Here are some summer fanfic recommendations if you need something to read on the beach, by the pool, or just in your room while you're trying to escape the heat! "Stop saying that!" Robin protested, navigating back toward Batman.

Harley swung her hammer at Catwoman with enough force for a quadruple pirouette. "Fuckmadness?" she asked, stumbling in a circle.

Robin, frustrated, grabbed Batman's hands and pressed them against his ears. "There is an impressionable child present!"

Ivy squinted. "Is he serious?"

"I don't know." Batman attempted to reclaim his hands, and lifted Robin off the ground. Robin continued to hold Batman's hands like earmuffs, and kicked furiously at vines with both legs. "I think it's some kind of ironic meme thing."

Mushy may day 3- massage- pebble and ivy

As always, thank you to @forlorn-crows for the prompts!

Ivy gives pebble a massage

(No warning apply but know it’s slightly horny, and there’s sex jokes in it so. But otherwise it’s cute and fluffy as mushy may should be)

The rich smell of dirt wafted off of pebble as he walked past Ivy in the common room. Omega would have a fit if he saw pebble flop down onto the couch with dirt from the greenhouse still speckled on his clothing, but with the way pebbles back and legs ached, he couldn’t bring himself to care.

“Remind me to dump the recycling bin in earths room again” pebble winced as he attempted to relax his sore muscles into the back of the couch. “Hopefully picking everything up will make his back hurt as much as mine”

“Pulling weeds im assuming?” Ivy asked, leaning over to rest his head on pebbles shoulder.

“Earth apparently found out I fucked alpha in the chapel again, and for some reason that’s considered ‘blasphemous’ and ‘frowned upon’”

Ivy snorted at pebbles annoyance. It was almost a routine at this point, pebble would do something stupid and earth would send him to pull weeds until it was decided he had learned some kind of lesson. Which, in pebbles defense, whoever was the one watching him was awful at determining when he had learned a lesson considering he was doing this almost weekly at this point.

“Does this mean you’ll stop fucking alpha in the chapel?”

“Yeah I’ll start fucking you in there instead” pebble grinned, chuckling as Ivy tried to hide his blush in his shirt. He could vaguely hear him complain about also not wanting to pull weeds, muffled and whiny.

“Can’t do much though until my back stops hurting”

Ivy perked up a bit, turning his head back to the side on pebbles shoulder. He remembered hearing air offer to give earth a massage when he was feeling sore, though judging from the sounds that came from their room that night he wasn’t completely sure they were telling the truth.

It was an option though. He had some eucalyptus and mint salves that earth had taught him to make. He uses them on his hands after a long day of playing, keeping one in his band bag during long sessions.

“I could give you a massage if you want, see if it helps any of the soreness” Ivy offered, reaching down to play with pebbles fingers.

“Yeah? Is that all you’re going to do to me honeysuckle?”

Pebble can’t help but to cackle as Ivy swats at his arm, righting himself to push up from the couch. He rolls his eyes, offering his hand out to also pull pebble to stand with him, intending to bring this back to his room.

He gratefully takes the hand and groans standing up. It’s dramatic, as pebble always tends to be. Ivy tries to stifle his laugh to not encourage his antics, but he wouldn’t want him any other way.

“How do you want me sweetheart” pebble teases, sitting on the side of the bed and grinning widely.

“You have to stop hanging out with alpha” ivy pushes back on pebbles chest to force him to lay down, reaching to grab the aforementioned balm from pebbles nightstand. It really should be his at this point, considering how most of the items are ivys anyways. “Roll over onto your stomach, take your shirt off”

“Never compare me to that freak again” pebble grumbled, dramatically sighing as he rolls over and shucks his shirt off to throw onto the floor.

Ivy climbs onto the bed haphazardly, throwing his leg over pebbles hip to sit in the small of his back. He takes a dollop into his hands, rubbing it around in his palms to warm it up a bit. The smell is soothing, fresh and slightly minty, filling the room with the calming aroma.

As much as he doesn’t want to give in to pebbles god awful flirting, he has to admit to himself that he’s hard to resist like this. Miles of skin laid out in front of him, slightly shiny still from the sweat of working outside. He was beautiful, breathtaking. Even when he’s dirty and tired, Ivy can’t stop himself from staring at him with adoration.

He starts on pebbles shoulders, rubbing the essential oils into the tense muscle.

“Fuck baby, I knew you were good with your hands but Christ-“ pebble groans into the pillow. Ivy works down his sides, kneading into the soft flesh. He takes his time over the spots that seem more tight than others, making an attempt to soothe over any knots. Pebble tries not to straight up moan, cursing at how it feels to have his back finally relaxed.

“Is it working?” Ivy asks, a genuine concern in making sure pebble is doing alright, and that this has some other effect than making him turned on. Pebble nods, melting into the bed as Ivy rubs over the lower part of his back muscles.

“You’re doing amazing” pebble sighs

“Does anything else hurt?”

“I think my dick also might be sore ….”

