can someone tell comedians that being ‘edgy’ in comedy doesnt just mean being complete cunts lol??? 

#yes this is about both the dave chapelle thing and ricky gervais thing because apparently they cant shut the fuck up about trans people #the early 00s was such a detriment to the comedy world istg... #and all the ricky gervais fanboys in the comments on twitter being like 'it's a joke cant u just take a joke' #when they get mad when someone questions their 'manliness' or suggests they're anything other than straight like... fuck OFF #there's a great clip being shared from nish kumar's comedy special from a few yrs back #when he talked about edgy comics (esp gervais) and how they've always gone after the minority of the moment(tm) #so in the 70s it was poc and in the 80s and 90s it was gay people and now it's trans people #because they're often performing to an audience of like minded people who not only see the lives #and pains experienced by minorities as easy fodder to laugh at BUT are also boring enough to not #be able to make any decent jokes or anecdotes about themselves and have to resort to mocking others instead #and the whole 'dont like dont watch' thing doesnt work #not just because the stuff gets shared on socials anyway #but also because there is an entire group of people who went to that comedy and laughed at that jokes #and who you know now see your entire existence as a trans person as a fucking joke #idk i'm probs not making sense this whole thing rly fucking annoys me tho #personal
