sorry, still thinking about whirl. imo the most important characteristic whirl has in MTMTE isn't the obvious ones. it's not that he's an asshole, it's not that he's funny, it's not that he's violent, it's not that he's done terrible things, it's not that he hates himself. all of those are important, and they're usually the immediately obvious traits that stick out panel to panel. but they're not what drives the narrative function of the character most across the whole run of the comic.
imo the thing that most defines the engine driving whirl's narrative function is that he is astute and perceptive. it doesn't come up in obviously quotable panels moment to moment, but the way his arc interacts with the overall arc of the comic is that whirl is the one who sees through a lot of the bullshit that's going on and the way he acts and the decisions he makes overwhelmingly rely on that knowledge. unlike most characters, his decisions are rarely defined by the emotional intensity of his own investment in this or that thing (an interpersonal relationship, an insecurity, a need to prove something) but instead by his sharp awareness of the dynamics of the people around him.
whirl knows the score with rodimus and what the whole mess that is their 'mission' is really about- or rather, what it isn't about, not really. he does not take it seriously because he understands in a very real way, it's just not serious, it's an excuse. whirl knows the score with cyclonus and tailgate and when to intervene in that whole mess instead of being kind about it. whirl understands what getaway is doing and where it's leading and that both makes his decision to initially back getaway's plan both an asshole move but also a decision made with total clarity, in contrast to almost everyone else who makes that decision. whirl knows how to get past drift's act and gets a punch in the face for it, because he smells the bullshit there immediately. whirl is not unaware of the social dynamics on the LL at all; he is choosing to be as abrasive and inhospitable as he usually is on purpose with full knowledge of what he's poking at. whirl gets to the supposed afterlife and immediately knows it cannot possibly be real!
unlike basically every other major character, there's really no point whirl makes a decision with his judgement meaningfully clouded by something. he has a strong interiority and motivations, absolutely, but above all else he is making every decision, no matter how bad or self destructive, with a level of genuine awareness and clarity that is pretty much unique, and his assessment of everyone and everything around him is pretty much unmatched if you read between his constant pisstaking. it's fantastically good, and what makes him a completely essential part of the ensemble all the way through the comic's run. nobody else can be so consistently relied on to respond to the situation presented to him as it is. (cyclonus is really the only person in the cast who recognises this, i think, and it explains why they wind up perfectly matched. see again: whirl's interventions with him and tailgate.)

Random & weirdly specific SFW/NSFW Vox head-cannons because I lije him
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
SFW:
- Though he does drink coffee, he isn’t a coffee addict surprisingly, I feel like he wouldn’t drink coffee unless he absolutely thinks he has to. Also, he likes to flex his awesome coffee cup. His average cup of joe consists of probably 6-8 oz of coffee, like 10 sugar packs , & 2 oz of creamer.
- You probably realized my not so subtle hints towards Vox loving sugar, because of his eccentric demeanor and his loud self, he would obviously love sugary sweets, not as much as drinks though. Vox is like those type of people who survive off of 10 energy drinks per day rather than water, claiming it was “cool”. I wouldn’t be surprised if he started the monster can craze in 2020.
- HIS BEDROOM GUYS, his bedroom. The vast majority of his bedroom is, surprise, blue. It’s messy but in a “good” way? I don’t know how to explain it but his room is not food or clothes messy. It’s cable cord messy, like back of the tv hooked up to the gaming system messy LMAO. He doesn’t visit his room a lot; he doesn’t even call it “his room” but I am. Blue led lights everywhere, tv screens all over the walls just like his office. The man doesn’t even have a bed! I also think his room is filled with unsuccessful prototypes of his old VoxTek shit. If you’re super close to him he’d let you play with them <3
- If you want to “win his heart” I think you’re gonna wanna know a thing or two about technology. If not prepare for hours of him ranting about shit you don’t know. Because wdf
- Despite him being a bratty piss baby, he’s intelligent, he’s a fucking technology engineer, businessman, & founder of a huge company in Pentagram City for god’s sake . Just not emotionally and actually fun fact, smarter people have trouble connecting with emotions of other people, hence why he’s so manipulative and whatnot. (Smart people do stupid shit) I compare him to Elon Musk or something
- So his phone…whats on his phone?! Seriously what the fuck is on his phone. There is actually a ss of hell’s apps on one of the imps phone, I will post it here! But firstly the only apps that’ll be on his phone is VoxFlix, Sinstagram (even though he’s probably more of a stalker than a poster) Envee (TikTok), and all the other apps that come with the Vphone. He probably does not have the hell equivalent to facebook because “who the fuck uses hellbook” guys he watches porn btw.
- For a tiny small fraction of angst, though he has a relationship with reader…i dont think he’ll stop watching porn (not that he has a crippling porn addiction lmao…he watches it every now and then) unless you really get in your feelings about it. But then he’ll just think you’re totally overreacting.
NSFW
- Speaking of porn, his deep desires is to record a video of him absolutely fucking your brains out…or if youre a top…you absolutely fucking HIS brains out.
- (For my switches) First time he realized you top too, he was reluctant at first because, what would that do to his sweet repuation? If someone finds out? If someone finds him bent over the table, caught him pants down, getting penetrated by a dick (silicone or real), the risks of someone taking a pic and posting it for everyone to see especially Alas— sorry guys.
- (For my tops) BIG PISS BABY. Complains all the fucking time. About how much it hurts and wanting you to slow down for a second so he can catch his breath. Seeing him glitch at your nasty remarks. And if you’re a mean top, he fucking hates it so good but it feels so bad. Seeing him cry about the negative attention you’re sending his way, he craves nothing more than to be perceived in a positive light. Thats why he hates alastor cause he thinks he hates him so therefore he hates him back 🤷🏽‍♀️. But if you’re a nice top, get ready for needy Vox.
- Like I said he’s a power bottom if you’re a top, he just doesn’t know it yet <3
- Big sucker for praise. Wants to be called a good boy. I will admit he was shy at first about you commanding him to call himself a good boy for that sweet long awaited praise. Poor baby ;(
- “I-I’m a good…good boy..?” ^^^
- His cum is not blue guys 😔… his cum is milky, stiky like caramel, sweet like pineapple, and white like a sheet of paper.
- IT WOULD BE SO COOL IF I INCLUDE SCARY DETAILS ABOUT HIS DICK GUYS!! 👻👻 /hj
- Girth: 2.5in Length: 6-7in Tip color: #03cafc Number and placement of veins: 3 noticeable veins, two crossing diagonally from eachother and more closer to the balls, the other one is more closer to the tip Base color: #304891 Miscellaneous: slightly curved to the right (it’s barely there but if you look closely). Grower > Shower
yall i had to re upload because i came to my senses that i dont see vox topping at all like he’s too…HIM for that. 😭 im so embarrassed dont be alarmed if i say i will literally eat the nearest brick wall like a cake !

Rodimus and making Necessary Sacrifices
The most famous one: blowing up Nyon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Btw Megatron could totally have saved the people in Nyon if he wanted to; he knew about Zeta's plan beforehand. All he needed to do was give Hot Rod and the citizens an evacuation alert. But he didn't because he wanted to give Optimus a good emotional impact with all the deaths and who cares about the common lowlife anyway, all they're good for is getting bodily thrown at Zeta until his weapon overloads from draining too many people.
Kimia station in Chaos Theory:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Red text bubble is Optimus. He doesn't wait for Optimus to agree before directly giving Omega Supreme orders to shoot Kimia down.
Reaction after confirming that Doubledealer is a traitor:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Using Rung as bait for the sparkeater:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last two panels also gives us something on how he views (his own) authority. Because while he's always held a position of authority in high command, the high command is still a council. On the ship his authority is absolute.
The next three scenarios form a pattern. It always starts with Rodimus telling someone to kill a comrade, the person tasked with the killing goes 'what I don't want to do that', and Rodimus tones down the order from death to wound.
Ordering Rewind and Swerve to shoot at Fort Max:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ordering Swerve to hurt Ore:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ordering Cyclonus to shoot Brainstorm:
Tumblr media
Each of these scenarios is in response to a critical situation. Rodimus' first orders of 'aim to kill' are, while extreme, not disproportionate to the level of threat presented. They're within reason and authority. And ceding from kill to wound when protested is proof that he doesn't not care. But it also shows that his first instinctual reaction towards threats is to kill first ask questions later, even if the threat used to be his friend, comrade, or compatriot, he's able to weigh the lives on a scale and make that hard decision. He's also the type of person who's very comfortable with taking the fates other people into his own hands and deciding whether they should live or die (which is why him choosing to spare Getaway after retaking the Lost Light is a sign of character growth).
His characterization is fairly consistent throughout the comics, except for this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything in Spotlight Hot Rod goes against his later presentations. In his spotlight he's said to repeatedly beat himself up over one failed mission and is averse to taking responsibility towards other people for fear that he'd get them killed but in later issues he has No Problems doing exactly that. He displays no preferences for 'going solo' aside from the mission to retrieve the matrix and that's because everyone else kicked him out. When he wanted to leave on the Lost Light he made speeches to convince other people to join him despite the fact the Autobots were already outnumbered on Cybertron and taking people away would make their situation worse. Whenever he went anywhere in mtmte he assembled a team to accompany him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene especially contradicts Spotlight Hot Rod in every single way. The only consistent aspect of his character is the recklessness. He forces Optimus to authorize a rescue mission, of which he declares himself the team leader, ignores Optimus' caution about keeping it clandestine and tells everyone to barge through the front door, shuts Ironhide's objections down by pulling rank, then falls into a trap and gets Ironhide killed. Mission failed too obviously, they only got Prowl out. Optimus takes responsibility for the failure and surrenders to the humans, of which Rodimus' response is: "he freaked out because he couldn't hack it" and promptly also proceeds to drop everything and leave because yay there's no one to keep me on this stupid planet anymore and whoever wants to can come with. Where. is the guilt.
