Tools for your Spiritual Tool Box
I love sharing practices with you that may be helpful for you. Some will feel like gold, and others may only resonate at certain times. That's cool. We need many tools to deal with life's stresses and curve balls. The challenge is actually to remember the practice when we need it the most. When we are sick or stressed, our logical brain goes out the door, so I create a list of what to do when I need support. When struggling with bladder issues, I would have amnesia about how to care for myself. I would be in pain and fear. So, I made a list and hung it in my kitchen cabinet. It said, "Take Cranberry, Uva Ursi, Marshmallow Root. Shoulder stand. Think about what's upsetting me. No sugar, spice, or caffeine. Drink lots of water. Get my anger out. Give Reiki to my bladder. Slow down to feel my feelings." Another list I had beside my bed: "I am stressed, and I don't know what to do. "I attached a picture of that list below. We need to prepare so we can get back to balance and health. What would be on your Healing Tool Box List? It's essential to keep this list handy. Please don't put it in a journal and make it challenging to find. Hang it up or put it somewhere with easy access. Learning tools and having someone to support you 1-1 are essential to thrive in life. We don't have to do life alone., I invite you to check out my Everyday Reiki Program. In this program, I work side by side with you to connect with you. With one-on-one coaching, Reiki energy and group healing, and learning from experts in the spiritual field, you will be supported to elevate yourself into your authentic expression. I am opening the early bird application process. Because of the high level of service, I have a limited amount of spots. You will receive early bird rates and extra bonuses when you sign up early.  A question I get asked all the time… When do you know you are finally healed from trauma?
The truth is… It’s not about when is the healing over. It’s about gaining awareness to understand that you actually do have control over how you feel in the midst of a trigger.
It is the ability to say, I know that I can support myself through this. I know I have the capacity to do it. I’ve done it before. And I know I’m going to feel okay on the other side. And that is what it’s about.
The healing and work always continues. Am I more healed now than I was a year or two ago or five years ago, you bet. But I also love the person that I am here today. And I also look forward to the person I will be in a year. Like I look forward to that. And it’s okay to accept it all.
Healing can happen, but it does happen very slowly. And I do believe that we become wiser as we get older, we become more comfortable within our skin and more comfortable with the choices we’re making and who we are and how we choose to lead our lives and not caring about what others think as much like all that happens with with time, right and experience, but also healing. So best of luck on your healing journey and know that it’s okay to go slow.
Join me on this weeks episode of Thrive Like a Parent and let’s talk through how we support ourself long term through trauma.

Growing up in an abusive home environment made me question everything about myself. I even question my own thoughts and emotions. Sometimes, I struggle with knowing what is the right thing to say or post. Is this okay? Is somebody going to be offended? Is somebody not going to like me anymore? Am I going to be left alone? My brain is constantly trying to keep me safe. Hypervigilance is so exhausting, but it was how I survived in my dysfunctional family. Now, when I notice I'm being Hypervigilant I acknowledge what I'm feeling, locate where I feel it in my body, and I thank my brain and body for keeping me safe. Then, I try to ground myself in the present moment by feeling the ground or the chair beneath me. I look around the room, orient to my surroundings, and remind myself that I'm not that little girl anymore. I remind myself that I'm a grown woman with children of my own and many accomplishments that I am proud of. I remind myself that I am allowed to talk about what happened to me. That I am a grown up. That I am safe. Post ❤️ if you relate. This may not be be the sexiest question but it really is a fantastic barometer. Truthfully, you can use this question to filter CURRENT relationships and whether or not they are honoring to the health of your nervous system. I know before my healing journey, I was attracted to (aka hardwired) for difficult, drama, busyness) and safe and healthy relationships were considered boring, not exciting enough, or passionless. I ask myself routinely: 🙋‍♀️Am I breathing deeper or holding my breath? 🙋‍♀️Am I calm or feeling anxious? 🙋‍♀️Are they holding my gaze and inviting more of me in conversation? 🙋‍♀️Is my body grounded or feel wobbly? 🙋‍♀️Do I feel genuinely safe and protected in their space? 🙋‍♀️Do my viewpoints invite a deeper, meaningful conversation or do they invoke sarcasm and closure? Ahhhh, I’m breathing deeper just writing this. 💨 💨 💨 Would you share how this lands in your body? . . . #sakredshesisterhood #nervoussystemregulation #feelthefeelings #traumainformed (at Aspen, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnNTJHEpUDi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withrepost • @journey_to_wellness_ What are the signs you recognise that let you know your nervous system is a a flight response? I personally notice I can't seem to rest or relax. I'll always be on the go, over-working and finding it hard to focus my mind or energy on one thing. I'll also notice somatic symptoms - over-breathing, breath-holding, racing, tense muscles/headaches/neck and shoulder pain etc 🚩 Share your red flags in the comments below to help others reflect on their own. ✨ If you'd like to learn more about regulating your nervous system & helping to bring it into a state of calm & resilience - head over to my website www.journeytowellness.online or the link in my bio. I am learning to sit and listen when the body has something to say. Is it easy? No. Is it comfortable? No. However, I love this wonderful gift from the Creator and choose to treat it with the loving compassion it deserves. • Repost from @thepolyvagalcoach • With a Big Hug from My Nervous System to Yours Your Coach, Alecia #nervoussystemregulation #mindbody #polyvagal #polyvagaltheory #selfcompassion (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkYHjzvOGXa/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Lelia Schott from ‘synergy parenting’ has been hacked 🤬 Here is her NEW account @leliaschott_synergyparenting. I know we have a lot of the same followers so I wouldn’t want any of us to miss any of her posts ❤️ Posted @withregram • @leliaschott_synergyparenting Softer softer softer Stronger stronger stronger It’s not uncommon to be an adult and realize that we didn’t receive the skills we require to progress. Fortunately, with self-awareness and support, we can learn how to grow in ourselves what we wish to grow in our children. In the beginning, we may have trouble knowing what we feel or need and why we behave the way we do. We may experience numbed or heightened sensitivity. This makes sense. Our body learned to turn off or up the signals as a way of keeping us safe. What we did or didn't experience in childhood is not our fault AND yet it is now our responsibility and privilege to grow ourselves up, with the curious compassion we always deserved! More on CURIOUS COMPASSION ~> follow along 🤎 it’s life-changing! With love, Lelia.
