Sam was good in a crowd, a gathering, a party. He knew how to charm, to blend in, to smile as if he meant it.
He felt confident in the suit he chose for the mission - an elegant midnight blue suit with a brilliant coral-pink Gallery Art Deco dahlia print that popped exquisitely on Sam. A button-down that matched the colors of the dahlias. He was lavished with rings, a few earrings, and a necklace.
Sam felt the part of an heir to an obscene fortune rubbing elbows with the weird tech bros and flippant trust fund children saturating the event space. Watched how delicate yet swiftly Bucky poured the ice, Dubonnet Rouge, maraschino liqueur, sweet vermouth, and gin into the chilled mixing glass before stirring, straining the contents into a cocktail glass, then meticulously placing an apple slice on the rim.
Sam found himself watching the hand slide the glass smoothly towards him. Sam blinked at the opaque deep red drink.
"What is it?" asked Sam over the loud sounds of the party going on behind him.
Bucky leaned over the bar and Sam's mind stopped working when he felt the scrape of Bucky's scruff on his cheek. Felt Bucky's lips on his skin as Bucky whispered sultry in his ear, "A kiss."
Sam couldn't have heard that right. That wasn't it. But Bucky was still close to him. Sam could feel Bucky's breath on his skin. He could still feel the bristles of Bucky's five o'clock shadow.
Sam jumped as he heard Joaquín yell through the comms, "I got him! I have him in custody, Sam!"

Sam found himself caring very little about what the team thought or what they knew. Sam decided to take the plunge. Make the move.

Bucky just made noises before he pulled Sam in for a heartfelt, sweet, awkward kiss. And then Sam couldn't think of anything else. Just his hands in Bucky's hair as Bucky pulled him into a deeper kiss.

“This is stupid,” Natasha mumbles the words she’s been thinking of for the few hours she’s been awake, hoping they get unnoticed with her partner’s weekends’ music playlist playing in the background. She only managed to take a shower before her hands started hurting when she tried to make breakfast, and Joaquín didn’t hesitate to take her to bed right after.
He stops the massage to look at her for a quick second and then resumes his work. “Your body is not stupid,” he simply says, then pushes strong thumbs over her palm, making Natasha sigh. She’s been holding it for a few days and ignoring the occasional pain when it struck her, keeping her mind occupied on things other than the fact that her hands hurt without her having done a great effort with them. Gosh, she hasn’t fist-fought in a couple of months.

It kills Joaquín to see you so upset. He understands it--he's no stranger to family problems himself--but it still hurts. Because at his heart, he's a fixer, and all he wants to do is make it better. He wants to ease the worry lines from your brow, the tension from your shoulders, the concern in your eyes every time you check your phone. But he knows there's nothing he can do to make the issue go away.
So instead, he's there for you.
He wraps his arms around your waist, hugging you from behind as you type out responses on your phone. He presses small kisses to the side of your head every time he notices your forehead's creased. He gives you back massages in order to help you relax. But most importantly, he's there, reminding you that he loves you and that the you will get through this together.
A personalized Joaquín drabble? I cried a little, to be honest with you. This whole situation with my grandmother is just super stressful, so the fact that you took the time to write something for me with our favorite boy means the absolute world to me.

Premise - A movie night turned into something you won't forget.

