authors note: i’ve been playing fortnite a lot like the dork i am a lot recently and i just couldn’t help myself but think about playing fortnite with matt.

streaming. i feel like streaming with bf!matt would be so fun. you guys would either be having a split screen stream, or you’d be sitting in matt’s lap while he plays. his hand would be resting on your thigh while you read the comments. but when your both playing, you’d be focusing less on the stream itself and just laughing with matt.

pet names. he loves and i mean LOVES calling you baby. when your in the middle of attempting to kill someone. he’ll be encouraging and call you baby while he watches you attempt to kill an opponent.

"baby he’s right there! get him!”

"fucking hell matthew. i’m trying!"

teasing. while your struggling to emote after a kill or trying to figure out how to build, he’ll definitely tease you just to watch you grow frustrated (in the cutest way possible).

"need some help there?" he’d say as your attempting to aim your gun at someone.

"no. i don’t need your help." -ten seconds later and 10 percent health left- "matt!! im gonna die! helppp!!"

skins. a silly part of me believes that matt would buy you a fortnite skin. you you mention liking someone’s skin character during a match or in the lobbby, he’ll immediately take notice in this a buy you a silly skin. it’s a cute romantic gesture and absolutely adorable.

lego fortnite. since i’m currently obsessed with lego fortnite, i think he’d have you building a cute little house you guys share or like a small village you both say you ‘live’ in.

there would also be cute animals you guys would spend all day naming and feeding.

victory royals. well you guys get very little of them, but when you do your both practically screaming with joy and laughing. it would be the cutest thing ever omg.

Once again, I sit here in absolute awe of David Tennant and Michael Sheen's acting. (And also the writing for this show.)

Let's talk about S1 E6 of Good Omens, shall we? (spoilers incoming, *in Crowley's mocking tone* obviously.)

Something that absolutely went over my head the first time I watched this episode was how masterfully they fooled us about the body swap. It's a wonderful surprise the first time around, but when you re-watch the episode, certain things makes you question why Crowley acted the way he did at the trial, and same with Azirophale in Heaven. Something seemed off the whole time. And during my first watch, I took it as "oh, they're probably both nervous about what's to come." But noooo, I was dead wrong.

Here's some amazing hints that conveyed, in the most subtle way, that maybe these two supernatural beings were not in their usual bodies.

The Ice Cream Stand

From the moment they go to the ice cream stand, Aziraphale's face looks rather stressed and serious. It's rather out of the ordinary for Aziraphale, there's always a sense of emotional vulnerability in his eyes, but in this scene, there's none of that. He looks around and scans the surrounding, the way Crowley always does. He walks around Crowley, the way Crowley always does around Aziraphale.

In fact, what would be expected of the real Aziraphale would be a stiff stand and some kind of nervous smile, and at least a bit of anticipation for eating ice cream. But who do we smiling instead? "Crowley". (Putting the quotations there because of course they have switched bodies before going to the ice cream stand.) And look at how David smiles here. It's a tight smile after receiving the ice cream cone, the kind that Aziraphale would give in appreciation if he was interacting with the ice cream person (which, he technically is, in Crowley's body.) If David was acting as the real Crowley, we would have had more of grin and maybe a slight tilt of the head even.

It's such a subtle thing but my god does it makes such a big difference and shows how much David and Michael know about each other's characters and I can't even-

Reaction to Gabriel Entering the Scene

Firstly, we have a close up of Aziraphale's hand and Crowley still adjusting to how the angel's body moves and functions (which can be easily taken as adjusting to the tight grip of the rope. Honestly, it's probably a bit of both).

Then Gabriel enters and what we would naturally expect is Aziraphale losing his shit by adjusting in his seat nervously, checking to make sure he looks okay, and loads of anxiety in his voice. But we get none of that. He doesn't even nervously laugh at Gabriel's joke, just gives the slightest little twitch, the kind Crowley would give when he's stressed. There's not a hint of nervousness in his eyes, as if his emotions are tucked away, something Crowley is quite good at.

Holy Water/ Eternal Fire

When Eric shows up from Hell with the eternal fire, the real Aziraphale would've been utterly surprised, but the one sitting down just watches Eric come in as if he was expecting the demon. In fact, if you look closely, everyone reacts to the fire EXCEPT Eric and "Aziraphale".

And when Michael looks at the fire in his subtle (and brilliant) way, the look can be read as both our angel looking reflectively at the very thing that could destroy him AND as our demon in the angel's body holding back the anger that he feels when he sees that this is what they were going to do to his best friend had they not switched bodies.

And can't forget the iconic scene of the roar with the fire spitting out. That is such a Crowley move and so out of character for Aziraphale!!

And we can see the sheer joy as his eyes glow in a shade of yellow awfully similar to Crowley's. I mean that grin is also literally Crowley?!

Lastly, we have the moment where Gabriel says "shut up and die already" and rewatching the show with context of how angry Crowley was at this statement, I can literally feel Crowley's anger in Aziraphale's body here. Michael how do you this? My two brain cells are literally going brrr.

Meanwhile, in Hell, when Archangel Michael enters the scene with the holy water, Crowley looks back and is genuinely surprised, but really it's Azirophale, in Crowley's body, who's like "wait a minute, Michael?!" The real Crowley wouldn't have been surprised even one bit. He'd probably make a snarky remark in fact about something like how Heaven and Hell are not that different after all.

Tone of Voice & Dialogue

It's just all so perfect. I remember reading on Neil's Tumblr that Aziraphale generally speaks with every word in every sentence pronounced perfectly and in an almost bookish way. Crowley, on the other hand, mumbles a lot of his words. They role off the tongue very quickly. There's a peculiar snake-like vibe to the way he speaks.

But during the trial? Crowley doesn't make a single super snarky remark or mumble his words. He stands quite straight (no putting his weight on one knee or slithering around) and the way he speaks is awfully similar to Aziraphale.

"Well, yes, um..." (87.5% of Aziraphale's sentences start like this lol)

"I don't suppose in the nine circles of Hell, there's such a thing as a rubber duck?" (Crowley level snarky yes but Crowley already knows that it doesn't exist, so he would've framed it differently if it was really him speaking. This is very much peak "unexpectedly funny" Aziraphale humor.)

Also, I think the very first hint we have about the body swap, as far as dialogue goes, is when "Crowley" is knocked to the ground and says "It's not a problem. It's a tickety-boo." Just cracks me up cause again, that's something our southern pansy Aziraphale would say.

And then there's the whole scene at the park after the fact, but this post is already long enough as is lol.

I hope I'm not repeating something that another person has already mentioned. I'm just mesmerized by David and Michael's acting and Neil's writing is all. Honestly, there so many other micro moments I didn't cover. And my 2 am brain doesn't have energy for making GIFs, I hope the still images will do. Alt Text will be added soon as well.

yourusername i'm elated to announce that during my eighteen weeks sonogram, a third future little chaos creator was discovered🤍

the best mom in the world came with us to find out the genders for our gender reveal party (planned by yours truly with mom and taryn <3), and trevor and i cried tears of absolute joy when we found out that we'll be having all girls!

trevor and i put a lot of thought into the names for our girls. since trevor's got some greek in him, we thought it would be cute to pick out names with greek origins!

