Day 23 ~ Flowers
Tumblr media
On the day of Pete and Penny’s wedding you wanted your hair braided with flowers in it. (Reader = 16)
“Come on dad we are going too late to your own wedding. Move it.” You giggled as he quickly walks towards the church doors. “Okay little missy, whose fault will that be huh?” he sassed back as he stopped before the church and you just smiled at him and shrug your shoulders. “Not mine I was done hours ago.” He said again with a teasing smile. “Someone had a problem with everything that they did with your hair.”
“Okay first of all you were done half an hour ago. Second of all I wanted a specific look for my hair okay.” You sassed with a grin. “Thirdly if they listened to me the first time they wouldn’t have to change my hair the whole time. Fourthly I can be a bit mean so that is why I apologised the whole time I was sitting in that chair.” You grinned up at your father.
Tumblr media
“No that is not what I wanted. Please fix it.” You said at the stylist with a sigh lifting your shoulders to work out the kinks. “I want it moved up please and the flowers must be like the image I showed you.” You pleaded and the stylist just nodded. “Sorry for being so demanding but I have wanted my hair like this more a while and I want it perfect.” You said with a guilty look on your face. “It’s really no problem miss Mitchell. You are one of the calmer client’s hair I have done.” She teased and you just giggled.
“Okay thanks.” You said and she started back on your hair. A while later your dad walked into the room with a grin on his face. “Are you still busy? I could use some help.” He asked holding up a tie. “Give us like 10 minutes mister Mitchell then she is all yours.” With that your dad nodded and you looked at him in the mirror. “Why don’t you ask one of the guys to help you dad.” You question with a confused look on your face.
“Oh yeah I forgot about those guys.” He said rubbing his hand over his face. “Was this just a scheme to see how far I am or if I am being a bit of a control freak.” You asked with an eyebrow raised and he just laughed. “You caught me. Just wanted to see if she hasn’t pulled out your hair for being such a bossy teen.” He chuckled and the stylist just giggled. “Hey!” you exclaimed with a finger pointing at Pete. “I will have you know…” you started but cut yourself off when you had nothing to say. “Yeah that is what I thought.” Maverick said and the hair stylist just giggled along with you.
“Okay get back to your boys I will be done in a while then I will come and find you.” You said pointing at the closed door. He nodded and off he went. “Dads.” You sighed with a small smile and Amy just nodded. “Yes that is exactly what I wanted.” You said looking in the mirror. “Thank you so much Amy. I love it. Again I am so sorry for being so demanding.” You said hugging your arms to your chest looking at yourself. “No problem Y/N. I am glad you like it like this.” She smiled at you.
Tumblr media
“Okay dad let’s get you married.” You said as Amelia joined you at the door. “Mom is almost here so you can go in so long Pete. And you my future sister look super beautiful.” Amelia gushed looking at you. “And you my future little sister look absolutely stunning.” You giggled gushing about her beautiful baby blue dress. “Okay ladies let get this show on the road.” Pete said looking at his watch seeing that it is almost three o’ clock. “Good luck dad. I will see you inside.” You said hugging the man and pushing him towards the doors. “Okay behave you two.” He wiggled his finger and you and Amelia just laugh at his antics. “Get inside old man.” “Hey!” he yelled. This caused you and Amelia to burst out laughing as Pete walked away shaking his head muttering about teens and giving him grey hair.

“y/n/n, come on! We don’t want to be late you know what they get like!” Maverick calls through the house, pulling his aviators out of his jacket pocket and sticking them on his face. It takes you but a minute to come down the stairs putting your own sunglasses on as you pick up the bag of things you were going to be bringing with you to the beach.
“I’m here, cool your jets dad.” You laugh as you walk past your dad as he rolls his eyes, grabs his keys and follows behind you. The two of you walk to the beach, chatting amongst each other until you reach the beach.
“Who did you say was coming again?” You ask as you scour the beach for your dads’ teammates.
“Goose, Ice, Slider, Wolfman, Hollywood, and their families of course.” Maverick replies as he looks around for his friends, a grin crossing his face when he catches a glimpse of his RIO waving madly in their direction. Maverick points Goose out to you, and you make your way over to him. Goose is quick to drag you into a hug, ruffling the top of your head as you groan and swat at his hand jokingly.
“You’d think you hadn’t seen me in years, Uncle Goose.” You laugh as you’re finally released from the hug.
“Forgive me for missing my niece after I went away for a week.” Goose says, a mocking sarcastic tone to his voice as he places a hand on his heart.
“I missed you too. But just between us, I think dad missed you most. He seemed pretty lost without you.” You say quietly, eliciting a laugh from Goose as he throws his head back. Goose had gone away for a week with Bradley and Carole to visit Carole’s parents and Maverick had moped around without his partner in crime.
“I better go say hi.” Goose says with a grin, patting your shoulder before crossing to Maverick, allowing Carole to sweep you up into a hug.
“Hello, sweet girl! How have you been?” Carole asks sweetly as she hugs you. When she pulls away, her hands remain on your upper arms as she smiles at you.
“I’ve been good Auntie Carole. It’s summer so there’s not been much to do, especially when the Bradshaws are out of town.” You shrug with a soft smile. Carole nods with a smile of her own as she releases you, allowing Bradley to greet you.
“Hey y/n/n.” Bradley greets, waving slightly as your jaw drops in mock offense before tugging him into a hug.
“Don’t you tell me you’re that after a week away you’re too grown up to hug your best friend?” You ask teasingly as you hug him tight.
“Never.” Bradley replies, wrapping his arms around you and reciprocating the hug. Bradley’s hugs always felt safe, his height meant you were perfectly cocooned in his embrace, and it felt like nothing could hurt you.
“Let’s get this party started!”
“Slider, it’s not a party.” You and Bradley break apart at the familiar sound of Iceman and Slider’s friendly bickering. You turn to see the two men approaching your dad and Goose with their wives following behind. Slider had recently married his long-term girlfriend Jessica whereas Iceman had been married to his wife Sarah for a couple of years and was expecting their first child. You went over to greet them happily, hugging each person with a smile as you greeted them.
“Wolfman and Hollywood aren’t here yet?” Slider asks as he glances over at Goose and Maverick who shake their heads with a laugh.
“Those two are never on time.” Your dad laughs as he thinks about how Wolfman and Hollywood would always turn up late to any meet up the team organised. Those of you who had just arrived began to set up the stuff you’d bought. You laid out a towel while your dad set up his beach chair. As you plunge the sun umbrella into the sand to cast a shadow over your dad’s beach seat, you hear the familiar voices of Wolfman and Hollywood as they approach with their wives in tow. Hollywood had his young daughter in his arms while Wolfman was chasing after his rambunctious twin boys. You greeted the aviators and their wives before returning to Carole to help her and Bradley set up some more beach chairs alongside where you’d set up stuff for you and your dad. Once everyone had set up their beach things, you pulled your shirt and shorts off, leaving you in a bikini as you kicked your flip-flops off. You wanted to get some tanning time in, and you figured you’d go for a swim at some point as well. You sit on your towel, at first reading your book while the adults chat amongst each other. The wives took to gossiping amongst each other, wanting to know the ins and outs of what was happening around town while the men talked about how things were going at work. Iceman talked about how he was put forward for an early promotion and was working as hard as possible to get it. You tried to focus on your book, but it became a near impossible task when Bradley sprawled himself across half across your towel, half across his own as he grinned up at you with that lopsided grin you loved so much.
“Can I help you, Bradshaw?” You ask teasingly as you glanced over the top of your book, seeing his large smile which made you smile too.
“We’re at the beach. You don’t need to be reading.” Bradley insists, reaching up to take the book out of your hands, making sure to put the bookmark in for you before tucking the book back in your bag.
“What if I like reading on the beach?” You quip, raising an eyebrow at Bradley who shrugs shamelessly.
“Well, I must be doing an awful job at being an entertaining friend. C’mon, let’s do something fun! I think dad bought a football.” Bradley says, grabbing you by the hands and pulling you to your feet. Once you’re on your feet, Bradley digs around in the bag his parents had bought before triumphantly pulling the football out and holding it above his head.
“Are the old timers joining in?” You ask teasingly as you glance at your dad and his friends.
“Old timers?”
“You’ve got some sass, Mitchell.”
“You asked for it, kid.” Your words sparked mock outrage within the group of aviators as their wives laughed at their shock. All the aviators scrambled to their feet, Wolfman snatching the football out of Bradley’s hands before moving to a clearer area of the beach so you could toss the ball to each other. The group of you pass the ball to each other, laughing as the women call out to their husbands in an attempt to distract them.
After five minutes of playing catch, Slider looks over to where you were laughing and exchanging a high five with Bradley when he caught sight of a group of teenage boys a little way down the beach staring at you, clearly admiring the sight of you in a bikini. Clenching his jaw, Slider gestured for his teammates to join him.
“Sorry kids, the old timers need five minutes.” Slider laughs as the rest of the team approaches him while you and Bradley roll your eyes, content to toss the ball back and forth between yourselves for a bit.
“What’s up?” Hollywood asked, folding his arms across his chest as he approaches Slider, all of them wondering why they were called over.
“There’s a group of boys eyeing up mini Mitchell. They’re just staring right now but I thought we should keep an eye out.” Slider says lowly, just in case either you or Bradley overheard what was being said. When Slider noticed all of their eyes widening, he quickly shushed them before the outbursts could begin. Goose was quick to grab Maverick before he stormed across the beach to give them a piece of his mind.
“Why are teen boys so gross?” Maverick grumbles, quickly locating the group of boys and hating the way they were staring at his little girl.
“Mav, you were exactly the same when you were that age. To some extent, you still act like that.” Goose says, raising an eyebrow and chuckling when Maverick glares over at him.
“Goose, not the time.” Maverick hisses over at his best friend who simply lets go of him and holds his hands up in defeat.
“Alright, we’ll keep an eye out. Just don’t tell her what’s going on. We don’t need to freak her out.” Iceman says, cool and calm as ever but everyone could hear the tension in his tone. He hated when guys would shamelessly stare at women and make them uncomfortable. And he knew that Sarah was pregnant with his daughter, and he hated the thought that she’d be born into a world where men acted like that. The team of aviators share a knowing nod with each other before breaking apart and returning to the game. They play catch with you and Bradley for a little longer until Wolfman’s twin sons decided to start clamouring for ice cream, which causes Hollywood’s daughter to beg for ice cream too. Eventually, the whole team buckled and decided to go and get ice cream. You and Bradley elected to stay with all the beach stuff to ensure nothing was stolen. You kept a vigilant eye on everyone’s belongings while Bradley laid on his back, a pair of Goose’s aviators on his face as he soaked up the sun. Before too long had passed, you heard the familiar voices of your dad and his team as they approached. Wolfman’s twins immediately came rushing over to you and Bradley, proudly showing off their ice creams while Hollywood’s daughter was more content to stick by her mum’s side, shyly offering the two of you a wave that you both returned.
