How does the cast of Cookie Run enjoy Summer and Pride month?
Oh wow! A Cookie Run ask! Haven't had one of those in a while!
Also, there are so many cookies in the game now (not even talking about Kingdom) and I don't know or have personalities for all of them. I would say just think of it like a progressive city close to a beach!
So like, there would probably be either a few little Pride Parades, or one really big Pride Parade that cookies can go to. Each little group that has an LGBTQIA+ cookie in it will celebrate it in their own little way.
Either going to a coffee shop that sells Pride themed jellies, or going to the beach to have a fun party or something (I know the cookies aren't supposed to go into the water because they might get soggy, but there are plenty of cookies that still go into water anyway, they will just need to take the time to dry out before heading home, plus the beach can be fun without going into the water.)
Some cookies celebrate more openly than others, while some don't celebrate at all or are still in the closet. There are so many cookies that I wouldn't be able to explain each one and how they deal with summer or Pride, but I would say that most of the time it would be very fun and supportive! (obviously there are some bad apples here and there, but every cookie has their own support group and friends to rely on!)

personal cookie run headcanons!! :0
My drawing tablet's arriving soon so I guess I'll have to share some of my personal headcanons in cookie run as promised (most of them are clotted cream cookie's,,,, ehehe-)
admittedly, it's a pretty "short" list but I will update this once I thought up with new ones :>c without further ado, let's start those headcanons~! ٩(⊙‿⊙)۶
Tumblr media
┌─── ∘°❉°∘ ───┐┌─── ∘°❉°∘ ───┐┌─── ∘°❉°∘ ───┐ ➽─────────❥
- Clotted Cream Cookie owns a stuffed teddy bear/jelly bear as a gift from his mom from childhood / v \ He still holds onto it to this day and doesn't want to admit that he still owns that due to embarrassment ahaha.. He hides it in his room (specifically under one of the pillows in his bed) and pulls it out whenever he was having such a hard time
- Clotted Cream Cookie doesn't know modern slang or anything that Cookies around his age do for fun in the casual. He was raised in a much higher-class so he was only taught proper manners and eloquence. If he was exposed to such stuff, he'll be extremely confused or fascinated and wanted to mimic it himself (basically he's a young boomer lmao, but he is learning~!)
- Clotted Cream Cookie is a bit of a book nerd, as he always reads books (ranging from fantasy books to history books) during his leisure time. He also has his own reading area in his room!
- He never shows it to anyone, but Clotted Cream Cookie is surprisingly vocally talented (in other words, HE CAN SING-). Though he never does sing in front of anyone because he's self-conscious ahaha. He usually sings alone whenever he's in his room or during work aaa,, though Financier Cookie did hear a little bit of it (although it was very faint and didn't believe it was Clotted Cream Cookie at first) (uhuhuhu this is just me inserting the "secretly vocally talented but is too afraid to show it in front of anyone" hc ;v;)
- I'd imagine Clotted Cream Cookie to be around in either in his early 20s or just about to turn 20 (19 years old)
- Clotted Cream Cookie does have a biological father... but let's just say he isn't in the picture anymore, although Clotted Cream Cookie is very much traumatized. not gonna elaborate on that due to how dark it is. (well not yet at least)
ok that's enough Clotted Cream Cookie headcanons for this post HHSDSJDFDK let's continue~!
- Espresso Cookie and Affogato Cookie are related as brothers, but they have long been since separated each other. They don't even know if they know of each other's existence as brothers, but Affogato Cookie does recognizes Espresso Cookie a bit and has a soft spot for him, just a little bit. (I'd like to imagine that only some of the coffee cookies are indeed related to each other. not all but some.)
- Financier Cookie being a big sis to, not just the orphan cookies, but to other cookies as well ehehe (Kouign-Amann Cookie and, to a lesser extent, my cookie run oc for example)
- There were a lot of times where Licorice Cookie kinda regrets being in the Cookies of Darkness All he ever wanted is some sort of validation.. He had no other option after all. He wanted to turn to the good side but Licorice Cookie just believes there's no way for him to be good. I mean, Licorice Cookie isn't all that evil- He's just now trapped on his own decision.
- Cream Puff Cookie sometimes visits the shore to play with Peppermint Cookie during her days in the Parfaedia Institute. Though ever since she became an alumna and busied herself with studying her magic further, alongside protecting the city. She never had time to visit the shore, Which made Peppermint Cookie a little sad.
- I'd like to see that Madeleine Cookie and Financier Cookie are a little bit older than Clotted Cream Cookie (maybe 24 or 25 respectively)
➽─────────❥
【☆】 ★ 【☆】 ╰── ⋅ ⋅ ── ✩ ── ⋅ ⋅ ──╯ 【☆】 ★ 【☆】 I think that's it for now ahdshasd, I told you this is gonna be a short list, ;v; thank you if you read this far ~! I'll probably think of some stuff but for now, here's the current list this definitely tells that Clotted Cream Cookie is my favorite character lololol
notes:
fun fact, the bit about Clotted Cream Cookie being secretly talented at singing and is reluctant to sing in front of everyone is based on the crk 2nd anniversary stream where his eng va, aaron dismuke (aka miyuki shirogane in kaguya-sama love is war s1-s2 and william james moriarty in moriarty the patriot), was asked to sing in-character but he straight up refuses HAHSHSAHD
the last headcanon was based on the drawing I saw on twitter where young Madeleine Cookie disturbed baby Clotted Cream Cookie. In the drawing, Madeleine Cookie was depicted to be a kid and Clotted Cream Cookie being a baby Which means that Madeleine Cookie is older than Clotted Cream Cookie and I just personally find it both cute and hilarious
The bit where I mentioned my cookie run oc... I might reveal it here on tumblr sometime. But not right now.
once again, thank you guys so much for reading these stupid headcanons of mine ahahsdhsd

Art and Life Updates, Future Planning
(will be a bit personal, pardon me!)
I've been resting from drawing (in terms of making 'full art piece') for the past few months if anyone notice? People who followed me on Twitter might also notice how a bit absent I was from drawing full art, or contributing to fandom freely like I used to ><
The truth is, aside from waiting for commission clients, I'm actually have been participating in this zine for months, as I did contribute a piece and another small illust for the cover collaboration!
Beside that, I'm also testing my luck applying jobs left and right IRL. I guess it's been the almost 2 years since I graduated from university, but I barely receive any 'proper' love calls from any companies I've tried to apply to as any position possible. And my mental health has been unstable thanks to this problem as well haha!
I cried a lot, but at the same time...I'm so fast at getting back on track, trying, failing again, and the cycle repeats. It's been like this since June 2022, where my latest contract ends and my full independent freelance gigs starts. For the latest application experiences, I also try to apply for art editor and concept artist position, which requires me for creating new stuffs for its technical test + reason of most of my content absence (sadly again, I didn't pass the evaluation XD)
I did doodle a simple things and sketch anything, both traditionally and digitally, also grow back my love for gaming uwu. I think some (read: those who follows on twitter) already noticed that I've been playing Suikoden series (1, 2, Tierkreis -> with emulator for android) and Cookie Run Kingdom ^q^ Also the classic farming game like Stardew Valley and Graveyard Keeper! It's so fun and refreshing, and makes me less stressful to think about drawing!
But as I receive the latest rejection letter, I've been meaning to share some of my plans that I've considered:
I might gonna share the rejected concept art here, since I love the design so much ^q^ but of course in more refined visdev format!
I also wants to focus on practice, and I may or may not share those things? I'm not sure about other creators but I have this annual 'improvement stuck' moment where I feel like I kept being in comfort zone and trying to find anything I'm lacking and explore it, to test if I'm capable to do that certain new things or not. Be it art technique, hobbies, etc.
I do have a plan to join the hitsuhina week, but I can't promise if I can contribute everyday + in form of full art piece like I used to. It'll be more doodly/sketchy, idk, but I guess what matters is the overall concept that were delivered!
Related with point number 2, as I want to focusing on practice, I also want to revisit older personal projects. I have some OCs that I created during middle school and can't stop thinking about them TwT so I wish to explore their lore back >< which means less fandom content? Who knows.
Re-promote my commission form! I won't change the price for full-color, but I'll add different style options like previous commission that comes with much more cheaper or at least affordable prices for anyone who still wish to get something from me ^^ I'm still going to accept any client, beside job seeking IRL. I mean, I still need some personal income despite still living with my family?
So these are pretty much what I've been planning. Everything may or may not goes according to plan, but it won't hurt to give it a try and let it flow. So I close this post with this mantra:
Best of luck to me!

Heya don't apologize, on the contrary thank you for all the questions !! c: I'll answer them one by one with an English translation ♥
How would Banoffee's sisters react if they found out that their brother was there hiding Affogato and that he had other intentions when he left his clan?
This is a situation that will appear in the next One-Shot I'm going to write…. soon if I'm not too lazy haha .
Let's say that his sisters hate Affogato, so when they'll learn about the trickery, Banoffee will have to deal with 6 screaming creatures. Concerning the other intentions of Affogato, they don't know a word, even Banoffee won't tell them anything when he leaves his clan :)
Next question isn't Cookie Run related so imma cut for a better organization
I would not expected questions about Selene, since it's been a good while that I'm silent about her ♥
Glad you remember her hehe uvu
Here is another doubt but with this one I'm afraid to ask but… what would Lance and Selene do if they discover what Balan did (when Selene died and didn't know what to do)?
With the last thing I half imagine that Lance would hit Balan for the courage and Selene would be in shock but I don't know if it would really happen.
I think you are referring to Ambroise and so the answer is a bit…bloody.
I would say that given the enormity of the thing, Lance would want to kill Balan. Literally kill. I've been thinking about this for a while now, but Selene would be too shocked and stunned to react. Of course she would try to calm Lance down, but she knows how difficult it is to get him back on track. I think it would be at this moment that she would reveal to the 2 Maestros her "Balance" form :)
She would be able to forgive Balan for all this, but not Lance no. Their relationship is completely destroyed after that.
Oh dang I forgot how non-family-friendly my ideas were for a universe like Balan Wonderworld haha-
I hope I answered to your questions well ! c:

why do i feel like even if tae is the one who's injured AND caught between stem koo and senior oc's tension, jungkook would STILL be the one who's crying
Tumblr media
cold senior!y/n x stem major!koo masterlist :D
there's fINALLY some sort of peace and redemption between them
taehyung has never been indirectly involved in a palpable situation like this
the last time he was involved in anything remotely close to this, it had something to do with his field trip in second grade
whew god that was a rEALLY pressuring experience for him
it was a split vote to whether they should go to a strawberry field or a newly-opened futuristic kid-friendly interactive dinosaur museum SLASH theme park!!!!!!!
then taehyung picked the strawberry farm that was about 70% dirt
tae's put into a situation again and he doesn't know how to act lmao
"y'okay sweetheart? what's your relation to them?" the kind nurse that's obviously the maternal figure of the emergency ward asks him as she assesses him, a bit of a queue before he could get his leg patched up
he is beyond glad that she asked :D
tae's here to get his leg casted and entertain himself for the meantime!!! his fun isn't exactly correlated to that brooding fucking stem nerd's definition of it!!!
taehyung points to you directly, a cheeky grin on his face as you tilt your head in alert from your seat beside him
"she's my girlfriend!"
you chuckle at his playfulness and even the nurse does so with how proud he sounded, about to scribble it down on her clipboard when someone clearly sounds panicked about it
"she's not his girlfriend," jungkook rises from his slouched position on his seat, wide eyes fixated on the nurse as he shakes his head, trying to make her believe him
it isn't true!!!! that's misinformation!!! that's a crime!!!!
tae snaps his fingers, solemnly shaking his head
"right, my bad!! the two of us aren't in a relationship. actually, the three-..."
god oW
jungkook can't help but whack the back of taehyung's head, their boundary from being semi-strangers in your year you see like twice a day now crossing into semi-friends who aren't reserved with each other jUST because of kook's smack
that's a silent understanding, basically
tae smacks jungkook right back, only stopping on bickering when you intentionally clang your watch on the bedframe to spook them, exiting from the curtain so you could talk with the nurse
being caught in the middle of things cOULD really be fun!!! tae should get involved more often
"so tHIS is why you were outside y/n's dorm when i gave yoongi the cookies!!"
"... you know?"
kook freezes at the possibility that for some way he can't think of, taehyung somehow knows what happened between the two of you
was that why he just hAPPENED to drop by cookies when he was talking with yoongi??
yeah uhm not really
"no. i just know that yoongi hung you out to dry," he snorts because as he recalls it, jungkook looked as pale as a ghost
he didn't really plan to arrive at that time either!!! taehyung just wanted to knock on your door and hopefully drop you his treats then he'll be off his way
he didn't exactly expect to walk in on yoongi looking like he's gonna deck jungkook if only he hadn't yelled out his senior's name
see? it's like the universe just wants taehyung to be at the right places at the wrong times in order for them to eventually fall into place
okay he kinda did take a major L for having his ankle busted but that only means that you and jungkook (even if he doesn't know anything) better make up!!!
“is it bad that i wanted yoongi to punch me that time?” jungkook wonders out loud and he almost wishes he hadn’t, getting an immediate reaction of agreement
“i’ll fill in for him!!” tae half-jokes, getting yet another smack to his shoulder and at that rate, they’d be brothers by tomorrow lmao
“anyways,” he sighs as he leans back to his pillow, keeping his foot elevated. technically, this isn’t his business at all, but what could he do?? he’s sort-of-involved now and jungkook looks like he’s gonna cry out of all people, “you just want yoongi to deck you because that’d absolve you of your guilt.”
kook sighs at that, gripping his hair to keep himself from crying
“but i already know i’m guilty. not only with yoongi, but y/n especially!!”
he whistles at that, getting a mental image with your fists balled because he’s hung around enough practices to photograph all of you for the school paper, knowing that you dO pack a lot of power
“so them decking you is the only way you would feel guiltless?”
jungkook shifts at that, murmuring his answer to the question he’s got thrown
“w-well getting my apology accepted by them would be much appreciated.”
taehyung practically spoon-feeds the answer jungkook need to hear, shrugging carelessly as he watches the boy’s turmoil
god what does he dO?? this is his first interaction with you ever since the incident and he doesn’t know how to act
of all places and scenarios, it just hAD to be in the hospital because stoopid taehyung here decided to run to you while in the rain
as if on cue do you return to the curtained area with a nurse, forms between your fingers
“time to get your x-ray done, tae,” you almost sing-song to him in cheer, being relieved that things were picking up faster than you intended it to
you pat him on the head in an attempt at affection, oblivious to the curious glances that jungkook gives you while he assists the nurse in transferring taehyung to the wheelchair
it’s not until the curtain closes again and taehyung’s gone that you move, hand outstretched to give something to jungkook
.... which is just his share of taehyung’s forms that he needed to fill out so you could get on faster
the two of you are sitting beside each other, chairs close but not exactly close, clipboard in hand and taehyung’s phone at the middle edge of the hospital bed so you could copy his information
jungkook kNOWS he should be focusing on writing tae’s blood type right now, but the spur of the moment nudges him on entirely
"i'm sorry. i'm so, so sorry."
he squeaks and he has to breathe out after that
well there it goes :-)
you knew that the day wouldn’t have finished without jungkook’s input, having avoided him long enough that you didn’t know what to feel
were you expecting an apology from him??? uhm not exactly
are you commending him for apologizing??? not at all!! thanking someone for apologizing over what they’ve done to you in the first place is just a new low
“i know i can’t take back what i said now, but i truly didn’t mean it. i-i was just so confused but — b-but i’m not making excuses!! what i did was beyond shitty of me.”
oh hold on a second
that’s the first time you heard jungkook cuss
you wring your hands as you try to absorb his apology as much as possible without feeling awkward
ok you’re not as good for tHIS type of confrontation
it’s not the first time you’ve been wronged but this is perhaps the first time someone owned up to their wrong and apologize for it face-to-face
,,,,,, and not just because yoongi gave them a piece of his mind
yoongi likes fighting battles for you at times, even if you don’t necessarily ask him to
you appreciate it, but you kNOW he did not get jungkook off the hook so easily!!!!
you honestly thought that with his temper, he would’ve punched jungkook even if it was gonna make you mad
“it’s totally up to you if you don’t want to forgive me, b-but i figured i could die trying, y’know? you can reject me a couple hundred times and i’ll retry a couple thousand.”
jungkook adds and it makes the corner of your mouth raise in the tiniest most miniscule way
he knows that not only does he need to apologize with words, he also nEEDS to make it up to you with his actions!!! that’s why he plans on-
you pause your writing on the form, the act of you doing so making him freeze all the same as you try to carry on with speaking as inaudible as possible
"well you know now. i like you, that was my fault," you offer in response to his apology, coughing when you realize your mistake. "i liked you, i mean."
ok he deserved that
jungkook knows you probably figured out the hyeji situation already through yoongi, cutting his explanations down because you don’t even wanna hear her name
was it the truth? do you really not like jungkook anymore?
....
......
.........
you simmer in the own silence you’ve created, only being broken when jungkook shyly murmurs
"can't you like me some more?"
you snort at what seemed to be his playful suggestion, chuckling to yourself
jungkook was only hALF-kidding and he bows his head in embarrassment over your reaction, the pen in his hand feeling extremely light with how his hand’s trembling
you resume your writing wordlessly, not even daring to look at your right because jungkook’s trying to make himself as small as possible too
the words are just dying to fall out from his mouth, an unhinged trap he could no longer regulate when it comes to you
"you're loveable. extremely loveable."
jungkook says out of nowhere and you falter at writing taehyung’s supposed food allergies, a quiet curiosity to your words
"how would you know that?"
there’s no thought process behind it as he speaks surely this time, only taking the slightest bit of courage to look at you from the corner of his eye
"because it's you."
,,,,,
HOW are you supposed to react to that,,,
the curtains peek open and a grinning taehyung on a wheelchair estatically waves his hand
you and jungkook split from each other even if you haven’t been that close enough immediately, thankful for the welcome interruption
tae outstretches his arms for you to hoist him up the bed and you agree instantly, oblivious to the fact that he’s sticking his tongue out to jungkook who’s giving him a mean glare for his playfulness
his x-rays are all finished and he’s just waiting for the doc to come and interpret them (even if it’s beyond obvious that his ankle’s broken!!!!) so he could get on with wrapping his leg with a cast
jungkook takes this as a chance to rise up from his seat, snatching the opportunities he can within the timeframe
"what do you guys want from the cafeteria?"
tae beams at that, grateful because fINALLY someone’s asked him
"ooh!! i want-"
"what would you like, y/n?"
jungkook continues as he effectively interrupts taehyung who’s squinting and looks beyond offended ay the moment
his motive is buying <3 you <3 dinner!! not mr. ankle-breaker over here
you catch on to what he’s trying to do immediately, rolling your eyes with a hint of amusement when you plop back to your chair
“i'll have what taehyung wants.”
huh....
so he has no choice then but to ask,.,.,
jungkook clears his throat, his lips curved to a smile but his eyes looking the furthest thing from friendly
"what would you like,,,, taehyung?"
the boy pretend to be deep in thought just to waste kook’s time even more, even throwing in the humming to sell the idea
he’s been humming for half a minute now
“pasta. i want pasta. like, the most expensive pasta they have,” he nods at the amazement he has for himself, sneaking a look to a narrow-eyed jungkook
“c’mon, kook. think about y/n. she’s getting what i’m getting!!”
jungkook’s eyes instantly become brighter, realization sweeping over his features as he tries to hurry because you might be hungry at this point
“right, of course!! i’ll even get dessert :D”
well wasn’t tHAT easy hee-hee
hey maybe getting your ankle busted does lead to better things!!!
jungkook’s never been more excited to pay for overpriced pasta in cash (!!!) and carry up multiple paper bags of food and drinks on the stairs because the elevator’s taking too long
he’s only slightly confused when he walks to your spot that taehyung wasn’t there, even kinda being relieved actually
tae was whisked away for the second and final time to have his leg wrapped up, leaving you and jungkook alone once again
“that looks expensive.”
you remark the moment you see the fancy paper bags, bringing your wallet out to atleast take out a few bills that you think would cover the cost for this hospital dinner
jungkook incessantly shakes his head no, instead making you sit in place so he could turn the area to be a cozy dinner place as best as he could
"i mean it. i'm gonna make it up to you, i swear."
he speaks sometime in the middle of your silent meal, waiting for the time that it’d feel more sincere and not a little forced
ya know he didn’t want to make it seem that buying overpriced dinners correspond to him making it up to you!!!!
"i know."
you answer truthfully because you might have saw this coming, knowing in the back of your head that you wouldn’t put put it past jungkook to be sincere
you hear a noise of surprise when you reply, jungkook immediately putting his hand inside the pocket of his hoodie to fish out something
“your eyedrops, by the way. i meant to give it back to you earlier.”
your eyes skim on the dainty-looking handmade origami box on jungkook’s palm, a fond look he could atleast distinguish
you take it from him nonetheless, unaware at the multiple layers you have yet to know inside said box
“i can always buy a new one.”
he shakes his head at that, scrunching his nose as he mindlessly pokes at the chicken
he thinks back to what he put inside that might’ve been the reason why he didn’t just buy you a new stock in the first place
“i like giving back.”
giving back as in returing feelings too or whatever maybe!!!!! just maybe
he waves you off when you thank him for giving it back, his next words becoming a little weighted on your mind
"open it up when you feel like it. it's up to you."
that was that then
okay maybe not
you’re almost finished with your dinner and you know that you’re about to come home anyway, getting a text from tae that he’s done being wrapped up and is just waiting for his reminders now
why not say what you want to anyway??
"thank you for the lunchbox yesterday, by the way."
jungkook’s the one who’s caught off-guard this time, choking on his rice briefly before questioning you wITHOUT looking pathetic
"h-how did you know it was me??"
your hand only skims to the right of him, having to slightly lean against him to get what you need
it’s tae's record that jungkook had to fill up
you’ve just realized it a little while ago when jungkook was downstairs buying from the cafeteria, the distinct way of how he writes his A’s and curves his Y’s being embedded into your mind
:)
"because it's you."

Hi, I'm not sure if I should add TW, but just in case.
TW:vent. I've been feeling really bad lately, idk why, there's not even a reason, but during like five days the only thing I have eaten are some cookies and milk, I barely get out of bed and I've slept for a day in a row. *End of the tw*
Maybe can I request some comfort for that? Like a oneshot or some headcanons with Sans. I understand if you don't feel comfortable writing it, so, If that is the case, free to just ignore this <3
Of course *hug* I’ve been kinda going through a similar situation myself so I can kind of relate. Just know things will improve soon <3 I hope this helps a bit!
Pairing: Sans x Reader
Warnings: Depression, cussing
You’re awake again.
You wish you weren’t - the thought of being able to just fall asleep on command is enticing. It would make things so much easier, if you could just wake up on command. Much to your dismay, though, that’s not how life works.
A sigh escapes you as the sunlight creeps through your curtains. You don’t know what time it is, or what day it is for that matter. You had grown too focused on your own despair to realize just how distant you had become to others. How long had it been since you talked to someone? Where did you even put your phone at? You don’t remember. The weeks have been dragging by in such a haze that you were gradually shutting more and more people out of your life.
How long have you been sleeping?
Despite being mildly curious about the answer, you make no move to figure it out. It doesn’t matter now – after all, you’ll slip into a haze and forget about it entirely. Again.
And so, you curl back up in your trusty blanket, gradually slipping back into the comforting embrace of sleep.
Someone’s calling your name.
You groan as you open your eyes, immediately becoming aware of a hand on your cheek. You look up to see Sans sitting on the edge of your bed, his phalanges gently rubbing your skin as he gazes down at you softly.
“Sans?” you mutter. “What are you doing here?”
“no one’s heard from you in a while,” he notes, voice calm as he studies you. “we were getting worried.”
“Oh...” you trail off, averting your gaze as guilt starts eating away at you. “I’m sorry. I don’t really know where my phone is.”
Sans doesn’t say anything as he continues rubbing your cheek. “you aren’t taking care of yourself.”
You sigh, frowning. “Yeah, I am-”
“no you aren’t,” he replies, tone firm. “look. i recognize this behavior because i went through it during, well...you know. and i know how miserable it is so i'm not just gonna sit here and let you sleep your life away. come on.”
“Sans, no, I’m really okay-”
“when was your last full, no bullshit meal?” he presses. You remain silent, not remembering. “that’s what i thought. c'mon, sweetie. sit up. i'm taking you out for lunch.”
You sigh, closing your eyes for a moment before nodding and swiping the covers off of your figure. You sit up.
“there’s the first step,” he notes, voice soft as he takes your hands in his. “now, stand up for me?”
You obey, knees a bit wobbly, but you manage.
“good. now, let me get you a bath running,” he says, leading you to your bathroom. You watch in silence as he plugs the drain before turning on the water.
“hop in. i'm going to go grab some stuff while you bathe. and as a warning, the water is going to be a little cold, but trust me when i say that it’ll help you feel better.”
“Okay,” you reply, watching as he closes the door. You strip and test the temperature of the water. He was right – it is cold. You decide to suck it up since you ghosted everyone for however long. You put your foot in, then your other one, and finally, you’re able to sit down completely.
Goosebumps cover your body as you notice that bubbles are forming in the bath. Ooh, fun. You begin washing yourself, realizing just how long it’s been since you’ve taken the time to care for yourself like this.
A few minutes after you’re finished washing, you hear a knock coming from the door. You sink below the bubbles so that only your head is visible.
Sans enters, equipped with a towel and a fresh set of clothes for you.
“all clean?” he questions.
“Yep,” you reply.
“all right. i'll drop these off so you can dry off and get dressed.”
With that, he exits once more, prompting you to stand and rinse off before unplugging the drain and watching as the water level lowers. Once you’re rinsed off, you step out of the tub as you grab the towel. A smile crosses your face as you realize Sans must have put in the dryer for you so that it’d be warm.
Once you’re dry, you throw on the clothes Sans had chosen for you. It’s a comfy outfit that leaves you feeling refreshed as you ball up your old clothes and step out of the bathroom. You toss your dirty clothes where they belong before going downstairs to see Sans waiting for you.
“Thank you for warming up my towel,” you say. “That was really nice of you.”
“no problem. ‘s a trick i stole from tori, heh. works like a charm.”
You nod. “I appreciate it.”
“like i said, ‘s no problem. now, let’s head to grillby’s.”
“Are we teleporting?” you ask as you follow him out of the door.
“no, we’re gonna walk so that way you can get some fresh air and a nice change of scenery.”
“Sounds good.”
With that, the two of you get started on your walk to Grillby’s. You feel alert and refreshed for the first time in a long while, and it’s a nice change. A small smile worms its way onto your lips as you close your eyes, thinking about how much you had missed the feeling of the breeze tousling your hair. Wow. It really has been a while since you’ve come outside.
“how you doing?”
“Better,” you say simply, not opening your eyes.
“’m glad,” he replies. “i remember when i was stuck in the underground during the reset phase, i stopped going outside because i didn’t think there was any point. but i was so grateful when i did, because it reminded me about appreciating the good in life.”
You nod, opening your eyes slowly. “Yeah. I never really noticed...”
“stuff like that gets overlooked when you start feeling down,” he notes. “that’s why you need to take good care of yourself. c'mon, let’s go grab something to eat.”
“I didn’t even realize how hungry I am,” you note as Sans pulls you inside.
"it's ok. just eat a good meal, on my tab," he says with a wink.
You smile, once again grateful for his company as the two of you eat one of the most memorable lunches you've ever had.

