It had already been a month since you babysat Sarah and you got closer to Joel. You spent almost every dinner with him. You even spent your weekends with him and baby Sarah. Joel and you probably even attached to each other at this point.
“We’re going to the zoo, yayy!!” You extended your hand to the back seat hyping up Sarah who was sitting in the baby car seat.
“You excited, babygirl?” Joel turned his head to look at Sarah before he drove.
*Sarah giggled*
“She’s definitely excited.” You laughed and looked at Joel.
“Seatbelt?” Joel reminded you.
“Right.” You grabbed the seatbelt and wore it.
“Okay. Done.” You told Joel.
“Alright. Let’s go.” Joel put his hands on the steering wheel and drove to the zoo.
At the zoo
“There’s so many people here.” You said as you cradled Sarah on your chest while waiting for Joel who was setting up the baby stroller.
“Maybe because it's the weekend?” Joel shrugged.
“Yeah.” You nodded and looked around.
“Ready?” Joel asked as he put the baby bag on his shoulder and held the baby stroller.
“She’s sleeping? Want to put her here?” Joel offered to put Sarah in the stroller.
“I’ll hold her for a while.”
Joel went to buy the tickets while you sat on the bench with Sarah. She slept so soundly so you decided to put her in the stroller.
“You got it?” You stood up as Joel was walking towards you.
“Yep.” Joel pushed the baby stroller and walked to the entrance with you.
It had been a while since the last time you went to the zoo so you got excited. You remembered when you were a kid you went to the zoo with your parents almost every month. You loved animals so you always asked your dad to bring you to the zoo.
“I missed this feeling.”
“Going to the zoo?” Joel raised his eyebrows.
“Yeah, I used to go to the zoo every month with my family.” You chuckled.
“Glad I asked you to come.” Joel smiled.
“Thanks, Joel. I feel like a kid again.” You stroked his muscly upper arm.
“You’re welcome.”
*Baby Sarah babbled*
“Someone is awake.” You walked forward and crouched to see Sarah.
Joel stopped and crouched beside you.
“Hey, babygirl. You want to see around?” He caressed Sarah’s cheek with his index finger.
*Sarah giggled*
Joel lifted Sarah from the stroller and carried her with one arm while the other arm pushed the stroller.
“Give me the bag. I’ll carry it.” You wanted to help.
“No, no. It’s heavy.” Joel refused.
“Why don’t we put it in the stroller?” You suggested.
“Oh, yeah. Right.” You took the bag from Joel’s shoulder and put it in the empty stroller.
*Saw a lion*
“There! Look sweetie, it’s a lion.” You pointed at the lion. Joel turned Sarah so she could see.
“Roaarr..” You roared and made a claw gesture to Sarah.
She just stared at you confused.
“She has no idea what you’re doin’.” Joel laughed.
“Yep. She didn’t even flinch.” You laughed.
“We should bring her back here again when she’s bigger. I’m sure she won’t remember today.” Joel added.
Joel froze for a second. He thought to himself, “I did not just say that.”. He was embarrassed with the words he just said. Did he just ask you to come to the zoo with him and Sarah a few years in the future? Did he just include you in his future? He was flustered but he had to act cool.
“Yes, she’s too small to remember. But she looks happy now.” You stroked Sarah’s head who was resting on Joel’s chest.
“I haven’t seen monkeys. Where’s the monkeys?” Joel tried to change the topic.
“Wait. Let’s see the map.” You looked at the map and found where the monkeys were.
“Here.” You pointed at the location and guided the way.
You and Joel walked around the zoo and enjoyed the moment. You introduced various animals to baby Sarah even though you know she didn’t understand and she wouldn’t remember it. But it was fun and important to interact with the baby so you did it anyway. Joel also interacted with Sarah, he made animals sound to her and you laughed at him.
The day at the zoo was really fun. And you couldn’t stop thinking about what the waitress from the Mexican place said. She said that the three of you looked really cute as a family and even said you two made a beautiful baby?! You actually got butterflies when you heard that. You had always liked playing house when you were a kid so you enjoyed this moment with Joel and baby Sarah. You felt like you were spending your weekend with your family with a husband and a baby daughter. It felt real and you liked it. You wondered what other people thought when they saw the three of you. Did they see you and Joel as a married couple with a baby? The thought itself made you giggle but you tried your best to hide it. For a moment, you forgot that you weren’t ready to commit to a relationship.
“Do you want to sit for a while and get somethin’ to eat?” Joel pointed to an empty seat and table.
“Yeah, I’m kinda hungry.” You put your hand to your stomach.
“Sit here.” Joel dragged the chair for you to sit.
You moved the baby bag from the stroller and Joel put Sarah in the stroller.
“Hot dog?” Joel asked.
“Yeah, anything.” You nodded.
“Okay, wait here.” Joel nodded and walked away to buy hot dogs.
While waiting for Joel, you pushed the stroller back and forth so Sarah could sleep.
“Here.” Joel passed you the hot dog.
“Thank you.” You grab a bite to the hot dog.
Joel and you talked as you ate. Joel suggested that you sit for a while and rest.
“Joel..”
“Yeah?”
“Do you remember the last time we met my ex that morning months ago? I haven’t talked to you about it..I-uh-I’m sorry I let him believe we were married. I just-I just want him to believe I’m happy without him. I mean I am happy. I’m sure you heard me that day. Well, long story short, he cheated on me. So I hate him so much.” You rolled your eyes as you tried to open up to him.
“I totally understand. You don’t have to apologize. He’s a jerk. Let him believe we’re married, I’m your husband, that’s okay, as long as I can help you.” Joel’s words touched your heart. How could a man be this sweet?
“Thank you, Joel.”
“I-uh-I also haven’t told you about Sarah’s mom.”
“Wait, I have a confession to make.” You stopped Joel.
“Confession?” Joel raised his eyebrows.
“I actually overheard you and Sarah’s mom on the night she left.” You confessed.
“Oh..Yeah so she left us. We had a shotgun wedding and she decided to leave 3 months after Sarah was born. Said we’re not meant to be together. Doesn’t want a baby and everythin’.” He sighed.
“You deserve better, Joel.” You put your hand on top of his.
“Thank you.” He smiled at you.
“You know what? Should we keep doing this?” You lightened up the mood.
“Do what?” Joel was confused.
“This. Us playing house.” You pointed at him and yourself back to back.
Joel raised his eyebrows, pouted his lips and nodded.
“Should we make a contract?” You joked.
“Contract? I don’t follow.” Joel rested his chin on his palm.
“You know. Like in movies where they make contracts for fake relationships and stuff.” You explained. Joel nodded as he listened to you trying to digest what you were saying.
“At least we could do it in front of our exes. You did that for me. I’ll do that for you too if you want me to.”
“That sounds fun.” Joel was interested in your proposal.
“So should we write a contract now?” Joel asked.
“No, no. I was just joking. How about just a verbal pact?” You laughed.
“Deal.” He stretched his hand to you to shake your hand.
“Alright, Mr. Miller. Deal.” You shook his hand.
*baby cries*
“Time to eat.” You laughed.
Joel took the baby bottle from the baby bag and put Sarah in his arms to feed her.
“You hungry, huh?” Joel looked at Sarah as he fed her.
After Joel fed her, he stood up and put Sarah facing away from him to help her burp.
“Can I do it?” You offered.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to.”
“I want to.” You insisted.
Joel passed Sarah to you and you placed Sarah on your chest facing back. You supported her chin on your shoulder and gently patted her back. After one or two minutes, she let out a burp.
“Good girl.” You chuckled.
“Oh!” You suddenly felt damp on your shoulder.
You turned away to show your back to Joel.
“Is there something on my back?” You asked Joel.
“Uhm..Yes..” Joel didn’t know what to say.
“What is it?” You panicked.
“I think Sarah just dribbled some milk on you.” Joel rubbed his mouth.
“Uh-oh.” You put Sarah back to the stroller and tried to look at your back.
Joel quickly got some tissue and helped you wiped the milk on your shoulder and hair.
“Here. Why don’t you change into this?” He took off his outer flannel shirt and gave it to you. He was now wearing only a white shirt.
“Thank you.” You went to the restroom to change and went back to him and Sarah.
“It looks like I’m wearing a dress.” You chuckled.
“You look cute.” Joel praised you but his voice was so small.
He didn’t want you to hear him. You heard him anyway but you acted like you didn’t. In fact, you were blushing. You and Joel continued wandering around the zoo, joking and laughing until the zoo closed then you went home.
“Today was fun.” Joel said as he parked the car in the driveway.
“I had a great time. Thank you.” You reached his hand and gave a slight touch.
“She’s sleeping.” You whispered as you looked at baby Sarah in the back seat.
“We gotta keep quiet.” Joel whispered and chuckled.
“I’ll wash your shirt and give you back tomorrow?” You pinched the shirt.
“Don’t worry about that.”
You went home smelling Joel’s shirt and giggled. His woody, musky, masculine smell gives you comfort and you wished you could keep it. But you had to give it back so you gave it a last smell before you put it in your washing machine and got back to reality.
To be continued…

Little Sister (8yrs old) x triplets
Genre - Sorta Angst & Fluff
Synopsis - When the triplets little sister has been staying with them for a month but she suddenly feels home sick but also guilty.
⋆˚✿˖°
Matt pov:
Our little sister y/n has been staying with us for a month since our parents wanted to go on vacation. We don’t mind it at all, it’s been pretty fun lately. It just gets hard when we have to film videos or go to meetings that she can’t be in.
“Y/n you ready to go?” Chris called out.
“Yes I’m so excited” She yelled as she ran down the hallway jumping into Chris’s arms.
He laughed and carried out to the car where Nick already was.
“Took y’all long enough” He grumpily said looking at me.
“Hey don’t look at me! It’s y/n who took so long” I lifted my hands in defense.
“Matt! No I didn’t I was very quick!” She protested slurring her words a little as she talked.
“Yes you did sis don’t listen to them” Chris took her side as her buckled her into her car seat and kissed her cheek.
It’s clear that Chris has a favorite sibling.
LS Pov:
My brothers were taking me to Canes for lunch. It’s not much, but to me it’s the best food in the world. A lot of my friends seem to not like it but I don’t understand how! It’s too good.
I remember how mom would take me to this other restaurant in Boston that also had chicken tenders and we would order a big plate and share. I miss her.
Or when dad would take me to the dinner back in town to eat waffles for breakfast every Saturday. I miss him too.
But I’m with my brothers I shouldn’t be missing my parents right?
“Ok we’re here!” Matt yells.
I’m only 8 which means I still have to sit in a car seat. It’s so stupid I’m sure I could be a big girl and seat on the actual seat. I can’t even get out of the car without the help of my brothers because for some reason I can’t get the seatbelt to unlock.
“You exited?” Matt says as he helps me out of the car.
“Yes very” I reply as I take his hand.
“Awwww look how cute they look! She looks so small compared to Matt!” I hear Nick say behind us and a camera click.
We get a table and we order our food. But as we wait a woman that I could’ve sworn was mom walked in.
“Is that mommy?” I ask my brothers. They all turn their head to look at the woman.
“No y/n it’s not. Moms in Hawaii with dad remember?” Nick laughs.
“Oh yea sorry” I say now embarrassed.
“Hey it’s ok I thought it was her too at first” Matt comforts me. I smile at him and rest my head on his arm since he was sat next to me.
I start to feel sleepy since I haven’t taken my daily nap yet. I do everything to keep my eyes open but nothing works. They fall shut and I start to loose consciousness.
“Hey baby wake foods here” Matt rubs my back waking me up.
“Yay” I say in a tired voice as I sit up from Matt. My hair all messed up and my eyes still closed.
“Good nap?” They all laugh and I do too.
As we eat our food I see a little girl walk in with her mom. They’re holding hands and they’re laughing together. She’s holding a shopping bag so it looks like they went to the mall together. It reminds me of me and mom. Is it bad that I really miss her? I shouldn’t miss her I’m with my brothers that I only see once in a while since they live in L.A.
“You ok?” Chris asks.
“Mhm” I nod.
We were just waiting on the check when I see a man walk in. He walks over to the table where the girl and her mom are. He’s the dad. They all sit together and the girl is laughing with her dad and the mom seems to be taking pictures of them. I miss my dad too. I miss being home and going out to eat with my parents. I feel so guilty about missing home because my brothers are doing so much to take care of me. I shouldn’t feel this way.
I feel tears well up in my eyes but I quickly blink them away before my brothers realize.
“Can we go now?” I quietly ask.
“Uh yea come on” Matt says confused at my sudden change of emotion.
As we walk out I feel two pairs of arms launch me up in the air. I start giggling and screeching like crazy and I’m thrown in the air and back down.
“You want ice cream?” Chris says as he holds me instead of launching me.
“No not really” I reply as I rest my head in the crook of his neck.
“What you always want ice cream” He says stunned.
“I’m full I don’t really want any” I lie. Truth is I do want ice cream I just don’t wanna see more families there that will remind me of home.
“Ok so what ice cream place do we go to?” Nick asks looking at Chris who’s carrying me.
“Uhh she said she doesn’t want ice cream so just go back home I guess” Chris replies.
“What? But y/n you always want ice cream” Matt questions.
“That’s what I said” Chris chuckles.
“I just don’t want it ok!” I say with a ruder tone.