That and the whole fiasco with Swindle and Menasor were probably Rodimus' worst moments lol. Overall he's the type of leader good with stressful trolley problems but bad at considering the larger or long-term implications of his actions. His flippancy towards life and death and tendency to solve problems with the bluntest approach bleeds heavily into his leadership decisions and... just how his character is in general. Thank goodness there's only one of Drift and he's gone for most of the Lost Light voyage, Rodimus really doesn't work well with too many yes-men hanging around.

revisiting my opinions on which doctors could pull off Heaven Sent
could do it with minimal alterations to the original episode's plot and dialogue
Twelve - obviously
Eight - could 100% pull off the speeches and the angst and, of course, the memory loss. The episode would definitely be focused a little more on the great tragedy of dying over and over and over again just in the hopes of making it through enough loops to break out, and Eight would be much much more of a sad wet cat about it all, but he could totally pull it off.
Seven - would take a bit more tweaking than Eight (specifically to change the focus of the episode to the puzzle of it all, finding the right room and figuring out the secret of the Veil), but would 100% punch his way through the wall and be able to pull off the speeches.
could maybe do it? but with pretty major edits
Four - definitely has the charisma and the ability to give the speeches, but I don't know if the speeches as written would fit well into how Four talks, and he'd also need the same tweaking at Seven to make it more about solving the mystery, rather than the very atmospheric style of the original. The wall scene would also probably have to be reworked, since Four doesn't really seem like the type to punch through it in the exact same way as Twelve.
Three - could and would punch through the wall and would do it in half the time of Twelve but couldn't carry off the angst or the atmosphere, so you'd need some pretty dramatic rejiggering of the major stylistic choices in order to make it work. Honestly, you might have to really lean into a, like, horror/thriller kinda thing, with the pursuit of the Veil?
could pull off a focus episode but would need a fundamentally different style
Ten/Fourteen - absolutely has the screen presence but they need someone to talk to in order to get it, and the same is true of their problem-solving style. They need someone to bounce off of as an antagonist and as a companion -- basically, they need the same setup as Wild Blue Yonder, which is basically exactly what Fourteen's version of Heaven Sent would be anyways. (Also Ten doesn't do speeches like Twelve does, and definitely wouldn't punch through the wall -- his problem-solving style leans more towards the whole "push a single button that sets off a chain reaction that solves everything" rather than sheer stubborness. He doesn't have the attention span for the wall.)
Nine - Nine also has the screen presence but his comes when he's angry at something, which means that he needs something to yell at, so he would also need another speaking being present in the episode for him to get really really mad at. Think Dalek but without the Rose subplots?
probably not (note: the major reason why none of these work for Heaven Sent is because they're all Doctors that work best with an ensemble cast around them -- they sacrifice intensity and screen-presence for the sake of letting other characters shine)
Eleven - doesn't have the screen presence for that kind of intensity, alas. He could pull off the speeches in his own style, but he's not hypnotic while doing them the same way Twelve is, and he definitely doesn't have the type of personality to pull off the wall. His best emotional episodes are smaller and closer to the heart, and Heaven Sent is anything but small.
Five - could not pull off the speeches or the wall or the puzzle. He's a sweetheart and a golden retriever but he's not nearly dramatic enough to carry a solo episode like that.
Two - same as Five, really
One - just... no. I can't pull out any reasons (it might just be that he's from an era of television that was so very different in how it constructed stories), but no
no clue
Fifteen - hasn't been around long enough for me to get a sense of his personality
Thirteen - never really had a consistent personality in the first place. or any good emotional episodes so I don't feel like I know her well enough to make a judgement call
Six - just straight-up haven't seen very much of his run so I couldn't say how he'd fit in Heaven Sent.

love sick — 05. it’s all cliché and full of obvious red flags
romance 101; guideline #18 — before anything else, to love someone is to love yourself first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the squeak of the ball hitting the ground and shoes sliding across the vinyl flooring were the sounds you heard as you spent the past hour or so watching grown men consistently smashing a ball. you were one to play your roles well but you did not find that much of an interest in sports in general. you understood why people enjoyed them but it never really became your “thing”. as you watch your quote-en-quote boyfriend on the court, you’re beginning to see the appeal.
you had eyes, it was no wonder why so many people fell for suna rintarou if you only consider his physical attributes from afar. maybe it was his gaze? It was the kind that lures you in, he doesn’t look particularly interested most of the time, perhaps that was why people get a kick when he reacts differently. people have their preferences so you wouldn’t put it past them to be attracted to suna’s kind, those who make you want to learn more about them because of how reserved they are.
you look at your phone to check the time, it is 1:30 pm, their practice was supposed to end early. “early” because they began at around 6 in the morning, you could never even imagine running in the morning.
you sighed, it wasn’t like being in the gymnasium was that bad. your friends, atsumu and kageyama were here too since they were part of the team but other than that you were a total loner. sure, there are some other people here with business you don’t know of and some just there to watch and you could probably approach one of them to get some company… but that meant you had to further the conversation, you usually do have a lot of things to say but that’s exactly the problem.
your mind wanders to a conversation you had with a person the other day instead, their name was… hayami? yeah, it was hayami. she wanted to approach you about this certain situation she was in. her friend of four years confessed to her and she didn’t know what to do because she didn’t know if she liked him back in that way. throughout the years she’s had several “what-ifs” about liking this friend but it was never really a strong emotion. now that he’s confessed to her, she doesn’t know how to properly respond and she ended up running away from him. she's afraid he thinks she hates him now.
the first thing you told her was that it was okay to feel confused because she didn’t have to name a proper emotion for it right now, being “sure” of liking someone can take time. you advised her to tell him that she needs time to think first so he isn’t left hanging and that whatever she decides what to do, he should be able to understand. hayami voiced out her worries that she didn’t want to hurt his feelings because of how much she treasured their friendship. you replied by stating that not saying and telling what she meant from the beginning could hurt her and him more in the long run.
“head in the clouds?” a voice you’ve recently become used to reach your ears. you jerk your head back only to see suna in front of you, a towel slung over his shoulder.
“are you done?” your shoulders resigned from the previous bit of shock at his presence, you really were too lost in your thoughts.
“yeah, i’ll just get some things from the changing room,” he said, you nodded while your eyes drifted behind him. atsumu was wiggling his eyebrows at you and you resisted the urge to grimace.
“i’ll go with you,” you exclaim, sick and tired of sitting on the bench.
“didn’t know [name] the sweetheart was such a perv,” suna raised a brow at you.
“excuse you?” you asked, confused.
“i’m going to change,” suna deadpanned, “if you wanted to watch i’d let you.”
you shook your head, at a loss for words for once in your life, “that was obviously not what i meant, but i’ve already had my hands on you, right?” you smile, recalling yesterday when you bombarded him with a hug acting like a girlfriend who missed her boyfriend very very much. your mind was then brought back to your cupcakes which were unapologetically ruined, you mourn your hours of hard work, “so what’s a little sight-seeing?” you continue to tease, standing up.
now you’ve made him speechless, he thought he could win? hah not as long as you still have your wits about you.
“nice to know you think i’m such a view, i’d assume you enjoyed yourself for the past few hours then?” suna started walking before you could retort, you were left to follow him with a small smile on your face due to amusement.
on your way to the lockers, you saw kageyama still practicing, he really could not catch a break, wasn’t practice over? meanwhile, atsumu was making grand gestures towards you and suna, and you wished you had something to throw at him. unfortunately for you and fortunate for him, you only brought your phone out with you today (you had no classes, okay, you initially planned to catch up on some reading today, ann liang’s this time it’s real—which was coincidentally about fake dating as well—was waiting for you at home).
“hey, what were you going to give me today?” you finally ask, you didn’t get to properly talk about it with him since he was busy training. you were leaning on the wall next to the entrance of their changing rooms, he was the only one in there so it was fine to act casual.
it took a minute or two before suna finally came out, duffel bag over his shoulder where the towel once was and cloth scrunched in his hands. said cloth was then tossed to you, you almost dropped it since your reflexes aren’t that quick.
“my extra jersey, wear it on the game this sat,” suna said casually as he watched you hold his jersey up, the number 7 plastered on it, the name suna on the back. how many times have you read and watched main characters in books and films cheer for their significant other while wearing their jerseys? now you are going to partake in that sports romance trope, how funny reality can be!
“oh is that all? what else do we do for today?” your head tilts to the side.
“i heard there’s an event in the campus grounds today, i was thinking we could go there since there would be a lot of people,” suna urged you to start walking and follow him with a simple nudge of his head.
“alright, i’ll warn you now though i didn’t bring any money,” you said with a skip in your step, still clutching the shirt since you don’t have anywhere to leave it in, “can you put this in your bag first, though?”
“who said you were paying?” he said casually while taking his jersey and placing it in his bag for a second.
you froze for a moment, “could you stop acting like a k-drama male lead?”
this made suna chuckle, he chuckled, you don’t think you’ve even seen the man smile, “you caught on quickly, huh? osamu’s been recommending me shows so that i could ‘learn by example’ whatever that means.”
right, you keep forgetting the suna is in the same friend group as atsumu and his brother, you know there’s this other guy in the group too named omiomi something? atsumu wouldn’t shut up about him. you’ve met osamu briefly before but you wouldn’t say that you were properly acquainted with him, you do see him a lot on campus because you get startled by how much him and atsumu look alike.
“i’m a matchmaker, im clearly well-versed in all forms of romantic media,” you say in a ‘duh’ tone.
“you can carry us then, acting romantic isn’t for me,” suna shrugged.
“no, you have to do your part,” you insist, as you step out of the gymnasium.
“what you want me to hold your hand or something?”
“that would be a good start,” you say, holding your hand out to him. he stares at it as if it’s some unknown species, and then he wordlessly extends his hand to intertwine with yours.