“Isn’t it crazy that it used to just be us two kids? And now Hollywood and Wolfman have kids, and Ice is expecting his first. We’re the oldest kids here now.” You say, glancing over at Bradley who props himself up on his elbows.
“Technically speaking, I’m the oldest.” Bradley says with a smirk before you shove his shoulder, causing him to fall flat on his back.
“Only by a year.” You say, laughing as he reaches out to flick your arm.
“That’s a whole year of life experience I have that you don’t.” Bradley teases, sitting up properly.
“Oh, I forgot. Being fifteen makes you a pro at life.” You say, rolling your eyes as you laugh. As you and Bradley talk, Hollywood decides he’s had enough of the boys staring at you from afar, so he enacts his plan to try and get you to change. He pretends to trip and drops his ice cream all down your front.
“I’m so sorry, kid. Do you have some clothes to change into?” He asks sheepishly as the rest of the team laughs at his mishap.
“Don’t worry. I’ll just go for a swim. That’ll help wash it off. C’mon Bradley.” You say dismissively to Hollywood before grabbing Bradley’s hand and starting off towards the sea.
“Well, that didn’t work.” Hollywood mutters, dropping down into his beach chair and watching as the teen boys were watching you drag Bradley down to the sea. Seeing you and Bradley going towards the sea, Wolfman’s twins started saying that they wanted to go in the sea too.
“Alright boys, I’ll take you down there.” Wolfman says, gaining cheers from his kids. As Wolfman’s wife gets the boys ready, smearing them with suncream the second they took their shirts off leaving them just in swim trunks, Wolfman turns to Maverick and asks for your spare towel, an idea formulating in his head to get the teen boys to stop their hopeless staring. Wolfman then got up from his seat, slinging your towel over his shoulder as he leads his kids down to the sea, laughing to himself as they barrelled in, both immediately being knocked over by a wave. He shot a glance over at the teen boys and he noticed they were now pulling their shirts off and heading into the sea. He noticed how they didn’t make a move to come any closer, maybe the presence of the aviators and Bradley was enough to keep them at bay but not quite enough to stop their stares. Wolfman moves his attention back to his kids and smiles as you and Bradley let them hop on your back letting them splash sea water at each other, laughing as you and Bradley get caught in the crossfire. When the boys tire of the sea, they wade back to the shore and approach their dad.
“Dad, I’m hungry.”
“Dad, I’m starving.” Both boys complain the second they reach Wolfman who rolls their eyes, it had been not even fifteen minutes since they finished their ice creams.
“Let’s go to your mum, I’m sure she packed something for you.” Wolfman urges, guiding his boys back towards his wife so they could dry off with a towel and get something to eat. When Wolfman turned his head to see you and Bradley exiting the sea, he came barrelling over to you, wrapping you up in the towel as you laugh at Wolfman’s sudden appearance.
“Uncle Wolf, no offence but what?” You manage to say through laughter as you’re swaddled in the towel.
“Don’t need you getting cold.” Wolfman says as he takes a step back, happy with his handiwork.
“And you don’t care if I get cold?” Bradley asks, a raised eyebrow as he laughs.
“Just teaching Mitchell junior how a man should treat her. As her uncle it’s important she knows how she should be treated. Take notes Bradshaw junior.” Wolfman says before heading back up to his wife.
“Does he know that your parents are the literal definition of romance? Any girl would be lucky to have you, Bradley.” You grin as you unravel yourself from the towel cocoon that Wolfman had trapped you in. Bradley watched as you walked further up the beach towards your dad with a slight blush on his cheeks. He had been harbouring a crush on you for a while now and he was still working on the courage to ask you out. As Bradley glances around the beach, he notices the group of boys staring and narrows his eyes. He didn’t know who they were but their unashamed staring and jostling of each other made them public enemy number one in his eyes. He chased after you and went to join you again when Wolfman’s twins came darting over to him, now full of food and energy and demanding he plays fighter pilots with them. Bradley looked over at you, seeing you sat on your towel with Hollywood’s daughter in your lap, sunglasses atop your head as you read her the book, she’d brought with her before turning back to Wolfman’s twins and agreeing to play with them. When you finish reading the story to Hollywood’s daughter, you noticed that she was starting to get sleepy and you figured it was time for her nap.
“I got her.” Hollywood says softly as he lifts his daughter from your lap, smiling softly at the feeling of her winding her arms around his neck and snuggling closer. You glanced over at Bradley who was currently pinned down by two hyper boys as you chuckled lightly to yourself but not caring to get involved. As you move to grab your book, Goose, who had been returning from a nearby shop after Carole realised she’d forgotten a water bottle, chose to accidentally trip over Maverick’s beach umbrella. The pole missed hitting you, and the umbrella shielded you from the stares of the teenage boys who groaned and exchanged looks with each other at not being able to see you anymore. Using the opportunity they had, Iceman and Slider glared over at the boys, hoping their joint cold stare would be enough to get them to back off.
“I’m so sorry y/n. I didn’t hurt you, did I?” Goose says quickly and apologetically while you wave him off with a laugh, shifting to be sat on your knees so you could get the umbrella upright again.
“All good, Uncle Goose. No harm done.” You grin up at your uncle who ruffles your hair with a smile before moving to sit with Carole. He looks over to where the boys were and they were still looking, not as much as before but still obvious enough to anyone.
“How have these idiots not got the hint yet?” Goose mutters to himself, being overheard by Carole who chuckles and grabs his hand.
“They’re teenage boys, Nick. Boys do stupid things like stare at pretty girls. Our Bradley’s been doing it all day as well.” Carole says, gesturing lightly with her head towards their son who had just been freed from the clutches of Wolfman’s twins and he was immediately looking over at you with a grin.
“We love Bradley. We want Bradley to admit his painfully obvious feelings. It’s different when it’s a bunch of teen boys we don’t know staring from across a beach.” Goose grumbles as he looks from his son to the boys across the beach.
“Aren’t you cold?” Your dad's voice pulls you out of the focus you had on your book, making you raise an eyebrow at him.
“What?” You ask, shocked that question had left your dad’s mouth at how hot it was outside.
“I was asking if you were cold, it’s a little chilly, don’t you think?” Maverick then says, grabbing his jacket and holding it out towards you with an expectant look.
“Dad, respectfully, it’s summer in San Diego and you’re asking me to put a jacket on?” You ask, wondering what on earth got into your dad for him to be acting this way.
“I’m just looking out for my daughter. Don’t need you catching a cold or anything.” Maverick replies, returning his jacket to the bag and leaning back in his beach chair. You rolled your eyes and returned your attention to your book as Maverick muttered under his breath about how annoying those boys were, all unheard to you. Once again, you were torn away from your book by Bradley snatching the book out of your hand, putting the bookmark in and closing it once more.
“I’m letting the team down again. Come on let’s do more beach shit.”
“Bradley Bradshaw!” Bradley was cut off by Carole who was glaring daggers at him for his choice of language.
“Sorry, mum.” Bradley apologises with a sheepish tone, his hand reaching up to rub at the back of his neck as he shrunk further under his mother’s gaze.
“Look at what you men have done to my sweet Bradley.” Carole tuts as the aviator's exchange looks with each other.
“It’s what happens to military brats, unfortunately. y/n’s just as bad.” Maverick shrugs unapologetically, looking over at Carole with his signature flashy smile.
“Let’s escape this conversation.” You whisper to Bradley, getting up and walking away from the conversation with Bradley hot on your heels. Bradley glanced over in the direction of the boys and when he saw them jostling each other and laughing as they stared at you, he instinctively wrapped an arm around your shoulders, tugging you into his side. He felt a sense of triumph when he looked across the beach and saw the boys finally leaving, all glaring at Bradley who simply gave them a shit-eating grin.
“Is this your idea of beach shit?” You ask, a raised eyebrow at Bradley’s actions as you hoped he didn’t notice your now flushed cheeks. Bradley remained silent, his brain short-circuiting at the way he was holding you. He could handle a hug, holding your hand would cause a slight blush but having you tucked into your side was causing him to stop functioning. He thought about how he had asked his dad for advice on how to ask you out and the only help Goose provided was saying to just ask, that the worst that could happen was you saying no.
“Hey, y/n. Can I ask you something?” Bradley asks, releasing you from his embrace and turning to face you.
“Of course.” You say, a gentle smile gracing your face as he takes your hand carefully.
“Do you think… I could take you out on a date sometime? Maybe that old diner along the beach?” Bradley asks an unusual shyness sneaking into his voice as he looks down at your hand where your fingers interlaced with his.
“I’m free after school on Friday.” You say, your smile widening slightly as Bradley looks up at you. His smile grew ten times larger when he locked eyes with you from behind his sunglasses. He lifted his free hand to set his aviators on top of his head so he could make proper eye contact with you.
“I think I can arrange something.” He says teasingly, making you laugh before he tugged you into a hug.
“Seven o’clock at the diner sound good?” He asks as he squeezes you slightly.
“Sounds like a plan Bradshaw.” You agree.
Further up on the beach, Goose had been watching the entire interaction from afar. He didn’t know what words had been said but he knew that from the shy smiles on your faces that Bradley had said something of significance regarding his feelings.
“Honey, look, I think our boy finally did it.” Goose says excitedly to Carole, drawing her attention to you and her son.
“Oh, look at them. It’s about time.” She gushes, grabbing Goose’s hand as her smile grows.
“Hey, Mav. Looks like we’ve got a wedding to plan.” Goose says over to his best friend, getting Maverick to look at where you and Bradley were now heading down to swim in the sea again.
“Absolutely not.” Maverick says, cringing at the thought of his daughter marrying anyone.