“Ok ok Sorry we’ll go back home” Matt replies looking at Chris and Nick confused.
Once we get home I run into the room where I have been staying and jump onto the bed quickly getting a hold of the stuffed animal my parents gave me. It’s a little frog which is my favorite animal. My dad had sprayed his cologne on it so it would smell like him. And my mom had put one of her bracelets as a necklace on it. So I just laid there on my bed hugging my little frog while looking at a picture of my parents and I. Tears threatened to spill out of my eyes. I miss home.
Nick pov:
I have been editing videos since we got back from lunch. I usually hear y/n laughing or screaming with either Matt or Chris as they play a game or watch a movie. But today it was silent. More silent than it’s ever been. I also don’t hear her little footsteps running around the house which is odd. She had started to act weird after the comment she made about the woman at Canes. And she didn’t want ice cream, which she always wants. I start going downstairs to ask Matt and Chris about it. I see them both sitting on the couch watching Sam and Colby on the t.v.
“Fuck you scared me” Chris yells.
“That’s what you get for watching paranormal videos at 9 pm dumbass” I laugh.
“Ok but on serious note have you guys noticed how down y/n looks today?” I ask them while sitting down at the end of the couch.
“I did yea she seemed upset after lunch” Matt adds on.
“She hasn’t come out of her room since we got back from lunch” Chris comments.
“I think we need to go check on her c’mon” I say standing up heading to her room.
Chris Pov:
I open the door to her room to find y/n asleep hugging her frog stuffed animal with one hand, and hugging a picture with her, mom and dad on it.
“Oh baby” I hear Matt say as he sits next to her on the bed. Nick and I following after him.
“Hmm?” Y/n hums as she starts to wake up.
“You ok?” I ask.
“You guys promise you won’t get mad at me for it?” Y/n sniffles as her eyes start to get glossy.
“We promise” Nick says.
“I- I just really miss mommy and daddy” She starts to cry. Matt quickly wraps his arms around her.
“Hey hey it’s ok” Matt quietly whispers to her as her soft cries are muffled by his sweatshirt.
“Why would we ever get mad at you for missing mom and dad?” I ask her as I pick her up her tiny hand and she wraps her small fingers around mine.
“Because I feel guilty that I really miss home when I’m with you guys” Y/n softly says as she snuggles into me.
“Oh sweetheart you don’t have to feel guilty. It’s ok to miss home. You’re still a kid and you’ve never been away from mom and dad for so long. We’re not mad at all cuz we feel like that sometimes too” Matt says while running his fingers through her hair, something that always calms her down since she was a baby.
“So you’re not mad?” Y/n asks.
“Of course we not y/n. We can FaceTime them together later” Nick chuckles and joins the hug.
“We love you always” I say and kiss her forehead.
“I love you always too” Y/n giggles.

𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐆.
SUMMARY: you & jj are sickly in love with eachother. ( inspired from our song by taylor swift. )
PAIRINGS: jj maybank x fem!reader
WARNINGS: possible cursing , tooth rotting fluff.
Tumblr media
“ i was riding shot gun with my hair undone in the front seat of his car. he’s got one hand on the steering wheel , the other on my— heart. ”
John B wasn’t always willing to let JJ take the Twinkie on a whim. He was very protective of what he called ‘his baby.’ But he could only take being aggravated by JJ for so long before cracking— which is what got you sitting in the passenger seat while JJ drove you around the island this Saturday evening.
It was a little past three. The two of you had gotten breakfast , walked the beach , ate lunch— even squeezed in taking out the boat to the marsh. Your cheeks were red from the sun beating down on you , the hot summer air kissing at your skin.
Your hair flew all around you as you leaned against the head rest , letting the wind do whatever it wanted. JJ sat beside you with a peaceful look on his face , resting one hand comfortable on the steering wheel— the other reaching over the center seat to grab your thigh. His ring—clad finger burning at your skin , making your spine feel all ticklish.
“ i look around , turn the radio down he says ‘ baby is something wrong? ’ i say ‘nothing i was just thinking how we don’t have a song. ’ ”
The silence was comfortable as it surrounded the two of you. With the radio playing softly and the wind whipping in your ears , you looked over you shoulder to look at the side of JJ’s face. You couldn’t help your hand from wandering , brushing at the side of his cheek gently. He glanced at you with a smile , letting his cheeks turn a light shade of pink.
You hummed to yourself , a thought popping into your head. Pulling away , you turned the radio down and adjusted your body and seatbelt to fully face him.
The sudden change made JJ look at you curiously , scanning your face for any sign of unhappiness. “Something wrong , sweet girl?”
His nickname for you always made you flush a darker shade of your usual complexion. The reaction making him smirk proudly. “No.” You shrugged. “I was just thinking how we don’t have a song.”
“A song?” He repeated questionably.
“Like a relationship song.” You chuckled. “Like a song that comes on the radio that reminds us of— well us. That makes us get all mushy , gushy and teary–eyed because we’re so in love.” Singing your last couple of words , JJ giggled at you.
JJ thought to himself for a second. “We have our own song.”
You raised an eyebrow at him. “Our own song?”
“Yeah you know—”
“ he says ‘ our song is the slam of screen doors , sneaking out late tapping on your window— when we’re on the phone and you talk real slow , ‘cus it’s late and your momma don’t know. ’ ”
He began talking about the beginning of your relationship and how fun it had been. Coming from different sides of the island , neither of you knew how it would work. You were too afraid to tell your parents , and he was too scared to tell the Pogue’s.
You remembered how you’d dash out the house after school so nobody would ask you questions— screaming “bye” to your mother as you raced down the road where JJ would wait for you either in the Twinkie or on his bike.
Sometimes he’d come after your parents had been to sleep , tapping on your window.
“What in the world are you doing here?” You shouted just above a whisper , holding your light little nightgown to your body whilst looking towards the ground where JJ stood grinning up at you.
“Coming to see you.” He said while holding up a single flower that was clearly from your neighbor. “I haven’t seen you all day and I missed you.”
You couldn’t help the smile that danced its way onto your face as you looked at him , shaking your head in disbelief. “If you get caught , you’re dead meat.” If your parents had heard him— a Pogue of all people outside your house at 12am , it wouldn’t be anything nice.
JJ only shrugged. “It’ll be worth it if you come down for just like a second and kiss me.”
Biting your bottom lip hesitantly , his hopeful face was too hard to refuse. “Give me two seconds.”
The memory caused butterflies to swirl in your stomach. The feeling you had got then , still so real now. His boyish charm had always drew you in.
“Remember when you’d call me and you didn’t want John B to hear you so you just mumbled into your headphone microphone the whole time?”
“I can barely hear you.” You sighed into your phone. Wincing at how loud it sounded when JJ shifted even slightly in his bed.
“’m sorry. I just miss your voice but JB has thin walls. He’ll hear me without ‘em.” JJ sighed , trying his best not to breathe too harshly.
Smiling softly , you nodded your head before remembering he couldn’t see you. “I know , just wish we didn’t have to sneak like this.”
“We won’t always.” JJ reassured you. “After I meet your parents , you’ll meet the Pogue’s.”
“Yeah.” You grinned to yourself. “And I can kiss you wherever I want.”
They were so long ago. Those sweet , little memories. It all seemed like forever since then. You two were just two teenagers love , sneaking kisses whenever you could— your heart beating as fast as it possibly could by just thinking about him. You couldn’t get enough of being with him , your mind always thinking of him and wondering when you’d see him again. You remembered how sick your friends would get after hearing you go on and on about him , whispering all the sweet nothings to your girlfriends about your ‘semi–secret’ relationship.
Perching forward , you couldn’t help but kiss JJ’s cheek gently. “Do you even know how much I love you?” You asked him , wrapping your arms around his neck. The seatbelt hurt your hips just a bit , but being as close as you could to JJ triumphant it.
“I don’t know—” he teased , a loud laugh bubbling from the back of his throat. His genuine laugh always making something spark inside of you. “Yeah , sweet girl. I do.” JJ nodded and let his head fall to the side , resisting the urge to flutter his eyes closed at the soft touch of your fingers in his scalp. “I love you back.”
His words made you melt , falling into him. The air that wrapped around the two of you was light hearted and sweet. JJ’s head held high as he proudly drove you around , passing by random strangers. He’d wave at them with the biggest smile before pointing at you , mouthing “Right?”
JJ’s antic sending you into a fit of giggles each time while you swatted at his arm stubbornly.
“I don’t think there’s any song out there that could describe how obsessed I am with you—” JJ blurted out. “’cus I swear I’m gonna marry you one day.”
Beaming at your boyfriends words , you held onto him tighter. “I can’t wait.”

Got anything for fem!Bruce & Uncle Ozzy?
I love the image of tiny Bryce just. Observing the people around her. Building connections and relationships with particular, precise details that paint abstract memories for her.
She remembers how funny her dad and uncle Ozzy sounded; The spicy rush of their accents, how every word was pronounced with laughter in them,
“Look atcha fatha puttin’ oregano in the bolognese sauce like a fuckin’ animal,— never do that, alright? It’s a sin”
“Stop scarin’ my baby girl, ya fuckin’ ice rat,”
“See, Mr. Doctorate over here don’t believe in hell, — but I seen it. Tastes like oregano.” Their laughter tasted like nicotine, — they didn’t smoke the same brand. Her dad made a point to only smoke light at Alfred’s request, but they never smoked around her
She remembers a potent scent of whiskey they drank over a poker table, where she’d sit on her mom’s knee. Martha always won, and Alfie always accused her of cheating
Her Russian accent would come through, soft but pronounced, “It is not cheating if I have my lucky charm” and she’d press a soft kiss on Bryce’s hair
Uncle Ozzy only smoked knock off vintage Cuban cigars and refused to get anything else. He said the fancy stuff were for tourists
After her parents go under the ground, he only eats pasta with oregano in it
She remembers his car; A classic Maserati, leathered with soft cushions. She’d drive her to and from school, putting her seatbelt on, and tell her stories,
“You listen to me, alright, — Alfred ever wants to ground you, or say he knew better at your age when you get in trouble, you call me, alright? I’ll refresh his memory. “
When she goes to boarding school, he’s there to take her. Bryce still remembers the heaviness of the ride, the way the road seemed to drag on and on. “Listen, slick,”
She still doesn’t know why he called her that; Her mom used to say it was because she was quick witted and always had a smart comment to make.
“Those little shits are gonna make you feel bad. They’ll say nasty, mean shit, cause they’re young, and they think it won’t last. But don’t let ‘em. If they go low, you go lower. Never let people feel like they can step all over ya. Okay?”
Her voice sounded little; Most 10 year olds did. “Okay. Can we get ice cream after you pick me up, uncle ozzy?”
He lied to her only once.
“Sure, kid. I got your back.”
When she’s an adult, she’s too burdened by Gotham, by Batman, by a cross she nailed herself to, to take notice of his absence. Bryce Wayne misses her uncle. Batman and Penguin don’t miss each other at all.
Deep down, she knows he knows.
When she drives him to Arkham, him in the passenger seat, she knows.
“Stop by the drive in, kid. I want an ice cream.”
Bryce says nothing. The ice cream is good.

Human Buddy the 5 year old and Sunstreaker being their new guardian
SFW, Platonic, Familial, Slight Angst, Human reader
IDW
Sunstreaker had known Buddy since they were a baby.
Sideswipe and he were good friends with Buddy’s parents, who worked with the Autobots.
How did they all became friends? They don’t even know.
It was just decided that they were going to be friends one day and no one objected to it.
Buddy’s parents showed him Buddy first since Sideswipe was out on patrol when they came in with the baby.
“Sunny! You’re back!”--Sideswipe
Sunstreaker transforming and stretching one of his arms.
“Yeah I’m back.”--Sunstreaker
Sunstreaker looks at Sideswipe holding something in his servos.
“What you got there?”--Sunstreaker
“Remember the baby?”--Sideswipe
“Yeah? Weren’t they due…”--Sunstreaker
Sunstreakers optics widen.
“No… Sides that not…”--Sunstreaker
Sideswipe just smiles and shows his twin the tiny baby.
Sunstreaker looks at the tiny organic.
“They’re so small…”--Sunstreaker
One of the parents comes to the two.
“I see you’ve met the baby Sunny. You want to hold’em?”—Parent 1
Sunstreaker is about to say ‘no’, but Sideswipe already places the tiny being in his twin’s servo.
Sunstreaker freezes looking at the baby.
He raises one of his digits and raises it above the organic.
The baby, with a tiny bit of drool on their chin, raises their hands to the digit.
They giggle a bit patting it.
“…As long as they don’t ruin my paintjob, I guess the kid’s fine.”--Sunstreaker
“Sure Sunny, sure.”—Sideswipe
Sunstreaker sends him a look before looking back down at the new parent.
“Where’s—”--Sunstreaker
“They’re at home resting. Buddy was quite the fussy kid.”—Parent 1
“Buddy?”—Sideswipe and Sunstreaker
“That’s their name.”--Parent
Sunny loves the baby so much.
Not that he would ever say it out loud.
So does Sideswipe, but he is a bit rougher in dealing with the baby.
Meaning until Buddy gets a bit older, Sunstreaker is the one who carries Buddy, or it has to be under his supervision.
Sunstreaker claims a lot of the time to not care too much about Buddy.
