Rainbow Furby Deepdive

Now that I've decided my website is a sea slug fansite (long story) I don't have anywhere to put my rainbow furby research. I considered putting it in a youtube video, but decided to post it to tumblr instead.

Anyway, here it is! The forbidden furby lore.

On the 14th of June 2016 supersonicmario0770 made a post on the adoptafurby forums. The thread was titled "Rainbow Furby?" and included a link to an archived ebay listing.

"I have never seen one of these before or where it came from. I can't find it when I look it up, no sign of it anywhere online but this ebay listing. It's pink with rainbow ears, hair, and chest."

At first most forum members thought it was a customized furby with dyed fur, although some thought it could be an unknown prototype. While the ebay listing is unarchived, we know roughly what it said.

On the 15th aibo7m3 posted this:

"I would err on the side of caution and and say that it's probably a custom too, but the seller's story is that this furby was an employee gift given to some of the members at tiger electronics (including her husband)."

Two weeks later on July 6th furbyandchips made a forum post, providing pictures of their own rainbow furby.

"My friend bought me the other rainbow furby the seller on ebay was selling. Identical to this one. I do not believe it to be fake or custom made. I have inspected it closely and the bottom of the box was open, so the inside cardboard can be removed, but the furby is still attached to the cardboard and didn't look tampered with. All tags are present and in mint condition. Everything is as it should be and looks like it was made in a factory and not customized by someone. The seller told my friend the same story which I believe to be true going by the fact the other furby she bought with it was only furby number 4 of that release, which makes me think it could of been someone who worked for tiger to have such a early one. This furby is in a regular box but if you look at some of the other special editions they too were in regular boxes."

Three years later, on the 19th of January 2019 furbyandchips provided an update on their website heyfurby.com.

"Hello Furby Fans! To start off our new blog, I thought I would write about a very interesting Furby in our collection. I do not know her Furby name as I have never switched her on, she is still attached to the cardboard base from the factory. We decided to name her May May, which means Love ;-)

A good friend found May May on Ebay America and I have never seen another furby like her. A while ago I posted about May May on a furby forum to try and find out some information about her, but no one there had ever seen or heard of this furby. I'm not sure which generation she is, if she is a prototype, limited edition or something very special. She has all tags present and looks to be an Official Furby Release.

Looking at the photo you will see she has rainbow eyelashes and a purple face plate, unlike any other furby. She also has rainbow pattern ears, mane and belly.

Her colours are amazing and I wonder if there are any more around like her. We will always treasure May May and hope to eventually find out more information about her. Stay tuned!"

furbyandchips quickly provided an update on the 21st. In this post, furbyandchips described searching the wayback machine for furby.com articles, finding what they were looking for on a page titled 'news updates'.

From the 9th of November 1999 until the 1st of August 2000 a competition to design a furby took place on the back of Post brand cereals. Children 17 and under were asked to color in their own furby design, and send their entry in the mail by the 1st of August 2000. Twelve designs at random would then be selected and posted on furby.com where a winner could be voted by the public.

The winner was Brittany from Missouri, who won a trip to the furby design studio in Illinois, as well as recieving their own furby. However, furbyandchips was still left with some unanswered questions.

"So it turns out that this is in fact an official Furby-Tiger Release! (some doubted this on AdoptaFurby Forum). I wonder if 'Brittany from Missouri' still has her Rainbow Furby? Also were any of the other 12 entries created?

As far as I know, there are only two Rainbow Furby's in existence. The one that I own, and the other one the original seller (maybe) still has? After some more detective work, I found out the other rainbow Furby had a highest bid of $525.00 before the seller chose to end the auction early! I can only guess they had a change of heart and wanted to keep it."

Eight months later, on the 11th of august 2019 an update was posted on the private facebook group Furby Collectors.

"Hi guys! I'm brand new to this group, and while I'm not a “collector” per-se, i am very proud of this furry rainbow dude right here. He's one of three in existence, made in 2000 when i was just 10 years old. i just so happened to be the lucky winner of a coloring “design your own Furby” contest hosted by Post cereals back in the day. i was flown to Rhode Island with my family and allowed to tour the Hasbro factory, meeting the artists, getting sneak peaks into prototype toys to come, and got to meet the CEO himself! He presented to me, in a formal greeting ceremony, with three of the Furbies I'd designed as a little girl. One to play with (kept outside of the box), one to keep sealed, and one they put into their archives. i felt ike a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Truly a dream come true for a kid. Sadly, when i was 16 years old, 13 years ago now, my boxed Furby was stolen from me and sold by my late older brother who had been battling an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking addiction. I've come to terms with it over the years, but have always wondered what happened to the rainbow siblings of this furry cutie. I'd seen images posted online of an Ebay listing with one of the sibling Furbies before but have not discovered much more about their fates. thought I'd reach out here and give a bit of backdrop to this weird story in hopes i may learn something! Here I've included a goofy photo of my multicolored friend from recently and a clipping of the arcticle written from when i was an excited 10 year old girl!"

This still leaves some questions. If the other furby furbyandchips's friend bought was number four, then why would the facebook poster believe there to be only three in existance, why would furbyandchip's believe only two to exist, and why would the original ebay seller say their husband recieved two as an employee gift?

We can most likely rule out the brother making both ebay listings, since he only had access to one furby. Could there be more rainbow furbies that we don't know of?

