short but chaotic Nimona headcanons
One time the boys were going through their baby pictures and laughing
And Nimona let it slip that she doesn’t have any baby pictures cause she was never a baby
The boys being dramatic sappy dorks plan a whole day where they take stupid family photos
And Bal being the most dramatic sentimental dork of all even goes as far as photoshopping Nimona into some of their old photos
These photos were just supposed to be a cute little inside joke that they framed in their living room they never expected anyone to see them
But as time goes on and they make more friends people see those photos and draw their own conclusions
And maybe Bal is incredible with Photoshop or maybe no one in the kingdom has critical thinking skills because people start to believe Bal and Ambrosius raised Nimona
There is a tw*tter thread of them commending Bal and Ambrosius for training to be knights and saving the day all while raising a child
Someone was talking to Nimona and congratulated her on being so brave
And Nimona was like “Oh you mean the battle with the director?” the person goes "Well yeah that too but I was also talking about your parent's split divorce can be so messy"
Most people know this is just a long drawn out joke that the trio doesn’t have the willpower to debunk
And some people are out here defending this story posting shit like “No a friend of a friend was at the institute at the same time and saw them with Nimona”
The trio thinks it's fucking hilarious so they never bother to comment on it
In fact they didn't correct anyone until Nimona told the real story of Gloreth’s “Monster”
And they were really dragging their feet on telling people not because they were afraid of the backlash but because they knew the teen parent stories would stop
Everyone is fully convinced that Ambrosius is the best secret keeper of all time
He’s fucking not
He’s a gossipy little bitch but the people who he gossips with are the real vaults
Whenever he wants to gossip he'll talk to Nimona
And Nimona always drops his gossip onto Bal because he knows Bal will tell Ambrosius
Bal usually doesn’t gossip but if Ambrosius asks him “What’s on your mind love?” more than once he’s an open book
But the gossip never leaves their little trio no matter what
Whenever the trio gets bored like on errand days or long car rides they’ll play a little game
Basically they compare people they know to random objects or animals
And they win depending on how accurate the object is or if it makes the other two laugh
Some of the accurate wins were Ambrosius pointing at a wet cat and commenting that it reminded him of Bal, Bal pointing at dog shit and saying “Look it’s Todd”, and Nimona asking “When did the director come back to life?” while pointing at flaming garbage
And then there are the other answers like when Bal pointed at the air and said “Mom” Ambrosius just turns to him and goes “Bal you didn’t know your mom” and he just goes “Yeah that’s what she looks like in my mind”
Or Ambrosius pointed at a cemetery and exclaimed “Mom!” And Bal goes “Love your Moms alive” and all he says is “Shh Bal let me manifest”

leaving a lil rant here :]
I love Tim and his ships sm. Me personally, I only really ship TimKon. Those two are perfect for eachother and have so much clear queer coding that it’s crazy, and they have dialogue that’s just. gay shaped.
I also get TimBart, I don’t ship it romantically but I get why people do!! Tim and Bart are close as well, and the balance they get between ‘depressed tired wet cat’ and ‘living breathing embodiment of adhd’ is great.
I also get TimBartKon, they’re a trio. They are always a trio, so many people like to bring up how TimKon has so much coding and one of the big examples they use is when Tim tried to clone Kon. You know who else he tried to clone? Bart.
The only Tim ship I don’t get is TimBern, or any ship involving those two. When Bernard first appears, he’s Tim’s bully. He actively makes fun of tim and puts him down and then that character is forgotten about until Tim comes out as bi, then they just rework his character and go “haha guys this is his boyfriend not bully ygs are crazy” and just forget about all the bad stuff Bernard did? Reworking a character is great and all but, it just feels a bit weird and out of place for me. There’s always going to be that certain toxicity for TimBern, at least for me.

