It's an odd comfort to experience a Bad Fibromyalgia Time after a long long period of not having this intensity of it.

Like it sucks slsjskdjd of course but

Very validating to experience some of the moderately severe symptoms and realize "wow this fucking sucks, this isn't normal at all, most people do not deal with this and I did a great job at surviving this for years. I deserved way more credit than I myself. Good job, past-me. You were goddamn tenacious."

#sorenhoots #cold sensitive is. attacking me. i got used to 'never gets cold anymore' and right now its like mid 60s and i cant feel anything below my #knees cos theyre numb from cold. and i am scrolling tumblr on my phone with a very strategically placed blanket keeping my body heat near #my hands. otherwise they go numb and i can't do anything with them. WHICH EXPLAINS A LOT OF WHY I WAS ALWAYS NURSING SOME SORE #TENDON OR MUSCLE. i never had proper bloodflow for maintenance and so everyday wear-and-tear accumulated into chronic disability until i #eventually would cripple myself trying to wash my hair (sorry for using a slur; i choose to use it because i have emotional attachment to #the world from a lifetime of this nonsense). and then id need help putting on my shirt for six weeks until i nursed it back to usability at #which point id have fucked up the other arm overusing it. goddamn. #im finding a lot of small secrets to coping with these things. a onesie can be treatment for cold sensitivity. laying on a small pillow can #treat GI issues if it helps align your tubes. why not lol doctors never had answers so i am just vibing. i advise going to a doctor tho. and #if they have good advice pls tell me lol

- and last but not least, xanders eldest sons’ name is xavier, (something similar to xander LOL) and he’s very similiar to his mom, meanwhile his younger sister, whose name is nia, is more like her dad

- nia is 11 while xavier, calla, lucas, michael, and hannah are all 16-17-18-19 but they still make sure to include her!

- callas extremely close with averys children, but fights with michael ALL. THE. TIME.

- all the kids have a sport that they enjoy doing, apart from xavier and calla, who really don’t like them. xaviers fine with playing a small match of soccer or football with his cousins sometimes if they force him, but calla will under no circumstances play anything involving a ball. she does do track though, and is a very fast runner (yes ik tracks a sport but pretend it’s not for like 2 mins pls 😔)

- there is always drama when they get together and do a big family dinner, and it’s usually michael or kylie starting the drama 💀

- hannah and calla both don’t have sisters but they see each other as their sisters and are practically inseparable 💗

- everybody favourites nia because she’s the youngest and she’s usually the one putting the star up on the christmas tree 😭😭 (but everyone loves her so it’s okay 🫶)

- calla is an academic weapon and is on the debate team

-michael and calla are often beefing and whenever they do, avery ALWAYS takes callas side and tells michael, “you’re older, you should know better” (he’s older by like 11 months 💀)

- lucas is the best chess player in the family next to avery and they regularly spend hours on a single match

- although calla takes more after her mother, one thing her and grayson have in common is their love for fashion. they both love making a good impression on people and often go on long shopping trips while callas mother (lyra 🤭) stays home because although she loves shopping, there is no way she could shop for as long as they do

- hannah loves drawing and has taken many different art classes before. she’s extremely talented now and loves sketching things/people around the house. it happens so much that it’s now just become normal to look up and see her drawing you 😭💀

- but she never really keeps her drawings and always wants to throw them out, but every time she tries to jameson takes the sketch from her and put it with his other folder of her art 💗

- hannah regularly takes her brothers’ sweatshirts and sweaters and whenever they see clothing missing from their closet they immediately know she took them 💀

Beatrice has been to one military ball…party…celebration thing. And she knew back then it was to celebrate a fallen Admiral. But this– wow, this was different. For once, she was married to Rooster now and they had three kids - the twins were safely asleep inside the little care room they had for kids in this place.

And Nicole met some friends already, albeit older, around three to four years old. Mav was the one keeping an eye on her, winking at Bea and telling her to enjoy her newly promoted husband, after all his attention would be taken a lot during the night.

She chose not to drink any alcohol, sipping her sweet lemonade as she looks around hoping to find Rooster. She saw him being congratulated by a group of older officers, clapping his shoulder and almost making her 6’2” husband lose his balance.

