After seven therapists, four psychiatrists, several antidepressants/other medications, multiple therapy methods, alternative medicines, changes in lifestyle, etc …. It’s become clear that I need special aid in order to have a better quality of life.

At the moment, my mom accompanies me everywhere. When she leaves home, I’m already stretched thin. And although her presence keeps me calm, she’s not very skilled at preventing attacks from happening, or de-escalating them if they do. The constant accompanying is a strain for her, as well.

My hope is that a service dog will provide me with a reliable grounding presence. It can be trained to provide tactiles like body pressure, mouthing, licks. It can smell my triggers, lead me to safe spaces, block a personal space bubble, find help if I need it, and bring me the daily calmness that everyone else enjoys. American law would allow me to bring my service dog to all public spaces, businesses, and during emergencies.

With a service dog, perhaps I can again walk five blocks to the cafe, and use public transport, attend parties and events, manage a full-time job, fly overseas to visit my family, and so much more. I want to get my life going again.

I’m asking for $5,500. A bred puppy (service dogs are trained from a young age, and good breeding is highly recommended) costs around $2,000, the estimated annual cost for a dog is $2,000, and the Owner Trainer Academy is $1,575.

With your help, I could fulfill my dreams within just a couple years! Any and all aid is greatly appreciated!

I was thinking recently that as a non-partnering asexual in my 30s, at this stage in life when it comes to my allo friends, I often relate more to my married friends than my single friends.

I think it has to do with us all feeling more settled in who we are and where we're going on life. Whereas a lot of my single friends are still looking for relationships and still have that factor of uncertainty. Plus, when I'm meeting new people, I'm always relieved when someone already has a partner because it takes away the awkward 'oh no, are they going to see me as a potential partner?'

Which is to say, while I am single, it's an entirely different experience from being single and looking for a romantic/sexual partner. It would be nice if there were a better way to distinguish "I am single, and this is a chosen state I'm comfortable with." and "I'm single, and this is a temporary state while I search for a partner."

I'd love to be seen in asexual representation and like it. Unfortunately for me, if it's canon it comes with acephobia, and that makes me wanna throw up and die. Realistic, but anyways. Seen too much. Every time they talk about how hard Cash's asexuality is on Darren I wanna swallow a knife.

As an asexual who figured herself out pretty late (mid 20s) I tried to have a talk with my family about not having ever been in a relationship and not feeling the need to be in one. Unless some criteria are met first - as in me being comfortable to be honest and open - and even then I'm not sure how romance positive I am.

How do others react to hearing this "but how do you know? You just haven't met the right person yet. You don't even know what you're missing "? This is my experience and my body and mind and I feel like I can't get them to listen since they think they know it better. It feels like I'm missing the right words to make them understand. Anyone have experience or advice on this ?

you ever wonder if your gender expression is best described as an alien cyborg type being because you grew up watching so much star trek and because any human descriptor is simply too binary or too "gendered" and something that doesn't actually exist but summons a very specific mental image is the only way to capture how you see yourself

or of it's because you're the entire aspec and neurodiverse and thus the complete opposites of everything society deems as "humanity" and lacking the desire or capacity to partake in what is considered "the human experiences" so you have to be some kind of alien robot because you are so utterly inhuman according to society

Can someone give me aroace (or just aro or just ace) book recommendations please? Because I have only read loveless and while I absolutely love that book (pun intended),especially because it made me realise I was aroace, I want to read more.
