I would love to just... even one time... have some kind of profound explanation for the parallels that are coming up during this Throne of Glass reread. Like what do I even do with this?
I haven't seen anyone draw this parallel between Elide's extra sensory bad vibes of the Stone Marshes in TOG and Nesta's vision in the Prison in ACOSF... but it's CERTAINLY there. (Edit: I fully believe some SJM scholar out there has not only found this, but drawn far superior conclusions lol & I encourage them to enlighten me please!!)
What does one do when "even Death itself bows to the 26th string" and Fae trying to claw their way through stone comes up in BOTH?! Asking for a friend.

I know this sounds insane, but...
Danika Fendyr is the 7th Asteri, and quite literally, lives on inside of Bryce's heart.
SPOILERS FOR CC AND ACOTAR!
---
I have long since believed that when a character in the SJM universe dies, they are reincarnated into the next world.
The most solid proof of this is the Bone Carver. When he first meets Feyre, he asks her multiple questions about her death; whether she saw a "portal" into a new world, and if she was given a new "body."
Tumblr media
Then in HOSAB, the concept of going somewhere else when you die is brought up several times.
For example, Bryce questions it:
Tumblr media
And even the River Queen suggests that there is a new world after death:
Tumblr media
This quote cements it further; the way for one's soul to travel in and out of the world, is through birth and death.
Tumblr media
And, let's not forget Cassian's famous quote about finding Nesta in the "next world," and the "next life."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet most importantly of all, in the ACOTAR world, we witness Starfall. It is said to be souls migrating.
This is further backed up by CC2, when we learn that the Asteri have been stealing 'secondlight' (a term for people's souls), which aligns with Rhys's observations that the stars in Starfall have been dwindling in number's each year.
But, for the purpose of this theory, the most important point is this; everyone's soul is literally a STAR.
It's for this reason, that I believe everyone possesses a star in their chest; it is their SOUL.
So, what is Bryce's power then?
We are lead to believe that Bryce's power - the Starborn power - is a star in her chest. That's true, but I don't think it's the full picture.
If our souls are stars, then I believe that Bryce's power is simply being able to wield the light of her own soul. Essentially, Bryce can pull her soul out of her own chest.
As further proof of this, recall that the very first time we see Bryce use her Starborn power, it was said that a "lock" clicked open in Bryce's HEART and SOUL.
Tumblr media
And I mean, look at Bryce's chest on the cover of HOEAB:
Tumblr media
Queen Theia.
With this in mind, and knowing that reincarnation is highly likely; Aidas mentioning that Bryce and Theia's light is the same "hue," and that "Bryce's light is Theia's light" - is very interesting.
Again, if souls are indeed stars, and the star that Bryce wields is the same as Theia's - this suggests that their souls are one and the same. That Bryce literally possesses Theia's soul; she is her reincarnation.
There's a bunch of evidence to point to this being correct, but the most pointed is the HOSAB scene in the gym; Bryce has a feeling that she is falling through "time and space;" but that she wanted to stay in "this body," and "this place."
Tumblr media
But, as insane as this sounds - I don't believe that Theia is the only soul inside of Bryce's chest. I think someone else is there too...
Danika Fendyr.
I have always suspected that Danika was also someone powerful, reborn again. This suspicion grew stronger when I realised that the "ancient alphabet" that Danika used to tattoo Bryce, was actually wyrdmarks.
However, it was this parallel that cemented it for me;
At the end of HOEAB, Bryce looks towards the Bone Quarter and can see the 6 members of the Pack of Devils. However, the 7th member, Danika, is now gone.
Tumblr media
What does this sound like...?
The Asteri. 6 remaining, the 7th gone.
The 7th Asteri.
I believe that Danika was a reincarnation of the 7th Asteri - Sirius.
In real life, Sirius was often known as the "Morning Star."
What does the name "Danika" mean...?
Morning Star.
Tumblr media
Further, recall that Bryce and Danika each traded their own souls to the Under King to save each other. I truly believe that when Danika died, her soul, or a part of it, *literally* lives on within Bryce's chest/heart.
And... this is HOW THEY DID THE DROP.
In HOEAB, it is stated that the Drop is the act of plummeting into your own soul;
Tumblr media
Who does Bryce find when she does the Drop, right into her own chest (despite it being... impossible?)
DANIKA!
And, right before Bryce ascends back up, Danika says "even if you can't see me, I will always be with you."
