something i saw once that has stuck with me ever since was a comment on a post about some scientific discovery made by the mars rover perseverance that said "why are we wasting time looking at rocks when we should be preparing for colonization?

another comment was on a post about the environmental issues surrounding the spacex launch site in southern texas, which said "human expansion to mars delayed to protect some turtles"

and comments like these perplexed me. space is a subject of science, and people interested in space are always talking about the wonders of the unknown, and how many fascinating and beautiful things are out there. so how could people interested in space be so fundamentally uncaring and incurious not only about the places they're supposedly interested in, but about nature in general?

it's not just random people in twitter replies who are like this. elon musk once posted this picture:

thing is, that's not mars, that's the moon during a lunar eclipse (when sunlight tinted red after passing through earth's atmosphere lights up the moon in earth's shadow). you'd think that someone known for wanting to bring people, himself included, to mars would care enough about mars to at least know what it looks like, but apparently not

he also rather infamously says he wants to nuke the ice caps of mars to warm the planet up. the ice caps of mars look like this, by the way (image credit: ESA/DLR/FU Berlin/Aster Cowart):

they are beautiful places, that hold an irreplaceable scientific record of the geologically recent martian climate, and are shaped by unique processes. there's no other place quite like them in our solar system. but elon musk thinks we should nuke them. again, no care, no curiosity

nothing has made me feel jaded and cynical about the entire enterprise of spaceflight quite like learning that the people ultimately in charge of it and funding it don't give a shit about space. it's not just elon musk. space nerds love quoting kennedy's "we choose to go the moon" speech as inspiration, but kennedy is also on record saying "I'm not that interested in space" in a conversation where he was arguing to the nasa administrator that they should prioritize beating the soviets to the moon over space science. no curiosity, only a desire for geopolitical showmanship and maintaining hegemony. it's the same thing when many modern politicians only seem to care about space exploration as a way of keeping a technological lead over china

this leaves the people who do genuinely love and care about space in an awkward position. they basically have two choices: A) become jaded and give up on space exploration, or at least parts of it (abandoning human spaceflight but maintaining interest in robotic science missions, for example) or B) give in. work with military contractors. spout the jingoistic rhetoric that the politicians writing the checks want to hear, even if you don't believe it. go along with the colonialist ideology, the hypercapitalism, and the extractivism. sell your soul for pictures of mars and let your passions be exploited for the ends of powerful people who don't care

the sad reality is that our society only values those things deemed useful or profitable. we hear it all the time. the idea that schools should only teach things useful for jobs, that people who try to make a living in fields like art, the humanities, or philosophy are all getting useless degrees and will inevitably end up stuck working retail, and of course, the idea that space exploration is a waste of time and money

space nerds are often deeply insecure about their greatest passion, because it's true, space exploration offers no immediate practical benefit. but they still love space and want to explore it

so they believe the lies. they repeat the colonialist ideology. they say there's money in mining asteroids, that we can terraform planets and let number go up forever. they let themselves be exploited by companies and governments that see everything in the universe and all the people in it as things to be used, and that will ultimately chew them up and spit them out if it's expedient to do so. and those who reject the ideology and keep their love for the cosmos pure often find themselves with no place in the project of space exploration

i don't know how to fix this, but i do hope that i will live to see the day when our curiosity and interest and love for the wider universe is valued for its own sake, and no longer shackled by colonialism, capitalism, and political ambitions

How do you interpret Durgetash with Wren and Gortash? I'd love to see more about their dinamic!

HI HELLO THANK YOU FOR THE ASK EVEN THOUGH I AM A MILLION YEARS LATE TO ANSWERING IT!! I wanted to do more art for this but alas, I have been so busy and in my free time I’ve been working on writing and cosplay stuff instead!!

BUT!! WITHOUT FURTHER ADO!! Allow me to give some info on my personal version of Durgetash aka Wrentash or Wrenver.

Some of this is kinddddaaa subject to change since I haven’t finished Wren’s playthrough yet and haven’t decided 100% what his fate is gonna be hehehe.

To me they’re both such emotionally stunted idiots who fall deeply and grossly in love. Both finally finding someone else worthy of admiration and who matches their ambition. Someone to perhaps be an equal at last.

Ughhhhh I just love the Blasphemy of Durgetash, it's delicious.

Wren definitely feels A LOT of weakness and guilt as well as confusion when he starts to catch feelings for Gortash.

He’s definitely never felt this way about another person before. Just never saw the need to tbh. Never desired to. But with Gortash something clicked intellectually and physically.

I see them having some interesting build up, both trying to make sorts of things in their heads and if this is a bad idea. But they’re both so drawn to each other. They’re fated. (Sometimes I like to say fated to die together in every universe to make myself extra sad)

Pre-tadpole Wren is a little less deadpan and a little more freaky and fiendish tbh, BUT he definitely does not handle having romantic feelings normally.

Anyways he doesn’t kill him and lets his feelings torment him.

I think Wren never realized how touch starved he was until Gortash?? Like I never imagined physical touch to be one of his love languages but uhhhh it might actually be lol.

I always imagined Gortash being casually touchy with him at a random moment. Like a hand on his shoulder?? Or hands accidentally brushing together?? And this just HITS Wren. He feels a little feral. And I think they keep having moments like this. Gortash of course catches on. They keep pushing each other's boundaries and what not. Very back and forth, very playful, but still dramatic like a dance.

Constantly finding excuses to spend more and more time in each other's company. 

But I can definitely see them squabbling a lot and play fighting. 💕

And one day it just escalates into something more intimate,,,,,,

Lots of pent up feelings and ferality.

And I think something just SHIFTS and they really become something to each other. Not necessarily labeled but it’s SOMETHING and it's strong.

As I mentioned, Gortash makes Wren realize how touch starved he is so in time I think he becomes REALLY CLINGY with him. Wren is more of a physical being who prefers actions to words so I think he’d be all over him when they get to that point lol.

They both have their respective plans prioritized of course but they just can’t resist each other?? They fill some void for each other that neither knew they had and I think that’s why they become so attached at the hip.

Wren will?? Listen?? And somewhat behave for pretty much only Gortash??

Wren really likes to bite and claw and mark and I think most Durgetash shippers agree that Gortash would be into that. 🖤

 ANYWAYS I know this is getting long but I do have a few other quick tidbits about them.

I know they’re “serious baddies” and what not but I think they have many moments of just being silly and cringe and playful with each other?? To an extent?? Healing inner child vibes.

Gortash gifted Wren the dagger earrings that he wears.

Even tho they are very close, Wren still fantasizes about killing Gortash lol. Just Durge things. <3

TADPOLE WREN IS A BIT DIFFERENT. I’m still playing Act 3 so I haven’t decided how everything is handled. Wren obviously doesn’t remember him. :’) BUT he has this weird connected feeling to him still ever since Gortash’s name was first mentioned. He collects every note, letter, and book that contains Gortash’s name because reading the name makes him feel weirdly closer to remembering something. No joke, he steals every poster of him in the city as well (I can’t believe those things weigh more than a pound each!! My little twink does NOT have the strength stat to carry around much more LOL).

Upon meeting him again, Wren still does feel an inexplicable connection to him but also wants to hear him out because Gortash is the only one who allegedly remembers him but is genuinely not meeting him with immediate animosity?? And like, is actually giving him some slight answers about his past?? While everyone else just seems to want to confuse him or kill him. And he’s a bit of a control freak so he’s desperate to learn about his past and clings to anyone who can help him with this.

ANYWAYS THAT'S ENOUGH OUT OF ME FOR NOW!! Only time will tell what else I decide to write for these two but these are the basics~ They’re grossly and chaotically in complicated love.🖤

WujiWatch: CQL Rewatch Episode 10

 Two things stand out to me in this episode: the question of conflict between the sects, and the question of the pros and cons of being outside the system.

So, first, conflict between the sects. It’s interesting, for a long time I assumed that serious conflicts—like, deadly armed conflict—between the sects was rare. In fact, I assumed that the last sect war was the war against Xue Chonghai (which occurred “thousands of years ago” according to Nie Mingjue, “hundreds of years ago” according to Lan Yi, and “a hundred years ago” according to Lan Xichen—amazing), and that since that time, the cultivation world has basically been at peace. Cultivators’ martial training was for fighting yao, mo, guai, and gui, and also taking down individual baddie cultivators, not for making war against large, organized groups of other cultivators.

