks a little too pleased, izuku sweatdrops.
"i'm not betting on my bro, that's so unmanly." kirishima refused " i say just let them go at their own pace" he finishes, receiving a nasty look from his chaotic classmates.
needless to say kirishima gave in to peer pressure soon after, offering a modest 1,100 yen by this summer for his friend to confess.
"well i stand on what i said, i don't think he has the balls to say it at all. and i put that on all the money in my pockets ! " mineta proudly spoke.
"how much is that, like, one fruit roll-up ?" mina deadpanned, not missing a beat causing the group to erupt in laughter. mineta's objection's falling on deaf ears.
meanwhile, katsuki notices you've stopped talking all of a sudden. it takes him by surprise as you were so into it a minute ago. "what's up ?" he asks. his question snaps you out of your trance and you jump slightly, turning back to look at him "oh , nothing ! they just seem to be having fun " you gasp, a smile crawling up on your face as you look back at your friends having a good time.
katsuki on the other hand has a slight pout forming on his face, displeased at how his loud mouthed friends distracted you from your conversation. and from him he thinks, but that makes him feel like a snot nosed little kid again and his expression turns even more sour.
"tch. the fuck are those losers so loud for" he grumbles under his breath. you catch it though, and you giggle. his eyes brighten and his brows unfurrow the slightest bit when he hears it.
"don't be such a buzzkill katsu, s'not their fault you're no fun." you jest, chuckling to yourself when he scowls at you.
"fuck off ! m'not a buzzkill" he rolls his eyes, huffing indignantly "an' i'm plenty of fun" he finishes grumpily. you laugh a little more, covering your mouth with your hand when you catch a peak of him narrowing his eyes at you making fun of him. he simply rolls his eyes and sighs, shaking his head. he'll let it slide, he always does with you.
"right, right. my apologies, sir dynamight" you chuckle, bowing slightly at him, he huffs out a laugh "that's sir lord explosion murder god dynamight to you" he snorts. you throw your head back and laugh and katsuki feels the same pride he used to feel when he'd found something cool to show you back when you were brats. his stomach feels fuzzy and his head feels clouded the way it used to when you'd offer him your big, bright sparkly eyes and a "you're so cool kacchan !"
god, it never failed to remind him how much of a whipped loser he was for you.
and unfortunately still is.
you scoot your chair a little closer to his and katsuki has to use all of his might not to blush at the sudden proximity, as miniscule as the distance between you both was to begin with.
"well okay then, sir lord explosion murder god dynamight" you say rapidly, laughing to yourself. katsuki let's out a breathy chuckle, it's cute. he's cute. " i'm sure it doesn't mean much, but i at least think you’re plenty fun to be around"
katsuki feels his heart skip a beat too many.
you whisper, like it's a secret. you're in your own little corner while all your classmates are chatting away yet you say this to him like it's something between you and him. batting your eyelashes up at him. god, it's like you're out to kill him and honestly katsuki thinks for a second he wouldn't mind dying by your hand.
he's such a whipped loser.
he can't think straight. you're sitting so close to him, you're lips are glossy from that lip gloss you always have on you. you smell nice, katsuki feels like a creep for smelling you like you aren't a breath away from him.
"yeah, well.." he utters lowly. he licks his lips, feeling himself grow dizzy as he watches you watch the movement intensely and swallows. his adam's apple bobs and he can feel himself blushing like an idiot. " i don't think you're all that bad either" the end of his sentence comes out a little breathy, he barely realizes he's speaking. like his body is deciding for him, he doesn't mind much.
you give him a sweet little smile and your eyes shine like stars and you look up at him like he's everything, like he's the coolest. he wants you to look at him like this all the time.
you suddenly lean in and kiss him, right next to his lips, just at the corner. it lasts for about 0.3 seconds but katsuki feel his entire body exploding from the inside like he's let off his quirk onto himself.
"i take it back actually" you start "you're super cool to be around, kacchan." you whisper bashfully. katsuki huffs out a little laugh once his heart had stabilized itself a little bit, a small smile growing on his face—
" AW MAN? WHAT THE HELL ?!"
you both turn to the sound of your electric classmate, sporting a little pout on his face. proceeding to get dog-piled on by your other classmates surrounding him, causing him to let out whines and moans of complaint.
"i-ignore him !" mina waves off nervously "just keep doin' what you were doin !— i mean, we weren't watching or anything !" she splutters.
"nice one." jirou deadpanned sarcastically, rolling her eyes. "look, we don't mean to pry or anything, but who kissed who first ?"
at that, katsuki's cheeks flare up, turning a damn near violent shade of pink. he's about to yell obscenties at his classmates, about to tell them it's none of their business when-
" i did !" you giggle, a cat-like grin on your face
"you sneaky fuckin minx-" katsuki growls, shoving his index fingers into your sides and you let out a squeal mixed with a giggle. you're quickly drowned out by your classmates releasing a group groan, with sero and kaminari yelling and booing at katsuki, who in turn starts threathing them, his hands crackling and popping.
you don't exactly know what's happening, but you can't help but feel extremely joyful and happy.
"soo.." mineta starts "since i said bakugou wouldn't confess first doesn't that technically mean i-"
" IN YOUR DREAMS ! "

Distracted
Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
You're a friend of Robin's whose been in his world peripherally for a while. Like you've gone to the same parties and you've hung out at Family Video and seen him when he brought the teens in to see Steve after Hellfire sessions. You've only hung out in groups and your conversations, though extremely flirty, have been pretty surface level.
But you've got a thing for the quirky metalhead. Not only is he a fucking babe, but he also seems genuinely sweet and is very funny. When you bring this up to Robin, however, you aren't prepared for how she lights up, telling you that Eddie's been asking about you, too. Ever the matchmaker, Robin pushes you into a plot that makes it so that you and Eddie end up alone at his place on a Saturday night (initial group plans are bailed on last minute by all the teens who were threatened within an inch of their life not to actually show up).
Eddie seems unfazed by this turn of events and takes it in stride, cracking open a six pack for the two of you to share and throwing on a horror movie.
"If you want to bail, too, that's cool," he lets you know, even as you plop down beside him on the couch, beer in hand. He's got a self-deprecating smile on his face. "I'm sure hanging out alone with the town freak wasn't exactly on your agenda this week."
"Don't presume to know my agenda, Munson," you tsk, feigning a frown that is already curling around the edges into the smile you can't suppress. "You know how type A I am. I won't have you questioning my to-do list."
You apply the innuendo lightly, but the way his eyebrow quirks lets you know that it lands as you'd intended. Eddie runs his tongue over his teeth while appraising you.
"I wouldn't dare get in the way of your efficiency, sweetheart." There's a dare in his eyes, but you lean back against the couch and watch him over the top of your bottle as you take a sip. You've got time.
As the night goes on, the two of you drink and laugh and tease one another. One movie ends and he puts on the sequel immediately. Some slasher where kids are running around screaming in the woods. The two of you discuss what your own strategy would be if you found yourselves in a similar situation. At this point, you're feeling loose and floaty - combination of the alcohol and the sound of Eddie's laughter. It's got bubbles fizzing in your bloodstream. Your bodies have shifted closer on the couch as time has gone on, and as he emphatically describes something, his hand comes down to press onto your knee. Seemingly just as a matter of emphasis and to ground your attention in his point, but you notice that his hand doesn't lift up when he finishes his monologue.
A thrill of possessive pleasure runs through your body at the realization.
"You know, you'd probably die somewhere around the halfway point of the movie," you challenge suddenly and Eddie's eyebrows shoot up in surprise.
"I'm sorry, princess, but what?!"
"You know because you're all..." you gesture to his body. The denim vest he's still wearing over his band tee even though he's relaxing at home. The tattoos. The heavy rings on the hand that's still resting on your knee. His fingers flex against your skin when you point at them.
"I'm a badass, you mean? What about my badassery makes you think I'm dying at all?"
"The cool guys always die at the midpoint," you argue. "They get distracted having sex with the hot girls and that's when the killer guts them." Exactly as you say this, as if the universe is trying to bolster your argument, a young man on screen is stabbed through the back mid-thrust, falling down bloody upon his shrieking lover. You glance away from the screen and back at Eddie with a satisfied smirk. "Case in point."
"All I got from that is the fact you think I'm cool," Eddie says with a smug smirk. You roll your eyes at him but shift a bit closer.
"I also said you'd die fucking a bimbo."
"No, you said I'd die fucking a hot girl," he corrects, also shifting infinitesimally closer.
"Oh, so you were listening," you tease. Your hand rests on top of his hand on your knee and you start fiddling with his rings.
"Yeah, and I guess that means you should be concerned," he says flippantly, his fingers splaying out on your knee so that yours have more space to move between them. You're now distracted by the attention you're focusing on his hand.
"Why should I be concerned?"
"Because the hot girl getting fucked by the cool guy dies next," he says, nodding his head towards the tv you had all but forgotten about just as a young woman running topless through the woods, her breasts swinging and covered in her dead boyfriend's blood, is cut down by the killer. You both laugh.
"All I got from that is the fact you think I'm hot," you say turning back to him and mimicking his prior comment. His face lights up with a grin.
"Guilty as charged, sweetheart."
The moment feels right. The electricity between the two of you is palpable and you lift his hand up off your knee and towards your lips.
"They only get got, though, because they get distracted," you posit, pressing a kiss to each of Eddie's rings. His eyes are trained on your lips, his own parted to let his suddenly shallow breathing pass through. "Do you think you could keep from getting distracted?"
"Uh...yeah," Eddie says, running his tongue over his bottom lip. "Yeah I'm sure I could stay focused. Vigilant."
"Oh yeah?" you ask, smiling at how he's already so distracted. Suddenly you're lowering his hand and bringing it to the top of your thigh, right at the hem of your skirt. He takes a sharp inhale. "What's that? Losing focus?"
"No. Never, sweetheart," he says with a laugh, though it's shaky. Without even losing a beat his fingers flex in your hand, the pad of his thumb caressing at the skin of your thigh that he's never touched till now.
"What about now?" you ask, abruptly pushing his hand up your skirt to rest on your clothed pussy.
Before you can even process the next heartbeat, Eddie is on you. His mouth is capturing yours in a soul searing kiss and you can't help but gasp into him. Taking in his taste and scent all at the same heady time. Your hand abandons his on your mound and you bring your arms up around his neck to pull him as close to you as possible.
"If I die, I fucking die,” Eddie practically growls against your lips. “Distract me, baby.”
You laugh but he dips his head down to nips at your collar bone and it turns into a moan. Eddie’s hand starts rubbing blindly at your slit through your panties and you find your hips moving against his fingers of their own accord.
“Do horror movies turn you on?” Eddie teases. You bite your lip and shake your head, looking him dead in the eye.
“No, you turn me on, Eddie Munson.”
Suddenly you’re being pushed back down against the couch. The abruptness of his manhandling has you squealing and you lock your arms around his neck, being sure to keep him close and bringing him down with you.
His kiss arrests your lips again, his tongue invading your mouth. It’s everything you ever wanted. It’s what you’d imagined each time you’d watched him from the other side of a party or listened to him joking around with your mutual friends.
All of his attention. All of his focus on you.
What you don’t realize is that it’s always been on you. At those parties and those hang outs, as much as you’d watched him, he’d been watching you. Learned to love your smile and how quick you were to laugh. Catalogued your stories in the back of his mind as you told them to a riveted audience of all the teens.
He’s finally getting to touch you the way he’s always wanted. And it’s working him up faster than he’d like to admit.
You shift on the couch and it gives him more room to slot his body between your opened thighs. When his hard, denim-covered bulge presses against your thigh, your hips buck, pushing up into the palm which has been applying pressure to your pussy.
“Remember that agenda?” You ask with a tremor in your voice. His hand slips under the elastic of your panties, fingers making direct contacted with your slick core for the first time. You both groan.
“Um…yeah.” He says, shaking his head as if to clear it in order to comprehend your words. The tip of a finger circles your clit before sliding down to push into your hole. You gasp. “Your to-do list.”
“You’re at the top,” you gasp out.
There’s a moment where a Eddie doesn’t react. He’s so focused on pumping his finger in and out of your tight pussy, feeling you around him. Watching your chest rise and fall. But when your words make sense he throws back his head and let’s out a bellowing laugh. His laugh makes you laugh and then you’re shaking in one another’s arms. Trying to calm down. The shared vibrations of your joint hysteria seeming to wreak havoc on all of your nerve endings.
Eddie lunges forward and begins sucking at your neck and the tops of your breasts exposed by your low neckline. Just as he adds another finger to your pussy.
“I can be efficient, too, you know,” he says before worrying your skin between his lips.
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“Can you be efficient with your shirt off?” You ask, fingers scrabbling at the hem of the garment. Eddie sits up quickly and yanks the shirt off with unnecessary, theatrical aggression, tossing it away as if it’s offended him. You reach out and trace the tattoos on his chest and he moves to lower himself back over you.
“Mmm, cool guy,” you hum, your fingers passing delicately over his inked skin. Eddie quickly unbuttons your blouse and pulls it open, gazing hungry down at your bra-clad breasts.
“Hot girl,” he responds, pressing his face juvenilely between your tits. You grasp at the hair at the back of his neck and laugh until you feel him beginning to suck on you. Then your hips are rolling into his hand. The hand that’s started to fuck you in earnest. “You look like you’re more distracted than me right now, sweetheart. Maybe you’ll be dying before me after all. That petite mort, huh?”
You’re laughing and gasping all at once. His French accent is atrocious but he’s referencing a conversation you’d had with him and Robin about orgasms the week prior. You hadn’t thought he’d been paying attention since he’d been half in argument with Steve at the time, but now you know otherwise.
“You we’re listening to that? Was - fuck - pretty sure you were focused on whatever Harrington was saying.”
“I’m always focused on you, sweetheart.”
You feel heat creeping through your body as fondness mixes with arousal. You’re impatient and you both push and pull at him all at once.
“Ok I just need you to fuck me, ok? Can we jump to that?”
“Nuh uh, I’m making you cum first.” His thumb presses harder circles into your clit and you cry out. But you shake your head dramatically side to side.
“No I want you inside me now.”
“That’s a bit pushy of you, isn’t it?” Eddie teases, but as he does so he eases his fingers out of you and brings them up to lick off your slick. You’re already unbuckling his belt and pushing down his jeans.
“No, I’m efficient. Type A, remember?” His cock springs free of his boxers and you’re ready to drool. He’s practically edible, and if you weren’t so fucking on the edge right now you’d swallow him while immediately.
“How could I forget,” he responds, voice full of gravel as he grabs his cock and pumps one twice. You lay back against the couch, legs splayed and waiting for him, divesting yourself of your bra and cupping your breasts to keep yourself worked up. “Fuck you’re a pretty picture.”
“Gonna just stare or are you gonna do something, Munson?”
“See? Pushy,” he says, even as he lowers himself on top of you and pushes his tip right into your entrance.
The teasing stops as you both come together with rolling hips and gasping breaths. His thrusts are hard and definitive and you find yourself holding on for dear life. He feels so good and right and heavy and strong and you’re so close so soon.
“Eddie…Jesus Christ I’m…” your eyes are squeezed shut and he kisses your eye lids, paradoxically sweet when juxtaposed with the harsh way he’s pounding into you.
“You gonna cum, baby?” He asks, and there’s playful mocking in his tone. If you couldn’t feel his muscles shaking, proving he is equally close, you would have felt more shame.
“Y-yeah…gonna cum.” You admit it on a whine. He feels so good and then suddenly his finger is between you, swirling over your clit again.
“Already? I guess that’s efficient of you,” he says and you clench hard when you laugh, making him let out a loud moan.
“Stop - fuck! You can’t clench like that,” he admonishes.
“Stop making me laugh then, asshole,” you say with no bite. He, however, bites your neck and laves his tongue over the skin.
“Mmmm, you’re sexy when you’re mean.”
You’re not sure what does it - his thrusts, his finger on your clit, his teasing - but one moment you’re rolling your hips into his and the next you’re writhing beneath him, cumming harder than you ever have before. You practically black out calling his name, so much so that you don’t even notice when he cums along right after you.
You come back to your senses to find him still inside you, trailing kisses up and down your throat and chest. You take a deep shuddering breath and grip weakly at his back.