Spoiler warning for the movie 'Call Me By Your Name'
You won’t say it was a talent, but you predicted what would happen next while watching a movie. It started as a fun pastime with your father when you were young. And right now, snuggling next to Joaquin on the sofa you were having a movie night, watching ‘Call Me By You Name’
During the climax, you wait as Elio spends Hanukkah with his parents alone, and the phone rings. You hold your breath, perking up slightly as he looks at it.
Your brain goes into overdrive, and you hold your breath as it concludes that it’s Oliver on the other side and that they are breaking up.
Joaquin’s hand slid over your waist, and he held you close as you sat up against his chest.
And your vision blurs as you watch him calling out to Oliver by his name.
“Elio, Elio, Elio, Elio, Elio, Elio.”
There is a pause, and on the other side, he sighs.
“Oliver.”
He says it once, and you sniffle, dreading what’s coming next. The minute he confesses that he’s engaged to a woman and is about to marry, you break down.
You weep throughout the scene until Elio sits down at the fireplace and his mother calls out to him, softly.
But as the credits roll while Timothée Chalamet stares into the camera with tears, you hear a sniffle from behind you.
You freeze and slowly look behind you and straight at Joaquin, whose big brown eyes are overflowing with tears and he grimaced at the laptop placed in front of you.
“babe?” you sniffle, calling him.
“Yeah?” he sniffles, exhaling loudly.
Your voice breaks as you ask him, “Are you crying?”
He locks his eyes on your face and he stares at you innately with a tear rolling down his face.
“No.” He deadpans.
Watching him cry breaks your heart. "It's just a movie. Joaco, why are you crying..." You hiccup, wiping your tears away.
“Because you are crying!” He sobs. “Please don’t cry.” His face contracts, and he wipes his tears silently.
Your big hug engulfs him as soon as you hear that. His racing heartbeat calms down as you hold him tightly, feeling a warm sensation growing inside your chest.
When you wake up, you realize that the two of you fell asleep on the sofa, and it's early morning at the moment. Half-sleeping, you detangle yourself from Joaquin’s arms and look at him as he sleeps soundly. He looked at peace, a faint smile lingering on his lips. You gently kiss his forehead and tuck a stray strand of his long curls behind his ears.
You tuck yourself under the blanket beside him and drift off to sleep, the sound of his steady breathing lulling you to sleep.

Sam watched Bucky stumble off the skyscraper in horror. Sam couldn't think. He couldn't breathe.
He thought about Rhodey falling out of the sky. How he flew down but he couldn't do it. Sam couldn't reach Rhodey before he hit the ground in a crater.
Sam thought about Riley.
Riley.
Who had been joking with Sam moments before. Who had kept asking Sam out over and over again. Sam would always smile and tell him, "Next time."
There was never a next time.
There were screams. Blood-curdling screams over Sam's comms as Riley burned alive in the sky. Fell to his death like an angel forsaken. Sam could do nothing. It was as if Sam was up there just to watch.
Not again.
Sam wasn't letting a loved one fall again.
Sam didn't remember how he cleared his path. One minute, there were a dozen Hydra cronies surrounding him, and the next he was bulldozing his way towards the edge of the building.
Sam could hear voices over the comms. The voices became static as Sam's brain zeroed in on Bucky's terrified screams.
Sam didn't know how he got there. How he flew as fast as he did. All he knew was that once he was in swinging distance of Bucky, he searched for any purchase he could get and found a firm grip on the sides of Bucky's tactical jacket. Sam slowed their descent to the ground as he landed them on their feet.
All he could see was the awe in Bucky's eyes as if he never expected anyone to save him. All he could hear was Bucky whispering, "You caught me."
"Yeah," Sam said in a daze, "I did."
Sam remembered that this had to be cathartic for Bucky too. Bucky kept falling off of high places with no one catching him.
"Our traumas complement each other," Sam blurted, his face heating up.
Bucky choked out a laugh.
"I don't think we're supposed to say that out loud," said Bucky in a tone that definitely agreed with Sam's statement.
Distantly, Sam knew he was rubbing Bucky's sides as if to make sure that all of this was real. Bucky placed his hands over Sam's, gently moving them to frame his face. Even in gloves, Sam could feel Bucky's scratchy scruff.
"I'm here," said Bucky brokenly as he moved his hands away from Sam's and wiped tears from Sam's eyes, "You saved me. We're okay."
When had Sam started crying?
"I did. I saved you," gasped Sam, feeling more tears coming as he felt Bucky pull him into a tight hug.
Sam had done it. He saved someone he loved from a fall. Sam fell apart in Bucky's arms, sobbing into Bucky's shoulder. Sam was relieved. He was overwhelmed. He had saved someone he loved from a fall.
He could hear Yelena and Joaquín panicking over the comms, asking if they were both okay.
Sam stepped away from Bucky and collected himself.
"We're okay," said Sam, his relief stark, "We'll be up there in a moment."
"Hey, Sam?" asked Bucky as Sam wrapped his arms around Bucky.
"Yes?" said Sam as he prepared his wings for flight.
"Would you like to go out on a date with me after this mission?" asked Bucky.
Sam kissed Bucky senseless.
"Of course I would," said Sam to a dazed Bucky, trying his best not to focus on Bucky's kiss swollen lips as he flew them back towards the fight.
