Accidentally deleted this post when I was trying to edit it but guess I can’t undo that.
———————————-
All characters in this AU are aged up and are adults
—————————————————————-
Anyway gonna take this chance to redo this post and upload her updated kwami swaps.
Behold the holy trinity of Kwami swaps part 1
1. Fox! Marinette: Huli Jing, she’s a trickster and her illusions are beautifully dangerous
2. Bee! Marinette: HoneyBee: She’s hella sweet but you don’t wanna piss her off because her sting can hurt
3. Turtle! Marinette: Chelona Jade: Graceful, strong, and powerful she is the protector.
4. Black Cat! Marinette: Lady Noire: Pent up Destruction can be dangerous especially for a rule follower who’s been stuck being perfect
5. Mouse! Marinette: Multimouse: She may be small but she can give you quite a scare when she divides and conquers.
6. Peacock! Marinette: Bleu Celine: A Goddess in human flesh her Sentimonster’s seem like a dream but beware for they are not all they seem.
7. Butterfly! Marinette: Titania: Light as a butterfly, become her champion be blessed by her gift.
—————————————————————————————————
These kwami swaps are definitely going to appear in Timey Wimey soon, we’re getting really close to Marinette’s reveal. I’ll also be posting the other half of this which the Chinese zodiac part of the Miracle Box, yep that’s right my girl is pulling a Kwamibuster on the corrupted hero’s but with a twist. Anywho, updated their designs and was just trying to edit the post but accidentally deleted it so whoops.
So cleaned up their designs and thought might as well post more.
The main seven Miraculouses are still my favorite

I know it's not really the right chapter for me to be asking this but:
I get you keeping a third of the secondary heroes since their powers really click with the personalities, but what made you decide to keep Max as the horse and change everybody else? I feel like out of the ones you kept he's the one that fits the least-
To start, I assigned Max the Horse Miraculous back before I was planning on having all the Miraculouses in the field. At that point, the only "extras" beyond the main 5 I was going to have were Luka/Viperion, Kagami/Ryuko, and Max/Pegasus.
This three way kwami swap wouldn't really work, because the Snake was pivotal in defeating Desperada, which as an akuma after Jagged Stone and guitarists, it made the most sense for the center character to be Luka. While other Miraculouses could've finished off Ikari Gozen, I knew it had to be Kagami's debut episode, and I knew Max would be the hero in "Robostus" to deal with Markov. While Kagami probably could've used the horse (since Marigold had Venom to stop Ikari Gozen), I had a set way for Max to deal with Markov as Pegasus, so everything just slid into the three keeping their Miraculouses.
Maybe I could've thought a little longer to make it work, but at the time, the idea of Kagami and Max having a kwami swap never even crossed my mind, and if it did, I probably would've dismissed it because then it would've left Luka as the only one not to swap (besides Adrien). Personally, I would've felt off balanced. I especially didn't even consider swapping out the Snake, Dragon, or Horse for one of the zodiacs that, at the time, I had no intention of using. Idk why but it's like a wall was there preventing me from even thinking in that direction.
By the time I decided to add the rest of the zodiac, I had JUST FINISHED "ROBOSTUS". So kinda too little too late lol.
I'm not sure what Miraculous I'd give him if I had absolute free range. Maybe the snake, ignoring how essential it was in "Desperada". "StarTrain" did try to imply that the user of the Horse Miraculous needed a good grasp on geography, which is "why" it's suited for someone smart like Max:
Tumblr media
But then it also implied that Max messed it up lol.
I think they kinda dropped that idea once other people started using it (like, how would Monarch even know the exact longitude and latitude of his akuma victims to use Voyage to teleport his akumas?).
I do kinda want to draw the Kept Their Canon Miraculous Club kids in each other's Miraculouses though. That is a six way kwami swap (seven if I add in poor Alix).

100% agree with you that the miraclass sucks. Like, when they were just civilian classmates, they were fine. Very basic because the writers are not great at their job, but serviceable. There was room for more development as part of b-plots in Marinette and Adrien's lives,. And then everyone and their mother started getting miraculouses??
Ruins the the 'chosen one' status of the main characters. For what, some kids that are basically background characters for their level of depth?
There's a reason that lots of the speculation in seasons 1-2 focused on Alya, Nino, and Chloe getting miraculous and forming the hero team, and the rest were just hanging. Five man bands are a popular way of handling main characters because once you start going above that it gets hard as hell to juggle everyone's characters and dynamics to keep them all interesting.
Theoretically with seven damn seasons the crew could've set up all of the class for miraculous if they planned well, but they're barely able to handle two; them setting up like 19 heroes is stupid as fuck.
If I had my way the zodiac would be completely separate from the other seven miraculous. The focus would be on that potential five man band of heroes to oppose the two villains plus some one-off zodiac villains for flavor. Hawkmoth should've been supplanted by the Peacock by like season 2, season 3 at the latest, a newer big bad coming onto the scene as the full team just settled into working well together. But the writers are writing by the seat of their pants ig so fuck that.
God I miss the fandom of seasons 1 and 2. Everyone was so optimistic and not yet bogged down with canon's increasing bullshit.
Yup yup yup
I remember how we were all excited for a bigger bad than HM to show up and then it turned to be his assistant with an almost identical power to his… yeah not a great realization

I'm almost complete with my Tiarantula unified with the Seven Main Miraculouses! This time, I made Tiarantula (aka Spider!Chloe) unified with the Turtle Miraculous and she has called herself Arachnid Shell!
Like with my Queen Shell unification, I'd used @emdoddles's Queen Bee unified with the Turtle Miraculous as inspiration.
The last miraculous is the bee! Let's go!
REMINDER THAT I AM OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS!

Now that you've almost finished King Monkey, I was curious, what are your plans? You've mentioned that you're going to skip Zoé and Félix for now, so, I'd assume the next ones are the remaining seven heroes from Season 4 (Mylène, Rose, Juleka, Sabrina, Ivan, Nathaniel, Marc). What about Alix, though? I think it'd be better to do the young one first, as she's already appeared in as many episodes as the adult one. You could also do Canigirl and Bunny Dog at the same time, like you did the Multimice.
Also, which of Gabriel's other designs do you plan on doing? There's quite a few (Shadow Moth, both Monarchs, the Alliance outfit, and Scarlet Moth, Shadow Noir and Monarbug who are miscellaneous), but most would be at least when you finish the other main forms.
Ultimately, no matter what you decide and create, your creations are amazing, especially since you're just a single person working in their free time, and not some company with many employees. Hope you're well, and keep up with the great work!
Thank you so much!
The order will be this (the civilian then the hero form)
Tumblr media
For Alix I'll make teen Bunnix first, cause I want them all in the same time line.
About Gabriel, I'll eventually make Shadowmoth and Monarch (the version with the rings cause adding all the miraculouses and weapons with the limited texture/category space of the Sims will be pretty much impossible), they all will be in the fusion category like Multi Noir etc. The second outfit (the white one) is not my priority at the moment. I don't plan on making Scarlet Moth cause it's basically a recolor of Hawkmoth.
Adult Bunnix, Alix with the dog etc will be all in the secondary holder category like multimouse.
At the moment I want to focus on the "main" just to have an holder for each miraculous, then I'll make the new holders just to keep up with the show (Zoe and Felix) and then we'll see.. It might take a while xD