Beatrice watched with a fond smile as Rooster navigated the sea of well-wishers, his broad shoulders towering over the crowd as he graciously accepted congratulations and praise. Despite the chaos of the celebration, he seemed to handle it all with ease, his trademark smile never faltering as he exchanged pleasantries with his fellow officers.

God,this was her husband, the man she had chosen to spend her life with, and seeing him bask in the recognition of his peers filled her with a sense of joy and satisfaction unlike anything she had ever experienced before.

But amidst the excitement of the evening, Beatrice couldn't shake the feeling of being a fish out of water.

 She had never been particularly comfortable in large social gatherings, preferring the quiet comfort of home to the hustle and bustle of a crowded ballroom. And while she was grateful for the opportunity to support Rooster on his special day, she couldn't help but feel a pang of loneliness amidst the sea of unfamiliar faces.

She glanced around the room, searching for a familiar face to anchor herself to amidst the chaos. Mav caught her eye from across the room, giving her a reassuring wink and a thumbs-up before turning his attention back to Nicole, who was happily chatting away with her newfound friends.

Beatrice smiled back at Mav and she made a mental note to thank him later, for being such a wonderful friend and uncle to her children.

“There you are.”

Beatrice jumps as a pair of arms wrap around her from behind, and Shells props her head on her shoulder, “Heeey babes.”

“Shells! I thought you left?”

Her best friend sputtered, “Me? Girlie,come on. We gotta have some snacks,’sides we still have to congratulate Rooster-” she leans closer “Word of advice, stay close to him, there are lot of Navy Vultures here.”

Bea blinks, ‘...what?’

“Navy Vultures ,a little something me and aunt Penny like to call the old,horny broads that often ignore their husbands for the younger, better looking officers.” Shels smirks, sipping her drink, alcoholic, of course, “God they hit on my grandpa so much. And he just looked young, he was in his 70s!”

“...oh.”

Shells flicks her blue eyes to Bea, “Yeah…so,” she gestures with her index finger, ‘I suggest you go meet Rooster because I see– ohh,Is that Magdalene Howster? Oh girl, speed it up, that woman knows no bounds.”

As Shells nudged Beatrice forward, urging her to join Rooster, and Bea did, navigating through a crowd of unfamiliar faces…but  with the added pressure of fending off unwanted advances, left her feeling overwhelmed.

And protective.

But as she caught sight of Rooster's familiar figure across the room,she squared her shoulders, took a deep breath, and made her way through the crowd, Shells by her side offering words of encouragement.

The words of encouragement being ‘oh I can’t wait to see this!’

As she drew closer to Rooster, she could see the genuine warmth in his eyes as he greeted his fellow officers. His smile widened as he caught sight of her approaching, and Beatrice felt a rush of relief flood through her.

"Hey, gorgeous," Rooster said, wrapping an arm around Beatrice's waist as she reached him. "I've been looking for you." and he kisses her forehead soundly, nuzzling her hair.

Beatrice couldn't help but smile at Rooster's words, her heart swelling with love for him. "I'm right here," she replied, leaning into his embrace. "You did so amazing up there."

Rooster grinned, pulling her closer to press a kiss to her temple. "Thanks, babe," he said softly, his voice filled with gratitude. "Hey Shells.”

“Hey big man.” she lifts her glass in cheers,”I see you met some…of the old school folk.” and she nods towards Magdalene,who walked away to get something to drink but was coming back.

Rooster looked a bit exasperated, “...yeah.” he clears his throat, “She’s…nice.” but he holds Bea’s waist tighter, whispering in her ear, “Stay close to me?”

"Always," she murmured in response to Rooster's whispered plea, her voice barely above a whisper as she pressed a kiss to his cheek. "I'm right here with you."

Rooster smiled gratefully at Beatrice's words, his heart swelling with love for her. "Thank you, babe," he said softly, his voice tinged with relief. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

As Magdalene approached, Shells stepped forward, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she greeted the older woman with a polite smile and a nod of her head. Beatrice followed suit, offering a polite greeting and a smile that she hoped conveyed just the right amount of warmth without encouraging any further advances.

Magdalene returned their greetings with a polite smile of her own, her eyes lingering on Rooster for a moment longer than strictly necessary before she turned her attention back to Shells and Beatrice.

