Hello! I'd love to submit my intro post please and thank you :D

Hi everyone! My name is PL and my pronouns are they/them or she/her. I create for two fandoms: Extraction and Spiderhead. But as far as reading goes, I've got a vast list of interests and I'm always looking to discover new fandoms and new writers :). Other than tumblr, I also post on Ao3 under the same pen name. As far as what I'm looking for in the OC community, it's really about forming friendships and discovering great writers and fandoms I've never really put too much thought into before. I'm not sure what I could offer, other than giving writers another author to commiserate with over the joys and stresses that come with creating lol. I guess perhaps I could help with things that readers have praised me for, such as descriptions, dialogue, character building.

Anyway, that is me and what I'm looking for in a nutshell :)

you can send in/link a post you already made or just make a brand new introduction to your OC and their lore, as in depth or simple as you like! and we will share it so more people can have a chance to see. we want to be your microphone to spread the news of your characters, new or old, serious or silly, dramatic or simple, elaborate or otherwise. we can also share links to things like webcomics, games, or other amazing things you've made or started making that star those ocs!

Really sick and tired of Lunar and Earth hogging the spotlight. For fucks sake TSAMS is supposed to be about Moon and Sun, not about how super special lunar is and how EVERY villain is dead set getting their hands on him. First it was Bloodmoon, and then Ruin, and then Eclipse, and then the astral bodies, and then creator and I am 200% sure it will be God Eclipse next. Please, show runners, the star power lunar plot line is so boring. please give the ORIGINAL MAIN CHARACTERS something to do other than be side characters on their own show. Its the same with the MGFS. It feels like Foxy and puppet's VA has to constantly remind Monty that other characters exist outside of Lunar and Earth. I understand they enjoy their OCs, but damn, if you don't want to play the title characters of your show find a VA that DOES.

Who do we have the pleasure of speaking with today? 

The Commander. Pepa.

What's your background? Where do you come from?

Rata Sum, same as anyone! Statics was home for a while. Then the Priory - 17 years as an Explorer! But you know what we asura say, time's an underground river. Fast, cold, hard to see ahead, and always liable to plunge you into a long lightless, airless tube with smooth rock on every side. I guess it's been rushing me along from place to place for a long time now!

What are some important relationships in your life? (romantic, platonic, familial, etc)

Oh, I'm lucky enough to have a few. Taimi, my protege - don't let her hear me call her that. My partners, Teek and Tarakk. Gorrik is... hm. I guess that's up to Taimi. Don't let her hear me say that, either. And of course, the whole guild is really dear to me. My family is still out there in Rata Sum, too! ... I should comm them, shouldn't I?

Have you done anything you'd like to brag about?

If you're asking the Commander? Nothing you haven't heard before. If you're asking ME? Well, I try to stay humble about it but Taimi let me write a foreword to her treatise draft! Or, she let me put forward a draft for her consideration. I think she asked some other asura too. Ones who've been more recently involved in academia. I bet Zojja wrote one. I bet she liked Zojja's... Drat.

What's your profession? What does a typical day look like for you?

I'm a spectre, obviously. Haven't you read... Oh, you. You mean like a job, don't you. Well, I'm. You know. I'm the Commander.

What are some hobbies you enjoy?

It's been a long time since I raided Stone Summit tombs and lost ratas for the Priory, but I still love collecting artifacts. Things that tell you about the habits and priorities of long dead communities. It sounds sad, but some of the toys, tools, and adornments I've found make me smile whenever I handle them. So many millions of people came before us. And now that the Cycle is ended, I know there will be so many after. I also like that human game, tennis.

SotWK OC Spotlight: Prince Turhir Thranduilion

Born in Third Age 37, the second son and child of Elvenking Thranduil and Elvenqueen Maereth. 

His name means “Victorious Master” in Sindarin. 

Towering at 7 feet, 6 inches, he is not only the tallest member of Thranduil’s family, but he is the tallest of all elves born in the Woodland Realm, in all of its history. (For reference, Thranduil is 7 feet, 3 inches, and the other Thranduilions are all less than 7 feet.)