“….. roll over”

Price, to Soap and Gaz bickering: All right, Don’t you two start- [Ghost groans] Soap: You okay, LT? Ghost: Just a little tooth pain. I'm fine. Continue. Price: Okay... First, My plan is check for service tunnels that lead to - [Ghost groans again] Do you need to go to the dentist, Simon? Simon: I don't like dentists. Just a second...

[Ghost reaches into his vest and pulls out some pliers, then he pulls up his mask, everyone watches in horror as he brings the pliers to his mouth]

Gaz: Hey! Soap: Oh, no, no. No! [Ghost puts the pliers to his tooth] König, shaking his head and waving his hands: Nein, Nein, Nein, Nein!

[Everyone mutters, then screams as Ghost pulls his tooth out, König throws a hand over his masked mouth.]

Orphan: What the f**k??! [She runs out of the briefing room Soap follows.] Gaz: *Throws up in a bin.*

Price: Oh, God! [he leaves the room with a sick Gaz in tow.] Ghost: I'm sorry everybody. What were we talking about? Hello?

[Ghost then looks to see everyone is gone save for Soap’s boyfriend Smoke; whose just staring at him in stunned silence.]

Ghost, to Smoke: The dentist pulled the tooth out yesterday, I wanted to demonstrate to the others that I am capable of withstanding a tremendous amount of pain. Plus, it's was fun to see König faint!

[They look down at König out cold on the ground.]

There’s so much incredible Jason & Bruce fic out there and I’m more than happy to share some recs! I’m unfortunately not the best about remembering to keep track of fics I enjoy, so this is by no means a definitive/comprehensive list of my favorites, but I scrolled through my bookmarks and found a few fics that will hopefully satisfy your Jason & Bruce cravings :)

Stargazer by LemonadeGarden @lemonadegarden (47,656 words, Multi-chap, Complete)

Author’s Summary:

“Jason Todd is seriously injured during patrol one night, and is forced to stay at the manor to recuperate until his injuries are healed. To pass the time, he makes a list of things he never got to do before he died. Except there's one small problem: most of them involve Bruce, and Jason doesn't really think Bruce cares all that much about him anymore. This is a story about how wrong he is, but I made it sad anyway.”

Truly what can I even say about this fic. This is the story that made me fall in love with Jason Todd, and Bruce & Jason reconciliation fics, and Bruce & Jason destination/road trip fics, and basically everything I care most about in this fandom. I’d been a Superbat fan for a while before I started getting into the Batfam side of things, and around the time I read this I was only just starting to read stories about the Robins. This was the gateway fic. This was the one that caught me and made it stick. Formative, definitive, one of my all time faves.

this kind of weather by r_astra @heyy-its-skip (46,456 words, Multi-chap, WIP)

Author’s Summary:

“Jason’s at school when his mom dies, and that’s the only reason any of it happens. If he’d been home, if he’d been with her, he would’ve been in the wind before anyone else even knew. Even if they looked, no one ever would’ve found him. He’d have taken to the sewers if that’s what it took, man-eating crocodile guy and all.”

Ohhhhh this fic. Bio-parent Bruce AUs don’t always do it for me, but the fics that get it right get it RIGHT, and this is one of them. Possibly my favorite Jason joins the batfam late fic ever. I’m obsessed with the Jason characterization in this one. Like actually obsessed. Like he is rotating in my brain like a rotisserie chicken at all times constantly 24/7 obsessed. Cannot recommend enough.

Growing Like A Breeze by whaleofatime @cetaceans-pls (6,114 words, Oneshot, Complete)

Author’s Summary:

“April 27th isn't anyone's favourite date, but it's somehow worse than usual today when Bruce gets his car stolen. It's nice of Red Hood to come to his rescue. Nicer even that Jason keeps him company afterwards.”

If you’ve read my fics I think it should be a given that any Jason & Bruce fic tagged “Inexplicable Road Trip” is absolutely going to do it for me. But god, Bruce’s psyche in this one. The man has twisted himself up in more tangles than the Gordian knot. Really fantastic exploration of Bruce & Jason’s relationship and trying to move forward past the destructiveness of grief and blame. I will be thinking about the bumper stickers on Bruce's Hyundai Elantra forever.

through space and time by sparkycap @sparkysomething (6,334 words, Oneshot, Complete)

Author's Summary:

"When an Outlaws mission gets Jason sent back twelve years in the past, he finds himself in a familiar position: stealing something stupid and getting caught by a Batman who wants to give him a second chance. It’s a refreshing change from how encounters with his present-day Batman usually go."

I am a simple woman. Give me a fic where Bruce interacts with Jason without really knowing the significance of who he's interacting with and I will go feral, every time. Absolutely brutal interaction between a well-meaning Bruce and a hurting Jason in this one. Don't want to spoil anything, but there's one line of dialogue in particular that just. Ugh. Fuck me all the way up.

Clearly Calm and Keeping Terrorized by Batbirdies @batbirdies (258,290 words, Multi-Chap, Complete)

Author's Summary:

"Jason made a deal with Bruce, no killing, and there would be no more conflict between them. At least on patrol. Jason reasoned it would be easier to accomplish his goals without constantly fighting Batman along the way. It didn’t change anything, not really. Not until he found an old gift he never knew about and Bruce asked him to dogsit Titus while he and Damian were out of town. Not until the Lazarus Pit started bothering him again. AKA: My take on a Jason rejoins the family fic."