Everyone quickly starts working on the tents before the terrible cold of the desert makes them freeze. You were finishing helping Nami with the girls' tent while trying to ignore Sanji cursing you for stealing his chance and calling you a pervert.
“Thank you (y/n)-kun” Nami said, satisfied with the end result while Vivi was placing the necessary items so that they would have a makeshift bed.
You just nodded and went after the boys to see what they were doing with their tents. Sanji clearly had a stable tent although it was kind of small, you thought about asking but your theories about his perverted goals made you shudder so you just ignored him and went to the other group.
Usopp was busy trying to make a tent himself and he was determined to show that he knew how to set one up, but he didn't. Zoro was lying on a sheet on the sand and using his backpack as a pillow, while Luffy and Chopper seemed to be having fun listening to the stories of the captain's older brother, Ace. “Usopp, do you want help?” You asked, approaching everyone. Since you still had some energy it wouldn't hurt to help others before going to your own tent to sleep, after all you were the first to set up your shelter which consisted more of a roof and pillow cloths and a sheet, you weren't much demanding and thought it fair that the girls had more fabric to work with.
“Hm… no… I… I'm almost there” he said, too focused to look at you, trying hard to make the poles that were supposed to hold the tent upright… obviously without success.
“Zoro?” You decided to leave the shooter alone, either he would make it or he would give up. The experience of success or failure was worth it then it was no longer your business.
“I'm fine, it's not too cold,” he said calmly. You would doubt if a normal human was truly capable of withstanding that cold, but it was Zoro and you knew he didn't think like a normal human, so you just shrugged it off.
You approached the other three boys who seemed very excited even after a long day of travel. Ace was a good guy, he definitely cared about Luffy and he had been very kind to everyone when they found out that you were his beloved little brother's crew. What bothered you was that he looked at you in a kind of strange way, especially when you interacted with Luffy.
It made you a little nervous and paranoid, but it didn't make you treat him any differently.
“Do any of you need help in the tents before I go to sleep?” You offered everyone, as always being very helpful.
“Oh! No! I’ll stay with Usopp!” Chopper declared happily and looked at his companion, but upon seeing the situation in the tent he was a little… well he was definitely something but you still weren't very good at reading emotions in an animal. He just sighed, getting up from Luffy's lap "I better help him" the reindeer said as he went towards his friend.
“I’m fine, fire advantage” Ace smiled and you had to admit he had a good charm. To prove his point he lit his own hand with his flames and you almost felt envious of the natural heat he was able to provide.
“Okay, then I’m going to get some sleep” you said, yawning, already feeling the tiredness finally catching up with you. As you turned to walk away you felt something grab your wrist and turned to see Luffy with a huge upset pout and his stretchy hand reaching out to hold you back.
"And me?" He asked in such a hurt way that he looked like a puppy abandoned in the rain.
“Huh? What about you Luffy?” You asked a bit confused.
“Aren’t you going to ask where I’m going to sleep?” He said it as if it were his duty to do it, a kind of genuine obligation.
“Oh! I thought you were going to sleep with Ace…” you said confused looking at your older brother. Since it had been a while since they had seen each other and Ace produced heat, you figured the two would just sleep together like brothers usually do.
“I don’t want to sleep with Ace!” Luffy grumbled, letting go of you and crossing his arms, he seemed almost offended by his assumption. “He snores!”
"Hey!" Ace said in protest at the small offense.
“Okay… what do you want to do then?” You looked at the boy with amusement, Luffy was always a bit clingy towards you and little by little you learned to give in to all his requests.
"I want to sleep with you!" He declared with a big smile and with so much confidence that it made your cheeks heat up and you looked away in embarrassment.
“Okay…whatever you want captain” you said shyly and practically ran to your tent to avoid hearing whatever Ace might say about that interaction.
Soon you were lying in the sand under your tent and trying to calm your racing heart, why did Luffy have to be so cute?! It only made it worse that he didn't know the effect he had on you... what an unfair life. When you were almost falling asleep you felt his warmth on your back, he wrapped his rubber limbs around you a few times as he held you tight against him, almost as if he wanted to make sure you wouldn't leave. He moved a few times, adjusting himself and then placed his head on your back, starting to sleep soon after. You sighed, deciding to follow his actions as you yawned one last time and also let sleep overcome you.
Outside, Ace watched as his brother practically skipped over to his tent with a knowing smile on his face. He wasn't an idiot, he knew Luffy very well and had good experience with romance, he knew exactly what was going on between the two of you. The way you smiled at Luffy and seemed to always be around him, the way the boy was also clingy to you and always seemed like your validation… who would know that Ace's whiny little brother would grow up enough to fall in love.
“Huh… those two then?” He laughed knowing that Zoro was the only one who was still awake, it wouldn't hurt to know more about his brother's boyfriend, after all it had been a long time since they had seen each other and Ace wanted to know all the news.
"Actually no." Zoro said quickly turning around to face Ace, he still had his eyes closed but was definitely awake.
“Huh? How not? They are literally sleeping together!” The man said, confused.
"Put two idiots together who are incapable of understanding what it's like to be in love and you get these two" Zoro yawned in his seat but he had an amused smile. “They definitely feel something, everyone knows”
“Let me guess, everyone knows except them?” Ace laughed knowingly, that was just like Luffy.
"Bingo... (y/n) is a little smarter, but I think he just doesn't want to accept that he's in love with the captain himself" that was a good theory, you always showed a lot of respect for Luffy's position and maybe you didn't want to mix things up things.
“He… huh, has problems with men?” Ace didn't know exactly how to ask if you weren't out of the closet without seeming rude, wouldn't it be weird if you didn't want to confess because you didn't feel comfortable liking a boy. Although that seemed a bit unlikely with the way you acted around Luffy.
"No, he's always made it clear that men are his type... Luffy isn't exactly the type of person who cares about gender either." Zoro pondered "I think it's just... They maybe don't think it's really love, the way they are they should just think it's a good friendship and that's it"
“No, (y/n) knows she's in love with Luffy” the third voice was Sanji's who was outside his tent smoking. "He just won't confess because he thinks Luffy is like that with everyone."
Ace sighed feeling empathy for you, Luffy could be very dense and his friendly manner probably confused you. But he knew that his brother definitely loved you, loved you in a very romantic way even if maybe he didn't know exactly what that was or how to express it.
“Well, I worry less,” Ace yawned, adjusting his hat to cover his face. “Luffy will eventually understand that he is in love with him, when that happens he will confess and make his love clear… he just needs a little time” the man laughed. He could already imagine the scene, Luffy would probably be a great boyfriend if he was already extremely loving with you now, as an older brother he felt very happy knowing that his little brother was having his first love and that luckily it was still reciprocated. You would work out, you just needed time until your feelings became clear and you could finally accept and accept them.
Sanji had already retired again, leaving Zoro to be the only one awake, he lay on his back facing the starry desert sky. Yes... You two just needed time, everyone could see how much you both loved each other much more than friends and mainly cared about each other. It would definitely be very interesting to see this unfold, he was just glad that both of his friends were in love with good people who would take good care of them.
You stroked Luffy's black hair, he was lying with his head in your lap recovering after the difficult battle against Doflamingo. You were all at Kyros' house so that Law and Luffy could have more time to recover, soon you would leave for Zou and then for Wano, so all the time to recover was essential now.
The straw hat on your head cast a certain shadow on your eyes, you didn't want to fall asleep, too worried to take your eyes off Luffy. But it was obvious that tiredness was also taking its toll on you, after all you also participated in your own battles to help the entire city from collapsing, now all your body and mind wanted was a little rest.
“Hey! Bro, you should get some sleep, you look like a zombie” Franky laughed as he continued the repairs on his body, you laughed weakly believing his words.
“Don’t worry, this one won’t wake up anytime soon” Zoro said, assuring you that you could take some time for your own rest.
“Okay… wake me up in case anything happens” you yawned, leaning better against the wall and finally resting completely, the straw hat fell against your face giving you greater coverage. You couldn't feel it, but Luffy turned a little, laying on his side and using his elastic arms to wrap himself around you, holding you close to him.
“It seems I came to say goodbye at a bad time” Sabo smiled entering the house, he would really love to spend more time with Luffy to recover everything they lost, but the revolutionary army needed him and it was time to go back. "It seems like some things never change, Luffy was always sleeping as a child."
“This one just doesn't sleep more than he eats,” Zoro said, making the other members who were there laugh a little.
"That's good, I'm glad he's still like this..." he smiled nostalgically, a part of him was happy that Luffy had managed to recover after Ace. A guilt still lingered in his chest for not being there, but they would have plenty of time in the future to come together again.
The blonde boy was going to say something else before starting his final farewell, but that was when he stopped to pay a little more attention to his brother and the man who slept with him. Luffy's precious straw hat resided on the man's head while his brother was wrapped around him in the same way he was wrapped around Sabo and Ace as children. No, it wasn't the same way, there was something different. The smile on Luffy's face, the way he was snuggled up to the boy Sabo knew was called (y/n)... Oh, he knew what that was.
“So both?” Zoro's eyes widened in surprise, it seemed that the brothers were much more alike than he imagined. He smiled nostalgically thinking that Luffy's two brothers really care about him a lot, it seemed like a great déjà vu from that same night in Alabasta years ago.
“No, not yet” he laughed looking sideways at the two “But they are already better than before.” That wasn't a lie, now that you and Luffy were reunited you were much more open to his displays of love, probably due to being apart for so long. The only thing “missing” was a label, but it wasn’t like you and Luffy seemed to care about that.
“Ah, I see… Luffy is more dense in these things” Sabo smiled happily, looking at his brother so comfortable.
“I'm happy that it's reciprocated, for both of them... I'm sure they'll work out, they just need a little time.” He was sure of it, it was obvious how much you liked each other, a little time would be enough for the two of you to take on whatever was necessary and nothing else would come between you “Well, I need to go, thanks for looking after my little brother, I promise we’ll see you again soon.” Sabo turned to leave but was stopped when he heard Zoro's voice.
