Adventures of YOUR part time job in the Lookismverse

G/N. You work the graveyard shift in a convenience store. You meet bizarre characters on different nights. Part 1 | Part 2

The customers can usually be separated into 3 categories.

Drunks, students, and weirdos.

Unfortunately for you, lately the weirdos have turned into regulars. But fortunately the weirdos aren't so weird.

The one that made it a habit to check in on you, with the scars and the cheesy wink wasn't so bad. Jack, was it? You can't remember and it's been too long for you to ask. You awkwardly address him as 'you' and avoid any situation where you need to use his name.

He likes to ask how you are, tell a few jokes. Spirit undeterred even when you look at him with a blank face because bless his soul, he's not funny at all but at least he tries and he's a lot less weird than first impression.

He hangs around at odd times, then again you do only work at odd times. Telling you stories about this and that. Something about Big Deal, something about a guy called Sinu and something about another guy called Samuel.

It's difficult to keep track. It's like he wants to talk but he's cryptic and god, it's 4am who can blame you if your eyes are glazing over.

John, or is it Jerry, is waffling again. He seems to always be talking about Samuel. Who he apparently misses and wonders where it's gone wrong and hang on, he's never been explicit but you just had to know.

When he takes a breath to munch on a cookie, you ask, "Hold on, is Samuel your ex?"

Wait no his name is Jason, definitely Jason- freezes mid-chew, "Why would you say that? He's my friend!"

Joshua sprays crumbs all over you but you note how he doesn't say no.

(You think you see this Samuel one early morning. You’re pretty sure you’ve seen him before and man, he really looks like shit.

Looks like the breakup is getting to him too.

But sometimes weirdos are just weirdos.

It's ok. It comes with the territory so long as they're not in the habit of hurling abuse or whatever, you can deal with it.

In recent memory, there's only been two people that you have had to almost chase out with a broomstick.

You should have known they would be weirdos when one of them walks in in surprisingly teeny tiny purple camo shorts. Not that you're a pearl clutcher, but you're worried that one wrong move and he could be dangling out.

Besides. Purple. Camo. Shorts. Those words should never follow one after the other, and you repress a shudder at this guy's hideous dress sense when he comes up to you.

You thought the other one was alright, at least there's no hideous purple camo shorts in sight and his hair is nice (huh, this style must be popular, you’ve seen a lot of guys with this hair)-

But then he opens his mouth and asks for snakes and you think it's karma for judging camo-guy for his appearance when his friend is equally odd.

"We usually keep the snakes next to the ramen," you deadpan and the two men actually go to seek out the supposed snake (meat or pet purposes?) only to return moments later, empty-handed and looking confused.

"I think the snake is all sold out," Non-camo guy says as camo-guy glances around as if you might have hidden your snake stock elsewhere.

They must have thought you were stupid as you stood there opening and closing your mouth like a fish (or maybe a snake, do snake do these things), because come on, how are you even supposed to formulate a response to that?

Then you look at their eyes and also notice them looking snakey and surmise it must be some weird fetish thing. Pretending to be snakes and eating snakes and having pet snakes.

You want no part of this and tell them to get out.

"I'm Baek Hangyeol," a new face says, pointing to his ID badge pinned to the white coat.

"Doctor Baek Hangyeol." He stresses Doctor and Hangyeol and you wonder if he is waiting for a round of applause.

You don't say anything but you do notice he looks like a teenager and what idiot would let a teenager operate on them. (Drunk, student, weirdo. He could be all three.) Doctor Baek Hangyeol must be bluffing.

You decide not to call him on his bullshit.

"Cool," is all you respond with because you don't want another complaint for being too mouthy. You are half tempted to tell him you're not a doctor, that you just work here but that seemed kinda redundant so you keep your mouth shut.

"Do you believe in true beauty?" he asks when you finish bagging up his goods (a plain water with added minerals, a bottle of multivitamins and a protein shake) and you think what sort of question is that.

You give a halfhearted shrug and say "Sure" and he hands his business card over.

"If you're ever considering it," he tells you with a wild smile. After he has left you look down at the lettering, eyes zeroing in on ‘Plastic Surgery’.

Excuse me?! What is he trying to say?

You thought he was a weirdo but now he has firmly shifted over to asshole. You regret not telling him to go fuck himself while you had the chance. The complaint would 100% be worth it. Zero regrets.

On your break, you burn the card and feel a small sense of satisfaction.

A tall blonde guy with a creepy vibe (hold on, have you seen him before, he seems familiar. Then again, creepy blonde guys seem to be quite common around here-) walks in with the most billowing coat you have ever seen.

The entrance is kinda cool but the actual coat is kinda tragic with the cheesy red lettering and you wonder if you can pull it off any better than him.

You're still wondering about his coat when he's paying you, and hang on you have definitely seen him before because he says arigatou and hands over yen and you tell him no. Won only.

