after crying- bawling my eyes out at seventeen's mama daesang speech, i am finally here. having stanned bts since 2018, my expectations from groups have always been very high (considering that i fell out of bts too in 2021-22) bts will always have that special place in my heart- a haven preserved only for them. but seventeen, seventeen is different on so many levels- if bts introduced me to kpop, svt helped me to stay in it; if bts helped me to love myself, svt gave me that drive to move forward. i would have been totally out of kpop scene if i hadn't discovered seventeen during that HOT era.

i had honestly tried- tried stanning many groups but no one resonated like seventeen- and it was probably because how similar their and bts's situation was and how easy it was for me to see their genuineness, to fall in love with them.

they finally won a MAMA, they finally fulfilled one of their dreams and i can't help but wish for them even more- to support the boys so much that they are yet again able to taste the sweet apple of success like they deserve to.

their win made people cry, and not just them and carats, but actual artists who are supposed to be neutral, who are supposed to be their competitors, who might not be their fans- but they cried, they cried because they saw a deserving group (a group which should have already bagged a daesang years ago) win, they saw a genuine group of real idols win, they saw amazing and the most down to earth artists win. and when you do something good in your life (even if your family or friends don't support it) you are bound to an applause, you will make people stir, you are due to respect and the vast majority of earth (who know about your deeds and hardwork) will support you.

if i could only move people like seventeen does, if my life brings happy tears to someone- i will consider my life fulfilled, i know they don't think that highly of themselves- any sane human really can't put themselves on such a high pedestal but- i hope they realise, just how many people they regularly motivate to get up, to have something to be happy for; just how they have proved that if you work hard- you're bound to succeed.

What inspired capers name?

i've said it a few times at this point, but i've had like no proper planning done for the Anemoi names besides Zephyr,,,

with Euros the only thought i had in mind was that he was supposed to be a cheery all-over-the-place character, maybe a little childish, embody the certain twirling joy that an upbeat folk song brings. i don't remember how exactly i got to it, but i found out about the word "caper"

and went "HELL yeah, that sounds like Exactly the sort of thing that would define him spectacularly!!!" n so Caper of Euros came to be

in-universe i suppose the explanation could be similar. they set up a base for cheery Individuality n though most of the personality work will be done by Euros himself as he sponges in experiences, he was bound to be all :DDD, so Caper it was

At first, he doesn't understand what you're doing when you communicate with him using sign language.

He's aware that some people are deaf or hard of hearing, but hasn't met someone who is.

One of the first things he asks you is if you can teach him. (My heart, my soul)

He's quite slow at first but gets good at it after a while.

He always remember to talk slowly, just so you could read his lips.

He introduces sign language to his family and pantheon. You told him he didn't have to, but he insisted.

He gets angry at those who act rude to you because of your condition.

But overall, he enjoys learning from you.

"So this hand sign means 'hello' right? Good, just want to make sure that I'm on the right track."

Buddha

This man...My heart can't.

He learnt sign language before he met you, but still decides to learn from you instead.

According to him, it's better to learn from you than anyone else.

You can't convince even if you try. (Just don't.)

Whenever the two of you are watching something, he always puts subtitles just for you.

He abuses the ability to use sign language against people, by saying the most horrendous things to people when using sign.

You often scold him, but there's no use since he always does it again.

Nonetheless, he is always there for you.

I won't apologize for having bias for him.

Just like Buddha, he learns sign before he gets to know you, but is happy to learn from you.

He also gently corrects you, if you're wrong.

He knows how ignorant people are, *the gods*, about those who are hard of hearing or deaf.

So, he always defends should anyone acts rude to you.

He's ready to throw hands.

He is very proud of the fact that you prefer to use sign than using your phone to talk him or anyone.

Like Shiva, he teaches his family as well.

“why are you smiling and talking to yourself?” your monologue was interrupted by the sudden appearance of kim mingyu beside you, smiling at you like he had just captured some blackmail worthy material (which, he might have had).