"pheobe" means bright, radiant, and she was a titaness as the goddess of intellect

"katerina" is a derivative of the greek word katharós, which means pure (plus, she's a character in the vampire diaries, and the originals' saying is that family is "always and forever")

and "evangeline," even though it's also from english origin, still has greek roots. it's a combination of the words evangelos, which means good news, and elen, which means shining. the news that we'll be having a third girl is so good, so we feel that it fits perfectly<3

thank you to everyone that flew in for the day! it means the absolute world to trevor and i and i'm so beyond lucky to have each and every one of you🩷

quinn, jack, and luke, you three are going to be the most amazing uncles. our girls will never know a world without love; not like i did. you three gave me love. you showed me what it was like to have a family, to have friends. i know we fight and argue and tease each other relentlessly, jack and i a little more than the rest of us do with each other, but we're still each other's best friends. we'd do anything for each other and have proven that time and time again. if my girls are even a fraction as close as we are, they'll be the luckiest girls in the world.

griffin and ava, i know we aren't as close as i'd love to be, but seeing you two today for the first time since we told you both the news made my heart so warm. you're both going to be such great influences for the girls and i hope that their eyes light up when i tell them that uncle griffin and aunt ava are coming to see them!

cole, alex, and jamie, trevor and i put a lot of thought into choosing you three as godfathers and i know we made the best decision possible with you guys. you've all become some of the most important people in our lives, both individually and as a couple. i hope that the girls grow up to have their own cole's and alex's and jamie's, because i know i'm a better person with all of you by my side. i love you three!

Pairing: Gwen Stacy (Ghost Spider) x Reader

A/N: FINAL INSTALLMENT! I promise lots of fluff for you guys who have been reading along. Also I named this one different for reasons you will see down below.

Description: It’s over, the fight with Miguel, Spot, Miles was safe and everything was back to normal minus the idea of canon events. The Spider-Society was more reformed and acted like one mind instead of listening to that AI Miguel had created. You were currently sitting on the roof in your own dimension, watch firmly placed around your wrist, the fight was over and things were finally starting to slow down.

Characters: Pretty much all of it is Gwen & Y/N with like a tiny mention of Your aunt and Hobie

A breeze went pass your face, the smell of the New York city filled your senses. It wasn’t great but it was home. Your mask lay next to you, no one in their right mind would be looking up here so this was the one time you felt like you could be yourself. You tucked your left leg under your chin and your right leg dangled over the edge, you had your phone with you going back through the memories since you were introduced to Gwen and thrown into a multi-dimensional fight that seemed to rip apart the fabric of time and space. Meeting earth 42 Miles was a bit of a shock, especially how he was such a polar opposite to 1610 Miles. But still the pictures you took of you and your Spidey crew, seeing Mayday running around with her knitted mask on was such a joy too, and you can see why Peter kept asking all the angsty people to hold his baby she was just too adorable.

“What are you up too?” A sweet voice came filling your ears, you smiled and looked behind to see the one person who kept flooding your mind.

“Just can’t get over how crazy the last few months have been, I remember before I met you I was the one and only Spider here, now I know at least maybe 20 others and that’s because I cant seem to meet the other Peter’s, there’s too many! Why are their names all Peter Parker” She giggled and shrugged her shoulders sitting down next to you. Her gaze firmly fixed on the horizon in front of you, the sun slowly going down and the air feeling a bit crisper as the air got darker. You heard Gwen shiver next to you and you had a small smirk placed on your lips.

“I’d offer you a jumper but someone’s taken them all and left them at Hobie’s” You said gently nudging her with your shoulder, she pushed you back laughing. You couldn’t help it though. You took off the Jumper you were wearing currently and handed it over to Gwen who looked at you thankful.

“I need that back, I’m not going to lie I’m running low and its started to get a bit too cold to be a Spider” She giggled again but kept her eyes focused forward.

“Can I tell you something? That I feel very bad about but also might need a bit of comfort on” You nodded your head also facing forward watching the last bit of sun die down and the New York lights all start turning on.

“You know already about my past with you from my dimension, I miss them incredibly and I will never forget them, both Y/N and Peter were my absolute best friends. However whenever I look at you, I don’t see that person anymore. I only see you. I only see the amazing Y/N Spider I’ve gotten to know over the last few months, and it’s crazy to say but I don’t associate you 2 anymore” You didn’t look towards Gwen, just kept your eyes trained forward.

“I feel different things with you than I did with them. It was hard to realise just that because every time I looked at you I saw them and that doesn’t happen anymore” She let out a sigh she seemed to be holding onto and tucked both her legs up hiding her face.

“What I’m trying to say is that you make me feel different and I don’t know what that means or how to deal with it. I guess I just have a lot of emotions and I can’t really deal with them” You chuckled slightly and then it turned on to a full belly laugh. You felt awful for laughing at Gwen but it was too hard not too.

“Gwen, our whole job is having a lot of emotions and not being able to deal with them. You literally just described every Spider-Man/Woman/Pig/Trex ever. We are filled with emotional baggage that we can’t deal with and honestly even our Spider Therapist is fed up with all of us at this point.”

“Look its complicated, like I told you before I thought I was the only Spider out there and to find out theres a MULTIVERSE of them literally has blown my mind. But you know what who cares” Gwen was a bit offended that you laughed at her especially during her heartfelt speech but as you slowly explained the reasoning for it she couldn’t help but find the irony in the entire situation and started to laugh along with you.

“Yeah you’re right who cares, we’ve found our family, found other people who know what its like for us to go through this. All I know is that I appreciate you as a person, as a friend and maybe something more” She sent you a sly smile slowly reaching for you hand and grabbing onto it.

You kept your head forward but acknowledged the gesture by squeezing her hand and smiling. On the outside you were calm, cool and collected but on the inside you were about to pop open with butterflies flying out of your stomach, mouth, all your holes. When you got a chance you looked at Gwen out of your peripheral’s and could almost see her dimension colours blending in with yours. You heart almost burst open at the beautiful colour scheme that was behind her, it was filled with bright colours again but there was a very pre-dominant pink displaying behind her. You looked at her face and could see that same pink dusting her cheeks in the slightest.

You grabbed her hand and pulled her into your side, she just melted into it with a content sigh leaving her lips, she didn’t know how long she had been holding onto that for but it just felt right.

Soon the sun left and all that was in front of you was the beautiful city scape filled with street and car lights. You heard some steady breathing coming from your side where Gwen lay and looked over to see she had fallen asleep, your heart jumped at how beautiful she looked and you brushed away one of her locks. Her body was ice cold to touch so you got up gently and carried Gwen in your arms. Trying not to disturb her you leaped between buildings only a couple blocks from your apartment.

As soon as you arrived you opened up your lounge room window only to see your Aunt and Hobie of all people sitting there enjoying what was on TV. You walked in quietly but you shot Hobie in the back of his head who held up his hands and moved back on to his dimension leaving your Aunt in the lounge room looking at you and a very tired Gwen snuggled into your arms. She raised her eyebrow but had a smile on her face. She got up and went to leave the apartment as she had dinner plans to get too anyway but she gestured to you a small wave.

You moved into your bedroom and put Gwen in your bed who immediately snuggled into the bed sheets. You laughed, took off your suit and headed towards the lounge room where you got comfortable on the couch. The clock read 6.30pm which was unusually early for you but just like Gwen you barely had time to rest, slowly you felt your eyelids drop and fell into a deep sleep.

