18+ MINORS AND THOSE WITHOUT AGE IN BIO DNI
requested by @icehooligan
request:
Hello there!
It's been a while since my last request, which I still reread from time to time to be honest, with a warm heart! But I'd like to make a new one right now. It's also a bit of a specific thing. I think Steff would be a suitable character, just like last time. I was thinking of something where the Reader just finally got out of an emotionally draining, unstable relationship, and Steff, as a best friend who assisted through it all, steps up into a potential new partner while providing comfort. This would mean a lot to me. Thank you forward!

warnings: mention of bad relationship, swearing
tapping my foot, I waited for steff to open the door. I looked at my watch and pressed the buzzer again.
“steff I know you’re in there. It’s me. Please let me in.” I said through the intercom. Eventually the door buzzed and I pushed into the house. I looked up the staircase and saw steff standing at the top of the stairs “hey. We need to talk.” Steff nodded and waved me up to him.
“What’s up?” He asked as I hugged him tightly instead. “What’s wrong?”
“it’s over.” I whispered. “It’s finally over. Officially. Forever.” Steff tangled his hand in my hair and leaned his head against mine.
“damn.” Steff breathed out. “Are we upset about this or…” I buried my face in steffs neck and he nodded. “Right. Little bit of both. Got it.” Prying me away from him, steff ushered me into his bedroom. “Folks will be home soon. Might as well stay out of the office.” I nodded and sat down on the bed.
“you know part of me can’t believe it’s over. Like after everything I went through, it doesn’t feel normal to come out the other side.” Steff adjusted the television set and looked at me over his shoulder.
“it probably won’t for a while.” He offered. I nodded, eyes focusing on the cartoons that started playing. I rolled my eyes.
“I thought you only watched this shit when you were high or drunk.” I teased. Steff flipped me off before climbing on the bed next to me. “To answer your question…I think I’m happy it’s over.” I said after a while of sitting shoulder to shoulder with him. “No more wondering how it’s going to go. If it’s a bad day or a good day. Trying to people please and make sure that I’m keeping the mood calm. The break ups the get back together. All that crap.” Steff looked over at me.
“you know I always supported you. No matter what.” He said. I nodded. “But can I finally be honest?” I nodded again. “You could do a hell of a lot better. And you deserve better too. Someone who won’t put you through that day in and day out. Someone stable. Or as stable as can be.”
“and where am I supposed to find someone like that?” I asked, tilting my head back against his headboard. Steff shuffled next to me and his face came into view.
“right here?” He offered. I stared at him for a second before laughing.
“really?” I asked, smiling up at him. Steff nodded slowly, disappointment clear on his face. He started to sit back when I grabbed his arm. “How long steff?” He shrugged.
“a few years now.” Steff muttered. “But hey that doesn’t matter. Clearly you don’t feel the same.” I tugged his arm and made him turn back towards me.
“I never said that.” I cocked my head at him. “I just never thought you would have a crush on me.” Steff breathed out a sigh. “You’ve always been there for me steff. And I appreciate that. Somewhere in all that happened, I think you became more than a friend. Without me knowing.” Steff smiled at me.
“So you’re saying there’s a chance?” He asked, tone turned playful again. I laughed again and leans against his shoulder.
“yeah. Eventually.” Steff leaned his head against mine and sighed happily. “I just need some time to mourn the good times I had. When I’m ready, I’ll let you know.” Steff leaned down and pressed his lips to mine in a chaste kiss.
“take all the time you need. I’ll be here for you. No matter what.” Steff promised when he pulled away. He cupped my cheeks and rubbed his thumb across my cheekbone. “Even if you decide I’m not what you need. You’re stuck with me.” I laughed and pulled steff into another kiss.
“good. Because you’re stuck with me.” I assured him. “Thank you steff. You’re the best friend anyone could ever ask for. And I’m sure you’re an even better boyfriend.” Steff blushed before pulling me into his chest while the door opened below us.
“only one way to find out babe.” He teased as we settled in to watch tv.

Irish Coffee (ft. Donald Ressler)
Donald Ressler x Reader (she/her pronouns)
Warnings: Alcohol, drunk misogynists, protective!Ressler, no mention of Elizabeth Keen, mention of slight age gap (no specific ages or distance in ages mentioned)
Summary: You and the team go out for drinks at a local whiskey bar, and the whole night Ressler is your knight in - a shining black suit?
A/N: I am aware how late I am writing fanfic for The Blacklist, but you know what? I won’t apologize and I will go down with this ship.
The bar was nestled in between two larger restaurants, and had a cozy, old-fashioned feel to it.  You had walked by it one day and mentioned it to the squad, asking if anyone had heard of it or had any recommendations they preferred nearby.  Weirdly enough - out of all of them - (or perhaps not so weirdly), Aram actually knew the place you were talking about.
"Oh, they're supposed to be a good, classic whiskey bar.  Not really my thing, but it's not all they serve so I've been there a couple times." He had said at the time, nervously glancing at Agent Navabi as he did so.
And, as much as you had not expected it - heck, you hadn't even thought about going out to a bar in weeks - Director Cooper was suggesting that you all check the place out on a Friday night, after a particularly difficult case.  You would have begged off, claiming fatigue and the need of a bath, but you knew you couldn't refuse going to the bar you'd brought up weeks ago.  So, instead, you smiled and said yes.  Although you hadn't been prepared for this, you always kept a nice outfit and pair of shoes in your locker in case you had to show up to a trial or go undercover looking less like an agent.
As you ran back from throwing the new outfit on, you worried thinking that you had been deserted by the group - perhaps for taking too long? you though to yourself.  But just as you were about to pick up your phone to call someone, Ressler stepped out of your shared office.
"Ready?" He asked. "Yeah, I thought you guys had already left without me!" You joked to him, lightly nudging his side with your elbow.   "Naw, I told them that they could go ahead to grab us a good spot and we'd meet them there." He said as you both walked towards the elevator.   Once inside, you did your mind started to rush.  Not that you didn't spend time alone with Ressler, but you still felt pretty nervous around him.  He was a fair bit older than you, a well-renowned agent, and seemed to have some trust issues regarding your ability to handle yourself and have his back - something you understood given his history, but were still (understandably) slightly hurt by.
Despite the slow movement of the elevator, you were soon at the parking garage.  Shivering - your outfit didn't exactly provide excess warmth - you followed Ressler to the car, and jumped in the passenger side as he got into the driver's seat.  He didn't always drive - you two sometimes took turns - but he preferred to given his past traumas in cars.  Most of the time you didn't mind, because it gave you time to think or fiddle with the music.  But right now, you just felt uncomfortable and at least driving would have given you something to focus on.  You'd driven with Ressler plenty of times, and sure, you sometimes got anxious around him, but you usually chalked it up to his somewhat insane speeds or excess caffeine (both of which were constant issues).  Trying to soothe your anxiety (and the discomforting vibes), you scrolled through the playlist you wanted to listen to and pressed shuffle.
"Are you cold?" You started at the sound of Ressler's voice rousing you from your music-driven reverie. Although the car was quite temperate, your heart was still beating fast and you had to press your hands and legs against each other in order to stop the shaking you were feeling.
"Yeah, a bit." You managed out - quite calmly and confidently, you were glad to hear.
