ALSO something I notice is that when a fic refers to 'jiang wanyin' and its not in lwj/a stranger pov, the author either loves him and wants to emphasize how mature and respected and powerful he is (HA) or hates him and wants to emphasize how evil and dangerous and alienated from wwx he is. they're both wrong he is jiang cheng always and forever amen

so I found a podcast (off-book) where the hosts improvise and perform an entire musical and I said to myself surely theres no way. surely that's impossible. but I just listened to one of the episodes, and not only do they do exactly that, they also take questions at the end in character as the various cast and crew members they pretend to be

I was trying to make an 'innocent adult minor' joke on the wwx poll but the thing is he literally was 17 or 18 max in that scene, he's been abused for years by his foster mother, as a child he's expected to take responsibility for the jiangs as their servant, he did just get done fighting in a horrifically traumatizing war in which he lost most of his family, friends, home, gc, and (in his mind) his future as a cultivator and his future with someone he really cared about, and also he's literally an orphan so if he pretends to be a toddler sometimes to get comfort and affection in a way that means he doesn't have to be vulberable then who cares

I want to watch D20 but I'm not rly into hs stories and so I jumped to unsleeping city and while it IS really fun, I think I'm biased towards the no-frills editing of critical role, which just let me immerse myself in the story that the players and the DM were telling together. these sound effects added in are just weird and distracting to me, and superfluous since the DM himself is making those sounds already. and I don't love the art for everyone either.
