It was Halloween, one of your favorite holidays of all time. Costumes, parties, tricks and treats, what wasn’t there to love about it? But your most favorite thing about Halloween was that 2 years ago today you met your boyfriend, Eddie Munson.
Two year ago:
You were new to Hawkins, had needed a change of scenery from where you were previously living so you moved into an apartment with your friend from college that had grown up in this little town. It was cute, quiet and a nice change from the city that you were living in, but there wasn’t a lot to do so you were extremely excited when your friend suggested going to a Halloween party at her friend Nancy’s boyfriends house.
You loved to be creative with your costumes, put time into designing them and making them absolutely perfect. To you Halloween was more than wearing lingerie and throwing on a pair of animal ears, and being a total nerd you often opted to dress up as characters from your favorite books. That is why this year you decided to dress up as a Hobbit. Frodo infact, and you had even convinced your friend to dress up as Samwise.
With only a weeks notice you went to craft stores, thrift shops and Halloween stores to get all of the pieces of your costumes. What you couldn’t buy you could make, you were a crafty girl.
At last, your costume was complete, and not to toot your own horn , but it looked fairly authentic, right down to the pointed ears and the hairy Hobbit feet.
You rushed home that Friday night excited for an actual night out and excited to get the opportunity to wear your costume after all of your hard work.
You stepped out of your bedroom in all your glory, cape billowing behind you , hair Hobbit feet slapping across the floor only to find your roommate standing by the door wearing her coat over a pink nightie and bunny ears.
“ What the hell? Where is the Samwise costume I made you? I thought we were coordinating!”
You roommate looked you over, biting her lip.” You did an amazing job with the costumes, they are so good, but Hon- I want to hook up tonight and that Sam costume is not going to get me laid. I’m sorry.” She sighed.” Why don’t you go put on something slutty, I have cat ears from last years costume you can use-“
“ No, I’m just going to wear this, I worked hard on it-“
“ But Honey, it’s not going to get you a piece of ass tonight! There are going to be so many attractive males there tonight, it’s Steve Harrington’s party! Only the elite of Hawkins will be there !”
“ Than how the fuck did we get invited?” You asked.
“ Because his girlfriend Nancy invited us. I will introduce you to everyone when we get there.”
You sighed, not as excited about the party now that you were going as a solo Hobbit, but whatever. The thought of hooking up hadn’t really even been on your radar, you were just looking forward to meeting new people.
“ Alright. Let’s go.”
*****************************************
Steve Harrington’s house was amazing, no wonder he didn’t move out on his own. From what you understood his Parents were never home, always traveling for business , staying in other properties that they owned while they did so. They must have been loaded.
The party that you walked into was loud and chaotic, the house near bursting with people, all in costume, all feeling good , and much to your horror all staring at you as you plodded through the house, your roommate introducing you to many people along the way. They were all nice, Steve Harrington, whom you had to admit looked absolutely delicious in his flightsuit and aviator sunglasses, Nancy , a tiny petite little thing was dressed in a black leotard with cat ears and a tail. They were both extremely sweet and funny, much to your surprise, you had kind of expected Harrington to be a pompous asshole but that wasn’t the case at all.
Your roommate was right, the house was full with scantily clad, attractive people and there you were in your cape and fake pointed ears. Everyone had no idea who you were and kept complimenting you on your ‘troll’ costume. You felt like such a loser.
You excused yourself to go and find a drink, time to get shitfaced. Despite everyone being very friendly you felt totally out of place, maybe a couple of drinks would get you out of your shell. You made your way to the kitchen which was surprisingly empty at the moment with the exception of a very, very attractive man , sitting up on the counter top , popping pretzels into his mouth and watching the festivities. He wore devil horns atop his head of long wavy brown locks, held a pitchfork in one hand and had his pointed devil tail draped behind him across the counter.
You looked down, now you really felt like a fucking dork.
“ Whatcha looking for Sweetheart?” You heard him jump down from his spot on the counter. “ What’s a pretty girl like you doing so far away from the Shire? Looking for a little adventure, Doll? Or should I say Frodo?”
Your eyes snapped up and met his, and Jesus, he had the most beautiful chocolate brown eyes you had ever seen. “ You,uh, know who I am?”
He smiled. “ Of course I do, Darlin. I’m not just a pretty face you know.” He chuckled. “ I know a Hobbit when I see one, pointed ears, cape, hairy feet- which are amazing by the way- did you make make those?” He took a red solo cup and poured some punch into it then handed it to you.” I’m Eddie by the way.”
You beamed.” Thank you. It’s nice to meet you Eddie. “ You introduced yourself.” I did make them, as authentic as I could.” You shrugged.“ I like to be creative with my costumes.”
“ I admire the fact that you went with a Hobbit, it was bold- from one of my favorite series of all time.Usually girls just use Halloween as an excuse to dress like sluts, I mean I don’t have any complaints, but I like your out of the box thinking.”