“You gotta get up,” you say, pushing weakly at him with not intent behind the motion. Eddie shakes his head and buries it into your neck.
“Never.”
“I gotta get up and cross you off my checklist.” You tease with a breathless laugh which he returns.
“You can’t. We were so distracted the killer got us. We’re dead, remember?” His grin is so wide one of your trembling hands lifts automatically to trace his dimples.
“Fuck. The downside to being cool and hot is pretty disproportionate to the upside.”
“Speak for yourself,” he snorts, letting his hand come up to cup your jaw. “I’m staring at a pretty big upside.”

pairing: y/n and chris sturniolo
summary: you and chris came from two different sides of the spectrum when it came to the social scale. You had the perfect life, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect parents, but when you start to peal back that layers things got messy. Your life was set and stone, your future was set and stone. That was until he comes and changes everything.
warnings: MENTIONS OF BEING ROOFIED! panic attacks, mentions of therorectically being taken advantaged of (Not in detail it doesn't actually happen!!!), mentions of a funeral and losing a loved one, mentions of death.
Something was wrong, really wrong. I felt like I had just drank an entire bottle of vodka but not a drop ever touch my lips. My vision was going in and out, but I was approaching Chris’s house.
Focus.
Just focus.
I closed my eyes to regain my sense of vision before shaking my head and taking a breath. I walked up to the gate before pushing it open. Friday night? Chris had to be outside by the fire.
I stumbled into the backyard before glancing around. The fire wasn’t lit and there was no sign of Chris. “Fuck” I felt my eyes water. I’d walked all the way here and there was no way I could walk all the way back.
I took a breath falling into one of the chairs by the unlit fire. I put my elbows on my knees and pressed my face against my hands.
Why do I feel like this?
Why can’t I focus?
Why do I feel plastered?
Something’s was wrong.
Where’s Chris?
I felt the tears burn at my eyes as I lifted my head. I leaned back looking towards the woods behind his house and I froze.
His place.
I stood up before walking towards the woods. He had to be there, where no one would find him. I just hope he’s okay.
I pushed into the woods, dodging branches and leaves and I walked. Just trying to push them out of the way, but I felt one scrape my arm, drawing blood.
“Fuck” I cursed as I looked down at my arm, moving my finger over the cut. I looked up to the clearing. Chris’s long shaggy hair hung low as he looked off to the stream.
I swallowed as I stepped forward. I looked down at him, slightly relieved that he was here. But also a burning in my chest thinking, Why didn’t he come?
“Chris?” My weak voice spoke. He didn’t speak as he looked down. I just stared at him before loosing my footing slightly but regaining my balance.
That caught his attention.
He glanced up at me.
I blinked down at him. “Why didn’t you come?” I whispered looking down at him. He just looked at me. “You’re drunk” He stated looking back down at his feet. I blinked at him.
I wasn’t drunk, I hadn’t had a sip of an alcohol the entire night. I sat down next to him. “I told you I don’t drink” I mumbled as I looked off the the stream, blinking, it slightly going blurring.
He stayed silent next to me as I waved in and out of consciousness, blinking over and over just trying to focus. He mumbled something next to me.
“Y/n?” His voice rang. My head turned and I raised my eyebrows. “You aren’t even listening” He mumbled shaking his head. I swallowed feeling tears weld at my eyes.
“Chris, I’m-I’m trying” I said shaking my head looking at him. He didn’t know how hard I was trying. It took every last drop of energy to get here. Focusing on what he was saying when I felt like I was going to pass out was making me panic.
And I didn’t know why.
I placed my hand to my chest.
“Chris” I whispered. He glanced over to me. I swallowed.
“Something’s wrong” My voice broke
Chris pov
“Something’s wrong” Her small voice cracked. I stayed looking at her as her vision was trained in front of her, her hand pressed to her chest. I just stared at her.
She closed her eyes whining.
“Y/n? What’s wrong? Did you take something?” I asked quickly seeing she wasn’t kidding. Something was definitely wrong. She shook her head as she squeezed her eyes shut.
“—Can’t see” she choked her eyes fluttering.
My fight or flight mode struck agaisnt me.
“She’s dead”
I stared at her dad in the face. Not moving, not blinking, not thinking. My mom’s arms came around me. I just stared at Rose’s dad’s teary eyes.
“Overdose” He choked. I didn’t feel it, but I felt wetness against my cheek indicating I was crying, but I couldn’t feel anything. I felt like I couldn’t even feel the oxygen trying to come through in my lungs.
My eyes glanced over to the hospital doors. The hospital that layed the dead body of my girlfriend. And there was nothing I could do.
I’d never felt so broken or so helpless in my life.
“You-You didn’t drink anything? Take any pills? Anything?” I said grabbing her shoulders. She whined as her body fell limp against mine.
“Y/n, answer me” I said loudly as I shook her shoulders as her head moved back and forth. I swallowed the lump in my throat.
“Sprite” She mumbled her eyes closing. I shook my head looking at her. “Y/n, k-keep your eyes open for me. Please.” I said my eyes filling with tears.
She mumbled incoherently to me, her arms falling limp. “Sprite that’s it? That’s all you had?” I questioned, holding her up. She whined as she laid there, helpless.
That’s when it hit me.
She was roofied.
My veins lit on fire.
My jaw hardened.
“Y/n, who gave you the sprite?” I said down at her. She looked as if she was asleep. She hummed. I took in a breath before standing up and then bending down and picking her up in my arms.
She whined and pressed her face into my chest. I held her close to me as we walked out from the woods.
I could feel her breaths against me. It made me feel better knowing she was just out of it, but alive. I hugged her closer to me as the thoughts ran through my head.
“Didn’t come” She mumbled. I looked down at her. “What?” I whispered. “The one person I wanted” She whispered. I swallowed as guilt ran down my veins.
I hated my mind. It was one of things I hated most about myself, along with the long list of other things. I hated the way I acted, I hated the things that I said, the way I acted. The way I let my mind consume me. All of it.
I just didn't think I could have handled knowing that she loved me while seeing her with someone else. It would have killed me. It would have made me do things I regret.
Last night after the painful walk home knowing that it was starting again. The horrible gut wrenching game of love.
Two people falling in love, it's suppose to be beautiful. It's suppose to be the happiest time in your life, but it never was for me. Love had never bought me anything but pain.
My heart was too big, my heart would get to into it. I would put my soul into the person I love, whether they knew it or not. In one case, Rose knew it. She knew it all too well. In this case, she doesn't. Y/n doesn't know. The last thing I possibly wanted to do was tell her.
I hated the situation I was in. I absolutely hated it. Sleeping alone every single night staring up at ceiling, wondering when she was going to break up with him. Knowing there was someone else, was something my mind wasn't prepared for.
I thought I was. Looking into her eyes as she peered up at me, kissing me like I was the only one. Was enough for me to rule out the sleepless nights and heart wrenching questions, just to have her.
The worst part about it was if I could go back, I would agree to it over and over and over.
That's what I hated most about myself.
I pushed my backdoor open, her in my arms as we walked through the living room. I thanked the lord that my grandpa wasn't sleeping on the chair in the living room tonight, because I had no idea how I was suppose to explain this one.
I sighed as I walked down the hallway and into my room, pushing the door open. She whined in my arms and twitched around. I looked down at her scrunched face. She lunged forwards slightly. Shit.
I pushed my bathroom door open, placing her onto her feet, but her knees bent and she fell against the ground. "Shit Y/n" I said I grabbed her arm before her head hit the ground.
She started to gag again before lunching forwards starting to throw up
She clenched forwards grabbing the toilet before throwing up lifelessly against it, slightly missing it and puking on herself. I swallowed as I pulled her hair back.
I was deathly afraid of throw up.
I turned my head as she puked, breathing in. She groaned leaning back before falling against me, as if she barley had control over her limps. I froze as she laid on me, I closed my eyes.
She started to cry which made me open my eyes.
"I hate-" She mumbled. I blinked down at her. "You hate what?" I whispered. Tears streamed down her cheeks. "My life" She cried. My heart broke as I looked at her. Her makeup, once perfectly done, now smeared across her face. On her birthday.
I felt a lump in my throat.
Focus.
"Y/n, I have to get you out of these clothes" I whispered pushing her hair behind her face. She let out a breath, unable to move. I grabbed the bottom of her shirt before lifting it off her head, careful not to get any of the puke on me or on her.
I threw the shirt in the trashcan in my bathroom as she started to shake from the cold air around us. I hooked my arms under legs as I stood up and carried her out of the bathroom. She didn't react, didn't move as I carried her.
I laid her across my bed, and her head fell back and her arms laid lifeless.
I looked down at my feet.
Imagines of Rose's funeral shot through my head. I took in a breath as I sat down next to her. I shook my head as I placed my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath as tears filled my eyes.
She looked like Rose. As lifeless as she was.
I shook my head trying to focus, trying to wipe the horrible thoughts from my brain but I couldn't breathe. My breathing was in and out and I was way too aware of my heartbeat.
Y/n's okay.
She's breathing.
She's alive.
She's not going to die, Chris.
But I couldn't even look at her.
The worst realization of the night was this moment. Because I knew that losing Y/n would feel the same as it felt to lose Rose. That scared me more than realizing that I was in love with her.
I wiped my face.
You're stronger than this Chris. You're stronger than your thoughts. You need to calm down, breathe. I stood up walking over to my desk before pulling out a pill bottle and pulling it open.
I hadn't needed this in a while. The panic attacks don't come as often anymore. Not since the first year moved here. I pulled out a pill and swallowed it, leaning against the desk just trying to calm down.
I hated taking these, they made me tired. They numbed me, but I guess that was a better feeling than feeling like my heart was going to beat out of my chest.
I took in a breath holding it in for a few seconds, like my therapist taught me all those years ago. The one my parent's sent me to before they gave up and sent me to live with my grandpa. I let it out.
This can't be happening right now, you need to be helping Y/n.
Like you couldn't do with Rose.
I looked up at the ceiling. No, no, no. Don't think like that. You're stronger than these thoughts. Control them.
"Chris"
I snapped my head towards the bed. Y/n was turning over, her eyes closed. I walked over to the bed. "Yeah?" My voice broke. She swallowed. "Cold" She cried. I blinked at her before nodding.
Chris fucking focus.
"Okay" I swallowed leaning over her. "I'm gonna get you changed okay?" I said looking down at her face. She let out a breath and nodded. I nodded back as I leaned down to her feet, pulling off her shoes.
What would have happened if she didn’t come here?
I clenched my jaw as the thoughts ran through my head of the possibilities as she laid unmoving beneath me.
The thought of someone taking advantage over her made the panic attack fade away and anger run cold through my veins.
I looked up at her. "I'm gonna take your jeans off and get you some sweatpants and a sweatshirt is that okay?" I asked softly. She hummed, her eyes remaining closed. I tried to shake the angry thoughts.
I hated that this happened, but it always did. Every single emotion I've ever felt always turned into anger. I reached up unbuttoning her jeans and pulling them down. She barley moved.
"If anyone ever hurt you I would put them six feet in the ground" I said quietly. She didn't respond, as I pulled her jeans off. I stood up walking over to my drawers and pulling out a pair of my sweatpants and a sweatshirt before walking back over to her.
I reach down, wiping the mascara under her eyes, she didn't react. I sighed as I pushed the sweatshirt over her head and pulled it over her body. She hummed and hugged her arms together.
I moved her legs before pulling the sweatpants over her body and pulled the covers down and pulled her legs under them, before pulling the covers up to her chin.
She rubbed her head against the pillow as her mouth fell open and breathed softly. I just watched her as she so easily drifted into her sleep. I moved my hand over her head softly.
"Why did you have to fall in love with me too?" I whispered softly.
Y/n pov
I groaned as I woke up. Wow, I feel awful. My mouth tatses--
I froze when I saw a pair of blue eyes staring down at me. My body stiffened when I realized where I was. I swallowed as I glanced down to my clothes. Not my clothes. I looked up at him.
His knees pulled to his chest, staring down at me with dark bags under his eyes. Saying nothing. I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
"Who gave you the sprite?”
I glanced up at him and furrowed my eyebrows. "How did I-"
"Y/n" He stated cutting me off, his eyes boring into mine. I swallowed. "Who gave you---" He said raising his eyebrows. "The sprite" He finished coldly. I swallowed as memories of last night washed over me.
"There are bruises on your neck" He stated. My hand came over the sore skin around my neck. I felt my hand start to shake. "Chris" I breathed shaking my head. He just stared down at me with an expression I couldn't read.
I swallowed looking at him.
He knew the answer.
He pursed his lips and nodded before sitting up and standing off the bed, grabbing his keys. I jumped forward grabbing his arm. "Chris, don't" I cried, pulling him back. He shook me off as he marched towards his door.
I ripped the covers off of me as the door slammed harshly.
I ran after him and caught him halfway down the hall, pulling him back. He turned and looked at me.
"Chris I don't know that it was him" I lied looking at him. He stared at me. "Don't lie to me" He said harshly. I swallowed shaking my head. "You lie him, you don't lie to me" Chris said shaking his head. I pulled his arm, backing up.
"Can we just talk about this please?" I said my eyes filling with tears. He blinked at me. "Please don't hurt him" I whispered. He looked down at his feet.
"If you hurt him, he's gonna hurt me" I said softly. He closed his eyes and swallowed. "I'm not gonna sit here and not do anything" He said looking up at me. I bit my lip and looked off to the side.
"Why didn't you come?" I asked looking back at him. He stared at me. "That's what you're worried about? Why I didn't go to your party? Not the bruises around you neck and the fact that your boyfriend fucking roofied you?" He yelled at me.
I stepped forward wrapping my arms around his neck and pulling him into me. He froze under my touch. "I need you to just let this go okay?" I said my eyes filling with tears. "I need you to just be here please. I don't wanna talk about what happened. I don't wanna remember it, i just want it to go away. Chris I need you to let his go" I whispered against him.
His chin fell against my shoulder as I held him, but he didn't hug me back.
"Do you love him?" He whispered against me. I closed my eyes and swallowed.
"I don't think love's suppose to feel like this" I choked back a sob. He sighed as he pulled me against him. I almost fell completely against him. "Why didn't you come?" I whispered against his shoulder.
He sighed as he buried his face into my hair, letting go of a breath.
"I don't wanna talk about it" He mumbled. I swallowed before nodding as we just stood in the empty hallway, two empty people with broken hearts trying their best to fix everything that was broken inside of them.

The stag fae
A/N: I love the fae folk. I had this little idea while walking my dogs in the forest. This will maybe get a part two. I hope you like it! - Moon/Swan
Imagine taking a little stroll through the woods, wearing a pretty dress and perhaps taking some pictures. You walk alongside a small river, deciding to bathe your feet. You wade through the water, just being happy.
Suddenly, on the deeper end of the water, you see a stag trying to swim to safety, but it seems exhausted and unable to escape the flow. Without a second thought, you rush after it, but the stream grips you, pulling you underwater. You swim for your life and see the stag. You grip it. Placing its head on your shoulder, the antlers caught your hear and poked your skin. Finally you get hold of a branch, finally able to get the two of you out of there.
You never let go of the stag for even a moment, whispering, "We're going to be okay..." as you tried to get the both of you to a shallower area. Your arms hurt, you were cold, but somehow you managed to keep going and dragged both of you to where you could both stand. You waded out of the water, both collapsing onto the riverbed. Before you knew it, you fell unconscious. Everything turning to black...
When you woke up again, you were in a bed. Everything Was hurting. But you were not cold anymore. Had somebody found you? What about the stag? Poor thing must have been so scared and exhausted. Slowly you sat up and looked around.
"Wife! You have awoken! No, no, you have to rest..." A voice said, and suddenly a man came into your sight. You blinked many times to see if your eyes were betraying you. The man in front of you had antlers. Antlers. Surely you must be mistaken, and it's some sort of headband. You didn't even hear what he said. He took that as a good sign and was at your side. Grabbing a wooden cup and bringing it to your lips:"Drink drink...." You obeyed, realising how dry your throat was.
"Where is the stag…?" you asked in a hoarse voice. The man grinned. "That's me! You saved me! Now you will be my wife. Nothing else could prove your love for me more than jumping into the river and risking your life. I am so happy to have a wife like you!" You stared at him in absolute disbelief. "You're...you're kidding me," you said. He chuckled, sitting down on the bed as you backed away. "Silly human...I am not." You stared at him, in shook and confusion.