So happy together (Spencer Reid / Reader)

Part II
Masterlist
It wasn’t strange that Spencer and (Y/N) spent their free time together when they weren’t on a case. Their job at the BAU left them just a few weekends off, and though they were all day on each other’s faces at work, they loved going out whenever the opportunity arose.
It might have been related to the fact they were best friends.
Also to the fact they were in love, but neither of them had still said a word about it.
Years had passed. Years. Morgan and Penelope were going nuts waiting for them to confess their feelings, but though they had literally pushed them together - once they were “accidentally” locked in a supply closet of the BAU for two hours- nothing had happened yet.
Even Hotch was annoyed. He was happy Spencer had someone he loved around him, but all Aaron wanted to tell him was:
- “You have to act on your feelings before it’s too late, ‘cos you never know what will happen tomorrow, not just in this job, but in life. Take what makes you happy and keep it close”.
Of course, the day he tried to talk to Reid, all Hotch managed to say was: “Tell (Y/N) wheels up in thirty” and that was it, but he was planning on giving the kid a speech about love, as soon as he got a chance.
Then again, when did he have time to do anything besides work?
It was Saturday, and Spencer was taking a calm walk in a park with (Y/N). She had promised Mrs. Sanders from 307B she was going to take Lizzy - her five years old corgi - out to play for a while, ‘cos it was making the old woman insane. Mrs. Sanders was the only neighbor (Y/N) actually talked to…. mostly ‘cos she was never long enough in her house to meet the rest of them. (Y/N) took her dog for walks as often as she could, and the old lady always baked her brownies and cookies for her “and her boyfriend”
- “Your boyfriend is too skinny, take him these and tell him you made them for him, men love when a woman cooks for them”- the old lady smiled and gave (Y/N) a tray with freshly made cookies- “And tell him to cut his hair, he looks scruffy”.
(Y/N) never told her otherwise, a part of her loved the idea of Spencer being her boyfriend…. and besides, it would be rude to break an old woman’s heart. Right?
- “Do you want an ice cream?”- Reid asked her and took her from her thoughts.
- “Yes! I need sugar ‘cos I’m so tired I’m gonna fall asleep standing here”- Lizzy barked at them and left her ball on the ground- “You on the other hand, never get tired, do you?”- the young woman threw the ball.
- “Go fetch, baby!!”
Spencer walked to the ice cream truck and got her a chocolate chip cookie dough cone - he didn’t even need to ask- and a mint chocolate chip for himself. He stared at her playing with Lizzy and for a second, he imagined she was actually his girlfriend, and they were spending their day off together, walking their dog, eating ice cream, holding hands. It was perfect in his mind.
- “Here”- he gave her her cone and smiled. (Y/N) was about to thank him when a stranger’s voice stopped her.
- “Spencer!! long time no see! how are you?”- a man stood next to them, he was maybe five years older than them, tall, good looking, he was carrying a little girl in his arms, and holding a woman’s hand tight. She was pregnant and smiling happily. It was the portrait of a perfect family.
- “Carl, hey, hello, how are you?”- Reid was surprised to see him, it had been years since he had seen his old classmate, and he could have lived a long happy life if he hadn’t seen him again.
Carl wasn’t really nice. He wasn’t mean, or a bully, or anything like that. He was just… an asshole sometimes. He was always bragging about everything he had: grades, cars, girls, anything you might think of. Spencer always thought it was because he needed to be validated over and over again as an alfa male, which wasn’t really his problem. But still, after hearing him for years when he was younger, Reid had enough of him.
- “It’s so weird to find you here, I thought you would still have your nose buried in books like you always did on weekends!”- Carl laughed at his own joke, and Reid just nodded, with an awkward smile.
- “No, I… sometimes I go out now”- that was all he managed to say
- “This is my wife, Andrea, and our little angel, Anna, she is three… and Carl Jr is on his way”
- “Nice to meet you”- Spencer waved and couldn’t even introduce (Y/N), ‘cos Carl continued talking.
- “Can you believe I got married? I always said I was never going to settle down and here I am! with a happy family! you should come and visit us! We just bought this fantastic house outside town, with a big yard and lots of space for the kids to run and play!”
(Y/N) stared at Carl and bit her tongue. She had heard about him a lot in the last few years. Spencer told her all about the classmate who kept telling him about the dates he had with the girls he wanted to ask out. And all the fun he had at the parties he wasn’t invited to. And how he managed to always make him feel smaller, though he didn’t actually mean to. Sometimes people can’t help being assholes.
- “And who is your friend?”- the assumption (Y/N) was his friend and not his girlfriend (although it was actually accurate, that was another problem) made Reid’s blood boil. Why couldn’t he have a pretty girlfriend too?
- “Hi! I’m (Y/N), Spencer’s wife”- she waved and smiled- “Sorry I can’t shake your hand”- she added and showed them the dog toy she was holding, and the ice cream cone.
- “Come here Lizzy! come here!”- the dog sat next to her and (Y/N) pet her sweetly.
- “Wife! man! I never thought you had it in you”- Carl didn’t realize he was an ass, he didn’t mean to, but that didn’t stop him.
Spencer just smiled, and in what seemed to be the boldest move he had ever made, he wrapped an arm around (Y/N)’s waist and moved her a little closer to him.
- “Yes, we’ve been married for two years already”- she added, resting her head against his arm, feeling her stomach tighten. Spencer’s perfume was all around her, and she loved it. Besides, the fact he was now holding her close was killing her. Literally, she could feel she was about to have a heart attack, and it was completely worth it. It took her a few seconds to realize her ice cream was melting in her hands.
- “Shit!”- she jumped and moved from her “husband” to clean herself.
- “Here”- Carl’s wife handed her some baby wipes and looked at her hands for a second- “Did you lose your ring?”- shit, Andrea was nosy and annoying, just like her hubby.
- “I usually won’t wear it playing with the dog, or at work”- lies came out of (Y/N)’s lips as easy as breathing- “You know… we are both FBI, and you don’t know when someone might actually take advantage of any kind of information they have about you”
- “FBI? you?”- Spencer looked at Carl and sighed. Right, he wasn’t done teasing him yet.
- “Yes, I’ve been working at the BAU for the last couple of years, profiling serial killers”- Reid made it sound like it wasn’t a big deal, and (Y/N) decided it was time to brag a little.
- “Honey, don’t be so modest, you are the best profiler, we are the only team with a Doctor in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Engineering”- and Reid blushed- “Besides, you joined the FBI when you were 22 years old”- (Y/N) smiled and looked at Carl- “Did you know he is the youngest SSA the bureau had ever have? there was no psychological exam or test the FBI could put in front of him he could not ace inside of an hour”
Carl looked at Reid and nodded, trying to find something to say.
- “That’s great, I’ve got my own law firm by the way, in case you ever get in trouble”- he joked and looked at (Y/N)- “Or in case you want to divorce him ‘cos he ignores you over books”
- “I could never! did you know he has saved around 352 lives in the last two years? he actually got the FBI Medal for Meritorious Achievement a few months ago… I am so proud”- (Y/N) leaned in and kissed Spencer’s cheek. He looked at her blushing and just smiled.
- “You look adorable”- Andrea finally said- “It’s like you just started dating!”
- “Well, we have to go”- Carl didn’t manage being overshadowed very well- “It was very nice to see you, Spencer”
- “Same! take care, nice to meet you, Andrea”- Reid waved and smiled. (Y/N) did the same and kept eating her ice cream.
- “I hate him”- she whispered as soon as they were far enough not to listen- “I’m so glad we didn’t invite them to our wedding”- Reid laughed and shook his head
- “You didn’t have to do that”
- “Nah, I wanted to”- she really did- “He was being a jerk, just like you told me he was”
- “He doesn’t mean to… I think”
- “Well, he got what he deserved”- (Y/N) felt Spencer’s eyes on her, looking at her in adoration.
- “Thank you, buttercup”- and she giggled
- “You are very welcome, honey bunny…”- and the silence seemed to last for ages until Lizzy started barking.
(Y/N) smiled and looked away from him, knowing she was blushing. She really loved that nickname, and he didn’t call her by it as often as she would like. She grabbed the dog toy from the ground and threw it to Lizzy, who ran immediately.
- “Mrs. Sanders made you cookies”- she said after a few minutes- “But she said I had to tell you I baked them for you, ‘cos that what’s girlfriend’s do to get men’s hearts”- Reid’s cheeks were still red, and those words didn’t make it better- “But considering we are already married, I guess I don’t have to do that anymore”.
They both laughed and then, stayed quiet again. Reid could hear Rossi’s voice yelling in the back of his head “Ask the girl out, for crying out loud”, but he couldn’t even open his mouth, petrified.
(Y/N) finished her ice cream, watching Lizzy playing with other dogs, and sighed. They were standing side by side, both looking ahead.
- “We should head back”
- “Doyouwannagooutwithme?”
The slur of words was so fast, not even Spencer understood what he had just said. But (Y/N) did. She stood next to him feeling her knees shaking, as well as her hands. It had happened. It had finally happened. In her head, she was screaming “YES, OF COURSE I WANT TO”, but her lips weren’t moving, and Reid was starting to panic. Maybe Morgan was wrong, and (Y/N) did like him that way. Maybe he had just ruined the best friendship he had ever had. Shit! what had he done.
- “I mean, I understand if you…”- but she didn’t let him finish
- “Yes, I do”- that was really all she could process. And he didn’t know what to say next. There was no random fact to kill the silence, they would always have a lot to talk about, but that time they were speechless.
- “Tomorrow?”- he managed to whisper
- “Ok”- she nodded as the two of them kept looking at Lizzy
 - “I’ll pick you up for dinner”- Spencer’s voice was so soft he was scared it was going to shake and embarrass him  (he was already embarrassed, but he didn’t want to make it worst).
- “Sounds good”- (Y/N) slowly turned her head and looked at him, nearly holding her breath. Her best friend finally asked her out. The best friend she had been in love with for years had just asked her out on a date. And all she managed to say was:
- “So… do you want a cookie?”
- “Sure…”- he nodded and smiled. (Y/N) called Lizzy and put on her leash. Gave Spencer the paper bag with homemade cookies she carried in her purse and smiled.
.
- “Did you know Christmas cookies date back to Medieval Europe?”- and there it was, Spencer’s random fact of the day, just on time to kill the silence when they were about to reach (Y/N)’s apartment.
- “Really?”
- “Yeah, the traditional Christmas flavors, like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, became very popular, and those are exactly the same spices medieval cooks would have used in their cookies ages ago”
- “I love Christmas cookies”
- “I know”- he smiled and looked at her- You bake them all year long
- “I can’t help it, they are too good”- she giggled and stood outside her building door. They just stared and smiled, Lizzy trying to get (Y/N)’s attention rubbing her head against her leg.
- “I’ll see you tomorrow then”- Spencer blushed at the hint of their date and (Y/N) nodded
- “See you tomorrow”- and neither of them moved. Lizzy barked again and forced (Y/N) to wave and open the door. Spencer just stood there for a second, staring at the empty space in front of him where (Y/N) was standing a few seconds ago, and suddenly, it all sank in.
- “What the fuck did I just do?”

Enemies to Lovers
For Maribat March day 23 theme enemies to lovers
Master List
“Kent’s coming over.” Damian stated at breakfast, none of the other Wayne’s seemed phased by this, none but one.
“Again?” At Damian’s nod she continued, “I’ll be in my room or the Batcave so don’t bring him there.”
"He will also be bringing a friend over from that exchange program his school did with the one in London." Damian added, Marinette tensed a little bit but didn’t say anything else.
"Is Jon bringing a stranger over a good idea?" Tim asked.
"Tt, Kent said that he would make sure the boy wouldn't wander." Damian answered, after 9 years in the manor he still hadn't gotten rid of his tt habit.
"I'll be in my room then, I don't want Jon or his friend bothering me." Marinette announced to no one's surprise.
“Marinette,” She turned to look at Dick, “Why don’t you like Jon? This has been going on for almost a year now. Surely you could give him another chance. Or at the very least his friend?”
“Not interested.” And with that she finished her breakfast and went to go help Alfred with cleaning the dishes, like she did every morning.
Damian watched his younger half blood sister go, frown evident on his face. Marinette Wayne had been living with them for over a year now. While she was now 16, her opinion of one Jonathan Kent still had not changed.
After Bruce had a one night stand with her mother she had been born 9 months later, Sabine having no intention of telling Bruce. What she did not expect was that 15 years later she and her husband would be guilty of negligence and emotional abuse of Marinette and custody would be handed to her bio father. Aka Bruce Wayne.
Marinette changed her last name to Wayne and left her life in Paris behind. There was not much left for her there anyways. But she had never told her new family why she was so insistent on leaving Paris behind. More specifically who she was leaving behind.
The Waynes had gotten used to her bubbly personality in the manor, so they were shocked that when they sent her off to Gotham Academy she was dubbed the ‘Ice Princess’ the next morning.
Turns out after what happened in Paris, she refused to open up to anyone. Most days she was found sketching in her sketchbook, always alone. She still got straight A’s and even participated in a few clubs but never made one friend. It was concerning, how much she resembled Damian in that sense.
One day after patrol, after Marinette headed off to bed they started discussing Marinette's social life. Tim had joked that since she's such a ray of sunshine around them that she should meet Jon.
This idea was met with positive reactions, all of them agreeing that Jon would be a good influence for her. He was also her age so that was a plus. And he was Damian's first friend, perhaps he could be Marinette's.
That weekend they were proven wrong. Very wrong. Marinette refused to be in the same room as Jon, and when trying to gently push the boundaries she had set, she grew hostile. Something they had never seen from her for as long as they had known her.
One of their first thoughts was that she was scared of Jon, since he was half Kryptontian. But that idea was quickly shut down after Jason brought up the time she roasted Superman to his face. And had no regrets.
Then they figured it was because he was still a stranger to her. So they had him over more often. But after 2 months they realized that wasn’t the case either. Yet, none of them had the slightest clue why she was so against Jonathon Kent.
Not even Jon knew. All Jon knew was that whenever he walked into the same room as Marinette she grew annoyed. He knew she disliked him but that wasn’t what he was confused about. What made him confused was that he could sense her fear. She was scared of him, and he had no idea why.
He thought about telling the Batfamily, thought about telling Damian, but how would it go over that the latest addition to the Batclan was scared of him. Especially knowing how paranoid and protective they could be. So he just stuck to avoiding her at all costs, it wasn’t that big of a deal anyways.
Marinette didn’t see Jon as an enemy per se she saw him as an enemy, but he was just someone she strongly disliked, she had her reasons. And while Jon definitely didn’t see Marinette as an enemy, the more she ignored him, and he would need to ignore her, started to grate on his nerves. If she was in a room that he was going to enter he would have to wait for her to leave and vice versa. It was getting tiring and he was starting to dislike her more and more to the point she almost became his enemy.
Today would be no different except for one detail. That detail being a blonde haired, green eyed, sunshine child that reminded Jon of himself. While Adrien was a little too naive for his taste, they had gotten along great and he wanted to introduce him to Damian.
Adrien had seemed intrigued by the idea of meeting a Wayne. Apparently his father used to be a businessman and despite the fact he was from France and only moved to London a year ago, he knew of how famous the Waynes are.
Now here they were, in his dad’s car going to Wayne manor.
“Okay, you remember what I told you right?” Jon questioned Adrien, he was making sure the boy was prepared and didn’t accidentally stumble upon the Batcave or anything relating the Waynes to the Bats.
“Yes I know, no wandering around the manor, it’s too big and I’ll get lost. No staring in awe at the Waynes, they’re not the celebrities the press makes them out to be. And if I see a girl with dark hair, blue eyes, and looks to be a head shorter than me, I am to walk away immediately in the other direction and pretend I didn’t see her.” Adrien listed off.
“Perfect!” Jon, exclaimed he was going to add more but his dad interrupted him.
“Okay boys we’re here, I hope you have a good time Adrien.”
“Thanks Mr. Kent, I will!” Adrien cheerfully replied as he followed Jon out of the car. Sometimes this boy reminded Jon too much of himself.
“Master Jon, lovely to see you again. Is this your friend?” Alfred greeted them at the door.
“Yep! This is Adrien Graham de Vanily, Adrien this is Alfred, the Waynes butler but is more like a surrogate grandfather if anything.” Jon introduced.
“Nice to meet you Mr. Alfred.” Adrien stuck out his hand to shake.
“It is nice to meet you too Master Graham de Vanily, please just call me Alfred.”
“Then you can just call me Adrien, Alfred, my last name is such a mouthful.”
“Of course Master Adrien, now will you two be staying for dinner?”
“I don’t know, is it okay if we do?” Jon answered, secretly asking if she would be okay with it.
“It’ll be okay Master Jon. I will inform the others we will be having two guests stay with us for dinner.” Alfred led them inside, “Master Damian should be in the gaming room.” And with that he left.
“Come on, Damian is probably setting up some games for us to play.” Jon grabbed Adrien’s hand and started dragging him down a hallway.
Marinette could hear when Alfred had opened the door for Jon and his friend, she didn’t have super hearing but she had trained her ears for listening for certain things. Like the front door opening.
After a few minutes Alfred had come to tell her the two would be staying for dinner. It wasn’t ideal but she could live with it, all she had to do was give Jon and his friend the cold shoulder for at most an hour. Nothing new to her.
Now a whole hour had passed and she was getting hungry. She still had another hour till dinner so a small snack would be fine. But leaving her room posed the risk of running into Jon or his friend, and she didn’t want to risk an interaction with either of them.
Both of them are with Damian right now. There are no bathrooms near her room or the kitchen. If she hurries it will only take her 10 minutes to get to the kitchen, grab the cookies she made earlier, and come back to her room. And since Damian was banned from the kitchen this week, and both of his new friends are stuck with him, they shouldn’t be anywhere near the kitchen.
Of course when was the universe ever on her side. She was about to open the kitchen door when someone she thought she would never have to see again uttered her name, “Marinette?”
She knew the voice. It was the same voice that told her to stay quiet all those years ago when a vicious liar ran her mouth. The same one that said he was on her side then abandoned her the second things got too tough for him. The same one that didn’t speak up whenever she tried to defend herself, instead saying not to rock the boat. And now the owner of that voice was in her home.
She steeled her face into something cold and emotionless, despite the fear she felt in her stomach and turned to face him, “Agreste.”
“It’s Graham de Vanily now.” He corrected, both forgetting/not noticing the two other people there.
“Pretty sure it’s Agreste, you know, just like your father.” She bit back, venom laced into every word.
“He’s not my father, not anymore.” He replied, fists clenched at his sides, staring her straight in the eyes, confusing the other two boys.
“You sure, because you’re exactly like him, you know.” She raised an eyebrow and matched his gaze.
“I am nothing like him.” Adrien took a threatening step forward and that’s when Damian immediately stepped in front of Marinette, wanting to protect his little sister from this person who just threatened her. Damian was about to ask something but was cut off when Marinette moved around him to face Adrien.
“Really? Both of you put your own wants and desires above the well being of other people. Your father the people of Paris, and for you it was me.” Jon saw she was visibly shaking, from fear or anger he wasn’t sure. Both emotions were pretty strong for her, and when he focused on Adrien all the boy felt was guilt.
“Look Mari I’m-” He was cut off by Marinette’s angry shout.
“You would think that after all you put me through you would at least have the dignity to not call me by a nickname that friends are only allowed to call me. You know, people who actually care about me!”
“Marinette, I’m sorry okay, that was really dumb of me!” Adrien shouted back.
“Save it! You can pretend to regret your actions all you want, but people like you don’t change! That’s something you taught me!” Snack forgotten, Marinette ran back to her room and slammed the door. Locking it, she slid down the back of it and just cried.
“You’ve got a lot of explaining to do Graham de Vanily. How do you know my little sister? Why did she react to you like that? What did she mean by ‘all you put her though?’...” As Damian kept spitting out question after question Jon followed Marinette. Her cries were the only thing he could hear right then and there.
As he made his way closer to her, the cries stopped, only tiny sniffles coming out. “What do you want Kent?” He could hear the shaking in her voice no matter how much she tried to cover it up.
He sat down, his back resting on the closed door thinking about what he should say. “I wanted to see if you were okay.”
“I find that hard to believe. You wanted answers didn’t you?” She hiccuped in between words.
“A little bit.”
“Well once upon a time there was a teenage girl who wore rose colored glasses all the time. She saw the world in rainbows and sunshine, never knowing of the darkness. Then one day a lying fox came into her life, spreading her tall tales. The girl tried to warn her friends and family but they didn’t listen. The fox ripped off the girl’s glasses and forced her to see the world for what it really was. The girl’s love at the time came to her and told her to keep silent, after all the fox’s lies weren’t hurting anyone. It was then she noticed that the boy wore the same glasses she did, only his were much stronger than hers had ever been. But she loved him, so she believed him, that everything would turn out okay, that if it didn’t he would be by her side.
Slowly those around the girl turned on her, despite her doing nothing wrong. The boy who she once loved left her the second things got tough, never letting her stand up for herself. Soon the lying fox had gotten to her parents, things escalated from there. Now the girl moved to live with her bio family and everything was fine for a time. But then a boy who saw the world in sunshine and rainbows came around, and she was reminded of her past all over again.” Marinette finished her tale, her hiccups had faded away.
“You don’t like me because I remind you of Adrien?” He hesitantly asked.
“You don’t just remind me of him. Every time I see you I see him. But you’re also different from him. I don’t know. When you’re all happy and optimistic you're like him, but you also know how to be serious, which is something he could never do. I don’t know how to explain it but I thought if I kept you away from it would be alright. I really messed up didn’t I?” Marinette tried to keep the tears in her eyes from falling.
“Kind of. But if you want we can start over.” Jon suggested, he wouldn’t mind getting to know the Marinette Damian talked so fondly about, not that Damian would ever admit it.
He heard the lock unlock and he stood up as the door opened. He turned around and there was Marinette, her eyes were a little red and she had tears stains on her cheeks but she looked much better than before.
She stuck her hand out, “Hi, nice to meet you, I’m Marinette Wayne.” She looked up to look in his eyes and wondered if they were always so blue. And oh god please say she didn’t start blushing!
“Nice to meet you Marinette. I’m Jonathan Kent, but you can call me Jon.” Jon took her hand and shook it, his eyes looked into hers and he couldn’t help but think they looked so beautiful when they weren’t glaring at him. Unfortunately, Damian’s scream broke them out of their daze.
“ANSWER ME!!!”
“We better go help him.” Marinette pulled her hand back.
“Yeah we probably should.” Jon replied but Marinette was already racing to where they left the boys. Jon ran to catch up with her, mentally berating himself for thinking his friend’s sister was cute.
Marinette on the other hand was mentally berating herself for thinking that someone she used to dislike so much was now cute. Not to mention he’s her brother’s best friend. Well, Damian doesn’t have to know she thinks that.

‘Hope is the thing with Feathers’ by KatyaMorrigan
For the Grishaverse Reverse Mini-Bang 2021, run by @grishaversebigbang, and with stunning art created by @wqemzz-blog - click here for her incredible illustration of Kaz and Inej!
Captain Inej Ghafa has returned to Ketterdam for the first time in three years. In all that time, The Wraith never docked at Berth 22 for more than an afternoon, and the crew never strayed further than the harbour front.
Could she have stopped by sooner? Absolutely. Did she choose not to for entirely business-related reasons? Absolutely not. She has no idea what her friends will make of seeing her again after so long, least of all Kaz. But there is hope - hope that in that time, he will have grown as much as she has. That he will be the kind of person that she can share a pot of tea with without a thought of how he might feel about her.
Because Inej isn't done with being a pirate yet. But it doesn't mean she wants to be at sea forever.
I had the best time getting to write this fic based on the idea proposed by Emma. So much of a good time, in fact, that I overwrote it by around 4k words in the end... This is the much more civilised 2k word version - the full iteration of the story is on my AO3 ), but this significantly neater version will remain on my Tumblr for good. I really hope that you like it, and check out @wqemzz-blog for all your beautiful art needs!