“Maverick, you know better than anyone that our Bradley is perfect for your daughter. She lights up around him. They’ll get married, mark my words.” Carole says, making Maverick shake his head with a chuckle before focusing his attention back on you and Bradley, where you and his best friend’s son were in the sea. He’d never admit it to anyone, maybe to Goose if he was drunk enough, but he knew Bradley was the guy for you. He saw the way you looked at each other and it was exactly the kind of pure love Goose and Carole had. He wanted nothing but for his daughter to have someone who could keep her safe when Maverick couldn’t, and Bradley seemed to step into that role without a hitch.
“I’m making a bet. Fifty bucks says we have a Bradshaw-Mitchell wedding in our future.”
Maverick couldn’t even begin to argue with that and so silently prepared himself to be giving Goose fifty dollars in the future.

Save Me From Myself
The porch swing moved gently as you sat on it with your feet tucked under you, the history book off to the side open to the assignment you were working on. Your earbuds were tucked into your ears, playing music from your discman as you enjoyed the last throes of summer. It was your favorite time of year, still warm enough to wear shorts and tank tops during the day, with the crisp fall air sweeping in at night off the ocean.
Setting the pen and notebook down on your lap, you reached for the glass of iced tea on the table beside you and took a long sip, looking out at the sky as the sun started to set. You swept your hair off the back of your neck and put it into a messy bun, giving you some relief from the late summer humidity and you set back to finishing your assignment when you heard the sound of raised voices coming from inside your house over your music.
You took one of your earbuds out in order to hear what was going on just as the louder of the two voices came closer to the front door. “You’re not my fucking dad, so just let me live my life!”
“I never said I was your dad, but I am your guardian until you turn 18, and this is my house, so you will follow my rules.” As the words left his mouth, you sighed, understanding that while your uncle was trying to lower the temperature of the situation, it was only going to upset him further.
“Fuck you, Commander.”
The words came out as a growl, and before you heard any response from your uncle, your best friend of nearly ten years burst through the front door, practically jumping off the porch on the way to his father’s old Ford Bronco that was parked in the driveway.
Throwing your notebook and headphones down, you grabbed your flip flops and caught up to him just as he ripped the door to the truck open. “Bradley, wait,” you said, resting a gentle hand on his forearm before he could climb in. You glanced back at the door to your house to see your uncle standing just inside the screen door still dressed in his khaki uniform, having just gotten home from work. He looked between the two of you briefly before turning away and moving deeper into the house, hoping you would have better luck at calming him down. “What happened?”
His chest was heaving and he ran his right hand through his wavy hair as he shook his head. “Maverick’s an asshole,” he muttered, gently shaking your hand off his arm.
“He’s just worried about you. He promised your mom he’d keep you safe, you know that,” you tried, tucking your hands into the back pockets of your cutoff shorts. You knew what he had been up to, hanging out with the wrong crowd all summer, and you would be lying if you said you weren’t worried about him too.
“It’s not his job,” Bradley sighed, turning away from you and sliding into the driver’s seat of his truck before starting it up, the engine roaring to life. “I can’t be here right now. If you want to come with me you can, but I’m leaving.”
Looking back to the house again with a sigh, you nodded and moved around to the passenger side of the truck, sliding into the front seat beside him. You wanted to talk more, but he was still radiating anger and you knew that driving would calm him some. The conversation could wait until you got to your destination, unless he wanted to talk before then.
Bradley Bradshaw had been your best friend since you moved to Virginia Beach to live with your uncle, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, when you were eight years old. Your parents, his brother and sister-in-law, had died in a car accident and wanted him to take custody of you in their will. Maverick was very close with Bradley’s mother, Carole, ever since his father, Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, had died in a training exercise when Bradley was only two.
He helped raise the boy in his friend’s absence as much as he was able, given the frequent deployments and special detachments he was sent on. It was even more challenging once you came to live with him a few years later, but fortunately Carole stepped up and you routinely stayed with her and Bradley when Maverick was away, even going so far as having your own room at their house.
You dropped your flip flops to the floorboard of the truck and pulled your legs up to sit cross legged on the passenger seat, glancing over to Bradley on occasion as he drove further away from the house. Things had been tense since Carole died in March and Bradley had been slowly spiraling further and further out of control, unable to deal with the loss. Your uncle had tried getting him into counseling after he came to live with you, but he refused to go, choosing instead to start drinking and smoking pot. He had even quit playing baseball, something he had done for as long as you had known him. You couldn’t help but feel sorry for him, losing his dad so young and now losing his mom too. In some twisted way it made you feel fortunate that you lost both your parents at once.
His hand was resting on the shifter, and when you noticed that his grip on it had loosened, a sad smile tugged at the corner of your lips. You didn’t like seeing him upset, and lately it seemed he was looking to self-destruct, pushing everything and everyone he loved away.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked, his voice much calmer than it had been at the house as he looked over at you, bringing the truck to a stop in a parking lot beside his favorite beach.
You shook your head and looked up into his hazel eyes. “Just worrying about you.”
He rolled his eyes and shoved the car door open with a grunt, climbing out of the cab and heading toward the beach. You got out and followed him, the long strides that matched his 6’1” frame forcing you to jog to catch up. When he finally spoke, you could hear the frustration in his voice returning despite his attempts to hide it. “You don’t have to worry about me. No one does. I’m fine. I just want to get on with my life.”
“Sounds like you’re trying to burn it to the ground.” The statement made him stop and turn to face you. His large hand ran through his hair as he sighed, opening his mouth to speak when you stopped him with a finger to his lips. “Don’t. You quit baseball, you don’t come to school half the time, you’re drinking, smoking… what are you doing, B?”
You challenged him, and it was his favorite thing about you. He was silent for a long moment, the two of you staring each other down, before he finally sighed and sat down on the sand, looking out at the ocean as the sun began to set. “I don’t know,” he said, resting his forearms on his knees. “I want to get out of here, away from VA Beach.”
“Then why don’t you just do it right? You’re at the top of your class, and right now you’re throwing it all away. Graduate, enjoy your senior year.” You sat beside him on the sand, leaning over to bump his shoulder with your own as your voice softened. “That’s what your mom wanted, for you to have a normal life. That’s all Uncle Pete wants too.”
You could tell by the wry chuckle he gave that he didn’t believe you, or your read on your uncle. “Maverick doesn’t give a shit about me,” he said, his deep voice quiet against the sound of the waves on the beach.
“That’s not true, Bradley,” you scolded, shifting to your knees and facing him, forcing eye contact by taking his hands in yours. “If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t say anything to you at all. He’d let you destroy yourself.”
He locked eyes with you, silently challenging your statement before finally releasing a sigh, shaking his head as he looked away. You reclaimed your position beside him and you both stared at the ocean in silence for a long time, until the last remnants of the day’s light dipped below the horizon. You shivered as the wind picked up, your bare arms and legs reminding you that you didn’t bring a sweater.
Bradley didn’t hesitate in taking his hoodie off and pulling it over your head before standing and dusting the sand from his jeans. He offered a hand to help you up and when you stood he couldn’t help but chuckle at how big the sweatshirt was on you. “Been a while since we’ve worn the same size I guess,” he teased, watching you push the sleeves up to expose your hands as you rolled your eyes, though there was a smile on your lips. “Wanna walk down the pier?”
“What time is it?” you asked, watching as he checked his wrist where he wore his dad’s old watch.
“Just after 7,” he replied, his biceps flexing as he stretched out after sitting for so long. He was a sight to behold, even wearing something as simple as jeans and a t-shirt.
A Varsity baseball player since his Freshman year, he had always been in good shape, and it was hard to not appreciate it. Even though he hadn’t played since last season he was still well toned, most of the time he was forced to be at home was spent in their garage working out. Girls were constantly all over him, and while he appreciated the attention he had been in a relationship up until his mom passed, when his change in behavior led to a breakup.
“Sure, we can walk down the pier,” you smiled up at him, unable to ignore the warmth that ran through you when he wrapped his arm around your shoulders and led you toward it.
He smelled like sandalwood and salt water, a scent that was familiar and made you feel safe. The two of you had practically been raised as siblings, and until recently you had never considered anything more than a friendship with Bradley. Puberty had changed that, at least for you, but his girlfriend and the chance that it could ruin your friendship forever had prevented you from making a move.
Even now, you didn’t say anything, knowing that there was a delicate balance within him. You didn’t want to push him over the ledge he was teetering on, but to pull him back onto solid ground if he would let you.
It was a relaxed walk down the beach, and by the time you reached the pier, there were only a few people left watching the ocean under the dim lights. You were both quiet as you made your way to the end of the pier, tucked into Bradley’s side by his arm that was still wrapped around your shoulder.
The sea breeze tousled your hair as you leaned against the pier’s railing, gazing out at the dark expanse that was the Atlantic Ocean. The sound of waves crashing against the pilings filled the silence between you as you stood shoulder to shoulder, each of you trying to find the right words.
Your name passed his lips first, and as he spoke his eyes remained on the ocean in front of you. “You’ve always been there for me, Dimples, even when I don’t deserve it, like these past few months. I’m sorry I haven’t told you how much I appreciate that.”
A smile formed at his words and you rested your head on his shoulder. “You don’t have to say it, Brad. We’re family, remember? That’s what family does.”
He remained still for a moment before shifting to face you slowly, giving you time to lift your head. Hazel eyes caught yours in a soft gaze before dropping to your lips briefly. He had been attracted to you for a couple of years, but thought you were off limits due to Maverick, who kept you both on a tight leash. But you understood he was still dealing with the losses of his best friend and his brother, all while trying to raise their children into functioning adults.
“You’re supposed to be looking at the water, not me,” you teased, feeling self conscious as his eyes roamed over you.
Bradley smiled, his large hand reaching for yours and lacing your fingers together. “You’re better to look at.”
You bit your lip and looked away, feeling the heat in your cheeks rising. Before you could say anything else, his fingers tipped your chin up and his lips were against yours in a tender kiss. His confident demeanor made an appearance when he wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you closer as the kiss continued, soft and slow.
When you finally parted, you couldn’t help but search his eyes, looking for any sign of regret. Instead he shook his head, seemingly reading your mind as he stroked your cheek with the hand that wasn’t resting on the small of your back. “I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time. You’re a good kisser.”
“It was my first time,” you admitted, slightly embarrassed. As the bookworm to Bradley's social butterfly, you were content to stay home, reading or watching a movie, rather than going out. As a result, you had never been on a date, let alone kissed someone.
“Then you’re a natural.” He leaned in and kissed you again, briefly. “Is this something you want?”