As a child, Turhir had difficulty making friends with elflings close to his age. Since he was always much bigger and physically stronger, even from infancy, it was hard for him to play normally with them. His size and his more somber nature also made his childhood peers uncomfortable around him--and it was difficult enough to relate to a prince!

As a result, Turhir was rather lonely in childhood and spent most of his time with his mother, his older brother Mirion, and his tutors.

Otherwise, he spent his alone time reading and thus grew up into an avid reader. He especially enjoys narrative poems, and became an eloquent writer and poet himself. 

He is a skilled carpenter and builder who helps construct community buildings in his spare time.

He is a member of the very exclusive guild of Greenwood woodcutters--laborers who fell trees, which is a highly restricted and regulated practice.

Turhir is a horsemaster and was the primary trainer of the arroch breed that existed only in Greenwood (discussed in this post). He had a close relationship with the ancient ancestors of the Rohirrim who once dwelt near Greenwood.

But the talent Turhir is most famous for, by far, is his battle prowess, which is discussed in this post. Thranduil noticed his son’s martial abilities very early on and persuaded the reluctant Elvenqueen to let their son begin training with Master Trainer Ivenil before he had properly come of age.

Turhir carries the official title of the King’s Champion, and would be called on to fight for the crown and kingdom if single combat is required. 

Although Turhir loves tournaments, especially jousting, his size and skill give him too large an advantage over his opponents. It has been deemed hazardous for him to participate in these types of competitions, so he is usually left only to spectate.

Occasionally, he is able to publicly demonstrate his skills by competing against his own father and brothers in special events limited within the royal family. 

His Royal Highness Turhir’s regency in north-western Greenwood (the province he governs) is seated in Thangail (“shield-fence” in Sindarin), one of the realm’s most recently established cities, built to house the largest military base in the kingdom. 

Turhir is the closest in personality with his father, but Thranduil tends to be hardest on him compared to his other sons. Turhir is thus closer to his mother and is the most protective of her. 

Turhir considers Mirion and Arvellas his closest friends in the world, and witnessing both their deaths nearly drove him to insanity. 

Although he is very noble and good-hearted, Turhir is the most prone to being corrupted by Darkness in his family, and Sauron himself grew aware and took interest in this.

So far, Turhir has drawn the least amount of interest among the Thranduilion Princes, which is not necessarily surprising to me, since that's how it would probably be in "real Middle-earth life". You might not like him at first glance, but once you get beneath the layers, there's a lot to admire there. He's an excellent hero for the "enemies to lovers" trope, and is a terrific Mr. Darcy archetype.

Also, I don't write and don't plan to write smut for the Thranduilions, but if there was ever a great leading man for that sort of thing among Thranduil's sons, Turhir would be my endorsed candidate. Just a creator's opinion. ;)

Hey, first things first thanks for this ! I've been lurking in the shadows for a long time and I just know you're the heart of the writing community here, thank you for all the love and the hard work !

I'm Lef or Pikkulef, mostly an original story writer nowadays, I'm working on a novel that's for now called "Dead Men Talk Way Too Much" (this is a working title lol) that's both a ghost/horror story and a romance, that deals with themes of transmission, family, death, and acceptance of oneself, by oneself, and others.

THE DISQUALIFIED

the disqualified [noun, origin unknown] refers to a character who's became too numb to the concept of the world, to the point of deeming oneself not able to express any sort of emotion, whether positive or a negative one. this state is usually the one to follow after feeling too much, as if to balance out the overwhelming sensation of human emotion. living up to their title, they often consider themselves 'disqualified' from being a human, forsaken and unloved, abandoned by the world they've never had interest in. they don't know where they belong or where should they go - every second of breathing air is a waste of oxygen someone worthier could use. the disqualified symbolize the constant state of feeling nothing but tiredness, state where all is merciless but the end. this is the one and only test outcome where i as the writer shall personally interfere - please, my most beloved disqualified, keep longing to feel again. there's so much you've never felt and so much you'll desire to feel again. in the words of Osamu Dazai (who's the creator of the title 'the disqualified' I so happily stole) - "Everything passes." a statement as short as it is true - everything passes, even the numbness. after it, you'll experience so much more beauty of the world - beauty that might pass just as the numbness did, but in it's temporary and unique nature lies the reason why it's to be cherished. so, please, try to hold on a bit. sometimes, holding on is the best we can do and most of the times, it's just enough. - a (former) fellow disqualified