"It's so lovely to see you both here," Magdalene said, her voice dripping with honeyed charm. "And who do we have here?" she added, her gaze drifting to Beatrice. "Who is this lovely young woman?”

Rooster chuckled awkwardly, shifting uncomfortably under Magdalene's scrutinizing gaze. "Uh, yeah," he replied, his voice slightly strained. "This is my wife, Beatrice."

Beatrice smiled tightly, her fingers curling instinctively around Rooster's hand on her waist as she fought to maintain her composure. "Nice to meet you," she said, her voice polite but tinged with a hint of coolness.

Magdalene's smile widened, but there was a hint of mischief in her eyes as she turned her attention back to Rooster. "Well, aren't you a lucky man," she purred, her voice low and sultry. "Such a beautiful wife."

Beatrice felt Rooster’s shudder. And obviously it wasn’t a good one.

Rooster swallowed nervously, his grip on Beatrice's hand tightening ever so slightly. "Uh, yeah,I am,very lucky."

Magdalene's smile widened into a knowing smirk as she reached out to pat Rooster's arm,squeezing his bicep a little longer than necessary. "Well, I won't keep you any longer," she said, her voice dripping with innuendo. "I'm sure you have plenty of admirers waiting to congratulate you."

With that, Magdalene sauntered off, leaving Rooster and Beatrice feeling slightly rattled in her wake. Shells let out a low whistle, her eyes wide with amusement as she turned to face them.

"Wow," she said, her voice filled with awe. "That woman is something else. I’m surprised she’s not dead."

“Shells!” the reprimand came from both of them and the blonde just shrugged.

“What? She’s like 134 years old! She has always been ancient!”

Beatrice couldn't help but chuckle,albeit quietly and she leaned into Rooster's side, seeking comfort in his presence as they navigated the sea of guests together. Shells told them she’d meet them at the table, since the rest of the squad wanted to see him too.

Rooster wrapped his arm around Beatrice, pulling her close as they watched Magdalene disappear into the crowd. Despite his outward calm demeanor, Beatrice could sense the tension radiating off him.

“Hey.” she whispers, touching his chest, “You okay?”

He flicks his gaze down and immediately smiles, kissing her forehead, “I’m good…I’m getting old.” she swats his chest, earning a surprised quiet ‘ow!’ from him, followed by his chuckle, “I think I’m losing my interest in stuff like this. But,we can’t go home yet.”

“Why not?”

“Well,there are other people I gotta meet and Nikki,” he points to their one year old, who is running around with other kids, “Made friends, not to mention the twins are napping. We gotta wait for a bit.”

“Oh,I mean we can take the kids but–” she looks over at Nicole, “Well, she is having fun…and the twins are safe…I suppose we can stick around for a bit," she agreed, leaning into Rooster's side. "We can enjoy the festivities a little longer before heading home."

Rooster nodded, his arm tightening around Beatrice's waist as they made their way through the crowd, kissing her forehead. “Nice. So…let’s see. Hmmm…wanna greet some old Admirals with me?”

"Sure, I'd love to," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of hesitation. "But...I'll be kinda quiet if that's okay? I don't want to get stuck in any awkward conversations."

Rooster chuckled softly, his arm still wrapped around her waist as they navigated through the crowd. "Don't worry, I'll be right there with you," he reassured her, pressing a kiss to her temple. "And if things get too uncomfortable, we can always make a quick escape."

Beatrice nodded in agreement,holding his arm as they approached a group of older gentlemen, Rooster flashed them a warm smile, his confidence shining through. "Gentlemen," he greeted them with a respectful nod, "I hope you're all enjoying the ceremony."

The Admirals returned Rooster's greeting with polite smiles of their own, their eyes drifting curiously to Beatrice. Rooster took the opportunity to introduce her, his voice filled with pride.

"Allow me to introduce my wife, Beatrice," he said, his hand resting protectively on her lower back.

Beatrice smiled politely, offering a polite nod to the Admirals as they greeted her."It's a pleasure to meet you all," she said, her voice warm but reserved, leaning into her husband even more.

One of the Admirals smiled, “A pleasure to meet you, Mrs.Bradshaw.” hearing that still gave her the tingles, “Bradley,son,what a wonderful speech you gave.”

