Chicken Scratch Rules

Gabriel slipped on the Rooster miraculous, his gaze meeting the wary gaze of the kwami who came out of it, regarding him with distaste. He commanded, "Explain your power to me."

Orikko grimaced. "Chicken Scratch is a power of authority," he reluctantly shared, "write out a rule, it and will apply."

"There's no limits to it?"

"You make the limits," Orikko said, "it's your rule, so it will apply and have its limits."

Gabriel smirked. "So I can be creative with this?"

"Depends on how creative you are," Orikko replied.

"Sunrise," Gabriel bid, transforming and plucking the quill from his pocket, twirling it excitedly. If there were no limits in what he can do with his rules, he has finally won.

Heading to a small room, he wrote on the door, This room will contain Ladybug. The writing glowed orange and excitedly, Gabriel opened it.

The room was empty.

That smug smile fell away from Gabriel's lips. "Sunset," he called out, Orikko zipping out. As the kwami turned to him, Gabriel pointed at the room, snapping, "Why isn't Ladybug in here?!"

Orikko gave him an irritated look, then glanced over at what Gabriel wrote. Scoffing, Orikko pointed at what Gabriel wrote, snidely stating, "You wrote that it will contain Ladybug. If you get her in there, it will contain her. She wouldn't be able to get out. But that doesn't mean she would appear in there."

Gabriel retransformed, closed the door, used the feather to wipe away what he wrote, and replaced it with, Ladybug will appear in this room.

He opened it dramatically, gloating smile in place, and he didn't see anything.

There was a bit of red movement on the floor and he looked down to see an actual ladybug on the floor, crawling around. He brought Orikko back out and pointed at the insect angrily.

"Are you messing with me?"

"I am not!" Orikko snapped. "Unfortunately for you, she named herself Ladybug. That is a common name for those insects. You'll have to be more specific."

Gabriel tried again, wiping away the rule and scribbling out, Ladybug the hero will appear in this room.

He opened that door, this time not bothering to smile, and found it was empty.

"Orikko!" he snapped as he detransformed again.

Orikko was looking tired, a mix of his power used over and over again and dealing with this manchild. Looking it over once more, Orikko snapped, "She's probably not transformed. She'll appear when she transforms."

Gabriel grasped his chin, considering this. Well, he could make an akuma, and then she'd have to appear and then he'd have her! But, he'd have to fight her, and she then could figure out who he is... Gabriel smirked.

He had a better idea.

"Sunrise," he called once more, brushing the feather over the risky rule and wrote out, The wearer of the ladybug earrings will appear in here.

No sooner than when he drew the quill away, there was an orange flash and the door flew open, smacking Gabriel in the face and sending him stumbling back as random Parisians came rushing out the door, looking confused and pointing at him and all of them were wearing ladybug earrings.

Gabriel quickly wiped that rule away. He blew out a frustrated breath, cursing Ladybug's popularity. Luckily, he was doing this in another part of his lair, so no one saw his home. Getting an idea, he wrote out, The wearer of the ladybug miraculous will appear in this room.

He opened the door, feeling that spark of elevation and thrill once more.

And the room was empty.

"Sunset!" he snapped.

"What?" Orikko snapped back.

"Why isn't she in there?!"

"I guess she's not wearing the earrings!"

Gabriel rubbed his bruised forehead, feeling irritated.

That must mean Ladybug was amongst that crowd. That she then anticipated what he'd write next.

But there was still hope.

And Gabriel was a clever man.

Retransforming and ignoring Orikko's grumbles, he wrote out, The Ladybug Miraculous will appear in this room.

Opening the door, he saw them.

"Yes!" he called out, stepping in and picking up the earrings. "I have them! I finally have them!"

He stepped out of the room and poof they were gone.

Gabriel gaped at his hand and uttered, "Sunset."

Orikko was brought back out. With a sigh, he explained, "The earrings were to appear only in that room. Take them out, the rule doesn't apply to them."

"Your miraculous sucks," Gabriel declared.

"Then dON'T USE IT!" Orikko shouted.

Gabriel ignored the seething kwami, moving to pace about, trying to think how he can use this miraculous to win.

Gabriel stopped, a thought occurring to him. If he can't make take the earrings out, then he could make the Wish INSIDE the room. Heading back and brandishing the quill, he wrote The Ladybug Miraculous and Cat Miraculous will both appear in this room.

He opened it, and giddily, he breathed, "Yes!"

There they were. The earrings and the ring. The two miraculous he spent the past year trying to get! He had them! He finally had them!

He practically tossed the thumb ring aside, not caring as Orikko turned to watch him pick up the two miraculous. Gabriel took one specific earrings, and started to place it on top of the ring, the true wish granting unification--

Poof.

The miraculouses were gone, Gabriel's hands were empty.