THE ICARUS

[noun, greek origin] refers to a character, first curious and childish, who got so bored of the world's rotten nature they lost all hope in living. as the last resort to find the spark in the world of dying stars, the icarus may have attempted numerous times to touch the blazing surface of the sun, hoping to see any kind of redemption in the reflection of their face in the sun's flames. as a result, their wings were melted down and their bones broken by the harsh landing, yet that still didn't stop them from trying all over again. the people of icarus' nature often believe their place is with the stars and their desire to burn amongst them causes them to forget the beauty of the land they've abandoned, merely flying over it - the world has stored so much beauty for them they often struggle to see through the rays of sun and yet, it is still there. the most beautiful of flowers grow upon the lands their feet haven't even touched and maybe, just maybe, if they spared a bit of their time to give the (them forsaken) world another chance, they'd see that sky might not be the home they truly desire, but one they ve seeked just because they have seen only the worst of the world. - a fellow icarus

THE FALSE MUSE

the false muse [noun, latin origin] refers to a character that attempts to be perfect in order to receive certain amount of praise, or to inspire others to go in their footsteps. they tend to seek the spotlight, the podium, the gaze of the people looking up to them, with praise and validation being what keeps them pursuing the way of living they did before. the false muses surely have their goals, but the biggest one is to simply be better than yesterday and worse than tomorrow, to be in a constant state of self improvement they'll never deem enough. this is what leads them to the ocassional state of burnout, state one may describe as trying so hard to please the artist you become the opposite of a muse - hence why they're called false ones. the false muses might be tempted to think that they’ve never achieved perfection, but the truth is, there's no such thing as perfection, nor is there a way to achieve it. all muses could long for is merely the perfect version of themselves and they’ve achieved that already, over a thousand times.

THE SAINT

the saint [noun, latin origin] refers to a character that has taken upon themselves the role of saint via listening to prayers, concerns and troubles of others. characters falling under this cathegory are obviously merely metaphorical saints, which is a quality many people struggle to realize. the saints are said to be helpful and caring under any circumstance, believing that making themselves useful increases their self worth in the eyes of people they care about. they often forget that they are indeed humans in roles of saints, that they still have human limitations and problems that can potentially pile up until they fall from the metaphorical heavens they occupy...yet mostly, this doesn't stop them from taking burdens from people and putting it on their own back in hopes of being more responsible in taking care of them. there's strange naivety in the good they do, slight hope that they can take everything and anything they try to fix and help out with. this naivety is often replaced with denial and regret as soon as one realizes that sometimes, it's impossible to pose as a saint. but that's just the tragic cycle of them - trying to help out, getting dragged from heavens by the burden they voluntarily stole, falling, laying on the ground wide-eyed and tired before climbing back into the clouds again. as of now, there's no cure to being one of the saints - it is up to them to realize that they are not responsible for anyone's happiness apart from their own and that it's not selfish to put them before others. it's natural and - as much as they want to stray away from it - human. - a fellow saint

FAQ

What is this? Let's Talk Whump is a series of interviews with whump bloggers aimed at spotlighting the amazing writers here in this community. It aims to promote and support whump blogs by providing a unique way of talking about the whump experience.

Who can be interviewed? Anyone who writes whump.

How are interviewees selected? They are either nominated or we reach out to people randomly.

Can I nominate more than one person? Yes. Absolutely!

Can I nominate myself? Technically, you can. Should you is a different question though.

Where do I nominate someone? In the askbox please!

Does the nominee need to have original work? Yes. It doesn't need to be a series/ OCs (ie. prompt or generic whump blogs are fine) but they do need to have some original work. We do apologise, however this blog aims to spotlight creators and a lot of the questions are aimed at writers and their writing processes. If you do want to discuss a specific situation, please DM us.

How long does the interview process take? Around 48-72 hours. It all depends on how soon responses are received, the editing time and sometimes unexpected things do crop up.

What does an interview involve? It involves answering series of questions talking about the experience and love for whump and it's community. At the moment the questions are standardised but there's a possibility of customising them in the future. After we receive the answer, we edit and format and then work with the interviewee to ensure they're happy with the results. Once they are, the interview is published!