Shortly after you fell into a deep slumber you heard some movement around the apartment. You woke up fully ready to fight the intruder only to see it was Gwen groggily walking through your apartment, you couldn’t get over how it adorable it was to see her walking out with your oversized jumped on rubbing her eyes, she spotted you on the couch and walked towards you.

“Come on Spider” She said grabbing your hand and dragging you into your room. She pushed you onto the bed and before you could utter even a single word she slid in next to you, her face snuggled up on your chest, her breathing evened out almost immediately and she fell straight back to sleep. You on the other hand were having the biggest heart attack, your heart was literally beating out of your chest, you checked at least 7 times if your heart was bothering Gwen in anyway cause she was laying on top of it but she was too sound asleep to even care. You didn’t know what to do with yourself, you didn’t know where to put your hand, what to do with your body so you lay as stiff as a board afraid to move.

“Relax Spider, we’re just cuddling theres nothing wrong with that” She said, you could hear the smirk she had on her lips and you knew at this point she was tormenting you. So you decided enough was enough, her words were enough to relax you into the embrace. Before she could fall asleep though you rolled over and were laying with your chest pushed against hers.

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were doing this on purpose” You teased looking at the blonde hair girl. She didn’t say anything she barely opened her eyes to look at you, taking into account how close you were it was your turn to smirk.

You wrapped your arm around her waist and pulled her so she was flushed against your chest, not a single inch of space was available, even in bed you towered over her a little and by this point she had opened her eyes, the widest you had ever seen them. You leaned down getting closer to her lips only to miss them by mere millimetres and proceeded to fake snore directly in her ear. She let out the loudest giggle and pushed you off her with her face beet red. You took some satisfaction in that interaction and went back to laying on your back and pulling her in to your side again.

“Get some sleep my tired Gwen” you kissed her forehead and proceeded to close your eyes. Before you drifted off all you can hear was he heart beating out of her chest.

Morning had come around and Gwen was still tucked into your side, the sun was poking through and you looked at the time, it was 10am and you were shocked at the amount of sleep you had gotten. While you were checking out the time the girl next to you beginning to stir, you stayed where you were waiting to see if she would wake up and she did, her eyes open and even though she only had short hair it was EVERYWHERE she had a bad case of bed hair and you laughed at her.

“What? Y/N what are you laughing about?” She said checking her face, once she got to her hair she quickly stood up and sprint into the bathroom.

“Good Morning Gwen!” You heard your aunt say laughing. You walked out of your room and she gave you the biggest look, she slowly started sipping her coffee and couldn’t help the cheeky smiled that graced your lips.

“So are you 2…” She trailed off but you knew exactly what she was going to ask. “No A/N we’re just friends” She moved out of the kitchen towards the dining table you sported and placed her cup down, she grabbed her phone and began scrolling.

“Yes I too just sleep with my friends” She smiled again and your face grew flush again, you went to argue back but Gwen came bursting out of the bathroom, your Jumper still placed firmly on her body.

“Good Morning A/N” She made her way into the kitchen she had been in multiple times, poor herself a tea and sat down next to your Aunt. You just stood in the corner watching the scene unfold in front of you with a tiny smile on your lips.

“Soooo what do you 2 have planned today?” Your aunt asked, you finally sat down your face still slightly read from your Aunts comment before. Gwen looked at you and you shrugged your shoulders.

“Maybe go for a walk or something” Your Aunt picked up her drink again trying to hide a devious smile she had. “Maybe go for a walk or something hey?” She repeated to Gwen looking at you, you honestly couldn’t take what your Aunt was saying so you told Gwen you were leaving asap. She chucked on a change of clothes she had bought, still with your jumper and you left the apartment while glaring back at your Aunt.

As you were both walking down the footpath the tension was incredible, neither of you could think straight and kept bumping into bystanders. As you were walking someone was a little too close to you and bumped you towards Gwen, your fingers grazed but it was enough to start up those damn butterflies again.

You both pulled away quietly apologising to the other for the awkward interaction, as you walked through the crowd you felt a bit hungry seeing as you skipped out on breakfast you grabbed Gwen’s attention.

“Let’s go out for breakfast!” You said with the biggest grin on your face, she nodded and you dragged her towards your favorite Café. You were seated rather quickly and ordered your food sitting outside once again feeling that cool breeze New York had to offer.

Gwen was lost staring out at the people who were walking pass, you looked at her again seeing those same colours you saw last night on the rooftop, you reached your arm across the table and grabbed her hand. She snapped out of her thoughts and looked at you across the table, you tried to act all nonchalant about the interaction like you guys had done this 100x and it wasn’t new to either of you. But she smiled and squeezed your hand. You looked back at her and could see those colours had now amplified, that pink hue coming through that was also present on her cheeks.

Soon though your bubble burst and your food had come out, so both of you tucked into your food not realising how long it had also been since you had a decent meal. Once you finished off you both thanked the restaurant and headed further down the footpath.

As soon as you started walking though you felt a familiar hand intertwine theirs with yours. You smiled once facing forward trying not to drag attention to what she had done but you appreciated it all the same. You both came up to central park now and took a lovely stroll through there, you came across an Ice Cream stand and bought both you and Gwen some Ice cream, you headed down to the lake and sat near the edge on the grass, both of you quietly eating your ice cream not wanting to disturb the peace.

Once you were both done Gwen huddled over back into your side and you laid down on your back, her head pressed into your chest as she absentmindedly drew circles around your arm giving you small little goosebumps.

“Y/N”

You both stopped and laughed she sat up so she was still leaning on your chest but looking directly into your eyes. You took that as your queue to keep going.

“Much like you, I don’t know what this is or what we’re doing, but I can only tell you that I have literally enjoyed every single second of it. I want more but I know we need to be very slow for both of us.” Gwen kept looking at you intently, you saw her cheeks heat up a little but she nodded to encourage you to keep talking.

“I think at this point we just keep going, keep enjoying ourselves and not get sucked into the whole awkwardness of it all, hell I have hung out with you so many times’ we’ve stayed over stayed In the same room, we’ve hugged, we’ve touched all of it but everything just feels so different like…”

“Like it means more than it used to” she finished staring once again into your eyes, you nodded and sat up slightly so you could look at her too.

“We’re not very good with our emotions, we tend to hide away, keep them to ourselves or not speak about them because we’re afraid with getting hurt but I can’t do that with you anymore” Gwen held her breath waiting for you to continue.

“I guess what I am trying to say….it’s probably easier to show you if anything” You said, you sat up more but grab Gwen by the waist once again pulling her towards you, she was flush against your body, he hand on your chest and you leant down. Your whole body was screaming at you from the top of its lungs to hurry up and make the final move so you did. You pulled her face closer to yours and your lips touched. Everything in the world felt like it fit perfectly, Your lips were on hers enjoying the soft warmth, while she was still shocked and slightly stiff you felt her relax. Once she did she deepened the kiss and threw her arms around your neck to keep you there afraid you’ll disappear. You had to break the kiss unfortunately gasping for air, your foreheads touching, before anything else could be said Gwen had captured your lips once again, this one more desperate as she crawled further into your body, sitting herself in your lap. Her legs on either side of your body as she threw herself at you desperate for something more. This time she broke the kiss desperate for air.

This kept happening for the next 30 minutes or so, you would kiss, it would become incredibly heated and then you would break the kiss. Both of you afraid of stopping and wanting more from each other, both of you doing nothing but talking with your tongues and showing the other person just how much you cared for them.