You felt yourself blush at his compliment.” Thank you. My roommate was supposed to be the Samwise to my Frodo but backed out last minute to dress as a bunny. So here I am sulking, getting ready to get shitfaced because I feel so awkward and out of place at this party. “ You smelled the cup of punch before taking a sip. “ Jesus Christ, What is in here?”
Eddie smirked.” Pure fuel.”
You took a sip of it and coughed.” Holy shit, it taste like rocket fuel!”
Eddie laughed.” Taste like absolute shit, but it will get you drunk fast.”
“ Bottoms up then.” You took one more drink then set the cup down.
His brows furrowed,” Your new to the area, aren’t you? I haven’t seen you around before.”
“ Just moved here actually, my roommate just introduced me to a bunch of people- Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler , Robin Buckley , a few others. They all seemed very nice. I’m sure I made one hell of a first impression.” You motioned to your costume.
Eddie laughed and it made your heart flutter. God he was gorgeous. “ You certainly caught my eye.” He winked.
You smiled.” So why are you in here all alone and not out there with all the partygoers ?”
“ I’m here for business purposes Sweetheart. “ He bowed dramatically. “Eddie Munson, small town drug dealer and outcast at your service.”
You were taken aback.” Outcast? But your so sweet. What did you do to deserve that title?”
“ Let’s see, I have long hair, tattoos and listen to Metal, I supply Marijuana to the people of Hawkins, and I play Dungeons and Dragons.”
You eyebrows furrowed this time.” What does playing D&D have to do with anything? It’s just a fricking game?”
He leaned back against the counter. “Haven’t you heard, Sweetheart? Studies have linked violent behavior, satanic worship, ritual sacrifice and murder to the game.” He stuck out his tongue and made a monster noise.
You laughed.” People are so fucking stupid. It is a board game.”
“ Thank you!” He hollered.” Have you ever played?”
“ I’ve dabbled enough to know that it s the furthest thing from a satanic cult that I can think of.”
“ Exactly. It is a game that is meant to be entertaining, not a fucking cult. I play it with a bunch of nerds. But because I play a fantasy game, the whole town thinks I’m mean and scary.” He stepped away from the counter and walked up to you, he leaned forward and whispered, “Do I seem mean and scary to you Princess?”He smelled like shampoo, weed and cologne, and his closeness made your heart race.
“ I’m terrified.” A smile spread across your face.
“ Shaking in your Hobbit feet?” He smiled back.
“ Your the sweetest devil worshipper that I have ever met.”
“ God , I just met you and I’m already fucking in love with you.”
You giggled.” Was it my sparkling personality or the ears?”
He laughed.” Your just fucking awesome.” He stepped even closer to you.” If I may be so bold to ask if you would like to accompany me outside for some fresh air?”
“ I don’t know if I should accept an invitation from you, you being the Devil and all.” I gestured to his costume.
“ Oh you don’t have to worry about me Doll.” He leaned over again.” I promise your safe with me. I don’t bite, unless, you want me too.”
Heat flooded through your body.” S-sure, I mean sure I will go out with you, I mean I will go outside with you, not ‘sure I want you to bite me’-“
He chuckled and put his large hand on the small of your back.” Let’s go sweetheart .”
He led you through the house, through the crowds of wild, inebriated people, and out the back door that opened onto a sprawling back yard, complete with a large patio and a screened in gazebo, a huge pool and pool house.
“ Holy shit.” You exclaimed.
“ Yeah I know right? Why his Parents are never home I will never understand. This place is fucking amazing. “ He motioned to the gazebo and you walked up the steps and sat down on a bench inside. He sat beside you, his body warm next to yours.
“ I may have only met him for a few minutes, but Steve doesn’t come across as an arrogant, spoiled rich kid to me. “
“ That’s the thing. He’s actually a good dude. He has a motley band of teenagers that worship him, he drives them around, protects them from bullies, would do anything for those kids. He’s like a father figure to them in a way. I think he does it because even though he has a Dad he never sees him, and when he does his dad is such an asshole to him, nothing Steve does is ever good enough.”
“ That sucks. Sounds like you guys are close.”
“ We share custody of the Gremlins. They are all in my D&D group, The Hellfire club, I’m their DM. They are good kids, nerds, outcasts like me. On days he can’t cart their asses around I volunteer.”
“ That’s sweet. So clearly their Parents see past all of the bullshit the media has put out there.”
“ They have known me, the REAL me for years. They know I am not a threat to their children. Some of them can use all the help they can get. There is this one kid, Dustin Henderson, smartest fucking kid I have ever met, total fucking handful, his mom is a single mom, Dads not in the picture. He can use a little guidance at times and who wants to listen to their parents? “ Eddie shrugged.
You looked up at him, really LOOKED at him and saw a soft spot for those kids in his eyes. This guy, this ‘ mean , scary guy’ was just a big softy with a bad wrap. You hadn’t known him long but you could tell. This was the longest conversation you had had since moving to Hawkins with anyone other than your roommate. Talking with him was so natural, like you had known him for years.
“ Hey Frodo, still with me?”