Your heart raced as you met Bradley's eyes, and you swallowed the lump in your throat. "Yes," you whispered, your voice filled with uncertainty and longing. "I want this, Brad, if you do."
He grinned, his eyes lighting up with happiness. "Of course I do, Dimples. We only have this moment once. The present moment.”
“The present moment,” you repeated, chuckling when he hummed in affirmation. “So what do you suggest we do to harness this present moment?”
He didn’t hesitate to kiss you again in response to your question, resting his forehead against yours. “I know Mav might give us shit, but I want to make this work."
You nodded and wrapped your arms around his neck, your heart full with emotion. "We'll figure it out together."

All We Need - Prologue
A/N: It has been a while since I have posted anything, I thought I would try my hand at a TopGun Maverick fic. As always any request or feedback is always welcomed x
Masterlist
Pairing: Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin x fem!pilot!Benjamin Reader (referred to as Athena’
Warnings: mentions of the mission from the movie, angst, fluff (nothing much in this part)
Prologue: this chapter outlines the character and the connections she has!
Part 1
Tumblr media
My name Y/N ‘Athena’ Benjamin. Being a pilot practically runs in the family, my grandfather was an Admiral, my dad also an Admiral his two best friends Admiral Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazinsky and Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell also known as Uncle Ice and Uncle Mav.
My dad served at TopGun with them in ‘86 and have been inseparable since, that is where they all lost their other best-friend Nick ‘Goose’ Bradshaw. Since then all three pilots took it under their wing to look after Gooses son Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw, 6 years my senior and the closest thing I have to an older brother despite only seeing him on summer holidays when our mothers took it upon themselves to have a summer trip, just Carole, my Mum, Aunt Penny, Bradley and me. Mum and Carole were best friends before and while Dad and Goose were at TopGun having met when their husbands were still doing basic training, after Goose, Carole moved to Virginia and Dad was posted to Texas. Two years later I was born and Texas became Dad permanent station even to this day.
Growing up I was lucky to have my best friend grow up next door to me, our parents were close and therefore we were inseparable, my best friend none other than the infamous Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin, we were inseparable all through our child and teen years, all through basic and flight school. The only time they separated us was three years into our Naval career, when i became the youngest pilot to go through TopGun having only been out of flight school a year and finished top of my class, Jake was called back a few years later also finishing the top of his class.
It has long been said that I was the best pilot the Navy had seen since Iceman, Maverick and my dad, which makes sense when they are the ones who taught me to fly.
So here I am now on the way to the house Jake and I share in San Diego, I had been recalled in the middle of a six month deployment, on the flight home i had been handed a folder with the list of the best pilots that had been recalled and simple instructions on the front stating I had been recalled as team leader for a dangerous mission and was in charge of training the best of the best with Maverick. The only issue is someone is unlikely to come home.

And how to come home...
Summary: You are having a miscarriage during the Uranium mission and you do your best to hide it from your fiancee, Rooster.
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x fem!reader,
Other relationships: father Pete "Maverick" Mitchell & daughter reader
W/C: 2.2k
Rating: PG
TWs: Miscarriage
A/N: Reader in this one is Maverick's daughter and they have a great relationship. He taught her how to fly when she was barely a teen, and didn't intervene in her carrier in the same way as he did with Rooster (that might or might have not been because of Iceman). He respects her and her skills enough to realize that she's a better fit for this mission than him, and even though it killed him to send his little girl on this type of mission, he did it because he had full trust in both her leadership and flying abilities.

It wasn't even a choice for you.
After all those years of listening to your father repeating "Don't think, just do." there was no consciousness in your actions, despite them being perfectly calculated to the millimeter. You knew there was no chance of you not being shot down from the sky, but you just had to save your fiancee, there was no other option.
That's why when you saw him being shot down after he just saved you, you wanted to strangle him yourself before his body even hit the ground, which (fortunately) didn't happen.
Somehow you've managed to bullshit your way back from the enemy territory and you were on your way back to base.
It was just then that you realized that something was wrong.
A sharp pain in your abdomen almost knocked you out, and Rooster just informed you that there were enemy planes on your tail. The situation was far from perfect, but you quickly glanced down to make sure, that you weren't wounded, but everything looked fine on the surface. Yet the pain didn't go away and you were sweating profusely.
And then it hit you what exactly was happening. You closed your eyes, steadied your hands, and took a deep breath. If it was hurting that badly, it already happened. Right now you had to get you both home.
- Y/N!?!?!?!?!?!? - Rooster's voice brought you down, and you quickly wiped your tears, pushing the pain as far deep inside as you possibly could.
- Masks on, we're pretending our comms are down. -  you've finally said when, and when the enemy's pilot tried to communicate with you, you just made a series of nonsense gestures that were supposed to mean that indeed, your comms were down. And when he tried to give you orders, you nodded as if you perfectly understood what he meant. It was pretty easy to figure out the formation when they started moving, so you fit neatly into the gap and steadied your stick.
- Hang on, it's gonna be a rough ride, love. - you've said quietly, and you just knew that Bradley knew something was wrong, but you were hoping he'll assume you're angry about him coming back for you, at least for now. Although if the roles were reversed, you knew you would have done the same... That's why you weren't screaming and berating him to the moon. You exhaled deeply to calm yourself even more. - 3, 2, 1... - and that was all you needed. You've swayed aggressively to the right, shooting at the first plane's engine, dropping it out of the sky, but you weren't able to get the second one as easily. He was a good pilot, you could tell... And you couldn't help but wonder if life wasn't different, maybe you two somehow could be friends, especially after you've witnessed that reverse cobra mixed with falling leaf maneuver, which was more than impressive.
But everything ended well... Well... that wasn't true, not for everyone. What mattered was that you got to the ship safely, even if you had to land in the net.
After the glass dome opened, you were greeted by the cacophony of cheers and laughter, but you didn't immediately get out of the plane. Right now you were sitting in the small pool of your own blood and you just needed a minute, which would have been next to impossible if you came out to the cheering crowd. You saw your dad embracing your fiancee in a bear hug and you knew he'd be looking for your face in the crowd as well, but you couldn't face him, not yet.
So you tried to get out on the other side, but you were spotted by Rooster almost immediately, and he run to you to embrace you, happy that you both lived.
- Don't! - you said loudly as soon as he touched you. You didn't mean to... For a second, you were just as confused as he was. - Just... not now. - you added much softer, quickly unzipping the top part of your suit and pulling it over your ass, so no one would notice that it was stained with blood.
You were definitely your father's daughter when it came to dealing with things alone, and there was a high chance that you'd surpassed him in that hyper-independence.
You saw that Rooster wanted to question your actions, but he didn't, only giving you a small nod, assuming you needed a moment to process what happened and cool off.
Getting to the claustrophobic showers didn't take you long, and as soon as you closed the door behind you, you started sobbing and hitting the cold metal with all your might, as if what happened was its fault when it was your own.
You only found out a couple of hours ago, just before the mission, when those two lines on the pregnancy test stared back at you with a strength you wouldn't expect from a few pieces of plastic and paper. You knew that if you told anyone, you'd most likely be pulled from the mission, which would put the rest of the squad in danger. Mav trusted you to bring them back home more than he was afraid about your safety, and that was saying something. So you've kept your mouth shut. You knew that there was a very small chance that the embryo would survive all the machs and G's you'd be taking, and it was a coldly calculated decision.
It shouldn't even matter... The embryo could not be older than 6-8 weeks and it was just a lump of cells. Logically you knew you shouldn't be reacting this way, but the hormones took hold of your body and you were standing there crying, sobbing, wailing, with both of your fists hurt and covered in blood.
And then something else snapped. You've never got out of your flying suit as fast as you did now, and after it, you threw your helmet against the wall and almost tore the rest of the clothes from your body... They were suffocating you and you needed to get out. But you couldn't. Not in this state.
You've finally run the water at the scorching hot temperature and got into the cabin, dividing yourself from your bloody clothes and the mess you've made with a thin shower curtain.
You honestly didn't feel how hot the water was, but your skin was getting redder and redder with every second, and you just... needed to feel something. So you've stayed under the boiling stream, with your head pressed against the metal wall, watching as your blood mixed with water and went down the drain, until it was clear again, which took a good few minutes.
It took some time, but you've finally calmed down enough to stop crying and you sat under the shower, allowing the water to burn your feelings away.
After what was almost an hour, but you didn't know that, because time got kinda wonky, Bradley came looking for you.
- Y/N...? Honey...? Are you...? - the rest of that sentence got stuck in his throat when he noticed your bloody clothes on the floor and the red streaks left by your fists on the white door. - Y/N!?!? - he instantly panicked and you couldn't blame him.
- I'm fine... - you've said quietly, not sure if he even heard you with the water still flowing from the showerhead on the highest setting. - I'm taking a shower... Please leave me alone... - you've added, your voice a bit more confident.
But he didn't leave... Instead, he moved the shower curtain, and when he saw you on the ground, he instantly got next to you with his clothes still on and pulled you under his arm. He knew you far too well to believe that you were indeed fine.
- What happened...? - he asked, pulling you closer. Your muscle memory acted faster than your brain could, and you melted into his body.
- Nothing... - the lie burned in your throat so harshly that you almost choked.
- The blood... - he dug deeper, intensely studying what was visible on your body. He didn't notice any major wounds besides your knuckles, but that didn't explain why the rest of your clothes were bloody.
You didn't want to say anything... You honestly didn't have the energy right now. You knew Bradley wanted kids more than anything, and that he would blame you for your stupid decision and you just wanted to postpone seeing that angry disappointed look he'll give you, so you shook your head for no. You didn't want the hug to end just yet, so you selfishly kept quiet.
- Y/N... Should I get a doctor...? - he asked, not sure what else to do. He honestly wanted to help, to calm you down, to get you out of that state you were in.
- No, don't go... - you whispered. You weren't ready to deal with that part yet. - I... - you've started, but continuing was much harder than you expected. - I had a miscarriage... - you finally blurted out and felt him tensing against your body...
- You are... You were...? - he didn't know what to say, different emotions bubbling under his skin.
- I found out about 20 minutes before the takeoff... I don't even know why I took that stupid test... - you honestly didn't know. Since you were only about 2-3 weeks late, and your period wasn't exactly regular, you just assumed it was because of stress. But then... This stupid second line appeared on that even more stupid test, and suddenly going on this specific mission became a choice. And there was just too much responsibility on your shoulders to bail. No chance that you would send them there with a different pilot, even as good as your father. You've all trained to work together well and that type of last-second change would have been disastrous. You were angry with yourself, but that didn't change the fact that it already happened and now you had to deal with the consequences.