After awhile they noticed a few eyes were on them and forgot they were in public. Gwen with her face 50 shades of red slid of your lap and hid her face, your lips bruised from the amount of kissing you both did rolled over to her and tackled her into a hug. She shrieked from being crushed by you but managed to push you off, she got up ready to run away and you got up ready to chase after her.

For the first time in a long time she smiled, no hidden fear, no sadness she looked like she had nothing to lose now and she was the absolute happiest she could ever be. You could see her world again, blending through, there was only one colour now and it was a bright beautiful pink. You knew it was for you and you couldn’t help but smile at the fact that this was your doing and that you could change someone’s entire perception with just yourself.

Gwen managed to get away from you but only briefly as you caught up to her, she laughed as you picked her up and circled her around your body coming to a halt, you pulled her back down to your lips pushing them against hers never getting sick and tired of that feeling.

“I know Gwen you don’t have to tell me I can see it”

And you could, that beautiful pink you would never get sick of seeing would forever be implanted in your brain as one of the most beautiful things you had ever seen.

ABSOLUTELY, UTTERLY CHARMED BY THIS ENTIRE STORYLINE. It's Tim struggling to figure himself out, what he wants, who he is, what he's going through, and realizing that he's growing into something he never realized was there before. And the story makes a point of bringing Steph into the story, specifically framing her as Tim's ex, and then also bringing Conner into the story in the same way as Steph--someone who cares very much about Tim and is worried about him and checking in with him. I mean, also, STEPH APPARENTLY TALKS TO CONNER please understand that canon confirmation of that is A JOY IN MY HEART but the quiet parallel of Steph and Conner as these two people who are such important figures in his life, but that Tim's figuring something out that's just about himself, that's why I like this being a Tim/Bernard story while also giving nods to both Tim/Steph and Tim/Kon. Do I have a favorite pairing out of all of those, one that I think should be ultimate endgame? YOU BET I DO. But I love so much that this isn't a story wrapped up in a pairing that comes with so much extra other context, that it's a story truly about Tim Drake and who he is and what's going on with him. If this had been about TimKon, I probably would have been flying too high on my joy about it to have any criticisms, but I do think it has value in being about a character that doesn't have a long established history with Tim, because now the story can be about Tim figuring himself out, without having to balance it with all the Young Justice/Teen Titans history and Kon's own issues and the intense friendship-turned-romance between them. Instead, Tim has the space to focus just on what's going on with his sexuality and, as someone who struggled a lot with figuring that out myself, that space to let that kind of thing breathe for awhile without having to pile more onto it--that's extremely valuable. But I love that this is very, very easy to read as a nod to TimKon just as much as it's explicitly a nod to TimSteph, while still being a Tim-centric story. BABY BOY DESERVES THAT OKAY THAT'S A HILL I'M GOING TO DIE ON, LET THE BABY QUEER FIGURE HIMSELF OUT FIRST THEN WE CAN START THROWING HIM AT THE PEOPLE WE WANT HIM TO SMOOCH, TIM DESERVES THAT CHARACTER FOCUS. (I'm absolutely going to keep throwing him at Kon eventually though YOU CAN'T TELL ME this isn't more confirmation that Tim's feelings for him were threaded through with romantic undercurrents because like he didn't have to be part of this storyline, but they chose to make sure his face got in there and You Can't Tell Me That's Not Significant.) Anyway, ultimately I'm fine with this because you know what? Tim should get a storyline that truly puts him at the center of it, plus HE IS SUPER CUTE IN THIS STORYLINE, I want to wrap him up in a blanket and feed him soup, he's so adorable.

Re: your recent post about noncon/underage content in fandom spaces, specifically in CoD:MW.

It's not an individual's place to police what Fanfiction or Fanart people create. The characters are fictional. The death, torture, and destruction in CoD fics are also fictional. In no country is murder "okay" either, but people die in Fiction all the time. There's a specific tag on Ao3 that authors can and should put on their works if the work features Under-Age or noncon content. You can filter out that tag and not read it.

I don't read them, certainly, bc that's not the kind of story I'm interested in reading, but it doesn't mean it's my right to tell authors to stop writing it. I don't read fics involving daddy kink bc it squicks me out like hell, but it is not my place to tell authors to stop writing fics with it. Fictional characters can't break irl laws, even in "reader insert" fanfictions. Authors are not and cannot be held accountable for the things they write, because they write fictional stories.

I recommend you block the users and tags you don't want to see, and you help encourage the creators you do want to see without insulting others. Your experience will improve. I want it to improve. I don't want you to be unhappy with your experience in any fandom. Fandom spaces are places to find your people, find your little joys, and to coexist peaceably, and it's wonderful when it all works.

I am not policing what people write. I simply stated how i feel about certain content on the internet.

If you think writing character death or death in general is the same or equal to writing pornographic content about children, you're too far gone.

Once again, you try to dumb down pedophilia into something less than what it is. The things about daddy kinks are two consenting adults who are not getting off on the manipulation and r*pe of children.

Like I said in my previous post, I don't care about your laws or that 'fictional characters' can't break them. I believe that pedophiles are the absolute scum of the earth, and I have no positive feeling when I think of those horrid and disgusting people.

Also, I want to make this very clear. I don't care if you write weird, illegal things like vore or kidnapping on the internet, I only care about the children, and I wish nothing but the worst on anyone who wishes harm on them mentally, physically, and sexually.

I know it may seem hypocritical for me to be okay with certain things on the internet and not okay with other things but I am my own person and I'm allowed to have my own moral compass. And I find no reason why anyone should be okay with this type of content being allowed on the internet.

I know that blocking them and moving on about my day would be the socially acceptable thing to do. But I don't have to be content with the media people consume on the internet. I also have a platform, and I feel strongly about this, so I'm gonna speak out on it.

I know I might sound a bit extremist on this matter, but that's exactly how I feel, I care so deeply about children and their future, and well-being. That I will commit war crimes to make sure they're safe

Also next time you write something think what's the point, if the point is defending pedophiles then you're probably on the wrong side.

Shoscombe Old Place full

First of all, in my head this story is either called Shoscombe Old Spot*, and is about pigs, or Is a repeat of the Boscombe Valley Mystery. I cannot call it the right name to save my life.

This is all I am going to see for every character in this story. I apologise in advance.

*There is a type of pig called a Gloucester Old Spot.

Sherlock Holmes had been bending for a long time over a low-power microscope. Now he straightened himself up and looked round at me in triumph.

"Since I ran down that coiner by the zinc and copper filings in the seam of his cuff they have begun to realize the importance of the microscope.”

And 100 years later it would be used in flashy, edited montages of pretty forensic scientists also identifying glue and threads from a tweed coat.

"Watson, you know something of racing?” “I ought to. I pay for it with about half my wound pension.”

Did Mary die, or did she throw him out for his gambling addiction and they both agreed to pretend the other was dead because it's Victorian Britain?

“It was when he horsewhipped Sam Brewer, the well-known Curzon Street money-lender, on Newmarket Heath. He nearly killed the man.” “Ah, he sounds interesting! Does he often indulge in that way?”

I would call that neither interesting, nor indulging, but you do you, I guess.

That took a distinct turn for the unexpected at the end there. Quite the euphemism there. Apparently it just means he has money problems (presumably because of being a horrible person and a gambler) but the joys of linguistic evolution strike again.