You blinked and blushed when you realized that you had been sitting there just staring at him, at his handsome face and expressive eyes. “ Sorry, just kind of zoned out there for a minute.”
“ You looked like you were deep in thought Princess. “ He smirked.” What were you thinking about?”
You sighed.” I was thinking that you are the coolest person I have met since moving into this tiny town. “
He smirked.” The coolest, most handsome person you’ve met since moving into this tiny town?” He hit you with his biggest smile, dimples on full display, his pretty eyes crinkling in the corners. Fuck, he was adorable, his smile gave you butterflies.
You smiled back at him.” Yes.”
“ Well I’m a pretty good judge of character and I think you are pretty fucking awesome too. I feel like I could sit here and talk to you for hours.”
You scooted closer to him and reached up and unfastened your cloak, draping one half of it over his shoulders.” I’ve got time if you do?”
The two of you sat outside, on that cool fall night and talked for hours, laughing and telling stories, cuddling together for warmth. There was a connection between the two of you like you had never felt with anyone else, and you were pretty sure that he had felt it too.
“ Eddie?”
“ Yes Darlin?”
Your heart fluttered.” I’m really glad that I decided not to wear the sexy kitten costume that my roommate was trying to get me to wear earlier tonight. If I had then I might not have met you.”
“ I’m real glad too Sweetheart.” He smiled.” Though now that we’ve officially met I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing you in a sexy kitten costume now..,”
You laughed.” Are you saying that the tunic and trousers ensemble isn’t sexy? I’m totally crushed!”
He threw his head back and laughed. “ The whole outfit is sexy, but what really gets me going if the feet. What I wouldn’t give to have you play footsie with me, rub those hairy fucking things up and down my legs-“
You died. Laughed so hard you snorted, then laughed even harder at the look of surprise on his face when you snorted.
“ Your fucking hilarious. “ He started laughing at you.
“ I’m sorry, it just happens when I burst out laughing or when I find something really funny- “
“ Why are you apologizing? I like a girl with a sense of humor. I like that you snort when you laugh, your real-“
“ Yeah, real fucking embarrassing- first I come dressed like a total dork then I seal the deal by laughing like a total dork.”
He gave you a soft smile.” I like that about you, you’re not afraid to be yourself, and that Sweet girl, is incredibly sexy.” You watched his eyes roam over your face stopping at your lips.” Can I kiss you?”
You blinked.” You want to kiss me? ME?”
“ I have been wanting to kiss you all goddamn night.”
“ I, I would love for you to kiss me-“
He reached up and lightly held your face in his hands then pressed his full, plump lip’s against yours. It was magical. He started off slowly and sweetly, savoring the kiss, sliding his hands from your face , lightly running his fingers through your hair. You ran your hands up his chest, feeling his heart beating fast below your hand then wrapped your arms around his neck.
It was then that he pulled you closer , deepened the kiss. You head was spinning. His mouth and his tongue was devouring yours and it was wonderful, and it was stirring awake something deep inside you.
You pulled away for a moment, breathless, and saw concern flash across his face.
“ Too far? Did I go too far?”
You ran a thumb over his kiss swollen lips.” No Eddie.” You straddled his lap and watched as he licked his lips. “ I just needed to be closer-“
His lips crashed into yours again and you felt his big hands grab onto your hips, your ass. You slowly rocked against him, and he moaned into your mouth. You could feel him getting hard beneath you.
“ Sweetheart,” he breathed, as he started to kiss your neck.” Tell me if you want me to stop.”
You threw your head back allowing him better access, his lips and tongue now leaving a trail of kisses down your throat.” Don’t stop, please Eddie, don’t stop.”
His hands left your hips, searching for your breast under your vest and heavy tunic. His fingers were fumbling as you were grinding against him.”Fuck! Your under here somewhere, I swear this isn’t my first time doing this-“
You smiled and reached down, taking his jittery hands in yours kissing them and placing them again on your hips. “ I’ve got this Sweetheart,” you said winking then leaning forward and nipping at his lower lip, causing a little whine to spill out of his mouth. Your fingers were nimble and quickly undoing your buttons. “ Hold me, move me.”
His strong hands rocked you back and forth creating a friction that was making your panties wet, his eyes on you the entire time watching as your finger’s finally unfastened the last button and your lacy bra and pert breasts were now exposed.
“ Fuck, their fucking perfect.” He leaned forward and kissed the rounds of the delicate skin, his hands leaving your hips to lightly skim up your sides and cup them. He gave them a squeeze and you purred. He tore his eyes away from your breasts to look up at you, eyes searching, asking permission to go further.
You leaned into him.” Please.”
He didn’t hesitate, his lips, his hands were all over you, kissing you, suckling on you, making you ache with need. You gripped at his shirt, tearing apart only to raise it up and over his head, his devil horns went flying. At that moment you didn’t care that you were outside where people could potentially see you, didn’t care that the air was cold around you because his body was keeping you so, so warm.
“ I want more Eddie, please I need more.” You pleaded, and you heard a rumble deep in his chest.
