☾ - pairing: jade leech x reader ☾ - word count: 811 ☾ - summary: when you overhear someone in the hallway talking about your boyfriend, you can’t help but intervene.
Tumblr media
The halls of Night Raven College were bustling and conversation flowed around you as you tried your best to push your way through the crowds so that you could make your way to your next class. You knew that if you were late again, Crewel was going to lecture you, and the last thing you needed one a day like today was a teacher ripping into you.
With forced determination, you shouldered past a small group of students but just as you were about to turn to corner to head towards your classroom, the sound of a familiar name caught your attention. You didn’t recognize the voice who spoke it, but your footsteps hesitated as you couldn’t help but listen in to what they were saying.
“…with the semester ending at least we won’t have to see the Leech twins anymore. God, they give me the creeps.”
“Yeah, they’re so tall and imposing and always up to something shady. Not to mention, Jade’s fake formalities are disgusting and annoying.”
You came to a complete stop when you realized that you hadn’t been mistaken and that they actually were talking about your boyfriend, and your entire body bristled at the insults they were sharing about him. It wasn’t the first time you had heard such crude remarks during your time at Night Raven, but that didn’t change the way you felt when you heard them. Jade always brushed them off, but you weren’t quite that refined.
“Do you guys have a problem over here?” You seethed, your words coming out as a low hiss as you injected yourself into their circle of conversation. They hadn’t even seen you walk over to them, and they, unsurprisingly, looked puzzled when they realized that your malicious words and expression were directed at them.
“I’m sorry?” One of them asked, and you couldn’t help but laugh, despite there not being a drop of humor in it.
“You should be considering you’re over here talking horrendously about someone you don’t even know. The Leech twins give you the creeps, eh? How about I give you something else?”
Your fist was already raised in the air when, suddenly, a hand gently wrapped around it to stop you. It felt like your entire body was vibrating with rage, and you were just about to elbow the person for intervening, but with one quick glance over your shoulder, you were met with a familiar smile and head of teal and black hair. Sharp teeth glistened in the hall lighting, and your body instantly deflated as your arm lowered back to your side.
“I appreciate you stepping in on our behalf, my love, but that really is quite unnecessary.”
There was something about the sound of Jade’s voice that always brought about a wave of serenity blanketing over you. With his hand still holding your fist, his touch brought an added soothing quality with it, and you felt the tremors of your anger start to subside.
“I was just going to kindly remind them to keep their mouths shut,” you cooed innocently, and Jade chuckled. Over his shoulder, you could hear Floyd laugh - as he was never too far away - and the smile that settled onto your face became a genuine one.
“You’re cute when you’re fired up,” Jade replied, his free hand lifting to cup your chin so as to tilt your head up so that you could look him in the eyes properly. He bent down slowly until he was at your eye level, and you felt your breath catch in your throat as the distance between you shrank. “But please, don’t be going and getting into trouble because of the people around here that don’t like me. I simply wouldn’t forgive myself.”
You pouted briefly before nodding in understanding, and Jade’s smile grew.
“Good. Now, how about I treat you to lunch at the Lounge?” Your brow furrowed in response.
“But, class…” You started to retort, but the look he gave you caused the rest of your words to die on your lips.
“I insist.”
His heterochromatic eyes glowed with a mixture of mischief and adoration that made your stomach twist and your heart flutter. It was such a familiar look, and yet one that you could never say no to.
“Okay.”
Giving in to him was easy. And as your fist loosened and Jade was able to slip his fingers between yours, he led you towards the Hall of Mirrors to head to the Mostro Lounge. You didn’t even turn to see how the students you had threatened had reacted to the entire exchange, and you found that you truly couldn’t care less. They had already been long forgotten the second Jade’s hand had wrapped around yours. As for Crewel and his class that you were missing, that was a punishment you would have to face later.

Summary: Jade is drunk. That's it that's the story. Nah, there's some fluff and dancing with gn reader too.
(Pls reblog and leave a comment ❤)
Mostro Madness
Tumblr media
In the midst of bright neon lights, blaring music, and a crescendo of of excited voices, you wondered if your eyes were deceiving you.
They had to be. It was the only explanation. Because the man in front of you right now could not possibly be Jade Leech
Surely, this was Floyd Leech. It couldn't be anyone else, given his current state.
Suit jacket and hat discarded, bowtie undone, shirt unbuttoned all the way down to just above his belly button, his hair an absolute mess and sticking to a face flushed red and stretched with a wide fanged smile.
Alas, Floyd was currently on the dimly lit stage to your left, singing remarkably well into the mic while swinging back and forth with a half empty glass of whiskey in hand
Therefore, unless someone had duplicated Floyd, the eel smiling at you right now was none other than Jade Leech.
Completely and utterly hammered.
"Puffball." Jade was swaying on his feet, his special pet name for you lilted and floaty on his tongue. "You look..." He giggled softly. "You look beautiful tonight."
You briefly wondered if he was pulling your leg, laughing like that, but you decided to humour him anyways.
"Thanks, Jade." You said, sickly sweet. "You look absolutely enchanting yourself, hon."
Jade's eyes widened in surprise and he covered his face with his hands, his golden eye peeking out from between his gloved fingers.
"Oh my." He slurred, giggling again. "My love is kind to me tonight."
You rolled your eyes at his sudden bashfulness. He was going to be quite embarrassed about this tomorrow (unless he decided to be happy about all that transpired) and he had nobody to blame but himself.
A friendly- if you could really call anything involving Jade friendly- drinking competition with Azul and Floyd had gone laughably awry, leaving all three of them a mess.
Azul lay spawled across one of the couches, glasses askew, with eyes as wide as saucers. He mumbled feverently to himself, ignorant of Floyd drunkenly singing on stage and Jade turning into a giggly puddle at your words.
How the twins managed to get Azul to agree to such a competition in the first place was a mystery.
Truly, the Mostro Lounge 10th Anniversary party (staff exclusively) had devolved into chaos, given the utter state of everybody else there too.
"Jade, I think you should sit down." You say, raising an eyebrow at his horribly wobbly legs.
"Hmm... nooo..?" Jade's voice slurred. "I think... I would like to dance."
"Jade, you're in no condition to walk, nevermind dance!"
Jade's smile was lopsided. "But my love, it'd the perfect time to dance. Alcohol on the tongue, a beautiful setting, romantic music in the air~"
You would hardly call Floyd snarling crude lyrics into the microphone romantic, as good as his voice was, but you hardly had the heart to say no to Jade when he looked so excited.
"Darling~" Jade gripped your hands with own. "Dance with me. Please?"
He looked at you with wide bright eyes, crocodile tears threatening to spill down her cheeks.
You sigh.
"Okay. But don't whine when you topple onto your ass and bring me down with you.'
Jade didn't reply, instead opting to let out another airy giggle and pull you to his chest.
Right hand on your back and left hand intertwined with yours, Jade led you into a messy attempt at a dance that had you swinging around with erratic janky movements.
You nearly fell over a number of times from stepping on each other's feet and knocking into people and furniture.
Jade didn't seem to mind. In fact, he looked utterly delighted. His sharp teeth were on full display, mouth stretched in a genuine happy smile as laughter bubbled from his chest.
It was a Jade that was on cloud nine, happy and free of care. He wasn't blackout drunk, oh no, but he was close. Enough to let go of his carefully crafted facade for a short while, surrounded by friends and loved ones.
Suddenly Jade picked you up and spun you in a circle, grinning at your shriek of surprise.
He came to a sudden stop and pulled you close once more, stroking your cheek cheek his thumb.
"I love you so much, my little puffball.' He whispered. "More than any mushroom in the world."
-End

A/N: Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this little fic! I like the idea of Jade calling his s/o mushroom pet names so you're his Puffball hehe

Unravel (Yandere! Leech Twins)
I came up with this idea at like 1 am when I was exhausted. At the end, I will share the drunken-sounding idea I wrote down. I literally sound like a mess but it’s lowkey hilarious.
I am absolutely in love with Jade Leech (and Ruggie).
Also Jesus Christ this was 3k words- I haven’t written that much in over a year I think.
Tumblr media
Title: Unravel
Pairings: Jade Leech x Reader x Floyd Leech
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, marking, I love Jade omg
Summary: Weren’t you crying out for their help through your music?
“I’m broken down, the world around us
Surrounds my suffering.
You smile and laugh at me,
But you don’t see a thing.”
- from “Unravel” English Metal Cover by Jonathan Young
The Mostro Lounge was unusually quiet. Jade wasn’t the type to complain and it sure made his and Floyd’s job easier. For the first time ever, there was a short break in between orders during rush hour.
Azul, on the other hand, was not happy. His face was impassive, but Jade had known him long enough to read the signs: the quirk in his lips, the narrowed eyes, and the way his shoulders stiffened. Even the astute Azul had no clue as to why rush hour was so slow.
The near-silence of the lounge was shattered by the muffled sound of someone absolutely shredding an electric guitar. Jade, Floyd, and Azul all stopped at once and turned toward the front window. All they could see was the back end of a large crowd gathered around something.
“Jade, Floyd, go check it out,” Azul commanded sharply. The other servers could easily handle the few orders, so Jade and his twin left the lounge, searching for the source of the music.
Being much taller than most of the students in the crowd, Jade and Floyd could easily see who everyone was gathered around.
The prefect of the Ramshackle Dorm, the only girl in the school, and the only student without any magic at all was standing on a bench, playing an electric guitar. Jade almost let out a derisive snort. He had always secretly looked down on you, the poor unfortunate, helpless soul. The one who would never, ever fit in.
You looked down at your red-and-white guitar, avoiding everyone’s gazes. While Jade admitted you had some talent, you still weren’t anything special.
Then, you began to sing.
“I’m breakable, unbreakable. I’m shakable, unshakable.” You suddenly looked up from your guitar, your gaze meeting Jade’s, a gentle smile on your face, “Unraveling since I met you.”
Jade froze and suddenly emotions gripped his heart like an iron fist.
He found himself unable to look away. He managed to give Floyd a side-glance and was surprised to see the expression on his brother’s face. His signature smile was gone, his mouth slightly ajar, his eyes glittering with the same emotion Jade was grappling with.
Suddenly, all of his unkind thoughts about you- the disrespect and derision- began to melt away. Jade shook his head, trying to dispel the bewildering emotions. Just once glance and I’m reacting like this? She was probably just looking past the crowd and I only assumed she was looking at me. If she had been looking at me, Floyd wouldn’t feel the same way I do.
“...I’m paralyzed, I’m paralyzed…” Yes, that’s precisely how I feel right now.
“...don’t wanna hurt you…” My heart feels like it’s about to burst.
“...please just don’t forget me…” I can’t, even though I desperately want to.
Jade was trying desperately to discern what had just happened. Why was he suddenly reconsidering you after one mere second of possible eye contact?
You were beneath him. You had no magic whatsoever. No talent. Nothing.
“That’s the last one for today, okay?” You called out to the crowd. There was a collective groan of disappointment from the crowd. Jade was surprised to hear Floyd’s audible sigh of letdown from beside him.
He risked another glance at his brother and found him pouting, “Shrimpy’s quitting just when we got here!”
As Jade's heart finally settled, the enchantment began to wane. His disdainful attitude toward you had returned. What happened to me was a fluke. The music merely swept me away for a moment.
He watched as you handed the electric guitar back to Ace. Of course it’s not hers, she couldn’t afford the cheapest Mostro Lounge drink. It made him feel better to insult you in his head. She’s below me. An insignificant nobody.
Floyd did not seem to share the same sentiment. As they both reentered the Mostro Lounge, the pout on his lips persisted. “I wanted to hear moooooore,” he whined.
Azul approached them and waited for their report. Jade spoke before Floyd could say something foolish, “There was a crowd around the prefect of Ramshackle Dorm. It is dispersing now, and customers should be returning.”
Sure enough, a line of people entered the lounge, finding seats. Rush hour was back to normal. Azul’s shoulders relaxed and his smile returned, “Was her guitar skills above average?”
Floyd answered before Jade could, “Shrimpy’s sooo good on the guitar and she can sing too!”
“Interesting,” Azul smirked, “I should go and see if she’s interested in a contract. She may not have magic, but she does have a singing voice to offer.”
As Azul left, Jade’s feet moved on their own and, despite knowing that he should be helping with the sudden influx of customers, he felt the need to listen in on his conversation.
You were waving goodbye to Ace and Deuce when Azul approached you.
Jade was too far away to hear the whole conversation, but he caught words here and there.
“Would you… contract… interested… voice.”
Jade watched you laugh, the pleasant sound reaching his ears. His eyes widened and he felt that grip around his heart return.
“Sorry… trust… goodbye.” he managed to make out. You shook your head emphatically, a smile still on your face. You waved to Azul and walked away. Jade couldn’t help but watch you until you disappeared behind a corner.
Azul looked somewhat peeved as he turned back to the lounge. He gave Jade a curious look, and Jade realized, with a start, that he didn’t have an excuse for being outside.