If you have any more information on this furby, please get in touch! I tracked down the news article the original creator was mentioned in, but I needed a newspaper.com subscription to view it so I wasn't able to get further information from that. I also wasn't able to check the facebook group for further updates as I don't use facebook. If anyone has pictures of the back of the rainbow furby and can share them, that would be appreciated!

another hazbin hotel rewrite/redesign?

yup! and i'm so serious about it that i made a whole blog for it. i'm a white queer ex-cath tran doing this as an art and writing exercise, so feedback from other creatives + jewish and/or racialized folks is especially welcome.

i'm putting this post and only this post in the main tags for visibility. also, not gonna link my main, but i do make my own original stuff, and i encourage fans and haters alike to do the same.

anyway, here's a mostly good-faith 1.7k-word essay on the original. i think it's pretty funny and brings up some less talked-about points. correct me on the facts, disagree with my opinions, and ask clarifying questions, but don't come at me with any piss-poor reading comprehension.

the hellaverse is garbage, and here's why

1. vivienne medrano, the person

medrano was born as a well-off white-passing latina (salvadoran-american) in bougieass frederick, maryland. while attending new york's top art school, she got popular on deviantart-tumblr-twitter by being a prolific multifandom fujoshi furry who's more into ornamental character design than storytelling. upon graduation, she leveraged her fanbase and industry connections to make the hazbin and helluva boss pilots, get helluva made for youtube, and get hazbin made for amazon prime.

like every woman online, she gets harassed for no good reason, and as a certified autist, i will defend her right to be dumb, weird, annoying, and bad with words. however, there are legit reasons to criticize her:

racism, misogyny, homophobia, fatphobia, some antisemitism, past transphobia, past ableism

shitty boss, bad friend

cowardly, vindictive, manipulative, thoughtless behavior

skeevy friends

sucks at taking criticism

in short, i think she desperately needs a PR person and someone to clean up her digital footprint.

2. medrano's art

incurious

inauthentic

noncommittal

creatively stagnant

overindulgent, and the indulgence isn't even fun

shallow and childish framed as complex and mature

bland and boring framed as shocking and subversive

to be clear, i'm at peace with the existence of suckass art like this; i just think the money, attention, and praise it gets are unearned and should go to more interesting works, of which there are infinite.

medrano's had the time, money, and social cache to grow as an artist, learn from the best, and take creative risks, but she hasn't. if she truly has nothing more to offer, she should let her collaborators take the wheel, but she doesn't do that either. instead, she keeps getting more and more resources to make the same baby bullshit, and that pisses me off. she could be the nicest person ever, and this fundamental arrogance would still make her art blow.

stop with the pointless guilt: liking medrano's work does not make you stupid or evil. however, if you stay in the kiddie pool of culture, if you refuse to engage with a diversity of art, if the hellaverse is your point of reference for anything media-related, you can't expect to have your opinions on art, media, or culture taken seriously. you have not earned a seat at the table. you gotta hit the books first.

i cannot emphasize enough how much incredible stuff is out there if you're willing to look further than what social media and streaming services put right in front of you. if you come away from this blog having learned about just one new artist or piece of art, i'll be a happy camper.

3. the hellaverse

a. empty and confused

hazbin and helluva's content and marketing has no clear target audience. the subjects are inappropiate for teens, but the execution is too childish for adults, and lemme tell you what i don't mean by that, first.

not inherently inappropriate for teens:

sex and sexuality

violence, including when it intersects with the above

politics and religion

not inherently childish:

animation (any style)

comedy

episodic writing and/or loose continuity

young characters

fun, happiness, optimism, the power of friendship, cuteness, tenderness, sincerity, etc.

what i mean is that these shows are literally about adult characters who fuck, smoke, drink, do drugs, go clubbing, work full-time, manage their own finances, and deal with stuff like bureaucracy, sexual violence, domestic abuse, marriage, divorce, late adoption, and family estrangement.

however, none of these "adult" things are given enough specificity to create drama or comedy. it's all too stock, vague, flat, weirdly sanitized, and thus utterly banal—pure aesthetics on top of bad saturday morning cartoons. it's exactly what i'd expect from a sheltered disney kid who needs to log off and get into their local gay scene ASAP so their only contact with things like poverty, policing, addiction, and sex work stops being facile movies and TV.

if the shows were aware of this and played with it, that could be amazing, but they're not. they give you the mickey mouse version of the world with a straight face and then play looney tunes sound effects to try to make you laugh and sad_violin.mp3 to try to make you cry. now that's funny.

b. old and tired

let's make like americans and pretend that the rest of the world doesn't exist. even within the confines of the USA, home of the hays code, the red scare, and reaganite propaganda, this neopuritan fascist state ruled by 1000 megachurches in a trenchcoat, the indie/underground animation scene has been doing crazier shit for decades. anti-war films in the 60's, bakshi movies in the 70's, the simpsons shorts and r-rated movies in the 80's, adult swim and MTV in the 90's, flash/newgrounds/youtube in the 00's, streaming in the 2010's—so what are we doing in the 2020's with this wet white rice drowned in expired ketchup? i feel crazy making this point because it's obvious if you've watched these things, but if you haven't, you're gonna be like "well, there's gotta be something new here". no! there isn't! in the words of jimmy "the scot" jordan, nothing, nothing, NOTHING!

c. ideological purgatory

actually, there is one thing in these shows i've never seen before: the presbysterianism. shout out some interesting or at least intentional presbysterian art in the comments, because the way these ideas are presented here is not compelling. it just makes the rainbow neoliberalism even more confusing and contradictory.

i guess the big presbysterian things are protestanism, calvinism, and, uh, big church government? presbysterians, get your shit together. get your brand down. catholics have BDSM and vampires, evangelicals have TV and corporatism; what do you have? celtic crosses? no wonder medrano has such uninspired ideas on divinity.

d. queer deficiency

when i look at a piece of art, i ask myself: "what does this give me that i can't get from the hunchback of notre dame (1996)?" if the answer is as limp as "uhh, gay people, i guess", i can probably look for my gay shit elsewhere and rewatch the hunchback of notre dame (1996) in the meantime.

