So as a Latina, seeing Namor coming into the Marvel story has been quite an experience for my household. We are SOOO excited. With this it made me even more motivated to start a fanfic in general. There’s a story that’s been slowly growing in my mind but idk how many people would actually read it. I want to write a story placed in the time of Bucky in Wakanda. Basically a AU-esque story. Bringing in a major love story for him in the form of an Aztec history. I think it’s important to integrate SOME Latin culture in such a big fandom considering it hasn’t been done too much or the right way For the fanfic community. Maybe one day I can share it with you all!

"I loved Daisy and Brittney so much. Sambury wrote these two characters so well - they are angry, they are withdrawn, they are vengeful, and they are messy. Their character development was incredible to see on the page, and I really did love how their stories ended" ~ Sanjariti
Sanjariti, we couldn't agreed more. Delicious Monsters was a page turner from start to finish!
We have hardcover editions in stock signed by Liselle Sambury! Link: @sistahscifi | www.sistahscifi.com | https://sistahscifi.com/products/delicious-monsters. Better yet, check it out from your local #library!
Reposted @sanjariti DELICIOUS MONSTERS🌿⁣
Liselle Sambury @lisellesambury has written such a thought-provoking, raw, and terrifyingly haunting story that everyone must read.⁣
DELICIOUS MONSTERS is a well-crafted, multi-layered story that is creepy, smart, and honest. Sambury weaves together a powerful narrative that tackles important and difficult topics, like abuse, neglect, racism, sexual assault, grooming, and even how the cycle of abuse is perpetuated through generations, in a very thoughtful manner. ⁣
I am a huge fan of the body horror trope, and the way Sambury utilizes it to talk about real life horrors and tragedy is incredibly impactful, and adds so much to the story without coming off as something done for pure shock value.⁣
I loved Daisy and Brittney so much. Sambury wrote these two characters so well - they are angry, they are withdrawn, they are vengeful, and they are messy. Their character development was incredible to see on the page, and I really did love how their stories ended.⁣
All in all, I was thoroughly impressed by Sambury’s writing with this book, and it has solidified just how much talent in the writing craft they have. I cannot wait to see what Sambury comes out with next!⁣

For the last two weeks I've been participating in a series of scheduled conversations at work centered around race and policies in the workplace and how it intersects with the outside world. It isn't shocking to me that the view from those at the top is so clouded by privilege that they are blind to the fact that the marginalized people at the bottom cannot simply just separate themselves from the social injustices that are woven into every aspect of their existence. I am inspired by the voices that continue to speak up and speak truth to power. But I can't help but wonder how different these conversations would be if there was true knowledge, knowledge of self first followed by knowledge of others. The veil would be lifted and people can truly see each other. How do we learn to see others in a meaningful way? Let's start by decolonizing our shelves. What we ingest consistently becomes our frame of reference. You cannot expand your thinking, if you put your mind in a box. Reading diversely all year long: ¤ allows exploration of identity and other cultures ¤ brings visibility and validation to cultures different than our own ¤ builds community, inclusivity and unity ¤ creates opportunity to talk about current events ¤ emphasizes similarities and helps you draw connections #LatinxHeritageMonth #latinxreader #latinxbookstagram #diversereader #decolonizereading #bookdragon #readingislearning #readingislife #weneeddiversebooks #bookworm #latinxbookstagramtour #ownvoices #bibliophile #knowledgeispower #readlatinxallyearlong #latinxIG #bookishthoughts #booknerdlife (at The Shops at Atlas Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFf3v5jA5ag/?igshid=3hqqhns5w2ax

What’s one book that you want to get to before the end of the year? I have so many tbh but I am very much looking forward to reading The Tenth Girl. Now, this book is described as a Gothic, psychological thriller and while I don’t typically read those types of books, the premise just sounded so amazing that I knew I HAD to pick it up! . . . #bookstagram #TheTenthGirl #SaraFaring #bookish #books #newlyreleased #bookworm #booklover #tbrpost #booktuber #yathriller #ireadya #yahorror #readlatinx #latinxreader #latinxbooks #bookshelf #theatricalreader #latinxbookstagram @sarafaring https://www.instagram.com/p/B5IrbBIAWBa/?igshid=szg3643m0z18

Big News! I am so happy to report that I just joined @lasmusas, which is a fabulous collective of female and nonbinary Latinx #kidlit authors supporting and amplifying each other’s work. I can’t believe I get to hang out with these impressive authors and help get our voices heard. ✨ Because they’re needed. ✨ In the US, there are over 52 million people in the Latinx community, but in 2019 only 5.3% of children's books published featured Latinx main characters. ✨ Read that again. Only 5.3% of ALL the children’s books. ALL! Total. ✨ We need to change this. And it’s often one of the first things I talk about when asked how SMALL TOWN MONSTERS is different from other YA horror novels (which are surging right now). Both of my POV characters, Vera and Max, are multicultural Latinx teenagers with very diverse home lives. This matters. ✨ It’s a running joke that non-white characters are the first ones killed off in horror movies. But it’s true. And I wanted teens to see themselves as not the best friend, not the spicy side kick, and not the Latin lover, but the center of the story. ✨ I know I never read about any characters with backgrounds like mine growing up, but hopefully my kids will never say the same. ✨ . . . . . . . . . . . . . #YA #latinx #latinxartist #latinxwriters #latinxreads #latina #latinas #puertorican #puertoricanartist #YAlit #horrornovel, #publishedauthor #scaryreads #scarybooks #spookybooks #bookstagram #booknerd #storyteller #authorlife #bookaddict #IreadYA , #bookstagrammer, #horrorstories #smalltownmonstersbook https://www.instagram.com/p/CSpwimTr4qH/?utm_medium=tumblr

Thanks, Ivan! My preschool class is gonna love my latest haul 📚 @lil_libros caught my eye on the shelf at Meijer, so I went to their website and bought all these directly from the source! (did I mention they use Afterpay?) It’s been scientifically proven that teaching a second language to your young ones is good for their growing brains, so please do them a favor and get started! While Spanish is the language that I’m most comfortable with, any language is a great start. I figured I’d cover the basics with numbers and colors, but I’m definitely buying more in the future ❤️ #latinxheritagemonth #hispanicheritagemonth #latinxreads #latinxauthors https://www.instagram.com/p/CGTk71YHYP4/?igshid=1s1bwlkdnvx82

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo has been on my TBR list for a while. I've almost chosen it as an add on for my BOTM box (and still might because I want a personal copy after this is returned to the library). . Acevedo uses short snapshot-like chapters to give us glimpses into Emoni's life and motivations. Emoni has a lot going on balancing school, work, and a baby girl. Food and cooking is her escape. She has a new culinary arts class that gives her the opportunity to visit Spain but also sometimes challenges her creative freeform cooking style. I loved how Emoni thought and felt about food. It definitely gave me Like Water for Chocolate vibes it felt magical it felt like something that is specific to a character of Latinx/AfroLatina origins. 4.5/5 . I enjoyed this book so much I immediately went and picked up Poet X. I cant wait to dig into it. #BlackAuthors #WOCauthors #multiracialcharacters #YANovel #representationmatters #LatinxReader #blackgirlsread #nerdymama #nerdybooks #bookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/B92E7FBAgEg/?igshid=1p5qi2uje9hn8