“What are you doing?” Azul asked.
“I was just seeing if you needed any backup,” Jade answered smoothly, knowing that his excuse was a lame one.
Azul nodded, giving him a suspicious sideways look, “Well, I need you inside right now. There are customers to serve.”
Jade nodded and pulled on the door, holding it open for his boss to pass through. Immediately, he headed for the nearest table in his assigned area. He thanked them for their patience and took their order. He headed back to the kitchen to hand the order off to the chefs and was surprised to see Floyd already there, waiting for his return.
“Sooo, how’d it go?” Floyd asked, “Is Shrimpy going to make a contract with Azul?”
“No,” Jade felt a smile itching to spread across his face, “She’s smart enough not to trust him.”
Floyd laughed and grabbed his order, leaving the kitchen and his brother behind. Jade picked up the drink handed to him and felt it slip a little in his hand. He suddenly realized that his hands were sweating.
Is this because of you? Jade dismissed the thought immediately. It couldn’t be because of you. You were nothing special- no one to have a second thought about.
It was just because it was warm outside. No other reason.
—-----------------------------------------
It occurred to Jade much later that you must have been singing a song from your homeworld. He had looked up the lyrics he remembered and found no results. It bothered him that you would sing such a conflicting song instead of a happy one. Were you depressed, perhaps? Upset that you may never return home?
He wasn’t sure why he cared.
The rush hour was slow again and, this time, Jade had no doubts as to why. It was so slow, in fact, that he didn’t notice his twin was missing for quite a while. He let out a groan. It wasn’t unusual for Floyd to duck out on his shifts, but the timing was too obvious.
He was watching you, wasn’t he?
Sure enough, when the crowd returned to the lounge, Floyd was casually walking in with them, his hands behind his head and a pleased smile plastered on his face. Jade felt a rush of anger and… something else.
Was that jealousy?
Jade clenched and unclenched his fists, trying to clear his mind. There was no possibility at all that he was jealous of his brother for getting to watch you. Not a chance in hell.
When Floyd slipped into the kitchen, Jade coldly smiled at him, “Skipping another shift?”
“I couldn’t resist watchin’ Shrimpy again,” Floyd grinned, revealing his sharp teeth, “‘sides, I doubt you had to pick up any slack.”
Jade clenched his teeth. Floyd wasn’t wrong, but still…
It wasn’t fair.
Jade’s eyes widened at the childish thought that crossed his mind. What was wrong with him? He wasn’t acting like himself at all, and he was sure that it was all your fault.
Azul beckoned Jade and Floyd to his office. The twins walked inside and each took a seat across from their boss.
“This girl is stealing our rush hour customers, “Azul said sharply, “I need you two to convince her that she should play as live entertainment for the Mostro Lounge.”
Jade didn’t have to ask for clarification on what Azul meant by “convince”. It would start out as a simple question but, if you refused, they would turn to whatever worked. Floyd would probably threaten to squeeze you and Jade would be expected to manipulate you into thinking you had no choice.
“You will take off of work tomorrow,” Azul said, “I expect to see her either playing for us or not playing at all.”
—---------------------------
You strolled to the bench in front of the Mostro Lounge, where a crowd had already gathered, eagerly awaiting your performance. This time, Floyd and Jade occupied the very front row.
A student from Heartslabyul dorm (Cater, he’s pretty sure) handed you a guitar. Not the red-and-white electric guitar from the first performance Jade had seen, but a regular wooden one. He tried to stuff down his eagerness to see you use a different instrument, but an involuntary smile still made its way to his face. This guitar fits you better. He couldn’t help but think. It’s softer, gentler. Just like you.
He felt heat rushing to his cheeks and desperately willed it away. Why did he react this way to you? You were supposed to be below him, but his heart insisted on the opposite. Grimly, he realized that he must have a crush on you. How foolish could he be?
Floyd’s eager grin, pink cheeks, and lidded eyes told Jade all he needed to know. His twin was just as smitten with you as he was. There was no way Floyd would be willing to threaten you, Jade realized, so it would be up to him to manipulate you.
The very thought caused a lump to form in his throat.
He was torn from his thoughts as you started to strum your guitar, the crowd falling silent so they could hear you play another song from your homeworld.
“Don't be upset or mad at all. Don't feel regret or sad at all.”
Jade was shocked to see your pretty smile gone, replaced by a quivering frown. The lyrics you had just sang sunk in and he felt like his heart had been pierced by a dagger.
“And I'm fine, I am totally fine.” You don’t sound fine.
“I will stand on the side as you shine.” Are you talking about your lack of magic?
“I'm not fine, I'm not fine.” I want to make you feel better, but I don’t know how.
You went on to sing about wanting what sounded like magic. Jade knew, deep in his heart, that you were singing about yourself. Poor you, this affected you more than he thought.
He felt ashamed of all his previous thoughts. Ashamed of the way he looked down on you for your lack of magic. It isn’t your fault, is it? You never asked to be brought here. All you want is to go home.
The headmaster clearly wasn’t working on finding your homeworld and, with a jolt of surprise, he realized he felt lighter at the thought. He didn’t want you to go home.
He turned to Floyd and was startled to see tears shining in his eyes. He had never seen Floyd even close to crying, but here they both were, feeling like they were being torn in two for a mere human with not an ounce of magic to her name.
“Am I too late for a miracle?” you finished, a tear slipping down your cheek.
Poor, precious you.
You sang a few other songs, ones that brought your shining smile back to your pretty face. Jade and Floyd listened, enraptured by your performance. Finally, you announced that you were done for the day, much to the displeasure of the crowd.
The twins waited until the crowd had dispersed, with most of them entering the Mostro Lounge and the rest heading back to their dorms. You had handed the guitar back to Cater and were sitting on the bench, panting a little from all the singing you had done.
Jade and Floyd approached you, both struggling to act as natural as possible. Jade smiled at you and put a hand over his heart, as he often did. This time, however, he could feel how fast his heart was pounding under the skin. Floyd put one hand behind his head and gave you a lazy smile. Jade didn’t miss the way your eyes flickered to his brother’s sharp teeth with a wary look.
“Can I help you guys?” You asked, tilting your head to the side like a curious puppy.
Adorable.
“Hey Shrimpy!” Floyd said lazily, his smile growing even wider, revealing even more razor-sharp teeth.
“Azul has an offer to give you,” Jade replied smoothly.
You wrinkled your nose, “If it’s another contract, forget it.”
“It is not a contract,” Jade said. Then, an idea popped into his head. A devious, dangerous idea, “Why don’t we talk in private? Please, follow us.”
Floyd gave him a confused side glance but Jade gave a nearly imperceptible shake of the head. He didn’t need to say a word for his brother to understand what he was planning. A perk of being twins, perhaps.
You nodded and, when Jade and Floyd began to lead the way, you obediently followed them. All the way to their dorm.
You looked a little confused when they let you in, looking at the two beds across from each other. You gave them a look that clearly asked “Why am I here?”
“Please, take a seat. Make yourself comfortable,” Jade said.
You walked over to one of the beds and sat down, looking at them with suspicion. Jade noticed, victoriously, that it was his bed you had decided to sit on. From Floyd’s noticeable pout, he had realized the same thing.
“Azul would simply like it if you played for the Mostro Lounge. You will be compensated for your time, of course,” Jade explained.
You shook your head, “I just like singing for fun. I want to sing songs from my homeworld. Working in the lounge would be too restrictive, wouldn’t it? I’d be expected to play popular songs from this world, no doubt.”
This was the moment where Jade was supposed to give you ultimatums, lie and tell you that you weren’t allowed to perform on “their” property, or convince you with empty promises and sugar sweet words.
That wasn’t going to happen.
Jade covered his smile with one hand and quirked one of his eyebrows in a playful way, “You really like looking at the ground, don’t you? You should make eye contact when speaking.”
Immediately, your head shot up. No doubt you felt self-conscious about your little habit.
You had fallen right into Jade’s trap.
As soon as you made eye contact with him, he calmly said “Shock the Heart”. Your pretty little eyes instantly glazed over, still staring into his own.
“This will be fun,” Jade purred. He knew he had to be careful what he asked you, since this would be his only chance. He couldn’t use his signature spell on someone more than once, after all.
“What do you think of Floyd and I?” Jade asked.
“You scare me,” you replied.
Ouch.
“Did you see us in the crowd while you sang?”
“Yes.”
“Did you look into our eyes?”
“Probably.”
“How much do you miss your homeworld?”
“Very much.”
Jade felt bad for you, he really did.
But he was now ready to get into the more amusing questions.
“How would you feel if you were trapped in this room forever?”
“I would be scared and upset,” you replied, pure honesty in every answer. You had no choice, after all.
Floyd caught on and snickered, walking over to their door and locking it, then reaching for the chain lock that you likely couldn’t reach easily, if at all.
“What would you do if we trapped you here?”
“Fight and try to escape.”
“Hmm,” Jade hummed. Floyd was already a few steps ahead. He pulled your wrists behind your back and ripped off a generous strip of duct tape. All Jade had to do was distract you a little while longer.
“Will you play for us, if we get you a guitar?”
“I don’t know.”
“That’s okay,” Jade couldn’t help but laugh when his twin brother leaned into your neck and sunk his teeth in. You didn’t flinch- you couldn’t flinch. Not when you were still under Jade’s spell.
It would hurt later, no doubt.
Not one to be left out, Jade leaned into the other side of your neck, breathily asking another question, “What are you most afraid of?”
You told Jade calmly while he sank his razor-sharp teeth into your neck, pulling away only to lap at the blood that welled up from the wound. Floyd had already finished duct taping your feet together.
Jade pushed you over so you were lying on his bed. It was the least he could do to make you comfortable.
He released you from his spell and, before you could scream out in terror or agony, Floyd slapped a piece of duct tape across your mouth. You squirmed around helplessly, looking up at them with fearful, pained eyes.
Floyd looked down at you and started to giggle hysterically. Jade couldn’t help but join in on the laughter, even with the pity he felt for you. He reached over to brush away the tears streaming down your face, still chuckling.
“Welcome to your new home, Shrimpy,” Floyd said.
“Yes, welcome home,” Jade said.
If you were afraid of them before, that was nothing compared to now.
Here is what I wrote down at 1 am: Reader’s a boss on the guitar (borrowed from Ace and Cater) when singing hot metal of Unravel because hell yeah she looks into their eyes and boom they’re in love. They think you want them. Azul offers her a job but she’s like no contracts lol loser. On another day she sings Waiting on a Miracle and their hearts break because sounds like her situation amirite? So they want to comfort her but don’t know how but they also love you like crazy lmao. Kidnap is the next logical step of course lmao they’ll make you happy or something idk figure out the ending tomorrow gurl.

I just came down with a cold too, (as if just having recovered from surgery wasn't enough lol) so we can both project onto some cute fish boys to drown our sorrows together. 😖

Azul Ashengrotto:
He has no idea what to do (affectionate). Azul will notice your absence from daily activities fairly quickly. He had the schedules memorized of the more ah... let's call them 'notable' students, and that includes you. Grim had been attending classes, but if anyone asked him where you were he would just say something about him 'not being your babysitter'. This was technically correct because you were in fact, Grim's babysitter, but it wasn't worth the breath one would waste arguing with him.
By overhearing the conversation between some of your socially impaired first-year groupies, it appeared you were sick. This bothered him greatly. Humans were much more susceptible to disease than mermen and pathetic as it was, he felt a tinge of charity pull at his heart upon hearing that you were ill. He supposed that he could visit.
Armed with a ‘how to take care of a sick human’ article on his phone, a reusable bag, and a full wallet, he raided Sam’s shop for all of the things that are supposed to make even the frailest of humans feel better. He debated calling in Jade and Floyd for their assistance in taking care of you, but he decided the snide comments of the twins weren’t worth the possible benefits. If you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself after all. Armed with soup, tissues, multiple types of medicine, and hot and cold patches, Azul makes his way to Ramshackle.
He knocks, but no response. He supposed he should have guessed as much, it’s not like the ghosts would answer and Grim is doing whatever that fiery tanuki does on the daily.
“Prefect?” He called, pushing on the doorknob to find it unlocked. With a shrug he traipses inside, scanning around the lounge, the bathroom, and the kitchen. It was beaten to hell, but there was a charm to the small things you had littered around the place to make it feel like home. A tied rag potholder here, a stained apron there, he felt a small smile spread across his face. Cute. Terribly kitsch and with no sense of room appeal, but cute.
A floorboard creaked upstairs, and he figured that was where you might be. Azul headed up the stairs and softly called your name, hearing a loud ‘BWUH’ come behind a door that he assumed was yours. Knocking softly, he called out to you again.
“May I come in?” He asked, plastering on his proper salesman face. You so owed him for this display of goodwill.
“A-Azul? Uh, yeah.” You called, voice audibly hoarse and nasally.