The idea of the coat, which has evolved into you fantasising about having a full blown cape, quickly loses its charm however, when the blonde gets caught in the automatic doors and you have to wrestle them open to free him.

Afterwards, you ask if he's ok, if he is harmed and can’t resist asking if the coat is ok too. You really don't want a lawsuit on your watch especially when the malfunctioning doors are not your fault.

Your kindness is repaid by him telling you he's not interested (what the fuck) and that his heart will not stray (again, what the fuck).

You accidentally eavesdrop on a couple of students lamenting about missing out on school work. You didn’t mean to eavesdrop ok, the aisles are tight and cramped, it’s a small space.

You peek over, and the one with big ears (seriously, they are huge) is telling the one with his back to you (goodness, his back is huge too) that school is important and he’s got notes the other one can use.

It’s sweet, you think. School is important and it’s good they recognise that. Nice of them to help each other out too.

When they both come to pay (holy shit, that’s a fuckton of chocolate milk), you’re surprised to find Big Ear’s friend, Big Back, looks anywhere between late 20s and early 40s but it’s never too late to catch up on education, you suppose.

You spend the rest of your shift feeling motivated.

“Going camping?” you ask the guy with the sandy blonde hair, chuckling nervously and ringing his items through.

Either he’s going camping or he’s gonna kill and hide a dead body in the forest.

He’s pretty stoic, only giving you a curt nod. You can’t help but probe him a bit more. You’ve got a feeling that if or when the dead body turns up, you want to at least clear your conscience that you’ve tried your best so you make some more idle small talk.

You mention how you haven’t been camping for ages, not since you nearly burned your tent down and singed your hair after you tried to cook some marshmallows over a fire that turned out to be more of a raging bonfire (and might have awoken your pyromaniac streak, but you keep that to yourself).

The blonde guy actually pipes up and says “Master Taesoo would never do that.”

You almost apologise out of principle due to how earnest he sounds, then he mentions something about how good this Master Taesoo is at catching and cooking snake and you wonder what the fuck is up with people and the snake obsession.

Either way, it doesn’t sound like someone is getting murdered. Only a snake (poor snake) so at least you can sleep easy later that day.

“Oh hi DG,” you say, “Sorry about your cryptocurrency falling through. Diegocoin was it?”

He blinks at you a few times in surprise and heavens above. What’s that saying, fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice, shame on you? This guy has fooled you exactly no times with his shitty disguises and his effort has substantially dwindled too.

He has only put his hood up and you did think you might get mugged at one point-

It’s an empty store, for crying out loud. Who comes into an empty store in the asscrack of night with their hood up, not wanting to draw attention to themselves.

Then you notice the pink hair and shifty glance and duh.

“Is it the-?” he asks, putting his hood down and signalling to his hair.

“Yeah, it’s the-” you signal to your own head of hair. “Dude you really need to dye it if you’re going for subtle.” You pause, consider something, “Hold on.”

You walk over to the beauty aisle and grab the black hair dye.

“On the house,” you tell DG because this guy really has no self awareness.

“What do you mean no?”

“No." Your boyfriend peers down at you, arms crossed and at the end of his patience with you.

You open your mouth to argue-

“No. You know nothing about Taekwondo. How can you work here?”

You look around helplessly at the studio. He’s not exactly wrong but you’re sick of dealing with the weirdos and the snakes and the creepy blondes. “But your dad-”

“I don’t care what that stupid old man says,”

“Taehoon!” Hansu scolds from the other side of the room, and Hansu's class of toddlers all whirl their head around to stare.

“I can learn?” you offer and Taehoon raises one skeptical brow.

“So you’re going to be a student?” You nod enthusiastically, “And we’re going to pay you for that?”

Oh. Damn.

Taehoon was an asshole.

That is what you're currently thinking as you sit down crossed-legged on the floor of the dojang as you stare up at Taehoon who was standing before you.

“You're such an ass!” you exclaimed loudly, glaring at him as you gently rub your forehead.

He grabbed a water bottle and took a sip, completely ignoring your whole existence. This, of course, made you even more annoyed.

How dare he flick you on the forehead really hard and act as if nothing happened? He's absolutely heartless!

“That hurt, you jerk!” once again, you expressed how you were currently feeling, grumbling under your breath about how much of an annoying and mean bastard he was.

As you continued to sulk while still sitting on the floor with a frown on your face, Taehoon's gaze wandered over you, lingering for a few seconds before a soft sigh left his lips.

“Damn it... Let me see.” he mumbled before crouching in front of you, reaching forward and carefully lifting your chin up.

He checked your forehead and saw that it was slightly red, making him realise that he might have used too much strength than intended.

You watch him while remaining silent, noticing how his lips were formed into a thin line and how his eyes narrowed as he observed the red mark on your forehead.

He honestly looks like he's ready to murder someone with how scary and tense his face was. You wonder what other people would think if they saw the two of you in this position. Maybe they would assume that he was threatening you to give him your money or something similar.