You were, but that wasn't why you were shaking.  He glanced to the side to look at you, and then, looking down, reached his hand down to the heating nobs, turning them on to medium.
"Shoulda said something.  Put your seat-heater on." You were surprised - and a bit touched - that he actually gave a shit how you felt.  Obediently, you did as he said.  Relaxing a bit more, you decided to doll yourself up a bit on the way and put on some makeup in the mirror, finishing with just a touch of lipstick, which you tapped with your fingers to perfectly blend into your lips.  The music had helped with calming you as well, and with only a few comments about your song choices from Ressler ("Do you younger generations actually enjoy this, or are you all in on some sick joke?" and "At least this isn't terrible, I guess"), you got to the bar pretty quickly.  Ressler parked and you walked in together.  It was a bit packed, and mostly guys, but the atmosphere was warm and cozy, a few lights and decorations already up for the holidays.  Ressler pushed his way through the crowd expertly, an arm reaching and hovering over your back as you trailed a bit behind.
You’d made it to the group, and Aram stood up to offer you his chair.  Although you were quite fine standing, and even told him so, he gently pushed you into the seat.  Using the opportunity of the interruption, he spoke.
"Alright, it's my round, what am I getting everyone?" "Another bourbon for me." came from Navabi. "I'm done with the beer for tonight," said Director Cooper. "I'll have a maker's, neat." You asked for the same, and a glass of water as well, to balance out the alcohol. "Irish coffee, but makes sure its whiskey, not Bailey's, will ya."  Said Ressler.   --- You had all finished that round, done some talking, and after a while Cooper left.  You, Aram, Navabi, and Ressler decided that you'd have one last round, and then pay your tabs.  This time it was your turn, and you hopped up, asking them all what they wanted.  Navabi and Aram had switched (together, you might add) to Old Fashioned's.
"Can I get coffee, regular this time, please," Ressler asked you, adding, "someone has to drive all of you home." You smiled and nodded, jumping up from the chair and going over to the bar with a bit of an altered walk.  There was a small space between two taken stools which you leaned into.  You politely asked the bartender for your coworkers drinks, and an Irish coffee for yourself - something to warm you up before heading home.  After ordering, you signed and got your card back, and as you did so, the man at the stool next to you spoke up.
"Leaving already? That's a shame. Although if you'd like to stay longer, I'd be happy to take care of you." He grinned as his eyes wandered lower than your eyeline.   "Uhm- excuse me?" You asked him. "Com' on, I know a sweet thing like you could use a bit of protection in a place like this…" He smirked as he said the line, his voice overly sweet. "And she has it." A voice behind you spoke up. Turning around, you saw Ressler right behind you.  He placed a hand on your side, drawing you towards him, and used a tight-lipped smile towards the man.  It didn't take a genius to determine that Ressler physically outmatched the creep.
"Sorry dude, I didn't know." He said by way of miserable excuse. "And you shouldn't have to in order to respect women!" Ressler exclaimed firmly - though calmly. The man walked away, and you turned to face Ressler.
"Thank you for that," you said, looking to his eyes, "I could've handled it.." "But you shouldn't have to." He interrupted. The bartender finished with the drink order, and Ressler helped you grab them.  You walked back to the table, where Aram and Navabi downed their drinks in minutes, only for them to suggest grabbing a taxi together - seeing as they "lived on the same side of the city".
---
After they left, you and Ressler had a bit of a laugh and a gossip about the two of them while you finished your drinks.  You noted again how considerate he was, when he held your jacket out for you to pull on, and grabbed the door to walk out.  You watched as your breath froze in the fresh, cold air.
"Alright, let's go. I'll drive you home."  He started guiding you towards the car. "Are you sure?  I don't exactly live close to you." You said (leaning on him only a little, you might add). "Yes, of course.  I'm not leaving you alone to get a taxi or metro, especially with guys like that still around."  He told you firmly.   You didn't protest, and he helped you into your seat.  You put your seatbelt on, and put on some good nighttime lofi to keep you guys awake.  On the way, you pondered the your feelings for the man next to you, more perplexed than you had ever been on a case.  Ressler had to wake you from your reverie to let you know that you'd arrived at your apartment.  He walked you to the top of the steps, claiming that it was "safer this way".
"Thanks… I- uh- have a good night!" You said as cheerfully and soberly as you could manage. "Of course," He turned away before turning back and paused for a moment. "Um, (Y/N)? Would you want to go out this weekend? Say, I pick you up tomorrow? At 5? We could go for a walk and grab some dinner…" He looked to you nervously before staring back down at the concrete. "Yes!" You smiled. "I'd love that." He met your eyes again, smiling. "Cool. Dress warm!"  He quickly kissed your forehead, and waited for you to enter the building before heading back to the car, practically chuckling under his breath.

Imagine being Aram’s friend and developing a crush on Reddington.
It wasn’t surprising that you had developed a little crush on the man. You met him when he paid an unexpected visit to Aram while you both were in the middle of your Harry Potter marathon.
“Agent Mojtabai, I had no idea you’ve had a date! But this is a very urgent matter, I wouldn’t bother you otherwise...” He gave you both an apologetic smile and you could’ve sworn your heart missed a beat at the deep rumble of his voice.
“Oh, no that’s not... We’re just friends.'' You were quick to correct him. Maybe too quick, because he let out a chuckle and tilted his head, interested.
“Ah, I see. John Finch, Aram’s colleague… of sorts. Pleasure to meet you.” His tenacious blue eyes bore into yours and you realised right at that instance, that you were a goner. He initiated your second meeting, and every date after that. You quickly learned his real name and what he did for a living. But it didn’t bother you as much as it probably should. He was an absolute gentleman, always kind, and genuinely interesting person to be around. So what if he was a criminal, and the most wanted one at that? He was good to you and he made you laugh like no one else. Yes, it was not surprising at all.

Request:
Hi there! I think this might be a little weird request, but I hope it will turn out to be something useful or worth to write! I don't have a specific character in mind, but definitely James Spader, if you feel like it could suit one of his characters you also write for, totally feel free to go with it. I was thinking about a rather comforting story where y/n is going through a hard burnout and feels kind of hopeless and unmotivated. Thank you forward for your answer!
18+ MINORS AND THOSE WITHOUT AGE IN BIO DNI
YOU WILL BE BLOCKED
AN: hope you are feeling a bit better and this story helps! My inbox is always open for Spader. Hope this is good as I’m dealing with my own burnout with writing at the moment.
warnings: burnout, lack of motivation, Steff smoking weed and trying to get reader to as well
I let out a groan as I fell onto the couch in the living room. I could hear soft footsteps padding into the room from the office. There was a soft ‘hmm’ from above me.
“Rough day?” I groaned and Steff chuckled. “Alright. Worse than that. What’s wrong?” I felt my legs get picked up and then put into his lap as Steff sat down.
“I feel burned out. Like no matter what I do, what decision I make, no ideas come to me.” I groaned out into the couch cushions. “There’s a deadline for a new project. It’s next week. Everyone has to bring something to the table. But I have nothing to contribute.” I rolled over finally and looked at Steff. He was slowly drawing circles on my thigh.