But then, in this episode, when Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan are asked to help our heroes with their quest, they refuse on the ground that they don’t get involved in inter-sect conflicts. Not “we don’t want to get involved with this inter-sect conflict,” but “as a practice, we do not get involved with inter-sect conflicts ever,” which sure seems to imply that there have been others, in their lifetimes. Like, for abstaining to be a practice, there needs to be something to abstain from, you know?

And as I’m pondering this, the camera cuts to the first shot of the Unclean Realm, and my question is very definitively answered for me—because nobody builds fucking twenty-foot high stone walls with ramparts and a fucking portcullis because they’re scared of individual demons or ghosts, or even scared of a small group of the cultivational equivalent of bandits. You only build a fortress if you’re scared of an army.

(When you start seeing the sets this way, you realize that Cloud Recesses (at the top of a mountain accessible only by one narrow staircase), Jinlintai (another stone fortress accessible only by a staircase), and Nightless City (ditto, at the top of a mountain) are also all built to withstand a siege. Only Lotus Pier, wide-open and unfortified, is vulnerable. Easy pickings.)

This is important because I’d previously been pretty judgy about Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan refusing to be involved in dealing with the Yin Iron – I’d thought, “Sure, you don’t want to get involved in petty squabbling—but this is a big deal! Wen Ruohan is kidnapping random cultivators and turning them into zombies! How can you say you’re devoting your life to justice and then sit this one out?” But their decision makes a lot more sense if the sects are frequently at war with one another – this would, at this point in the plot, just look like more of the same. And I, too, would find it exhausting constantly getting asked to pick a side in bullshit wars waged by people more interested in acquiring power than using it to protect the people who they’re supposed to be protecting.

Okay, second thing: the idea of rogue cultivators. One of the interesting things about the drama introducing Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan this early is that it sets up this theme of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji both yearning for that kind of free, roving life, and in fact, bonding over that shared longing. Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan sure make that life look very attractive. (Not just because they’re gorgeous, but that helps!) Prioritizing shared principles over bloodlines, going where the greatest need is, opting out of petty, grasping sect power struggles—it makes total sense that our heroes would go starry-eyed like they’re meeting celebrities; that Wei Wuxian would earnestly and awkwardly tell Xiao Xingchen that he and Lan Wangji have been trying to do the same thing with their Yin Iron quest; that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji gaze longingly after Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan’s departing forms and then share a wistful look with each other.

But the price of that life, as the drama shows—also using Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan—is how powerless it makes you. Xue Yang’s capture would not have been possible without sect cultivator Wei Wuxian tethering him to keep him from running away. More importantly, only sect cultivators have a prison in which they can keep Xue Yang – if the sect boys hadn’t come along, Xiao Xingchen would have had no choice to either kill Xue Yang immediately—something that characters in this show are shockingly (to this Western viewer) loathe to do—or let him go. Xiao Xingchen tells our heroes that they can call on him if they are in need… but when Lan Wangji, practical boy that he is, asks how they can get in touch with him, Xiao Xingchen’s answer is basically, “You can’t,” because he doesn’t have a home base. So it’s a pretty empty promise. The vast and manifest injustices that will soon unfold in this story—from the Wens’ massacre of several entire sects (the very crime for which Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan sought to bring Xue Yang to justice) to the post-Sunshot torture, imprisonment, and murder of the Wen Remnants—will do so without a peep from these two righteous cultivators. The sects have corruption, and war, and hypocrisy—but they also have infrastructure, resources, and networks.

Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan show what happens when someone makes a principled decision to opt out of those resources and networks.

Meng Yao is about to show what happens when someone has those things stripped from him, against his will.

Hi :) How are you? (This is going to be a lengthy ask lol)

You mentioned in one of your posts that you would like to see the relationship between the senshi and the normal everyday people and perhaps the humans turning against the Senshi.

What do you think about the enemy working with the human government to take down the Senshi to fulfill their goal of forming their empire or whatever and what your headcanon might predict of how it's all going to go down?

I wish the SM franchise would explore more with the outsiders perspective and relationship between the senshi's.

Hi! Sorry you've prob waited a while for this one, my bad.

But yeah, I've mentioned before that the public has an active and rocky relationship with the senshi.

It's a very mixed bag! But overall, to grossly generalize, most younger people are in favor of them and idolize them, while older people and parents tend to scrutinize and antagonise them.

They are unknown beings, who just pop in out of nowhere and at best cause property damage and at worst, well cause some casualties (in my hc, sometimes they fail and people die, it's unfortunate, but it's a reality they have to live with).

Say you're a parent your child turned into an otherworldly creature, a group of 'defenders' shows up and leads you away while promising you they'll try their best to save your child. Next thing you know, one of them walks to you with simply a bag of dust in their hands and a devastated expression, but no words spoken, and they leave.

This is what I see a few people experienced, parents, friends, siblings.. they can't really see past their own grief to understand that these saviors aren't just perfect immortal beings who can just decided who gets to live and who doesn't. They're human, like them, but not quite.

On the other hand, I see people adoring and respecting them, on the more superficial side cause they are superheroes and why wouldn't you idolize a person with super powers, furthermore on the more emotional side, people have been saved or have had other people saved by them. They're grateful and compassionate.

I can totally understand both sides, at the end of the day, people are scared of the unknown, you can't totally blame them for not trusting the senshi, no matter how many justice speeches they deliver.

Going more into the lore aspect, I don't really see the government working with the enemy, it's a neat idea, but I wouldn't really fit in my narrative.

I was thinking more along the lines of a subtle influence by the enemy. Pushing the public to hate the senshi more and more, to the point that they can't even show up by themselves without risking getting attacked by mobs for people.

After a particular deadly explosion, the public perception of them has hit an all time low, and the new enemy strives to dig that even deeper and deeper.

It starts with news articles after rumors and interviews, all these factors fueling a never-ending machine of paranoia. The senshi show up on missions like they always do, all of a sudden, stones get tossed, along with insults and threats. It gets so bad that they can't even transform without informing the others, they can't travel alone, they are just in a form of hiding, powerless to help people without putting themselves in massive danger.

Small note, but I think this situation in particular is very compelling. Seeing how differently the girls take on the issue of not being able to help the public cause the public does not want to be helped. Especially for Mina, she basically has to make the very hard decision of prioritizing the safety of her girls over the safety of innocent people and this could cause a lot of super interesting clashes within the group.

Going even further, it gets worse and now random girls start getting attacked and so forth. You kind of see what I'm getting at. This is the plot of one fo the seasons in my narrative.

It's not really government vs senshi, but the actual public is against them. I think it's very interesting, but I'm still very much in writing limbo, so that's how far I'll say about

Time to screech about Sonic Prime S3E1

Alrighty. Having taken a while to screech about the first episode to myself...now I’m gonna screech about it here LOL I’ve got a LOT I could say about it, soooo here goes. Enjoy my random musings and mostly just me reiterating what happened in the episode lmao

Starting off with Nine. He says that the Grim could have been everything Sonic ever wanted. He and Sonic have the tendency to talk past each other in a way, and they were both inadvertantly using each other. Neither is entirely in the right OR wrong here (which I will absolutely go into more depth about).

Gotta take a second to talk about the fortress Nine creates. I absolutely love the symbolism of it (well, what I’m choosing to take as symbolism, anyhoo). He could very easily have just created a simple lab for himself, like he used to have (and like Tails had), but he didn’t. He created a giant, elaborate fortress. Why? Well, for the obvious reason of “someone might come after me, I need protection”, but I like to think there’s more than that. It’s about power (this will also get brought up again). Nine is more than capable of protecting himself, which is how he has managed to survive for so long on his own. But now? It’s not just about protecting himself. It’s about showing that he can protect himself. It’s a physical manifestation of everything he has had to hold inside for his entire life. All of the mental strength he has, all for the world (or lack thereof, as the case may be) to see. He doesn’t have to hide anymore, and he wants everyone to know.

Then we switch over to the two hedgies, and oh boy is there a lot to talk about here.