And available to read below the cut here:
‘Hope is the thing with Feathers’
It occurred to Inej as she entered Kaz’s office for the first time in three years, that in the past she might have second-guessed the meaning of his offer to have tea together. They had just spent a few hours talking during dinner – mostly talking over Jesper and Wylan, who had hosted the meal and were either polite or forgiving enough to allow them to dominate the conversation with reflections on Inej’s time beyond Ketterdam. Three years was a long time when you had last been teenagers breaking into the Ice Court together, when you were now the owner of a galleon that hunted slaver ships from Fjerda to the Wandering Isle. There was plenty to discuss between them, and it seemed that Kaz had changed enough to ask her to stay with no apprehension, so that they could be in each other’s company a little while longer.
The attic room was identical to her memories of it but her gaze was drawn to Kaz, with ungloved hands, stooping to open the cupboard and bring out two tins. With a tentative look at her, he placed them on the desk and opened them. Inej couldn’t help laughing.
“When did Dirtyhands start keeping cookies in his office?” she teased. “Two kinds, as well.”
He gave a permissive smile. “Nina may have had more influence over me than I would like to admit. She sends them to me from Ravka.”
Feeling a bittersweet rush of longing for her friend, Inej reached over and helped herself to an iced biscuit with a red star on the top as Kaz took the other tin and started to make them tea. The room filled with the smell, quiet clinking noises coming from the cupboard again as Kaz fetched cups and saucers, and Inej watched him from the corner of her eye as she nibbled. He had taken off his jacket, and Inej could see the strong line of his shoulders as he prepared their drinks. Yes, a younger version of herself would have been much more flustered than Captain Ghafa, as she was now. She might have told herself stories about how invested Kaz was, about his tactics and techniques for making her trust him – for making her want to stay. Now she had no such worries. She was in the bedroom of an old friend – an old partner, in many ways – and they were sharing a pot of tea.
Inej smiled as she turned away from sneaking glances at Kaz and looked out of the window instead, at the uncharacteristically beautiful light that was shining in. The fog of the early afternoon had lifted, and Ketterdam seemed to concentrate every scrap of colour on painting the evening sky in crimson and gold. It felt like a personal display from the city, like it was finally welcoming her in. She couldn’t believe that she had been away for so long.
“Can I open the window?” she asked. Kaz chuckled.
“You have never once asked my permission to open a window.” Kaz brought over their cups and placed them on the sill, where Inej was now sitting, and obligingly opened it for her.
A gentle breeze entered the room, tickling Inej’s cheek. She closed her eyes for a second and forgot that she had ever been away. The sensation of being here – in Kaz’s office, on the windowsill, letting the fading sunlight warm her skin – made her feel so young and so old at the same time. It was like slipping into an outfit she hadn’t worn in years, feeling the ways it had always fit her, and the ways that she had grown since. Inej was nothing like the girl that Kaz had once known, but she didn’t feel so different when she was back here, just a little taller and a little more forgiving.
Kaz brought over a plate with more cookies, taking a large one heavily studded with chocolate, and leaned against the wall. It had been three years, but still they were so comfortable existing in a space like this together, breathing in the warm air. She took a sip of her tea, and tasted honey. Just the way she had always liked it.
“You look well,” he said, not breaking the silence but disrupting it, like ripples on a pond. “The sea suits you.”
“Thank you. I rather like it too. Ketterdam has continued to suit you – is that a new scar on your jaw, or have I just never noticed it?”
“It’s new. About a year ago I was very nearly shot in the face by a Razorgull. Fortunately Jesper manipulated the bullet at the last second and I was only burnt.”
She inhaled sharply in sympathy, and Kaz shrugged. “It healed quickly, and that’s all I ask for.”
“Do you ever think you’ll end up more scar than skin?” she said, half in jest and half with sincerity. As the words left her mouth, she thought of how closely her question came to the kind of Suli proverb that she had goaded him with previously. That she had tested him with.
“Not anymore.”
His reply was unexpectedly thoughtful. Inej turned to him, and he gave a soft smile.
“The Dregs don’t get caught up in the same trouble that they used to. There’s less chance for me to get hurt.”
“I’m glad.”
She took a cookie, a chocolate one like Kaz’s, and bit into it. It crumbled instantly, scattering crumbs all down her chin and the front of her waistcoat. Kaz saw; there was a beat of silence and then laughter, Inej’s giggles muffled by the cookie.
“You pirates make our manners look sophisticated,” he commented. She swatted the air in front of him.
“My manners haven’t suffered at all, I’ll have you know!”
“My poor windowsill. I’ll have to clean it now.”
“It could probably do with a clean if you’re anything like you used to be,” she replied, and Kaz raised an eyebrow at her.
“I always cleaned the windows frequently.”
“Specifically the windows.”
He tilted his shoulder and looked out across the city. The gilded roofs stretched from the harbour all the way to the Barrel. Inej watched him as he absorbed it all, taking a sip of tea, adjusting the cup in his bare hands. He looked exactly the way she had hoped to find him – a little stronger, a little harsher, that new scar dimpling the line of his jaw like a tally on a gun barrel, but unmistakeably the same Kaz that she had left behind. He looked every bit the young man that he was – handsome, clever, mean.
“You loved to sit here and look out. I always made sure you’d be able to.”
“Oh.”
She was glad he kept looking at the view. To lock eyes with him then might have done something to her – made her feel another way. A way she had felt for a long time, that she had stifled. Inej focused her gaze on the broken pieces of cookie in her hand, crumbling it more. Everything felt quietly loud; gentle, but unrelenting.
The familiar click of claws on tiles came from a little further along the roof.
Kaz leaned towards the sound. “They must have recognised you,” he smiled, “The crows have come back.”
Inej made an elated noise and turned herself to look. There they were – a little murder of crows, with sharp eyes and sharp beaks, cawing as politely as crows could.
“I can’t believe it,” she murmured.
“They stopped visiting when you left. They knew you were here.”
“No,” she said, delighted but disbelieving. He nodded.
Inej watched them move, alert and intelligent, talking to her. She remembered Kaz’s decrial of them as mannerless and untrustworthy, but when she scooped up some cookie crumbs and held them out, they arranged themselves neatly to feed from her hand. Her hands were rough now from the years of sailor’s work, but she could still feel the smoothness of their beaks as they pecked and the trace of their feathers on her fingers.
“I missed them too.”
Kaz took another sip. “Were seagulls not friendly enough?”
She laughed. “They were friendly in their own way – they certainly ate up scraps quite well. But I couldn’t feed them like this. They didn’t wait for me like the crows always did.”
“They were always looking for you to come back.” His voice was as gravelly as ever, but Inej felt a hint of longing as he spoke. With the last of the crumbs gone, she brushed off her hands and turned back towards the room, to look at him. The expression he wore was the one that she remembered most vividly, and with the least joy; that inscrutable intensity that made her feel transparent. He was looking inside of her, and she struggled to translate what he had seen from the look he was giving her.
“Do you ever wish you had stayed here instead?” Kaz asked.
Ah. The question that she had expected to be met with – it had been avoided all evening while they were with Jesper and Wylan, but now it emerged while they were alone. It was a question that she knew the answer for. Whether it was the one he wanted or not, it was the one he would get.
“No. I love being on the sea. I love having a purpose that I can enact so clearly. Everything I told you over dinner was true – it has its challenges, but I wouldn’t have done anything differently.”
Kaz nodded, and she saw pride lock into his eyes.
“You’ve become somewhat of a legend to the sailors who come to Ketterdam now,” he said, a grin building. “Men who arrive shaken by what they saw at a distance – of a pirate queen in blue and gold invading slaver ships and leaving them to die. It has certainly damaged West Stave.”
She touched her earring. “It has?”
“Of course. The bulk of working girls in any of the brothels are stolen, and with so few slaver boats succeeding in bringing any ashore…”
Inej grinned back. Her only hope when she finally decided to leave Ketterdam had been to bring justice to those children like her, but to know that her efforts were ruining trafficking from the ground up… It was almost too much. Her face hurt from smiling, and Kaz turned away from her to look out of the window again.
“How long are you staying here for?” he asked.
Another question. So much easier.
“Two weeks. My crew have been given leave in that time, but I’m hoping that they will all want to sign on for the next stint.”
“And you?”
“I have given myself leave, yes, Kaz,” she chuckled. Kaz huffed self-consciously. “I’ll be around, is what I mean. If you wanted to have tea again some time.”
“Yes.”
Their eyes met, and she was a teenager again. Inej hadn’t thought about Kaz in that way for a long time. Hadn’t allowed herself to. She knew that the moment in which she let the thought of anything tender and vulnerable growing between them take root in her mind again was the moment in which she would have to rethink her answer to that tricky question. But Saints, it had always been hard not to.
“I can tell stories about Captain Ghafa while you’re gone, if you’d like.” Kaz’s smile was sharp. “Make sure that everyone in Ketterdam knows the name and fears it.”
Her heart betrayed her so, so quietly.
“You don’t need to,” she said.
“Why’s that, Inej?”
Three years of never letting herself near him, just in case the possibility of a dual life came back into play. Three years in which she only regretted one thing.
“I’ll be back again before too long.”

An idea that has been in my head for the past few months (ever since I saw Croissant in the Mahem story) are two stories, one that revolves around Croissant and one that revolves around Timekeeper.
Croissant Cookie's Story (in a nutshell):
So Strawberry Crepe is working in their lab when they hear a large crash. They make sure their bots are ok before realizing it came from outside. After a bit of exploring they find a crashed vehicle that didn't look like anything they'd seen before.
Strawberry Crepe investigated it and realized there was a cookie inside, unconscious. They summoned their bots to take care of the cookie and continued to inspect the vehicle and realized it was some sort of aircraft.
A bit later the cookie finally woke up, frantic. She said her name was Croissant Cookie and that she was a pilot. She thanked Strawberry Crepe for helping her before trying to leave, but nothing happened. She realized the engine was busted and she didn't have the materials needed to get the ship up and running again. Strawberry Crepe offers to help and Croissant reluctantly agrees.
After a bit they finish and Croissant goes on her way. Strawberry Crepe goes back to their lab and finds a small present addressed with the letters TK on their desk. Inside there is a few clocks and a winding key made from a material they'd never seen before.
Timekeeper Cookie's Story (in a nutshell):
Gingerbrave wakes up sitting in a chair in a big office that was pretty much empty besides a desk and a huge portal looking thing on the back wall. Before he could get up he hears someone say "you're up, good!" And a strange person appears from nowhere, smiling.
Gingerbrave asks the Smiling Stranger who they were, where he is, and why he was there. The Stranger says they are the Director, that he was in the TBD Head Office, and that they had a job for him. Gingerbrave asked what it was and the Director said they had a very important employee that went missing, and that he had the highest probability of helping without telling anyone else. The Director finally asked if he wanted to help and he agreed.
The Director told Gingerbrave that they were looking for a specific timecraft that was traced through a few timelines. Then, before he could react, they gave him goggles and took him between time. After searching through a few timelines with nothing found they found Gingerbrave's own timeline and began to search.
After a while of searching they found that the timecraft had crashed. The Director just stared, nobody was near the craft and the place it crashed looked abandoned. Gingerbrave looked at the Director and realized they weren't smiling anymore, they were deep in thought. He looked around and realized he knew where this was, someone did live here, someone who could help. And then right on cue, they arrived at the site, Strawberry Crepe Cookie.
When the Director saw that someone actually could help they snapped out of it and went back to their normal smiley self. Gingerbrave said that they would help and the Director said that they thought Gingerbrave's work was over and they returned to the office.
The Director thanked Gingerbrave, gave him an envelope, and sent him back to his timeline. Inside the envelope was a letter, a promise, that said that the TBD was in that timeline's debt and that they would put extra care into future timeline related problems that may occur. Is was signed by Timekeeper Cookie, Director of the TBD.
Note: the reason why TK stared blankly at the crash was because they made a deal with Croissant to not mess with her fate beyond Timeguard and TK agreed, they were considering whether or not they should step in and help (technically breaking their agreement) or let Croissant, the only thing keeping them from going berserk, possibly die

Office Neighbors - Part Six
a/n: here we are, and it certainly won’t be over after this! didn’t have time to proof read sorry, hope you enjoy! (reblogs and feedback are super helpful!)
warnings: fluff, smut, minor character death