Rooster's chest swelled with pride at the Admiral's compliment, his smile widening at the recognition. "Thank you, sir," he replied graciously, "I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's an honor to be recognized for my service."

The other Admirals nodded in agreement, expressing their appreciation for Rooster's dedication and commitment to the Navy. Beatrice watched with a sense of awe as her husband interacted with his colleagues, just smiling at how easily it flowed.

Rooster steered it towards lighter topics, sharing anecdotes from his time in the Navy -’ hehe yeah i sure did that thing that you did too Admiral Lee’ –and exchanging pleasantries with the Admirals. Beatrice found herself relaxing in his presence, her initial apprehension melting away as she realized how effortlessly Rooster navigated the social dynamics of the event.

Thank god.

Rooster's hand found hers, his fingers interlacing with hers as he leaned in close. "You're doing great, Bea," he murmured, his voice filled with pride, "I'm so proud of you."

Beatrice smiled up at him, her heart swelling with love and gratitude. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the din of the crowd, "I’m trying."

Rooster squeezed her hand gently, his eyes softening with affection. "You are great.” he says,kissing her cheek when the Admirals were busy talking amongst themselves now. He looks up when he hears music playing, smirking a bit, “Gentlemen, if you excuse me.” and he takes Bea away from there.

Rooster led Beatrice away from the group of Admirals, a playful smirk dancing on his lips as he guided her towards the dance floor. "Care to dance, Mrs. Bradshaw?" Rooster asked, his voice low and inviting as he pulled Beatrice close.

Beatrice's heart fluttered at the sight of her husband's outstretched hand, a warm smile spreading across her lips. "I'd love to," she replied, breathily.

"You're a natural dancer," Rooster murmured, his voice soft as he twirled her gently across the floor.

Beatrice laughed softly, her eyes sparkling with joy. "I had a good teacher," she teased, her cheeks flushing pink as she gazed up at her husband.

“Me? Pft.” he smirks, “I know two moves and that’s it.”

“You danced amazingly at our wedding.” she says, giggling as he spins her around.

Rooster grinned at Beatrice's comment, the memory of their wedding day bringing a warm glow to his heart. "Well, I had the best partner," he replied, his voice soft with affection as he pulled her closer. His voice soft and deep against her ear as he spoke, ‘And I just love seeing your body moving, gorgeous.”

Her cheeks heat up as she smiles, but she lets him continue.

“And you know,I really love seeing you wearing dresses.” he purrs, “It’s a sin.” 

“Roos.”

“I’m serious.” he leans back, appearing as innocent as before while surrounded by people, “...hm.”

“What?’

“...you know, what do you think about letting the kids stay with your parents?” she arches her brow, ‘...I have an idea.” her brow goes higher, “And I mean, I think it’d be fun.”

She smiles, “I assume this idea means no clothes?”

He smirks, sighing softly, “Why,gorgeous, it’s like you can read my mind.”

TIPS on drawing BIPOC ocs!

Soooo I recently did a collab with another webcomic creator, if you have seem my last post you know what one : ))

as soon as I saw the wonderful artwork I received I noticed something that felt off to me, it's lin's skintone.

This is my Oc Lin Peckett (main character of my comic I Love you Lin peckett)

I never specified her ethnicity (which is my fault on my part) I thought people might know by her looks that she's a POC. specifically she is black/Mexican mixed (I believe blaxican is the term used sometimes)

here are some examples of people I based her off of aesthetically

they are all people of color, share similar skin tone and hair as her. these images are good inspiration to use!

these women in these pictures are all women who are black/Mexican

I used the eye dropper tool to pick 3 different shades of color for comparison, notice how multiple shades are similar to her skintone

lin has tan skin thats more on the lighter side, sometimes her skin tone changed depending on the lighting but her main color is tan. she has lots of warmer tones compared to cooler tones, so keep it more on the yellow side than red/pink compared to other skintones. you can see a difference between the top and middle one than to the bottom one.

here are some white women to compare lin's skintone to

notice how some are similar to her skin, you might think ok so she's white NOPE, look a second time and notice how the color that matched best with her are the parts of these women's faces that are shaded or shadowed. using these women are not good references and if you notice most of them have more pinker tones, lin has warm toned skin.