“Huh… Ace said the same thing” Sabo's heart stopped for a second. "Not just about taking care of Luffy... About the two of you, you two were pretty confident that with a little time they would work out..."
Sabo had to hold back his tears, taking a deep breath to keep his control. He said happily without looking back "Then that must be a good sign, big brothers are never wrong." That was the small blessing for his brother's future relationship, he knew it would work out, Luffy could be dense in romantic relationships but Sabo knew that the day he fell in love with someone and was reciprocated he would never let that person go.
Leaving the small house he faced the sunny day feeling the wind on his face, wiping his tears and ruffling his golden curls.
“Hey Ace… It looks like our little brother grew up huh?” he said excitedly looking up, could his brother see him now? “I'm glad you had the chance to see them too... (y/n) is a good guy, I'm sure he'll be good for Luffy” he smiled confidently, after all he had seen how you took care of your brother when he passed out after the battle. “Luffy will also be good for him… Ah… I wish you had the chance to be here to see them finally together” he bit his trembling lip, unable to stop himself from crying “But it's okay, I know you can see us there, so please take good care of them… Our little brother deserves to be happy.”
And inside that house Luffy was still hugging you tightly, you yourself were smiling with your hand in the boy's hair, patting him even though you were sleeping. You might not have admitted your feelings, but that didn't matter, you and Luffy both knew that you loved each other and that you would never let anything happen to each other. And everyone around you, especially those two proud older brothers, knew that nothing would stop you two from enjoying a beautiful romance.

[Platonic Headcanons]
c/w: suicidal thoughts and tendencies, angst, foul language, grief and loss
a/n: the trailer for modern warfare 3 was dropped and it’s due to release in November… obviously I had to do this <3 also.. totally not projecting my own feelings and struggles in here….. definitely not—
[Unedited]
• When you were younger you didn’t have much, your mother was absent your entire life after she had left you on your father’s doorstep after a one night stand and he didn’t have much before you were unceremoniously dumped into his life
• When he managed to bring himself to actually calm down he sat a moment to think things through, he wasn’t sure he was the father type and he wasn’t sure he could raise you properly— but he certainly tried
• And for you.. that was enough
• He did the best he could, you had no shame in admitting that, but in the eyes of an outsider it was never enough, he wasn’t making enough money for it to be enough.. now that you looked back on it there was only ever one thing you ever had to say about him—
“The bravest man I knew, he didn’t have a lot on his own.. had even less with me around but he made do. We made do. And he was more than enough for me.”
• He was murdered when you were sixteen, you remember in the trial regarding the case that it had something to do with being involved with the wrong people and those people had come to collect something he didn’t have
• His death tore you apart
• And because of it— you adopted a guarded and fiercely independent personality that made you seem cold to the outside world and the people surrounding you
• You joined up after that, with nothing to lose and a suffocating ache in your chest born of frustration and grief you had hoped this was you writing your death certificate and that the skeletal depicted, scythe wielding spirit would come for you sooner rather than later
• Driven to it by the desperation for a way out, anything to get rid of the searing ache in your chest, burning hot and angry like a smoldering fire that you didn’t see snuffing out anytime soon
• Only when you were gone from this world could you be freed from this pain, that’s how you saw it anyway, and that’s what you wanted… more than anything
• It was the loneliness of isolation that really drove you to your brink, you didn’t want to be alone… but you didn’t want to burden anyone with your issues that you couldn’t see resolving and you couldn’t bring yourself to believe you were deserving of it either— a vicious cycle
• After awhile with your team of marines you had gained the callsign; ‘Blue’ —for your rather glum outlook on life, and for the consistent and deep sadness you had that seemed to weigh so heavily upon you
• Things changed when you were put on a special ops team, having soared through your physical exams and grown to be a strong and capable individual it really came as no surprise your commanding officers sought to place you in a team that would strengthen and enrich your potential
• You struggled to find your place within the team at first, all of them having already been together long enough to form bonds stronger than anything, you felt like an outcast and maybe in the beginning you felt okay with that
• Because in the first months of your career within the team you still withheld any emotion other than indifference to a cold and bitter world that hadn’t done anything for you or in your favor
• So you didn’t make an effort to get close with any of them— not for lack of effort on their part, but for the self acknowledgment you had that you disregarded your life
• When Price had found out through Laswell that your mother was absent and your father passed three years ago he put the pieces together on why you outright refused to let yourself fall in line with them, input yourself into their tight knit family circle
• He learned that your father was your everything, how deeply you respected and admired him for everything he sacrificed for himself to give you more than what he had to offer, and everything made sense
• You didn’t want to involve yourself with them outside of work because you didn’t think your heart could handle any more loss of those close to you, but with the way you were going through life soullessly and reckless, he was sure you wouldn’t survive another damn day
• Another reason you didn’t want to get close to him and the rest of the team, because you didn’t plan to be alive for much longer
• And that bothered him, it twisted something in his chest and knotted up his stomach that someone so young couldn’t handle being alive anymore, didn’t want to stick around long enough to see just how much life had to offer if you opened yourself up to it
• It bothered him enough to corner you one night after a particularly harrowing mission in which you almost lost your life— he hated that you were irate you didn’t
• He didn’t want to force anything out of you that you weren’t ready to speak about, or make you uncomfortable in any way but he had to do this, else you’d deteriorate more and more until you were but a shell or worse— six feet in the ground (if you’d get lucky enough to be put in a coffin, but if he were to be honest and if he’d allow the reality to settle in his stomach you’d no doubt meet your inevitable end on the battlefield, another corpse at the feet of a government that didn’t care about you in the slightest)
• But he managed to get you to open up about it, managed to draw you out from within the thick and barbed barriers defending your broken and vulnerable heart and soul, and you wept everything to him, he just brought you in his arms and held you against his chest comfortingly and lovingly
• After that you had opened yourself up to the others too, and they were more than ready to accept your friendship and in the following months you had grown to love them and they you— you had fit well within their warmth and family
• In getting closer with them —Price most of all— you had developed a fiercely overprotective nature, refusing to let the world take them, take him who had shown you so much this life could offer to you, you wouldn’t lose Price or any of them like you lost your father
• It made you reckless with your life once more, only this time because you kept putting yours on the line for his sake, that made him angrier than when you were doing it just because you didn’t want to be alive anymore
• He shut that shit down real quick, and though you were certainly less inclined to be so quick to throw your life away, you didn’t quite quit being protective enough over your team to offer your life up instead of theirs
• Ghost hated to admit that you had quickly grown on him, past that prickly persona and cold indifference he had about him there was a hurt and broken shell of a man, a man named Simon that Ghost was built to protect and shelter
• You recognized the numb look in his eye, the fiercely guarded yearn for love from another— because you had been the exact same way, and you could easily see it through the barbed barriers he built around his broken and vulnerable heart
• It was easy for you to worm your way into said heart, because again— you knew that look, maybe you didn’t experience the same things but you both had been hurt by the world and the people within it enough to draw back into yourselves and construct a personality to protect the vulnerability you sheltered inside
• His was more aggressive sure.. but, that didn’t stop you from taking the initiative to chisel away at his thickly built concrete walls to access his center, the most tender part of him— Simon
• He was shocked by how quickly you managed to intricate yourself into his very short list of people he genuinely cares about, and maybe at first he fought it, fought how safe and comforted you made him feel, but after awhile he sort of just ran with it.. even grew to like it
• And you became the shoulder he could lean on, someone he could depend on you be there and have his back— he counted on you, and you were eager to show him he did not make a mistake in who he put his faith in
• And you hadn’t yet, missions were run a whole helluva lot easier now that you had fit yourself into their puzzle and connected yourself as an essential part of the well oiled machine their team turned out to be
• Gaz and Soap in their own ways had grown on you rather quick after Price managed to get you to let go of the suffering and pain you had weighing on your shoulders, and you surprised yourself by not really minding it
• They both were so unique in their own ways that made you fond of them, and they were both so eager to make you feel welcome and needed when you finally accepted the idea of family through bonds of blood and hardships
• You were an essential part of the team, they needed you just as you needed them.. and you’re really glad you had managed to find them when you needed it (not that you would ever say that to them, lest you wish to give Gaz and Soap egos the size of fucking Mars)
• Sometimes it was hard, there were some days that were tougher than others and some days where you wished you hadn’t woken up at all but your boys were always quick to help you through
• And you loved them more than anything, it took months after your first initial addition to the team for you to admit that to yourself— even longer to admit it to them.. but you did, well and truly loved them
• You would do anything for them, just as they would do anything and everything for you
• They couldn’t ever fill the ever prominent hole in your heart nor gaping pit in your soul but they overwhelmed your feelings of grief and sadness with home and warmth instead, so strong and comforting that you couldn’t even feel the lingering pain in your heart
• You’d go to Hell and back to protect that— go through anything and everything to protect your bond you shared with them
• Because they were worth it
a/n: this feels kinda meh and they’re short.. but, definitely expect to see Blue more often, and maybe some other characters (reader) I’ve got in mind hehe <3

Maybe If You Weren’t You
An angsty trolls fanfic that takes place when Poppy and Branch were in high school.
Desc: Poppy invites Branch to an “end of school year get together” to which he reluctantly decides to attend, unknowing that the events of the night would later reveal deep feelings, emotions, and secrets that leave them both in a painful situation.
Enjoy! :)
——————————————————
Branch woke up in a panic. His whole body trembling, heart racing, palms sweating, and gasping for air. His eyes darted around the room looking for any danger before he realized he just woke up from, yet another, bad nightmare. He clutched his chest and leaned up against the headboard of bed while he waited for his body to catch up with his mind. He closed his eyes, wishing he could just go back to the (partial and temporary) escape that is sleeping. He sucked in a shaky breath and got up to get ready for the day.