That car seat and booster seat says otherwise.
“Are you sure that the car seat is strapped in correctly Verity? I swear it’s still loose.”--Sunstreaker
Verity annoyingly tugs the seatbelt harder.
“Hey!”--Sunstreaker
“It’s strapped in Sunstreaker. Nothing’s going to move it.”--Verity
“It better not.”--Sunstreaker
“Aww, Sunny you do care!”--Sideswipe
“I just don’t want the kid to smear their insides in me.”--Sunstreaker
Sideswipe and Verity having a flashback to Buddy fingerpainting on Sunstreakers pede and him encouraging their work.
“Sure Sunny, keep telling yourself that.”--Verity
Buddy’s parents started getting on more patrol together.
Which means babysitting.
Of course, there’s other reliable bots around the base who would love to babysit Buddy.
But if Sunstreaker is around, Buddy wants to be around him.
Does this strike up his ego?
Of course it does.
But he loves Buddy so there isn’t much complaint.
As they get older Sunstreaker sometimes takes them out of the base for a little drive around the neighborhood.
Sideswipe tried one time to sneak Buddy off into a drag race.
One time.
When Sunstreaker found out, there was just a yellow blur seen leaving the Ark.
Sideswipe racing with the other contenders.
“Buddy! We’re almost to the finish line! Can you see it? Can—”--Sideswipe
“SIDESWIPE!”--Sunstreaker
Sideswipe looks at one of his mirrors seeing a familiar yellow Lambo coming his tailpipe.
“SIDESWIPE I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME! PULL OVER!”--Sunstreaker
“NEVER!”--Sideswipe
Ironically, Sunstreaker won that race, but he didn’t notice being too busy hunting down Sideswipe.
Miraculously, Buddy was asleep the entire time.
Buddy’s parents soon start going on more and more ‘missions’, leaving Buddy alone with the bots.
As much as Sunstreaker loves babysitting Buddy, he does make a point with Buddy’s parents about being more present in Buddy’s life.
They simply brush the comments off.
Sunstreaker doesn’t like it.
Soon Buddy being in the base suddenly becomes a regular appearance.
Even if Sunstreaker or Sideswipe were out on a mission Buddy would still be let in the base.
The first time no one was let known that Buddy was going to be at the base, they just wandered around.
Sunstreaker nearly had a spark attack seeing Buddy on Teletran Ones desk looking downward.
His paint job was scratched that day.
Sideswipe is very concerned and angry too.
Shouldn’t Buddy’s parents be with them?
Sunstreaker and Sideswipe marching up to the human couple with Buddy by their pedes.
“Aren’t you two forgetting something?”--Sunstreaker
The pair look at each other.
“… I think we forgot to get the yogurt from the store—”—Parent 1
“Your kid! You forgot your kid!”--Sideswipe
“No one knew Buddy was in the base! They could have gotten seriously hurt if we didn’t come in.”--Sunstreaker
One of the parent’s huffs and waves their hand in dismissal.
“They’re in one of the safest places in the world. They’re fine.”—Parent 2
“And they’re FIVE! They need their parents around more.”--Sideswipe
“Again, with this? Look Sides, they’re still breathing and not bleeding, completely fine. And there is always someone on base, so they are never really alone.”—Parent 1
“But—”--Sunstreaker
“Hey, Buddy isn’t your kid Sunstreaker, so stay out of it. We are their parents, what we say goes. Your opinion doesn’t matter.”—Parent 2
Sunstreaker clenches his servos to his side but keeps quiet.
“Now, it’s date night and we have a reservation we need to get to. Buddy’s overnight bag is in the main room.”—Parent 2
“Wait, this isn’t over—”--Sideswipe
“Can’t wait gotta go, thank Sides! Thanks Sunny!”—Parent 1
The human pair races out the Ark in their car, leaving the Lambo Twins with Buddy in their car.
Buddy pats Sunstreaker’ digits.
“Sunny? Where are they going?”--Buddy
Sunstreaker glared at the direction of the couple before softening his gaze as he looked down at the child.
He reaches down and scoops them up.
“Lets just get you too bed Buddy.”--Sunstreaker
They pout a bit.
“I’m not tired.”--Buddy
“Sorry kiddo, it’s bedtime. Don’t you want to see the new room Wheeljack made for you?”—Sideswipe
“… Okay!”--Buddy
Sunstreaker feels his energon boiling.
After Buddy parents bring them back home, the five-year-old is absent from the base.
As much as it feels good for Sunstreaker to get his point across, he misses Buddy being around the base.
Two more weeks pass, while on patrol when he gets a message from Sideswipe about coming back to the base.
“Sunny! You need to come back to base now!”--Sideswipe
“Now? I am literally across the city.”--Sunstreaker
“Don’t care. Come to the med bay now.”--Sideswipe
“Med bay? What is it that I need to come back so quick—"--Sunstreaker
“It’s Buddy.”--Sideswipe
“… I’m on my way.”--Sunstreaker
Sunstreaker is lucky that there were no cops or cameras on the roads he was using.
He is rushing into the base scanning for Buddy in their usual spots.
Reaching the med bay and is greeted with the sight of Buddy playing patting cake on Sideswipes chassis.
Also, by the number of Auotbots in the room.
Optimus, Prowl, Bumblebee, Ironhide and Ratchet are present.
 Sunstreaker gently picks Buddy up.
Buddy is just happy to see all their friends in one room, unaware of the danger they were just in a couple of hours ago.
“What happened?”--Sunstreaker
Prowl steps forward.
“I was out on one of my patrol routes when I saw Buddy on one of the park benches near an intersection.”--Prowl
“Now? At this time? But its almost midnight!”--Sunstreaker
“Hush!”--Ratchet
“As I was saying, I saw a suspicious looking van nearby and took them inside and drove off.”—Prowl
All the bots in the room tensed.
“A van?”--Ironhide
“Oh yeah! There was a big white van! I kind of got scared seeing it, it smelled funny. But Prowl was there so I wasn’t scared anymore. And I saw a raccoon too! It was fluffy.”--Buddy
“I have already have a report on the van if you are wondering.”--Prowl
“I got drive thru on the way here!”—Buddy
Buddy pulls out a little yellow plastic car.
“Look Sunny! It looks like you!”--Buddy
Sunstreaker just looks down at the little kid smiling widely at him.
“Yes, Buddy that’s a nice car.”--Sunstreaker
He pulls Buddy a little closer to his chassis.
“Why were they out so late?”--Bumblebee
“From what they told me, their parents left them on the bench until they came back with the moving van, am I correct Buddy?”--Prowl
Buddy looks a bit sad at this.
“Yeah, they said they would come back. They promised!”—Buddy
Buddy looks at Optimus with slightly teary eyes.
“Optimus do you know where they are?”—Buddy
Optimus comes up to the child and softly pats their head.
“I’m sorry Buddy, I do not.”--Optimus
Buddy looks down a bit.
“Do you remember at what time they dropped you off at that bench Buddy?”--Optimus
“Hmmm… I think it was lunch time. That’s why I was so hungry when we got the food.” --Buddy
Everyone is furious at the news.
Sunstreaker wants blood.
He doesn’t care if those guys were once his friends, he wants justice.
The bots end up keeping a closer optic on Buddy until they eventually fell asleep.
Ratchet takes them to their room on the Ark.
It was now time to talk about what to do with Buddy.
It was clear that their parents had deliberately abandoned them.
“I remember hearing about the adoption system—”--Prowl
“No.”--Sunstreaker
Everyone looks at Sunstreaker.
Prowl raises an optic.
“No? And what do you suggest then? You adopt Buddy?”--Prowl
“…”--Sunstreaker
“Oh Primus your serious.”--Prowl
“Sunny—”--Sideswipe
“I want to, that if the system can even allow it. Let’s faces it, I’ve been more of a parent than they have ever been.”--Sunstreaker
Prime places a servo on Sunstreaker’s shoulder.
“Maybe Verity can look at that.”--Optimus
“Really?”--Sunstreaker
“Really?”--Prowl
“Yes, that if Sunstreaker understands the weight of taking Buddy in and raising them. Then I see why not.”--Optimus
Sunstreaker firmly nods with determination.
“I do.”--Sunstreaker
“Well, if Sunny thinks he can, I’m behind him. Anyways someones gotta look after the two of them.”—Sideswipe
“And someones gotta look after you guys too! I’m in too!”—Bumblebee
Ironhide places a servo on Sunstreaker’s shoulder.
“We’re all behind ya Sunstreaker. You won’t have to raise them all by yourself.”—Ironhide
Sunstreaker smiles at this.
“Well you can all save your voice box with Verity.”--Prowl
Prowl opens one of his subspaces with a data pad.
A data pad with the digital version of adoption papers.
“Prowl? How…”--Bumblebee
Ironhide chuckles.
“Why was that in your subspace?”--Sunstreaker
“Something that you don’t need to know.”--Prowl

Life as We Know It | Part 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You and Seresin unexpectedly become the caretakers of Bradley and Natasha's baby girl, Nicole. Can you two put your disdain for one another aside for Nic's sake? Based on the movie "Life as We Know It"
Warnings: mentions of parental/character death and funeral, angst, arguments, and swearing. no use of y/n. Always check chapter warnings!
Word Count: 1.7k
AN: Here is part three, another sad chapter... It's not my favorite, but I think chapter 4 will be an upswing! Thank you for all the support on this series!
《 part 1 || part 2 》 《 m.list || ao3 》
Tumblr media
The funeral was a blur. You honestly couldn't remember much. What you did remember was the insanity of the gathering afterward. A sea of people, most of whom you had never met, let alone heard of, invaded the house. You and Seresin had spent most of the time talking up anyone and everyone who seemed like they may be a good fit to take on Nic.
When the dust finally settled and you were able to lock the door you were both exhausted. You and Seresin were seated at the dining room table, Nic was passed out in her crib and the fridge was stocked with enough casseroles to last a lifetime.
"WeII…" Seresin was the first to speak, "We could go with the cousins with nine kids. They clearly know how to keep a kiddo alive..."
"The stripper seemed nice." you half-joked.
"Yeah..." Seresin thought through his next few words carefully, "How did she know them?"
You couldn't help but laugh, "You know... she didn't say." you both erupted into laughter.
However, the laughter naturally died and he looked at you with soft eyes. "We're screwed...."
Your head collapsed onto the dining room table, voice muffled by the cold wood, "Yeah..."
Tumblr media
You and Seresin had concluded that while you two may not be the best fit, you were better than foster care. The two of you decided to bite the bullet and gained joint IegaI and physical custody of Nicole Carole Bradshaw.
The three of you were making your way out of the courthouse and towards Seresin's truck. As you began to strap Nic into her car seat, he sank into a squat against the truck, his hands rubbing his face. "That's it? No drug tests, no questions? What if we're crazy murderers who like to eat human flesh? Eh, doesn't matter! Boom, 'Done, case closed.' You'd think they were giving those things away."
"Where is that stupid bunny that she Ioves...?" you rummaged through the car, laying across the floor of the lifted truck, feet kicking outside the door, trying to reach under the driver's seat.
Seresin shifted to look at your stocking-clad legs falling out of his truck. He shook any thoughts he may have had out of his head, "what are you doing?"
"Almost got it..."
Seresin couldn't take any more of your struggle. He grabbed your hips and lifted you out of the truck to stand on your feet. He reached under the seat with ease, grabbing the plush bunny before placing it in Nic's lap. The gesture made her smile, happy coos leaving her lips.
You huffed, blushing a little, "Thank you..."
You walked over to sit next to Nic in the back seat. There was one thing you noticed pretty quickly and that was that Nic loved car rides, meaning she would fall asleep immediately. Once her seatbelt was buckled, she was out like a light, and if you and Seresin were lucky she would remain that way for a while.
When the two of you got home you placed Nic in her crib and walked back downstairs. Seresin was on the couch elbows on his knees and his head resting his hands. He lifted his head when he noticed you coming downstairs, running his fingers through his sandy blonde locks.
You took a seat next to him. Your mouth opened like you were about to say something, but you couldn’t think of the right words. You took notice of the pull-out couch that he had spent the last few nights sleeping on. “Umm. Are you sure you don’t want to stay in their room?”
He didn’t skip a beat before giving his reply, “Positive.”
You could only nod in response. In the few days that you had been staying in their house, you both refused to step foot in their room. That was theirs and it felt wrong to step into their space. That’s how the whole house felt. You both felt that you were out of place, invaders in a house that was yours on paper but felt far from belonging to you or Seresin. Deep down, you hoped that at any moment Nat and Bradley would walk through the front door and life as you had know it would resume.
You took a deep breath, “Would you mind keeping an ear out for her...? I could really use a shower.”
His head returned to his hands as he took a breath of his own, “Yeah…”
The two of you felt like you were walking on eggshells around one another. Especially when it was the norm for small disagreements to develop into a fight. Neither one of you had any fight left in you at this point. So, you took your time standing up from the couch and making your way to the bathroom upstairs.
When the water hit, you so did everything else. You felt as though the world was falling around you. You couldn’t help but sit on the shower floor and let your tears fall.
Tumblr media
When you walked through the door the house was silent. You weren’t sure if that was a good or bad thing, but since the alternative was the rantings of a 30-something-year-old man and/or a crying toddler, you decided things could be worse.