heres two pieces of artwork I received recently of my oc lin, (both by wonderfully talented creators I'm grateful to get art from) but notice how bluedragon's artwork is the same as lin's. that's because she used an art programs best friend

use it if you're not sure what skintone to use on a character!

but back to that drawing, you can see a big difference between the two pieces the one on the left by bluedragon is accurate. and the one on the right is by mk-wizard which has lin is very light skin. which is just not correct lol

so let's use are little friend again (the eye dropper tool) to recolor lin with the skintone used in mk-wizard's artwork. as you can tell it's a BIG difference! lin would be a unseasoned piece of chicken if I colored her like this lol (get it …chicken.. HA)

so my final notes to this long post is, please study the character you are drawing a bit more, ask questions. I know this artist isn't whitewashing lin purposely it's an honest mistake that could be anything from different computer monitors showing up different tones? or them being inexperienced drawing POC? which you have all the time in the world to keep studying while drawing! it's okay to make mistakes and learn from them : )))

also this isn't a "callout post" or anything negative towards the artist, this is simply some advice not just for them but for every artist.

I hope this helped in any way possible? and if I missed anything or made any mistakes pls educate me more on drawing BIPOC! I love to hear advice <3 anyways have a good day and drink some water bye~

hi i’m lily!

finally decided to join shiftblr after years of following shifttok and getting absolutely nowhere lol.

i’ve got at least like five drs in the entire three years i’ve known about shifting (i know that’s like not a lot but i really don’t watch enough movies/tv shows to make anymore).

some notable ones are

70’s punk dr (had a huge punk phase in 2020 which is when i learnt about shifting actually)

90’s snl dr (had a huge snl phase and wanting to be a cast member back when it was really good aka 90’s-early 00’s)

the mighty boosh dr (if you don’t know it’s a british comedy show that i’m really into…this one’s a bit weird ngl)

1999 slipknot dr (I LOVE THESE GUYS i just want to be their friend and maybe possibly date one of them sorry i’m delusional but lemme have fun)

i’m mainly trying to shift to my slipknot dr so i’m going to be posting a lot about that. i’ll be documenting my journey and also just posting random things ig. A Failed Attempt

The two of you are happily in a relationship, and have been for several months know. But even so, Levi can't help but feel like he should be more traditionally romantic.

A/N: Have this dumb little blurb that came to me as I was getting ready for bed. his is extremely stupid and unedited but anyway. enjoy ig lol

Say something. Just say it, you silly coward. 

The first thing that comes to mind blurts out of his mouth before Levi can think it over. “Your hair smells nice today. It’s looking very... uh, clean. And shiny. That’s... that’s good.”

No! Not that! What the actual fuck was that? No!

Puzzled, you turn around from the snack you are preparing, raising an eyebrow. “Uh... thanks? I washed my hair last night before going to bed... and you were literally in the shower with me, so you already know that.” 

For fuck’s sake, I should never try to compliment anyone again. “Forget it,” Levi scowls. 

“No, baby, hang on,” you catch him by the sleeve before he can flee this disastrous conversation, “were you... were you trying to flirt with me just then?” 

“No.” Heat rushes to his face.

You lean a little closer. “My hair smells nice today? I sure hope it does, considering you were the one to gift me that particular shampoo I’m currently using,” you smirk. Gods, you are so annoying. Why the fuck is that smirk of yours making his heart fucking spasm? “Did Miche give you flirting tips or something?” 

“Stop.” Levi is ashamed that the plea comes out like a whine and turns away from you. For the record, no, he would not stoop as low to ask his comrades (friends, he thinks begrudgingly) for something so trivial as helping him flirt with you. “Forget I said anything.” 

“Awww,” you coo. He wants to wipe that smug shit-eating grin off of your face. Preferably with his own lips. His face is so hot he thinks he might combust. If he’s being honest, he’d rather explode in a spontaneous burst of flames than continue with this conversation. 

You tilt your head, approaching ever closer, one hand settling at the curve of his waist. “You’re so cute.” 

“I am not,” he counters, and curses that his voice had chosen that very moment to break mid-sentence. “Let me go, I have a strategy meeting right about now.”

“No you don’t,” you say, your thumb rubbing patterns into his flesh. He shivers. 

“No he doesn’t,” Hange echoes breezily as they waltz into the kitchen with an empty mug in hand. Probably refilling their coffee. He simultaneously is relieved and disappointed that you withdraw your hand from his waist, taking a step back. “Sorry, what are we talking about?”