but let's say that you have no standards. you've been waiting for ages for a show about gays by the gays for the gays, and by god you're gonna get it. this is it! here we go! time for some

generic twink obliteration

male sexuality as aggression and dominance displays

WLW (sex and chemistry not included)

a couple straight femdoms

and the stalest sex jokes known to man

...yeah, it's not very queer. and by "queer", i mean "questioning or subverting gender norms (including sexual roles) within a given cultural context regardless of creator identity and intent". i'm not a queer studies scholar so LMK if there's a more specific term for this, but whatever you call it, it's not in the hellaverse much.

there's not even any transness, literal or metaphorical, just ancient drag jokes. i guess the writers thought we would've been too controversial. so much for an indie animation studio that prides itself in the diversity of its staff both above and below the line, bakshi-style. i wonder how medrano, a bisexual woman, would've felt if told that a lesbian main couple in hazbin would be "too controversial".

4. spindlehorse and the vivziepop brand

spindlehorse toons underpays its overworked staff and keeps outsourcing more and more labor to even more overworked freelancers overseas to cut costs. a rainbow sweatshop is still a sweatshop, and just because these practices may be "industry standard" doesn't make them any more ethical.

the studio has also been repeatedly accused by current and former employees and contractors of creating a hostile and abusive workplace. AFAIK, it still has no dedicated HR person, and victims are too afraid of retaliation like blacklisting and online harassment to speak out.

this is exactly the stuff that unions exist to prevent. as i'm writing this, the IATSE (the parent union of TAG, which is the parent union of all US animation unions) is negotiating with entertainment industry executives for better working conditions, and if the execs fuck around like last year, it's strike time again. so watch this space, voice your support, and don't cross any picket lines.

i hope spindlehorse unionizes, but until then and for these reasons, i don't think you should give money to the company.

first of all, all content on amazon-owned platforms is ok to pirate, and all youtube ads are ok to block. everyone involved in making the episodes has (or should have) been paid upfront, so you're not taking the bread out of anyone's mouth.

next, let's look at the succulent offerings of the official vivziepop merch shop:

$10 pins and keychains

$15 sticker packs

$20 mugs and acrylic cutouts

$25 shirts

$30 metal cards (not even tarot)

$40 lounge pants

$50 mini backpacks

random $80 skateboard deck

forgive my latin americanness, but this is all stuff you can get made by a local metalsmith, print/sublimation shop, or just crafty people in your life. it's cheaper, customizable, and better for the environment to skip all the shipping and packaging. also, not painting your own skateboard is poser shit.

the hazbin website also has $15 pins, one $20 keychain, and $6 trading card packs. people are weird about trading cards, so if for some reason you wanna gamble for a mass-produced bit of cardboard, plastic, and tinfoil, at least bulk-order for all the vivziepoppers in your area so it's less of a huge waste. better yet, trace the designs and make infinite bootlegs.

at the end of the day, buying merch is not activism. your bulk order of trading cards will not save any wage slaves from getting evicted from their overpriced studio apartments. however, the shop links you to all the credited artists/designers, and more of your bucks will actually reach them if you buy their designs directly, then turn them into body pillows or life-sized bronze statues or whatever the fuck.

go through the credits of any episode of helluva or hazbin, and you'll find even more creatives you might wanna support. get jinkx monsoon's albums on CD. subscribe to actually good artist, animator, and composer gooseworx. lots of voice actors now have patreon, cameo, or self-hosted pages where you can write better lines for their characters and have them read it. these things may not look as shiny as Official Merch™, but we all need less plastic shit and more culture anyway.

The day we get some youtuber making a video on Vivzie's controversies, and instead of "getting information" from twitter, youtube and every place where the bootlickers lies about how "every acusation was debunked", they take it from the critical tags here on Tumblr and expose to the world the type of person she is, things will be OVER for her, or at least her internet fame.

Its frustrating how every video i have ever seen about Vivziepop and her controversies are lazily made, just like 10 minutes of them going "so i saw people saying that Viv did x and y thing, but when i asked her fans on twitter they said it was debunked and that there is no proof of that happening, so i guess they say the truth". Like dude, yes there IS proof of her doing horrible things, you just need to search in some place that isnt fucking "Vivziepop fan account! Viv antis DNI!❤️" on twitter, use your brain.

And i hate those videos that gets really famous and create this popular narrative where she is some poor internet artist that gets false acussations because people are jealous of her, making it harder for her victims to come out about her abuse because they know it will get them harrassed. All because some lazy scum couldnt be bother to actually investigate to make a video to "inform people".

I swear, a well done 30 minutes Turkey Tom type of video will save us.

Also, is there any tag thats used exclusively for exposing Vivziepop for being a bad person? Because "Vivziepop critical" is fine, but its mostly people making fun of her writting and its kinda of hard to search for the proof.

I think we should have one called "Vivziepop archive" or something so every time someone ask for proof of her bad things we tell them to search that on Tumblr, just a sugestion.

There's one in the works, and when it's finished I'll link to it at every opportunity.

But for now, yes, that's an extremely good idea. From now on, when it's actual evidence that's worth showing antis, I'll tag it with "Vivziepop archive."

Seven Stages of... Becoming an RA Pt 1

I was so excited I got an email saying "RA Offer." I ran from my bedroom and told my Mother. I was so excited because I tried the year prior and did not get in. I told one of my friends from the Lazer Tag Boys, I wanted to share the news. My friend's first response was...

"What dorm?"

"Skywalk." I said.

