Hi, I just saw your art of the snake and the pigeon with aromantic flags, and they look amazing! I thought that a pigeon done in the colours of the queerplatonic and/or oriented aroace flag would be adorable. Did you know that pigeons mate for life and often show affection to their partner by cuddling with each other and giving them light pecks around the neck and head? They also are apparently great parents, with both males and females taking care of the young, this load is shared almost equally between the sexes. Both parents build nests, sit on eggs, and lactate (well “pseudo-lactation” technically) to feed chicks. I just thought the idea of two pigeons in a qpr would be really cute.
Sorry for the ramble about pigeons, I just really like them.

Don't apologise, I love me some pigeon facts. And you're absolutely right, two pigeons in a QPR would be really cute.

writing this down more for self-documentation than anything, but maybe others can relate.
it has been so hard for me to understand and come to terms with my orientation because i'm so constantly told that anything out of the norm is something i need to "get over" or heal from. so when i noticed all of my relationships felt weird, my crushes didn't seem to line up with those of my peers, and i never understood modern "courting" as i referred to it, i just assumed i was experiencing some form of trust issues or didn't understand myself enough.
i have never understood the term "dating for marriage." not because i don't understand why people would want to get married, but because ever since i started "dating" at 12, i consider each relationship to be a potential life partnership and could not understand why else anyone would want to date. i finally think i understand why people have purposefully short-term relationships or "flings." it's because they don't want partnership. they want physical, sexual fulfillment. which is fine! just not something i can relate to.
what i crave is someone to care and provide for. someone to experience life with. someone to build a life with. to raise kids with. to build a house with. to grow old and die with.
but i don't want to have sex with them. i simply do not look at people that way. i don't even particularly like on-the-mouth kissing. i would LOVE to have a partner that i can give forehead kisses and hold hands with. in the same way i show love to my little sisters.
what i want is someone to be my person, my partner in life that i can bring into my family and love unconditionally. but i don't think that looks like what most people think i should want.

Oriented aroace lesbian
I don't usually post much, but I am currently questioning whether I might be an oriented aroace lesbian, considering the fact that I experience neither romantic nor sexual attraction, yet I do experience aesthetic attraction towards women. In the comments, could anybody who identifies as an orientated aroace possibly elaborate on this? Sorry, I don't mean any disrespect in the slightest, but I am trying to understand the concept as best as possible, as the term oriented aroace lesbian seems to best describe me thus far, but I wish to be certain that I am not misinterpreting it.

When you’re aro but you have intrusive thoughts of romance, being in romance, and romantic things, these thoughts can influence your identity, can be related to or you just have it. This label is for neurodivergent people and neurotypical too!

We Stan an identity crisis it’s amazing
Having trouble figuring out if I’m a greyace lesbian or if I’m strictly aroace or oriented aroace
At this point like… I don’t understand the difference between infatuation and actual love, and I know a large part of that is due to my adhd and how I get dopamine and such, being obsessed at first because *new* *shiny* *fun* then losing interest. So for a hot second I’m like oh frayromantic and fraysexual, but I feel like it’s deeper than that in a way.
I don’t like real life men, only fictional characters and some actors but really due to the aesthetic more than anything. I don’t like real life men in a romantic or sexual or sensual ways lol I tolerate them and that’s about it. I do have some guy friends cause they’re the few men who don’t give me the total and utter ick. I love women they’re perfect but I don’t know if I’ve ever been in love or if I’ve just been infatuated and just liked being around them. Part of me thinks I just want to date and be in relationships so I won’t be lonely, but idk.
I love not knowing things yay
(Also don’t say “but labels don’t matter” cause they do to me I like being able to define myself and categorize my feelings and ideas)

Oriented aroace culture is having the most weird and ass backwards things you find attractive to the point where describing your "type" sounds like a complicated sequence of actions you have to do to unlock a cheat code in an N64 game