Bryce then says, "she had never been alone, she never would be - NOT WITH DANIKA WITHIN HER HEART" !!
Tumblr media
Although you may argue that this was merely just a figure of speech - I don't think it is.
Because, recall that when the Prime of the Wolves witnessed Bryce racing around to defeat the demons at the end of HOEAB, he said that "one wolf remained" in the Old Square. Sabine assumes that he must be mistaken; that he is instead registering Danika's sword that Bryce is holding. But, the Prime of the Wolves looks at Bryce, and then points to his HEART AND CHEST, and then calls Bryce a "TRUE WOLF."
Tumblr media
And again, in the next book, the Prime once again calls Bryce a wolf, whilst pointing to his chest/heart.
Tumblr media
But he's not referring to Bryce,
HE'S REFERRING TO DANIKA!
And, who was Sirius the Asteri known as?
THE WOLF STAR.
Tumblr media
This explains why, after the Drop, Bryce seemingly inherited the *identical* power of the Asteri overnight (something I had already made a theory about - the resemblance was just uncanny).
It's because of DANIKA'S SOUL! (And likely also the Horn and the Synth; but, both were orchestrated by, you guessed it, DANIKA!)
This is why Jesiba told Bryce that she won't find any traces of Danika in the Bone Quarter; because her soul is literally within Bryce.
Tumblr media
And, if you still don't believe it, then recall when Bryce found out that Baxian was Danika's mate. To present proof, Baxian revealed the tattoo Danika gave him; again, of the infamous words "through love, all is possible."
Bryce then says this - and the wording here is very important - the tattoo was "one last clue from Danika, to LOOK WHERE SHE'D STAMPED THE PHRASE."
Tumblr media
Where had Danika put the tattoo?
ON HIS HEART!
Tumblr media
"Through love, all is possible."
Through LOVE - through BRYCE'S HEART - the impossible has been made possible.
I think it was a literal clue; the heart and soul - where love resides - is where Danika has always been.
Interestingly, Baxian also tells us that Danika was trying to find a way into a "new world."
Tumblr media
And where has Bryce just recently landed? Prythian. A new world.
The impossible, made possible.
Sirius and Orion.
I also believe that Hunt is the reincarnation, or possesses the soul of Thurr; who was a powerful God (that's for another theory post...). It's why Bryce says, countless times, that Hunt and Thurr look *identical.*
I am inclined to think that in some way, Thurr and Sirius, or Thurr and the wolves were connected; perhaps the wolves protected Thurr, or were his loyal servants.
Because that's exactly how the mythology around the Orion and Sirius constellations goes; Sirius was immortalised in the sky to keep watch, and guard Orion.
Tumblr media
Perhaps it is not just Bryce that has been looking out for Hunt, but Danika too.

A mini fanfic of what I wish Cassian would tell Nesta, post HOFAS bonus chapter.
***
Of all the things that could have happened Nesta did not expect a red-headed alien, with an eight-pointed star on her chest twin to the one stamped across her own heart, to completely change everything she knew about her world—about life itself. That there were other worlds out there, with powerful beings that walked between them, leaving a path of death and destruction in their wake.
She had never expected other planets full of fae, let alone humans, to be hunted and brutalized, to be turned into a source of food and entertainment for intergalactic parasites. It was for the sake of the humans that she handed over the mask. She couldn't bare the thought of them at the mercy of the Asteri, with nothing to defend themselves, so she made the choice to help the female who called herself Bryce, and loaned her what might just tip the scales in their favour.
And then Rhysand and Cassian found out. She didn't care that Rhysand was upset with her, for she could scarcely remember when the high lord was not. It was Cassian's reaction that ate at her. He was furious, even more than Rhysand was.
She remembered Ember's horrified expression when she quipped Rhysand might execute her for her alleged treason. Rhysand wouldn't, of course, if not for Feyre and Cassian. She supposed Ember didn't understand her particular brand of dark humour, and she'd had to promise her that she was safe, that there was no impending execution to be had. The silver lining to it all, however was watching Ember Quinlan, a human woman, hand Rhysand his own ass, something not even Amren had successfully done.
It had been days since she and Cassian spoke. Once again they were fighting. He was angry that she had done the unthinkable and given a trove item to a prisoner. And she was livid that he had taken Rhysand's side in all this. That Rhysand would have preferred her to kill Bryce before handing over the mask.