Azul swept into your room and set down his bag of goods, sweeping over your room curiously for information. It was the cleanest room in the whole house, but that was like saying that you got second place out of three entries. There were your books and schoolwork, some knickknacks and souvenirs that your friends had undoubtedly given you, but it was otherwise quite bare. As to be expected, he supposed. After a moment of silence, his eyes finally fell on you. Your eyes were red and glassy, your lips chapped, and you were covered in goosebumps. He felt his heart skip a beat.
Wait, what…?
Azul slapped his hand to his chest instinctually, surprised at the sudden feeling that was washing over him. On the other hand, you looked at him with ever-increasing skepticism.
“How can I help you Azul?” You rasp, eyes flicking between his face and the bag that he had dropped on your floor. Azul looked a little flushed. Was it hot in here? Your fever was making it difficult to tell.
“I just ah…” Azul began, his pulse fluttering as he looked for a good explanation. “I just wanted to…”
Your brow was raised amusedly. How often did anyone get to see Azul of all people be at a loss for words?
“I just wanted to make sure that someone had thought to take care of you… since you’re alone here, and all.” He finished, the flush on his cheekbones darkening. He thought back to the times that his family had taken care of him when he was sick, and also the times that they hadn’t. The times that he was alone. And you, you were always that alone, weren’t you?
“Please allow me to help you… on the house.” He finished, eyes looking anywhere but at you.
“I see.” You say. You eye his bag, his expression, the way his hair was windswept in an uncharacteristic way, “Thank you, Azul.”
“You’re… very welcome.”
Tumblr media
Floyd Leech:
He has no idea what to do (insult). Azul had returned from Ramshackle earlier that day in an uncharacteristically spacey mood, and he had a suspicion that it had something to do with you. Telling Jade that he was heading out, he walked to the decrepit building. Opening the door without knocking, he saw that one of Azul’s bags was on the table. Huh.
Rifling through the contents, he found supplies for human colds. Putting two and two together, his face curled into a smirk.
“Azul is making shrimp scampi, huh?” He giggled, cracking himself up with his joke. The soup was chicken noodle, but you had to work with the material you were given. Waltzing his way upstairs to your room, he slammed the door open, which woke you up with a start.
“W-what? Floyd?” You yelled, holding your blanket to your chest in surprise.
There was a slight sliver of skin exposed from the buttons of your pajama top had come loose. Floyd’s eyes flicked to your slipping collar and then back to your face, giggling while he strode forward, flopping to a seat next to you.
“Shrimpy, what is it about you, huh?” He asks, getting dangerously close to your face as his eyes scan for any microexpression that might give away your secret.
“You’re just so… different, aren’t you?” He asked, trailing a finger down the line between your ribs. You frowned and slapped his hand away.
“Floyd, I’m too tired for your weird teasing, okay? Get away, I don’t want to get you sick too.” You chide, trying to push him to his feet and off of your bed with your germy self.
Floyd clicked his tongue, “Aww, don’t be like that. Idiots don’t get colds you know? I’ll be fine.” He said with a grin, the low light sparkling off of his pointed teeth.
You frowned. You highly doubted that but you also knew so little about mermen that he might be right? Ugh, why was everything so confusing?
“Aww, your face is so cute.” Floyd cooed, squishing your cheeks like dough. “Should I sleep here with you? Will that make you feel better?” He asked, getting uncomfortably close again.
“Flowyed, stut upf.” You whined, words muffled by Floyd’s vice grip on your face.
“Fish are cold-blooded, you know? I’d be like an ice pack for your feverish ‘Lil head.” He continued, seemingly convincing himself more than you about why this was such a good idea.
“If you’re really good, we can snuggle naked?”
“FLOYD!”
“Fine, fine, you’re no fun,” Floyd sighed, finally standing up and walking towards your hall. He looked over his shoulder at you as he was closing the door, a mischievous sparkle in his eye.
“I’ll come to sleep with you when you’re well instead. Later!” He cackled, slamming the door shut to shield himself from the pillow you had tried to lob directly at your face.
Feeling even warmer than you had a minute ago, you collapsed in a huff and yelled into your pillow in frustration.
This freaking eel was going to kill you.
Tumblr media
Jade Leech:
Something was apparently in the air today, because both Azul and Floyd had gone to visit the Ramshackle Prefect. Jade had to admit that he was quite fond of them, their naïveté about the world they had found themself in was quite entertaining to watch, especially as it pertained to non-humans such as himself. One day they had taken multiple hours to quiz him about merpeople, their food, their culture, and even their anatomy. Jade had offered a “demonstration” on the anatomy portion, but they had sadly refused his kindness. A pity.
Both Azul and his brother had returned with significant mood changes. Azul had returned in a strangely introspective mood, staring dazedly out the windows with his brows knit in thought and then locking himself in his office for the last few hours, clearly wrapped up in some sort of project.
On the other hand, while Floyd was similarly distracted, he seemed quite frustrated. He was being fairly active on campus, running around in search of stimulation. Jade recognized this as being one of Floyd’s many coping mechanisms when he was actively trying to distract himself. How very interesting.
Walking up to Ramshackle, Jade was distracted by the thought of how the gloomy and decrepit building could be well utilized as a greenhouse for some tricky plants he had hoped to cultivate. He filed away that thought for later, perhaps the Prefect would be willing to trade him some growing space in one of the spare rooms at a later date. He would just need to think of something that they wanted enough to give it to him. Well, he was here anyway, might as well try and find out.
Entering the charming hovel of the entryway, Jade notices the Prefect’s shoes discarded next to the doorway. He certainly did not trust the floor enough to do the same.
Walking up the stairs, Jade decided that the best bet would be simply to beeline to the Prefect. He had brought his mushroom risotto along with him, thinking that you might appreciate a home-cooked meal when you were ill. The feedback he had received upon serving it in the cafeteria was quite positive from the other humans, so he was about 70% sure this particular species of fungi was not lethal to your species. Well, the ones from here at least. That is what the other 30% is for.
Rapping his knuckles lightly on the door, he heard a quiet ‘come in’ from inside the room. Jade turned the knob and let himself inside, holding up the thermos with risotto in one hand and one with peppermint tea in another.
“I apologize for the intrusion.”
“Jade?” You ask, “Wow, I think I’ve had more visitors from Octinavelle today than when you all tried to steal this place.” You graveled, weak cough shaking your body as you laugh.
Jade gives you a warm, genuine smile. His face crumples into a melodic laugh, a real one, and he covers his face to stifle the sound.
“Well, the location is still quite ideal if you ever change your mind.” He says, stepping forward to place the food he brought on your nightstand. “Food and drink, I get the feeling that you might not make some otherwise.”
You look wide-eyed at the two containers, carefully picking them up and unscrewing the caps to see the contents. Through your stuffed-up nose you could smell a hint of mint, and the risotto looked decadently buttery.
You looked to Jade, and he motioned to the attached cutlery. Taking a wary bite, your mouth was met with something both delicious, hearty, and oddly familiar. Had you had this before? Your heart skipped a beat at how tender this moment felt. Jade’s eyes looked lidded and fond while tears threatened to well up in the corners of your eyes.
“I-I really needed this, I think.” You say, your ‘D’s sounded like ‘B’s due to your stuffy nose. “Thank you very much, Jade.”
Jade nods, looking pleased. You continue eating your fill and then allow Jade to gather his dishes, promising that he will come again soon with another dish. You were fairly excited at the prospect.
Jade pauses for a moment at the door, seemingly in thought. He returns to your side, but before you can question him, you feel a warm peck at your forehead.
“Feel better.”
Jade leaves as fast as he came in. You sit there flustered and confused.
Is this just a merman thing or what?

Pray for me! I hate phlegm with my entire body, I want to die and to kill at the same time. Why hast mine own body forsaken me?
What did you think? suggestions, feedback? LMK!

Your TWST S/O reacts to you singing a familiar tune !!
First post oh lord. But this is mainly about if a certain TWST Character heard you singing song from their story for Ex: Hakuna Matata or Part of Your World! This is my first time ever writing something like this and fairly new to TWST spare me 🙇🏾‍♀️ !
Part 2
Azul Ashengrotto
You we’re hanging out with him in his office while Azul was doing whatever Fish Mafia do. Probably looking over his contracts.
You had nothing better else to do other than sit on your phone while you watched your boyfriend do his work. Just out of pure coincidence, you started to hum the tune ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’
At first , he doesn’t mind your humming and finds it quite enjoyable. Few more minutes go by, he finds himself somehow humming the tune with you. He stops, starts to guess what song you are singing and how does he know it.
After you finish humming the song. Azul questions you about what song name is. Sitting there confuse by the sudden question. You debate on telling him because from your world, this song is sung by Ursula. Would he believe you if you told him the truth?
In the end , you didn’t tell him the truth and decided to try and dodge his question. He didn’t stop questioning you about the name of the song. He kept saying how the song felt familiar too him but he’s never heard it before? He even asked you to sing it again but with the lyrics.
He eventually does give up, after you say that you don’t remember the words and you refusing to still tell him the name of the song not the artist. He treats you to a drink at the Monstro Lounge as apologies for even trying to dig in further.
But just cuz he’s not asking you about it anymore. Doesn’t mean he isn’t going to do his research about that songs origins. (Spoiler Alert: he hasn’t found anything yet.)
Tumblr media
Malleus Draconia
Another normal day of Gargoyle Watching with your lovely boyfriend Malleus. You enjoy every moment you spend with him but sometimes it can get a little boring with him. But you would never admit that to his face, it would hurt your heart to see his sad face.
Out of pure coincidence while on your stroll with Malleus looking at the statues. You begin to sing the tune ‘Upon a Dream’ by coincidence as you walked right beside him.
Malleus took in your beautiful voice as you sung this familiar tune. Your voice sounding like angels singing to his ears.
Huh? What was this tune you were singing actually? He pondered. Why did it feel so familiar too him.
He would stop his stroll to question you about the song. You shouldn’t have been surprised for Malleus to heard of the song. But you debated on telling him the truth because the song was sung by Princess Aurora herself. Would he question how you knew this song?
In the end, you decided not to tell him. He respected your choice and asked for you to keep singing for him for a little while longer for him. You agreed and kept singing while you kept watching the Gargoyles with him.
Bonus!!: He has gone to Lilia and spoke to him bout the tune you were singing. Lilia was quite surprised how you knew the tune that Princess Aurora sung to her Prince.
Lilia ought to question later about it but for now he explained to Malleus that the song was an old love song sung by a human decades ago. Malleus of course, wanted to question you as well for how someone like you would know such an old sung? But he decided to just relish in the fact that you were singing a love song to himself. His heart couldn’t take such a thought. He would start looking up love songs to sing back to you.
Tumblr media
Floyd & Jade Leech
Imagine dating both brothers. Wow isn’t your life just exciting. There is never dull day with these two as your significant other.
While your two boyfriends were doing gods knows what. You were sat in one of the booths at the Monstro Lounge. Sitting there drinking a nice glass of Coral Sea Blast. You got bored just sitting there and started singing to yourself.
Under the Sea, a classic song. You chose this song on purpose to sing due to the fishy and sea like atmosphere of the Lounge.
While singing to yourself, and staring off into space. You didn’t notice two sharp eye eels staring directly at you.
Listening to your every word as you sung out the catchy tune. They actually knew this tune because it’s quite the popular song back in their hometown.
Floyd was the first one to approach you, snapping you out of your little trance. Smiling at you goofily and nuzzling your hair. How did his little Shrimpy know one of the most popular songs in the Sea?
Jade not to far behind from his brother came up from the other side of you. Nodding and smiling agreeing with Floyd. He compliments you on how pretty of a singing voice you have.
The two basically have you squished between them as they both coo at how adorable you are singing and we’re having fun to yourself a few minutes ago.
They later on promise one day they’ll show you the sea and take you for a swim with them… this could potentially be very fun and exciting but also terrifying with these two.
Tumblr media
Ruggie Buuchi
When your little hyena lover isn’t taken away by a bossy lion and listening to his every rule. He’s busy sunbathing with you outside and enjoying your company as he lays his head in your lap.
He enjoys these moment to the fullest because it’s the few breaks he gets when he’s not getting bossed around by Leona or he’s the one bossing around Leona himself.
While relishing in each other’s presence, you decided to sing a soft tune to yourself as you closed your eyes enjoying the soothing atmosphere.
His little hyena ears perk up to the sudden humming coming from you. He feels even more relaxed and at peace. Hell he could even fall asleep listening to your voice.
But what was this song you we’re singing? Well you were humming the beat of Hakuna Matata due to the peaceful time you are having and it felt oddly fitting.
Ruggie couldn’t help but shake off the feeling as if he has heard this song before. The beat seemed awfully familiar.
That’s when it hits him. This song is a quite popular song back in his hometown he used to hear people go by sing it when he was younger. It’s been a while since he heard that song resurface.