He put on his usual green vest and brown patched shorts and began washing his face. He stared into his gray face in the bathroom mirror for a while, studying himself. He was almost seventeen and still felt the same as he had as a young baby. This is hell. He thought to himself as he grabbed his cup of coffee off the coffee maker that had finally finished brewing. His snide thought was quickly proved wrong though as he heard a loud knocking coming from outside his bunker.
“Branch! Are you awake?” He heard a sickly sweet and familiar voice yell from outside while continuing to bang on his door. To Branch hell was actually just right outside the door and her name was Poppy. He groaned in annoyance and considered just ignoring her until she left until he remembered how that method had failed him countless times in the past. She was utterly relentless. He went up the elevator of his bunker and came out the trap door to be face to face with the pink troll.
“Poppy,” He said, sighing, “what are you doing here?” He asked wondering what she could possibly want from him this time.
“Me and the gang are having a little get-together party tonight at my place to celebrate the end of the school year and I wanted to invite you to come,” She explained happily.
He could never understand why she consistently asked him to come to things, why she talked to him at all really. Even after all the times he’d pushed her away from him she continued to treat him like a friend. Although he complained and would never admit it to anybody, he was grateful for Poppy. She was the closest thing to a real friend he had and even though she drove him insane most of the time he still cared about her, a lot.
Obviously he didn’t want to go to this “little get together party” with a bunch of people who only put up with him and acted polite out of pity. He especially didn’t want to deal with Creek, the total priss who constantly acted like he had ownership over Poppy even though they weren’t even an official couple. Creek also hated Branch.
He opened his mouth to respond to Poppy with a “no” before he could retreat back into his comfortable solitude but then he looked at her. She looked at him with such genuine eyes, something he had grown unfamiliar with. Most people didn’t really look at him but if they did their eyes were usually clouded with guilt, confusion, pity, annoyance, judgment, or fake generosity. Poppy was different though. She never made him feel like she was only talking to him because she felt bad for him or wanted to feel better about herself by doing the good deed of talking to the gray, damaged kid.
“Yeah, I’ll go,” he said, surprising himself with his words almost as much as he surprised her.
Her face lit up, “Really? Oh, that’s great! It’s gonna be at my place at 8 PM in the backyard, you don’t need to bring anything, we should mostly just be hanging out, dancing, eating, and doing regular party stuff. No need to dress up or anything, it's casual,” She seemed like she was almost going to explode with excitement just from him saying he would be there, “I’m so glad you’re going to come! It’s going to be really fun. We’re all so excited about the end of the school year and the start of summer and I thought ‘what better way to celebrate than with a party?’ so I planned the whole thing myself and I even made the invitations.”
She handed him a sparkly and decorated envelope that had obviously been carefully crafted by her skillful hands. On the front of it in pretty letters was his name surrounded by stickers.
“Thanks” He said flatly, taking it in his gray hands and feeling the glittered edges.
“Aren’t you going to open it?” She said rocking back on her heels and smiling.
“Seems kind of pointless now don’t you think? Usually people receive the invitation and then RSVP, not the other way around.”
“Mm maybe but I’m the Princess and I don’t really have to follow the rules.”
“I don’t think that’s how it works but if you want me to open your card then I will…your highness,” he said with a sarcastic bow.
“I do want you to,” she said with a smug look, getting close to his face, “go on.”
He rolled his eyes playfully, cursing himself for actually playing along with her. He opened the card that was just as decorated as the envelope only to be blasted in the face with glitter, typical. Poppy laughed at his annoyance as she turned to leave.
“Hey, thanks for that, Princess,” He said, wiping glitter off of his face.
“Anytime! I’ll see you tonight!” She yelled back, waving before turning on her heels and practically skipping away.
“Psh, stupid glitter,” He said to himself, smirking, looking at the card that he would be sure to store with the rest of them later.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Branch could hardly believe he was actually walking to Poppy’s house for a party. He considered turning back and not showing up but instead he pushed onward. Finally, he approached Poppy’s place where he could hear music playing from the backyard and he could see some lights. He drew in a shallow breath, suddenly feeling anxious. He felt his heart beating in his chest. He imagined how people would look at him. They always looked he could see their stares even though they thought they were being discreet. He heard them whispering even though they thought they were being quiet.
Nope. He thought to himself and turned around, walking back the way he came before he stopped himself, clenching his fists. He thought about Poppy that morning and how her face seemed to impossibly light up more when he told her he would be there. I’ll give it one hour.
He hesitantly stepped into the backyard where he saw the scene of many trolls he recognized but didn’t know. So much for “little get together” he thought silently cursing the troll princess for suckering him into being there. Branch was right, people stared, people whispered, he saw, and he heard.
Is that Branch?
What is he doing here?
Why does Poppy even invite him anymore?
Surprising that he actually showed up.
He wrapped his arms around his body and pushed through the crowd. He felt fuzzy like he was floating. His heart felt tight and was beating hard against his chest. His breathing felt ragged. His eyes darted around the crowd trying to find the only face that could bring him some kind of relief in this moment. Finally, his eyes landed on her. She was laughing with her usual friend group obviously telling some sort of funny story. He felt himself relax a little as he moved closer to where she was standing. She looked up and made eye contact with him and she smiled.
“Branch! You made it!” Poppy exclaimed, waving him over.
“Hey guys,” He said, giving a small wave to the group who politely murmured greetings to him.
“Oh my god, I have to tell you about what just happened. We went to grab some snacks when-” She spoke quickly and exaggerated before she was cut off by a voice that Branch was less than excited to hear.
“Poppy, hey, I’ve been looking all over for you,” Said Creek. He wrapped his arm around Poppy and gave Branch a quick, yet snide, glance.
“Oh, uh, I’ve just been over here talking to my friends,” She said. Branch noticed her demeanor shift in a way he couldn’t seem to understand.
“Branch,” Creek said looking at him, “nice to see you actually show up. I really had my doubts.”
“Wouldn’t miss this for anything,” Branch replied coldly. He felt like his whole body was on fire with agitation. He hated Creek. He hated his stupid hair, stupid attitude, stupid arm around Poppy’s shoulder.
“That’s nice. Well I have a few people I need to go talk to. We’ll catch up later, eh?” Creek said with a fake grin before he pulled Poppy away with him.
Branch was now alone again. Super. He wandered around the party aimlessly, walking through groups of people. His eyes landed on a long table stocked with snacks and drinks and he grabbed a cup filled with punch. He turned around only to be met with somebody slamming into him causing him to drop the cup on the ground. He didn’t see who it was but he could hear the snickering.
He knew that wasn’t just a simple mistake, simple mistakes are met with simple apologies. Coming here at all was a mistake. He couldn’t believe that he thought maybe there was a chance he could actually have fun at a party like this. He felt his face get hot with embarrassment. He could cry from the frustration. He had to get out of sight.
He looked to his left where the back door to Poppy’s house was and without hesitation he went in, stepping into the kitchen. It was dark in the house, obviously not set up for the outdoor party. He wondered if it was weird for him to be in there but at the moment he didn’t really care. He leaned against the wall next to the door and tried to even out his breathing. Why was this so hard for him?
He just wanted to go home but he knew he wouldn’t feel right leaving without saying goodbye to Poppy and he definitely wasn’t ready to go back out into that crowd to try and find her. The sound of the back door opening loudly startled him. He was even more surprised to see a slightly distressed looking Poppy standing there. She looked startled by him for a moment before she looked at him with a confused expression.
“Branch? What are you doing in here? Party’s outside,” She said, stepping toward him.
“Sorry, I just…I needed a minute,” He said, realizing how insane he probably seemed, just standing there in her kitchen uninvited.
“I hear you there,” she replied, heaving out a big sigh as she leaned against the wall next to him. He looked over at her and saw an expression cross her face that he didn’t really recognize from her. She looked…upset, sad. He immediately grew concerned.
“You okay?’ He asked gently.
She hesitated for a minute, thoughtfully choosing her answer before she said, “not really.” She crossed her arms across her chest.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” Branch asked, feeling out of place. He wasn’t familiar with the whole comforting thing.
It was to his surprise she started with, “I don’t know, it's just, a lot. Being the Princess and all is great. I love my people and I love getting to take care of them but the pressure to be amazing and not let anyone down is overwhelming. I just keep thinking about how every year is another step closer to the day I’ll have to take over for my dad and be queen. I don’t want to mess it up.”
Branch listened intently, hanging on to every word and carefully considering each of them. He wouldn’t have even guessed that she’d been feeling so stressed considering how she presented herself to everyone around her. She always seemed to be confident and put together. He let the silence between them stretch out for a moment, it wasn’t an uncomfortable silence that seemed to desperately need to be broken. It was just simply, silence between two friends (if that) who were struggling on their own paths.
Finally after a long moment he spoke, his voice low, “You’re going to do amazing, Poppy. You already are.”
She blew air out of her nose, laughing sarcastically, “I don’t feel like I am. Most of the time I feel like I’m performing. I even started doing it around the people I love the most. I feel like I’m always trying to seem perfect and happy with everything I do even if it’s something I don’t want to do. I have no control. School, friendships, work, helping my dad lead the village, even my relationships-”
She says that last word bitterly before she stops talking abruptly, like she said something she shouldn’t have.
“Don’t tell anyone about that, please,” She says, he looks over to her seeing a kind of pained look on her face, “I don’t even know why I said it.”
“It’s okay, I understand why you would,” Branch says, thinking about the conceited, backhanded, and not to mention selfish troll.
He replayed the moment from earlier in his head. The way she seemed to tense up when he was around, the way she shut down and went along with him, the way he shuttled her around like she was some sort of trophy he had to be constantly showing off. She seemed happy with him, her dad loved him that was clear, everybody loved Creek.
“Everybody loves him,” Poppy said quietly, seeming hesitant to keep opening up to him.
He listens, soaking it all in, hoping she’ll say more, realizing with surprise how badly he hopes she says more. His silence and attention seem to intrigue her, he suddenly wonders how often she was able to speak like this, completely open and vulnerable. Weakest parts exposed. He wondered how long she’d been waiting to unleash these feelings out into existence.