She had not been this enraged since she had been locked up in the House of Wind and carted off to the Illyrian mountains. She was not some simpering female to be ordered about. She understood the consequences of her actions and decided if the people of Midgard were not safe, then no one was safe. The threat of the Asteri would have eventually reared it's ugly head upon Prythian and enslaved them all. She had seen what one of them could do, in the prison, she couldn't imagine what a host of them might do if they got their hands on Bryce and ripped open a portal to their world.
When Bryce appeared she had no time to do much else but offer the mask, it was a fleeting moment, a wrinkle in time and space and then Bryce was hurtling back to her world, gone before she even had time to blink, the portal winking out with her, leaving her parents as collateral. Those days with Ember had been everything to Nesta. She was the mother she never had. Warm, loving, understanding—so unlike the one who birthed her.
During those days Ember and Randall were the only two she had the heart to interact with, other than Azriel. She and Cassian were not talking and it began to show. Ember was the one who brought it up. Said that it wasn't healthy for them to avoid eachother like this. She had Randall talk to Cassian about it as well. She supposed they were right, how many more days could she lock herself up in her room. How many more nights could she sleep alone?
That was when the knock came. And the house, the traitorous house, opened it's doors to reveal Cassian. She didn't want him to see her crying, to see her weakness. She sniffed back tears and seethed, "go away."
——
Cassian’s hazel eyes locked with Nesta’s, two endless pools of blue grey. Eyes he could get lost in, that could drown him in their depths. Something fractured in him as he watched a lone tear trickle down her cheek, escaping that carefully constructed mask she always wore.
Their bedroom was littered in piles of discarded books. Some half opened with cracked spines, shoved to the side ranging from smut to battle strategy. Steaming mugs of tea and trays laden with truffles and petit fours were scattered across the room. As if the house was desperate to comfort the female standing before him.
“I—I am so sorry.” He said. His voice low, cracking. It was not the only thing that cracked.
“That’s not enough.” She said, in the ghost of a whisper.
“Nesta…” Cassian said, his voice strained, as he lifted a hand towards her. She flinched, backing away.
“Please… just talk to me… tell me what to do…” he pleaded.
“I’m so tired of this. I’m so tired of everyone telling me I’m wrong, of having you—the one person—my person—doubt me," she said, swallowing deeply, as if there wasn't enough air in her lungs.
"How could you—?" she breathed, feigning her head to the side, as if trying to hide that thing inside that threatened to burst. Her eyes turned silver, not with flame, but with tears. Tears that would devour him and her. That would devour the world. Cassian would rather have been burned by that unholy fire he'd seen in her eyes. Would rather be turned to ash, a thousand times over, than see those tears falling from them.
As if sensing the onslaught, a soft, cotton napkin materialized in Nesta's hand.
“I know—I know.” He whispered as he watched red splotches spread across her face while she shuddered and heaved. The navy blue drapes unhooked themselves, sliding across the brass railing to cover the bay windows overlooking Velaris, as if to conceal the crying female from any potential onlookers flying by.
“You know what the worst part of it is—I don’t think you know what it is that you did wrong,” she faltered, wiping her tears on the cloth provided to her by the house.
“That you think I did not consider your soldiers, your brothers in arms, who might lose their lives if a war came here. I did consider it, I thought of everything. And all I could think of was about someone like my father, who wouldn’t stand a chance—"
"So I gave them a chance.” She choked out, ringing the cloth in her hands. "I gave them a chance," she repeated.
“And I took one too. But you—you couldn’t take one on me.” She faltered. As each word landed he felt those threads between them slacking. As if their very souls were unravelling.
Something inside of him felt like it was drowning, as if wave after wave were crashing down on that thing in his chest, beaten and battered. Threatening to drag him in the undertow of the storm he was facing.
“Let me make it right. Give me that chance I should have given you.” he pleaded.
“That’s not enough Cassian. It’s not enough and you know it. I refuse to be second when I put you first.” Something flickered in her eyes before quickly sputtering out. He promised himself then and there that he would never let that ember inside of her die out. That he would spend his life dedicated to kindling that fire. That he was a mere shadow that could only exist in the presence of her flame.
“I once told you I have no regrets in my life. Well I was wrong. I regret ever hurting you, ever causing you a moment of pain, ever doubting you. Not putting you first. Because I was afraid. Afraid of disappointing people. But you're the only person who matters. And I will spend whatever time I have left in this life showing you that, if you give me the chance. And if that’s not enough I will keep on trying. As long as you let me."