You quickly put groceries away before making it towards the stairs and up to Nic’s room to make sure everything was okay. As you approached her bedroom you swore you heard humming. Once you were just outside the doorway you noticed it was singing.
“Heads Carolina, tails California. Somewhere greener, somewhere warmer.”
What the hell..? You thought to yourself, but you couldn’t help the little smile that graced your lips.
You walked in, leaning against the doorway watching as Seresin sat in the rocking chair, that was placed in the corner of the room, with Nic in his arms. His voice was deep and carried a gentle tone as he sang to the little girl, lulling her to sleep. You felt your heart warm at his affection towards her, “What are you singing to her?”
“Everybody loves Jo Dee Messina. Do you mind?” He looked back at the little girl and began to sing again, “Up in the mountains, down by the ocean. Where it don't matter, long as we're goin' somewhere together.” His deep voice and southern drawl were more prominent in his own exhausted state. Nic didn’t appear to mind, as the lyrics faded to a hum, she was passed out before your eyes.
You watched Seresin lay her gently in the crib. He pushed you into the hallway before closing the door almost shut. “Told you it works.” You couldn't mistake the annoyance in his voice as he brushed past you.
You rolled your eyes shanking your head, “You know… would it kill you to be a little cheerful?
He lets out a sigh, crossing his arms and looking down at you, “Yeah. It might.”
You hated when he was short with you, “Come on, Seresin…”
“No,” he interrupted. “Why should I pretend to be happy? I'm miserable. Just let me be miserable.”
“You know what? I am so sick of aII your depressing IittIe comments.”
He interrupted you once more before you could elaborate, “No, you don’t get it, I ruined my life for her.”
You scoffed, “I'm so sorry parenting isn't the fun-filled ride you thought it was gonna be.”
“Oh, shut up. You're happy because your old life sucked.”
Your mouth fell open a little before you came to your defense, “My old Iife didn't suck!”
“Yeah” he leaned closer getting in your face, “It did.”
You roll your eyes, “You know nothing about me, Seresin! My life was great, my job was great. I made my own hours; I had free time.” You liked your life. You had your routine and it worked for you. You would never admit, especially to Seresin, that sometimes the monotony got to you.
It was now his turn to scoff, “To do what? Blog?”
“Oh my God!” You through your hands in the air, “You are beyond frustrating!”
“You have no idea what a great Iife is. I had a great life!” Seresin was pacing, “I went out all the time! GirIs would buy me drinks, they would throw themselves at me. I haven’t had a dry spell since i was 15!”
“You're disgusting!”
“Sweetheart, they say you can't have it aII, but I did, I had it aII and it was awesome! I slept with whoever I wanted whenever I wanted.”  He turned away wanting to be done with the situation but decided to turn back to face you. “You know, maybe if you got laid you’d be more tolerable. Except to have sex you gotta find somebody who can stand you first.”
“Fuck you…” Before he could speak you spat back, “Of course you think that's awesome! AII you care about is getting with any girl willing to spread her legs for you and then praying she didn’t stick around till morning. God, even Bradley was embarrassed by you but he would never say anything because he was twice the man you are.” You turned to walk away. While you didn’t in the moment, you knew you would regret the words that fell from your lips.
You watched as Seresin’s face fell before turning away from you. He grabbed his keys from the entry way table before making his way towards the garage.
You walked over to him before he made escape, placing your hand on his shoulder, “Hey, don't drive angry and do something stupid! Your kid's parents died in a car-“
He quickly moved away from your touch, turning back to you and pointing up towards Nic’s room, “She is not my kid! She's not my kid…” The second time he said those words was much quieter than the first.
You paused, fighting the tears that threatened to spill over, “Then whose kid is she...?”
Seresin only shook his head in response before walking out the door.
At the rate the two of you were going, it was only a matter of time before you tore each other to shreds, and no amount of love either of you had for Nic would be able to prevent it.

Hi 💖, its my first time writing here, english is not my first language but reading you has help me a lot to improve my english. I love the way you right Peter, and I wanted to ask for a request, I had an eye surgery like 2 weeks ago and my friends been teasing me about it saying that now I watch in 1080 HD (I mean I do now), so maybe you could do something with this and Peter please.
I LOVE YOUR WRITING 🥰🥰
this means the absolute world to me, i am so glad to have you here. congrats on your eye surgery, i looked up videos for this and i died inside, so you're a badass for sure! (in sake of the fic let's pretend reader got some laughing gas and is a little loopy.)
------
“I can’t see. I think they cut my corneas.”
Your boyfriend winces as he guides you out of your optometrist’s office, “technically they did.”
“They did?!” Peter’s hand cups over your eyes when he gets you outside blocking you from the sunlight. You whimper and he nudges you along with a hand on your lower back. “The sun’s gonna hurt your eyes, let me get you some sunglasses.”
Peter opens the passenger door at his aunt's car, before gently guiding you in the seat and immediately putting sunglasses over your eyes. His body leans across yours as he buckles you in, your bottom lip digs into your teeth when you try to place a kiss to his cheek, you moved awkwardly and nearly threw your face into his and hit his jawbone.
“Oh shit, you alright, baby?”
You feel warmth spread to your cheeks, you remember Peter but the details of your relationship were as fuzzy as your vision. Your best friend-slash-crush just called you baby, even after you crushed his face. The excuse of drugs would make this easier.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. You’re cute, but I don’t think I should tell you that.”
Peter gives you a chaste kiss, “‘course you can call me cute.”
Your jaw dropped but your crush didn’t notice, you start to think you’re a lot higher than you thought. The keys jingle in his hand as he pushes your knee further in the car before shutting the door and crossing around to the driver’s side.
While your mind raced about what just happened you jumped when the engine roared to life, Peter clicked in his own belt. “Ready to blow this popsicle stand?”
Your neck swivels, “we’re at a popsicle stand?”
Peter awed at you, “I meant are you ready to go home?”
You nod then hold out your hand as he reaches for the gear shift, “wait, did you kiss me?”
He hummed, “I did, are you asking for another?”
You stutter, “I mean, if you’re offering, but like, you don’t have to if you don’t want.”
“Stop being silly,” his hand cups your cheek and pulls you in for another kiss, when he pulls away you follow and kiss him this time, he holds it for a few seconds before breaking it.
“We do that a lot?” He’s your boyfriend, you’re sure of it.
“According to you, not enough.”
You scoff, “well, duh. Have you seen yourself? If I could like, sew myself to you, I would.”
Peter makes a motion of looking around, “I’m sure May’s got a needle and thread around here.” You followed his movements with a smile, when you peered into the backseat a vivid flashback of hooking up with Peter hit you.
“Oh god! Oh god, you’ve seen me naked!”
You look at your boyfriend and gasp, you point at him in shock, “and I’ve seen you naked!”
A cocky grin slid across his face, “oh, are we connecting the pieces now?”
“You’ve done things to me, Peter.
“Alright, Nancy Drew. Let me take you home.”
Confusion covered your face when he pulled up to your house, he seemed to have driven there on purpose. It’s proven when he puts the car in park and undoes his seatbelt, when he reaches for yours you stop him.
“Why are we here?”
“I told you I was taking you home.”
You pout, you didn’t want to be here.
“But that’s your house.”
Peter’s heart swells in his chest, you viewed him as home.
“I’m sorry, baby. Your parents wanted you home, but I’ll stay over tonight and I’ll come see you until you can get around on your own.”
You smile wide, “really?”
Your boyfriend gives you three quick kisses, “really, really.”
—------------------------
“How’s that 1080 HD vision treating you?”
Three days have passed and you can see cleaner and crisper than ever before, you turn and shake with excitement when your boyfriend appears at your door.
“You know, I didn’t know how you could get even hotter until they sliced my coneras.”
“Is that so?” His hands rest on your hips.
“They gave me 1080 HD Peter vision.”
“Gross. Gimme a kiss.”
He really is so much more beautiful up close.

a blurb on trent and you moving in together and you’re moving across the world to his place.. so the day you fly to the uk you’re all over the place, a bit sad and sobby about leaving your family… you’re happy you’re gonna be living with the love of your life but you still feel a bit emotional.. and trent i think would feel so bad that you’re the one who has to leave and sacrifice a lot for your relationship and he’s being the best, most comforting boyfriend from the airport till you reach your new place
“welcome to our home, baby”
no i actually need a full short fic on this
Welcome Home
Trent Alexander Arnold x Reader
tw-none i don't think
When you saw your boyfriend at the airport, you couldn't help but run straight into his arms, smiling widely at the feeling of being back in your lover's arms. "I missed you" was whispered into your shoulder where he had tucked himself into your neck, breathing in your scent after being apart for some weeks now.
When you let go of each other Trent grabbed one of the bags you travelled with and threw it over his shoulder, gabbing your hand quickly afterward as he couldn't stand to be too far from you. You guys made your way through the airport, your boyfriend keeping his head down to avoid any unnecessary attention.
When you got to the car he packed your cases into the boot before climbing into the driver's seat, giving your hand a squeeze before he started the drive home.
You spoke about different things, your journey, when the rest of your belongings would be arriving, and how excited you were to finally be living with your boyfriend. Trent stole glances at you when he could, admiring the awe on your face as he drove, you had been to Liverpool before but you had never been able to take in the sights properly.
When he pulls into the driveway you're practically buzzing with excitement, unclipping your seatbelt and moving to the back of the car to help take your bags in. You guys get your bags in pretty quickly, leaving them in the hallway to take them up later.
You had been to Trent's house before but you walked around getting yourself familiarised with your surroundings again, you went into what you remembered to be Trent's gaming room to see that it was empty, so you called him in.
"Baby where did all your gaming stuff go?"
"Oh, i moved them into another room so that you have your own room to do what you want with, we can put an office in there for you or do whatever you want."
You were completely gobsmacked, "but baby it's your house you don't need to move your things for me."
"Baby this is OUR house and i'm happy to move my gaming things so that you can have your own space, relationships are about sacrifice and this is your space now as well so don't stress honey."
You pout your lips at his cuteness, giving him a kiss and a thank you before he pulls you out of the room and into the hallway.
You are both trying to figure out a way to get all of your things to where they need to go when you spot your childhood teddy on top of your bag. And all at once everything hits you, the fact that you've moved halfway around the world and you can't just drive down the road to see your parents anymore. You can't just message your brother and ask if he wants to go to lunch with you and bitch about some girl you went o high school with.
And you burst into tears.
Trent looked at you completely startled at your outburst but quickly gathered you into his arms, shushing you and stroking your hair to try and calm you down. You were trying to apologise to him but you couldn't get the words out and so you just ended up sobbing harder into his chest.
After a while you manage to calm down, wiping your eyes and catching your breath, and trying to avoid meeting Trent's eyes as an overwhelming sense of guilt overtook you.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get so upset I think everything just hit me at once," you tried to apologise.
Trent's heart broke at your admission, feeling responsible for taking you away from your life back home, "it's okay to be upset baby, you've made a big move and its gunna be a bit overwhelming at first but i'm going to be here for you and make it as easy as i can okay baby?"
You feel your eyes water again at his kindness as you nod your head to him. He spent the rest of the evening trying to make you as comfortable as possible, cooking you your favourite meal and putting on a film he knows you love.
And you knew that no matter how much you missed your old home, as long as you were with Trent it would all be okay.

i haven't felt the sun in so long
Danielle x SixthMember!Reader
Notes: Reader is a few months older than Haerin | Reader is implied to not have much empathy | Reader's parents are not very nice
(wc: 3057)
Even if it was inevitable, you just wished you weren’t as young when it happened. You were sitting at your coffee table when your dad got the call. Your mother was at work while you sat at home with your father, coloring at the table, watching a movie with him. You remember how loud it was when he dropped his phone and took your hand; his fingers shaking as he grasped your wrist with a force so tight you cried out.
He took you out to the car and started it before you could even get around to the passenger side. You sat down in the front seat and looked at him for approval. You knew something was wrong when his face was ghostly white and he didn’t even protest you sitting in shotgun.
When you’re 12, he would usually repeat, then you may sit in the passenger seat. You understood why he held you to that age when he suddenly backed out so fast you had to brace yourself so you wouldn’t hit your head on the dashboard.
He sped down the road at speeds he would normally scoff at and drove with such reckless abandon that you were forced to grip your seatbelt and shut your eyes. You prayed it would soon be over. When he stopped, you opened your eyes and looked around in confusion. The hospital? Why would you be there?
You got out and struggled to keep pace and follow your father into the doors of the emergency room, “My son! Where is my son?”
“Sir, calm down. Who are you looking for?” A nurse came around from behind a desk,
“My son,” Your father began rambling out details about your brother.
The nurse was silent for a long moment before speaking again, “Mr. L/N, why don’t we take a walk?” His knees gave out as he fell to the floor with a wail.
You’d never seen him cry before that. It was like you were a ghost, watching an exchange that you weren’t privy to. You were an outsider, from that moment on, looking into a family that began to crumble.
Or, more realistically, you were the one on the inside watching what remained of your parents fade away. Your parents divorced; your mother spent more and more time at work and when she was actually home she was either sleeping or arguing with your dad and he was arguably worse. He worked from home, but he didn’t dote on you as he usually would. He withdrew into his home office where he gambled away your brother’s future college fund.