Goodbye Paris
Marinette is 17 and the other 18 in this Au.
Marinette's parents fall under Lila's spell as well. She starts filling them with lies about Marinette and soon they start believing her.
Lila accuses Marinette of sneaking out and hanging out with the wrong people. Sabine and Tom start believing her, especially when they notice she wasn't there one night. She was out patrolling as Ladybug.
Soon Marinette is on lock down barely able to leave her house. She struggles to even get out as Ladybug.
Her parents become more and more distant, soon not even talking to Marinette. No goodbyes, hellos, I missed you, or I love you, just silence. Marinette tries to combat the lies but her parents won't listen. She slowly gives up focusing on Hawkmoth, school, and designing.
Halfway through the year she opts to graduate early forfeiting walking at graduation. She doesn't even mention it to her parents, just focuses on getting money together for her own place while applying to colleges overseas. After she stops attending Chloe reaches out to her apologizing for everything she had done and asking for a second chance. Chloe moved to America with her mother, their junior year unable to handle akuma anymore. Marinette tells her their relationship will be rockey and first but she agrees to a new start.
It's right before the end of the school year when Ladybug and Chat Noir defeat Hawkmoth and get the two missing Miraculouses back. Chat gets mad when Ladybug refuses to reveal her identity and attempts to make her. She stops him and takes his Miraculous back as well revealing Adrien.
"This is goodbye Chaton. If you had taken this more seriously. Perhaps you could know it, but you never did."
She leaves him there returning home and safely putting the peacock and butterfly miraculouses away. After his defeat she stops patrolling as Ladybug and instead plans her move, not wishing to be with her parents any longer.
Once she stops patrolling petty crime begins to pick up again. The city starts crying out for Ladybug to return but Marinette wont. She can't be there for everything, it's time the police start doing their job again. After a month the city is outraged that Ladybug is nowhere to be seen. They take to Adrien who admits to being Chat Noir, he apologizes to Paris saying that Ladybug took his Miraculous. He tells them that he wants to help but she won't help him any longer. After his display Paris begins a smear campaign against Ladybug. Tired of this Marinette transforms and heads to the Eiffel Tower broadcasting to all of Paris her goodbye.
Marinette- I have heard the out cry at my disappearance, and I find it deplorable. I have been fighting since I was thirteen. Did any of you think of that? You have had a child fighting your battles for you with another child that never took it seriously! Now, now you smear my character, saying I am a villain after I have taken down Hawkmoth. All because I stopped patrolling and taking down petty criminals. Instead of looking at me you should be looking at your police force. I am done, I thought of coming back after college but after all this, no. This is goodbye Paris, for good.
After her speech Chloe video calls her asking her if she is okay. Marinette plays everything off saying she is fine until Chloe tells her that she knows she is Ladybug. Marinette hesitates trying to think of a cover but just sighs asking how Chloe knew. Chloe smiles and tells her that she grew up with the girl only and the imbecile would not be able to tell that their 'Everyday Ladybug' was their actual Ladybug. Soon after the girls get a request for Luka to join. Once he is on the call he offers his own word of comfort causing Marinette to groan and Chloe to laugh. Luka simply tells her that her song is the same beautiful piece in and outside of the mask. Marinette grumbles teasingly about Metas being annoying, causing Luka to chuckle smiling at her. She tells them that she is leaving Paris for good now that Hawkmoth is gone. Chloe encourages her to move to America and go to Juliard while Luka simply hums strumming his guitar. When he opens his eyes he tells her to follow the path that calls to her, causing Chloe to groan. Snapping at him Half heartedly he simply smiles at the two girls before saying he needs to get to bed, the girls smile saying goodnight and wishing him good luck with his show the next day before they hang up.
She is really thankful that she changed her designer name shortly after Lila came to her school. Now known as MDC she has a thriving online website and even has a few designers that follow her designs down to every single stitch. While she also helps them get their own lines started. She even begins to employ models, Chloe begging her most popular. Her clientele extended even more and she had a lot of famous musicians commissioning her. She was even commissioned by Megan Markle before she and Prince Harry got married, and was even invited to the wedding she attended with Kaalki's help.
Marinette applies to a few different colleges all in America knowing that staying in Paris was no longer an option. She is accepted at Juilliard, Harvard, and Gotham University, she wants to go to Juliard but something calls her to Gotham. She can't stop going back to Gotham's acceptance letter and ends up researching Githam and talking it over with Chloe and Luka. She doesn't make a decision until Luka tells her once again to follow the call. So she confirms attendance, not telling her parents as she leases an apartment in a safer part of Gotham. She gets in contact with one of her employed designers, Taylor in America and requests her help.
Taylor is the in-between for Marinette and interior designers in Gotham. Helping both sides design the and decorate the penthouse so its move in ready.
Soon after the penthouse is finished Marinette packs everything in her room slowly shipping out boxes to Taylor. A couple nights later when Marinette has everything except necessities shipped her parents request she moves out saying they don't even know her anymore.
"Don't worry I already have an apartment and everything set up near my college. I leave in three days. And you don't know me huh? Well I guess that's because you two haven't really been parents in a while. Now if you'll excuse me."
Tom and Sabine are shocked especially since Lila told them Marinette had decided not to go to college at all. They confront Marinette telling her not to lie about it. She simply sighs sadly and pulls out all three acceptance letters, telling them she isn't telling them which one she decided to go with because they'll no longer be a part of her life.
The day she is set to leave Jagged and Penny are outside in a limo waiting for her. Marinette walks out of the bakery smiling brightly as Jagged gets out hugging her tightly. She thanks him for coming to America with her till she gets settled in. The driver takes her suitcase, putting it in the trunk before opening the door once again letting Jagged and Marinette in. Before getting in and driving to the airport to take Jagged's private jet to America.
They meet Chloe and Audrey at the Gotham airport, both women wanting to welcome Marinette to America. They follow the three to Marinette's penthouse. Chloe is in love with the place and practically begs Marinette to let her live with her. Marinette smiles laughing and tells her she was going to offer her a room after a month or two. Audrey agrees, telling Chloe to just make sure and call her, so she knows they're both safe.
Marinette's penthouse is big! It has two guest rooms, specially for Jagged, Penny, and her designers, when they come to visit. However now one has become Chloe's room. A kitchen her great uncle would be jealous of. A personal gym. A living room with a ping pong table and flat screen tv. 3 bathrooms. Marinette's own designing room, and the Master suite. The Master suite had a loft bed with stairs leading up to it, not a ladder. A large area set up for gaming consoles and a flat screen tv. Underneath the loft was Marinette's desk and desktop. One wall was a complete window showing Gotham from above, and against the other wall was a large luxury dollhouse decked out with hand made furniture. Something Marinette had requested was special for the Kwami to not have to remain in the box twenty four seven.
Marinette has the entire summer to herself and she doesn't have to deal with her birth parents ignoring her. She and Chloe can't wait to explore Gotham, and although Mari wishes she could patrol like she used to. She knows that this is Batman's city, and she doesn't want to get on his bad side. Instead she'll explore on the ground, and fly in her gym, which she had specially fitted with the ceiling covered in bars and ropes.
She even agrees to teach Chloe how to use the rope nest, with a net underneath them of course.
That next day Marinette, Chloe Jagged, and Penny ended up in the Gotham Gazette. Everyone wanted to know why Jagged was in Gotham and who Marinette was. Penny ended up scheduling a video meeting between Jagged and Gotham's main news station.
Jagged- I am not moving here, nor am I here for a show. You see my honorary niece. I have to say honorary because we arent actually related which is stupid! Anyway! She is my personal designer MDC, I only wear her clothing. She just graduated high school and got accepted at Gotham University. So she moved here, and Penny, Fang, and I wanted to spend the beginning of the summer with her! Mari! Come say hello!
Marinette- Uncle I swear if you want dinner you need to stop distracting me. Hello Madame, Monsieur, I'm Marinette more popularly known as MDC. Pleasure to meet you. I'm actually in college for my business degree!
Chloe- Don't forget me! Honestly you two can be ridiculous together utterly-
Jagged and Mari smiling mischievously at her- Ridiculous!
Chloe huffs before turning to the newscaster- Chloe Bourgeois, I am Marinette's main model and top female model. I moved here with Marinette as well, though I won't be going to college, you will see me around the city doing photoshoots.
Penny takes over after Marinette and Chlke give quick interviews. Once the food is done both say goodbye and get excited to eat. However before Jagged hangs up everyone watches Marinette picks up Fang like he is nothing and cuddles him to her chest. Jagged burst into laughter and the interviewer's shocked face.
For the next couple weeks Marinette eagerly explores the city with Chloe, meeting people and unknowingly creating a name for herself. Orphans know that they can come to her for food or clothes and never have to worry about her turning them in.
A few weeks into living there they get an invitation to Bruce Wayne's upcoming charity ball. Marinette quickly gets to work making their outfits in time for the ball. While making sure the Kwami can handle Fang and that Fang knows not to eat them.
The three make waves when they arrive. Penny and Jagged wear matching outfits however they are drawn back and more muted than usual, still capturing their rock n roll vibes. Jaggeds favorite part is the music notes hand stitched on the arms of his jacket and the train of Penny's dress. Meanwhile Marinette's outfit is made to resemble the night sky and when she moves in the light her dress twinkles in the light. Chloe's is made to resemble the sun. It's a layer with yellow and orange tulle.
Jagged and Penny talk to the people conversing while Marinette talks to a few people before being able to edge herself away. While Chloe immerses herself with the other model at the gala. Marinette makes a sizable donation, the money a combination of her own and her designers making sure their names are also on the donation before making her way to the food table and snagging a few cookies eating them slowly while observing the people around her.
Damian stumbles upon her when he finally finds an excuse to slip away. He doesn't speak to her at first just standing there sipping his champagne. They are both silent before Marinette snorts, placing her arm on his shoulder gently and leaning closer to whisper.
Marinette-look to our right the man in the terbile green suit is about to get slapped by his wife
Damian glances over and watches as Mr. Tennor gets slapped hard by his wife causing everyone to go silent as she berates him for thinking he could get away with bringing his Mistress to a charity event. Only for his Mistress to turn on him slapping him as well. Saying that he told her they were finishing their divorce. The Mistress huffs, turning to Mrs. Tennor and apologizes before storming out.
Damian turns away from the facing Marinette as he struggles not to laugh while the room is still silent. Once the talking picks back up Damian introduces himself and Marinette does the same. A little amused by the stars in Damian's eyes when he confirms she's MDC. He admits that her album covers are his favorites of Jagged's and that he has even attempted commissioning her but was unable to get in. Marinette apologizes telling him that recently she's been keeping the same clientele since she was planning on moving. She then pulls out her phone unlocking it and giving it to him.
Marinette-Put your number in and I'll contact you tomorrow about what you want to commission.
The two spend the rest of the night talking and pointing out things about those around them. Marinette's hand remains on his shoulder and soon she is leaning against him, her head resting on his shoulder and his arm around her waist as they whisper back and forth. Pointing out different things to each other and hiding the laughter as best they can.
At one point Damian notices his father starting to walk over and quickly asks her to dance. Marinette is surprised at first but she notices Mr. Wayne makes his way towards them and smirks before nodding. Damian takes her hand leading her to the dance floor. Marinette smiles at him and starts teasing him asking if he didn't want his father to see her with him. Damian quickly tells her that's not it before realizing that she was joking. He rolls his eyes huffing at her saying that his father would make a scene. This causes Marinette to snort before agreeing to help each other hide from him for the night, and they do so successfully. The only one to catch the two is Chloe who gives Damian a quick one over before deeming him good enough for her Marinette. At the end of the night Jagged and Penny find Marinette and return to her penthouse. Marinette says goodbye to Damian kissing his cheek softly before leaving with them.
When Bruce finally catches up to his youngest he huffs wrapping an arm around his shoulder declaring that they were going to have a long talk on the ride home.
The rest of the night his entire family won't stop teasing him about actually dancing with a girl and not getting her number. They keep bringing it up until he smirks holding up his phone.
Damian- That's because she got mine instead.
He leaves the room leaving his brother in slight shock while Alfred holds up a camera and asks if they want to see pictures of the two together.
A week later Marinette meets Robin for the first time when Marinette is cornered in an alley. When Robin drops down startling them Marinette jumps into action stomping on one guy's foot getting him to release her before flipping him over her shoulder. Then she attacks at the two closest to her she flips over one's shoulder dropping behind him and kicking his legs out from under him. Punching him hard in the face. After knocking him out she jumps back as the other guy attempts to hit her. She dodges and blocks his punch before flipping back and crouching launching herself forward and punching him in the gut hard. She steps back breathing hard as she watches Robin take out the last guys. Robin turns to her and looks her over making sure she isn't hurt. Marinette thanks him softly leaning against the wall trying to catch her breath. Once she is calmed down Robin escorts her home.
The next day Damian messages her asking her on a date. Marinette teasingly asks if he's just doing this to convince her to give him a discount and he just groans. Marinette laughs telling him to pick her up at 6.
Marinette and Damian spend the summer getting to know each other and going on dates. Meeting Damian's family was an adventure for her, she loved getting to know the boys, Stephanie, Barbara, and Cass. (Dick and Barbara are definitely married in this one.) She also found it extremely easy to figure out her Damian was Robin, who she always caught stopping by on the roof across from her building.
Chloe bonds phenomenally with Stephanie; the two girls are practically glued at the hip. They spend almost all their time together, and while they don't voice it, the majority of the family had a feeling they were dating.
Soon after Chloe discovers their secret as well. They both decided not to tell them they knew because both girls knew how important secret identities were. The only people that knew Marinette was a hero was Cass and Alfred, and that was because Cass had noticed Tikki and Alfred was Duusuu's holder a long time ago.
The three bond phenomenally well, so much so that Damian is worried Cass may steal his Marinette.
Soon the end of summer is on them and Damian finally asks Marinette to be his girlfriend and she agrees. They are now Gotham's power couple. Pictures and videos of them are everywhere on the news and Twitter.
There are even Tiktoks of them while they're out in public. Marinette's favorite is them dancing in the rain one day both laughing and smiling brightly as some kids join them.
Marinette is named Gotham's new Princess and is praised by Damian's old classmates for breaking through and making the 'Ice Prince' smile and laugh.
Soon after Chloe and Stephanie announce that they are dating as well. Both couples are all over the news and papers.
Halfway through their first year of college Lex Luthor is named President of the United States. This causes the heros to panic however they make no moves instead they begin building a case against him. This comes to a halt when the entire Batfamily is cut off from them. An earthquake wreaks Gotham killing millions and destroying the city and the bridges giving them access to the rest of the states. President Luthor locks down Gotham essentially giving up on the city and allowing no outside contact or help.
It's during this period of time that Marinette and Chloe reveal they know their identities by crashing a meeting in the Batcave.
Marinette- Yes, yes, we know and will explain later, but right now I have a plan on how to get Gotham back on its feet.
Marinette's plan relies heavily on her and Bruce's businesses. The Wayne family and Marinette are going to rebuild Gotham from the bottom up. She tells Bruce that publicly Batman is going to hand over the only way of communication outside of Gotham over to Bruce Wayne during a press conference. Then Bruce will announce their plans of using this resource to continue to bring money into the city through him and Marinette. The family is going to be hiring clean up crews, medical workers, and construction workers to rebuild their city. Marinette and Bruce focus mainly on bringing in money. Jason's focus is on helping orphans, street kids, and newly made orphans. Setting up better Orphanages with better staff and making sure no kid is a meal ticket. Dick's focus is on getting the police force back up with Gordon's help and weeding out as many corrupt cops. Tim focuses on hiring construction workers and clean up crews getting Gotham cleaned up and starting reconstruction. Cass is the one helping find more medical personnel and working with getting hospitals up and going. Damian personally spoke with Gothams bigger villains in Arkham explaining what happened and what Luthor is trying to do. Thanks to him Arkham is pretty much guaranteed no breakouts. In fact many were surprised to see henchmen from different villains joining in on the clean up. Kate also helps out working hard to get electricity back up and running with electricians  while making sure no down wires are active. Stephanie and Chloe are praised for getting out and helping the clean up crews as well as the police with finding bodys of missing citizens.
It takes over a year but the Wayne family, Marinette, and Chloe get Gotham back on its feet better than ever. And they use Luthor's abandonment of Gotham to get him impeached. After they've finally reopened Gotham to the rest of the states, Bruce throws a city wide party. He even sends special catering to Arkham asylum as thanks to the villains for not just remaining there but sending their henchmen out to help.
Bruce gives a big thanks to everyone for all their help with rebuilding their beautiful city.
It's shortly after his speech Damian and Marinette are enjoying the small fair that Bruce paid for. They are walking through the game area sharing cotton candy when Damian gets lost in the moment and asks her to marry him. Marinette laughs pulling him into a deep kiss causing citizens around them to start cheering. She waits until they've quieted down before pulling back.
Marinette-Yes Damian, I'll marry you!
This causes citizens to burst into cheers again. All of them giving their cities power couple their congratulations. While Damian is embarrassed saying that he doesn't have a ring for her. Marinette just smiles and kisses him softly telling him not having a ring isn't a big deal because she would have said yes either way.
A few minutes later a soft spoken Hispanic woman exits her jewelry booth giving them two small rings.
The woman-This is for until he finally gets you one Miss. Free of charge, consider it a thanks for helping my city and a congratulations present.
She squeezes both their hands smiling softly at the two and congratulates them before leaving them.
After the city party, they finally address Marinette and Chloe knowing their identities. It happens at Marinette's rebuilt penthouse. Marinette smiles telling them that it was the Kwami that really pointed it out to her. While Chloe tells them she caught Stephanie in her outfit one night and just pretended she had been asleep the entire time. Everyone but Alfred is confused about the Kwami until Marinette asks them to come out. The Kwami fly in spreading around the room, Duusuu sits calmly on Alfred's shoulder, Pollen resting herself in Chloe's hair, while Tikki and Plagg float by Marinette's shoulders.
Marinette-Let me introduce you to Kwami. Gods and Goddesses that grant their chosens their powers. Tikki and Plagg are the two most powerful Destruction and Bad Luck, Creation and Good Luck. I'm Tikki's chosen, I am-
Tim-Ladybug...you're Paris's missing heros.
Marinette sighs softly nodding thinking about her last day as Ladybug
Chloe- I was Honeywell for a short while until I moved to america. Pollen and I were a great team.
Pollen petting her hair gently-We were the best my Queen.
Marinette-Paris started relying on me for everything. The police stopped doing their jobs and when I finally defeated the villain that was plaguing them, it wasn't enough. I loved being a hero but they expected me to do everything. You all know that it isn't possible to do everything.
Bruce asks why she never went out as Ladybug. Marinette smiles and tells him that while she misses it she knew that this was Batman's city and that metas weren't allowed.
Marinette-I know technically I'm not one, but Tikki gives me powers.
After that Marinette begins to train with Bruce so that she can hit the streets with them, without the Miraculous. Chloe while learning how to fight with Stephanie declines becoming a vigilante with them. Marinette loves every second of it, she loves actually having a mentor to teach her. And it felt nice to have a father figure in her life once again. Six months later she is joining the family for her first night of patrol as BlackBird.
Blackbird spends most of her time with Batwomem, on patrol and missions. Her first big villain was Riddler, however before he could even utter a riddle Blackbird tore into him for his terrible outfit. To the point that Riddler practically threw himself at Batman in tears crying and telling him his new protégé was mean.
Blackbird is a rising hero in Gotham and the hero community. Soon she begins attending Justice League meetings with the others considering joining. It is there she meets Wonder Women, and asks how her mother is doing. Diana realizes quickly that she is speaking with a Guardian and finds out later that Blackbird is the current Ladybug as well.
The family also begins planning Damian and Marinette's public wedding and their private wedding. Stephanie is the one that asks her if she wants to have the private wedding in Paris, everyone only a little surprised she straight out refuses.
Marinette-I said goodbye all that time ago, and I don't think I wish to return.
That night she asks Bruce to walk her down the aisle along with her grandfather. When asked about her own parents Marinette smiles sadly telling them that they no longer consider her their daughter, so they were not invited. Bruce smiles softly brushing Marinette's hair down gently with his hand before agreeing to walk her. She asks Chloe to be her Maid of Honor and Kate, Cass, and Stephanie to be her Bridesmaid
Three weeks later they are sending out invites to people for their private wedding in 6 months and the public one in a year.
Marinette asks Jagged and Luka to be the entertainment for both nights and they agree. Sabine and Tom are not invited; they find out when Gina shows up excited asking why they never told her Marinette had met someone in America. They are even more surprised to find out Rolland is closing up shop and going to the wedding as well. Gina is upset to find out they kicked Marinette out and tears into them. At this point Lila comes into the bakery and tries to sway Gina onto her side. Gina just scoffs and shakes her head, telling her she'd never believe another girl over her granddaughter.
Gina storms out of the bakery refusing to talk to her son or daughter-in-law. After she leaves they google their daughter trying to find out who she is engaged to, they find out everything about Marinette helping rebuild Gotham out of her own pocket with the help of Bruce Wayne, and her engagement to Damian Wayne.
They try every attempt to contact her even going through old friends only to find she changed her number. They don't hear anything more of her until a year later when their wedding is broadcast from Gotham. Tom cries when Marinette is escorted down the aisle by her Grandfather and Bruce Wayne. She stops hugging them both tightly before taking Damian's hands, their eyes unable to leave each other, as they say their vows.
Marinette- Before I even had colleges lined up one of my best friends told me to follow the call. A few weeks later three colleges accepted me, but only one kept calling me back, Gotham University. I couldn't stop researching the city, I couldn't get it out of my head. It was like something was waiting for me here, so I decided to accept Gotham University. I moved here with one of my friends expecting an adventure. I didn't think my adventure would lead me to the love of my life, but it did. I love you Damian, with all my heart. My next adventure is standing by your side till the end of time.
Damian- Marinette Wayne, no I did not mess up. Marinette, you have been a part of my family since the moment you placed your hand on my shoulder and pointed out Mr. Tennor was about to be slapped. Our entire first night together felt magical as cheesy as it sounds. Every day after was amazing, I couldn't believe I met someone as amazing as you. When the earthquake happened and you stepped up helping my family rebuild the city, I knew I wanted you by my side for the rest of my life. So much so that I proposed to you spur of the moment in the middle of the fair, I will forever be grateful that you agreed to marry me. My heart, body, and soul belong to you and solely you Marinette till the end of time.
When the priest pronounces them husband and wife and announces the kiss Marinette grabs his face gently pulling him down into a deep kiss.
The reception is also broadcast to the public with many famous people offering their congratulations to the happy couple to the camera before heading into the party. Marinette and Damian are the last to arrive and while they don't talk to the camera they stop posing together for the camera. Both unwilling to even leave the other side. Throughout the reception all the speeches are broadcasted. The final speech is from the newly married couple. Both of them thanking everyone that came to the wedding. Telling them that they wouldn't be where they were without their friends and family in the room. They share a sweet kiss in front of the crowd at the end of their speech.
Chloe moves into an apartment with Stephanie, while Damian moves into Marinette's penthouse. They are hardly seen separate from each other, pictures of them together are all over the internet and news.
Damian also leaves the title of Robin behind becoming Redbird becoming partners with Blackbird. The two partners are soon dubbed the new Dynamic Duo of Gotham.
They both graduate college together, Damian going into Wayne Enterprises taking over as Ceo with Tim when Bruce steps down. While Marinette built her own fashion empire soon rivaling Audrey's. Her fashion is known around the world, but out of all the cities the most of her sales come from Gotham. Gothamites still not forgetting the young adult that spent billions to help them rebuild.
Soon Marinette and Damian discover that Marinette is pregnant. The two are ecstatic to be parents, Marinette begs Bruce to hold a big family dinner with everyone, and he agrees. Halfway through dinner Bruce finally asks why Marinette called all of them together. Marinette smiles softly before announcing that she is pregnant.
The family burst into cheers, everyone extremely excited and talking with each other about what the baby's name would be.
A few months later they find out its twins. One boy and one girl. They agree on the names Thomas John Wayne and Mary Martha Wayne. This causes both Bruce and Dick to tear up when told.
When the twins are born they are all Gothamites can talk about. The new Wayne twins, everyone can't wait to watch them grow up.
In Paris their grandparents hold on to pictures they find online, knowing they'll never get to know them. That they'll never get to see their daughter again either.

