hii hope youre doing well! could i request coworker!james where r comes in to work sick and he gets worried?
fem!reader, 1.3k
It’s getting old, the whole charade. James didn’t like you and now he does. You used to piss him off, now you don’t. Somehow, someway, he’s seen parts of you he couldn’t help but love, in your voice, how you talk; in your hands, your touch; in your emails worst of all. Who ever thought that James could fall in love on Outlook?
Dearest desk mate,
Where are you? It’s 9.45 and you aren’t here. You realise work starts at 8.30? Besides my worry, I need the invoice for Lang and Co. and Remus doesn’t have them either.
You’re my only hope,
James
You email back a stringy fifteen minutes later.
James,
I’ll be there soon. I can’t attach the file from my phone but I will send it to you the second second I get there, I know you asked meyesterday. I’m sorry for holding you up .
James reads your email with a frown. Your typos are unlike you. He wonders if perhaps you’re texting and driving, which is abhorrent, but you walk into the office a minute later, so you must’ve been responding to him as you walked.
You duck straight into the manager’s office. James can hear you say sorry before the door is fully closed, craning his neck for a good look at you.
Remus laughs shamelessly. “Worried about her?”
“About who?” he asks, even as his chair creaks and threatens to snap under his weight, leaning back to see you through the frosted glass.
“She’s not going anywhere now she’s here, James. Nobody stops by for social visits.”
James relents when he realises you may be in there for a little while. The rain today is aggressive against the window, condensation dripping down the windows to pool atop the radiators. You hate it; you love the radiators when they’re working in the winter, but sad summer days with rubbish weather bog you down. Either way, the condensation wets your elbows or gathers on your desk —it’s not nice. James grabs a wad of tissues from the box on his desk and begins his quick mission.
“Oh, my god. Jamie, you can’t be serious.”
“I'm avoiding electrocution.”
“You’re cleaning up for her,” Remus says, putting his face in his hand to watch him with a softer smile, “it’s nice of you, really, but you can’t expect me to pretend I believe you when you say you don’t like her for much longer if you’re going to do stuff like this.”
“Now say that five times fast.”
His heart drops when you clear your throat, caught, sodden tissue in hand. You don’t eyeball him, there’s no scorn, you clear your throat again and all but collapse into your seat.
“Hey,” James says.
You tip your head back. “Hi, James.” Your eyes are bloodshot, and, to James’ surprise, you aren’t wearing a lick of makeup. You look very pretty but very tired, too.
“You okay?”
Remus bends around the desktop. “Yeah, are you okay?
“I’m fine,” you drop your head back with some vertigo, and press your hands to your eyes. “I’m not very well, is all.”
“What’s wrong?” Remus asks.
“Just poorly. Um, I have a bad headache, and my ears are ringing, but it’s not unmanageable. I’m full of sudafed.”
“Can’t you go home? We can manage without you until you’re better,” Remus says.
“I had all that time off a few weeks ago,” you say. You’d been ill not so long ago.
“You can have some of my sick days,” James says immediately.
You rub your eyes hard enough to make James’ ache in sympathy. “Doesn’t work like that.”
“You really shouldn’t be here if you’re sick,” James says.
“I won’t get you sick, I promise. I brought hand sanitizer, I’m not sneezing or coughing, I’m just aching.” Your movements are lethargic as you lean back in your chair, the slow roll of your shoulders and the limp cross of your arms over your stomach hard to ignore.
James rounds the desk to chuck his tissues in the little bin beneath it. “I don’t think either of us are worried about you getting us sick, lovely.”
Your face crumples quickly and neatens up again just as fast. “My head just hurts,” you say, rubbing your forehead. You manage to summon a wobbly smile despite your pinched brows. “I’m fine, don’t worry.”
If it were Sirius, James would thrust a bottle of water and a pack of ibuprofen at him and tell him to chill out. It it were Remus, the expression would turn his heart, and he’d give his friend a good pat on the back. You aren’t Sirius nor Remus, you’re not so close to him that James knows what to do, but what use is he if he doesn’t try?
“Can I make you a cup of tea?” James asks.
“That’s cruel,” Remus says, “your tea is like milky disappointment.” He stands with a smile James hates, some playful conniving mixture with good intentions deep, deep down. “I’ll make it. James, why don’t you turn the radiator?”
“Is that okay?” James asks.
“What?”
“Do you think that’ll make you feel better, the radiator?” James asks.
“I can do it.”
“No, it’s okay, it hurts your hand. I’ll turn it up.” He weaves back in between your chair and the radiator. Your desk is close enough to be faced with your thighs, but James doesn’t get half as distracted by them as he does your twitchy face.
“You sure you’re okay?” he asks.
“You and Remus worry too much.” You give him the side eye. “Why do you care?”
“I think we’re a little bit past pretending we don’t like each other, aren’t we?”
He turns the radiator on with less struggle than he’s anticipating and holds his hand to the bottom until he feels the metal warming. “Tell me if that gets too hot for you,” he says, standing.
“Thank you.”
“It’s no problem.”
“No, really,” you say, rubbing the bridge of your nose, “thanks for worrying about me. I’ll feel better in an hour.”
“Did you eat breakfast?” He brings his hand up to wipe a stray fibre from your cheek, “Why were you late?”
“I…” Your eyes follow his hand as he lowers it. Emboldened, James raises it again, wiping at a phantom fibre. “What is it?”
“Little hair on your cheek.”
“I slept late, and I felt strange in the car so I parked for a bit, and… I don’t know. I should’ve stayed home, but you know what he’s like about sick days.”
“You feel alright now, other than the headache?”
“Just heavy.”
James spots Remus coming back and steps away. “You’ll be alright, okay? Don’t worry too much. Do some of the top spreadsheets and we can manage the rest.”
“You don’t have to do that for me.”
James does, really. Remus gives you your mug of tea and one of the plastic wrapped muffins from the kitchen, both boys keeping watch over you like a vigil. If you were well enough to notice you’d complain, but you spend the next few hours sipping at your tea as it turns cold, and nibbling at little bits of muffin, clearly tired.
You email James the Lang and Co. invoices four hours after he’s asked for them with a sorry and a frowny face emoticon. James wants to kiss you on the forehead, feels it so strongly it becomes a different kind of wanting, to look after you and for you to want him to do that. He’s in way too deep. There’s not much he can do.
“You want some more tea?” he asks, leaning over to grab your discarded mug.
“Yeah, please, Jamie.”
James’ fingers wobble around the mug.
Remus glances up from his phone.
“Of course,” James says, smiling, “coming right up.”
Jamie, he thinks. Friends call him Jamie. He can be your friend, he’d love to be your friend, but Jamie. Even sick, you say it sweetly. He trips over himself trying to get what you asked.

Could you write a continuation of yandere satosugu where the reader lived and they try everything to help her get better and care for her?
| making up for mistakes | yandere satosugu x reader |
Tumblr media
-> continuation of the first part: link 🔗
you had survived the almost suicide attempt you so carefully & yet so carelessly attempted. you were sure you weren’t getting up after this. damn it you made sure to hit your head hard, you could see blanks, you could see stars in your eyes until it all faded to a peaceful nothing-ness.
now, you’re awake again. nothing hurts. you know they must’ve told their friend shoko to aid in your injuries. you feel like you’ve woken up from a long slumber. unwanted as it may be… it does make you feel eerily refreshed. you stretch your limbs from the bed, they’re going to kill you for this. kill you for hampering with their property. oh well — at this point you’re fine with it. what’s it going to do? hurt you. pain is all there is they could ever offer anyways. maybe you can scream out and wish it gets over. that’s all you set your mind to.
you look to the side, the curtains are open and there is a little drizzle of snow. it brings a smile to your face. what if you hadn’t been kidnapped? it would’ve been so fun to hop into one of the lovely cafes you like & order some hot cocoa. put both your hands and wrap them around the ceramic of the hot cup and exhale in utter relaxation of the aroma the sweet cafe has to offer. oh… happy days.
its nauseating what your life is now, wrapping a blanket around yourself and checking down below. you are wearing clothes, decent clothes… not the sultry, slutty ones that satoru forces you to wear. you feel like you could throw up when the reminder occurs again. beaten up like you were nothing but an animal, throwing up in pain and anxiety--
"there we go! princess! awake! oh my god!" satoru comes in and hugs you tightly, his bulky arms wrapping against you, he doesn't let your mind have the time to panic. besides, satoru was... not the one who inflicted you that pain. even though he did nothing about it, in a moment of pure misery, your mind would latch on to him for comfort. "baby- you scared daddy, please don't do that ever again. fuck! i thought i lost you." you could hear the heartbeats on your snow haired man, they were ragged and reminded of the same panic you once bore.
"sorry." your eyes lack all emotions, just a soft murmur escaping you. the haunting realization that you were alive was eating you up. even so, it was your soul that had died. it's the dejected way you answered that makes satoru panic even more. immediately at your knees, leaning against your thighs and mumbling soft apologies, tears wetting your skin. "please baby, I'm so sorry, i should never have let that happen... you did a mistake that's all! you- you- pissed us off." he shakes his head, hugging you tightly.
your hands robotically landed across his hair, caressing. "it's okay, i did wrong, i understand."
your responses were making him nauseous, he hated seeing you in pain, but suguru always says its something that's needed. why is it needed? you're not an animal, are you? the ways with which satoru and suguru try to 'discipline' their toy they are delusional enough to call their lover is insane.
"i got breakfast, little one." now, your heart sinks. you hear the voice of the man who did this to you, mothering, now that his rage is faded into pure, eviscerating guilt. "you have no idea the joy it gives me seeing you awake." suguru hums, and you latch onto satoru, hugging him tightly. satoru's heart skips a beat. this was not the first time you had reached out to him, yet, you did it by your own. it gives him a sick sense of protectiveness. "he wouldn't do anything to ya baby, suguru loves you too." he reminds, looking at a devastated suguru.
"please don't hurt yourself again, angel" suguru hums, leaning in and kissing your forehead. it makes you sick to your stomach, how they treat you right now. you know that whatever you did yielded no results. and they are ever so careful about the same. you're pretty sure you'd have either of them by your side at all times.
"let's go and eat, suguru's made your favorite!" satoru chirps, happily holding you princess-style and going to the dining area. your eyes wandered to the other room on the way, the same room where this all happened, it's making you panic internally. the grotesque reminder of how they treated you. you're about to throw up again.
as soon as satoru puts you down, you run to throw up in disgust, nothing comes out except a few drops of water. your stomach is empty as is. a large, looming hand caresses your back. "I'm sorry, angel. please relax." suguru-- it's suguru...