You hesitated to tell him the truth of how you knew the song. So instead, you agreed on him saying that one of the students had sung it to themselves and you happened to overheard them.
He opens his eyes and decides to question you on how you have heard the song. Did one of the other Savanaclaw students happen to sing it near you?
Ruggie couldn’t help but feel like you weren’t telling the truth but decided to shrug it off. To be fair, the song is pretty catchy so it wouldn’t be surprising if somehow just randomly sung it.
He even joined on singing the song with you until he eventually fell asleep.

Twst Azul x Dancer!Reader
Synopsis: Azul discovers that you were a dancer in your world, and you give him a few dance lessons.
Tumblr media
~~~
Azul walked into the Monstro Lounge early one morning, expecting to see you getting ready to open up. He had hired you a few weeks prior, and it was your job to get there early and ensure everything was ready and clean for when the Lounge opened for the day. You would have rejected the job offer, knowing how shady Azul could be, but the pay was too good to turn down. And let's be honest, Crowly doesn't give you nearly enough to live off of.
Azul couldn't see you at first, but he heard music coming from the kitchen and went to investigate. He pushed open the doors and froze, seeing you sweeping.
But you weren't just sweeping.
You were dancing. And it was beautiful. The music was upbeat and fun, and you looked like you were having the time of your life. You shook your hips, you twirled, you did complicated steps, and you swept the broom along rhythmically. Something about the way you were dancing felt so graceful, and if the precision in your movements told him anything, it was that you had practiced this a lot. He stood in the doorway for a while, watching you with something akin to awe.
Now here's a little secret Azul had. It's the real reason why he had hired you. You see, Azul had developed a bit of a crush on you. You fascinated him. Despite the fact that you were a magicless human who was stuck in a new world, you kept your chin up and worked hard. Your grades were perfect, you had the patience to put up with Crowly, and you were able to handle the Braincell Trio without losing your mind. How could he not admire you?
And now, watching you dance so beautifully, he felt his heart beat faster and his face heat up. He cleared his throat loud enough for you to hear over the music, and you swirled around, startled. He asks where you learned how to dance like that, and you explained to him that you did Dance as an extracurricular back in your world.
If this man wasn't smitten with you before, he's head over heels now. All he can do now is picture you doing different dance forms, like ballet or jazz. He finds it so impressive, because he knows dancing is hard. He wants you to teach him, but he's probably too shy to ask.
If you do end up giving him a dance lesson or two, he's thrilled. You ask him if he has any particular preference for what he wants to learn first, and he suggests learning the waltz. You put on the music and show him where to put his hands and how to step. You two start out slow, with you leading. You're as graceful as ever, but Azul... Well, lets just say Azul's never been the best dancer. But eventually he does get the hang of it. (After stepping on your poor feet a million times...)
Dancing with you like this makes Azul feel things he's never felt before. It's just so intimate. You and him dance around together for a while, and his head feels dizzy with euphoria while you looked overjoyed. This is your forte, and you're happy to share something so special to you to the man you were so enamoured by.
You keep giving him dancing lessons, teaching him different forms and giving him tips on how to improve. He learns fast, and soon he's able to keep up with you pretty decently. You and Azul grow closer and closer, and Azul decides to come up with a way to confess how he feels.
"Prefect, I have a question for you."
"What is it, Azul?"
"Will you be my dance partner... forever?"
This is the first oneshot I've ever written! And of course it's for Azul, my beloved. Feel free to leave feedback in the comments. :)
Requests are open! I write one shots for Twisted Wonderland, preferably x Mc's. I will not write NSFW, noncon, pedophilia, incest, etc.
Have a lovely day, darlings!
Octavinelle's hidden gem
| twst x oc one-shot
Tumblr media
Princess Zeth Maeve Lochness of Aquaria is known of her powerful yet dangerous power, but how could a sweet and kind girl possess such ability?
She uses her "unique magic" for "business" purposes in Octavinelle. Ever since her first year in Night Raven College, she has been under her Azul's wing (tentacle-) and working for him.
Her unique magic is called "Part of My World". Using her beautiful voice, she could hypnotize anyone as she sings a special song. Once they are completely under her control, she could command them to do certain things such as leaking information, performing tasks, etc.
The princess is kind and courteous to her fellow students in Octavinelle, but many of her housemates are terrified of her power.
Tumblr media
One bright sunny day, Yuu was having a stroll along the school's main street once they heard a beautiful sound of a woman singing. She has beautiful red hair that blew against the wind so flawlessly, her blue eyes looking down upon a small rabbit she is holding in her arms. As for her uniform, it was similar to the boys' uniform but she was wearing a skirt that lasted to her thighs. Her socks were in a lavender color with patterned seashells with a brighter color of purple, and a seashell hairclip on the right side of her hair.
'Who is she? I haven't seen her before.'
"Hm? Oh! Hi, Prefect."
Yuu looks at the brooch on her uniform, it was white, She is from Octavinelle dorm. Yuu has been aware of the students there but, she seemed like she doesn't mean any harm. (Are you sure about that?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(credits to: Picrew) (She doesn't have an official design yet ヽ( 'ω' )ノ)
"You know about me?" Yuu asked, Maeve chuckles and. "Everyone has been talking about you, of course I know." She said as she releases the rabbit and turns her attention to Yuu. "You're from Octavinelle, right? But why didn't I see you?" Yuu raised a brow. "Ohhh~ I was running Azul's errands." She responded with a smile. Just then, Yuu and Maeve heard someone running towards them.
"Maeve! There you are! Oh, why do you always wander off somewhere when we are about to have a meeting?" Jade panted, catching his breath. He glared at the girl and lands his hand on her shoulder. "Azul will scold you again if you are late, young lady."
"Ow-!! Jade! I get it, I get it! I'm coming.."
She pouted and crossed her arms with a huff. Jade sighs and shrugs it off with a chuckle. "I am terribly sorry about her, Prefect. She is a princess but she is headstrong when she isn't wearing her crown." Yuu waved their hand while Grim was hiding behind them without saying a word this whole time. "No, No, it's okay."
"Now, let's go to the meeting." Jade turns his attention back to the girl who is still pouting
"Hmph, Okay. Bye bye, Prefect! Grim! Bye bye~!" Her demeanor and aura brightened. Seriously, this is the heir to the throne of Aquaria? What a strange girl.
Hiking with You
Prompt: Fluff Jade x Prefect/Reader - What it feels like to go hiking together with Jade Leech.
Author’s Note: Hi Birb here again! This will be my second work here on Tumblr, this time, it will be a short fluff jade one-shot <3 This is a special gift for my Jade lover friend <3 Have a nice day/night darlings/fledglings~!
CW: None
Tumblr media
Word Count: 927
“So are you ready (name)?” Jade asked the reader as they locked the front door of their dorm.
“Ready as I'll ever be! This will be the first time I will get to hike with someone here in Twisted Wonderland! Thank you so much for inviting me here today Jade”, The prefect smiled as they fetched all their belongings and soon they embarked on their journey towards Mount Olympus.
After an hour of traversing the rocky road of Mount Olympus, Jade saw a peculiar mushroom that was growing beside a tree's bark.
"(Name) look! What a marvellous-looking mushroom!" Jade said as he took out his camera to take pictures of the glowing mushroom.
The prefect looked at Jade, wondering how such a man switched from being intimidating to being cute in a split second. Perhaps this is just Jade’s hidden charm. Something that not every NRC student has a chance to know, and the student body never even tried to look deeper past his normally composed and calm self.
In all honesty, the Prefect was still a bit cautious of Jade given the circumstances that they were in just a few months ago when his housewarden, Azul Ashengrotto, overblotted.
This hiking trip definitely helped the prefect understand and get to know Jade a little bit better. He has always been an enigma to them. And now, given this perfect moment, they were surprised to see his jolly and energetic side. It is honestly adorable and refreshing to see such a tall man gush over peculiar mushrooms and plants in the vast terrain of Mount Olympus.
The two spent the whole day in Mount Olympus observing different types of plants and animals that inhabited the mountain. During those eight long hours of hiking, they talked to each other as if they were longtime friends. Having just the two of them helped ease the atmosphere between them. No responsibilities, no siblings, no friends—just the prefect and Jade enjoying hiking together.
It did not take too long before they settled on a clear path to eat snacks and rest for a little bit before continuing their hiking trip.
“How is your first experience of hiking (name)?” , Jade asked as they sat on a tree log to eat their packed snacks.
“It was great! It is definitely my first time having a chance to explore the mountains here in Twisted Wonderland, this is truly a wonderland.” the Prefect replied while munching on their tuna sandwich.
“That was good to hear, you know…I’ve been observing you for a few months (name), I want to invite you to a hiking trip for my club’s monthly activities but I was too … how do I put this..ugh..-!!” Jade suddenly stopped talking as he became flustered.
"Hahahaha! Come on, Jade-san, why did you hesitate? You know that I don’t bite, right? It is the first time I saw you this flustered!", the Prefect winked as they softly put their hands on their lips to stop them from chuckling. Jade is definitely more than meets the eye.
"(Name)..." Jade could not bring himself to say anything as he continued to look at their smiling faces, his blush
"(Name)... Do you know that whenever I'm around you, my heart skips a beat? I can't help but smile and feel butterflies in my stomach. I think... that I might be falling in love with you,", Jade thought, as he was not able to compose himself to say it personally to the prefect.
"I swear to the Great Seven that one day... I will finally muster the courage to confess my feelings to them", Jade swore to himself that day. For now, he was perfectly fine staying as friends and a senior to the Prefect.
After eating their snacks, the two started their trek towards the highest peak of Mount Olympus. They exchanged jokes and even told stories from their past. Since this is the first time the Prefect went hiking, they stopped occasionally for little rests. Jade was truly a commendable and dependable young man. He was always ready to help his crush while they struggled to ascend some of the mountain's slopes.
As they reached the highest peak of Mount Olympus, they were just in time for the sunset. It was a truly magnificent sight for both the moray eel and the prefect.
“To witness this stunning sunset from the mountain’s peak with you (Name) is such an unforgettable memory.”, Jade uttered as he looked at their surroundings.
"It's a moment of pure natural beauty as the sun sets behind the faraway hills and illuminates the scene.”, Jade remarked as he looked at the Prefect.
"Wow Jade-san! I never knew you were poetic and really liked sunsets, huh? Well, I totally agree that this is such a magnificent view", the Prefect replied, not knowing that Jade was referring to the unadulterated beauty that comes with the view. Perfectly capturing the natural beauty of the prefect, she gave Jade a perfect view of their luscious hair and genuine smile.
The prefect did not hesitate to bring out their ghost camera to capture this special moment.
“Jade-san! Come let’s take a picture together to commemorate this special moment!”, the Prefect said as they took Jade’s hand to make them closer as they tried to take a good angle of their faces and the sunset.
Jade softly looked towards their hand as he softly whispered,
“Hopefully soon we can continue adventuring in love forevermore, together we'll climb our life's peaks and valleys, just like the mushrooms that are boundless”
How Much Do I Worth For You?
Characters: Jade Leech X Trey Clover
Summary: Trey spends his time getting to know what kind of person Jade was.
Note: This is my first character x character fic in twst fandom. I'm gonna be honest, it's not that good.. but I do hope this short drabble do this ship justice? It's one of my favorite pairings after all.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The vice leader of Heartslaybyul was in a predicament at the sight.
Darn, he shouldn't be careless-!
Trey prayed that he did not jinx himself up on this.
He tucked his arms in between his chest, worried etched across his expression as he rushed in his lab coat to his partner for the project in their class.
I'm starting to hate Alchemy lessons.
He shouldn't have volunteered to stay. Alas, it's the professor's request wasn't it? He mused to himself.
“Jade..?! Jade, can you hear me? Hey..?”
His hands rubbing the back of said victim of the unexpected explosion of his failed experiments with ease as if he were a glass about to break.
“Do you want me to take you to an infirmary?”
The moray eel wrinkled his face as he coughed out smoke. He looked dreadful and worn out.
“Trey-san.. I’m sorry to bother you.”
And he went into a fit of rattled pants, startling the green haired boy beside him who was in distress.
“...I’ll finish your assignments for you, don’t be upset about it, alright?” His golden eyes filled with guilt.
If Jade was dejected, he didn't say it as he begrudgingly followed him from behind.
What type of error did Jade brew in his cauldron?
The teacher lets them go as a result. And here they were pacing around at the corridor in haste.
“......”
A few seconds later after walking in silence.
“..........”
How do students usually socialize?
“...Why do you smell nice, Trey-san?”
I don't think that's an ordinary thing to say, Trey thought to himself as he was torn on how to respond.
“Did… I make you disconcerted? I-”
Never mind, ugh.. it's just a puerile question.
“Do you think so? I use floral shampoo today.” He adjusted the rim of his glasses happily.
The blue haired second year stifled a snort at him.
“...I meant something else, Trey-san. Don’t be frightful, I’m confident your hygiene routine is clean.”