Gone were family dinners, holidays, birthdays, movie nights with your dad, your mom taking you shopping when she came home early from work. When you were finally 12, your parents took you out to dinner and put on happy faces.
Finally, after years of a cold silence covering everything in your home, which realistically felt more of just a place you slept and ate, something felt like it was defrosting. You were just too young to see that they were masks.
And then they told you they were sending you to a boarding school across the world.
At least, on the way to the airport, they let you sit in the front seat.
You didn’t like the boarding school. Sure, you learned, but you never made any actual friends. Soon you began seeing yourself in the same gray bleakness that you saw your parents in. Half of yourself screamed to fix it, the other half kind of just accepted it. And you really didn’t have the energy to do anything else about it.
That was until you were out shopping one day, taking a break from your studies, and came across a street dance crew. People were crowded around, cheering them on and smiling. You hadn’t grinned and laughed like that in years. Their energy was so contagious; you saw into another world where a brother took his baby sister to an arcade to play DDR for hours on end.
You weren’t sure where to even start; all you knew was you wanted to do that.
Sheepishly you went up to one of the members, a girl, after and asked her where she learned to dance. She gave you a card to a dance studio.
That night you held your phone between your ear and your shoulder and turned the card over and over as you called your parents. It was one of your routine monthly calls where you’d ask ‘how’s work? Remember Grandma’s birthday is on Saturday. Did you pay my tuition? Report cards are out, I sent mine to you. How’s the house?’
To which they would reply with ‘have you eaten? Do you need me to send another care package? How’s your allowance? Is it enough?”
It felt something close enough to caring; about as warm as they were since before you were ten. Though this time you hesitated before answering a question, your mother’s this time, and instead asked her about dancing.
She was silent and you nearly thought you accidentally hung up. You pulled the phone away from your ear to reveal that she was still on the line,
“You know you took ballet when you were about three,” You raised your eyebrows, stunned,
“Really? How come I don’t remember that?”
“You hated it. We practically had to pry you out of that damn car seat every time we pulled up to the studio,” She laughed, something you hadn’t heard in a while, and sighed, “It took us two months to finally let up and let you quit,”
“Oh… well, I was talking more like street dancing. Like hip-hop?”
“I don’t see why not. Text your father and send us a tuition fee,”
You really don’t get why you hated ballet so much.
Ok, maybe the competitiveness and all of the expensive shoes and dresses deterred you, but surprisingly you were good at dancing. It really wasn’t all that hard to you. Just letting the beat flow through you and moving along to it.
You made friends too. You expected most people to brush you off once you began moving up groups until you were in the highest group you could get into. These people weren’t your parents, you reminded yourself, and this wasn’t home.
It was when you were fifteen, and goofing off with your best friend, Haerin, in the studio on a break when your instructor butted in. You both were very loudly and obnoxiously singing the words to the song you were dancing to, Looking at Me by Sabrina Carpenter, and she walked over. You half expected her to begin lecturing you both on ‘noise control’ but instead she just nodded,
“Not bad. You two ever considered auditioning?”
“To where?” You asked with quirked brows,
“To a company, stupid,” Haerin’s explanation didn’t do much to help your confusion, “A pop company, like JYP or something,” She hit the side of your leg,
“Actually, I think Big Hit is hosting auditions next weekend, I may know someone to get you girls in,” You tilted your head in thought, “Let me know by tomorrow if you girls want in,”
“Ooh~ She has connections,” Haerin whispered to you once your teacher had walked away from you both. You laughed and lightly kicked her in the side.
You didn’t think much about it until that night. You laid on your bed, and like most nights, without sleeping that much, just letting thoughts go by in your head. The image of you standing on a stage singing and dancing in front of a crowd caused you to scowl at first.
Call it from your withdrawn childhood, but the thought of the attention of thousands of people on you made you nervous. It was something to overcome when maybe twenty people watched you dance in class. The fact that you would have millions of people commenting on your every move? Not something you really wanted.
But Haerin, oh Haerin, being the most annoying friend she could, nagged you every second you were together. It worked, as it did most times, and you went with her to audition. You huffed the entire way there and complained about every step, mostly about the copious amounts of paperwork, and when you were finally in the audition waiting room you thought about leaving several times,
And then the first girl stood to audition. And she tripped walking to the stage. You covered your mouth under your t-shirt and tried not to laugh audibly. Maybe this wouldn’t be that bad.
Hundreds of girls had to be there, and a lot of them looked like you. Though you kept this to yourself, you thought you danced better than most of them.
When it was finally your turn you cued the music with a smile to the judges. It was a fake one, but they seemed to smile back with genuine looks of hope. You danced to Loco by Itzy and smiled at the cheers of several of the other girls. You could only catch glimpses of yourself in some of the mirrors, but you knew you were doing great.
One you were done you turned to the judges and bowed before thanking them,
“And thank you, Y/N,” One of them smiled,
“You said you danced with a studio?” You nodded and told them the name and teacher,
“Oh! So you’re in Group One?”
“That’s right,”
“Very nice,” They all wrote a note of something on your paper, you hoped that you didn’t say something wrong, “Thank you Ms. L/N, we’ll let you know,”
You bowed again on your way off and hopped off the stage before hastily getting back to Haerin,
“You did so well!” She squealed. You only rolled your eyes,
“Yeah, I know, I know,”
You refreshed the page again with wide eyes. You were in shock. You actually made it. You were officially a Big Hit Entertainment Trainee. A text then came in from your dad. You groaned and rubbed over your eyes. Right, you kind of forgot to tell them you were in for a bit of a career change.
“I’ve never had a younger sibling before!” Danielle squealed while putting her arms around you and Haerin. Haerin just groaned however you quickly squirmed out of her grip and complained. You weren’t sure what to think of Danielle and your other members. Sure, you were older than Haerin and Hyein, but Daneille, Hanni, and Minji were all older than you.
You didn’t like what you were being reminded of,
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” You grumbled in English,
“Sourpuss,” Danielle laughed. The others joined in. You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms as the others began rolling around on the floor from their laughter. You turned away, but cracked a tiny smile.
“New Jeans has taken the industry by storm!” One of the MCs, Nayeon, smiled at your group. You, being in the front, smiled back and let Minji speak about your EP that had just been released.
You were excited and, for once, really happy. Everyday you came to the studio buzzing with energy. Obviously most of your energy was put into dancing rather than singing, but it was all worth it for the praise you were showered with from choreographers.
Your members began calling you “mirror” because of how fast you could pick up the choreography you were given. You mastered attention in a day and it took you just short of two weeks to practically master the entire EP.
Perhaps it was your solitary childhood that really helped you. It was almost a superpower for you to lock into yourself and pick out everything that needed to be changed. After all, you were responsible for only you, something you’d been telling yourself since that fateful date five years ago.
Then again, it was almost a superpower since that also caused countless late nights, which Minji always chastised you for returning to the dorms so late. Perfectionism, something you undoubtedly got from your parents, what a blessing and a curse,
“Y/N? You in there?” Hanni poked you shoulder,
“Oh? I’m sorry, I kind of spaced out,” You giggled,
“Ah, I do the same all the time, don’t worry about it,” Yoongi assured you,
“You know, now that I think about it,” Nayeon grabs you hand and pulls you near Yoongi, “You and Suga-Oppa look like siblings,” You members begin to chatter with agreements. You suddenly felt overcome with something you really couldn’t put your finger on. The unusual feeling transformed your expression to a flicker of a grimace before you forced a smile back onto your face,
“My little sister,” He cooed, poking your ribcage. You stepped back and frowned,
“Hey!” You put on a pout. Your members and the MCs laughed at you before continuing the interview.
You don’t remember the last time you’ve cried this hard. In fact, you can’t remember the last time you’ve cried at all.
Ignorance; why would he say such a thing? You felt like you were going to vomit from crying so hard. You let yourself enjoy the rest of the night before nearly collapsing when you got home. It was late, everyone’s probably in bed. You put a hand to your chest and felt it heave up and down as you choke out another sob.
You don’t remember much about your brother. You could only enjoy so much with an older brother with a six year age gap. You were still whining about dolls and toys when he got into the accident. He was preparing for university and in secondary school.
The small moments you treasured were few and far between; you suddenly felt so much guilt weighing on your chest. For someone you lived with you never really knew him. You let your head rest against the wall and wipe your tears with your sweatshirt sleeve.
In fact, after everything that happened you were more focused on your family, you never really knew yourself. You were your brother’s sister; your parents' daughter; a friend; a student.
Most of your childhood it felt like you mourned yourself more than you did your brother. Your parents were so obsessed with not forgetting him that he was everywhere. In your childhood house, he was more alive than you ever were.
They kept stock of his favorite foods, always played his favorite movies and television shows, made sure they visited his room at least once per day, and had photos of him in each room. Your house was just a museum of his things, like your parents were expecting him to walk through the door again.
Of course, he never did. You wished he did, but not for your sake.
It was only once, you caught it. You were making lunch on a Saturday when you were eleven. It was a ham and mustard sandwich. He used to make it for you every weekend and you just continued on making it. It wasn’t ‘in memory’ of him or anything, it was just a routine that you preferred to keep more than anything else.
You looked up from your sandwich and your mother was in the kitchen. She was looking at your food, you just thought she was hungry, but then you met her eyes.
There was such a deep disappointment swimming in them. It was gone almost as soon as you saw it, but she looked at you like she was expecting something. Like you broke a window and she was expecting you to fess up. But you didn’t break anything.
She was looking at you like you were supposed to be him. Like she wanted you to be him,
“Y/N?” You look up. You nearly expect your mother to be there again, with that shameful look in her eyes.
But it’s Danielle. And it’s more of a concern rather than shame. She doesn’t say anything else. She only slides down next to you and wraps you in a hug,
“I know, I know,” She rubs your back as you sob into her neck, your cries shaking your body against hers,
“No, you don’t,”
“I do, I-”
“Danielle, my brother’s dead,” You raise your head to see her reaction. Her eyes are wide and her mouth is ajar and struggles to form words. If you weren’t so upset, you would probably laugh at her expression, “And no one knows,”
In some vain attempt to get her to leave you scoot away from her and wipe your eyes once again. But Danielle, because she’s Danielle, grabs your wrist. You meet her eyes and they have such an understanding in them that it scares you so much more than anything your parents could ever express.
You’re so used to the cold, to the solitude that you struggle against her embrace,
“I’m sorry. We compared you to Yoongi. We shouldn’t have,” You try to mutter something else out but she continues, “I had no idea about your brother, Y/N,”
Neither did I, you think coldly,
“How long have you been holding this in, sweetheart?” The name makes your heart beat faster than you’d like to admit,
“Years, unnie, years,” You repeat, feeling more tears prick your eyes. She hugs you again and you somewhat settle down.
There was something off about Danielle to you. Whenever you were close to her there’d always be some alarm in your head that’d go off. You weren’t used to her mannerisms.
You’d gone from your parents, who you had barely been anything to, then to Haerin, who’d been a source of comfort in the sense that you could just sit by her and have a mutual understanding of what was going on. You’d never been outright comforted in so long.
But, maybe now it was ok to let yourself go. Bask in the warmth of another instead of relying on your own iciness,
“There you go,” Danielle whispers in your ear as you settle on her lap, “Take a deep breath for me, honey,” Just as she asked, you take in a breath and shakily let it out.
You had a long way to go and even more to learn about yourself. But maybe with at least someone on your side it wouldn’t be as bad this time around.
(AN: I really don't like how this turned out but I might possibly write a part 2 to this)

Chapter Thirteen
Chapter Fourteen: Living The Life
“Babe, can you drive?” Josh chuckled as he stumbled along with Brynne out to the parking lot.
“Yes, sweetheart, of course,” she agreed, taking her car keys from him.
“Thank you!” Josh chuckled, awkwardly running to the car.
“You’re welcome, my love.”
They had just left the bowling alley after meeting Ray and his new girlfriend there. Brynne had offered to drive, considering she knew Ray would probably ask Josh to drink with him, but Josh had insisted on driving there. But naturally, he had asked Brynne if he could drive her car, considering he loved driving her car. He thought it was the coolest car on earth.
The two of them got into the car, as Josh sat in the passenger’s seat, drunk giggling as he put on his seatbelt, or at least tried to. Josh had only had a couple beers, but he was quite the lightweight.
“Your place, yeah?” she asked as she pulled out of the parking lot.
“Can we go to your place?” Josh asked her. “I don’t wanna go to my parents’.”
“My place?” she questioned.
Although Josh had picked her up from her own house on many occasions, they had never actually hung out at her house. Josh thought it was strange that he and Brynn were dating, but he’d never actually been inside her house at all.
“Yeah, your place,” he nodded. “Why? You don’t want me in your house?” he asked sadly, making a pouty face.
“No, no,” she promised him, remembering that she was dealing with tipsy Josh. “It’s not that, it’s just… I like your place.”
“Really?” he scoffed. “But my parents…!” he slurred.
“Yeah, they’re nice,” Brynne laughed. “I don’t live with my parents… I don’t even talk to my parents.”
“Can we go to your place?” Josh pleaded. “I wanna see your place. Please…?”
“Yes, of course we can,” she nodded, driving in that direction. “You don’t have to ask.”
“Yay!”
Brynne just laughed, shaking her head as she drove. Her own place was a bit further of a drive, but they were there before Josh fell asleep. As they got out of the car, Brynne observed that Josh had mostly sobered up.