On the one hand, you wanted to apologize to Rooster... To express how sorry you were that you basically chose to kill his child. But on the other... You just knew you've made the righ decision because his life and the lives of the rest of the team were more important.
He finally pulled you into his lap, fully embracing you in his arms, and hiding his face in the nook of your neck.
- I'm sorry... - he finally whispered. - I'm sorry I made you feel like you couldn't share that with me. That you had to go through it alone... - that statement shocked you... No, no, no... He didn't do anything wrong... But before you were able to protest, he asked. - When...? - he didn't have to finish the question; you knew what he wanted to know.
- It started when we were in the F-14, right before we got spotted by the enemy... - you finally mumbled under your breath,
- Ohmygod... - he exhaled so quietly that you weren't sure if he actually said something. - While we were still in the air... And yet you still brought us home safe, to our family... - he wasn't screaming, there was no anger or disappointment in his voice. He just held you in his arms and allowed you to mourn in your own way, and only gods knew how much you needed it. - You will still need to see a doctor... - he whispered and you were only able to nod in agreement. - But for now, I'm here for you... - he placed a soft kiss on the top of your head - You can break if that's what you need... We're going to get through this... We're just going to have to take turns, ok...? Sometimes I will be the strong one, and sometimes you... And right now, it's my turn, because you got us home in one piece. I've got you... - you were already past the point of breaking, so you didn't need to scream, cry, or wail... You just needed someone to take care of you, and right now you had the perfect man for the job.

Lesson Learned
Title: Lesson Learned
Pairing: Pete “Maverick” Mitchell x Teen Daughter
Warning’s: Fighting, unwanted touching, allusions to sexual assault (but no actual rape), hitting, language, fluffy ending
Summary: The reader gets herself into a bad situation with a boy and wishes that she would have listened to her dad.
Authors Note: This could be potentially triggering for people, though no actual rape happens I don’t want anyone being hurt by this fic so if you think you could be triggered please don’t read!!
Tumblr media
“He’s a good guy dad! Why can’t you see that?!” You exclaimed walking into the house with your dad Maverick hot on your tail.
“He is 27 years old Y/N, your only 17 that is completely unacceptable!” Maverick said trying to keep his cool as he watched his pissed off teenage daughter stomp into the kitchen and open the fridge, grabbing a Gatorade.
You had been dating this guy Skyler for about a month and yes he was 10 years older than you, but he was nice and seemed to really care about you. Obviously your dad wasn’t happy about you dating at all, much less someone 10 years older who he doesn’t get a good feel from.
“It’s not that big of a deal, I’m almost 18 anyway. I’m basically an adult.” You said crossing your arms and leaning against the kitchen counter
“But your not 18 yet and until you are it is my job as your father to keep you from making stupid choices! I don’t want you seeing Skyler anymore.” Maverick said sternly making Y/N roll her eyes. “Don’t you dare roll your eyes at me! I’m trying to keep you safe!”
“I don’t need you to keep me safe dad! I can take care of myself!” You exclaimed slamming your hand against the island ignoring the sting from the contact and stomping up the stairs ignoring your dads shouts after you.
“Y/N Y/M/N Mitchell! Get your ass back down here right now!” Maverick exclaimed from the bottom of the stairs
“No! Leave me alone!” You yelled slamming your door before leaning up against it with a sigh
Tears clouded your vision you hated fighting with your dad he was your best friend, but these past few months with him being called back to Top Gun, Iceman your godfather dying, and your dad and Bradley finally making up after 10 years it’s been hard. Life has been very chaotic meaning that you and Maverick have been drifting a little bit, he was gone a lot meaning you would either stay with Penny and Amelia or Rooster when he was home.
With your life being so back and forth right now Skyler was really the only constant you had, he said all the right things to make you feel wanted. When your dad threatened to take that all alway you felt awful, you didn’t want to loose Skyler.
You sighed and wiped your eyes before moving to sit down on your bed, your eyes catching a picture that sat on your nightstand. It was you, Maverick, and Bradley on your 5th birthday you were sitting on Bradley’s lap with a huge toothless grin on your face while Maverick stood behind you two and bent over to kiss your cheek and Bradley had a big smile on his face it was obvious he was in the middle of laughing.
That picture was one of the last times you three had all been together as your weird little family, Carole had died about a year earlier and Bradley was staying with you guys most of the time. It felt like you were one small family, it was almost normal.
A chime from your phone broke you out of your thoughts, you sat the picture you picked up back down on the nightstand before opening your phone to see a message from Skyler.
Want to go for a walk on the beach?
You nervously bit your lip, of course you wanted to go but your dad was already so mad about the way you acted earlier you knew he wouldn’t let you go.
I wish. Dad’s pissed and won’t let me go anywhere
It only took a few seconds for another message to come through your phone.
Just sneak out, he won’t know. I really want to see you, please for me?
You chuckled and shook your head, almost able to picture the puppy dog eyes Skyler would be giving you to get what he wanted. You’ve snuck out before but not when your dad was this mad at you, if you got caught you’d be screwed. But honestly in that moment you didn’t really give a fuck.
Give me 10 minutes. I’ll meet you down at the end of my road.
You immediately got out of bed and fixed your pillows to make it look like a body, then you turned on your fan so it would seem like you were really asleep since your dad knew you can’t sleep without it. After making sure it looked believable you changed into a pair of running shorts and a tank top not forgetting to grab a thin jacket since the breeze down on the beach can be cool then slid on a pair of flip flops. You turned the lights off and quietly snuck out your bedroom window.
Meanwhile, Maverick was sitting downstairs in the living room on the couch with a beer in his hand and his head leaning back against the back of the couch. He didn’t mean to loose his temper with you but he couldn’t understand why you would want to be with someone so much older than you, that wasn’t like you at all normally you would go for guys your own age or not at all. You have always been a homebody, stuck to his hip but just these past few months you’ve been starting to pull away from him and it drives him crazy.
He decided he would give you a few more minutes to calm down before trying to have a civil conversation again, but he underestimated his tiredness and after only 5 minutes fell asleep.

You and Skyler were walking hand in hand on the beach the wet sand was sticking to your feet but you didn’t care. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the tree frogs chirping was so soothing you almost didn’t realize when Skyler pulled you guys to a stop.
“What’s up?” You asked giving him a confused smile
“I want to talk to you about something.” Skyler said and you nodded not having any idea what he could be talking about. “I think we should have sex.”
You felt like you had been slapped in the face as you stared confused at your boyfriend, you had literally been together for a month why would he be talking about sex already?
“What? We’ve only been dating for a month. Why would we have sex?” You asked dropping his hand, suddenly feeling uncomfortable as you hugged your jacket tighter to your body
“Because that’s what adults do when your in a relationship. You have sex, that’s how it’s suppose to go.” Skyler said rolling his eyes
“I don’t want to have sex with you Skyler. At least not now or anytime soon, we’re still getting to know each other.” You said taking a small step back when you noticed a frustrated look coming across his face
“Y/N when you are in a relationship it’s your job to do what I tell you to do. If I want to have sex then we’re going to have sex whether you want to or not. That’s just the way it is.” Skyler said grabbing your arm harshly
“Let go of me! Skyler let go!” You said trying to rip your arm out of his tight grip
“You owe this to me Y/N. Now be a good girl and do as I say and this will be good for you. Keep struggling and this won’t be so pleasant.” Skyler said ripping your jacket off of your body as you flailed in his arms trying to get away
“Let go! Leave me alone!” You exclaimed wiggling in his grip, his hand reached up and grabbed your throat before slamming you onto the sand knocking the wind out of you. You felt dizzy from the impact before feeling Skylers hands making their way up your tank top. “Get off me! Skyler get off!”
“Shut up!” Skyler yelled slapping your face hard making you scream as you struggled harder, Skyler had you pinned down as his hands ripped the bottom of your tank top before moving to pry your legs open with such a tight grip that you were sure there was going to be some bruises.
It was like someone gave you the strength to fight back, you felt this calming presence come over you making you feel like everything would be ok. That snapped you out of your panic and you immediately brought your hand up and jammed your finger into his eye making him yell and fall off of you. You immediately rushed to get to your feet before taking off in a sprint in the opposite direction. You didn’t know where you were but knew that you had to keep running.
“You little bitch!” You heard Skyler yell, but didn’t dare turn back
Your chest ached and your legs burned but you didn’t stop, not until you saw the familiar bar the Hard Deck. You could have cried in relief as you ran in that direction.
You burst through the doors of the bar, there we’re still plenty of people roaming around but you were looking for any familiar face you could find. You didn’t realize you were crying until you felt wetness on your cheeks.
“Y/N?” A voice asked from behind you, you turned around and saw that it belonged to Penny. “Honey what happened?”
You just shook your head and rushed into her open arms with a sob feeling her gently wrap her arms around you and rub up and down your back soothingly.
“Your ok. What happened?” Penny asked
“I want my dad.” Is all you said shaking with sobs
“Ok, I’ll call him. Come on let’s go somewhere quiet.” Penny said leading you towards one of the back rooms of the bar spotting the freshly formed bruises on your neck, arms, and thighs making her shake her head. “Stay right here I’ll be right back.”
Penny sat you down on a chair and wrapped a blanket around your shoulders before walking out into the bar and spotting Rooster.
“Rooster.” Penny said walking up to where he was standing at the bar about to order
“Hey Pen.” Rooster smiled politely
“Something happened to Y/N.” Penny said cutting to the chase making Bradley’s eyes widen
“What? What do you mean something happened to Y/N?” Bradley asked confused
“She ran in her a few minutes ago in nothing but a ripped tank top and shorts. She has bruises and was crying. She kept on asking for Mav.” Penny said making Rooster clench his jaw
“Where is she?” Rooster asked
“In the back room, here take her this water and sit with her until I can get Mav on the phone.” Penny said and Rooster immediately nodded making his way into the back room spotting you sitting curled up in the chair
“Hey you.” Rooster said gently trying not to scare you making your head pop up before relaxing when you saw it was just Bradley
“Brad.” You said with a tremble in your voice making him frown before quickly making his way over to you
“Can I hug you?” Bradley asked and you immediately nodded relaxing into Bradley’s warm hold. “What happened?”