Can I suggest interview questions? Definitely! Please do.

Can visual artists/gif makers be included? A couple of people have asked this and it's definitely been something I've considered carefully. Unfortunately, at the moment, we're unable to include visual artists, gif makers and such simply due to the sheer scope. It's something that could possibly be done in the future if there was extra Mods.

I have some, I’ve only really read Murder Drones ones lol so I can recommend some of those! (Note they’re basically all Nuzi😔 BUT THEYRE RLY GOOD)

Cinnamon Scent: An amazing coffee shop/slice of life AU written by the lovely @noridoorman over here on tumblr! The writing is some of the best I’ve seen and the story they’ve set up is honestly amazing so far. I’m pretty sure they’ve stated before that they are gonna be focusing more on nuzi stuff in the next coming chapters but all of the character relations they’ve set up so far are amazing nonetheless. I could literally rant about how good the writing is for hours but I’ll spare you from that🧍‍♀️(For now)

On The Rebel Path: A really interesting oc insert fic with honestly a really cool plot that I haven’t seen done before. I originally started reading it cause I was in desperate need for nuzi content (I love them ok) but the plot is genuinely very interesting and I really enjoy the writing for this one as well! I won’t spoil anything because I’d rather you read the story itself. The word count is pretty big but it’s honestly so worth it. The character relationships along with their oc is very well written and very interesting to read about! It’s not all nuzi but their dynamic is definitely in the spotlight a bit of the time. it doesn’t overtake the plot by any means which I’m glad for as the story itself is genuinely very entertaining.

by chance: I’m not really one for human aus that much but this one is honestly so good. It’s a streamer au fic that (once again) focuses a lot on nuzi fluff but oh boy the writing is amazingly done. All of the interactions are just the right amount of fluffy cringe I just love it sm/vpos. The latest chapter hit me so hard omfg I’ve never had a fic made me cry or relate to it before but here we are🧍‍♀️. I’m pretty sure the creator has a tumblr but I can’t remember the @ atm so if anyone wants to @ them in the comments feel free too!

These are my top three atm but there’s SO many more that I really enjoy so if you’d like me to make a part 2 to this feel free to ask!! Writers are honestly so underrated when it comes to the fanart medium as a whole because omg good writing is genuinely a talent that takes a lot of practice just like any other art form.

The one that got away

character — venti x fem!reader

warnings — grammatical errors, typos, not proofread, reincarnation au, angst, slight comfort?, inspired by the venti ship w a friend's oc in a dc server i'm in c:

It was a shame, to run out of time in the past.

Just remembering how you died had Venti wincing and his mood going down immediately, knowing he could've saved you. He could of done something, yet he stood there frozen and watched as you get your life taken away from you.

He was the Anemo Archon, was he not? He was an Archon. He could have stopped it, he could have prevented the incident from happening. He could have done something to lengthen your life span.

How interesting. Venti? Falling in love? He never guessed he'd experience such thing, he was always the watcher, the audience. Never the main spotlight, never the one to experience. And yet... there he was... way off his ambitions, falling in love deeper by the minute.

Falling in love with a creation who couldn't even feel emotions.

Heh.

And then it was ruined, every single little dream crushed when his beloved's body dropped to the ground.

'It's unfair.' He thinks, with how he lived while you didn't. A former God, cursing his immortality... wishing for the sweet release of death.

But at the same time... he thinks, he knows, he deserves it. He deserves to live with the guilt, the mistake and the regret for eternity. He does not deserve to be relieved, to be at ease, not when he had a fault, or at least that's what he thinks. A punishment.

Years, centuries, decades had passed.

And he's still there, still stuck in the past, with the same feeling, same memory. The first time Venti hasn't let something go, the first time he stayed stuck into something.

And as he slides open the door he assumes to be his club's door, he is greeted by the sight of you.

His the one that got away.

Oh, you looked so... beautiful. Just like the day he lost you.

'My cecilia.'

He missed you.

And when you bolted up from your seat and turned to look at him who stood just at the door, your eyes full with the look of unknown. Like you've never met him before yet something was familiar. If it weren't for Venti's composed nature, he would of crumbled just by seeing you again.