“Okay, here we are,” she announced, parking her car in the driveway.
“Your place is so nice,” Josh stared as she unlocked the door.
There was a fountain not far from the door, a very modern, minimalistic sort of thing that just looked like water being poured over a dark wall.
“We haven’t even been inside yet,” she scoffed, opening the door for him.
Josh stepped inside as she closed the door behind them, in awe of her home. The ceiling in the foyer was at least ten feet tall, with a crystal chandelier hanging above. And the floors were marble. To Josh, her place looked like a palace. There was a long staircase leading upstairs, and a hallway that led to the rest of the downstairs.
“Hachi machi,” he murmured. “This place is insane!”
Brynne just smiled, still never sure what to do when people complimented her house. Sure, she’d worked for all the money herself, but she still never knew how to respond.
“Come on. Bedroom’s upstairs,” she smiled.
“Do I take off my shoes?” Josh asked in bewilderment.
“Baby, I don’t care, the floors are hardwood.”
Josh followed Brynne upstairs, to the biggest bedroom in the house. She had a huge amount of space, a beautiful dark wood bedroom set, and a set of silk sheets. He was in awe of the walk-in closet, which looked like its own tiny bedroom.
He wandered into her bathroom like a lost child, discovering a beautiful, high-tech sort of shower, along with a luxurious jacuzzi tub.
“Whoa…!” he gasped.
“You want me to run us a bath?” Brynne asked him, reading his mind.
“Please,” he nodded, taking his time to look around.
He returned to the bedroom, sitting down on her California king-sized bed as she took off her jacket, stripping down to her underwear. As always, he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
“Your place is… amazing,” he told her.
“Thank you,” she smiled softly.
“They really do pay you well,” Josh remarked.
“Yeah. Kronish is great,” she agreed, heading into the bathroom to get a bath running.
Josh watched as she turned the water on, waiting for the jacuzzi tub to fill.
“Bowling was so fun,” he laughed. “Man. Ray’s girlfriend is really nice.”
“Yeah, she is,” Brynne smiled. “It was really sweet when she told me how pretty I am… I had to make sure she knew I thought the same of her.”
Josh began taking his clothes off, nervous about where to put them as he stood in his underwear in the bathroom.
“You can just set them on the counter,” Brynne told him, as she walked in, long strawberry blonde hair pinned up in a clip.
He set the clothes on the white marble counter, gulping when he saw who he’d just recently realized was his girlfriend. He knew he’d never quite get over how she looked naked, not even in a sexual manner, but just out of sheer awe. She slowly stepped into the bathtub, sighing as she threw her head back. Josh slid his underwear down before climbing in and joining her, sitting across from her in the warm water.
“Why don’t we do stuff at your place?” he wondered.
Brynne felt guilty as she tried to explain, watching as he tried to come up with his own rationalization.
“Do you not want me here?” he wondered. “Cuz, I could understand that, I mean… I’d probably make a mess of this place.”
“No, no, it’s not that,” she sighed, trying to explain.
“I mean, your place is awesome,” he scoffed.
“I know,” she sighed, “That’s the problem. My place has the jacuzzi tub, and the art I paid someone to buy for me, and the silk sheets. It’s a total bachelor pad.”
“What’s wrong with that?” Josh wondered, rubbing at his beard.
“It’s… It’s a good place to bring a date. It’s a good place to hook up,” she thought.
“What’s so bad about that?” Josh asked with a smile.
“I like your place better,” she said exhaustedly.
“What’s so cool about my place?” he wondered.
“It’s nice! And your parents are nice! Your place has more personality. My place is just meant to look good,” Brynne expressed.
“I think your place has personality,” Josh said softly. “I think it looks like you because it looks good.”
She smiled, appreciating the sentiment as she tried to rephrase her thoughts.
“Yeah, but… My place is for dating. Your place is for marriage,” she pointed out.
Josh looked at her curiously, a surprised smile on his face as he processed what she’d just said.
“You… You’d marry me?” he asked her.
“Yeah, I think so!” she nodded. “Some day.”
He smiled with immense emotion in his eyes, understanding what she meant now.
“I’m… I’m glad we both feel the same way,” he murmured, watching her as she moved so that she was next to him.
“I love you, Josh,” she said as he wrapped his arm around her.
“I love you, Brynne,” he said for the second time, grinning as she leaned in to kiss him.
He thought life couldn’t get any better than this. He moved his hand so that it was on her cheek, slightly reaching up into her hair as his lips mingled with hers for a moment.
“God, you’re just… You’re just so beautiful,” he whined affectionately as he pulled away.
He stopped to look at her, to admire her, taking in her perfect physique beneath the bubbles, and her beautiful face. Brynne sighed, cupping his face in her hands as he smiled up at her with the widest eyes she’d ever seen. He genuinely couldn’t stop smiling; he looked giddy just to be looking at her.
“You really are the sweetest, most handsome boy in the world,” she whispered.
“I love you so much,” he sighed.
“I promise I love you more, Josh Futturman,” she said with satisfaction.
“Brynne?” he piped up, looking up at her with pleading eyes.
“Yes, sweetheart?”
“I want my mommy,” he mumbled, nuzzling his head into her body.
“Oh, come here, baby,” she said, turning her body so that he could lay his head on her bare chest.
Josh excitedly rested his head chest as she held him, neatly stroking his hair as he let out a happy whine, never wanting to leave that position for the rest of his life.
*****
Brynne tried to tip-toe and move around her bedroom quietly as she woke up for work. But as soon as she had gotten out of bed and carefully replaced her warm body with a pillow for Josh to lay on, he had woken up.
“Baby?” he sat up sleepily. “Where you going?”
She could tell he was only half awake.
“Go back to bed, baby, it’s your day off,” she whispered.
“No… I wanna say ‘bye’ to you,” he protested through a yawn.
She just sighed in amusement, making the most of the situation. Fully aware that he was watching, she turned on the bathroom light so he could just barely see her, playfully stripping down to nothing in front of him before shutting the bathroom door. Josh sighed dreamily as he fell back onto the bed, smiling up at the ceiling.
“I have the best life ever.”

The Unheard
It’s getting dark. The steady rumble of the roaring highway and the indistinct drone of her parents’ conversation should have lulled Sarah to sleep, but she can’t relax, because something is following their car.
It’s careful to stay well back, but she can see it through the stovepipe pines, a long-legged pale thing slinging through the oil-soaked woods like a man made of taffy. She raises herself in her seat and stares at it through the window, just so it knows she’s watching. Maybe she can scare it away.
Her father puts on his turn signal and drifts two lanes closer to the woods just as their pursuer puts on a burst of speed. For an instant it breaks onto the verge, reaching for their rear bumper with outstretched fingers. Sarah bolts up and screams, causing her father to swerve and swear, and a horn blares past them as Sarah’s mother twists in her seat to scold her.
“There’s something after us!” Sarah cries. “Drive faster, Daddy!”
“You had a bad dream, Curly-Q,” says her father, “and the speed limit is 70 miles per hour.” He flips the cruise control on as cars and trucks whiz past them.
Sarah stares through the back window. Their pursuer has paused on the verge, gazing after them with wide, white, lamplike eyes. When Sarah meets its gaze it jolts and scuttles into the woods, where it resumes its loping gait. It’s faster than they are. It’s going to catch up.
On the horizon, a rotating truck stop sign gleams through the encroaching night, and Sarah has an idea. She’ll be safe there, in a wet bathroom with no windows or exterior walls. “Mommy,” she moans, “I gotta throw up!”
“Oh, Jesus. Are you sure?” says her mother. Sarah has never been carsick before.
In response, Sarah bends over and retches. It’s an admirable performance, but instead of flooring the gas and peeling away up the exit toward the safety of the lights, Sarah’s father brakes and slides off the highway, juddering over the rumble strip and coming to a stop beside the trees.
It’s dark now.
Sarah’s mother opens the door and unbuckles her from the car seat. She tries to cling to the seatbelt, crying, “No!”
“Not in the car, baby, come on,” says her mother. They are stalled and alone on the short dry grass beside the road, sacrilegiously still as headlights thunder past. Sarah hates this nothing place. She knows instinctively: people aren’t meant to linger here. When her mother sets her on the grass, she starts to cry, and then she decides to run. It’s the plot of a four-year-old mastermind: if she is moving, she cannot be caught.
Her sudden bolt takes her parents by surprise, and she’s into the trees before they can catch her. A beer can crunches under her pink plastic sandal and pine needles nip between her toes, but there is no undergrowth to ensnare her; the highway fumes have sterilized the woods.
Then it looms out of the dark in front of her, Sarah’s pale pursuer. She screams and tries to pivot but slips in the straw and falls. She can hear her parents calling her name, but it isn’t her mother who smooths her curls from her face with a warm and sticky hand.
“Shhhh,” it says. “They mean well, but they will only hurt you.”
Sarah wants to scream again, but she’s too paralyzed by terror to do anything but whimper. In the darkness this creature is little more than a smear of reflected light. It has too many limbs and bends to register as human, in spite of its hands. Dead vines knotted and repurposed.
“I am a messenger,” it says. “Seeking you since you were born. Will you hear my message?”
Sarah gathers all her courage, and then she spits on it.
“Go away!” she shouts. “Go, go, go away!”
It draws back at once. Its white eyes put out a faint light that dims and flares as it blinks. “So easily you make your choice,” it whispers. “I wonder if you’ll remember it, when the time comes to regret?”
Sarah finds a pinecone and throws it. The messenger draws back, then nods at her. Quick as that, it’s gone, sliding into the dark just as Sarah’s father comes around a tree and scoops her up.
Back at the car, her parents scold her and argue with one another as they buckle her into her seat. Sarah shivers with relief and fear and says nothing. Her mother gets behind the wheel, and their little blue van stumbles back onto the highway and joins the endless exodus to nowhere.
Sarah watches woods flit past the window, and for the first time they seem empty.

Holding my fingers in my ears our daughter has been crying for hours almost through the whole evening. I had already changed her an hour ago and she had taken a nap. Laying in the bed the doctor said I was on bedrest longer since I had the baby earlier than the due date. Foosteps approached the garage door when Sheldon knocks three times opening the door quickly. By the look on his face he covers his ears with his hands seeing the baby laying beside me on the pillows. "Could you please get her to stop crying. It's unbearable!" Throwing my head back on the pillows I grunted wanting to sleep for a few hours. "Sheldon believe me I'm trying!" Foosteps approached behind him where he moves out of the way for Georgie to come sit at the edge of the bed picking up his daughter in his arms. "Come with me. I've got an idea, darlin'."
Sitting up in the bed I groaned raising my brows at him with a nervous look. "Georgie, the doctors said I'm on bedrest." He tilts his head to the side handing Aurora over to his brother who made a weird face. Georgie offers me his hands with a small smile replying. "Lisen, we're not gonna do anything crazy. Just gonna get our daughter to stop crying like a terror." Before I can say anything he picked me up carrying me over my shoulder making me squeal uncomfortably. "Georgie. Put me down!" He walked outside carrying me to his truck in the driveway, sitting me in the passenger's seat. The front door opened where I see Missy now carrying her little niece still wearing her clothes from baseball practice this morning. "Sheldon was holding her like a bomb. She won't explode." She hands her to me then climbing in the backseat ready to go somewhere. Finally Georgie got in the driver's seat starting the truck.
"So how exactly is this - urgh supposed to get her to stop crying!" I have to basically shout over my daughter because she's screaming like a banshee. Georgie turns a corner starting the drive to who knows where. "Because I'm taking you to get ice cream. Every kids doesn't cry when they get to it." He shrugged his shoulders with a cheeky grin. Bouncing our daughter on my leg lightly I object to his solution of giving her sugar, even though I want some sleep so bad. "I don't think giving her sugar is gonna get her to stop crying. Remember the night we kissed Missy was on overdrive from the candy." Georgie lightly brushed at the mentioning because it seems so long ago. That this one night became like a distant memory, almost like a dream to us now. None the less we parked at Dairy Queen where Missy rushed to my side wanting to carry her niece, she makes silly faces that actually made her giggle instead.
Finishing a table Missy and I sat down until Georgie came back with ice cream cones for each of us. Georgie ends up sitting Aurora on his lap letting her lick some ice cream off his thumb until I started to see her eyes closing meaning she was getting tired for the night. Biting off some ice cream I nearly spit it out from how happy this makes me to finally get some peace. "Georgie, look - it's working." He holds a finger to his lips shooshing me with a grin. Missy and I shared the same look in relief of the quiet. But all three of us knew why she was crying a fit lately. Unfortunately their parents are still getting into arguments occasionally that would go through the whole house. Even in the garage we could hear them from the kitchen and it makes me sad, I know they love each other as much as Georgie and I do.
Pulling up into the driveway Georgie put the car in park not hearing fighting when we left in the day. Unbucking my seatbelt I look behind me seeing Missy holding the baby in her lap where they're both peacefully sleeping. Georgie rests his elbow on the seat flashing me a genuine smile whispering. "She might have almost blown my ears out. But ya gotta admit she's adorable when she's sleepin'." Intertwining my hand with his freehand I whispered back hating to wake Missy up so she could sleep in her bed. "I still can't believe we made that Mr. Texan." Georgie carried his daughter in his arms as I changed into one of his tea shirts getting her settled for bed in the crib Sheldon had designed through science facts for us. Climbing underneath the covers the garage door opens where Georgie stepped in carrying a TV dinner tray with two plates of food for us both sitting it in front of me. "Oh baby, you didn't hear to cook for me. Wow this smells delicious." Lifting my nose up the sweet smell of his Meemaw's brisket filled my senses.