It hurts seeing Sonic so lost and confused as to why Nine would have left, “betraying” him in the process. Seeing it from Sonic’s point of view, he doesn’t understand why Nine would want to leave behind what he believed would be the perfect chance to make everything right. Despite being told all the way back in season 1 that Nine wanted to start “our new life” over in the Grim, Sonic failed to see how much the idea of them staying together meant to Nine, as just the two of them. He doesn’t see how much he hurt Nine by not seeing him as his own person. No matter how much he tried to deny it, he was somewhat using Nine as a stand-in for Tails. Do I believe Sonic was being malicious and purposefully stringing Nine along? No. Of course not. That’s not in Sonic’s nature. He was just desperate to have his friends back, and failed to realize how much his words and actions were hurting Nine. Which of course is still wrong and something he needs to realize and understand.

And then there’s Shadow. While many people headcanoned that Shadow would just up and punch Sonic the moment he stepped foot inside the cave, I was pleasantly surprised that he did not. Granted, it was because their lives were literally on the line, but still. Shadow took one moment to say “I toldya so”, and left it at that, prioritizing their escape. He didn’t constantly berate Sonic as they were running, either. The insane amount of character growth that shows just makes me so happy.

And can we just talk about the escape scene? (both parts LOL but in due time). The way they both looked out for each other as they ran, and the fact that Shadow risked falling behind to make sure that Sonic made it to the ground safely??? I just...golly I can’t screech about that enough. (Also this brief frame of Shadow going from being on guard to being annoyed about Sonic’s rough landing is absolutely hilarious and it will live rent-free in my head...forever.)

The ghost scene. Shadow doesn’t berate Sonic for stopping, he’s calm and even tries to reach out to Sonic.

He understands how much it hurts Sonic to see the illusions, a major turnaround from how he acted in season 2 (granted, Shadow had more time to come to terms with the ghosts, seeing as how he had been in and out of Ghost Hill before, but I digress.). He does try to get Sonic to move on, but in the end gives him his chance to grieve and reflect, which Sonic has not had a chance to properly do this entire time. I love how caring Shadow is in this moment. (Also SEGA LET SHADOW SAY “OUR FRIENDS” YOU COWARDS! ROUGE IS SHADOW’S FRIEND, DAMNIT).

And Sonic. How he had gone from hopeful in season 2 that he could save them because he had all the shards, to now being emotionally scarred by the idea of not being able to fix it if they can’t get the shards back from Nine...and watching literal manifestations of specters of your friends being drawn into oblivion...damn it hurts. But I’m glad he was able to snap out of it enough to follow Shadow out.

Escape pt 2: Hedgie Boogaloo. These two are so in sync, they barely have to exchange any words at all, they know exactly what the other is going to be doing, and I love it. I mean, look at this.

Shadow reaching out his hand and Sonic instinctually grabbing it to pull each other forward? Hell yeah!!! And here, all it takes is one glance and they both had the same exact plan. I cannot get over how much I love seeing Sonic and Shadow work together like this.

Nine making his own Metal Sonic. This means soooo much. Nine feels like Sonic betrayed him, but he can’t bring himself to entirely give up the idea of having Sonic by his side. The solution? Create a robotic version, of course. But also, the tiny bit of malicious tone when Nine says “Hello...friend” just gave me the shivers, I love it.

“If there’s anything knowing you has taught me, it’s that there’s always another way”. This line made me screech out loud, I love it so much. Shadow being willing to admit that Sonic not only taught him something, but that Sonic taught him to think outside the box, that things could have more than one solution, that there’s no such thing as giving up. I was grinning like an idiot at this, because yay character development!!!

(ALSO fduoghdfoighdf my grumpy baby being annoyed I can’t oh my golly look how adorable gahhhhh)

ALSO THEY BOTH GET TO ENTER ANOTHER SHATTERSPACE TOGETHER WOOOHOOO!!!!

It was all about power (remember that earlier? XD). In a way, Shadow knows what Nine is feeling. Feeling like the entire world has betrayed you, and having the chance to get back at them? Sound familiar? Granted they went about it two different ways (Shadow trying to destroy everything vs Nine trying to literally create a new world, to an extent), but they both went off the deep end when offered a chance at an ultimate power. Neither one cared what was happening around them, all that mattered was that they got what they wanted. But of course Shadow won’t admit to seeing himself in Nine’s actions, instead opting to just be like “OK yeah this kid is a menace, gotta destroy him”. Do I wish Shadow would be more willing to give Nine a chance? Absolutely. Is he going to? Probably not, that’s more Sonic’s shtick.

Was Sonic in the wrong for wanting to get his friends back? Nope, not in the slightest. That’s what he wanted all along. He spent so long trying to do that, after all. Was he wrong in seeing Nine as a stand-in for Tails? Absolutely. Again, he may not see it that way, but both his actions and words make it clear that he at the very least had a hard time seeing Nine as his own person. Even now, with the words “this isn’t you, Nine”, shows that Sonic doesn’t truly know Nine, because yes, this is Nine. Has been from the very beginning. A broken, distrustful, lost child who just wants a home and safety, friends or no friends.

As for Nine? Was he wrong for wanting safety and a home? Of course not. Everybody deserves safety and a home. Is he wrong for not caring what happens to New Yoke? Ehh...thin ice there. Wrong for not caring what happens to any Shatterspace? Yeah, there the line is crossed. At least in Ghost Hill there wasn’t any living beings (sure, the ghosts/illusions were there, but keyword there is living), but what about the others? Nine could end up having the lives of entire universes on his hands, even his own if he’s not careful.

Grim Sonic. And the fight against Grim Sonic. Have I ever mentioned how much I love seeing these two work in sync? Just that one little nod, and off they both go. It’s such a treat to see, and I will never stop loving it.

(Also Nine just casually making a robotic copy of Birdie is hilarious to me. Like, “Yeah, I made copies of Sonic’s friends, but also the bird is cool, so I just copied her too ‘cause why not?”)

“At least I can trust them!”. Nine is willing to spend his entire life with just robots for friends, and why? Because he can program them however he wants, to be whoever he wants. Nine is eerily similar to the original Eggman in that regard. He’s done with dealing with people, because people are inferior and betray you. Robots can be reprogrammed if anything goes wrong (Sonic Heroes, anyone?). Part of me is curious to see just how close to Eggman that Nine will end up becoming.

Talking about rebuilding the prism. This whole scene. What takes literally the span of just a few seconds, says so much, without even using a single word. Sure, Nine said he would need one missing thing, but after that? It’s all spoken through body language. Nine looks down to Sonic’s hands and shoes. It’s subtle, but he’s trying to show Sonic what he means.

Of course, Sonic doesn’t figure it out, he doesn’t see where Nine is looking. but you know who does? That’s right. Shadow. His face says it all. He doesn’t even have to say “I know what you’re up to”, it’s entirely unspoken, and I love that.

And Nine? He responds in kind. Look at this.

It’s a challenge. “Oh, you think you have me figured out? Then try to stop me”. Again, no words need to be said. He’s calm, confident, smug even. He thinks he has Sonic and Shadow right where he wants them. He doesn’t see any way that they’ll win, and he, again, wants them to know it.

But he didn’t account for how ready Shadow is for war.

Being entirely willing to take on all the Grim robots in order to keep Sonic safe? Sure, it’s for the good of the entire universe, but also because as much as he doesn’t say it, he cares. I mean, listen to what he says as he’s carrying Sonic away. He doesn’t say “This is to save the universe” or “we’re all dead if he catches you”, he says “this is for your own good”. Someone who doesn’t care wouldn’t say that. He’s getting so much good characterization in just this one episode alone, and I hope it keeps up, even if he ends up being seen in small amounts (I swear if he only appears in the finale I will cry).

Aaaand yeah. That’s the end of the episode. I honestly can’t wait to see what happens when the rest of the season drops. I am soooo not ready for it to end, but I’m excited to see how it ends.

So many of y'all didn't think you'd like it based on the trope alone but I'm surprised that you guys did enjoy it anyway! Makes me smile.

So, I'm almost done with part 4. I think I can have it out by Thursday? Maybe? I'm super busy today (well, busy for me LOL) and gonna try to write but I've also got something I'm working on that someone paid me to write so I'm prioritizing that. Thursday at the earliest I'll post part 4 but I'll let y'all know.

