omg long post below bc apparently I have opinions: YES!! THAT'S WHAT'S SO INCREDIBLE ABOUT THIS... Jack has been genuinely diligent about keeping things on-topic in his streams, and hasn't brought up any of her other Stuff, or anything Personal. Despite the fact that she kickstarted the whole thing by making it INCREDIBLY personal and attacking his physical appearance... His goal has been to call out and bring attention to content theft, and he's stuck with it. Dude's also cared about this for years, and she's not the first content thief he's criticized. He just hates the way that freebooting has become so accepted-- to the point where youtube praised her for "coming up with such creative video ideas"? Hey! Ew! Dude wasn't trying to get her cancelled though, there was no smear campaign of her character. He's been rallying to get her to CREDIT the creators that she relies on for all of her content. It would set a precedent for all other "react" channels on the platform for one of the biggest channels on youtube to actually give credit where credit is due. Or, god forbid, get permission first? It's not hard. It's already done the job of making some other people who do "react content" self-analyze whether or not their content is transformative, and to maybe care about crediting the creators they rely on for their genre to work. There is a way to make this kind of video that isn't so slimy. And making fun of her lackluster-at-best reactions is so far from even being a big deal. Bc she literally does just sit there and say nothing. Plus, his goal has a clear End built into it: if she started shouting out the creators she takes content from, and put links directly to their pages in her video descriptions, the job would be done! That's what he's asking her to do. Real bare minimum stuff. It legit would have been easy to steer away from the content theft and to also talk about her history of lying to her audience! her ghosting a dying kid with cancer who was a big fan of hers! the fact that she's been arrested for armed robbery! her history of transphobia! He would also get more clicks that way, which is what she claims is his sole goal- to get more clicks. I'll bring it up though! She's been a terrible person the whole time, and has kept a steady course of manipulating her audience of young children and/or, let's be completely honest, simps- into thinking that she's a Wholesome creator. (And now, into thinking she's an innocent victim.) All of the actual effort put in by her has gone toward optics, not the content she puts out. A carefully constructed online persona, for one, but also literal appearances. Jack totally can't say this, bc she already went off the handle and said the only reason he doesn't like her is bc he Hates To See A Woman Be Successful. But I can! That was a cheap shot for her to use that argument when, for once, it's not applicable! Much the opposite, even! Dudes online wouldn't go to bat for her if she didn't look the way she does. And it weakens any case she'd have against him by making baseless claims like that. She banks hugely on being an attractive woman to get her clicks/following. A massive amount of effort is put into her appearance. The makeup, the lip fillers, putting her hair in little pigtails, the chokers and tube tops, the big non-prescription Nerd Glasses, the thumbnails where she has her mouth open in That Expression?

I don't even have to say anything. But making a weird facial expression and putting your hair in pigtails aren't moral failings. Showing up at someone's real life home (whose address you shouldn't even have access to), filming the front of their house at night, doxxing them to your audience of millions of people? Because you were mad at them online? That is fully scary! Yeah girl I'm pretty sure that Jack can press charges! There is absolutely no way to take the moral highground now that she's literally stalked him, and doxxed his home. She tried to goad him and Erin (Jack's wife) out of the house, also, which creeps me out even more-- because what was she planning to do? The fact that she's been arrested for violent crime before does pop into my mind! lmao! Jack was streaming a game at the time that she was outside his home, and these clips of him, his friends, and Erin reacting in real time to what is genuinely a scary situation have been taken down in case he needs to use them in legal action. Shit is legitimately serious!

Ever since he was young there was always someone beside him. His mother, his father, his sister. They were around, he never had to look that far to find them. He could rely on them.

They were not alone.

A black mist slowly emerged from the toxic green void. Barely taking shape, it swirled around, like a snake trying to find a perfect nest to rest at. The black mist gained a few colours. White. Then green. Then an arm. Another. A face slowly emerged with very familiar features. They knew that nose. Those cheekbones. That mouth. Those eyebrows.

The mist opened his eyes. The green void stared into their souls from them. As he opened his mouth, static filled their ears. It hurt. Their hands flew to their ears to cover them, but the noise wouldn't escape them. It became louder.

Then a flash of light and the air became filled with tense silence. Slowly they opened their eyes, and there stood... their best friend? He looked just as confused as they did. They wrote everything that happened off as a nightmare and went about their day as usual. It must have been a fluke after all.

They agreed to not talk about it. (It came to bite them back later, and they indeed talked about it.)

He was in his bed and it was the middle of the night. A sudden chill went through him, the window became foggy. He sat up. A blue mist escaped his mouth. His eyes darted around the room.

Boy am I lucky I don’t have to count. Lyra thought to herself. Another sharp cut, this time over her cheek again.

“Hey! Eyes on me Thýma, you know how it goes.”

“Yeah, yeah, eyes on me, I want to trigger all your senses.”, she mockingly quoted him through gritted teeth. Voice carefully composed.

“Exactly.”, Adam agreed darkly before slashing a shallow cut over Lyra’s throat. He saw Lyras eyes widen in surprise and her bound hands trying to reach up to her throat. He grinned.

“Damn Adam, I thought you wanted to keep me.”, she joked half-heartedly.

“Oh I do. Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”

But the sadistic glint in his eyes did nothing to convince Lyra of that.

