Extra info since this is going to be pinned: Heya! I'm noda, 21 living somewhere in north africa. Japanese is my 4th language while English is my 3rd, and I'm mostly self taught, so I'm still learning and improving as I go. I started this blog as a dump for various media i create (hence the occasional art or animation post) but it's slowly transforming into a translation account LOL. my main hobbies are still animation & art, but I do enjoy translation and graphic design. I started learning Japanese in summer 2015 and I try my best to improve.

First of all thank you so much 🥺🥺🥺 here’s some basic stuff with a smidge of info dump ghhffh accompanied by a very messy wip scribble from last night

Name: Eiva

Class: Hunter

Pronouns: they/she (leaning heavily towards they tho like a 70/30 split lol)

Sexuality: gray ace

They are my main Guardian oc for Destiny 2 and I’ve had them since I was like 13-14. Their main subclass is solar/void main weapons are the Ace of Spades, Wishender, and Vestian dynasty (in my heart it hasn’t been sunset). I actually have a long running private fic for them but I’ve only written like three chapters lmaooo with several smaller snippets. Some highlights are:

-I’m still working shopping it but back before the collapse when Eiva was human I headcanon that their family was actually in the weapons manufacturing business (specifically Khovostov lmaooo I hc that as her last name from wayyy back then but they’re also probably adopted)

-they had a sister who is pretty much central to Eiva’s entire character even as a Guardian when they can’t remember her. Similarly to Uldren they did everything for her but it wasn’t toxic like with Mara and Eiva was more like the big sister protecting little sister lmaooo; but basically they followed her everywhere even down to when they were awoken and when they left the Distributary.

-I personally headcanon that Guardians are brought back as a second chance because they had the capacity to be really good people in their first life but weren’t which is why the War Lords and Iron Lords and etc are Like That. So, Eiva was not very nice lmao. Their desire to protect their sister was pretty much all they cared about and they fucked over a lot of people.

-Their sister was pretty much their exact opposite and honestly more the typical main character formula as in wanted to be a hero. I made Eiva with this in mind and they are more the reluctant hero lol like they’re not really trying to be a symbol of anything to anyone it just always happens that they fall into positions of leadership. I even tried to make Eiva more plain in comparison so they have the typical kind of common blue skin white hair awoken combo but her sister to me is more unique and is these like really pretty shades of purple.

-Ok moving onto like actual current in game stuff lol Eiva’s current fireteam is made up of a warlock named Obi-1 (yes like Obi-wan) and T-13 (Tiberius-13). Their Ghost is named Sirius after the star bc it’s the brightest star iirc

-Obi and Ty are not her original fireteam. Their original fireteam consisted of an awoken titan (Sav) and another hunter (Killian) and three others for raids lol. All of them were their consistent raid team up until Oryx. Eiva in my canon is the sole survivor of the raid against Oryx and that raid is the reason for a giant shift in their character. It was their first really big loss. (Basically I think they all got really cocky after Crota and didn’t take it seriously enough)

-ok now onto some ✨Romance things now bc I love romance✨

-Sav was the first person they ever had feelings for after being Risen I’m still messing with it but I think I’m gonna have a very messy very sapphic love triangle-ish type thing going on there with another guardian lmaoo

-a very convoluted and self indulgent ship with Crow/Uldren lmao basically I headcanon that they knew each other wayyyyy back when they were both humans and when Mara pulled her bullshit making the Distributary she made them forget each other

-to add some ✨spice✨ to that ship and Eiva’s overall story I also had them have feelings for Cayde (I’m debating how far they actually got into this situationship that exists in my head lmaooo ya know before he 💀)

-presently Eiva is mid slow burn with Crow so you can imagine my excitement at the prospect of Cayde coming back because the angst is gonna be so good dhdhdhs (I have like 15k worth of fic so far for this character and a long running series in my brain lmfao)

-some random fact now uhhh

-Eiva knows exactly how they died their final death in their last life but pretends not to

-Eiva knows exactly how many times they’ve died and has asked their ghost to keep a record of them so they can look back on them and learn from them

-Eiva has a particular hatred for the hive bc of Oryx

-they participated in getting married to shaxx for the Lolz

-has a lot of “warlock” tendencies for a hunter (they were actually originally a warlock when I first made them I swapped to hunter maybe a year before D2 came out and their old name was trinity)

-their name Eiva comes from Edelweiss I bastardized it bc it’s their favorite flower; when they were a kid they had a vested interest in botany that their parents did not support lol and that life didn’t allow them to explore

-I chose edelweiss bc of its meaning (devotion), it’s description (it’s a flower that grows even in the toughest conditions), and I based her hair/eye color on that white hair (petals) yellow gold eyes (middle) lol

SS continues. Seteth is handsome and I think I would be okay with this normally, but I played VW first and Claude was cuter.

Not to be mean, but that's pretty much literally the only difference so far. Off screen Claude even supporting character magics us into getting the same reinforcements in the same place and going to the same next map. (I tell Seteth I want to go to the Kingdom this time. Seteth says no. I feel like at least Claude didn't pretend I had options. Did I just agree with him on everything...? That is also possible.)

It's kind of... even some of Seteth's lines don't seem to be intended for him. I heard from interview that SS was written first, so I figured that playing it would make VW feel like a reskin, but I dunno if it's the order I did them in, but tbh VW so far feels a more "natural" progression, Edelgard stuff aside.

Aside from that, using church units on the church route has some funny effects like that one general going "your army of children," but I'm actually... using almost entirely adults...

Live blogging notes:

Oh, I didn't notice, but the "village" where we wake up is in ruins. There are burnt remnants and half-collapsed brick walls in the background.

Interesting point: I didn't keep track of the months before, but now I see we fell asleep in March 1181 but wake up in December 1185. I kinda thought it would be the same months, but it's not.