“You won’t like my suggestion.” I narrowed my eyes at him. “Either one of them.” I draped an arm over my eyes and waved a hand to let him know he could continue. “First, and this is the adult one, use something that you had before that never went through. It’s not giving up and it will allow you something to present.” I peeked at him from over my arm.
“second?” I asked, eye brow raised.
“Oh you know the second.” He smirked at me before laying over me to press a kiss to my lips. I shoved him off me.
“Steff! Get off!” He laughed as he sat up and pulled me with him.
“That’s another option.” I shoved his shoulder again before leaning forward and pressing my face into his neck.
“No Steff.” His hand made its way to my shoulder and gently worked at the tense muscles. “Now be serious. What’s your other suggestion?” Steff pressed a kiss to my temple and stood up, maneuvering me so he could carry me bridal style into his office. He set me down in his chair before walking over to the small box sitting on the book shelf.
“We could always get lit.” He turned around with a white piece of paper and a small baggie in his hand. I shook my head.
“Steff, we’ve talked about this. I can’t. If they ask me to take a drug test and I fail, they can fire me. No questions asked.” Steff pouted.
“hey I’m trying to help you here.” He pointed out, setting the material on the desk and starting to roll his own joint. “If you don’t want to fine. But I’m going to. And then, maybe just maybe I’ll have a better suggestion for you.” Steff raised an eyebrow, waiting for me to make a decision.
“I can’t. Go ahead though. I’m going to take a nap.” I rubbed my eyes as I got up and made my way to our bedroom. I could hear Steff let out a sigh of relief as he took his first drag. It wasn’t long before I dropped of. I was woken up a few hours later by the bed dipping. A gentle kiss was pressed to my cheek as I got wrapped up in Steff’s arms.
“You awake?” I shifted in his arms so we were face to face. “Ah. You are.” A kiss was pressed to my nose. “I’m sorry for earlier. I know we have that conversation every time. It’s the only way I know to deal with it. I’m working on it.” I nodded as I ran a hand through Steff’s hair. His eyes closed as I gently tugged through some knots that had formed at the ends. “Tell me what I can do to help. I’ll do it. Just tell me what it is you need.”
“I don’t know.” I sighed out as I tucked my head under his chin. “That’s part of the problem. If I know what was causing this, I’d try to stop it already.” I felt Steff kiss the top of my head.
“It’s alright. You’ll figure something out. And if you don’t, I’ll come up with something. We’re in this together right?” I nodded as I tightened my grip on him.

Note
I know your fics are closed but here’s my idea anyway: shy! virgin!reader x dom! President Loki. He’s controlling but cares most about her pleasure and comfort and her needs before his own. Kind of like James Spader’s character in the movie Secretary. (Idk if you’ve ever seen it or not). He’s unexpectedly gentle and kind, though stern about what he wants and makes sure there is a lot of tender aftercare. Add in some bondage or whatever kink you see fit.
I like this idea! I’ll write it down and see if one day I can make something like this, but again, no guarantees!! Thanks for sending this in!!

the secretary
the secretary
word count: 1.4K
summary: paul is in need of a new secretary
Another secretary who had to be let go, Paul ran his fingers through his hair as he let out a frustrated sigh. Why was he like this? He got so sick of the games he played, but then he would go right back to it, just with someone new.
Paul went outside to light up the sign that said “SECRETARY WANTED” he just couldn’t help himself. He was aware that what he was doing was absolutely disgusting.
The last girl cried when he let her go, she thought she did something wrong, she was perfect really. A nice red head, with a nice body, she went along with his games real nicely. Paul would just get so disgusted with himself, and he was so ashamed, the last time he had sex he was on the edge of tears because he was so repulsed. Why was he like this? Why couldn’t he just get off to regular sex, why did he like his position of power as a sign of dominance? Why did he like to use forms of punishments for small mistakes that didn’t really matter? He just liked the power, it made him feel good.
And the last girl Jane, when she would bend her ass over the desk just so Paul could spank her, he swear he could have just lost himself at the sight. Words like sir, and mister dripping of her tongue as he would slid into her. He loved it, he loved being in control. But it was just so disgusting, but that didn’t stop him from lighting up the sign. He went to his office to exhaustedly sit down. He was a sick man.
Switch of POV’s
“It says here you were top of your class for fastest typing.” Paul said in a low voice, as I crossed my legs in intimidation, I just nodded my head in response. I straightened my back, and tried to make eye contact with Mr. McCartney but he still had his eyes on your resume. “Why do you want to be a secretary?” Paul asked, finally looking up at me.
“Oh uh, well, I’ve been needing a job and the requirements seemed to fit my resume pretty well, so I thought it was the perfect fit.” I stumbled over my words, but I still try to carry myself in a professional manner. Mr. McCartney eyed me suspiciously.
“You seem a bit over qualified, don’t you think?” Before I could stumble out a reply, he spoke once again. “I don’t think this is a perfect fit for you.” He spoke with dark eyes, that gave me chills.
“Sir, it would really be my honor to work for you. Please think about it-“
“You have the job.” He said in the same low voice, leaning against his desk, and I smiled enthusiastically. I’ve been trouble getting a job, so to get a job on the spot was exciting.
“Thank you so much Mr. McCartney, I promise you, you won’t regret it!” I jumped up, I felt like I could hug him but I keep my composure. I just couldn’t help to tell my mom I finally got a job. Maybe I’ll finally be able to move out. Paul didn’t say anything, just handed me a schedule and I let myself out.
“Y/n please get in here.” I heard Mr. McCartneys voice over the phone, and I straightened my skirt exiting my small office to go to his. The door was cracked a bit so I just let myself in. I saw him look up from the paper he reading, his eyes seeming to be darker than usual.
“You called?” I spoke in a small voice, feeling heavily intimidated. I’ve been working for Mr. McCartney now for a few weeks, and everything has been going smoothly. However, he would give me looks that made me feel intimidated, and I was never sure how to react.
“You’ve been working for me for a few weeks, and you are still making spelling errors. I’ve been letting it slid, however, this is ridiculous. I hired you, in the thoughts you were a fast typer, not a shitty one. You told me you where top of your class.” I gulp as how dark his voice seemed to be, he spoke slowly, his voice like venom.
“I was sir, I’m so sorry, I’ll start looking over them more carefully.” Paul’s expression didn’t change, and I could feel my breath begin to pick up. Was I really going to get fired already?
“Come ‘er,” I nodded going further to the desk, standing at the front of it. “Good girl,” he spoke with such a voice that made me tremble. “Now bend over.” He said in such a low voice, I looked up at him in shock.
“I’m sorry what was that?” I asked, but it came out in a stutter.
“You heard me. Bend over.” He spoke in such dominance, and he stood up, walking to were I was. “C’mon, be good for me.” I could practically hear lust dripping out of his mouth. I did as told, I was still very confused, but I didn’t know what to say. “Pull up your skirt baby.” Again, I did as told. My shaky hands going to the hem of my skirt, as I throw it upwards. I felt the cool air up against my thighs, I could feel myself shiver. I gulped once more as I heard Paul’s shaky breath.
“Good,” He said very shakily. I could feel Paul’s warm hand on my lower back making his way down. He keep his hand there for awhile. That’s when I felt a hand roughly slap my ass, and I let out a loud whimper. “Quiet baby,” He spoke cooly, as my breath wavered.