I am once again reccing a Bruce & Jason reconciliation fic (are you perhaps noticing a trend?) This one will break your heart and put it back together again. It's part of a series but can stand alone (though I've read the two works that precede it and highly recommend them as well). 250k+ words about a father and son and the rest of their family trying to figure out how to heal. Genuinely there is so much love in this fic. And trauma! Can't forget the trauma. But also so much love.

Code of Silence by JHSC @jhscdood (9,376 words, Multi-Chap, Complete)

Author's Summary:

"Willis Todd doesn’t die in prison. That doesn’t change much, until it does."

This one is less Jason & Bruce-centric than the others on this list (though Bruce still features, especially in the other works in the series) but it absolutely fits the bill for Jason & his dad content so I'm reccing it anyway. This fic utterly transformed the way I view Willis Todd. Incredibly thoughtful, emotional exploration of trauma and recovery and trying to heal. The whole series is gold.

Good Intentions and the Highest Hopes by rotasha (16,863 words, Multi-Chap, Complete)

Author's Summary:

"Bruce offers each of his children the chance to go on vacation with him, and they get to choose the destination. Jason chooses the one place he thinks Bruce will enjoy the least, out of spite. That’s how the two of them end up going to Disney World."

Another one that perfectly checks all my favorite Bruce & Jason fic boxes. Reconciliation fic? Check. Set in highly specific non-Gotham destination? Check. Bruce not quite knowing how to connect to Jason but trying his best anyway and Jason finally deciding to let him? Check, check, check. Jason's kind of an asshole in this one; I adore him eternally. And I love Bruce so so much in this.

Note

Hi! I was looking to see if you know of many comics with Batman's villains at the lead!? (Besides Harley and Selina, who've had multiple series and are pretty easy to find). Other than the "Joker" Novel and Penguin: Pain and prejudice, i couldn't find any. Any good suggestions for Joker, Ivy, Two-Face, or any other villian from the Batman universe?

the tldr is that Ivy has several, Two-Face has a handful, the al Ghuls have a couple, and everyone else has had a couple of single issues starring them.

In general, the Batman Arkham series functions as a Batman Rogues Gallery "Greatest Hits" collection. While most of the stories collected in these trades don't feature the rogues as a protagonist, they all explore the characters and their backstories/motivations and feature them in a starring role!

On principle, I generally refuse to recommend Joker comics. Clown man has enough stuff starring him and they're generally easy enough to find without me promoting him more than he already is. Also, to be honest with you I occasionally go out of my way to avoid stuff starring him because he's frankly bored me ever since DC decided to emphasize him as a psychopathic serial killer instead of a funny villain with a clown gimmick.

However, The Joker's Five-Way Revenge (Batman vol. 1 #251) is a fun read, Joker: The Man Who Laughs and Joker's Last Laugh are both good, and Batman: The War of Jokes and Riddles is decent as well. Another fun one that's a little out of the box is Superman: Emperor Joker.

Other than that...I generally recommend the following for Ivy:

Batman Arkham: Poison Ivy (basically an 'Ivy Greatest Hits' collection)

Batman: Poison Ivy (1997)

No Man's Land (yes, it's long. No, Ivy's not a 'lead'. yes, it's also ground zero for Ivy's redemption arc and features her in a major role)

Gotham City Sirens (2009)

And for a couple of stories that aren't Harvey-focused but feature him as a prominent antagonist...read Robin: Year One, A Lonely Place of Dying, and Batman: Prodigal.

For the al Ghuls, apart from the Batman Arkham collections you're primarily looking for Tales of the Demon, the Demon Trilogy (Birth of the Demon, Bride of the Demon, Son of the Demon), Batman: The Chalice, and Batman Annual #26 (the prologue to Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul, which is also fun). Two of Damian's Robin solos (Robin: Son of Batman (2015) and Robin (2021)) also prominently feature Talia. There are...certainly other options, if you want to read about the al Ghuls, but they're rarely well characterized in those (except Talia's LexCorp CEO arc; all hail Talia's Lexcorp CEO arc).

Clayface (the Basil Karlo version) prominently featured as a protagonist in Tynion's Detective Comics Rebirth (2016) run.

Everyone else...apart from stories where they're the prominent antagonist, there were several Villain takeover issues during the period of Batman and Robin (2011) when Damian was dead, Year of the Villain had a few issues focused on the Batman Rogues, and the One Bad Day series focuses each issue on a different Bat Rogue.

There are plenty of other stories centered on various members of Batman's Rogues Gallery, but hopefully this gives you a solid starting place!

Positive Junk, No Cash, The Stupid Stupid Henchmen, The Infested, Gang Control, Corrupt Vision, Atrocity Solution, and many more if you look around enough.

BTS Halloween Fic Recs

In honour of spooky season, here are some fanfic recommendations that I think fit the mood or theme of the season! What that means to me really is just some supernatural fics that I've enjoyed a lot.