Edelgard's tone at the reunion is...... hum. Not very emotive? Don't get me wrong, Claude doesn't exactly get worked up much either, but Edelgard has a lot more personal stakes in all this, and she should really have a deeper investment in regard to Byleth. It was like this when they parted ways in Garreg Mach too.

Edelgard says "friend from our Black Eagle days have chosen to join me in the fight ahead." But that's... hum. First, why is it a fight ahead for her? She's been fighting for 5 years and is winning, according to the info dump. Second, did the students actually join her? I got them all killed, so I won't know either way, but my impression is that this is not actually the case to begin with.

Edelgard is using a wavy sword... Levin Sword?

Kinda meh sword battle scene.

The fact that Edelgard is older than Byleth now... haha. Claude switches to calling you "my friend" but Edelgard is still pushing the teacher angle.

The info dumps about the political situation post timeskip are slightly different all around, but the only real difference seems to be that Lorenz leads the Empire supporter faction in the Alliance, which iirc was not the case in VW. That checks out. Dimitri is still presumed dead and Faerghus is a Dukedom.

Flayn says she forgot something at the Holy Mausoleum, where we meet up with her... Not sure what this is about. (Update: She and Seteth hang around there later too. Really not sure why.)

SS savefile has the banner I presume Claude also makes you use in VW - kinda blue-grey background with a pink Crest of Flames.

Lol, I killed everyone, but the chapter crawl still says students from the Black Eagle house are working with the Church. Instead I recruited all the Church units, so they show up to help in the new month.

War phase SS has the same monastery music and yellow skybox as VW. Kinda disappointed, tbh. I was (vainly) hoping that each route would get something a little different.

I did notice that they have wooden construction equipment type structures in a lot of places, which I didn't realize before. I guess it's supposed to show how the monastery is in a rundown, damaged state, but even seeing it, I don't think it works too well.

Shamir says that Dagda was "destroyed" ten years ago.

Seteth has been refusing Hanneman's requests for 21 years. So even though Flayn came to the monastery very recently, Seteth has been around for long enough that his physical age is going to start looking weird lol (his info on Serenes Forest says he's physically 27). Notably though, he and Jeralt didn't know each other (iirc), so based on the timeline, Seteth came pretty much immediately after Jeralt faked Byleth's death and disappeared. I wonder if it was because Rhea would have been "in a state" about Byleth's supposed death (and the loss of Sothis's crest stone).

There are no records of anyone except Seteth having a Major Crest of Cichol. In fact, it seems like there's probably no one who has a crest of Cichol at all. Seteth says he is a commoner and has no idea how he ended up with a crest. Hanneman when Byleth says the exact same thing, while being just as sus:

There's some cliff rubble on the monastery defense map... looks like there was a rockslide during the Imperial attack.

The fact that I've forgotten half of VW already is making this a little more tolerable, but looking at the chapter list for VW, we did have a monastery defense map before going to get Judith's troops, and in SS we are...... also going to get Judith's troops.

There's some snippets about how Judith and Daphnel have mostly remained out of Imperial attention and how Judith is a devout follower of the Seiros faith, but tbh it feels out of place here compared to VW.

Oh, there's a spy. Man, was this in VW? I remember nothing.

I've seen this mentioned in fic, but the quest for the Almyran merchant in disguise mentions a Nader bear (which is an Armored Bear Stuffy in your inventory). The thing you give him is "Zoltan's Beast Idol" that mentions the famous craftsman Zoltan who was believed to have made only weapons. I wonder if there's some weapon in the game that was made by him?

Seteth repeats the legend about Ailell being caused by the goddess's wrath after a battle there long ago. Which... is a weird thing, given that he should theoretically know the actual cause -- Agarthan missiles getting deflected from the monastery by the protections on the Holy Tomb.

Oh, Judith suggests she's helping because Claude asked her to. My sus man <3

Reiterating that the Oghma mountains are to the south of the monastery and between it and the Empire. You can't enter the monastery from the Empire directly. You have to go through the Kingdom or the Alliance.

Why do they give you the choice between east and west approaches?? I picked west because I already saw the Alliance stuff, but Seteth just directly shoots you down...

Claude continues to be a proper side character by giving us a way to get into the Empire through the Alliance. "I don't know exactly why, but I feel that I can trust you," my dude, it's because you are a side character who exists to fill the needs of the plot. It's the damn bridge again. SIGH

Also, I was worried for a moment when I couldn't talk to Ashe, but apparently you don't need to. Just kill him and he magically survives. There isn't even a little scene about him coming back or anything...?

have you read ACOTAR? and who is your favorite and least favorite? would love to hear your thoughts about it. And did you enjoy Rule of Wolves?

I did! I read up to ACOWAR, a friend of mine was really into them and made me promise to read the first two before the third came out so we could read it together. so this was before they were pretty inescapable in the book sphere so I managed to go in without any spoilers! unfortunately the books really were not for me tbh

I feel like they’re strongly romance first plot second books and I just wasn’t really into the relationships. I thought the first book was a passable BATB retelling but I don’t like BATB very much in the first place and then the pacing in this was just… bizarre. Like lmaoo that one chapter long info dump of doom before she goes under the mountain??

Then from the second book on it was very relationships and romance first, plot second. And I like plot too much lol. What plot did exist was also like random mcguffin quests and then REALLY BAD politics. I’m too much of a nerd about historical warfare to be able to take any of it serious.

That being said I did like some of the earlier stuff where it’s clearly a fairy tale but just kind of grittier and gorier than most retellings get. And I liked the focus on Feyre’s trauma after the trials and how she and Tamlin grew apart after that and seemed to cope in entirely incompatible ways.