"i'm sorry." you answered, "i am so sorry." you nodded to get back to the dining area, you should know better than to be with satoru. its not like suguru wouldn't do anything he wants anyways... you'd just like to have some comfort over it.
luckily for you, the breakfast went fine, you were eating quietly, while satoru just observed you. how uncomfortable you looked, the subtle shift in your demeanor. every tiny thing. suguru is essentially doing the same, gazing at your way and observing you. "you look beautiful." suguru comments, and you force a smile from the deepest pits of your psyche. "thank you, suguru."
you know he's ticked off, you need to call them 'daddy' and you're here, addressing them by their first names. sigh... they just have to help you heal, there isn't anything they can do about it really. they pushed you this far, and they should make up for it.
however, as days turn into weeks, satoru and suguru are forced to face the haunting realization that your mental and physical health is worsening. you barely eat, barely talk... you just, stare into the nothingness of empty spaces. satoru has avoided missions to take care of you. he is by your side, sleeps next to you, kisses your forehead, helps you take a shower. while earlier, you tried to at least pretend and work with it. answer however you could, talk to them, fake your smiles, now its nothing. you barely talk.
this time, satoru has a mission to take care of, but suguru is the one who's spending time with you. gently placing you on the bathtub, caressing your forearm, massaging it, decorating it with petals. "there we go little girl, there we go. feels nice?" he coos, and when you don't respond, sighs weakly. he wishes he could at least hear something out of you. when he sees you immersed in auto-pilot, he hums by himself; "yes, yes it is." he has to talk to himself in hopes that its you talking to him. "you know, me and satoru... we were thinking a trip to Italy sounds nice, or maybe Paris.." you used to love travelling, he hopes that would utter out a response from you. NOTHING comes out of you however. that makes suguru's heart break a little, "or maybe, anywhere that you like." he hums, sighing.
"angel?" he asks softly, leaning in and kissing your neck, maybe that would at least earn some leaning back. your resistance...
none.
"talk to me for fucks sake!" suguru snarls, glaring hard at you. you don't even flinch at that, contrary to your earlier flinching and tweaking. a sigh escapes him and then comes bubbling tears. he has truly fucked you up. the haunting realization finally hits him. he can't live with it anymore... it's choking the very fiber of his being.
the rest of the shower passes by in a haze, and suguru is quiet, tears dripping from his face. "what should i do so that you become normal again?" he asks again, pouting and begging with his eyes. no response...
he gets up after tucking you in bed. the dark circles in your eyes are an explicit example of how less you're sleeping. sometimes you wake up with irritating nightmares, screaming and crying. that's the only moment when satoru and suguru are welcomed by your affections.
suguru sighs, he needs to win you this time. or maybe... what's that called? stockholm syndrome?
or maybe, he needs to discuss with satoru about erasing your memory...
or maybe, he needs a curse that can shove your memory off and then they can date you.. from scratch...
either way, they're not leaving you. anytime soon.

Tumblr media
the entire night, caitlin had gotten absolutely dogged on. the game had been brutal, not just physically but emotionally. she could still feel the sting of missed shots, the weight of turnovers, and the disappointment of her teammates' glares. the fans' cheers had turned to jeers, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of letting everyone down.
off the court, the media scrutiny was relentless. headlines dissected her every move, analyzing her performance with a critical eye. she was sick of it, and with each passing moment, her anger only seemed to grow stronger. she wanted to scream, to lash out at something, anything, that could bear the weight of her frustration.
"oh, fuck!" you moaned as you felt your eyes roll to the back of your head, gripping the sheets beneath you. caitlin had you bent over her bed as she fucked into you relentlessly, one of her hands gripping your hip as the other pushed your head into the mattress. "please,"
her thrusts were fast and unforgiving, she was absolutely wrecking you. you'd both been at it for what felt like hours but in reality, your legs felt like they were about to give out at any moment but neither of you cared ─ it felt so good.
"fuck, yeah. take it, fucking take it," caitlin's groans came out breathless as her head fell back, as if she could really feel you through the thick piece of plastic. "good fucking girl, yeah,"
you nodded your head against the mattress at her praise, feeling the coil in your stomach begin to tighten. you loved it when cait treated you like this ─ she was usually caring but right now it felt like she couldn't care less about how you felt.
and you can admit to almost anyone that having a hot and tall hooper girlfriend has many perks ─ including getting absolutely fucking wrecked by her strap after terrible games.
"please, fuck," you choked out as you felt yourself begin to shake underneath her, your face contorting into one of pure bliss.
"fucking slut," the words came out smoothly as you moaned in response. she wasn't ever much of a degrader but god, did it feel good.
caitlin gripped your hair even harder as she pulled you up so that she press kisses against your jaw as she continued to fuck into you. "you like that? fuck, baby, you like getting called a slut? yeah?"
"yeah," you sobbed out as caitlin pressed her lips against yours in a sloppy kiss.
caitlin pushed your head back against the mattress and somehow, her thrusts got even rougher and faster. "oh fuck yeah, take it like a slut. i know you like that shit, stop whining,"
that was all it took for you to cum around her strap, your cries of pleasure echoing throughout her apartment. she didn't stop, she kept fucking you until you rode out your high.
caitlin kept pressing sloppy kisses on your shoulders and neck as you caught your breath, she wrapped her arms around your naked back and pulled you closer. you could feel her smile on your neck as you both stayed like that for a few moments, relishing in each other.
and that was all she needed to feel okay again. suddenly all the media and all the bullshit didn't matter anymore, because at least you were with her. and at the end of the day, she has a sexy ass girlfriend who can take her rough strap game after a tough loss (and who supports and cherishes her).
she pulled out of you slowly, wary of your very sensitive pussy. you winced as her expression turned thoughtful, "you okay, honey?"
"yeah," you whispered out as caitlin's hands gripped your hips and slowly pushed you on the bed. you turned around to meet her face and she pushed your hair out of your face, taking in your beautiful face.
she put one leg on the bed and began to move toward you, only for the mattress to completely complete collapse underneath. caitlin's eyes widened in surprise as the mattress collapsed beneath her, sending both of you tumbling to the floor with a thud. you let out a startled gasp, the sudden movement catching you off guard.
for a moment, there was silence, save for the sound of your breathing and the creaking of the broken bed frame. then, a burst of laughter bubbled up from deep within you, and soon caitlin joined in, her laughter filling the room.
"holy shit, dude," you laughed as caitlin caught her breath.
caitlin kept giggling as she shook her head in amusement. "my strap game that good?"
"i can't believe we actually like... we broke the bed," you both dissolved into fits of laughter again, the absurdity of the situation sinking in.
caitlin smirked, a playful glint in her eyes. "i guess that's what happens when you bring your a-game," she quipped, earning another round of laughter from both of you. "my ego really, really needed that, whew."
your expression softened as your girlfriend looked back at you, before continuing. "no seriously, even if we keep this losing streak up, at least i have you to make me feel better."
"really? that was all it took, one good fuck and you're all better?" you smirked as caitlin nodded, in all seriousness.
"oh, yes. absolutely. half of those dudes can't get their girls to orgasm with their real dicks. i did it with a damn strap and i got you screaming your head off, oh and i broke the bed," caitlin explained as you began laughing again. "i'm never gonna be able to take 'em seriously now, cause like... sure i keep getting dogged on but i'm still adjusting and!"
she pulled you closer into her chest, "i have a sexy girlfriend,"
"that's the spirit, baby," you laughed again as you squeezed your tall girlfriend.
caitlin chuckled, her arms wrapping around you in a tight embrace. "damn right," she said, her voice filled with pride. "and don't you forget it."
"never doubted it for a second," you replied, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "you're the sexiest, most badass girlfriend a girl could ask for."
"i love you, sweetheart," she mumbled against your head as she leaned toward you again before she felt the bed give way beneath you both once more. this time, however, instead of laughter, there was a collective groan as you hit the floor with a thud.
"love you too, but how are we gonna sleep tonight?" you groaned as caitlin sighed.
"i'm calling a hotel, hold on," caitlin sighed as she got up from the broken bed and walked out of the room.

Waking up from her slumber, Y/N turns onto her back and gazes up at her husband through sleepy eyes.
He smiles down at her, “Hi, sleepyhead.”
“I’m sorry I fell asleep on you,” she pouts as she starts to feel guilty for falling asleep not even ten minutes into the movie. Now the two-hour movie is almost finished, and she couldn’t tell you how it went or even remembered how it started.
“It makes up for all the times I’ve fallen asleep on you during movie night,” he assures her and looks at her with concern. “Are you still not feeling too good?”
She nods and sits up as a wave of nausea washes over her. “I don’t know what’s going. I thought it might be the stomach flu but it’s coming up two weeks and it’s not easing off at all. The nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and fatigue. I just want it to end.”
“I think it's time to see a doctor,” he suggests, turning off the TV and getting up from the couch.
“I can schedule an appointment for tomorrow. It's not urgent,” she says.
“It's urgent for me. My wife has been sick for two weeks, and I want to find out what's causing it,” he says, heading to the door to put on his shoes and coat.
Without protest, she lets him help her with her shoes and jacket before they leave the house.
Tumblr media
Four long hours have passed slowly, making it feel like they’ve been sitting there for an eternity. Y/N's arm is connected to a fluid drip to replenish her hydration while they anxiously await the results of the blood tests.
Y/N's frustration is reaching its peak as she sits on the hospital bed, ready to throttle the next person who enters. She is becoming more agitated by the minute from all the constant beeping of the machines, people muttering to each other and the smell, that hospital grade disinfectant smell. She swears it’s ten times worse than it usually is and she knows the smell well. Her mother’s been a nurse since before Y/N was born. She’d often bring the smell home with her.
Finally, the doctor re-enters the cubicle with a surprising announcement. "Congratulations," he says, breaking the silence. "You're pregnant."
The young couple is left speechless, completely taken aback. They haven’t been trying for a baby, both agreeing to wait until next year after all the tour stuff is over.
Now, faced with this unexpected news, their plans are thrown into disarray. Y/N's frustration quickly transforms into a whirlwind of emotions - shock, fear, and a hint of excitement. She looks at Hongjoong, searching for some kind of reassurance.
The doctor continues, explaining the next steps and offering support. Y/N's mind races, not hearing anything the doctor is saying as she looks at Hongjoong, searching for some kind of reassurance.
Hongjoong, sensing Y/N's shift in emotions, reaches out and takes her hand. They exchange a knowing look, silently acknowledging that their lives are about to change in the best way possible.
"I’m sorry, could you please repeat all that?" Hongjoong politely asks the doctor, letting Y/N know that she wasn't the only one who missed what was said.
Tumblr media
As soon as Hongjoong and Y/N step foot in their apartment, Hongjoong pulls Y/N into his arms, and buries his face into her neck, as he repeats "I love you," over and over again.