Another slap came down, I jolted upwards only for Paul to lean me back down softly, letting his hand slowly go down once again. My breaths turned into pants as I got aroused. Once again, another hit, I tried to stay quiet but he was so rough. His hands felt so nice, as he softly rubbed my ass, and I suddenly wished he asked me to pull my panties down also.
“You’re doing so good, love.” He said, despite how loud I was being. Another slap, I still wasn’t able to stay quiet, but Paul still praised me as he continued with the act, causing me to get more aroused, if that was even possible. I wanted him so bad. I needed him.
“Paul,” I practically whimpered out. That’s when it stopped, and he stepped back, I let out a noise of frustration, and I heard him chuckle as he bent down slightly.
“Get back to work, darling.” I got chills down down my spine every time Mr. McCartney would call me a pet name, I could feel myself dripping. I got up with a sign of defeat, awkwardly pulling back down my skirt. I keep my head down as I rushed out the room.
I immediately went to the bathroom rushing to the first stall, luckily me being the only one in their. My movements where quick as I locked the stall, my skirt falling to the ground. I needed something, I cannot believe he would just leave me hanging. I get it’s a risky situation, but he put me on edge, he knew what he was doing, and I could also play at that game, I just pray it wouldn’t cost me my job.
I let me hand trail down, slowly, as if it was Paul. I slipped my hand into my panties slowly massaging my clit, but it soon became faster as thoughts of Mr. McCartney would fill my mind.
I pretended as if my hand was his soft, warm one. I trusted upwards letting my back arch up against the stall wall. My pants got louder, and I was trying to control myself but I honestly didn’t care who heard me at this point. I needed release. I thought of the way Paul would look at me with dark hungry eyes, and with that I let myself climax.
I leaned up against the wall, my chest slowly rising and falling. I stayed like that for a minute, letting myself come off from my high.
I washed my hands, and showed myself to my office, and I got back to work as I was told.
A/N: this was based off of the movie: The Secretary starring James Spader. Once I heard Temporary Secretary by Paul McCartney that’s the movie I thought of immediately so I thought I would try and make it a Paul x reader, this is my first time doing this, so I’m sorry if it’s bad, I just wanted to try my hand at something new! :)

I Like to Watch | Dark Phoenix
by Don Hall
When I look back on the debut of Bryan Singer’s X-Men in 2000, the display of serious charisma and acting gravity was significant. Patrick Stewart. Ian McKellan. Famke Janssen. Halle Berry. Anna Paquin. James Marsden. Bruce Davison. The then unknown but amazing Hugh Jackman. I mean, this was a cast of serious talent.
X2 (also Singer) was even better. Brian Cox and Alan Cumming signed on. Once again, great freaking cast, solid writing, great love triangle, with each of these premiere actors getting at least a few moments in the movie to really chew things up.
In that regard, at least Singer understood something that previous attempts at superhero films hadn’t entirely grasped: it isn’t about the powers on display or the special effects, it’s about the people who have them. It takes a lot of fucking charisma to pull off a role derived from a comic book. Imagine Wolverine even being a blip if any other actor had played him but Jackman. Imagine any other actor playing Charles Xavier but Stewart. Then jump to 2017’s Logan and try to conceive of any two actors who could pull that cinematic stunt off.
All told, the first two X-Men movies had five Oscar-winning actors.
When I was a die-hard comic reader, back in the day, it was the artists who made the difference with their specific and distinct drawing styles. My favorite artist was always John Byrne and his take on The Fantastic Four and later the X-Men. There is something about his work that brought characters I loved to a certain kind of life and it always ended up being something about the pen and ink magnetism of the heroes.
When you look at the non-Fox MCU, it isn’t Iron Man that makes that first foray work. It’s Robert Downey, Jr., an Oscar-winning actor with so much natural appeal dripping from his pores and Jeff Bridges oozing palpable malevolence that electrifies the kind of silly storyline. It took Captain America to reveal Chris Evans as a truly exciting actor to watch, and The Hulk isn’t awesome because of the advanced CGI but because Ruffalo is a great actor. Add the extraordinary screen presence of Sam Jackson and how can you fail?
Less than technological advances, I’d argue the primary reason superhero movies are the Big Gorilla in cinema today is about the casting.
Christopher Reeve as Superman. Michael Keaton and Christian Bale as Batman. Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger as The Joker. Cate Blanchett as Hella. Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland as Spiderman. Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor. Ron Perlman as Hellboy. Wesley Snipes as Blade. Hugo Weaving as Red Skull. James Spader as Ultron. Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger. Paul Rudd as Ant-Man. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.  Alfred Molina as Dr. Octopus.
Christ, the Nolan Batman trilogy has both Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman in secondary roles!
When FOX decided to re-invent the X-Men with X-Men: First Class in 2011, they followed suit. James MacAvoy. Michael Fassbender. Jennifer Lawrence. Kevin Bacon. Fuuuck. That’s a chunk of star power by actors with some serious street cred, yes?
Following that up with X-Men: Days of Future Past, we get Stewart, McKellen, Jackman, Berry, MacAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence, as well as Ellen Page and fucking Peter Dinklage!
Sure, X-Men: Apocalypse still has Fassbender, MacAvoy, Lawrence, and Oscar Isaac(!) but suddenly, the X-Men team consists of actors with almost zero screen presence: Nicholas Hault, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, and Sophie Turner. Who? Why? Each one with a diminishing return on presence or pop. None of whom would be interesting enough to have dinner with let alone spend two hours watching them pretend to be superheroes already played by far more charismatic actors.
So, finally, we get to the final FOX X-Men movie. Dark Phoenix. Fassbender and MacAvoy look tired. Lawrence mails in a quick “Thank God I don’t have to do these fucking movies anymore” performance. Jessica Chastain seems bored out of her mind and the heavy-lifting is done by these dull, milquetoast actors trying really hard to emote the big scenes but falling short of a single moment. Even the big message (You are a woman and so your power comes from being emotional) is a watered down version of Brie Larsen’s journey in Captain Marvel, which is flawed because Larsen has the charm of a brick of sod.
Frankly, I love these movies derived from comic book superheroes. I grew up reading this stuff so to see them up onscreen with amazing CGI powers is super cool. These characters are a form of modern mythology and no one casts a demi-god with an actor who couldn’t sell me car insurance.

You Taste Better
Bucky Barnes x reader
Summary: nobody is in the tower except for Bucky and you who decide to play a game in which both of you seem to win.
@supersoldierslover
Tumblr media
(Credits to the owner of the gif)
The tower is in complete silence. Bucky has gone out and you just return from the grocery. Everyone else is abroad so, Bucky and you are the only ones in the tower, which now seems a castle just for both of you.
You play your favourite music in the home theater of the living room to avoid the deadthly silence of home. Keeping the products you have bought is much more easier and quickly since you do it at the rhythm of the music.
The city is already under the dark sky of the night when Bucky returns home.
‘Hey, should I load the chapter?’ Bucky asks you when he goes to look for you at the kitchen.
‘Bucky! I did not know you have arrived. Yes, I am going.’