And the random capitalization? My phone does the same. 😂 The words can't, can, and don't often get capitalized in the middle of sentences and it's a crapshoot on when the beginning of a sentence will be capitalized or not. I need to turn it off so it just leaves everything lowercase. So no judgement from me!

Y/n was wearing her newly altered peach silk dress. The alterations were simple. The straps and hem were adjusted and the back column was dropped down a bit to drape to her low back. Her strappy nude heels were well-worn but comfortable because she was just simply not in the mood to wear the stiff, new heels she’d just bought.

The estate of Rebecca Manera was impressive. Probably equally as impressive as Leonardo Styles’. Most of the guests had already arrived by the time the Styles’ walked through the front door a little late.

Leo scolded Y/n for taking so long to get ready and making them run behind but in all honesty, she didn’t give a fuck. They could be half an hour late. No one would care. Why rush to go to a party? It’s not like they needed to clock in and earn a paycheck.

“It’s rude, Y/n. That’s why it matters. You’re so goddamn rude sometimes. You only think about yourself.”

She turned sharply to look at her husband in shock. That was the first time he’d ever said such a thing to her. Normally he had no opinion on how she conducted herself. She was chronically late. Yes, she could admit that was a flaw in her character but she was on time when it really counted. But to get so worked up over a party? And to insult her on top of it?

That had set the whole mood for the night. And now she was even more suspicious about this Rebecca.

But when Rebecca did make her appearance and introduced herself to Y/n she was taken aback. The woman had to be in her 50s. She was pretty, sure, but not quite Leo’s type. If Y/n were any sort of indicator of a type.

Servers walked around with trays and served the couples in attendance. There were only ten couples there as well as Rebecca’s two daughters, Y/n learned. Quite the intimate affair really.

Leo brought a glass of wine to Y/n as she chatted with Mrs. Topman (she never learned her first name, as the woman literally introduced herself as Mrs. Topman).

“Here you are darling.” His green eyes shined down at her before searching the room casually. She was on to Leo. But she found it odd that the woman he was with in the Hamptons was Rebecca. She was intrigued.

She watched Rebecca mingle and sip wine and laugh and there was nothing there that made Y/n think Leo would be interested in her sexually. But maybe that was it, Y/n thought to herself as she cocked her head to the side watching the woman speak boisterously. Maybe it wasn’t sexual. Maybe it was a woman he felt a deeper connection with than he did with Y/n. Perhaps it hadn’t started sexual but led there.

The snack table was set up with decadent treats. Y/n picked up a toast smeared with something pink, topped with heart-shaped tomatoes on top as she scanned the room for Leo, wondering where he’d gone off to. It hadn’t been that long but knowing about Rebecca being with him made things feel like she was in some kind of true crime detective story and was trying to get to the bottom of a mystery. Though there was no crime being committed, she could entertain herself with that thought.

“Are you enjoying your time tonight?”

Y/n turned her sight to Rebecca who was next to her picking up the same toast with pink schmear.

“It’s amazing. Your home is so lovely, Mrs. Manera,” she smiled and noted the woman’s massive diamond ring in addition to her massive diamond wedding ring.

“Why thank you. Phineas has put in so much work to make this large shell into a lovely cozy home.”

Y/n nearly spat her bite out. The home was anything but cozy.

“It’s incredible. Where is Mr. Manera tonight?”

“Oh, just over there,” she pointed to a man in tweed with thick black-framed glasses, “You haven’t met yet?”

Rebecca led the way as Y/n walked in her wake to meet Mr. Manera. She had still not spotted her own husband.

“Phineas, dear, this is Mrs. Styles. Leonardo’s wife.”

The man held his hand out, “Very nice to meet you, Mrs. Styles.”

“Likewise. You can call me Y/n.”

 “Well, Y/n. We’re happy to have you here. Where’s Leo anyway? Haven’t seen him.”

Turning around quickly to look over her shoulder she shrugged and faced the man and his wife again, “Not sure actually. I haven’t seen him in a bit myself,” she laughed. And before she could even think about what she was implying she spoke to Rebecca, “But I’m sure you’ve seen enough of him since you saw him in the Hampton’s this weekend.”

Rebecca and Phineas’ smiles dropped as they looked at one another and then back to Y/n, “I haven’t been to the Hamptons in over a decade. Are you sure you’re not mistaking me for Parker? Our daughter? She was just there all weekend with her girlfriends.”

Mmk, sweetheart. The message here is about giving too much of your time and energy towards looking for a romantic relationship. It's coming through pretty clearly but I am sensing some resistance, so I'll try to be gentle. Some of y'all may be neglecting other areas or relationships to prioritize your partner. Others are still looking for someone. The way it's being shown to me is that y'all focused on it because there's this idea that if you fall in love nothing else would matter. You'd be happy with even a rough situation if you're with someone. There's a huge fixation in media on having a romantic relationship, so there's no shame in this mentality at all. It's just not helping you, in fact, it looks like it's holding you back. With fairy-tails and romance-heavy media, we are taught from a very young age the (very heteronormative) idea that once we fall in love and get married we will live happily ever after. Which we all know isn't how life works but it can lead to this quiet belief that once we meet 'the one' everything will work out somehow. Now I'm not judging you at all, it's a common thing and we've all been there. Even if you're not actively pursuing a relationship, you may give a lot of energy to it by fantasizing about it or trying to manifest it. Love is important and you have a lot of love to give, but prioritizing romantic love over friendship love or familial love is doing yourself a disservice. There's another message for some of y'all, that you may be changing yourself to fit the ideals of your partner without realizing it and you need to set some boundaries. This message came out with the Devil card because if you picked this group it is seriously holding you back. This card is about heavy burdens and chains, not lil bad habits. It's holding you back because it's keeping you from seeing your true power. When you feel like you'd be happy if you'd meet the one it can lead to you feeling like your life is incomplete without them. You may be having trouble seeing yourself as a whole and complete person and not just as someone's love interest. Listen, sweetheart. A romantic relationship is not the whole ass cake, it's not even the icing on the cake. YOU are the whole ass cake. Your passions and shit are the icings. The Pentagram

Right out the gate, I'm hearing 'use your fucking voice'. Y'all are burying your true feelings and instincts and you need to stop. It's suffocating you. If this keeps up you will start to lose yourself (if you haven't already) But that's not the main message for y'all today. The main message is that y'all may have some internal beliefs that are killing your intuition/magic. There are three camps here: Camp One - it's like you want to pursue the esoteric but deep down you're scared of it. So, even when you try, there's a part of you fighting it. Camp Two - I'm seeing that y'all may have been taught that these things are bad or evil and while you may be trying to do magic or something a part of you still holds that belief and it warps what you're doing. And Camp Three - Y'all may partly believe that intuition/magic is illogical or silly or too good to be true. Or just that you can't have what you're wanting. That doubt is stifling any sort of practice or gift you try to work with because your energy is effectively cut in half. Now, no shame to whichever camp you belong to. Most people will find themselves in one or another at some point. Hell, I've been in all of them and still revisit Camp Three sometimes. The first step towards working through these doubts and fears is admitting that they're there and not judging yourself for them. In case no one has told you ITS OKAY TO BE SCARED AND TO WANT TO BE SAFE. Fear is important, it makes you seek out ways to protect yourself and when you have a healthy relationship with it, it works as an alarm system. YOU ARE NOT A DUMBASS FOR HAVING TO UNLEARN THE SKEWED BULLSHIT YOU WERE TAUGHT. We have all been taught something that doesn't serve us and that we need to unlearn. It doesn't make you stupid or foolish. Unlearning things, and questioning what you're told is a skill that once you learn, you will have a much easier time spotting people fear-mongering. HAVING DOUBTS IS GOOD SOMETIMES, IT MAKES YOU THINK AND FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU REALLY BELIEVE. Believe it or not, this doubt when you learn to wield it properly means that you'll probably kick ass at discerning between truth and bullshit. It's also teaching you how to move forward in the face of your doubts and once you master that, dealing with other people doubting you is a piece of fucking cake. It's okay to admit to yourself that you're scared, have an internal negative belief that you need to change or have doubts about things. IT'S OK. You don't have to go around yelling it from the rooftops but you do need to acknowledge it. Doing so isn't going to magically make those things set in stone and make it so you can never do better. The opposite actually. After all, you're not going to fix something if you never look at it and think 'hey, that's messed up and needs fixing'. We're all humans, we all need to work through things. Your guides, your practice, your intuition, they're not going to judge you for taking a minute to figure things out. No one here is either. If anyone does, they have their own shit to work through.