The spaniels are now also pigs in my brain. Everything is pigs. It's actually a long con that Lady Beatrice has been pulling for years. 'Most exclusive breed' = they're actually pigs in disguise.

If he dug up a grave at the haunted hook-up graveyard on Queer Street, man's going to be haunted by all the queerest ghosts. It's going to be Queer Eye for a Live Guy all over that place. Though I suspect Sr Robert is beyond their undead assistance.

Oh wow, is this the thing where people ate mummies for their health or something? There was a massive fad where people were just like 'I guess eating this person who is dead will stop me from dying, that makes logical sense and isn't disgusting at all' nom nom nom. Please tell me one of these people is a cannibal. Not like cannibalism yay, obviously, but that's pretty much the last thing this story needs to become completely epic.

"The creature was howling outside the old well-house, and Sir Robert was in one of his tantrums that morning. He caught it up, and I thought he would have killed it. Then he gave it to Sandy Bain, the jockey, and told him to take the dog to old Barnes at the Green Dragon, for he never wished to see it again.”

Ways in which Sir Robert Norberton is better than Sir Eustace of The Abbey Grange fame: instead of covering the dog in petrol and setting it on fire, Sir Robert just sent it away. The bar is so incredibly low for Holmesian villains.

Also, there was something in the old well-house. Probably a horse. Dog was giving it away so dog had to go.

But he didn't kill the dog. So proud. He can whip men half to death, but he draws the line at hurting dogs, apparently.

“It's the upper condyle of a human femur,” said I.

Hey. Look! Watson did a doctor thing! And it wasn't brandy.

And now they're going undercover.

Part 2

"...refuses to stop at the stables to greet her favourite horse..."

This makes me feel like it's not her favourite horse. We've already been told the horse has a doppelganger. Did the real horse die and now he's got a problem because all his money is on the horse winning the race, but he's only got the rubbish one? Or was there only ever one horse in the first place and it's rubbish? But the bone is a human femur, or so Watson says.

"Let us suppose, Watson—it is merely a scandalous supposition, a hypothesis put forward for argument's sake—that Sir Robert has done away with his sister.”

Did not see that coming. I think I missed that no one at all had seen her other than the maid. I guess it makes sense because if she dies, the estate goes to someone else and then he has no money at all. I have been distracted by horses.

Though the fact that Holmes is saying this implies to me that it's not the case. On the other hand, this is only a two parter, so there can't be that much more plot to go.

“My dear Holmes, it is out of the question.” “Very possibly, Watson. Sir Robert is a man of an honourable stock."

There is so much wrong with this exchange, I don't know where to start.

"Never mind me. I shall stand behind this holly-bush and see what I can see.”

By which you mean whether the 'spaniel' wants to go to its mistress.

Aw, he's such a good boy.

Then they stop in the suspected murder investigation to have a fishing day. That's the thing about the Holmes stories. ACD isn't afraid to say 'and there was nothing that could be done right then so we just had a jolly day out'. Crime fighting is such a leisurely business.

“‘Fore God, Mr. Holmes, it's all right,” said he. “Appearances are against me, I'll admit, but I could act no otherwise.”

A surprisingly reasonable response here from the man that we have been repeatedly told by multiple people likes to punch first and ask questions never.

"Mrs. Norlett, under her maiden name of Evans, has for some years been my sister's confidential maid."

The maid is married!? and her husband's a character?! That Sir Robert knows?! Plot twist!

So she died of natural causes. That's kind of nice. If it wasn't for all the antisemitism, this one would be pretty good.

Except for how the violent gambling addict magically makes good in the end and turns out not to be so bad after all. Though I suppose I should be happy he turned his life around. Maybe a little anticlimactic, but it's a good twist that I didn't see coming because I was too busy thinking of horses.

Maybe it’s because before playing Hi-Fi Rush I had no idea what it actually was, and the game’s bright anime-adjacent stylings somewhat had me discounting it out of hand, so I assume the extremely cool people who read this would be doing the same.

Maybe it’s also just that Hi-Fi Rush is… pretty straightforward? It’s not particularly trying to move the medium forward (although I think it does some clever stuff) it’s just trying to be very, very good at what it’s doing. And what it’s doing, actually, isn’t so much “anime” as “full on Sega blue skies” while being an incredible competent 3D action platformer/brawler with a likable (dare I say loveable) cast of heroic misfits telling a simple but effectively structured narrative with some very savvy music choices.

The thing is that… succeeding at something that hits that many beats isn’t actually… easy? Something I’m most struck by is actually those characters. By now we’ve all seen the nadir of Marvel-inspired quip-a-thons thanks to the likes of that Forsaken trailer, but even looking at something like, say, Guardians of the Galaxy, where they have something that (at least previously) had worked, it’s remarkable how flat it falls. Here, you have a goofy, act-first-think-later hero, Chai, the cleverer-than-him female leader, Peppermint, the funny robot, CNMN, etc. in a very simple “baddies are doing bad things, let’s get the different things we need to defeat them” story, but it completely pops because there’s been care to keep the story rolling naturally so you flow through it and grow into caring about them. I’m so insanely curmugeonly that I can’t believed to ride that line for me. But they did!

Now you could say, “ah, but the secret weapon here is that the game uses actual songs that you actually like! That always works!” But it doesn’t work if all the pieces don’t fit together. There’s no better example than one of the game’s latter levels that uses The Prodigy’s Invaders Must Die. It plays at a moment where narratively all hell is breaking loose. It feels like you’re in a climax of an action movie, not just because the music is playing, but because the story has taken you there. That the level design is clever enough to cool down, let the music pull back a little, and then kick it back in for a climax? Absolute chef kiss.

(It only really gets better from there, too. Ending strong is rarely something I think video games aspire to, but Hi Fi Rush is sensibly around the 10 hour mark and the last three levels or so rip. Did the appearance of The Joy Formidable on the soundtrack literally make me emotional? Yes. Yes it did.)

Now interestingly, I haven’t actually played any other Tango Gameworks titles so I don’t really know if I should have expected rock-solid play, but either way I was surprised by how well it does. What makes Hi Fi Rush genius, I think, is that it takes a type of game I am incapable of not button-mashing through and adds a rhythm action component that doesn’t expect but rather, uh… politely asks you to hit your combos on rhythm. And it works!

I can criticise it, somewhat, however They quickly add quite a lot of subtleties to the combat and don’t tutoralise them heavily enough–I didn’t understand how to use Chai’s “partner combos” until well over half-way through the game, and I don’t know if I ever got comfortable with parries because standing around waiting for enemies to attack seemed the antithesis of everything else I was doing. There end up being a lot of buttons and you have to internalise the order of your partners and switching between them rapidly in situations where there are like 3 different kinds of enemies at once meaning at times combat is just a total stramash. But even then, there’s always the beat to follow. It’s very clever.

Anyway. I loved this. It’s one of my favourite things I’ve played in years. Your mileage may vary!

Will I ever play it again? When it finished I wanted to play it more. That literally never happens. I sort of hope there’s a sequel, but the story of this is so pleasantly complete that I’m not sure if there should be one.

Final Thought: I may also be a bit of a sucker for this game because you’re always accompanied by a black cat. Inspired by the game director’s!

could you tell me (without major plot spoilers -- details about characters and character dynamics are fine) what you loved most about 13's era? <3 I've started my first major who rewatch since I fell off the bandwagon (somewhere along season 11), and I'd love to know what I can look forward to!!