She wraps her arms around him, holding him tightly, feeling his tears wet her skin. Feeling her own tears build up, she becomes overwhelmed
As the news of the unexpected pregnancy continues to sink in, the feelings from earlier, the shock, the fear and the little tinge of excitement, intensifies. Especially the fear and excitement.
In less than 8 months, their small family of two will become a family of three.

The Corn Cob (The Surprise, Part 14)
Tumblr media
Emily Prentiss x fem!reader Warnings: explicit language, discussion of AFAB body parts, pregnancy times, blood, medical/miscarriage scare, invasive medical exams (hello, again, Pap smear), vague references to past abuse, happy ending Word count: 2.4k
Summary: When you find blood in your underwear, you panic. Emily races to you, both working against time to make sure the baby is okay.
Week 24: The Corn Cob
You’d thought it was going to be a normal day, a good day even. It was Friday. Emily wasn’t in the field. She’d even promised to be home on time. You’d just returned from the grocery store with ingredients to cook dinner, when you had to run to the bathroom. You were always running to the bathroom these days. Little corn cob didn’t leave a whole lot of room for your bladder.
But when you pulled down your pants, a flash of red made your stomach drop. You sat down heavily on the toilet, head reeling. You felt like you might be sick. You’d had cramps today, but that wasn’t unusual. It wasn’t supposed to be unusual. But the blood? This was way too much blood to be spotting. You looked down at your stomach, placing your hands on either side, and hoping, praying, with everything you had in you, that the little one was okay. But you hadn’t felt her kick all day. Something was wrong. Something was very wrong.
Your breath was caught in your throat, and you couldn’t seem to pull it in. You pressed your hands to your face and noticed that you were crying, that your hands were shaking. You didn’t think you’d ever been so scared, so helpless.
You pulled out your phone, letting out a sob as your home screen came to life–one of the sonogram photos of the baby’s blurry little face. It was dialing, and suddenly you were even more scared to tell Emily. What if you had lost the baby? You didn’t think you’d ever forgive yourself if you lost her. How would Emily?
“Hi, honey!” Her voice was so bright, so happy. You felt paralyzed with fear.
You sucked in a shaky breath, and Emily’s tone changed immediately.
“Y/N? What’s wrong?”
“Emily, I’m bleeding!” you gasped, tears streaming down your face as you wrapped your arms around your baby bump.
“What!?”
You could hear her voice shift, could hear movement, and you knew she was coming. You felt the wave of panic subside just a little. Not much, but a little. Emily was coming. She was on her way. You needed her, and she was coming.
“What do you mean bleeding?!” she asked, frantic. “Bleeding where!?”
“Out my vagina!” you cried, sucking in big gulps of air that didn’t seem to ever get to your lungs. You felt lightheaded.
“Okay,” she said, and you could tell she was trying her best to stay calm, even as her voice shook, even as you knew she had to be panicking herself. “Okay. Honey? I need you to hang up and call Dr. Delgado.”
“I’m scared, Em…” Your voice was high and desperate, and tears dripped from your face.
Her voice changed again, and you heard the ambient noise of traffic. She would be here soon. She was coming. “It’s gonna be okay, baby. Alright? I’m on my way. I’ll be there as soon as I can. But I need you to call Dr. Delgado. Can you do that for me?”
“Yes.” You nodded, even though she couldn’t see you.
“Okay. That’s good, honey. You’re doing great. Now you hang up and you call her. And then you can call me back right after, okay?”
“Okay.”
“I love you,” Emily added. And it was only then that you could really hear the fear in her voice, the absolute terror.
“I love you, too,” you told her, trying to stop a fresh wave of tears.
All the panic Emily’s voice had kept at bay came flooding back in after she hung up, and your fingers were shaky as you scrolled through your contacts to find Dr. Delgado.
The conversation was quick, no-nonsense. Just questions and answers. But as soon as Dr. Delgado determined that the bleeding wasn’t light, she got serious.
“Y/N, you need to go to the emergency room as soon as possible,” she told you.
“Is this…” You gulped. “Am I miscarrying?” You were afraid to ask, afraid to hear the answer.
“It’s rare in the second trimester, but I can’t say for sure. It’s imperative for you to get to the hospital as soon as you can.”
“Okay. I will.” You were suddenly even more scared than you’d been before.
“Give me a call once you’ve been seen,” she told you.
“Thanks, Dr. Delgado.”
Trying to pull yourself together, you got up, running to your closet for a new pair of underwear, adhering so many pads to it that you might as well have been wearing a diaper. You rang Emily on speakerphone, and she picked up immediately.
“What’d she say?!”
“I need to go to the hospital,” you told her, stumbling as you pulled on a pair of maternity leggings.
Emily exhaled shakily. “Alright,” she said. “I’ll be there in ten minutes. Meet me in the parking lot. Are you okay? Can you make it down there?”
“Mmhm.” You sniffed. “How’d you get here so fast?!”
“I took a Bureau SUV. Morgan’s driving. We’ve got the lights and sirens going.”
“Please hurry,” you said, quiet and scared, locking the door behind you and sprinting to the elevator.
“I’m coming, baby. Just a little bit longer. It’s gonna be okay.”
Emily quite literally leapt out of the passenger side of the SUV as it screeched into the parking lot. Her eyes were wide and alarmed as she ran to you, nearly tackling you in a hug. You were so relieved to see her you thought your knees might buckle under you. Seeing her triggered a fresh wave of tears, and she cupped your face, wiping them away.
“It’s alright, honey. I’m here.” She led you to the back of the SUV, never letting go of your arm, never removing her hand from your back where she held you steady. Then, slamming the door, she sprinted to the other side, jumping in the backseat with you.
“Drive,” she told Morgan.
“Jesus Christ, Derek!” you exclaimed, as you peeled out of the parking lot and onto the road, swerving and moving at speeds that would be illegal in any other situation.
“Sorry, mama,” he called back. “Gotta get you to the hospital.”
“Just close your eyes, honey,” Emily said, kissing the side of your head, and pulling you protectively into her.
Emily scanned you up and down, one of her hands resting on your baby bump. You were trying very hard to keep from crying.
“Are you in pain?” she asked quietly.
You shook your head, blinking back tears. “Cramps, but I didn’t think anything of it. I should’ve known something was wrong. I just– I thought she was sleepy today. I haven’t felt her move. God, I’m so stupid! What if she’s–” You sucked in a shaky breath.
“Hey, hey, hey,” Emily said, placing her hands on either side of your face. “You’re spiraling. We don’t know that anything’s wrong. Let’s not worry until we have to.”
But she was worried, too. You could tell. Your eyes were swimming. “I’m so scared, Em,” you squeaked.
“Me too,” she sighed, pressing her forehead to yours.
At the ER, you thought Emily might actually assault a health professional to get you seen faster. Your anxiety came out in tears. Emily’s anxiety came out in her being absolutely, terrifyingly authoritative. You kept tugging on her sleeve, hissing, “Em, don’t be mean! They’re just doing their jobs!”
But you had to hand it to her. She got shit done. You were in an OBGYN exam room with a doctor–”A doctor, not a nurse!” Emily insisted–within fifteen minutes of your arrival. Which, in your experience, was nearly unheard of.
The doctor sat and rolled over to the exam table. You sat, holding Emily’s hand tightly, already in the hospital gown one of the nurses had given. “Thank you so much,” you’d said, trying to make up for Emily’s brashness. He held a clipboard, reading the scribbled intake notes the nurse had taken.
“Alright, Ms… Y/L/N?”
You nodded.
“I’m Dr. Booker. I see you’ve had some vaginal bleeding today. Would you classify it as a lot or a little?”
“A lot,” you replied, voice shaky.
“Okay,” he nodded. “Any pain, nausea, fever?”
“Umm, just some cramps. Nothing really bad.”
He scribbled a bit more.
“Okay.” He set the clipboard down and slapped his hands on his thighs, rolling even closer to you. “Mind if I take a look?”
You gulped and nodded, tears threatening at your eyes again, as you watched him roll to the nearby cabinets and pull out a speculum. Emily squeezed your hand, watching you sympathetically. She knew that you did, in fact, mind if he took a look. This was your worst nightmare as far as doctor visits went. Not only did someone have to touch you, look at you, shove something inside of you, but it was a man. And you hadn’t had any time at all to emotionally prepare.
You trembled. Emily pressed her lips to your ear as the doctor pulled on gloves. “Do you want me to ask for a woman?” She was so quiet you could barely hear her.
You shook your head, staring hard at the ceiling. “I just want to know what’s wrong,” you whispered. “As fast as possible.”
She kissed your forehead, smoothing your hair as you lay back. You breathed deeply, trying to prepare yourself for the cold metal, the pressure, the feeling of being violated that somehow never went away, no matter how many times you had to do this stupid examination. But this time, it was for your baby. And you would do anything, anything at all, to protect your child.
So you braced yourself against the speculum, sucking in a shaky breath as the doctor forced it inside of you, seemingly oblivious to the ordeal he was facilitating. Emily held your hand tight in one of hers, the other gently rubbing the side of your face, catching any tears that fell.
She hated this. She hated this for you. But she loved you so deeply, so desperately for being so brave. She’d always known that you were the one for her, had known from the very beginning, but she knew even more now, in this moment, that she couldn’t have found a better person to have a child with. You were mothering, she realized. Right now, on this exam table, choking back tears, trying hard not to write away from the doctor’s hands inside of you. You were being the baby’s mom. And she loved you so much for it.
“Ah!” the doctor exclaimed, rolling away for a moment and leaving the speculum inside you. You felt your heart drop. You couldn’t breathe as you waited for him to roll back, to finish his thought. Emily’s leg bounced so fast and so hard that the sound seemed to take over the whole room.
The doctor rolled back with a petri dish, and you flinched as he reached back inside you. You felt a pinch and gasped, then grimaced as the doctor placed a small stalk of tissue into the petri dish and shut the lid.
“Cervical polyp,” he said. “Nothing to worry about. The little buggers just bleed a lot.”
“Oh, thank god.” Emily let out a shaky sigh, bending forward and pressing her hand over her mouth.
“So the baby’s okay?” you asked, terrified to hear the answer.
“Healthy as a horse,” he nodded. “I can do an ultrasound if it’ll make you feel better.”
You both nodded vigorously.
“What about Y/N?” Emily pressed. “Is she okay? What is a… cervical polyp?”
He waved her off. “She’s completely fine. Cervical polyps are just irregular growths. Very common. Almost always benign.”
“Almost!?” Emily exclaimed, sitting up rail straight, eyebrows furrowed.
“We’ll send it off for testing just to be sure, but 99% of them are benign.”
Your body shook with relief, but you couldn’t quite let the anxiety go. Not until you’d seen the baby.
