It was unexpected for me that Claudia, Jonas, Noah and Elisabeth ended up being the post-apocalypse group, but the four of them fit so well together.
They don't really had screentime together, but I can't stop thinking about the apocalypse family and how much they can relate to each other.
Each one of them lost their naivety when they discovered time travel and learned a little more about the reality of their world, but they lost their innocence when they experienced the reality of their dads death.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Each member of the group carries the guilt for the death of their dads.
Noah literally killed his dad, influenced by sic mundus.
Claudia tried to prevent her dad's death and accidentally caused it.
Jonas was led to believe that he could prevent his dad's suicide when in fact he was the trigger.
Elisabeth was not to blame for her dad dying, but she probably felt guilty that he died trying to protect her.
They were completely broken, and the person who came to comfort them and give them hope was a member of the apocalypse family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Bartosz died, Noah told his younger self that he knew how it felt and that the pain of what he had done would pass. Noah knew that wasn't true. It would be a pain he would never forget. Since he was the one who had defined the irony of his dad's fate, it had only become more painful.
Claudia met Jonas for the first time after what happened with Egon, and she realized that she couldn't change things. Jonas appearead and let her know that they could change things. This happened after Jonas had spent a year traveling with an older version of Claudia.
Jonas met Claudia for the first time when he realized that he wasn't there to stop his dad and that his attempt to save him had failed again. At that moment, Claudia came and told Jonas that he could save them all. So Jonas goes to spend a year with Claudia learning about time travel.
After Peter dies, Elisabeth only knows of a place somewhere in the woods where Noah stays, and Noah only knows that he would protect her. In the cave, they find the passage, and Noah tells Elisabeth about paradise. Their connection gave them hope. Even when Noah felt hopeless himself, he only wanted to give Elisabeth hope.
They just tried to give them some comfort. In one of their darkest moments, they were there for each other and tried to never give up hope.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also everything that losing their moms represented for them.
Silja died when Noah was very young and apparently Bartosz became distant.
When Doris left, Egon started to drink. It was probably at that moment that his relationship with Claudia became colder.
Their relationships with their dads deteriorated when they lost their moms. A disagreement resulted in the death of their dads. Noah and Claudia eventually saw their dads again, but it was a younger version of their dads who didn't yet recognize that version of them as their kid.
I think it is similar with Elisabeth and Jonas.
The first thing Jonas did when he got home was look for his mom, and he couldn't find Hannah. He probably thought he couldn't save his mom just like he couldn't save his dad.
Peter and Elisabeth were still trying to find Franziska and Charlotte, and after months she just thought they were dead. When her father died, I don't think there was any hope of seeing her mother again.
For years, Jonas and Elisabeth probably assumed that their moms had died in the apocalypse. It was unexpected the way they were reunited with their moms, and the revelations that came from it.
This group is so interesting to me because they experienced many years of friendship and then all that was left was betrayal. Although I will never forget all those years of friendship that I never saw.

1888 is the FUNNIEST Dark era for me.
First up, you've got Jonas appearing out of nowhere, middle-aged, after being missing for half a year, and he's all like 'leave your damn families, *I'm* gonna save you xx', before plonking them all off in said 1888, which I can only imagine going down with a 'Where are we, Jonas?' '.... fuuuuuuck....'
Then the previously discussed 'how do you do, fellow kids?' energy because he is *50 years old* and they are *not*, paired with the fact that he is likely awkward as FUCK since they don't have much to talk about anymore (and this man is socially deprived, he only gets to chat to someone about the loop every once in a while).
And the building resentment. Oooooooooo do we like some yummy tension within the group, because they can't really trust him, he feels he's failed them but is still determined to save them whist STILL resisting Adam-ification. Juicy, I tell you.
Also what are they doing all day. Literally. Jonas I assume spends most of his time tweaking the machine but like? What else? What do the others do? It's so damn hilarious how bored and annoyed out of their minds they must be that they (at least Magnus) WISHED the apocalypse had nuked them too.