By ACOWAR though everything just felt too fluffy and indulgent, like it was fanfic of itself? Idk I did not enjoy that one at all so I have not continued the series. Though I’ve heard very mixed things about ACOSF that do make me kind of curious.

My favorite character was probably Lucien and then circa book one Rhysand. I did NOT enjoy him later once he starts getting a reputation overhaul in ACOMAF. I think he worked well as a minor antagonist who inexplicably goes out of his way every so often to help or at least not be the worst. And the power dynamics between him and Amarantha were really interesting to me. But once he’s like cleaned up to be the love interest, I feel like he’s framed as entirely without any flaws in a way that grates on me. And his entire woe is me schtick about having a bad reputation that he’s also like… going out of his way to maintain lol. So he’s… also my least favorite? The rest of the cast I’m mostly lukewarm about.

And hmmm well I thought RoW was fun? I think overall it was less cohesive than KoS but also I did personally enjoy it more. The Alina cameo made me very mad agdhdgd but also the Darkling POV pretty much single handedly justified the entire duology’s existence. (Even though I very much am against bringing him back at all!) I also liked him going to Tree Hell lmao and his entire like very grudging redemption. I think it’s so funny that circumstances essentially presented a situation where his superiority complex is actually useful. Like “oh clearly EYE, the main character of the universe, must to go to tree hell because WHO ELSE could possibly do it??”

Also also the single most memorable moment *for me* as an angst enjoyer was probably this Zoyalai bit because I love to see Nikolai suffer

So yeah generally I had a good time? But also I think it felt a little half baked.

Thinking about Iphraxia

Yes, I inhaled the HOFAS prologue and chapter one Sarah posted to her new site yesterday... and a couple things have been itching my brain since (and making thinking about anything other than release day impossible).

Safe to say we're hitting the ground RUNNING. Poor bb Ruhn. But some through lines and well... associations made by both proximity and repetition that have me (tentatively) very excited about a BIG hope I've had. One I'm not alone in.

🚨 HOFAS PROLOGUE + CHAPTER 1 SPOILERS 🚨

I have also not read the book in its entirety yet. This is just me spewing nonsense. Please don't reply/comment with any spoilers if you have read all of HOFAS. I've waiting two years for this! Just feeding my spinning brain until Monday night.

WHAT A FIRST CHAPTER! I have so many thoughts spinning about the info dumps we get - and awesome confirmations like Daglan = Asteri + Cormac shadows = Azriel shadows. Good work team!

But I'll be honest, I'm looking for any and all crumbs for a TOG connection... and this one just wouldn't stop irking me.

So, I'll begin with Bryce's lies. She spells out for us that, honestly, she's never had too hard a time deceiving folks by playing into what they wanted to see from her: a ditzy party girl incapable of scheming. We've spent two books, and many years, peeling back Bryce's layers, only to discover she's even more capable, more selfless, more calculating than we ever could have guessed. Even where we're guided largely by her POV. Queen. Aelin would be proud.

That gift we've seen honed over time... lasts all of two seconds in the presence of Rhys, Amren, and Azriel. But specifically, it seems, Azriel.

Now I'll fearlessly reference the cursed Azriel bonus chapter from ACOSF...

"“I..." He watched her swallow. She clutched a small gift in her hands. "I was coming to leave this on your pile of presents. I forgot to give it to you earlier." Lie. Well, the second part was a lie. He didn't need his shadows to read her tone, the slight tightening of her face. She'd waited until everyone was asleep before venturing back down, where she'd leave her gift amongst his other, opened presents, subtle and unnoticed." A Court of Silver Flames, Azriel Bonus Chapter

So we have Azriel referencing, perhaps, his shadows' abilities to detect lies. They can also hear the Cauldron sing in ACOWAR, so why not expand their extra sensory capabilities? Rhys and Cassian have even confessed to not really understanding the full scope of Azriel's powers... so naturally we're not entirely sure all that he's capable of either.

Azriel's also the Night Court's spy master and in this scene with Elain, he defaults to those skills he's mastered over time in lieu of his shadows' guidance. So, language barrier or not, Azriel might just be able to read Bryce, as she points out herself. We love a male fluent in body language, amirite?

But humor me for a sec, we've had two years since the crossover was announced to kind of side eye the fact that Azriel's blade is call Truth Teller - which is now front and center in the overarching plot and specifically this chapter. And for the TOG readers among us... we couldn't help but notice we've had an actual truth telling blade before: Damaris.

Azriel's sort of alluded to legend about his blade's abilities - mostly that it'll strike true. But we've never really confirmed if he's able to use it like a lie detector as Dorian does with Damaris in TOG.

And the specificity of couching the language barrier issue (pre-magic bean lol) alongside references to Truth Teller pretty consistently in this very first chapter has me 👀

In the scene above, Bryce is immediately curious about how Azriel could react to what she'd said if he couldn't understand her and the laugh/Rhys' surprise when Azriel clarifies leads me to believe he didn't need to know what she was saying to be informed it was BS.

Of course, again, pre-bean, Rhys is likely mind speaking translation for Azriel in the second instance in particular. But he's still relying on Azriel wholly to confirm truth or not prior to moving on. And Rhys doesn't question Azriel's response - at least no audibly.

And I'm just saying, we know Azriel is currently holding onto Truth Teller.

Azriel, being the primed warrior that he is, is sitting and lying in wait for some shit to go down the whole time. So when Bryce has a bad reaction to the magic bean (lol sorry I will never stop teasing), before she can get her bearings she's already slammed down by Azriel's shadows, dagger drawn.

The fact that we can assume he's been holding Truth Teller, ready to strike, makes the shock at the blade's reaction to Bryce sans Starsword all the more interesting. When Amren is like, "Dude why do you even have that thing with you and close to her?" Azriel kind of bashfully winnows it away. Amren's ellipses there is suspect as hell too, but that's for another time (or the rest of this book).

