i don’t think it’s a case of better or worse at all!!! different experience though…

p1 is more expansive, more cohesive as a whole, the story is soooo rich and sprawling and well written, like a very dense and fascinating novel. thematically it hooks you in very much and there’s So much to find there.

that being said it’s also unescapably 2005 godawful graphics of it all and personally that does detract from the experience a bit lmao…… i can only handle so much at a time, and for that alone can be daunting, plus mechanics are a bit more dire in my opinion but others may disagree

this probably makes me sound like a wimp but well. i am. i’m also not much of a gamer in general so

p2 is only 1/3 of the story but it’s modernised and tightened somewhat. so, lacking some of the sprawling details of p1, but it’s visually gorgeous and very immersive. i’d say it’s an easier entry?

artemy as a character also just has such warmth and he is so beautifully written so experiencing the world through him adds to it imo. i say this as a dankovsky enjoyer, i can’t wait for the bachelor route, but i do personally think the story starts more seamlessly w artemy, the haruspex route being all about warmth and love, despite the viscera and devastation of it all…. yeah. so i think i’d say p2!

Usually, Soundwave worked alone, focusing on his ideas. Either in silence or accompanied by the music he loved so much. But just that solar-cycle, Rodimus asked to join him. So he agreed. Obviously.

Yet, there was something peculiar about this, right at the back of his processors. Rodimus was quiet. Barely any move, barely a peep. Someone usually so full of life, then still, reading through a new speech he had given him before. Soundwave had never seen him that thoughtful and… Strangely, there was beauty within it.

Though, it must’ve been enough of a puzzlement for Rodimus too, as he looked up. When their optics met, Soundwave decided to cave in, “Is something wrong?”

“Haha, nothing’s wrong by your side!” Startled, Rodimus answered. “Just… Just wanted to focus on work for once. Like you always do.”

Soundwave hummed underneath his vocoder, “Thank you. But I do feel rather strange with you not talking.”

“You want me to talk? Cause oh man, be careful what you wish for, just ask Cyclonus, she… She can word things pretty bluntly,” he joked around. Obviously no matter what, she still cared for Rodimus.

“I don’t mind it. I like your voice,” he reassured him, voice steady as it could ever be.

To which Rodimus smiled. As a gentle rock ballad played from Soundwave’s speakers, he could hear the lyrics being repeated by Rodimus. That was when his confession from before finally came together.

Was Rodimus trying to impress him? Soundwave wasn’t sure. Simply, he scooted closer, their shoulders brushing against each other.

If it was the truth, though… Then it wouldn’t be a surprise why suddenly warmth spread all across from Soundwave’s spark.

sadly at the moment no, tumblr was the only place where the great majority of my Homestuck art was (along with some One Piece art and a good chunk of my early bnha art) and even though I don't think much about Homestuck and Piratestuck these days, I wanted to share these art back then and the sentiment is still true today, I really want all my old arts to still be accessible for everyone to find, even if looking at them today myself might make me cringe due to it being old and seeing all the flaws in them lmao

what's your process for coloring like? the look of that elendira is so textured and interesting, i can't figure out how you do it

AA THANK YOUU ^__^ !! textures & brushwork are my favorite things abt my art, so im happy you find it interesting hehe . its SOO cool to look at & so much fun to draw imo

i prefer to color by building in layers , if that makes sense 🤔!! hundreds of them !! such that i'm always drawing on Top of previous layers, working from big & messy blocks of color to, eventually, small and refined blocks of color until it feels processed enough. as a result, i rarely ever erase (!!) and i rarely ever draw lineart aside from the initial sketch

a rough, patchy textured brush is key here, as it'll give you dimension and variability w/ your colors. i recommend "Brush and various sets of fountain pen style (万年筆風ブラシと色々セット)" on Clip Studio (ID: 1679706) !! :3

im terrible with explanations though, so i'm going to show a step by step of that elendira drawing if you dont mind :3

sketch layer !! because i mostly render through color alone, i try to make this as close to the finished thing as possible . ^__^ i hateee drawing the same thing over and over and like the expressivity and movement of my sketches anyways , so the more i can preserve at this step, the better. if u were to look at a side by side of my sketches and finished pieces, youd notice a lot of those og lines are present in the final drawing :3