As your mind wanders away in your own little world, you failed to register that Taehoon had inched closer, his face nearing yours before his lips made contact with your skin.

It took you a moment to process what was happening, still trying to make sense that Taehoon's lips are on your forehead, softly kissing it.

You blinked a few times in utter confusion and surprise when he pulled away and made eye contact with you. He brought his hand up from your chin towards the side of your face, cupping your cheek as he stared into your eyes.

“There, do you feel better now?” He asks in a casual tone, his face stoic yet the tinge of pink on his cheeks and ears didn't go unnoticed by you, but you decided not to comment on it.

You smiled teasingly, shaking your head, “Nope, it still hurts. Maybe you should kiss me here instead.” you said, pointing towards your lips and puckering it up for extra effect.

Taehoon grumbled, rolling his eyes and averting his gaze for a moment before letting out a deep breath and looking at you with an annoyed expression.

“You little sh... Ugh, fine, but you better stop whining after this and get back to practise, okay?”

“Alright!”

And with that, he closed the gap between the two of you, his lips meeting yours in a soft, tender kiss.

You smiled and closed your eyes before kissing him back, enjoying the sweet kiss the two of you shared. His lips were soft against yours and the way he was caressing your skin, drawing small circles on your cheek with his thumb while he kisses you in the most gentle way made your heart flutter.

Lost in the moment, the both of you failed to notice someone opening the door, “Taehoon, could you help me with moving these boxes inside–”

A thud can be heard along with a rather loud gasp, making the two of you pull away from each other and turn towards the source of the noise.

There stood, a wide-eyed Seong Hanseo, who was dramatically covering his mouth with a hand and the box he had was dropped by his feet.

There was an awkward silence that enveloped the dojang for what felt like an eternity, when suddenly, the middle-aged man's face became serious.

You and Taehoon tensed up, preparing yourselves for a scolding to come from the old man. Although, a few moments ticked by and it didn't come. Instead, what greeted the two of you was a father who looked like he was about to cry.

“Ah... You're really grown now... I can still remember the days when I was still changing your diapers like it was yesterday.” Hanseo said, looking towards the large glass window with a reminiscent expression on his face.

“I remember when you were very little, you cried when you accidentally stepped on a dog's poo–”

“Dad, shut up!” Taehoon shouted standing up from his crouched position, glaring daggers at his old man with his face completely red as a riped strawberry.

“Oh, and there was also this time when you fell and slipped down face first when you tried running down the playground slide–”

The day ended with you learning about a bunch of blackmail materials childhood stories of Taehoon. He, unfortunately for him, also had to sit and listen as his father embarrassed him in front of you.

He just knows that you will tease him endlessly about all the things his father was telling you about.

Taehoon doesn't get the Idea of dating someone.

He's the typical person who likes to do his daily life normally.

Taehoon doesn't lack love from parents. If anything he's full of love and care from his parents.

So Taehoon wasn't in a rush into falling in love, in his head love is love and it'll come when it'll come.

A/N: first fic, edited, I don't think I could balance the length to separate it into chapters, so here ya go XD Decided to write for Hoon-ie after not getting enough fics of him. I read every possible fic in existence, so now I'm joining the rabbit hole. Pairing: Taehoon Seong x !F reader (Gender Neutral, actually. But it steers more towards a female reader.) Themes: Fluff, profane language, actual fluff

There were a few things that you came to agree on with Taehoon before you moved in together, in which he took the time to hash out the nitty-gritty details that would shape your lifestyle.

First things first, cleanliness was non-negotiable. Clean up after your own mess, get rid of those stinky socks on the coffee table, and don't you dare delay washing those dirty dishes. A fair share of chores is just as important. Fuck gender roles. That shit doesn't matter to Taehoon, neither to you. You embraced a fair distribution of chores, because who needs traditional gender norms cramping your style?

Communication was key to keeping your domestic life intact. You made it a rule to give each other a heads-up before inviting anyone over. Taehoon didn't want to be caught by your dad walking out of his room after he just woke up, walking around the place while he was shirtless, and you couldn't blame him. No free fanservice for your old man, sorry.

And then, there was the ultimate deal-breaker: absolutely, ABSOLUTELY no pets allowed. Sad, but necessary. You both recognized the responsibilities and potential burden that a furry friend could bring into your peaceful (chaotic mostly, thanks to your petty bickerings) haven. So, you made the tough call to keep your space pet-free, even though it meant missing out on endless cuteness.

These seemingly straightforward house rules were the backbone of your cohabitation. You can see where this is going at, just basic house rules you'd need to abide by. Easy peasy, right?

Dragging your exhausted self through the threshold, you fumbled with your keys, the metallic jingle filling the air as you struggled to unlock the door. With a half-hearted stretch and a lazy rub of your bleary eyes, you muttered curses under your breath. Fuck them. The sheer stupidity of your project groupmates. Ugh, seriously, could life get any more frustrating? But hey, that's fine since you have-

"You cute little shit. You're mine."