Emily bit her nails as the doctor squirted the gel on your belly, rubbing the wand over your baby bump.
You let out a relieved sob as the baby’s head came into view, and Emily planted kiss after kiss on your cheek. The sound of the heartbeat filled the room, and you and Emily pressed your heads together, both weepy, both more relieved than perhaps you’d ever been.
“All’s well, ladies,” he said, removing his gloves and handing you a paper towel to wipe off the gel. “It’s been a pleasure. A nurse will bring your discharge papers by. You might experience some cramping, and the bleeding won’t stop right away. But it should slow and stop within the next 24 hours.”
“Thank you so much,” Emily said, rising to shake his hand. She was all charm now that you and the baby were okay.
But, even still, she did not let her hands leave you even once as you walked into the waiting room, Derek wrapping his wide arms around both of you.
“I’m not gonna lie, mama, you had me worried,” he said, squeezing your hand. He left to get the car, and you and Emily made your way outside to wait for him.
“Jesus Christ,” Emily mumbled shakily, her arm around your waist to steady you. “I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared in my life.”
You frowned at her. “You’ve literally been held hostage. You had to fake your own death.”
“Uh-huh,” she said, pulling you into her chest and resting her chin on your head. “And the thought of losing you or the little guy is way worse than either of those things.”
Emily held your face between her hands and pressed a kiss to your forehead before melding her lips with yours. You sighed into her, the anxiety and panic of the day rolling off of you.
You jumped at the sound of a car horn. Derek smirked, rolling down the window. “I swear, you two can’t go two minutes without being all over each other.”
You blushed, and Emily flipped him off, but you were both loose and happy with relief. You let Emily wrap you in her arms in the backseat, knowing that she’d need that for a while–to hold you close, protectively, to reassure herself that you were safe.
You knew you’d get home and lay down and she’d get you your heating pad, and then she’d pull your head into her chest, lace her legs with yours. And you’d feel like nothing bad in the world could touch you, not in Emily’s arms.

Tumblr media
You are an idiot. Completely and entirely so. It's been about two weeks since the kiss and you have been avoiding Leo since. For a child of Aphrodite, you really are dense.
It's not like you can avoid him fully; being on Argo II means there's not many places to hide. And plus you're supposed to be best friends with Leo, nobody else knows why you are suddenly running away whenever he appears. It's a shitty thing to do, you know that. But what else can you do? Are you ready for love? Was that kiss a mistake?
So of course Annabeth tells you Leo needs help in the engine room, in a sort of way you can't say no. So here you are, standing awkwardly while you hand Leo various tools. You feel sick to your stomach, absolutely filled with nerves. How can you possibly begin to explain why you ran out on Leo?
After moments of silence, Leo speaks, “I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable with the kiss. I must have misread some signals or something”
And your heart practically shatters. Of course he blames himself. How can you be so stupid as to hurt him? But your mouth is dry and there are no words coming out. You weren't uncomfortable with the kiss, just say that!
“No, it's fine.” You manage to say, internally slapping yourself. A child of Aphrodite and major flirt. Yet here you are, awkward as can be. Why can't you explain your feelings? Leo deserves better.
“Seriously though, can we talk? I don't want you to be upset with me.” Leo said, leaning back to look at you. He was dirty with oil staining his clothes, his eyes void of his usual impish gleam. You wanted to throw up.
“What's there to talk about?” You replied, far harsher than you meant to. Leo winces, and looks away.
“You've been avoiding me. I figure it's because of the kiss. But I don't want to lose our friendship because I misread something.” Leo replied, the sincerity in his tone making you want to cry. Why are you such an idiot?
And then you had to keep going, talking straight out of your ass. “I mean it was a mistake anyway. We can just forget it ever happened.”
Leo looked shocked and then hurt. Like a dog tucking their tail in with defeat. You wanted to apologize and say anything to make him feel better again. But words fail.
“Oh, if that's what you want.” Leo replied, any excitement in his eyes dying right before you. You froze, half wanting to run away and half needing to apologize. You unfortunately do the former.
A couple days later and the rest of Argo II has had enough. Piper had taken it into her own hands.
“Hey, can you get something in the storage room please?” Piper asked you, prompting you to agree pretty quickly. You can be nice, especially when it comes to your sister.
You quickly realize your mistake when two things happen:
Leo is also in the storage room looking as confused as you
The door is now locked
Piper locked the door. Of course she did. You tried your best to stay calm and not act a total fool. Maybe you'll finally have your chance to apologize to Leo. Even if he looks very uncomfortable to you.
You were trying to say “I'm fucking sorry” or “Are you okay?” But unfortunately it came out as, “Are you fucking sorry?”
You winced the same time as Leo before you quickly attempt to remedy it, “Sorry, I mean to say I'm so fucking sorry. Gods, I am so sorry.”
You groan loudly, covering your blushing face with your hands. You wish the Earth could open up and simply swallow you whole. It would be a hell of a lot easier than dealing with the aftermath of the walking disaster that is you.
The weirdest part is the fact you normally are extremely flirtatious. But that's when it comes to Leo Valdez, you are a complete, flustering, bumbling fool.
You need to say this. You need to get it out and explain the utter way he consumes your heart. But right you can barely stand to look him in the eye without exploding with embarrassment.
“Alright, don't interrupt me.” You begin to say, eyes squeezed shut and voice shaky with nerves, “or say a word until I'm done. Because otherwise I'll just die of embarrassment. And I need to tell you this.”
When you don't hear anything you start speaking, parting your lips as the words flow. You describe the way his smile makes your heart flutter, the way his stupid, stupid jokes that always leave you breathless and grinning, the way his eyes light up when he talks about his newest inventions. You explain it all, you tell him the way your heart aches so heavily when avoiding him. How you've been an utter fool for so long, how you thanked the gods when he kissed you.
You apologize for running away, like a coward. You explain that you were scared and embarrassed and too much of a wimp to confront him. You feel ridiculous for rambling this long but you keep going; you can't stop. Not until-
He says your name, in a way you've never heard before. It was low and softened around the edges, intimate and solely for you.
You hesitantly look up at him, your heart stalling when you see the look in his eyes. He looked at you like you are his entire universe, his entire reason for existing. That was enough to make anyone swoon, especially a child of Aphrodite like yourself. You don't even realize you had been crying until Leo's hand brushes against your cheek to wipe them away.
“Can I kiss you?” He asks softly, his face inches away from your own. You nod slightly, lips parted instinctively. Your hands find their way to clutching the front of his camp shirt, his hands locked into your hair.
Finally Leo leans in, his lips pressing against your own. It's like everything you've dreamed and not at the same time. His lips are chapped and rough, but they tasted sweet. Your heart flutters in your body, rising and rising like a butterfly ready to fly. Your mouth opens, his warm tongue slipping through as he explores your mouth. It was like your first kiss but so much better, it was so perfect.
Leo pulls away, cheeks flushed and breath heavy. But he has an idiotic grin on his lips that likely matches yours.
“Are you still mad at me for ignoring you like an idiot?” You ask, unable to fight the smile on your face and the affection in your eyes.
Leo pretends to take a moment to consider, his hands slipping to your hips as he pulls you closer. He gives you a smug smirk and whispers in your ear, “I'm still mad but if you give me more of those kisses, I might change my mind.”
He didn't have to say it twice.

ⴵ My Best Friend’s Little Sister - Part 2 | Yelena Belova ⴵ
Tumblr media
Pairing: Yelena Belova x reader
Warnings: none
Summary: You get a second chance to tell Yelena how you feel about her. . .
Part 1
________________________________________________
Pain.
It’s the first thing I feel when I start to come around. I thought dying was supposed to be peaceful.
I groan and force my eyes open. Everything is bright. Too bright even, but I force myself to keep my eyes open.
That’s when I take in my surroundings. I’m in bed in a small, white room. The wall to my left is made entirely of glass, which allows me to see all the people that walk by without paying any attention to me.
They’re all dressed in white and as more time goes by and my brain starts to catch up, I realize where I am; The medical ward of the Avengers Compound.
This has to be some sick joke, I think. I died! How am I here? Unless this is what the afterlife looks like… No, that can’t be it.
My eyes travel around the room some more and that’s when I notice all the machines next to my bed. They have colorful wires attached to them that disappear under my blanket and are attached to me.
The heart rate monitor above my head beeps quietly, almost inaudibly, and indicates that I am, in fact, still alive.
A wave of pain rushes through me when I try to sit up, and I fall back into my pillows with a cry.
That’s when several alarms start to go off and I’m afraid I’ve done something wrong. However when one of the doctors rushes into my room to check what happened, she freezes at the sight of me staring back at her.
“You’re awake,” she says in disbelief and before I can reply she rushes out of the room only to return a second later with Dr. Cho in tow.
She looks surprised as well, but smiles when she sees me. “Welcome back, Y/N. I must admit, that was a close one.”
“H-how am I still here?” I rasp, my throat feeling like sandpaper. I cough slightly and let Dr. Cho shine her penlight into my eyes before the nurse from before hands me a cup of water. I thank her with a nod and drink slowly, the cold liquid easing my overwhelming thirst instantly.
“Well,” Dr. Cho slips the light back into her coat pocket and smiles softly. “What happened is nothing short of a miracle, but I guess you have to thank Wanda.”
I raise my eyebrows. “Wanda?“
Dr. Cho nods and mumbles something to the nurse before turning her attention back to me as the nurse swiftly leaves the room. “Yes. She got to you just in time and used her magic to stop your bleeding.”
I huff in astonishment and lean back against the now elevated part of my bed. My mind is still somewhat foggy so I don’t ask any more questions and let Dr. Cho do some more tests.
It’s quiet for a couple minutes before the door bursts open.
I slowly turn my head in the direction of the commotion to find a familiar redhead staring at me with tears in her eyes. “You’re awake…”
My heart swells at the sight and I manage a tired smile in response. “Hey, Nat.”
That’s all it takes for her to rush forward and pull me into a bone-crushing hug. I wince but don’t say anything because I need this just as much as she does.
“You’re such an asshole,” she says when she pulls back to sit on the edge of the bed. “You died, Y/N! Right in my arms. Who does that?”
I chuckle sadly and take one of her hands, watching as she wipes away her tears with the other. “I’m sorry, Nat.”
Nat shakes her head and squeezes my hand tightly, her eyes fixed on me as though I could disappear any second. “I know. . .I know. It’s just— No one could tell if you were ever going to wake up again a-and I just missed you so much.”
“I’m really sorry,” I say again. “H-how long was I out?”
The uneasy silence that settles between us makes my stomach churn. It can’t have been that long, can it?
“How long?” I whisper, now suddenly afraid of the answer.
Nat bites her bottom lip and averts her eyes. “Almost a year.”