“Why now? What’s different? What’s changed?” Nesta narrowed her reddened eyes. “Aren’t you sick of being shackled to me?” She squared her shoulders, her eyes turning into two silver slits, giving him that "I will slay my enemies look" that nearly had him falling to his knees.
“The thought of living life without you is unbearable. Without you I am nothing. It's why I was so angry—I was thinking about you. Of losing you. It wasn't just about the last war. It was about what would happen in this one. All I could think of was you throwing your body on top of mine and nearly dying. And—." The words tumbled out of him, erratic and desperate.
"And what a world without you might look like. So I—I lost my mind." He said, his voice thick, eyes pleading.
"Nesta, being your mate is the greatest honour of my life. And I am sorry that I have ever made you feel otherwise."
The space between them waned, and the room somehow became smaller, as if the house was closing the distance between them.
Cassian slipped Nesta’s hand in his and slowly lifted it to that shattered place upon his chest. “You are my everything Nesta Archeron. You are my soul. My heart. My life.”
Clutching her hand to him, he lowered himself, until he was kneeling before her. She could feel his heart pounding, her own beating to the same chaotic tune, as if each pulse and each breath was taken together.
“I love you.” The words spilled out of him. “I have always loved you.”
Somehow he gripped her hand even tighter against his chest and she sunk her nails in. It felt as if she was holding his heart in her palm. Perhaps she truly was. And he just held her hand there, as she marked him. Five crescent shapes imprinted on him, dotted in red, from the base to the apex of his heart, her signature, her claiming.
“And I will always love you.” He breathed, his eyes wet, his face lifted up, meeting hers.
“I love you too.” She whispered, voice hoarse, as she grabbed at his chest, now pulling him towards her until there was no space left between them. Until their lips were crashing against one another, breathing the other in. And those golden threads began to weave themselves back together until they shone, forming an eight pointed star, a guiding light, their compass home.
"You're lucky that I believe in second chances." Nesta said, a slow smile breaking across her face like the sun peaking through the twilight sky. And it was all he needed before he met her smile with one of his own, before he pulled her down to him, until they were flush against eachother.
"I am lucky,” he whispered in her ear, his breath hot, mouth hungry, as he traced his lips along the curve of her neck, “the luckiest male alive.”

I know I keep coming back to this… but another thing about the Ruhn/Rhysand resemblance tease and then the actual events of HOFAS that is bugging me:
Why did Azriel end up with Truth Teller, and Nesta with the Starsword, if Ruhn (who is Starborn and actually wields the sword for a minute there) and Rhys are the two who have a connection??
Like again. I just wanted more out of it than I got. There were some good moments in the book, but I think my SJM expectations are just so high that it’s hard to hit them (which is only because she’s created such amazing stories in her books!).

Post HOFAS Thoughts
Obviously everything below here is a spoiler, so read at your own risk.
This isn't going to be in any particular order, just as things pop into my head.
What I liked
How Bryce and the ACOTAR characters weren't buddy-buddy at all. It's was more realistic that both groups would be super hesitant of the other
Nesta's characterization- wonderful, stunning, powerful. This is the Nesta that ACOSF deserved and didn't get.
Bryce and Nesta's reluctant friendship, I loved that these two misunderstood women were able to create even just a minimum bond
Az and Nesta asking about the cell phone, amazing (BC)
Understanding the death mask and it's abilities more.
The information dump about Theia- I did not like how much of it there was to process BUT I loved how the characters saw the evil the Fae had brought with their colonization and did not try to bury that.
Bryce stealing TT, Az wasn't giving that up and it would be out of character for him to do so (unless he was giving it to his mate (🌷)
I kind of liked the Sassy Asteri (Verperous?)
Ruhn cracking jokes about two angels and a Fae walking into a dungeon- hilarious
Lidia's arc was interesting seeing as she has murdered and tortured people before she defected, but SJM was able to give her a redemption arc where people aren't forgiving her for that past, but seeing her for trying to make amends in the present/future. That is a hard arc to pull off.
Lidia nuzzling Ruhn before running off my god my heart
Hypaxia dumping Celestina (good), getting thrown out of her coven (bad) and THEN becoming the head of the HOFAS? Yas Queen! Slay!
Hunt working through his PTSD and Bryce giving him tough love about it, either you're with us or you're not. I know it's harsh but with what was going on it was realistic.