He pulled away from you and placed your cape down on the bench, then carefully laid you back onto it. “ I will give you all that you need, Angel,” he unbuttoned your pants then slowly pulled them down, his eyes taking in the sight of you laid out before him.” Your beautiful, so goddamn beautiful.” He tried to tug your pants down the rest of the way but they kept getting caught on your Hobbit feet. You couldn’t help but giggle as you watched him struggle . “I’m going to lose my fucking mind-“ but finally he was able to get them off.
He reached over and lowered a blind behind you, at least providing you with a little privacy from possible prying eyes, then hurriedly slid off his pants and boxers and you gaped at the sight of his body in the moonlight. He was covered in tattoos his chest, his torso, his hips, your eyes wandering lower, oh god. Your eyes stopped at his rock hard member, standing erect, long and thick, and ready, because he wanted YOU.
“ My eyes are up here Sweetheart.” He chuckled and you felt heat wash over your face.
“ Sorry, I’m sorry, I just-“
“ There you go apologizing again.” He leaned down and kissed you. “ You don’t need to apologize Princess, I find the ogling quite flattering.” He reached into the pocket of his discarded jeans and pulled out a condom, then dropped them to the ground. “ Are you sure this is what you want baby?”
“ I need this Eddie. I need you.” You watched as he tore open the wrapper with his teeth, then rolled the condom down his shaft. You swallowed hard.
He ran his hand along your body, down, until he reached your core. He slowly he slid his fingers inside you. His eyes flashed up to yours.” Your so fucking wet for me.”
He carefully laid down on top of you, your soft curves molding against his hard body, the sensation again making your head spin. You could feel the head of his cock nudging against you as he took your face in his hands. “ I’ll go real slow ok, pretty girl? Let me know if you need me to stop, ‘Kay?”
You looked up at him, nodding.” I promise.”
He kissed you, and as he softly, gently kissed you he slowly, carefully pushed himself inside you. You gasped and he stopped moving. It wasn’t a gasp of pain, but pleasure. He was filling you, stretching you and the feeling of him inside you was exquisite. “ Are you ok-“
“ Don’t stop, don’t stop till I have all of you. “
He continued slowly until he bottomed out and you both groaned.
“ Fuck, your so fucking tight.” Eddie pulled out then slowly pumped into you.” You feel so fucking good Sweetheart.”
“ More,” you whined under him, lightly running your fingernails up his back.”l promise I can take it. “
He started slow then his pace picked up as small sounds started spilling from your lips. “ Keep making those pretty noises for me Princess, fuck, your taking me so well. Your perfect, your so fucking perfect.” His pace now was relentless, you knew that you weren’t going to last much longer. You were so full, so completely full.
“ Eddie,” you murmured as he kissed your neck,” You feel so good, so fucking good inside me,” you gasped again as he hit that soft spot inside you the sent you spiraling over the edge. You moaned his name again as a wave of pleasure washed over you, as your body shook beneath him.
“ That’s it, there you go darling,” he fucked you through your orgasm, chasing his own release.”F-fuck,s-so good, fuck, I’m cumming!.” His movements were sloppy and his breathing was ragged as found his own release and collapsed on top of you , panting.
You smiled up at him brushing his wild mop of sweaty hair back from his face. He leaned down and kissed the tip of your nose, then your lips, your jaw, the sweet spot just below your ear, your ear, YOUR EAR! Just as he went to nibble on your ear your fake pointed elf ear fell off and down to the ground. You both looked at each other wide eyed before bursting out with laughter. You started snort laughing again and your body shook.
“ Jesus Christ, if you keep laughing and moving like that I’m going to get hard inside you again!”
“ I can’t,even, help it! The look,on your face -“ You gasped for air, his laugh sending you into a tizzy.
“ I thought I was being romantic, snuggling into you then bam, the fucking ear fell off.”
You finally caught your breath.” This has been a very memorable experience that I will never forget .”
Eddie carefully slid off of you then grabbed your cloak and wrapped it around you for your modesty and warmth. “ But in a good way right?”
“ Yes, in a very good way.”
“ Thank fucking God.” He smiled and started to get dressed.
“I uh, just wanted to let you know that this isn’t something that I normally do. I don’t typically have sex with people I have only known for a couple of hours-“
“ Sweetheart you don’t need to explain yourself to me. I think your fucking amazing. And I hope you don’t think that I sound like a total nutcase saying this but I really feel like we were meant to meet tonight. I feel like there is a connection, do you feel it? Please tell me you feel it too-“
“ I feel it Eddie.”
“ I would like to do this again sometime. Not just the sex , but I would like to take you out on a real date with like food and drinks, maybe sex after-“
“ I would love to go out with you Eddie, get some dinner then possibly dessert, a little later?” You winked at him then slid your tunic over your head. You reached for your pants next then slid them on,chuckling when you see your shoes with the plastic hobbit feet over them.
“ What are you laughing at Dollface?”