He guesses it had been painfully long based on how she lets her next words pour out into the quiet, dark, and empty kitchen, “Having your whole future built around what other people are expecting from you is nauseating. I just wish that I had the freedom to do what I wanted without worrying about how it’s going to look. I feel stuck. At the end of the day everybody is watching my every move. They look to me for guidance, for advice, to admire who’s representing them. I have to present myself in a way that makes everyone happy. My dad seems to have most of my future figured out for me already. Sometimes I just wish I could make a decision for myself that isn’t based on what’s going to make people happy. Not my dad, not my friends, not my people. Just me.”
She paces slightly around the room as she speaks, her heart emptying out into the space until she’s let all of it go. Branch stands there considering what she’s said and feeling shocked. He never would’ve expected that by coming to this party he’d somehow unlock the door to the deepest, hidden depths of the heart of Princess Poppy. Now that he had this part of heart he would do anything not to lose it.
Poppy was the one troll who had always been kind to him. Not just kind in the way that people are out of politeness but genuinely kind. Poppy, the troll who seemed to have it all together and be self-assured. Poppy, the only troll who genuinely seemed to care about him even though the thought of that made him push her away in an attempt to self-protect. In this moment, though, the last thing he wanted was to push her away. All he wanted was to get closer.
He loved all of the parts of her and that terrified him. Even though the fear of exposing a little bit of his own heart to her seemed overpowering he pushed through it.
“Your happiness is just as important as anybody else’s, Poppy,” He said, she turned to face him, listening to what he had to say.
The two of them couldn't have been more than two feet apart, “it isn’t your job to take care of everyone else’s happiness. Doing everything perfect isn’t what’s important, it’s what you do when something goes wrong that really matters. You don’t have to pretend to be someone you aren’t to get them to like you, it’s your life. You deserve to be happy,” he gave her a small smile. “Everybody is going to love the real Poppy. The Poppy I’m talking to right now.”
He waits for her response, she shifts on her feet, her eyes study his face thoughtfully, thinking hard about what he said.
“You really think that they’re still going to love me when I’m a mess?” She gestured toward herself, “When I’m not everything they thought and expected I would be? When I screw it up and don’t get it right? ”
“I know they will. You’re more than what they’re expecting. They’re going to respect and love you. Their brave, passionate, genuine leader.”
“How do you know?”
“Because I love you.”
He feels his breath catch. Suddenly regretting what he said, wondering if maybe he’d said too much.
“You deserve to be happy too, Branch,” She says, further closing the gap between them. Surprising him.
“What?” He says, caught off guard.
“Earlier you said I deserve to be happy. I just thought you should know that you deserve it too.”
“Oh,” he looks down at his hands before he looks back up into her eyes, her captivating, caring eyes, “thank you.”
“Thank you,” she says looking at him with a grateful expression, “I needed to hear that.”
“Anytime you need to hear it again, you know where to find me.”
Their eyes stay trained on each other, getting lost in each other for a minute. Branch suddenly realized just how close they were standing to each other. Her face was just inches away from his. Poppy looks at him in a way that makes his heart race and before he can even comprehend what’s happening she steps toward, closing the small gap between them. Her lips press against his as her arms wrap around his neck. She pressed her body into him, his back pressed against the wall.
Her lips are soft against his and he lets his hands fall on her waist, pulling her closer to him. He didn’t know how badly he had wanted this and now that he had it he didn’t want to lose it. She pulled away and he could feel her shaky, soft breath on his lips.
Just as suddenly as the whole thing had happened the back door swung open, letting light into the dark kitchen. She jumped back away from him, startled.
“Poppy? Poppy, what are you doing in here?” Creek says, stepping into the house, his eyes landing on her, “I’ve been looking for you.”
“I just, uh, I was grabbing some napkins, I didn’t put any out there earlier,” she stumbles, grabbing a stack of napkins off the small kitchen table.
Creek stands with an unreadable expression before his eyes move on to Branch who is still standing off to the side. Creek narrows in on him and looks from Branch to Poppy and back at him again.
“What the hell is he doing in here?” He says gesturing aggressively towards him, “Following you around like some lost puppy? Why do you let him bother you?”
Branch opens and closes his mouth, not knowing what to say to him. Feeling furious for how weak and small he probably seemed. He hated it.
“Creek, stop, he isn’t bothering me. He’s my friend,” She tried to reason with him.
“Whatever, let’s go back to the party,” He walked over to where she was standing and grabbed her hand, pulling her to the door.
“Yea, okay,” she catches Branch’s eye once more before she leaves, looking bewildered, conflicted, and in shock.
He thinks maybe she just realized the weight of what she had done. She had kissed Branch. Princess Poppy had kissed Branch but Princess Poppy could never be anything with Branch. Branch felt a wave of nausea hit him like a bus. He felt like the dark kitchen was spinning around him.
He’d realized that he might’ve ruined the best thing he had. The best thing in his sad, miserable, lonely life was Poppy. He was going to lose yet another person who actually cared about him and it was his fault.
He felt his breathing get ragged and short. He ripped the door open urgently and started to run. He didn’t stop running until he was back in his bunker where he dropped to the ground against the wall, hyperventilating. He wished more than anything that he could be anybody else. Someone that she could love. Someone that could be good to her and be everything that she deserves. He wasn’t that person. He was never going to be. He was too broken, too damaged.
He sat there like that with his head buried into his arms until his body calmed down. He crawled his way to bed just wanting to fall asleep, he did. For the first time in months he slept. Really slept. He didn’t dream or wake up in the middle of night panting and sweating. He slept until he was woken up by a loud banging outside.
He stirred awake, rubbing his eyes, feeling heavy. He replayed the night before in his mind, feeling his heart sink at the recollection. The banging outside continued. Who could possibly be outside his door this early in the morning? His question was answered just as quickly as it was thought when he heard an all too familiar voice.
“Branch, are you in there?”
Poppy.
Her voice sounded small, almost weak. Branch felt sick. After a minute of debating whether he should talk to her or just lay in bed he went up the elevator reluctantly to meet her face to face. He opened the door to see her standing right in front of him just as she had the morning before but differently. He noticed her puffy and tired eyes, it seemed like she had been crying. She had her arms wrapped around herself.
When she spoke her voice wavered slightly, threatening to break at any moment, “Hey.”
“Hi,” He crossed his arms, shifting on his feet.
“About yesterday. I…” She looked off to the side, for the first time since knowing her Branch was seeing Poppy completely at a loss for words.
“It’s okay, Poppy,” He said, she looked up at him, “I understand. What happened yesterday was stupid and impulsive and it can never happen again. I get it. It’s okay.”
She stared at him, lips parted slightly, her expression was clouded, “Branch, it’s not okay.”
“It is, really, I get it. Just look at us,” He gestured to her and then to himself.
She was quiet for a while before she said quietly, “I’m sorry,” she looked like she was about to cry.
“Don’t be. It isn’t your fault.”
“But it is, Branch, I shouldn’t have done that. I wasn’t thinking. I’m an idiot and now I’m hurting you and that’s the last thing I ever wanted to do,” she’s crying now, big, heaving sobs. Branch had never seen Poppy cry before, he hates it more than anything.
“Poppy…” Branch hates this, he wished desperately that he could be what she needed, that she wouldn’t have to feel like this because of him.
“I’m so sorry, Branch. I care about you so much and I wish it could be different but it just can’t. Maybe if I wasn’t me and you weren’t you it wouldn’t have to be like this,” she was getting hysterical. With every sob Branch’s heart ached more.
He didn’t want her to hurt like this, he hated what this was doing to her. He blamed himself for it. He wished things could be different too but he knew better than anyone that they couldn’t, he’d learned that lesson a long time ago. Things would always be this way.
Anybody Branch loved, he would break, and he would end up alone.
For now, all he wanted to do was make sure she didn’t have to hurt like him. He wanted her to be happy, he loved her. He loved her so much that he was going to let her go.
He wrapped her in his arms and held her, “It’s okay, Poppy, it’s okay,” he spoke softly, stroking the back of her head while she sobbed into him, accepting the comforting embrace and grabbing on to him.
Every bone in his body ached with hurt. He held her for a long time until her sobs began to quiet and her breathing began to slow. She pulled herself off of him and wiped her face with the back of her hand. The two of them looked at each other for a moment.
“Thanks, Branch,” She said, taking a deep breath.
“Anytime, and anytime you need me, you know where to find me,” he said, reinforcing his words from yesterday.
“I know,” she said, smiling softly. It hurt. It hurt a lot. He knew that it would always hurt but seeing her smile again made it worth it to him.
“And for the record, anytime you need me, I’m here too. As your royal leader and, of course, as your friend,” she added, playful yet serious.
“I know,” he said, it all hurt.
They stood there for a moment just letting the silence stretch out into the morning air.
“Goodbye, Branch,” she finally said, “I’ll see you later, okay?”
“Yeah, later,” he said, giving her a weak smile.
She seemed hesitant to leave. She kept her eyes on him for a long moment while he stared down at his feet, unable to watch her walk away. When he finally looked up again she was gone and with her she took a piece of Branch’s heart. A part that he never intended to lose, he’d already lost so many pieces of his heart, leaving it shattered and messy. He made a silent promise that he would never let himself make that mistake again.
If you made it to the end, thank you for reading! :) Hope you enjoyed <3
Why I love TDM so much
I love The Darkest Minds so fucking much. It's about found family. It's about trust and friendship. AND IT CREATES SOME OF THE BEST CHARACTERS I'VE EVER READ.
So obviously the setting. I like how much effort Alexandra Bracken puts into designing a world that I could definately foresee myself in a couple of years, especially with the rise of GMO food (agent ambrosia) and how it dives deeper into corruption and how a government works being that it never truly will care about it's people unlike many other dystopians I've read. I hated Shatter me (sue me, sure.) despite how similar it is to TDM because I didn't get a strong grasp of character and setting and it was mostly romance rather than an exploration of setting and our world.
