Calling Everyone Who Used to Read @swoonreads
I'm trying to find a book, I think it was called "The Edge of the Woods", but I can't remember the name of the author or any of the characters. All I remember is it was about a girl and her little brother, their father sends them to live with their grandmother in a town on an island. She begins developing a relationship with this cool boy, and there's this mystery about a family who died in a house fire. The guy loves reading classic books, and while driving her home, they hit a raccoon and take it to the vet; the guy names it Rocket. There's a scene where the girl and grandma watch One Punch Man with the little brother. There's a popular girl (I at least remember her name; it's Charlie) who used to be in an on-again/off-again relationship with the guy, and she got in a spat with the main girl at a party (which is where she first meets the guy).
Can anyone help? I wanna read that again, but I can't find it anywhere.

Did you nab any new releases today? 📖 *phew* okay, today got away from me, but here's a better late than never release day post for THE DO-OVER by Jennifer Honeybourn. I really enjoyed her book WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU DEMONS, so I'm very much looking forward to diving into this one. (And yes, I am super grateful to have received an ARC, but pregnancy & now having twins has pretty much derailed my reading this year. I'm a mommy rebel now, and I do what I want.) . . THE DO-OVER is out now! Synopsis in the comments below. . . Today is the last day of 2020 which also means it's the last day of my debut year. I decided to do a fun little photo shoot with my book up in the mountains to celebrate such a huge milestone. There have been so many ups and downs this year (way too many downs), but I can confidently say that finally having my book release, even with all the craziness, was a highlight. I'm glad to be closing the door on 2020, but will never forget how special it was to have such a huge dream come true. Here's to 2021! #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #roaring20sdebut #yafiction #yacontemporary #authorsofig #authorsofinstagram #authorsofinsta #writersofinsta #writersofig #writersofinstagram #swoonreads #ifyouonlyknew #iyok https://www.instagram.com/p/CJd6IYYgoa3/?igshid=uiug1gf4v48m

Want to read an original novel by yours truly?
Hey friends! I did a slightly scary thing!
I uploaded one of my novels to SwoonReads.
If you’re not familiar, SwoonReads is a website where aspiring (and also published) YA and New Adult authors can upload their manuscripts to get feedback and ratings from a collection of readers a la Ao3, and the most well received get a publishing contract!
Now there are obviously many many steps between uploading a manuscript onto the site and getting published, but first steps are first steps.
And the good news is, anyone can get an account for free and become a reader/rater!
So if you like YA novels and like giving constructive feedback and/or have ever wanted to read my original writing, you can find my novel here: https://swoonreads.com/m/spinning-tales-spinning-truth/ and visit the rest of the site from there.
If you’re curious about the novel particulars, it is a Sleeping Beauty retelling that focuses on the prince and combines Sleeping Beauty mythologies from all over the world because I’m a nerd like that.
Happy reading!

"And are you altogether pleased with Bath?"⁣
"Yes—I like it very well."⁣
"Now I must give one smirk, and then we may be rational again." Catherine turned away her head, not knowing whether she might venture to laugh. "I see what you think of me," said he gravely—"I shall make but a poor figure in your journal tomorrow."⁣
"My journal!"⁣
"Yes, I know exactly what you will say: Friday, went to the Lower Rooms; wore my sprigged muslin robe with blue trimmings—plain black shoes—appeared to much advantage; but was strangely harassed by a queer, half-witted man, who would make me dance with him, and distressed me by his nonsense."⁣
"Indeed I shall say no such thing."⁣
"Shall I tell you what you ought to say?"⁣
"If you please."⁣
"I danced with a very agreeable young man, introduced by Mr. King; had a great deal of conversation with him—seems a most extraordinary genius—hope I may know more of him. That, madam, is what I wish you to say."⁣
⁣💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Oh, Henry Tilney. SWOON. You are so charming and funny and you like to dance and read and take walks. You are simply the best. ⁣I give you all the candy hearts.

Their search for the elusive Mrs. Smith and the rightful ending to her novel leads Lucinda and David around the country, but the truths they discover about themselves—and each other—are anything but fictional.
Trigger Warnings: fire, scars, burns, misogyny, grief,
Review:
The Last Word is a wonderful historical romance that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The romance between Lucinda and David kept me entertained and I loved their friendship. Samantha Hastings's writing was engaging and full of interesting characters.
Lucinda Leavitt and David Randall are the two main characters of The Last Word. Lucinda was a great female lead to follow. She is kind, intelligent, funny, and loves maths. I loved seeing her make friends and stand up for herself. David was the perfect match for Lucinda. He is smart, compassionate, and struggling to find himself. I loved that David always views Lucinda as an equal, and the banter between them. The Last Word does a great job discussing the challenges women faced during the Victorian Era.
Overall, if you love reading historical romance, I recommend picking up a copy of The Last Word.
Thank you to Pan Macmillan Australia for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

So Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas is incredibly beautiful.
I don’t know how else to speak about it except for saying reading it incredibly humbled me. You see, the main character is trans. And, the journey itself into being accepted into the Latinx community, where traditions are heavily installed, is awe-inspiring and just wow.
I’ll admit I had been recommended this book, however I had assumed it had been recommended because of the story. Raising the dead, brujo, Dia de los Muertos, etc. But, instead I got something better - a coming-of-age coined with acceptance and self-identity that was tied up in a flair.
Honestly, all the hype about this book is right. Yadriel (the main character) explained situations which I quickly came to realize paralleled the author’s and because I never experienced something, I was incredibly moved at the strength and the drive it took to navigate his everyday life. Even for a YA I thought the struggles Yadriel faced in his community by showing his true self was enough for teenagers to understand and empathize. And hopefully garner a full understanding if they were raised in a considerably “binding” household.
But, Yadriel and his struggles are not the only thing the book brings beauty to. In fact, the descriptions of the Latinx community in par to how they cook, what they wear and where in history it stems from is gorgeous. God, the food itself was literally saliva-inducing. The values of family in the Latinx community are fully iterated and it shows, by way of story progression as well. It’s such a beautiful part of the book and it needs to be spoken about with current political happenings. I adored it all. I really did. I wasnt too sure if I would understand it, at first, because I identify with my cis gender, but I was happily surprised to learn about some of these struggles, especially looking at it from my Social Work pov background.
So, yes, to sound it off, Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas absolutely deserves it spot on the Young Adult Must-Reads shelf. You guys MUST check it out.

My debut baby came out almost eight months ago! I've been reflecting a lot on my publishing journey lately. None of it has been predicable. I wrote the first draft of If You Only Knew back in 2014. It took six more years for it to be published. I had all but given up on it when my publisher, Swoon Reads, contacted me. It was the last thing I expected, and it was so exciting. I'm grateful that this book is out there now. I worked hard on it. It may take people only a matter of days to finish it, but it took YEARS to write it, from the first draft to the final pass. It's so easy to feel like a failure in the publishing industry, especially when you're in the waiting stage (and there are MANY waiting stages), but I accomplished something so many still dream about, and that's not failure. #books #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #roaring20sdebut #ifyouonlyknew #iyok #swoonreads #iwriteya #writersofinstagram #writersofinsta #writersofig #authorsofinstagram #authorsofinsta #authorsofig https://www.instagram.com/p/CGNfh-0APZV/?igshid=12ireqer42msu