Her body jerked against the ropes holding it as Adam drew the knife over the entire side of her legs. She could feel her eyes widen again; something is seriously off here! She thought through the haze of pain.

She looked away from the knife and up into Adam’s face. And it was practically beaming with excitement and sadism. Sure she often saw him sadistic but this…By now there was barely any space left to cut so she hoped it would be over soon. As soon as possible. Please. Suddenly Adam’s finger curled under her chin and hastily lifted it up. He raised the knife and outlined the contours of her face with the blood tip. No doubt leaving bloody lines.

“You’re so beautiful!”, Adam exclaimed, not even noticing the way Lyra stared at him in absolute perplexity. “The way you scar so perfectly! The blood on you! The way you breathe when you try to control the pain! So beautiful! Perfect! I want more!”

Lyra breathed out the tiniest whimper but Adam blessedly didn’t hear it in his excitement. Lyra closed her eyes and tried as well as possible to let the pain fade out into white. Adam threatened her, to keep her eyes open again and so she did. Until he finally had to go.

“Alright! This was exhilarating! But sadly I have to go!”, he said cheerfully and tossed her a disinfectant spray and a bundle of bandages before untying her, “you got this, right. Great. Byeee.”

Lyra collapsed onto the piles of the pool. Her whole body burned and she was still actively bleeding from a bunch of wounds. She pushed herself up against the basin wall and tried to be steady. She reached for the spray and grit her teeth hard before applying it. When she had disinfected all the wounds as well as she could she tried to bandage them. The smaller or less complicated ones weren’t a problem but the still bleeding ones were a problem. She sat there for God knows how long, bleeding through bandages over bandages. It’s not stopping. This isn’t normal. Right? Or is it? I don’t know. Adam was never so…careless. She thought with a shiver. The movement only pushing out more blood. She couldn’t try to tell the time with the light because it was nighttime. She could only have said that it got from dark to even darker. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Am I going to bleed out here? I mean surely not yet but…If the bleeding continues like this…Is that it? Again? Okay no, I never died. But a lot of times nearly. She thought back to those times. The near drownings had always felt peaceful in her memory. The possible-car crashes not so much. At least she finally would be free. What then? Unfortunately she would probably go to Asphodel. She wasn’t a hero, so no Elysium and hopefully she didn’t deserve Tartaros. Be that as it may, finally…no torture anymore. She tried to gather her mind and changed the blood soaked bandages again. There was a growing mountain of bloody bandages in front of her. And blood everywhere on her. It was so hard to stay conscious. And even thought Lyra had never really cared very much about her life having it slip away from her again felt so…weird. So…sad…after all. But that’s how it was. She wasn’t going to yell for Adam. Would probably not work anyway. This was freedom…She thought before losing consciousness.

anyway yay!!! i think it's great you want to get into the game, and i'd love to help you :3 as for whether or not you should play vanilla first or modded, well some mods have stuff that only happens in the first year or the story kinda depends on it having always been there, so it can be a bit immersion breaking to have like. an entire ass town spawn out of the blue a year in. but on the other hand, some mods alter the vanilla game itself and change the story, but they're not really invasive changes and i'd argue it actually makes it better so i guess i'd reccomend playing modded straight up. if you want to experience the vanilla story you can make a different save state and remove the mods when you're playing that save state and you can pretend it's an alternate universe kinda. that's what i do :p

oh yeah!! before you install mods, you're gonna need to install smapi you can't use mods without it. here's a text guide on how to install it, and here's a video guide in case you would prefer a video demonstration. a good place to get mods is nexusmods! they update pretty frequently and have some cool stuff c:

and you know what? i'm gonna give you some personal mod recommendations. stardew valley expanded, ridgeside village, east scarp, and lunna astray are all what i like to call dlc mods. they add story, new characters, new mechanics, food, clothes, all that good stuff! and they're all pretty compatible with each other, so there won't be any weird glitches. other mods, like juna, always raining in the valley, zuzu city, adventurer's guild expanded and mister ginger are a bit smaller, but still fit in that category as well.

there are also mods that improve the technical aspect of the game, like raffadax complete production. it adds a massive amount of weapons, food, and crops, but no real storyline or marriage candidates. there are also cosmetic mods that change how the characters look, like diverse stardew valley and seasonal outfits-slightly cuter aesthetic, and clothing mods for the player character, like get glam, so it really depends on what you'd prefer! you can use some mods, one specific type of mods, or all the mods! the modding community is so diverse and you're bound to find something you'll like eventually. have fun mucky!!!

finally listening to The Magnus Archives and. tumblr and previously twitter has mislead me on what the plot of this podcast is.

#I'm sure we get more into the character-driven stuff later on #but the first few episodes are actually just episodic horror stories that are kinda connected #unlike the dimension-hopping and wear.. fear allegiance stuff I've seen in fanart #I've heard it's really good though so. we'll see! #the narration is certainly great even if the horror stories are a little underwhelming so far #like. they're fine. but they're just regular 'creepy' short stories #hoping it goes the nightvale route of episodic except for when it isn't and it gets really plot-heavy #but 'oh noooo my neighbour got replaced! he had creepy notebooks and was paranoid and then I watched an arm enter his window!' #wasn't really what I was expecting #at least the narrator characters for the short stories are interesting as well