The Devil card can talk about things we've been taught to see as evil or taboo. Like how for some reason darkness = evil, while light = goodness. Despite the fact that dark and light are both neutral and natural. Intuition and magic are neutral, but they can be used for good or bad reasons. Fire is neutral, you can use it to warm a house or burn it down. Your choice. It is important to learn fire safety though, so you don't accidentally burn it down if you get my metaphor. Now for those struggling with doubt or seeing hoping for things as being 'illogical'. I gotta ask, you know that doubt and cynicism are just as illogical as optimism, right? Both are skewed perceptions that don't allow for other perspectives. Besides, assuming things that are unexplained or esoteric is bullshit because there is no proof, is to assume that we already know EVERYTHING. And that everything can be explained and understood through our five senses. But we already know that isn't true, there are colors that only certain animals can see that humans can't and trees that communicate through their root systems. (it's called a Mycorrhizal Network, it's super interesting) The world is a weird and awesome place. Give life some wiggle room and it may just surprise you.

This may come as a shock to y'all but living your life the way others tell you to doesn't guarantee a happy life. I don't mean to be harsh but sweetheart, this is making you miserable. If it hasn't it will. Some of y'all may only be doing this in certain areas, others are living their whole ass life for others. The energy is stifling in this reading. Living the way others say you 'should' is what leads to having a midlife crisis. Because suddenly your life is half gone and you realize none of it was really yours. I'm seeing that some of y'all are really young (I'm talking 16-27, like YOUNG) and already feel like your life is half over??? Honey, just no? Do you consider the year half over in fucking March? Because that's where you are in your life, spring has just fucking started. Don't let the ageist media get you down, babe. There's nothing wrong with you for that, that's your soul saying that it wants something else. Deep down you know you don't want what you're being told you should by parents, friends, media, teachers, bosses, and partners. Maybe you don't want to settle down and have kids. Maybe you don't want to party every weekend or are not ready to have sex. Maybe you don't want to fit beauty standards or be popular on social media. Maybe you don't want to look good on a college application or climb the proverbial ladder. Etc, etc, etc. Whatever it is that you don't want, do you really think your mind will change after forcing yourself to do it for who knows how long? Not only that, you think living this way will make others happy or proud. Sweetheart, there is no award for 'most happiness sacrificed to make others proud'. There isn't. Even if there was, would you want it? To live a life that makes you happy, you will absofuckinlutly have to go against the opinion of everyone in your life at least once. Why? Because every person in your life wants/likes certain things and you can't be all of them. The people who really care about you will understand. It may be something small like music tastes but you will, you have to. And that's okay, THAT'S GOOD. Because that's you being a full person on your own, with your own opinions and wants. It's time to make your own choices, sweetheart. Make a life that is so yours it practically has your name stamped on it. When you start making choices that are your own, your spark, that light in your eyes is going to come back. It may feel like you don't know what to do at first but the more you listen to yourself the easier that will get. Don't worry about big changes right now. You can't build a fire without a small spark, work on that spark. The fire will come in time.

1.) Pen Pals Across Time

Okay, for this one, I can't help but think about how much I really wanted to see young Nicholas Benedict (from The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict) interact with the Mysterious Benedict Society kids. I just think it would be so interesting because young Mr. Benedict, is- in a lot of ways- a mix and mesh of the kids. He's got Reynie's cleverness, Sticky's perfect memory, Constance's mind made for rhymes and whimsy, and Kate's way of hiding everything with a smile.

At the same time, though, younger Mr. Benedict has a much more negative and untrusting outlook on the world in general. In his mind, there are no good grownups, and very few good children. The way he reacts to things is to very often to prioritize his own self and his own safety over others. He keeps his narcolepsy a tightly held secret, controlling his emotions as much as possible. He's constantly looking for the other shoe to drop. It's his defense mechanism, and it's one we can see developed in Mr. Curtain too. It's just that Nicholas got a wake up call, and his twin didn't.

It would be interesting, therefore, to see him interact with kids who are, in many ways, just as brilliant and intelligent as he is, and in some ways more so. I don't know how he'd interact, but I think it would be very cool to explore. I think it would be hard for Nicholas to accept- at least the Nicholas from the beginning of the book- that he grows up to be someone who is that kind. Who is surrounded by a family who loves him. I think it would be good for him, too.

So yes. Time travel shenanigans that lead to children butting heads that lead to friendship. The fic ends with Nicholas Benedict writing letters to friends he will not meet for a very long time, but that's alright. He has time.

6.) Viral

This would be a modern AU: Four Times One of the Mysterious Benedict Sociciety went viral, and One Time They Did It All Together. I just feel like people would accidentally catch them doing weird or incredible stuff all the time - or, at least, weird by "normal" standards. The only keeping them safe is that fact that the books are set a little too early in history for cellphones and internet- so bring it forward a bit and.... well. The kids get to go viral. As a treat.

A list of reasons/ways the kids went viral:

1.) Sticky gets recorded at one of his Quiz Championship Game Show competitions. He is approximately a a third of the age of everyone there. He is looking very Baby with his polkadot bowtie and big glasses. He is absolutely DESTROYING all of his competitors. The video zooms in on his score- miles ahead of everyone else- and then the faces of the other contestants as Tiny Sticky Washington stands on his tiptoes to deliver his next answer. The faces hold nothing but despair and a certain grudging amount of respect. "Correct!" yells the announcer. One man puts his head in his hands.

2.) Constance writes poetry on a random wall with sharpie. She does not sign it, and she doesn't much think about it when she's done. Someone else comes along, sees it, laughs and takes a picture and posts it. It starts properly trending by noon.

3.) They are at a football pitch. A striker is trying to score and the ball just goes flying. It lands on top of a building with an unfortunate BUMP noise. The players have about ten seconds to be depressed before Kate- who is walking by- shouts, "Oh, I'll get it!" And then she just. Climbs the building. Free Style. And grabs the ball. Tosses it back down, follows down after it, and merely goes on her way without looking back. The person who was trying to record the goal manages to capture it on camera.

4.) Reynie writes a short story during one of Miss Perumal's tutoring sessions. It gets published online, and then it gets mentioned in a magazine, and people are reading it and enjoying it and Reynie- who doesn't go online much- is perfectly oblivious that his homework assignment is getting absurdly popular.

5.) The Mysterious Benedict Society has a new project: to make the world's longest Rube Goldberg Machine. It takes up several blocks. Mr. Benedict laughs himself to sleep three times before the machine can succeed in it's one job: Flipping a lightswitch. The video gets posted online with a funky song and people are all over it.

i’d like to share an au idea i had! i originally had this idea w another pairing in mind but piarles have multitudes and could fit very wellll. anyone who happens to see this feel free to use it…. 🥺

ok so. i go through these random short lived obsessions with so many things (it’s been 3 years with f1 so i don’t think she’s going away…) and one of those obsessions was figure skating. and i think piarles should have a figure skating au. listen. i’ve got it all planned out.

pierre is the extremely technical, jumping machine skater (think sasha trushova or something. sorry i only care about girl figure skating so idk the male equivalent). charles is the extremely artistic, spinning and twirling and whatnot over jumps, body line and angles obsessed skater (think yuna kim or kamila valieva or something). anyway. 

they have this long term rivalry of theirs going on. the olympics come around. these two are, obviously, the favorites for gold. they continue on, as the olympics approach, doing their… idk rival stuff and focusing on themselves. but then!! there’s drama. the good thing about figure skating is there’s always drama. especially if we’re trying to go sasha vs kamila type of skater because those two did have olympic drama so we can just copy them! but ofc there’s room for creative adjustments whatever anyone wants. either the conflict can be pierre (sasha) being the second fiddle to his coach’s other skater and in return his coach promises to prioritize him for the olympics but GASP! they don’t! they go back on their word! and pierre confides in charles! <3 OR! we can do charles (kamila) gets accused of doping and it becomes a huge scandal and the results take forever to come out and the media is eating him alive and he’s left in front of the media alone and overwhelmed and other skaters are being shady and mean and countries olympic committees or whoever is in charge (sorry my obsession didn’t get that far to know… details details) are trying to get him banned and he confides in pierre! (it’s obviously false, for the sake of the story and also fictional charles’ sportsman dignity) <3 or even both happen! or any sort of conflict the potential author desires. 

and somewhere along the way they carnally desire each other and kiss and have sex and somehow they both win the gold medal. maybe they can even both just be girls in this and we can get that lesbian piarles that was being spoken about on here a while ago…. yeah…

I would maybe do IVF if I wanted kids. The idea of artificial insemination grosses me out.

