If the next semester is anything like the last two, I'm gonna struggle to decide what to cook most days because while I already have a collection of recipes that I'm interested in, I'm mostly motivated to use and expand that when I'm not busy/stressed, but going through my cookery books individually or coming up with meals off the top of my head also feels like too much effort a lot of the time, so! I'm making a second, smaller collection of suggestions for meals that are reasonably quick and easy to make, and I'm not done, but look at it!! Making new pages in Notion is way more fun than it should be

Food Photos from So Far in 2024:
1) Theoretically a lasagne but only theoretically. The second lasagne I've ever made; I didn't like lasagne until late in life, not being a tomato sauce fan, at least in the Midwest, which skews perception of food. But yeah, not enough sauce, not enough cheese; weird-looking.
2) Pasta in a meat sauce; didn't make enough of the *sauce* part so it really just looks (and tasted) like pasta in wet meat. The ratio was wrong, so it just didn't go off. The mozzarella at the last minute was obviously a mistake-- I think I ran out of parmesan.
3) Poached eggs over a little blurp of greek yogurt, with a handmade chili oil on top (and I sprinkled some dry basil, on). The chili oil + yogurt combo was nice, but I overcooked the poached egg, having not cooked one of those in a long, long time. I'd make this again, though-- it's a fun combination.
4) If you cook zucchini it melts into a kind of brown sauce. I did that, plus some little bits of salami, green onion, kale and onion. The zucchini sauce was fun to make-- I'd do that again; I mean, I might have to because I think I still have some zucchini left. (I like adding a little salami to things lately to pep things up but I don't know if that's, you know, What Television's Hannibal Would Do, the question I always ask in the kitchen; a lot of bad answers, though, it turns out that guy was kind of weird).
5) I've been making these tortellini salads for lunch-- store-bought tortellini, mixed with salami (see above), cucumber and sliced apple; plus some green. I can make a couple meals out of one package of tortellini, though the tortellini isn't really ideal cold a day later. I was out of kale, so I threw in some seaweed which was a mistake. This time around, I had some extra cucumber lying around that had been in a gochugaru-fish sauce mixture that was recommended-- that really zinged up the cucumbers, and added something to this one. I'll do that cucumber mixture more, but should probably mix in something else besides the tortellini, like just a simple rotini or something.
(Too much pasta so I think one goal in 2024 is to move away from that more...)

So this is going to be a post about AI. I know that’s a bit of a controversial topic on here so I’m going to start by saying that I hate AI ‘artists’ who steal other people’s works just as much as the next guy, but boy is AI getting good.
Let’s talk about chatGPT.
Most of the people who follow me know that I run the @oneshotcafe blog on here, and one of the things that I do is make the “weekly lunch specials” that is probably the main gimmick of the account. And I’ve actually been running out of ideas recently, I’m grasping at straws. And I was playing around with chatGPT and I’m like “hey, what if chatGPT could make my lunch specials for me?” so on a whim, i type in
Hello ChatGPT. In this conversation I would like you to roleplay as the owner of a cafe in the universe of the video game OneShot. I would like you to generate a list of “Lunch Specials” for use in the cafe themed around the video game OneShot.
And it did not disappoint.
"The Solstice Special" - a sandwich with turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing on a soft roll, served with a side of sweet potato fries.
"The World Machine Wrap" - a chicken Caesar wrap with lettuce, Parmesan cheese, and croutons, served with a side of pasta salad.
"The Tower Burger" - a hearty burger with bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion, served with a side of onion rings.
"The Prototype Panini" - a grilled panini with mozzarella cheese, tomato, basil, and balsamic glaze, served with a side of garlic parmesan fries.
"The Barrens Bowl" - a vegan bowl with quinoa, roasted vegetables, chickpeas, and tahini dressing.
"The Refuge Roll" - a sushi roll with tempura shrimp, avocado, cucumber, and spicy mayo.
"The Glen Gourmet Grilled Cheese" - a grilled cheese sandwich with cheddar and Swiss cheese, tomato, and bacon, served with a side of tomato soup.
"The Silverpoint Salad" - a salad with mixed greens, grilled chicken, dried cranberries, goat cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette.
Like, holy shit it makes better recipes than I do.
Anyways, I’m not going to take any ideas from chatGPT directly, but only use it for inspiration. For example, one of the ones it came up with was “Tower Tacos”, but it was a normal taco. It didn’t have any flair themed around the tower. Instead of the “seasoned ground beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and sour cream, served with a side of tortilla chips and salsa.” That it came up with, I would say maybe a breakfast taco. My idea would be “ground beef, and scrambled egg.” to be more reminiscent of the tower and the sun at the top. Perhaps with a few more details, but that’s the point.
In my opinion AI is a useful tool when you’re not just copying off of it. The AI is able to come up with good ideas, but they lack the flair of a human being, and the theme. An AI would never be able to think of the idea to theme a drink around reigen once you’ve run out of sans drinks, however it is a good idea tool.
Don’t know what i was trying to get at here by posting this, but i think it’s interesting.