"May I have your name?" he asked sweetly. "M-my name is Y/N..." you answered, unaware that you had just given away any possibility of escape. He chuckled even more now. "You're mine, forever. Has nobody taught you to be wary of the far folk?" You stared at him in utter disbelief. "Fae?" you asked, finally wrapping your mind around it.
"Fae, fair folk, wandering people... We have many names... I am a wood fae. I take the form of a stag. And now that you have given me your name, you will be mine forever." He whispered sweetly as he grabbed your hand and kissed your palm. You quickly understood that you were in a very difficult situation. You knew a few things about the fae, remembering what you had read in your childhood.
It did not help that he was strangely attractive, and that he smelled so good....also your partner had broken up with you just a week ago....and you hated your job....maybe you should stay? Or was this the fae influence making you think this?

your throat was dry and your head was pounding. you lay curled up in your bed, the blinds shut and your hands pressed against your face. you tried to shut everything out, block out the loud yells in your head. you were hungry, so very hungry.
but you were also sure that your girlfriend would be home soon.
piltover had put up the walls between zaun and piltover but jayce assured you that the walls wouldn't last long after seeing the worry written across your face. why? he wasn't sure. then again, neither did he deem it his business to ask. but with the walls being up between zaun and piltover, you had no way of getting into the woods. the place you went to when you were hungry.
you were a vampire, yes, had been for many years now, would be for the rest of eternity.
but you didn't feed on humans, no, you wouldn't even dream of it. despite your monster-like qualities, you vowed to be nothing like a monster. you didn't want to be the type of tale that scared kids, the type that their older siblings read before bed, just trying to get them riled up. you fed from animals, in the woods where no one would see you. and only one knew of your secret.
the same girl that was opening your front door.
"hey, cupcake." vi was walking through the door, tiredness evident in her voice. she found herself in your guys' shared bedroom as quick as lightning. ever since you'd moved out from your parents house, everything seemed so much smaller but with vi by your side, the world seemed to be filled with endless opportunities.
you didn't respond, but vi wasn't too concerned yet.
the curtains had been drawn, only she assumed that was due to the fact it was currently night and not the fact that your brain was in scrambles from when the sunlight was peeking through. she'd been working for a while now, helping out some kiramman girl with something she needed help on. she needed insight on the very city of zaun, the one vi had grown up in her entire life. so naturally, she didn't mind helping the girl. the one thing she didn't like? leaving you for so long.
you felt outstretched arms wrap around your torso, her head falling into your shoulder. only now, had you realised she'd been talking the past five minutes. "y'listening?" and your silence served as an answer enough. "hey, what's wrong, baby? you're being quiet." when she turned you around she could see your tear-stained under eyes and your pale complexion. "hey, what's wrong?"
you could see the worry coating her eyes and it made you impossible more guilty. "doesn't matter." but she could see by the under eye bags and your teased hair that it did matter.
"you're shaking." she commented, taking you into her arms with worry. at first, she would have assumed that you were sick. her hand placed itself on your forehead, feeling for any temperature. you were merely cold. "oh, is this a... you know, vamp thing?" you suddenly felt very embarrassed. "hey, hey, i'm not judging, you know that." her hands soothed down your arms, sitting up and pulling you with her. "i jus' wanna know what's wrong so i can help you."
"y'can't help." you spoke, looking away and not reaching her eyes.
but she wasn't having any of that. her fingers drew your chin back to her. "we don't know that until we try." she attempted at coaxing you. "jus' tell me wh's the matter?"
"the walls." your mumble caused her ears to perk under her bubblegum hair. "can't go into the woods."
"oh, baby." she frowned suddenly, realising she hadn't thought of that at all. "I was so wrapped up in working with caitlyn, i completely forgot."
but before you could even assure her that it was okay, your hands were pushing at her. "v-vi." trying to get away. with confused eyes, her hands followed you, pressing against your upper arms. "vi, please don't touch me." suddenly feeling tears spring in your eyes.
the girls brows were pinched together. "why not?" before contorting to a look that told you she understood what you had meant now. "oh."
"vi, please." but she didn't let go. you didn't want to loose control, but you were starving. you needed to eat before you ended up killing yourself but for the first time in all of your life, you'd truly been tempted. you'd been tempted to feed off a human but that wasn't you, you wouldn't hurt somebody. you wouldn't kill somebody. but with the hunger that you felt then, you were sure that if you started, you wouldn't be able to stop.
vi's hands were on you, her eyes searching yours even as you tried to back away. but vi was keen, she didn't let you move. her hands held an iron grip on you, sapphire eyes boring into your own. "feed off me."
your eyes went wide as saucers, whipping your head towards her so fast you were sure you'd gotten whiplash. "what?" is the only word that fell from your lips, your brows now pinched together and your hands shaking impossibly more. what she was asking you to do, it wasn't just dangerous, it was suicidal.
but her hands didn't stop soothing up and down your arms, she didn't even seem afraid of you. she should be, she really should be. even you were afraid of yourself. "you're in pain." she noted by the way your face had contorted from the minute she stepped into the room. with her being here, it would only be harder to control your urges and she didn't want you to have to do that. "let me help you, sweet girl."
but you didn't feel anything alike 'sweet' in that given moment. you glanced up at her, doey eyes coated with a glossy cover of tears. "vi, 'm really hungry." a whole whimper falling from your lips. "i can't―I wouldn't be able to stop― I don' wanna hurt you." but god, were you tempted.
"hey." her fingers brushing up and down your arms so gently. "everythings gonna be okay, cupcake, y'just gotta let go, 'kay?" she was reaching her arm up towards you, your eyes impossibly wide. "jus' let go for me, angel."
but you couldn't. you wouldn't. but her wrist lay in front of you, pumping. and you suddenly felt dizzy. "vi." you whimpered, the first tear falling down your doll-like cheek.
"'s okay." she cooed, soothing you. "'s okay just let me help you." she watched as your gaze turned back to her wrist, head feeling all floaty like and your eyes a little hazy. "jus' wanna help you." but even she was beginning to feel light headed, and you hadn't even began. sure, she wanted to help you and she'd do that a thousand times over, only a tiny feeling at the bottom of her stomach was laced with fear. then she remembered who was standing in front of her. her sweet and lovely y/n, you'd do no wrong, you wouldn't hurt her. even if you fed from her. "bottoms up." she mumbled.
she watched as your face contorted lightly, almost in pain as your mouth opened, fangs seeping out from your teeth. you whimpered gently as vi guided her wrist towards your mouth. hesitantly, you looked at her to which she nodded. in your starvation? more than enough for you. you gently sunk your teeth into her skin.
vi inhaled, squeezing in a breath as a light pain trickled around her body. but she didn't scream or yell about. that was the thing about vi, pain tolerance like no other. her free hand came down to your head, pressing against the crown of your hair. "that's a good girl." she spoke, gently stroking your hair. "see? you're okay."
but your mind wasn't focusing on her words, they were merely entering one ear and getting tossed out the next. your teeth were impaled in her skin, the blood filling your mouth. your eyes shut, a little noise of relief leaving your lips. your hands moved to press her wrist closer against your mouth. it tasted so good.
almost instantly, you felt the colour return to your face, the eye bags wash away as relief pumped through your veins.
you never drank human blood but this wasn't just any human, it was vi. and it tasted better than any animal you'd ever seen, you were sure it'd taste better than any human, too.
you could have drank the blood until her body run dry. but you couldn't. in fear of hurting her, you took your mouth away from her wrist, pulling away as your eyes flickered back up to hers, checking for any sign of regret.
you were blinking harshly, trying to let the blood set in after not drinking in weeks. while your body was swaying gently, vi was still ever so still. her eyes were a little hazy as her lips curved upwards. her thumb came down to meet your mouth, gently smearing the blood that had been on it around your bottom lip. she tapped your cheek causing you to part your mouth. instantly, she stuck her blood-covered thumb between your lips.
you whimpered softly against the skin, your eyes fluttering shut. "'s a good girl." she mumbled. "so good."

TattooArtist!Boyfriend!Xavier Thorpe x Fem!Reader -- Summary: You've always been Xavier's muse, inspiring and motivating his work, but right now he wants nothing more than for you to be his canvas for his most recent design. Warnings: MDNI/18+/Tattoo artist Xavier AU/Aged Up characters/Spice/Xavier giving reader a sternum tattoo/Kissing/Pet names (Angel;Babe;My love)/Pinch of Possessive!Xavier A/N: This is the first fic I'll be posting here, so I hope you guys like it! (Also this was written at 1am so apologies for any mistakes)^^
It had been 15 minutes since Xavier started looking at you, still cleaning and sterilizing his tattoo gun, and he has yet to look away. You were reading a book you had picked up from the library before you met up with your boyfriend in his art shed, that was hidden in the woods on Nevermore's campus. Though you were deeply invested in your book, you couldn't shake the feeling of his gaze, so you glanced up to meet his adoring eyes.
"What?" You laughed out, inspecting his face. He looked like a kid who was scared to ask his mom for some candy, but his eyes were much wider (lost in thought, clearly), and his cheeks slightly more red.
"I uh.." He cleared his throat and looked down at the cloth and tool in his hands, that he had been thoroughly wiping every inch for the past several minutes; before continuing "My love, and you can absolutely say no, but well- I finished a design that I've been working on, and I was hoping to tattoo it on you?" He placed his tattoo gun on the desk before quickly rummaging through all his papers before finding his sketch book.
You stood up from where you sat and approached his chair, wrapping your arms around his shoulders from behind as you stared at the drawing he flipped open too. You already knew you would probably have let him the moment he asked in such a sweet tone, but you were stunned by the piece. It was a fairly larger sternum tattoo, that would wrap around your chest and peak in between your boobs. The drawing had such intricate details, and little parts that made it appear that he had designed it just for you. Even the chest model he had drawn matched yours damn near perfectly.
"Xavier.. That's beautiful, I'd be honored to be you canvas." You said the last part in a fake, more proper sounding accent. His eyes lit up and his head snapped back so he was facing you. You could've swore that if he had a tail it would be wagging.
"Wait seriously? Like now? Can we do it now?" You could only imagine how long a piece like this would take, and it was already pretty late, but you had enough caffeinated drinks that you really didn't care, with the look he had stuck on his face you'd probably let him cover every inch of your body in his drawings, hiding your skin away in the ink.
--
That's where you sat now. Lying on your back, topless and staring at the drawing of your tattoo in his book. Your page. Sure, he had a lot of drawings of you, but this was different. It wasn't your face, your body, your hair. No, this was you. This was something that clearly showed that he took a great look into who you really were. Each line told its own story; then you noticed it, scattered throughout it was letters, unnoticeable unless you were specifically looking for it, letters that spelt out his name. A grin climbed onto your face, as closed the book, setting it on the desk closest to you. You looked down at the boy with long brown hair, who's bangs had now been tied back.
"Your name huh? Claiming me now?" Blood now rushed back to his face. It was a part of the design he had completely forgotten about. A part that he sketched out while thinking about you with his name stained onto your body, showing that you were truly his, and his alone.
"I forgot about that, babe I promise I wouldn't try to tattoo my name on you without perm-" but you cut him off. He was almost frantic, which was cute, but always led to him rambling on nervously for at least 10 minutes.
"I like it, its not like its in bold, neon ink, keep it. Please?" You added the please with a small whine for good measure, to make sure he wouldn't feel bad about it. He just nodded and started prepping you for the stencil.
This was your first tattoo, so you weren't exactly prepared for the cold liquid to be sprayed on your body, but when it was you couldn't help but flinch, which made your usually gentle boyfriend, push down slightly on your chest.
"Angel, I know you've never had this done, but for this I'm gonna need you to stay perfectly still once I get the gun out." His voice was stern and dry, a huge change in pace from the timid boy from a moment ago, but not an unwelcome one. You found it quite attractive the way he could switch back and forth like that. You just nodded, and went back to admiring him at work.
-
It had been several hours since he started the tattoo, it was decently painful, but at the same time felt really nice. You had finally adjusted to the way he was doing it, when he suddenly lifted the tool and stood up, readjusting himself. You thought he was just stretching after sitting uninterrupted for so long, but instead he moved onto the table where yo were, positioning his knees on either side of your hips, squeezing you gently to keep you in place. How flustered you were must've been clearly shown on your face because, still keeping the machine away from you, he leaned down and kissed you, you could feel his smirk in the kiss. He was loving this. You'd been watching him the entire time, not his work, but his face and body movement, and he knew it. He himself had a hard time keeping his eyes on his art. Your breasts were completely exposed to him, and he loved knowing that he was the only one allowed to see you like this.
He finally broke the kiss, giving you a moment to fix your breathing, and stop moving before returning to the tattoo.
-
It was nearing sunrise when the tattoo was done and yet you both still felt wide awake. He hadn't moved from his spot straddling your waist since he got there, ,but he did have to pin down your shoulder every so often when it tried to move on it's own. He was surprised that you didn't ask him to stop for a break at all. You were in a trance like state watching his every movement, but at the very least it kept you still. He brought his phone out and took a photo of "the tattoo" He told you, but you knew exactly why he was so precise with his angles.

Bad For Business: Level Eight
Tumblr media
Steve Harrington x fem!reader [2.6k] An enemies to lovers au. Arcade coworkers, who love to hate each other, get too competitive about Dig Dug and share a mutual annoyance for the kids that like to pester them. Choose your own adventure by picking an option at the end of the chapter.
The storm was unexpected and not forecasted, a monsoon rolling through a July afternoon that went almost unnoticed inside of the arcade. The windowless building didn’t show signs of the rain, nor the dark skies, but by the time the last of the kids left, the rush of a downpour and the rumble of thunder could be heard from the open door.
And once you’d cashed up and pulled your bag from your locker, you let your workmates out the door before you locked it behind you, hearing their goodbyes yelled over the din of the rain as they ran through puddles to their cars, their parents' minivans.
Your bike was chained to a railing ten feet away, away from the shelter of the door awning, placed perfectly in the middle of a puddle that was growing into a small lake. You squinted into the gloom, splatters of rain water sticking to your skin, already humid and sticky from the lingering heat.
Then a car pulled up in front of you, a maroon BMW with shiny alloys and a pretty boy behind the wheel, one you hadn’t seen all week after you’d kissed him stupid in the photo booth. The window rolled down and Steve appeared more clearly, shirt dotted with rain, hair messy from the wind. He was looking at you carefully, maybe warily, maybe nervously.
But then he nodded to the empty passenger seat. “Get in.”
You didn’t hesitate, not the way you would’ve done weeks ago, chin tilted high and haughty, ready to tell Steve Harrington you’d rather swim home than accept a ride from him. But Chrissy had come back from being off sick and Murray had switched up the schedule. You hadn’t seen Steve in a while, not since the kiss, not since he’d had his hand tucked under your knee and hitched your thigh to his hips.
Not since his tongue had been against yours.
Not since he’d whispered your name, a gasping, rough sound that you didn’t think Steve knew he made.
Not since you discovered that you made Steve Harrington hard.
Not since you realised you wanted to do it again and again and—
You got in the car.
The inside of the BMW smelled like Steve, like cedar wood cologne and mint gum, like expensive leather and the half full coffee in the cup holder. You were almost soaked through from the dash across the sidewalk, shirt wrinkled to your body, unnecessary sunscreen and rain water sticking to your skin.
The radio was low, a murmur, the sound of the rain on the roof louder than anything. Steve nodded at you when you finally looked at him and then he shifted gear, pulling away from the arcade and into the storm.
Steve drove you through town without much talking, his fingers twisting the controls on the radio, the sounds of Tears For Fears mixing with the rain on the windshield, the hum of the aircon. You didn’t have to tell Steve where to go, you didn’t have to tell him your address. He drove through the streets, kicking up water as he went, heading towards the familiar row of houses not too far from his own. And just before he turned into the lane, you swallowed hard, not wanting to leave just yet. There were things to say, you were sure of it. You just didn’t know what.
But Steve beat you to it, pulling over in a corner shaded by tall oak trees, at the edge of the sidewalk where the road met a park that was only used for teenage make-outs and underage drinking. It was quiet, empty, and you changed a look at the boy when he killed the engine and the music.