Five minutes later, Bucky and you are in the couch with a huge blanket on you watching the second season of ‘The Blacklist.’ Out of the record, you have to admit that the voice of the actor, James Spader, reminds you of the voice of the electronic monster, Ultron. What a coincidence.
Time passes and none of you is bored, but you are already hungry since you have devoire this season of the series.
‘I have an idea,’ you say as you get up from the couch, ‘let’s play a game: I give you food and you have to guess what you are eating.’
'Ha, you are the only one that comes with ideas like these. Ok, that sounds funny.’
'Of course it is funny! Come on, sit in the dining room. I will prepare everything.’
As you gather all the food from the kitchen, Bucky is already in the dining room.
You go running to your bedroom to look for a scarf. 'Put this around your eyes,’ you tell Bucky and give the blue scarf to him. 'Do not cheat.’
'No, I promiss I won't.’
'Ok, here we go. Just one clue Bucky, all I have on the table is sweet.’
The minutes pass and Bucky tastes and guesses a cheese cake, donuts, a mix of chocolate and rocklets, among other sweet food.
An idea crosses your mind while you are thinking what to give Bucky next. Both of you are actually having a really good time while playing this game and you do not wanna screw it up, so you do not know if you should do it or not. The room is in complete silence now, you are standing there, biting your bottom lip while your mind is a constant: 'yes! Do it’ and 'no! Just forget about this fucking idea.’
'Doll? Is everything ok? Are you still there or am I talking to the air as a complete asshole?’ Bucky’s voice takes you back to reality.
'Eh? No, no Bucky, I am here. I was just thinking. Ok, this is the last mouthful of the night.’ You say as you ignore that part of your mind that is telling you not to do it. 'I hope you like it,’ you whisper. Very slowly, you get closer to Bucky until your lips are practically touching. Taking courage from you do not know where, you crush your lips on his and, a moment later, you apart from him.
Bucky is quiet and with his mouth open, still processing what has just happened. However, he answers naturally: 'I think I want to taste that again.’
You laugh when you hear his comment and you immeadiately sit on his lap. 'Are you- are you sure?’
'I have never been so sure in my life,’ Bucky answers as he takes the scarf off his eyes. He touches your lips with his thumb and looks at you. You have no time to think because he cups your face with his hands rapidly and now is Bucky who kisses you. The crush of lips is passionate but sweet at the same time.
'This is better than what I have imagined Doll. You taste much better than all this food by the way,' Bucky tells you as he leans your forehead against yours and he plays with your hair.

18+ MINORS AND THOSE WITHOUT AGE IN BIO DNI
YOU WILL BE BLOCKED
AN: another for @lilyevans1 I have a whole set coming so this will be fun! It's been a hot minute since I wrote for Daniel so hopefully this is good.
Warnings: none just pure fluff
There was a groan from behind me as the sun streamed in through the window. Burying my face in the pillow, I tried to resist the urge to wake up. The world of my dreams seemed better and Daniel seemed to agree behind me.
"What time is it?" A shiver went through me as he spoke. I would never get over his voice in the morning. Letting out a soft giggle, I felt him press his face against my neck. A few minutes passed with us in that position before he spoke again. "Apparently too early for either of us to actually be awake." He pulled away from me and I felt the bed shift as he moved onto his back. The cool air against my back made me groan and firmly pulled me into the land of awake. Glancing over my shoulder, I watched as he pushed his hair out of his face. I giggled again and rolled over so I could put my head on his chest.
"You sir need a haircut." Daniel rolled his eyes at me and gently dropped his arms around me.
"I'll get one eventually." He carefully drew circles into my back as we internally debated on getting up. "Do you have work today?" I groaned. "Ok nevermind. We're not going there this morning. I don't. So I'm just going to lay here with you in my arms until it is absolutely necessary for us to get up." Daniel gently tugged me up higher on his chest so he could put his chin on the top of my head.
"How did Jack manage to get you guys a day off today?" I mumbled. Daniel shrugged. Comfortable silence enveloped us as the light started to stream in stronger with each passing minute. When the room was fully lit up, I gently pulled away from Daniel. "I think it's time to get up." He groaned but sat up as well.
"I think you're right." He gently kissed me before getting off the bed and putting on his glasses.
"To answer your question from earlier, I do have to work today." I said as he walked to the bathroom. "I leave in about twenty minutes." Daniel doubled back and pulled me in for a hug.
"In case I'm not done before you leave, have a good day at work. I know that sounds contradictory but somehow I know you'll find a way." He kissed my nose. "I'll be here tonight to hear all about how shitty it was and make you dinner. I love you." He kissed me gently before letting go of me and collecting his clothes from the dresser he left them on.
"I love you too." He smiled at me before he closed the bathroom door and left me to get ready for the day.

Chapter 2
When I walked into the office the next morning, I looked in Andy’s office to see Jim, Pam, Kevin and Andy having some discussion. I decided to ignore it unless they called me in on it. I got to work right away, only being distracted when Robert walked in.
“Good morning Robert.” I smiled at him as he passed my desk. He returned my smile and squeezed my shoulder as he passed.
“Good morning (Y/N).” Robert turned back to me before going into the conference room. “You free after Dwight’s Sabre meeting?” I nodded. “Good. I’m going to meet with Andy and you right after.”
“Sounds good.” I nodded again as I made a note of it. Robert smiled at me again before heading into the conference room. A few minutes later, the meeting in Andy’s office ended and everyone filtered out. It was a surprisingly quiet morning. Before we knew it, Dwight was calling us into the conference room for his meeting. I rolled my eyes at Dwight as he filtered us in and immediately moved to the back to sit next to Robert. “If I fall asleep, don’t bother waking me until it’s over.” I joked as I sat down. Robert chuckled.
“Are Dwight’s meetings that bad?” Robert asked as he put his arm around the back of my chair. Seeing Dwight was about to start his meeting, I nodded.
“You’re about to see.” I whispered.
“This week we are rolling out the brand new Sabre tablet...the Pyramid.” Dwight held up a triangle shaped tablet. I sent Robert a confused look.
“Not my idea.” he leaned closer so I could hear him. I giggled as I nodded my understanding. We looked back at Dwight to see him shaking his head.
“Oh no no no. Without the battery pack and optional memory booster, it’s barely three pounds.” Dwight’s arms were clearly shaking as he held the tablet.
“How much memory does it have without the booster?” Ryan spoke up. I leaned closer to Robert.
“What is this? I know it isn’t your idea but did you really approve this idea?” I turned my head to see Robert’s reaction. He was watching Dwight with confusion clear on his face.
“I don’t…” Robert turned towards me and gave me a shy smile. “I may have been drunk.” I quickly covered my mouth to hide my laugh. We sat listening to the end of Dwight’s meeting, sharing glances and trying to hide our laughter. Once it was finished, we waited for Andy outside his office and tried to get our laughter under control. The door opened as soon as we finished laughing.
“Hi dad!” Andy said. I have him a confused look. In any other situation, I would be on the floor laughing but the look on Robert’s face kept sober. “Ah. Oh boy.” Robert brushed over the mistake and walked into the office.
“Hello Andy.” He looked at Andy’s tie. “Excellent tie.” Erin peaked her head in.