“Huh?” There was an authentic smile coming from the third year as he burst out laughing from it.
“Man, why am I this bad at guessing games?”
He saw his underclassman pointy teeth broadened.
I’m a real moron, aren’t I?
His side cheeks heated up like Riddle's ones.
Jade is striding alongside him and his anxiety dies down. How..? Dear Sevens, I am so confused.
“Yes, your scents are like flour, butter and icings.. Did you bake earlier before coming out of your dorm?”
“You hit the nail in the head because I was making some sweets for an upcoming birthday party.” Trey explained with a single motion to visualize his words.
“How envious. Your desserts are delightful.”
“You flatter me. But.. that’s my job.” Trey murmured albeit absentmindedly. “And I’m nothing special.”
“Oya? I must disagree. Since you are intriguing to me.” Those mismatched eyes meet his briefly.
“Your twin brother wouldn't say that.” Trey sighed. “I’m boring for many people, aren't I? I’m plain.”
“They are missing out then, Trey-san.” He flashed a comment as he held their hands together.
“Well, I’m unlike most humans on land, don't I?”
Jade raised his chin to emphasize what he spoke.
I don't understand you.
“Trey-san, are you uncomfortable with it? This?”
He was not familiar with physical interactions.
Are you toying with me, Jade Leech?
Trey watched back with a callous face.
He was rendered speechless as he felt black gloved fingers interlaced into his, the touch was.. like they were lovers. It was ironic, they weren't even dating.
Not that he can imagine that happening.
“Yeah, that's true.” Trey accepted with a grin. “I do feel this is a bit embarrassing for me. Haha, it's not.. breaching the rules or anything so don't dwell on it.”
This will definitely be a comical day for them.
Snake and Spider Stew For Yuu
Felix Cavatica's School Uniform Vignette
A Twisted Wonderland One-Shot for the "Legends Over The Horizon" Series.
Content Mentions: Snakes, Spiders, and illusions
Word Count: 4,050
Summary: On one Saturday with no classes, the Vice Housewarden of Ramshackle Dorm establishes a new tradition after realizing the food situation Crowley put for both Yuu and Grim. To get the sense of home cooking again, Felix decides to make a creative spin on Snake and Spider Stew and stock up at Sam's store with some surprises along the way.
Excerpt:
Yuu and Grim found themselves lined up in the kitchen which was mostly swept up and decent. Yuu had found a torn apron in one of the pantry closets and gave a chef's hat for Grim to wear. Felix paced in front of them as if he were a professional instructor.
"Let's start with what we know. What do you know how to cook?" He asked with a raised eyebrow, wanting to know what he was working with.
"Besides making creations in the microwave?" Yuu tilted their head. "I can make sandwiches, omelets, pizza, pre-packaged soups, mashed potatoes, and milkshakes, and I can follow the recipe well!"
"I just eat whatever's lying around. It's a bonus and delicacy if it's a fine-dining meal!" Grim shrugged. Felix pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head.
"... you're not gonna survive Twisted Wonderland having food like that alone. Move over and let me show ya how it's done."
I forgot to post this on here since I was participating in No Content November at the time, but here is one of my personal story one-shots for one of my Twst OCs, Felix. I know Felix does not come into the main fic "Legends Over The Horizon" until the second or third chapter, but I wanted to practice writing for him and the lore/references/relationships. Plus I was about finished with the one shot at the time.
This fic features my Yuu who is Autistic and Nonbinary. I tried my best with this. I have a lot of fics on the back burner. Happy Holidays and Enjoy!
Accidentally Courting an Eel Ⅱ
author note: part 2 part 2!! You guys seemed to really love this and that makes me so happy! I’ll admit, I really, really enjoyed writing part 2, and that’s probably why it turned out longer than the first part x-x less cameos this time, but lots of Jade and this time its Azul being the only voice of reason. Hope you enjoy!!
characters: Floyd Leech x F!Reader
“Ne… Do you think Y/N likes me?”
The VIP room was quiet apart from the scratching of Azul’s pen and the soft clinking of teacups as Jade prepared a pot of black tea. Floyd laid back on one of the plush VIP room couches, his legs hanging over the arm as he dangled his earring in front of his face, gazing at it as it swayed gently. Azul’s pen didn’t stop, continuing to scrawl across the documents in front of him, whilst a ghost of a smile played on Jade’s lips as he brewed the tea leaves to perfection.
“You two had a fight not even a week ago, why would you think she likes you?” Azul queried, a small frown marring his features, but he did not take his eyes off the documents he was labouring over. Floyd’s hand closed around his earring, and he rolled over, his chin resting against the couch arm as he looked over at Azul, a pout beginning to form on his lips.
“But she bit me.” Floyd pointed out and Azul raised an eyebrow, finally looking up from his documents. “But she isn’t a merfolk, Floyd. She wouldn’t have any idea what that might mean.” Azul countered, sighing at the ridiculousness of this conversation. Floyd’s face fell, his lips turning downward slightly at the corner at Azul’s words. Jade noticed this, elegantly making his way over to Azul’s desk and setting a teacup down with a flourish. “But she still bit him. Such actions carry connotations, bold ones at that. Of course Floyd would feel a certain… Way.” Jade stated, folding his hands in front of him as he stood beside Azul’s desk. Azul’s pen dropped onto the desk with a clatter, and he looked up at Jade incredulously, “are you serious?!”
“And she so kindly repaired Floyd’s earring, without us having to persuade her to do so or claim fair compensation. She looked so pleased with herself too. And I need not remind you just how important gifting jewellery is to merfolk?” Jade smiled serenely, ever happy to be stirring the pot whilst Azul shot him a dirty look.
Floyd’s legs kicked restlessly behind him, his face blank for a few moments before a wide grin spread across his face, sharp teeth glinting as he jumped up off of the couch, a short wild laugh leaving his lips before he dashed out of the VIP room with a spring in his step. Azul sighed as the VIP room door slammed shut, convinced that he was going to have to replace it one of these days due to Floyd’s recklessness, and Jade let out a muffled chuckle that he hid behind his hand.
“Why did you do that?” Azul huffed, picking up his pen and getting back to work, the sound of pen on paper once again filling the room.
“Whatever do you mean?” Jade responded innocently, his composed smile never budging despite the sly glint in his eyes.
“If it ends in tears, I don’t want to hear a peep about it. And this better not disturb business at the Lounge, otherwise you will be the one picking up the overtime.” Azul warned, and Jade’s smile lifted, his teeth starting to peek through.
“Of course. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Tumblr media
Life had mostly gone back to normal after your fight with Floyd.
You were finally free of what seemed like the never-ending punishment from Crewel. As expected, Floyd was nowhere to be seen during your three-day stint in the botanical garden, tending to the regrowth of the ingredients that had gotten caught in the crossfire of your and Floyd’s dispute. It wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be, with you mostly watering the plants, your biggest obstacle having to move housewarden Kingscholar from his napping spot so you could water the plants there (nothing a discreet threat with the watering hose couldn’t fix).
You had also finally submitted your potionology assignment, your partner generously distilling another vial of ginger root so that you could brew the energy boosting potion and not suffer any more of Crewel’s wrath for submitting a late assignment. Considering how insistent that your lab partner was about replacing the ginger root, you can only imagine it was a result of him seeing you taking on Floyd Leech without even batting an eyelid.
Either way, things had all sorted themselves out and your day-to-day school life fell back into place like normal. Well, apart from one difference. Floyd Leech.
He was bothering you. Every day. Without. Fail.
At first, he began randomly attacking you. But there was none of the vicious aggression that usually accompanied a fight, it was more like… Excitable and rough play fighting. And he bites too, incessantly, your arms and hands often littered in his very distinct teeth marks. He’d pop out of nowhere and some days, it was just about all you could do to fend him off, being how you were trying to lay low in order to keep your head, lest housewarden Riddle finally get sick of you and cut you down to size. Floyd seemed to delight in when he managed to make you jump, or when you smacked him with your textbooks in an attempt to ward him away. To make things more odd, after you’d got into a small altercation with another student, Floyd had sought you out that same afternoon. You don’t even know how he had even heard about the incident, having not been a physical one which was diffused rather quickly. With a surprisingly pouty expression, he’d gripped you by the shoulders, not budging an inch even as you tried your best to detach him.
“Ne, don’t go bitin’ other guys, okay?”
Floyd’s random offensives lasted every day for about a week before he began to change tact.
Soon, you’d notice things going missing. Not anything important, but enough to be small, irritating inconveniences. For example, you’d reach into your stationery case for a pencil to find it missing, only to find it tucked behind Floyd’s ear casually as he strolled down the corridor. On one particularly troublesome occasion, Floyd brazenly slipped his hand into your pocket and took your phone, pouting on discovery that it was locked via face ID and yet still managing to somehow line up your phone screen perfectly to get it to unlock. He cackled as he held it out of reach, not reacting no matter how much you stomped on his shoes and tugged at his arms. You were one step away from climbing him like the bean pole he resembles when he finally gave it back, grinning like a Cheshire cat. You didn’t find out until later when a message from a “Moryay!” popped up with the most ridiculous meme and string of emojis did you realise that Floyd had added his number to your phone and made you follow him on all his social media accounts.
After that, you changed your phone lock to passcode only.
But perhaps the most bizarre moment that came out of Floyd’s sudden obsession with you was the nickname he had dubbed you.
“P-pea?!” You spluttered, looking at Floyd with a mix of shock and disbelief.
Floyd gave you his typical toothy grin, leaning forward with his hands in his pockets. “Yeah, pea puffer,” Floyd drawled, looking absolutely delighted with himself, “Y’know, pea puffers are real tiny. They look all cute and unassuming, but they are real aggressive and fight other fish all the time, just like you.” You gaped at this comparison, and that only seemed to please him more, remarking how you really looked like a fish now.
“I’d rather you went back to calling me guppy. Please.” You complained, a hand resting on your hip as you looked upon Floyd, unimpressed.
“No way, pea puffer. You’re much more special than the rest of these lil guppies.”
Tumblr media
It had been weeks, but Floyd was still seeking you out non-stop. Your friends, whilst sympathetic, had begun to avoid you by proxy, trying not to get caught in the crossfire. You were at a loss about why he was so obsessed with you lately, or about what you could do to get him off your back.
“Well, that’s just Floyd Leech,” your friend responded with a shrug as you vented to her on your walk between classes, “if someone interests him, he’ll be all over them. But as soon as he finds them boring, he drops them as quick as he picked them up. That’s just how he is. Although I’ve never seen him bite people like that before.” Your friend commented, eyes briefly glancing down at your bare wrist. You grumbled and quickly rolled down your blazer sleeves, concealing the unique pinprick bite marks. Your friend shrugged again, as if that was the be all and end all of the situation. “What? So I’m just supposed to wait until he finds someone else on campus interesting enough for him to bother?” You huffed in exasperation, and your friend shot you a sympathetic side eye. “Well, I think the best thing you can do if lay low for a little while. Well…” A small smile curved your friends lips up, “as low as you can manage, I guess.” You shot her a half-hearted glare and she laughed, “the point is, if Floyd doesn’t see you for a while, maybe he’ll move on and start terrorising someone else.” The two of you entered the history of magic classroom and took your seats, and there was nothing like an incredibly slow, boring history class to ponder what your friend said and what you should do next, and if it was even possible for you to lay low enough to avoid Floyd for that long.
Having carefully formulated your plan under professor Trein’s nose, you sprung Operation Avoid The Leech into action. In the mornings, you would hurry to your classes, keeping your head down and under the cover of the bustling student body. At lunch, you’d rush to the cafeteria, pick up whatever sandwich was closest you could grab and then you’d dash out of there, eating your lunch in a discreet spot. After afternoon classes, you went straight back to your dorm with no detours, holing yourself up in your room. You managed to tell your club president a convincing enough excuse as to why you would not be attending club activities for the foreseeable future, internally thanking your scrappy reputation for making whatever punishment your club president thought you had gotten yourself into now so much more believable.
Your new routine had some unexpected benefits, with housewarden Riddle often praising your new behaviour, believing that you had turned over a new leaf and you were starting out on your journey to become one of Heartslabyul’s model students. But there was a very specific downside to your new no frills routine.
You were so, so bored.
The irony wasn’t lost on you that whilst you were waiting for Floyd to get bored of you, you were the one who was hopelessly bored, moping around in your room most of the time. There was only so far studying could take you, and looking through your social media only made you feel worse, seeing all of your friend’s stories and posts of how they were spending their precious freedom just making you feel more miserable. You huffed a huge sigh as you threw yourself down on your bed, hugging one of your pillows as you stared aimlessly at the ceiling. Hopefully, just a few more weeks to go…
Tumblr media
Floyd huffed a sigh, slumped across the Mostro Lounge bar, head in his arms as he stared aimlessly gleaming, polished surface of the counter. Jade stood behind the bar, diligently polished glasses as he stared at his twin with a knowing smile. Service at the Mostro Lounge had ended an hour ago, with Azul holing himself up in the VIP room to pour over the day’s sales figures, giving Floyd the perfect opportunity to mope.