Finally. After centuries.

'Welcome back.'

“Sorry? May I ask who you are and what you are doing here?”

His heart aches, snapping back to reality. Of course, you wouldn't know nor remember him. You wouldn't know of what happened in the past, and... somehow, Venti was okay with that. For you to live a life with no knowledge how much you had to suffer just so you could please your creator, to be seen and heard by her...

'It's better this way.'

He thinks, and then he flashes you a smile—unsure if you can even see him in this life for you were blind in the past. “Apologies for the intrusion, it wasn't my intentions to startle you. I'm...” He pauses, hesitating.

Does he even deserve to be known by you?

In this life?

After his mistake?

Does he deserve to be blessed by your presence once more?

Questions. So many questions he shook off, not wanting you to wait longer for his introduction. “I'm Venti. Apologies, I sort of... forgot my bands practice room.” He gives a sheepish smile, remembering his band mates were once the people he gifted an anemo vision to.

A feeling of hope swirled inside Venti when he sees a look of familiarity in your eyes, then that hope disappearing hearing your next words. “5wirl, right? I am sorry, but I don't know where's their practice room too. You found the wrong person to ask.”

He inwardly sighed, of course. You won't remember. It's not impossible yet the possibility of you recalling who he was and what you two once had... it was quite small.

He plans to avoid you, to not destroy your happiness. And yet he still stood there at the door, a look of concern on his face when he notices a slight look of sadness in your eyes.

He noticed. He always did.

“It's alright, I was just planning on practicing alone anyway. If it's not too rude to ask.. Are you alright? You just looked sad, and it's none of my business but I just want to uh... make sure?” He inwardly winced at his choice of words as he looked at you, nevermind his choice of words. He wanted to make sure you were alright.

Just like how he did back then.

“You just met a random person in a dark and empty school. First reactions is to be scared. Aren't you scared?” You leaned back on your chair with a small smile towards his way and he's sure he could feel his heart flutter at the sight of it. “Hm. You're weird.”

“Hm?” Your words catch his attention, crossing his arms as he leaned on the door frame with a smile. “I dont know. Should I be scared of you?”

No. No matter how much you were hated, you were misunderstood and seen as the villain... Venti was never afraid of you.

“Should you be? We're just strangers and schoolmates. Don't you think you should be alarmed around people than be so carefree with them?” You hum as you tapped your fingers on the desk, looking like you were expecting something happening. “Hm.. No, not to you at least.” He shrugged, his smile slightly widening when he hears you chuckle. 'Precious.'

“You trust me so easily. You don't even know who am I, yet.” His tight-lipped smile fully widens hearing your words, a slight pang in his heart remembering only he remembered.

'I do. I do know you.'

“Ah. Is that so? I don't think I trust people easily.” As long as you're happy. He won't mind if he'll carry this regret alone.

“What makes me different?” You turn your chair around to smile at him. “Do invite yourself in. You might get tired standing there, I am not one to turn away guests.”

A smile. Something you had never gave him back then, it felt new. Relieving to see you, it felt... wonderful. To see you feel, to have emotions and know about them now.

And then the longing feeling in his heart returns once more, “Hm, not sure. But you're different in a good way.” Venti accepts your invite and walks in the room, taking a chair for himself to sit on as he faced you.

Just this once.

Just this once allow him to indulge in this longing feeling. To see you, look at you once more. To admire you up close once again.

'Once. Just this one time.' He promises to himself as both of you settle in a comfortable conversation. Something both of you never had time with back then.

'We didn't really have any time back then, didn't we?'

It would be a wonderful part to add on the story 'The Anemo Archon and The Puppet'. A story with two people, having a timer that ran out quicker than they expected.

Such story... It was interesting to Venti, to see that someone wrote about it and it has been one of the legends, a heartbreaking 'love story' as some mortals would call it.

And what they didn't know was that the story had it's continuation, in a new life.

The Anemo Archon's love for the creation endured even after her passing and reincarnation, yet the cruel twist of fate left him admiring from a far with a longing heart.

Star-crossed lovers. That's what you and him were. Out of touch, out of time.