“ My roommate backed out of dressing up like Samwise because she ‘ wanted to hook up and there was no way she would get laid dressed up as a Hobbit’. “
Eddie smirked.” You just happened to be in the right place at the right time, with someone that appreciates literary genius when he sees it.” He wrapped his arms around your waist then lightly kissed your lips.“ So when are we doing this again, tomorrow? The day after that, then the day after that?”
“ Sounds good to me. My schedule, and my legs will always be open just for you.”
“ I love you, I really think I fucking love you.”
*****************************************
Two years later-
“ Sweetheart, we are going to be late for Harrington’s party.”
“ I’m coming!” You looked one last time in the bathroom mirror to make sure everything was perfect. Makeup- check, Princess Leia buns, perfectly symmetrical. You smoothed out the front of your white dress and tucked a fake laser gun in your belt before walking out.
“ I’m sorry I’m late baby but these buns were a bitch-“ You stopped short when you saw him. Holy Shit. Eddie was dressed as Han Solo- tight pants, boots, white shirt, black vest and a belt slung low on his hip with a plastic gun in the holster . He looked delicious. He also looked like he was in total shock. He had always had a crush on Leia, fantasized about having sex with her when he was younger and now tonight he would finally get the chance- later.
“You look, so FUCKING hot Princess.” His eyes slowly lingered over your body.” It was worth the wait.” He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you in for a lazy kiss.” Anything worth doing is worth doing right, especially on Halloween. You know how special this day is to me. It’s the day that I met you and my entire life changed.”
He was right, ever since that fateful night that you met at Steve Harrington’s party your life had never been the same. You and Eddie had been inseparable, and for two years now you had been happy, so incredibly happy.
You watched a smile spread across his face.” What?” You asked.
“ I got you a present, for our Anniversary.”
You panicked.“But baby, I didn’t think we were doing presents, I thought we were just going to go out to dinner-“
“ This is a special present.” He kissed the tip of your nose then reached down into his pocket and pulled out a box. A ring box. Your heart pounded as you watched him kneel down before you. “Sweetheart, I love you, I have loved you since the moment that I saw you in Steve Harrington’s kitchen, wearing your Hobbit costume. I loved you more when we sat and talked that night, we had the same interests, same great taste in books, same connection. You accepted me for who I was. I have been so extremely grateful that you are in my life, and in the words of Arwen Undómiel of Lord of the Rings. ‘I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.’ I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you do me the honor of being my wife?”
You could feel the tears of joy streaming down your face, as you nodded.” Yes, yes, one million times yes!”
He smiled up at you, a look of true love and relief on his face. He popped open the box and slid a diamond ring onto your finger. “ For you, my Precious.”
You took a second to admire the ring then pulled him to his feet. “ I love you, for all of this life and beyond .” Then you pressed your lips to his.
‘Books ought to have good endings. How would this do'And they all settled down and lived together happily ever after.'

Sugar Daddy!Bakugou x Reader Ch. 1
Okay soooo I had this written weeks ago but just needed to get it typed up and wasn’t sure if I wanted to post it without part two ready. I’m impatient though! So, here it is! This is more of an introduction into why our gremlin would be a sugar daddy, so hold tight guys, the second part gets into the actual sugar daddy nonsense. I also have plans to get saucy as the series continues, since I wasn’t originally planning on it turning into such a m o n s t e r. Also, the line I put in near the end is an actual thing someone has sent me before. Go figure.
Btw, the reader’s quirk is based on my OC’s quirk, Energy Manipulation and Absorption, which she will explain in the second chapter, I promissssse. Enjoy!
Words: 6.3k
_-_-_-_-_
“Well how am I supposed to help you if you won’t even tell me your type?” “I don’t want your fucking help!” Bakugou huffs and increases his pace to avoid Kirishima’s persistent pout. Kirishima jutts his bottom lip out further. He honestly didn’t understand how his partner could be so fast and agile in such baggy pants. The two heroes continue walking through the city, on their usual patrol. It had been a relatively quiet day, only having calmed (threatened) a rather rowdy group they had strolled upon earlier in the day. Given how little there was to hold their attention, Kirishima filled the gaps with conversation. However, recently the topic had been circling back to Bakugou’s love life, which was, in Kirishima’s words, “almost more depressing than Denki’s.” The red head had been trying to goad Bakugou into giving him something to go off of so that he could help set him up with somebody. Of course, Bakugou objected. Kirishima was beside Bakugou in three long strides, silently thanking the Gods for the few inches over his friend in height. “Oh, c’mon man! You and I both know how lonely you are—” “I’m not lonely! I don’t need annoying people to fill my time. You do that enough,” Bakugou snapps harshly, refusing to meet Kirishima’s eyes. “Bro, listen,” Kirishima steps out to block Bakugou’s path, left hand raised in a placating gesture. Bakugou’s fists clench at his sides as he levels Kirishima with a ferocious glare, teeth clenched. Despite his hostile posture, he makes no move to push his partner out of the way. “The last time you tried to date someone it didn’t go that well,” Bakugou growls.