"Boo you whore." They groaned

After the news spread of me becoming an RA, my new nickname became The Opp. I was isolated from my friends because we all lived in the same dorm, and I moved to the new dorm building. My side of the hall that I was in charge of was quiet, no one interacted with each-other. It was post lockdowns, and our college had a silly rule that didn't make sense when you really think about it. We couldn't have outside visitors from other dorm buildings but you could interact with each other in your own dorm building, academic buildings, and student center.

So what did we do?

The Lazer Tag Boys were schemers, who schemed a scam of scanning IDs. They would drop an ID from an open window; then the person who wanted to get in would wear a hoodie and a mask concealing their face. The door people would let them in. The Lazer Tag Boys would let in multiple people in using two to three cards for like eight people who wanted to get in.

What I did was go in the 24 hour Science building and my friend Richie and I would look at weird Youtube videos. While I was sleep deprived, and Richie was high as a kite at 1 a.m.

** I remember when me and Richie watched this and it took him 20 minutes to figure out that it was looped and over four hours long he still never forgives me for letting him watch the ending to this lol. **

Still I was isolated, I barely knew anyone on my floor except for my old suite mates from my first semester of Freshman year. These two suite mates who fought with each other, because one person couldn't keep the bathroom clean. The bathroom was utterly filthy and an extreme biohazard, if I really described what I saw I would get reported for cyberbullying on Tumblr. And then there was Matt who lived across from me...

He was my stalker, he invited me into his dorm saying he had a whole bottle of some cheapo vodka to himself and that he wanted to share with me. Bloody Ruby Woo Dorothy's Slippers Scarlet Letter Red Flag, I declined his seedy offer. He would not stop bothering me after he invited me, I ignored him after that.

Matt would constantly get locked out! I was so scared one time he got locked out of his room, that he might push me in his room and do who knows what. Our dorm rooms had a tiny 4x4 hallway that had three doors, two leading to the actual room and one to the bathroom. He got locked out of his bedroom and I was so scared because there are no cameras in the room. They call it paranoid, I call it prepared.

He kept begging me to go out with him and I declined. I told one of my RA co-workers at the time about this. She was an art major, and lived on the lower levels of the building. She was a sister figure I was always trying to search for, a friend I was hoping to have. Her catchphrases was "You should pull your cards.! Bring your cards.!" She would always ask my tarot cards about her romantic woes. She slept with her resident(s). One of her resident's had a girlfriend who went to our rival school, the less diverse version of our school people swore was "better".

The same resident who had a girlfriend turned to me and asked me for my number... I declined. I told "Big Sis" that I was on Girl Code and I didn't want to talk to someone that my friend (Her) was messing around with. She laughed in my face and waved her hand dismissively.

She said that "There's no girl code."

I would always read her cards even though my ancestors did not like her and I ignored my intuition. I wanted a friend, I wanted to be liked.

Consider this: the fact RWBY has this subsection of a fandom dedicated to harsh criticism will fascinate people. I mean, so many YouTube video grilling the series, Reddit posts, whole Tumblr tags, etc.

Wouldn't that make you curious as to what sort of show would inspired such rage? At worst, you get total trash that's not even the entertaining kind. At best, you find that it's... good actually and that you cannot get the critics.

13 Reasons Why was a controversial book but it exploded in discourse come Netflix's adaptation. A lot of the criticism seemed "valid" yet I wanted to see the show for myself based on the show and the fact that it was big enough to get a second, third and fourth season.

It is now one of my favorite TV shows in the past decade. Would've flown past my radar if it hadn't inspired such passions from video essays, therapist videos and so on.

The same even happened with the RWDE. I won't name names but a certain critic of FRWBY has spoken how the intense hate towards the series led her to get into and geniunely enjoy it. So... yeah. Nice job fixing it, chief.

BTW, if RWBY or RT should hypothetically just stop... what would you do?

This mindset entirely ignores that people are often criticizing the show because not a single member of the “FNDM” holds Rooster Teeth responsible. As soon as Bumblebee happened the whole fandom stopped talking about the abuse the workers experienced because RT held a shiny keychain in front of them and suddenly human lives meant less than pixels on a screen.

Trying to spin the continued existence of a show that only exists through the abuse of workers onto people criticizing the show is also a really interesting way to shift the blame off the people who ACTUALLY contribute to keeping the show running despite the abuse in the people who buy their merch and who watch the show through means that drives up their engagement. You can say “well people criticizing the show gets more eyes on it”, but that’s not enough to sustain a show for 9 years, and it’s more likely the people who whaled for Amity Arena, or bought Arrowfall, or buys their shoddily made figures are the ones who actually show enough interest in the show continuing to justify them continuing to abuse their workers to keep it happening. Foisting the blame onto critics when the fanbase slobbered over RT for having two women kissed and ignored that they hurt real people in real ways constantly for years is ridiculous.

Lilith is an example of exactly that, someone who doesn’t care about the people who get hurt by their actions as long as they are right, and their needs are satiated. For all her bluster about how much RWDE hates women and only likes white men, she sure is defending a show built on the abuse of minorities by straight, white men and women.

What would I do if RT and RWBY stopped? I’d continue living my life, I don’t post about RWBY that often and what I do post often takes about 5 minutes to put into words. The idea that to be “RWDE” you have to be obsessed with RWBY is laughable.

For those of you who follow ColeyDoes Things on youtube may have seen her latest update "The BIGGEST fandoms on AO3". Getting the pleasant surprise of seeing Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the tumbnail got me so excited.

I always pictured the fandom of Hockey RPF as a niche on AO3. This fandom got me into tumblr, AO3 along with reading fan fiction all together. I've been part of this fandom for the last 8 years. Hockey in general is a big part of my life. I had so many thoughts, so much knowledge and for years it was the only fandom I read fanfiction for.