“Would you be requiring a cold beverage while you’re here?” She asked. Robert looked at Andy while he answered.
“I’d love some coffee.” Erin nodded as she left the room, closing the door behind her. Robert looked over at me as we sat down in front of Andy’s desk. “I was looking over your projections and I think we can do better.” I bit my lip as I watched Andy crumble.
“Are you factoring in the...whole national...economy...declining and all that?” Andy was clearly grasping at nothing. Robert gave him a strange look.
“Are these projections for Andy personally or everyone?” I jumped in. Robert looked at me.
“The entire office.” He turned his attention back to Andy. “Andy, do you know why I chose you?”
“I think I can sum it up with what I think is your favorite ice cream flavor.” Andy paused while Robert looked at him. “Vanilla?” Robert chuckled.
“Vanilla? No no no no. You’ll never guess in a million billion years.” He shook his head. I made a mental note to ask him what it was later.
“You were saying you chose me.” Andy deflated. “There was a reason?”
“Andy, can you inspire? Do you have that skill set?” Robert looked at Andy expectantly. Andy was saved by Erin walking back into the office. “Oh! Thank you. Uhm…” The cup Erin was holding was filled to the brim.
“Oh, sorry.” Erin said as she looked around.
“Put it on the desk Erin.” I whispered. She nodded as she set it down. Robert leaned down and sipped it. He drew back in shock.
“That’s very cold.” I looked between Robert and Erin. At least that explained why she hadn’t brunt her hands.
“Yeah. It’s old.” Erin smiled. I looked at her confused. I opened my mouth to say something but the words wouldn’t come out.
“Why would I…?” Robert looked at me and then at Erin, confusion clear on his face.
“I asked if you wanted a cold beverage and you said coffee.” Erin said, confusion clear in her voice.
“Why don’t we get Robert a nice hot fresh cup and I’ll have this.” Andy cut in. Robert looked at Andy before sharing a look with me. We watched their exchange. When Erin left the office again, Robert turned back to Andy with a smirk.
“You like her.” He stated. Andy looked at me and back to Robert. Clearly Andy was thinking the same thing as me. If it was that clear Andy liked Erin, how clear was it that I liked Robert?
“You know, we’ve both been into each other at different times and just never really synced up. Now we’re in this weird dance…” Andy attempted to explain himself.
“I’m afraid you’ve lost my interest.” Robert cut him off, sending a look my way. He walked out of the office and I quickly followed. Andy came out behind me. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned towards Robert, Andy and I. “If the office superstore was supposed to put us little suppliers out of business, why are we still here?” I watched Robert, trying to figure out what he was doing. Kevin raised his hand.
“This is where we go.” He said. I nodded and smiled at him. At least he had the guts to actually answer Robert.
“Oh, you’d go someplace else.” Robert chuckled and looked around the room. “That’s not it. That’s not the answer.” It dawned on me what Robert was trying to do.
“It’s an answer.” Kevin pushed. Robert looked at him and raised an eyebrow. He was clearly not used to being challenged.
“It’s a wrong answer.” He stated. I bit my lip, knowing full well Kevin was going to keep going until Robert cut him off.
“There are no wrong answers.” Kevin shot back. I flashed him a smile again and Kevin nodded in triumph. It was short lived though.
“Take a look at where you are, where you once worked in a dying industry, you now work at its birth.” Robert said. He turned away from Kevin and I made a note to bring him something for his efforts the next day. “Those superstores are terrified of us. Anybody know why?” I held up my hand to Kevin and shook my head. He had done his best for the day. He didn’t need Robert going after him.
“Wait,” Phyllis looked at Stanley. “They’re terrified?” Robert chuckled.
“Let me tell you how I buy something these days. I know what I want, I go to the internet, I get the best price. Or I don’t know what I want and I go to a small store that can help me. The era of personal service is back. You are back. You’ll find that customers will pay our higher prices and then they will thank us, and we will say to them ‘you are welcome.’” Robert nodded at the office as they applauded him. He turned towards Andy and me. “Adnrew, I chose you for a reason. Lead these people. Show me the best numbers this place has ever seen. Last quarter we saw 4% growth. Double it.” My eyes widened. That was a lot to ask of the office.
“You got it.” Andy said. I stepped in.
“Robert, I’m not sure…” Robert cut me off.
“Double it.” He started to walk out of the office. I tailed him.
“Done.” Andy called after him.
“Robert.” I stopped him just outside the office.
“I’m not kidding (Y/N). I want it doubled.” He said as he leaned against the wall. I nodded.
“I get that and trust me it’d be great if it happened. But it's going to take some time.” I shook my head. “I don’t know if we can double it this quarter. Eventually sure but not this quarter.” Robert drew closer to me.
“Double.” He said as he put his hands on my shoulders. “I know the office can do it. Andy can inspire them to do it. If he fails, so be it. It’s on him. But they will at least look to him for incentive.” I closed my eyes and sighed.
“Fine.” I shook my head. “What role do I play in this?” I opened my eyes and gazed at Robert. It was hard to keep my blush down when he was standing so close to me.
“You don’t have one.” Robert said with a smile. “All you have to do is keep me informed. It’s the easiest job out of anyone in the office.” I nodded.
“I’ll keep you posted on what Andy does.” I sighed. Robert nodded.
“I’ll be back later in the day.” He smiled. “I’ll see you then.” Robert leaned in and kissed my cheek before starting off towards the elevator. “Oh. By the way, would you like to get dinner tonight?” he leaned around the corner, a nervous smile on his face. I looked at him wide eyed.
“That...that sounds lovely.” I gasped. Robert chuckled and nodded.
“Great! I’ll text you the details later.” He sent another smile my way. “It is a little obvious (Y/N). I know you were wondering earlier.” He called back as he turned back towards the elevators and got in. I stood in place, shock filling my body. As I finally snapped out of it and started walking back into the office, a blush covered my cheeks. I walked in to see Andy sitting on Jim’s desk and everyone looking at him.
“I was thinking about Robert. Man. What a boss.” Andy saw me walk to my desk in a daze. “Just throws down goals, you know? Anyway, how’s the sales doubling project going?” Jim sent me a look as well but I made a motion that meant I would tell him later.
“Yeah, how are we supposed to do that.” Phyllis said, sending a look at me. “We can’t just press a magic button.” Andy nodded.
“Of course not. There’s no magic button. You have to summon that.” He chuckled.
“If we could just double our sales, we already would have. You’re not making any sense.” Stanley shot back. I snapped out of my daze and gazed around the room. Everyone was throwing looks at me.
“He brings up two good points. Do you have any new leads? Any new territories you want us to look into?” Jim looked over at me. “Maybe have an in with a big client that we can get our foot in the door?” I pointed at Jim and started digging through Michael’s old accounts. If there was anything there we could get a start at an attempt to win back some old clients.
“Dwight, anything?” Andy asked, watching me fly through the papers.
“We could talk about how fast children grow up, and before you know it they’re out of the house.” Dwight said, clearly taking a shot at Jim.
“You know what? We need to get our heads out of the box. If we did have something what would it look like? What would it be?” Andy said. I gave up on the pile of old clients and shook my head at Jim. He raised his hand again. “Tuna.”
“New leads, a new territory to look into, maybe an in with a big company that we could get our foot in the door…” Jim trailed off. Everyone was looking at me again.