2. flats !! pretty self explanatory, but the solid background gives me an idea of where the figure begins & ends while the colors themselves help distinguish whats what . i stick to ambient lighting @ this point because im usually not sure what i want to do with the overall palette or lighting yet . having two tones (ex, dark and light in her hair or dark and light on her skin) can also help in identifying key features early on that u wanna preserve. as you build layer by layer, sometimes these areas will remain untouched and i think it makes for a rly lovely feel at the end

3. start blocking !!! to be totally honest with you, i dont really know what i do here HAHAHA. like i just scribble the shit out of it, usually focusing on what i might want to do with lighting (ex: grey areas to accentuate folds in her costume). i think i like to start "erasing" the sketch where possible by coloring on top of it .. like if you look at her hat or her arm , you can tell i'm starting to get a sense of the shapes i like vs the ones i dont. it's at this point that the final image starts to emerge in my mind , like im gradually pulling her from a tarpit of scribbles until shes recognizable lol. chipping away at the marble until i can free her. tbh.

4. keep blockingg...when u think u are done , block some more . as you can probably see, the brushwork becomes more intentional as i add more shape, with specific focus on line weight. this is also where the patchiness of that textured brush comes in - notice how none of the colors seem totally uniform (ex: the red cross or the original sketchlines for her waist). you can see bits and pieces of the layers underneath pushing through and i really like that !! ^__^ its very fun and sketchy to me, so i try to keep them around. those areas are also great to colorpick from, because it'll give you "new" colors to work w/ that are already part of your palette.

5. GRADIENTS & GRADIENT MAPS !! TONE CURVE !! COLOR PICKER !! this is the best stage tbh. flatten your image so its all on one layer and just go crazy with all the color settings in ur program. add gradient layers and set them to darken, or overlay, or subtract, orrr. lighten or dodge glow or divide or soft/hard light.! OR!! edit the hue, saturation, luminosity and contrast.and then color pick from these edits, block even more on top of ur image, flatten, color edit again, etc. etc. until u feel satisfied.

Oh man I adore so many of them, honestly the art style in general is SO COOL that I just love both the concepts and the drawings themselves. I find the art for a bunch of them is more silly than scary so i shy away from those, even if some of the descriptions for those are really dope too

Anyways I was wondering if you could write a Brienne x female reader who is also a knight? Like maybe Brienne is fighting in a tournament and remains undefeated (obviously) until reader shows up with no one knowing who she actually is and that she’s a lady? (Maybe she’s known as the mysterious knight?)

The two of them go head to head and everyone, including Brienne, is shocked to see that the reader is actually good at fighting and is at the same skill level as Brienne which leads them to tie. Reader then takes her helmet off and everyone is surprised to see another lady? And then maybe Brienne finds the reader afterwards and they have a conversation??

You had often heard of Brienne or Tarth. She was the only female knight of Westeros. Or so everyone thought. People talked about her either in praising her fights. Telling you that she was undefeated and the strongest and most honourable knight there was. Or they told you that she was a monster, Brienne the Beauty they called her. As a joke, of course. Ever since you had come to Westeros and heard of her, you wanted to meet this frowned-upon and yet admired woman.

So it was no surprise, that you immediately went to participate in the tournament you knew Brienne would also attend. From the side you watched as Brienne defeated one after another participant. Her grace and elegance while fighting impressed you. Rarely had you seen such skill, such knowledge of a sword. Her sword guidance was incredibly precise, and she never failed to hit. The way her feet danced on the ground and her steps showed that she was an expert in sword fighting and probably learned from a very young age on. You were stunned and absolutely mesmerised by this woman, and you hadn't even seen her face yet. Being fully covered throughout the whole tournament.

As it was your turn to face Brienne, the crowd murmured. You were well known, yet none knew your name nor your origin. All around people had given you the name "mysterious knight". And even though everyone had heard about you and your talent, they were shocked to see you standing your ground against Brienne. Brienne included.

The fight began, and even though Brienne was much taller than you and extremely skilled with a sword, you could easily keep up. One lunge from her was met by an empty fade from your side. An attack from behind was blocked with ease through guard of the woman from you.

You danced around each other, neither one backing away, no one yielding and certainly none being defeated. The crowd, you were aware, was probably bored by your performance. They'd like to see a fight, but this. This was a dance, it was art. It reminded you of the reason you had started sword fighting. Of course, to protect you. But also because you had always admired the grace and beauty in it.