“What?!“ I cough and take another sip of water. “A whole year?”
“Nine months,” Nat clarifies and I close my eyes in disbelief.
How can it have been that long? The mission flashes through my mind as though it only happened yesterday and then I remember those green eyes that watched me fall. Those beautiful, green eyes…
“Yelena,” I gasp and my eyes dart around the room. “Is she okay? Where is she?”
My eyes meet Nat’s and she frowns. “She’s alright, but—“
“But what?” I interrupt, groaning in pain as I move to get up. A hand on my shoulder pushed me back down and I don’t fight it because I’m exhausted.
Nat watches me with pity and takes her hand back to place it on my knee over the blanket. “She’s gone AWOL a month ago. . . She couldn’t handle you like, well, this.”
“Oh.”
My heart breaks at the thought of Yelena crying over my unconscious body for months. Where could she have gone if even Nat can’t find her? How is she now? Is she sad? Angry, maybe? I have to find her. I have to tell her I love her now that I’ve gotten a second chance. But first I have to find her.
Seeing how dejected I am, Nat nudges me with a small, teasing smile. “Hey, I still have to talk to you about that, by the way… I can’t believe the two of you have been going out all this time without telling me.“
I will find her, I think. For now, I have to recover though, just enough so I can get out of here. The thought of finding her lifts my spirits and I feel my cheeks heat up under Nat’s watchful eyes. “I know, I’m sorry. We were going to tell you after the mission,” I defend weakly.
Nat raises an eyebrow. “Uh huh. That doesn’t change the fact that you went behind my back to date my sister though.”
I cringe and don’t dare to look up. It’s silent for a moment but then Nat laughs quietly.
“I’m just kidding,” she says honestly. “I trust you more than anyone and I know you could never hurt her.”
I shake my head with wide eyes. “Never. I swear. She’s my everything.”
Nat beams at me and squeezes my knee. “I know, I can see it in the way you go all mushy when you think about her.”
I feel my cheeks heat up again and try to play it cool by scoffing. “What are you taking about? I’m a super soldier. There’s literally nothing mushy about me.”
“Sure, honey. Keep telling yourself that.” Nat laughs and it does nothing to tame my growing embarrassment.
I chuckle too and scratch the back of my neck. “Oh, shut up.”
After that we continue to catch up and Nat fills me in on everything I’ve missed which isn’t much. The rest of the team also stops by at some point and I almost crush Wanda in a hug when I thank her for saving my life.
She just laughs and squeezes my hand, saying I would have done the same for her if the roles were reversed.
I still can’t believe I’m alive and even though I’m happy to have everyone around me, I can’t help but think of Yelena being all alone, not knowing I pulled through.
It’s been two weeks since I woke up and I’ve slowly but surely gotten back on my feet. The rehabilitation exercises Dr. Cho showed me are helping me get around on my own and Nat being by my side every step of the way is also a big help.
She’s tried to contact Yelena several times, however like the times before, her efforts have been in vein. It’s not surprising though because if Yelena doesn’t want to be found, she won’t be found.
There is however one place she could be at that only I know about, so that’s where I’m headed now.
It’s pouring and I’m exhausted from the effort it took to get into the city unnoticed by the public. I took the subway and am now walking the rest of the way with my hood up against the weather.
When I finally get to the apartment building, I pull out my keys and unlock the front door. I’m just about to pull my hood down when a bunch of teenagers come my way, so I leave it up and look down in hopes of not being recognized.
They pass without saying a word, so I slip inside, keeping my hood up just to be safe.
I take the elevator up to the right floor and get off, my wet shoes squeaking on the ground as I make my way to the familiar apartment door.
I look around to make sure nobody’s in sight and unlock the door. I go inside and don’t turn on the light, letting the door close behind me with a soft click.
The place is just as I remember it, even in the dark, small, warm, inviting and filled with a bunch of memories. The person who’s part of all these memories though is nowhere to be found, so I slip off my shoes with a sigh.
I’m too tired to go back to the compound now, so I’ll just stay here for the night and return in the morning.
I limp through the dark, my scars hurting from moving around so much, and make my way to the bedroom to get a dry set of clothes.
The bed looks untouched, confirming my conclusion that no one’s here. When I reach for the closet though, I freeze when a gun is pressed to the back of my neck.
I still haven’t taken down my hood, so I can’t glimpse over my shoulder at whoever it is. I don’t have to though because when the person speaks, my heart swells.
“You have one chance to tell me who you are and what you are doing here before I shoot you.”
I find myself smiling and slowly raise my hands to lower my hood. “Well, I better make it count then…”
The gun drops from my back and I turn around slowly to find Yelena staring at me with wide, glistening eyes. She’s wearing shorts and an oversized black hoodie which I recognize as one of mine.
“What— How—?” she stutters, her bottom lip trembling. I reach for the gun and take it from her hands, placing it on the dresser beside us.
Yelena is frozen in place but when I slowly take her hand in mine, she crumbles. Tears spill from her eyes and her knees buckle and I’m quick to wrap my arms around her waist. Her hands claw at my jacket to pull me closer as she sobs into my chest. “You’re here,” she whimpers. “You’re here…”
Feeling my own tears rolling down the side of my face, I squeeze my eyes shut and kiss the crown of her head. “I am, baby. I’m right here.”
Yelena keeps clinging to me as if I’m about to disappear the second she lets go. “W-when did y-you—? she sobs against me and I know what she wants to know so I kiss the top of her head again and lean back a little to see her eyes.
“When did I wake up?” I unravel one arm from around her waist to brush some hair behind her ear. “Two weeks ago. We tried contacting you, but you’d gone off the grid.”
Yelena leans into my touch and closes her eyes with furrowed eyebrows. “I’m sorry, I should have been there. I just. . . I couldn’t. Y-you died, Y/N. I saw you d-die right in front of me and—“ she lets out another sob and buries her face back in the crook of my neck.
I just hold her close and whisper reassurances in her ear. “Shhh, it’s okay. I’m okay. I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere.”
It takes a couple of minutes for Yelena to finally calm down and pull away again to look at me. She raises a hand and traces her finger over my brows and down the bridge of my nose as if she’s trying to commit every little detail about me to memory.
I let her do her thing and stay silent, watching as the last of her tears escape her eyes. She is breathtaking, even now in the moonlit room. Yes, her eyes are sunken in and it feels like she’s lost some weight, but she’s still the girl I fell in love with all those months ago.
“You’re really here,” she finally whispers one more time before her eyes meet mine. I nod and kiss the pad of her finger which has landed on my lips.
Yelena sighs and slides her hand over my cheek to the back of my neck to pull me in for a kiss. It’s soft and our lips are barely even moving, but it’s enough to make me forget about everything other than this moment, right here, right now.
She really is my everything, so when we both part for some air, I’m finally ready to reveal my true feelings, but then she beats me to it.
“I love you, Y/N,” she whispers, her breath fanning my lips.
“You do?” It takes me by surprise. So much so that I pull back with wide eyes. Of course I knew that she liked me, otherwise we wouldn’t be in a relationship, but up until now I thought my feelings for her outweighed the feelings she had for me.
Yelena doesn’t seem fazed by my reaction and simply nods with a watery smile. “I do. I’ve loved you ever since you snuck into my room the first time to hold me after I’ve had a nightmare.”
I smile at the memory. That was right before we started dating. I knew about her nightmares because her room was right next to mine and my super soldier hearing always picked up on her jolting awake.
Closing the distance between us, I press another soft kiss to Yelena’s lips. She sinks into it, but starts smiling eventually which breaks the kiss.
I rest my forehead against hers and close my eyes, nudging my nose against hers playfully, whispering, “I love you, too.”
Yelena chuckles and runs her fingers through the baby hairs at the back of my neck. “I know. I can feel it.”
She pecks my lips a couple of times and I keep my eyes closed, savoring this moment as long as I can before I start shivering.
Yelena and I pull apart and it’s then that we realize that I’m still wearing my soaked clothes. It’s so bad that even the front of Yelena’s clothes are wet now.
“Sorry about that,” I whisper sheepishly, gesturing at her clothes.
“Don’t be.” Yelena unzips my jacket and helps me slip it off my shoulders. It lands on the carpet with a wet thud and I shiver again, so Yelena takes my hand and leads me to the bathroom. “Come on, let’s get you warmed up.”
I follow without complaint and turn on a small light as Yelena gets to work on preparing a bath. She adds some of my favorite oils and soaps to the water and checks the temperature several times before turning back to me.
She wordlessly unzips my pants after looking at me for approval and helps me out of the rest of my clothes.
“Y/N. . .” She whispers with horrified eyes when her eyes land on my new scars. Tentatively, she lifts her hand and traces a finger over the one on close to my shoulder.
It’s still a little sore and red, and Dr. Cho said it would take some more time to fade, but it doesn’t bother me.
“I’m okay, my love,” I say quietly, placing a hand over Yelena’s. Her worried eyes meet mine and I take her hand and place a reassuring kiss to her palm. “I promise, I’m alright.”
She bites her bottom lip with furrowed eyebrows before eventually relaxing visibly.
I press another kiss to her palm and brush a strand of hair behind her ear. “Now, how about that bath?”
Nodding, she steps back and takes off her own clothes, taking my hand to lead me to the tub. She turns off the water and steps in first, sitting forward until I sink in behind her.
I wrap my arms around her middle and pull her closer, pressing a kiss to the top of her head once she’s relaxed against my chest.
Her hands find mine around her stomach and she interlaces our fingers with a sigh.
The rain outside pelts against the window and I turn my head to watch the twinkling lights of the busy city. Yelena does the same and by the look in her eyes I can tell she’s deep in thought.
After a couple of minutes she shifts and whispers, “Y/N?”
I tear my eyes away from the city and look at her. “Yes, my love?”
Her green eyes look soft in the low light and I can’t help but press a kiss to her forehead. “What happens now? I mean, what are we going to do?”
I squeeze her hands and run my thumbs over her stomach. I’ve been giving that question a lot of thought myself and I’ve come to the conclusion that I want to take a break from saving the world every other day. “I don’t know. What do you want?”
Yelena’s eyes flicker between my own and she frowns in thought. “I don’t know. Can we just stay here for a while?”
I smile and crane my neck to peck her lips. It makes her smile and when I pull back her eyes are glittering with happiness. “Of course. We can do whatever you want.”

Ive been possessed with the thought of a super angsty Rolan romance fic. Specifically while he's still studying under Lorroakan.
Like imagine you/tav are a magic user that's a regular at Sorcerous Sundries.
Warning, abuse mentions
●Rolan's instantly smitten and you two bond and become close over your shared interests and struggles with magic. The whole mutual pining song and dance.