I know nothing about miraculous ladybug besides from what I’ve seen from the wiki and reviews but- there are too many miraculouses and kwamis. They should just be reduced to seven at least (Ladybug, Cat, Bee, Turtle, Fox, Peacock and Butterfly) for the sake of the plot and if there has to be other miraculous users; they should stay as permanent members of the main cast. I hate how the miraculous are treated as nothing more than Mario power ups instead of something greatly earned with time.
i wish i were you, anon. wish i knew nothing about this mess. it has me frothing at the mouth on a near-daily basis and the absolute worst problem of it is the size of the cast.
like there are show that handle a huge cast of characters really, really well, Avatar comes to mind first. But MLB just...doesn't. It introduces more and more characters and powers and this and that and them and those instead of working with what they already have.
it's just. it's such a waste.

Husband Watches Heroes Day
Hell yeah he’s finally finishing Season 2!!!!
how does Adrien’s giant ass window open so easily?
why is it always macarons? don’t her parents make anything else?
wait. he has like seven different fucking things for mourning his dead wife? Like three in his office and then a statue out there and then his actual wife in the basement??
Is this the episode that shows that Nathalie knows what Gabriel’s doing? ...wow she wants his dumb dick
Lila’s background looks so fake
[Damocles is the Owl and husband just groans] I need stronger alcohol for this.
[...he just chugged straight 40% liqueur]
This is just all the worst parts of the show one after another! Wait, no. The one saving grace is that Luka isn’t in it.
Marinette you’re overpromising
Marinette. You’re also a baker.
Why is Gabriel’s neckerchief like the American flag
So does he breed butterflies just to akumatize people?
Wait...she can’t be Volpina, she doesn’t have the necklace. [transforms] That doesn’t make sense.
so why isn’t Hawkmoth sending out more akumas
So he’s giving Nathalie a decreased version of his own power?
[Scarlet Moth exists] oh that’s horrible looking
[”Nothing can spoil the party!”] What about an army of akumas?
Marinette you’re gonna have to skip school if you wanna make that many
So now they’re reusing all their old assets. But they’re RED.
fucking piece of shit Fu
wait Plagg can just destroy things by breathing on them?? he really is death and destruction in a tiny cute package
So how come Hawkmoth hasn’t just taken Adrien’s jewelry? [because he’d have to pay attention to his son then] Oh, right
Sabrina looks weird without her glasses
You’re gonna need multiple allies for this one, girl
Why do you even have the turtle miraculous if you never use it you old useless fuck
[Rena and Carapace reveal] Okay this is actually a really cute moment
[Chat giving Chloe the miraculous] He’s getting a lot of fun out of teasing her.
Mayura? [it means peacock in Sanskrit] WHY SANSKRIT
why didn’t they just make this a special like the Christmas bullshit
I have many questions. Why did he get rid of Volpina already? oh wait. Why was Volpina the same even though she didn’t have the necklace?
This entire series could’ve been avoided if Gabriel just went to grief counseling.
I just wanna see a giant lizard come in and chomp Hawkmoth in half.
...why can the baby talk?
oh, fuck, they’re Power Rangers. that was a Power Rangers speech.
I don’t like red Stormy Weather.
Where’s Alix and her dumb time power bullshit?
Wait is that Kagami?
Fuck off Rogercop
You should recruit Kagami, she could be pretty helpful here.
oh fuck Despair Bear
you know what would be real helpful? A master of the miraculouses or something. If only there was someone like that...
[sewer scene!]Plagg really does care for Adrien.
Might not be the best idea to untransform them while they’re in the middle of sewer water!
oh boy, ice bitch.
you wanna know who’d be a really good help right now? Nora and her fighting experience.
Why is Marinette’s grandmother here?
How is this episode both really good and really terrible at the same time?
oh hey Volpina’s back
aand Kim’s dead.
aaand he’s not dead.
did Hawkmoth just clothesline his kid
[Mayura appears] That’s a really pretty outfit.
well that’s just Mothra but evil.
So, the peacock drains her life force?
[Gabe touches Nathalie’s hand] WHAT IS THEIR RELATIONSHIP
been a while since we had dumb Marinette moments.
how is Marc so fucking cute
Holy shit progress on the main fucking couple!