The semester was in full swing, and you were counting down the days until Thanksgiving break. It was time you could dedicate to grading, and your brother always cooked this gourmet meal for your family, so all in all, you were just ready to for the little time away. You just needed to get through another two weeks.
It was also time off for Harry. Andy always spent his Thanksgiving break with Paige since Harry got him for Christmas in London. Typically, you ate at Harry’s house for dinner twice a week, and then when Andy was at Paige’s for a weekend, Harry would either sleep at your place, or you would sleep at his. Sometimes you would go to the library together to work. He really helped you find a work-life balance. Now, Harry usually went to Lisa’s for Thanksgiving, but he wasn’t sure if those plans were set to change. He was sort of hoping to go to Boston with you, but he didn’t want to invite himself.
“I think you should just ask her.” Andy says as he helps Harry set the table.
“I don’t want to impose, it’s rude.”
“But you’re her boyfriend, she should want you to spend Thanksgiving with her.”
“It’s a bit more complicated than that.”
“You say that all the time.” He rolls his eyes.
“It is! It’s not just her and I having dinner, I’d be meeting her whole family, that’s a big deal.”
“Why?”
“Because…well…it’s one thing for her to like me, but I’d want her family to like me too.”
“Dad, literally who has ever met you ever likes you. Even Noah’s parents like you.”
“Thanks.” Harry chuckles. The doorbell rings and he smiles. “Go open that for her, will you?”
Andy races over to the door, and opens it for you.
“Hi, Y/N.” He smiles.
“Hi, Andy, how was school?” You smile as you come in and kick your boots off. “Getting cold out there.” You shiver as you take your jacket off.
“School was good.” He shrugs. “My health class just started and it’s really awkward.”
“Oh, I bet.” You walk in with him and the dessert your brought. “I brought cookies, couldn’t help myself.” You say to Harry, kissing his cheek.
“Thank you.” He smiles and takes it to put on the counter. “We’re having chili tonight, thought it would be nice for a cold evening.”
“Definitely, it smells amazing.”
Everyone makes a bowl, and adds what they want. After chatting about something funny one of Harry’s students says, Andy jumps into the conversation.
“Man, I cannot wait for Thanksgiving break. I know it’s only a few days, but I can’t wait.”
Harry slowly turns his head to look at his son, knowing exactly what he was doing.
“Yeah? You go to your mom’s right?” You say.
“Mhm, my grandparents and aunt come, and so does Noah’s family. It’s actually pretty fun. My mum and aunt cook everything together. What do you usually do for Thanksgiving, Y/N?”
“Well, when I was growing up we always hosted at my parent’s house, but my brother tends to host now since he’s the one that does that cooking.”
“He’s a chef, right?”
“A sous chef, but yeah.” You smile. “Although, he doesn’t cook everything. I tend to make the more Jewish dishes, and then he makes the more traditional Thanksgiving things.”
“Noah’s mum makes a brisket, do you guys have that too?”
“Mhm! My brother makes it, although I don’t eat it anymore.” You shrug and take another bite of the chili.
“Dad goes to Auntie Lisa’s.”
“Oh, you do?”
“Yeah…”
“That must be so much fun! Her husband is such a good cook. At the last game night there he made this spinach puff things, and I think I ate the whole tray.” You laugh.
“It’s usually a good time, yeah.”
“I’m surprised you don’t do Thanksgiving at Paige’s.”
“Nah, we tend to keep holidays separate. Her family doesn’t really understand the co-parenting.”
“Gram and Gramp are kind of snooty.” Andy says. “I love them, but I usually cap the convo at five minutes, and then I find an excuse to walk away.”
You burst out laughing and so does Harry, and Andy ends up laughing too. After dinner, and the cookies, Andy goes off to start his homework, which leaves you and Harry to clean up in the kitchen.
“He’s a lot like you, you know? He’s very smooth.”
“What do you mean?”
“Bringing up what we all do for Thanksgiving, almost seemed like he was hinting at something.” You smirk. “It’s cute you talk to him about me, honestly.”
“What…I wasn’t-“
“Did you really think I wasn’t going to invite you?”
“I…well, it’s a couple of weeks away and you haven’t mentioned it, so I just figured you weren’t ready for me to meet your family.” He runs a hand through his hair.
“I was going to run it by you tomorrow…I took me a minute to work up the courage to tell my family I was going to invite you, I’m sorry.”
“No! It’s okay, so, you want me to come?”
“I do, would you?”
“Yes.” He puts his hands on your hips and kisses you. “I’d love to.”
“Great!” You wrap your arms around his neck. “I was thinking we could drive down Thursday, and then spend the night at a hotel in the city, and then Friday we could, like, do a ton of touristy Boston things before driving back up.”
“That sounds amazing. Um, let me pay for the hotel though.”
“Oh, please.” You scoff.
“Come on, it’s gonna be really expensive because of the holiday.”
“Julian, Phil’s partner, manages a hotel in the city, he said he could cut me a deal. It’s really no problem.”
“Oh…well, alright then.” He smiles. “I’m excited.”
“Me too.”
“Do you think they’ll like me?”
“I think so, yeah, but I have to warn you…when I first told you about them they had a lot of concern that I was getting involved with someone who has a kid, so they may ask a lot of personal questions. I told them not to, but they tend not to listen to me.”
“Guess it sort of comes with the territory. Nothing I can’t handle.”
You kiss goodbye before you leave, and Harry nearly squeals. He goes down to Andy’s room.
“Guess who got invited to Thanksgiving?”
“Are you serious?!” Andy stands up and gives Harry a high five. “That’s great! You should bake a pumpkin pie, you make the best pumpkin pie.”
“I do, don’t I?” He smirks. “I’ll ask her what I can bring. We’re gonna be going over night together, wow.”
“Is it that big of a deal? You have sleepovers all the time.”
“Andy…”
“I’m not stupid, Dad, she leaves…girly things here.”
“Okay, so we have sleepovers a lot, but going away with someone overnight is, like, next level.”
“You went camping together before you were even together, and then you went to that conference.”
“We didn’t share a room at the conference. It’s…it’s just different, okay? A good different. It’s gonna be great.”
“How come she doesn’t stay over when I’m here?”
“We haven’t really been together long enough for that. I don’t think she really feels comfortable just yet.”
“Why? You’re just sleeping.”
“Right…”
Andy gives Harry a weird look, and then his eyes widen.
“Oh, Jesus, Dad, don’t be gross!”
“I didn’t say anything!”
“You’re so annoying, get out!”
Harry puts his hands up in defense and walks away. He really didn’t mean anything by his response, but Andy was smart, and sex was still an awkward topic. He wouldn’t even watch a movie with Harry now if there was a kissing scene in it. Things were okay with Brandon, and that was all Harry cared about. He was sort of hoping health class would help.
//
Andy had a half day at school on Wednesday, so Harry had to pick him up and bring him back to the university. When he was picking him up he noticed him saying goodbye to Brandon. They were hugging…for a while.
“See you Monday, have fun at your mom’s.” Brandon smiles as he lets go of Andy.
“Thanks, have a good time in Connecticut.”
“Text me if you need me…I know it’s a lot for you over there for so long.”
“I will, I’ll probably need to call you Thursday night.”
“Works for me, it’ll give me an excuse to get away from cousins. I really don’t feel like staying up to play Barbie’s with them.” He rolls his eyes.
“You’re the best.” He looks over and sees Harry’s car. “My dad’s here…bye.”
“Bye.”
They hug one more time and then Andy walks over to Harry’s car, getting in the back seat.
“Hey, how was the half day.”
“Good.” Andy shrugs. “We just ate food and watched a movie.”
“Are you still hungry? I brought some extra snacks to my office this morning.”
“Yeah, I’m hungry. Did you bring anything good?”
“Cheese sticks and grapes.”
“Guess that’s fine.”
“You’re gonna eat a lot of junk this weekend, couldn’t letcha eat a bad snack with me before Mum comes to get you.”
When Harry gets back to his office with Andy, he sees you laughing with Andre. Now, Harry knew he had nothing to worry about with Andre, but he was definitely curious to see what was so funny.
“Hi, Y/N!” Andy says, hugging you.
“Oh! Hi, Andy.” You smile and hug him back.
“What’s so funny?” Harry asks coolly.
“Oh, Y/N was just pointing out how students just skip class all week to beat the traffic, but we don’t have that luxury.”
“I mean, I know all classes after three are cancelled, so we can sort of leave early, but come on. At least let me know you’re not gonna be there.” You say. “Whatever, just need to teach one more class.”
“Can I go?” Andy asks.
“Andy…Y/N’s teaching a class about rhetoric, it’s a little high level for you.”
“I don’t have any homework or anything to do, and I don’t feel like just sitting around.”
“He can come if he wants.” You shrug. “Gotta go now though.”
“Okay!” Andy runs into Harry’s office to grab his snack and then joins you.
“He really likes her, huh?” Andre says to Harry.
“Yeah, he does.”
//
What you were talking about in class was way over Andy’s head, but what he did understand was when you put an episode of The Office. You wanted to show different persuasion tactics used while making a sale, and you thought it would be relatable for the students. Andy thought you were the coolest person in the world for showing it.
“Alright, I hope you all have a great few days off, I’ll see you Monday.” You say at the end of class. Andy gets up from the back of the class and comes towards you. “So, what did you think?”
“I liked the part where you put on The Office.” He giggles.
“I thought so.”
“I didn’t understand a word you said, but I sort of got some of it when you put the show on. It’s sort of cool how, like, a sow you could watch just for fun could have a deeper meaning.”
“It’s very cool.” You smile and walk with him back down to Harry’s office.
You stop short when you see Paige sitting on the edge of his desk.
“Mum?”
“Hi, honey! I came to surprise you. I had a half day today too.” She smiles and hugs him. “Hi, Y/N.”
“Hi, how are you?”
“I’m good, thanks. Dad already helped me put your things in my car, so we’re good to go.”
“Oh…alright.” Andy gives Harry a hug goodbye. “Have in Boston.”
“Thanks, buddy.” Harry stands up and puts his hands in his pockets.
“Boston?” Paige raises an eyebrow with a smile.
“He’s coming home with me.” You say.
“That’s great! Well, safe travels.”
“Bye, Y/N.” Andy hugs you and out the door they go.
“Did you know she was coming here to get him?”
“No, she texted me, like, two seconds after you went to class, sorry.”
“No, it’s fine, I just wasn’t expecting to see her.”
“You know, she mentioned a while back that she’d like to get together with you sometime…I think it might be a good idea for you to get to know her better.”
“Harry, no offense, but I don’t need to be best friends with your ex.”
“I’m not asking you to be, but you’re in Andy’s life, she wants to get to know you better.”
“Just a one on one thing?”
“Yeah.”
“I’ll think about it.” You say and leave his office. He follows you into yours and you sigh.
“Do you have a problem with Paige?”
“No, of course not. I just don’t feel super comfortable getting together with her so she can grill me.”
“That’s not why she wants to meet up with you.”
“So, it wouldn’t be a couple of hours of her asking me a bunch of questions?”
“Well, you’d ask her questions too. I did the same with Noah, and I get along great with him.”
“I get along just fine with her.”
“You’ve been around her, like, four times.”
“And it’s been great every time, why rock the boat?” You shrug.
“Y/N…she’s the mother of my kid, she’s not going anywhere, and it would mean a lot to me if you got to know her better, alright?”
“Alright…maybe once the semester is over she and I could get together for lunch or something.”
He smiles at you and kisses your cheek.
“You’re the best.”
“Someone has to be.” You sigh and it makes him laugh. “Did you want to just stay at my place tonight so we can leave from there tomorrow?”
“Yeah, sounds good. What time do you want me over?”
“Seven?”
“I’ll be there.”
//
Harry: what should I pack for clothes, how fancy is dinner?
You: I’ll just be in jeans a blouse, wear what makes you comfortable
You thought it was sweet that Harry was a little nervous to meet your family. They weren’t scary people, but you were the baby, and you knew that came with a lot of questions. Harry comes over a little after seven in some joggers and a long sleeve shirt, and a couple of bags.
“Mm, smells good in here.” He says, kissing your cheek.
“I just finished baking what I need to bring.”
“I made a pumpkin pie to bring, could I stick it in the fridge?”
“That’s so sweet! Of course, go right ahead.”
You take his bags and bring them into your disaster of a room. You hadn’t been very good at putting your laundry away once it was folded, nor were you good about getting your dirty laundry in the hamper. You sigh and start running around to tidy it up.
“I thought you did chores once a week?” Harry chuckles as he stands in the doorway.
“I…haven’t been making much time for it with all the work I need to do. And then I come in here and it’s just too overwhelming. Everywhere else is fine though.”
“You know, having a messy room can cause just as much anxiety before you go to bed because you get reminded of the stress-“
“Har?”
“Yeah?”
“Don’t need a lecture from you on my messy bedroom, okay?”
“Wasn’t giving you one.” He raises his hands in defense. “Don’t feel like you need to clean it just because I’m here either.”
“No, I don’t wanna come back to a mess, just…go watch TV until I’m done in here, it’s mostly just laundry.”
“I can help if you want.” You make a face at him. “What? I could throw a load in for you, or help you put things away.”
“You can help by just giving me a minute. I’ve been trying to reconfigure things, I may buy a larger dresser soon.”
“Why? You could just go through get rid of what you don’t need. Perfect time of year to do it.”
“I did that already…” You bite your bottom lip. “I was thinking…well…you come over a lot, and I’ve been trying to clean out a couple of drawers for you so you could just leave some weekend clothes here if you wanted.”
“R-really?” He looks at you like a wide eyed puppy.
“Yeah, we’ve been together five months, I think it makes sense to give you a drawer, I even made room in my bathroom for you, come look.” You tug him into the bathroom “I put up this rack so you could leave some shaving stuff or whatever you usually bring. If you’re comfortable with it.”
“You won’t mind my stuff crowding you?”
“No, if anything it’ll be like you’re here when you’re not here.” You say quietly and look at him. “I leave things at your place, I want you to leave things here.”
Harry tilts your chin up to look at him and he kisses you. He never had a relationship like this before. Well, he sort of did this with Paige, but it was different. He thought it was so sweet that you wanted these pieces of him around, and he knows he should do the same for you.
“Next time you’re at my place, there will be a drawer and some closet space for you.” He smiles. “I’ll go watch some TV while you do your thing.”
“Thanks.”
Around forty-five minutes later you plop down onto the couch next to Harry, and sigh. He throws an arm around you and kisses your temple.
“What are you watching?”
“SNL’s Thanksgiving clip show.”
“Oh fun!”
“What time do we need to be on the road tomorrow?”
“Not terribly early. Today’s the big travel day, I didn’t hit any traffic last year. We can leave around eleven.”
“Amazing. I don’t mind getting up early, but it’s nice to not have to sleep in on our days off.”
“I agree.”
You both shift so you can lay on top of him. He rubs your back, and you both giggle over the funny sketches. You pull a blanket over the two of you, and just get really cozy.
“I’m excited to be going overnight with you in the city. Where are we going Friday?”
“I thought we could take the T to Faneuil Hall and do some shopping, and then we could go to the North End for food.”
“Sounds good to me. Is there anything specific I need to know about your family before I meet them?”
“Not really…my parents can be sort of abrasive, but they mean well. Phil and Julian are pretty chill.”
“How long have they been together for?”
“God, like…six years I think.”
“That’s nice.”
“They’re a great couple. I think everyone will like you, Harry, nothing to worry about.” You lean up and kiss his forehead.
He cups your cheeks and pulls you closer to kiss your lips. You skootch up his body, and his hands slide down to your ass. You bite down on his bottom lip briefly before pulling away.
“Can we be lame and just go get really cozy in bed?” You say.
“Not lame at all, I’m pretty tired from all the grading I did this afternoon.”
You get off him and you both do your nightly routines before getting into bed.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“Why is your bed so warm already?”
“Oh! I turned my heated blanket on before I came out to watch TV with you. Nice and toasty, right?”
“Very.” He chuckles. “Now turn over so I can have that booty.”
“Harry.” You laugh, but do as he says, and adjust right into him. His leg goes right over your hip like always, and he holds you nice and close.
“I’m so glad you like sleeping like this, I don’t know what I’d do.” He chuckles into the back of your head.
“I know, could you imagine if I wasn’t to feel crushed while I’m sleeping?”
“Y/N.” He laughs.
“For real, I sleep so well with you.”
“Me too.” He nuzzles in closer. “Maybe when I get back from London you could try sleeping over on school nights.” You turn over to face him immediately.
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah…wouldn’t be so weird, would it?”
“How would Andy feel about it?”
“He asks all the time why you don’t just spend the night when you have dinner with us. We could try it out and see how it goes.”
“With you in London for a few weeks, what does he do for school?”
“Oh, Paige just drives him back and forth.”
“That’s not annoying?”
“She really doesn’t mind it, it’s just extra time to spend together. It’s only two weeks for him to deal with it.”
“I could…help with rides if need be…or if he misses the house at all I could always stay over there with him.”
“Oh, so you’ll have sleepover with him without me?”
“I’m just saying, I can be helpful.”
“I appreciate that.” He kisses you. “So, will you try sleeping over some night when I get back?”
“Yeah, as long as he’s okay with it, we can give it a try. I wouldn’t mind carpooling.”
You kiss again, and you turn back over so he can spoon you. Five months together, and things were going so well.
//
The next morning your alarm goes off at 8:30. You turn it off quickly, and when you try to get up Harry clings to you tighter.
“Harry.” You giggle. “I need to shower.”
“But you’re so cozy.” He groans.
“You know how long it takes me to blow dry and curl my hair, please let me get up.”
“Alright.” He sighs. “But I’m going in there with you.”
“Oh, you are?” You raise an eyebrow at him.
“Mhm, gonna fuck you in there.” He grins at you. “If you want.”
“Hmmm.” You pretend to mull it over, but you grin back at him and nod.
Now, typically, you wouldn’t just let a guy stick it in, and trust his pullout game, but condoms in the shower never felt good, so you and Harry may have agreed that shower sex was the one time he didn’t need a condom. The first time you did it like this, not too long ago, you nearly cried from how good it felt it really feel him inside you.
“Oh, fuck, right there, Harry!” You moan out as he thrusts into you from behind, his skin slapping against yours. You reach back to squeeze at his arm as you come undone, and he pulls out shortly after to come on your ass. You both sigh with relief.
“Feel like horny teenager with you sometimes.” He chuckles as he starts to lather up his body.
“Me too.” You start washing your hair.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“I know you said you got off the pill because it didn’t make you feel good, but…are there other birth controls out there that don’t fuck with you?”
“Yeah, they’re called condoms.” You say as you put some conditioner in.
“Y/N.” He rolls his eyes and steps into the water once you’re done rinsing your hair.
“I mean…I know there’s an IUD that doesn’t mess with your hormones, but the procedure is a tad invasive, and it probably wouldn’t even be in there that long.”
“Why’s that?” He scrubs his own head so he doesn’t see your face flush.
“I just mean, like, I don’t know, what’s wrong with what we’re doing?”
“Nothing…I guess selfishly it would be nice to do it like this all the time, and not have to worry.” He looks at you. “You done?” He asks as he reaches to turn the water off.
“Yeah.” You pull the curtain and get toweled up, and hand him his. “I get where you’re coming from with that…I just…selfishly I don’t wanna compromise on it. If you’re worried about pulling out, then we don’t need to fuck in the shower like this. We can just go back to what we were before.”
“But I like fucking you in the shower like this.” He pouts and puts his hands on your hips. “You won’t even think about going on something?”
“I’m sorry, Harry…I don’t want to.”
“Alright.” He sighs. “I get it, I suppose. Condoms it is.” He kisses your forehead and leaves you to do your hair.
When you finish with your hair, you don’t see Harry in your bedroom. You go into the kitchen and see him fully dressed, getting some peanut butter on toast.
“Here, a light breakfast.” He smiles.
“Thank you.” You kiss his cheek, and take a bite of the toast. “You look handsome.” You smile at him and he smiles back.
“I’m gonna go call Andy while you’re finishing up. Do you mind if I use your office?”
“Not at all! Go right ahead.”
You finish up the toast and then go back into your room to finish getting ready. You put on a pair of black jeans, and a blue long sleeve blouse, and then go into the bathroom to put a little makeup on.
“Y/N?” Harry pops his head into the bathroom.
“Yeah?” You giggle.
“Andy wants to wish you a happy Thanksgiving.”
“Oh!” You reach out for the phone. “Hello?”
“Hi, Y/N!”
“Hi, Andy, happy turkey day.” You smile.
“You too! You and Dad are going to Boston for a couple of days, huh?”
“That’s right! Want us to bring you back anything special?”
“That depends…where are you going?”
“We’re going to be where a ton of Italian restaurants are, which means Italian bakeries. Would you like a fresh cannoli brought back to you?”
“I think I’d like you forever if you did that.” He laughs and so do you.
“Then I think that can be arranged.”
“Okay! Sorry, Mum wants to talk to Dad…”
“Oh! That’s fine, it was nice talking to you.” You hand the phone back to Harry. He was smiling ear to ear.
“Hey, yeah, he is polite isn’t he?” Harry chuckles and steps out of the bathroom. When you come out to the living room he’s sitting on the couch reading.
“All set?”
“Yeah, was just waiting for you. You’re good to go?”
“Mhm, would you carry the food down to the car for me?” You say, putting your jacket on.
“Yup, I’ll grab our bags too.”
“Thank you.” You give him a quick kiss and out the door you go.
You didn’t have an automatic start on your car and you wanted to warm it up a bit. Harry brings everything down to the car, and off you go towards the highway. He keeps a hand on your thigh as his other hand’s fingers drum along to whatever music you’ve put on. You liked that even when you were the one driving he still had a hand on you.
“I can drive us back tomorrow if you’d like.” He speaks up.
“That’s okay, it’s really not that long of a drive. Hour and twenty, max.”
“Takes me two hours to get to Boston…”
“You, my darling, drive like a grandma, that’s why.” You smirk.
“I do not!” He laughs. “I’m careful.”
“You don’t go over seventy…”
“That’s the speed limit! And you know as well as I do the state police up here pull everyone over.”
“You know what’s funny? I got pulled over before I got my NH plates, now I never get pulled over. I do eighty on the highway up here, and that’s perfect.”
“It’s too fast.”
“No, going ninety would be too fast. Just wait until we’re really driving in the city, you’ll be amazed at my swiftness.”
“You mean at your aggressiveness.”
“It’s called being a defensive driver. Maybe when Andy gets older I should be the one to teach him how to drive, or else we’ll have two grannies on our hands.” You throw him a cheeky grin and he just rolls his eyes at you.
“He’s never going driving with you unless I’m there too.”
Harry would never admit it, but he really liked it when you’d drop little hints that you were in this for the long haul. It would be years until Andy would be able to get his permit, and yet, here you are, thinking ahead about it. It was something you did once in a while, even this morning, Harry picked up on it when you mentioned how pointless an IUD would be. It was too soon to talk about kids and stuff, but he knew that was where your head was at, and it made him feel really good.
“You teach him how to park a car, you’re way better at that. I’m such a nervous parker.” You laugh. “One time I had to drive my boss to a conference we were both going to, and I had to park in a garage, and you know how narrow those spots can be. I told him I was nervous at parking, and he covered his eyes so I could park the car. He was such a sweet man, had kids my age at the time.”
“Would you like for me to do that from now on? Cover my eyes so you can park your car?” He chuckles.
“I wouldn’t hate it.”
“Why do you get so nervous?”
“I have my dad to thank for that. He’d watch me back out of the driveway just to make sure I didn’t run over the grass, it was so annoying.”
“Ah, a very dad thing to do. Grass is really important to us, you know? If you’ve got a shitty lawn it reflects poorly on you.” He smirks.
“Oh, shut up.” You roll your eyes. “You both can bond about going to Lowe’s on the weekends and looking at planks of wood.”
Harry bursts out laughing because that is definitely something he’s done before.
“I don’t just look at planks of wood, I also often go and look at the different types of mulch.”
“Do you ever bring a tape measure with you?”
“Keep one in my trunk, actually. Never know when you’ll need to take measurements for something.”
“Jesus.” You laugh and shake your head. “When you become a dad is there like an initiation ceremony where you get a bunch of that stuff?”
“Oh, sure, but it’s top secret. I’ve said too much already.”
You giggle at him. You were happy long car rides were never awkward with Harry. You could joke around, and then also sit in a comfortable silence. Today was going to be a good day.
//
Phil lived in a really nice condominium in the newly renovated areas of Southie. Harry was impressed that a sous chef could afford such a nice neighborhood.
“It’s kind of sad because this used to be where more of the affordable housing was, and then it got really gentrified. In their spare time, Phil and Julian try to help out and volunteer their time to help the people that got pushed out.”
“Wow, good for them.”
Harry helps carry the food as you key into the building, and lead him towards the elevator. You knock on the door before going in.
“Hello!” You say brightly as you both walk in.
“Hey!” Julian says, giving you a hug and kiss. “Come on in, Phil’s just basting the turkey. Hello.” He smiles at Harry.
“Hi, nice to meet you.” They shake hands, and Julian takes the food from him.
“Oh! A pumpkin pie, just what we needed, thank you.”
“No problem.” Harry smiles. You hook your arm around his waist as you walk further into the home.
“Hey!” Phil says coming over to the two of you. He gives you a hug and shakes Harry’s hand.
“This is Harry.” You say.
“Nice to meet you, man. Heard a lot of good things.” Phil smiles.
“Nice to meet you too. This is a great place.”
“Thanks! Been here for, like, what…three years?” He asks Julian.
“Yup! Almost three and a half. Got for a steal at the time.”
“Are Mum and Dad here?” You ask.
“Yeah, in the living room. Go and get comfortable, everything’s still cooking. They’re watching the parade.”
You nod and lead Harry into the living room.
“Mum, Dad, we’re here.” You say and they both get up to say hello. “Harry, this is my mum, Rebecca, and my dad, Richard.”
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you both.” He shakes both of their hands.
“Finally!” Your mom nearly squeals and throws her arms around Harry, and gives him a nice, wet kiss on the cheek. “It’s so good to meet you, Harry. We were starting to think you were made up!”
“Mum…I’ve shown you pictures.”
“You’re awfully good at that photoshop nonsense, could have just been edited.” She scoffs. “You’re very handsome.”
“Um…thank you.” His cheeks were incredibly red.
“Where’s your son today?” Your dad asks and you want to smack him for diving right in.
“Oh, he’s with his mum and her family today. She’s not from the U.K. like I am, so she actually celebrates Thanksgiving, I just observe.” He jokes, but it doesn’t land, so he clears his throat. “It’s just part of our custody agreement, I get him for Christmas.”
Your parents share a look, and then both smile at Harry.
“Your brother put out some munchies until dinner’s ready.” Your mom says. “Come, sit, I know the drive was long.”
“It wasn’t too bad, not much traffic to complain about.” You say as you stick a carrot into some dip. “Can I get you a drink, Har? Phil’s got beer and wine.”
“Just a beer would be great, thank you.”
You smile and go into the kitchen. He almost wishes he followed you because your parents stay looking at him. He was wearing a nice button up, so his tattoos weren’t overly exposed, so it couldn’t be that.
“So, how old is your son?” Your mom asks.
“Eleven, he’ll be twelve in May. His name is Andy.”
“Is it short for Andrew, or is it just Andy?” Your dad asks.
“It’s short for Andrew.” Harry smiled. “Andrew Jacob Styles.”
“What a lovely name.” You mom smiles. “Is he named after anyone?”
“Um, Jacob is a family name on his mum’s side, and Andrew was just a name with both really liked.” He shrugs. “Nothing more to it than that.”
“You’re still close with her, his mum…” Your dad notes.
“Sort of. We do the co-parenting to the best of our ability. Living close by helps with that.”
“I think it’s nice you can get along so well. We have some friends who have divorced, and they can’t stand each other. I feel terrible for the kids, they get caught in the middle, unfortunately.”
“Well, my ex and I were never ma-“
“Here were are.” You say, handing Harry a beer, a glass of red in your other hand. “How’s the parade?” You ask sitting down next to Harry.
“Y/N, you interrupted our conversation.” Your dad says. “Harry was just explaining to us how his co-parenting works.”
“Dad…I don’t think Harry really wants to talk about that right now, okay?”
“It’s alright.” Harry says. “I know it must be a tad odd for your daughter to be dating someone with so much baggage, I get it.” He takes a sip of his beer. “I was young, accidents happen, but I wouldn’t change a thing.” He puts his arm around you and sits a little more comfortably.
“Well, we hope to meet little Andy at some point.” Your mom says. “Maybe this summer we can come up for a little visit, Y/N.”
“Yeah, maybe.” You smile and lean into Harry. “He’s so sweet, and funny. He’s a really talented painter too. He’s decorated some things in my office for me.”
“Wow, that’s a big deal. You wouldn’t even let me help decorate.” Your mom chuckles.
“Because your taste is terrible, Mum, no offense.” You grimace.
“She’s right, Becky.” Your dad laughs.
“Oh, what do you two know?” She stands up. “I’m going to see if Phil needs help.”
You and your dad laugh a little.
“Good, now I can switch it to football. I actually don’t give a fuck about the parade.” Richard says. “Pardon my French.”
“No worries.” Harry says. “I don’t give a fuck either.” He grins and it makes your dad laugh.
Okay, despite the bit of awkwardness at the beginning, this was actually going pretty well. You knew your parents had their reservations with Harry, but they didn’t seem too put off. After an hour or so of watching football, everyone is called to the dining area for dinner. The spread looked incredible, your brother outdid himself. He and Julian sit at the heads of the table, and then you and Harry sit across from your parents.
“Before we dig in, I just want to say how thankful I am that we could all be together today.” Phil says. “This is the first year I didn’t have to work, so we were able to do this at a normal hour like other families. It’s nice having to wait until nearly eight o’clock.” He smiles. “Two is much better. Enjoy!”
Everyone hums in agreement, and take what they want. Phil made plenty of veggies and other meatless options for you and Harry.
“Harry, how long have you been a professor for?” Julian asks once everyone has what they want.
“Um, like, ten years I’d say. I taught while I was getting my master’s, so I count that. Got my PhD a little over four years ago, though.”
“Very cool, and did you know you always wanted to be a teacher or…?”
“Honestly, no.” He chuckles. “But I really liked what I was studying and researching, and I knew I wanted to keep doing that, and so when I was getting my master’s and became a TA, I fell in love with teaching. I don’t think I could do it at a K-12 level, but I really like teaching at a collegiate level.”
“That’s exactly what Y/N always says.” Phil says.
“It’s true! I don’t think I could teach young kids, but I really like the college kids. Especially the upperclassmen, they’re a tad more mature.”
“Harry, how did you end up over here in the states?” Your mom asks.
“Ah, well, I was looking to study abroad. I went to a school in London my freshman year, and I liked it, but I really wanted to branch out, so I ended up in New York for school. I loved it.”
“And…now you live in New Hampshire?” Your dad asks.
“Yeah, so, when I was looking for master’s programs I was looking for schools in that area because, um, my ex’s grandparents lived in the lakes region, and we needed a bit of help. Her parents live in Connecticut, and there weren’t any schools I wanted to go to out there, so I ended up at UNH for that. The drive to Manchester every day wasn’t fun, but it made things easier to have her family closer by. It was a decent compromise. I almost moved to that area full time, but her grandparents passed away, and she had to take their home over, so I ended up at our university for my doctoral program so I could stay close to my son.” He takes a sip of his drink. “I fell in love with area. I got into hiking and some of the other outdoorsy stuff there is to do. It’s home now.”
“And your family, they’re in the U.K.?” Phil asks.
“Yeah, my mum and sister both live in London. Mum’s retired and lives with my sister. She’s married with a couple of kids, so she may as well be a live in nanny.” He chuckles. “I bring Andy home to see them for Christmas, and sometimes they come to visit in the summer.”
“So, do you have dual citizenship or just a work visa?” Julian asks.
“He wouldn’t need that since he married a U.S. citizen.” Your dad says.
“See, I was trying to explain earlier, we never got married.” Harry explains. “Um…so, yeah, I have dual citizenship. I was here on a school visa for a bit, and then I got the work visa, but I knew I was stayed so I went through the citizenship process. It was a real bitch, I have to say.”
The table laughs and agrees. The conversation turns to politics, only briefly, and then goes back to light chatter. Once dessert is out and eaten, everyone is stuffed. You and Harry help clean up, and then your parents leave shortly after. Everyone feels like they can take a deep breath now.
“So you two are staying at Julian’s hotel, yeah?” Phil asks.
“Yup, why?” You raise an eyebrow.
“How about we meet you guys in the city, and we go to that bar we all like?”
“That sounds great! Meet us there around eight?”
“Works for me.”
“That work for you?” You ask Harry.
“Yeah, sounds like fun.” He smiles.
//
Once you’re checking into the hotel, you head to the elevator, and go up to your room. Harry notes how nice the hotel is, and you agree. Julian was a really good manager, and did well to make sure that the place ran smoothly. You key into the room, and you both plop down on the bed with a big sigh.
“I’m stuffed.” Harry says with a slight chuckle.
“Same here.” You look over to your bag and tug it towards you, rummaging through it and pulling out a small purple bottle. “Um…so…usually we each have two different bathrooms to use when we have sleepovers, or maybe…we don’t tend to use the bathroom in a certain way, but that’ll be different tonight so I brought this.” You show him the small bottle. “So…we can just use the bathroom and not feel embarrassed.”
Harry smirks and takes the small bottle to read it.
“Poo-perize…” He looks at you.
“You just spray it before you go, and it’s like you never went at all.”
“Ah, well, good thinking. I wouldn’t want you knowing that I took a shit.”
“Harry.” You groan and snatch the bottle from him.
“Are you telling me you’ve never shit at my house in the five months we’ve been together?”
“I…have…just not a lot. I don’t know, I’m not good with other people’s bathrooms. I’m just gonna go stick this in there.”
You get up while he shakes his head and laughs at you. You come back out and lay down next to him on the bed.
“I’m gonna tell you something I told Andy when he was about two years old.” He says to you.
“What’s that?”
“Everybody poops.”
“Gah!” You exasperate. “I know that, obviously, I just don’t want you thinking about me doing it…”
“It’s not like my ear’s gonna be pressed up against the door!” He laughs. “Lighten up.” He pulls you to rest your head on his chest and he kisses you on the top of your head.
“Did you have fun earlier? I hope my parents weren’t too invasive.”
“They were fine, I totally understood why they were asking what they were asking. I know it’s odd for someone my age to have a kid in middle school.”
“I just don’t want you to think they were judging. I actually think they really liked you.”
“I’m glad to hear it. It’ll be nice for them to come visit in the summer. Maybe we could all go to the cabin.”
“God, they would love that, babe.” You snuggle further into him.
After resting for a while, and using the bathroom, you both head down to meet Phil and Julian at a bar down the street. You all grab a booth and start a tab for drinks.
“So, this is where you all go when you visit?” Harry asks you once the drinks are on the table.
“Sort of, this is where I come with them.”
“Y/N has probably been to every bar in this city.” Phil laughs.
“You’re gonna make me sound like an alcoholic!” You laugh. “When you go to school in the city, you gotta find the good places to go. All trial and error.”
“You also had a really good fake ID.” Julian smirks. “Remember when we took her out for her twenty-first, and the bartender practically scolded her?” He laughs.
“Oh my god, he was so mad at me.” You take a sip of your drink. “There was this one place I had been sneaking into for years, and I wanted my twenty-first birthday party to be there, and I had been pretty friendly with the bartender, right? So I had him my new ID, and he, oh my god, I thought he was gonna flip his shit.”
“He gave you free shots though, so he couldn’t have been too mad.” Phil winks at you and you just shake your head.
“Yeah.” You roll your eyes.
The reason the bartender had not flipped out, thrown you out was because you promised a very a good blow job in the bathroom on his break. You had delivered, and then he gave you free shots all night, and you ended up going home with him to further explore after said blow job, but you weren’t about to expose yourself to Harry like that. You didn’t want him to think you were immature, even if it was something that happened years ago.
“Must be nice to have grown up in a place where the legal drinking age is eighteen.” Julian says to Harry.
“Yeah, it was pretty sweet that last year before going to uni. My friends and I would go to the clubs, get in a bit of trouble.” He chuckles after taking a sip of his drink. “I’m kind of glad I came to America for the rest of school, I think it helped me settle down a bit.”
“I studied abroad for culinary school,” Phil starts, “mostly in France, but when I would go out with my friends it would definitely get wild. It was a culture shock to start the evenings so late! We wouldn’t leave until midnight sometimes.”
“Yeah, that’s exactly how it is, and we’d stay out until after four in the morning most times.”
“That was the first time I saw hard drugs being used so casually. People just doing lines in the bathroom and stuff. It happens here too, but it was way less taboo over there.”
“Phil, did you ever…?” You ask him.
“God no, I mean, I smoked share of weed, but I never did anything more than that. I was too afraid of being fucked up while chopping something in the kitchen.”
“Did you?” You ask Harry. You were more curious than anything.
“Yeah.” He says casually with a shrug. “Like I said, I’m glad I came here to finish school.”
“Holy shit, what did it feel like?” You gaze up at him. “I’ve never done anything like that, I’ve never even gotten high…”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.” He gives your hand a squeeze. “It was so long ago, I don’t really remember, honestly. You just sort of feel happy and out of it.”
“Y/N, you never smoked or did an edible or anything?” Phil asks, almost shocked.
“I mean, I’ve been hot boxed before, but that’s it. I just stuck to drinking.” You laugh. “I was too scared, I didn’t know if I would be one of those people that would freak out or have a bad trip or something.” You finish your drink and so does everyone else.
“Does everyone want the same thing? I can go up and get the next round.” Harry offers.
“That’d be great.” Julian says, and you and Phil nod. Harry gives you a quick kiss before getting up to go to the bar. “He’s dreamy, Y/N, I don’t know how you get any work done.”
“Yeah, I don’t know what type of guy I was expecting, but I’d let him leave marks on me too.”
“Phil!” You giggle. “I’m glad you both like him so far. He’s amazing.”
“And things are still good between you and his kid?”
“Yeah! Andy really likes me. I think it helps that he had time to get used to me a little when Harry and I were just friends. Something tells me Harry had mentioned he had a little crush on me to him though because there was this one time Andy texted me from Harry’s phone to ask me to come get ice cream with them.” You giggle again. “It was so cute.”
“Little wing man, that’s sweet.” Phil nods.
“Sometimes I feel bad because you can tell he prefers to be with me and Harry, as opposed to his mum and soon to be step-dad…I don’t really get it.”
“He’s eleven, right?” Julian asks and you nod. “I get it. I was a total momma’s boy, and then when I started middle school, I wanted nothing to do with my mom, and it killed her. We fought all the time, and I found myself wanting to be with my dad more. Not even to talk, just being in his presence, you know? I think it’s puberty. I have a great relationship with my mom now. It’s just a phase.”
“Yeah, plus, it must be weird to have two father figures in your life. One’s telling you what to do, but you also wanna respect your actual father. Must be confusing.”
“Alright.” Harry says as he sits down with the four drinks. “What I miss?”
“Nothing, babe.” You smile and kiss his cheek. “These two were just swooning over you, that’s all.” You grin at your brother and his partner.
“Really? Well, I’m flattered.” Harry jokes.
“I have to know, do students, like, throw themselves at you?” Phil asks.
“Um, not so much anymore, when I was younger they did. A lot of them also know I’m spoken for now, so that helps.”
“It’s so awkward! Some of the senior boys I advise have tried flirting with me in our meetings, and I’m like…you’re kidding right? Keep your shrimp dick to yourself.” You take a large sip of your drink and sway your head to the music in the bar.
“I’d love to know what some kid could possibly even say to you in that setting.” Phil chuckles.
“They think they’re so adult, you know? It’s all in the body language. They adjust themselves, trying to get me to look down, and they’ll bite their bottom lips to be sexy, it’s repulsive really. But my problem is I bite my lip when I feel nervous so then they think it’s working, and then they’re shocked when I’m like actually you deserved a D on this.”
Phil and Julian laugh, but Harry doesn’t really like the sound of anyone flirting with you.
“You know, you can report that if it gets aggressive.” He says.
“Oh, it’s fine. They realize when I don’t give in that it doesn’t work, and they should just put the work in.” You see the concern on his face. “Don’t worry, if it was that aggressive I’d call H.R. right away.” You put your hand on his thigh and give it a squeeze.
“You know what I think we should after this? Go to an actual club. I feel like dancing and working off all that food.” Julian says.
“Ugh, I knew you were going to say that.” Phil groans. “I’m exhausted.”
“Can’t help it.” He shrugs and looks at you. “Y/N?”
“Fuck yeah.” You look up at Harry. “What do you say? You’ve never really seen me dance before.”
“That’s true, I could be up for that, although, I probably won’t do much dancing.”
“Good, I’ll have someone to hang back with while these two pop their asses.” Phil says and it makes everyone laugh.
//
Phil and Julian order an uber to take you and Harry to one of the lgbtq+ friendly clubs they knew of in a different part of the city. You had been there with them before so you were excited. You were also excited that Harry was being such a good sport.
You get into the club easily since the bouncer knew Phil and Julian well, and you all go up to the bar to get drinks. You decide on something fun and fruity while Harry opts for a gin and tonic. Wannabe by the Spice Girls comes on and Julian yanks you onto the dance floor.
“It’ll be hours before we see them again.” Phil chuckles and takes a sip of drink.
“You never dance?”
“Sometimes I do, but it’s not my favorite. I’m not very coordinated.”
“Neither am I! I look like an idiot whenever I dance.” Harry laughs. “But I suppose that’s half the fun.”
Harry peers into the crowd and smiles when he sees you and Julian shouting the words to the song to each other, and giggling. He watches as the two of you dance together and it makes him smile more.
“You two have been together a long time then?” Harry asks. “If you both took her out for her twenty-first?”
“Yeah! That was around the time we made things official. We met right before I went to Italy to do some more studying, and then when I came back we decided to really be together. He’s amazing, an incredible partner. He’s brilliant, honestly.”
“Are you two married, or…?”
“We’re in a civil union.” Phil shrugs. “We’ve talked openly about it, and neither of us really feel the need to get married, you know? We know we wanna be together, we don’t need a court or a piece of paper to lock it in. We each wear these rings.” Phil holds up his left hand. “See the one on my middle finger? That’s a promise ring he gave to me, and I gave one to him. That’s enough.”
“That’s really sweet.” Harry smiles.
“You have a lot of cool rings.” Phil takes one of Harry’s hands to look them over.
“Thanks! Started collecting them basically when I was nineteen. I’ve always really liked rings and bracelets.”
“And perfectly manicured nails?” Phil raises an eyebrow at him.
“Started doing that in uni. The crowd I hung out with was into black nail polish, I got into it too. It’s actually what helped me snag my ex.” He rubs the back of his neck with his free hand.
“Really?”
“Yeah, we were friends for a bit, and one night she got really drunk and she started crying because her nail ripped and she just wanted to take all the polish off and start over, and I told her I had stuff back at my room to do that, so I took her back with me and basically did her nails. I let her sleep in my bed and I slept on the floor, and then the next morning before I could even say anything she kissed me.”
“Oh my god, that’s like out of a movie.” Phil swoons, letting go of Harry’s hand. “But I think I like the story of the camping trip with my sister better.” He takes a sip of his drink. “Actually, I think I like that you casually brought her to a family party, and then brought her back to your place to watch the sunset.”
“Told her I liked her that night too, but I back peddled.” Harry chuckles.
“She picked up on that, but I think she chose to ignore it at the time. I’m glad she came to her senses.”
“Me too.” Harry smiles.
After a few songs, you come back to Harry, throwing your arms around his neck. Your fruity drink hitting you much faster than your others.
“Maybe just one more.” You slur.
“Or, and here me out, you could start drinking some water.” He tucks some hair behind your hair to keep it from your sweaty forehead.
“But-“
He dips his mouth to your ear to whisper.
“I’d like to have a little fun when we get back, and we can’t do that if you’re sloshed, babe.” He moves back to look at you with raises eyebrows and you nod. “Great, I’ll go get you some ice water.”
He returns shortly and you guzzle it down. Once you’re all set you make your way back to Julian. Harry taps his foot along with the beat of the song.
“Hey, handsome, can I buy you a drink?” A guy slightly shorter than Harry says to him brightly.
“Um, I’m so sorry, I’m here with someone.” He points over to you.
“Why aren’t you dancing with her then?!”
“He’s got a point, Harry.” Phil teases him.
“You’re not dancing with Julian!”
“Fair enough.” Phil finishes the rest of his drink and strolls over to join you and Julian. You both hoot and holler with excitement.
“Go on, pretty boy, go show your girl a good time.” The man winks and then walks away.
Harry sighs and makes his way over to you. Your eyes light up and your smile says it all. You’re absolutely delighted that he’s come over to you. You wrap your arms around his torso and press your cheek to his chest, swaying back and forth with him. His arms go around you and he rests his chin on the top of your head. It didn’t matter that the song was fast paced, you were happy to just be pressed up against him the way you were. You look up at him, smiling.
“What?” He smiles down at you.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
//
It was a wonderful night out with Phil and Julian, but it had to end sometime, so you and Harry uber back to the hotel around one in the morning. You didn’t want to be too tired for whatever fun he wanted have with you.
“That was fun.” He says to you in the back of the car. “I like them, they were really welcoming.”
“I’m so glad! I figured you’d get along well since you’re around the same age.” You shrug.
“That club was fun too, got hit on by a guy.”
“You did?!”
“Yup.” He says proudly. “Called me handsome and asked me if I wanted a drink, but don’t worry, I told him I was there with someone.”
“Well, thank god, otherwise you’d be in an uber with someone else right now.” You say facetiously and he laughs.
“Should I be offended that you think I could so easily be swayed to leave with someone else?” He nudges you playfully.
“Nah, I’m just teasing. I know you wouldn’t do that.”
“Besides,” he leans in closer to your ear so the driver won’t hear, “the only tight, little hole I wanna fuck is yours.”
Your eyes grow wide and you feel a shiver go down your spine. You know that he’s referring to your other hole. His mouth had been on it enough times now for you to know he definitely wanted to have anal with you, but you weren’t sure of how you felt about it exactly. You could see him maybe using a finger or something, but his entire prick? Your thoughts are broken when you feel his lips on your temple.
You get to the hotel and head up to your room, hand in hand.
“Oh!” You say as you get inside the room. “I brought something to wear to bed, and I really wanna put it on for you.”
“You never wear anything to bed, though.” He chuckles.
“I know! I brought it special for the trip. I didn’t think we’d be out as late as we were. Please? It’s really cute.” You pout.
“It’s just gonna come off a minute after you put it on, but sure.” He smiles and sits on the edge of the bed. “I’ll humor you.”
You grab your bag and bring it into the bathroom with you. This also gives you a chance to just freshen up since you were sweating on the dance floor. You touch up your makeup, apply some fresh deodorant, and spritz a little bit of perfume onto your wrists, and dab a bit behind your neck. Next you take out the garments you wanted to wear for him. It wasn’t incredibly special, but cute nonetheless. It was a pastel purple set of silk pajamas. The top was tank top style with a little bit of lace where you cleavage would sit, and the bottoms were shorts that just show your under-bum. Class, but sexy. You brush your hair out so it looks less frizzy, and then peak your head out of the bathroom door.
“Ready for me?”
“Ready, babe.”
“Close your eyes.”
Harry sighs and closes his eyes. He had already taken his glasses off and put them away. His palms are pressed behind him on the mattress. You tip toe out of the bathroom and come to stand in front of him.
“Okay, open.”
His eyes flutter closed and then they widen when he looks you up and down. You twirl around for him and giggle.
“What do you think?”
“You look…lovely, Y/N.” His hands come up to rest on your hips. “When did you get these?”
“Not too long ago. I’ve been saving it for a night away where I’d maybe have excuse to change into something else.”
“S’very pretty. I love the color on you.”
You smile down at him and get yourself situated so that you’re straddling him. His hands slide down to your ass and he squeezes you. His hands then move up under the back of the top and then he drags his nails down your soft skin and your head rolls back. He takes the opportunity to sponge wet kisses up your jugular, and around to the crook of your neck. He licks up to just under your earlobe, and sinks his teeth into your skin. You gasp from the sensation, loving the way it feels. Your hands move to clutch at his shoulders as he creates a nice, purple mark on your neck.
“Fuck, Harry.” You breathe after he detaches himself from you.
“To match your pj’s.” He smirks.
A slight whimper leaves your lips, and then you start unbuttoning his shirt furiously. He helps you get it off him, and then you run your hands up and down his torso, making scratch marks of your own. You loved the way his stomach would tighten from the feeling of your nails. Your fingers work next to undo his belt and button on his jeans.
“Need you naked.” You kiss him. “Now.”
He nods quickly and you stand up to help him get his pants off. He kicks them to the floor as he works to get his boxers off as well. Once they’re throw somewhere you kiss him again, and work your way down his body. He opens his legs up more you and you plant kisses up and down his hard dick. You move to tease him a little, nipping at his inner thigh the way he would do to you. He cards his fingers through your hair, and makes a makeshift ponytail for you with his fist. You lick up his shaft with the flat of your tongue and the moan his lets out just eggs you on further. You kiss his tip before taking it into your mouth and you sink down on him, taking him as deep as you can before popping back off him.
Not that he ever thought of her while he was with you, but times like this Harry couldn’t help but compare you to Paige. She never did things like this for him. He always had to ask her to do it, and she’d only do it for a couple of minutes. She’d give him a hand job no problem, but she rarely would put her mouth on him, which made him sad because he had no problem doing it for her. You, on the other hand, would often initiate with him, and he loved that about you. Sometimes you’d be lounging on the couch or even just reading in bed together, and you’d look at him. He knew the look very well now, and he would just nod, and all of a sudden your mouth would be on him. Times like this it was just more confirmation that he was with the right person.
Blow jobs were things you didn’t particularly enjoy unless you really liked a guy, which is exactly what you told him when you first gave him one. If you were going to make a guy feel good, you wanted to make sure that guy was going to make you feel just as good, and Harry passed that test. Now, you loved pleasuring him like this no problem. Even when you were on your period, you didn’t care that you couldn’t have much in return unless you got in the shower.
You lick over his slit and moan from the taste, which you didn’t particularly love, but just the fact that he was already leaking for you was enough for you to make the noise. You smear your bottom lip along his tip because you know he likes it sloppy, and you know his precome his bound to dribble down your chin. You look up at him and see he’s already watching you, chest heaving. You bring your face away, a string of spit keeping you attached to him before you lick over your lip and smirk.
“What?”
“Well…it’s just…I’m a little tired.” You look away and then back up to him, your grin growing. “So, what if I just put my mouth over you and you do the work?”
“Are you asking me to fuck your mouth?” He was being very serious.
“Yes, Harry.”
“Are you comfortable on the floor or do you want to get on the bed?”
“Maybe just hand me a pillow for my knees?”
He nods and quickly grabs a pillow from the head of for you. You get it situated to get yourself more comfortable, and you nod. He tightens his grip on your hair as you lower your mouth back around him. He starts by just easing you on and off, up and down. Your eyes flutter closed so you can focus on breathing through your nose. He bucks his hips up carefully to get a little further down your throat, and to help you adjust. You widen your throat as much as you can. You keep one hand on his thigh, and the other you keep in a fist, squeezing your thumb. An old trick you learned in college to help suppress your gag reflex. A placebo at best, but it worked.
“Oh my god, baby.” He groans as he really gets a rhythm going, bobbing your head up and down for you as he moves his hips. “You’re so fucking perfect.”
Your eyes flutter open and you do your best to look at him through your lashes, but all you can see are the ferns on his hips and love handles. You had drool and precome dripping down your chin, and you knew he had to be loving it. He was panting as he looks down at you, biting furiously into his bottom lip as to not disturb whatever neighbors were on either sides of the walls.
He was being extremely careful of you, which just turned you on more. It showed how much self-control he truly had to not just be ramming and thrusting his dick down your throat. Your nails are digging into his thigh, and you do choke on him at one point, but you’re okay. Eventually he has you come fully off of him.
“Don’t wanna come in my mouth?” You ask as you catch your breath and wipe your chin with the back of your hand.
“Not if you want me to fuck your cunt later.”
“Oh.” You blush. “Yeah, I want that.”
“Alright then.” He chuckles and helps you up. “Felt so good, baby.” He kisses your now swollen lips.
He lays you down on the bed, your head comfy on the pillows. He reaches between your legs and groans when he feels how wet you are through the silk shorts.
“Christ.” He breathes. “Taking this all off now.”
You nod and lift your arms up. He gets you fully naked and spreads your legs open. Just as you did with him, he kisses down your body, nipping where he pleases, and starts leaving more love bites on your inner thighs, causing you to squirm.
“Stay still for me, baby.”
“M’trying, sorry.”
You give him a soft smile and he gives you one back before he licks around your folds. You feel yourself almost go cross-eyed from the sensation. His teeth nip at your clit before he sucks on it, and he has to use one of his arms to hold you down because you’re just extremely sensitive tonight for whatever reason. His thumb replaces his mouth on your clit so he lick into you.
“Oh, god.” You moan. Your hands fly to his hair to tug on. “Harry.” You whimper and it’s music to his ears. It just makes him fuck you harder with his tongue. His thumb rubs perfect circles into where you need it most, and you feel your legs shaking around him. “Fucking, Christ!” You cry out as you start panting. You could feel your orgasm already approaching. He just knew exactly what to do, and it was incredible.
He pops up briefly to get some air, and then he looks at you, furrowing your brows.
“Wh-what is it?” You ask innocently.
“Would you…” He holds up his index and middle finger.
“Oh! Mhm.” You smile and open your mouth for him. He smiles back at you and brings his fingers to your mouth to suck on. You make eye contact as you lap and suck around him.
“Thank you, darling.”
Your heart flutters as he works his way back down between your legs. His fingers slide inside you while his mouth finds your clit again. His fingers curl up inside you, and you grip at the comforter on the bed. They pump and twist and pet you, and it’s all too much along with his tongue flicking at your clit.
“Ah! Fuck, Harry!” Your back arches off the bed, and your eyes roll into the back of your head. When he retracts his finger from you, you look at him, your eyes growing dark with lust. “Get the condoms.”
He nods and rummages through his bag for them, tearing one of them open, and sliding it onto his hard, throbbing dick. You put your hands onto his shoulders to brace yourself as he thrusts inside you. He buries his face into the crook of your neck as he rocks in and out. You get a fist full of his hair and rock your hips along with his.
“Fuck, Y/N.” He groans and looks at you, peaking his tongue out. You take the signal and let your mouth fall open so he can kiss you. It’s a searing kiss, needy, like he hadn’t kissed you in weeks. That was the thing with Harry, he always kissed you like he hadn’t seen you in ages, like he hadn’t touched you in ages. It was fucking fantastic.
“Harry, I’m gonna come again.” You whine. It was from the way you were grinding against him, otherwise you don’t think you would have had one again so quickly, not that you were complaining. He keeps everything the same so you can get there, and boy do you get there. He puts his hand over your mouth so you can cry out how you need to. You catch your breath and then you look up at him. “Let me ride you.”
He nods and pulls out, flipping on his back. You grip him to line yourself up once you’ve swung your leg over his lap. You sigh with relief once he’s inside you again. His hands work their way up your body to knead your breasts as move around on him in large circles. He looks up at you and starts chuckling.
“What could possibly be funny?” You ask, giggling.
“Nothing, I just like you a lot.” You pout at that. Since you said your I love yous, neither of you had made your like you a lot statement, and it filled your heart.
“I like you a lot too, Harry.” You lean down to kiss him, sucking on his bottom lip before returning up right.
“Gonna fuck me, baby?”
“Mhm, gonna fuck you so good.”
You start to raise and lower on him, his hands coming down to squeeze at your hips. Usually he would even up taking over, but he wanted to let you do it. He knew you wanted to do it, and you were so kind as to let him fuck your mouth earlier the least he could do was let you control the pace just this once. It also inflated his ego immensely to look up and watch your face like this. The joy you were getting from riding him was so delicious to him.
“You’re so fucking gorgeous like this, Y/N.” he squeezes harder at your hips, sure to leave bruises later, but you don’t care.
Your hands plant onto his thighs behind you as you continue to bounce up and down on him.
“Rub my clit, Harry, please.” You nearly whine.
He does so without question and you let out a loud moan. He could feel you squeezing around him and it was bringing him nearly over the edge. He could feel the ecstasy bubbling at the base of his spine.
“Baby, I’m not gonna last much longer.” He groans.
“Good, want you to come, let go, Harry.”
You feel his warm come fill up the condom, and the sensation along with his fingers rubbing on you guide you to your third release, causing you to collapse onto his heaving chest. He tilts your chin up and he smears his lips over yours.
//
After the long day and night you both had, neither of you were upset to have woke up at 10:15. You shower together, without any funny business, and get ready for the day. Harry furrows his brows at the booties you put on.
“What?” You ask him. “Don’t like ‘em?”
“No, they’re cute, it’s just…won’t your feet hurt walking around in them all day? I know you lived here and everything, but-“
“I promise, Daddy, if my feet hurt I won’t complain and if I do, you can say I told you so.”
“Y/N.” He sighs. “I hate it when you call me that so condescendingly, my express of concern isn’t me being fatherly, it’s me being your boyfriend who would feel terrible if your feet got all blistered.”
Your features soften, you didn’t realize how much your little joked bothered him.
“Oh…I’m sorry, um, these are actually pretty good for walking in. I wouldn’t wear them if I knew they’d hurt, but I appreciate you looking out for me.”
You give him a kiss on the cheek, and he grabs the bags. You check out, and grab a coffee from the complimentary section of the breakfast area, and put everything in the car.
“Julian said we could park here for the day no problem. We just need to talk to the green line stop, and we’ll be good to go.” You explain after locking the car back up.
You make your way to the green line station, and you just use your Charlie Card to get the both of you through, and onto the train that would get you Government Center. You were happy to be traveling with Harry. Sometimes when you were in town with people who didn’t understand the hustle and bustle of the T it could be frustrating, but Harry had the tube back in London, so this was second nature to him.
You almost feel giddy after coming off the train, and see The Quincy Market sign come into view. You tug at Harry’s hand to get him to walk faster towards the shops.
“There’s a Ray-Bans store here I wanna go to. They’re bound to have a sale right now. Oh! And there’s this store that sells really hot sauces I think you’ll like. Does Andy like graphic T’s? There’s a Newbury Comics here and I’d like to get him a gift from there.”
“For what? Thought you only promised a cannoli?”
“I did, but it would be for Christmas. Is that alright if I wanna-mph!” His lips were on yours, his hands cupping your cheeks. He was just overwhelmed with how much you cared about his son.
“Yeah, he likes graphic T’s.” He says it like he didn’t just shove his tongue down your throat, gently intertwining your fingers as you continue to walk.
You clear your throat and nod, giving his hand a squeeze. You go in and out of the shops. You note the sunglasses that Harry pays special attention to so you know which ones to get him for the holidays. You go into Sephora for a bit to look at the expensive makeup on one end of the store, and he looks at the foundation and concealer he would typically use. So much was on sale, you end up buying a ton of new brushes and sponges, and he gets the remover wipes he likes using. You go into spicy sauce store, and pick out a couple of bottles of things you’d each like to try, and then off to Newbury Comics.
“Do you shop at any of these clothing stores?” He asks subtly.
“Not really, I do StitchFix, why?”
“No reason.” He shrugs. Damn. He literally had no idea what to get you for the holidays. You bought yourself a new pair of sunglasses, and pretty much whatever else you needed. He was at a loss.
“So, what shows does he watch? I’d like to get him a shirt that’s relevant.” You say as you both make your way to the clothing section of the store.
“He’s really into Spongebob reruns at the moment, it’s been driving me nuts.”
“Seriously? That show is over twenty years old…”
“I know! He discovered it a few months ago, and he thinks it’s hilarious.” Harry sighs. “He also likes The Simpons, The Office, oh! He’s really into Malcom in the Middle right now.”
“How does even know about that show?”
“He found it on Hulu one night and he asked if he could watch it and I said okay. He loves it.”
“Hmm.” You tap your chin for a second. “I may need to go on Etsy then. I think I know of a shirt he would like, but I doubt they have it here.”
“You don’t have to go to so much trouble, Y/N. He’ll like whatever you give him.”
“That’s just it, I don’t want him to like it, I want him to love it.”
Harry thought his heart was going to burst as you looked around. You come to the section of the store with all of the different card games.
“Is he too young for Cards Against Humanity? Could be fun for him and Brandon.”
“Wee bit.”
“Alright…oh, what about What Do You Meme? That’s age appropriate, no?”
“Oh, he’s actually been asking for something like that. It’s a good stocking stuffer.”
“Perfect!” You snatch a pack. “This will also be from me.” You wink at him and keep looking around.
“What do you usually do for the holidays, anyways?”
“Well, whenever Hanukkah falls, I usually do something with my family, and then I lay low on Christmas.”
“Maybe during one of the nights of Hanukkah you could come over and the three of us could do something traditional with you.”
“I’d love that, Har.” You smile at him. “I could show you how to make homemade potato pancakes.”
“That would be a lot of fun.” He kisses your cheek.
Eventually you both walk over to the North End to get some Italian food for a late lunch/early dinner. You each enjoy raviolis and lots of bread. You make sure to stop off at one of the bakeries to grab some cannolis.
“You can just put these in your freezer, they should still be good when he gets home.”
“Sounds good, he’s gonna be so excited.”
You make your way back to the hotel garage and get into the car.
“Babe, let me drive, you’re tired.”
“No, I can do it.”
“Y/N.”
“Let me just get us through the city, and then I’ll pull over at the rest stop in Londonderry.”
“Fine.” He rolls his eyes.
You end up doing just that. You zip through the city, staying in the left lane the whole time, and then you pull over at the rest area. You let Harry drive the rest of the way, and he drives back to your place.
“Did you wanna stay over tonight? I could come to yours tomorrow, or if you’re sick of me we can-“
“Why do you always say that?” He chuckles. “I could never be sick of you.”
You beam at him, and you both get up inside your apartment. After you unpack your things, you both get into bed, and fall asleep quickly. It was the perfect Thanksgiving.
//
“Dad, these are so good.” Andy says, mouth full of cannoli Sunday night. “Y/N is the best.”
“I’ll pass the message on to her.” Harry smiles. “Listen, uh, how would you feel if she started staying over sometimes when you’re here?”
“I’d be okay with that, I don’t really care.”
“I just wanna make sure you feel comfortable with it. It’s okay if you don’t.”
“Dad, I really don’t care. I’d like it if she stayed here. I feel bad that she thinks she can’t. Then we could all have breakfast together in the mornings, that would be fun.”
“Yeah, it would. I’ll let her know you’re cool with it, thanks.”
“Thanks for asking first.”
“It’s your house too, not gonna make any big changes without consulting you.”
Later that night, as he’s crawling into bed, Harry texts you.
Harry: got the okay from the head of the house, you’re good to spend the night any time you feel comfortable doing so…he loved the cannolis btw
You: oh well, glad I was able to butter him up with those, lol why don’t we give it a try tomorrow?
Harry: are you just saying that because you know Mondays are baked ziti night????
You: what?! I’m offended! I want to come spend the night with you, it in no way has anything to do with your delicious, amazing, incredible, mouth watering baked ziti
Harry: god, you know what complimenting my food does to me 😈 😈 😈
You: goodnight, Harry
Harry: no!
You: yes
Harry: don’t do this
You: I’m so tired! You barely let me leave your bed this morning…need to catch up on sleep
Harry: everything we did today you wanted. I know because I asked and you said yes
You: very true! And now I’m telling you I’m going to sleep, I love you, I’ll see you tomorrow
Harry: alright, I love you too, sweet dreams, baby
//
The next morning, Harry gets up at 5AM to do his yoga in his bedroom, and then goes into the kitchen to get zome ziti boiled. It wasn’t a difficult dish to make, especially since there wasn’t meat in it, but Harry did use three types of shredded cheese, and he had a homemade marinara sauce. Once the ziti is cooked, he layers it all in a glass dish and sticks it in the fridge. It’ll go in the over to bake when he gets home later.
His next task is to shower, and get dressed before waking Andy up.
“Buddy, time to get up.” Harry comes in and sits on the edge of Andy’s bed. “Come on, sun’s up and everything.”
Andy groans like he does most mornings.
“Don’t gimme that. What do you want for breakfast?”
“Scrambled eggs, please.” He mumbles.
“Can do, now get up.” He takes the top blanket away and Andy groans louder, but it wakes him up enough to get out of bed.
Harry whips up some eggs for Andy and some peanut butter toast for himself, and sets it on the table. Andy comes out in jeans and a long-sleeve T-shirt.
“Basketball’s gonna be starting in a bit, you must be excited.”
“Yup.” Andy smiles. “And winter program starts this Friday, I’m really excited for that. Do you think you’ll chaperone?”
“Probably. I’ll find a Friday to come out and help.”
“Y/N should come too.”
“I don’t know if she skiis…”
“How could she not in this area?”
“It’s not for everyone.” He shrugs. “I’ll ask her if she wants to come up to the cabin some weekend or something before having her help out with a bunch of kids.”
“Okay, fair point. Oh! You could teach her to ski, you’re a good teacher.”
“I’d have her take a professional lesson, Andy. It’s not as easy for adults to learn this kind of stuff as it is for kids.”
“You could still show her the basics.”
“Eat your eggs.” Harry rolls his eyes. “By the way, she’s coming for dinner tonight.”
“Of course she is.” Andy giggles. “It’s baked ziti night.”
“That’s what I said! Anyways, she’s gonna try staying over with us. Want you on your best behavior.”
“When am I not?” Andy scoffs.
“Hmm, let’s see…” Harry holds his hand up to start counting on his fingers.
“Okay, okay, I promise I’ll be good.”
“Thank you.”
//
It was a busy work day since it was the Monday after a short holiday break. You barely saw Harry, but you decide to leave him a little love note on his desk while he was teaching. You notice he left his phone on his desk. Something he rarely does, but it happens once in a while. You see it light up with a news notification, and you do a double take. His lock screen was a picture of the two of you. You pick it up and hold it closer.
“When did he…?” You trail off as you smile. It was a picture of you from one of your hikes. You’re looking up at him, smiling and sweaty, but smiling nonetheless.
“Y/N?” Harry says coming into his office. “What are you doing with my phone?”
“I…I was just leaving you a note, and it lit up…and…I didn’t realize I was your lock screen…” You hand him his phone.
“Of course you’re my lock screen, you have been for a while…”
“I guess I never noticed.” You look away. “I have a picture of the two of us as mine, see.” You show him your phone. “It’s from when we made that mess making waffles from scratch. Makes me smile every time I look at it.”
“Can’t believe I never noticed either…” He looks at the screen and then to you. He steps towards you. “You were leaving me a note?”
“Yeah, I…we barely saw each other today, and I know you need to get home soon, so I was just leaving you a little love note.”
“Oh.” He sets his things down on his desk and comes even closer to you. He tucks some hair behind your ear, his tell for wanting a kiss.
You lean up and he leans down and your lips press against each other. It doesn’t last long, you’re at work after all.
“Okay, well, I have some work to do.” You blush. “Um, I’ll be over by 6:30, does that work?”
“Works great.”
He watches you leave and he sighs dreamily as he gathers his things. He zips home and helps Andy with his homework before getting the ziti in the oven. You get over there around 6:30, with your overnight bag slung over your shoulder.
“Hi, boys.” You say as come inside after Andy answers the door.
“Y/N, those cannolis you got were so good. Thanks again.”
“Oh! I’m so glad you liked them, Andy.” You ruffle the hair on the top of his head and go to put your things down in Harry’s room before coming into the kitchen to give him a kiss. “It smells so good in here.”
“Just took it out of the oven, sit.” He smiles.
After dinner you’re itching to change into come comfier clothes, so you do. You put on a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt, one Harry gave to you, and you come out with your laptop to the living room.
“You don’t mind, do you?”
“Nope, Andy?”
“Do your thing.” He shrugs as he flips the TV to Hulu to put Malcom in the Middle.
“Remember, two episodes and then you can go read before bed.” Harry reminds him.
“I’m fully aware, thanks.” He rolls his eyes.
“When I was your age, my bed time was 9:30, but CSI, the Las Vegas one, was on at nine, and I used to watch TV with my mom in bed every night, and CSI was on Thursdays, and so every Thursday we’d have the same fight because I had to see how the episode ended, you know? And then my mom would get so tired that she’d just let me stay up and finish it.”
The boys both look at you with wide eyes. You had a tendency to talk really fast when you had a story to tell.
“Dad says I can’t watch TV right before bed because then I won’t sleep well.”
“He’s right about that! I could never sleep after watching TV with my mom. She’d watch Date Line and scary shows like that.”
“If you were scared, then why would watch with her?” Andy asks.
“Well, my mom worked until eight most nights and I just wanted to spend time with her, so getting into bed and watching TV with her was my way of doing that.”
“That’s sweet.” Harry says, putting his arm around you.
After Andy goes to bed around nine, making sure to give you and Harry a hug, you both decide to get ready for bed as well. You do your routine, and chew on your bottom lip.
“What is it?” He asks he slides into bed with his book.
“Can I still sleep naked? Does he ever come in here?”
“Hmm, how about just a t-shirt? Grab any one of mine from my dresser.”
“Okay, fair enough compromise.”
You change quickly, and get into bed with a book of your own.
“This is nice.” He says, smiling at you. “Having you here on a Monday night.”
“Yeah, feels right.” You kiss his cheek and open your book to the page you dog-eared.
Even though Harry just wanted to ravage you, he knew that would probably have to wait until you showered in the morning. You did look awfully cute when you passed out with your book still in your hand. Harry takes it, saved your place, and sets it on the night table closest to you. He takes his glasses off and turns off the lights, then kisses your forehead before wrapping himself around you. You adjust into him and drift off fully.
You’re woken up abruptly around midnight by Harry’s phone buzzing. It goes off a few times so he finally turns over and grabs it.
“Oh, shit.” He says.
“What?” You mumble.
“Paige called three times, hold on.” He swipes his phone to call her back.
“Harry?!”
“Hey, what’s going on, is everything alright?”
“No…everything’s not alright.” She sobs.
“What happened?” Harry sits up fully. “What’s wrong, darling?” When he says that it makes you sit up. He was clearly trying to calm her down, but you didn’t like him using the term of endearment.
“My…my father died.”