“why- why are you jumping on me like that?” you complained instead, slapping your best friend’s shoulder. mingyu faked a whine as he grabbed his shoulder in pain, causing you to roll your eyes at his theatrics. 

“i wasn’t jumping on you!” he said. “i was just making sure you weren’t lost in your thoughts about kwon soonyoung once again!”

“shut up!” you hissed, looking around the empty classroom, in case someone heard the two of you. your eyes darted down in embarrassment, nails digging into your palms as you tried to control your feelings. how downright bad were you for a boy who didn’t even know about your existence that your friend needed to make routine checks on you?

“i wasn’t thinking about soonyoung.” you muttered, still not meeting mingyu’s eyes as you hurriedly put away your books instead. “i was- i was preparing for tomorrow’s speech-”

“liar.” he said, elbowing you so that you looked up to him. “you were thinking about him, weren’t you? thinking about how to approach him-”

“goal!” someone screamed from the ground and the two of you peeped out of the window, eyes immediately falling on a very familiar boy who was running around the field, screaming in happiness. your lips almost automatically pulled into a smile as your heart gave a light squeeze, feeling giddy as you watched soonyoung’s teammates throw him up into the air in celebration.

“there you go again.” mingyu commented, causing you to snap out of your daze. you shook your head at him and looked one last time out of the window, before putting in the last book in your bag and slinging it over your shoulder.

“he’s really good at football, you know.” you said, standing up and walking towards the door. “and basketball. and foot volleyball. and-”

“okay, okay, i get it. he’s an all rounder.” mingyu muttered, following you out of the classroom. 

he’s also a great singer. and a dancer. and he’s really, really funny. you wanted to tell mingyu about the million other things soonyoung was great at and the billion other things you loved about him but you got the feeling that your best friend would just scold you once again for being so pathetic.

but how could you not like him? how could you not like kwon soonyoung when he was so sweet, so beautiful, so lovely, so nice, so funny and so, so talented? he was a force that could consume everything and anything in his path and he had consumed your breath away from the very beginning.

so the two of you walked in silence to the canteen, only to stop at the entrance due to the crowd of students that had gathered.

“what’s going on?” mingyu asked, and his question was answered almost immediately by two girls giggling beside them.

“did you hear? soonyoung’s goal was so amazing that the coach is sure we will be winning all the games this year too hopefully.”

you saw mingyu roll his eyes but that did not stop you from standing up on your toes, trying to get a glimpse of the person the entire cafeteria was fawning over. and sure enough, there was kwon soonyoung, right at the centre of the crowd, hugging his friends and laughing as people around him cheered.

immediately you felt your heart skip a beat as you mirrored his infectious grin, his eyes reduced to crescent moons as he vigorously shook someone, lee seokmin you guessed, in excitement. you couldn’t help but feel happy on his behalf. happy that he was happy and content.

but it also reminded you the millionth time of why you still couldn’t go and talk to him, and it drowned your mood a bit. you were a nobody. a small barely lit sparkle compared to the huge bonfire soonyoung was. you could never talk to him. ever. let alone be his friend or even hope to date him.

“should we push in?” mingyu asked, indicating to the crowd.

for some reason, you found yourself shaking your head in negative. “no. let’s go somewhere quiet and eat.”

mingyu raised an eyebrow at you suspiciously, but you had already started walking in the opposite direction. kwon soonyoung would never know you and would never know how much you liked him.

but that was okay. you were okay with liking him from afar for now. maybe one day when you became a force too, consuming everything and his breath away, you would approach him.

1. I am sorry for misgendering Aspen Greaves. It was honestly inherently heteronormative of me to assume they were male before seeing them interact with other humans.

2. I absolutely adore how gender is talked about in Time to Orbit: Unknown. Like. It makes me so happy. Especially the chapter where they watch Dawn of the Dead-ish and 'Nish asks why there aren't any Brennan in the movie. I hope one day all genders are as normalized as that.