Steve looked different away from the neon lights and despite the storm, it still felt too quiet without the sounds of the arcade. It was too loud without the alarms, the jingles. Too bright despite the grey.  It was overwhelming.
“Steve, about last week— what happened, I—”
The boy interrupted you before you could go on, a hand that paused as it made its way to reach over to you, hovering over your thigh, like he decided it wasn’t a good idea. Until he did, Steve’s fingers curling around the skin above your knee and your gaze found his, lips parted in surprise and you watched him think - just for a second - before the words were tumbling from his mouth with anymore hesitation.
“I’ve not stopped thinking about it,” Steve murmured, sounding a little dazed, quiet under the blanket of rain, the sky through the windshield a hazy lilac-grey and god, the world felt fuzzy, it felt soft. “Like, at all. Fuck, I don’t know, I just— I just.” Steve licked his lips, letting his gaze drop to yours. “Wanna do it again.”
The air seemed to disappear from the car. You didn’t say anything. You couldn’t.
“If you’ll let me,” Steve finished, nervous and quiet and unlike you’d seen him before, his eyes unsure as he made his way back to his own seat, his hand retreating from your leg.
You didn’t let him get far, your hand wrapping around his wrist to keep him close, leaning forward in your chair to meet him over the console, noses almost brushing. You shared the same shaky breath and outside, the rain fell harder.
“We don’t like each other,” you tried to remind him, but the words came out unsure, like you couldn’t remember yourself. “We’re not— we’re not friends. We don’t—”
Steve shrugged, a clumsy thing that you barely saw because he was so close. His hand that you kept on your thigh tightened, a needy grasp that you encouraged by smoothing your palm up his forearm, upupup until you were holding onto his shoulder and fisting his rain speckled shirt in your fingers.
“You’re right, we don’t,” Steve agreed and his voice was lower than before, more sure and back to sounding a little cocky now that you were holding him with the same kind of want that he held you with. “I totally hate you.”
You wondered if Steve believed his own words in that moment, because with the way he was staring at your mouth, you sure as fuck didn’t.
You didn’t seem to care though.
“Right,” you nodded anyway. “You’re so annoying.” Your nose bumped against his, lips hovering. Waiting. Wanting. Eyes barely open.
The rain got louder, fuzzier, a white noise roar that seemed to match your heartbeat.
“Yeah, you’re a real pain in my ass, princess. Can I kiss you?”
Steve was on you before you finished nodding, a pleased hum coming from the back of your throat as he closed the gap, his hand flying up to grasp the back of your neck, like he wanted to be in control, like he wanted to savour it.
It felt less like an argument this time, this kiss. Steve’s mouth swept over yours lazily, languidly, a melting popsicle on a summer day, cherry flavoured and coloured red like sin. It was chaste for a while, innocent enough for two people parked curbside just before a residential street. But the rain had kept everyone indoors, it had washed away the sidewalk chalk, the hopscotch lines and the love hearts.
Instead, it left inky shadows to hide in, navy and lavender light, heavy rain. Enough noise to disguise your moans with, a substitute for the arcade sounds but this felt better, this felt closer. Warmer. Hotter.
Then Steve’s tongue licked over your bottom lip as his thumb grazed the corner of it, an impatient tug that was supposed to be a question. You answered it by parting your lips for him, tongue meeting his, his groan mixing with your sigh. And too soon, he was pulling away, rosy cheeks and glassy eyed, watching you with the most curious expression - like he couldn’t work you out.
And then: “C’mere.”
Steve moved his chair back, cranking the lever until the seat rolled away from the steering wheel. There was enough room there for you to crawl into his lap, to straddle him and get closer than before. So you did exactly that, a little clumsy and a little eager as you scrambled over the console, Steve’s hand catching your elbow to help you, even with a smirk on his face.
“Thought you didn’t like me?” He reminded you through your willingness to throw your leg over his thighs, grinning when you scowled. Steve’s hands found your hips, warm and wide, gripping tight as you lowered yourself over him. “Or does that not matter now that you’re—”
“Steve? Shut up,” you muttered huffily, happy to have worn a skirt as you settled yourself against him, chest to chest, your hands diving into the hair at the nape of his neck.
You rocked your hips, getting comfy, squirming a little in Steve’s lap and you made a little noise as you did so, the denim and the half hard length of the boy catching against your cotton underwear nicely.
“Fuck,” Steve groaned, voice suddenly breathy, the teasing knocked out of him now that you were on top. “Right, yeah, totally shutting up.”
It was easier to press your lips back to his, the neediness mounting, a new kind of want that clawed at your insides and suddenly you didn’t hate the boy at all. In fact, you really liked the way his hands dropped for your hips to hold at your spread thighs, knuckles teasing the edge of your skirt, thumbs rubbing circles the inside of your legs.
You really liked the way he sighed all deep when your tongue licked over his, how his nose pressed harder against your cheek, like he couldn’t get close enough. You really liked the way he kissed you with a confidence that came from knowing how handsome he was, from knowing how a girl liked to be touched.
But you loved it when his mouth hung open when you shoved him back into the seat, a hand to his chest, your own heaving. “Slower,” you told him, whispering, following him back into the chair, where you kept him pressed against the leather. Your mouth was a ghost against his, your bottom lip catching the arc of his cupid's bow, his kiss pink and pouty for you. “Softer.”
Steve did as he was told, hands roaming the expanse of skin under your shirt, fingers trailing up and down your spine as he kissed you like he had all day, all night. A teasing push and pull of his mouth against your own, teeth catching your lip, tongue sliding over your own until you were squirming.
“Yeah?” He asked, lips glossy from you, eyes dreamy.
You nodded, clutching at him, fingers twisting in his hair. “Yeah.”
You didn’t realise you were rocking yourself over Steve until he swore, hands holding you and pushing you down against his hard cock, tight and trapped under his jeans. It was a heady experience, the drag of denim against your underwear, cotton soft and almost soaked through the more Steve kissed you. You felt drunk, the roar of the rain a staticy sound in your ears but Steve’s moans were louder, more important.
He sounded so pretty. He looked even prettier.
So you rested your forehead against his, lips open in a gasp, hips rocking a little faster, a dirty grind that made you feel filthy. Anyone could walk by. Anyone could see.
“M’gonna come like this,” you whispered, only a little embarrassed at your admission. You felt flushed, too warm, the summer air heavy in the car with the aircon off. “Shit, Steve.”
“Christ,” the boy groaned, voice sounding wrecked. “You can’t say shit like that, fucking hell.”
You only whined in response, catching him again for a kiss that turned messy, desperate as you both chased something you didn’t know you’d wanted. Your hands were on Steve’s jaw, titling his head back to kiss him a little deeper as he encouraged you to grind down on him.
He tore away from you when you moaned louder than ever, squirming against his cock through his jeans, letting out a hiccuping sound when the zipper caught against your clit. His lips were on your cheek, the line of your jaw, down your neck.
“Oh my god.”
“Shit, princess, are you gonna come?” He growled when you nodded, your cheek pressed to his. “God, that’s so fucking hot, you’re just— fuck.”
Steve hoisted you away from him, from where you’d pressed yourself against his chest. He coaxed you up, holding onto you with one hand on your thigh, just under your skirt, the other on your waist. He was still guiding you, hips canting up now to help you both gain more friction. You were desperate for another kiss, to feel the dirty flick of Steve’s tongue over yours but Steve tutted as you tried to move back, his hands keeping you where he wanted you.
“Nuhuh,” he murmured, “wanna watch.”
“Oh, shit,” you whined, clutching at the front of his shirt, pulling up the cotton until more skin was revealed, tanned and freckled, a dusting of hair leading down into his jeans. You curled your fingers there instead, holding onto his belt. “Steve, m’close.”
The boy nodded, frantic, suddenly intent on seeing you fall apart, just for him. “I know, I know, keep goin’ for me.” His thumbs dug into your hip bones, pushing and pulling you over his cock, his own breath hitching at the sight of you throwing your head back, eyes fluttering shut, your hold on him tightening. “Fucking hell, you’re so pretty. You look so good.”
It was an easy climb, when he spoke like that. It was a sudden fall when he whispered to you next:
“Can you come like this? Rubbing yourself on my cock? Christ, you’re gonna, aren’t you, princess?”
You came with your lips pressed back to Steve’s, clawing at his shoulders as you whined into his open mouth, his own groan falling onto your tongue, his hands pressing hard into your sides as he jerked underneath you, hips rolling. Steve flushed as he came, cheeks reddening, eyes turning glassy as he watched you and you watched him.
Neither of you moved, not yet, not as quickly as you thought you would’ve. Instead, you leaned into him, body slack and warm, skin slick with rain and exertion, your chest heaving against Steve’s. Maybe you imagined the kiss Steve pressed to your shoulder before you sat up, the fleeting warmth of his lips on your skin, the soft hum that came from him as he did.
There wasn’t any embarrassment as you stared at each other, your legs still splayed over his, the crotch of his jeans starting to darken in one spot, a mix of yours and his accomplishments. If you felt proud at the sight, you tried not to show it. So you both caught your breaths and Steve rubbed a thumb over your knee, wincing when you left him to crawl back to the passenger seat.
You didn’t kiss him goodbye before you left, and Steve didn’t offer any other sweetness when your fingers curled around the door handle, but you did leave him with one parting gift.
“I don’t really hate you,” you told him, suddenly shy despite the marks he’d left on your neck, the mess you’d left his hair. “Not really.”
Steve grinned, a proper, beaming thing before he caught himself and tried to smooth out his expression. He cleared his throat, nodding as he started the engine and gave you one last look. “Yeah. Not really.”
You hadn’t even noticed the rain had stopped.

Electric Summer
Tumblr media
I decided to start something new! I know I said I was going to try to finish Coach Sy first but I just don't have ideas for it. And this would not leave me alone.
Summary: OFC is a camp counselor. She and Sy used to be childhood besties and used to have a summer fling. But when they get older and school ends. She thinks she'll never see him again.
Warnings: none
Let me know what you think. Comments and Reblogs are always welcome
This work is totally my own and I own all my mistakes. Obviously, I don't own Sy.. man I wish
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was easily my favorite time of the year. I love the fall and the smell of the leaves and cozy blankets and warm drinks. It was a beautiful time of year. Fall was my favorite season. But this was not that. This was magic. Summer’s always were. Even when the sun went down at 9pm and the sky faded to black there was still an electric energy that burned in the air. The nights weren’t over just because the sun had fallen. In fact that was the time when the best memories were made. Especially here. It’s so cliche, but to me this is the happiest place on earth. Forget Disney world. No, the best times were had slipping away from mom and dad and spending the summer with friends you hadn’t seen all year, jumping in the lake, tipping a canoe, hiking through the woods at night, sneaking off to steal a kiss with your crush behind the cabin, and warming up around the campfire at night.
This camp built me. It holds my dearest memories from my childhood and adolescents. When they messaged me and asked about coming back as a counselor it was an easy answer.
I looked over at my best friend pouting on my bed while I packed my suitcase.
“I can’t believe you’re gonna be gone all summer!” she grumbled. I laughed, shaking my head at her.
“I told you, you could come too! They need more counselors.” I stated, matter of fact. She scrunched up her nose  and raised an eyebrow.
“I love kids but I’m not very outdoorsy, no way I’d last all summer! I’m too pale to be in the sun that long.” she retorted
“Fair, we’ve been swimming once this year and you’re already burnt.” I chuckled. I put another towel in my bag and she took it out and threw it on the bed. I sighed.
“It’s not forever V, you can literally come visit me.” I said “I won’t be on my  phone much at all  but I can give you nightly updates before lights out!” I promised.
“Fine,” she conceded, repacking the towel for me. “But if you meet somebody and start some whirlwind summer love you better tell me immediately! I want all the details! We haven't spent this long apart literally since we became friends!” I laughed
“I doubt it, but if the perfect man somehow manages to show up to sweep me off my feet at summer camp I’ll let you know!” I told her.
“It could happen! Didn’t you have a lil summer boyfriend when you were younger?” She asked. I thought back to my days as a camper. All the friends I’d made, the silly little camp crushes. Then there was him. For 3 straight summers there was him. I tried to resist it at first. He was incredibly charming. A lot of the girls had a crush on him. He was energetic and funny and he had this big smile. That first summer we became fast friends. I tried to ignore him but he wouldn’t leave me alone. If I got up to leave the group he’d get up and ask where I was going. When we had to use the buddy system for a game or a hike. He would claim me before one of my girls could. His friends would get mad at him for it. I never understood it. But camp was only 2 weeks long. I didn’t have enough time to dwell on it.
The next summer. He grew. He had to be at least a foot taller. His hair had grown out into these beautiful wild curls. I think maybe he’d started working out. He mentioned he was playing football in school. So maybe that was why he seemed more toned. He still had that big sweet smile. He’d grown into a gentle giant. It must’ve been fate that once again our cabins were paired together as a group. And because we’d become such good friends he sought me out immediately. Pulling me into a big hug.
“Hey girl!” He beamed, squeezing me tight. “Glad we’re here together again, how have you been?” He asked enthusiastically. I chuckled, my arms still wrapped around his middle as I found my footing again. He’d practically lifted me off the ground.
“It’s good to see you too, Logan.” I smiled. Despite how hard I tried, That summer, I could not deny that I had developed feelings for him. I was too shy to tell him. And I loved being friends with him. I didn’t want to lose that. However even though Logan didn’t seem to notice it was painfully obvious to one of my bunkmates.
“You should tell him you like him!” Tasha said, sneaking up behind me. This particular day the girls in our cabin decided to ditch the boys, who were off  playing ultimate frisbee or something, and go on a hike.
“What?” I said quickly. She shook her head.
“Girl, you obviously have the biggest crush on Sy, you should tell him.” she repeated herself. I started to chew on my lip nervously.
“Logan? I… tosh… he’s my best friend. Aside from you of course,” I assured her, “I can’t tell him.” I said. She sighed dramatically.
“Why not? He’s literally so nice, the worst that would happen is he’d say he wants to stay friends.Plus I really think he likes you too!” she said hopefully.
“You can’t know that.” I retorted. She shook her head at me again.
“I’ve heard people talk about it. I was in the bathroom last night and I overheard these girls from cabin F talking, one of the girls said she’s really jealous of you because of the way Logan clings to you,” she argued.
“He does not cling to me,” I said.
“We had to tell him our hike was no boys allowed because he was gonna ditch the boys to come with us!” she cried.
“Maybe he wanted to hike?” I argued. Tasha gave up and just laughed.
“Girl you’re hopeless.” she said, as we continued to walk.
A few days later the boys and girls cabin went on a night hike together. It was a tradition. Something we did every year. We walked through the woods when it got dark and played games as a group. I hated it. It freaked me out. I was not a horror movie fan and this was like an invitation for a demon to jump out and attack you. Needless to say I was scared the whole time. Sy picked up on it immediately. Sticking with me the whole time. Distracting me and making me laugh. And when I got really tense on the walk back he grabbed my hand. When we were back in the clearing by the cabins Tasha looked back at us and noticed our hands smiling to herself. She stopped walking until she was next to me on the other side and whispered in my ear.
“Girl if you don’t tell him I will.” I pouted and gave her a look and she just laughed skipping ahead again to hold the hand of this year's camp boyfriend. Needless to say I still didn’t tell him. I spent the next week and a half doing everything I could to avoid it.
On the last day of camp a few of us were sitting in the grass in the sun soaking up the last few hours together before our parents arrived and we had to say goodbye. We were talking about our favorite things we’d done this summer. What we were gonna miss. Promising to keep in touch.
“Hey Logan, you know you only live like an hour from Lainie?” Tasha said all of a sudden.
“Oh yeah?” He asked, looking over at me with a big smile on his face.
“Mhmm.” she continued, "You guys could totally hang out sometime!” she exclaimed.
“How did you know that?” I asked her suddenly.
“I looked it up,” she shrugged. I rolled my eyes but then looked over at Sy, his long legs stretched out in front of him on the grass, leaning back on his elbows, the sun shining down perfectly warming his face. He looked beautiful. He had a sparkle in his eye when I met his gaze.
“What, you don’t wanna see me?” He pouted. “I think it’d be fun! You get your license in a couple weeks right?” He raised his brows eyes hopeful. I was surprised he remembered. We talked about it at campfire a couple nights ago. He told me he was saving up for his own car so he didn’t have to drive his brothers hand me down anymore. And I said I just couldn’t wait to be able to drive without my mom in the car.