“It was Skyler.” You said leaning against his chest making Bradley clench his jaw. He felt the same as Maverick did about Skyler they thought it was fishing that a 27 year old man chose to be with a 17 year old girl.
“What did he do?” Bradley asked, already assuming what happened but before he hunted Skyler down and killed him he needed confirmation
“He wanted me to do stuff and I said I didn’t want to then he got mad and hurt me. But I got away, I remembered what you and dad taught me about those self defense classes. How you go for the eyes.” You said and Bradley nodded proud that you remembered what they taught you during that moment
“I’m so sorry that happened baby. Buy you did so good, you got away and your safe now. Me or Mav would never let anyone hurt you, they’d have to go through the whole Navy to lay a finger on you.” And Penny of course.” Bradley said with a chuckle knowing how scary Penny Benjamin can be when you get on her bad side
“I know.” You nodded feeling your adrenaline start to slow down wincing as your injuries became more prominent
“You ok?” Rooster asked concerned
“Yeah, my head and back just hurt. He slammed me onto the ground.” You said moving in your seat to try to get comfortable
“I’ll get you some ibuprofen. You ok if I walk outside for a second?” Rooster asked and you nodded giving your ‘big brother’ a small smile. “Be right back.”

About five minutes later your dad came busting into the room where you were sitting out of breath with a worried look across his face.
“Oh sweetheart. Are you ok?” Maverick asked immediately rushing over to you and pulling you into his arms making the tears come rushing back
“I’m sorry dad! I should have listened to you, you were right about Skyler he was a jerk and he hurt me. I should have listened I’m sorry.” You said shaking in your fathers arms making him frown and lift you into his arms letting you hug him like a koala bear.
“I don’t care about any of that right now. All that matters is that you are safe and your ok. When Penny called me I thought the worst and ran all the way here. The thought of something happening to you scared the hell out of me. I love you so much.” Maverick told you kissing your hairline
“I love you too dad.” You sighed in content, knowing that no matter what or how angry you made him your dad would always have your back.

Loophole
A/N: Prompt off this. Before I am yelled at, I was given permission by the creator HERE. I am super stoked to write this! Credit to @callsignaries for blessing us all with this idea!
Pairing(s): Hangman x Rooster x Bob x f! reader,  IceMav x daughter! reader
Summary: There was always one rule when you grew up, it was the only one you were asked to never break. After all, your fathers knew this type the best, they were there with these guys all the time. So, you never broke it... You just found a loophole.
Key: Y/F/N- your full first name. (If you don’t have something like me, like Gabriella but I just go by Gabbie (not a nickname like Gabs and stuff) then just ignore that and see it as a strict tone)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You stood on the porch of the Mitchell-Kazansky house, your three boyfriends behind you. “You three ready for this?” you asked one last time, turning to look at them. Each of them gave you a reassuring smile, “Yes Y/n, we’re sure. Don’t worry so much,” Bradley told you. You took one final deep breath before ringing the door bell.
Pete came to the door and smiled at you before looking behind you, the smile became slightly strained. “These are your boyfriends Y/F/F/N?” he asked, using the same tone of voice he always used when you would get in trouble as a child. You held back a cringe, “Yes sir,” you said, unintentionally reverting back to your military training. “Come on in you four. TOM!” Pete yelled for your father as he held the door open. Robert touched your hand gently as you four entered the house, Jake doing the same. Those two touches were the silent communication of ‘It will be okay’, ‘We’re here for you’, and ‘Relax’ all at once.
You went into the living room and as soon as your father walked in, he looked at Pete and then your boyfriends. “Y/F/F/N, what was the one rule we had for dating? The only thing we asked of you even after you insisted on becoming a Naval Aviator, honey?” Tom asked you. “Not to date a pilot?” You responded innocently. Pete ran a hand over his face, “EXACTLY! And you go on to date pilots despite that rule!” he said, looking slightly annoyed. He trusted Bradley, Jake, and Robert with you but it was the point of the rule that you broke. “Not one, not two, but three! Sweetheart, really?” Pete asked, you could practically see more grey hair coming in on your dad from the stress you have been causing him lately. Then again, he was getting premature grey years ago and so was Tom because of the type of child you were, you always found trouble and found loopholes for everything. Just like Pete.
“Well...” You started off, a grin forming on your face as you took on the most innocent look that you possibly could. Tom and Pete shared a look as they sighed, you were about to pull a loophole on them. “Your rule states A pilot, meaning singular right? I brought home two, not three pops. Bob is a WSO, you should know that Captain,” you teased and ducked the throw pillow that Pete tossed at your head. “I have not broken a single rule you set in place... well, that you didn’t find out. Teen years no longer count!” you teased.
Tom turned and glared at Pete, “This is your doing! I raised a respectable, non cheeky girl and then you sunk your hooks in. She is a trouble maker who always gets out of trouble some how,” he sighed. Tom then turned to the three men who sat there quietly, letting you fight your battle which Tom respected, they knew his baby could handle herself. “I don’t care how long I’ve known you Bradshaw, you three hurt a single hair on her head and she sheds one tear of heartbreak to us, you will find yourself in the worst station possible. I will make you miserable and you will regret ever being born. Am I clear?” He asked. All three nodded, chorusing “Yes sir!” and got a nod.
“Well, that went well” you grinned and just heard Pete groan, “Why did I have to have a mini me?” he asked Tom. “Retribution for all the pain you put the Navy through” Tom answered. You smiled at your boyfriends, looking a lot happier then before.

Tumblr media
pete mitchell x reader (she/mom) used
1797 words
reader's called back at top gun to save maverick and rooster's lives. major top gun spoilers, not accurate story, i hope not ooc mav. not proof read so a lot of grammatical errors (english is not my first language)
should i write for phoenix next?
Tumblr media
The sound of your feet thumping against the treadmill, as Doja Cat’s music is blasted in the background. “Best friend” starts and you fasten your pace. You hated running. Really. But, after quitting the navy: you didn’t move as much as before, and your body was getting weaker. So running and musculation is it. You didn’t really mind the physical changes, but to be able to teach at Top Gun, you needed to be in shape. You were still kind of in the navy; but not on the field. And it was sort of boring. Maybe that’s why you were always running. To escape boredom. After almost 25 years of service, you had to quit, not because of your admirals, even if they were really for your retirement, but because during your last year of service, you got shot, and hit your leg badly. Don’t get this wrong, your leg is perfectly fine, and if you wanted, you could have continued flying. However; you didn’t feel like it. You felt like your accident was a sign; that you weren’t worthy anymore of your mates’s trust. So you quit, with honors as Commander (Y/N) “Rocky” (Y/L/N). Let’s say your little girl was pleased to have you home more often, and was even more pleased with your house in Fightertown.
Tumblr media
Speaking of, she busted into the room. “Mooom!” “Yes, Judith.” You didn’t turn your head, just kept running. “There’s two grumpy dudes outside our house, they want to see Commander (Y/L/N), which is you.” Sighing, you stepped out of the treadmill and turned off the music. Quickly drinking some water, you followed your daughter. You frown when you see nobody inside, and frown even more when you open the door to see Cyclone and Warlock. “Judith, why did you close the door on our visitor?” “Was I supposed to let them inside? I don’t know them!” Your teen throws her arms in the air, and you shoo her away with your head.
“Cyclone, Warlock, what can I do for you?” The two vice-admirals share a look, before Cyclone opens his mouth with his brows furrowed. “Commander, I know you’re retired. But, we need the fastest pilot alive for this.” You shake your head, arms folded on your chest. “No, I’m retired for a reason. I’m an instructor now. At your school, Cyclone.” This time, Warlock steps in. “Rocky, this is serious, we need you to save 2 pilot’s lives. They’re stuck in enemy territory.” You lean on the door edge, sighing even more. “Call Maverick, sounds like a mission he would like.” “Rocky, Maverick’s the one stuck in enemy territory.”
Fuck it.
Tumblr media
“Alright, here’s the brief. This is going to be hard. Our pilots went by the hard way,” Cyclone hands’ trace around the map. “But you’re taking the long and easier way.” A blonde man speaks up. “Just send me. I’ve done the training, this will be easier than sending her.” You furiously turn your head, before taking your Commander voice. “It’s Commander (Y/L/N). Not her. I understand your concern but I’m still your fucking superior…Hangman.” You read quickly on his helmet before turning back to Cyclone. “I can do it, but I’m going by the easier way.” Hangman turns his head, before nearly yelling at you. “We don’t have the time for you to take the easy way, Commander!”
“Quiet!” Cyclone looks at you, mouth still open, as he was ready to yell. You grab the top of Hangman’s flightsuit, forcing his forehead to yours, obligatory pulling him down. “If you want me to bring your mates home, you let me do what I want, how I want, like I want. So, you stay quiet, and still, like a good boy before I punch you. Let me tell you, they don’t call me Rocky for nothing.”
You explain your plan to Cyclone and Warlock, and the latter looks at you with a smirk. “What?” “Nothing, it’s just good to see Rocky in action again.”
Tumblr media
The flight was stressful. Nothing happened but you were getting anxious to go into enemy territory. Suddenly, your F-18 was shaken by an F-14 and two 5th generation aircrafts. “Rooster! Who’s that plane?” “Maverick, Rooster, this is Commander Rocky. I’m here to save you. Well, I was supposed to, but you seem to be doing well” You turn your F-18 to follow the other aircrafts, speeding up to match the dogfight speed.
Quickly, you end up doing loops in the sky to not get shot, again, and desperately trying to take down those 5th gen planes. Let’s say, Maverick and Rooster in this old F-14 were not really helping. Even if they did take down some missiles that were going to take you down. You end up taking one down with a shot you could not have dreamed off. The other one ends up retreats, after hitting Maverick’s plane left wing and yours too.
When the 3 of you make it to the base, you're surrounded by the other pilots, all cheering for you. You quickly escape the festivities, not by choice, because who doesn’t love getting acclaimed like they’re god, but because your leg is fucking bleeding. Seems like something stabbed you in your plane. Another Top Gun instructor, who’s here to celebrate your victory, sees the red on your flightsuit, and grabs your arm to bring you to the medical bay as fast as he could. “For someone who quit because they felt like the field wasn’t for them anymore, you’re quite awesome.”