Moving forward I LOVE THE CHARACTERS! They're realistic and lovable and flaw...ful? Whatever. The characters have a realistic representation of trauma in all its forms, and many of the characters have real feelings and you can really understand and love them. In many YA books I feel like the main hero doesn't really have much personality, but seeing the world from Ruby's eyes is a breath of fresh air. She's not bratty, but she's not perfect either which are the two swings in YA. She constantly feels guilt, and feels real just like if you and I were in the book together, we'd understand what Ruby is going through. And Liam who on the surface is the perfect dude but really, he's trying to deal with his trauma and guilt while simultaneously trying to keep an unhealthy, perfect facade to keep the rest of the group motivated. He has to live with the guilt of Caledonia and Cole as well as the childrens league and he learns to stop putting out a facade and just truly process his emotions. And Chubsie? My stubborn arrogant loveable grumpy bean. He's stuck with Zu and Liam for ages and now theres a total newcomer who may or may not be a threat. How would he feel? He learns to adapt and becomes bestiessss with Ruby which is extremely wholesome. And Zu. She's so sassy, and amazing, and a queen and yet she's also dealing with trauma by voluntarily going into silence because she doesn't have words to deal with her pain. She learns to speak up and become a force for good. I'd go into Vida, but I don't think I have enough time.
I love the found family. The different groups which become like family to each other. The Original Black Betty gang consisting of liam, ruby, chubs and zu. The never fade childrens league gang which consists of nico vida ruby and jude and maybe cole. And the final new black betty gang which basically pulls Vida into the family. the beyond the night gang with sam, mia and lucas. The darkest legacy gang with priya roman zu max and mayyyyyyybe even lana if she recovers. They are all family and as ruby states family is not the place but the people you are with and these characters make each other comfortable and happy and together and just adopt random children along the way in the case of the darkest legacy gang. Lets call them the psion ring gang. I just love the found family thing that this book series creates for us.
Obviously you’re not Isayama so you can’t answer this 100% however, I am curious what you think the reasoning for his decision to never consider writing Levi as commander. It was Hange then Armin, Levi in my honest opinion would have made an exceptional commander as well (though I know he wouldn’t have wanted it). Maybe I answered my own question but nonetheless, what do you think?
I did talk about this once before, and if I ever find the post, I'll add it to this, haha.
Levi would and DID make an excellent commander, I agree. It was really Levi's leadership that allowed the alliance to win the final battle against Eren. Without Levi there to take over when Armin was taken out of commission, they would have all died.
But to answer your question, I think the reason Erwin didn't make Levi commander is because he knew it would have been almost impossible for Levi to consistently make calls that required him to sacrifice lives. We have to remember, Levi's first and greatest instinct is to protect people, to guard them and save them, whenever he can. I think Levi had to work extremely hard to press down that instinct in any given situation, and it weighs heavily on him whenever he has to do so. Like, for example, during the Female Titan arc, it's obvious Levi was extremely bothered by having to ignore all the soldiers behind he and his squad that were being slaughtered by Annie. He had to, in order for Erwin's plan to work, but it was hard for him, and that's why Levi kind of snaps at Erwin later for trying to thank him for his efforts, and tells him he should be thanking the soldiers that gave their lives, instead. It's also, I think, why Levi makes the threats he does to Annie to get her to come out of her titan, because he's upset about the soldiers that died in order to capture her, and upset that he couldn't save them. He sort of loses control of his emotions in that moment and makes a bit of a miscalculation as a result.
People always talk about Levi being this emotionless character, but it's the exact opposite. He's actually the most emotional character in AoT. He cares more than anyone, and feels the loss of each soldier more keenly than anyone.
We see this at various points throughout the story, just how deeply affected he is by the loss of life. It's why Levi works himself to exhaustion in Shinganshina trying to protect the new recruits, and why he orders them not to die. It's why he does the same in Liberio, ordering his soldiers not to die. It's why he says he's sorry to the soldiers in Shinganshina, when they're riding toward their death.
Levi can and will make decisions that cost lives if he thinks it's going to save more lives, but doing so goes against his very nature, to a deeper degree and level than anyone else. I think it's totally antithetical to who Levi is as a person, to have to stand by and let people die without trying to protect them with everything he has.
If he had been made commander, he would have had to engage in that sort of thing over and over, and I think Erwin knew Levi couldn't have handled that. And I think Hange knew it too, when she made Armin commander near the end. They both understood that Levi cares too much, and values life too much, and at some point, that would have interfered with his ability to properly lead. Levi is someone who's very much lead by his heart, more than his head. He's very emotionally driven. The decisions he makes are based in what he feels is the right thing to do, the morally correct thing to do, more than any sort of cold logic or efficiency. It's why I get annoyed, too, when people say Levi was willing to "compromise" his morals for Erwin. No, he wasn't. Levi never compromised his morals. He always did what he felt was right, even if he didn't know what the outcome or result would be. That's what his entire philosophy of "no regrets" is based on. Doing what he feels, in his heart, is the right thing, and not regretting it, even if the outcome is different than what he hoped for.
I think Erwin and Hange both passed over Levi to become commander because they knew, no matter what, Levi wasn't ever going to compromise what he felt was right, no matter the cause. They knew he wasn't capable of it, in the end. And they knew it would also be horrifically destructive to a person like Levi, to be placed in a position where he was expected to treat the lives of people more as tools than human beings. Levi couldn't do that. We see that plainly demonstrated in his inability to drag Erwin back to life. Levi wasn't able to set aside what he felt was right, even as, objectively, it seemed like the best and most logical choice to go against that feeling. Like I said, Levi acts with his heart more than his head. And a good commander, an efficient commander, an effective commander, can't do that. There needs to be a certain level of detachment.
Levi's never been able to be detached. He's never been able to divorce himself from the deep compassion and empathy he feels for people. He feels it even for people he doesn't really know, and isn't close to.
Basically, the simple answer is, Levi cares too much about people's lives to be a really great commander. He wouldn't be able to handle that job without slipping up eventually.
For the ask meme: 🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
Love your Chilaios fics!
-sanityhasforsakenme
!!! Hi hi! I'm glad you like them, i really enjoy writing them and being a part of the fandom! :D
On the grounds of chilaios, i can do some for chil and laios:
Chilchuck
He has become so accustomed to being on edge while working in the dungeon, that he dreams about scenarios in his sleep, even when safely in his own bed on the surface. He is a worrier, and his worries follow him especially when there isn't anything else to keep him occupied. Taking too much responsibility for his party is both his love language and a sign of his learned distrust for others. Anime spoilers about Chil's life: It gets worse when his girls grow up and he doesn't have being a father to distract him. Immersing himself in his guild work is so involved with his dungeon delving that he gets even more lost in it, the distrust seeping from work to home until he doesn't even realize he has begun to drown in it.
Laios
While he is more careful not to share his special interests as much at first, having a small, consistent group of people who have not abandoned him even when he says something that is a social faux pas has improved his self-esteem. I feel like this gets even clearer when the canon events happen because it is the first time he has been with a group without Falin to carry the weight of smoothing social situations over for him. This really makes him more comfortable sharing his lore, and he ends up writing his own book(s) about the monsters from the dungeon, like a revised edition of the Gourmet Guide and then going more in-depth with it. He does all the art himself too.
Chilaios
What initially interested me in the ship was the open communication they had with each other, and their similar tactical mindsets focused on the dungeon itself. I feel as though they have a strong trust in each other, as strong as Chilchuck more obviously, Laios less obviously, CAN trust anyone. Regardless of the shipping potential, there is a strong love and loyalty between those two, carefully buried through Laios' social struggles and Chilchuck's preference to be perceived as socially aloof. ALL THAT SAID, headcanon is that when Chilchuck is feeling more social with Laios, he brings up different scenarios for Laios to visualize and parse through, both tactical and social ones. I think that Chilchuck is used to self-reflection and preparation by imagining hypotheticals, and it is an activity he can do with Laios that they both benefit and bond from. Additionally, Laios being able to map out solutions sometimes cuts through what Chilchuck gets spun up about, getting Chil out of his own head. Their passions both lie with their work, and they learn a lot from each other through this kind of analysis and planning. Shipping-brained, they both are touch-starved and unaware of how desperate they are for a deeper connection with each other, emotions totally blindsiding them when they realize the depths of their feelings. Two pretty logical guys having huge emotions who don't comprehend what they share and how it should look. They find the physical aspects easier than the emotional ones, and settle into a friends-with-benefits relationship before a romantic one.
Ty for your message! Ask Game from here.
what did serina think of goro can you explain their relationship
Gorou and Sarina's relationship is interesting because it's kind of deceptively simple while being unintentionally complicated by the mountains of baggage they were both unintentionally bringing to things. Sarina -> Gorou is pretty straightforward though; as the one person who was by her side when she had nobody else in the world, he was her light and she obviously adored him. DeviousChair on the OnK subreddit also made a really good point a while back that we know that Sarina had issues with memory loss as her tumor progressed and so past a certain point, her strongest and most immediate memories would have been of Gorou caring for her. This does a lot to inform why she latched onto him and Ai with the intensity that she did, imo; past a certain point they were basically the only consistent comforting presences in her life.
The Ichibanboshi no Spica novel was a bit of a miss for me for various reasons but something it did (however accidentally) that I really liked was emphasizing the way that Gorou was basically everything and everyone to her from her POV, just out of emotional necessity: at various points across the story she compares him to a friend, an older brother, her parents (by contrasting him against them) and, of course, as her crush. I think this confused muddying of feelings and not knowing exactly what to make of their relationship rings really true and makes a lot of sense because like... how do you define a relationship like that? Especially since he wasn't her actual doctor, he was just the emotional support middle aged guy who would hang out with her and have nerdy chats LOL. Sarina had nobody so Gorou had to be her everybody.