Anyway, if we pretend that Truth Teller is displaying some Damaris type traits, then the other details we're getting in close proximity to the blade's discussion are worth a second glance as well (in my humble opinion). Also, want to note that I'm aware that TT is a dagger and Damaris is a sword. I don't think they're necessarily the same or from the same ore. That's for SJM to explain lol.

Anyway, as Bryce is selectively explaining her/the universe's predicament, Truth Teller comes up again. But first I wanted to pause on the "only three planets that were able to kick [the Asteri] out." While I'm fully open to this being a little different than we have been theorizing - we've come to speculate that Hel is one planet and the Starborn Fae planet is where Prythian is located. This leaves the third successful planet: Iphraxia.

A quick reminder what we know about Iphraxia:

So the Iphraxia events happen 16,323 years prior to conquering of Midgard and many have speculated this planet could house Erilea and our beloved TOG crew.

I've always side eyed the use of the word "denizens" because it can either mean "an inhabitant or occupant of a particular place," or "a foreigner allowed certain rights in the adopted country." Rigelus alludes to the Asteri encouraging planets to come and conquer others, never realizing those who opened the doors were the true masters. In that case, Asteri referring to a group like the Valg as denizens would also make quite a bit of sense to me.

Maeve fights in Erilea's first wars - granted she manipulates the hell out of them - but she confirms at one point that she just wants to have her kingdom in peace (an evil kingdom) and that she's been running from Big Bads for a long time. She is of course Valg - not native to that world - and is not on Erawan's team to start. But it becomes very clear by KOA that we're all playing checkers and Maeve - a world walker - is playing chess. Then of course we have a group of stranded, vengeful gods who want to return to their family/world... but were left behind in a hasty evacuation perhaps? Of course when Aelin shuts the gates, they're presumably lost forever, but that chapter would have come long after Maeve originally fought back against Erwan who believes that planet was his to command... motivated by that world's larger forces perhaps.

^ This is why I shouldn't have procrastinated my TOD and KOA rereads... the details are not as sharp as they should be. But that is the general essence of things.

Anyway, returning to the reference to Iphraxia and the grounding connection Truth Teller is being set up to be has my TOG IS COMING alarms blaring.

Of course this chapter ends with the horn tattoo on Bryce's back being exposed and Amren confirming it's similarity to the Book of Breathings... a book we know landed in Midgard along with TOG's Walking dead in Jesiba's library... and written in markings we can pretty confidently say are wyrdmarks. And you know what crew of folks are crackerjack at reading wyrdmarks? :)

Anyway, I think TOG officially entering the crossover is imminent and with this line of thinking re: timeline... it might not actually separate the TOG timeline as far back as we've been predicting it might be (like in the very far past).

All I know is that I've had great fun over the years reading people's analysis of first lines and first chapters of books actually providing you with everything you actually need to know/can expect from the book. Sarah is actually pretty great at doing this so in our proper chapter one (not the prologue but sure why not) we're hitting a couple of beats pretty repetitively and I can't help but feel it's priming TOG's reentry for us.

That being said, can't wait to be proven wrong in just THREE FREAKING DAYS!!! Unless Walmart stops lying to me and actually delivers my book as early as it's claiming it will.

I'm Standing on a Million Lives - Volume 15

I'm impressed that this series has made it this far. Literally no one talks about it, but there are much dumber things being published, so I guess it deserves its spot. It's definitely a mixed bag of highs and lows, but I'm mostly enjoying the ride. Still have no clue how many volumes there's going to be. No end in sight yet.

Ch. 70

Iu is goin badass mode and I'm loving it. Kinda giving Joan of Arc vibes.

The disconnect between Iu casually chopping off someone's fingers in one panel and then freaking out because she killed someone in the next was pretty wacky. Like...girl...what did you think was going to happen? Either way, I guess she got over the shock pretty quick because by the end of the chapter she's just slaughtering everyone lol.

It's kind of surprising that it took the characters this long to be worshipped for their immortality/resurrection ability. Then again, I guess living long isn't as rare in this world since there are sorcerers and dragon bishops and what not.

Ch. 71

This chapter was 100% fantasy politics. It was a struggle reading through all those silly made up names, but there were some interesting nuggets here and there.

We're jumping from one hot button to the next, first was human trafficking as seen in...many places, and next was attacks on journalistic freedom which the characters compare to recent events in Hong Kong.

I hope they give the new girl more to do than be a genki background character. She's on the cover after all! I will say her singing Immigrant Song was pretty hilarious. Certified Shrek moment.

It's kinda funny how this world/game uses community service as its goal. It's not like a twisted death game where you have to kill the other players you just have to...contribute to society lol. I guess that's what makes it interesting because the challenges take a lot more brain/strategy than a death game or RPG-style game might.

Ch. 72

Eh, this chapter was kinda messy. Overall I enjoyed it, but why did they have to bring in a damn awkward narrator every two seconds!? The mangaka does this occasionally and it drives me nuts. This story does not need a narrator and it definitely doesn't need one spelling out exactly what's going on to the reader! It took me out of the story every time. :(

I did like Iu's internal struggle and her analysis of the tricky spot she's been put in. As I've said before, this mangaka is skilled at explaining difficult concepts (politics, sociology, war strategy etc.)

Thank God they sent Glen to help Iu and not Yusuke. This way it's a child asking an adult for help and not a "dumb" woman needing a man. Also, Iu needed Glen because she's emotionally intelligent (unlike Yusuke) and was good at calming her down and validating her choice.

Ch. 73

Okay, I kinda struggled to stay awake reading this one, it was a pretty boring info dump about the politics of the area Yusuke's in and how neither side is great.