The tray made a harsh clink as Alberu set it in front of Taerang, who was sitting on the lignum vitae chair, on the coffee table which formed a complete set with the said chair.
“So, sir, in the end,” Taerang took a pause to sip on the tea the host had provided, though he was the junior, “Did you tell him your name?”
Alberu averted his eyes, before answering in a low voice, “...Yes.”
Taerang sighed. He cared about his employer a lot, especially because of the fact that they had known each other for quite some time, and in that time, he had come to realize rather early on, that Alberu was rather soft on the inside, despite his harsh mannerisms and stern appearance. He cared far too deeply for people and always hesitated to let a connection go. It would be bad in their line of work, but well, sometimes it was necessary.
He remembered the way the younger college student had always shook his hand rather than barking at him and treating him like a meagre guard. Even though he was one, who had been given to him as a present for his achievements by his former ‘owner’, Angelica and right before Choi Jung Gun, and before that his guardian, Ahn Mon Ran.
He was always viewed as a tool, almost always at least, Ahn Mon Ran had no other option but to give him to Choi Jung Gun because of the hand the man had on him.
He asked once again, “Did you say anything that even remotely points out the fact that made the person think that you’re part of the elite Crossman family, and not your average joe?”
Alberu still didn’t meet Taerang’s eyes. Taerang knew what that meant and unfortunately Alberu did too.
Alberu struggled to meet Taerang’s eyes, “I’m sorry, hyung-”
“Don’t call me that right now, sir. You know you’re in trouble. Big time.”
Taerang took a sip of his lavender tea which had been poured til the brim of the teacup, “You were the one who originally asked for these rules to be made, and we can’t break them, since you specifically gave us instructions not to. No matter what you say at the time.”
Taerang looked at the man who was fidgeting anxiously. He knew why these rules were a safety precaution, and he didn’t want Alberu to go through that experience again. Well, technically speaking, he wasn’t there but he was told the story, and he didn’t like it either way, not one bit.
Alberu also knew the reasons, and the repercussions, and yet it felt horrible. He knew why this had happened, and he didn’t want it to happen again but still. He looked at the table silently for a moment, thinking about the various possibilities which seemed to end with his heartbreak.
Kim Rok Soo didn’t seem like the guy who would take advantage of him, he just didn’t. Not to mention, the connection- the connection felt as if he was a gust of wind that had finally found his tree, but he knew that in the end, this was the best move he could play. If he stayed, he had no idea what to do.
Would he confront Kim Rok Soo?
Would he pretend never to see him again, despite knowing that his heart longed for the other?
That would just be running away, but Alberu wasn’t even sure what Kim Rok Soo would want. He thought that Kim Rok Soo was free, and that he, a caged bird could never compare, even if he liquidised all his assets he couldn’t compare with that man, and so, he might as well not trouble the other.
Alberu was determined, yet this time he felt like he couldn’t win. A feeling he hadn’t felt for a long time. It reminded him of the time he had to deal with his dad, and those were memories he would rather not recall, but he was sure a broken person like him didn’t deserve Kim Rok Soo.
After this short exchange with himself, he looked at Taerang, his eyes looked soulless, and his voice was brittle as he spoke, “So let’s go through with it.”
Taerang felt something inside of him break, he couldn’t do anything but agree, “...Yes, let’s go through, sir.”
Alberu took a short sip of the liquid that had been sitting in front of him untouched, “Ah look, it’s gone cold.”
***
Kim Rok Soo’s apartment was in an overly pristine condition, despite it normally being clean, Choi Jung Soo could tell that he had cleaned the place intensely a couple of hours earlier. The yellow evening lights had been switched on a few hours ago and the three men were sitting on the floor on a neatly maintained rug, with more than an average number of bottles that three men should consume in a single night being kept on the table. It seemed that they had all acknowledged that the only function of the table right now was to act as storage.
“Rok Soo-ya?” Choi Jung Soo asked, waving his hand over the other’s face.
“Ah,” Kim Rok Soo blinked, adjusting his eyes to the light, before replying to the call of this man, “Yes?”
Choi Jung Soo took a seat next to him and could easily notice a couple of things that were odd off the bat. For example, the eyebags were deeper, he wasn’t paying attention at all, which even when separated from these discrepancies was odd. Not to mention he was drinking a lot, almost as if he was trying to get drunk. Even though Choi Jung Soo knew that Kim Rok Soo was aware of his own tolerance, which was inhumanly high, something must have happened and it was definitely not a good thing, seeing as the way Kim Rok Soo looked and acted.
Choi Jung Soo patted the other’s head gently, you could hear the tease in his tone, “What’s wrong?”
“Don’t really want to talk about it…Could you pour another one?” the other responded with a burnt out tone, letting the hand rest there.
‘I guess it didn’t go well.’ Choi Jung Soo poured another cup for himself, using the nearest half filled bottle, before filling Kim Rok Soo’s cup.
Lee Soo Hyuk on the other hand, was drinking a little too much than what a forty year old liver could take. He’d drunk two bottles. Downing them like they’re soup, well not like his dongsaeng hadn’t drunk about three bottles of the same type of strong alcohol in one sitting.
‘Really, the people around me really don’t take care of themselves,’ thought Choi Jung Soo drinking down his seventh cup of scotch. He sighed and looked at Kim Rok Soo, he was sure it was a rejection.
Kim Rok Soo felt like throwing up. He wanted to throw up all his feelings related to his former neighbor. It had only been a day, he wasn’t that close- So it wouldn’t be hard at all, if that was the case, right?
“Who am I kidding, of course not.” he murmured.
“Hmm?” the one beside him asked, “Is something wron-” Before Choi Jung Soo could finish his question, he was tackled with  a hug from the one he had presumed to be on the other end of the table.
“Rok Soo yaaaaa~ Don’t worry, these kinds of things will always happen.”
Choi Jung Soo struggled to escape the bear hug he had, without his knowledge, stepped into. “Hyung- Kim Rok Soo is there- There-” he tried to point to the clearly dispirited Kim Rok Soo, failing and being pinned to the floor, while Lee Soo Hyuk fell asleep on him.
Gradually, Choi Jung Soo too, started losing consciousness, albeit something he did not sign up for, and drifting to sleep, while Kim Rok Soo was sitting in the end of the line of drunkards, well two pass outs and one drunk.
Kim Rok Soo shuffled to get the two blankets to cover his hyungs before getting his own to join in on the pile of corpses. He shifted the table a bit, and tucked himself to make the rug a little more comfortable to lie on.  He tried to close his eyes, but he simply couldn’t. His mind was haunted by the brunette, and not in a good way. He turned to a couch, which brought back the incident that occured day before yesterday. He shifted once more, this time to look at the faces of his hyungs, this again reminded him of the time they were so excited about the whole soulmate jamboree.
Everything reminded Kim Rok Soo of Alberu, and he didn’t like it. No matter how hard he tried he could simply not forget the man. He had a striking appearance and a discernable mark on his life, despite them knowing each other for a day.
They hadn’t met each other since Kim Rok Soo had moved here, which was 6 years ago. Well, that was partly Kim Rok Soo’s fault for thinking that it was too much work to meet his neighbours, and he just ended it with seeing his then 24-year-old neighbour, who was too busy with his work once.
Now, he regretted his decision. If only he had met him earlier. If only he hadn’t ignored his neighbour. These thoughts were the only ones going through his head that night, as he kept on twisting and turning, before finally finding a comfortable position to sleep in.
***
Alberu got up to an undesired nostalgia of mahogany furniture and neatly lined bookshelves along with the scent of cookies permeating the room. It wasn’t dense but rather a soft scent, being accompanied by a denser scent of black coffee.
What was strange, was the fact that there was no coffee in the vicinity, and he knew his aunt, much like him, leaned towards tea. He was a bit curious about the fragrance but didn’t want to give it much thought as his brain was more preoccupied with other means- Kim Rok Soo.
How would he deal with him?
Alberu was fully aware of what a jerk he was being. He knew that it had been very unfair of him to just straight up leave.
“Aunt Tasha-” he called out to the similar looking black haired woman, her eyes glistened. Her hair was cut short which gave her a gentle look.
“Yes?” she answered with a hum.
“So…” he couldn’t help but fidget in worry, was he allowed to ask such a thing in the first place? He knew fully well that what his aunt was doing was for his best interests, for his sake.
Yet, it bugged him.
He wanted to see the other man desperately.
It nagged at him.
Like a gnawing frostbite that never seemed to go away.
“Speak up, Alberu. You know I’m willing to listen so take your time.”
Alberu looked at her, always supportive of him no matter what he wanted to do. Always watching, and he felt guilty about that.
Alberu gripped his arm, he told himself that he had to remain firm. This was just a simple and easy task, so what was he getting all anxious about?
“I think I found my soulmate,” Alberu blurted out, wanting to get it over with. It made him feel a bit too bizarre, a feeling he didn't enjoy. He thought a little about the man, his calming, and sarcastic attitude. It made him smile lovingly and softly, it was almost invisible.
When he saw Tasha’s eyes, his smile fell apart, she didn’t meet his eyes with the same gaze he did. Her face was instead painted with a base of shock, and another which was an even more unfavourable expression on it; outrage.
One glance is all it took for Tasha to assess the situation. She had already been informed by Taerang about his leaked identity, which in itself had been surprising. Tasha could smell the coffee and cookies off her nephew. She didn’t know how it got there since they had no coffee at home, and she knew her nephew didn’t drink coffee, and buttered chocolate cookies. It would have been plausible if he hadn’t come out of the bedroom.
She knew what this meant, the boy had found his soulmate, but she also knew one thing– you could have problems with your past lover. It was like any relationship, simply adding in the strong connection. It wasn’t that big of a deal as people made it up to be.
After all, her sister had also been in a similar kind of relationship and she easily got replaced. Zed had simply thrown her away when he realized that his soul mark had appeared again. It was plausible that the bad luck might have carried from the mother to the son. Even though deep down, she was sure that wasn’t the case. She was worried, and terribly, terribly protective of her nephew, for he was the only one part of her sister that had remained in the world of the living. Being a soulmate had led to her sister’s heartbreak and eventual death, and perhaps it wouldn’t be as severe in Alberu’s case, but he had suffered enough after his mother’s death, she concluded.
“You found a soulmate?” she asked, her expression now a bit less animated than her previous one, but Alberu could tell that she was not pleased one bit.
He had a rough idea why but he wasn’t all that into the details. He was young when his mother and ‘father’ divorced, and he knew how his mother had committed suicide after a weeks of the unusual event. After that, he knew how his life had spiralled down to. She died without gaining custody of her child because Alberu’s talents had been noteworthy and rather eye-catching and Zed thought the boy would fetch a pretty price as a showpiece.
He wasn’t wrong per se, but the exposure to the life of adults had dimmed his young eyes that had been previously filled with life. He had gotten used to going days without proper food and water, and that he wasn’t allowed anything as an emotional support. He wasn’t allowed to have a weakness, if he wanted to stay with his worth.
He had been locked, neglected, even abused if his scores or position went a bit under than perfect. Well, that was at first, then it escalated to him being the outsider of the ‘family’.
Alberu had noted at the ripe age of eighteen, the people he lived with were hypocrites. In private they would always say the opposite of what they said under the public eye.
‘The shame of this house.’
‘The joy of our family.’
‘You dirty leech. Shouldn’t you be working non-stop? You live here rent free anyway.’
‘He’s always such a darling brother of mine. I simply worry that he works too hard for his own good.’
‘Disgusting. That skin of yours looks so ugly, maybe it’d be better if we got rid of it’
‘He looks so handsome too! He looks just like father, well his skin tone doesn’t matter.’
‘Don’t you get it? You don’t have a place here.’
‘Even though he looks different, he fits right in. Exactly, it's petty to not care about someone who shares the same blood as your sons just because they have a different skin tone.’
They weren’t memories he would want to remember at all, even though they constantly played on his mind like a broken record player. Constantly.
That’s why he trusted his Aunt’s judgement, for she was the only one who had helped him get out of that hellhole. It was her acceptance that Alberu wanted the most.
Alberu nodded, in return to which Tasha’s unamusement became even more apparent with a long sigh. She was very reluctant to entrust her nephew in anyone’s hand, and the thought of him getting used made her boil over with rage, and so she simply cut off the communication between the two, by a few words, “Alberu, I don’t approve.”
***
Kim Rok Soo grumbled at the white noise that was playing on repeat in the background. He could hear the chattering that was going on between the two other men in the house. He laid on the makeshift bed until he heard a ringtone. A particular ringtone which made him sure of the person on the other line.
‘Basen.’
He stretched his hand out to reach his phone, still remaining tucked in his blanket and refusing to move. By the third ring of the phone, he had successfully maneuvered himself in a way that he could stay comfortable and pick up the phone. He finally received it.
“Hello?” The voice on the other end greeted Kim Rok Soo.
Kim Rok Soo, still groggy and voice still unsettled, spoke in a lower tone than his usual. It sounded synonymous to the croak of a frog, “Good morning Basen. What makes you call this early?”
Basen knew that tone belonged to his uncle, and he also knew that this was the tone of voice he had in the morning before he had even gotten up from bed. He’d found out so from the several sleepovers he had with him. Still it was odd to hear his voice this deep. Had his Ahjussi been drinking? “Uncle Rok Soo, how much did you drink last night?”
“Why do you ask?” Kim Rok Soo said, shuffling in the sheets, shifting his movements ever so slightly to stay within the warmth of the blanket that covered him up completely like a cocoon.
“Have you still not gotten up?” Basen asked, his tone a bit shocked.
Kim Rok Soo hummed to give an affirmative response.
Basen sighed, “Do you know what time it is?”
“It’s...” He slurred while reordering his position to face the clock. “Three.”
Basen sighed, his voice then went low as he turned his face away from his phone “Haaaa... What’s that Pen?”
Kim Rok Soo’s ears perked up, “Pen’s there?”
He could hear Basen crack up a bit, “Uncle Rok Soo, you attended the wedding, didn’t you? We’re married, so of course we’re living together.”
Kim Rok Soo relaxed again remembering the joyous event that had taken place a month ago, “Ah, yeah yeah.”
Basen slid the phone between his ear and shoulder, “Uncle, are you still out of it?”
Kim Rok Soo twisted his head, cocking it out of the blanket. “Maybe,” he yawned.
“Rok Soo-ya? You’re finally up?” Kim Rok Soo saw Lee Soo Hyuk standing in front of him.
“Um, yeah.” Kim Rok Soo lazily replied.
“Ah,” Basen said from the other end, “If Lee Soo Hyuk Ahjussi is there, why not give him the phone, and probably freshen up.”
Kim Rok Soo nodded and handed the phone to Lee Soo Hyuk, while informing the other person about his nephew, “It’s Basen, he wants to talk to you.”
Lee Soo Hyuk’s face quirked up to form a grin, “It’s been a long time since he’s talked to me, has he been busy with his lover?”
Kim Rok Soo looked over and casually answered,“Their honeymoon did get over a few weeks earlier. So it is a  possibility.”
Lee Soo Hyuk sighed while taking the phone from Kim Rok Soo, “Aiya, I really am getting old. Everyone around me is getting married or starting to date someone. Ah, the woes of an old man.”
He heard an annoyed voice from the far side of the kitchen, “Did you forget that you’ve been with your lover for over 15 years, Mr. old man?”
The mention of Lee Soo Hyuk’s lover made Kim Rok Soo think about his friend, “Ah, I need to talk about the details about the meeting with Beacrox.”
Lee Soo Hyuk turned to him, his head tilted to the right, “He has been talking about that too. Do you have something in mind for the day?”
Kim Rok Soo could feel the headache rushing over him like a tidal wave, “I'll talk later, I need to wash my face and brush.”
“Oh wait, before you go-” Lee Soo Hyuk stopped him, causing Kim Rok Soo to turn, “You kinda smell like aloe vera? I didn’t know you kept any plants here?”
Kim Rok Soo pulled his t-shirt to sniff it, indeed, it smelled like the said succulent. He furrowed his eyebrows. It was odd, but it was too much for his woozy head to think about.
He pulled himself out of the mattress and walked to the bathroom, lazily scratching his hay-like hair. His eyes lazily lolled around, scanning the surroundings of his own apartment as if it was something foreign. He sighed, standing there for a moment facing his reflection in the mirror.
He ran his fingers through the messy strands that gently lay on the shoulder, remembering Alberu’s fingers cold touch. They were hardened and felt like they had been holding a pen their entire life, never wanting to try anything else, though Kim Rok Soo thought that Alberu merely never got the time to engage in hobbies.
‘That’s not how hair gel works, hyung.’
He remembered the annoyed tone the man could endlessly fill his voice with. He splashed some water on his eyes, still wondering where the other had gone. It would be quite foolish to disappear if he were fearing rejection, if that is the reason the dark man had disappeared, he would think of the said man to be quite dense to not recognize Kim Rok Soo’s feelings towards himself.
***
Alberu tried to keep the volume down as he washed the dishes in the empty and eerily huge villa’s secluded kitchen. To be fair, it wasn’t empty, there were servants and Aunt Tasha was lounging in the living room.
His mind was currently occupied with his aunt’s reaction.
He didn’t expect such a strong rejection since he believed his aunt would be a little more liberal towards this aspect.
However, Alberu knew the reason why his aunt was overprotective since he was well aware of what happened to his mother. Sure, he understood why she didn’t want him to date Kim Rok Soo, but she also refused to acknowledge that his soulmate was different than his mother’s and it wasn’t fair to not give him a chance. Or at least give him the benefit of the doubt.
‘Bitten once, twice as shy, I guess.’ He thought, sighing.
He simply wanted to meet Kim Rok Soo, simply wanted to check something, a simple gut feeling.
An instinct.
Normally, he would have ignored it, but it was a sensation that he couldn’t help but dwell upon. It wasn’t gripping, more like a mild fever that had come over him. He thought that it was something that would easily go away and not bother him anymore, yet it stuck persistently, that it can’t help but get noticed no matter how much he tried to look the other way.
It felt real and that scared Alberu.
He didn’t hate the feeling of love.
It was just that, he was so scared of being involved with it, that it felt like he couldn’t breathe.
The so-called love he knew was only based on the last sole affection he’s gotten from his mother.
He believed that Kim Rok Soo wouldn’t be the kind of person to ‘love’ him. Alberu wasn’t the type to have gotten everything in his life in a neatly packaged bow, and that included his relationships all the more.
Love? He couldn't trust it nor did he have the guts to risk letting the feeling take over him.
Any relationship he tried to maintain didn’t end on a good note, for numerous reasons. Even though his face wasn’t shown and he had a fake surname, his previous partners always knew he was rich. His arranged marriage partners thought of him as a mere money milking tool or someone who would just settle for just a crumb of bread.
The idea of that appalled Alberu. Somehow he couldn’t think of it in a good light. He didn’t want to be the sort of person who would force someone to be with him just for his money.
If that was the case he was better off without anyone.
But why was it that he couldn’t forget about him?
That man, who had seen him in his most vulnerable state had simply accepted it. Had waved off the thought that he was odd or unbelonging. He had given him the chance to feel these new sets of emotions he thought he would never experience in his lifetime.
Unbeknownst to Alberu, his hands were working fast and intensely out of all the stress. Only when he heard a loud clang was he snapped back to reality. His eyes immediately darted to the cause of the noise, which was a plate that had slipped from his hands and had fallen into the sink.
Alberu stared at it for a bit, sighed and washed it.
It was a good thing it didn’t break.
After neatly placing it in the dryer, he walked out of the kitchen and took a seat in the hall on the coach facing his aunt’s.
She tore her eyes away from the book she was reading to face him. Tasha noticed the lost look in his eyes, and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Alberu blinked, turning his gaze away from the table and meeting his aunt’s, “Nothing. Absolutely nothing.” He said, picking up a book lying on the Pacini e Cappellini coffee table to read.
Tasha sighed, sticking a bookmark between her copy of ‘War and Peace’, marking her progress in rereading the classic, “Are you still bothered by it?”
Alberu tried to feign ignorance, “By what?”
“We both know what you’re thinking about.” Tasha knew that he wouldn’t outright address the topic. He was far too self constricted with her for that.
Alberu met her eyes, but still had his eyes glazed over, it was as if he actually had no idea of what his aunt was talking about, “Like I said, what?”
Tasha however, was having none of that, she knew Alberu since he was a baby albeit she was young during those turbulent times. She motioned her hand as if she was pointing to the person in question, “Your soulmate, whoever that may be.”
“Huh.” Alberu mused, making it painfully obvious for Tasha to tell he was unimpressed, “What about my soulmate?”
Tasha, also aware of his current ‘yearnings’ spoke without batting an eye, “You want to meet them.”
“I sure do, but there’s someone who's preventing that, isn’t there?” He said, finally keeping his book down and sending his aunt a glare that was trying very hard not to reveal its true intentions.
Tasha got annoyed at the misconception Alberu had of her. She was doing this for him. How couldn’t he not get it?“ You know that I’m doing this for your sake. Your mother died because–”
“–Of her soulmate.” Alberu completed her sentence. He had heard it for so many times he was sure that was what the next few words entailed. He sighed.
“Aunt,” He said in a chilling voice, he was the closest to his aunt but there was definitely a line that shouldn’t be crossed.
Not everything was about his mother. He was well aware how his mother’s death had unfolded but not everyone was like his father, not everyone was as egregious as that man.
“I understand your concerns but do remember.” He paused to take a good look at his aunt, “I am not my mother,” he took another pause “and I never will be.”
Alberu could never be his mother. His mother was pure, and charismatic, not to mention she was the incarnation of beauty itself. Never attempting any foul means, she tried hard. She died protecting him.
And he could never be, not even an inch close to being as great as her. Or so he believed.
Tasha looked the other way, “I know that…but it still scares me. What if they lose interest in you and desert you–”
Alberu sighed again. The next few words he had said out of the simple motivation to prove Tasha wrong about soulmates, and snag a lover in one quick move. “Alright, since you are so bothered by the fact that they’ll cheat on me or lose interest. Let me put forward the idea of a bet. I’ll not visit my soulmate for two months and after those two months, let’s see whether they get over me in that period of time.” ‘–well formally, I won’t be meeting him.’
Alberu thought about it for a moment. He would use himself and Kim Rok Soo as an experiment. He set a bet like that out of impulse to prove her wrong. Even though he wouldn’t mind if he had really moved on, a part of him wanted to know the outcome to all this as well.
If fate would really allow them to be together, or would it be another curse that had befallen since his mother’s time?
Would things be different?
He didn’t know the answer to that. That was why he did this. That was why he made this stupid bet to at least convince himself that it was alright for him to love, or just have believed in his Aunt’s words in the first place.
Alberu was not the type to easily trust people but this time he wanted to try.
He wanted to try and place a bit of his faith on that man.
Tasha, who was also right at the end of her wits from this conversation, agreed in a fit of confusion and annoyance with the flow of the conversation, wanting it to end, “Ok, fine. Let’s do just that. When should we start?”
Alberu asked, also getting riled up, “How about right this second?”
Tasha leaned back, “Alright then. For 2 months which start at 5pm December 8th, 2XXX until 5pm February 8th, 2XXX(+1). Deal?”
“Deal.”
“Ok then. Taerang, write this down.” Tasha crossed her arms together, her eyes still lingering at her nephew who broke eye contact.
“Yes ma’am.” The mostly stationary man, who had been sitting on the chair beside Alberu finally spoke.
‘Now that this was sorted,’ thought Alberu, ‘I have to contact him, I guess. Hoo boy, this is gonna be a whole different game to play.’