Oh my days hello!! Welcome to my blog! :D Be careful scrolling around because there are a LOT of spoilers (one character in particular is a walking spoiler rip) but oh man hMMM this is such a good question okay because I'll be 100% honest with you, I wasn't actually the biggest fan of s11? Like, don't get me wrong, there are certain episodes that I absolutely love (The Woman Who Fell to Earth is a prime example) and I know there are a lot of people who love it a lot, but on the whole I was pretty 'meh' about that season. It's a great set up, though, for what comes next - because you know how in s11 the Doctor is very much, on the surface, all happy go lucky and everything about the universe is wonderful? Well, that's one hell of a façade, and I really love s12 and 13 because we gradually get to see that mask start to crack under pressure, and it's SO good to see how the Doctor just...steadily losing her ability to keep it up. And she's so SO terrible with vulnerability - I said it in an ask yesterday, but I'm certain that a LOT of that comes from Grace dying so fast after she met her, newly regenerated, as well as losing Bill at the end of s10, and it means that she keeps everyone else at arm's length and won't let anyone see her vulnerable, because she has to keep everyone safe and she can't let anyone else die she can't lose anyone she can't do that again. And in s12 and 13, you get to see some of the consequences of her not actually being upfront about everything with her companions.

On a similar note, I really REALLY love the key thematic threads in the last two series! There's a lot about memory, identity, trauma and grief in s12 particularly, but also in s13 too, and I absolutely LOVE stories that delve into those. For me, it's been such a treat to have storylines that really dig into these ideas and explore them. There's also a general anti-imperialist theme, especially in s12 and 13, which I really enjoyed. There is some pretty divisive additions to Gallifreyan/Doctor Who lore in s12 and 13, but I personally really REALLY love it - I think it really adds to the story and expands the sandbox, so to speak, whilst also doing this INCREDIBLE job of 1) adding new layers of angst to old episodes of Doctor Who reaching waaaaaay back into Classic, whilst preserving the episodes as they were before so you can read them either way, as well as 2) taking odd bits of canon that didn't make sense and weaving them into a coherent storyline. It's genuinely really cool, to me at least. So I would say go into that with an open mind.

There's also some WONDERFUL characters in s12 and 13 - I won't say who or what or where, but there's a lot of fun stuff. I don't know how you found my blog, so you might not know that I write a lot of fanfic, and I've had a whale of time exploring some of the side/recurring characters in s12 and 13, and they're such a joy to write :) But of course the MAIN characters are so SO fantastic - I absolutely ADORE thirteen, she's awful and a massive hypocrite but also just doing her best and trying to keep herself together (and failing), and she's so great to write. I've written over half a million words (literally) about her now, so I think that should tell you how much inspiration Thirteen and this entire era has given me. And the companions are just fabulous. ALSO!! There's a LOT of telepathy and other tropes in this era that I've reaaaaally really loved.

Also - and this is just a little thing, but whilst I love Moffat's era, he did have a tendency to overuse the TARDIS cloister bell - which, I mean, that's fine because I love it HAHA but in Chibnall's era, I think we only hear it......once? I think? I may be wrong, but I remember the one main time we hear it is pretty far into his era and I was like YOOOOOOOOO because we hadn't heard it in so long, right? And so to suddenly hear it again.......it was like 'oh frick, this is REALLY BAD then', and it just gave me chills, yknow? So I liked that a lot!

There are probably a bunch of other things too, but I reckon that gives you a sense of it. I think one thing to really remember with Chibnall's era is that the more you dig into the stories and engage with them, the more you discover and the more it rewards you. A lot of storylines that can seem really simple or sparse on the surface can end up being SO rich once you sit with them for a few minutes. I think I've particularly discovered this as I've written fanfic, but also just thinking about stuff and how it all connects - within itself as an era, but also back into previous eras too! It's such a celebration of the entire show - especially the last episode - and it's very VERY obviously been made by a team of people who had an absolute blast making it, and were all very supportive of each other. I've also really appreciated that there's been a genuine strive towards diversity, both in front of and behind the camera, and whilst there have definitely been some pretty blatant missteps, from what I've seen and heard (for example, during Gally One panels) these efforts were done with good intentions behind them, and all the time actively striving towards something better? And I personally think that a flawed end result is much better than one that plays it safe with no diversity at all. It's a step in the right direction, at least - and, post Doctor Who, Chibnall pretty much immediately went to set up a project that trained up new producers because he said that 'too many showrunners are people like me' - so I think that suggests (to me, at least) that his money is where his mouth is.

ANYWAY that ended up being long....hope this helps, though!! And I really hope that you enjoy watching this era as much as I did!! :D I've loved Doctor Who since 2005, but s12 and s13 just catapulted me into being absolutely obsessed with it again, and it's been so wonderful to get so much joy out of something that I've loved since I was a kid

Headcanons what it would be like to be in a relationship with Bondrewd

Note: There are hardly any fanfictions about him so I decided to write headcanons about him myself! Oh well... My taste in fictional characters is terrible <3

Being in a relationship with Bondrewd would certainly be an interesting experience

He is a cold, calculating man who is not afraid to use any means necessary to accomplish his goals

He's also extremely loyal and dedicated to those he cares about and willing to do whatever it takes to protect them (Of course, only if you don't stand in his way)

He is also a great listener and is open to different perspectives

Despite all these qualities, Bondrewd can also be quite intimidating and difficult to approach. He is highly independent and prefers to rely on his own judgement, even when it comes to people in his life

Being in a relationship with Bondrewd can also be quite intense, as he has a tendency to think deeply and analyze things from all angles

"Knowledge is power, so use it wisely and never waste it"

You probably wouldn't be allowed to explore the Abyss alone - He thinks it's too dangerous and you could be in danger

OH MY GOODNESS Kuwabara is SO whipped for Yusuke like im not kidding. he constantly is trying to beat Yusuke in strength, but most of all he seems to want his acknowledgement and attention. we see Kuwabara actually GRINNING with JOY when Yusuke remembers his name for the first time. theyre constantly at each others throats, but trust each other with their life more than anyone else. crazy kids!!!

There are a number of times where they each almost die or actually die and the other has a full breakdown about how the other's not allowed to die because then who would they beat up? The first time this happens is at the very beginning of the series before anything even happens and they're supposedly just normal middle school punks. They say they hate each other but they very clearly don't. Gay af

they start off as rivals and then go to teammates, but also in a "I will still win over you" way, and in a "no one can kick his ass but me" way, and they should kiss about it

Gojo and Geto (3):

STSG ESSAY TIME >:)))))) Warning for Jujutsu Kaisen anime/manga spoilers ahead! I had to explain deep dark depths of the story to prove that they deserve to win the crown. Here I go. Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru (also known as Satosugu or simply stsg) deserve to win the crown for the following reasons. Please bear with me throughout this whole essay because I am unequivocally insane about them. First of all let's get into the rivalry side of things.