But I think the argument of "you're engaging with male sexuality" is fucking stupid if I'm being real. I've had the same shit said to me because I posted tits. Not everyone is constantly thinking about male arousal. Some of us are able to put that out of our minds.

And it's fine if male sexuality at any capacity bothers you, but I damn near have a post-male mind. I wouldn't even think of an embryo as being the product of male sexuality.

There are parts of anti-natalism I really get down with because I don't think it's smart to have kids. And I don't think it's smart to legally tie yourself to a male. But embryos are not products of male sexuality to women trying to have kids. That's her baby.

But a big thing about this for me, people always dig and fucking dig to find an equivalent to something wrong straight people or gay men do so they can hate on lesbians too. Straight people hire surrogates the most often, but then gay men take most of the flack for it. And then lesbians get compared to that for shit that is entirely unrelated so we can be called out too. People have to come up with reasons for why the near harmless shit a small minority of us do is just as bad as the harmful shit straight people do.

Lesbians choosing to have kids are a minority of a minority. You may never meet one in your life.

I don't know if she thinks all women are wrong for having kids, but most of these girls don't. Random lesbians are held to higher standards than straight women who claim feminism most of the time. I just don't feel like you get to say random lesbians aren't liberating women because a few have kids if you wouldn't tell your mom she hurt women by birthing you.

Also, if you're against buying a child, adoption is 10 times worse than IVF. IVF is paying to have the exact same thing a straight couple gets for free. Adoption is paying for a kid and taking them from their families, and a good bit of the time, the family doesn't want to lose them. A lot of the time, the mom doesn't even wanna lose the kid; she just either can't afford the kid or isn't in a state to care for the kid. But the extended family usually wants that kid in their life. You can go listen to people who were adopted. It traumatized them. The American adoption industry is greedy and evil. If women weren't manipulated by adoption agencies, if people weren't intentionally kept in poverty, if extended family bonds were prioritized over profit, adoption would barely be an option. I've seen adoptees call it modern day slavery. It is not something we should all be glorifying. It's better for us to not fuel that fire period.

DC Titans WIPs (November 2023)

Okay, so - I am the type of person who actually benefits from people ‘bugging’ me when it comes to my WIPs. I know a lot of authors say that they don’t like being bugged or hounded down for their work, but I am the opposite. So I have made this list of my Titans WIPs so you guys can 'bug' me into finishing some of them.

The only time this doesn’t work for me is when you’re bugging me/asking me about work from a fandom that I’m not currently working on. (aka asking me about Lessons For A Genius when I’m not currently working on Criminal Minds stuff) - but if it’s a WIP from a fandom that I am currently working on and someone is really enthusiastic about it, asking for updates, ‘bugging’ me about it, then I know that they are anticipating that work and that they look forward to me posting it, so it makes me more eager and excited to work on it, and I will actively prioritize that work over other stuff. 

So, I have made this list of my Titans WIPs. Most of these are from months ago or even years ago, and this isn’t even all my WIPs from this fandom - I have just included the works that I am most excited about and most likely to finish. Realistically, do I think every single item on this list is going to get done within the next few months? No. But I hope that I can get four or five items on this list done soon, on top of editing reposts and possibly starting new ideas. 

This is a really long list and realistically not everything is going to get done, but if you see something on this list that you think sounds cool, send me a message and bug me about it and it will definitely move up the list in terms of priority. I know a lot of these are untitled, so if you want to come into my inbox and talk about one, just send me the number of it or talk about the general concept, etc.

Completed Fics That Need To Be Edited:

First Kiss With Gar Logan - Gar Logan x Reader, Fluff, set during S2, 2k words est. - This one is described all in the title; mutual pining, mostly fluff; a short fic describing what your first kiss with Gar would be like. I know the reason I didn’t post this one! This one was intended to be part of a series called the ‘First Kiss’ series where I showed a situation of the reader (in each case, it’s a different reader character) having their first kiss with each of the Titans characters; very random and funsies, and I am probably going to continue this as a series like intended if people like this one EDIT - NOW POSTED

EDIT: now titled Miss Nectarine - Untitled Donna Smut Blurb - Donna Troy x Fem!Thick!Reader (Plus Sized Reader), Smut/PWP, set during S2 (Titans ‘return home’ era), 2k words est. - This one involves the ‘caught masturbating’ trope (one of my ult favs); Donna walks in and sees you touching yourself, and with your gorgeous curvy body revealed to her, she can’t hold back anymore. The reason I didn’t post this one is because I thought it was crappy and I was too tired to edit the issues out of it, and now that I have come back to it, I am excited about the concept and the bones of it and I am lot more excited and energetic to edit the issues out of (I feel like this could be 4k or 5k with editing because I really love the ideas behind it). I have definitely not written enough Donna smut and there needs to be more in my catalog. NOW POSTED

Great Dick, Sweet Personality - Gar Logan x Male Reader, Smut/PWP, set during S2, 3k est. - This one involves the ‘accidentally sent you my nude’ trope; you are trying on lingerie in your room for your own enjoyment and snapping pictures of yourself cause it feels good, and then you accidentally send one of them to Gar; you freak out and demand that he delete the picture, and you find out that he likes them, rather than mocking you for wearing the girly underwear, and then smutty smut (Gar is a bi king, I love writing him with a male reader) 

Main WIPs

A lot of these have a good chunk of the fic written and need to be finished, and some of them are just an outline of what the fic would be. I have put them in the order of what I am most excited about, and like I said - if you guys get really excited about something, it will be moved up the list. (Though I don’t think this list will actually be edited to reflect that, it will just be moved up the list in my mind, or put on the ‘coming soon’ section of my pinned post to reflect that I am prioritizing it.) 

Snowed In - Gar Logan x Fem!Reader x Jason Todd, Smut/Emotional Angst/Ending Fluff, set during S2 (AU version of the S2 ending), 1k words so far, 15% done so far, 10k est when finished - This is a Christmas themed fic; it will include a different ending for S2, so all the Titans are living at Titans Tower and operating out of San Francisco; however, everyone is going to different places for the holidays, and Jason, the reader, and Gar, are all dreading ‘going home’ for Christmas, so they are putting off leaving for as long as possible, and this gets them stuck in the Tower during a massive snowstorm; when the Tower’s generators run out of power, they are forced to snuggle together for warmth, and thing leads to another - threesome smut, confessions of feelings, and also, them chatting and explaining they didn’t want to leave leads to a lot of emotional catharsis; I rarely do holiday themed fics because I can never get them posted ‘on time’ but maybe I can actually do a Christmas fic this year?? 