Ithan becoming prime
Sabine dying and being thrown into a sewer. TBH the sewers deserve better.
Hypaxia in general. No one in this series would be anywhere without her. I said what I said.
Tharion stepping up to marry Sathia (was that her name) More on this f*cker later
This one is weird: the torture chamber. SJM made that as messy as possible. She did not have to mention the poop and pee on the floor (these things happen during torture, but it's not exactly sexy for 3 characters to be rolling in it) so props to her I guess? Told you it's a weird one
Bryce and Ruhn taking down Fae Kings and making Avellen a Fae paradise WITH PEGASUS!!!!
The Princes of the Pit. I want them to have their own series omg.
LIDIA TORCHING POLLUX AND EVERYONE
Did I mentioned wanting more of the Princes of the Pit?
Bryce killing and Asteri by hand. Again, slay Queen.
Sahar coming in at the end and helping Hunt save Bryce
JESIBA! My girl sacrificing herself for her assistant (I laughed while crying)
Nesta and Ember's relationship
Bryce dismantling the Fae monarchy.
Ruhm calling Rhys something along the lines of "that High Lord dude." Yes. Excellent. More people need to do this.
Bryce and Hunt being endgame. Forever. Full stop.
What I didn't like
Bryce seemed to lose a few brain cells in this book...like opening the sarcophagus of an Asteri is dumb...
Bryce hearing Azriel when he was following her and Nesta- Cassian even said in ACOSF that unless Az wanted to be heard, you don't hear him.
Az using his power to try and bind the Asteri- bb no. They absorb that, did you also lose brain cells since ACOSF?
THARION YOU DUMB MF. This man pissed me off so much with all his bad choices one after another since the end of HOSAB.
Sigrid? Like...what was the point of her? Literally it was WE HAVE A NEW FENDYR ALPHA! Oh no I accidentally decapitated her....like what?
Ariadne was there and then not and then there. Ok?
Pollux.
Ithan's b plot, which I understand why it was there, really slowed down the pacing.
All the middle fingers? Why was everyone just flipping everyone else off all the time?
Also lines like this showed up a few times, "it could have been minutes, years really." When something was happening...like what?
I love me spicy scenes, they were awkwardly placed in this story.
RUHN AND LIDIA JUST LIKE NOT CARING THAT DEC AND FLYNN WERE MISSING?
What I think will happen next
SJM said we're getting more CC books, I am thinking they are going to focus more on other potential couples now that Bryce and Hunt's story has seemingly ended. And I swear if Bryce is pregnant in the next one...
I think a big all out war is coming (in ACOTAR) against the Asteri/Daglan somehow, and all characters from all three world with go to Prythian for a battle
Lidia is absolutely a decedent of Aelin and Rowan so that has to play out somehow.
Lidia's kids are going to become important- I am wondering about their bio dad because it's said he was a shifter, and this is me being all conspiracy theory but: What if their bio dad was a descendent of Fenrys? They are twins, one with fair hair (Fenrys) one with dark hair (Connall) and we don't know their abilities yet...it's a reach but I am calling it
Monarchy systems of government suck, democracy all the way, but uh here's to hoping SJM writes one in that works better than what most democratic countries have (looking at you USA)
The emo like Reaper that Hypaxia used to compare samples to, I am curious if he is going to turn into someone/something in later books. Just the whole scene seemed like he would become important later on. I don't know it's just a feeling.
As I have more time to process and marinate with this book I'll probably add more. In the end I'd give HOFAS a 3.5/5 it got bogged down quite a bit with exposition, characters just making dumb choice after dumb choice, and plot lines seemingly leading to nowhere. Bryce and Hunt remained a really strong FMC/MMC lead, my fav of all the series, the side characters were mostly interesting and kept everything going (looking at you Ithan) but all and all, I enjoyed the book!

So after I read the HOFAS snipett I initially thought Bryce was in the Court of Nightmares but the one that makes the most sense to me right now is they’re in the Prison.
The quote says :
Tumblr media
“Daylight must have been a myth for the creatures that inhabited here”
For Bryce to say "CREATURES THAT INHABITED HERE”
I think she’s talking about the Prisoners in the Prison.
Also this is how Nesta described the Prison when she visited…
Tumblr media
The same way Bryce described where she was in the snipett saying it looked like Hell. And considering the storyline the Priosn makes the most sense to me because it has more significance regarding CC3.