“Yeah,” I said, “I do, and of course I wanna see you Logan,” I blushed.
“That’s perfect,” Tasha spoke again. “You guys could go on a date or something!” she winked.
“Huh?” I choked. Glaring at her. Logan didn’t say anything. Or if he did I was too shocked to hear what he said.
“Girl, don't act like you don’t have the biggest crush on him. We all know it.” I could feel everyone's eyes on me now and my cheeks were burning.
“Is that true?” Logan asked softly. I couldn’t look at him. I chewed at my lip trying to come up with anything to make this go away but I couldn’t .
“I-I …my parents are gonna be here soon! I need to finish packing!” I said and stood up quickly running toward the cabin. That wasn’t true. I packed everything this morning. I was bragging about it to him saying I had the whole rest of the day to enjoy what we had left of camp. He knew I was lying. I heard him call after me but I didn’t stop. Not until I got back to our cabin. The boys weren’t allowed there. I could stay there and hide until It was time to go. And that’s what I did. An hour later our counselor came to find me telling me my parents had arrived to take me home. I didn’t see Logan when I was leaving. I didn’t look for him. I was too embarrassed to find him to say goodbye. So I didn’t. I left without a word. And I felt horrible about it.
Another year came and went. Logan and I never met up after summer. I didn’t text him. I was too afraid. And I’d never given him my number.  I was beside myself with nerves about returning to camp that next summer. It was my favorite place on earth. And my worst nightmare all wrapped into one. After the way I’d left things with him last year I was afraid to see him. I thought that maybe I’d get lucky and he wouldn’t be there the same week I was. Or we wouldn’t be in the same group. So at least I could avoid him. Even if it was gonna hurt.
Of course that’s not what happened. Again our cabins were in a group. The first day I avoided making eye contact with him. And I always stuck with the girls. I didn’t want a chance for us to be alone together. Conveniently Tasha couldn’t make it to camp this year. So I was stuck in the mess she’d made without her help.  He and I were together for group activities but I didn’t talk much. I kept to myself. That worked for the first day. But it didn’t last long. During the afternoon at camp we didn’t have a lot of scheduled activities. So we could pretty much run around and do whatever we wanted. And since we were the late highschool aged group. We didn’t have to follow the “buddy system,”  They encouraged it but I guess if we went missing that was on us. It was just after lunch. Maybe 2pm. There was this little circle of bench swings in the park. It was a great place to gather as a group. A lot of times we would sit and reflect on the day there before the campfire at night. But right now no one was there. I liked to keep a journal while I was at camp. To keep all of the memories. So I sat on one of the swings with one leg folded under me and the other dangling off to push myself on the swing. I didn’t see him coming. I was too busy scribbling down all of  my thoughts. I didn’t notice anyone was there until I heard the creak of the chains from the swing directly across from mine. I looked up. Logan was sitting on the swing, his arms stretched over the back of it and rocking back and forth on his heel pushing the swing. I set my pen in my journal, closing it slowly, before I could speak, he said.
“Please don’t run,” His voice sounded deeper somehow even though he spoke softly. I knew he was from the south. He always had a bit of a twang but I’d never noticed that drawl like I did now. When he was pleading with me. I swallowed hard and nodded. “I don’t like this,” He spoke again when I remained silent. “I hate that you’re ignoring me.”
“I’m not…” I started
“You are,” He interrupted, letting out a deep sigh. “Lainie,” he said, my childhood nickname. The one he’d started to call me after we all shared fun facts about ourselves. It was the name all of my mothers family had called me since I was a baby. He’d never actually addressed me by my name from that point on. It was always a joke between us. A little sentiment that he claimed as his. It sounded sad now. As he pulled his eyes from the mulch on the ground to meet my gaze. “You are my best friend. You can talk to me. About anything. Hell, I’m closer with you than I am with any of my friends back home.” He said. “I know that things were kinda awkward when we left last summer but you didn’t even say goodbye.” He paused. I bit my lip, starting to feel emotional.
“I’m sorry,” I said softly. “I was so embarrassed.” I finally admitted to him. “I didn’t mean to leave like that. But everyone was looking at me. And I was scared and I was afraid I was gonna lose you as a friend. But I guess I did that all on my own.” I sighed.
Sy stood up and crossed the space from his swing to mine. He paused waiting to see if I’d make room for him. Naturally I did. He sat next to me. Stretching his arm out behind me on the back of the swing.
“You couldn’t lose me if you tried darlin,”  A soft smile formed on his lips.  If I didn’t know any better, it almost looked sad.  I could tell that he was having an inner battle in himself.  “Why were you scared?”  He finally asked.  I swallowed a lump that was forming in my throat.  There was no point in avoiding it now.  He had to know that I’ve had a crush on him.  Even I know that he isn’t too oblivious to realize that much.  I felt my breath hitch when I felt his hand cover my shoulder.  A gentle squeeze and a soft storking of his thumb brought my eyes to his.
“Because I didn’t want anything to change, what we’ve got going is good,” I spoke barely above a whisper.
“Why would…” He started. But I cut him off before I lost my nerve.
“Because Tasha was right. I did..do have a big crush on you. But it’s silly, and you’re such a great friend to me Logan, I didn’t want to lose that because of how I was feeling.” I rambled.
“Huh,” He breathed. “You have a crush on me? I never would of guessed.” He smirked. I pouted and smacked his shoulder.
“Sy, I’m serious!” I ran my hand through my hair and turned away from him to nervous to hold eye contact. I heard him chuckle softly before I felt his fingertips gently brush across my jaw turning me back to face him.
“I know, I’m sorry,” he paused regaining his composure. “You really think I didn’t notice?” He raised both brows and had a gentle smile on his lips.
“You knew?” I muttered softly still so embarrassed about the whole situation.
“It’s kinda what I what I was hoping for, I’ve only been flirtin’ with ya for two summers now,” He laughed. It was my turn to be confused. I raised an eyebrow. This only caused him to laugh more.
“You?” I paused trying to wrap my head around what I was trying to say. “Wait so?”
“I’d have loved to have taken you out, If you’d have given me the chance.” He explained. I hung my head resting it my hands and groaned.
“I’m an idiot.” I sighed.
“No,” Sy said, “I should have said something sooner, and Tosh shouldn’t have called you out like that. I’d known for a while but, I really liked the way things were between us. I didn’t see a reason for us to push anything.” He said slowly pulling my hand away from my face and lacing his fingers with mine.
“You really liked me this whole time.” I said finally looking up at him, relaxing a bit when he smiled.
“Since the day I met you.” He admitted. I smiled. And squeezed his hand I sat up moving to sit closer to him. I opened my mouth to speak but before I could one of the counselors was interrupting us.
“Hey guys you know the rules. No purpling, No PDA,” They warned us and stood there until Sy let go of my hand.  They nodded at us before walking off to montier the rest of the play ground. Some of the younger age groups were playing in the park. ‘No purpling’ such a stupid metaphor. Girls are red boys are blue if red and blue touch it makes purple. It was so annoying.
“I hate that damn rule.” He grumbled. I giggled softly.
“Yeah, me too.” we both just looked at each other and smiled.
After that moment we spent the rest of that summer by each others side. Camp always seemed like such a short time and this time it seemed like it was slipping away even faster. We never made anything official but we did hold hands when no one was looking and occasionally we would sneak off from the group to have time alone.
One evening after dinner a few of us decided we wanted to take out some canoes on the lake. Of course the two of us took one out on our own. For some reason that night Sy  was quiet. He had been a lot of the day. I finally decided to ask him about it. “Are you okay?” I asked after a few minutes of silence had passed while we floated in the middle of the lake.
“Yeah,” He answered quickly “Why?” He wouldn’t meet my eye.
“You’ve just been quiet, is something bothering you? You can talk to me.” I assured him. He sat there for a few seconds without saying anything before letting out a deep breath.
“This is gonna be my last summer at camp.” He said softly. My heart sank. I knew he was about a year older than me. And we could only come back as campers through the year after we graduated high school. But he was about to start his Senior year. He still had one more summer.
“But you haven’t graduated yet. You can still come back next year!” I said hopefully.
“It’s not that,” He bit his lip looking out at the water still refusing to look at me. “I signed up for the military. I’m gonna be in the army. I start basic right after I graduate. And then they’ll send me wherever they need me.” He said finally meeting my eyes.
“Oh,” I nodded. “So, after this summer, we won’t ever see each other again.” I said sadly.
“Hey, no,” he said, grabbing my hand, “We still got a whole year. I could come see you or you could drive to me and we… we could make this…” He trailed off.
“Logan,” my voice cracked as I started to speak. “You and I both know it’s not going to work. You’re going to be so busy with football and your friends and your family. And I will be too.” I felt him squeeze my hand and he nodded, a sad look in his eyes.
“I know, but I just got you, I don’t wanna let go yet.” He said. I felt a tear fall and I wiped it away quickly, not wanting to make him feel any worse.
“Maybe, we were only ever meant to have summer.” I said.
“Yeah,” He whispered. “Guess we better make the most of it.”
We spent every second we could together the rest of camp. Hell he even walked me to the bathroom. It killed me to know this was all we were ever going to be. I’d never met anyone like Logan before. I hated to say that I was in love with him. I mean I was only 16 but. It sure felt like it. We did every activity together, sat together at dinner. And he’d put his arm around me at campfire when the adults weren’t looking. The night before camp was over was the annual night hike. He knew how much I hated it. So while the rest of the group headed off into the woods he grabbed my hand and led us to another trail that led to an open grassy field. The boys usually played frisbee or softball out here.
“Logan,” I whispered. “We’re gonna get in trouble.” I said.
“They’ll never notice we’re gone.” He said. Pulling me into his chest and hugging me tight holding me for a moment. “I just wanna be alone with you.” he mumbled into my hair. He walked us out to the middle of the field and sat down pulling me down with him. “Come here.” He said laying back on the grass and pulling me into his side. I snuggled up to him laying my head on his chest. We laid like that for a while just silent. Looking at the stars above us.
“I don’t wanna leave tomorrow. I don’t want to have to say goodbye.” He said. I felt myself start to tear up but I forced them down.
“Are you scared?” I asked.
“No,” He admitted shaking his head. “My dad was in the service and my grandpa, my older brother. It’s just what we do.” He said.
“I hate this.” I sighed. I couldn’t lie to myself anymore or him.
“Me too darlin.” he said. We laid there in silence again. Until he spoke. “Would it… would it be too selfish to ask you to wait for me?” He asked. I felt tense. I sat up laying my hand on his chest and turned to look at him.
“Logan, you don’t need me to wait for you, you’ll meet some pretty girl in your home town. Some girl you can come back home too when it’s all over. You’ll have long forgotten about me when you come home.”
“I could never forget you Lainie,” He said softly. My breath hitched. His eyes bore deeply into mine. Even with nothing but the moon light and the stars lighting his face I could see he meant it.
“Sy,” I whispered. He caressed my cheek sitting up to close the distance between us. This would be the first time we’d ever kissed. Maybe the last. I could feel his breath against my lips as my eyes fluttered shut.
“There you two are!” The boys councelor called from across the clearing. “What were you thinking you had us all worried!” We’d been caught.
We didn’t kiss that night. We never did. The next day when my parents came to get me. He stood there outside of our cabin holding me tight. Neither of us wanted to let go. But he didn’t kiss me goodbye. We couldn’t do it. I guess it was better not to know what we were missing.
“I’m never gonna stop thinking about ya,” He said. As we finally pulled away.
“Neither will I.” I said
That was 7 years ago. We didn’t see each other after that. I cried and sulked the rest of that summer.
I shook my head bringing me back to the present. My best friend still sitting on my bed looking at me expectantly.
“Hello, Lainie,” she snapped her fingers.
“What? Uh yeah, I guess I did have a summer fling. I mean, we were never official, never kissed or anything. But that was years ago. Who know’s where he is now.” I said.
“Who knows. Fate has this way of bringing people together.” She said. I shook my head.
“You’re such a hopeless romantic.” I laughed.
“And you’re hopeless, would it kill you to belive in fairtales. Or romance.”  she argued. I just laughed.
“You know what you’re right. You never know what will happen this summer, camp always has been a magical place.” I said.
A few hours later I was finally on the road. I felt the excitement rise up inside me as I passed the familiar rode signs. I was almost there. I thought my heart was gonna burst when I pulled into the long drive under the main archway. After parking my car I walked up to the main building to meet with the camp director.
“Lainie!” She smiled greeting me with a hug. “I’m so happy you were able to join the team this year!” She beamed.
“I jumped at the opportunity Becca, I wouldn’t miss it!” I said.
“We’re glad to have you, I’ll get you checked in so you can get settled and get your cabin set up and meet your co-coucelor. You’re with one of the boys cabins. You’ll be in cabin E and He and his boys are in A.” She smiled.
“Okay sounds great!” I was buzzing with excitement.
“I’ll let you get to it,” she said “I’m sure you remember where everything is!”
I unpacked my car and carried my bag and suitcase to my cabin. It felt so good to be back. I started to unpack and make up my bunk when I heard a knock on the screen door. I figued it must’ve been my co-concelor coming to meet me. I walked to the door stepping out on to the porch of the Cabin, seeing a man standing there. He was maybe 6,1 his hair was buzzed short. And he had a full beard. He had broad shoulders and a warm smile. His eyes went wide when they landed on me. And the moment I met the I knew why. “Lainie?” He asked. Still with that deep southern drawl.
“Logan?”
. 。*♡ request: May I request Sebastian and Lilia Vanrouge as reader's father figure, pretty please?
. 。*♡ A/N: i really like papa lilia, i just know that he would take very good care of the reader if he had the opportunity to adopt you lol. Well, I hope you like it anonie! Also Sebbys part here.
Tumblr media
It's faerie custom to steal human children for themselves, so the first moment your eyes met in the cafeteria he knew he needed to keep you close. I mean, you were a cute little thing that was brought into a world where you didn't know anything or anyone. A cute little thing that managed to hold Lilia's attention and focus, and he just can't help but be in awe of your strength and courage.
He's very sweet and attentive when he interacts with you, bordering on condescending, but having a fatherly presence takes a lot of weight off your shoulders so you don't mind too much. Lilia loves helping you with your homework and he explains so well that there is no room for doubt during your study sessions with him. He also likes to show you magic tricks since you don't have magic and teaching you how to cook traditional dishes from this world, for your own good, don't eat anything he cooks.
Every little problem you venture into, every little action you take and every word you speak, papa Lilia is by your side - not that you realize it - protecting you from harm. And slowly getting rid of bad company, he is jealous and possessive of your time as he now sees you as one of his children and you should only interact with him and his sons, they're such good companies.
Malleus absolutely adores your company, he sees how the two of you walk down Ramshackle at night while you talk and laugh and because of him, still accepting the situation, Sebek finds himself spending more time with you, listening to you, trying to understand why Malleus like you so much. Lilia is sure you'll be best friends eventually and oh my, you're even napping next to Silver, you two adorable humans.
Lilia likes to wander around random places and he often takes you and Silver on a walk with him through the woods behind campus while he tells stories of ancient times and collects various fruits. He plans to bake a dessert with these fruits to celebrate the arrival of a new member in his little family.
Lilia likes to teach you about self-defense and sword fighting, slowly training you to defend yourself if he or his kids aren't around. And it's also a fun moment where Sebek and Silver are there to help and motivate you, showing you ways to execute a move if you keep getting it wrong. Your brothers know much about this, they've been training since childhood.
He especially loves watching you interact with others. The shy way you offers Malleus a handcrafted gift, watching the expressions of joy on his face, or how you and Sebek are constantly teasing each other and bickering, but you stick up for him when someone badmouths him. And there's even the loving way you let Silver use your lap for a long, restful nap while you sit under a willow tree. And of course, the way you depend on him, listen to his words and let him comfort you when you hear Crowley say that there is no way to return to your world.
It is especially difficult to notice Lilia's manipulation, but not impossible. He is a loving father who is there for his children but he is also a general and a great strategist, there are little things that over time you can see. The fact that you keep getting sick after drinking something he offered you, the fact that whenever you are with one of them people get scared and move away from you and that all your friends don't spend as much time with you anymore, they don't invite you to parties or study dates, or anything. Still, Lilia convinces you that you're just imagining it and sometimes you wonder if it's true.