Are your ears lying to you? Is your menace of a boyfriend baby talking someone… Who's not you?!? To hear him speak so sweetly that he would never even bring himself to talk to you in the same way as he did just now. That's right, give him a piece of your mind.

Brows furrowing in frustration and jealousy, you'd speak up. You need to talk to him, he deserves a little lecture. As you walked inside your humble abode, you grumpily stomped your way to the bedroom.

"Taehoon Seong, What the f-"

Caught red-handed, Taehoon's eyes widened as he notices your enraged expression. In a panicked manner, he swiftly hurled a nearby blanket into a corner of the room, as if hoping to hide the evidence of his silly stunt. You'd rarely see such a horrified look on his usually stoic expression, Calling this pretty boy other than the stupid nicknames you give him feels so strangely threatening, almost like stepping into uncharted territory. Hello? He's "Hoon-ie", "Pretty Boy", "Sneaky Link", "Sexy Bastard"… Who the fuck is "Taehoon Seong"?

But before you could launch into a full-blown confrontation, a soft and unmistakable "Meow" reverberated through the air, breaking the awkward tension. Busted. Who would have ever thought that Taehoon, the seemingly more composed and level-headed one in the relationship, would dare to break the sacred "no pets" rule? It was unbelievable, mind-boggling, and to make matters worse, it wasn't even you who did this cheeky act. This left you momentarily stunned.

Now, off to berating your boyfriend.

"Oi, I thought we–"

"That was me."

"Didn't know that my man can meow like a harmless creature–"

"Shut the fuck up…"

An awkward silence fills the air for a moment, with you thinking about the act Taehoon pulled, while he starts contemplating whether or not he should break it. The tension was then interrupted by this "unwanted guest". Of course, the cat manages to escape from the blanket, heading its way towards you, its tiny paws padding across the floor.

You know that you can't stay mad, especially when Taehoon is being unusually soft – except that it's not being directed towards you. Your boyfriend is an immature dick of a tsundere, deal with it.

Leaning down to stroke the adorable creature that had stolen your boyfriend's heart, you couldn't help but be enthralled by its soft, velvety fur. Okay, let's admit it, the cat was undeniably cute, but that didn't mean you could suppress the pangs of jealousy that surged within you as Taehoon showered the little feline with affection.

"Why on earth didn't you give me a heads up about bringing this cute shit home? Seriously, you've broken not one, but two rules,"

You exclaimed, unable to hide your frustration.

He glanced at you, a hint of guilt flickering in his eyes.

"I acted impulsively, and I'm sorry."

Is what you imagined he would say. After all, he should apologize for his thoughtless actions. But let's face it, again – your boyfriend had a knack for being a dick. Instead of the heartfelt apology you expected, all you received was a blank stare and a nonchalant shrug.

"Oh, for fuck's sake."

You exclaimed, exasperatedly. Pinching the bridge of your nose, you let out a weary sigh. Finally, he broke his silence, bringing an end to the internal debate he seemed to be having.

"I brought it home because it reminded me of you."

And that's a good thing right? He probably brought it home since the cat was cute, like you, right?

"Where did you even get this? Did you buy it, take it from an animal shelter, take it from the streets… Or did you steal this from someone?"

Too many questions, Taehoon is NOT willing to answer them. But he does anyway because you being an interrogative bitch needs to stop.

"Took it from the streets after I-"

Taehoon began, but you interrupted him, already familiar with the story.

"Lemme guess, another round of beating assholes up?"

You asked, a hint of sarcasm in your voice as you gave him that annoying, knowing, AUDACIOUS smirk. It turns him on a little though, not that he'd admit that.

"They were hurting it."

So, instead of mindlessly beating the shit out of random thugs just for 500 won, he had actually stepped in to protect the defenseless creature? For once, Taehoon had an actual reason for his actions – okay, maybe not once – but it caused a surprising warmth to spread through your heart. You couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for him. It was as if he genuinely wanted to provide a safe haven for the cat, and that realization melted away any lingering resentment.

You looked at Taehoon, noticing a glimmer of excitement in his eyes as he gazed at the little feline. You could've sworn he looked so determined to keep the rascal. In that moment, your heart softened at the oddity of your dear menace.

"Okay, but for real, why did the cat remind you of me?"

Ugh, seriously. Stop with the questions. It's slightly pissing Taehoon off to the extent that he'd kick your ass (only lightly though, knowing full well that it'd rile you up anyway).

"Weak and helpless like you. Especially during training. At least sometimes. Most of the time."

If you expected a better answer than that, then prepare to be dissapointed. He's Taehoon Seong after all, you brought yourself into this.

"And in bed too-"

You send a series of aggressive smacks on his ass. His comment was a little uncalled for! Oh, come on, Taehoon!