okay, im gonna start off by saying you have all the right to not ship them, and im not here to defend timbern as a ship. im here to defend BERNARD DOWD.
first thing bernard does is give tim advice about teachers, and he clearly says they're gonna be good friends.
if bernard was a bully, tim wouldn't hang around him so much. besides, i hate it when people place tim as a helpless little boy who would get bullied. he has put himself in situations where he looks weak on purpose to keep his identity safe, but he's not a victim at all. tim is a social butterfly because he's really good at masking and reading people.
not to mention, both bernard and darla push tim a lot because they're trying to get him to open up and be closer to them, but he keeps pushing them away. tim is a professional liar.
and when tim has to quit robin and start hanging out with normal people, he invites bernard over.
and bernard is acting relatively normal, and he wants to play video games and talk about how hot tim's stepmom is.
bernard is a normal teenager who has no idea one of his friends is the hero he's so obsessed with. he even shows concern for robin dying and makes up an entire conspiracy theory about batman havin a robin orphanage. you can tell he's afraid of robin being gone for real because at this point they haven't seen robin in months bc tim retired.
i dont know what about all of these interactions gave you the vibe that he's a bully because all i see is a normal teenager teasing his friends and being jealous tim gets more bitches.
im not saying that bernard was never mean or weird around tim, but he definitely wasn't actively bullying tim.
bernard is obnoxious and cocky, yes. but thats just because they wrote him as a real person. he's the school's chameleon, maybe even a little bit of a loser, too. he knows everyone but keeps a safe distance so that he doesn't get pushed into a box. im not sure if, at this point, he was already in a cult or being indoctrinated, but when we see his parents and the dowd home in tim drake: robin that just doesn't look right.
also homie talk about "forgetting all the bad things bernard did" (which in my opinion is none but okay lets follow that logic) everyone forget about all the bad things batman did to tim, he was not a kind and loving mentor, he was cruel to both tim and steph. we forget that batman was kind of an asshole to damien in the beginning. all those things are forgotten for the sake of the batfam.
in conclusion: we're just so used to the idea that superheroes can only ever form strong friendship bonds by having near death experiences together that we forget that the secret identifies exist and that the people who know them by their legal name also means a lot to them. after all, these people are the reason why they're heroes.

i love the recaps at the start of magicians episodes because other than glee i'm not sure there's a show on earth with so fucking much going on, the recaps are actually necessary it's kind of funny
queen of the night aria is always used to be like "this person likes classical music AND they're a PRICK" and i don't resent that because whatever but i DO find it funny

I'm gonna guess and say Rise cause that's the only thing I've posted about so far
Let's start with Raph lol
He likes to work out and train really early in the morning cause everyone's asleep and it's super peaceful.

When he's bored, he likes to shadow box the air
His favorite superhero is Thor because he's also really buff but a total sweetheart

When he can't sleep from nightmares, he tends to train with Buddy to take his mind off of it.
He loves teddy bears (But that's canon so)
He really wishes that he could be friends with humans and they wouldn't be so scared of him

Also is the biggest supporter of Cass's Girl Scouts
I'm gonna do Leo next (Side note he's my favorite so I have a lot more for him ;-;)
This man...makes all the puns. Sometimes when he can't sleep, he'll go on Reddit (or whatever) and look up puns/pick up lines
He doesn't sleep all the time, but when he does, it's in the most obscure positions known to human (turtle?) kind.
Once he mastered his portalling, he took advantage of it and travelled for awhile, exploring different places.
He's the most suspicious of people and prides himself on his intuition.
Cannot cook. Or bake. Or do anything involving an oven. If you ask him to preheat the oven, he'll ask how.
His favorite animal is a tiger, ever since he was a little kid, because "They have stripes like me!)
Speaking of stripes, He used to color them in with a green marker because he didn't like them. His brothers noticed, and all agreed to draw stripes on their faces until he stopped.
His favorite drink is Sprite (for some reason) he also really likes mint tea (if it's made right.)
He loves hair on people, and wishes he had some of his own. He likes to watch hair styling videos and pretend he's doing his own sometimes

He tried drawing on eyebrows like Donnie once, but hated it so much. (Turns out he's allergic to sharpie on his skin)

Surprisingly enough, he's the one who sneaks into the human world the most (mostly to go to libraries and science institutions, but hey, even the world's most renowned scientist wants Taco Bell sometimes.)
Speaking of Taco Bell, the only way he will eat any fast food is if he scans it for hair and the like. His worst fear is finding a hair in his food.
You would think that his favorite board game would be chess or monopoly or something, but nope. It's Scrabble. (He likes coming up with really obscure words to mess with everyone else.)
He's super super squeamish which is why Leo is the medic. The sight of blood makes him light-headed, and once when he was learning about the heart, he passed out.
He's a bonafide theater kid, and if given the opportunity can and will rant for hours about different musicals.
His least favorite style of music is rap

He has a hidden mini fridge in his lab that has a bunch of skincare products that he pretends he doesn't have when his brothers are around
Sometimes him and April have 'girl's days' where the basically gossip and April paints his nails.