"My Meemaw brought this over since Sheldon told her my parents were fighting. It's not that impressive I just warned it up in the oven." He replied shoving some bites in his mouth. Picking some up with my fork I grin eating it slowly. I haven't had this since Aurora was born and I must say I missed the flavors. We finished eating where he put the tray on the floor flipping on his side to face me. Laying on my side I face him where he draped his arm over my waist, tugging me to lay my face in the crook of his neck. "Georgie, I've been thinking about something we missed out on today?" I lift my head up tilting my head to the side where he raised his brows. "What's that Y/n?" Pressing my lips onto his he smirked against the kiss. Resting a hand to the side of my face while I twist my fingers into his hair tugging it lightly. "Goodnight Mrs. Y/n Cooper." He mumbled closing his eyes when I mumbled back snuggling close to his warmth. "Night Mr. Georgie Cooper."

A Nightmare At Green Lake 02 - Baby Teeth
Radio: Thank you for the letter, Emily. Now we’re bringing our driver friends the latest weather forecast. Ohio is having a sunny week, with a comfortable level of humidity and zero chance of rain.
Tooth Fairy: Sorry, I forgot to switch off the inbuilt radio. Sit tight and put on your seatbelt. Hold the hands of people sitting next to you. If necessary, close your mouth and clench your teeth. You can do as I said, or not. I was mainly talking to them.
Horropedia: Yes, madam.
Sonetto: Yes, Ms. Tooth Fairy. Are those little winged elves still nagging you? I remember you were troubled by them as early as when I was in school.
Tooth Fairy: They are still there. They have never left there. The good thing is that they can’t distinguish lies. They spend every second of their life overhearing me and totally believe what I say. As long as they hear me say “cover your mouth and clench your teeth”, they will never attack you.
Horropedia: We all owe Mr. Campbell a big “thank you” for this. All of his teeth were stolen when he was with Ms. Tooth Fairy. That’s when humans finally realised how vindictive and revengeful those “little things” are. They stepped across the world for the cure. Eventually, they found a solution.
Sonetto: Mr. Campbell? Who is this person, and what happened to him?
Tooth Fairy: He is my brother. I am also a Campbell, Ms. Campbell. While he is a Mister. We shared a roof when we were little. I was cursed for eating a tooth fairy. It and its fellows swore to steal all my teeth. At first, they did it. I ate nine fairies and lost eleven baby teeth. My parents soon found out. They ordered a special tooth brace for me, in case I lose all my teeth and become a horrific old lady.
Horropedia: In their second attack, those tooth fairies failed to steal the teeth from Ms. Campbell, so they rushed to Mr. Campbell. His teeth disappeared in a flash, and he never had one since then. People said it was the curse of the tooth fairy. Just like in books, the flying human-like critters are bigoted. Once gained, they will keep the love and hatred at heart forever.
Sonetto: I’m so sorry, Ms. Tooth Fairy. I shouldn’t have asked.
Tooth Fairy: Don’t worry sweetie. My brother now has his own teeth. He lives a stable life. The past is in the past. And, I don’t really think he was cursed. I’ve never heard the tooth fairies swore at him. Neither have I found any mark on him that can be detected by arcanum. Instead of being cursed, what he suffered is more likely to be a “congenitally missing tooth”, a term defined in human medical science.
Vertin: I know that case. I just never thought Mr. Campbell lost his because of this. None of my classmates or instructors ever doubted the authenticity of such a curse when they gossiped of such things.
Tooth Fairy: SPDM is a community of a bunch of young arcanists and several instructors. For those kids, a curse is more common than a disease diagnosed by human medical science.
Sonetto: As a result, they neglected what they can’t comprehend and only learned the story from a one-sided perspective. Soon enough, rumours started to spread …
Horropedia: But that was a curse, a trouble that you can’t easily shake off once you’re put under. People could hardly forget that. If tooth fairies could curse his sister, they could also curse him. Everything came naturally. That was it.
Sonetto: Kids were ignorant for lack of knowledge, yet adults were ignorant for their cognitive inertia … In a story where truth and fantasy are mingled together, it is hard to tell which is which.
Horropedia: After all, life is not a show. You won’t have a narrator to warn you of the dangers ahead …
Old Madman: Go away! Leave here!
Vertin: Careful!
Tooth Fairy: *cough*
Sonetto: Timekeeper, Ms. Tooth Fairy … *coughs* Are you alright?!
Vertin: We’re good. Don’t worry. Cover your mouth and nose. Get off the car.
Sonetto: Is everyone okay? Did somebody get hurt? Timekeeper, you …
Old Madman: Go! Go away! Get out of my woods!
Sonetto: Aaaahhh!
Old Madman: I heard it, I heard it … I’ve heard the God’s will … Oh God, I will guide your children, I will guide them … guide them … away … from the demons … uggh … from the land of demons!
Sonetto: Dilated pupils, disordered speech, and a body temperature of three degrees higher than the normal level. Presumably, he has taken some stimulants or substandard potions.
Tooth Fairy: His sanity has been taken away. We need to knock him out.
Tooth Fairy: He fainted out. Problem solved. But … my car broke down. We have to walk there.
Vertin: No problem, Ms Tooth Fairy. I took the map with me before we got out. But there is smoke coming out of your car. Is it alright?
Tooth Fairy: Don’t worry, Vertin. My brother bought it an insurance. The brokers will soon contact him.

Be brave for me
(Parent Kiri x child reader scenario)) ( TW description of car accident and broken bones))
“Alright, Lil rockstar you ready go?” Asked Eijirou while helping the child put on their shoes. “Mhm, I’m ready daddy.” They smiled widely and stood up fast once their shoes were done. Eijirou picked them up and carried them out to the car. Placed the six-year-old in their car seat and buckling them up. Kirishima then got into the driver’s seat and started the car. Singing along to ‘Riot’ by 3 days grace, Eijirou tapped and drummed on the steering wheel while the little one head banged in the backseat. Things were great, the sun was shining, the temperature was warm, not a cloud in the sky. The roads were clear not a spot of traffic it was smooth sailing on the way to school. Just as Eijirou made a left turn, he tried to hit the breaks! He let out a scream and braced his quirk for the impact.
There was a car heading right for them on the wrong side of the road! When the car smashed into them, their car flipped and slid across the road. Everything went black!
When Eijirou’s vision came back at first everything was blurry then, became clear. Everything around him was smashed in, and upside down. Glass was on the roof of the car which was now acting as the floor. The airbag had deployed, windshield shattered in a series of cracks.
The steering wheel had him pinned, and the seatbelt clung harshly against his skin. He couldn’t move without having to almost cut himself on jagged parts of the car’s interior. Then he heard a small voice call out.
“D-daddy” Then he remembered his kid was in the car with him,  that drove his urgency to get out. He needed to get to his child now! With this incentive in his head, he could feel the adrenaline pumping.
“I’m here buddy!” “wh-what happened Daddy?” “We got in a bit of a reck kiddo, but daddy’s gonna get us out. So just stay calm ok.” Eijirou says to reassure his kid and keep them as relaxed as possible. But it was also a sentiment to keep himself calm as he figured a way out.
“Kiddo, does anything hurt? Can you move?” Eijirou was unable to turn around and see his kid from the position he was currently in. So he couldn’t see if anything was on top of the child just yet. He needed to evaluate his surroundings before acting.
“M-my left arm hurts, I c-can’t move it. A-and I feel dizzy, daddy.” This was the final straw. Kirishima forced his arms to move, firmly grasped the steering wheel, and shoved it off him as hard as he could. Once he got the steering wheel off of him, he ripped the seatbelt off of his body. As soon as his body was freed he prepared to fall onto the roof. But now he was able to see the damage done. The seat in front of the kid was on top of them. The left side had caved in on them.
He had to get to them! “I’m coming for ya Rock star!” He called out hoping his kid was still conscious.
Trying to crawl through the car proved difficult but became even worse when something crashed down on his right leg. Letting out a gasp and a scream of pain, Eijirou was trapped once again. “D-daddy, what happened?” Eijirou didn’t want to worry the child knowing they were already scared. “Nothing baby, daddy is just struggling to get himself unstuck, I’ve got it. I’m gonna get us out.” He said with promise laced in his words but with the way the item was crushing his leg it was not looking good. Still, he couldn’t give up, and he wasn’t going to let whatever had a hold of his leg stop him. Twisting his body to turn he saw it was the dashboard that had collapsed on his ankle. Lifting the heavy hunk of metal, the redhead pulled his leg away as soon as he had space. He stifled a whimper, not wanting his child to know he was hurt.
Making his way to the back of the car, Eijirou let his kid know he was with them now.
“Let's get you outta here” Eijirou was starting to feel immense pain as he was practically ripping the car apart to get them out. When Eijirou got an opening he held it open for the kid to crawl through once he’d gotten them freed from the car seat entrapment. On the other side were paramedics and civilians. As soon as they were out of the vehicle the paramedics took them.
Eijirou was taken by a separate group of paramedics which he didn’t exactly like. Especially when he heard the kid crying for him. He didn’t want them to be separated without explanation so he asked if he could talk to his kid for a minute. “Alright make it quick we don’t know if there’s anything vital going on with either of ya,” They said helping him over to the other medic team. “Hey there Lil Rockstar” He started now that they were in the light he could see the damage. Cuts all over their face and hands, red marks and bruises on their head. “D-daddy, wh-where are they t-taking me?” “They’re taking you to the hospital, I’m going too but. We can’t be in the same ambulance ok.” that only seemed to upset the child more, they were terrified and didn’t wanna be without their father. Eijirou understood this fear, it was scary for him too.
“Sweetheart, we won't be apart for long ok, we’ll be in the same hospital. They’ll let me know exactly what’s going on with you and will let me go to you as soon as they can. Just gotta be brave for me, okay?”  With tears streaming down their bloodied face they nodded giving eijirou a weak thumbs up. With this plan in place, the two were taken by two different ambulances. Following the same route to the hospital, Eijirou couldn’t help but be anxious the entire ride.
Constantly thinking about whether his kid would be okay. Hoping nothing major happened and they could go home today.  Arriving at the hospital, Eijirou was further evaluated, and things weren’t the worst. The only bad thing was his ankle was broken. Thankfully surgery wasn’t needed the rests were just cuts, bruises, and mild head trauma. But each minute they spent testing for things and checking things over felt like hours for him. He just wanted to check up on his kid. He hated not being right there
When thirty minutes rolled around a nurse had come to Eijirou’s bed.
“Hello Mr Kirishima, I’m the nurse who is working on your kid.” Eijirou was happy to hear back from someone.
“Is everything okay, will they be alright?” Eijirou questioned in a panic, the nurse smiled and nods.
“Yes your child will be alright, they do have a bit of a concussion, a broken arm and bruised ribs. But those will heal on their own.” Eijirou’s anxious expression turned into an excited one.
“Can I see them, please!?” Eijirou almost forgot he was hurt and tried to get out of bed himself but was quickly stopped by the nurses who gently pushed him back down onto the bed.
“We can bring you to them, just be patient sir, we don’t want you injuring yourself further.” Eijirou sighed but nodded at this, he couldn’t wait to see his kid. Eijirou was helped into a wheelchair and wheeled over to his child’s hospital bed. On the large white hospital bed was the little six year old who still looked anxious and tired. Poor kid had been through a lot and was pretty banged up from it. “Hey there sharky” Hearing Eijirou’s voice the child looked up, eyes wide and smile flashing brightly. They started making grabby hands at him.
“Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!” This time there wasn’t a hint of fear behind their words, more like joy. Ecstatic to see eacother, Eijirou was wheeled close to them giving them enough space to hug.
“Hey there kiddo, I’m right here. See I told ya they wouldn’t separate us for long.” They nodded and nuzzled against Eijirou’s chest.
“I was brave just like you said daddy, even though it was still scary. I was brave just like you!” Chuckling sweetly and giving them a kiss on their bandaged forehead. Eijirou praised them for being so brave.
“I’m proud of you kiddo, so proud!” “Is daddy okay?” They asked pointing to the cast on Eijirou’s foot. He nodded and explained. “Yeah, daddy broke his foot earlier but I’ll be alright, just a few cuts and broken bones. Nothing I can’t handle!” The child giggles and kisses Eijirou’s cheek. “You’re the best pro hero ever!”

Welcome Harper Marie Shea
Summary: Harper Marie Shea is born.
Trigger Warning: Pregnancy, labor, swearing, fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As of right now, on this bleak day in March, I am sitting on my recliner, at 39 1/2 weeks pregnant. Colin and I have already painted the nursery, and we chose a simple Mother Goose and Beatrix Potter theme.
The infant seat was already loaded in the car. My hospital bag sat in the backseat, next to the infant seat. I was going through the list with Colin for what seemed like the millionth time.
Tumblr media
"Colin, do we have my pajamas in the hospital bag?" I asked.