He turned towards Orikko, gaping.

Orikko in turn just crossed his arms and shook his head at Gabriel. "You combine them, and they stop existing as the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses."

Gabriel took a breath. "I am really starting to hate your miraculous."

"The feeling is mutual," Orikko clucked.

One more try, Gabriel thought, slipping the thumb ring back on, Orikko's rolling eyes cut off as he was zapped back in. This time, Gabriel wrote on himself, scribbling over his arm, I will have the power of the Cat and Ladybug Miraculous.

The letters glowed orange and Gabriel felt a shift in him. He declared, "I Wish to revive my wife!"

Nothing seemed to happen.

Gabriel hurried over to his iPad, checking on the cameras that were on her, staring in to see if there was any movement.

There was none.

Again, Orikko was brought out. "How did you mess up this time?"

Gabriel glared at him, showing the kwami his arm.

Orikko scoffed. "See, with that writing, that means you could summon Cataclysm and either the Lucky Charm or Miraculous Ladybug."

"Then I'll aim for their Wish granting power!" Gabriel declared, retransforming once again and writing out, I will have the Wish granting power of the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous!

"I Wish to revive my wife!" Gabriel declared once more, then checked the screens.

Still nothing.

Nothing was happening.

He threw the thumb ring across the room, sending Orikko tumbling out, wincing as he spun. "What now?!" he snapped.

"Why isn't it working?!" Gabriel demanded, waving to his arm.

"See, this sets you up as a wish granter, not granting your own wishes, as these miraculous, and kwamis, can't make their own wish. But you can grant the wish of anyone who asks."

Gabriel was suddenly afraid at the smirk on Orikko's face. "Just like I wish you were a chicken."

Poof.

Before Orikko stood a white rooster, with a bright red waddle. It squawked out in fear, flapping about wildly in a panic while Orikko cackled above him.

Rooster bold redesign. I have conflicting feelings about the canon design because it has a lot of really clever details that fit the rooster motif but it also looks goofy to me. I feel like it would look better in a 2D art style but idk. I think the boots are amazing so I definitely kept those with no changes. I personally think the rooster miraculous is the most powerful versatile one. Like the only limits are your own creativity I don’t know how any villain is going to feel like an actual threat when lady bug has the rooster, bee, and ox miraculous on her side so that will be interesting to see.

All right this one was quite a tough one to do but here is Rooster!Marinette, before I was gonna do just all orange and stick to Orikkos main color palette which was orange, but I soon found out orange is a hard color to work with and roosters really are colorful birds that have a wide variety of colors! After some research, I figured that the rooster Miraculous is kind of like a fancy miraculous. Rooster bold had a tailcoat sit with a handkerchief and even a waist coat so I went with a kind of Rocco style.

Based it off of this picture:

I altered Orrikos design to so it matched. It was hard making up a name for her so I went with the fancy way, and called her Countess, a title that holds a lot of power in history and in the mind.

The Resplendent Queen!

So, I'll get a little more info regarding the rules I'm gonna go with in terms of the unifications. But, here we go:

Resplendent Queen is the combination of pretension and emotion. A pair of birds, so I stuck with a bird. I went with another fancy feathered bird and went with the resplendent quetzal (also where she gets her name). The concept nobility comes more from pretension (entitlement) than it does emotions, until we get to the powers (which I'm still a little on the fence for).

Now, the tool and powers. The fan and pen combined into a calligraphy brush (thought it was cute). Her power was a little tricky since the rooster can give any power while the peacock is manifesting emotions into monsters (which does fall under the category of empathetic constructs), so there's a lot of leeway and opportunity. So, there's a pair of powers I'm considering for the concept of nobility:

Empathetic Influence - This allows Resplendent Queen to influence and override emotions of her target. Say a target is happy and she influences them to feel something like fear, tying more into the tyrant side of nobility/royality.

Empathy - This kinda inspired by the song The Cost of the Crown by Margie Butler. That a queen cannot think only of herself, but also of the subjects that she is responsible for. Hence, her gaining the power of Empathy, allowing her to feel what others are truly feeling around her.

I like Empathy a little more, but I dunnno. But, there you go, Chloe's unification with the peacock.

"hey, there's an invisible akuma and we can't find it" they can just wish for heightened smell, heat vision, just the ABILITY to see what's invisible

"we can't defeat this akuma!" wish for the power to give the perfect counterattack everytime, or wish for the power to defeat any enemy

"we can't find hawkmoth" WISH FOR THE POWER TO LOCATE ANY MIRACULOUS

Rooster Bold and Caprikid redesigns- with help from the NathMarc discord.

Alt versions below the cut- also the original version of these designs from a few years ago..

Orange RB, to match his canon design/ Orikko. I personally dont enjoy the colour scheme.

Pass one of the redraw.