I am so excited to see it part of the 20 top fandom on a site like AO3. I didn't expect seeing this fandom so high up, and I'm honestly so excited seeing the video beacuse right now I'm 28 minutes in the video and she's going through place #15 and she still didn't get to HOCKEY RPF and I'm astounded and so excited. I can't wait to find out their placement on the top 20 fandoms. And all through the video I can't wait to see her reaction to the top ships and tags.

Seein in #12 SPORTS RPF and knowing that technically HOCKEY RPF should be under this umbrealla but in actuality HOCKEY RPF usually tagged only under HOCKEY RPF I'm shocked. I know how technically in the last year or so there was a booming in the romance genre of Hockey Romance Books, but I'm not quite sure what it did to the popularity of Hockey on AO3. Plus, hockey is well known as the least popular sport out of the major legues of North America so I am so surprised to see how popular it actually is.

Now after RAVING about the superiority of HOCKEY RPF VS. SPORTS RPF, apparently I was fundementally wrong and got dissapointed.

I was sure that AO3 seperated each and every "sport's field" RPF as a seperated entoty and not logged them together. Through the whole video I was waiting for the moment of the fandom I was so excited about being talked about. With each fandom she would look at the top ships and characters. Through watching the video I was debating with myself about the top 10 pairings. It's been a while since I looked up the exact list. So I was under no impression that Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin would be the number one pair. But as for the others I debated with myself. Just for the fun of it the list I had in my mind who is based on my personal experience and on various post about the top main paieings of Hockey are:

Jamie Benn/Tyler Seguin (I know fhat it used to be their place, and I am well aware how they are barely any new fics about them, but I still want to believe they are on the top 10 pairs).

After getting it out of the way. What happened in the video was- she read a bunch of pairing from different sports. Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin was in fact the number on pairings. Which was extra impressive when you take into account the different feilds of sports. But in fairness it seemed like Hockey RPF was one of the OG Sports RPF with continued audience. And as for those two they had the benefit of playing with each other close to 20 years.

Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews also made the list, at around number 5. It made me so happy. As someone who was a big reader for 1988 it made me so happy. Also Coley didn't know how to read Toews so she read it as TOE-EZ, and through my mind I thought "Patrick Sharp would be so proud". Also it rather fitting to accidently hit a major theme in many of the 1988 fics, especially the older ones.

She also had a big surprise to see Omegaverse as one of the main tags. As someone who adores omegaverse and specifically reading it with the context of sports RPF it didn't surprise me in the slightest.

It also made me really happy to see the second most kudoed fic being a Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin wedding day fic. Especially because I know I put it in my marked for later list and there is a podfic version of it with 5 hours lengh.

Even though it wasn't to the extent that I wanted to, I still enjoyed the video and seeing even the mention of some major pairings who I read many fics about, gave me joy.

When I first discovered the tumblr bts tarot tag, it caught my attention. I think I would enjoy reading it because the readings were in a sort of romantic story style. But then I realized that the people asking questions here are asking the same questions to many readers, not just out of curiosity, but to confirm whether the men they like can be their wives. I don't know the BTS members personally, and it's impossible to know what their real personalities are like. It was like I was just reading beautiful romance novels starring them here. But now, nobody is happy because of crazy people. Everyone is running around blaming each other and dragging all the blogs into this chaos. At first, I thought the people here were little children, but as I learned, even adults and even married people with children show dreamer tendencies. The BTS tarot tag has officially moved from romantic comedy to psychological thriller. The crazy people will continue to be crazy, every new blog that opens is a new door to delusion for them. . Let us invite them to touch the grass as much as we want. As long as their minds are in the sky, having their feet on the grass will not bring them anything. I wish happy times to those who are sane, and I wish some logic to those who are crazy with bts and fs. goodbye💕

Well I just saw that that tarot tag was cursed because of how crazy people are over a certain spouse and a certain member. I mean… some blog were just made for him and even those who answer for all the members they mostly have to answer about him and his spouse! Including me!

I don’t understand why people specifically ask about how his 97 friends will see his spouse, then « colleagues » (?) like… why do you want to know about them? What’s the point for you or even for us who read it. His colleagues so by extension — manager, makeup artists, stylists etc. Do you really need to know how she will be seen by all his peers? It just misses Bam and then it’s all done lol.

People think BTS will have a crush on her but how wicked is their mind when it is also said that she may be younger than the youngest of all?! Who do they expect, besides Taehyung, to also have a crush on her?! Is not that a bit… illegal? Just saying. But maybe that’s their kink idk… but meh…

They ask how « bouncy » the boobs are? She is not completly real and they are already sexualizing her so when she will be revealed… will they zoom in and go to tarot readers to say « it’s not that big/it’s huge »? Is not is bodyshaming? Or malegazing? She is supposed to not be on the limelight yet but still, they want to know if she is the next Maryline Monroe. Okay girls.

They don’t even care about the others fs because they don’t care about the other members. Also I received an ask from an anon telling me « don’t read on other idols because they mostly marry korean » because I do not want to say more on the BTS’s fs. Yes… they are korean… indeed… you are a foreigner but it does not mean that you have a chance to be with him even though they may marry one. You are not the only foreigner.

You can daydream about a relationship with them, it’s fine, it’s normal. But wanting it to be true at all cost to the point of begging readers to feed your delusions? To look around everywhere to find someone nourishing your insecurities by complimenting your desires? To harass people if they say things you don’t like? They should use tarot as a guidance tool not as a destined related thing.