●Youre a great comfort to him but he still feels like he's falling apart a lot of the time. He doesn't think he should confess his feelings because he doesn't feel worthy of you. Doesn't feel like he can offer you enough. And whatever he does he cant let you know about Lorroakan. About anything thats happening. He's aching for help but he's just too ashamed to dare ask for it. What would you think of him?
●Rolan can't let on that anything is wrong. It gets harder as- of course -when you see his bruises youre very concerned. But he just can't let it happen so he's careful not let anything too negative about his master slip out in case you figure it out.
●Until one day he comes into work to see Lorroakan giving you a demonstration on a particularly tricky spell. He's frozen with fear and anxiety. So he just observes. At first everything looks standard. Until you ask a question and suddenly Lorroakan's standing far too close to you and an alarm just goes off in his head.
●Rolan just breaks down. Lashing out at both of you. Because why wouldn't you want a learned wizards advice? Why would you think anything was wrong. Nothing seems remiss but it never does at first, does it? The though of him being anywhere near you sends him into a rage. The idea of you being hurt in anyway makes him sick to his stomach.
●Rolan storms out, clearly distressed. He'll be punished for it be he doesn't care. You fallow him, begging to let you help him, to tell you whats wrong. He ends up yelling at you to leave him be and not to ever came back. You're crying by the time you go and so his he.
●Hes absolutely numb and frightened and doesn't know what to do. Rolan feels like he's losing to one thing he had left but he doesn't want you near him if there's even a possibility you could get hurt.
Ahhh Im screaming inside and i feel like I need to get it out of my brain or it'll explode. Idk if I just should do a little one off or like really dig into the drama. Would you be interested? Any thoughts let me know.

I just listened to a song talking about "keep quiet ur fears are too loud" and I can't get it out of my head. For one ppl are so fucking creative and two it set my stomach on fire cause I want to sing I want to experience shit. And I want to not always feel lonely as much as I do. But I have to work I can't even get a dumbass apartment cause I was 4K short of money I made. I can't feel loved I don't feel it from family never really did. The neglect out wayed everything else. And I'm still trying to get over so much. I visited my brothers a few days ago and some part of me feels like I'll be left by them. Then my mind started spiraling what if they struggled with stuff but I wasn't strong enough to help and support them. I'd rather be the one hurt than them. Yeah I know I'm letting my anxiety take over I can't not think about certain stuff I just push it away before the thoughts get too bad. Anyways I wish I could see them more often I miss them all the time. They are brothers from my dad side but we grew up like we had the same parents or tried too.
And honestly the song reminded me of Ellie being traumatized I kinda wish there was more times that showed her "in distress" maybe I sound like a sick fuck for saying that, but yeah tlou is wild. I'd say for the ppl that don't like heavy stories like that AT LEAST play it one good time.
Anyways I guess I'm done typing out my fears and wants for the night, my soul yearns for something idk what it is to fulfill her. What does she want :) lol idk but I know life can be taken away from me at any second so I'm just taking it a day at a time and I could still say I did my best I did what I could with how many obstacles were thrown at me . Ngl tlou and cyberpunk still make me feel so emo especially cyberpunk. That shit had me fucked all the way up after the dlc I love the game dearly but I'd really like a break. It's been 5months? Since I touched the game fully putting hours into it. I was planning to do a "evil " playthrough for PL ;-; I still miss my gf songbird also I'm sad a mutual deactivated their account I loved their so mi content a lot :,/

One standard month.
It’s been one standard month since you’ve seen Mando. You’re trying not to fixate on the larger gap of time and what it could mean. You’ve hardly had the time anyway. Casia’s a whole new place. With the changing of the seasons and the influx of travelers, the village has been transformed from a small, off-the-beaten-path type of town to a bustling hub in between major cities.
But when you’re alone at night, the thoughts of Mando seep in.
Where is he?
When will you see him again?
Does he think of you, too?
You sit in silence with the truth, letting it eat away at you at night. It’s in the back of your mind, hiding out of the corner of your eye. Never facing it head-on. That’s admitting defeat. It’s easier to pretend that the truth is something much kinder.
With the new breath of life in Casia, your business has also grown. The requests from your regular customers for more obscure, specific stuff have been overwhelming, combined with the new customers you’ve accumulated. You’ve had to make more trips to Coruscant for supply runs over the past two months. You’re anxious that Mando will pass through town when you’re not home.
The reality is, that you’re running yourself ragged to Coruscant, three times since you last saw Mando. And you’re barely living life. You think you might have to hire an assistant and you don’t even know where to begin. Sulee will know what to do and even amid all the chaos, you’ll always squeeze in time for her words of wisdom.
It’s the middle of the week and later in the day. If you don’t go now Sulee will be in bed already. Inventory can wait until tomorrow.
When you leave your house the streets of Casia are crowded, but that’s the norm lately. It won’t last long, though. Nighttime is about to settle in and the crowd will migrate to the cantina like they always do. With all of the business Casia’s seen lately you wonder how Sulee’s been handling it. And then you feel guilty again for not checking in and a pit forms in your stomach.
Not now, you tell yourself.
Her light is still on so you slowly let yourself in, peering around the door and looking at her as he sits in front of her trusty wood-burning stove. She’s stirring a pot and whatever she’s cooking up smells delicious. And like always, it’s impossibly warm inside, sweat forming on the back of your knees and down your spine.
“What are you cooking?” you ask, sitting on a stool on the other side of the stove.
“Soup. Been feeling under the weather.”
“It’s from all the people passing through I bet. You don’t think you should close until the busy season is over?”
She looks at you like you have five heads.
“And miss out on all this business? You’re crazy.”
“I just worry about you!”
“Don’t. I’m fine. I have my soup.”
You sigh and wipe your forehead with the back of your hand.
“So what is it that you need? I know you didn’t come here to lecture me about getting sick,” she says playfully, looking at you with a smirk.
“I need advice.”
“Okay.”
“I’m struggling to do all of this by myself.”
“So hire someone.”
“You came to that conclusion rather quickly.”
“It’s an easy decision.”
“I don’t even know where to start.”
“I’ll ask around for you.”
“Thanks,” you say, reaching over the pot and grabbing her hand. Even though she’s sitting by the fire her hands are as cold as ice.
She lets go of your hand, lifts the ladle she’s stirring, and asks, “Want some?”
“Sure,” you smile. A warm feeling runs through you, and not just because of how hot it is. For once you feel like you’re at peace like how things were before everything changed.
-
The next morning you’re greeted with a swift and strong knock on your door. You came home at a decent hour last night since Sulee turns in rather early. Yet when you got in bed you couldn’t fall asleep. You were up late thinking about all the changes in your life lately.
You pull yourself out of bed despite how hard it is, glancing at the clock after you rub your eyes. It’s mid-morning, not too early in the day. A perfectly reasonable time for someone to stop by.
Another knock.
You throw on a jacket so it’s not too obvious you’re in pajamas and open the door. It’s a man you’ve never seen before. He’s tall and burly, towering over you. He’s wearing a black tank top, both arms are covered in tattoos. They’re folded across his chest and they’re huge. You should be scared… but most if not all of your customers look like this.
“...Can I help you?” you ask.
“I was sent by Sulee. You got a job opening?”
“...Oh! Wow, she found someone rather fast. Please, come in,” you say, stepping aside.
He steps inside, looking around the room at your stock. You watch him as you close the door. And it seems you’ve already jumped to conclusions about him…
There’s not a thought behind those eyes.
Don’t judge him just yet.
“The name’s Kham… Sulee tells me you’re looking for an assistant,” he says, turning and facing you.
“I am. What do you know about this industry?”
“I’m familiar with it. I… was part of a gang in the lower levels of Coruscant.”
“Really? How did you end up here?”
“I needed somewhere quiet to go after I got out of prison.”
Prison… He might be just what you need.
“So what I’m hearing is you have contacts in the lower levels of Coruscant,” you say with a hopeful tone.
He sighs. “I suppose I could reconnect with them if the price is right.”
“Six hundred credits a week.”
“You got yourself a deal,” he says, extending his hand.
You spend the first half of the day showing him your inventory, explaining to him how you do supply runs on Coruscant. You have a feeling that’s all about to change given his old contacts he’ll be reconnecting with.
Hiring him already proves to be a big help because he points out a major flaw in your business– You keep all your product in the front room of your house.
“Have you thought about moving all this shit?”
“...Should I?”
“It’s in your front room… You’re practically begging to be robbed.”
“Huh… You’re right.”
“Got any other place you could put it?”
“My basement?”
“Let’s go.”
You spend the rest of the day bringing everything down to the basement. And part of you feels a little silly for not keeping things this way from the start.
As you lug boxes and copious amounts of blasters up and down the stairs you silently wonder what Kham went to prison for. But if there’s one thing you learned about working in this industry; you don’t ask questions.
Now that you’ve spent the entire day moving boxes in your pajamas, you’re ready to be alone. You’re walking Kham out, telling him he doesn’t have to stop by so early the next day. And yet you lose your train of thought when your door opens. Standing under your light outside is Mando
And as if seeing Mando triggered something for you, your mind is screaming over and over– ruusaan.
He’s not leaving without telling you what that means.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Kham!” you say, hastily bidding him goodbye so you can focus your full attention on Mando.
“Who was that?” he asks casually.
You secretly hope he’s jealous of Kham, jealous of a man who’s spending time with you. And yet he isn’t.
“My new assistant.”
“Good for you.”
“…That’s… That’s all you have to say?”
“Glad you’re getting the help you need,” he shrugs. “It was getting a little crowded in here,” he says, finally stepping inside and closing the door behind him.
You scoff and roll your eyes, stepping towards him and asking, “You buying anything tonight?”
“Maybe. I have to see what you’ve gotten since I’ve been here last,” he says, stepping away from you and walking around the room. “Where did you put it all?”
You’re frustrated. You haven’t seen him in two months and he can barely give you the time of day. He can’t pay any attention to you?
“In the basement,” you sigh, rolling your eyes again and heading into your bedroom.
“Where are you going?” he calls out.
“You know where to find me when you’re done,” you say, quickly fixing yourself up. You take off the coat you were wearing all day and glance at the note he left you at one motel. It gets you thinking… You’re going to try something bold; waiting for him naked, flopping down on the bed while he searches through your inventory.
You lie in bed and repeat to yourself the nickname over and over, like a mantra.
Ruusaan.
Ruusaan.
Ruusaan.
Staring at the ceiling you wait for him like a dog with a bird at his doorstep.
“I made a list of everything I’m taking,” he says in the hallway. He walks into your bedroom and sets the piece of paper on your dresser, turning and looking at you on the bed with a hand on his hip.
“You’re…” he starts.
“Naked? I know.”
“But…”
“That’s how this works, right? You come, you buy something, we have sex, no?”