Tumblr media
When you wake up, you’re in a medical gown, and your teen’s sleeping in the chair next to your bed. “Judith, Judith! Judith!” When she wakes up, she rushes to hug you, throwing herself on you. “Mom! I was so worried! I promise I didn’t call grandpa or grandma!” You chuckle, hugging her close to your heart as she gets comfy on your bed. You look down to answer, but she’s already dozing off. So you just extend your arm to grab the plaid next to you, and cover her. “Mom’s here, don’t worry, sleep well baby.” You were about to fall asleep too, but the nurse came in with a soft knock. “I’m here to check your leg, but with…” she gestures to Judith sleeping next to you. “I’ll do it later, no big deal. But some guy is here to see you. And I say that in the most professional way possible, he’s super sexy. Should I let him in?” You nod, a hand coming to pat your leg to check for any irregularities, but everything feels normal.
“I’ve heard I could come in…” He stops when he sees the sleeping figure on your chest before coming in and whispering. “Can I sit?” “Yes, of course, Pete.” Maverick chuckles and sits in the chair quickly, only after dragging it closer to the bed. He tries to glance at your wound, but he can only look at the cover. “It’s fine. Don’t worry. Dying after saving your ass would be a little too much, right.” The brunette looks at your free hand, and back at you. “Yes, you can hold my hand, Pete.” He grabs it, holding it like you were some glass doll. “First name uh?” “Well, when we first met, you introduced yourself as Pete, not as Maverick. By the way, how’s Rooster?” “Shaken up, but he’s fine, you really had our backs, up there.” You laugh, looking at your intertwined fingers. “Stop worrying, I’m fine, since I’m the best pilot around, even retired, okay? Or else they wouldn’t have called me.” He lets go of your hand to take off the bandage around his hand. “I don’t know why they wrapped me up, I’m fine. How’s your kid doing?” “Exactly like Rooster, shaken up but fine, she’s sleeping like a baby.” Maverick stands up to sit on the border of your bed, and strokes Judith’s hair for a short moment. When the brunette sees you yawn, he stands up, and gets out of the room. “Alright, get some rest, (Y/N).”
Tumblr media
Two weeks later, your leg is doing just fine, and you’re about to start teaching again, since your sick leave is almost over. But from what you heard, the other pilots, the one who were on that mission, are still on base because the government wants to do something with them, you don’t know what though, and don’t really care. After a quick text from Maverick, you found yourself walking to the Hard Deck. When you enter, the smell of alcohol and sweats overwhelm you. You brush it off, especially since Penny yells your name. “Commander (Y/N)!” She rolls the last part of your head, and the whole Hard Deck whip their heads to look at you. “Are you limping? You’re good?” “Yeah, Pen, don’t worry, just give me some strong drink. The limping will stop soon.”
Hearing the laugh of your favorite brunette, after Judith, who sadly took after her dad, you start walking toward the group of younger aviators (bedside Maverick). Hangman’s smile fades when he sees you, and you smile awkwardly. “Listen…Seresin…”You read again, this time on the tag on his uniform, “I’m sorry for last time.” Seresin smiles and offers you a hand. “It’s fine, Commander, since it was really sexy.” Popping out of nowhere, Maverick smacks the back of the blonde’s head. “That’s not something you should say to a woman Hangman.” Wincing as you try to walk toward the pool, you smirk at Maverick. “Don’t go around and lecture him when you said worse.” Floyd, with the cutest smiles ever, offers you his seat when he sees you limping and wincing. “Thank you, Floyd.”
Maverick comes and sits next to you, as he puts his hand on yours. “Limping uh?” “Yes, saving lives has a price.” Rooster’s the next to come to you as he shakes your hand with admiration. “Commander, I haven’t got the chance to thank you.” “Just buy me one beer and you’ll be good, kid.” Once Rooster came back with your beer, Maverick took you outside, saying he had something to tell you, without forgetting to put his arm around your waist for “support”.  Ever the gentleman, he helps you sit down, and plops next to you. “So..I will not take the long way around…I would like to kiss you.” He doesn’t have to tell you twice before you grab his jaw to kiss him softly. Maverick shifts so he’s able to hold your waist, before you pull back for air. “So, Pete, do you thank everyone that saves your life like that?” He laughs as he puts his forehead against yours to give you a quick peck. “No, only you, darlin’.”

All Too Well
Pairing: Hangman x Reader, Rooster x Reader
Author’s Note: Song fic based off the ten-minute version
Warning: Slight angst, heartbreak, fluff, curious Bob and Phoenix, Taylor Swift, civilian reader
Masterlist
_________________________________________
You stand beside your fiance. Tall, strong, dreamy. He broke through your hurt and changed his roguish ways to capture your heart. Now here you are, two years later, celebrating your engagement at the very bar you met.  You are wearing a navy blue sundress, your fiance in a matching button-up and khakis.
Lieutenant Jake 'Hangman' Seresin met you when you were 22, still frequenting the bar you used to frequent with your ex. He took one look at the heartbroken girl and was determined to make her his at any cost but putting a smile on your face was his first task. Now you are 25 and he is 30, neither of you could be happier. Celebrating your engagement with your closest friends and family, it was a night you would tell your grandkids about. That was until the one person you both didn't want to invite walked in. Jake knew who your ex was. He saw how bad he hurt you. It drove Jake's rivalry and motivated him to be better. He subtly blocked your view of him, wanting your night to stay perfect.
Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw wasn't sure why he showed up at Hangman's engagement party after being secondhand invited by Phoenix. He didn't even like the guy. Sure, they made up after the mission, but they weren't close enough for this. Perhaps it was out of curiosity, he wanted to see the poor woman who was willing to deal with Seresin for the rest of her life, and the woman who changed the resident playboy into a responsible adult. He wasn't prepared to see your face, however, looking happier than he could remember you ever being. It is a punch in the gut that made him want to leave before the other pilots noticed, or you noticed. But you did. You saw him walk through the door, launching you into a cruel memory from five years ago.
You were a carefree 20-year-old, dating the older guy who your world now revolved around. Bradley was driving you to his sister's house. The leaves were starting to change and fall, sweaters were acceptable again, and your favorite red scarf was wrapped around your neck for comfort. Bradley had told you all about Hailey Mitchell, the girl he grew up with and considered to be his sister. Carole and Pete would be there and she was nervous. His hand was on your thigh as they drove up the west coast to Northern California, singing along to the radio as you always had. He was so sweet to you and he loved your wide-eyed innocence.
The cool air nipped at your cheeks as he lead you through the door. The scarf left on a coat hanger that you forgot about as you left for the evening. Bradley has it tucked away in a drawer somewhere, a reminder of his first love, the one he drove away.
Bradley looks on as he sees you and Hangman laugh at one of Coyote's comments. Hangman whispering in your ear, your beautiful blush. That was the blush that always almost made him run red lights. Rooster almost forgets how angry he was when you turned your failed romance into a best seller, one that certainly helped you with your career as a high school English teacher. He looks at the pictures on the bar that Penny helped set up. He observes them as you did looking at his childhood photos. Lightly teasing his old glasses and asking Carole what baseball position he played. He was so in love, he thought you were his forever, so he - of course - had to mess it up.
You and Jake took way too long pulling out old pictures to display. Laughing as old baseball and softball team photos. You showed him old prom photos, he laughed at your dorky teen years with braces, then pulled out the same ones of himself. You would've loved dorky Jake the same as you love him now because you adore the dorky side of him that remains. The centerpiece photo was your favorite. You were called to another teachers room in the middle of class one day and when you got back Jake was on one knee. The students cheered as you said yes and both of you spent the next few days going through videos and pictures taken by your students.
Bradley feels the car keys that weigh heavily in his pocket, the same ones he would toss to you when going on a weekend adventure. When he knew he loved you but was too scared to tell you, even when he saw you slipping away. Not until three months after he truly broke your heart and told you in an effort to relight the flame. You tried to ease the finality of it, pushing down the shame and letting him hug your lifeless body, no longer feeling the sparks. There was nothing you could do, you had forgotten why you even needed to forget him until he showed up at the door.
Rooster didn't notice Maverick and Penny offering a toast before Jake pulled you onto the dance floor. Everyone laughed and cheered as you and Jake danced to a song on the jukebox. All Rooster cared about was downing a drink before he remembered those late nights in the kitchen. Truthfully, no one knew why you and Jake hadn't greeted Rooster yet, or why he hadn't tried to annoy Hangman yet. No one here but the happy couple, Rooster, Maverick, and Penny.  A couple of written letters, framed and displayed with pictures told the story in pieces. A love lost in translation, ruined by the guy she entrusted her heart to. The same heart she was trusting Jake with. His written promises to safeguard it as he was counting down the days to his return.
Bob and Phoenix loved the touch the personal letters added to the bar full of picture frames. They were reading them together, learning more about the relationship in celebration. They were intrigued as to who the couple seemed to hate so much until one sentence revealed all, but the few showed a story. 'Bradley called last night, drunk off his ass, begging me to take him back. Unfortunately for him, one Jake Seresin has swept me off my feet, doing everything he never did.' Hell, they both read your book, but they never imagined that it was based off of your relationship with Rooster. Granted, they didn’t know that you and Rooster knew each other let alone dated.
If the couple was being honest with each other, Bradley showing up was like hell. Sure, all's well that ends well, but he left a small stain on their evening. Jake had seen Bradley taking home girls your age and younger, but he never told you. Your age having been part of the reason Rooster broke your heart, and one reason it took longer for him to break down your walls.
"You have a lot of nerve showing up here. If I remember correctly, you don't like showing up to parties celebrating my life events, Rooster," you hiss, sneaking up to the unsuspecting flyboy, the sting you felt the night of your twenty-first reappearing. The tears, some amateur actress telling you that you deserved better, the tiredness of being a trophy girlfriend who wasn't even allowed to publicly be a girlfriend. Her parent's disappointment with the young pilot who charmed them then didn't show.
"Y/n-" Rooster starts, but you cut him off. Jake rests a comforting-yet-reassuring hand on your shoulder, hardening his glare at his fellow pilot. Rooster knows it's a good thing that your father isn't here.
"No. Leave," you harden, pointing to the door. Rooster nods, walking through the door, out into the cool air from a sea breeze. You washed your hands of him when he mailed back your things and you got used to walking home alone. You were there in his mind as he walked down the stairs, the wind in his hair, the final burn of rare first true love. Memories flashing through his mind like a movie of all the good times skipping over the bad scenes, a part of him wishing it was him and not Jake in there, standing madly in love next to you. His ring on your finger. The one true love he's known. He goes home and digs out the old scarf, the one that reminds him of that fall and still smells of your perfume. Scarf wrapped around the pillow beside him, he drowns in the memories as they seep into his dreams, practically turning them into nightmares.