While escaping from them would be very difficult due to the power and influence they have, Lilia could use his magic to control people and manipulate situations to ensure that you are always by his side. Or Malleus can put you to sleep to prevent you from running away or getting hurt while you try to fight them. It's all for your own good, darling, they're worried about you.
please do a fic where remus and reader move in together and it’s like super domestic fluff. ahhh thank you <33
omg so cute 🥺 hope you enjoy
𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 | 𝐑.𝐋
summery: you and Remus move into your new home after hogwarts. It is a quite little cottage in the woods, perfect for the two of you. Plus Remus will be able to safely execute his full moons with the other marauders.
while moving in, Remus thinks you and him would make a perfect home here for years to come.
warnings : tooth rotting fluff, some angst if you squint, and the first wizarding war.
pairing : Remus Lupin x reader. Fab! reader implied
Tumblr media
Upon stepping inside your new house you took in a breath of relief. The life you wanted was finally a reality. Remus walked in beside you, placing a hand on the small of your back. He kissed your cheek and smiled. “It looks perfect love.”
You blushed, turning to face him. “I think so too. We can add whatever furniture we want to and decorate it however we like,” you smiled, walking into the empty space.
Remus admired the inside of the cottage. It’s cream color walls were bare, but all the boy could imagine was framed photographs of you and him. Maybe a little boy or girl in your arms. Remus had always been reluctant about having kids because of his “furry little problem” but after being with you, he knew he wanted them.
You were a major part of his support system. In the cottage’s backyard there were woods and forest as far as the eye could see. Remus was going to be safe during his full moons and his friends would definitely be there to help him.
He could picture the rest of his life here, with you and it made his heart fill with pure joy.
“I think we should put the kitchen table here,” you said, looking through a large picture window in the dining room.
Remus came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist. His shoulder chin resting on your shoulder. “It would be perfect. This house is perfect.” He grinned. “I could see us here, eating, drinking coffee.”
You blushed, “Is that so Lupin?” You asked, a smirk growing on your face. Remus flipped you over, turning you to face him.
“Yes. I can see me drinking your amazing morning coffee. Me making breakfast for us…and a little boy or girl sitting a a high chair. You feeding them applesauce.” He explained with a soft smile.
With small happy tears in your eyes, you looked up at Remus with adoration. Thinking about your future with him was a little uncertain, as there was a war going on. You didn’t know how safe the two of you might be.
Remus could see some concern in your eyes and furrowed his eye brows. “What’s wrong, dove?” He asked.
“I’m just worried is all. How do we know this is for certain?” You asked.
Remus kissed your forehead. “I know it’s for certain because we can get through anything.” He said, wiping some of your tears. The actions made you lean into his touch.
“You thought about all of that?” You asked. He nodded, then picking up your chin with his hand.
“I did love. This house is ours. I want to make it a home with you.”
You were speechless and you leaned on your tippy toes to kiss him softly. “I love you Remus. I want to build a home with you here.”
He pulled you into a passionate kiss after you spoke those words, his arms wrapped tight around you waist. You never wanted him to let go and he was never going to.
This was your home for years to come, until the two of you were old and gray. That was the hope and hope was all you two had right now.
A couple weeks later after getting everything set up, you woke up to the smell of pancakes and bacon coming from the kitchen. Putting on your bathrobe, you walked into the dining area to see Remus in full swing. There were pancakes, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and coffee.
“Morning love,” he grinned, kissing you on the cheek as you went to pour yourself a cup of joe.
“What’s all this for?” You asked. Remus flipped a pancake, “I though we could make it a tradition, for our new home. Every Sunday I will make you breakfast.” He grinned.
You smiled and took a sip of coffee. It was burnt, as coffee was usually your specialty.
“That sounds lovely Remus,” you replied. “But I think I’ll stick to making the coffee every morning.”
a/n : I hope you liked this one! pls send more I love these ideas <33
heaters out: noah x reader
Tumblr media
Just some fluff about you and Noah dealing with a little power outage during your weekend away.
🥶🌬️⛄️❄️🩵
“Its freezing, Noah can you check make sure the heater is on please?” you ask from the bundle of blankets you’re buried under on the bed. Noah surprised you by whisking you away for the weekend to a secluded bed and breakfast in th mountains.
“Oh shit.” You hear noah mumble from the other side of the room. “Umm, I think the power is out. Let me run down to the front desk and ask really quick.” He runs over to where you’re huddled and gives the top of your head a kiss before quickly exiting.
You get out of bed to add more layers on, one of Noahs hoodies he brought back from tour and a second pair of fuzzy socks you packed. Hoping back under your mountain of covers you wait for Noah to get back. Several minuets pass and Noah returns with a bundle of fire wood, more blankets and a thermos of something.
“Well a few things.” He begins. “The power is out and we are snowed in for at least the next day or two until the snow plows can get up to clear the roads. Good news is I have firewood, more blankets and hot chocolate.” He throws the blankets onto the already comically large lump on the bed and sets to building a fire in the fire place. Thats the great thing about staying in cute bnb’s like this. Each room has a beautiful fire place but unfortunatly the electrical work is old and apparently prone to outages when the snowfall is heavy.
Crawling out of the cave of blankets, you move to sit on the small loveseat next to Noah as he pours two mugs full of steaming hot chocolate. “There is also a huge collection of games down in the library if you want me to beat you at monopoly again.” Noah jokes and you knock into his shoulder “hey! You totally skimmed from the bank last time.”
The two of you laugh as you warm up by the fire and drink the delicious chocolaty beverage that heats you from the inside out. “This is the best hot chocolate i’ve ever had.” You groan as you finish the last sip. Noah grabs a blanket off the the bed and you cuddle closer together, watching the fire shift in orange and reds and hear the wood crack and splinter. “They said they’d bring some more wood when it’s closer to dinner time so we should stay plenty warm tonight.” Noah tells you. We spend most of the day cuddled and reading by the fire.
Before dinner, which is soup the owner of the air bnb cooked over the fireplace in the main room. We played a game of monopoly like Noah suggested and he beats you. “How!? How are you so good at this game? You- you capitalist!” You joke and he holds his hand to his chest, gripping his heart. “Capitalist? I resent that, I’m just a master strategist.” You roll your eyes and laugh “okay, okay, but next time I get to pick the game.” He holds out his hand to shake and says “you got a deal.”
“Perfect. Strip poker it is.” His eyes widen and then he gets knowing look in his eyes. “You’re just trying to get me naked arent you? Last poker night you nearly got Jolly to bet the keys to his new car.” You both laugh because you’ve always won when you played poker. “What can I say, I guess I’m just lucky.” He leans over the small table you were playing at and kisses you softly. “I think I’m the lucky one.”
After eating you decide to both bundle up and go on a walk in the snow.
“Wow, it's so beautiful. I haven’t seen snow like this since I was a kid” you pick up some of the snow in your hands and ball it up tight. Noah is looking out onto the snow covered field so he doesn’t see you when you wind up to lob a snowball right into his left shoulder.
“oh! It’s on now!” He exclaims as he rushes to make his own snowball to throw in retaliation. The two of you spend the next 20 minutes until the sun has begun to set, throwing snowballs at each other until you start to feel the cold sneaking into your coats.
“Okay, time to go in and warm up” Noah says as he wraps his arms around your shoulder and ushers you back inside the bnb.
Heading back up to the room you get inside and quickly remove the first layer of our snow covered clothes. Hanging them to dry on the coat rack while Noah goes to start up the fire again.
In your warmest pajamas you sit cuddled on the love seat in front of the fireplace as Noah opens the bottle of wine the owner gave him after dinner and pours you each a glass. “This, along with the fire should warm us up pretty fast.” I comment as I take a sip of the silky red liquid. “I can think of a few other ways we could warm up.” Noah says in a sultry voice as he leans to place a soft kiss to my neck.
Camp Crystal Lake: Chapter 5
Tumblr media
Requested by @yellowjacketsbuzzbuzz
Joel Miller x f!reader (romance/horror)
Setting: Camp Crystal Lake
The reader is taking on the position of a camp counselor at the infamous Camp Crystal Lake. While she begins to enjoy her summer, even crushing on the camp director Joel, a killer lurks in the woods unbeknownst to anyone.
Crazy Ralph had been the buzz of the morning conversations. Joel eased everyone’s minds about the old man, and I was certain he probably wasn’t dangerous, regardless of how creepy his sudden appearance was. Annie was the only who remained slightly spooked, though I could understand why. If I had been the one to first encounter Ralph at the door it probably would have hit me differently, too.
Around eleven-thirty that morning, everyone had scattered around the assembly of picnic tables just outside to the left of the main cabin. Teri and Vicky sat side-by-side. I couldn’t remember the guy’s name with the wavy hair, but he lingered beside them with one foot up on the picnic table bench. I smirked to myself when I saw Teri give her friend a look and roll her eyes.
I was lucky that I naturally clicked with Sandra. She patted the spot beside where her, Jeff and Ted sat, and so I joined them.
“Hey, what’s green and red and goes a hundred miles per hour?” Ted asked. Goofiness radiated out of him and it made me chuckle.
“What Teddy?”
“A frog in a blender.”
“Ha, ha,” Jeff said dryly, “That’s not funny.”
Ted reached for a whistle around his neck and gently blew it, making his friend swing back and hit him gently. “I’m just testing this thing out, Jeff. Ya mind?”
“Alright,” Joel’s voice made me turn my head toward the porch. He wandered over toward us with a clipboard looking very camp-official with a pair of khaki shorts and a white t-shirt with Crystal Lake written in red, varsity lettering across the chest. “Let me get you your assignments here. We have to get this place in shape.”
“Yes, coach,” Ted teased, making everyone chuckle.
Joel smirked but went on. “So, I think from your personalities and your experience in jobs like this that you’ll enjoy yourselves this summer; but like I said, once the campers come you have to be on your game. Pay attention to whoever is in your group, take head counts, you know the deal. You’ve done this before. I’ll give you all that protocol closer to when the kids arrive in a few weeks.”
He began to read off the clipboard. “I paired you off and I have a little map to give each group so you know where you’re going for your jobs.”
I secretly hoped Joel would want to work with me, but that hope quickly diminished; however, I was happy to hear that I was going to be working with Sandra.
“(Y/N), Sandra,” he motioned to the two of us, “Today you’re both going to sand and paint the lifeguard stand. I have some extra supplies if you don’t mind making a sign that says, No Swimming When Lifeguard Is Not On Duty.”
I nodded, smiling as I did and Sandra gave him a two-finger salute.
“Mark and Scott, I put you in charge of the game room. I’ll give you the rundown of what I need from you there. Right outside of the game room we have to set up the archery range, too.” The wavy haired guy leaned over and gave Mark a fist bump.
“Ted and Jeff,”
“We’re the muscle, I know,” Jeff joked.
“Actually,” Joel gave a laugh, “You two are going to help me assemble the docks down at the beach. So, yeah, I hope you don’t mind a little physical exertion.”
Ted flexed his Gumby-like arms, “I’m here for ya boss.”
“Annie’s going to be in the kitchen and mess hall area getting things set up how she’d like. Tomorrow we’ll probably all be on painting jobs around the cabins to get this place looking a little more inviting. Make sure you’re all drinking plenty of water, it’s supposed to be hot today.”
The short meeting concluded and we went to retrieve a few papers from Joel. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a key, placing it in my palm.
“There’s a small shed down by the beach,” he informed me, “All the sanding and painting supplies are in there. I’m going to get the guys settled in the game room and then I’ll be down to help out Jeff and Ted with the docks, so if you need anything, I’ll be back in about fifteen minutes.”
I nodded, “Okay. Thanks.” I turned to Sandra, Jeff and Ted and the four of us made our way down to the beach together.
“I hope this is an excuse to get in the water,” Jeff said, wiping sweat from his forehead, “I’m already sweating.”
“We have to take a dip when we’re done,” Sandra said, looking at me.
I nodded. “I’m in.”
The two of us made our way up just a few feet into the trees at the top of the beach while the guys made their way toward the water. A green shed was tucked in between two giant pine trees, and Sandra took the key from me to open the door.
“Think he did that on purpose?” she asked, smirking as she looked back at me.
“Who?”
“Joel.” She flung the door open.
“Did what on purpose?” I followed her into the shed and a wave of heat him me.
“Put us all in the same area,” Sandra explained, “Particularly you.. and him.” She added, “Damn, it’s hot in here.”
I snickered and looked down, shaking my head.
“He’s got a thing for you.”
“No, he doesn’t.” I giggled again.
“He’s hot,” Sandra went on, in no rush to reach for the paint. “I wonder what it would be like to be with an older man.”
I smirked, caving in to the girl talk. “I wonder, too.” We both shared a laugh and she playfully shoved my shoulder.
“The second it happens, I want details.”
“Nothing is going to happen,” I insisted, toying with my ponytail.
“Would you? You know.. if he asked?”
I opened my mouth to speak and then thought for a second, leaving us in another chorus of laughter. “Who knows,” was my final answer. I kept it purposely vague, but it certainly wasn’t a ‘no’.
We finally retrieved the sanding supplies and two buckets of white paint. The fresh air just a step out of the shed made me sigh.
“It was really hot in there,” I said aloud to no one in particular as we made the short walk through the sand to the lifeguard stand.
Ted blew his whistle again, making us both snap our heads down toward the water. “That’s my stand, girls. Make sure you wax on and wax off correctly. I don’t want any slivers in my hiney.”
The two of us began to laugh at his choice of words.
“I’m leaving the top where you sit extra splintery!” Sandra called back, making him blow his whistle again.
I laughed at their interaction and soon after began to tackle the job at hand.
“This is the best summer job ever,” Sandra claimed, climbing up a few of the wood steps to sand the seat.
“Yeah, it seems like it’s going to be.” I removed my shoes and kicked them to the side before squatting down to get the base. We worked for a few uninterrupted minutes before I turned to say something else to Sandra. She had her neck arched, looking out past the shed into the woods.
“What is it?” I asked, glancing over my shoulder now into the trees.
Her eyes squinted and she used her hand to block the sun. “I don’t know.”
I rose to my feet now and followed her stare.
“I thought I saw someone,” she claimed.
“Hopefully it’s not Crazy Ralph,” I said back, making her chuckle and finally look down.
Sandra gave a wave now in the opposite direction we had been looking and wiggled her eyebrows at me. “Hi, Joel.”
I caught my breath and turned, trying not to drink him in as he marched in our direction.
“You two all set?” He asked.
I nodded and Sandra saluted him again. “I think so,” I told him.
“Good,” Joel tipped up the corner of his mouth in a smirk. The three of us turned toward the woods when there was a rustling sound. My gaze lingered for a moment before Joel’s laughter drew my attention back to him. “These woods will make your mind play tricks on you.” He gave a wink, and I smirked back at him. That wink made my stomach do flip-flops.
“I thought I saw something-” Sandra started, when another rustling sound made her glance back into the woods. She then quickly looked down toward the lake, where Ted and Jeff were both laughing.
Jeff launched a rock up into the trees, creating the same effect as before as it skipped through the leaves, making a rustling sound. “You girls are too easy to scare,” he claimed.
“Keep it up and it’s going to be a very cold summer for you!” Sandra shouted to him.
Everyone laughed. I admired Sandra’s go-getter personality. It was the opposite of my own, but I loved that she had a big voice and wasn’t at all shy. She definitely wore the pants in that relationship, as Jeff continued to laugh but obeyed her requests to cut the shit.
Joel shook his head with a smile. “Let me know if you need anything,” he said, glancing at Sandra first and then back to me. “Okay?”
I nodded. “Okay.”
“Okay.” He wandered down the sand and I admired watching him go.
“Tell him you need him to apply sunscreen to your shoulders,” Sandra whispered, making me laugh out loud.
“Stop it,” I whispered back, dabbing her arm with a streak of white paint.
Sandra’s jaw dropped but she immediately began to laugh and did it back until the two of us were standing there with our paintbrushes in a stalemate, staring at one another. “Truce.”
“Okay, truce.” I went to shake her hand and Sandra playfully streaked my other arm, sending us into a chorus of laughter again.