“Is something the matter, Floyd? You’re rather sullen today.” Jade commented, knowing full well what the problem was but decided to prod his brother regardless, curious as to what reaction it would elicit. Floyd remained silent, his finger tracing mindless shapes against the countertop. The lounge was silent apart from the occasional clink as Jade set back a perfectly polished glass and began work on the next. Finally, Floyd spoke up.
“Pea puffer is avoiding me…” Floyd mumbled, not raising his eyes up from the counter. Jade’s head tilted slightly in interest, yet he still didn’t stop polishing the glass in his hand. “Pea puffer?” Jade questioned, his curiosity even further piqued, “You mean the small, combative— Ahh.” An amused smile lifted up Jade’s lips at this new piece of information. So Floyd had upgraded you from the sea of guppies to a personal nickname, quite the honour.
“What makes you believe Y/N is avoiding you?” Jade asked, placing the glass he was polishing on the counter and folding his hands neatly on the counter, focusing his full attention on Floyd now. Slowly, Floyd sat up from the counter, resting his chin on his fist as he continued to sulk. “I haven’t seen her in weeks. She’s never in the cafeteria at lunch, I even went to her club but she wasn’t there either. The club prez said she told him she couldn’t attend for a while…”
“I see...” Jade hummed as he mulled this information over, “have you been to the Heartslabyul dorm to check on her?” Floyd’s pout turned into a frown, his mood starting to turn. “Goldfishie banned me from stepping foot in Heartslabyul after the last time.” Jade’s lips turned upwards as he remembered the last time, but he soon turned his mind back to the problem at hand. “I see. This is quite the mystery.”
Floyd didn’t respond, instead staring dejectedly at the glass in front of him. “… I thought she liked me,” Floyd finally broke the silence, “she was the one who started courting me… She bit me, and she fixed my earring!” Frustration began to seep into Floyd’s voice, his eyes narrowing on the glass, “y’know, she was even opening her mouth a lot recently, real wide. Sure, she sometimes covered it with her hand, but…” Floyd’s voice trailed off and he fell back into gazing dejectedly at the glass, until a slender hand reached out and plucked it from the table, back to being polished in Jade’s careful hands.
“Hmm… Perhaps it is time that you let Y/N know that you are courting her back?” Jade mused, and Floyd huffed, his hand falling down onto the counter with a dull thud. “I have! I bit her back! I leave ‘em all up her arms, so she knows how into her I am. And I take her stuff and wear it, so all the other guppies know, y’know?” Floyd reasoned, and Jade nodded slowly, the glass clinking as he slides it back into its place, beautifully gleaming. “I know, but I fear Azul may have been right. Perhaps she does not know.” Jade countered, and Floyd looked up at his twin then, waiting for him to continue. “It seems that land dwellers have more… Fragile courting customs than us merfolk do. It may help to be more direct.” Jade concluded, carefully watching his twin to gauge his reaction to this idea. Floyd stared blankly at Jade, and Jade knew his twin enough to know a dark cloud was starting to form over Floyd’s mood again. On cue, Floyd slumped against the counter again, a whine of annoyance slipping past his lips. “Human customs are annoying,” Floyd continued to whine, burying his face into his arm, “how am I supposed to tell her if she keeps avoiding me?”
Jade looked down at his brother, finding himself a little amused by his uncharacteristically lovesick behaviour. In all the years they had been together, he had never seen Floyd act this way over someone before. How curious. “It’s quite simple, Floyd. You simply need to lure her out.” A cunning smile spread across Jade’s lips, and Floyd perked up slightly, once again turning his attention back to his brother. “I have a plan…” Jade affirmed, leaning forwards and beginning to conspire with his dispirited twin…
It had been two weeks since you had begun Operation Avoid The Leech and to put it bluntly, it was the most boring two weeks of your life. But things were finally starting to look up. Your friends had begun to report to you that Floyd seemed to have calmed down a lot this past week, no longer constantly peppering them with questions about your whereabouts or attempting to hunt you down during breaks or after class. And yesterday, to add the final cherry on top, you received news that a random Scarabia student had caught Floyd’s interest, and he had apparently been chasing them around instead. You were still feeling a little cautious, wondering if you should leave it a few more days before deciding it was safe enough to venture out again. You were on the fence about what to do, but then a friend sent you a message, asking if you wanted to go to a trendy new café that had opened in town. With her assurance that she hadn’t seen Floyd at all that day, and it was very doubtful that you’d run into him in town. Persuaded that everything was fine, and you were finally off the hook, you eagerly agreed to meet her by the clocktower after class.
Classes flew by, and before you knew it you were waiting at the clocktower for your friend to arrive. Your mood was sky high and it was a beautiful day, you couldn’t think of a better day to go into town and celebrate your new freedom. You leaned against one of the pillars, scrolling aimlessly through your social media as you waited for your friend to show. You found yourself getting distracted, doom scrolling through videos on Magicam, and when you finally noticed the time, it was ten minutes after your friend was supposed to meet you. You frowned down at your phone, seeing no messages to say that she was running late. You looked up from your phone, confusion etched on your face as you looked around the courtyard that enclosed the clocktower, wondering if she had somehow missed you. In fact, you were about to message her to check that everything was alright, when you saw a flash of teal walking down the path towards main street. You felt a surge of dread when the figure turned to lock eyes with you and offer his signature insincere smile.
Jade Leech.
Suddenly it all clicked into place.
“Oh fuck.” You muttered to yourself, and you swear you could see Jade’s sharp teeth poking out from under his lips. At that moment, your phone pinged in your hand and a message from your friend popped up, and your feeling of dread only intensified as you read the pop-up notification.
‘I’m so sorry’ was what your friend had sent to you, but you hardly had a chance to dwell on it when you heard the familiar laugh that sent a chill down your spine. Without a second thought, you bolted.
You could hear Floyd Leech’s maniacal laughter behind you as ran around the clocktower, ducking for cover as you internally spat every curse word you knew, trying to figure out what your next move would be. Floyd’s laughter died down into silence, but you weren’t stupid enough to believe that he’d left, pressing yourself against the clocktower and peeking around the corner. The coast seemed to be clear, but now you had to weigh up whether you could outrun Floyd. The outlook was looking dismal. A small body of water cut off one side, but you wondered if you could maybe duck through the trees near Sam’s shop and make a run for the hall of mirrors. The hall of mirrors wasn’t that far from the clocktower, but that all relied on Floyd not chasing after you. You peaked around the corner again, still not seeing Floyd, and you were about to make a break for it when, out of the corner of your eye, you saw a shadow loom over you. Before you could react, Floyd slammed his hand down just above your head, surprising you enough for you to let out a yelp of surprise as he boxed you in against the clocktower with a wide toothed smile and an excited glow in his eyes.
“Found you.”
Floyd leaned his arm against the clocktower, leaning over you as he continued to grin down at you, looking incredibly proud of himself. You looked up at him in disbelief, not much room for you to move with your back pressed against the clocktower and Floyd looming in front of you, effectively crowding you in between his arms. It was rare that you found yourself speechless, your mind spinning as you tried to figure out exactly what you could do in this situation, if at all anything. So instead of overthinking it, you did what you do best.
You attacked.
“Floyd Leech! What did you do to my friend?!” You hissed at him, puncturing every word with a swing of your bag into his stomach. Floyd grunted as the first swing hit him, but then he laughed, letting you hit him a couple of times before he grabbed your bag mid swing, stopping your assault. “I didn’t do anything to your little friend, pea puffer.” Floyd drawled, looking amused when you shot him an indignant look back at him.
“Then why isn’t she here? Are you bullying my friends?” You retorted, trying to tug your bag out of his grip so you could whack him again, but his hand didn’t even budge, like his grip was made of iron. Annoying. Instead, he decided to yank your bag himself, catching you by surprise and making you tumble into his chest. “I ain’t bullyin’ your friends, little pea puffer,” Floyd whispered into your ear, “ain’t it obvious? Your friend sold you out.”
You let out a disgruntled sound as you pushed Floyd, taking a step back and glaring at him. Floyd retained your bag, looping it over his shoulder with a cheeky grin. “Ya see, your friend owed Azul a favour, an’ me and Jade decided we could help her out… If she helped us out.” His tongue poked out of his mouth as he grinned down at you, “you’re too trustin’, pea puffer, it’s cute.” You folded your arms over your chest, glaring at him. You were about to open your mouth to retaliate, but before you could, Floyd suddenly lunged forward and lifted you into his arms, marching off with you without a word, if you didn’t count his trademark giggle.
“Floyd! Put me down!” You shouted, pushing at his shoulders, your legs flailing in protest. Floyd didn’t respond as he walked around the clocktower, and you twisted, trying to get out of his grip. “Stop squirming, pea puffer. You’ll make me drop you.” Floyd complained, even if his grip around your waist didn’t budge an inch as he held you. “Alley-oop!” Floyd cried joyfully as he launched his long leg out, kicking open the door leading into the clocktower with a deafening slam. “Floyd! The clocktower is off limits, are you trying to get us another detention?” You snapped, your eyes wide with alarm. “Relax, pea puffer. What they don’t know won’t hurt them.” Floyd drawled casually, and you huffed. “Easy for you to say, you didn’t even turn up to our last detention!”
Floyd turned his head and grinned at you, and you had to lean back, not realising how close together your faces were. “Then I’ll come to the next one. Now hold on tight!” Floyd grinned, all sharp teeth and mischief, and you barely had a chance to process his words and why you’d need to hold on before he started dashing up the clocktower stairs. You were unable to fight the undignified squeak that ripped past your lips as you clung onto Floyd like your life depended on it, his laughter echoing off of the high walls of the clocktower as he bounded up the stairs. You thought it would never end, but finally a room opened up and Floyd ducked into it, finally setting you back on your feet. “Ta-da~!” Floyd announced, swinging his arms out. The room was small, small enough that Floyd couldn’t even stand at his full height, lest he bump his head on the low ceiling. The true centrepiece of the room was the curved window that looked out onto main street, and you could see all the way to the sports field. A ledge sat below the window, and Floyd took no time to make himself comfortable on it, waving you over.
“Isn’t it cool, pea puffer? I like to come here sometimes, when I just wanna chill without anyone harshin’ my vibe.” Floyd grinned, setting your bag on the ledge and to your surprise, he opened it up and started rifling through it. “Hey!” You scolded, rushing over to stop him as he began to rifle up through your stationery case. “Ne, don’t you have anything fun I can have?” Floyd asked as he pulled one of your pens out, not seeming at all phased when you slapped at his hands, trying to get him out of your things. “If you want something fun, get your own!” You huffed, pulling your stationery case and bag out of his hand and shoving it behind you, out of his reach. You tried to reach for the pen, but he held it out of your reach, his previous sunny expression falling into a pout. “That’s not the point, pea puffer. It has to be something of yours.” Floyd complained and you raised an eyebrow at him, completely lost as to his reasoning behind this.
Floyd’s expression went blank as he stared at you, and if felt like the two of you were locked in a staring contest for hours before he finally decided to speak again. “Ne, you just don’t get it, do you pea puffer?” Floyd asked, his eyebrows drawing down slightly as he continued to stare at you. You suddenly felt like you were under a microscope, shifting uncomfortably on the ledge. “What’s there to get?” You remarked, although you had the odd feeling that you should tread carefully, considering how uncharacteristically serious his face looked, “aren’t you just messing with me because you’re bored?”
Floyd pulled a face at your words. “Jade was right. You really don’t know.” Floyd huffed, before leaning forward and grabbing hold of your wrist, rolling your blazer sleeve up to your elbow with unexpected gentleness, revealing your bare arm. The bite marks Floyd had made had mostly faded by now, and he pulled another face, unhappy with this but pushing on with the conversation anyway. “You bit me, so I bit you.” Floyd stated, looking at your face and seeming to study it for your reaction. You’d be lying if you said you weren’t baffled. “Yeah… So?” You responded, and Floyd’s brow downturned just a little bit more at that.
“And you fixed my earring.”
“Yes…?”
You could see Floyd’s teeth clench together, an annoyed breath huffing out of his nose as he dropped your wrist, raising that hand to grip at his shoulder. He stared at you, brow furrowed and you were truly at a loss for what you had done wrong. You could only stare back at him, eyebrows raised as you waited for him to divulge what exactly you didn’t get.
“Those are all merfolk mating customs.” Floyd finally said flatly, and you felt yourself freeze.
“… Excuse me?” You managed to squeak out, not even feeling embarrassed about how your voice sounded as you stared at Floyd in disbelief. Floyd continued to study your expression; his lips pressed together in a firm line.