The Prison is where Nesta found the eight pointed star and in SJM’s interview after HOSAB she said we should take note of the eight pointed star it’ll be important in CC3
The Prison is where she found the harp sitting on the eight pointed star and we know the harp can transport/winnow through time and space.
Cassian saying the Prison was created by beings who ruled before the High Lords. Those beings are the Daglan AKA The Asteri.
I think whatever steps Bryce is taking in Prythian have to be ones that’ll move her closer to finding Hel and going back home. And plotwise the Prison has more significance and history (relating to Bryce) than Under the Mountain (Hewn City)
Lastly I’ve seen people say maybe it’s the library…I don’t think it is because there are no creatures under the library. And I don’t think the library is that scary that someone would describe it as Hell.
But again it’s just a snipett and we can’t be sure though it’s fun to theorize🥹

Was doing a deep dive for a future post about *gestures wildly* witches... Manon's lineage... cross-world connections... something I've found that feels actually tangible, maybe. Anyway, despite only dipping a toe into the ToD reread so far (I am not a ToD hater lol I'm just busy) I found myself checking a moment from KoA and took a nosedive into something immediately shinier. But it was so sudden I didn't have time to do my usual highlights/scribbles on my (currently dead) ipad so... enjoy my measly Kindle highlights.
I KNOW many folks have beautifully analyzed SJM's repeated character names because at one point SJM herself basically said, "I keep a record of all of them and I know what I've used."
I've seen folks flag important repeats for years now (we've seen this film before, A+ work, it keeps me up at night!), but the heavy hitters have been Briar, Thanatos, Cormac and even Ruhn (you know... the Erilean mountains and the hottie who knows 3 things).
So it stands to reason that repeated names might deserve some extra scrutiny... And I pray we get some pay off with that in CC3.
Anyway, as I'm pulling at the thread of ToG witches via our (my) favorite queen - Manon - I hadn't realized I fully forgot her dad's name. Frankly, of all the plot points from ToG, Manon's story's specifics were the haziest... except where Dorian is concerned I'm a mere mortal... and that has me suspicious regardless. Anywayyyy, as you can see above, it's Tristan. Tristan Crochan.
I cannot fully explain the cartwheel flip my brain did thumbing through the roladex of SJM's characters... because Tristan Flynn was not the energy my brain was ready for after reading this really sad passage about Manon's murdered family.
Tumblr media
On my first read of the SJMU I went ACOTAR (long break between the original and ACOSF) -> CC -> TOG. And on my first TOG read, this passage triggered no alarm bells. I probably just didn't remember Flynn all that much. But after my CC reread... oh. I remember him. Don't you worry.
Now I am fan of Flynn. He's got a rakishness I simp for, I root for him and the dragon, and clocked his lordship woes despite having what we've all decided is a "hot dad". He's a good time. And Flynn feels like someone to watch! He makes an appearance in not one, but two, CC bonus chapters... and he's got a crush on the aforementioned dragon, who either was introduced for no reason or is gonna be a key player going forward. Or SJM is fucking with us. I don't have the answers.
But what I'm struck by Tristan-wise is a) the similarity in the little physical descriptors we get - brown hair, brown eyes and b) not actually Flynn-related... but a deeply similar sounding story to none other than the Autumn King. Daughter you didn't know was born to a woman you claim was your real love... check. Searching far and wide with a singular focus on recovering your daughter... check. Having another kid out of obligation and duty to continue on important bloodlines... check!!!
It might not have anything to do with Flynn at this current moment... but it's not implausible. Lord Flynn is of course a beloved frat-pack member living in a dump with his fellow bros. He specifically pops up in these bonus chapters going through the motions necessitated by his aristocratic bloodline. His mom/family is eager to marry him and his sister off - of course he seems miserable about the whole idea. But also resigned to it? It seems complicated. TLDR there's a world where Flynn's like "woof, yeah I gotta get married off but the heart wants what it wants!" There is precedent!
Also, I've been 👀 Flynn since it was flagged that he has "super rare earth powers" not commonly seen in Valbaran Fae... first off, what does that mean? Second, hot?!
Well I've done it again, so many words and nothing really of note to take away haha. I'll be honest, my mind was not in a Tristan Flynn headspace!! I'm kind of bogged down in my own thoughts about the witchier women of this multiverse... but in my dragon theory speculation Flynn popped up again and I really can't explain why random dead ends are turning up Tristan!!! I'm not mad about it, but I wish I understood.