A rather long explanation of why I don't like the Bee. Aka why I think making clones would be a better power.
Aaaah. The Bee. That nice yellow comb. Such a nice design I have to say. I remember that time, years ago, when I was still a newbie, when we didn't even know the Fox was a necklace... what a time.
When there were only seven Miraculouses, theories were vastly common. People looked up symbolism and made theories or just decided cool abilities to write with. Then Sapotis, in Season 2, changed the picture. The Zodiacs were revealed and people lost interest because instead of (then) four unknown Miraculous, there were like fifteen to do research for. I understand why some people use common abilities for Miraculouses tho, it's perfectly fine! It's just, I prefer more complex abilities.
I'm a writer, I've been writing Miraculous things for four years. And you all realise how much I like writing about the Miraculouses.
Yeah, so the Bee, there were many theories. I did have a theory that it would be paralysation, but not in a venom sense. It would've been crystalised honey and it could only paralyse an arm or a leg or something. I didn't like it that much so I started searching. Some people gave her flying, building things or even mind-controlling; but what I liked was this one: cloning.
Why?
It makes sense. Bees, along with ants and wasps, are known for their social structure. Bees in particular have some "roles", and they're known for that. What comes to mind is the concept of coordination, at least for me. Worker bees, abundance, collaboration, all that. A cloning power would require someone to have lots of spatial vision, body control and coordination, especially considering my headcanon where the Bee's clones replicate the main Bee's moves.
It made sense. Back when Sapotis was released, many of us noticed something: Marinette's first idea wasn't using the Fox. It was using the Bee. I admit it was such a vague thought, tho. "If the Sapotis clone themselves, maybe Marinette thought about a cloning Miraculous right before realising it would take too much time?".
It is versatile enough for me to write. My criteria for Miracupowers is that they can't make fights too easy. Cloning can facilitate many things, but it can be useless, misused, not needed, and very hard to control. And, most importantly, you can do many things with it. Distract someone? Yeah. Block a street? Probably. Fight support? Totally. Someone has to do a thing in two different places? Oddly specific, but it totally can happen.
So yeah, my version of the Bee functions like the Double Cherry from Mario 3D World. I admit I took ideas from that concept. I find it nice to write and versatile enough to make fights interesting.
But then, the actual Bee appeared. And I hate it. So much.
For me, it doesn't make sense. Since when are bees associated with subjection? However, if we look at the French concept, this makes more sense... kinda. In French, it is the Miraculous of Domination. Queen bees are associated with domination. But I don't really think domination and paralyzing go in hand. It's just... I don't like paralyzation for the Bee, especially since I'd prefer worker bees instead. And, as many have noted, domination works better with wasps! And the new Bee holder is wasp-coded. Canon Bee should be the Wasp Miraculous.
Why tf did Marinette think of one (1) paralyzing opportunity to fight an entire army of Sapotis? If someone has an idea then please tell me because I literally do not understand why they made Marinette doubt there.
It makes fights too easy. Bee totally paralyzes someone for five minutes... and, I guess, and adult user can paralyze eternally? This is totally OP and, unlike the Cat, it doesn't have any consequence. Cat is totally OP, but at least it cannot be abused like that because... people die. But the Bee totally can. Just bring the Bee. Paralyze the Akuma. Boom. No conflict. Unless very specific situations like Kagami's last Akuma which used a tweak of the same power. What do you do with paralysation? You paralyse things... and that's all? Is there any fight application aside from paralysing the villain?
I will never never never work with the canon Bee lmao. I find it so unoriginal and unfitting.
So my Bee represents Cooperation and for someone to be a good holder, they have to have a very developed spatial vision and body coordination to operate properly with their clones, as they imitate anything they do. So they should be a fast thinker and have strong visualization abilities in order to move the clones properly and learn how to fight with them. I think someone like Max would be a good Bee, because he has an amazing maths capability and probably, or at least I headcanon, lots of physics knowledge. So he could plan fastly how to move in order to execute his plan (overall Max is a very nice holder, I think). Or maybe someone like Nath, who is used to drawing movement so he probably has a developed spatial intelligence. And probably sporty people are good, but they'd have to have a strong concentration so maybe Kim and Alix are rather funny. So yeah, Bee!Max and Bee!Nath can work, at least with how I headcanon them both.
Alt!Bee is probably my most solid Miraculous and I feel like I will never change the cloning idea lmao. So yeah miss me with the Rat having it :)
By the way, I hate the Rat too! Why does it have two abilities? Multiplication, which is its concept, AND shrinking. I understand why, don't get me wrong, it's just that Multiplication and reduction could perfectly be different things. And I hate how clones do whatever they want. Does the holder control them? If so, how? Is there a limited number of clones? I headcanon four clones (because Miraculouses are 5-themed, which all the five minutes shit, so 4 clones + holder makes a team of 5) that imitate the holder's movements. I really would like some clarification, especially on the controlling part lmao.
So yeah, I think my rant ends here?
If you've read all of this, I love you. Please comment something. I'm begging you.

Best Friends
Part 1 (here) • Part 2
-
Marinette and Adrien were childhood friends.
No scratch that. They were childhood best friends.
The kind of best friends who insulted each other at every chance they got, the kind of best friends who barged into the other's house and called their parents 'Mom' and 'Dad', the kind of best friends who stole clothes from each other whenever they could, and the kind of best friends who got matching t-shirts.
How did they meet, you may ask?
Gabriel Agreste was moody. He was starting his own business at the age of 24, but so far, there were next to no customers. His wife, Emilie, supported him fully and commissioned pieces from him, but it wasn't the same.
He needed coffee.
He walked around Paris, stopping by the nearest café, which was called Tom and Sabine's Patisserie (a/n: not sure if thats accurate).
He stepped into the quaint store and could immediately smell the rich chocolatey scent of cocoa, as well as fresh baked pastries and cookies.
Gabriel's mouth watered and he made his way over to the counter, when he realised his wife was sitting at the counter, chatting with a large man in an apron holding a rolling pin.
Gabriel strode over to the two, before clearing his throat.
Emilie looked startled before looking towards her husband.
'Oh! Gabriel, what are you doing here?'
'I came for a coffee.' He said dryly.
The large man let out a bout of laughter before a short blue haired lady made her way over to the three, holding a cup of coffee.
The man picked the coffee out of the woman's hands, before placing it on the counter in front of Gabriel and wrapping an arm around the lady.
'I'm Sabine, and this is my husband, Tom.' She gestured towards her husband.
'This is my husband, Gabriel.' Emilie pointed towards the man in question, giving him a small poke in the ribs when he continued to regard the couple with cool indifference.
Gabriel started and reached into his pocket to pull out his wallet, when a large hand stopped him.
'It's on the house.'
Gabriel, Emilie, Tom and Sabine spent the next hour chatting with each other (even if it took a while for Gabriel to loosen up around them), the shop owners occasionally having to leave to help customers.
It ended up with a customer coming in, and noting Gabriel's outfit, asked him if he designed it himself.
He had nodded and the customer smiled, before commissioning him to make the customer a new dress for an upcoming gala, and eventually led to the Agreste brand becoming famous worldwide.
Gabriel, Emilie, Sabine and Tom became extremely close friends after that, Gabriel believing that it was partially Sabine and Tom's bakery that had led to his big break.
Once Gabriel had made enough money, he paid for the bakery to move somewhere nearer to the new Agreste manor, in a bigger place, and paid for an apartment to be on top of the bakery, for convenience.
The two had protested against Gabriel spending money on them, but he persisted and now Agreste brand were the main sponsors of the bakery, paying for bakery rent and ingredients, while Sabine and Tom paid for their apartment rent.
When Emilie had Adrien, and Sabine had Marinette, the two had shared a hospital room after the birth was given. Adrien was a day older than Marinette and the new mothers promised to let their kids play together often.
When Marinette and Adrien were 5, they met at the bakery, coincidentally. Adrien had wandered up the steps to Marinette, who was struggling to make her way downstairs to her parents.
Their parents panicked when they couldn't find their kids, but relaxed when they found the two kids sleeping on the couch in the apartment. How they got there no one knew.
When Adrien turned 9, Emilie had disappeared. Dead, in a coma, travelling-- no one knew where she had gone. Adrien was heartbroken and Marinette was there to comfort him.
During this time, Gabriel had started falling into what he was before meeting Emilie-- cold, indifferent and uncaring. Adrien suffered the brunt of his father's sudden coldness, but took it all in stride with the support of Marinette, who had yelled at the elder Agreste, telling him to treat his son better.
Gabriel, who wouldn't admit it but was slightly scared of the bluenette, remained indifferent to everyone other than Sabine, Tom, Marinette and Adrien.
Marinette and Adrien had become closer than ever, and it was rare to see them apart anymore, they were almost joined at the hip.
Most of their clothes were idiotic and funny, most made by Marinette, who had been taught by Gabriel how to design and make clothes when she was 10.
(Their favorites were Marinette in a red t shirt with the words 'Mari Memes' and Adrien in a black one with 'Adrien Puns'.)
When the two were 10, they were enrolled in the nearby school, Francois Dupont, and spent their whole time there together, becoming close friends with Alix, Kim and Nino, who had a chemistry like Adrien and Marinette.
The two had met Chloe Bourgeois, the Mayor's daughter, when they were following Gabriel to a meeting with the mayor.
The three had hit it off, bonding over their families (Audrey and Andre had coincidentally met at the bakery too, but they just weren't as close.) And the three became friends.
Chloe had joined Francois Dupont a few weeks after Marinette and Adrien, and the three were good friends at school, although Chloe had her own best friend, a girl named Sabrina.
Sabine and Tom had taken to calling the duo Madri (May-dree), a combination of both Adrien and Marinette, after they got lazy to call both Adrien and Marinette.
The two had made a joint Twitter account when they were 12, called @/MadrisCenter and became famous and verified within a year for their 'sheer funny-ness and badass-ery'.
No one knew who the two were other than the two themselves.
It was then when the two started communicating through their expressions, just because they knew each other extremely well.
When Mari and Adrien were 13, Gabriel had pulled Adrien out of school to be homeschooled by his new assistant, Nathalie Sancouer.
Marinette and Adrien weren't able to see each other as often, since they didn't have school together anymore, Adrien started to model his father's designs and Mari making her own design website and persona, MDC.
Instead of seeing each other everyday, they had started seeing each other twice a week. When Adrien had left, Marinette had withdrawn into her shell, becoming the shy and quiet student.
When Adrien had left, Chloe helped Marinette get through everything and eventually Marinette was back to the outspoken meme making girl, although she only did that around her close friends.
When they were 14 and a new class was starting, with Alix, Kim, Nino, Chloe, Sabrina and Marinette together, they decided to split up into different personalities and keep it that way until Adrien came back.
Chloe had adopted a 'Queen Bitch' attitude, Sabrina a meek servant one, Alix and Kim playful rivals, Nino the shy DJ and Marinette the shy quiet girl.
Conveniently for them, their previous teacher had left and was replaced with a new teacher named Mlle. Bustier.
A year later and no one suspected the six having any close relationships, especially since Chloe had taken to teasing Marinette.
But when they were 15, Chloe had texted them all.
'Adrien's coming back!'
Everyone was excited for the model's return, even if Marinette still saw him every other day.
The day passed and Adrien didn't show up, much to the group's disappointment. They couldn't wait to let go and be themselves again.
The day after that, Adrien had shown up in the middle of roll call, and the group couldn't contain themselves and pounced on the blonde, Marinette jumping on his shoulders as she always did.
Alya, who thought of herself as Marinette's 'bestie', jumped and glared at the boy.
Marinette knew Alya took people not telling her things as an insult and it annoyed the bluenette because she thought that everyone was entitled to their own secrets.
Mlle. Bustier was shocked at the normally quiet students in loud laughter playfully hanging out together, with Chloe and Marinette getting along, the latter riding Adrien's shoulders.
Once they got settled, the seven explained themselves to the class, and Alya sulked in her seat when Marinette moved to the back to sit with Adrien.
-
Part 2 will be when the two get their miraculouses and will be up sometime tomorrow probably
-
this isnt the best but i had this idea in class and it isnt original but oh well
also can someone suggest a better title

Cry of the Siren
Summary: Marinette considers herself a different sort of pirate, what with her having morals and a just cause. While Adrien doesn't much fit into the expectations his people have of mermaids such as himself. Backed into a corner by an arranged marriage, he leaves his home behind to brave the open sea, only for a dire injury to leave him stranded on human shores. And so when Marinette finds him and hauls him aboard her ship, he finds himself trapped in a world far removed from his own.
But perhaps the sea carried them together for a reason. Fate, after all, is never clear-cut, nor easily read.