He's not touch-adverse, per-say, but he doesn't really like to be touched without warning.
He always hated magic shows, and if they were on tv he would point out how they did the tricks. (Leo hated that.)
His favorite Disney movie is Big Hero 6 and he often info-dumped about it to anyone who would listen.
He really likes to chew ice
When he gets bored, he'll test his ability to stay underwater. (it scares the ever living life out of Raph)
He has scars on his shell from the Kraang ship and they're really sensitive

When he cleans his desk it only stays clean for about a day, and then it's dirty again and it annoys him to no end
Has an extensive knowledge of spices and seasonings, and every food that he makes tastes like everything good in the world and sunshine combined.
He is an active animal activist and is staunchly against animal cruelty and experimentation
When his hair starts growing in, he goes to April for help with it, and puts little bows and ribbons and hair ties in it.
His favorite game is Animal Crossing and whenever one of his villagers moves away, he sobs dramatically
He loved trains as a kid and as a result he's freaky good at drawing them and knows a crap ton about them
He organizes slideshow nights, family game nights, and family dinners
He's super into the holidays and is the one who made/bought all the decorations
He used to collect barbies to use as drawing models
He was super sad there wasn't that many Ken dolls though, and insisted on sending a complaint to Mattel
Was the first one in line for the Barbie movie too

no ok heres my hot take on the whole “breaking bad characters opinions on queer folk” headcanons except its a masterpost with every single character i can think of and it’s in alphabetical order because of my undying need for approval from fictional characters. queerphobic percentages included no extra charge!!!!!!!!!!!
badger: 33% - badger’s been hanging out for long enough to know that people come in all shapes and sizes, no two are the same and that doesn’t confuse him, but he thinks it’s weird. definitely believes that there’s a “normal” and a “not normal”.
chuck: 64% - good lord this man grew up following the rules and probably catholicism. he’s such a pain in the ass abt it too, like he’ll bring up biology the first chance he gets.
francesca: 21% - shes spoken to enough shitty people to the point where as long as you’re not a dick to her she could not give less of a fuck who you are or what you do at home.
gale: 0% - gale is the one character at zero percent for a reason. he’s just,,so full of love???
gus: 1% - ok this was kind of a joke but you cannot look at this man and tell me he doesn’t not have an iota of internalized homophobia in him.
hank: 78% - hes just,,,,so conservative-coded. i don’t trust him. i feel like he’d talk abt queer people like “snowflakes” and uses “blue hair and pronouns” but in the most derogatory way possible.
howard: 24% - idk man i just think he’d be chill with it. he seems like a homie.
huell: 31% - man grew up religious in louisiana like bro. strikes me as a “hate the sin, love the sinner” kind of guy but in the most nonchalant way possible.
jane: 5% - goddamn bro she’s probably queer herself but? god look at her and tell me there isnt a small part of her that harbors the most micro-aggressive biphobia you’ve ever seen.
jesse: 22% - like ok jesse’s funky bc at the beginning of the show hes definitely further up there, but as he grows as a character i think it would go down bc he learns people can be kind, and it’s not based at all in what they do or who they are. like he doesn’t get it, but he’s super willing to listen and learn, but only like,,,after the events of el camino. any time before that i think he would just kind of brush it off.
kim: 15% - she’d go to a pride parade. but also she doesn’t actively advocate for queer rights. but she’s totally cool with it.
lalo: 28% - k so lalo is so gender i struggle to see him as a purely black and white queerphobic person. like, i dont think he’d get it, or understand it, but he also doesnt,,,care,,,like, he’d kill you either way but he’d also ask you your pronouns before he kills you
marie: 67% - her husband is hank and her sister is skyler. need i say more. she gets SUPER terf-y.
mike: 36% - ok so i think he’s kind of in the same boat as lalo, except i added points bc theyre from different generations, which i do think affects viewpoints. but like on any given day mike does not care. he doesn’t care, but also he’s not gonna drive you to your hrt appointment. yknow?
nacho: 12% - look ok i wouldn’t put it past nacho to have experimented himself, i think he understands better than a lot of people that identity and sexuality is fluid. also? idk i feel like he would find the concept of identity interesting, so he’s done a lot of research of his own and stuff.
saul: 26% - saul’s kind of on the same road as jesse i think. like jimmy mcgill would try to listen and understand, but saul just kind of,,,doesn’t care. also probably micro-aggressive but would never actively do anything shitty.
skinny pete: 25% - similar to badger, but he doesn’t think it’s weird, he thinks it’s cool. absolutely watches rupauls drag race.
skyler: 43% - like ok if one of skyler’s kids came out to her, she would be a lot more supportive, but otherwise she just kind of lives in her own bubble where she oversexualizes the concept of queer people and thinks that all drag queens are trans women.
todd: 56% - gd bro todd lives with nazis. that’s a pretty confident contender for not being the most accepting. but of course, it’s todd, so he’s gonna be nice about it? but absolutely trash talks queer ppl behind their back.
tyrus: 35% - we know little to nothing abt tyrus’ backstory but he gives me rlly calm vibes. idk. he doesnt pay much attention to it. has pre-existing notions of queer folk that give him a more negative bias.
tuco: 88% - dude. dude. dude. tuco is a loose canon. please never let me near him. i will die. so quickly.
walter: 35% - ive seen fanfics and implications that him and elliot had something going on, but also walters kind of a total dick? like he’s homophobic bc his own experiences were shitty so he assumes the worst from then on out.
walt jr: 29% - ok everyone says walt jr. would be transphobic but i disagree. hes part of the younger generation, i feel like he would understand it more than anything? i know thats not applicable to every like,,younger person but he’s more surrounded by like,,society and stuff??? idk i think he’d kind of just shrug it off and support it.