“Good sesh.” Andy said as he stood up. He tripped and I had to fight back a laugh. “That leg is asleep.” He started to limp towards his office. “Oh (Y/N). Meeting in five in my office.” I nodded as I went through the list of clients that Jim had pulled up on his computer.
“Ok now tell us.” Dwight leaned over to join the little group that had gathered around my desk. I turned read as I looked at the group. Jim and Pam were looking at me like they knew what had gotten me so red. Dwight was looking at me like I would tell him I lost the assistant manager position and he had gotten it back. Angela was looking at me like I had grown another head, which wasn’t all that different from how she normally looked at me. Erin looked like it was story time which was kind of cute if I had to admit it. I looked at the camera and sighed.
“Robert is testing Andy.” I said. “He wants the numbers for this quarter doubled. He seriously does. And this is his way of making Andy prove that he was right to make him manager.”
“There should be a different way aside from making everyone else do the hard work.” Jim said. “Is there nothing you can do about it (Y/N)?” I shook my head.
“Believe me. I tried. It was just short of following him out of the building and arguing with him.” I sighed, fighting the grin that was threatening to take over my face. “There is absolutely nothing that can be done about this. We just have to figure out some way that we can double our sales.” Everyone nodded before heading back to their desks. I bit my lip as I noticed Jim, Pam, and Dwight were still looking at me expectantly. “What?” I asked, looking at each of them in turn.
“Don’t what us.” Pam said. “We saw the way that you came back in here. Robert said something to you.” I blushed and ducked my head.
“What did he say?” Dwight asked. He leaned on his desk, clearly expecting something that involved the office.
“Swear you won’t tell anyone.” I looked at the three of them. I knew there was a habit of the whole office finding out everyone’s secrets. I wasn’t taking any chances. Not this time. “Swear it.”
“We swear.” The three chorused.
“Now what did he tell you?” Pam leaned closer to me and stared with rapt attention. I smiled at her enthusiasm and knew that she would be asking me a million questions for the rest of the week.
“Robert asked me to dinner.” I whispered. Pam’s jaw dropped and Jim ran a hand down his face. Dwight looked at me and shook his head before getting back to work.
“What did you say?” Pam said quietly. I blushed.
“I said yes.” I smiled as Pam’s smile grew. Jim shook his head.
“Why would you do it?” Jim asked. Pam sent him a look.
“Jim. Don’t say that.” Pam scolded him.
“I did it because I like him.” I shot back. “And while many of you see him as a creep or odd or maybe even think he’s borderline crazy, I think that’s what makes him a good CEO and a good person. So say what you want Jim. I’m going to do what I think is right.” Jim sighed before shaking his head.
“Fine. But don’t forget he is the CEO.” Jim said. “And that he is a fairly creepy guy. Even if he is a genius.” Pam squeezed my hand and smiled at me.
“It’s going to go great. I just know it.” She said. “Tell me everything tomorrow.” I nodded and struggled a little to get back to work. Before long, Andy was calling everyone into the conference room.
“Thanks for coming in guys.” Andy said as we all filled in. I took a spot next to Jim and Pam since Robert wasn’t there to amuse me.
“You don’t have to thank us for coming in.” Phyllis said as she took a seat. “It’s our job.”
“Well I never got thanks for coming into a meeting and I always wanted to be so I’m gonna thank people.” Andy sassed her. I sighed and rubbed my forehead at his actions. This was not going to end well.
“What’s with the blanket?” I finally asked as everyone settled into their seats. Andy removed it with a flourish.
“This is what’s under the blanket.” Andy said. I closed my eyes and sighed. I doubted that this is what Robert had in mind when he told Andy to inspire the office.
“We don’t get it.” Oscar said.
“These are incentives. It’s how we’re gonna double growth. Now, you’re probably all asking yourselves: ‘Well, how does this work?’” Andy was putting on a show and I did not want to see where it went.
“Seems like a basic reward system where you give us points, and then we redeem those points for prizes.” Pam jumped in.
“You’re exactly right and you get a point.” Andy smiled at her. I rolled my eyes and stood up.
“And I’m out.” I said, moving towards the door.
“How does one get a point?” I heard Meredith ask as I made my way to my desk. Shaking my head, I pulled out my phone. I sat down and looked at the contact I pulled up. Biting my lip, I pressed the dial button.
“Hello?” The voice on the other end answered.
“Hi Michael.” I breathed out. I heard the smile on the other end of the line even though I could not see it.
“(Y/N)!” Michael exclaimed. “What’s shaking?” I laughed and walked into the annex.
“Can’t I just call my favorite manager?” I joked. Michael laughed.
“You can but that’s not what you do.” He said. I sighed. “What’s happening at the office?” I spent the next ten minutes filling him in. “Is that all?” Michael sighed.
“Michael, I don’t know what to do.” I ran a hand down my face. “I’m being asked by the CEO to effectively spy on the rest of the office. On top of that, I’m going to go out with him.” I stood up and started pacing. “What do I do? How do I handle this?”
“(Y/N), you need to breathe.” Michael said calmly. “You do what has been asked of you. But you do it on your terms. Give him what you think he should know. If you think all he should know is the basics, then tell him the basics. If you think he should know everything, then tell him everything.” I nodded even though he couldn’t see me.
“And what about….” I sighed. “The other part?” Michael laughed.
“(Y/N), you really expect me to give you advice on that?” He teased. “I married the woman everyone told me not to go after. Do you honestly think I am going to be the one to tell you not to go out with him?” I laughed.
“I suppose you are right Michael.” I admitted. “Speaking of, how is Holly?” Michael sighed.
“Her parents aren’t doing that great but she’s doing fairly well otherwise.” He said.
“I’m sorry to hear that.” I said quietly. “How are you holding up?”
“I’m good. A little bored spending all day at home with the kids.” Michael waited for the ball to drop.
“Kids?” I exclaimed. “Michael, you’re a dad?”
“Yeah. Best thing that ever happened to me.” He said.
“That’s what she said.” I giggled. Michael’s laugh came over the line and I felt myself finally relax for the first time that day. “In all seriousness Michael, congrats.”
“Thanks (Y/N).” He said happily.
“Well, I guess I’ll let you get back to the kids then. Thanks for all of your help Michael. It means an awful lot to me that you actually answered.” I said.
“I’ll always pick up the phone for you (Y/N). You know that.” He said. “I’m always there for any of you. And I always will be.”
“I know Michael.” I confirmed.
“Tell you what, one day you bring that CEO of yours around and introduce me to him. We’ll see if he’s good enough for you.” Michael teased.
“I’ll do that Michael. I’ll talk to you later.” I said, tears threatening to spill over. Michael said his goodbyes and hung up. I wiped away the tears and pulled up Robert’s contact. Michael was still looking out for me, even though he wasn’t in Scranton anymore. I went back into the main office and looked at everyone bustling around.
“What’s going on?” I asked Pam. She was smiling and working on some drawings.
“Andy said if we get five thousand points, he’ll get a tattoo on his ass.” She said before showing me a couple of drawings. My mouth fell open as I looked at the drawings.
“How many points do you have now?” I asked. Pam looked at Jim.