Chapter I
"Grandfather, when will mother and father be back?" Standing in the crooked doorway, the young girl frowned, her hands balled into fists around her dirtied skirts. Before her, a small man with salt and pepper hair and a finely-trimmed, pointed beard was observing a map, which was laid upon a thick, wooden table.
Turning his attention to the girl, he smiled. It was a warm smile, if not somewhat restrained, and was invitation enough for the young girl to approach him.
"They'll be back in due time, young Marinette," he assured, reaching out to her as he did. She took his hand when she met him, allowing him to pull her up into his lap. "Your mother is a very important woman and she has much to do."
"But what about Father?"
"Well, your father must help her."
Pooching her lips in a pout, Marinette twirled her finger inside the fastens upon her grandfather's jacket. "I would like to help too."
"And what help could you be?" he asked, smiling wider as he did. "You're only five years old."
"I'm seven!"
"Seven?! Why, I had no idea."
She cast him a rather flat look. "You're lying, grandfather."
"And why would I do that?"
"To distract me."
He chuckled. "You are still much too young to be of help to your mother."
"I can't understand why. I take care of you well enough."
He laughed again. "That you do."
Humming, she seemed to slump a bit in his hold, quite forlorn despite their cheery conversation.
"What does Mother do, when she and Father leave?"
The grandfather seemed to contemplate the question for some moments, seriousness overtaking his countenance. And though there was a certain degree hesitation in the way he pursed his lips, he ultimately gave in despite whatever objections were raised inside his thoughts.
Resituating Marinette upon his lap, he looked her in the eyes and was relieved to see the same steadiness in her expression that her mother had possessed at the same age.
"She has gone out to find that which we have lost," he started. "Our family line is special, do you know that?" Reaching out, he took Marinette's hand and flipped it palm-up, so he could run a gentle finger along the visible veins of her wrist. "And our blood is the key."
"Our blood?"
"A long, long time ago, one of our ancestors came upon a magic jewel. And inside that jewel was the very power that created the entire world. But there was also a spirit, and that spirit was afraid of what would happen if her power fell into the wrong hands. Sensing that our ancestor was of pure heart and mind, she tied herself to her, and through her, all her children and their children's children. All the way down to us. And because this spirit was the most powerful of them all, other spirits soon gathered to her, granting power to our ancestors and any who they deemed worthy. But!" He held up a knowing finger. "Soon, other people started to hear about these powers, and they wanted it for themselves. Afraid of what would happen, our ancestor gathered all the spirits together, swearing to hide them away and protect them."
"A guardian," Marinette replied. "Like you. And Mother."
"Yes. But the jewels—the spirits—couldn't stay hidden forever, and some of them have been lost. By the time the magic box that hid them was passed down to me, only nine of the jewels remained. But they were some of the most powerful, and I knew that if I didn't keep them safe, they'd fall into the wrong hands. So your mother and I—when she was yet younger than you—took a boat all the way from China and around the world, to a place where we could live safely with the jewels.
"But greed exists all over the world, though I tried to fight it. The jewels were stolen, and so now we must find them all, before someone uses them to do great evil."
"So Mother is looking for these jewels?"
"She is. She must."
"How does she know where to look?"
He smiled. "Because of our connection to the most powerful jewel. You can't feel it now, but when you're older, you'll learn how to sense that connection as well."
"I will?"
"Yes. As is your mother's responsibility, and as it is mine—and as it was all our ancestors before us—you must learn to use your abilities to find the jewels, to guard them, and to only use their power when wrongs must be righted and justice served."
"And then I'll be able to go with Mother and Father?"
He smiled. "Yes, I would certainly think so. It's in your blood, Marinette. You are a guardian, and so you must never rest—not until all the miraculouses have been found.
"That, my child, is your destiny."
Gasping, Marinette surged up in bed. Breathing heavily, she blinked against the thick weight yet lingering in the back of her head, the dream—or memory—seeming to shift away as swiftly as it had come. Yet, even as the exact images and words faded, the general purpose remained. Like a brand yet hot upon her flesh, she could feel the echoes of it all up and down her body. All the way down to her bones.
She would not be able to return to sleep, not this night. Blinking a few more times, she allowed her eyes to adjust to the darkness before she tossed her blanket aside and threw her legs over the edge of her bed. Clad in only her loose-fitting linen shirt, she toed forward to the table in the center of her quarters, retrieving the breeches hung over the back of a chair before slipping them on. Tucking her shirt clumsily inside the band, she barely bothered to tighten them before stuffing her feet in her worn leather boots and marching out the door.
Accustomed to the layout of the brig and the motion of the sea, she quickly made her way through the dark. Just down the main deck, before rounding the stairs and heading up into the chilly night.
Salty sea air assaulted her full force, but she was so accustomed to it after years at sea that she hardly registered the feeling. Ignoring how the wind tossed her hair about, she headed across the upper deck to the stairs that led up to the forecastle. Once there, she headed to the upper right side, to the thick, wooden banister lining the bow of the brig. Leaning out, she took a deep breath of the salty air and closed her eyes.
The feelings inspired by her dream yet lingered, but they were fading fast. So fast that she feared she would be unable to dissect them. But such a thing was not unheard of, despite it causing her some annoyance. Though she had worn the ladybug earrings for 'years now, her connection to the miraculouses as a whole waned in and out, much as the tide did.
It was her job to make the most of whatever she happened to sense, no matter the time of day or night.
"Captain?" The voice had her popping her eyes open again, turning her head over her shoulder. There stood Alya, her best friend and quartermaster of the brig. "Is everything alright?"
Turning back to the sea, Marinette pursed her lips. "Someone has come across a miraculous. Two, I think, based on the heaviness of my dreams."
Alya came up beside her, crossing her arms over her chest as she frowned. "Then someone has beat us to them."
"We didn't have any leads," Marinette said, doing her best to hide her bitterness. "It was only a matter of time."
"Perhaps they will become known to us, then," Alya reasoned. "Much as Luka did. The miraculouses are drawn to each other, are they not? To you?"
"Drawn in, yes, but to what end we can't know." Sighing, Marinette stepped back from the banister. "We will have to keep a keen eye out—there's no way of knowing whose hands these miraculouses have fallen into, or in what… manner… they may make themselves known to us."
"You think it could be that Hawkmoth has found them?"
Pursing her lips, Marinette turned her attention back to the sea. "Let us hope that is not the case, else we will find ourselves at a grave disadvantage."
One that could prove near impossible to overcome.
oOo
Adrien was bored. Which wasn't really new, per se, but it was certainly tiresome. He knew he had a responsibility—stay inside, primp his appearance, don't get hurt. All these things would guarantee an advantageous mating. He was lucky, after all, to be as blessed with such beauty, much as his mother had been. He'd create beautiful children, no doubt, and his privileged upbringing would make him a doting father and a quiet, obedient partner.
"Blah, blah, blah," Adrien muttered, slowly sinking down in front of his full-length mirror. His qualifications for being a good mate seemed to run continuously through his head these days, but not because he had any interest in thinking about them. Alas, everyone he knew seemed to be reminding him, excited about the fact that he'd reached mating age and would soon be leaving for a new home with his future wife.
He had to be careful not to let his tail get dingy, and keep his fins sparkling at all times. He should wear more jewelry, to draw attention to himself when he was out in public. The more notice he drew, the more potential mates he'd have interested in him at the ceremony.
"Maybe I don't want a mate," he muttered, looking his reflection up and down as he did.
Aside from being male, he did indeed look very much like his mother. Soft blonde hair, bright green eyes. He was stronger than she had been, despite everyone constantly chiding him for being active when he should have been prioritizing a thin, smooth physique. Yet, his father had never stopped him taking up physical activities, so long as he'd remained within their home when he'd practiced them. He had a few more muscles where most didn't as a result, which made him a little less "desirable."
His tail and fins more than made up for that, however. Long and of a vibrant green that matched his eyes, his tail was the longest of any other siren—or long-fin—his age, while his bright, yellow fins shimmered in much the same way golden jewelry did in the water. His tail fins were dual layered and fanned out generously when he bothered to go to the effort, as could the two sets of pelvic fins that flared around his hips and the single set of fibular fins sprouting out beneath them. The bright yellow did fade to dark green at the very edges, but the dual color-scheme only made him "all the prettier."
Truth be told, however, Adrien didn't much care that he was considered the prettiest siren of his generation. Or that his quiet demeanor was one of the main personality traits people talked about.
He didn't hate that he was a siren, but he didn't enjoy it either. Sometimes—like that very evening—he'd find himself staring in the mirror, wanting nothing more than to reach down and rip his pelvic fins right off his body with his claws. Maybe shred his tail fins even. It'd be painful, sure, but if he was marred and scarred, no one would want him. He wouldn't have to worry about how dirty he got or how much jewelry he wore or if he had enough suitors. He could be like the plain sirens that married lower class merrows—short-fins. His mating ceremony wouldn't be a big deal and there wouldn't be any worry about offers being made because he'd be more worried about not having any.
As it was, he'd likely have too many, and he'd ultimately have to pick one of them.
"What are you groaning about now?" It was Plagg who asked. He was some kind of tiny, demon-like creature that claimed to be a "kwami." Adrien didn't know what a kwami was, but supposed they must all be small creatures with disproportionately large heads.
Plagg claimed that he resembled what humans called a "cat," but as Adrien had never seen a cat, he couldn't much relate.
The kwami had appeared from a ring Adrien had found, and that he now wore at all times.
"It's my mating ceremony tomorrow," he explained, sinking fully down onto the ground. Laying atop the cold stone, he twisted his tail around his body and glared side-ways at his own reflection.
"What's that?" Plagg asked, swimming up so he could stare directly down into Adrien's eyes. It was a regular thing, Plagg invading Adrien's space.
Not that he minded.
"I'm eighteen now," he said, turning so he could stare blankly up at the domed ceiling of his bedroom. "It means I'm old enough to be mated. And because my father is so highly regarded, it's important that I pick someone suited to my status."
"Doesn't sound so bad," Plagg decided. "I bet there'll be plenty of girls with fins prettier than yours just dying to get with you."
Adrien cast the black kwami a curious look. "Doubtful. Why would another siren be allowed to mate with me?"
"Is that not how it works?"
Adrien curled his nose. "No. I'll be paraded around like some… pretty trinket. All the female merrows will be swarming just to get a look at me, and I'll have to smile and pretend like I'm enjoying it."
"Wait, so…" Plagg twitched his head to the side thoughtfully, "it doesn't matter that you're a boy?"
"Why would me being a boy have anything to do with it?"
"That's just how humans are," Plagg explained, shrugging his tiny shoulders as he did. "It's their women that have to look pretty and pristine in order to be married off."
Adrien scowled. "Boy or girl doesn't matter. I'm a siren—a long-fin; a soft-fin. It's in the title—I'm soft. And pretty. And delicate. And demure. A fine prize for some warrior female to keep tucked away in her home to care for her eggs and prepare meals and, ugh, just… be bored for the rest of my life." Except when his wife was there, because he'd be expected to serve her and do as she said and submit himself both body and mind.
He didn't want to submit himself. He was…
Afraid.
"Huh, okay. I guess I get it," Plagg replied. "Well, can't you just refuse anyone you don't like?"
"No," Adrien muttered. "My father has already received three letters of purpose from upstanding families whose daughters are interested. They're all in line to be future mertriarchs. One of them might even end up leading the whole clan. It's a great 'honor' that such important merrows would be interested in me. It's because I'm so 'beautiful.' The perfect ornament for someone's home. If I refuse them all, it'll come off like I'm some stuck-up brat, which will diminish my prospects and could even hurt my father's reputation."
"Sounds like you're between a rock and a hard place, kid."
"I don't want to be mated…" What if he ended up with a wife that, while wealthy, was… cruel? He knew it happened, even if it wasn't much talked about. Sirens were expected to mind their mates. His wife would have the legal right to hurt him, even kill him if she so wanted. His life didn't mean anything more than the value of how pretty he could look beside her. And the number of both strong and beautiful babies he could provide.
Some sirens hardly ever left the home because they were constantly incubating eggs. Some weren't allowed to leave even if they weren't.
He'd be expected to consummate their union after he chose a mate. By doing so, he officially became his wife's responsibility. Her property. He'd be marked by her for life, both societally and physically.
Just like his mother had become his father's property.
And if he refused a mate, he'd inevitably end up homeless. When his father died, all his assets would go to the closest living merrow in their family, and Adrien would have nowhere safe to go.
"But you don't have a choice," Plagg determined.
"No, not really," Adrien agreed. Pushing himself up off the ground, he glided up through the water to his pod, which was nestled in the upper corner of the room. Curling up inside of it, he set his focus on the thin windows on the opposite side of the room, which gave him a view of the city beyond. It glittered this late in the evening, aglow with the hazy blue light of blooming crystals.
"You must have some freedom," Plagg said as he swam up beside him. "You found me in that ship wreck."
"Sneaking out in the middle of the night once every few weeks isn't freedom."
"True…"
Popping his lips, Adrien created a small bubble, which he then used his finger to carefully push up toward the top lip of his pod. The pod itself curled around and above him, creating a soft sort of indent where he'd been gathering bubbles for some time. While archaic in modern day, sirens had once created attractive bubble nests in order to draw in mates. Adrien was expected to be good at the skill despite its uselessness, and so he'd been creating a patch of bubbles all his own for about a weak.
Well, longer than that, really, but every few days he got frustrated at the sight and destroyed them all.
"You're going out later tonight, right?" Plagg asked.
"I want to." It could be the last night he'd ever get to leave the city. His father was oftentimes away on "business," and so it was his assistant Nathalie—another short-finned merrow—that was tasked with keeping watch over him. But merrows weren't exactly known for their child rearing abilities. So long as Adrien minded his business, she didn't much care what he was doing. Which made it easy to sneak out once he'd pretended to go to bed.
His father was home as of that night, which made the whole ordeal riskier. Yet, given the circumstances, it seemed a risk worth taking.
Just a little longer and he'd head out. It'd be strange seeing a siren out alone this late at night, so he had to wait until most of the mer-folk in the nearby homes had retired to bed. But once out of the house, it didn't take him long to reach the outskirts of the city. His father being a recluse that didn't like to be near too many others had some advantages in that respect.
"Do you… plan on taking Pollen and I to the surface?" Plagg asked.
Adrien frowned. "I told you, I've never been to the surface."
"But if you're mated, you might never get the chance again."
A reminder that Adrien didn't appreciate. He hadn't known Plagg long—he'd only found the ring that housed the kwami about a month beforehand—but he'd become somewhat protective of his secret treasure. He didn't want to give up his miraculous, even if it wasn't really meant for him to have.
"Listen, kid, I don't mind being down here," Plagg continued. "Aside from the fact that you don't have cheese, I can't really complain. But fact is, we don't belong down here. We weren't created for mer-folk."
"I know…"
"I like you, Adrien, and it's nice not having to worry about… all the things I'm supposed to be worrying about. But if I don't get back to the surface, the whole of the human world could be turned upside-down."
Adrien managed a small grin. "We'd never know down here."
"While I appreciate that sentiment, my partner would have a different take on the matter."
"Your partner, huh? Who's that?"
"Don't change the subject."
Adrien sighed. "I'll try, I guess. But… like I said, I've never been to the surface. We're not supposed to. It's dangerous."
"I didn't think you were the type that'd balk at the idea of danger."
Adrien cast him a flat look, before deciding they'd waited long enough. "C'mon," he said, beckoning to the little kwami as he swam toward the top of his bedroom. "Chloe won't wait forever."
It wasn't exactly hard to sneak out of his room. It was expected that he'd never do such a thing, so it wasn't as though he'd ever been locked in. All he had to do was shift the cover to his sunning window aside—a large, circular opening that usually had a smooth slab of stone fitted inside it—and swim out.
It took him less than a minute to do so, his tail curling close to his body as he slid the stone back into place. He wanted to keep as low a profile as possible, knowing his bright colors could catch even the dim light of the blooming crystals and give him away.
Securing the stone in place, he was soon slinking down the back side of his father's multi-teared mansion, it's many rounded, stone roofs providing him adequate cover as he ducked in and out of the shadows. A few of the windows were aglow with crystals—namely his father's study—and so he actively avoided swimming nearer to those.
Soon enough, he was headed along the ocean floor just beyond the mansion. As quickly as he could, he swam into the garden of colorful anemones, which would hopefully shield his shimmering tail from anyone watching.
It was once he was through the garden and on the other side that he felt a bit of relief. His father truly did live right on the outside of the city. All he had to do was swim up the steep side of a shadowed cliff and he'd be out of the gorge where the city was generally hidden from anyone that might bother coming this deep down into the waves. At the very top of the cliff was a stretching shield of coral, which he carefully maneuvered his way through before finally coming up and out "into the open," so to speak.
"Took you long enough!" Chloe hissed as soon as he shimmied his way into sight, checking only quickly to make sure he hadn't scratched himself on the sharp coral.
She was laying down upon some bare sand between reefs, her blue eyes glaring as Adrien came to hover above her. Much the same as him, she was a siren. A beautiful siren, much as he was. Long blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders, her frame thin and lithe as was to be expected. Her shimmering yellow tail was nearly as long as his own, though she possessed only one set of pelvic fins. They were yellow, to match her tail, while her fibular fins started out yellow and faded to a deep, dark blue at their ends. To match her tail, which shimmered with hints of green and yellow despite its dark blue hue.