Detective Grayson and The White Rabbit - Dick Grayson x Fem!Villain!Reader, Smut (with the barest amount of plot), technically doesn’t take place in the Titans!verse (but definitely inspired by Brenton Thwaites version of Dick), 3k words so far, 40% ish done so far, 7k est when finished - you are a famous masked villain in Gotham (a thief known as the White Rabbit) and you have an attraction to Nightwing, particularly because of his very famous ass, and one night, when you are arrested by Dick Grayson (disappointed that Nightwing didn’t show up to the ‘party’ that you set up just for him), you recognize that ass waltzing away from you, and you call out Detective Grayson; and in order to keep his secret identity a secret, you ask for one thing in return (to get fucked by the birdie vigilante that you have desired for so long). This is actually a kind of cracky idea that came up from a conversation between me and Star, and I loved it so much that I ran with it. Long live Nightwing’s royal ass 

A Knife Called Lust (The Sex Pollen Fic) - Gar Logan x Fem!Reader x Jason Todd, Angst and Smut, set during Season 3, 12k words so far, 30% done so far, it’ll probably be over 40k when it’s done (and it was originally intended to be a oneshot, but I think it would work better as a 3-shot); this one actually won a poll on my old blog, and then I girl-failed to actually get it done lmao; you are Jason’s childhood friend, and when he dies, you fall into Gar’s arms, and then the two of you find out Jason is alive (and Jason harshly rejects any attempts you make to get him to come home); and when Gar is hit by a mysterious chemical made by Crane, you go to Jason for help (it was sex pollen and a threesome ensues) 

Untitled Gar Smut (The Face Sitting Fic) - Gar Logan x Fem!Reader, Smut (the barest amount of plot), set during S2, 3k words so far, 50% done, 6k or 7k est when finished - This is based on a request I received on my old blog; Gar and the reader are sparring, and the reader wraps her legs around Gar to take him down, and this ends with her accidentally ‘sitting’ on his head; he loves the feeling, and asks her to do it again - this time, without pants on (very simple and smutty, cheers) 

Untitled Donna Fic (The Rage Chemical Fic) - Donna Troy x Fem!Kryptonian!Reader, Angst, set during the flashback era of S2, mostly just an outline atm - this is based off a request from my old blog; you are dosed with a chemical that Cadmus is working on (in the hopes of using it on Superman) and you end up in a blind rage; Donna, your lover, is the only one strong enough to fight you and inject you with the antidote (there is some angst where you try to kill Donna and she uses her calm, loving words to temporarily stop the rage) (this is structured like an episode of Titans, set during the OG Titans era)

Untitled JayGar fic (The Mockingbird Fic) - Gar Logan x Fem!Reader x Jason Todd, Hurt and Comfort, slight AU of Season 3, mostly just an outline - this is mostly inspired by the tiktok edit(s) of Jason and Gar, comparing their two styles of love, with the song lyrics ‘Daddy’s gonna but you a mockingbird, I’ll give you the world’ for Gar and ‘I’ll break that birdie’s neck’ for Jason; while the Titans are working in Gotham, several bomb threats are received; you, Jason, and Gar are at one location checking out one of these threats and someone sneaks up on you and sexually assaults you; Jason beats the man to death while Gar holds you and shields your eyes (showing how they care for you both differently but in ways that protect you) 

Untitled Donna Fic (The Death Fic) - Donna Troy x Fem!Reader, Angst and Smut, slight AU of Season 2, mostly just an outline - you and Donna are dating and in love and she gets shot by Deathstroke and dies (a much cooler death than dying from a carnival ride); she gives you her lasso as a last sign of her love, and when she somehow miraculously comes back to life, she comes back to you to get it (and to fuck you brainless to prove that she’s real when you think that she’s just a hallucination). I came up with this idea before I saw Season 3, and it was inspired by gifs of the scenes of Donna being in the forest after she had come back to life

Dick Confronts Your Abuser (not yet titled) - Dick Grayson x Fem!Reader, Hurt and Comfort, set during Season 3, 2k so far, 10k est when finished - this is similar to the fics I have already written for Abby and Ellie (and I would definitely be willing to write this prompt for other Titans characters, because it’s very close to my heart); what it says on the tin; you are in an unhappy, abusive relationship and when Dick finds out, he beats the shit out of the guy (Dick is also your ex and pining to get you back)

Untitled Enemies to Lovers Fic - Dick Grayson x Fem!Powered!Reader, Smut, set during Season 2, mostly just an outline - you are the daughter of Barry Allen/The Flash, and you have the power to slow down or speed up time around you; you have been an annoyance in Dick’s life since childhood, often using your powers to mock him and pull pranks on him; after the incident where he accidentally lets Doctor Light go, you continue mocking him, and the annoyance flares its head into attraction, and the two of you end up fucking on the mats in the training room (and you end up using your powers for good for once - making his orgasm longer and more satisfying than he ever could have thought) (I really love this idea and idk why lmao) 

Sequel Ideas:

(A lot of my fics could have sequels, and a lot of people have asked for certain fics to have sequels, but these are the fics I have thought about continuing the most and fics that I am the most excited about giving a sequel to.) 

Emergency Contact (sequel would be called The Jaws of Life) - Jason Todd x GN!Reader, Angst and Smut, set during season 3; this would be a reunion between Jason and the reader after Jason dies and comes back to life (reunion sex) 

Free Use Day (sequel would be called Shibari Whore) - Poly!OG Titans x Fem!Reader, smut, set during the flashback era; this would be a fic about Dick discovering his desire to be submissive; Dick becomes a rope bunny, and during their next play session, Dick is submissive and ‘used’ alongside the reader 

Missing You - Gar Logan x Fem!Reader x Jason Todd, Smut, set outside of the canon; I am thinking about a sequel and maybe even a third part to this, where Jason and the reader have phone sex with Gar now that they know he’s listening (and a part where they have sex with him in person) 

Now You See Me - Gar Logan x Male Reader, Angst, set during Season 3; I actually really love this fic so much and I’d love to write a sequel for it; with the Titans living in Gotham, a place that was once your home, when Hank gets into trouble with the bomb in his chest, you dive into your dark past in order to help him, and call in someone unexpected, but capable to help save Hank’s life - your father, Viktor Freeze

💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

Of the fics I consider Finished, I'm shouting out Making the Most of It. REALLY happy with how that came out :)

🥳 Why did you start writing fanfic?

I think I was in 3rd grade, maybe 2nd- I typed "Digimon Stories" into Google and was delighted to find stories about my favorite show. I was so little I didn't totally understand how to navigate websites, and thought you just got 20 random stories every day, so you can imagine my :D when I discovered the "next" button and how to use the search feature lol. I don't remember my first fic exactly, but I wrote it after the movie came out and it was some insane Digimon crack fic lol.

I just really wanted to make up my own stories about my favorite stories, and I've always had an affection for plucky guys I felt got done wrong by fandom and wanted to do better to make people understand why I loved them so much- I wrote fanfic about Davis from Digimon and Boromir from LOTR. The only fic I left up on FFnet was an HP fic that I might port over to AO3 and revise, and maybe finish or at least add authors notes of my outline, because I do mostly like what I had, but for Obvious Reasons have not been super motivated to write for that fandom in recent years lol.

Two post-war fics, one that is a sequel to Making the Most of It and one that's more focused on Daniel and Hawkeye's relationship, although BJ and Trapper are both there. Pretty distinct, but with enough overlap I need to pick one to prioritize to make sure I don't write too similar of scenes between them.

Soft Hibernation

The next part of my Rescue Bots fic- I know what the next bit will be, touched the doc last month, but not actively working on it

Under the Banner of Heaven case fic/undercover in a gay bar fic. Haven't worked on this in a few months, but I still really like the idea

🔮 Any advice for writers working through burnout or writer’s block?

Keep pondering, keep nibbling, and don't be afraid to shelve an idea and come back to it later. Fanfic is supposed to be for fun after all lfkdjjd

I have found it helpful to make the world's worst outline to act as a kind of checklist document and help connect scenes of I get stuck at one point and need to skip ahead a little.

I also like to try and focus on an emotional vibe to carry the fic, which helps get in the characters head so I can get in that trance state where the little guys are Doing Things and I just have to write it down kfjdjf. Sometimes I have an idea I like but it takes some pondering to find an emotional angle to connect with the character that makes sense as to why they are Doing The Plot, so nailing that angle before I commit to writing helps...