Changing someone's entire political trajectory with one song? What is this, an idol anime!? (That scene was stupid lol)

The concept of force feeding someone monster meat to turn them into a berserker is pretty chilling. Fantasy human trafficking is even more brutal than irl trafficking I guess.

I continue to really dislike the made up names of this world. In this chapter it was the Sotaga vs. the Faida. IDK why but they just don't sound like real names to me, my brain rejects them. (IDK what magic makes some made up names sound good and others sound like you threw Scrabble letters at the wall...)

Ch. 74

This chapter was all about berserkers and how they relate to all of the ongoing storylines. I find this kind of fantasy slavery pretty interesting. Instead of IRL slavery where slaves were/are used for work, they're transformed into mindless weapons. Very dark, but I could see this kind of exploitation happening if monsters were real.

Of course the main big bad, president dude is wearing a turban...as this whole arc is a thinly veiled reference to extremists in the middle east. (Just feels weird to make this fantasy world so similar to the real world).

Some pretty brutal kills in this chapter, especially Ling getting curb stomped. I do enjoy that most of the gore is stake-less so it can get extreme like that. (Well I say "gore" but the player character deaths are actually bloodless).

Damn, dat fanservice at the end there. Overall this series hasn't been that fanservicey so it feels a little weird when it's tossed in like that. The art was decent, so I ain't mad.

The over-the-top evil all around (including Yotsuya's sociopathy) is a little eye-roll worthy. Verging into cringey edgy territory a bit.

First of all, thank you for beefy chapters. I personally enjoy them, means I can read a lot more and experience more emotionally. However, please take care of yourself and don't push yourself to churn out big chapters if you don't feel like it. Any sort of update you come out with, know that I will enjoy it and cherish it with my whole heart ❤

Second of all, to reply to the last ask I sent... My fave character from BG3 was Karlach. Honestly, I somehow managed to romance Wyll and then immediately regretted it because Karlach is the best character in that game. My least favourite character was, is and will forever be Gale. I won't go into details because you will see it (if you haven't yet) 😂 And you mentioned Dragon Age and Mass Effect?? Excuse me? Those are like both in my top favourite games! Screaming here in excitement!!!! 😂

Onto this newest chapter... While I was prepared for angst. I was not prepared for ANGST! And while I set the mood with Halsey for the whole chapter, oh shit, my heart 😭 Also, Zoro, seriously? You are such an arse, istg.

Everything, from the first line until the cliffhanger at the end... I am amazed at how you write. It's not just good, it's AMAZING. Each chapter you come out with makes me feel things and believe me, that's hard for me.

Fanfics have been a huge part of my life during some of the darkest times of my life. It's been a safe place for me to go to. Find characters and stories where life is better, someone wants you just as much as you want them if not more. Where you experience those feelings of attraction, that sudden realisation of 'oh shit.' and what comes with it. The fear and excitement of liking someone, the feelings of hurt, disappointment when you miscommunicate or don't communicate enough...

I've been through quite a few awful things in my life in recent years and while I've been free from an extremely toxic person for over a year now, I still feel... broken. Like, I came out from a situation where at the end of it I could not recognise the person in the mirror that was looking back at me. It was bad. And while I am better, there's still this nagging feeling at the back of my head that what if... I won't ever find anyone irl. What if, I will spend the rest of my life by myself?

AND while being alone hasn't been bad and I have learned that my peace is worth A LOT, at the end of the day, it would be nice to share the weight of the world with someone else 🤷‍♀️

It fills me with so many positive feelings and I cannot even begin to describe how happy I get with each new update and to see you interact with everyone who sends you a message. You have a lovely gift. Making people feel emotions with words. Not many people manage to call out to the deepest parts of them, to make them relate and feel with the characters that they are reading about. To experience what the characters feel. And to paint the scenes that it feels you are actually there (in this case, it feels like I watched some bootleg OPLA version because it did not have Doc and Doc needs to be there! Netflix, pls fix this! kthxbye).

I am probably going to bite my nails from anticipation for the next chapter because that ending?? I did not see that coming! 😂 But I hope that this will be a good way for Doc to see more about Nami and for them to bond even more. I would love to see a Zoro POV because I want to see him stewing and beating himself up for being a gigantic ass 😤😤😤 I would also expect him to give shit to Doc for pulling this stunt once they do get reunited, but Doc can shut that shit down because the first words out of Zoro's mouth should be "I'm sorry. I've been an ass. I'm terrified. I did not mean what I said." 😂 And Doc blurting out how she feels and Zoro being cold?! That tore my heart out honestly.

Also, Sanji... I can see Doc and him being good friends. Especially since it will annoy the shit out of Zoro and that's fine by me, because he was a dick to Doc 😂 Though also, they already have a good dynamic going for them that will make them good friends (bonding over Zeff/Naan in the previous chapter). Also, Doc doesn't care about his flirting and that is hilarious to me haha

Wow, it's an essay. Again 😂 I apologise, please let me know if you'd prefer that I don't send in essays into your ask? I get carried away because there's so many things that I feel and I just... rant 😂 There's a lot to comment about and I struggle with summing up my thoughts and feelings?! I apologise!

Disclaimer: I'm going to add a continue reading cut because this is big and beefy and my reply will be equally big and beefy lol.

When it comes to big beefy chapters, it is a habit of mine. I have to like, teach myself to write less in chapters lol but then I HATE is because I feel like I didn't get to explain something the way it should have been explained or a scene between characters doesn't get the attention it deserves. My chapters end up being so long because I am desperately trying to make sure that the scenes, I'm writing all flow together perfectly but then I see it say 15-20k words and I panic lol. Realistically, when you read chapters in books they are at least 10k or more words per chapter. Right? Right??