"I'm here at our regular time," Adrien said calmly, not bothered by Chloe's shortness of attitude. They'd grown up together, being from the same social class. She was the daughter of the current clan leader.
"Always making me wait," Chloe continued, puffing the sand into a cloud as she temperamentally pushed herself up into the water beside him. "You're lucky we've been friends for so long, else I'd be more offended."
"I suppose you're right," he agreed, beginning to swim further away from the cliff edge, Chloe soon falling in beside him.
"Good evening, Adrien." It was another kwami that greeted him, this one with blue eyes, a bright yellow body, and black stripes all over. She also possessed a scarf of yellow fur around her neck and two black antennae, which reminded Adrien of some of the fish that swam around at the bottom of the gorge.
"Hello, Pollen," Adrien replied, happy to throw the tiny kwami a smile. Pollen formed from the comb miraculous Adrien had found alongside his ring. Supposedly, the comb resembled a "bee," which was a land creature of some kind. But much like cats, Adrien had never seen a bee before and so couldn't verify.
She belonged to Chloe for the time being, as she'd claimed the comb when they'd come across it while investigating a ship wreck the month prior.
"Please don't tell me we're going too far out," Chloe was soon complaining. "I'm already tired and you should be getting your beauty sleep. You can't look all puffy tomorrow for your mating ceremony."
Adrien shrugged. "I don't really care about that. Besides, we have to go somewhat far. We have to get Plagg and Pollen to the surface."
A statement that had Chloe coming to an abrupt stop.
"What?" she asked, her expression having dropped into unease.
"Once I'm mated, we don't know what could happen," Adrien reasoned, turning back to her as he did. "I might never be allowed out again. We have to get them to the surface while we can."
"Or we could just not do that," Chloe rebuked smartly.
Adrien cast her a disapproving frown.
"Clearly the humans aren't looking for them. Why does it matter?"
"They don't belong here, Chlo."
"The surface is dangerous. What if there are humans up there? Or a ship? Do you know what humans do to mermaids like us? They'll catch us and string us up for our fins."
Adrien rolled his eyes. "That's all just children's stories to scare us."
"How do you know?" she asked, following him as he continued on despite her protests. "You've never been there. You've never seen it. There's a reason no one is allowed to go to the surface. We're mermaids—we don't have any reason to go up there."
"I'd like to see it," Adrien admitted. "It'd even be interesting if we were able to spot a human or two."
"Adrien!"
"I'm just kidding. Now, come on."
Despite her misgivings, Chloe continued, the two of them swimming on for some time. Until they were far enough away that even when they swam upward, into the expanse of open ocean, no one would be able to see them from the city.
"I don't know about this," Chloe said as they came to a slow stop, their attention trained up toward the surface. Truth be told, they really weren't all that far away. Perhaps two-thousand feet or so. Mermaids required sunlight to live, just as humans did, even if it was considerably less. Their city had to be within decent range of the surface as a result, even if it was well-hidden beneath a crown of coral.
"There's nothing to be afraid of," Adrien reasoned. "Just look—no ships, hardly any fish." Just the vague shimmer of the moon far, far above their heads.
"But what if a ship is nearby?" she asked, sinking down into the sand as she did. Her yellow tail curled protectively around her body, giving away the height of her anxiety. "How fast do they go? What if we can't get away?"
Releasing a light sigh, Adrien sank down beside her, curling his tail around her own comfortingly. "You don't have to go if you don't want. I'll take the miraculouses up to the surface myself."
Curling her nose, she cast him a rather dubious look. "Alone? Why in the world would that be better? Or safer?"
He shrugged. "I didn't say it would be, but…" Looking up, he turned his attention to the surface again. "Who knows what could happen after tomorrow. I don't know, I guess… I guess I want to see it."
"See what?"
"Just… anything, really. The sky, the moon. The sun. I may never get the chance to see anything again after tomorrow."
Chloe frowned. "Do you really think your mate will be that bad?"
"Perhaps. I don't want to be what they think I should be. I just want…"
He couldn't articulate exactly what he was feeling, but Chloe seemed to understand nonetheless. Even if she wasn't dreading her future as much as he was, she knew his anxiety. Many other sirens did.
"You've got to have some good prospects," she reasoned. "They can't all be bad."
"There are three already trying to get ahead with my father," Adrien replied. "They've sent letters, and even gifts." He almost laughed. "And not a single one of them bothered to get in contact with me directly."
"Who were they?"
"I don't know. I didn't ask." It wouldn't make a difference anyway.
"I bet one of them was the Rossi family," Chloe said flatly. "Lila's been all over you for months. I get so tired of her hanging around every time we try to go anywhere."
Adrien hummed in agreement.
Lila Rossi was a high class warrior merrow. Her parents were well-respected border commanders and close friends with Chloe's father. She was popular, strong, and was already well-respected among the guard despite her young age.
Personally, Adrien didn't much like her. She was pushy and altogether too forward, and didn't think too highly of sirens in general, based on her attitude toward others outside of him.
"There'll be someone better," Chloe decided firmly. "You'll see. It'll all come together in the end." Taking a huffing breath, she apparently settled her nerves before reaching out and taking Adrien's arm. Together, they started to head upward, remaining close as they kept their focus on the glaring light above.
It was only when the ripples upon the surface began to come clearly into view that the two of them slowed, Chloe once again becoming uneasy as Adrien peered critically through the water, looking for any possible threat. Outside of the occasional wandering fish, however, there was little worth taking note of.
"C'mon," Adrien encouraged quietly. "We're almost there."
Nodding, Chloe stuck right beside him as they closed the remaining distance, Adrien hovering only a moment just below the surface before clenching his fists and thrusting himself up out of the water.
The night air was shocking. Cold and brisk, it was somehow sharper than breathing air through the water. His gills fanned as he took a deep breath, unaccustomed to such dryness. Though it was dark, the glare of the moon was sharp and intense, both Adrien and Chloe shying away as they blinked, attempting to adjust.
For a moment, Adrien was certain his throat was burning, his mouth feeling all too dry. He nearly dove back under. But the longer he remained above the surface, the easier it became. Until he was able to blink away the harsh light, his eyes adapting as he reached up and pushed his hair out of the way.
"What are those?" Chloe asked, Adrien following her gaze upward to the night sky.
It was steady and smooth, the moon round and bright against the blackness of the heavens. And all around it, tiny lights sparkled, twisting and twirling in unending patterns that Adrien couldn't even begin to follow.
"They're stars," he eventually realized, a grin spreading across his lips in the same moment. "Like in the old stories."
"They're so much smaller than I'd always imagined."
"They're beautiful."
For some moments, they simply floated, taking in the sky they'd never seen and likely never would again. Until, finally, Adrien's gaze fell to the horizon.
"I don't see any land," he eventually said.
"We're too far away," Plagg explained, having settled onto Adrien's shoulder.
"Well, how much further is it?" Chloe asked shortly.
Plagg threw her a glare. "How would I know?"
She growled.
"Which direction do we go?" Adrien found himself asking, though the question was more for himself than the others. Twisting in place, he tried to get some kind of idea, but the ocean stretched on for miles in every direction.
"What's that?" It was Pollen who asked, the other three looking ahead at where she was pointing her tiny paw.
Squinting, Adrien could just barely see it. A shadowed silhouette bobbing up and down upon the waves.
"Adrien." Clinging to him, Chloe crowded close. "That's a ship. We should leave. Now."
"It's so far away we can barely see it," he reasoned, attempted to squirm a bit out of her hold. "Besides, a ship means we can find land. It had to have come from somewhere, or is going somewhere, right? If we follow it, maybe—"
"Follow it?" Chloe baulked. "Adrien, what are you thinking?!"
"We don't have to get close. Besides, humans have poor eyesight at night. They'll never see us." He was trying to pull away, Chloe's well-sharpened claws digging more deeply into his arm as a result. "C'mon, before we lose sight of it."
"Adrien, no!" Chloe begged. "Let's just go back!"
"We have to get Plagg and Pollen to shore." Finally yanking his arm from her hold, he swam a bit in the direction of the ship. "It'll be alright."
Turning, he tried to cast Chloe a reassuring smile, but she just shook her head.
"I promise it'll be okay, Chlo." He held out his hand to her. "You'll see."
For a moment, it looked like she might reach out, but her nerves inevitably got the better of her. Shaking her head, she pushed back in the water before diving back under, taking the bee comb with her.
"Chloe!" Adrien called, ducking back under as well. But she was already swimming down the way they'd come, her yellow tail dimming as the shadows closed in around her.
For a moment, Adrien hung in the water, uncertain what to do. He watched Chloe until she disappeared, before turning to look in the direction of the ship.
If he didn't follow it then, he could lose track of it. And then he'd never find land.
Gritting his teeth in resolve, he burst back up above the water, looking again to the horizon where he could see the shadow drifting further away. Satisfied he knew what direction he needed to head in, he slipped back beneath the surface and took off through the water.
It was a long, strenuous journey from then on. Not wanting to lose track of the ship, he swam as fast and hard as he could, occasionally vaulting up out of the water and back in so he could make sure the ship was still there. The hours wore on, the ship only seeming to grow minutely closer all the while. He was beginning to feel a bit tired, but was thankful he'd always retained an active lifestyle.
It was probably a good thing Chloe hadn't come—she wouldn't have been able to keep up.
It was well into his third hour of travel that the sky to his right began to lighten. Which unnerved him slightly, but didn't deter him. And he grew only more determined when he finally spotted a strip of what must have been shore bulging up out of the water.
The ship was closer now—so close that he could see spikes protruding up out of it, creating "T" shapes with what looked like giant fins hanging down to catch the wind.
Supposing that was quite close enough, he monitored his speed, keeping an eye on both the ship and the land as it grew nearer.
Soon, he could see that the land was, in fact, a striking line of cliffs, water splashing violently at their bases. The ship seemed to be headed directly for them, which Adrien thought rather strange. The ship couldn't reasonably go through the cliffs, could it? Maybe it could fly over them?
Curious despite the danger, he decided to swim yet closer. Soon enough, the ship was gliding through alcove and disappearing behind a rocky outcropping. Which didn't help Adrien any. He couldn't just leave Plagg close to the shore—he had to get him to shore. Certainly the ship was somehow accessing the land, but he couldn't know how if he couldn't see it.
Careful as he approached, he kept himself mostly below the water as he swam, only keeping his head up enough to be able to see over the water's surface.
Soon enough, he was approaching the alcove, his heart beating faster as the looming shadows stretched out to meet him. The sky was bright with the early morning now, the sun warming every surface it touched. It was almost so bright it was painful, but Adrien kept going nonetheless.
Careful to be as quiet as possible, he slowly swam around the rocks into the alcove, only to come to a startled stop once he was around the bend.
The ship was right there in front of him. It'd halted in the water, sheltered beneath the cliffs like a fish hiding at the base of some seaweed. And for a moment, Adrien's nerves nearly got the better of him. He almost turned tail and swam away as fast as he could.
But his curiosity proved to be more powerful, causing him to gape some when activity upon the ship became visible. He could hear voices—human voices—and see their silhouettes moving about upon the ship. There weren't many of them.
Maybe, if he could reach the ship, he could leave his ring on it. That was kind of like reaching the shore, right? There had to be a place he could safely stash it.
Ducking down beneath the water, he approached the ship from underneath, which seemed to make it appear all the larger. It was a bulging, dirty thing, covered in barnacles and other sharp bits that he'd have to steer clear of. He wasn't sure what it was made from—some brown material that was clearly discolored. He swam up and down the length of it, and then completely around it (at a distance, of course), hoping he'd spot some place to leave the ring. But there was nowhere safe. If he simply left it in a batch of barnacles, the humans would never find it. And then it'd likely be lost at sea again.
Gathering his courage, Adrien swam a little closer to the surface, until he could just vaguely see through the water to the inclining sides of the ship above.
Just as something came crashing down into the water on top of him.
Surging back in surprise, Adrien shook himself, realizing quite quickly that an entire barrel of discarded fish remains had just been dumped on top of him. Picking off the pieces that had stuck, he curled his lip and swam a bit further down the length of the ship.
It was only when he stopped again that he realized the voices upon the ship had grown louder.
Peering up through the water, he felt his skin grow cold at the sight of one of the humans jogging down the length of the ship, pointing down at the water—at him—as they did.
He should leave. He knew he should.
What was the humans saying, he wondered.
Despite every warning sign, Adrien slowly turned his head on its side, just enough that he could raise one ear above the surface.
"Oh my god, look at that…" The human was speaking. And, oddly enough, Adrien could understand him. They spoke the same language? There seemed to be a slight accent difference, but it was still easy for him to catch every word. "I can't believe I'm seeing this."
Supposing there was no reason to pretend as though he hadn't been seen, Adrien turned his head until his eyes were above the surface again. He then quickly narrowed them into a glare as he stared up at the human.
"Hey, there," the human continued, waving weakly at him as he did.
It was indeed a human male. He had short, brown hair, and browned skin. Though Adrien couldn't be sure, he decided that whatever was covering the human from the neck down had to be clothing of some kind. Like Chloe's thin shawls, though much heavier and of sturdier make. He wore a blue tunic from the throat down with white sleeves. That was the extent of what Adrien could see, as the ship's edge got in the way of the rest.
"Hey, did you follow us here?" the human asked. Adrien refused to answer, instead remaining exactly where he was. "It's okay, I won't hurt you."
Adrien did not believe him.
Reaching down, the man rubbed his fingers together, as if trying to beckon Adrien closer as one would a pet fish. "Come here, Catfish. It's okay."
"What the hell are you doing, Nino?" Another voice came up behind the first human, Adrien slinking back a bit as a result.
"Look, Alya! Look!" The first human was pointing down at him again, clearly excited as his comrade came up beside him.
She was far more intimidating than the man in blue. She glared down at Adrien through one amber eye, the other covered in a patch. Her long dreadlocks were pulled back in a high ponytail, the loose ends fading from dark brown to white at their tips. She was wearing some kind of orange colored vest with white linen underneath. A single orange necklace hung around her neck, shaped like a hollowed bubble with a pointed tip.
"Well, I'll be damned," she said, leaning forward over the edge of the ship in order to get a better look at him.
"It must have followed us in here," the first human—Nino—explained. "It has to be a real mermaid, right? Look at its ears!" He held his hands out from either side of his head in a pointed fashion, as if mimicking the shape of Adrien's long, pointed ears. "Man, what Luka wouldn't give to see this."
The other human—Alya—grinned, but it wasn't the sort of grin Adrien liked all that well.
"We should catch it," she decided a second later.
Adrien darted even further back.
"Don't scare it, Alya!" Nino said sharply, appearing quite disheartened as he looked back at Adrien. "We're not going to catch you," he guaranteed. "Don't listen to her—she's out of her mind."
"Hey!"
"We promise not to hurt you if you come here." Once again, he held his hand down as if beckoning to some sort of daft animal.
Not appreciating the gesture, nor the other human's attitude—and confident that he could get away from them at his distance—Adrien dared raise his head fully up out of the water, a disapproving frown pulling at his lips as he eyed them.
Nino gaped. "Wow…"
"Hey, Cap! Come look at this!" Alya had turned, seemingly calling to another on board. The thought of even more humans made Adrien nervous, and he nearly dove back down into the water and swam away. But before he could, another appeared at the edge of the ship.
The sight of her had Adrien freezing, his own lips parting in wonder.
Tumblr media
She wasn't a large, intimidating woman. Not in stature anyway. Yet she seemed to exude confidence nonetheless. She wore a long, red coat, the front of it decorated with all sorts of ties and buttons.
Her own gaze caught Adrien's, her vibrant blue eyes widening as her red-tinted lips parted in much the same way his had. Reaching up, she removed the strange, triangle-shaped hat that was sitting on her head, instead holding it against her chest as she watched him.
She had lovely, long hair—black, but sparkling with purple and blue in the morning sunlight. It contrasted with her pale complexion, seeming to bring out the color of her eyes all the more.
Around those very eyes appeared to be a mask of some sort. Adrien couldn't tell if it was a natural feature or not, the red that stretched from one side of her face to the other, black spots interspersed throughout.
He also found that he didn't much care one way or another.
Rather, he decided that she was absolutely beautiful.
"It's a mermaid," Nino said again, sounding all the more excited.
"That's a siren," the red woman corrected, her voice clear in the same way the air had been when he'd first breached the water. "You can tell by his ears. They're fanned, like fins."
"Aren't they all the same?" Alya asked.
"Sirens are far rarer than the other variety," the red woman corrected. Setting her hat down on the edge of the ship, her gaze turned curious. "What are you doing so far from home, pretty one? It'd dangerous, being this close to shore."
Clamping his mouth shut, Adrien found himself quite caught up in her gaze. His heart was pounding hard in his chest, his skin tingling from his fingers down through the tip of his tail. Despite himself, he drifted a bit closer, if only to get a better look at her.
"Don't come closer," she warned. "You shouldn't be curious about humans. Go home. You'll only get hurt if you stay here."
"Or worse," Alya tacked on.
But he didn't want to leave.
The red woman—apparently dissatisfied with his reaction—released a short sigh, before she pulled something from her hip. It was some kind of red, spotted circle. Not that Adrien got a very good look at it. A moment later, it was snapping out into the water in front of him, the splash startling him backwards.
"I could catch you in seconds," the red woman lectured. "Now get out of here!"
She snapped the circle back out again, Adrien finally overcoming his awe enough to dive into the water. Darting downward, he turned to look up just as the weapon was retracting. For only a split second, he considered staying, but then common sense finally got the better of him.
She'd said she could catch him, which was warning enough. Despite how his heart dropped down into his stomach, he lingered only a second longer before he turned tail and glided deeper into the water, swimming back the way he'd come.
-----------------
So there’s Chapter 1. It’s posted to AO3 as well (skaylanphear) and will be updating first on my Patreon (skadako).
Hope you guys enjoyed the first installment!