“But! I think you’ve let that discourage you! You should try getting back out there, man. You don’t know who you could be missing out on.” Kirishima gave a small, reassuring smile. Bakugou scoffs and crosses his arms. He casts his glare aside and notices a few people around them. Already tired eyes catch a couple of women who were watching the two of them from across the street, leaning in to whisper conspiratorially. “You really aren’t going to leave me alone about this, are you shitty hair?” he rumbles lowly. Kirishima shakes his head vigorously, not unlike a 5 year old denying that they broke their toy. Bakugou sighs dramatically. “I’m not about to have this conversation here.” He accentuates his statement by glancing back to the women across the street, who now scurry off at the heated look he sends their way. Kirishima’s carmine eyes light up. “You mean you’ll actually talk to me ab—” “Yes, alright?” Bakugou hisses. “Just— later. And you can’t keep bugging me about it after that!” The ash blond punctuates his statement with a gloved finger shoved into Kirishima’s broad chest. He only grins, nodding his head before stepping to Bakugou’s side and throwing a hand across his shoulders. “Excellent! I have this idea…” “Shitty hair—” Bakugou’s warning tone is interrupted by the shrill whine of an alarm. Both men snap their heads up to see a storefront about two blocks down blow out in a spray of glass, three figures jumping out and bolting away from the now wailing alarm. “Fucking finally!” Bakugou roars, feet already carrying him in a spring, Kirishima hot on his heels.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
“I’m sorry, I know this isn’t the last thing you want to do today but he’s too new. If he ruins another experiment I’ll throw him in the pressure chamber.” You sigh through your nose, setting your coffee on the cafe table. “I’m in town right now, so it’ll be at least fifteen minutes before I could get there.” You press your shoulder against the phone so that you can shake the two sugar packets, ripping the tops and pouring them into the black coffee while your coworker continues to grumble on the other line. “You’ve got to give him a chance, Aki, he’s only an undergrad. He doesn’t know just how serious our work is.” A sound between a laugh and something offended has you pulling the phone away from your ear quickly. “Why not have him do some observation, keep him busy with recording data or something?” you suggest, smiling to the barista as you shoulder open the door. “What, and have him mess up the numbers? I don’t think so!” Aki yells. You roll your eyes. You thoroughly enjoyed your days away from the lab, but always felt anxious for the disaster group that were your coworkers, worried about what they were up to while you were gone. Too many times had you come back to a poorly hidden disaster or a professor greeting you to explain what new things your lab had been banned from doing or using. “It’s just reading numbers and writing it down. He can’t be any worse than you and that radiologist from Ikeda’s lab.” You sipped your coffee to hide the smug smile spreading across your face in response to your coworker’s sputtered response. “That was only once and we paid for the damage!” You laugh. “Still. Why do I need to go in anyway? I’m not coming in on my day off just to babysit the intern.” You really put up with far too much, more than a supervisor should without bringing in your bosses, but it was never anything you couldn’t handle yourself. You would likely die trying to fix your lab partners’ mistakes before getting the Dean involved. They may run you ragged but you’d never put the lab and your chance to conduct research in jeopardy. “It took three of us to set this experiment up, and not counting the shit inter there’s only one other person in the lab.” “I don’t get paid enough for this,” you grumble into your coffee. “I’ll owe you!” Aki singsongs. With another eyeroll, you hum into the speaker. “Fine, fine, I should be on the train in li—” A loud rumbling draws your attention away from your phone. You and the pedestrians around you look down the street, where the sound of explosions and screeching metal grew louder. You ignore your coworker’s yelling, stepping off of the sidewalk to get a glimpse around the street corner. Another explosion shakes the ground beneath your feet, almost throwing you off balance. You watch people run away from the right side of the street but being 10 meters away you were unable to see the actual force behind the tremors. Your curiosity had always posed a problem for you. Plenty of broken bones and burns and disciplinary action growing up has only proven how dangerous the depths of your inquisitive nature can be. Most people in this situation would follow the crowd and put self-preservation first. You couldn’t be most people if you actually made an effort. So, as bodies brushed past you and orange light flickers across the glass of the office buildings across the intersection, you push forward. Just to see, you tell yourself. You had only moved forward a few steps before a loud crack shocks her into stillness. Glancing up, your (e/c) eyes go wide, the skyscraper on the corner beginning to bow out at the 10th floor, glass cracking and bursting from the pressure, two floors above and below the point of tension suddenly bared to the open sky. The corner beam of the building rips away, split at the place where it bowed out. The piece that meets the ground whips out and down, arching and then reaching around the side where all of the commotion seems to come from, and effectively out of sight. A strong impulse tells you to get just a little closer, to watch whatever mayhem was unfolding so near, but before you can take a step, you hear a scream above you. On the 11th floor, the room that was once a corner office is now destroyed, the floor falling. The floor flaps down, desk sliding with gravity until it tumbles out, landing with a loud crash on the pavement. You, however, only see the person clutching onto the disconnected floor, legs kicking around in panic. You look around to find the street fairly empty. Not only of people, but of heroes. “Please don’t get caught,” you mutter under your breath, slipping your phone into your back pocket before dashing forward.