KARLACH! I love her she is so sweet and cuddly with all her hell fire. Okay. Look. I had to restart Baldur's Gate because I found out I missed Gale and I cannot - CANNOT - function knowing I missed a party member and won't be able to decide if I want to fight them, fuck them, or marry them all on my own lol. It's funny you say he is your least fav and I'm like...the gith chick is currently the one I dislike the most because she is so ugly AND FOR WHAT?? FOR WHAT MA'AM?!?! And YESSSSSS!! Omg Mass Effect and Dragon Age are my favorite series of all time. The story Bioware told with Commander Shephard, my god, is the reason I think I write the way I do. Or part of the reason. The way they built up that world in three incredible games and even made sure in the 3rd to bring every small detail and side mission into the last game to give closure. That is fantastic writing. It's what made me want to write stories just as intricate and infuriating, because that ending....god Commander Shephard deserved BETTER. I will never shut up about this. Does it make sense?? Yes. Do I gotta like it? Hell no.

Thank you so much for being so nice. I struggled a lot with this chapter. I kept feeling like I was falling short or messing something up. So, I would have to get up and work through the dialogue and the scene through my head and when I just genuinely couldn't get over it, I forced myself to continue forward, or I would've deleted it.

Unfortunately, I know all too well what it feels like to experience the same exact thing. So, I am beyond happy that you are safe. You are out and you are learning that the peace of being alone is such an underrated joy, imo. You are so kind to me in telling Netflix to add in Doc lol I would literally die. It is a nice daydream to have to consider that a character created out of love for Oda sensei's vision, in all forms, would be considered. I always do my best to make sure when I speak to anyone who sends me a message or an ask that it is with kindness and gratitude. You all come and speak to me about my work and how it is something you enjoy, that it helps them, and all the while you are all helping me too. I know everyone is hating on Zoro right now (for absolutely good reason) and it's funny but while I wrote him I just knew he had to do it. He's this 19-year-old petty pain in the ass who never considered having a relationship outside of his swords. He meets girl and instead of her being like everyone else, they ZING. Neither of them can explain it or understand it but they don't have to. The universe is funny like that sometimes.

Sanji and Doc are about to give Zoro a fuckin' run for his money and he is just going to have to grin and bear it because he has no choice. While he is equally gonna be pissed, she up and did something so stupid he is forgetting Doc is still equally pissed at how he reacted to her. Two idiots fighting over who is the pettiest. Always.

I do not mind your long replies or asks! These are some of my favorites and I have so much fun discussing things with you! The fact you also love Mass Effect and Dragon Age?? I AM ALIVE AND BURNING! X-Force #37

“Time for the big reveal of the main villain that we’ve all been waiting for!” Yeah…the main villain that I literally only learned about last issue, oh yeah so much anticipation (I kid (somewhat) because yes I only started reading this at #29 or whenever)

Anywhos, we pick up where we left off. Beast bragging how he’s so smart for letting the bad guy steal a respawning egg that he totally can’t use and they can use to track him (spoiler: that failed, bad guy is winning, beast is terrible). Deadpool is bored, Arkady stares at a walk in between throwing Wade off a waterfall (see my previous post about that). Then this

1) we are still allergic to editorial boxes cause Dom’s referencing things still

2) kinda interesting Arkady is included in the scene about ‘reawakening lost memories’ after I went off about the wall maybe referencing Weapon X-Force. And no he did not *need* to be in this scene, Sage and Beast were not in the waterfall break room, he didn’t need to follow Dom in there.

We spend a bunch of time with our villain, since you know, gotta establish the newly introduced bad guy’s motivations.

Ok I won’t harp about Arkady’s coils having nothing to do with his biology, since it seems Logan’s metal and Wade’s costume were cloned too…I will however question why Dom is the only one with clothing (Wade excluded). But also, yet another shot of (an) Arkady in a tank naked with well placed bubbles lol

Wait a second that’s an editorial box!! Wth! You get this was important to site, but all of Dom’s stuff isn’t??? Did Dom’s stuff actually all happen off panel to begin with and that’s why we get no reference notes?

Oh the memo answers my questions about how if the kid was a baby he aged so fast. But wow, he was one of the ‘here it’s your problem now’ babies. Like wow. The island of stupid’s childcare system is still just as terrible if genetic terrorists can steal babies.

So Dom gets a mind meld to get her missing memories back to help them find the bad guys. One would think those would’ve been permanently deleted by now…

Oh peacock man is making mutants for Mikhail…because that’s such an important plot point…but wait I thought he wanted to make super humans?

We get our bad guy’s backstory. He’s a clone, created by the Genengineer (or however that’s spelt), a guy I’ve never heard of and I’m too lazy to look it up right now. Basically he was being Dr Moreau but with mutants instead of animals, and peacock man has mega levels of clone angst about it so thus is doing the same exact thing. Yeah. Not really that compelling. *shrugs*

The gang heads for the bad guys

Awww friends sharing secrets lol. But seriously I wonder what Arkady did actually whisper, and if Wade’s just hamming it up to annoy him.

Omr another caption box. Now I’m really confused why nothing Dom says about her time being peacock man’s pincushion was sited.

But our chapter ends with the gang arriving in the island to be ambushed by skinless monkeys (are they in dnd now??) and peacock man revealing his super Frankenstein hybrid of X-Force members and…it’s far less silly than the one from that cover, but it’s still terribly silly.

Overall this was serviceable I guess. It did info dump a lot about the villain all at once, but if the final act so I guess it’s the time too. Kinda annoying though that the only plots going on in the X-books lately are either “The Island if Stupid has infighting” or “Crazy scientist is making super mutants” because yeah…X-Force has the same base plot as Sabretooth/Exiles right now.