For you, it had always been a form of art, rather than a way of hurting people. Of course that came with the job description, and you had accepted it a long time ago.

After having fought and danced around each other for quite some time there was an unspoken agreement between the two of you, made just through slowing movements, that you'd tie it. The crowd was polite enough to give the two of you some applause before they started yelling that you should uncover and reveal yourself.

It was fun being known and unknown at the same time, but you'd much rather have people know your name. So you took off your helmet, your long (h/c) hair falling down your back. The people around you went silent, shock washing over their face.

"Ser (Y/n) (Y/l/n)." You introduced yourself, mainly to Brienne, and bowed. It was fun, seeing the people realise that Brienne wasn't the only female knight in Westeros anymore. You turned to the crowd, bowing again.

"It was my pleasure, entertaining you." With that, and your helmet under the arm, you left.

You sat in your tent, taking off your armour when someone entered. Looking up you saw a woman with blonde, short hair. A few stray locks falling into her face. You had never seen the face before, but the walk and the armour indicated that it had to be Brienne. You were mesmerised and unable to talk for a moment. Her fighting and sword-guidance was beautiful, but that was nothing compared to the woman in front of you. Her blue eyes felt like and ocean full of stories, full of a lifetime. A lifetime that you wanted to know everything about. You would to tell her every little thing about you if it would mean to know just one thing about her in return.

"Ser (Y/n), I'm-" finding your voice again, you interrupted her.

"You're Ser Brienne of Tarth." She was stunned for a second, not having expected for you to know her name.

"Yes, that's right. I've come to talk about our fight earlier." You were happy she had searched you. For you had desperately wanted to talk to her too. But right now you couldn't appreciate that one bit as you were struggling with taking off your breastplate. You hated taking the armour off on your own, never, not once in your life had you succeeded at doing it gracefully on your own.

"Would you be so kind, and help me? I'd love to talk about the fight, but I really want to take this off first." Brienne's face turned bright red, and she stumbled about her words. Deciding in the end, to just not say anything. But she did help you, albeit hesitant.

After she had found her voice again, she opened the conversation, while taking off your armour.

"I was pleasantly surprised by your skill. I've never met someone before who could keep up with me. Also, it's nice not being the only female knight. It's often frowned upon by people." You gave her a warm smile. You felt that you had a connection with this woman. She said exactly what you were thinking. Having her so close suddenly made you nervous. Her warm breath in your skin, gave you goosebumps. And you felt that this would eventually grow into something beautiful.

BSD 109 spoilers!

This detail of the scale in the new BSD official art with Dazai and Fyodor is more than life and death on a scale and let me explain why

I was inspired to make this even though i don’t use tumblr much (i want to now after twitter died) after reading @soupthatistohot ‘s post on BSD as an absurdist text - I found it rly interesting!!

To summarise it for context, “Absurdism is the belief that the world around us is irrational and inherently absurd and that explicitly seeking meaning is pointless … All of the animanga’s main characters are on a journey of discovering their meaning in life, and their place in the world, and they do this by rebelling against its absurdity — especially Dazai.”

We can think of the scale as an allusion to Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice, where the scale has been famously used to represent the 1 pound of flesh with no extracted blood- essentially no violence or death- that is to be given in exchange for being unable to repay a loan - ultimately, an exact pound of your flesh being extracted would result in death. The scale in the official art depicts that ‘flesh’ in the form of a heart (a vital organ) is of equal weight to an angel wing. Presenting the angel wing which cannot exist in the real world, Asagiri utilises the fantasy elements of BSD to fully drive the possibility for the ability users to thrive within the non-ability world, ‘discovering their meaning … and their place in the world’. This is important because earlier as stated, BSD rebels against absurdity. Dazai’s side with the angel wing suggests his nature to rebel from the original narratives - to subvert our expectations and come out of this through his own means, using his ability for good. To be on the side that saves people.

The sheer fact something like an angel wing-a miracle, basically, from Dazai’s side is possible to resolve conflict and be of equal standing to the pound of flesh that was demanded to repay the loan is crazy. The pound of flesh/flesh on a scale representation has been seen in multiple pieces of media- within animanga, It’s seen in Moriarty the Patriot as a direct reference in one scene too!