I am the ceo of unpopular opinions (but great fanfics im so fr) so here goes nothing… my “Bryce was acting OOC” opinions
[HOFAS SPOILERS BELOW!!!]
The one thing I feel like people CONSTANTLY remove from their reading of fantasy books is any sense of time/urgency. I totally get it! You aren’t reading the book on an exact timeline of when the characters are living! But Ruhn, Hunt, & Baxian were in the dungeons again for like,, *a week*. I agree that what they went through was fucking horrible and probably incredibly triggering for Hunt, but Bryce was not acting OOC when she asked “if he even wanted to be there?”. He chose to do it all again with her KNOWING this could be the outcome. I’m sorry but I’m just not understanding why this moment of her cannot be forgiven when she goes on to apologize and they talk it out in the most healthy way an SJM main couple has possibly ever???
I totally get that that wasn’t her best moment. But to say it was out of character and shows she “doesn’t love/respect Hunt” is just bs and I’m tired of seeing it

Maeve is Theia, the original Starborn Queen.
This theory contains spoilers for ACOTAR, Crescent City, and Throne of Glass!
As discovered in CC2, Ruhn and Rhys look identical. If they are not reincarnations of each other (still a plausible theory), then they must share a common ancestor. As most people have already deduced, logically, this must be Queen Theia; the first Starborn Queen, and ruler of the Dusk Court.
It then begs the question; "well, who actually was Queen Theia?"
I truly believe that there is only one candidate for this; Maeve, from the Throne of Glass (TOG) world. Here is a summation of the evidence for this:
Maeve, Ruhn and Rhys are the only 3 characters who have the "violet" or "violet blue" eyes. (Some argue that this is irrelevant as Maeve could change her form, but so could Erawan, and his gold eyes were passed onto Manon).
They all have the same "raven black hair."
Maeve, Ruhn and Rhys have the same darkness/shadow power.
They also all have the rare mind-speaking (or "daemati") power; an ability we first saw originate in Maeve and the other Valg Royalty.
Even Ruhn's name is (seemingly) derived from the Ruhnn mountains; the place in TOG where Maeve kept her handmaidens (and I suspect where Maeve walked between worlds).
Rhys is Lord of the Night Court; Ruhn is Agent Night; and Maeve is Queen of the Night.
With this many uncanny similarities between all three people, it makes the most sense that Ruhn and Rhys descended from Maeve, and that ultimately, Maeve is Queen Theia.

Queen of Glass.
I first suspected that Maeve may be Queen Theia when reading the Original Throne of Glass book, 'Queen of Glass,' that SJM published on a fan fiction website when she was younger.
This is how Maeve was originally described; does it not sound like a Starborn Queen (and also... exactly like Rhys)?

Even the iconic way that Rhys's eyes are described (as having stars inside of them), is akin to how Maeve's eyes were originally described:

Additionally, in this original version of TOG, Maeve was engaged to Athril (which is similar to the events of the published TOG). However, Athril was said to be the first Fae to ever exist, and the greatest warrior in history.
When the Valg broke into their world, Athril forged Goldryn (and 3 other weapons). It was a death sword that was capable of slaying the Valg, and emitted a bright "white light." Sound familiar?
Athril then fought on the the peak of a mountain "archway," in an attempt to stop the Valg from entering his world. Although he was successful in destroying the Valg, he was killed - right on the mountaintop. After that, the cities were formed and a period of peace ensued.
This sounds EXACTLY like the story of Fionn that Rhys detailed in ACOSF (the mighty "fae warrior" who used Gwydion to overthrow the Daglan), AS WELL as Enalius (the first Illyrian who fought an "unknown enemy" on the top of Ramiel, and died there).
What's more, is that after Athril died, Maeve closed the gates and all rips between all worlds.
This is EXACTLY what Queen Theia did.
Proof in the published version.
Although 'Queen of Glass' is not officially canon, it gives us important clues regarding SJM's line of thinking.
However, there is still evidence in the actual TOG that points to Maeve as being Queen Theia. Most prominently, Maeve states that in her "original world," she came from a "small territory" where she was made Queen.
This sounds just like Theia and the Dusk Court.
Tumblr media
It is also explicitly stated that this "small territory" that Maeve ruled was a place where powers were not given, but "simply born" (as if... starBORN?)