Reading adventures! Just the Ticket by Lynn Lamb

Okay, so, I have a lot of thoughts about this book. I loved the premise. The book follows Hannah Lennon and her aunt Justice after they unexpectedly win the lottery. Hannah is definitely autistic coded. I really can't tell if the author is painting that as a negative or not. (not my autistic brain being unable to pick up subtext, lol)

Hannah moves from her small town in Montana out to California to try living in a mansion for a month to see if she likes it enough to buy. How, exactly, did the realtors know she had come into money recently and might be looking for a house? Was she looking on sites? The book doesn't tell us.

Out in California, she meets Brady, the chauffeur, and they hit it off right away. They are very cute together. It's a tad insta-lovey but not too bad.

They soon learn that Harrison Spencer, her uncle, is causing trouble back in Montana, looking for them. His millionaire business is failing and he has somehow learned that they won the lottery recently. He feels entitled to part of it for some reason. Her aunt Justice comes out to stay with Hannah far away from Spencer. He burns down their home (why?) so they know he is ticked off and might come after them. They hire a bodyguard and warn the staff. Meanwhile, Emma, one of the housemaids, tells Brady to get close to Hannah to try to convince her she needs this house. She, meanwhile, has been keeping secret the way she fell into her millions. Because, of course, we also need miscommunication in the mix.

Brady and Hannah get together and it's all cute, but then she overhears the houseworkers talking about her and Brady and how they have asked him to befriend Hannah. Why discuss this IN the house where she could easily overhear? She does not confront him, but she is confused and a bit standoffish after that. They attend a party of one of Brady's childhood friends and meet Claudia, who is Brady's ex. She is clearly jealous and bitter over being dumped, even however many years ago. She finds Hannah alone later (how convenient) and info dumps for an entire chapter on how much of a spoiled rich brat Brady was back then. Hannah gets upset and leaves hurriedly.

Once she reaches the mansion again, she sees a man in black watching her. She hurries to the house, but he follows and attacks her. She kicks him and he goes down. She rushes to the house, but he gets up fairly quickly and chases her all the way to the panic room in the bedroom, where she calls the police and they come rescue her. It's an exciting chapter. I was really concerned for her. It turns out to be one of Harrison Spencer's men, coming after her (to do what, exactly?) Next thing we know, Spencer is being arrested (for what??) and they are safe again.

The last chapter is just Hannah settling into her new home. We aren't told if it's the one she was originally sent out to see or if it's the second one she fell in love with. She and Brady are taking college classes and are together again and she is happy.

I don't know. I liked this book, but I was very confused in places and annoyed in others. The misunderstanding was so unnecessary and the info dumping chapter really had no place in the story. Some pluses: I liked that the main character shares my name. That's fun. And I appreciated her autistic coded traits, as an autistic gal myself. I liked the premise, and the plot line was interesting. Good book, with a few irritating tropes.

so i remember during my first playthrough i always wondered what happened to roi, and while i didn't get the direct answer i was hoping for as i cut through my second playthrough, i did read on the wiki that the dark entity (ochette's chapter 1 boss) is heavily implied to be roi corrupted and transformed. which is kind of making me go crazy because thats just really cool to me

obvs i should take a lot of info from fandom wikis with a grain of salt (especially the octopath wiki which is very rough around the edges in places) but the departing words the entity says before disappearing matching with roi's words in his final conversation with temmy... plus the sprite having a tattered white and teal colored robe on the back....... I'M INSANE ABOUT THIS. THIS IS SO COOL AAA

the wiki also mentions that roi's disappearance was likely the moonshade order had found and killed him when he was trying to get rid of the darkblood bow (later to be given to petrichor). it makes me wonder if his transformation came about in a similar way the darkling of the sorrowful moon came into existence (perhaps harvey got his hands on him? i shudder at the thought. imagine if ori namedropped him in her diary entries. i think i would have lost my mind)

MAN. i just think it's so cool how much octopath 2 improved interconnecting all 8 travelers' stories together for the endgame chapter, even in just little character overlapping details like this (or trousseau defecting to the moonshade order because of claude's influence as another example). i loooved octopath 1 don't get me wrong and reading the long text dumps about how everything came together was cool, but the way octopath 2 did is is just so much more fun and honestly feels more intentional? (some of octopath 1's stories had some pretty loose connections to the grand plot... like i can barely remember how therion's connected tbh)

The Golden Enclaves was a doozy in both the good and the bad way. It was a hell of a trilogy and I really liked the concept of magic and how it works, and the mals that constantly plague them all. Overall, I'm happy with how it ended but I definitely have some complaints too.

I love that this book picks up right where that cliffhanger ended. Straight off from the gate, El's emotions and actions are enough to bring me to tears because the desperation is there. She's trying EVERYTHING to save Orion, to bring him back, and it fails. This first part is so wonderfully written. It's a shame that after that, all the emotional parts really don't hit very well. We get told how El feels throughout the book but there's no depth or rawness to it that didn't hit me. There was several good quotes that did feel very emotional. But I do feel like this anger and grief gets labeled but we don't really get to dive into it.

The friendships that El made and also meeting her mother finally was something I was really looking forward to. I understand why she didn't reach out to anyone in the beginning. That grieving part was done well. But, throughout the book, El barely has any conversations with her friends or moments with her friends? Yes, they were country hopping around, but it just was incredibly disappointing. We don't get much with her mom. Aad, Sarah, and Liu are fairly absent, Liu understandably but still, and we spent those two books of El really gaining them to just have them barely there.