I even saw on YouTube a woman named « Maria Gelu » (I guess?) who said « if he marries someone else, she is not the real mrs. jeon. I am » I hope that was a joke. I hope. The thing is, if people where mostly encouraging her about her daylie life (she is a teacher as I saw some of her videos) she might concentrate more on her life than her wishes. I don’t know if she loves what she is doing but at least complimenting her for who she is under those videos instead of mocking her under the « mrs Jeon » ones could make her open her eyes and see that she has more values when she is her than when she is « Mrs Jeon ».

Readers are not entirely at fault but that’s on them to answer or not and to share what they should share or not.

This is gonna be a long and weird post from me, and I don't know if it'll even be comprehensible in the end, but I just wanna put my thoughts out there about my feelings for Jhinhwei and why even as everyone else has fallen in love with this ship, I'm struggling to get into the idea of it.

(And to get this out of the way, this is all just my personal interpretation of these characters, I'm not gonna shame anyone for shipping something I don't or reading a character differently than I do. I'm doing this mostly cuz I just wanna voice my thoughts on this pair and maybe hear from people who think differently than I do. Also the other ships I tagged will make sense in a moment I PROMISE!)

It's not that I don't understand the appeal, oh no, this ship feels like it was handmade to appeal to Tumblr's love of darker, tension-filled, inherently toxic, homoerotic romance. It's LoL Hannigram, it's someone who's at least somewhat moral falling obsessively in love with a psychopath, and now they're at a cross roads of if they want to try to remain a decent person but abandon their love, or embrace the darkness within them and allow themselves to be in love with this horrible person. There's so much potential for drama and complex explorations of love and obsession that this ship should absolutely grip me.

But it doesn't, even as it's gripped others who like the same other pairings that I do.

My two other favorite ships (bear with me, I think understanding why I love these two helps rationalize why I don't ship Jhinhwei), the ones that have actually worked their way into every crevasse of my brain and I think about scenarios of them while trying to fall asleep is Kayn/Rhaast (big shock I know /s) and Simon/Betty from Adventure Time. They are also two pairings that delve into obsession and where neither partner is fully good (or in Petrigrof's case, more like good people with unintentionally toxic behavior).

Let's start with Rhaayn cuz I've rambled enough about that ship on here to fill a library (hehe voicelines references). Rhaayn is more of a classic enemies to friends to lovers with the Symbrock dynamic of Rhaast being a parasite that is fighting for control over Kayn's body being thrown in there for spice. The fun with this ship is seeing how their fight forces them to have to share moments of closeness and eventually bond with the other, and how through those moments, Kayn and Rhaast both find a perfect mirror for themselves. They find someone with the same level of bloodthirst and similar war-related trauma, but also someone who balances them as they are opposites and the same in so many ways.

Petrigrof (spoilers for both Adventure Time and Fiona And Cake) is sorta the opposite of Rhaayn in that a lot of Rhaayn focuses on how they fall in love, while Petrigrof's main story starts after already being together. The other way they're different is that while I very much SHIP Rhaayn, I'm kinda lying when I say I SHIP Simon and Betty as my favorite part is that they don't stay together in the end. The Youtuber Sarcastic Chorus has already done an amazing analysis of this ship that matches a lot of my feelings on them, but to sum up, how Petrigrof ended is all due to Betty and Simon's mistakes. They loved each other so much that Betty was willing to throw so much of herself away for Simon, while he was blinded to how much she was doing for him, and even in the moments where he did recognize Betty was doing too much, he let her keep trying as he thought it would undermine their relationship if he didn't. And I love that their story is a lesson in how even well-meaning obsession can be toxic and that you need to know when to walk away and move on, even when it hurts you and the person you love.

Simon is just as madly in love as Betty is and vice versa, and they're both equally responsible for the way they ended up. While with Rhaayn, both crave each other's company because they've found someone who is just as violent and fucked up in all the same ways as they are.

But compared to those two pairs, Jhinhwei feels too unbalanced, and not just due to the power imbalance. To summarize it, my other ships feel like two people who ruin each other (or heal each other, or both!), while Jhinhwei mostly feels like Jhin trying to ruin Hwei and the main draw is Hwei choosing to accept the ruin and his internal struggle about it. The story of them, as I read it, focuses almost solely on Hwei's arc and you could theoretically have him effect Jhin just as much, but first, any attempts for Hwei to "fix" Jhin would just recreate the issue for me in the other direction, where it's now about Jhin's internal struggle with Hwei trying to heal him. Second, I have a hard time reading that as anything other than drastically changing Jhin's character to the point where you might as well make an OC.

That last point is definitely more of a personal problem as I have way more trouble getting into Jhin's headspace than I do with Hwei or Kayn or even Rhaast. But to me, Jhin is almost more of a force of madness than a character I can dive into the complex mind of, and I'm kinda ok with that. A lot of people love trying to figure out how these characters' brains work and why they are who they are, but just like how Riot never wanted to unmask Jhin (until that goddamn concept art came out!), I'm ok with leaving the mask on and letting some things about Jhin remain mysterious, even at the cost of Jhinhwei not meeting a lot of the criteria to be a ship that I really fall in love with.

In regards to the whole chicken parm thing, larries are (again) really showing which one of them they actually like. I don't even understand how you can devote your life to being delusional about a ship when you hate one of them so much. My favourite was someone saying louis 'exposed himself as a liar' because he said he cooked that damn chicken for eleanor, so his tweet now proves he lied and didn't cook it for her because... well. Um. Bluegreen, I guess. As if that man hasn't been hounded by these rumours for over a decade and as if there's no chance he knows one of the most popular 'proofs' about it.

During the tweet spree, Louis didn’t mention anyone in his life except Freddie, and even if he did, what good would it do?