He doesn’t respond to that. Instead, he sits on the foot of your bed with slumped shoulders.
“I’m sorry that you needed to take care of me like that… You know, at the motel.”
“Why are you apologizing?”
“For the massage.”
“I wanted to do that,” you say, moving to sit beside him.
“Why?”
“You seemed like you needed it.”
“That’s not a good reason.”
“I just wanted to help,” you shrug.
“Regardless… I’m sorry you had to see me like that.”
“It’s normal to need help from time to time, Mando,” you tell him, meeting his visor.
“Let me return the favor sometime and then we don’t have to talk about it again.”
Ouch.
“Okay,” you say, taking a deep breath.
He’s so… delicate. It’s ironic considering his line of work, considering what he’s made of, considering who he is. But he’s not delicate in a physical way. He’s delicate emotionally in a way that makes you wonder… Who hurt him? Did he let his guard down once before? And did it prove to be a big mistake?
“On your back for me,” he says gently, turning his helmet towards you.
You linger for a moment, looking into his visor before obeying his commands. You know the drill; lie on your back and close your eyes, let him do his thing.
A moistened finger teases your entrance before plunging itself inside you. A moan catches in your throat. He works your walls until you’re dripping, pushing the second finger inside. How you wish you could open your eyes. The boundaries he sets are so blurred, so arbitrary. It’s okay for you to suck his cock but seeing the skin of his hand is taboo.
Before the added level of anonymity only excited you. Now you want to break through those walls and dig deeper into who he really is.
“Stop,” you say suddenly.
“Is everything alright?” he asks, sliding his fingers from you.
“Can I open my eyes?”
“What-”
“I’m not asking to see your face…”
“I know but-”
“So I can see beneath the armor when I’m sucking your dick but when you’re fingering me.”
He doesn’t say anything so you continue.
“Why do you only drop your boundaries when it benefits you?”
You feel him shift on the bed.
“Open your eyes.”
Finally.
You open your eyes and look down between your legs, his fingers are sliding back inside you. Your gaze snaps back up to his helmet, looking directly into his visor as he makes you writhe.
“Is this what you wanted?”
“Yes…” you say with a shaky breath, voice jumping as he makes the come here motion with his fingers.
“You already gonna cum?” he asks, cocking his helmet to the side. You can only imagine how he’s looking at you.
“Mhm,” you moan, biting your lip. You cum around his thick fingers, your release soaking his hand. He pulls his fingers from your cunt, putting his hand in front of his helmet to look at this mess he made like he’s proud of it, rubbing his thumb against his index and middle fingers.
He kneels in between your thighs, cock straining against the fabric of his flight suit before pulling it out. Pre-cum leaks from the slit on the head, beading up before spilling over as he strokes himself. You spread your thighs farther apart, letting him hover over you as the tip of his cock teases your entrance. He’s so silent, the stone-cold stare of his visor stunning you into likewise silence. It all changes when he finally enters you.
This time is different. Before he had you on a table. Then he bent you over the bed. At the motel, you rode him. But this time, you’re face-to-helmet, yet again imagining what he looks like under there. What does he look like when he’s feeling immense pleasure? What does he look like when his cock is buried deep inside someone?
You catch a distorted reflection of yourself in his helmet, mouth agape and moaning in pleasure. You feel his patch of pubic hair brushing against you every time his cock is buried to the hilt. It makes you want to look, wondering how he keeps himself groomed down there. Knowing what you know about him, it’s neat, almost meticulous.
You look down but he grabs your chin and forces you to look at him again, holding your head in place as he rails you. Moans come out as pathetic whines while you’re reduced to a mess. His cock hits the perfect angle each time he draws his hips back and slams into you. Your orgasm is nearing. The tension in your core is about to snap.
“Mando, I’m gonna-” you start but you’re cut off by your own moan.
Your ears are ringing and your walls clench his cock, waves of pleasure washing over you in a euphoric symphony. And for once, you’re looking into the eyes of the person who is responsible for this feeling. At least you imagine you can see his eyes.
Hot cum spills inside you as he lets out a deep grunt, cock inside you as deep as it’ll go. It’s then that he lets go of your chin and holds your hips, keeping you in place as he finishes.
He pulls out swiftly and gets off the bed, retreating to the armchair in the corner of your room, thighs spread wide in an inviting stance. You sit up and look at him, watching as he catches his breath, modulated pants slipping out from under the helmet. Maker, you want to sit on his lap, letting him hold you until you drift off to sleep. But he couldn’t even be bothered to get in bed with you at the motel. You shouldn’t want him. You shouldn’t let yourself want him and yet you do. You can count all the times you’ve had sex on one hand and yet you want him to touch you, to cherish you, to love you.
But his talents start at touching you and stop there. Why do you want him so bad?
Like an addict you crawl back to him, finding a home in his lap. He doesn’t protest like he probably would. He does owe you a back rub. But if this were any other scenario, any other circumstance, he’d be questioning you right now.
You straddle his lap, knees by the outside of his thighs. You lean against his breastplate, head resting on his shoulder. He tugs off his glove before he drags his nails across your skin. He scratches your back soothingly, lulling you into a state of bliss. You ignore the pit in your stomach telling you that this is a one-time deal, that he never wants to talk about this again. Because once you feel cared for. You wonder if this is how you made him feel at the motel. Maybe he’s not used to being cared for or his needs being met.
You’re lost in thought, replaying every moment since the fateful day you met him until now. Tonight was a win in terms of breaking down the barriers he set between you two. A small victory but you’ll take it. He seems like he requires real work, time, and energy. And that begs the question; can you change him?
It seems like you’ve already been trying this whole time.
“Hey, don’t fall asleep.”
“Let me,” you half whine, nuzzling your face into the fabric of the chair.
He lets out one of his famous sighs but ultimately gives in.
“I did move a bunch of boxes all day,” you remind him.
He doesn’t say anything. Instead, he continues to scratch and rub your back. His gloved hand rests on the back of your neck. Before your mind goes completely fuzzy you think to ask about the nickname and remember to ask.
“Mando?”
“Yes?”
“…What does that name mean… ruusaan?”
“Don’t worry about it.”
With that, you let yourself fall asleep.
-
You wake up in your bed, alone of course. You roll over, glance at your dresser, and spot a hefty pile of credits. He must’ve paid and left. You pull yourself out of bed and glance at the list of stuff he purchased. The credits he left are more than enough. But on the bottom of the note it reads;
Until next time, ruusaan.

Hello, I'm new here, I would really like you to answer my question, I really like your thoughts. What bothered me most about this chapter 261 of jujutsu is that it doesn't make sense that Yuta came back in Gojo's body, this took away the weight of Itadori again in the story, it seems like a fanfic written by a fan. 2. this chapter took away all the weight of gojo's death.
Hi, right back at you, Anon!
I could see how this chapter bothered you. I seen some people even mentioned how "Yuji is going to be sidelined again".
I already written a post about 261 here, and I'm going to mention a few things I already said in that post.
Now, this may seem to be shocking to some people when I say this because y'all know Yuji is my favorite. But... I can see Yuta on the frontlines but just for this moment. I also have a second outlookto this. I don't think this is going to be a Sukuna VS. Yuta battle.
It feels, just a little at least, like a tag team of Yuji and Yuta VS. Sukuna part 2. It's just that this time, Todo is here in the place of Rika.
In my post, I mention how it feels like Yuta may be showing up at this particular time to save Yuji from losing that bit of humanity he has left. In a way, he is taking the weight off of Yuji. That burden of turning yourself into a curse to kill a curse.
Also, I just thought of this. The audience knows Yuji has awakened. We seen him hitting Sukuna with those back-to-back Black Flashes, whooping Sukuna's ass. Yuta hasn't.In a more realistic sense, with Yuta being out the fight for some time, during that time I can imagine he also worried about Yuji and the others like "I gotta get back in the fight, I gotta help". So pack that panic onto possessing your teacher's body.
I know to some, this indeed feels like a "Yuta is here to take Yuji's shine" moment, but again to me it's just feels like someone coming to help after taking an inhumane risk.
Gojo told Yuta to take care of Yuji and the others if something ever happened to him. And yeah, this is him doing that.
There's also the fact that neither Yuji or Yuta actually care to show out against Sukuna, they just want to kill this guy. There's not even a sense of rivalry between them.
And even if Yuji is out of the fight for a while, this is a rhetorical question for other Yuji fans, would that make you see him any less of a great character he is?
Because even during the Culling Games, he wasn't in that arc much but it didn't make me think of less of him because before, during and after he has moments that I still find great and honestly when he's not onscreen, just makes appreciate him more as a character.
I don't think screentime should determine how great a character is. Just the time they have shown should count for something. That during that time onscreen, they showcase what makes the viewer favor them.
Whatever happens next, isn't going to make me think of Yuji any less.
But enough of that!
Okay, for Gojo's death... okay, I can see why people would feel upset about Gojo's body being used like that after dying.
But I think that's the point. It should make the audience sick to their stomach because none of the characters are happy about it either. Except maybe Sukuna, he seems thrilled.
People are currently slandering Shoko for not trying to convince him against it, but uh... in the same breath Gojo expresses indifference about it even though it is his body. "Who cares what happens to one's corpse?" He takes no regard about what if he does lose and says "well, I'll admit I don't like my body being used like that".
Didn't do that.
To me, Gojo... I'm not going to say "okay"... was nonchalant about it being he states "he won't lose, he won't die" verbally to hide that even if he does he's accepting to it. He accepts he dies this time around. He finally is no longer tied down to that life of being a weapon. And maybe... this is also him kind of... punishing himself for what happened to Geto's body.
Geto died and Gojo didn't properly dispose of the body because he probably couldn't make himself do it. That lead to Kenjaku getting his body and using it as a weapon.
So, how does Gojo make up for it. Well, Yuta is the one to end Kenjaku so Gojo, still probably feeling not feeling satisfied and guilty, decides "well, if I do lose, they can use my body as a weapon".
Gojo's life is a tragedy, but his afterlife, being there with Geto and the others he lost, just may have been his mercy. He's finally in a paradise where he can feel happy, truly happy and whatever goes on in the real world, he can let go, including his body.
But that's just me.

it’s so good to have you back! i have an idea for a potential future blair fic. what if blair comes down with a nasty stomach virus compounded with a migraine while on a road trip to somewhere important with dakota? maybe she thinks it’s just a migraine and then well.. shit gets real *no pun intended* haha. it doesn’t have to be a road trip, if that doesn’t inspire anything for you, but maybe somewhere where she can’t get away that easily? no worries if you aren’t interested and if you are, take your time! 😊
Thanks for the no pressure! It helped a lot as I try to get back into this. I wasn't sure if the "pun" meant no scat lol, so there's just emeto. I hope it's okay...don't know how I feel about it. Maybe typos maybe not...but probably typos.