RBs mask changed, to make them more expressive. The kneepad was removed to make him more balanced. CKs hair roots were changed from white to black so his mask stands out more.

The old designs! whats changed besides my style?

CK: Boot detail, zip added. Removed one of his braids, altered belt and holster.

RB: More detail added, side of hair shaved, removed quiver (idk magic arrows are cooler probably), knee pad removed, shoulder pads altered, mask changed.

Final thoughts: Im unsure which mask i prefer for rooster bold but regarding Marcs character, hed probably choose the eye mask. Also I often prefer to give Nathaniels designs a cape, akin to classic super heros, but i coildnt get it tp translarw very well with the theme so sadly, im not very happy with his design.

Will there be polls on all your original kwami designs? Do you plan to redesign canon kwamis?

If there are designs I'm struggling with, then yes, I'll do a poll to help decide on the OC kwamis.

And for a majority of canon kwamis, no. A very small number would get tweaks, like Longg getting dragonfly wings as Longg is now a dragonfly kwami (meant to live up to the pun of the animal, kinda like how Tikki references ladybird with her tail feathers), also changing the big horns to be dark/black as in canon they look like party hats and it was just kinda awkward.

Pollen I'd be tempted to change up her eyes. The yellow irises just doesn't work for me as it's too much yellow. I think going blue against dark blue would've been better, and would've expanded her concept art, which I'm certain they changed her original eyes as it wasn't expressive enough.

Lastly, Orikko is the only other I'd really change up, as I think he wound up with an awkward design over all. And kinda boring. Like, have the designers not looked at roosters? They're some pretty colorful and iconic birds.

And this is just showing off a small handful.

I actually did do an edit to Orikko before, work off Rooster Bold and give the kwami some more color, and to explore a beakless option (as honestly, so far beaks I find are kinda awkward on kwamis, we see from Plagg that kwamis can open their mouth pretty big but a beak limits that, plus you got Duusu coming in initially showing no beaks, so I'd rather try and work off that detail Duusu came with design wise for bird kwamis).

So this I'd be tempted to do for Orikko instead.

...And if I was to try and aim with keeping the Og 7 together, then I suppose I could roll with Turtle being more cyan/turquoise. Cause I will say, technically the Miraculous itself is more blue-green than green, so doing that color tweak isn't much of a stretch. I'd probably do a little more green than the edits I did before.

Otherwise there's not much else I'd really change... uh, kwamis that do have black on them are going to be more of an incredibly dark purple (like Pagg and Ziggy, maybe Kaalki unless I go with the more reddish brown).

With Eagle official there is the matter with Liiri, she may be kept for Eagle or maybe she'll get a little tweak and be an Owl instead? But I'm not quite there yet designing wise. I'm more likely to do the Eagle Renling but we'll see.

More Guardian!Claudia posting when I should really actually be asleep:

Claudia wears her miraculouses wrong. It started out as mistaking Daizzi's anklet for a bracelet and somehow turning into Porkbelly anyways. Daizzi, of course, is a little annoyed about this, but for Claudia? ...Oh, it sets a dangerous precedent.

Stompp's septum ring is at best worn on her tongue or as a belly button piercing. She puts her greasy fuckass hair into a bun and that's where she sticks Fluff's pocketwatch. Rarely, if ever, are any of her little magical jewelry pieces visible, because she layers so many clothes and jackets to hide them. Ziggy's hairclips get pinned to the waistband of her jeans, she wears Xuppu's circlet like the most uncomfortable choker in the world just to piss him off.

The only exceptions so far are Roaar's panjas bracelet, Orikko's claw ring, and Karra's knuckleduster/ring set, but either way she has all 10 fingers occupied by a Miraculous in some way, which is terrifying. It only makes her Tiger Punches hurt more (And yes, that's what she calls them. She uses none of the right phrases either. It works anyways.)

Of course, if there's anything her kwami bunch can compliment her on, it's that she's innovative. Even if it's not for the greater good (or really the greater evil either, more the greater entropy), her willpower to 'break the system' at the possible cost of her own life is commendable. Once she gets bit by the metaphorical kwami bug, she's obsessed with finding new synergies between using powers back to back. She can use Stompp's invulnerability + Orikko's wishmaking (for pyrokinesis) to become a Human Torch. She can scatter herself across time and space with the help of Mullo, Saass, and Fluff (which, inevitably, she tried to use to fuck with history, but then she has to stop herself from getting caught by Bunnix). Karra can 'shapeshift' Mullo's copies back to human size no matter how many copies are made, meaning Claudia can copy herself nearly thousands of times if she wants. And Barkk + Kaalki? PERFECT FOR THEFT.

She earns her title as "God's Mistake" with these kwamis. Until this superhero shit can finally kill her, she's going to be a nigh-unstoppable chaos machine.