In high school, Gojo was an absolute menace. The first time Gojo and Geto met, the latter hated the former because he was annoying, rude, and arrogant. Now eventually they became best friends, but you see, their rivalry returned when Geto was exiled from the school because they had a stark disagreement in moral ideologies, which resulted in a dramatic breakup in front of a KFC (yes, this is actually canon). Gojo was supposed to execute Geto because he did some Bad Things (that we don't need to get into right now) but as Geto walked away he said (paraphrased) "Go ahead and kill me. There's meaning to that." And My Lord is that a line. So for the next ten years of their lives, these two were separated, now on opposite sides, now each others' enemies. Eventually this came to a climax when Geto declared war on Gojo, but before we get to that, let's pause for a second, and talk about the meaning behind this all. I'll try to make this part quick because without restraint this would become excessively long. So technically, Gojo and Geto's breakup directly caused the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen to unfold. If they hadn't broken up, then Geto wouldn't have declared war and then died. If they hadn't broken up, Geto's body wouldn't have been possessed; his body wouldn't have, completely against his will, trapped Gojo in a prison, as Geto sat back helpless, unable to do anything to stop his best friend from being sealed *by his own hands*. Every single other tragic event that happened in Jujutsu Kaisen would not have happened, because, assuming you have never watched/read Jujutsu Kaisen, no, Gojo and Geto are not the main characters, and the whole rest of the cast was affected by this event. Yes, this homoerotic rivalry breakup is the very Big Bang for Jujutsu Kaisen, because if it didn't happen, Jujutsu Kaisen wouldn't have the incredible plot that it has. Butterfly Effect at its finest. Anyway, now that their rivalry is out of the way, I will now get into their homoeroticism.

My first piece of evidence for their homoeroticism is that... it's in the name. Both of their first names start with "s" and end with "ru". Both of their last names start with "g" and end with "o". And both of their full names have the same amount of syllables. There is no possible way that this wasn't done on purpose to get the point across that they are literal soulmates. Do I sound insane yet? In addition, Gojo called Geto, and I quote, "my one and only". Now if that isn't some fruit ass shit then idk what is. And now the most damning evidence of homoness, comes when Geto died by Gojo's side. This was after the war that Geto declared on Gojo, and Geto ended up on the losing side. Even though they had been rivals for ten long years, they still had an important and heartfelt history together, so as Gojo walked over to his dying best friend, Geto smiled, glad to see not only an old friend, but the most important person in his life, for the last time. Gojo's last words to Geto as he died were NEVER REVEALED. Only very very few producers of the anime know the words. They will be released soon but for now we don't know. But it was confirmed that his last words were THREE WORDS. Now I don't wanna put any words in Gojo's mouth but the most obvious theory here is that he said "I love you" as his best friend and rival of 10+ years died by his side. This is even further affirmed when, after hearing those three words, Geto BLUSHED, SMILED (as he was in the process of bleeding out!) and described the words as (paraphrased) "embarrassing words that they had never said to each other before". IT'S BARELY SUBTEXT AT THIS POINT YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THEY'RE GAY AS HELL!

Now before this gets any longer I will cut myself off here. Thank you for coming to my way-too-long Ted Talk about these stupid ass anime men who have been plaguing my mind for months, I hope you take my submission into consideration! I don't expect them to win but I'm just happy I get to aggressively type an essay about them in this google form :D

"How would I feel if Yuga resurrected Kuaidul?" isn't a question I ever thought would be posed in earnest

But... episode 92's summary mentioned the gang needing Yuga's help to save the Velgearians and Kuaidul coming back is always a possibility I've considered so... it's not impossible. Yes, there have been permanent deaths of sympathetic characters in Yugioh before but all of them were a result of the old studio wanting to shank anything that had circuits instead of veins. Kuaidul returning is potentially possible, especially now that we know this arc will be about them finding a way to save the Velgearians. He's a Velgearian after all. And if other important Velgearians die this arc, Kuaidul's return alongside them will be very likely.

I will say right off the bat that my gut reaction, is one of joy. Kuaidul is my favourite Go Rush character, bringing him back would mean I'd get to see him again in canon. I don't think him coming back would undermine episode 90. The fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself and got what he wanted (love from the Creator) will absolutely still be in tact.

Also my favourite Sevens character resurrecting my favourite Go Rush character would be kinda funny-

(Putting the rest below because surprise surprise, I had a lot to say about Kuaidul as usual)

But... for Kuaidul returning to work, they would have to make it work for Kuaidul's narrative. Which they absolutely could, by the way. I really don't wanna hear it from the "Go Rush is redeeming too many villains crowd!" Yes, you are correct. I am sick of it too. But Kuaidul has had "change of heart" setup pretty much the second we knew he existed: he is a Velgearian, which by definition is a pawn of the creator. Also, as early as his third episode, he is written in a way where the writers clearly want us to feel sympathy for him. Him having the change of heart he did in episode 90 was setup way in advance. Yes, episode 90 could theoretically end his story. He let go of his jealousy and anger and got what he truly wanted: the Creator's acceptance. That is cohesive and works.

You know what could theoretically work as a follow up to that? Kauidul realising he doesn't need the Creator's acceptance to be whole because the Creator just sees him and the other Velgearians as pawns and he deserves better than that. I sort of doubt they'll take that direction though considering this is Yugioh we're talking about. I'm not talking about the Aki's parents thing again. I'm not fucking doing it. It's not fun to talk about. Just go read the rant if you don't know what I'm referring to. Trigger warning for talk of child abuse, main post covers the sub, reblog covers the dub:

Needless to say, if something like that were to happen to Kuaidul (which I don't feel episode 90 at the moment did before you ask), I will be fucking livid. Kuaidul returning absolutely could work and honestly needs to happen if the Creator turns out to be the one causing the Velgearians to die, but I'm still wary about the idea. There's a lot that could go right but a lot that could go wrong as well and I would be pretty disappointed if they brought back Kuaidul just to ruin him.

So... I'd be happy on principle if it happened, ecstatic if it's done well, and disappointed if it's done poorly or worse, ruins him in any way.

I'll still love him no matter what though.

THE CHARACTERS

Definitely one of the biggest issues with the serie is the mischaracterization and misunderstanding of the main characters. They read like fanon headcanons of them, rather than the protagonists of One Piece. Sanji is being given the nice end of the stick and is probably the best written one in it. His relationship with Zeff is spot on and I wasn’t gonna give Taz half a dime but he fits right in as Sanji, mannerism and all, sometimes making me think he was the only one who studied the character (I don’t wanna jab at the actors tho because while I feel like some of them gave a lackluster execution im certain it’s mostly a writing and direction issue). Usopp is Usopp. Luffy, while having his moments, has been unfortunately babyfied and woobyfied into this idea of the sweet pure innocent shonen protagonist. He’s not brash, he’s not loud, he’s not as stupid as he should be, he’s never mean and he’s also against stealing?? Then Zoro and Nami, who are given the absolute worst treatment in the show. Both are turned into stoic, serious, no-bullshit characters. Zoro makes fun of “calling the name of your finishing move” because he is so edgy and stoic and this is a live action show who needs to be self aware that it’s an adaptation of a battle shonen. He’s also really mean and seem to dislike his role as Luffy’s first mate. I don’t understand people who watch this and are like “oh wow Zoro’s so ride or die for Luffy” cause he’s not. He’s ride or die in the manga from the first moment, in the live action he seems to be in a state of constant annoyance and indifference and boredom until maybe after the fight with Mihawk. He’s genuinely a slog to watch and I don’t think most people would enjoy this interpretation this much if Mackenyu wasn’t so good looking. Nami has also been devoit of all joy. They decided to girlbossfy her to make her more feminist which means just have Emily Rudd act as if she has a stick in her ass the whole time. That’s feminism! Read this for my complete thoughts about Nami but TLDR the showrunners don’t get her and genuinely don’t seem interested in getting her. Her character and her actions are so botched just to turn her into Zoro’s mommy nurse. It’s not even that I’m annoyed at how she was treated, I’m genuinely mad. On top of that, the characters don’t really have any chemistry with each others, except for maybe Luffy and Sanji. Nami and Zoro, especially, spend five episodes being absolutely, unnecessarely mean to each others and not in a funny gaggy way like, they really hate each others. Just to then resolve it through a bullshit good talk in a bar so Nami could then put the crew as her top priority instead of the village in this absolute stupid rendition of her and spend her night to Zoro’s sickbed to read him bedtime stories like the good mommygirlfriendoldersister she is. Embarassing.