Larries even recently fantasized that Two Of Us was a song about Harry. How can we take people who seriously turn every molecule of Louis’ existence into a shadow for Harry Styles? A literal shadow, hiding in balconies and backstage watching Harry’s performances during Louis’ own solo tour.

Because they’ve spent money on him, Louis should act friendly toward those who demean him, who treat him like a rude but masochistic, self-sacrificial porn star in their fantasies.

He should just go along with people thinking every word he writes is about Harry Styles and every thought he has is for Harry Styles. Now only that, but Louis should know his career exists just because of Harry Styles and their shared fans, and never, ever hope for anything better.

I remember the tumblr post last year from the big Larrie who used to run the business-direction blog, who said Louis’ goal was to subsume his career to Harry’s so Harry could be a big MCU star. Unfortunately for these fantasies, no matter how much Louis throws himself under the bus, he can’t improve Harry’s acting skills.

Larries also make sure that any new fan of Louis’, be they a reactor on YouTube, or an opening act, or an indie musician, or a casual listener, knows that Louis’ fandom is filled with weird cultists.

When Louis behaves like a real person with feelings, an actual human being, somehow these fans (many of them very grown adults) feel insulted and say the vilest things about a person they “love.” They even come back to a fandom they’ve left just to gaslight followers some more.

Get to Know Me - Sims Edition

I was tagged by @papermint-airplane, who you should follow if you're not already.

What’s your favorite Sims death?

I didn't think I had an answer for this because I don't usually kill my sims...and then I remember that the first story I posted on tumblr was a Black Widow Challenge. I think my perennial favorite is the old pool with no ladders trick, which got harder in Sims 3. But if you put cones and caution tape around the pool while someone is swimming... I mean, how did they miss those warning signs when they went swimming? *walks away whistling*

Alpha CC or MaxisMatch?

For Sims 3 I like Alpha hair, skin, makeup, skin details, etc, but I don't mind a lot of the EA clothes. With the right texture or pattern, some of those things can be really cute. And really...I guess it's the same for Sims 4.

Do you cheat your sims weight?

In Sims 3, no. In Sims 4, it's situational. I don't have an issue with overweight sims. I'm overweight myself. But it drove me bananas when Noa, an active sim who swims every single day for her job didn't lose the baby weight. So...sometimes?

Do you move objects?

Absolutely. It's the bane of my existence that you can't pick up and move sims in Sims 4.

Favorite Mod?

My favorites are all the toddler mods by @thesweetsimmer111.

First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack?

Livin' Large for Sims 1. I bought the first game for my kids and we just kept going from there. Now, I'm the only one who still plays. My first experience with the franchise goes back to playing Sim City on a Macintosh computer in college, so now you know I'm super old.

I don't think? If I did, it would have been in my Sims 2 era, but I don't remember doing so.

My favorite is almost always pale blonde, either Sims 3 or Sims 4. I rarely use it because I'm super aware that I could easily overuse it.

None of them in Sims 3. In Sims 4, I like the casual side braid.

Favorite life stage?

In Sims 3, it's toddler. All day, every day. Gimme those adorable toddlers! In Sims 4, the baaaaaaabies. OMG. The babies. I can't get enough.

I haven't gotten the hang of building in Sims 4 yet. Everyone says it's easier but I find it kind of daunting. I enjoy building in Sims 3, but I wouldn't consider myself a builder. Which is a long way to say... gameplay.

I'm not. I wish I had that skill.

I do have Simblr friends! At least I think we're friends? And I became friends with @papermint-airplane through the Sims 3 sub on Reddit.

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

Not a lot, really. I'm still a storyteller (I used to write Sims 2 stories on the TSR community forum) but I'm trying to get better at screenshots.

There are so many that I could make a list, but I tend to return to B5 Studio stuff time and time again. I have the entire Grant Park collection and if I make a house that doesn't have one of their doors, please make sure I haven't been kidnapped.

I think about a year and a half? I really only started it so I'd have a place to post screenshots that wouldn't get downvoted to hell, and I found a really fun community. Y'all are the best.

How do you edit your pictures?

I have zero photoshop skills so I just try to go for composition, angles, and lighting and hope for the best. Doesn't always work, but sometimes I get some bangers.

Sims 3: University, because it has my beloved Jeffery Dean.

Summary: After a successful heist, Paris’s most infamous cat burglar, Ladybug, goes home to her roommate, Azula, who has big news for her.

After scouring the internet for a long while, I have come to the conclusion that I am the only person who ships these two. I checked basically everywhere for a fanfiction, fanart, AMV, or even just an edit of Azula and Marinette, I checked tumblr, reddit, instagram, AO3, fanfiction.net, livejournal, wattpad, quotev, tiktok, youtube, and even the third page of google so welcome to what I will confidently say is the first ever Azula x Marinette (a ship I’m calling Azulanette) fanfiction.

I'm so glad you're here to watch my brainrot of this crack ship I've slowly come to love. Once again, since I can confidently say that this is the first ever Azulanette fanfiction in the world, I'm going to ease myself into writing about Azulanette as I'm planning to write a longer/multi-chapter fic in the future, I want practice writing these two before I take on something like that. The only "plan" I have is to just experiment, see what works and what doesn't work before that fic is published. I also need to rewatch ATLA again as the last time I saw this show was back in 2020.

For nearly five years, Paris had been intimidated by a cat burglar that goes by the name of Ladybug. Ladybug was a criminal mastermind. The only known information the police had on her was that she always wore a ladybug-printed outfit and would always rob places in the morning or dusk, never at night. Wearing a bright red outfit in the middle of the day should make her out to be a very easy target but somehow she would escape before the authorities would even realize that they were robbed.

That begs the question: where does she go after a heist?