That said, while this connection is sweet there's also an unfortunate but tbh inevitable angle of codependency as well. Since Gorou is her everything, if he's gone then she has nothing. Spica touches on this briefly but we see it most clearly in Ruby at the end of the Private arc and going into Mainstay. Even in a life where all of her dreams have come true, where she has a caring and present family and a robust support system of people who love her, she has so many hopes and so much of her emotional well-being riding on the *idea* of Gorou that being faced with a permanent separation from him contributes to a mental health spiral so catastrophic that only Gorou himself seemingly returning to her can hit pause on it.
It probably goes without saying, but this is an insanely unhealthy level of attachment to have to someone! Obviously, everything to do with Aqua and Ruby's mental health is complicated by their unique circumstances and their losing Ai at such a young age but again: this is Ruby 16+ years out from last seeing him, who has grown up surrounded by people who love and support her and her mental wellbeing is still this dependent on the idea of Gorou and she's still convincing herself that she can have her end goal of being in a relationship with him.
@aquahater made a really excellent post touching on this angle of Ruby's clinging onto the idea of Gorou, characterizing it (imo, correctly) as Ruby basically just wanting to live her life as 'Sarina 2.0' and rejecting any changes or emotionally inconvenient truths that could prevent that from happening. It's totally understandable why she would want this and I can't even say I blame her for it... but she does need to accept that it isn't going to work out the way she so obviously hopes it is.
One of the worst things about the ending of Naruto was actually that Naruto became Hokage. He became Hokage to be recognized and seen for who he was by the people around him, but he already got that during the Pain Arc.
We see at the Waterfall of Truth that Naruto actually feels contempt toward many villagers for how they treated them. But we never got a full resolution for that in the real world. For the sake of consistent writing Naruto should have much more complicated emotions, hell being the Hokage was totally secondary to bringing Sasuke home (which Naruto says during the beginning of Shippuden).
So, it would’ve been far more interesting and consistent for nobody to become Hokage at the end of Naruto (it’s not like Kakashi actually wanted to be Hokage either). The leaf is ran by a Jonin council who undertake the building of a new world under the guidance of people like Kakashi and Naruto (but it’s mostly a collective effort).
Naruto and Sasuke would’ve become Jonin, Naruto would’ve grown out his hair to be like Jiraiya (not that long, just a shoulder length ponytail, but he will not be fucking balding). The running of the leaf village becomes more and more of a transparent affair that even everyday people are aware of, not the shadowy cabal that it was under Hiruzen’s regime. The main threat would be loyalists toward Madara’s ideology who really believed in the Infinite Tsukuyomi (not space aliens). The Konoha 13 aren’t forced into undeveloped ridiculous ships for the sake of editors or trying to pump out a next Gen sequel (like Seriously, none of the Shinobi from the previous Gen had kids except Asuma & Kurenai). Hell I think it’s bullshit Neji died so let’s just redact that too. Sasuke obviously doesn’t do jail time like he did because if saving the entire planet isn’t a pardonable action idk what is, rip to those samurai tho.
The government of the leaf village, which before was essentially just an elective millitary dictatorship, slowly becomes more democratic and resembling an actual pseudo nation as opposed to a millitary colony. The feudal lords are slowly rendered irrelevant and basically atrophy into powerless figureheads (and any who resist probably become villains in whatever story gets told in this scenario). Underage Shinobi are banned from undertaking life threatening missions, that’s gotta be a big one. No kids fighting to the death.
So by the time Naruto is in his late 20s to early 30s he’s made Hokage by the people of the village hidden in the leaves in the very first actual election ever held that wasn’t just between feudal lords and councilors (if he even wants the position that is). His scalp is fine, he’s thriving and moisturized, Orochimaru and Kabuto are locked away at the bottom of the craziest prison you can imagine. He’s not stuck in a boring marriage that he avoids, Sasuke isn’t stuck in a loveless marriage with a woman he won’t even kiss. Sakura is girlbossing somewhere in the corner. Tsunade gets to have all the chicken breast and alcohol she wants and Kakashi is a retired dog dad.
learning to take care of yourself
introduction
there’s so many things about ourselves that we don’t know. nutrition, how our bodies work, our minds. a lot of times we might not understand why problems are occuring in our health, whether it’s mental or physical. on a less serious note we not might know how to take care of our hair, our skin.
i know that i have very little understanding of nutrition and psychology, so i want to learn. i want to know why my body does the things it does. this happened when i had a really horrible hormonal issue that left me with periods that straight up didn’t end. instead of getting an explanation why my doctor just put me on birth control for months. recently i decided to get off of it, and now i want to learn how to be healthy, mentally and physically, which starts with having an understanding of those topics.
health
there’s obviously so much to health. nutrition, taking care of our muscles, so much to learn. our physical health has some correlations to our mental health, and the food we eat can affect our hormones. on top of that, we need to take care of our bodies for when we’re old. we need to take care of ourselves because this is the body we’re stuck with for our lifetime.
reading about nutrition. the first step is understanding nutrition. why it’s important to eat healthy, and what our bodies actually need in order to feel the best they can. additionally, if you have any skin conditions it could be tied to your diet, same with hormonal imbalances.
not giving in to diet culture. i think it’s important to educate ourselves so we don’t go into fad diets that are negative for our health and don’t provide good results.
finding balance in our diets
learning about the benefits of exercise/stretching. again, it’s important to know why you’re doing what you’re doing. when you know why it’s beneficial for you then you’re more likely to stay consistent.
mental health
when it comes to mental health i think it’s beneficial to learn about psychology. not saying you need to know everything about it and be a total expert, but it’s good to know why our brain does the things it does, and how we can manage our emotions.
reading psychology books.
reflecting on our thoughts.
mental diet. a mental diet is just watching what content you consume, and how much of it. too much time on social media IS bad for you, so it’s important to manage how much you’re using the internet, and what you’re using it for
understand WHY. understand why meditating is important. why journalling and reflection are. when you know the why behind your actions then you’ll know why they’re so important and be more likely to stay consistent.
beauty
when it comes to beauty i think it’s important to embrace our natural beauty and highlight our best qualities. when we take care of our physical health and have good personalities, there IS a big difference. our diets affect our skin, our hair growth, our teeth, so many things. so when we take care of that, then we’re able to look and feel better, which is visual.
knowing your skintype & what’s best for it. find products that take care of your individual needs.
knowing your hairtype & what’s best for it. same with skin
finding a style you like. discover what you enjoy wearing, and don’t dress for other people. it’s a gradual process but expressing yourself through style feels great.
prioritizing health over short term things. the main thing is always to think about longevity instead of short term gratification. nourish your body, stay active, take care of your health & you will look better. don’t rush to do things just for instant gratification.
conclusion
when we understand the workings of our body and mind then we can be able to grow, knowing how to meet our individual needs. self improvement isn’t always a one size fits all- it’s about doing the things that keep you your healthiest and happiest. :)
The Umbrella Academy Character’s Best Seasons
Luther- Season 3 : He was at his most lovable this season, and honestly playing that aspect of his character up is one of the best choices this show made. In seasons 1 he made some SUPER dicey decisions which made me hate him lowkey, and in season 2 I liked him a lot better but there was still the whole Allison thing which I hated. By season 3 he had totally improved and moved on (thank god).
Diego- Season 3: Similar to Luther, Diego just got more and more delightful as the seasons went on. I actually really liked Diego in every season, but watching his relationships in season 3 was really what makes me think this is his peak (so far).
Allison- EASILY Season 2: This one is fairly self explanatory. Season 3 Allison had some questionable morals and did some bad shit, and season 1 referenced more bad shit (not to mention the Luther thing). But season 2?? She was a girlboss, she was badass, she was lovable, she was a great sibling and wife, and she was doing a lot of self improvement resulting in a great character arc.
Klaus- Season 1 or Season 3: Let’s be honest here, every season is Klaus’ best season- I mean he started a cult in season 2 for gods sake. The reason I single out season 1 is largely because of Klaus’ tragic storyline and Robert Sheehan’s powerful performance bringing it to life (seriously, he has incredible range and gave some heartbreaking emotional scenes). As for season 3, I found that this season had some great moments with Klaus because it explored his powers more. Either way Klaus is always a highlight of the show, I just had a difficult time choosing between season 1 and 3.
Five- honestly any of them, his character is pretty consistent: Similar to klaus, Five is delightful every single season. However, he hasn’t had a whole lot of development over the seasons compared to his siblings (which makes sense, it’s been years for some of the siblings, for him it’s been like 3 weeks). Regardless he’s always incredible and Aidan Gallagher absolutely delivers a great performance each season. I will say that season 3 humanized five in a way the other seasons hadn’t, he showed true emotion and love for his siblings, and most notably, he had fun this season. Before this season I would NOT have been able to picture Five singing karaoke but here we are.
Ben- Season 2: I preferred season 2 Ben for a couple reasons but mostly it was just nice to see his relationship with Klaus progress and because of his tragic selfless ending (heartbreaking but good character development for him).
Viktor- Season 2 or Season 3: I think season 3 is pretty self evident, obviously Viktor’s transition plotline was well handled and it was lovely getting to see him being himself (but as i mentioned in an earlier post, I find Viktor to consistently distraught which can be irritating), and that’s why I include season 2. I found his plotline and character more enjoyable in season 2, since he seemed to be consistently at his happiest.
Lila- Season 2 or Season 3: Honestly Lila has been fantastic in both seasons she’s been in. I’m very curious to see how things will go next season, I’m sure watching Lila deal with motherhood will be very amusing.
Reginald- Season 3: His best season is also his worst season, he was entertaining and loveable as well as (ultimately) infuriating and literally the bane of my existence.
Grace- Season 1: To be honest, I considered adding season 2 because I really liked what we saw of the real Grace, however it wasn’t much. Other than that, season 1 had some great flashbacks that showed the caring and loving mother that she was.