THE WRITING

This is one thing that I can’t stand about live action, is how they have to act so seriously and be self aware that they are an adaptation of a battle shonen. The writing suffers strongly from the fact that opla is not a comedy when it should’ve been. Let’s put it like that: One Piece is a funny show with serious moments and OPLA is a serious show with... well I wouldn’t say funny moments, more like a few gags here and there.  Then there’s the issue of how much should an adaptation be faithful to the original work. Now I understand that a tv show cannot replicate shot for shot the original manga and there are a few changes that I’d actually like to see (especially concerning Alvida, which seems that it’s gonna be a thing), but you cannot change the story to something that is just less impactful than the original one, if not outright worse. Let’s look at Zoro for example. The whole thing originally about the girl offering the onigiri to Zoro is that she is going against the marines to bring a starving man food and then eating them from the ground because he is genuinely starving. By changing it the way they did it in the show it just loses all that side of the struggle against the rule of Captain Morgan that we don’t really see that much. And this is mostly a nitpicky thing, because then we reach Arlong Park where the story changes go from annoying to outright indecent. And are all the changes throught the season that then make a scene as impactful as “Luffy, help me” (which is actually being replicated shot for shot in the show) not carry nearly as much emotional strenght in the adaptation.  There is also a constant moralizing of the act of piracy and thievery, in the show about pirates. The protagonists of each arcs (Usopp in Syrup, Sanji in Baratie and Nami in Arlong Park) are sidelined in favour of an entire subplot about Garp and Koby which could work, in theory, if it didn’t take up so much space that should’ve gone to better flesh out the characters and their stories. So many of the changes make no sense: why Sanji didn’t see the Zoro duel, why Nami came back instead of leaving for Arlong Park, why Nojiko didn’t know about Nami deal with Arlong (I can get behind the villagers not knowing but the way they butchered Nojiko and Nami relationship is criminal). And even with its funny moments, the Garp plotline end up taking up space that should’ve gone to the emotional climax of Arlong Park. We sacrifice so much of Nami (she doesn’t save Usopp, she doesn’t go against Arlong, the whole relationship with her and Genzo is left out, her backstory in general is done so bad) just so we can have annoying filler with Koby and Garp? Trash.

DIRECTION AND CINEMATOGRAPHY

I’ve seen a lot of people say they are happy that this live action is not dark and gritty like all the other anime live actions but everything I’ve seen is dull colors, grey backgrounds, a bunch of spot the anime protagonist shots (the worst offender is Nojiko’s electric blue hair and yellow tee in front of the other villages of Kokoyashi). The direction is weird and always zoomed in the face of the characters. I don’t understand if this was an artistic choice or if they did that because so they could spend less money to CGI the backgrounds but it feels so claustrophobic. Some shots are made with a very weird lense that stretches out the scene in a really ugly way. Not to mention the horrendous third world country/mexico filters plastered over everything. 

OTHER

The soundtrack is perfectly okay, sometimes nice, I don’t have much more to say about it. The CGI is pretty good, I was expecting a lot worse. I’m very happy they put prosthetics on the fishmen. Unfortunately the show doesn’t know if it wants to look serious or silly when it comes to costumes and character design so, as I stated above, we have a bunch of spot the anime protagonist moments going on. At this point either make them all look realistic or make everything else look silly as well. You can’t have realistic AND silly because it clashes together. Garp and Zeff yaoi was insane I was so sure they were gonna fuck at some point. Exceptional and brilliant. And I think that’s pretty much it. 

Should’ve been a comedy.

BUT I'VE NEVER WRITTEN POETRY!

i hear you say. yes. i have never tried oil painting, but i would like to! i believe it's important to keep an open mind when practicing new arts—you're never going to be "good" right away of course. besides, my goal isn't to write "good" poetry. (ok, maybe a little.) but i write poetry because i feel like a wildfire when i do. i write poetry because i might die if i don't. art keeps us alive. words feed the soul. 

the best advice i’ve gotten about how to write poetry… is to read poetry. read bad poetry. read good poetry! and then sit down for a hot second somewhere and write. write for 8 minutes without stopping. you can write "i don't know what to write" 100 times over if that's all that comes to you. or you can write a play. describe the space around you. talk about what you had for lunch. something will come to you, i promise. and if it doesn't? gently put it away for now. there isn't any rush. you can come back tomorrow.

Checked the notes on that women writers rec list and several other people already wrote “this is Robin Hobb erasure” in those exact words :’)

So in honour of this hivemind I must say : I am having the time of my life with the Liveship Traders, excites rant with (huge) spoilers ahead :

I am at that point where Kennit is about to get absolutely WRECKED and I swear to god it feels so satisfying. The character arc and development for every single character in these books is pure mastery. In the case of Kennit you really go from “what a despicable man he really just has luck on his side” to “well I guess even if he did good accidentally he still did good... I almost love this Awful Imbecile” and finish straight into “OH!! NEVERMIND he really was a despicable man the whole time!!!”, a pit of disgust right on time where the whole story is setting up to absolutely destroy him. Kennit is a great example of how “does the right thing for the wrong reasons” is not equivalent in terms of ethics as “does the right thing for the right reasons”. But to quote a great thinker “they really had us in that first half I’m not gonna lie!”

What I really like in these books is that the centristTM opinions of certain main characters are not automatically & heavily presented as the right ones. I am still cackling at Hiémain’s “but they didn’t deserve to die!!” bullshit not being put on a pedestal. Ms Hobb did that! Her mind! Also the Vestrit family not being given an (entirely, let’s be real) free pass for not standing up to Kyle and letting Vivacia happen. The main characters, the actual heroes try to pass off responsibility for bad things and in most media it’s like “but they didn’t directly kill someone with their own hands so aren’t they kinda innocent?”

and then it skips to a single entry line (dec 3 2018) "reyn khuprus is a massive idiot" :')

Ohhhh my goodness gracious

I have gone full baby on Dutiful, he is the sweetest most cute drama teen since Fitzchivalry himself. I love him with the force of an exploding sun. His interactions with every other character are both precious and absolutely hilarious. He’s got a great mini-me vibe going on with Fitz, wrapped in Hobbs usual delicious irony.

Also poor Dutiful so lonely and starving for warmth, human attention!! The bit where Fitz is like all them hoes been begging me for this for MONTHS but I just can’t say no to those baby blues. I was like congrats Dutiful you just got a dad! Free dad with your meal!

And the Fool interaction like Dutiful you lucky boy you! You went from zero dads to TWO! It’s buy one get one free.

This dad was kinda mean so I had to get another one to counter balance it.