Ever since Alya found out about Marinette’s identity she managed to go from completely forgetting she knew to bombarding her with questions constantly.
Once, she had climbed the stairs to Marinette’s room to see Ladybug coming in from the skylight and immediately screamed out in shock. Marinette had to tell her parents it was a rouge spider and wouldn’t stop teasing Alya about it for weeks.
Another time, Alya spent the entire night that she was over asking Marinette even the most minuscule of questions.
“Who gave you the miraculous?”
“Does Tikki have organs?”
“Do you have to de-transform to pee?”
“Is your suit water resistant?”
“Do you get cold fighting akumas at night?”
Eventually they came up with a system. Alya could ask 5 Ladybug related questions a week. To make sure they were well used, Alya would write down every question she had and chose her 5 favorites every Friday.
It was times like these when Marinette was woefully reminded that Alya was in fact a reporter, and her inquisitive nature just came with it.
Her notebook was disguised as her reporter’s journal and if anyone found it they could assume it was just her random train of thought.
Marinette was never allowed to look in it, so as Alya wrote in it during class she attempted to sneak a peek. She tried to stealthily look at it through the corner of her eye, but Alya noticed almost immediately and laughed before she closed the notebook and nudged her to pay attention to class.
Not a second later, there a was a loud bang outside the school. Marinette tensed as Miss Bustier began to usher students out of the room and to the basement of the school for safety.
“Ayla you have to come up with an excuse for me.” She pleaded with big round eyes.
“Why?” Alya asked as Marinette facepalmed with a disappointed sigh. “Right right! Of course!”
Lately Alya seemed to be as absent minded and jittery as Marinette herself. Whenever the bluenette attempted to bring it up, Alya would redden and dismiss it entirely.
“Miss Bustier! I need Marinette to help me in the bathrooms.” Miss Bustier looked at them questioningly. “Lady problems!” Alya called as she dragged Marinette away before the teacher could respond.
Once they reached the bathrooms Alya didn’t let go of Marinette’s hand.
“Can I ask you a Ladybug related question?” Alya asked in an uncharacteristically small voice.
Marinette nodded and looked into her eyes, confused. Alya looked worried, her breath coming out in short bursts and eyebrows knit tightly.
“When you get hurt, as Ladybug, does the suit cushion the blow? Does the miraculous cure heal you?”
Alya’s hand shook lightly in hers as she said this. Marinette put her other hand on top of Alya’s effectively sandwiching her hand between her own.
“It’s okay, I’m used to it. The suit helps a bit, but there are some risks I just have to take. Besides, it not like I’m all alone out there. I have Chat Noir. I have a team if I need one.” Marinette grabbed Alya’s chin so that the girl would meet her eyes. “You don’t have to worry about me.”
Alya blushed and moved her chin from Marinette’s hand, as well as let go of her other.
“Okay.” She said, her voice returning. “Okay girl. Now go, you have a city to save.”
Alya pushed Marinette toward the door. Marinette wished more than anything she could stay and comfort her best friend, but Alya was right. So instead, she called out her transformation phrase and ran out the door.
As she left, Alya couldn’t help but sigh. Marinette always looked so graceful as she transformed.
After Marinette was gone, she waited a minute before running out behind her and whipping out her phone.
“Hi bugheads! An akuma was spotted somewhere outside of Collège Françoise Dupont and I’m here to give you the inside scoop.” And there she went, hoping to locate the akuma and her best friend as quickly as she could.
———————————
After the akuma, Marinette de-transformed and fed Tikki.
“I think that was sweet of Alya to care so much.” Tikki giggled as she took a big bite of her cookie.
“Yeah she’s been acting stranger than usual lately. Do you think it’s because she knows I’m Ladybug? She’s been nervous and timid and just the complete opposite of herself. Maybe she’s intimidated by me now?”
Tikki let out another giggle. “Oh I’m sure it’s not that. You know Alya. She’s not intimidated by anyone. I think it’s something else.”
“Like what?” Marinette questioned, feeling that Tikki knew exactly what it was and was holding back.
Tikki just silently munched on her cookie as Marinette glared at her.
Marinette heard the gravel crunch behind her and she ushered Tikki into her bag before darting around.
The sudden movement startled Alya who was directly behind her. Now that Marinette had turned around they were practically nose to nose. Marinette could smell Alya’s watermelon scented lip balm and Alya eyed Marinette’s lips before blushing and backing up.
“Hey girl, we should probably get back to class and apologize to Miss Bustier for disappearing.” She said quickly before grabbing Marinette’s wrist.
Marinette pulled her wrist away and crossed her arms stubbornly.
“No, first we need to talk about how close you were to that akuma.” Marinette huffed. “I was worried about you getting hurt and I couldn’t do a thing about it while fighting.”
Alya turned around with a cocky smirk on her face. Looking Marinette up and down, she couldn’t get over how adorable she looked when she was mad.
“Aww was the miraculous Ladybug worried about one measly civilian?” She teased as she walked back to Marinette’s side and threw an arm over her shoulder, attempting not to shudder at the warmth at their contact points. “I was fine. It was just Mr. Ramier again, and I’m not exactly scared of pigeons. Besides, it’s nothing your cure couldn’t fix.”
Marinette attempted to hold her resolve, but Alya could feel her soften under her touch.
“Still, I hate when you cross paths with the akumas, it’s like you’re asking for their attention.” Marinette let Alya lead her back to school, arms still crossed as Alya was draped over her shoulders.
“Makes great content though! Just wait until you see the action shots I got of you and Chat Noir. No way Nadia Chamakh could beat that!”
Marinette smiled as Alya gushed about the article she was going to write later that day. As Marinette put her arm around the small of Alya’s back she admired her. She could get so passionate about her blog, and that passion was why Marinette loved her so much.
———————————
“Are you sure you don’t want to hang out with Nino today? You’ve been with me almost every day for the last two weeks. It’s not that I mind, I love the company. I just don’t want to be stealing you.”
Marinette and Alya were out for juice after school. Marinette was nervously playing with her straw. She noticed how distant her friend was from Nino and figured this might just be the best way to bring it up.
“Actually Nino and I aren’t together anymore.” Alya replied casually as Marinette choked on her drink.
“I’m sorry, what?” She asked, after Alya patted her back a few times and she composed herself.
“We broke up a few weeks ago. It was mutual, neither of us did anything. We’re still friends.” Alya replied, taking a sip from her drink.
Marinette was confused. Alya and Nino were great together. Even after Marinette decided to give up on Luka and Adrien, they made her believe love could still be beautiful.
“Okay but why? I just don’t get it you guys were amazing together. Why didn’t you tell me?” Marinette couldn’t believe how nonchalant Alya was being about this.
“We broke up because, well, I have a crush on someone else.” Alya blushed. “Part of the reason I didn’t tell you is because there’s another thing I’ve been working up the nerve to tell you.”
Now it was Alya’s turn to nervously fiddle. She brought her hands beneath the table and picked at her fingers as she but her cheek.
“What do you need to tell me?” Marinette asked softly, in an attempt to ease Alya’s nerves. “You can tell me anything, you know.”
“Marinette I-“ Alya’s voice broke off as she lost her nerve. “Marinette I’m bisexual.”
Marinette’s heart warmed at the confession. She still felt like Alya was holding something back, but the fact that she trusted her enough to come out made her giddy.
“Oh Alya!” Marinette stood up and crossed to the other side of the table to throw her arms around her. Since Alya was sitting, Marinette placed herself in the girl’s lap so she could throughly smother her.
“That’s amazing! I’m so happy for you!”
Alya let out a deep breath she didn’t realize she had been holding in.
“You aren’t weirded out?” Alya asked, even though she knew Marinette to be the most accepting girl in the world, it was still terrifying.
“Of course not.” Marinette said as she climbed off Alya’s lap and returned to her seat. “It’s not like I’m entirely straight either.”
Now it was Alya’s turn to choke on her drink.
“Really?” Alya exclaimed with wide eyes. “Why haven’t you said anything?”
“I don’t know. I just don’t really feel the need to come out. I’m not sure what I am, but I’ve definitely had my share of girl crushes.” She said it like it was no big deal and Alya couldn’t help but laugh.
“Well god, if I knew that I would’ve just told you sooner.” Alya sighed.
Suddenly Marinette got a look in her eye that made Alya uneasy. It was a familiar look of determined curiosity with a smile that made her stomach flutter with butterflies.
“Sooo,” Marinette began. “You mentioned a crush?”
Alya immediately regretted her words.
“Now that I’ve given up entirely on my love life it gives me plenty of time to delve into yours. Schemes, plots, you name it, I can do it.” Marinette moved her now empty drink to the side and out her elbows in the table so she could lean closer.
Alya blushed, Marinette was so close she could count the freckles along her nose. She wished she could kiss every one as she did, but she immediately pushed that thought away as she tried to focus on the situation at hand.
“I... uh... it’s... well...” Alya tried and failed to get it out. It was just too much. She could smell Marinette’s perfume (strawberries and a hint of chocolate), see Marinette’s soft pale skin so close to her, and her mouth felt as though it were filled with cotton.
“Hey it’s okay.” Marinette returned back to her normal position in her seat and reached for Alya’s hand on the table. “You don’t have to tell me right now. When you’re ready I know you will.”
Alya swore Marinette was trying to kill her. Her hand was so soft and warm against her own and she wished more than anything she could just tell her. Instead she gave a small gratuitous smile to the beauty across from her.
“Now, I know it’s Friday, so what do you say to spending the night at your place and you can ask all of you questions?” Marinette proposed once she noticed Alya had finished the last of her juice.
“Sounds great.”
————————-
“Have you ever used your powers for personal gain?” Alya read from her notebook.
They were cross legged on her bed after dinner and Marinette had just gotten out of the shower.
“Is that seriously what you’re gonna use your last question on? Kind of a boring one don’t you think?” Marinette raised an eyebrow questioningly.
She looked adorably cozy, with her oversized pink hoodie and pink sweatpants to match. Alya shook her head slightly to clear her mind.
“Answer the question!” Alya pouted.
“Okay okay!” Marinette said begrudgingly.
And so Marinette told her about Adrien’s party. The Bubbler had played music for Adrien and Chloe to slow dance to and the lucky charm helped her change the song.
Alya loved hearing Marinette’s point of view of Ladybug related things. Stories about akumas or patrols were always so interesting as she told them. She was just so smart and quick thinking, while still being the same clumsy and kind hearted girl that Alya adored.
“Alright well that’s about it.” Alya said as she closed her notebook. “I’m gonna go take a shower and then maybe we can watch a movie?” She suggested as she climbed off the bed.
“As long as it isn’t anything scary!” Marinette called to the girl descending the stairs.
Once Alya was gone Tikki came out from whenever she was silently eating.
“Hey Marinette why is your name covered in hearts all over this book?”
Marinette turned to see Tikki looking through Alya’s notebook.
“Don’t touch that!” She said as she snatched the book away. “Some things are private!” She hugged the book close to her chest and gave the kwamii a pointed look.
Still, her curiosity got the best of her and she pulled the book away from her chest to look at the page. Sure enough, it was filled with random questions as well as doodles of Marinette’s name all over with little hearts.
Marinette giggled. “Why would Alya do this?” She asked Tikki, who was looking over her shoulder beside her.
Tikki couldn’t help but sigh at how oblivious her holder was. “I don’t know Marinette, but you should probably put that back before Alya gets out of the shower.”
“Alright I won’t look anymore. It’s just that this is the kind of thing I used to do when.... oh.” Marinette went silent as the revelation hit her. “The kind of thing I used to do when I had a crush on Adrien.”
“Sorry, did you see where I left my hair tie?” Marinette yelped and immediately threw the notebook away from her as Alya entered the room.
“Yeah it’s in the lamp by the dresser! I mean by the lamp on the dresser!” She squeaked out.
“Okayyy....” Alya said confused by her friend’s behavior. “You good?”
“Yep! Never better! Just me... hanging out with Tikki... like I do sometimes.” Marinette rubbed the back of her neck and looked around the room, avoiding her friends eyes as she turned bright red.
Alya just shrugged before leaving the room.
Marinette let out a sigh before grabbing a pillow and burying her head into it to scream.
———————————
The rest of the night was... odd to say the least.
Marinette couldn’t understand why she couldn’t look Alya in the eye anymore. What had changed? She could do it easily hours ago. (She knew exactly why. Alya liked her... and she... well she wasn’t exactly sure how she felt.)
In the end, Marinette was glad they had decided to watch a movie. While Alya was deeply invested in the movie Marinette put on (“What do you mean you’ve never seen Ponyo!?) Marinette couldn’t help but focus on how Alya’s body pressed against her, every point of contact setting her nerves on fire.
They were laying comfortably on Alya’s bed, and under the glow of the television they settled into their usual positions. Alya would lay down and the smaller girl would lay in her arms on her chest.
Before, Marinette would think nothing of it and quickly fall asleep, but now all she could think about was her racing heart and how calm Alya’s sounded throughout the entire movie. Over time she calmed down, laughing at Alya’s comments and supplying a few of her own.
“Marinette.” Alya whispered, in case she was asleep. The movie credits were playing in the background and Marinette had just began to drift off.
“Mhm?” Marinette replied, coming back from her nearly asleep state. She removed her arm from around Alya’s waist to rub the sleep from her eyes.
“Did I wake you?” Alya was still whispering which brought a warmth to her chest that Marinette couldn’t understand.
“No.” She lied. “What’s up?”
“I’m bored, can we do something?”
“Alyaaa” Marinette whined, snuggling deeper into her side, “it’s so late.”
Alay laughed and rubbed Marinette’s head. “It’s barely 10, you just sleep too much.”
Marinette grumbled before begrudgingly pulling herself up from the warm embrace. “Well fine, what do you want to do?” She crossed her arms over her chest while Alya detangled herself from the covers.
“Do my makeup?” She asked, walking over to turn off the television.
Marinette blushed at the thought of such close contact. It’s not like they hadn’t done this before, but Marinette wasn’t a fool, she knew what the fluttering in her chest meant all too well.
“O-okay.” She got up quickly, hoping she could hide her reddening face.
As Alya climbed up onto her bed, Marinette went to grab the makeup bag.
Alya hadn’t mentioned anything about her odd behavior so far, and as much as Marinette would’ve liked to attribute that to her amazing acting skills, she knew it was just because Alya wouldn’t want to do anything to make her feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.
And so they sat across from each other for about 20 minutes, joking and laughing while Marinette played around with her makeup.
“Marinette I swear, if I look in the mirror and don’t like what I see I’m going to kill you.” Alya said as Marinette reached for the black eye pencil.
“Oh be quiet you always look cute, besides I saw someone do this in a video I wanna see how it looks. Now stop talking, I can’t do your lips if you keep moving them.”
“I’m sorry, you’re putting that on my lips?” Alya asked with a shocked laugh.
Marinette joined in on laughing before shushing her yet again.
As she lined her lips, she couldn’t help but admire them. Round, full, and so magnetic. She then made the mistake of looking up into Alya’s eyes.
They were bright with laughter, but the minute they made eye contact they softened. Marinette swore she felt the energy in the air around then. She cursed to herself in her head before giving in.
Since they were so close, she didn’t have to lean far to meet Alya’s lips. At first, Alya let out a soft breath, almost like a gasp, before slotting her lips between Marinette’s.
Marinette could taste the hint of toothpaste and something unique to Alya. Her lips were softer than they looked and it felt so so good to give into the thoughts that had been going through her head for the last few hours.
Marinette’s hands went up to cup Alya’s face and Alya brought her’s up to cover them.
After a minute Alya pulled away slightly, hands still holding Marinette’s in place.
For a second they just sat there, Marinette caught her breath while admiring how pretty Alya looked with her freshly kissed lips. She looked up at Alya’s eyes to see them dancing along her face. Eventually their eyes met again.
Alya was the first to break the silence.
“That was... wow. I mean, wow, but what was that?” Alya slowly removed her hands and sat them in her lap, face going from blissful to what Marinette could only describe as confusingly lovesick.
“I read your notebook earlier.” Marinette blurted out. “I didn’t mean to I swear! It’s just that Tikki saw something and showed it to me and- well” Marinette took a moment to steal herself. “Alya am I the crush you didn’t want to talk about?”
Alya wouldn’t meet her eyes and Marinette could see a blush. Her heart swelled.
“I knew it.” Marinette tilted her head to catch Alya’s eyes. “It makes so much sense! The way you’ve been acting lately. I- I think I like you too”
Alya’s eyes widened in shock, still she said nothing.
“I didn’t realize that I did, but we’ve always been so close I never really thought about how good it felt to be around you. How all I wanted to do was be close to you, as close as I could get, always.”
There was a beat of silence. She cupped Alya’s face again, this time to turn her head to face her.
“Say something?” Marinette asked, nerves setting in after baring her feelings so openly.
“I didn’t want to say anything because you’ve been dealing with so much. With Adrien, with Luka,” Alya looked down as Marinette’s hand returned to her side. “With being Ladybug. I’ve been in love with you for a while, I didn’t want to admit it to you, admit it to myself, I didn’t want to scare you away.”
“Alya-“
“I need to finish. If I don’t do it now I don’t know if I’ll get the nerve to do it again.” The girl laughed nervously. “I’ve never felt this way so strongly before. Usually I don’t have any trouble telling anyone anything.
So imagine how confused I was when every time I tried to tell you I could barely breathe. It hurt so bad, so I pushed it down, I helped you with your boy problems and for a while I could ignore it.
I convinced myself the feelings were gone. I started dating Nino, and for a while everything was okay. But then you broke down, after you told me everything, we got closer, and it just felt like all my walls broke down. I love you Marinette.
I love how insanely clumsy you are. I love that cute little face you get when you’re annoyed, or how you will go out of your way to help anyone, even Chloe. I love your eyes, I love your smile, I love you.”
Marinette just sat there in shock as Alya poured her heart out. How had she felt this way all along, and how had Marinette not noticed sooner?
“I understand if you don’t feel the same way, or if we can’t be together because of everything you’re dealing with, but I just had to let it out.”
The minute Alya finished talking, Marinette pulled her into her arms and held her as tight as she could.
“The reason I can’t be with anyone else is because I can’t be honest with them. Alya, I can tell you anything and I wish you knew sooner that you can do the same. Even if I didn’t feel the same way, I promise it wouldn’t have hurt our friendship.
But I do feel the same way. I can’t imagine being as close to anyone as I am with you. I can’t believe it took me this long to realize, but I love you too. I really do.”
She felt Alya’s arms tighten around her, and they sat like that for a while, listening to each other breathe, enjoying the feeling of the other in their arms, no longer holding back any feelings.
Marinette pulled away to look at Alya, and she laughed.
“You’re right, that eyeliner in your lips doesn’t look as good as I thought it would.”
Alya let out an offended laugh. “Last time I checked, you said I always look cute.” She teased.
“I never said you didn’t still look cute.”
This time, Alya was the one to lean in for the kiss.