“Listen up, pea puffer. You bit me in the potions lab, and that made me think you liked me. Merfolk bite each other when they’re interested, y’know? And when I was mullin’ it over, you came runnin’ after me, holdin’ out my earring that you’d fixed with that pretty smile on your face. You were very persistent in letting me know you were interested.” Floyd explained, looking at you pointedly.
“Wait, wait, wait!” You spluttered, “what does giving your earring back prove? And I bit you when we were fighting!” Floyd just shook his head, letting his hand drop into his lap. “Giving jewellery is like, the top merfolk courting custom,” Floyd said with a shrug, “fixin’ someone’s broken jewellery is just as close. It doesn’t matter how it happened. Plus, merfolk fight all the time. Especially when they like each other, its just natural.”
You stared open mouthed at Floyd as you processed his words. Floyd thought you had a crush on him, because you bit him and fixed his earring?! You were stunned silent, feeling your cheeks heat up slightly at the implication. If Floyd noticed, he didn’t mention it, continuing with his explanation.
“So that’s why I started bitin’ you back. It shows that I like you back and it lets all those guppies know it too,” Floyd’s gaze fell back to your arm again, and now it really made sense why he had pulled a face earlier when he saw his bite marks all but gone, “it’s also why I started borrowin’ your things and keepin’ them on me, so that all the guppies would see that I’m unavailable.” Floyd finished, looking at you expectantly. You simply stared back at him, rendered speechless by Floyd Leech for the umpteenth time that day. Floyd began to frown again at your bewildered expression, and he leaned towards you as he spoke next.
“D’ya get it, pea puffer? I like you.”
Floyd’s rather straightforward, unabashed confession is what snapped you out of daze, and you felt your cheeks grow hot, a red hue painting them. You’d look at home with the roses in the Heartslabyul gardens. You fumbled for some words, your lips moving but nothing coming out as you found yourself awkwardly flustered. A smile started to curve up Floyd’s lips as he saw just how flustered you were becoming, and he leaned closer still, his nose almost close enough to touch yours.
“Ne, pea puffer, d’ya like me back?”
If your cheeks could have grown any redder, they would have. At this point, someone might as well have dug a hole in the Heartslabyul gardens and planted you there, your face putting the roses to shame. “Y-you haven’t even taken me on a date!” You stuttered out, cringing at your own weak defence, only for Floyd to lean back and gesture at the room you were both in.
“Whad’dya mean? We’re on a date right now.” Floyd shot back nonchalantly, and you almost choked on your own tongue.
“This was entrapment! Some would even dare to call it kidnapping!” You retorted, finally starting to shake the daze that his explanation and confession had put you in, “usually, when you like someone, you ask them out on a date.”
Floyd’s grin became toothy, and that’s when you knew you’d really put your foot in it. “D’ya want me to ask you on a date, pea puffer?” There was a shine in his eyes, and he seemed excited about the idea, but also sincere. You felt your cheeks heat up again and you looked away, suddenly finding the spelldrive players on the sports field very interesting. “T-that’s not what I said.”
Regardless of your complete obliviousness to merfolk mating customs and what you had apparently started, Floyd seemed very satisfied with the outcome of the conversation. He scooted closer to you, his knee brushing against yours as he leaned in very close, his lips hovering above yours for a painfully long moment before he decided to detour and press a surprisingly soft kiss to your forehead, his wild toothy grin as he pulled away a complete contradiction to this gentle gesture. “Buckle up, pea puffer, ‘cause now I’m courting you. Aha~!”
Just what had you gotten yourself into?!
I'm Here
Tumblr media
Everything was tainted blue. A heavy, overbearing blue.
Rivers of tears flowed down your cheeks in rivulets and you shook slightly. You are not a loud crier, your sobs are muffled and your hitched, gasping breaths are soft and shakey.
Your eyes are red. Your face is blotched. Your nose is running. Your hair was wild.
You were a mess.
Your face was pressed against the pristine black of a neatly ironed Octavinelle suit jacket, smearing the neat lapels with snot and spit and tears.
The victim of your fluids was, somehow, not bothered at all. In fact his hand, rough from mountain climbing, gently threaded through your hair and patted your head.
There was an orange wrapping itself around the blue, frightening it.
Jade whispered sweet nothings to you as he slowly stroked your back. His movements were careful and practiced. Gentle. He was always gentle with you.
"It's alright my darling I'm right here." He whispered soothingly. His voice was smooth as butter, deep and purring. Caring. He was always caring with you.
Jade took a tissue box from the side table next to the bed you two were curled up on and handed it to you, watching closely as you blew your nose and wiped your eyes.
The cold and dark blue shrank back from the warmth and brightness of the orange, terrified.
You mumbled a thanks and pressed your tear-stained cheek against his chest, closing your tired eyes and listening to the gentle thrum of his heartbeat.
The orange, dominating the blue, was changing too. Becoming lighter. Happier.
Jade wrapped both arms around you and rested his chin on your head. His arms were well defined under that uniform, his muscle hidden well by soft cotton.
His grip was firm and tight. Careful. He was always careful with you.
The blue and orange were drowned in a fluffy pink.
Jade kissed your head, sighing softly.
"I love you." He breathed.
His words were sweet and brief. Loving.
He was always loving with you.
-End
jade x reader x floyd
where they give reader swim lessons (they actually destroy readers one piece and cbat reader )
reader is pissed because they’re literally nakey???? and the assholes who caused it won’t fucking help????
ofc they throw you your now bikini (what’s left of one) and leave you to it.
you know what, fuck it. you put it on and storm out of the swimming area, pool? idk idc to elaborate where they are
and you’re stomping down the hallway, angry as a bull as you silently pray that the ‘bikini’ pieces stay in tact.
you ignore the whistles, the purrs, the cat calls and sway away a hand or two. you’re on a mission and NO horny highschool boy will EVER catch you lacking. never again.
slamming open a door while hiding your body, you asked “where’s ashengrotto”
they point you to two classes over. slamming the door again, a few students peeked out of their classes as you walked by.
slamming open the door, this time not bothering to hide yourself, you call for azul.
“ashengrotto here now!”
he gave you an incredulous look before he quickly got up and walked towards you. closing the door behind him you BLASTED him
“TELL YOUR FUCK DOGS TO LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE YOU HEAR! THOSE SHIT STAINS ARE THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE AND YOU BETTER TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY NEW UNIFORM. WHAT IF I TELL THE WHOLE WORLD ABOUT YOUR TWO MISCHIEVOUS EMPLOYEES HUH?? THEN WHAT”
“and why are you telling me this? i’m not their baby sitters” he sneered
ooooo you wanted to punch him. you wanted to punch him reallll bad
“tell them to piss off”
“tell them yourself” he smirked slightly, one arm holding up his other as he motioned behind you
“they’re right behind me, aren’t they”
he nodded.
without missing a beat, you spin around, loaded your leg, and fired your foot right into one of their crotches.
the crowded cringed as the great and mighty leech collapsed into the ground.
now, i’m guessing no one ever informed them of what ‘crotch shots’ were. but now they do. 🤷🏻
and before the other could react or hear his twin hit the floor, you kicked him too.
spinning to azul, you pulled him by his tie as you heard gasping behind you.
“you’re next fuck-tard” pushing him aside, you stormed off as people cleared a path for you.
of course your reign of terror wasn’t over as you punched a column as you passed it. cursing insults at them still before you stalked off towards your lair. (ramshackle)
one would think the octotrio would be out for blood, ready to make you a another name in their records.
but the three of them fell in love.
【 iii. picture perfect shopping 】
summary: for a debutante, one must be the most eye catching at the ball. yuu decides to take floyd shopping with them. what they didn’t realize was how picky the prankster would be when it came to their outfit…
word count: 1.6k
author’s note: floyd leech my beloved <33 i love this guy sm, and i feel like he’s one of the twsties who’d have rlly good fashion ^^
[ the perfect debutante series | or read on ao3 (coming soon) ]
Tumblr media
"Master~" Floyd groaned, fiddling with his tie. "Do I have to wear somethin' so uncomfortable?"
Today Yuu was supposed to go clothes shopping. Floyd, who had previously looked bored out of his mind, suddenly shot up and volunteered himself. And since none of the others protested, the rest was history.
"Why not?" The corners of Yuu's lips twitched as they buttoned Floyd's vest.
Yuu supposed that they had a bit of a mischievous streak when it came to their own maids. Especially with Floyd Leech. It wasn't often that they had something to tease the maid with.
Floyd grabbed their hand, stopping them in their tracks, "Aren't I supposed to dress you?"
"I suppose," Yuu glanced up, his eyes boring into theirs. "But wouldn't you rather do something more interesting instead?"
Floyd seemed to switch tactics, "Can't I wear my normal uniform? These pants are too stuffy."
Yuu thought about it. About the way Floyd preferred loose skirts that fell just above his knees. Or the way his apron was always stained with something or another from running around all day. Wearing fitted pants probably felt strange in retrospect.
But they had to appreciate how Floyd looked from an aesthetic point of view. The pants all but accentuated his height, coupled with a fitted coat and vest. Floyd looked the spitting image of a young master rather than a maid. (They patted themself on the back for choosing such a perfect outfit.)
"Hmm, but you look handsome like this too," They smiled because Floyd was always weak when it came to compliments.
They knew they won the argument as soon as Floyd released a long sigh "If Master says so~"
"Besides, we aren't trying to attract attention. If it weren't for the ball..."
Floyd grinned then, "Don'tcha worry, all I gotta do is get you lookin' the best at the ball, right Master?"
Turned out that Floyd was quite picky when it came to clothing. Maybe that was why Jade seemed quite apologetic as he was sending them off. What they thought would be a simple shopping trip turned out to be a quest for "only the best that fit Master," as Floyd put it.
"This material...isn't it on the cheaper side?"
Or, "Nah, this color doesn't match your eyes."
Or, their personal favorite, "Master, you're rich, so shouldn't you get a bigger rock?"
Yuu would’ve laughed at all of Floyd’s comments if it wasn’t considered rude to the store owners. The good thing was that Floyd had basically done the hard part for them. He had chosen a suitable outfit on their behalf, swathing them in Night Raven grey, adorned with gold trimmings. And then there were the boots made out of leather from a foreign land. Yuu probably would've chosen without worrying too much about quality if it weren't for Floyd, but he seemed determined to watch over their purchases like a hawk.
Their feet were getting a bit tired, but Yuu couldn't bring themself to say no when Floyd entered another store.
"This time we'll find a good brooch," Floyd said as he opened the door, letting them into the store. "Something bi~g and shiny so that those garbage minnows won't look down on you."
"I'm sure I don't need it," They reassured.
Yuu knew why Floyd was worried. There were plenty of unsavory rumors going around about them, after all. It had been happening for a long time, ever since they attended NRC. 'The young heir is socially inept', or 'A mere teen cannot inherit the Night Raven Duchy, much less an orphan!', or even their least favorite rumor, 'The loyalty of their staff is due to their status.' It didn't matter much to them anyway. By the end of their Debutante, they would make sure that no one would be able to run their mouths about the Duchy or their people.
"Welcome, customers!" The salesman greeted cheerily. "Please have a seat." They both took a seat, and soon the scent of tea leaves seemed to fill the room as they waited. Floyd was already eyeing the display cases, eyes calculating.
The store owner poured them each a cup of tea. His eyes glanced between the two of them before finally landing on Floyd, “What would you like to see, good sir?”
Ah. It seemed that this store owner had mistaken them to be a servant, and Floyd their master. It made sense, given the more simplistic clothing they decided to use if only to disguise their shopping trip. Floyd expression had dropped. They could feel the anger starting to radiate from the maid.
“Hey,” There was a cold expression on Floyd’s face. “Don’t look down on my Master like that.” Oh Sevens.
They tugged at his sleeve, before whispering, “Floyd, don’t—"
“Master?” The owner glanced at them for a moment, not even noticing that he interrupted them. “Are you sure?”
And that seemed to be the final straw for Floyd.
He slammed his hand on the table with a loud bang and Yuu's heart felt like it stopped in their chest. Horror dawned on them as they watched the table shake, the tea set wobbling before shattering with a spectacular sound. CRASH! Hot tea spilled all over the surface of the table, splashing Floyd's arm.
“Floyd!" They hurriedly grabbed his arm, jerking it from the steaming puddle of tea.
Floyd continued to glare at the man, “It seems there’s a minnow who doesn’t know his place.”
They injected as much authority as they could into their voice, “Floyd Leech, I want you to calm down. This behavior is far from appropriate.” They watched as Floyd’s shoulders tensed, conflict passing his expression. The store owner didn’t dare to move either, face frozen in shock.
An eternity seemed to pass before Floyd released a harsh breath, “As your benevolence wishes, Master.” A frustrated expression crossed Floyd’s face before he was turning toward them, sinking to the ground. His forehead pressed against their knee, and Yuu fought not to comfort Floyd for a second.
Instead, they looked up. Yuu stared at the spilled tea with disdain, “Well? Clean up the mess. I'll compensate for the broken tea set.”