"And cute. And cute! Stop it, bitch!"

He chuckled in amusement; those little hits would do little to no damage. And once you stopped, the both of you would look at the cat with another question in mind.

"What are you gonna name it?"

"Ratface."

"Disgusting. Let's go for it."

"Bitch, I was kidding."

"Hoon-ie Junior, then?"

"That's a shitty name."

"It stemmed from yours though-"

"Exactly."

"Meow~"

Taehoon's naming skills were straight up shitty, and it was painfully obvious considering the ridiculous names he had come up with so far. Some were unnecessarily flamboyant, meant purely for sarcastic amusement, while others were downright horrendous. But let's face it, naming a cat after a character from Tekken would be a vast improvement compared to "Ratface." It had been ten fucking minutes, and neither you nor Taehoon had managed to think of a decent name yet.

"What about 'Hwoarang'?"

"Seriously? Haha, you're terrible at this."

You couldn't help but sneer at Taehoon, teasing him mercilessly as he futilely attempted to push your face away, only for you to playfully bring it even closer, peppering his face with kisses. Deep down, he wanted to do the same to you right now, but his entire focus was fixated on finding a proper name for the cat.

"Bitch, you're no better yourself,"

He retorted with a scoff, rolling his eyes in exasperation. I mean, who in their right mind would name something as sweet as this little feline "Tabasco"?

"Pocachip."

You suggested, realizing that both you and Taehoon were nowhere near finding a suitable name.

With a defeated sigh, Taehoon gave up, flopping down on the bed with the cat resting in his lap. It seemed better to leave the poor thing unnamed than to burden it with a ridiculous moniker. Naming could wait for now.

Ugh, if you ever considered having mini Taehoons then- whoops, too early for that.

But honestly, if you couldn't even come up with a name for a cat, how on earth would you manage to name your own children? Then again, it was too early to think about starting a family, and having kids wasn't currently an option on the table.

"I'll go out and buy some things for the cat."

Leaving again? You just got home. Not on your pretty boy's watch. Before you could make a move, Taehoon swiftly grabbed your wrist, his expression turning blank as he stared at you intently.

"I already took care of that."

He stated firmly.

This man was full of surprises. It was evident that he truly wanted to take care of the cat. Seeing Taehoon in this soft and caring state was unusual but endearing. If you got to witness this side of him every day, then you had no choice but to happily play the third wheel while he tended to the little kitten.

"You're really serious about this. Hah! I always knew you were a softy deep down~"

Bitch, you're teasing him so much. Stop poking his cheeks and shit, it's making him feel all giddy. He smacked your hand away, but you could have sworn to god you saw a faint pink tint on his usually pale complexion. Damn it, his fair skin made it difficult for him to hide the blush.

Minutes, hours then days pass by in a blur. Yet you and Taehoon are still no closer to giving the furball a decent name, not that the little stray needs one. The cat shall remain nameless for now, no big deal. Your life's still pretty much the same, at least a little.

Though there were times you felt a pang of jealousy creep over you as Taehoon would DELIBERATELY sweet talk the kitten just to get a reaction out of you. LOL! You have no idea how smug he feels whenever you pout or sulk in the corner of the room. He knows what he's doing, and once you caught on, he turned it down a little. Keyword: A little.

You thought caring for the adorable kitten while Taehoon was away for taekwondo practice would be easy-peasy-Taehoon-tease-me. But you were so wrong.

"Psspspspss kitty kitty!"

You call, desperately trying to gain the cat's affection. But to no avail. How does Taehoon make it look so effortless?

Every time you and Taehoon want some lovey-dovey time, that furry menace does everything to steal your man's attention. The lion, the witch, the audacity of this bitch. This goddamn motherfucker's gonna keep Taehoon all to itself.

"Cockblocker."

You sigh in frustration.

The furball has now wormed its way into your hearts. Yet giving it a name seems impossible. For now, the nameless stray shall remain…causing mischief and mayhem, one purr at a time.

"Hoon-ie, I have no idea how you get that little shit listen to you."

Other than Taehoon being the one to bring the cat home, is there really something else that would make the fluffball listen to him? Okay, he's intimidating, that's a plus. And it's the same reason as to why Hobin and Snapper would have to deal with his antics.

"My words are law."

"Not to me, they're not."

Taehoon chuckles. Oh, how could you be so stubborn? Accept the fact that this man will get anything he wants, no matter what sort of measures he'd take.

"I'm just better than you at everything else."

You gasped in mock offense, though deep down you knew that his statement was about 49.99% correct. But hey, at least you're better in making his heart pound of his chest. He gets all tingly and warm, ew, cringe. You make him feel so weak and you're not just better at it, you're the best.

"Huh? Wanna bet, pretty boy?!?"

Once you've started, know that you shouldn't back down. After all, you don't want to deal with Taehoon's teasing all week for such a petty argument.