“Okay, okay.” She put her hands up and when I saw her glance out into the woods again, I couldn’t help but feel uneasy. “You don’t think Ralph would be watching us or anything, do you?”
I peered through the trees. “I doubt it. He’s got to be long gone by now. If we see him, we’ll report it.”
Sandra continued to stare for a second and then her carefree demeanor resumed. The remainder of the afternoon went a little something like that. It felt like we were being paid to have fun. I decided, for the final summer before I was ousted into the “real world”, it was going to be the best one.
[TW: rape, non-con, obsession, desecration of a sacred body]
Inspired by this and this posts
There's a saying that woods aren't what they seem. Wander too far, and you might get lost. But if you listen to the rustles, and follow the low whispers between the trees, you might stumble upon an unearthly place. Where the time seems dilated, and the space distorted.
If you're just a small child, there's a chance that you'd never come back. The Fae loves little humans, and it's not a surprise when many of them were lost in the forest.
When he's just a young child, he often heard about the missing cases. Another day gone, another kid disappeared. It's so common back then, that every parent would keep their kids away from the forest. Including his.
But still, the wonder of it got the best of him.
One day, when his parents were a bit careless, he slipped from the back door, and walked into the forest.
In the mind of an adult, his action might seem unreasonable. But at that time, he could only think about the sanctuary. The hidden place for ethereal beings, that the kids in town often whispered about.
The track to the place was steep, and he struggled to get through it. But once he arrived at the creek, all of his fatigue strangely disappeared.
He followed the stream, dipping his feet into the cool water. He took a sip of it, and tasted the mineral so sweet, he hunched down to drink some more.
Upstreams, the brook widened into a pond, with high, flowering walls of waterfall.
The sight of it was nothing he'd ever seen, and would continue to haunt him for decades. His pupils were blown, as they took in the beauty of it. He slowly walked further, until he reached a boulder near the cascade. It was at this moment, he found the trace of divinity.
Upon the big rock, he spotted a golden flow. It's not until he pulled it, that he recognized the shape of it. What's on his hands was a weightless veil—a Celestial veil.
And he was right, because the moment he lifted his head, he saw a figure on the cliff.
She's a pure being, glowing softly with her hair flowing with the stream. She's sitting on the protruding stone on the wall, washing her hair before her feet. The flowering tree did little to cover her body, and his eyes burned, as if he's looking right at the sun. While it should've been obvious by then, the little him couldn't comprehend what he saw wasn't a human. She's never a human.
It took a minute for him to close his gaping mouth, and a little more for her to notice his presence. And when she did, gone was her smile. Since what came after was a terrified gaze that pierced his heart, as if she saw something vile, repulsive. Something that's him.
She came down from the waterfall, and landed softly as if she's unbound from gravity. He clutched the veil tighter, while she approached him like one would to a beast.
"You shouldn't be here." She whispered, "This is not a place for you."
"Are you a Fey?" He asked, eyes fluttered with innocence and curiosity.
She opened her mouth, before she decided against it.
"You should go home." She muttered, before extending her hand towards him, "I'll guide you back, but please, return the veil to me."
"Why?" He pushed on, "Why should I give it back? Do you not want to take me?"
"No, I'm not—" She bit her lip, "Please, I won't harm you."
"How do I know if I can trust you?"
"You can, because I'm not a Fae." She pleaded, "You should leave, before they see you."
"Then what are you?" He tilted his head, "An angel?"
She froze, eyes widened as if he's holding a knife to her chest. He wanted to reach her hand, to offer some kind of comfort, but a sudden wind blew from the forest. It was so strong, that his clothes fluttered against his body.
"They're here." She mused, her voice filled with dread.
He gasped when she pulled him by his hand, and goosebumps broke out all over his body. He shuddered at her touch, and his legs gave out. She staggered when he fell on his knees, before she bent down to pick him up. In the corner of his eye, he saw a strange shadow standing between the trees.
She tried to take the veil from him, but his grip on it was too tight. Caused by a combination of shock and bliss from receiving an Angel's touch.
"I'm sorry." She murmured, before she cupped his chin and pressed her lips against his. Right at that moment, he felt Heaven on the tip of his tongue. His eyes rolled back in head, and his body turned limp in her arms. If her touch weakened him, her kiss could paralyzed him.
In the midst of haze and rapture, he felt the veil slip from his hand, before the breeze turned into gusting winds.
He must've blacked out during the flight, because the moment he opened his eyes, he's already in the arms of his parents.
Their tears had wetted his clothes, and his mother raised his head to see him. He couldn't hear the whispers from people around them, but he caught some of the repeated words. 'Lucky', 'missing', '3 days'.
When he laid on his bed, he traced his fingers on the place she had touched. His arms, his cheek, his lips… The caresses of her fingers still lingered on his skin. He wanted to meet her, to be touched by her again. Alas, he's prohibited from going to the woods.
He was screaming, crying, begging for his parents to let him go. But they didn't yield, they wouldn't give in.
At night, he'd curl up under his cover, as quiet sobs escaped his lips. With his fingers dug into his skin, in a futile attempt to preserve her touch. Yet no matter how hard he clung to it, the heavenly mark would slip away from his hands.
It's not until a half year later, that he finally got the chance to leave home.
He could remember the route like it's the back of his hand; see the big tree, and follow the stream. And when he found the brook, he let out a sigh of relief.
Yet it was short-lived, since the river went on. He didn't see any sign of sanctuary, no flowering trees, no sweet smell in the wind. He bent down to taste the water, but quickly spit it out. It was awful, it wasn't as pristine as he had before.
He looked up, trying to find any sign of the heavenly garden, but there's none. There were only grey clouds, and yellowing leaves upon him.
Faintly, he could hear chuckles and amused whispers from the forest. He turned his head towards the woods, and saw the moving shadows behind the trees.
'... the boy comes back for her…'
'... how cute…'
'... he didn't know that…'
'... she left…'
Perhaps if he could stop for a moment, and listen to them, he could see that his search was hopeless. But he was stubborn. Even after he walked through the creek, and found no flowering waterfall in the upstream.
That night, he's found by the townsman near the river. His eyes were red, and his hands were dirty with soil. The villagers escorted him back to his home, where his parents waited and prayed. They rushed to hold him, asking why he left, where he'd been, but he stayed silent.
He was bedridden for the next several days, from drenched clothes and sorrow he had yesterday. He remembers the weight in his heart, and the seeming emptiness within his chest. Of course, a young boy like him hadn't understood the heartache, but even then, he knew the sole cause of it was the Angel.
He pulled the blanket to his chest, gripping tightly as he sobbed. Why wouldn't she take him? Why wouldn't she look at him?
The questions would linger in the back of his mind, because the moment he looked in the mirror, the image of her flashed before his eyes. Why wouldn't she look at him? Was he so hideous, that she's terrified upon seeing him? If so, why would she kiss him?
He tried to ask the questions to his parents, but what he received weren't answers. Instead, they told him it's just a dream, because Angels didn't exist. He tried to tell the other kids around him, but he quickly learnt that no one believed him. No one found his story plausible, rather, they called him a liar. As a result, that name stayed with him throughout his school years.
On one day in October, as he hid behind the tree in the school yard, he vowed to himself to never tell a soul about his Angel.
While he kept her existence from the others, he still tried to seek her in the forest. When he grew up into adulthood, his parents ceased to worry about his whereabouts. For a reason that he's rarely home. When he's 18, he went down the path of the army. Which granted him more freedom to continue his search.
Of course, he had considered giving up and turned to worldly pleasures. But nothing could compare to her kiss.
It's a wonder how a single encounter could lead to a lifetime obsession. All his efforts, all his knowledge about the forest's paths were the result of a single desire—to see the Angel again. Yet after miles of walking through the woods, exploring every inch of the forest's paths, he found none of her. Not a single trace of her and her existence. Whenever he went back, empty-handed, he couldn't help but feel helpless. As if he's still the little boy who cried by the river.
The emptiness he felt isolated him from his peers, because he knew no one would understand him. When he agreed to the missions that required him to fight in the forest for months, many of his comrades questioned his decision. When he refused the comfort of the night women, the other soldiers would look at him strange. When he's lost in his thoughts, with his eyes fixed on the flowing river, his colleagues would whisper behind his back. Indulged themselves with rumors and speculations.
For a decade, he kept himself at a distance from the others. Until one night, when the alcohol loosened his tongue, he told the story of his past to his fellow soldier. For the first time in his life, someone listened to him without a frown.
"I know someone who knows about these things." He told him, "But I don’t know if he's willing to talk."
He sat up straight as he leaned forward, "Tell me."
His friend hesitated for a moment, before he cleared his throat. "He lived on the outskirts of town, just a bit further in the woods. Sometimes he's in the town's market, selling furs and meats from his hunting." He then leaned closer to say something in low tone, "But there's a rumor that he's selling other things, if you ask the right question."
"What's the question?"
The man shrugged, "I never asked."
He sighed, rubbing his face in frustration. "Alright." He retorted quietly, "Where can I find him?"
The next day, he visited the address his friend gave.
It was a 20 minute drive from the city, and the trip was slowed down since his house was off the beaten path. When he arrived at the driveway, he noticed a man by the house, bringing the axe down as he splitted the log.
As he approached the man, he sensed a piercing gaze on his face.
"What do you want?" The man scoffed, as he made no effort to hide his hostility.
"Someone told me you knew about the creatures in the forest."
"Deer?" The man sneered, "I can sell their pelts for cheap."
"No." He looked him straight in the eye, "I want information about Angels."
The man went quiet for a moment, before he shook his head in a jeering manner. "Another stray from the asylum."
"I'll do anything in exchange for the information."
It seemed to pique him, as he put his mocking facade down.
"Are you from the church?"
"Military."
"Why does a man like you want to know about Angels?"
"It's for personal reasons."
He grinned at him, showing yellowing teeth behind his lips. "You saw one, didn't you?"
He stayed quiet, and the man shrugged.
"It's not my business anyway." He mused, "I don't mind giving you information about Angels—for free, but I'll give you something better if you help me." He smirked, "I'll tell you how to catch one."
He stands on the edge of the dark woods, peering into the thick forest, where his first mark once resided. There's a quiet wind that carries the words from the past into his ear.
'... the boy comes back for her…'
He closes his eyes as he takes a deep breath, savoring the smell of the forest.
"First, you have to disguise yourself." The man spoke while he packed up the hunting tools, "Those creatures have a sharp sense of smell, and human's scent is very distinct. So you have to wear their skin to mask your presence."
"What about deer skin?"
"It won't work." He said, "You have to take it from their kin. But there's one creature who has a strong smell, just like a human. It's so strong that it puts other creature's guard down."
"What is it?"
The man smirked, before a familiar name slipped out of his tongue.
A damp musk mixes in with the woody smell, and his grip on the prize tightens. The unearthly cloak feels heavy in his hand—a reminder of his hunt that's still fresh in his mind. The owner of the robe lays down at his feet, with its head far from where he stands.
An iridescent blood drips from his hand, and into the ground below. Painting the grass with luminous hues. He lets go of the iron machete, which falls with a loud thud. It's a wonder how a pure metal could kill the unassailable.
He had seen this creature many times in the forest. The first time was when the Angel touched him, and the rest when he searched for her. It took a form of moving shadows, and he only saw it in the corner of his eye.
"Believe it or not, Faeries were once considered as the guardians of the forest." He chuckled, "It's because the forest is their home, of course they'd be protective over it. They're very territorial after all."
"Is that why their scent can lower other's guard down?" He asked the man, while handing the fangs of the beast. "Because they smell familiar?"
"Correct." He responded, "But acquiring it isn't an easy business, because they're half-immortal. You see this scar? I almost lost my arm because of it."
"Did you kill it?"
The man sneered, "Who do you think I am?"
"Who do you think I am?" He mused, unconsciously repeated the words from his memory. He scoffs, as he realizes how far he has gone for a single obsession. Killing a forest God just to wear its skin, so he can catch the Angel off guard.
As he walks through the path, he drapes the heavy cloak on his shoulders. Putting the deer's skull mask on, before pulling down the dark veil to cover his face. There's no way of telling if the disguise works, since human's noses aren't as sensitive as theirs. But when he tastes the water, he knows he's on the right track.
"Angels rarely change places," The man claimed, "Once they found a good place to stay, they'd stay until they had no choice but to leave." He then added, "If you saw an Angel somewhere, then it's possible you'd see them again at the same place."
"Then why couldn't I find her?"
"Because they hide from humans." He answered, "You could see them when your heart was pure. Oftentimes, kids were the ones who could see them, because their hearts were still pure." He let out an amused snort when he saw the look on his face, "I can understand why she went into hiding. You don't hide your infatuation."
The brook is still the same as he remembers. With flowering walls and waterfalls. His heart beats so loud against his ribcage, that he's afraid the Angel would hear it.
He sucks in a breath, before marching deeper into the pond.
Behind the large boulder, he sees a blinding light reflecting from the water. His eyes narrowed at the sight before him, before a figure began to form at the heart of the lights.
An Angel.
"How do you subdue them?" He asked the man, "If you can't take their veil?"
"That's easy." He replied, "Drench them with blood." He laughed when he went silent. "I didn't mean their blood or any kind of blood, but the blood of the innocent." He rummaged through his cupboard, before he pulled a jar of crimson liquid. "It's a bait for vampires, but you can use it to suppress an Angel."
He furrowed his brows, "How does that work?"
"I'm not sure myself." He scratched his chin, "But there's a theory that Angels are the protector of the innocents, so having their blood on them means they fail their duty. And if they fail their duty, well, you can guess what'd happen to them."
He feels the heat begins to pool in his groin, as he clutches on the blood jar. She's so pure, so unassuming, and he'll be the one who defiles her.
With his strong hand, he hurls the container towards her. It shatters upon contact with the rock, just an inch away from her body. She didn't have the time to react—nor make sense of the situation, as the crimson blood rained on her.
He doesn't waste any time as he runs to her, catching her by her arm. She shouts at him as she struggles, but she's become as weak as a human. It doesn't take as much effort for him to drag her to the shore.
"Stop!" She screamed when he pinned her down by the neck, "This is heresy. You can't do this."
"Should've thought twice before you kissed me." He snarls when she begins to kick her legs around, "Your kiss is a mark, isn't it? You've marked me as yours from the start."
"It was for protection." She declared with a trembling voice, "You couldn't possibly fend yourself from Fey, I had to do it to protect you."
"Don't deny it." He growled, as his grip on her tightened. "You chose me."
She whimpers when his hand locks in around her delicate neck, and she tries to push him away by his wrist. "I didn't. I never chose you."
He goes quiet for a moment, staring at her struggling form. The splatter of blood has painted her body red, staining her radiant skin with mortal essence. A perfect picture of sacrilege.
"I want to be good for you," He spoke as he shrugged the cloak off him, "But you leave me with no choice."
Her eyes widen in terror as she watches his hand descend to her stomach, before it travels down to her thigh. "No. No! Stop!" She cried out when he pried her legs open, before lodging his hips in.
"I heard an Angel can't feel pain," He sneered as he slipped his pants down, "Shall we put it to the test?"
Her scream falls to deaf ears as he rubs his cock against her tender hole, giving himself a few strokes, before pushing his member in.
"The most common method to catch an Angel is to steal their veil—or what we often call as their 'wings'." The man lifts his finger before he could interject, "But, they can always leave once they find their wings back. So it's not a reliable method."
"Then how do you keep them from running away?" He frowned.
"There are a few ways to do it, but it all boils down to the same thing." He took a drag of his cigarette, before puffing the smoke out of his mouth. "Make them commit a sin."
He throws his head to the back, eyes roll up as he lets out a loud groan. Her hole is tighter than normal humans, but the friction of her walls sends him into a delirium state. He almost slips into blackness, if not for the flailing legs against his shoulders.
"Scheiße." He hissed as he thrust himself into her, "You feel like Heaven."
She lets out a broken sob, as her face contorted with pain. "Please—" She begged, "You're hurting me."
"Am I?" He drank the sight of her, before he slipped his hand between her folds, "I'll make you feel good."
There's a bump right above her stretched hole, and the protruding lump feels like a little pearl on his thumb. And when he strokes it, it begins to throb against his fingertip.
"Once they're close to falling, their halo will be visible to human's eye. When that happens, you should pull it off their head."