“Halfway there.” He said. Looking around the office, I nodded as I started to walk out of the office. I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my contacts. Finding the one I was looking for, I pressed call and waited for Robert to answer his phone.
“Robert California.” I smiled at the way he answered his phone.
“Hi Robert. It’s (Y/N).” I said.
“(Y/N)! I was actually just going to call you. How are things at the office?” He asked. I bit my lip and made a split second decision about what to tell him.
“Andy found an incentive.” I said. “He had the office halfway to the amount that they need to get him to get a tattoo on his butt.” Robert chuckled.
“That’s how he’s doing it?” He asked. The absurdity of the act finally caught up to me.
“Yeah. That’s what he’s doing.” I said. “It’s ridiculous but it’s working.”
“That’s good.” Robert said. I heard cheering coming from the office. “What’s that noise?”
“Hold on let me check.” I walked back into the office and nearly dropped my phone when I saw the points total. “Holy shit they did it. In one day. They’ve doubled sales and gotten enough points for Andy to have to get a tattoo.” Robert gasped on the other end of the line.
“They seriously did it?” He asked, astonished.
“They did it Robert.” I breathed. I looked around the office as everyone filed into the conference room. “They really did it.”
“Were you going to go with them when Andy….” Robert trails off, leaving the question unasked.
“I didn’t plan on it.” I said. “That wasn’t something I particularly wanted to see. Why do you ask?” I heard Robert chuckle on the other end.
“Did you want to move our date up?” He asked. I rubbed my bottom lip.
“Am I going to get out of work for the rest of the day? Or do I have to wait to finish my work some other time?” I asked. Robert chuckled and I had to turn towards my desk to hide the blush that was coloring my face. I started to gather my belongings and head out the door.
“You are out of work for the rest of the day. But I will have to dock the pay.” Robert teased. I laughed and left a note for Pam on her desk.
“That’s okay sir. I’ll just stay late tomorrow to make it back.” I teased him back. “Where are we going? This way I know where to meet you.” I had entered the elevator and was headed out to the parking lot.
“About that…” Robert trailed off.
“What do you…” I laughed as I walked outside and saw Robert leaning against his car with his phone pressed to his ear. Robert hung up and came over to me. “You do like the element of surprise.” I stood in front of him and shook my head.
“Is that really so bad?” He asked, gently taking my belongings from me. I shook my head.
“No. It’s not.” I made my way over to his car and opened the trunk. Robert smiled as he put my stuff in there and closed it.
“I have to do an interview and then we can leave.” He said and I nodded before getting in the car. He walked off to join the camera crew and they started filming. I listened in while checking my messages from Pam. Apparently they changed the design last minute and gave Andy a dog that was dressed like him. “Why did I choose Andy to run the office? Because he’s all surface, uncomplicated. What you see is what you get. Could be a recipe for mediocrity, yes, but then again, it might just be why people fight for him.” I smiled at Robert’s comments about Andy. “There’s something about an underdog that really inspires,” he paused and I looked over at him. “The unexceptional.” The crew nodded to show that he was done and he walked back over to the car. Getting in, Robert looked at me. “What?” I smiled and shook my head.
“Nothing.” I said. Robert gave me a look. “Ok just that was actually pretty good. I didn’t realize you chose him because the office would do anything for him just as much as he would do anything for them.” Robert smiled and started the car before pulling out of the parking lot.
“Sometimes people surprise you.” He said. Looking over at me, Robert paused. “And sometimes people make you think twice about what you are doing.” I played with the hem of my shirt.
“I make you think twice?” I asked. Robert nodded and cocked his head.
“In a good way.” He assured me. “You had me second guessing the whole double the figures speech I gave Andy the second I stepped into the elevator. And since that first day I’ve been thinking about how you should have become manager and not Andy. But the little stunt he pulled today, I’m not quite sure you would have been able to do that.” I laughed and shook my head.
“No way would I let them design a tattoo and put it on my ass!” Robert laughed and I rolled up my sleeve. “I let my friends talk me into getting a group one when we graduated. It ended up terribly because we let the least artistic person in the group design it.” I showed Robert the tattoo on the inside of my arm by the elbow.
“What is it supposed to be?” He asked as we pulled up to a stop light and he looked at my arm.
“The eye of Horus.” I laughed. “Surrounded by a crown. Even though you wouldn’t tell at first glance.” Robert looked closer and nodded.
“I can see it once you point it out.” He chuckled before taking off down the street again.
“Which is exactly why I wouldn’t let anyone design a tattoo for me ever again.” I rolled down my sleeve and smiled at him. “Even Pam and she’s a great artist.”
“Understandable.” Robert said as he pulled into the parking lot of an apartment building. “Is this ok?” I looked at him confused. “It’s my apartment. I thought we could maybe cook something up and have dinner in.” My gaze softened as I nodded.
“That actually sounds like fun.” I said. Robert smiled as he got out and came around the car to open my door. I got out and followed him up to his apartment. “It’s nice.” I said when Robert led me through the tour.
“It’s really not.” He said with a laugh. “But I’m glad you like it.” He finished the tour in the kitchen where we got to work right away. We kept each other entertained while cooking and at one point, Robert wrapped his arms around my waist as I stood at the stove. I turned my head to look at him and saw that he had the biggest smile on his face.
“Hi.” I said as I returned his smile. “Can I help you?” Robert laughed and shook his head.
“Nope.” He said, pulling me closer to him. I giggled as I quickly put down the spoon that I was using to stir the pot of sauce. “Just enjoying myself and the company.”
“That’s good to hear.” I teased as I put my hands on top of his. “But can I go back to making sure the sauce doesn’t burn?” Robert loosened his hold on me and I moved closer to the stove again. I gently tugged him with me and settled back into him as we waited for the food to finish cooking. Not long after, we made our plates and went to sit at the table. Sitting down, we started to eat. Throughout the dinner we asked each other questions about our lives and things we didn’t already know.
“I want to warn you, I’m in the middle of a divorce right now.” Robert said hesitantly. “She’s got the house right now and I would have taken you there if it wasn’t for her.” I nodded.
“That’s fine.” I said, waving a hand at the comment about the house. “As long as I’m not breaking up something. I don’t mind.” Robert seemed to sag in relief before raising an eyebrow.
“What about you?” He asked.
“In the middle of a divorce?” I laughed and shook my head. “Nope. Never even been married and definitely no significant other.” Robert cocked his head at me.
“Well, I would have expected that someone like you would have…” Robert broke off and waved his hand.
“Nah.” I shook my head again. “Tried that in college and it didn’t work out all that well. They were an ass. Decided it would happen when it happened after that.” Robert nodded and the dinner quieted down after that. Once we had cleared the table and cleaned up, we settled down to watch a little television. Robert put his arm over the back of the couch and I rested my head on his shoulder. It was late when Robert drove me back to the office to get my car. He helped me transfer my stuff from his trunk to mine before opening my door for me.
“I had fun tonight (Y/N).” He said, stalling for time. I nodded and smiled at him.
“I did too.” I said. “Best date I’ve ever had.” Robert smiled before reaching for my hand. I put my hand in his. Robert lifted it and kissed my knuckles.
“So does that mean I get a second date?” He asked, lips still poised over my knuckles.