"Alright, how about this - whoever can get the little shit to sit on their lap first wins."

Damn, this pretty boy loves you so much to the point he'll participate or even suggest bullshit.

"HAH! YOU'LL SEE."

You and Taehoon shoot challenging glances at each other as you call the cat, trying to lure it over with treats and toys. The furball pays you no heed and walks between the two of you, seemingly ignoring your bets and bickering.

"We really need a name for it."

And "Pocachip", "Tabasco", "Hoon-ie Jr." is not allowed. Taehoon starts to think whether or not you were hungry during thinking about those names. "Sh-"

He didn’t like you.

He didn’t think about you all day.

And he sure as hell wasn’t hoping for you to approach him.

Or at least that’s what Taehoon told himself as he fixated his gaze on you talking to Yeonwoo across the room.

You two didn’t know each other well at all. He could count the number of times you two had actually communicated on his fingers, the very first being when you had patched Yeonwoo up after they had fought. An incident that you thankfully didn’t hold against him.

At that time, it had only been a brief eye contact, but now it seemed that it was much more him.

Due to his poor school attendance and the fact that your classes never overlapped, he didn’t see you much. But when he did…

It would be engraved in his memory.

Even if you didn’t see him, he saw you and that was enough to keep him up at night, thinking about how he could approach you next time.

Seong Taehoon x Reader: Military Service

Final chapter spoiler! G/N. Fluff.

Your presence slips into stories with other troops. Places you visited together, things you both experienced, time spent side by side.

"Did you used to hang out at the arcade on your own?" A fellow soldier asks Taehoon.

Taehoon thinks of your face lit up in the artificial glow, his battle victories and KO reflected in your eyes. He responds to the question with a shrug.

It used to be true, after Do Woon, then it wasn't true at all once he met you.

"Are you stupid? Of course Haeundae beach is the best!" A voice pipes up amidst the mess hall chatter.

"Boring." Someone else dismisses, "Everyone always goes there. Overcrowded."

Overcrowded.

That's one way to put Taehoon's time with you and the Yoo Hobin Company at Daecheon beach, another well known tourist spot.

He spent most of the time annoyed on the train journey, irritated on the sand, shoulder barging people on the pier, and growling at men ogling you for too long.

But then you two ended up drinking on the pier alone that night; you swaying from drinking too much and Taehoon stone cold sober-

"You're really bad tempered you know," you narrow your eyes at Taehoon, who whips his head round at your slurred speech and scowls, "and your personality is definitely something. You're abrasive and mean and hotheaded."

Taehoon’s eyebrows shoot into his hairline at this unprovoked attack.

"How you have any friends I don't even know. It's like people are attracted to you being an asshole. I suppose I can't talk." You tap your chin, deep in thought and oblivious to how much he looks on the brink of storming off, "Though... I guess you're sweet in your own way. You're cute too. Especially when you pout. I don't pout!" You taunt, in a tone eerily similar to his and you cackle at your own hilarious impression.

Taehoon subtly stops his bottom lip jutting out.

"And you look after me. Even if you also deny that." You direct a drunken grin his way, and don't notice that he doesn't look mad anymore. You didn't even realise he was mad in the first place. "Your disrespect for my personal space is sometimes infuriating too but often hot." You take a swig of your beer muttering, "I don't know why I'm telling you this."

Taehoon smirks, leaning into your space, holding your chin between his thumb and forefinger, and tilting you up to face him.

"Hot, huh?"

"Asshole," you breathe. You don't know whether the rush of blood to your cheeks is a result of the alcohol or something else.

Taehoon arches an eyebrow, incredulous at your audacity. "I'm the asshole? After everything you just said? You want me to beat you up?"

You huff, looking anywhere but him. "I don't really think you're an asshole. Most of the time. I think I just... I really like you."

You had your first kiss that night.

You always tell everyone you don't know who kissed who, and Taehoon is surprisingly gentlemanly enough not to say.

But you remember leaning in first, feeling his gasp-turned-chuckle-turned-sigh on your lips.

His lungs are on fire, heart thumping in his ears, sweat dripping down his face

Put through his paces with an 80lb pack on his back, paying for his cocky attitude in the first month to his superiors.

He feels their eyes, impressed though lips curled, as he finishes the 6am drills first yet again.

"Shit!" Taehoon turns to see a private finishing behind him, a good minute slower, before dropping to all fours and dry heaving.

"H-How the fuck are you so fast? Who did you train with?"

Technically his dad. Taehoon gives his answer, clipped and curt.

What he doesn't mention is you sitting in the dojo all those evenings and nights and early mornings too. In the corner on your laptop, surrounded by books, half falling asleep. Or simply - watching.

What he also doesn't mention, nor has he ever confessed, is that your presence spurs him on to work harder, kick harder, punch harder.

If just for the way your face lights up, mouth forming an 'o', the occasional applause when he's been particularly impressive.