Further, Erawan also suggested that Yrene's power (which is almost 100% certainly the Starborn power) existed in his home world. Interestingly, he refers to wielders of this power as "death maidens," which sounds an awful lot like Nesta's power (and perhaps explains why she has the Starborn tattoo...)

Maeve in mythology.
In some strains of Celtic mythology (which appears to greatly influence the ACOTAR world), Queen Maeve was seen as the chief and deity of the Tuatha dé Danaan. Is it then any coincidence that Ruhn's (and possibly Rhys's) last name is Danaan?
In the same mythology, Maeve had 7 sons.
Just like the 7 High Lords.
Or the 7 Princes of Hel.
Or the 7 Asteri.
Tumblr media
Maeve's power.
A pitfall of this theory is that Maeve's power (as far as we saw in TOG) did not manifest as light. But, are we sure we know the whole story of the Starborn? It is mentioned multiple times in CC2 that Bryce has not fully understood what her power is capable of. Similarly, Rigelus seems to hint that Bryce can walk between worlds simply because she is Starborn, and Maeve was a world-walker.
And perhaps more curiously, most people in the Starborn lineage (ie. the Avallen people) actually have shadow/darkness powers - just like Maeve did.
Aidas.
For this theory to be correct, it also suggests that Maeve was involved with Aidas.
Yet, as per another theory I have posted, I have already theorised that the Princes of Hel are actually the Valg.
Aidas is also a play on the name "Hades," and Hades is another name for Orcus - Maeve's original husband. This checks out.
Prythian.
As Theia and the Starborn likely originated from Prythian, there must also be evidence of Maeve's existence there.
It is then not surprising that many have already theorised that Maeve (and subsequently Queen Theia) is "the Mother" in the ACOTAR world.
Maeve is the only character we have seen with the ability to manipulate fate (and assign 'mating bonds' to people); just as the Mother does. Even in Celtic mythology, Maeve is another name for Mother.
Then, by extension, the Valg (or Princes of Hel) must also have existed in Prythian for this theory to be true. Interestingly, in the Crescent City audiobooks, all of the Princes of Hel have distinct British accents.
Is it then a mere coincidence that Prythian is in the shape of Britain, and similarly, Prythian is an ancient name for Britain?

Further:
Thanatos (a Prince of Hel) is also seen in the Hewn City.
The 7 layers of the library are reminiscent of the 7 layers of Hel (with many musing as to whether the 'cat like' presence is Aidas).
And, when Bryce says she is going to Hel, she lands in Prythian.
Timeline.
Alternatively, for Maeve to have been Queen Theia, she must have also existed 15,000 years ago. This suggests that Throne of Glass is a story that takes place in the PAST.
Linking with this idea, I theorise that the ACOTAR and TOG characters actually shared the same world (with the TOG characters existing many thousands of years ago). In fact, the notion of ACOTAR and TOG characters sharing the same world is something that Rigelus straight up suggests is true:
Tumblr media
It also links in with Merrill's theory about the universe; that different worlds share the same space, but are separated by TIME.
Tumblr media
This would explain why Rhys suggested that the old fae, 15,000 years ago, were more "elemental," and would imbue their swords with their magic.
Just as Aelin and the TOG fae did.
Tumblr media
It would also explain why the Night Court and Terrasen (both in the North) are so similar.
Velaris is also exactly how Rowan described the future city that Aelin would rebuild.
What's more, is that Velaris smells like "lemon verbena," which is Aelin's scent.
This may all seem impossible if you believe the timelines to be concurrent - but, what if they're not?
What if, when Aelin fell through worlds, she fell forward in time? The Harp even mused that when it was last played, it transported the user through "TIME and space," and through the "eons."
ACOTAR last names.
If this is all true, perhaps it offers an explanation as to why the last names of most ACOTAR characters have been hidden. That the big reveal is that they all descend from TOG characters.
For example, the Winter Court would descend from the Whitethorns; with their wind/ice power, and signature white/silver hair.
Tumblr media
The Spring Court (and Tamlin's lineage) would descend from Lysandra (with her shapeshifting abilities), and Aedion.
I mean, the resemblance is rather uncanny.
Tumblr media
Even the Dawn Court, the place of healing, with their parallels to Yrene and Silba's descendants (even their book being called Tower of DAWN...).
Tumblr media
Ultimately, the connections and possibilities are endless.
Yet, no matter what, I theorise that the person at the centre of everything, across all worlds, is Maeve.
Or, otherwise known as Queen Theia.