I've been stupid busy so y'all get 2 day old Nimona headcanons
I feel like Todd would try really hard to be friends with the trio after everything went down
Bal is an absolute angel who can do no wrong so while he doesn’t forgive Todd he is willing to acknowledge his growth (sike he has the moral backbone of soggy cardboard and the character development of a rock)
Bal makes no attempt to befriend him but he’s also civil whenever he’s around
Nimona and Ambrosius on the other hand they’re not afraid to slam doors in his face and tell him to take a long walk off a short pier
There have been multiple times when they’ve had to hold each other back from beating the absolute shit out of him
And it’s not cause they’re scared of losing or anything
No they’re both confident they could kick his ass in 5 seconds flat
They’re scared he’s gonna try and twist it and figure out a way to make it seem like them harming him led to more of his “character development”
So they settle for mental torment
Before Nimona got comfortable with Ambrosius she gave him the shovel talk with an actual shovel in hand
He wasn’t offended in the slightest
Was he a little scared? absolutely
But offended? No not at all
If anything he was incredibly grateful that there was another person in the kingdom that cares for Bal as much as he does
Maybe a month into them trusting each other Nimona turns around and gives Bal the shovel talk
And he actually started crying
Nimona tried to stop and get him to calm down frantically asking him what’s wrong while shushing him
And Bal encouraged him to continue because this was the moment that he knew Nimona viewed Ambrosius as part of their family
I gave my headcanons in this post about how often I’d think the trio would cry which got me thinking about how they’d comfort each other
Ambrosius was very used to Bal’s constant crying so he’s pretty good at comforting people
So when Bal and Nimona do cry he doesn’t overreact
He’ll quietly console them and wait for them to be done before asking if they want anything
Food water a blanket
Anything they ask for he gets
Bal is a nervous wreck when the duo cries around him
He’s still not used to Ambrosius crying in general
And seeing Nimona cry is about as likely as seeing a double rainbow in a tornado
He tries to damn best to comfort them and most of the time it works (emphasis on most)
Nimona is just awkward around crying people
Because crying is something they don’t do often and they haven’t gotten too close to anyone in a long time comforting doesn’t come naturally to them
Most of the time they try and get the boys to stop crying by making them laugh or distracting them
And they didn’t realize how damaging that was until one day Ambrosius just said “Nim love all I want to do is cry please let me do that”
They started working on their comforting skills after that but it’s very much a work in progress
While Bal and Ambrosius are incredibly sappy dorks I feel like they don’t overdo it with the PDA
Like sure they’ll hold hands and kiss occasionally but it’s so small that most people don’t comment on it
But if someone tries to make a big deal about them kissing or holding hands they will go overboard just cause they’re petty like that

i’m glad i’m not the only one
one time an irl posted a picture of them watching cm on their snap story, and i got upset. in my mind, i was like “who the fuck do you think you are??? that’s MY SHOW” 😭
i love doing deep dives, analyzing, creating theories in shows and movies. for a more better understanding of the characters, plot, etc. but it’s sad to me when people think i do “too much” which causes me to never speak about my interests and i immediately think they see me as annoying.
but that’s why i love it here on tumblr, there’s a bunch of us here literally doing the same thing. analyzing every little thing in a movie or tv show, yeah there’s definitely gonna be fandom discourse about some of it (stay away, don’t get involved you’ll waste ur time). the point of fandoms (in my opinion) is to enjoy the media with people who are the same as u ❤️