A flash of light goes off in front of him, and he shuts his eyes from the bright blaze. It flares for a few seconds, before a ring of light materializes above her crown.
He stares at it with fascination and awe, and his grip begins to loosen up from her neck.
She gasps when he touches her halo, before his fingers wrap around the ring.
There's a hard resistance when he tugs on the halo, as if it's bound to a strong magnet. Her hands shoot up to grab his wrist, clutching onto him with a painful grimace on her face.
A doubt crosses his mind when the divine ring wouldn't come off of her, no matter how hard he pulls it. But with every slam of his hips, her halo begins to budge slightly.
"Because once they lose their halo,"
He presses his lips against her ear—whispering filthy things, while he rubs her clit mercilessly.
"Give in." He growled into her ear, "Give in to sin."
"N-no—"
"You have no choice." He retorted, as he pounded his cock into her harder, "Give in to me."
"They can't go back to Heaven."
She screams, as her halo starts to bend.
"No, no, no—! Stop this madness! Please—"
"It's too late." His lips curled into a cruel smile, "You're not going back."
Her walls begin to pulsate, and he feels a cold rapture creep up along his spine. He groans as she squeezes around him, sucking his cock deeper into her. Tears start to wet her cheeks, and he bends down to catch them with his tongue.
A wretched cry echoes through the forest, as the halo slips away from its anchor. He loses his balance, as it crumbles into dust the moment it leaves her crown, while the rest of it flies away with the wind.
Her body trembles from both shock and worldly pleasure, and a sharp moan leaves his mouth when her walls clamp onto his cock. Shoving him into a state of bliss, as he fills her up with his seeds. The foreign sense of fullness causes her body to curl up, and she covers her face as she begins to sob.
He doesn't let her mourn, since her loss is a blessing for him. He laps her cheek, tasting the saccharine drops that escape her eye. Even when her glow has fading, she still feels as heavenly as before.
"At last," He grinned, as he felt his cock throbbed at the thoughts of the future. "You're finally mine."
The coffee shop was more crowded than usual today. You supposed it might have something to do with the fact that today, the weather gods had decided that it would be the one, annual rainy day, forcing commuters to seek shelter indoors from the "deluge" (but what you considered to be, at most, a decent sprinkle). Southern Californians were decidedly not built for the rain.
You casually observed the casuals and regulars alike filtering in and out from your chosen table adjacent to the pickup counter. Your usual table, from where you'd set up shop, plinking away at your novel with your playlist and the welcome, muffled bustle of customers as backdrop busy-noise that filtered through your headphones for company.
People-watching was uniquely inspirational whenever you were facing a bit of writer's block, so you had opted for leaving the relative coziness of your nearby apartment – content to perch on at this table and allow the quirks of strangers to serve as fodder for your novel.
Except that today, it was more overstuffed than your favorite blue-velvet chair in your apartment. The queue of bodies waiting for their cups of caffeine and their matcha lattes causing the already-warm interior of the shop to fog the windows.
You'd just finished a particularly troublesome paragraph – How your two stubborn protagonists were ever going to set aside their differences as they made their way through the enchanted wood, you weren't one hundred percent clear on. But sometimes it was best to skip the mental obfuscation and jump straight into a part you were excited to write … their eventual love scene was beckoning you.
You worried your drink's straw between your teeth, eyes unfocused, pondering how to get Ser Marcus out of his shirt and beneath Lady Lucy, when he walked in.
Him.
The tall drink of water with broad shoulders and dirty-blonde hair. With a million-watt smile he graced to whichever barista happened to be handing him his coffee that day.
He looked like a Ken-doll, if you were honest. But not in a bad (junkless) way. More of an All-American, conventionally attractive way, if he'd asked you. Not that he had. You had certainly seen him here before. But you weren't sure the same could be said of him.
You watched idly as he breezed past you to place his order in a damp shirt that was veritably plastered to his torso, and running shoes that squeaked with rainwater, the noise making its way over the dull din of the shop.
Perhaps he'd been out for a run when the rain had started.
He spoke to Monica the barista at the counter, out of earshot, though the easy way he leaned against the counter and smiled at her made it clear he didn't mind his own state of dress. The sort of easy handsome of an Eastwood.
You had turned back to the blinking cursor of your doc, thoughts buzzing with handsomely tanned skin and wet clothes, when the unmistakable shadow of a person loomed over you.
You glanced up, only to be simultaneously thankful for your screen protector and greeted with –
"Hi there," he breezed.
It was Ken. In the perfect plastic flesh.
And, really, it was the fact that his torso was directly in your seated eyeline (and no other reason, you swear) that allowed you to notice (appreciate) that his already-rainwet and plastered shirt hugged his torso in such a way that allowed you to observe (appreciate) that you could see the outline of every. single. one. of his abdominal muscles, as though his shirt was made of flimsy tissue paper that might tear away beneath your touch.
No, this was fine.
"Uhhh." You were articulate, you swear. "Hi."
"Would it be alright if I sat with you while I wait?" He gestured over his shoulder with a pointed thumb vaguely in the direction of the pickup counter. "It's a little crowded in here today, and this is the only open seat."
Ah. An arrangement of convenience, and not that he wanted to sit with you.
You bit down your disappointment long enough to ease your lips into what you hoped resembled a smile, gesturing openly to the seat.
"By all means."
He shot a grateful–if not cheeky– wink your way as he pulled the seat out, angling himself to maintain eye contact with you, while still keeping one ear open for his name.
"Thank you, ma'am," he conceded politely, voice still warm and easy, as though no one had ever refused him a paltry request in his life. (And maybe they hadn't.) "I didn't exactly want to stand there in my wet clothes."
"No," you agreed. "Sitting in wet clothes is much more pleasant. Especially in those tight, Baby Gap-sized t-shirts. Everyone knows that."
"Everyone," he agreed, eyes twinkling and allowing you to appreciate just how green they were, glimmering, verdant and mossy, like the forest bedecked with fresh rainfall. How fortuitous, then, that he'd choose to sit with you on San Diego's one rainy day per year. "Teacher? Grading?" He nodded at your laptop, gem eyes flitting over the fading, curled stickers slapped onto the back.
You couldn't help yourself. You giggled.
"No," you shook your head. "Novelist."
"Ah," he conceded. "So whatcha writing?"
And as you made to open your mouth to tell him that he shouldn't really ask a writer those types of question, he perked, and held up a finger as if to say "hold that thought," as he shot up to retrieve his beverage from the counter.
He must've heard his name. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted. You tried not to feel disappointed that your one encounter with hot coffee shop guy had come and gone in the blink of an eye. And tried not to beat yourself up that you hadn't caught the name when it had been called…
To your surprise, he turned back and plopped himself back into the seat opposite you, expectant eyes awaiting your answer as he blew into the small hole at the lid of his coffee cup.
"Ehm," you continued. "It's… a … novel," you finished, lamely. Flushed with the prospect of having to admit to this guy that you wrote high-fantasy erotica for a living, your self-preservation instincts kicking in before you admitted something you wouldn't necessarily have the chance to come back from if he decided to make fun of you for.
And he was ridiculously handsome. The sort of guy who looked like he belonged on the cover of the type of book you were writing, billowing unbuttoned shirt, and all... Maybe he'd pose if you asked?
If he was annoyed or put off by your evasiveness, Ken-doll didn't show it, that million-watt grin easing its way back onto his very pleasing face, prominent jaw and white teeth on full display as he played along.
"I might've guessed," he said. "I'm Jake, by the way."
He held out his hand for you to shake. You responded in kind, allowing his hand to envelop yours with both size and warmth as you pumped your arm in a firm, decided handshake.
"I might've guessed," you parroted.
He shot you a quizzical look; brows furrowed.
"It's on your cup," you nodded in the direction of the cup clutched in his other hand, the corner of your mouth titling into a smile.
"A dead giveaway," he agreed, pleased that you had thought to make the observation. Maybe you were this way with everyone, he thought. All sweet smiles and starry, foxlike eyes, discerning but decidedly available. Selfishly, perhaps — he hoped that wasn't the case.
"Unless of course they had gotten the wrong name, and it's really, like, Jack, or James, or something," the fizzling pleasure of his hand on yours and the swelter of this coffee shop was really doing a number on your head, because now you were rambling. "Then if I had called you Jake based on the cup, I would've been both presumptuous and stupid. Like a 'Mark-with-a-C situation… Cark," you finished, unhelpfully.
"Now that's just unlikely, sweetheart," he disagreed. "You're clearly too sharp for that… Bridget." He squinted at your cup, greeting you with a name that was not your own.
"Oh, no…" you laughed, the pleased sound meeting his ears despite the relative staticky-din of the late-morning rush around him, "My name isn't Bridget," you explained, sheepish about the relative silliness of the game of being friends with one of the workers. "Uh, Monica likes to give me a new name every day I come in. Sort of to mock me for how often I come, I guess? We've known each other awhile. So, she's allowed."
If Jake thought it was childish or silly, he didn't let on, instead nodding and smiling at your explanation, still incomprehensibly interested in what you had to say…
"So that's why I see you in here so often," he conceded. "A novelist who writes in a coffee shop, where she knows everyone. Cute."
Out of any other mouth, it might have sounded condescending. But there was no hint of condescension in his honey-smooth voice. Only the facile twang of Southern charm and genuine earnestness.
But all you heard was that he'd seen you before. He had seen you.
And you must've asked this out loud, because the next thing you knew, he was all smooth laughter and glimmering teeth,
"Yeah, I've seen you," he agreed. "You always look so concentrated, I never want to interrupt. My mama raised me better than that. But today I actually had the chance to say hello. So, uh, thank the rain, I guess…" he eased.
And you'd really hoped that the pleased warmth of flirtatious embarrassment wasn't inclined to show itself in any way, across your face or the exposed skin of your shoulders. Because you were certain those sparkling eyes of his were shrewd enough to tell. And how could a guy like this not be aware of his effect on women? So, you pressed on, closing your laptop lid, the better to focus on him with.
"And what do you do, Jake? If you're out for a run in the rain, you're clearly committed. Let me guess," you tapped your chin in mock-consternation, voice trailing in thought. "Model? Please say no because that would be a lot for me."
Jake barked a laugh at this. And perhaps you'd incidentally, dangerously boosted what was already a high ego. But he continued in good humor –
"No, sweetheart. Not a model. Naval aviator," and he'd actually shrugged at that, like it was no big deal. "I'm at the base down the way. So, yeah, I guess you can say I'm dedicated."
You groaned, teasingly, fucking your head into your arms, "Oh fuck, no. So just a civil servant who looks like a model. You can get the fuck outta here with that." You leaned across the table to teasingly shove one of his (ridiculously sculpted) shoulders, pleased at the feel of him beneath your fingertips.
"It's my honor to serve you, ma'am," he straightened in his seat, taking on his best "official" voice. (Oh, god, this was doing a number on you.) He continued,
"In fact, I think you should let me take you to dinner…?" He trailed off, perhaps in realization that he still didn't know your name.
You twisted in your seat to pluck a pen from the messenger bag hanging from the back of your chair, turning back to pluck his cup from his very hands in a move so cheeky you would swear you were having some kind of out-of-body experience. You were never this bold.
But the attentions of this, okay, let's be real… this veritable Adonis before you was likely doing something dangerous to your own ego, never mind his. Your head was somewhere in the clouds (a place he was clearly comfortable, being a "naval aviator, ma'am," and all)..
You tugged the pen cap off with your teeth, your attention fixed on the label.
Huh. Vanilla soy latte.
You didn't comment on his drink of choice, choosing instead to strike through his name with the pen, and ink your own, your phone number printed clearly and neatly beneath it. Handing the cup back to him when you'd finished, recapping the pen as he twirled the cup in his hands to read what you'd put on the label.
He parroted your name back to you, the way his mouth worked out the letters an image you'd likely think about for a little too long, ya know, later... and the sound of it from his throat ringing in your ears.
"I'll text you," he assured, winking at you as he made to stand, rapping his knuckles on the corner of your table before mock-saluting you with two fingers to his forehead and an easy, charming grin on his lips. "I look forward to hearing about that novel over dinner, ma'am."
With that, he walked out of the shop, taking with him the air in your lungs and your certainty that that had actually just happened, and leaving you with the faintly buzzing feeling of lofty flirtation and the blooming promise of a fucking date!
Eager to capitalize on the fizzy feelings, you opened your laptop lid and turned back to your unfinished section now, wan smile borne of fresh flirtation affixed to your lips, your thoughts swimming in a seafoam green ocean of emerald eyes, breezy flirtation, and, yeah, tight t-shirts...
"It was then that Lady Lucy swung her leg astride Ser Marcus, devilish fingers peeling his tunic from his toned stomach. With a smirk painted across her features, she dipped her head, allowing herself to trace her tongue along the ridges and planes of her lover's stomach, reveling in the feel of each prominent abdominal muscle beneath her tongue. Greeted with the delightful sound of her beloved's surprised gasps, manifestations of pleasure at her attentions…"
And no, you reasoned with yourself as you typed. You totally weren't thinking of green-eyed, handsome Jake as you wrote. These desires were your character's, not yours – you swear.
And no, your thoughts also were definitely not on his promised text message, either, that lit up your phone as you glanced at it. Greeted with the proposition of "Dinner Thursday?" No, you totally weren't thinking of him…
It's life that imitates art, after all... (Or was it the other way around?) And you hadn't had the chance to taste those abs for yourself. (But hope springs eternal...)
It was unexpected for me that Claudia, Jonas, Noah and Elisabeth ended up being the post-apocalypse group, but the four of them fit so well together.
They don't really had screentime together, but I can't stop thinking about the apocalypse family and how much they can relate to each other.
Each one of them lost their naivety when they discovered time travel and learned a little more about the reality of their world, but they lost their innocence when they experienced the reality of their dads death.
Each member of the group carries the guilt for the death of their dads.
Noah literally killed his dad, influenced by sic mundus.
Claudia tried to prevent her dad's death and accidentally caused it.
Jonas was led to believe that he could prevent his dad's suicide when in fact he was the trigger.
Elisabeth was not to blame for her dad dying, but she probably felt guilty that he died trying to protect her.
They were completely broken, and the person who came to comfort them and give them hope was a member of the apocalypse family.
After Bartosz died, Noah told his younger self that he knew how it felt and that the pain of what he had done would pass. Noah knew that wasn't true. It would be a pain he would never forget. Since he was the one who had defined the irony of his dad's fate, it had only become more painful.
Claudia met Jonas for the first time after what happened with Egon, and she realized that she couldn't change things. Jonas appearead and let her know that they could change things. This happened after Jonas had spent a year traveling with an older version of Claudia.
Jonas met Claudia for the first time when he realized that he wasn't there to stop his dad and that his attempt to save him had failed again. At that moment, Claudia came and told Jonas that he could save them all. So Jonas goes to spend a year with Claudia learning about time travel.
After Peter dies, Elisabeth only knows of a place somewhere in the woods where Noah stays, and Noah only knows that he would protect her. In the cave, they find the passage, and Noah tells Elisabeth about paradise. Their connection gave them hope. Even when Noah felt hopeless himself, he only wanted to give Elisabeth hope.
They just tried to give them some comfort. In one of their darkest moments, they were there for each other and tried to never give up hope.
Also everything that losing their moms represented for them.
Silja died when Noah was very young and apparently Bartosz became distant.
When Doris left, Egon started to drink. It was probably at that moment that his relationship with Claudia became colder.
Their relationships with their dads deteriorated when they lost their moms. A disagreement resulted in the death of their dads. Noah and Claudia eventually saw their dads again, but it was a younger version of their dads who didn't yet recognize that version of them as their kid.
I think it is similar with Elisabeth and Jonas.
The first thing Jonas did when he got home was look for his mom, and he couldn't find Hannah. He probably thought he couldn't save his mom just like he couldn't save his dad.
Peter and Elisabeth were still trying to find Franziska and Charlotte, and after months she just thought they were dead. When her father died, I don't think there was any hope of seeing her mother again.
For years, Jonas and Elisabeth probably assumed that their moms had died in the apocalypse. It was unexpected the way they were reunited with their moms, and the revelations that came from it.
This group is so interesting to me because they experienced many years of friendship and then all that was left was betrayal. Although I will never forget all those years of friendship that I never saw.