Bringing this back to the scale itself, the skull represents mortality - important because multiple character’s mortality are at stake as a result of the present saga’s conflict. Skulls can also represent the opposite however, protection, power, and a gratitude towards life. Further if you wanted to draw upon the ideals of Memento Mori it’s just an overarching symbol that lies perched at the very top of the official art that reminds us that despite these character’s absurdist rebellions, nobody can escape death overall … well, maybe Dazai can here 🤷‍♀️

There’s a lot more I want to say about the official art’s intertextual symbolism… I love how BSD official artworks always have some dichotomy between the setting and the characters that prove something or else.

Your Depiction of Ulfric is literal perfection. I’ve never seen anyone who sees him in a similar way to me, until I found your account last year. I fucking love miserable old man Ulfric who could never catch a break since the day he was born. Every major event in his life (he can’t even decide which one’s the worst) shaped him in the worst yet most interesting way possible. I can’t speak enough about him, his messed up self esteem clashing with his ego, his repressed emotions and sexuality, his shattered image of his own body and mind, the constant loud arguments between the voices in his head (mostly just him arguing with hallucinations) *I’m definitely not projecting here* his unstable mood, his flashbacks and his odd obsessions with random harmful patterns he associates with familiarity. Because to him familiar=safe even if he’s basically only familiar to a constant state of worry and feeling like he’s being targeted or hunted down.

None of this seems to be getting better, at least not in a notable speed. Yet they’re all existing within a strong and powerful man. It’s quite the combination, he’s being weighted down by all of that baggage but his back is too strong to bend. He appears as if he has nerves of steel from the outside, but really if anything is made of steel in his mind, it’s the vessel that he uses to bottle all of that trauma up.

I already had a vague idea of his complicated relationship (obviously) with Elenwen but your version literally felt like it opened my third eye. It is scrumptious and your art is so beautiful it depicts every essence of it all perfectly without even needing to include words. I fell in love with it at first sight.

Omg wtf Thank you's 🥺🥺🥺💕💕💕💕 this is so well put together into words; i will do 9543 backflips for demented ulfric always. i've grown to like him in canon too cause he really has that, wouldn't even call it deceitful, weirdly-content personality.. but i don't think anyone in the writing room in sk*rim HQ knows how to write a character that has been through Anything, event of any kind, so he seems too 'perfect' for a person that has been through literal physical torture, to me, and his reactions to things that should be greatly upsetting are too mild. even though him being elenwen's victim is a piece of information that's easy to miss it seems like it also completely slipped out of the writing IOFDHDJFUIO LOL.. it all obviously adds up to him seeming more appealing as a fashie character to the audience, cus a visibly mentally unwell man wouldn't do it for most people, especially when you want to sway someone to be on his side of things.

i think it's quite smart for the st*rmcloaks to be presented as the more warm and welcoming types of people but ulfric should be the coldest of them all. Bro shouldn't even have the mental and physical capacity to seem Content with his life especially in that moment. he should be the type to use his civil war motivations as an excuse to stay alive if that makes sense, cause i don't think he really wants to live, but he has things to do to keep his mind and hands busy xchkvcjcvkl//

i also really love how ulfric only has galmar as someone he's really close to, it always seemed beyond genius to me, to write them like that, it's cute... he rly is the only person to suffer thru 4 hours of ulfric Peak psychosis monologue followed by 2 hours of trying to prove to him that th*lmor and imperial soldiers aren't hiding in the chests and under the beds of the palace LMFAOO galmar is the one guy who he can sob in front of and act like a little baby fishing for compliments and reassurance, and, not all that related to ulfric as a whole, but i strongly believe that having him be so vulnerable with galmar would make galmar really excited, it would make him feel good, like no other damsel in distress could deliver that feeling EVER. having such a seemingly-strong political figure rely on you Badly and madly would feel like something else entirely 💗 it's very off-putting and perhaps inappropriate of him to feel that way when ulfric is just searching for stability, but i think that even if ulfric knew galmar felt that way he wouldn't really gaf LOL. he'd turn to elenwen if there was no one else to go to cause he 'knows' her, and he'd torment elisif cause he 'knows' her as well.. but he would be completely closed off from making connections with other people 🏆

+ bonus; elenwen's feelings for him would border on everything at once, like, every type of relationship and connection that ever exists.. she really views him as the food she left over in the fridge and will get to eat when she's back from work as a reward

hello my darlings!! I've really been wanting to introduce a few of my main characters to you all!! I was thinking of possibly doing headcanons/oneshots/drabbles in the future! (May be purely self-indulgent but we'll see) That being said, This is basically a very brief intro and info dump about each character. So let's get started!!