All characters in this AU are aged up and adults
Well we can all guess who won the Poll! Here’s the new version of Celine Titania! I cleaned her up a bit and now she’s all ready to go! Now Celine Titania looks immobile and vulnerable but she isn’t, in fact she has more knives and sharp objects to stab you with than Titania does.
Also she has sharp long nails so be very careful when trying to attack, she can fight back. Just like Titania’s and Bleu Celines dress her bottom part can be torn off for combat. She can strangle you with her see through shawl and her shoes hurt when kicked with. She always has her fan covering her mouth as she speaks to her senticreatures or her champions, it also hides the mouth that knows all secrets of the future.
Also her roses are definitely a symbolism.
I’m gonna be honest, this was a small doodle that turned into something really pretty, I was a bit upset that Celine Titania’s original design had no Chinese aspect to it because I could never figure out how to design something that added both parts of both Miraculouses. But I took OG Celine Titania’s colors and mixed it with this doodle. I really like it and am FINALLY satisfied with it.
Not all Miraculous designs are going to be Chinese themed unless they are unified with the peacock and butterfly and we will definitely be seeing more main seven unifications since I’ve decided that those should just be the main Miraculouses Marinette uses instead of using the Chinese zodiac ones(Because we still have the power ups and that just is too much designing man). Don’t worry the rabbit, mouse, dragon, and snake will be seen and used but only those ones.
Anyway I’m home for Christmas break so chapter 4 will be updated soon!