"Yes, honey. I also have the socks that you're knitting in there, Harper's baby sweater, baby booties, and her baby blanket in there. I also made sure that you have a change of underwear, a bra, a cardigan, the tennis balls, your toiletry bag, and the bamboo washcloths so you can shower", said Colin, doing his best to reassure me.
"What about my toothbrush, flossers, mouthwash, and toothpaste?" I asked.
Colin kissed me lovingly on my forehead.
Tumblr media
"Honey, that's in you're toiletry bag. Along with your Chapstick, Vaseline, aluminum free deodorant, and the book you brought to read," Colin said.
I fiddled with the silver locket that I had since I was fourteen. The locket was now on a longer, sterling silver chain, and it now had a picture of Harper's first ultrasound in it. Above it, sat my gold eagle that was the emblem on the Polish flag.
To say that my hormones were raging right now was a massive understatement. My hormones were all over the map. Tomorrow, We go to Dr. Espisito for yet another appointment.
I looked at the crib, and I remembered when Colin was trying to build the crib.
Tumblr media
"Son of a whore!"
"Colin! Watch your language in front of our daughter!"
"Sweetheart, you're not the one who is building the crib so our daughter has a place to sleep", Colin said. "Where are the fucking English instructions? Not everyone speaks Spanish!" yelled Colin.
"I can help you with the Spanish instructions, honey. You're looking at someone who speaks Spanish fluently", I said, trying to comfort him.
"Okay! You can help me if you just interpret the Spanish instructions"! Colin sighed.
I sat down on the rocking chair that Colin's parents had gotten us for the nursery.
"This rocking chair has seen every boy. It has seen every boy spit up on it, it has seen that every boy was rocked to sleep in it. It will serve Harper well." my future mother-in-law Esther said.
"Why haven't you built the crib, dear?" said Esther, looking saddened by the site of the cribless nursery.
"It hasn't arrived, yet, Esther. Colin will build it as soon as it arrives." I said, trying to get up. Esther helped me up.
"Being seven and a half months pregnant is NO picnic, Esther. My back is constantly hurting, my boobs are constantly sore, and I'm peeing constantly!"
"Dear, why don't you sit down for a while, and I'll fix you something to eat," said Esther.
Now, the crib has been built. I remember kicking Colin each part, while I was also interpreting the Spanish instructions. Colin's frustration had turned into annoyance. I was ready to call in one of his brother's or his dad, John, to finally build this damn crib.
I never heard so much cursing coming from a guy, outside of their favorite sports team losing.
Tumblr media
Colin helps me into the car so we can see Dr. Espisito. He puts my seatbelt on, helping it get over my 39 1/2 week belly. I rubbed my belly, and Colin smiles at me lovingly.
"In a few days, we'll finally meet Harper," Colin said. "I can't wait to meet you, Harper. Mommy and Daddy love you very much", said Colin, and kissed my belly, where our daughter had just kicked.
Jen, the nurse, checked us in, and I had to pee, again, for what seemed like the millionth time that morning.
"That only means you're getting closer to delivery". said Dr. Espisito. She looked at the ultrasound, and everything looked normal.
"I wouldn't be surprised if you went into labor well before your due date, Eva. You're already at two and a half centimeters, and baby Harper is already in position. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you went into labor later today. Have you started having any contractions yet?" asked Dr. Espisito.
"I had a few today, but I thought it was just trapped gas", I said.
Colin backed me up. "What should we do if she starts having them again? They start and only last a few minutes, and they come about every six hours, and then subside. I've been giving her water, and rubbing her back to soothe them", said Colin.
"Those are Braxton Hicks contractions. It's just her body preparing for giving birth", said Dr. Espisto. "Just keep giving her a glass of water when they happen, and keep massaging her back", said Dr. Espisito.
Colin and I left the office, and went about our afternoon, as normal. Colin got me settled on the couch, put my knitting bag next to me, and put my feet in his lap.
"It won't be too long now, honey. I just want you to give birth to our strong and healthy daughter", said Colin, rubbing my feet. Dickens sat right by me, and refused to leave my side, even when Colin wanted to take Dickens for his evening walk.
I had fallen asleep, and after a few hours, I awoke with a start. Colin was next to me. I felt a very sharp pain, and I knew something was wrong.
Tumblr media
"Colin! I think the baby's coming!" I screamed in pain.
"Oh shit! I'll call Dr. Espisito!" said Colin, trying to soothe me.
"Okay, Dr, Espisito said to call her again when you're water breaks, or your contractions get closer together. Since this is your first one, we'll start timing them."
Colin started timing my contractions. After several hours, I felt something cold and wet between my legs.
"COLIN! MY WATER BROKE! CALL DR. ESPISITO!" I screamed.
Colin called Dr. Espisito, and told her that my water broke.
"Dr. Espisito said to come in. She'll meet us at the hospital," said Colin. Colin grabbed the keys to the car, and helped load me in. Colin called his dad and his brothers, and they escorted us to the hospital.
"Just tell us when the baby's born, Colin" said Sean. "Eva, we love you, we're glad you've become a huge part of our family, and we can't wait to see baby Harper," said Sean, helping me get out of the car, and into a wheelchair that the security guard provided.
The nurse triaged me in the ER, and sent us right up to labor and delivery.
Colin helped get me into the hospital bed, and the nurse checked my vitals, and set me up on a fetal monitor.
Dr. Espisito entered the room, did her standard greeting, and checked to see how far along I was dilating.
"39 1/2 weeks is still early, but it's not too early. You're considered full term, and this just means that the baby is ready to be born." said Dr. Espisito.
"COLIN SHEA! DON'T EVEN COME NEAR ME! I FUCKING HATE YOUR FOR DOING THIS TO ME! YOU FUCKING BASTARD!' I screamed, as a contraction washed over me.
"I know you don't meant that, but that's what got us here in the first place!" said Colin, trying to lighten the mood.
Tumblr media
I couldn't help but laugh. Colin was right, I didn't mean that. The doctors and nurses heard worse.
I felt another contraction wash over me.
"Okay, honey, breathe. Breathe." Colin said, soothingly, trying his best to soothe me. Colin was rubbing my back with a tennis ball. Earlier, he realized that he had left my hospital bag in the car, and had to go get it.
Dr. Espisito came in to check how far I was dilating, and she realized that I was at ten centimeters.
"Okay, we're going to get Eva into the delivery room, and she requested a water birth, so we have the birthing pool set up. All you need to do is get her in there, and get behind her, " said Dr. Espisito.
Colin got into his swim shorts, and got my bathing suit out to the side. Colin helped get me into the birthing pool, and Dr. Espisito was in her scrubs that were covered in waterproof plastic.
"Okay, Eva, on your next contraction, I need you to push through it. Don't breathe through it, push through it, said Dr. Espisito.
Tumblr media
My contractions were now three minutes apart, so on my next contraction, I started to push.
"That's it, honey, you're doing great", Colin said, reassuringly.
I rested until the next contraction hit, and I pushed again. I continued the process for two hours, and then before I knew it, Harper was born.
"Is she born?" I asked, while resting.
"You are now the proud parents of a healthy baby girl," said Dr. Espisito. The nurse raised Harper above the water, and placed Harper on my chest, the umbilical cord still attached.
"She's beautiful," I said, tearing up. "Mommy loves you so much, baby Harper. You're the most beautiful and amazing baby," I said to Harper, trying to calm her between her cries.
"Hi, Harper. Daddy loves you so much, princess. I'm so happy you're here, and I never thought I'd love anyone as much as much as I love you and you're mom. You bring us so much joy, Harper," said Colin, trying to soothe Harper. "You're the most beautiful baby girl I've ever seen," Colin said lovingly, while trying to soothe Harper's cries.
Tumblr media
The nurse clamped the cord, and told Colin to cut it. Colin cut the cord, and Harper was cleaned up, and her nose and mouth were cleared. Dr. Espisito rubbed the bottom of her foot, and Harper took a breath, which turned into another cry.
Tumblr media
"Shh, shh, you'll be reunited with Mama, soon, little one. Shh, we just need to get you weighed, measured, and tested, said the nurse, trying to be soothing, but Harper wasn't having any of it.
Dr. Espisto had delivered the afterbirth, and that was not a pretty process. As I was delivering the afterbirth, Harper was measured, weighed, and Apgared.
I was in my bathing suit, and Colin was helping me dry off. He laid out my panties, and laid out my pajamas, along with my cardigan.
"Baby Harper is perfectly healthy. She weighs 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and is 19 and a half inches long. Baby Harper is a strong one, she scored in the normal range when we Apgared her.
Baby Harper was crying, and wouldn't stop until the nurse gave her back to me.
"Shh, shh. Harper, shh. I know, honey. Shh." Harper's cries were slowly subsiding. Colin and I were softly singing to her, and that calmed her. We were singing her some Beatles songs, including Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, but we changed Lucy to Harper. She was calming down, and had fallen asleep while I was holding her.
"Happy birthday, Harper," I said softly, and I then handed Harper to Colin, so he could hold her for a while.
"Hi, Harper. Daddy loves you very much. We're glad you're finally here," said Colin, who was now holding baby Harper, and he put one finger in her tiny palm, and she grabbed it, and refused to let go.
I had fallen asleep, and Colin laid Harper in her little cradle. Harper's cradle had her name, Harper Marie Shea, with her birthday, March 4, 2010, her weight and measurements, and the time she was born, which was at 9:05 a.m.
The day after, Harper Marie Shea was ready to go home. I had my hospital bag packed, and Colin was waiting for me to come out in the wheelchair. Dr. Espisito had wheeled me to Colin, with me holding Harper. She was already wrapped in her baby blanket, and I had dressed her in a white and pink onesie, with matching baby booties that I had knitted, along with a matching baby sweater.
Colin drove us home, while I napped in the front seat. Harper was sound asleep, and refused to wake up. Colin got the car seat out, and brought Harper in.
Dickens walked right up to Harper, and laid his head right next to her in the car seat.
Tumblr media
"Dickens, that's the new baby. You've been protective of Harper from day one," I said, letting Dickens know that it was okay, Harper was here.
Colin and I let Harper sleep for a while longer, and Colin and I crashed on the couch. Colin kissed me lovingly on my forehead.
Tumblr media
After a while, Harper woke up with a loud cry. I realized that she must have been hungry. I scooped up Harper, and pulled up my shirt, undoing my nursing bra. I released one of my breasts, and held Harper to it. Harper latched on.
Tumblr media
"Is everything okay?" Colin said, rubbing his eyes.
"I need a bottle of water. Right now, Harper's hungry", I said as Harper refused to let go of my nipple. Colin got me a bottle of water, and opened it, and gave me a sip.
I burped Harper, and then I repeated the process with the other breast.
"Somebody must be hungry. Are you enjoying your lunch, Harper?" I asked, as Harper continued to feed.
I burped Harper again.
"Okay, Harper. Let's give you the grand tour," I said, holding Harper to my shoulder, and rubbing her back. I kissed Harper on the top of her brown locks. She had Colin's hair, but my brown/black eyes.
"This is the living room. Mom and dad watch a lot of movies in here, and we watch a lot of TV. You'll love family movie night, Harper. It will be mostly Disney movies, and the original Star Wars trilogy. You'll very much love that one. Next is the kitchen. Mom and dad eat in here a lot. You'll eat in here when you get much older," I said, planting another kiss to Harper.
"Next is the dining room, and we have a lot of holidays in here", I said. "You'll be in here when we have Easter."
I took Harper to the back of the house and went upstairs, stopping at one of the downstairs bathrooms along the way.
"Dad and I pee and poop in there a lot," I said. "You're lucky. You still need a diaper."
I took Harper to the back of the house. "That's Mommy and Daddy's room. We sleep in there, but don't enter without knocking. You don't want to see Mommy and Daddy wrestling," I said, bouncing Harper in my arms.
"This is the bathroom. Daddy and I shower and take a bath in here, besides peeing and pooping in here," I said.
"This is you're room, Harper. You'll love it, I said, looking at the book of nursery rhymes and the Beatrix Potter book of stories that I had since I was a baby. I even pulled down my old stuffed Paddington, which didn't fit with the theme, but it was sentimental to me. I had that Paddington since I was a baby.
Just then, Harper spit up. "Oh, Harper, did I bounce you too soon?" I said, looking at the little puddle of baby puke that Harper had thrown up a few minutes ago, that was now on my shoulder. Luckily, the burp rag caught all of it.
Colin came in, and saw what happened. I gave Colin Harper, and I changed my shirt. I also had to pee, so I did just that.
"Harper, spitting up on mommy isn't nice," scolded Colin, but couldn't help smiling. I couldn't help but laugh. That's one of the many things that I loved about Colin.
As Colin held her in the crook of his arms, and sat down in the rocking chair. He started to rock Harper, and was talking to her when Harper knitted her brow and wrinkled her nose, and started to cry.
"What's wrong, Harper?" Harper did it again.
"You need a change, don't you?" cooed Colin. Colin pulled out a diaper and the wipes, and laid Harper down on the changing table. Harper was grabbing at Colin's hands every time they got close enough. Colin was busy changing Harper's diaper, and trying to get a smile out of his daughter.
"I have successfully changed a diaper!" cheered Colin.
I had come in, seeing what Colin was cheering about, and I couldn't help but laugh. My lips crash onto his, and I told him how much I loved him, and how he makes even the most mundane things more enjoyable.