Ladybug ran on the rooftops of Paris at dusk. She knew it would only be a matter of time before the bank realized that they'd been robbed but she didn't worry about that because she was almost home. She took a giant leap, jumping over the street below her, to a new rooftop and saw her apartment just a few meters away. A few seconds later, she made it to her bedroom window, opened it, then jumped through. Just as her feet touched the floor, she heard police sirens start to blare outside.

Another successful heist.

She popped her head out of her room to greet her roommate, Azula. They've been roommates since the beginning of Ladybug's crime spree. It was their secret and the reason and they were only people who knew. It was nice to have someone like her.

"Hi, Marinette, how was your heist today?" Azula greeted.

Marinette, the name of the person behind the mask, smiled then pulled out her magic yo-yo and pulled out some of the cash she stole. She was currently holding 6 thousand euro but left the other 2 hundred thousand inside her yo-yo. "Successful, as always." Marinette said proudly.

Marinette moved back into her room and changed out of her Ladybug outfit and into a comfortable red sweatshirt and gray pants. Once she was changed, she talked to the kitchen to start making croissants. Making pastries after a heist was a habit she started a while ago. It helped to calm down and remind her of home. Azula also loved this habit so Marinette always made sure to make enough for both of them.

Marinette walked around the kitchen, grabbing the ingredients she needed. But before she started, she noticed Azula standing at the threshold. "Marinette, can I tell you something before you start?"

"Yeah go ahead." Marinette then put down the flour she was holding and walked towards Azula.

When she walked over, Azula took Marinette's hands and looked at her. "Marinette these past five years have been some of the most amazing years of my life. You're so imaginative, smart, funny, and make the best pastries I've ever tasted."

"You're homemade tea is definitely the best I've had."

She chuckled lightly. "You should try my uncle's tea. His tea is much better than mine."

"Then you should try my father's pastries too. He and my grandfather make some of the best pastries ever made."

"I look forward to it. But I really want to tell you something." Azula looked down, sighed heavily, then looked back up. "You are truly amazing. Especially the way you've managed to steal anything that you put your mind to, it's always impressed me and recently you've stolen something from me."

Suddenly a slight feeling of panic set in. What did she steal this time? She's had problems with accidentally stealing from Azula's stuff in the past, usually her phone, but she always gives her stuff back in the end. She doesn't even know what she stole this time so she didn't know where she may have put it this time. She has nearly 2 hundred thousand dollars in her room right now so she could at least pay it back.

"Marinette, you stole my heart."

In that moment, Marinette felt her worry melt away. Her face started to heat up and the air left her lungs. She could barely believe this was happening. They've been roommates for a while and Marinette had definitely started to develop feelings for Azula too. She just never thought they would be reciprocated.

“Well, you should know you stole my heart too.”

They looked at each other for a moment then leaned in for a kiss. It was like heaven, an eternity of happiness, despite the fact it only lasted for a short moment. Once they separated, Marinette said, “I guess we can get our families together when we tell them the news.”

And with that, the first ever Azulanette fanfiction is done. I cannot express to you how hard this was for me. I’ve written and rewritten so many things about this fic should go, this is actually the third attempt/fanfiction I wrote. After a while, I had to realize that I just needed to sit down and write this. In fact, the rough draft for this fic was handwritten because I had some extra time before one of my classes.

Also, and I’m sure this might be a bit obvious, this fic was inspired by Batcat. An anon mentioned that Azulanette reminded them of Damienette and I realized I should integrate myself in the DC x ML side of the fandom so I’ve been binging DC content because it’s been a while since I’ve really sat down and enjoyed DC content outside of Harley Quinn (character and show). Anon, if you’re reading this, you played a big part in this fic and thank you for pointing that out.

With that being said, I’m proud of this. It took about a month and an embarrassing amount of times falling asleep at the keyboard to write this fic but I couldn’t be happier that it’s finally out in the world. Once again, I do plan to write more (especially the other two fics I started to write) but right now I’m mainly just focusing on how Azula and Marinette’s relationship would function.

[ANNOUNCEMENT FOR WELCOME HOME, YOU]

Hi! So if you follow me on both Tumblr and on YouTube, you'd know that I recently released a poll on whether or not I should turn this series into not just a Wally x Reader centered one shot collections series but also involve every other puppet in the neighborhood. For example, Julie x Reader, Howdy x Reader, etc.

The outcome of both polls, in total, was that many would like to see the latter choice of having the other puppets be involved as well! So that's what you'll be seeing in future chapters now

And of course, I'd still tag them appropriately on who the focus of the one shot is and if they're showcasing platonic or romantic connections in the story. I hope you guys would still stick around a bit for the other puppets too because my god do they deserve more love and attention as well <33

As always, what I write aren't canon in any way. After all, it's called fanfic for a reason, but I try my best to keep the original substances of the characters in their personalities when writing. There will be exceptions where I might feel like changing their personalities a bit just to mix things up so just a heads up on that! I'll be tagging that from now on too in case ya'll wouldn't want to read any non-canon personalities on the chapter, or vice versa. Here's a bit of background on how I'll be tagging that btw:

Canon Personality - True or mostly true to their original substance of being puppets for a kid's show (e.g., bubbly, doesn't swear, whatever's presented in the bios of the characters in the website)

Non-canon Personality - Not true to their original substance (e.g., would swear, would act completely out of character, etc.)

Kind of Canon Kind of Not Personality - A mixture of both canon and non-canon personalities (e.g., Julie is canonically portrayed as someone who's always cheery and joyful but I decide to mix her in with a sarcastic personality in one chapter)

I also updated the notes for the series as a whole! You can go and read it but it now basically includes all the details I've mentioned in this announcement. Series link is embedded in the title above!