“Stay still, you bastard!” Bakugou propels himself forward in the air, heat blanketing the exposed skin of his neck and the back of his shoulders and forearms. After giving chase, he and Kirishima had taken two bank robbers down with ease. The third, however, proved to be a challenge. His quirk had something to do with manipulating metal, and Bakugou was absolutely fed up with being smacked by lampposts and narrowly avoiding cars. The fucker had even managed to throw a manhole cover at the explosive hero and Bakugou really wasn’t looking forward to the resulting bruise on his shin. The criminal kept dipping between different streets to throw him off, but Bakugou was locked on, refusing to lose him. Bakugou shoots forward with another blast from palms open to the world whipping past him. Like this, he was easily gaining on his target, who ran on foot. The man checks behind him at the rapidly approaching blasts, panic in his eyes and the set of his jaw. Swiftly, he throws his left arm out and his hand shakes, but he never slows his pace. Bakugou was so close. Another blast and he brings his knees up closer to his chest, a wicked grin curling at his limps as he aims his body at the criminal. Creaking and shattering drew Bakugou’s eyes up, barely catching the steel beam swinging out from a building and right at him. His eyes widen and his palms shoot out, detonating just in time to push him back from the beam. He lands harshly but keeps his footing and is running in a matter of seconds. He sees the criminal pushing himself up, likely having been thrown over from the blast. He’s almost to his feet when Bakugou comes up behind him and slams one gauntlet-clad arm across his back. The man grunts as he goes down. Bakugou grabs the man’s hands and keeps them in a vice grip in one hand, the other reaching back for the quirk-nullifying cuffs. “You’re gonna regret running.” He barely has them out of his belt when there’s a loud scream. Bakugou looks up to see a desk fall through the air to the left of him. A shoulder bag follows, and his vermilion eyes shoot up to catch legs dangling from the corner of the building the villain destroyed. “Shit!” he yells, slapping the cuffs onto the villain, harshly in his haste. He takes two steps away from the man with a threat to stay put, palms aimed at the ground and ready to blast him into the air, but before he can even get a spark going, he sees [h/c] hair just to the right. It takes him a moment to realize it’s a person. A person jumping through the air. Is that a civilian?! He watches her gaining altitude, knees curling up to her chest, arms aimed out, and she lands, ungracefully, on the floor below the person dangling. Now that Bakugou has moved he can see the floor falling out and the person’s failing hold on the edge of it. Bakugou blinks, realizing that he’s just standing there watching this. He’s a hero for fuck’s suck! He runs closer to the mess of glass and office decoration. Bakugou get a better look at their position: from the way the floor sags down if the civilian feel they’d clip the edge of the floor below them, but it would be likely it would also fall in with the force of their fall. There was also a chance of them tumbling over the side with the momentum. The woman stands straight and reaches up to the person with both arms, speaking to them, but Bakugou can’t hear her from this distance. The person turns their head to look at her and he’s sure they respond before the woman bends her knees as if bracing herself. Bakugou’s hear pounds in his chest, and then the person lets go and tumbles into the woman’s awaiting arms.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
You hadn’t thought farther than making it onto the 10th floor. Your landing had been met with an unsteady surface, the floor beneath your very feet warning of impending collapse. Anxiety inflates in your chest, wind whipping at the hem of your shirt, hair brushing your shoulders and you are distantly thankful you put your hair up on the way out of your apartment this morning. The person before you whimpers, clutching as tight as they can to the carpet, fingers drained of color with the strain. You step closer to them. “Hey,” you try not to yell and startle them, but the wind whistling past the maw of destroyed glass makes it harder to hear anything. The person tenses. “Oh my Gods, please help me.” It comes out as a sob and your chest tightens. You take a deep breath and take another step closer, arms spread out before you in an almost welcoming gesture. You quickly eye the space behind you from your peripheral, where the floor begins to bow in at the point where it once met a corner and now meets the city air. “Listen, I’m right behind you. You’re going to have to let go and fall back into my arms. I promise, I will catch you.” Promise? You purse your lips at your own choice of words. The person turns their head as much as they can to see you, eyebrows furrowed, tear tracks obvious on their cheek now. “O-okay. Please don’t drop me…” They turn their head back and tighten the grip of their aching hands momentarily. You bend your knees, ready to brace yourself for the weight. You hate your impulsive nature but remain thankful for the nature of your quirk. “Ready.” She yells. When you feels the person’s weight hit you, you absorb the force of them throwing themselves backwards, but still stumble back somewhat, right foot sliding and lodging itself in the gap between the floor and the steel frame, which gives a low groan at the force you unknowingly put out in your panic. Arms securely around the person’s waist, you glance back to check your foot placement. The floor that had been dislodge from the frame is sagging in more with the pressure of your weight pressing right into its weakest point. “Now what?” the person asks, sounding winded. “HEY!” You startle, craning your neck further to find the source of the shouting. Your breath catches in your throat as you spot