Part of me just gets distracted, or forces myself to finish my work (not often lol) before interacting. Another part literally feels like I can't do justice to things people send me.... I'll work on that.
(I have no excuse for being so late in tag games except, distractions lol)
Anyway! Let me promote myself LOL I'll take a little inspiration from the Farmers Market fic I wrote a while ago. (this is also slightly self indulgent)
I think you'd have similar tastes and your favorites of course... Am I about to go overboard?
As far as fruit, I stand by Levi liking apples (I have a fic for that too hehe), and cherries, and fresh navel oranges. He's always got an apple or orange for lunch, or snacks on a bowl of cherries when they're in season. And loving apples as well, you're known to make tasty treats like tarts or muffins or crisps, and Levi always has his share.
You can't pass up the pineapple as well, or the blueberries and strawberries in season. Your freezer is full for smoothie ingredients. (Imma make a HC about everyones favorite fruit sometime)
Moving on to veggies, you stock up for salads and quick snacks. Bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, zucchini, yes! All of it! How can you pass up a 1.5 pound organic zucchini for $1? You can't!
You like winter squash as well like butternut for soups or acorn for stuffing...or both for muffins or casseroles! (I have recipes!)
Also potatoes for baking or mashing yourself. And they last forever.
Okay but the zucchini? You have to visit the cheese stall and get asiago or mozzarella to shred on the zucchini and pop it in the oven for 15 minutes. SO GOOD. Also feta for salads. Cheese is the bulk of your dairy as it's coconut or almond milk in your fridge.
The tea stall! Loose leaf, baggies, give us the usual black or green tea. Chamomile or sage tea, cinnamon and honey lemon, and fruity flavors once in a while like pomegranate or pear mango. :D
Oh and dried fruit and nuts! Levis a weirdo and likes dried beets and such. He can have those. The hazelnuts too. But you both like raw almonds and the nutty granola blend for days you have oatmeal and want a crunch. Sometimes you just use it as a cereal base and throw in the blueberries! Dried fruit like mango or papaya wind up in your bag too. And those apple slices!
We can't forget the bread! You have to watch it here more than anywhere. Rye or pumpernickel loafs, small rolls of sesame seed or garlic herb. Sometimes they're for breakfast and sometimes for lunch.
How about your honey and fresh jams and peanut/almond butters? Gotta have something to put between those sandwiches! Apricot preserves, orange marmalade, classic strawberry jam. (Jam spreads better then jelly!)
You know I don't know where you're going to put all this stuff LOL
Sometimes you also grab eggs, and look at the non food items like the crafty handmade woodwork or coasters (no more coasters!) or fresh bar soap like lavender!
BTW if anyone is waiting for me to throw meats in there, you're going to have to do it yourself haha sorry
Oh wait but maybe you splurge on pasta? There's so many varieties! Maybe you go for lemon garlic linguini, or sun dried tomato fettuccine. And pasta sauce made with organic tomatoes, garlic, onion, basil and olive oil. YUM!
And if you go early and don't eat breakfast, you'll get it there. Strawberry mango smoothies, waffles, guava or chocolate empanadas?? (You eat healthy all the time, it's okay to not once in a while!)
Maybe you get lunch to go like woodfire pizza, or veggie wraps and rice and beans. Yes, you have lots of food, but after lugging it around and putting it away who wants to cook? You need to take it easy for a minute!
As far as plants, more zucchini, you can never have enough. Tomatoes and whatever lettuce variety is your favorite, and fresh herbs like basil, rosemary and parsley.
Fruits are a little more tricky I think, but a fig plant can go indoors or outdoors, and fresh figs are a nice treat! Lemons and limes are a good option too, and you can use them for some flavored water or to keep cut apples fresh :D Maybe if there's room blueberries too, or plums. (and apples)

Character inspired meals: supernatural
Starter: Caesar Salad - Romaine lettuce

Dessert: Dairy free Strawberry cheesecake -
parmesan cheese, crisp croutons, caesar salad dressing
Main: American Pasta Salad - Bow-tie pasta, feta cheese, sweet basil, sliced black olives, halved grape tomatoes and it should have creamy balsamic dressing BUT I hate balsamic dressing so no.
Crust = raw pecan, almond flour, cinnamon, coconut oil & a tiny bit of salt. Filling = raw cashew, canned coconut milk but I'd assume lactose free would also work, (I say this because I HATE coconut milk) fresh lemon juice, coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla extract and a shit ton of strawberries. Sam has joked about being lactose intolerant before and true or not i am and id like to have these meals plus Dairy free options are usually more healthy and that's probably what same would go for. While there is cheese in the first two, it's only a little and we'd be fine but a cheese cake? No way, but I love cheesecake so we're gonna make it safe for us lol
Drink: Fresh apple juice.