He calls you cringe every time.

Yet he has never mentioned how his chest puffs with pride at your praise, but he thinks it may have been obvious anyway.

Taehoon spots you, back to him, gently swaying to the music on your own. No doubt eyes on Rumi and Wangguk’s first dance as husband and wife, like everyone else.

Your hair looks longer, though of course it is. It's been months.

Self consciousness creeps in. Taehoon wonders if you mind that he hasn't had time to change, his bomber jackets untouched for so long. He wonders if you will like his hair, short and natural, military standard.

Most of all-

If you will still feel the same. After all, young love is fickle, flighty, fleeting.

He swallows down his nervousness and ignores the fluttering in his stomach.

You feel an arm curling round your waist. The weight of the hand and the heat of the embrace you've dreamt about for nights on end.

"I've been waiting for you," you whisper.

Taehoon kisses you. It feels like the first time, on the sun bleached pier, all those years ago.

Except, he leans in first.

The softness of your lips just as he remembers, and tonight, he feels your pleased sigh ghosting his skin.

“I can't escape the bullies even here.” He says with a crying voice.

Y/N doesn't say anything for a couple moments. Just letting their hand on his arm to give him a reassuring touch.

Rage and sadness are the only things flowing in Y/N's mind at the moment.

Is hard to see their little brother like this.

After some minutes of silence they finally speak.

“I needed your help with something…” Y/N says taking the paper flier from a pocket. “But I think that this can be of help to you as well.”

The next day both of them were in front of the dojo listed on the flier.

“How exactly did you find this place?” The brother asked, still with some light bruises on his face.

“My platonic future husband gave me a flier.” Y/N says regretting right after.

Leon gives them a teasing smile prepared to say something but it's interrupted by the door of the dojo opening suddenly.

A young guy, probably around the same age as Y/N, stands there with his arms crossed over his chest. He is very tall.

No one says anything, the three just keep looking at each other uncomfortably.

“We are here for the Taekwondo lessons.” Leon says side eyeing Y/N.

The guy grunts walking to the side for them to enter the dojo, when he first appeared he looked annoyed but now he had a small smile that he quickly hid.

He says that he will call his father and goes to another room.

When he disappears, Leon turns to Y/N wiggling his eyebrows in a teasing manner.

“What?” Y/N asks him confused.

“You said that you wanted my help right?” He says giggling. “I will help you. Alright.”

“What?” Y/N says again, now even more confused.

They hear footsteps and the guy comes back with his father.

“You two are interested in the lessons?” The man asks with happiness in his voice to have new students in this hard times.

“No, sorry. Only my brother.” Y/N says smiling back to the man.

“He can go with Taehoon then.” The man points to the brown haired guy. “He can do some warm ups while you sign the papers with me.” He continues.

Y/N watches as Leon gives a wink to them before going with Taehoon. He tells the younger boy that there are some spare clothing that he can wear and with that Leon walks to the back room to change, but not before giving another wink to Y/N. This boy is weird, they think.

After talking for a bit and signing some papers, Hansu Seong, who finally introduced his name, assured Y/N that there is no rush to pay yet.

He said that it is better to wait for a week to see if the brother would actually enjoy the lessons and want to be here for more times.

Hansu is a very gentle man. Y/N thought.

He excuses himself and goes inside to another room leaving Y/N there watching their brother do some awkward stretching.

The boy never did any kind of exercise before. Maybe this can actually be good for him.

It 's night. Y/N was sitting on the floor of Leon's room. He was happily showing some cool kicks that Taehoon taught him today. Y/N smiles at their brother.

“Just don't start thinking that you can go kicking your bullies now, okay?”

“I know.” Leon says trying to do some of the kicks he saw Taehoon do. “Master Seong said I still have a lot of lessons to learn before I can break other people's ribs with a kick.”

The boy was really excited about Taekwondo.

“Master Seong?” Y/N asks in disbelief. “He said what?”

You're losing me [Seong Taehoon, angst]

Synopsis: Taehoon lied about not getting into fights again, to you, and he comes back, being almost dead, and called you to come over.

I bring the first aid kit to the living room.

The house is silent. There's no one except Taehoon and me. It's late, and I should have been home since an hour ago. But here, I am, bandaging his wounds because he called me to come over.

I peeled off one by one, torn clothes' fabric that he used to close the wounds temporarily. Dried blood and wet blood mixed, making the fabrics wet along with sweat. I wiped each one of the wounds with antiseptic, careful not to hurt.

"Ack! Do it slowly!"

"This gonna hurt, y'know. Be still." I said, not even staring at him.

After I carefully cleaned all the wounds, I wrap almost half of his upper body with gauzes in several layers. Little scratches with bandages, all done. I picked all of the things I used before, tidying up all the mess, and stood up. But Taehoon grabbed my hand, tried to stop me.

"Hey. Can we talk for a minute?"

"What?"

"Look. I'm sorry, I lied."