“I'm tired of people complaining about the many Miraculouses are available. The box clearly shows more than the "Main Seven" and since the middle of Season 2 opening sequence they've shown which classmates were going to get which Miraculous, the Kwami Swap and Marinette getting the Mouse Miraculous too. Yes: I realize how redundant I am complaining about complaints, I'm just tired of seeing them in the tags”

Note
Since 'Feast' revealed that there are other Miraculous, what animals do you think they'll be? Will they be seemingly random like the core seven or based around something like the Zodiac? The only animal I'm pretty sure will be a Miraculous is a deer, since Origins showed a cave-style painting of a deer-like hero as Nooroo explained the Miraculous.
Honestly its hard to say. It depends on what they want to do, if there’s anything they want to base those miraculouses on, and with this team, its really hard to say what they will even do. A lot that they do doesn’t really make sense or work in the story’s favor. For sure we’ll probably see at least two more new ones since Feast hints that Audrey and Tomoe will be (potential) future villains.
And thank you for mentioning the randomness of the 7, cause now that they’re pushing that this chest is strictly Chinese related, a few of the animals of the main 7 just don’t fit in.
In cultural significance, ladybugs are largely European, maybe even only Europe where they have a presence in culture. Same for bees, though they also have some significance in Egypt and India. And peacocks are far more significant in India than they are in China. A pheasant or crane would make more sense than a peacock for this strictly Chinese set.
And foxes, they have a very mixed view in China, some are seen as good but also seen as bad too. They’re more appreciated in Japan, same goes for cats, though its more positive over all, but definitely appreciated more in Japan. And its about the same for butterfly, they’re a symbol of love in China, but are bigger in Japanese culture (often representing the soul or is an omen of sorts). Turtle is probably the one that fits the most with this theme, turtles are very significant to this culture as a symbol of wisdom, longevity, knowledge, and survival. Its one of the few animals mentioned to stand equal with the mighty dragon, unable to reach it, though the dragon can’t hurt it.
If they really wanted the chest Fu has to be associated with Chinese culture, ladybug, bee, and peacock for sure would have to go and be replaced with more fitting animals, like the deer, crane, carp, pheasant, mantis, bat, toad, panda, ect. And for the ones to be based on yin yang, there’s quite a few options to choose from: fenghaung and dragon, dragon and tiger, fenghaung and qilin.
A lot of these I listed would be more fitting in keeping the theme that Fu’s chest is heavily tied to Chinese culture and Taoism.

Another Path AU - The Miraculous
I wanted to point out the way the Miraculouses have been changed for this AU. Also, these are some personal headcanons for the Miraculous. I will only be doing the main seven, and will be handling the Zodiac Miraculous in another post.
Energy
Before going over the powers, I want to establish how the powers are powered (does that make sense? eh, whatever). To be honest, the whole one-use-then-depower deal is stupid, and leads to boring, uninteresting fights. As well, the fact that only adults can use their powers multiple times is contrived and, say it with me, stupid. So, I want to propose something to fix this:
A magic meter
Think how The Hero works in Smash Ultimate, and how he has a meter for all his special moves. Using a special drains a bit of his MP, but it refills slowly over time. THAT is how the Miraculous powers should have worked. Using a power costs some MP, it refills over time, and you can use the power again! All of the powers cost different amounts of MP (Something like Mirage costing the least, Miraculous Healing the most), and to balance it out some powers have a cool down time before they can be used again.
As to how much MP a person has, that depends on two things. The first is how much natural magic the person has, or has trained to use. The second is how much experience with the Miraculous the person has.
The timer for transforming back only activates after the magic meter hits about 15-20% of it’s total quantity. And, since the meter refills (about 3% per second), the user has plenty of time before they reach that amount.
Powers
First, I would like to thank @loosescrewslefty fore being a great inspiration for these new powers. Without them, I would still be lost as to how these powers would be different.
With the new powers is a quick note as to how much MP is used to power them.
Ladybug (Positive Energy)
Heart - Miraculous Healing (all available magic, can be powered by using the Lucky Charm)
Mind - Lucky Charm (20%)
Energy - Miracle Wish (50%)
Can will anything into existence
Body - Elytron (10% each)
Creates small ladybugs that connect to a target. Ladybugs then generate a magical aura that protects that target from the elements and any non-combat harm.
Soul - Red String (30% activation, 2% each second)
Can connect the users soul to another living thing and amplify its natural abilities.
Black Cat (Negative Energy)
Body - Cat Scratch (25%)
Cut causes a bad luck curse to be placed on the victim
Mind - Cheshire Cat (10-30%)
Causes madness. Intensity varies depending on the amount of energy put into the attack
Energy - Cataclysm (40%)
Body - Catatonic (20%)
Puts victim to sleep
Soul - Catacomb (10% each)
Creates shades to work like Shadow Clones
Fox (Mind)
Mirage (5%)
Foxfire (20%)
Recharges targets magic meter and amplifies next ability used
Can be used on self
Does not Stack
Turtle (Body)
Shell-ture/Protection (30%)
Withdraw (40%)
A counter with two variations:
Physical attack - Takes blow on shield, then responds with a powered up Shield Bash
Energy Attack - Absorbs energy, then slams energy into ground, creating a shock wave
Bee (Energy)
Sting (20%)
Just Venom with a better name
Nectar (20%)
Creates a honey like substance that, when consumed, can heal injuries, recharge Kwami, and refill magic Meter
Butterfly (Heart)
Metamorphosis (50%)
Heart Search (10% activation, 2% every second)
Allows the user to scan the surrounding area in order to find suitable Champions/Akumas
Peacock (Soul)
Soul Guardian (50%)
Soul Alignment (10% activation, 2% per second)
Allows the user to enter the body of a person that is currently in the possession of an Amok
Warning: If the user does not return to their body before the transformation runs out, they will be stuck as a roaming spirit until the Miraculous is reactivated.
That’s all I have for the main 7 for now. And I will create a post for the Zodiac Miraculous later.

Miraculous power ✨
So we alredy saw the power of the seven main Miraculouses and some from the 12 zoodiacs:
Ladybug 🐞
Black Cat 🐈
Moth 🦋
Fox 🦊
Turtle 🐢
Bee 🐝
Peacock 🐦
+
Rabbit 🐇
Monkey 🐒
Horse 🐎
Snake 🐍
Dragon 🐉
Tiger 🐅 - Juleka
Ox 🐂 - Ivan
Rat 🐀 - Mylane (Marinette)
Pig 🐖 -Rose
Dog 🐕 -Sabrina
Rooster 🐓 -Marc (Lila?)
Goat 🐐 -Nathaniel
Tumblr media
So, let's see the missing powers:
Rat 🐀
Multiplying (maybe getting smaller and smaller every thime when cloneing)
Explanation: the rat is symbolesing the sneakines, and they number can increase very fast (by giving birth to the next generation)
Weapon: Jumping rope
Tiger 🐅
Fire breath (or create a fire circle with his/her weapon -wich is a hoop, I think)
Explanation: I think, there will be some reference to the circus (because the color of the tiger kwami is more resembles to a painted show-animal than a natural one)
Weapon: Hoop
Rooster 🐓
Supersonic squawk (not a hand or weapon related power? 🤔)
Explanation: It's very obliviously, the roosters symbolise those who are loud and/or talkative
Weapon: Ribbon wand
Ox 🐂
Yoke connection (create chains between him/herself and a choosen target to hold/keep/drag it)
Explanation: The oxes are stong animals, mainly used for transpotrtation (people and non living objects)
Weapon: Gauntlets
Pig 🐖
Will power (makes a wish comes true by secrefice his/her weapon -a hand big, golden, ring/token like thing)
Explanation: the pigs are mainly generous creatures and have a great sense of responsibility. He/She give up his/her weapon to help to the others (by shapeing the reality itself) and became defenceless. (And it's a reference for the piggy bank -the shape and the use of the weapon)
Weapon: Golden ring
Dog 🐕
Tracking (they sense a location of a choosen person and can teleport after them or reverse way -like Onii chan)
Or
Team up (makes a choosen person to a partner)
Explanation: the dogs are faithful and talented trackers, liveing in packs
Weapon: Tonfa/Bumerang (tracking) or Magnifying (team up)
* reference to Sabrinas glasses
Goat 🐐
Art drawing (using his/her weapon can draw something, after that he/she rumple the paper and it became to life)