You and Me II || Harry Potter
Pairing: Draco Malfoy x Slytherin/Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: After years at Hogwarts, your life would really begin and nothing could be better than to start this new phase with your official birthday party, but the next day does not turn out quite as expected.
Warnings: For those who haven't read the first part yet, Tom Riddle is not Voldemort in this fic. The first wizard war was against another wizard but its consequences are still valid! Just pure fluff and an implied bit of smut.
Word Count: 3,0k
A/N: This is obviously the part two of You and Me, but it’s not necessarily related, so you can just read this one as a one shot but the first part gives you a lot of context for this, ok? ok then. (Happy really early Birthday Katie! I'd like to post this on your bday but I was too anxious for this. Hope you like it!)
Part I
Tumblr media
04/27/1997
"You're really not well, how can a person be in this state when their birthday is so close? I've tried to understand and still can't", the brunette's bored voice made itself present in the room for the 4th time in the day and as I prepared my answer, she held up her hand and delivered her own hypothesis first. "You can't be sad that we're finishing seventh year, I swear for Merlin's sake, if that's the case, I'll...", the words slipped slowly from her mouth, as did the calmness remaining in her.
"Even though anything you have to say sounds like a lot of fun, it's not the case. I really want to start my own life, have my own job and all that. I'm just thinking a lot lately, too many things have happened, we've all changed so much", I didn't bother to look at her, still focused on the ceiling painted like a blue summer sky and she didn't mind asking permission to lie next to me on the bed.
"We had to grow up eventually, although some took too long, in fact, I can point out for sure that half the boys still act like kids", we both laughed until our bellies ached.
"Well, good for us then because Draco and Blaise are not on that list and don't even dare look at me like that, you know he's changed a lot", I heard her amused giggles and already imagined what was coming.
"I wasn't even going to say anything this time, it's really impressive how you just stick up for him, I hope it's the same with me", I frowned and looked at her as if she was out of her mind, and there were chances she really was. "Since when do you need protection from someone?".
"I never said I needed it, but it's nice to know I have it", she shrugged without looking me in the eye and I decided it would be better to change the subject, because nothing good ever comes out of a Pansy, who is unseasy in any sense.
"So, about your...," she started. "Pansy, what do you…”, I said at the same time, but I just smiled and waited in silence for what she had to say.
"I was going to ask about your parents, you're going to have to live with them in a month, so how are you feeling about that?", she just glanced at me.
"That's been going through my mind, I have no idea what it's going to be like but it's going to be better than anything that's happened in the past, that's enough for now", I sighed.
"You know you can come to my house, right? You can hide there", I agreed with a smile and we continued in a comfortable silence.
04/29/1997
7:30 A.M.
 On the morning of my birthday, I woke up in the best possible way. The warmth emanating from Draco's body and the thick blanket kept me unfazed by the freezing wind coming in through the window. I didn't want to move and I didn't need to.
I sighed satisfied with the position I was in, curled up under the blanket hugging the blond's bare torso, with no responsibility or obligation other than to enjoy my day.
"Morning, love", his arms pressed me tighter against him, I could feel his calm breathing and somehow, I felt calmer too.
I left a few kisses on his bare skin and the goosebumps they caused on him made me break out into a little smile. "Good morning, love", I whispered leaning back against him.
"Come here, let me give you a proper happy birthday", he gave my hair a quick pat and lifted my chin to look at him.
 As soon as I crawled closer to him, his arms entwined around my waist and pulled me even closer.
"Happy birthday my love", he left several little kisses on my face and neck before moving to my lips, but our moment was interrupted by a noise on the window.
 A gray owl incessantly beat its beak on the window pane, we looked at each other, neither of us wanted to get up, but it would be too cruel to leave the poor thing waiting there.
"It's my birthday, I have the right to ask you to go", I gave a brief kiss on his lips before letting him go to the war field.
 I stayed warm while he opened the window further so that the owl could get through, as well as the icy wind.
He rushed back to my side in time to see me tear the seal off the letter I received.
"It's from my parents, they are really working hard this year. I have to admit that", I told him as I scanned the paper.
"At least they realized what a great daughter they have, she's a little mean but still great", I was too busy reading the letter to notice his cunning and more icy than usual hands pass around me.
 I jumped out of bed as I felt the shock of our skin contact and he had the audacity to laugh, I had to control myself too much not to grab my wand.
"Draco Lucius Malfoy, you are dead now", I climbed into bed with my pillow, ready to fight.
20:00 P.M.
 A few hours later, I was getting ready for the party in the Slytherin common room, everyone was invited since after this stressful year, a party would be nice and I couldn't physically kick anyone out.
I was barely concentrating in my makeup, Nala was running back and forth between my feet wanting attention and I couldn't give it to her or for the next few hours, no matter how much it broke my heart.
"For Merlin's sake... Nala! Sit!", it saddened me to see that she obeyed but still wanted to come running to me, that deserved a good reward.
 I fed her one of her favorite cookies and petted her shiny fur before going back in front of the mirror. I checked several times to make sure I was ready.
"See you later my love, mma will be back soon", I waved to her and went downstairs before I gave in.
 There were already a lot of people when I arrived, the new song by The Weird Sisters was so loud that Pansy didn't hear me, even though I called out 2 times as she passed by on the other side of the room.
As I made my way through, many friends stopped to congratulate me and also to chat a bit, by the time I realized what I was supposed to do, more than 10 minutes had passed.
"Have you guys seen Pansy? I was looking for her", I said before turning my own glass of buttered beer over and leaving it in Tom's hand. "See you guys later", my eyes were glued on the blond guy standing in the corner and in less than a second, I was walking towards him.
"What the hell am I supposed to do with that?!", I heard his indignant voice but ignored it along with all the other people, who tried to talk to me on my way to him.
"You know, the delay is only elegant because it doesn't last more than 5 minutes", he was smiling even though he hated tardiness.
"Maybe for most people, a queen is never late love, the others were too early. Especially when it's her birthday", I stopped in front of him. "You haven't given me my present yet, I'm waiting", I pointed to my own lips.
 He chuckled and looked at me for a few seconds before he said  something, even with the lights flashing I could still see the twinkle in his eyes, which still reflected mine equally.
"Are you asking this as a gift around too?", his smile widened as did mine, he took a step closer.
"Does that mean you're not going to give it to me? I had high expectations for this one in particular", something in his gaze changed, I could clearly tell but it was gone as quickly as it appeared.
"That particular one can wait, right now, I have my main gift", he took his hands off his back and in them was a green velvet median box with silver details.
 I was almost breathless just admiring the package once it was in my hands. To top it off, a green silk bow and I had the impression that he had made it himself.
When I opened it, my jaw dropped. A silver necklace with an emerald heart carefully displayed in the box.
"Draco, you really didn't have to give me something expensive", he didn't answer me, instead took the necklace and helped me put it on.
"It seemed like an appropriate gift, now that we will no longer be living by Slytherin rules, it’s a nice way to say goodbye", I didn't think twice before I kissed him.
"I love you, I'll never get tired of saying that", I whispered between kisses. "You won't forget that, right?", I sighed as he brushed his lips across the skin of my neck.
"I have no reason to forget love, I...", we were interrupted by a forced cough behind me.
"Why don't you two just go into a room? No one has to see this scene", Blaise's unmistakable voice sounded and I felt my boyfriend giggle, not moving out of position.
"You can go after your girlfriend instead of getting in our way, wouldn't that be a brilliant idea?", I didn't see what happened, but a nice answer wouldn't be."So where were we honey?", he raised his eyes to meet mine.
"We better save that for the end of the party love, wasn't that your idea?", I pulled away from him and took his hand. "You have a whole party to enjoy."
"I already regret that decision, thanks for reminding me", he mumbled that and a few other things I couldn't hear.
07/01/1997
7:00 A.M.
"I still can't believe this is our last breakfast at Hogwarts", Astoria commented amidst the silence that had formed at our table.
"I still can't believe it's really over, it seems like any minute now I'm going to wake up and be back in third year", Pansy added.
"Well, I hope you'll make better decisions if you go back there tonight. No one forgot the hair Pan", my remark made everyone laugh for the first time in the day, a bit of pride grew inside me.
"Just because Hogwarts is over doesn't mean we're going to split up. None of you have any right to be this down today", Theo said and I was forced to smile as was everyone else.
"I was glad to be rid of you, at no point I was sad," Blaise muttered but we could all hear him and we all laughed once again.
8:00 A.M.
"What are you thinking?" he was with his eyes closed leaning against the train window, but I knew he wasn't asleep.
"How familiar everything here is, the worn leather of the seat, the smell of candy in the hallway and of trees coming in through the window. Other things will be familiar 7 years from now, it's just weird to think about it," he continued in the same position but held out his hand to me.
"That's true but I feel better knowing that we will continue to be each other's constant," I intertwined our fingers and we continued like that until we arrived.
11:00 A.M.
"It's time for the gifts, we prefer to give you personally. I believe you will like it", my mother said as soon as we sat down on the couch in our living room.
 I smiled not knowing how to respond, since I usually got the same thing every year, money or more paint, and I was pretty sure they didn't choose in person.
"Go ahead, open it. We decided to give two separate presents this year, the pink wrapping is mine and the purple one is your father's", the two boxes were right next to me on the couch, so why was I hesitating so much to pick them up?
 A lot was going on in my head, they have changed a lot in the last year but why? I could be dreaming of the ideal day, but no dream was as vivid as this one.
I took a deep breath and opened the pink first, I expected to find anything but my stuffed bunny, he was washed and clean, different from how I remembered, but still the same.
"I thought I lost or tore it a long time ago", I managed to say as I hugged him like one who finds an old friend, but he was beyond that.
"He was really in a rough state, but I was able to fix him. It was in one of the boxes in the basement, remember how you got it?", I agreed again, a wave of memories washed over me.
My parents had just arrived home from a business trip, it was the first time I had been alone at home without them.
"Mommy, Daddy!", I ran down the stairs as fast as my little legs would allow and threw myself into my father's arms, not caring about his wet coat, which soon became even wetter. "You promi-promised that you would be back soon”.
"Oh my love, something unexpected has happened. We were never going to leave you alone for so long," her hands wiped away my tears and took me in her lap. "So, for you never have to be alone again, we brought a little friend, he will always keep you company when we have to leave."
That wasn't enough to calm me down but it made me curious enough to stop crying, I didn't have any friends before that.
 I hurried to open the other package but there was only an empty picture frame with no photo inside.
Before I could open my mouth to ask for an explanation, shapes began to appear from the black background.
I recognized the picture, me still a baby in my mother's arms and my father behind her, hugging us both but as soon as I blinked, it was gone.
Another picture formed in its place, I was older, about two or three years old, this one I had never seen. I was on my mother's lap holding a drawing that I had made and possibly looked terrible.
More pictures appeared and disappeared but I didn't wait to see them all at that moment.
"I loved these gifts...thank you Mom and Dad," I made a great effort to hold back the tears as I hugged them both. "They are the best presents I have ever gotten."
23:00 P.M.
"What are you two doing out there at this time of night?! Draco, have you been drinking now?", Narcisa gave us another stern look before opening the door and shoving us inside.
 We walked in almost tripping over the living room rug, laughing at each other, to the point where tears formed in our eyes.
"Shhhhhh, my dad must be working... uhhhhhh, he's not going to like this, u-um," his hand covered my mouth.
I pushed his hand away from my face. “Me?Shut up? You're practically screaming you idiot!".
 "You two, I don't want another peep out of you. Come up quietly. Your father doesn't like to be interrupted," she whispered, but it was enough for us to agree without hesitation.
"Yes, Captain, I mean, ma'am," he pulled me up the stairs before her patience ran out.
07/02/1997
14:00 P.M.
"What do you mean, you don't remember what happened?", the blond was clearly trying hard not to laugh and I sighed, still under the blanket.
"I don't remember Draco, did your mother really not hate me? I can't believe we came here...", even though no one was watching me, I started to blush, or was it just the fever? There's no way to be sure now.
"That could never happen, she made sure to request your favorite tea. Now get out of there before it gets cold", he tried to pull on my blanket but I used all the rest of my strength not to let him.
"Noooo, out there that's too cold. Come here, it's too cold for you too", I took one of my hands from the comfortable warmth to pull him to me. "You didn't have to get up so early to get this", I whispered but soon after started coughing.
"There must be a potion to help you, I'll just get it and then...", he was ready to get up from the bed but I didn't let go of his arm.
"I just want you, please stay here? The elf will bring it anyway", before he could protest, I covered him with the blanket. "You're not well either, let's just lay down for now".
 He opened his mouth to deny it again but all that came out was a sneeze, after this he just gave up and lied down too. We were both screwed but at least we were together, right? I tried to think positive.