"I'm sorry, kid. If I had known he would show, I'd have made him leave," Maverick hugs the girl.
"Thanks, Mav, I just need a minute," you say, stepping onto the porch as Jake distracts everyone. The cold air stings your skin as you pull out your phone. You pull up a picture of you and Bradley in the first snowfall of the year when you were in Brooklyn, snowflakes melting on your hair, the cold breeze turning your cheeks a soft shade of pink. It was the only picture of the relationship you still had. You keep it because you remember it all too well. A constant reminder of the journey that was hell that to brought you heaven.
"Did the love affair maim you too?" You whisper to yourself, looking closely at the picture illuminating your screen. The smiling faces and arms wrapped around each other, the glistening snow. The breeze pushes the hair out of your face as you pull your shoulders back with resolve, finally pressing the delete button. Pocketing your phone, you look at Jake charming the crowd into letting you have your peace. With a smile brighter than the one on the picture, you reenter the bar, letting the memories fade away like the end of a song.
"I love you," Jake says, not hiding it in a whisper or in a thought in the back of his mind because it's the truth.
"I love you too," you smile, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips.

Kung Fu Panda trilogy (2008, dir: Mark Osborne, John Stevenson; 2011, dir: Jennifer Yuh Nelson; 2016, dir: Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Alessandro Carloni) [Rewatched the first two after a decade and watched the third for the first time] Listen, I don't know what happened to me or to the world that made me uninterested in these movies somewhere between the second and the third one, but I'm glad that went away because these are actually really good. Like, the animation, the aesthetic, the story: they're all great and enjoyable, and a lot of fun! -
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018, dir: Ol Parker) [Rewatch after five years] The songs are still bangers and a lot of fun, even though this is way more sad than the first one. Wacthing it with friends is even better! -
13 Going on 30 (2004, dir: Gary Winick) [Rewacth after seven years] Still a cute and fun rom-com. The time-travel and the moral consequences of a 13 year-old in her own older body are never even thought about, but that's probably for the best, because I genuinely enjoyed it as a kid, even though I didn't want to grow up. -
Sky High (2005, dir: Mike Mitchell) [Rewatch after more than a decade] Just okay, I remember liking this a lot as a teen, but never seeing it again. Loved the whole character of Warren Peace, his name and his backstory and to be honest I wish the whole thing would have been about him. But still not that bad! -
So I Married an Anti-Fan (2016, dir: Kim Je-young) [First time watch] No idea how I found this, but it was pretty fun. I haven't really written anything on my notebook about it other than "not that bad", and all the letterboxd reviews are about this k-pop idol whom I don't know, I'm so sorry.
Favourite series in may:
Spy x Family (Japan, 2022) [First time watch; anime] A spy needs to infiltrate the family of an important political figure to stop the war between the two prominent regions of his nation, but to do so, he needs to have a wife and a daughter. He finds them in a secret assassin and a mind reader respectively. This anime is so much fun!! It's hilarious and even heartwarming at times. I decided to read the manga as well because I fell in love with the characters so fast. -
Ted Lasso - season 3 (USA, 2023) [First time watch] This series has been a very nice comfort show since I started season 1 last year. I loved how everyone had a character development and I very much enjoyed the positivity and feeling of hope throughout the series and especially in the end. -
Schmigadoon! - Schmicago (USA, 2023) [First time watch] This musical series is still one of the most innovative around and I LOVE the songs and the references to the musicals it parodies. I think I might have enjoyed this second season more than the first because I like more musicals from this era than the ones referenced in season 1. I still wish they will eventually make a thrid season, because if they manage to make parodies of all musical eras, they will have my whole heart, although this had a perfect ending, so I am conflicted on this. -
Dark Blue Kiss (Thailand, 2019) [Rewatch after a year] This was the first Thai series I've ever watched, but I had overrated it, so I decided to revisit it with a better knowledge and some more place for comparison. It turns out that it's still pretty good! Pete and Kao's story and its stupid jealousy, their cute bickering, and Kao's will to come out to him mum but fear of rejection is still very well done. Their breakup phase is still so sad! New's little pouty face should be enough to make people forgive him, especially when Kao didn't do anything outwardly terrible. The communication problem in this couple is still annoying, but the last scene makes up for everything and they have my heart. I'm not the greatest fan of the second couple - when a lot of fans would say the opposite - but I still love fellow Pokémon Go fan Mork and I still think he deserves better, I'm not sorry. -
Quacks (UK, 2017) [First time watch] As usual, six-episodes-long British sitcoms that are about specific time periods were cancelled after one season, and so was this gem. This series was about several doctors working at a Victorian hospital and trying new ways to cure patients. It was very interesting other than pretty funny.

Since you didn’t grow up with a maternal figure in your life, Carole had made it her goal to be the figure you were missing, however, she often made sure to educate your father, Maverick in the process to make sure he was ready for anything that fatherhood could throw his way.
One of those things being periods.
Carole had sat Maverick down and given him an intense talking to about the importance of making sure you were aware of what a period was and what it meant before you started to have them. She made sure Maverick knew what products to buy and what to expect with your behaviour. By the time Carole’s intensive bootcamp had ended, Maverick was sure that was harder than any training he had done at Top Gun, yet he felt very prepared for what was to come around the time you turned thirteen.
When you reached your teens, you had been thoroughly prepared by your dad for what was to come when you hit puberty. However, your period, while you had been somewhat awaiting its arrival, struck before you could’ve ever been ready. You woke up one morning and were immediately hit by a strong stomach cramp. You suddenly shot out of bed and darted into the bathroom sighing heavily when you saw the patch of blood on your pyjama bottoms. You cleaned yourself up, grabbing the pads and spare underwear you had squirrelled away in your drawer just for an occasion like this and rushing back into your room to get changed into something clean and checking your bed sheets, relieved to see that they didn’t fall victim to your period. Not feeling motivated to put anything more on than a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt with a hoodie, you grab your pyjamas and take them downstairs, putting stain remover on the blood stain and chucking them in the washing machine before starting the wash. You decide that while you’re downstairs you’ll make yourself some breakfast, you pour yourself a bowl of cereal and sit at the kitchen table to eat your food. When you finish you put your empty bowl and spoon into the dishwasher and head into the living room, intending to relax and watch some tv but as you sit down, a wave of cramps overcomes you, forcing you to curl into a ball and squeeze your eyes shut in an attempt to rid yourself of the pain.
By the time Maverick had finally gotten out of bed and made his way downstairs you had resigned yourself to the fate of never being able to leave the sofa, the pain being too much. When Maverick stumbled across you curled up on the sofa, he immediately assumed the worst and was rushing over to your side in seconds.
“y/n, what’s wrong sweetheart?” He asks worriedly, kneeling down and looking you over for any signs of illness or injury.
“Period.” You mumble grumpily into the cushion, the word barely understandable but Maverick managed to hear it clear enough and his eyes soon widened.
“Are you okay?” Maverick asks, regretting his words when you lifted your face enough of the cushion to glare at him.
“Oh yeah dad, I’m doing great! I love feeling like I’m being repeatedly stabbed in my stomach.” The sarcasm was practically rolling off of you in waves and Maverick found himself almost cowering under your gaze.
“Got it, not asking that question ever again.” Maverick mumbles, glancing down at the floor briefly before looking back up at you.
“Is there anything I could do to help?” Maverick then tries asking, watching carefully for your response. He could see you itching to fire another snarky comment his way. He knew he was doing exactly what Carole had predicted. He was panicking, and because of that, he was asking all the wrong questions. He waited with bated breath for the inevitable sassy comment to leave your mouth, but it never came. Instead, you relaxed back against the cushions.
“Could you get me some pain meds? I didn’t think to take any.” You ask, wincing as another cramp shoots through you, your arm winding around your stomach as you curled in on yourself to try and reduce the pain.
“Yes, of course, sweetheart.” Maverick was nodding frantically as he scrambled to his feet and rushed off in search of something to alleviate your pain. He dug through the medicine cabinet until he found the ibuprofen, then rushed to the kitchen to fill a glass with water before bringing the water and medicine to you.
“Here, sit up so you can take it.” Maverick says gently as he helps you sit up so you can take the medicine. Maverick watches as you take the pills quickly, setting the glass down on the coffee table once you’re done with it. Maverick then goes to move to grab the glass and take it back into the kitchen, but you stop him with a hand on his wrist.
“No, stay please.” You request, your mood doing a whole one-eighty from the sass Maverick had briefly been on the receiving end of. Maverick knew he couldn’t deny you anything you wanted, especially when you weren’t feeling a hundred percent because of your first period. Without speaking, Maverick sat back down alongside you, letting you curl into his side, and wrapping an arm around you as you settled your head on his chest, just above his heart.
“Do you want the tv on?” Maverick asks softly, glancing at the tv remote sitting on the arm of the chair alongside him.
“Only if there’s something good on.” You mumble, adjusting yourself slightly to get in a more comfortable position as another cramp attacks you. Maverick turns on the tv, flicking through the channels until he finds a movie that is good enough to have on.
“Sorry for being a little moody with you.” You say after a few minutes of silence, your gaze remaining fixed on the tv as you speak.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. Carole warned me about this. It’s like she knew I’d panic and say all the wrong things.” Maverick says with a soft chuckle, hearing you laugh lightly as well.
“Carole does know everything.” You say, smiling as you imagine Carole giving your dad an intense pep talk about everything.
“But you didn’t say anything wrong. My stomach just hurts so bad, and my mood just feels all over the place.” You continue, curling further into your dad’s side as he runs a hand up and down your back.
“Carole prepared me for that. It’s okay. I’ll look after you as best I can. And if I’m ever overstepping or irritating you, tell me.” Maverick says, looking down at you as you look up at him, nodding at his words.
“Thank you, dad.” You whisper, smiling as he presses a soft kiss against the top of your head as you rest your head back on his chest, relaxing in his arms and focusing on the tv and the steady thump of his heartbeat. Unconsciously, you hugged your dad a little tighter as you thought about how grateful you were for him. He wasn’t perfect. Nobody was. But he was doing his best and he was going to be there for you as best he could.
You didn’t doubt his words for a second.

I love writing so I will give everything a shot, and the writings can be suggestive as long as they aren't explicit. asks and requests are always open and welcome :))