I am here for sapphic representation, I understand why it happened, but I didn't really like how it was handled and done. I mean, this might be a personal thing but if someone I LOVED ended up dying, I can't see myself fucking someone else to feel good a week later? I can wrap my head around it, but I don't understand it emotionally and maybe that's because I'm a cold person lol. Also, we're told Liesel never does anything without a calculated plan and we already know that Liesel wants El on her side to join her thirty year plan. Liesel says she didn't do it for anything like that but El throws the thought out there and it just doesn't leave a good taste in her mouth. Also, I kind of barely remember Liesel really from the books? Not like Sarah and Aad and Liu, so it is felt jarring to have her be so important suddenly. If it was one time, I could have made my peace with it. But it happens a second time, literally two chapters after having sex with Orion. There's NO emotional reason for this. El states that while she thought about seeing other people she only wants to SEE HIM. And still does this after. I know officially they aren't together, but it feels like cheating. It just does.

I figured Orion was alive and I was so glad he was! The whole reveal about him was shocking. I actually didn't mind his acting differently because that made sense, he wasn't entirely himself now. Again, these emotional hits didn't hit hard enough at all. Orion's mom was a bit of a surprise but altogether a weak villain? We're told she's super dangerous but other than what she did to Orion, it never seemed like she did that much. She's the villain of good intentions I guess but also super evil but you can't really buy any of that? She's just in the background noise until relevant.

I did really enjoy how the prophecy worked out, how the Sutras were essential, how the Enclaves were created and how easy it was to accept the horrid cost, and just the balance of El and Orion. I really enjoyed the whole of it. Mawmouths and breaking the Enclaves, etc. El is a great character but she's also notoriously exhausting in her long winded info-dumps that often feel more confusing than if you were to just TELL us. I can't tell you much about the belief, mana, malia, pocket dimensions, reality, etc that this book is about. I found myself zoning out a few times in the middle of infodumps.

The ending was a big dump of information as well but the final part was really good. I love that El helped killed him and saved him, and brought back the good that Scholomance was supposed to be. And that the future she was desperately trying to avoid isn't as terrible as she thought. It was done really nicely and I am happy that both are okay and alive and in love with each other by the end.

Hey! I’m really thinking about writing some LITG2 fan fiction. I don’t think there’s a lot out there since it’s so new. But I’m thinking about writing a Will fan fic (going the way that we actually wanted it to lol) and kinda rewriting it so that it’s Will instead of Bruno/James. Maybe an frenemies to lovers? Or MC finds him annoying at first but then grows to love him? Im not sure yet. But do you have any tips?

hello!! you know, these asks about advice get me soft, holy shit!

so, i love the idea of you writing a frenemies-to-lovers with will, since we know he's a slowburn (so far it has been implied he is indeed an end-game option).

i don't know will from the game because i'm not playing the season, but still, i want to help, so these are the tips i want to give you about this specific trope.

writing frenemies or enemies-to-lovers

support roles. you need a good support system for your main characters (oc and will), because that's also how you convey information without doing an info dump on your reader. the friends having an arc goes a long way as well, especially if one of them have feelings for one of the parts (like james or thabi).

banter. it has to stick the landing and be witty as it needs to be stressful for the reader. when i read something that has good, witty responses, even if i know what the final word or phrase is gonna be, i'm still excited to see the delivery.

be mean! it's quite normal to have two people trying to hit where it hurts when having a heated discussion or altercation. don't be afraid to go there with your characters. they can be pulling each other's balls over small things and still have a big impact on the story. which takes me to the next point:

this could be the entryway for them to find conciliation. if someone exaggerated too much on the banter it could potentially hurt the other's feelings, that would go to show both parts do have feelings but they never realize that because the only thing they see is an enemy.

watch some roasts to get inspiration. i did that when i was writing a different piece (that may or may not be released at some point) and it surely helped! i got so many shots fired from both parts that i couldn't stop writing and i had the best time in the process!

you need comedy! don't forget the people around them, they're not just a landscape, they're an audience, and not only to hear the main characters arguing. they're essentially your comical relief, otherwise your story will become tired and stressful without it. think of the people watching them constantly showing expressions like:

when falling in love happens. in my opinion there's more reluctance about admitting that you have feelings for them when you hate each other. it doesn't happen overnight and there's lots of resistance about it, even to admit to themselves that those feelings have changed. which takes me to next point:

awkwardness. this is where the second most fun moment happens, when they're aware about their feelings but still proud enough to not say anything. will or your oc could potentially be staring at the other, stealing glances without noticing, not knowing how to give a good comeback and lose the debate, etc.

building up to something tender. perhaps one of them would say things about how the other chews (or something that annoys them) and suddenly, when in a group scene, they don't say anything. when asked they could respond "it's not that bad i guess" while shrugging. the affection has to happen little by little, otherwise it's too sudden and it feels like we've skipped a few chapters.

eventually, when it happens. again, in my opinion, this is pretty much the end of the story, and of course we want to see the couple being happy, but just because that happened it doesn't mean they can't exchange a shot or two. it could possibly be a turn-on for them, it's up to you to decide.

the one thing i always keep in mind when writing enemies is to pay attention to their body language during those exchanges. they're always tense, feeling flushed and even warm sometimes. you need to define those feelings with a description of the scene instead of telling the reader as it is. be subtle about the hints of agitation in both characters.

use the environment! mugs can be placed on the counter with anger, chairs can be dragged producing an annoying noise, pillows can be chucked with violence, someone can splash the other while jumping into the pool... all those things can play a huge role on your scene so use the space around them.

and i would like to add a little extra here: whenever i write someone angry or upset, they have a little... tick. something specific to them. for instance, i'm writing a guy named ben, who has long and straight hair, and whenever he's nervous he plays with the ends by reaching for them behind his back. when he's mad or about to argue he immediately puts his hair on a bun. find something that can fit with your character's personality and looks and go bunkers with that little tick when they're angry, nervous, sad. once the reader sees that happening they'll associate it with previous moments and immediately know the tone you're going for in that scene.