If I start getting bogged down in research I do the "five link" rule, where I only let myself read five things about the topic, try and cobble together enough of an explanation to pass a sniff test, then move on kgkrkrkdj

Also with skipping, the Sticking Point comes when I get too far ahead and then lose motivation for the part I was writing. Trying desperately to avoid this with my two multi-parters rn jdkdjd. Only letting myself write one or two scenes ahead helps a little...

i don't think i have any expies of Halloween specifically. in the holiday list there's a few that would have spooky or dour undertones, like the Wake of Mortilus or the Tragedy. a lot of dwelling on the dead, the monstrous and such around then. it's plausible some cultures decide to make it a creepy costume festival

i absolutely do not remember that, all i remember about remote control bodies is the sturgeonoid thing. i don't think i do have a remote control body villain??

your version actually sounds more horrifying than anything, being able to rip someone from their body and put them into whatever you please. that's a puppetmaster setup right there. actually when i think about it that way i may have a villain who has done exactly that... hm

that's not a bad idea, i'd never thought about that before! there are old and extinct species of cyberflora, since Vector Sigma does occasionally stop producing certain types and they eventually all die off, so it's possible some of these got mythologized. even normal plants could be mythologized i suppose. maybe some city-states have legends about the bombegranate being used to trick wandering travelers to stay in the Well when they eat a few seeds or something like that

it's not infinite mass shifting, they have a lower range of approximately minibot sparkling sized and an upper range of about a size 3 youngling, which means they can vary by about 15'. mostly they use it to shrink down and squeeze into tight places or go unnoticed, and bulk up to intimidate or throw a heavier punch. they're very creative with it and quickly figure out how changing sizes affects their speed and handling in their alt modes when on the run. it's also a useful ability to distract and unnerve or even make someone completely not recognize them at a glance. i haven't drawn them yet, but Squawkbox mass shifts to more comfortably combine in root mode, as they're something of a mitotic spark when powered up instead of the separate twins they are as normal kids. it'll be better explained when i draw them

Sixshot could definitely do that, absolutely. it violates all known Cybertronian physicality and rules of biology, so it'd be just as horrifying as if you saw a human do that! but it's also exactly the kind of thing they'd do, tbh. they're kind of weird and sometimes lean into the unnerving vibe. i doubt Makeshift could do this when powered down (yet) but they definitely start getting a lil more fluid and flexible than normal even as a kid

it's sort of possible. Cheetor can speak with mechanimals but that doesn't mean he can control them. a scene like this would require a LENGTHY conversation beforehand, convincing every insecticon or scraplet in the vicinity to help him out and either wasting time arguing with them or abandoning his efforts if they don't want to cooperate, and also going over a game plan for a specific strategy like forming bodies out of the swarm. most mechanimals don't even have complex thoughts like that either, so it would be an incredible challenge. he would have more success telling a mechanimal that an enemy is a good foodsource, or an interloper on their territory, or a threat to nests and dens, or something like that. simple things, not moral concepts, that align with what mechanimals actually experience and prioritize

this does of course mean sometimes he gets stuck negotiating or wheedling or out-stubborning a particularly unruly mechanimal, or trying to inventively communicate something that, say, a random songbird absolutely would not care about nor have any frame of reference for. a pigeonoid won't be able to repeat back vital information some Enforcers were talking about, only whether or not they dropped crumbs in their wake

it might be more effective asking scraplets to eat an enemy and work around what they do than tell them to swarm in a specific pattern

huh, i dunno! i don't know very much about gambling at all tbh

i imagine there's plenty of card games, betting on sports (especially on Velocitron), maybe even some gacha games or lotteries. i'm unfamiliar with a lot of slot machine or other gambling type of devices but i think there's probably some that work with object interfacing, and folks are more likely to think it's dependent on how your brain works or how efficient you are at interface when it's still up to chance

i'm not sure gambling would have as big a draw for mecha as it does for humans tbh. they can instinctively calculate probabilities more accurately than humans, and i don't think they'd get as big a dopamine hit on random chance success as we do. gambling games like cards or sports would be more attractive, where they can actually participate/predict and influence their chances

she definitely could, she does so with much larger chunks of matter all the time, but i'm not sure if it would be edible anymore. something that heavily compressed would be incredibly dense, so i'm not sure it would be chewable, and it may sit in a mech's tanks for way too long, or even be indigestible. she'd have to pick her materials and level of compression very carefully and experiment a bit with the assistance of someone who knows more about food. for junkers specifically, their more pressing need is fuel/energon over self-repair materials, and i don't think very many fuel sources could be so easily made into a lil food ball... energon would prolly just explode. Elita 2 might be able to help, but they'd need to be careful to not make it toxic. the idea has merit, but the execution isn't so simple

when they're alive, sparks sort of are self-generating. enough to perpetuate themselves, but not enough to power an entire frame without outside energy from fuel. but once they're gone, they're gone... with some recent notable exceptions. but a ghost isn't regenerative, it's just an imprint of energy that managed to stay roughly person-esque, which can happen with particularly powerful sparks like those of the supernatural Primes. but again, the way Vector died, he really shouldn't have had a ghost at all. i'm not telling you how bc i'd like to illustrate it someday but it was pretty final

oh that's an excellent question hmmmmmmmm

i want to say yes just for the anime of it all. the whole sequence with sparkles and effects and specific body parts changing and glowing and spinning and oo la la! i would guess to an outside observer it's like a flash and the usual transformation noise but Different somehow and a sudden rush of power like static electricity prickling across their sensors. and of course their catchphrases, like on the tech specs here. actually i think their powerup phrases would just be the faction "mottos" like this

Do you have any thoughts on tunneling in WindClan?

it's an interesting concept with a really weak conflict!! which you know, could be said about the entirety of tallstar's revenge. There's no real rhyme or reason why some of the central conflicts happen. Why does Heatherstar wanna get rid of tunneling? Who knows! Why does ShadowClan keep randomly attacking?? Who knows! Why does Sandgorse retroactively get turned into a good guy at the end? Who k- no wait, it's because the writers suck.

I think the most fondness I have for the idea comes from, funnily enough, from the ideas that it's created from other people. I like the concept of tunneling as a representation of the cats overworking their environment, quite literally tearing it up from the inside for the sake of just having more. I also like it as its dissolution being something as a representation of how the Clans prioritize being battle ready over anything else. If it's not there to be an immediate boon during a battle, it's not worth it.

But in the text...there's not much to it? There's no real rhyme or reason. Heatherstar's reasoning is vague and unconvincing. I like the idea of a conflict in the Clan but it's done so poorly that you have to wonder why bother (which i could say about the entirety of tallstar's revenge but whatever).

General notes: Sandgorse must be portrayed as bad in the end, why didn't this happen in the book. Why was he allowed to abuse his son for the entirety of a book then get retroactively treated like just a swell guy in the end. Palebird and Tallstar would have a goddamn conversation when he returns like holy fuck. Shrewclaw needs to apologize?? he straight up tells tallpaw to kill himself????? what is wrong with the books. Tallstar leaving Jake isn't treated as this sad but noble decision, it's a regret that stains Tallstar's mind for moons to come and impacts how he leads (he resents the Clan deep down even though it was his choice).

Move the issue away from it being tunneling and moreso the divide that it's causing. WindClan tunnelers have their own Medic who travels with them to give blessings and administer care, this Medic often comes into conflict with the Moor Runner's Medic and the two squabble on how to advise their leader.

At this time, Heatherstar is seeking to expand WindClan territory right to the strip by the mothermouth. This move makes her very unpopular with the other Clans, specifically ShadowClan. I think this conflict would strengthen WindClan's us vs. them ideals that Sandgorse tries to instill in Tallstar. Both Medics would see this as an opportunity to seize favor in the Clan by having their respect division help win the contested piece of land and (of course) this leads to more conflict.

The Moor Runners win of course and tunneling's very existence begins to come under question. Tallkit is a child during a very tense time with Sandgorse as such a vocal and aggressive supporter of tunneling resulting in him being isolated from his peers. The other queens try to help and support him with Palebird suffering from grief after losing Palebird.

The travellers aren't just a group of random cats who stay because the plot demands it. They should have some sort of attachment such as maybe having helped the Clan in the past or even being ex-WindClan cats who were sent out on some sort of pilgrimage. Either way, Sandgorse doesn't like them and Tallpaw takes after him in this regard.

Have Jake be part of the travellers or have him and Tallpaw meet earlier an establish a friendship. They travelled for like a week, they're barely friends.

Sandgorse and the Tunnellers Medic is killed in the crash resulting in a highly tense atmosphere where Tallpaw is pushed into taking on the role but decides to become a Moor Runner. The hostility from his former tunnellers and the lack of support from the moor runners is what also pushes him to leave (even though he tells himself he's going to get revenge for his father).