All characters and art belong to me!! Like I've said before I'm an artist and draw scenes and characters. I have a shit ton of art of all these guys that I'd love to share if anyone's ever interested!

Night

I've had her the longest, I made her several years ago. She's literally just a self-insert for EVERYTHING I enjoy sshejwka. But on another note! This is Night, she's a humanoid griffin hybrid (griffins being the mythological beast, half eagle half lion). She's very sweet and friendly. She's so mom-coded omg. Like she'll bake you little treats, makes sure your dressed for the weather, and reminds you of things you need to get done.

She has this locket around her neck that she keeps close to her. This is because it contains her "soul" or "spirit" inside of it. Every griffon has one, and it's what helps her to transform. Which btw shapeshifterrrr. Her true form being that of an actual griffin. She's a gentle giant though don't worry.

Tom

I know what you're thinking and no, he's not related to Bill Cipher. Tom is a 25-year-old art college student. He's a no-nonsense kind of guy, and very easily irritated. He's a fine arts major and does a lot of painting. He HATES his roommate (there's literally nothing wrong with him he's so nice and friendly, tom is just a dick). He's got a pet snake!! He's a hognose named Poncho! He's a total stonerrrrrrr, it's the only time he'll be chill honestly.

He and his roommate live in a city style apartment, on the first floor, complete with a basement. Unbeknownst to his roommate, Tom has a secret black market business selling organs to dealers. The basement is where he does all the harvesting, it strictly prohibited for anyone to go down there. It makes hella money though, which he uses to help pay his tuition (art college is expensive!)

Orphan btw. His mom is Night actually (an adoptive relationship) She loves and cares about him very much, the same goes for him. He usually acts more behaved if she's around.

Roman

Roman is, well he's a--thing?? creature?? I haven't decided in all honesty but he's dangerous. He travels all across the country, making sure to be well hidden. He's a serial killer oop. His signature weapon being a bowie knife. Bros got some major sadistic and animalistic tendencies. Eats his victims btw. He can't rly show his face in public, and the mans gotta eat right??

He likes to hunt. His victims are essentially "prey" to him, and he does so enjoy the thrill of a chase. He's got a looooooong tongue (as you can see) he's accidently bitten it once or twice with those sharp teeth of his. Has a tail as well, yk what espeons tail looks like? yea it's like that. His ears are sensitive btw he doesn't like them being touched.

Can never stay in one spot for too long, constantly on the move, he's got great stamina and can run for quite a long time.

Damien

WOOO. RUFFmEOW. BIG STRONG MAN LETS GO RAGHHH. ya so this is Damien. As you can tell I love him very much and I'm so very normal about him. He's an incubussss (sex demon basically). Literal definition of a Himbo. He's a big beefy guy who's wholesome and sweet, despite his line of work.

Super flirty, and also hypersexual. It's what he feeds off of, and how he regenerates and gets his magic. which btw, he can be summoned!

He's got a looot of body hair, happy trail for dayysss! Also has a bunch of peircings, snake bites on his face, and nipple peircings on his pecks. He's got numerous scars littered all over his body too. He's really sweet an attentive, as well as respectful! What more could you want in a man??

Alecto

BIG WOMAN. she's literally just my "villain" version of Night, however she's not a self-insert. I gave her, her own story and lore. She's the main antagonist in an animated series I'm creating. Her name is based of the Mythological woman "Alecto" Who was a fury of the underworld, she symbolizes rage and spreads it across the world.

She's very quick to anger. "hot-headed" (Pun-intended). The back of her hair is literally fire, and it can grow and change depending on her mood. Those gauntlets on her arms are strong AF and razor sharp, you do not want to get on her bad side. Ngl, she kinda feral at times, yk how Miguel O'Hara literally ran on all fours to chase after Miles Morales??? Yea she does that.

She's evil muehahshegsh, but also classy. She's also really tall!!! like about 8'6'' DAYUM. she'll crush you.

annnndd thats a wrap!! These are the main Oc's that I adore and use on a regular basis, they each hold a special place in my heart. I rly would love to do occasional drabbles or head canons with my babies at some point, but I'm not sure anyone would read/enjoy them 😭