"You're not even sorry, Taehoon. Why? Why do you kept lying? Have you ever trust me?"

"I just don' want ya worried, y'know."

"You don't want me worried, but you always come home for being almost dead. So many occasions yet you learnt none. I don't expect a sorry from a person that never feels sorry for their partner." I clenched my fists, yanking my hand back from his strong grips.

Taehoon covers his face with his hands, slowly carding and grabbing his own hair, seemingly frustated. "If I do things the way you wanted me to be, will you stay? We can start over. Don't leave!" Taehoon's voice raised a little by the end of his words, reaching a pitch I never heard before. Maybe he's about to cry, but whatever.

My mind races by almost every memory that I had with him. A year sure feels short, especially with him. Recently, prior and during their so-called mission of catching Lee Jinho, he got really distant. And it's not that I know something was up, he was just saying that he trains a lot to perfecting his moves. Silly me, believing all of the lies.

All the chats left unreplied, late dates, missing calls, etc. And one night, when we were about to go on dates, he called me and asked me to postpone the date because he felt kind of funny and not in the mood for going on a date. Funny for me, I can hear the faint sounds of the taekwondo car he and his friends usually use to go for missions, and Hobin's voice who was talking to someone else in the car. I said yes, and hang up the call. Best believe, Taehoon didn't even think I would knew it was all lies.

I'm trying my best to hold my tears. My voice started to crack, and suddenly breathing is so hard. The air is thick with loss and indecision. All the pain that I felt was all just an imposition. It's a burden. He didn't felt sorry for it, he felt exasperated for it.

"If we had to start over to feel okay, I guess maybe we weren't meant to be. This is final, Taehoon. I learnt my lesson, you don't. Hope you find someone that.. understands you, better than me. Sorry."

I can feel his gaze on my back. Walking out the door, I inhale the cold air the night serves for me. This might feel rough for days ahead, but I'll be okay. I'll be alright.

I close the metal fence behind me, and stared at the crescent moon. So pretty, yet alone. I hope the moon knew, they got a company tonight.

he doesnt really pay much attention to people unless you're a) someone who he is interested in/someone he really cares about, b) you're hobin, or c) you're his s/o. hes very observant when it comes to those he really like

so when he sees you looking like you're physically there with him but mentally not, he will go all up in your personal space, maybe even sandwiching your cheeks in his palms and squeezing so you look like you're pouting and he leans in close so your face is inches from him and asks you what's the problem

even if you try to escape from him, you wont be able to. so better to just confess whats on your mind

when you do confess though… uh… hate to break it to you but taehoon will probably say something like “whats the point of worrying etc etc” and will end up dismissing your worries and invalidating your feelings BUT!!! HEAR ME OUT (READER PLS DONT LEAVE YET)

when he notices that you still looked worried from time to time, taehun will wonder why. he will probably look at you from a distance, brows furrowed and all, as he is lost in thought.

will probably think its something only women understands but this wont stop him (because even if he wont admit it, he will go through hell for you) so he (in a very tsun tsun taehun manner) will ask for rumi and gaeul’s help.

rumi will 10/10 make fun of him for it and gaeul will 100% guilt trip him

i can imagine the whole hobin yoo company suddenly finding out and ganging up on him lol

“taehun, you meanie!”

“I might have to charge you for this love advice.”

“what if y/n finds someone nicer? what are you gonna do?!?”

cue taehoon getting cold sweat.

he is about to loose his patience but he holds to the grain of patience he has left. will go through it if it means being a better bf for you

also asked his dad for help (which he realised he should've done first instead of being tormented by those “gremlins”)

so when he finally gets answers from everyone, he is going to be slightly nervous because now he knows where he messed up and that means he has to apologize.... 🥶 taehun isn't really the kind of person who does that so easily but for you, hes gonna swallow his pride

i feel like he is dying inside at this point lmao. (actually getting help from the girls already killed him) and the fact that hobin had the audacity to be so cocky with giving advice when hes a total noob at romance (a/n: 😎💔)

he sees you in the balcony, looks over his shoulder to give the others who not so stealthily tried to eavesdrop, a glare so they all scrammed. (they wanted to hear him apologize)

will apologise without looking at you in the eye. (he's still guilty about hurting you and emotionally constipated atm)

tells you this time, he will really listen

he's blushing and all aaaakdkdkd

when you tell him it's all good, he will flick your forehead and tell you to not be afraid to tell him if he makes mistakes or if he does something that hurts you

i feel like after all that, you will be more comfortable ranting to taehun or sharing your thoughts to him in general

he finds it really cute when you verbally list down the things you're worried about (because to him everything you do is cute). but he is also taking you seriously!

will listen attentively / will try not to get distracted

whenever you talk too fast, he will probably squish your cheeks with his hands (again) and tell you to speak slowly.

overall, please give him hugs and show him your appreciation!! he deserves it 🫶