-------------
Blair thought her headache would fade once they left her parents’ house. Seeing her extended family for Easter was always a joy, but she could do without the noise from the little ones. At first, the squealing and giggling upon finding an Easter egg was cute. Inevitably, the happy laughs turned into fits of crying and tantrums when the celebration was over. Though the children weren’t happy to be leaving, Blair had to admit she was looking forward to a silent car ride home with Dakota.
Two hours into the four-hour drive, and her headache had morphed into a migraine. She succumbed to the pain a while ago by leaning the passenger seat back as far as it would go. Her sweater lay over her eyes to block out the daylight. She wrapped her arms together in an attempt to sooth herself, but it was Dakota’s soft voice that did most of the work.
“Is it just as bad?” he asked, brushing a hand over her knee. In times of crisis like this, Blair liked to kick off her shoes and sit cross legged. Maybe if she made herself smaller, the pain would shrink as well.
But no, the pain pushed against the walls of her body. Hey eyes threatened to explode from the pressure; her belly whined to the beat of the blood pumping in her ears. Misery loved company, so her head seemed to have invited her stomach to join the party.
“It’s getting worse,” she mumbled and shifted uncomfortably in the small space. The bumpy ride did nothing to ease her aches. Every bounce and turn jostled her like Jello. She imagined her brain jiggling against her skull in time with her roiling tummy. “Can you go slower?”
“Gosh, babe, if I drive any slower, we might make it home by Christmas.” Dakota’s eyes squinted in the sunlight. Keeping his eyes on the road hardly mattered when they were going 40 in an 80, and there were no other cars along the country road. He set the cruise control to the snail-like pace so that he could give his fiancée more of his attention. “If I hold out my arm like this, you can lean against me.”
Blair just groaned and sat up straight in the seat. The sweater fell from her face, making her wince at the harsh light. At the same time, the car rolled in and out of a pothole. Her stomach rose in her throat. “Really? You couldn’t have gone around that?” Her tone was as acidic as the liquid that burned her esophagus.
“I’m doing my best, Bee.” Dakota took his hand off her leg. “I know you don’t feel well, but don’t get mad at me just ‘cause I’m the only one here.”
That hurt. Not as much as the sword through her head, but it stung nonetheless. “I’m sorry,” she said, miserably wrapping her arms around her midriff. “I just feel sick to my stomach, and this bumpy ass road is not helping.”
Dakota opened his mouth to provide comfort, but Blair was not finished.
“And the sun is so fucking bright, and what is that horrible smell? It’s like burning rubber.” Blair pouted. “Why does everything in the universe hate me?”
Dakota gave her a lopsided smile. “Well, I’m in the universe and I don’t hate you.”
Blair scoffed and cracked a small grin. “Stop being adorable. I’m dying here.” She had to admit, his joke allowed some tension to ease off her shoulders. She wasn’t alone and everything wasn’t terrible. There were many things that were terrible, but her partner was not one of them. “…Thank you.”
“Aw, you know I just want you to feel better.” Dakota reached his hand out to rub her belly. “I’m sorry this migraine came at such a bad time. It’s making you feel sick?”
She nodded. “The nausea is bad this time. Usually I can ignore it.”
Dakota must have let the Easter bunny take the wheel while he scanned her face. “You do look very pale. Are you going to throw up, you think?”
She shook her head, then immediately regretted the decision. “I hope not. I’ll try to fall back to sleep so that doesn’t happen.”
Ironically, it was the nausea that kept her from sleeping. The pain in her head swelled with her bloated belly. All that chocolate coated her insides in a thick layer of gooey slime. When she began to burp, the taste of Terry’s chocolate orange made her gag.
Blair was alert now. With wide eyes, she clamped a hand over mouth. She forced down two more burps or else she knew Dakota’s car would be ruined in seconds. “Babe—” she began, feeling a tightness in her throat that pinched her words “—Pull over. I need to be sick.”
Without hesitation or issue, Dakota brought the car to a stop. "Wow sleep did not happen, eh?"
What a stupid time to ask a question.
Blair threw the door open with just enough time to lean over and burp wetly over the ground. She gagged, bringing up a small wave of vomit. It was mostly coffee from the afternoon. The bitter flavour clung to her tongue, but it would not stick around for long because there was much in her stomach to get up.
"I'm right here," Dakota said with a hand on her back. "You're okay." Blair leaned further out of the car with the next heave, nearly falling onto the grass. He caught her arm. "Oh, maybe you're not. Hold on, I'm coming around."
He turned off the car and jogged to the other side. Luckily there were no cars with them on the road. If Blair wanted privacy, she picked the right place to lose her lunch.
Her lunch was fertilizing the grass. Hopefully the open field would thrive on half digested chocolate, coffee, and cubes of cheese that were no longer in the shape of cubes.
She coughed and burped in between waves. "Ugh, Kota, help..." She reached out for him and allowed him to help her out of the car. They staggered like drunken lovers until their knees met the earth.
"I got you." Dakota held onto her shoulder and pulled her hair away from her face. "You're doing good."
"...my head..."
"I know." Dakota kissed her forehead. His lips met unexpectedly warm skin
"...my tummy..."
"I know." Dakota did not lean down to kiss her tummy because the organ chose that moment to convulse again. He heard a gurgling sound in Blair's throat before she pitched forward and heaved a mostly-liquid bout of sick onto the ground. Dakota rubbed her back. "Oh my Bee."
Blair fed the flowers one more time, shedding tears from the force of each retch. The vomiting released pressure from her head but did nothing to ease her belly; it only reinforced the ache that dwelled in her gut.
Dakota's lips still tingled from the heat of the kiss. He knew then that he had to get her home fast. They would need to go much faster than they had been, but at least a bed would be waiting. Blair couldn't suffer like this while on the road.
The universe agreed that Blair should not be in the car.
When Dakota went to start the car again, the engine gave a mighty good try, but failed. Dakota swore under his breath and spared a glance at Blair who still sat in front of a puddle of sick in the grass.
"No, please, no." He took the key out and tried again. "Come, on come on."
The engine tried, and tried, and...nothing. It was just as fatigued and sick as his girl. He called the doctor for only one of the patients.
Defeated, Dakota returned to Blair's side. By the looks of it, she hadn't thrown up again. He sat down next to her with a dejected sigh. "I have bad news."
"I heard."
They both sighed and sat unmoving on the grass. Blair's gaze was lost in her thoughts or maybe her pain. Dakota's gaze never left her. Her red cheeks, grey lips, and dark eyes worried him. He reached out silently with the back of his hand to touch her forehead.
Blair looked up at him with glassy eyes. "More bad news?"
"Yeah." He scooted closer to her and kissed the side of her head. "Remember when I got an infection while camping and got a really bad fever?" Her expression told him that she remembered, though not fondly. "This might be something like that, at least until the tow truck arrives."
"I knew the migraine was different this time. I just don't understand where this bug came from."
"You were around children all weekend. What do you expect?"

Blair slept in the backseat of the car while Dakota kept watch. She put her head in his lap and tried to ignore the gurgling in her tummy. Again, Dakota came to the rescue and gently rubbed the warm skin of her belly.
He wasn't sure how long he traced circles and lines over her stomach, but it was long enough for the sun to begin setting. He made a game out of spelling different words with his fingertips. In invisible ink, he wrote words like 'love' and 'Blair' and 'dildo'.
Occasional gurgles emanated from her belly. Dakota worried that Blair would bolt upright and tell him to pull over as if the day would repeat itself. But she stayed asleep. Her expression softened in her slumber.
Amazingly, she only woke up when Dakota moved to greet the tow truck driver. With the plan settled, he returned to the car.
"Honey." Dakota shook her awake. "We're going home now."
By the time Blair came to her senses, the car was ready to be hitched to the truck.
This was bad. Blair paced along the road, bitting her nails. She watched the car be lifted partially off its wheels. This was very bad. The driver spoke to Dakota and then went into the truck. Very very bad.
Sleep was good, but her belly did not like being awake. Suddenly the nausea came rushing back. The headache was gone, but the virus had nowhere near run its course.
"Babe, you ready?" Dakota called. She did not move. He came closer. "Honey, are you alright?"
With tears in her eyes, she shook her head. "I'm going to throw up in the car. I can't. I feel really sick again."
"Okay, okay, no worries." Dakota tried to calm her down. "I'll explain the situation to the driver and he'll understand."
Something wet and horrid squirmed in Blair's stomach; it was the dread of driving in a gross truck while feeling like this. But it was also the very real bug that filled her throat with nausea.
"Please don't make me do this, Kota." She covered her mouth to hide a wet burp, but she could not keep the moan from escaping. "I don't feel good."
She was losing colour by the second. Dakota felt like he was approaching a timid animal. "Okay, we can wait. It's fine."
"I don't like this. I don't wanna--urp--throw up again." She paced with her hand glued tightly to her mouth. Her legs shook and her back spasmed with the need to lurch forward. She felt the gag rising from the pit of her belly.
Dakota touched her arm. "Baby, just let yourself be sick. The man can wait. And if you need to throw up in the truck, just do it. I'll tip him well."
She shook her head.
"I'm right here. Nothing bad is going to happen." He started to gather her hair in his hand. "That's it. Lean over. I've got you." She moved her hand away and retched emptily. It was like her belly was shy as well. "Let it happen, Bee."
Maybe it was Dakota's hand on her back or the fact that she wanted this day to be over, but Blair gave in to her need. She relaxed her muscles just long enough for them to squeeze tight once more when the sick came rushing out of her mouth.
"Good job," Dakota said. "Five stars. Encore."
Blair gave an encore, not that she could help it. She would not have given it five stars.
In the end, Dakota's encouragements are what saved the day. She felt secure enough in her tummy to get in the tow truck. Dakota did indeed explain the situation just in case, but it was not needed. Nor was the bag needed. Thank God. The truck had three seats in the front. Blair hid herself behind Dakota who took the middle. It was a long drive, but a clean one.
"I'm sorry this happened, Blair," Dakota said softly when they were five minutes from their house. "How are you feeling, now?"
"Better maybe." She squeezed his arm. "Thanks for being the one thing in the universe that is right."

Sometimes I want to interact with more folks but I worry that one of my ships falls under most DNI criteria so I frequently isolate in this community.

This might be controversial to some, but you cannot "tough love" your way to preventing suicide. You cannot have the attitude that people who complete suicide are selfish or are ungrateful or immature. If your mindset about suicide isn't coming from compassion rather than judgment, it won't help suicidal people. You will never help us with a slap on the wrist and a lecture about how we're awful for even thinking about completing suicide.
Suicide intervention starts with compassion and care.