Full fic bellow! content warning for trauma, relating to  the Festival.
By the time they had managed to leave Looky Looky at My Cookie, being around the two teens felt like a hurricane. When Stress managed to convince the two to get something to eat- not that cookies and cake were exactly a healthy breakfast- that certainly hadn’t slowed them down from bouncing off the walls.
Though wary at first, Tommy couldn’t get himself to turn down free goods, without even being accused of stealing. While Grian had been digging through an enderchest, finding payment for the goods, Tommy and pulled Tubbo along to gawk at the builds.
“I don’t fucking get it! Why don’t you guys just, steal shit? I don’t see anyone here to stop that! Or- what’s stopping someone from griefing?” Tommy turned, eyes narrowed on the short brunette woman.
Stress merely tilted her head, brows knitted together in confusion. “We’re a whitelist server, Love! Of course none of us would steal. We’re on a mooshroom island, so we don’t have any worries about any creepers or the like, either.” She had explained, much to the boy’s frustration.
“Yeah, but if someone wanted to, they could just fuckin’ come here and steal! I mean, why would anyone care? Or how would you even notice, you all seem loaded.” He scoffed in frustration.
Tubbo, at his side, laughed. “That’s the coolest part, Tommy! They don’t worry about that! That’s why, like, they’re so cool! No one disrupts eachother or steals, so people can just..Work, and do crazy shit!” They gawked, clapping their hands as they bounced in place.
“I’ve always meant to go back and explore one of the replica worlds you guys put out. The fact that after you’re all finished, you just- put out the code? So others can make replicas of just- such intimate places? And experience it and walk through it? That’s so cool.” Tubbo finally stopped, having nearly ran out of breath.
That earned a flustered laugh out of Stress, nodding along. “Oh, I agree. I only got to join the Hermits two worlds back, on Hermitcraft Five! Me and Zedaph- oh, is he a something- were the new Hermits up until Grian finally joined us, last world.”
“New Hermit is definitely a heavy torch to carry,” Grian would chirp in, emerging from the shop. “Gotta commit as much chaos as physically possible. Make a good name for yourself.” The brit finished with a wolfish grin, unruly bangs falling past grey, almost purple eyes that glanced between the teens.
“He’s got a point,” Stress snorted, nodding. “If you’re ever bored during your stay, no Hermit are short on stories. Anywho, Grian, you got the spending diamonds for the two?” She turned towards the man- not even a hair taller than herself.
“Yep, of course. Here you two go, I don’t have all my diamonds on me, but this should help cover just about whatever you need.” Pulling out the diamond icon from his tablet, he dropped a numbered amount to both, being deposited into their system. “W- what!” Tubbo exclaimed, pulling out a diamond from their system. “Surely not. Is my tablet reading this right? A stack of diamonds?” They gawked, clutching onto the jewel.
Tommy merely screeched, pressing his tablet against his chest. “Holy fucking SHIT-”
“Jeez does this feel like a language moment-” another voice chimed.
The boy went rigid. Tommy’s head snapping in the direction, as Tubbo nearly jumped out of their skin in surprise. Stood by an igloo- out of place in the clashing mycelium-grass island- was an equally odd man.
Platinum white hair held back(mostly) by a well-worn black headband, a silver plate on the front reading off NHO. A faded, dull green- littered with patches, pins, and buttons- and most unnerving, a black mask covering most of their face. And- most notably- was the pair of slick, glistening snowy owl wings sprawled behind them.
The white-haired figure paused, shifting their weight awkwardly. “Uh, hi.” The guy gave a small wave, expression unreadable past mismatched black-and-red eyes. The man’s hair barely even allowed for those to be viewable- aiding in his masquerade, made the combination of mask-and-bangs shield most of the visible emotion from the newcomers.
“Hey, Etho!” Grian chirped, pleasantly pleased by the appearance of the shady figure. For some reason that Tommy, yet again, doesn’t quite understand, Tubbo gasps.
“Holy- you’re Etho? Like, Ethos Lab?  Oh, oh Void, I spent so much time watching so many of your old redstone videos! It’s what got me so interested in it!” They grinned.
Oh Prime, who doesn’t this place have? Tommy scoffed at the thought, eyes narrowing on the figure. What’s with the scary mask people always being the ones getting popular, and shit-
“Oh, thanks. Always happy to hear, there’s always a use for more redstone users. Uh, looks like you got a bit of a tour going on?” The man- Etho, turned towards Grian and Stress.
“Yep! We wanted to check in on them, I know you heard from the announcement the run down.” Stress grinned, glancing towards the teens. “These two are Tommy and Tubbo. Glad to see you have some idea about Etho, already. He’s always bound to be around somewhere.”
Tommy scoffed, eyeing the man, a few inches shy of his own height. “Hi, and shit.” He sniffed, crossing his arms.
Etho shuffled in place, nodding. “Uh, yeah. Language, by the way.” He sheepishly huffed, running a hand through his hair. “Welcome, for however long you guys stay. ..And if I may recommend, make sure you head down to Shade-E E’s. Quick profits all around.” He added, pointing with his thumb behind him, towards the dark mansion.
The blond kid raised a brow, tilting his head.  Prime, what is up with this guy.  “Excuse me?” Tommy scoffed.
Grian groaned, rolling his eyes. “Etho. Please. The amount of glass i’ve picked up coming out of the District portal.” He glared pointedly towards the man.
“Mhmm..I don’t see what there is to be so upset over. I think I'm providing a very generous service, to our server.” He snickered, quirking an eyebrow.
Pointedly sending a scolding glare towards Etho, Stress turned towards the two teens. “C’mon, now. Mind that Mr. Ice Queen, now.” She huffed, fondness seeping into her voice.
“I know when I’m unwanted,” Etho chuckled, holding up gloved hands in mock-defense. See you two ‘round. You too, Tubbo, Tommy.” He’d nod towards each person as he named them, before a rocket was summoned to his hand. And, he was off with a trail of smoke.
At the poof and small bang from the minor explosive was all it took for an incident to form. Tubbo cringed, visibly flinching before they curled in on themself, ducking their head down as their arms clung around their head, their ears covered.
Tommy, on the otherhand, nearly jumped a foot in the air before throwing himself on Tubbo.  The two went tumbling to the ground with a huff.
The two Hermits shot up, turning towards the teens. “Oh Gord, hey, it’s okay, those were just flight duration rockets! They can’t do a thing. Etho’s gone, now.” Grian dropped down next to them, brows pinched in concern.
“We promise, it’s alright! We all use rockets like that. It’s alright, see? Everything’s fine. No hermit would do a thing to purposefully scare you, like that.” Stress chirped in, her heart sinking at the thought of two kids being so terrified at a simple firework.
Tommy pulled his head away from the crook of Tubbo’s neck, glaring harshly at the adults. Distrust was obvious in his blue eyes, before he untangled himself, pulling up Tubbo with him. “Why the fuck would he need fireworks? He had fucking wings.”
The Hermits exchanged a gaze for a moment, before Grian held up his hands pacifyingly. “That was just an elytra. They take the form most fitting for the wearer, at the moment. Stress marked him the Ice Queen of the season, since he owns that Ice shop,” He’d point with his thumb behind him, at a snowy igloo with an Ice sign above it. “So, he had snow-themed wings. Last world, my Elytra wings were small and white feathers. Rockets boost them, since Elytras can only glide.” Grian explained patiently.
“..Right. Sorry- I- Uh. I didn’t realize he had an Elytra.. S-Should’ve expected the rocket, if I knew.” Tubbo sheepishly laughed it off, their head dipped down.
The correlation between the splattered, sparked burn scars scattered across their face, and their reaction, wasn’t lost on the Hermits.
There was a brief silence between the four, the blond boy’s arm wrapped tightly around the other teen’s.
“So- what are your wings, now?” Tubbo eventually asked, breaking the tense pause.
Grian made a noise of understanding. “Ah, yeah, I have parrots wings, now! Scarlet Macaw. Red’s the primary color. They’re a good bit bigger than last season’s elytra, since that one was chicken based.”
“Chicken based?” Tommy scoffed, cocking an eyebrow as he eyed the short, young-looking man.
“Yes, that was his whole thing. The Hermits still tease him for it. Mine are floral-based and skeletal, when I wear them.” Stress chirped, her tone warm. With a swipe of her holographic tablet, wings were equipped to her back.
Indeed, they were as described. A frame of skeletal bones, a light, magenta glistening aura surrounding them. Moss, and large flowers clung to the wings. How exactly she flew with them was beyond anything Tommy knew- or was willing to take the time to understand.
“We won’t be using them, since- you two don’t have any. But it is about time we discuss what your plans are. Has your server’s admin sent any updates?” Grian switched subjects, glancing between the teens.
A tense energy still surrounded them, as Tubbo fidgetted and gripped onto the fabric at the bottom of their shirt.
“No,” Tommy scoffed, pulling his Communicator into his free hand. “The bastard hasn’t said a word.” The boy practically growled out the words, in frustration.
“Alright,” Grian said easily. “Then we figure out what you two want to do.”
“There’s a lot of spare builds. Keralis, real close to here, has a whole big city. There’s a hotel there. It’s not empty, but it is.. Overwhelming, and a bit much. There are also Hermits starter bases.” Stress explained, trying to lay out the options for the two.
Tommy scowled, while Tubbo looked- well, spaced. Easily the quietest either Hermit had seen them, so far. This only added to their concern.
“I have my starter base. No Hermit would bother you, but it’s close enough that we can drop off supplies, and you’d be able to reach others if you need help. Both of you could have anything I left in those chests, Gord knows I have more than enough resources.” Grian offered, glancing between the teens.
“The spawn room was fine, Mr. Grian.” Tubbo cringed, tilting their head towards the builder.
Grian persisted, gently shaking his head. “No, it isn’t. There isn’t the supplies to really just- let you guys sustain, there.” He grimaced, before manifesting the spruce boat icon into his hand. “Hobbit hole with everything in it going to you two, or empty hotel room with no elevator.” He’d offer.
The pair were quiet for a moment, before Tommy groaned. “Fine. Hermithole, or whatever.”
Nodding along, Grian trailed off towards shore. “Alright, we have a short journey ahead of us, then. And then you two can decide if you want to settle there and make do with what’s stored, or come back on your own accord for more. I won’t make either of you stick around for much longer.”
“Good.” Tommy grumbled, pulling back out his own boat.
Both groups were soon in their boats, and once more, were off into the ocean.

Hero Fever
Happy Birthday Jackie! Here’s a little story to celebrate!
CW: Food, small sickness, mention of nausea, ego shipping (if you’re uncomfortable with that)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the sunny backyard of the Septiceyes’ house, Chase and Jameson struggle to hang up the banner reading “Happy Birthday Jackie!” For the third time today, they descend their individual stepladders to move the banner slightly to the left.
In the middle of the backyard, sits a huge cake. Marvin the Magnificent continues switching through photos to put on the top of the cake, squinting against the harsh sun.
An individual picture of Jackie? “So lonely.”
A picture of Jackie and Seán at a convention? “Too blurry.”
A picture of Jackie breaking his nose at said convention? “How the fuck did that get here?” Marvin picks up the offending photo and crumples it up, tossing it aside.
He settles on a family photo of the Septics, taken last year at the beach. He sighs then turns around to sneeze. He has been feeling a bit unwell since he woke up; nose stuffed, head aching, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that he gives his boyfriend the best birthday yet.
Chase and Jameson stand back to stare at the banner again.
“I think it’s too far to the left again,” Chase says. Jameson blows a raspberry in frustration.
Marvin sighs as he stands up. “You want me to do it?”
“Please,” Jameson begs.
Marvin snaps his fingers and the banner rearranges itself into the middle. Chase and Jameson sigh in relief and hug their friend. Dr. Henrik von Schneeplestein MD, PhD- oh you know the drill- leaves his current job of setting tableware and joins them in the hug.
“Finally we can relax!” Chase exclaims.
Marvin spots a figure out of the corner of his eye and pulls out of the hug. “Robbie, what are you doing?!”
Robbie’s head snaps up as he turns around, his expression similar to a child who got into the cookie jar without permission. His face is covered in icing. “I’m not eating cake.”
“You can’t eat the cake now!” Marvin gently scolds.
“It’s an ice cream cake!” Robbie protests.
“It’s for Jackie,” Marvin reminds him.
“It’s for Jackie” Robbie repeats, glumly.
An alarm on Marvin’s phone goes off, What Is My Life by Schmoyoho and Jacksepticeye playing. Marvin gasps in delight. “It’s time! Jackie should be awake by now!” He runs over to the door, but quickly turns around. “You sure you’ve got this, Henrik?”
Henrik scoffs. “Relax! You can trust the Good Doctor! I’ve faced down demons and evil sorcerers, I can keep the backyard clean until you get home with Jackie!” He puffs his chest out.
“Good! Make sure no one starts eating before he gets here!” Marvin orders as he runs inside.
“Yup!”
“And keep an eye on that cake!” Marvin slams the door closed.
The egos settle down on chairs and tables, relieved from the magician’s dictatorship for now. Robbie takes the time to practice reading. His eyesight has slowly improved for him to begin reading once more, and he takes every opportunity to get lost in a good book again. He reads the banner. “Ha...ppy… birth… day… Jackie!”
He turns to Jameson, who nods in approval before opening his own book. Robbie gets up to join him.
Henrik and Chase take the time to grab some chips from the bowl.
{Didn’t Marvin say not to eat anything before he and Jackie got here?} Jameson asks warily.
“It’s not like he has to know. Plus, we have extras,” Chase reasons.
Jameson sighs and goes back to reading. He has a feeling they’ll be scrambling for food ten minutes before the hero arrives.
*
Upstairs, Jackie snores loudly, drool hanging from his mouth and hair a wild mess. Marvin tiptoes in and leans over the snoring superhero.
“Jackie… Happy birthday…” he whispers.
“To youuuu….” Jackie mumbles, still somewhat asleep.
“It’s your birthday, Jackie,” Marvin says with a laugh.
“To meeee…” Jackie sings.
Marvin snickers and pulls the covers off. “Get up, lazybones.”
Jackie sits up, startled by the sudden cold. “Morning to you too, Marvin.”
Marvin kisses his cheek. “Happy birthday Jackie! I’ve got a little scavenger hunt for you to celebrate!”
“Scavenger hunt?”
“You always have fun going treasure hunting, so I’ve worked for weeks to get today to happen! There are presents all around town waiting for you to find them!” Marvin continues, bouncing to Jackie’s closet. He flips through the shirts and coats. “Mind if I fix up an older suit of yours?”
Jackie jumps out of bed to do his morning stretches. “Go right ahead.”
Marvin grabs an old suit and throws it to Jackie. Jackie puts it on while Marvin fiddles with the design. He turns the entire outfit a scarlet red, giving it blue lapels, finishing the design with a golden brocade embellishment.
Jackie gasps as he admires himself in the mirror. “Thanks Marvin!”
Marvin winks as he magically changes into his own outfit, adding a similar golden brocade design to his purple vest and turning his cape red in honour of his boyfriend. He conjures two Himalayan blue poppies, clipping one above Jackie’s heart and tucking the other into his hair.
Jackie happily applauds the transformation.
Marvin bows and quickly rises, causing his head to spin. He stumbles and nearly topples into Jackie, who quickly catches him and gently guides him to the bed.
“You alright, Marvin? You look a little pale,” Jackie says. He puts a hand on Marvin's forehead. It feels hot. “Do you have a cold?”
Marvin scoffs. “Please, I don’t get colds. I’ll be fine.” He can’t be getting sick now! Not on his boyfriend’s birthday!
As if to spite him, his nose tickles and Marvin sneezes. Sparkles appear, some of them falling upon Jackie’s copper mantel clock. The clock hops off the desk and skitters out of the room.
“Should we catch that?” Jackie asks.
Marvin waves his hand dismissively. “I’ll get it later. Ready to start?” He holds up a red rope. “Just follow the string!”
Jackie’s eyes light up as he grabs the string and trails through the hallway. Marvin laughs as he watches Jackie crawl under tables and jump over couches to follow the red string’s path.
The first present is in the bathroom, hidden in the far left cupboard: a shiny red stopwatch with the Spiderman design as its signature. Jackie squeals as Marvin slips it on.
The second and third presents sit on Chase’s desk: tickets to a concert for One Republic along with a box of chocolates. Jackie pops one in his mouth and holds the box out to Marvin, who shakes his head. Marvin tries not to breathe in the sweet scent, knowing it will just make him nauseous.
“Are you sure you’re alright, Marvin?” Jackie asks again as they continue through the house.
“Absolutely!” Marvin says, patting his boyfriend on the back. “Now hurry up, we’ve got more presents to find inside this house!”
*
Meanwhile, the small clock skitters through the house, confused as to wear to go. It senses a breeze and turns to the window over the kitchen counter. It hops up and jumps out the window, landing on its feet and dashing to the backyard.
The clock breezes past Chase, who plays a little game on his phone. Chase looks up, a confused expression on his face. What just went by?
A scream startles Chase out of his seat. The good doctor stands on a wobbly chair, eyes bulging as he stares at the little creature. The creature simply tilts its case, as if it was cocking its head in confusion.
{Henrik, my dear, must you scream so loud?} Jameson snaps, sign trembling. {You almost gave me a heart attack!}
“What is that?!” Henrik demands, pointing downwards.
Chase bends down and holds a hand out for the creature to hop on. To his surprise, it’s a small antique mantel clock. He recognizes the copper hue.
“It looks like Jackie's clock came to life.” Chase chuckles as the clock waves a hand in greeting.
“Scheiße, I thought that was a giant bug!” Henrik groans as he jumps down. Jameson pats his back.
“What should we do about it?” Robbie asks, tentatively holding a hand out. The clock shakes it with its leg.
“It’s not harming anyone,” Chase reasons. “We’ll just let it hang here until Marvin and Jackie show up.”
The clock sits down on the table. The egos stare at each other and shrug before resuming their individual activities.
*
Jackie struggles to hold onto his new makeshift clock shaped like Septiceye Sam (lovingly made by Jameson), the messy delphinium flower arrangement tied with a red ribbon (lovingly ripped out of Marvin’s garden by Robbie), and a massager wand with the package clumsily decorated with Spiderman stickers (Henrik definitely let his daughter decorate it). He stumbles downstairs and heads into the dining room where a painted portrait of the Septiceye family sits. Jackie marvels at the beautiful painting.
“Jacques Septicart painted that,” Marvin says. “We’ll put it up in the living room later tonight.”
Jackie juggles his presents into one arm and hugs Marvin with the other. “These are all so much… thank you.”
Marvin leans into the hug, sniffing a little. When did his nose get this clogged up?
“Marvin, are you sure you’re not sick?” Jackie asks.
“Just allergies,” Marvin quickly answers, before sneezing. Before Jackie can say anything, he sneezes again.
“They come in threes,” Jackie warns.
“I’m fine- achoo!”
Behind Jackie, Henrik’s comfy armchair waddles over to the back door, where it kicks it open and heads outside. Following it is the fire poker on two spindly legs and five books flying in the air like birds. Marvin gulps.
Jackie turns around, seeing only the open door. “What was that?”
Marvin quickly shuts the door close with magic. “None of your concern, let’s go!”
“Can I at least leave my presents-”
Marvin drags his boyfriend out the front door before Jackie can finish, where a shiny red motorcycle stands in the driveway. Marvin hops into the driver’s seat.
Jackie gulps, knowing the magician’s lack of knowledge on anything public road-related. “Uhh, are you sure that’s safe?”
“I’ve been taking lessons from Chase! Let’s go!” Marvin yells. Jackie has no choice but to hop on.
*
Marvin drives through the busy town square, eyes focused on the red string hanging from the lights. Jackie holds onto Marvin, clutching onto more gifts; a fuzzy Deadpool onesie, a pair of bluetooth headphones, a red fishing rod and yet another flower arrangement, this time made of bellflowers. The chocolates, delphinium flowers, clock and massage wand are crammed in the new storage compartment. Thank goodness for that.
Marvin suddenly stops to sneeze. Behind him, street signs, construction cones and trash cans grow legs and run off. Marvin yelps in shock and quickly bikes away from the scene. This only causes him to sneeze even more and he slows to a stop to finish the fit. A park bench stirs and skips away.
“Bless you,” Jackie says, ignoring the skipping bench in the background.
“Thanks,” Marvin hoarsely whispers, rubbing his nose with his handkerchief. He looks up and gasps. “Would you look at that! We made it to our next stop!”
He points up to the sign that shows a small man covered in a sticky dark substance. Mud? Ink? No, chocolate! The swirly words read “Shawn Flynn’s Chocolate Factory.” The light-beige, brick wall store sits at the corner of a plaza, dark brown curls painted to give it an inky look. A small folding sign standing near the glass door reads the special for the day: Brownies with Flower Decorations.
Jackie’s eyes light up. “You didn’t!”
“I did! Head inside!” Marvin says with a laugh. Jackie hops off the bike and opens the storage compartment, hoping to put more presents inside.
Marvin’s nose tickles and he tries in vain to stifle another- “Achoo!”
Immediately, Shawn’s sandwich board gallops into the traffic, causing cars to screech to a halt. Marvin flips toward the superhero. Thankfully, Jackie seems more interested in slamming the storage compartment lid closed.
“Marvin, you know we can always finish the scavenger hunt later, right?” Jackie asks.
“Hell no, I’m fine!” Marvin drawls, sniffing loudly. “Go inside before your next present spoils!”
Jackie shrugs and heads inside the store. The interior has blueprints of old-fashioned machines plastered along the walls, all in parchment paper. Shawn Flynn reads a book behind the display case, where various chocolate delights are lined up.
Shawn waves when he sees Jackie bounce up to the counter. “Happy birthday Jackie! Marvin commissioned quite the treat for you!” He pulls out a box of chocolate brownies covered with pastel yellow icing and decorated with a Himalayan blue poppy on each. Jackie’s mouth waters as he takes the box.
“Thank you sir!” Jackie says.
“Have a good day, lad!” Shawn says.
Outside, Marvin basks in the sunlight as it warms his suddenly chilly body. He sighs in content… and sneezes. The lamppost beside the motorcycle suddenly sprouts four new legs and slowly gallops away. Marvin watches it run into the distance. He’ll fix that later.
Jackie bounces out with the box of brownies and sets it in the motorcycle’s basket. “Amazing brownies, Marvin! Thank you!”
Marvin opens his mouth to answer, only to sneeze. The motorcycle stirs to life and whizzes down the street, cars stopping and honking their horns as the bike races away with the treats and half the gifts.
Marvin cries out as the vehicle disappears from their view. Jackie laughs. “Well, that takes care of the brownies, I guess! Seriously though, I think we should head home.”
“Of course not! It’s just allergies!” Marvin snaps. Jackie flinches at his harsh tone.
Marvin shakes his head. “I’m sorry… I just… I don’t want to ruin this day for you. I’ve worked too hard for this to only crumble.”
Jackie smiles. “It’s alright. Shall we continue on foot?” He holds an arm out.
Marvin nods, linking his arm with Jackie’s and heading down the street to their next destination.
*
By the beach stands a store with a gable roof and stone bricks. A fish net hangs over an Indiana Jones-inspired logo: The Survival Kit. Inside, fishing rods, grappling hooks, bikes, and even ice skates are lined up on shelves and walls, ready for use. Among the outdoor items and the useful emergency supplies are cool little trinkets from different parts of the world.
Marvin kicks the door open, only to sneeze again. Immediately, six pairs of snowshoes at the front door hop off their display case and into the outdoors. Marvin quickly conjures up some new snowshoes to take their place.
“Hey Marvin!” Angus McLoughlin says. “Is the birthday boy with you?”
Jackie enters dragging a sled full of gifts behind him. “Hello, Angus!”
“Top of the morning to you, birthday laddie! I’ve got a little something for you!” Angus fishes underneath the checkout counter and holds out a grappling hook wrapped in a big blue bow.
Jackie gasps in amazement as he takes the new hook. “Awesome! I needed a new one! Thank you, Angus!”
Angus tips his crocodile dundee hat. Over by the trash bin, Marvin blows his nose while fishnets fly off their hooks and out the window.
Jackie sighs when he sees the sniffling magician. “Angus, you wouldn’t happen to have some medical supplies for my boyfriend, would you?”
Angus already has a bottle out. “A cold remedy of my own invention! I used this when I got a fever on Mount Everest!”
“I’m fine!” Marvin calls out. He sneezes once more. A stand full of fishing rods runs off with new legs.
Jackie slams a twenty pound euro on Angus’ desk. “We’ll take it.”
Jameson dries his hand and exits the bathroom. He hears crashing and screaming outside. Worrying for his companions, he quickly runs out and opens the door to a chaotic scene. Chase shrieks as he rides a bucking trash can around the backyard, swatting at a book that seems intent on pecking him. Henrik attempts to guard the cake from a sandwich sign and an armchair with a broom. Robbie stands beside him, roaring at a bicycle and a lamppost. Four more books fly above the crowd. The tiny clock trembles by the back door.
Jameson whistles loudly. Everyone, including the furniture, turns to the wizard.
“Hi Jameson! More guests arrived!” Robbie yells.
{Where did they come from?} Jameson asks, gesturing to the objects.
“Who cares?! HELPPP!!!” Chase screams as the garbage can resumes its bucking. Jameson conjures some magic fireballs and joins the battle to protect the cake.
*
“Come on, Jackie, now we climb!” Marvin yells as he stumbles toward the clock tower. His head feels even heavier than it did this morning and his clogged nose prevents him from breathing. He sniffs violently.
“Marvin, that’s enough, you need to rest!” Jackie exclaims.
“But we need to get to our birthday chills! I mean thrills!” Marvin protests as he swings the doors open. Jackie pales upon seeing the large staircase. Marvin is already climbing up.
“Marvin?” Jackie squeaks.
“What?! I’m fiiiine!” Marvin shouts, almost tripping on his cape. “Come on! Up to the top!”
Jackie rolls his eyes and begins his climb. “Marvin, you’re going to regret this later.”
“No I’m not!”
*
“WHERE ARE THE FISHING NETS COMING FROM?!” Henrik screams as he tries to wriggle out.
“I’LL SAVE YOU DOCTOR!” Robbie yells as he yanks away at the fishnet.
“THE MOTORCYCLE HAS THE CAKE!” Chase shrieks as he dangles from the lamppost.
{BLAST IT ALL, HOW ARE WE OUT OF CHIPS?!} Jameson demands as he slaps away the swooping books.
Henrik and Chase point to each other. “HE FINISHED THEM!”
*
Marvin has no idea how he got to the top with only 10% of his energy, but he isn’t about to question it as he opens the small door in the clock face. He blinks against the harsh light of the sun and turns around. Beautiful colours light up the sunlit room. Crystals dangling from the ceiling reflect the light and cast rainbow colours.
Jackie likes the spectacle, but can’t help but watch worriedly as his boyfriend stumbles around,
Marvin takes a deep breath and spreads his arms out. “Happy, happy, merry, merry, hot, cold, hot birthday Jackie!” He snaps his fingers and firecrackers shoot up. He feels the blood drain from his head and blacks out as the firecrackers explode.
Marvin wakes up to a cushioning object underneath his head. It dawns on him that Jackie is cradling him in his arms. Marvin nuzzles into Jackie’s suit, tears welling up.
“Jackie? I think I’m sick…” Marvin whimpers.
Jackie puts a hand over Marvin’s boiling forehead. “Yup, you’ve definitely caught a fever. Tell you what, let’s put this day on hold and get you to bed. Okay?”
Marvin nods weakly. “Okay.” He sniffles again. “I’m sorry Jackie, I just wanted to give you a perfect birthday… but I ruined it.”
Jackie hugs him. “You didn’t ruin anything. I still had fun today. Besides, we always have next year. For now, let’s just get you to bed.”
As Jackie helps him up, Marvin quickly adds in a weak voice, “As long as we go through the back door.”
Jackie chuckles. “Whatever you say.”
*
Voices and banging emanate from the back gate as Jackie and Marvin approach. Marvin gulps, a sinking feeling in his gut. He turns to Jackie.
“Uhh, love? If we open the doors and there just happens to be a mess, I’m very sorry.”
Jackie laughs. “No need to apologize. Besides, it sounds like fun.”
The superhero pushes the gate open. Indeed, chaos is amok. Henrik dangles from the lamppost, still entangled in the fishnet, Chase clings onto a spinning trash can, Robbie shields himself from swooping books with the sandwich sign, and Jameson floats above the mess, holding the cake. Jackie’s clock clings to Jameson’s leg. Around them, the other guests have finally arrived, but stand far away from the fight.
Upon seeing the birthday boy walk in, the furniture arranges themselves into a giant tower with the Septiceyes on top, and everyone yells,
“SURPRISE!”
“Wow!” Jackie exclaims with a laugh.
“Wow…” Marvin mumbles in shock.
As they descend from the tower, Chase rouses the party to sing.
We’re making today a perfect day for you! We’re making today a happy day and no feeling blue! For everything you are to us and all you that you do! We’re making today a perfect day, making today a special day, We’re making today a perfect day for you!
“Happy birthday Jackie!” Henrik says.
{Make a wish!} Jameson urges, holding up the birthday cake. Jackie closes his eyes and nods, then blows out the candles. Everyone cheers.
“Marvin, are you okay?” Chase asks, rushing over to the magician. Marvin simply responds by toppling into him.
“He got sick!”
“Of course you did, you’ve been stressing over his birthday for two whole weeks!” Henrik says exasperatedly. “Come on, let the good doctor treat you!”
“I don’t want to miss the party!” Marvin protests weakly as Henrik leads him away.
“We’ll set up a little bed for you!” Chase says. “Let’s go, Jameson!”
Ten minutes later, Marvin lies on a chaise wrapped in blankets while Jackie feeds him some soup. The superhero looks out into the backyard while Marvin rearranges his blankets.
The party continues in full swing, with people eating food and chatting with each other. Jameson performs a juggling trick on the motorcycle for the children, while Chase and Robbie have a chip eating battle. Henrik chats with Shawn on the park bench. Jackie smiles and turns back to Marvin who seems to have fallen asleep, snoring softly.
Jackie laughs and kisses Marvin’s forehead. “Thank you for the best birthday yet, Marvin.”