Why There's No Bartosz in the Origin World: A Calculated Infodump
Tumblr media
So I know there were a few people who were upset about the fact that Aleksander and Regina's relationship didn't make it to the Origin World despite both of them still existing without time travel. I've also seen some people who said they felt bad for Bartosz because he didn't make it to the Origin World even though his birth wasn't the result of time travel. But after some careful consideration (read: hyperfixation go brrrr), I think I've come to a fairly logical conclusion about why this is the case. Originally, I thought that Aleksander and Regina only met because Aleksander pulled a gun on Ulrich to stop him from bullying Regina, and that event no longer happens with Ulrich out of existence. But there's more than that, and in this essay I will here is my explanation.
Tumblr media
In season 2, when Clausen is interrogating Aleksander about the disappearance of his brother, the real Aleksander Kohler, he mentions that his brother disappeared "without a trace. Nothing." When someone in Dark disappears without a trace, nothing, we can pretty safely assume that time travel is to blame. Clausen assumes that his brother is dead and suspects "Aleksander" (Boris) of being the guilty party, but the disappearance happened in Marburg, not Winden, so we don't see it play out. It could be a Mikkel situation (taking on a new identity and a new life in a different time), or a Mads/Erik/Yasin situation (he just died and his body was dumped God knows when).
The letter that Clausen receives tipping him off about travelling to Winden to get answers about his brother's disappearance would at this point likely be presumed to have been written by Claudia. But after the events of season 3, it's much more likely to have been written by The Unknown, for 3 main reasons:
Tumblr media
First, it includes the same quote ("he who has eyes to see and ears to hear...") that The Unknown says to Gustav Tannhaus before murdering him in 1888,
Tumblr media
second, the handwriting on the letter matches the handwriting used by The Unknown when he writes the notebook,
Tumblr media
and third, the motherfucker knows everything. Everything about what happens in both worlds, at every time, and is constantly catapulting between timelines murdering everyone in his way to make sure those events keep happening. (Though it remains unclear whether or not he knew there was a third world.)
So with this information under our belts, there's a pretty strong theory that The Unknown fabricated the Marburg incident to look like a murder and to make Boris Niewald look like the guilty party, which would lead to the following chain of events: Boris changes his name to Aleksander > he flees his past and comes to Winden > he meets Regina > the two of them get married and have Bartosz.
Tumblr media
Keeping Bartosz in existence definitely would've been in The Unknown's best interest as Bartosz needed to produce Noah, the perpetrator of many of the Adam's World disappearances, and Agnes, who the Unknown would get with in both worlds to produce Tronte, and the Nielsen loop would continue.
So ultimately, in a world without time travel, Aleksander Kohler never disappeared, and the other events subsequently didn't occur. Boris Niewald never changed his name, he never fled to Winden, he never met Regina....and they never had Bartosz. (Yes, the writers could've come up with another reason for Boris to come to Winden and meet Regina which could've yielded Regina Niewald and Bartosz Niewald, but based on the way everything was set up, it would've required an explanation and I'm not sure such an explanation could fit into the dinner scene without being hamfisted).
I won't lie, I was pretty sad about losing Bartosz as he was my second favourite character behind Claudia (who thankfully made it), and he was the one member of the teen generation I really thought would survive. But if you can come up with a way for him to still exist, by all means, write a fix-it fic. That's what they're for. (Some good examples can be found in this post by @haljathefangirlcat)

Dude no one told me that Bartosz was THIS fine!
Tumblr media
Like Young Bartosz was great but THIS??? THIS IS SOOO GOOD!
Silja you really made your man be damn hot right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now I finally see the resemblance between these two. To me they didn’t look too much alike in the series, guess it’s just how their hairs always so greasy and how they have little to no sense of fashion in the 1920s XD

I think it’s amazing that in all those different timelines and versions of the world, they never managed to find one where Bartosz had good hair.