“Nothing,” Levi says quickly. The last thing he needs is Hange finding out about his disastrous attempts at being more traditionally romantic, and how you had managed to turn the tables on him in less than five bloody seconds. 

“Sure...” they mutter, giving him a teasing look, but choosing not to say more on it. 

Glaring at them as their back is turned to him, Levi huffs. This is all their fault anyway, they’d suggested this in the first place. He hadn’t even asked - and they have no idea that one offhanded comment had wormed deep into his thoughts to the point where he’d say something so clumsily awkward in an attempt to flirt. 

‘Did you flirt with her?’ Hange had said, trying to pry details about how you two had gotten together out of him. ‘Women are into that, you know. A little bit of flirting here and there. Get her flustered a little bit. Did you do that? Fluster her? I bet she’d like it.’

‘Quit it. I’m not looking for relationship advice, Hange. Nor am I going to tell you every tiny detail about my love life.’

He’s made a few comments here and there about the stupidity of the new, rowdy teen recruits.

Really, though, he’s no better.

You give him a brief kiss. Your lips are soft, inviting. Once more, he wishes Hange hadn’t walked in so he could kiss you for longer without worrying about prying eyes. “I’ll see you later, Lee.” You grin, and lower your voice as you teasingly say, “and by the way, your hair smells nice as well. Clean, too, but obviously, nobody’s expecting any less from you.”

Hange chokes. 

You pick up your plate with your snacks and wave him goodbye (he buries his burning face in his hand) before leaving the private kitchen. Almost immediately, Hange is turning on their heel, undoubtedly about to bombard him with questions that he absolutely is not willing to answer.  

“Shut up.” 

They raise their hands in mock surrender. “I didn’t say anything!”

been thinking about reiner as a nerd

nerd!reiner has never had a girlfriend. sure he’s had crushes and even tried asking a few out, but no one ever said yes. he was still lanky and awkward as a teenager and didn’t start to fill out until college. so he doesn’t really try anymore and just admires people from afar.

so when he sees you in his biology lab, he is immediately smitten. and of course you two are assigned as lab partners and dude is freaking out! the most attractive person he has ever seen is going to work alongside him every mwf for three hours. my guy almost drops his pencil and the forceps he’s using when you accidentally bump into him. the blush on his face when you ask for his number is so bright, but its just for exchanging notes, right?

one friday, after lab is over, you start asking him about his major (biomedical engineering), what he wants to do with it (create new tech for earlier cancer detection), and other general stuff. its the first time a person other than his best friend has wanted to know things about him. next thing he realizes, he’s standing outside your dorm with you batting your eyes asking him to come in. i mean, how could he say no?

and how could you resist him? he’s so tall, 6′3 with golden eyes hidden behind his rectangle glasses. you’re not sure if he realizes how many girls stare at him. oh how you longed to run your fingers through his blonde hair and dig your fingernails into his back. those t shirts he wears to lab do nothing to hide his long hours in the gym.

but he enters your room and doesn’t know what to do. you get up on your bed and ask if he wants to watch a movie, but he cant move. ‘what is happening’, he thinks. what if you try to kiss him? what if you want even more after that? he can’t give that to you, he doesn’t know how. 

so he just turns around and leaves.

bertholdt, annie, pieck, and porco are yelling at him that night to text you and apologize. they explain that his actions likely hurt your feelings and now he feels even worse than he did before. like after they leave his room, he starts to tear up and keeps telling himself that this is why people aren’t attracted to him.

so when he gets a text from you, he’s confused. why are you apologizing? you did nothing wrong. he swears. he can only imagine you crying because of his actions. he’s the asshole. he’s the problem. it is all his fault.

you were crying. you felt so bad for crossing any boundaries

he responds and tells you that you did nothing wrong, he should have said something before leaving, and that he was sorry.

monday’s lab was really awkward. his voice broke when he asked you to even the scale. your hands were shaking when you handed him his gloves. reiner stayed behind to clean up and the professor asked what happened between the two of you. they didn’t care of course, just like should you guys get new partners.

reiner almost screamed out a no. he didn’t want a new partner, he wanted things to go back to the way they were. he wanted you. he needed you.