hi!! no yeah i know exactly what you mean, the whole protectiveness over these things you watch over, and honestly for me its just certain people (idk if it is for you too or not) cause i know that a couple of my irls will be actively interested and do deep dives with me and such, and the ones that don't/won't, i really don't want them getting into it, mostly because i /know/ they're going to reduce it
for example, a couple of my irls got really really into dps, because i've been fixated on it for months now and talking about it whenever anyone would listen, one of them doesn't enjoy the movie as much as i do, but appreciates it on the same level as i do, and even if they don't have as much to add, they'll listen to everything new i have to say on it (which?? all things considered??? is somehow still a lot???) and give me their input and other than tumblr its the only time im able to actually talk about dps like i wanna. my other friend ("friend") got into it, actively reduces it to just the "gay dark academia" movie which IRKS me so much because i mean yeah but that's not all it is and for all our joking and posting we know neil is more than the theatre kid with daddy issues, and todd's more than shy and good at writing, and charlie is more than dirty jokes etc etc etc we've put effort into making sure we default at conceiving all of these characters as people, 3 dimensional people with real emotional ranges.
i think that's part of why the majority of us lost our grudge against cameron, because yeah it was shitty to sell out, but he freaked out, it's not like he has practice in dealing with losing one friend (forever) and having to give an administrative report on it??
as for criminal minds, it's literally never not been on in the background of my house in some way, shape, or form, my mom watched it all live, and i'm rewatching it for the fifth time, i've grown up with it, i've grown to see these fictional characters as people and family, which is why i hate people infantilising spencer, or reducing any of them to a single quality. if nothing else, these actors poured 15 years of their lives into making these people, and making them to be less than real people is so annoying to me, and disrespectful to them, at the very least.
anyway, sorry this has gotten long, but seriously like, keep consuming the media you enjoy the way you do, with the analysis and the deep dives (and if you want someone to talk to ab them ever, my dms are open)

do you think the church will ever change its opinion on same sex marriage? I really hope it will - I love a lot of the things it stands for but the part of the law of chastity saying you can’t be in a homosexual relationship really bothers me

I have tried to respond as thoughtfully and sensitively as possible, but please know before reading further that I am in no way entitled to receive revelation for anyone besides myself, and I could very well be wrong. Please keep this in mind before lashing out at me or anyone else.
Hey, Anon ❤️ I’m so sorry this has taken me literal months to respond to. I have made it a constant topic of prayer and fasting, and eventually took it to the temple. This is a difficult question for every member of the Church to consider for at least one reason or another, and I wanted to be sure I treated it with the attention and gravity it demands.
Before we proceed, I have to acknowledge my own privilege. I am a cisgender bisexual woman who is happily married to a wonderful man in the temple. I have been able to pass as straight for a long time with fairly minimal effort, and therefore do not have to face the same kind of turmoil as others who are “more” homosexual or whose gender identity is different than their birth sex. I am not unaware of how relatively easy I’ve had it. So as I answer this, know that I am trying to articulate the best I can and I’m treading as lightly as possible, because I may not be the best person to respond to this question.
I totally agree with your feelings about the law of chastity. It’s a law that seems very simple at face value, but once you consider how it applies to our homosexual homies, transgender folks, nonbinary pals, aromantic buddies, asexual neighbors, infertile friends, and voluntarily childless comrades, things become much more complicated (a great twitter thread on the disorienting logic of the law of chastity can be found here - and yes, I’m familiar with “The Lord’s ways are not your ways,” but I do think it inspires some thought about the way the law of chastity is taught in the Church).
It seems that some of us can not be expected to “have joy,” (2 Nephi 2:25) while at the same time following all of God’s commandments. Sometimes a person faces the impossible choice between following laws that they truly believe God has given but will make them miserable, or breaking those same commandments in order to feel happy. I don’t have any counsel or guidance for friends who find themselves here, except that your relationship with God is personal, and only you can make these kinds of decisions - involving the law of chastity or other commandments.
Now, to the real question - do I think the Church will ever change its opinion on same-sex marriage?
I don’t know.
I hate giving this answer, but as I’ve fasted and prayed and sat in the temple, I didn’t feel a calm wave of affirmation or the deafening stupor of thought. I have no idea if this will change. To be clear, I know that Elder D. Todd Christofferson (who has a gay brother with whom he is very close and therefore shouldn’t be written off as someone who knows absolutely nothing of the challenges and confusion queer members face) held a press conference with KUTV back in 2015 during which he clarified that members were welcome to support gay marriage on social media. Huffpost paraphrased the article, and this excerpt is from the very end:
“Could there be a time when the LDS Church would change its position on gay marriage?
“The apostle was unequivocal.
“Nope, he said.”

I know this is devastating for many queer members to hear/read from an apostle of God, and I’m sorry. I’m just sharing what my prayer and studies have led me to. It is my honest hope that more will be taught over the pulpit about where queer children of God fit within Christ’s church, but until then we must cling to the faith we have and strengthen one another. Find comfort in the personal revelation you receive, and continue to look for signs of God’s love.