“Y-Yes, of course,” The man seemed to sweat even more as he bowed. “And...may I know your name?” The nerve of him to ask after all that.
“Your ignorance astounds me. Most know me as the heir to the Night Raven Duchy.” And the owner turned white as a sheet. Good. That should teach him not to forget their face ever again. As the man stumbled out, they turned their attention to Floyd.
Yuu finally let their hand card into Floyd’s hair, “Floyd. You’re not upset with me, are you?”
“‘M not,” His voice was muffled, and they could feel him press his cheek against their knee. “Are you mad at me?”
They let out a light laugh, brushing the hair out of Floyd’s eyes. He was staring right at them now. “I’m not. I understand why you were offended. Now he’ll never forget my face for as long as he lives.” Floyd had a bleeding heart when it came to those that challenged their status, more than any of their other maids. And that big of a blunder coupled with the fact that the debutante was soon… It was no wonder Floyd had snapped.
"But Master..." Floyd was pouting now. "You don't hafta compensate him."
"I have to compensate him for the damageds. But the Night Raven Duchy will never give him another penny ever again," Yuu held up their palm. "Now show me your hand.”
Floyd obediently lifted his arm, which was all but soaked in tea, “It doesn’t hurt.” The skin was reddened slightly, and they frowned, wishing that they had intervened quicker.
“Still, we should have the doctor take a look later. And you should get changed,” Yuu traced over the wetness of his sleeve. “I…have your uniform. It's in our carriage, down the block.”
Floyd’s head shot up, eyes glittering, “Really?”
They nodded, sheepishly, “If you really were uncomfortable in those clothes, I wasn’t going to force you to keep wearing it for the whole— Woah—“ Floyd stood up, leaving the store before they could finish their sentence.
The owner finally returned. They wondered if he timed it so that Floyd would leave before he entered. They glanced at him, “Do you happen to have a fitting room here?”
“E-Excuse me? This is a jewelry store, but we—“ The door opened almost violently as Floyd walked back in, expression dangerously dark once more. They tapped a finger against their arm. The owner coughed, “W-We have an empty storage room at the back, p-please go ahead, your grace.”
“Thank you,” Yuu brushed off their clothes before offering a hand to Floyd. “Shall we?” Floyd seemed happy to lead them to the back, and more than happy to change back into his normal attire.
Tumblr media
Yuu chuckled at the sight of the lopsided headband and the carelessly tied apron. Riddle and Jamil would have a heart attack if they saw what Floyd looked like as he exited the store.
Floyd stretching ahead of them, “Kinda wish I could've beaten him up a little~”
"Floyd Leech, that is unacceptable," They said with mock seriousness, as Floyd laughed cheerily.
And watching Floyd skipping down the streets, pointing to another store up ahead, well... They couldn't say no.
You Can't Swim??
SUMMARY: The Octotrio don't know that you have never learned to swim. And you went to a beach. What could go wrong? WORD COUNT: 1.9k (I need to sleep)
WARNINGS: Floyd almost let you drown, reader kind of gets panic attacks? Idk (I'm the writer I should know, someone hit me), reader thinks about whacking Floyd, Azul is genuinely in love, Azul is also very traumatized I think, Azul overthinks A/N: Gotta love how I have no warnings about Jade I- Gotta love getting a fic idea about me being unable to swim- And I've had this thought swimming (lol) in my thoughts for a couple of days?? Idk if reader is the significant other of these guys or just besties. I think it leans toward s/o though This reads like a crack fic to me but honestly make sure you know how to swim so you don't die (i don't but that's not the point here) Maybe OOC Jade because he hides himself too well for me to get an accurate read on personality lmfao When Jade is genuinely sweet but the others are unhinged so naturally the unhinged ones are longer- I'm sorry I get no decent ideas for Jade </3 Another late late night post (it's 1:50 AM)
Tumblr media
You had never learned to swim. It wasn't that you were afraid, really. It was just that you had passed the age where people normally learned, and now you were too lazy to and/or didn't have enough time. Whatever excuse to stop a nagging person.
Now, this wouldn't have been a problem if you never went anywhere near bodies of water. Which you mostly didn't. However, knowing merfolk was not the best idea if you didn't know how to swim.
Now you have gone to the beach with him, and that probably wasn't the best idea for either of you.
Tumblr media
Floyd Leech
You had been sitting on the beach near the water, absently looking over some shells as Floyd splashed around deeper in the ocean. The shells really were interesting - nothing like the ones where you had come from (although they had some similarities) and were colorful. So many shapes and varieties, although most were not intact.
You had been so engrossed in this, in fact, that you hadn't realized Floyd had been sneaking up on you. Before you could say another word, he playfully dragged you into the water. While you were fully clothed.
You weren't expecting to go into the water, but you should've known better with Floyd. He was playful and loved to do stuff like this. Usually if Azul was around, he'd have done something… But he wasn't here.
Before you knew it, you were deeper in the ocean than you ever had been before, courtesy to the teal-haired boy swimming and dragging you along. You flailed around a bit, eyes wide in panic. You were, quite honestly, terrified. And it obviously didn't help when Floyd just immediately let you go.
Was he an idiot or was he an idiot?
"Floyd-" You got out before coughing as water shot up your nose, still flailing miserably. It didn't work. You didn't know what to do. Surely, Floyd would help… If he realized what was going on. No matter what you thought, he was bright, wasn't he?
Not bright enough, it seemed, as he was still laughing and not realizing how actually panicked you were.
"Koebi-chan, you look so ridiculous like that," he laughed, almost in hysterics, and you would've smacked him if you weren't so close to actually dying.
And then you sunk.
Your desperate attempts to go to the surface were pointless as you didn't even know how to float or move around in the water.
After a few seconds, Floyd finally noticed you were gone and quickly dove under the surface. Maybe you were trying to get him back?
But his gaze immediately widened as he saw you literally sinking to the ocean floor. His eel tail moved quickly, almost without thinking as he shot to grab you and take you up, up, up so you could actually breathe.
When you came to, you were on the sandy beach again, Floyd leaning over you. His eyes, normally filled with a joking light, were unusually subdued.
"Koebi-chan, why didn't you tell me you couldn't swim?" A pout grew on Floyd's face. "If I knew, I wouldn't have-"
"Yes you would have. We would still be here, just having a different conversation."
"But-"
"No buts."
"I would've made it more fun-"
"Drowning in the ocean is the opposite of fun, Floyd-"
~Bonus because I don't know how to fit one into the story~ "I can teach you how to swim. You just go whoo and let your body move. Y'know. Like dancing." "No, I don't know, Floyd, and this is not going to help me with anything-"
Tumblr media
Jade Leech
Jade had been spending his time on the beach with you, but you were almost certain that he wanted to be swimming in the ocean. It was his natural element, after all.
"Jade, you sure you don't want to go in the water?"
"I'm fine staying here with you, [Y/N]." He gave you a soft smile.
You shook your head. "We've come all the way here, you might as well go swim." You gave him a gentle nudge.
"Well, I'd like you to come with me, if that is possible?" He watched you quietly. "You never go swimming with me."
You paused. Although it was sweet that he wanted you to go with him… "No, I don't think so…" You trailed off. You never liked telling people that you couldn't swim. At this point, it was embarrassing.
The pair of heterochromia eyes staring at you only left you feeling more jittery. "…I, er… I can't swim. So going into the ocean with you sounds kind of like… A bad idea." You froze. "Did you use your Signature Spell on me?"
"Of course not, [Y/N]." Jade stared at you with eyes of hurt, one that looked almost identical to that of his twin's. Only, it was almost obvious that Jade didn't mean the hurt in his eyes. "You just trust me enough to say things to me."
You couldn't deny the truth there. You trusted Jade. "And you wouldn't use your Signature Spell on something so trivial, would you?"
"No, I would not." He shrugged. "On a different note, I can help you learn how to swim."
"I really don't need it-"
"What if someone tries to hurt you one day and they know your weakness?"
"Why would-"
"It's an example, [Y/N]. But if that person decides to do that, you wouldn't be able to do anything. So I should help you in case that scenario occurs."
You sighed softly. "Fine, I guess I can take lessons from you… If it's not too much of a hassle."
"Of course it would not be a hassle or anything of the sort." Jade inclined his head. "All to help you stay safe."
The day went on with Jade helping you learn the basics of swimming - he was a good teacher, which you were happy about. He was patient, and always was there if you ever started to panic.
"We wouldn't want you getting scared of the ocean now, would we?"
Tumblr media
Azul Ashengrotto
Azul had gotten used to you after a couple months. Sure, he hadn't opened up to many people in a while (only Floyd and Jade, but they also teased him constantly about everything, so), but you were soothing and nice. Sure, you teased him sometimes, but it was different. It didn't feel mean, you stopped as soon as you noticed him looking a little uncomfortable, and… He honestly felt like he could open up about anything.
So when it was decided that you two were going to the beach - together - alone? It kind of made him very messed up.
Would you like being at the beach with him? He wasn't completely against showing his octopus form… Would you want him to swim with you? Was he even ready for that?
Those thoughts led him down a spiral, and the day you two were to go, he had bags under his eyes and looked like he was half-dead.
You gently nudged him, murmuring how he should've tried to get more sleep for this day supposedly filled with fun, but he just shrugged.
Soon, you were at the beach, and as Azul saw your smiling face, his gaze softened a little. He loved seeing your happy face.
"C'mon!" You grabbed Azul's hand as you started to run to the water, ignoring his surprised stumbling as he was dragged along. He had a light flush on his cheeks that he was glad you couldn't see.
Soon, you had reached the edge of the water, splashing around in your sandals. It was really fun, even though you knew that you were going to be getting sand in your toes later on.
Azul just kind of watched on, a relaxed expression on his face. This really was soothing… Although he was still thinking about if the Mostro Lounge would be okay with him gone. Surely Jade would do something if Floyd got into trouble… Hopefully. And hopefully, no more dishes would break.
"What are you looking so glum for?" Your voice brought him back to his senses.
"Nothing, just hoping that Jade and Floyd can take care of things at the Mostro Lounge." He sighed softly.
"Oh, I'm sure they'll be fine. Jade's there, right?"
"He can cause as much trouble as Floyd, you know. Although he won't be outright about it." Azul shook his head, a small frown on his face.
"C'mon, turn that frown upside down." You moved closer to him, gently squishing his cheeks. "Today is for having fun, Azul."
"Yes, yes, I know." Azul couldn't help himself; he let out a soft laugh. A genuine one.
You smiled brightly. "You aren't charging me for hearing your little cute laugh?"
"I will charge you if you call it cute."
"Of course you will." You rolled your eyes before abruptly changing the subject. "So are you not going to swim?"
Azul paused. Did you want him to swim? To see his true form? There was an even chance. What should his answer be? "Er… I don't know?"
"Of course you don't have to, Azul, I just thought… I mean, there's no one around." You shrugged a little.
And now more pressure on Azul. Great. He was used to dealing with pressure, yes. Just not this kind from you. "Er… Would you come swim with me?" If you were with him, then maybe…
"No." Your lips parted, maybe to offer an explanation, but it was too late.
Azul was in a downward spiral. Why had you said no? Perhaps octopi merfolk were really too much. Perhaps you would rather be with someone with a pretty tailfin than tentacles. Or maybe a human, one of your own kind. Who said that you even liked him at all? Perhaps you were only with him out of pity, because he was that useless, chubby, good-for-nothing-
"Azul? Azul, are you listening to me?"
He snapped back to attention.
"Seriously, are you okay? Did you seriously get enough sleep last night?" You sighed.
"That's none of your-"
"It is if you're literally zoning out every five seconds." You rolled your eyes. "And anyway, I was just saying that I kind of can't go deeper into the ocean where you probably feel comfortable swimming. Because I can't swim." You shrugged nonchalantly.
But for Azul, it felt like a figurative bomb had been dropped.
You? Couldn't swim? Now that he thought about it, it did make sense… How you always looked so awkward and uncomfortable with water, especially when you came to the Octavinelle dorm. But seriously? How could you not know how to swim?
"Is not knowing how to swim… Normal?"
"Definitely not." You rolled your eyes. "But I'm just too lazy to learn now. And I have no time."
"You do if you have time to scroll on Magicam." Finally, Azul felt a bit better. At least you didn't hate him.
"And this time, I'll teach you how to swim. I'll even do it free of charge." Azul shook his head. "Seeing as I'm so generous."
"You sound like headmage Crowley."
"Do be quiet."
Azul was a pretty good teacher. He ended up not turning into his octopus form until nearly the end of the day, you were practicing your swimming and then just playing around on the sand, building sand castles, anything that you might do at a normal beach outing.
His octopus form was beautiful (as expected), and although you couldn't go to deeper waters, you enjoyed seeing him swim around, always eventually coming back to you.
"Today was truly relaxing, [Y/N]. We should do this again another time."