Main: Kansas style Hunter’s chicken -
Starter: Mozzarella sticks - Mozzarella cheese and bread cumbs, no surprises in that. Anyway, in 15×10, Dean finds out he is also lactose intolerant but canon aside, he is DEFINITELY the type to say fuck it and eat anything anyway no matter the cost and mozzarella sticks slap so who cares? Not us. Mozzarella sticks are a classic starter but If you think that they're too light, even though it's a starter and its ment to be light, you could always go for my personal homemade tomato soup - Canned tomatoes, All purpose flour, fresh cream, butter, sugar, salt, pepper and I tend to top it off with basil or parsley. Dean mentions in a flashback that Mary would make tomato soup all the time when he was little so it's why it came to mind.
Kansas barbecue sauce, olive oil, finely chopped onions, chicken breast , tomato paste, bacon, grated cheddar, lettuce, chopped cucumber
Chopped radishes with lemon juice drizzled over it and a dash of black pepper, served with bread to eat the left of over sauce with. I recommend tiger bread. I thought this would work for dean cos it's 2 types of meat, it's messy and he feels like the kinda person to hear 'Kansas style' and go nuts for it.
Dessert: Apple cinnamon pie - Filling = Apples, golden caster sugar, cinnamon & flour. Pastry = butter more golden caster sugar, eggs & plain flour. Not much suprise here either. Dean's food needs are simple. I know y'all want me to say cherry pie but the meal I've made would go better with apple as a nice pallet clean. This is accidentally a very American meal but fun fact, Apple pie first originated in England, where it developed from culinary influences from France, the Netherlands, the Ottoman Empire and apple trees weren't even native to America until europeans arrived so idk why y'all decide to take it as if you did something here. Y'all did nothing here, that pie is my blood not yours. 😤 /hj Anyway, all this to say, apple pie will taste better with this and also gives a hint of Men of letters to the meal.
Drink: Cola. Simple man, simple needs.

Starter: PBJ mini parfait - yogurt, crunchy peanut butter, granola & strawberries. The jam is made of frozen mixed berries (like blackberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, redcurrants, strawberries ect), chia seeds, orange juice & maple syrup. Because cas canonically likes PB&J & i think mini parfait are neat.
Main: American style honey & banana pancakes with vanilla ice cream on the side - Honey for the bee obsession, bananas for the monkey obsession he also has the the same episode but people over look that part. "How important is lipstick to you, Dean?", American style pancakes are fluffy like angel wings lol and vanilla ice cream also reminds me of angels, i cannot elaborate on it, it just does.
Drink: Butterfly pea flower tea latte - cashew milk, blue butterfly pea flower powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract & dried rose petals for garnish. It's a bright blue, sweet, all natural beauty. Makes my heart flutter just looking at it, just like Cas. Lol what a simp. If you don't want to empty your wallet on one drink, you can have cinnamon coffee instead because his coat gives the vibe and Misha said he uses cinnamon sprays all the time and so always smells like cinnamon no matter what hes doing.
Dessert: Angel food cake - Plain flour, caster sugar, eggs, cream of tartar, lemon juice & zest, unsalted butter served with double cream, mango sauce, juiced lime, strawberries & passion fruits cos *place angel joke here*
Drink: Ice cream cola float - Cola + vanilla Ice cream. This was the most childish drink I could come up with, it's very hit or miss for people and you get the combo of Deans Cola and Cas' ice cream because it's very cute to me. I very much feel Jack would like this drink and Sam would hate it because it's far too unhealthy and weird, making it a perfect drink.

Easy And Delicious Italian Pasta Salad
Today, I planned on preparing a delicious pasta salad that I love to make, so I thought to myself, why not share it with you all, too? Italian pasta salad is an easy go-to in my home when I'm craving something fresh, light, and full of vegetables and protein, and is also toddler-approved! It provides a wide variety of textures and flavors that even the pickiest child is sure to find something within it to chow down on, and presents nutritious food for them in a colorful, fun way. Best of all, its easy, fool-proof, and quick to make! Don't have some ingredients listed? No problem! Feel free to add any vegetable or alternatives that you think will taste good! It's so versatile that you really can't go wrong! Want to go even healthier? Ditch the store-bought italian dressing and make your own with some herbs, veggies, vinegar, and oil. There's plenty of recipes online to try!
Easy And Delicious Italian Pasta Salad
(Makes about 6 servings)
Ingredients:
Box of tricolor rotini noodles, cooked
Half a bottle of light italian dressing
Half a red onion, diced
1 large green onion, diced
Half a bell pepper, diced
Half can of black olives, halved or sliced
Half a cucumber, diced
Half a large tomato, diced
1 lb of mozzarella or other light cheese, cubed
Half pound of salami or pepperoni, cubed or sliced
Instructions:
Boil noodles in water until desired tenderness is achieved, then drain and set aside to cool.
Chop up all vegetable, cheese, and meat ingredients and put into a bowl.
Add in cooled noodles to the same bowl, stir until incorporated.
Add in dressing and stir again until thoroughly mixed.
Serve and enjoy!

This delicious dish is sure to be a hit at your Fourth of July party. Ingredients - 8 oz of your favorite pasta - 1 cup of cherry tomatoes, halved - 1 cucumber, diced - 1 bell pepper, diced - 1/2 cup of your favorite cheese, cubed (we recommend mozzarella) - 1/4 cup of red onion, finely chopped - For Dressing: 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp mustard, salt, and pepper to taste.