a hero. Not just any hero, but Ground fucking Zero. You let go of the person and turn to fully face him, brushing away the hair that blows into your eyes. Below, Ground Zero is walking up, kicking glass aside. “What the fuck are you doing?” he yells. His arms hang at his sides as best they can with the gauntlets he wears, shoulders bunched up and what you know to be his signature scowl pulling at his lips. “Uh, well, I –“ you try fishing for an excuse, but are cut short by the jolt of the floor under your feet. The added weight of another person and support of the building’s frame quickly disconnecting have you struggling to think fast. You hear Ground Zero curse but can’t decipher it, not that you’re focusing much on it. “Jump!” You look back at the hero as he walks closer. The person grips your arm tightly. “W-what?!” they squawk at him. “Fucking jump! You did it before, didn’t you?” His tone is impatient, but you feel the anxiety hidden behind it, mirrored in the way your knees tremble slightly. “But that’s t-ten stories!” You bite your lip and glance to the person holding to your arm deathly tight, a tremor running through their body. “Hey,” you start softly. Their wide eyes cut over to you. “Don’t worry. I caught you. That man down there is a pro hero, so if I can catch you then you have nothing to worry about.” The frenzied look does not leave their eyes. “Come on!” Ground Zero barks. You look at him, then back to the person. “It’s okay,” you say before reaching one foot forward and bracing it on the empty frame. You push slightly to test its strength and hear the slightest protest from the floor beneath you. “Step up here, I’ll keep you steady.” The person lets out a sound somewhere close to a sob, shakily moving after a moment’s hesitation. They step up, both hands holding yours so tight you feel your bones creak. You keep your other foot on the increasingly unstable floor to provide yourself balance as you keep the terrified person steady. Ground Zero holds out his arms, and he looks ready to dash whatever way he needs to receive the civilian safely. You nod to them, and it’s still another minute before they let go of your hands and leap out. Ground Zero moves forward and locks his knees as they land in open arms. He ends up falling back onto his ass, but the person scurries to their feet and offer to help him up. The blond hero brushes them aside and hops to his feet. “Your turn, lady.” Ground Zero rolls his shoulders, possibly to prepare himself for the next impact. You puff out a laugh. “I’m good.” As his face morphs into confused rage, you remove your foot from the floor, swing it out, and use the one on the frame to push off. You ignore the ‘what the fuck’ screamed at you and focus on your landing. Blacktop comes at you fast, and a breath away from landing you flex your toes out, energy dispersing through the movement and the pavement cracks shallowly beneath the front of your feet. Rolling to the heels, you gaze up to your right, only to find vermilion eyes boring down at your. Ground Zero must have gone to catch you but didn’t make it to you first. He’s less than an arm’s reach from you, heat rolling off of him, and you wonder if it’s from his exertion or his anger. “Are you fucking crazy?” he spits. You frown and cross your arms. “No,” you’ve barely turned to face him when he’s suddenly right in your face, teeth bared at you in a snarl. “You could’ve died up there. What kind of dumbass are you?” “Well, they could have died, and you weren’t here.” You snap back, angry at his scolding. Was he right? Of course. Were you going to admit that and roll over? Fuck no! You didn’t respond well to most authority unless you were paid to. Ground Zero growls, a retort heavy on his tongue. “Zero!” His head snaps to look over his shoulder, murder in his eyes. Red Riot now stands beside the villain Ground Zero had been chasing, holding him by a cuffed arm. The ash blond grumbles and turns back to the newest source of his annoyance, only to find the space in front of him empty. He frantically looks around. You have already made it to the end of the street, eager to avoid whatever the explosive man had to say. You look back, seeing the stunned and furious look on his face, and hive a wide smile and a waggle of your fingers before darting around the corner. Hopefully he wouldn’t give chase. You pull out your phone, dialing your coworker as you slip into the curious crowd of onlookers and flee the scene of your impromptu rescue.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Bakugou slumps into the booth, arms crossed against his chest and a scowl hard-set on his features. After the fight, they’d talked to reporters, did the necessary paperwork, and all Bakugou had wanted after showering at the agency was to go home to his cat and zone out to nighttime television. Instead, Kirishima had talked him into (“harassed” as Bakugou had put it) going out and grabbing a drink. He had to admit that a drink would help ease the irritation from being shown up by some wannabe civilian. Of course, Kirishima had steered him to a bar near their apartments and when they approached a table the redhead had seemed set on, Bakugou was met with the familiar cackling of two of their friends. “Oi, what the fuck, shitty hair? I thought you said this was ‘winding down’?” Bakugou huffed as Kirishima slapped Sero on the back in greeting. “What? We know how to wind down,” Kaminari feigned offense, scooting further into the semi-circle booth and patting the now open seat beside him. “And it involves shots!” the blond cheered, Sero laughing in response. “He’s already two in.” Sero took a sip of his drink, obvious in his refusal to down it in one go. “You guys better catch up.” The challenge wasn’t subtle, Kirishima laughing and looking over to Bakugou. On any other day, he would have put up a fight, or made a bigger deal out of it than necessary before partaking. Instead, he reached out, snatched Sero’s glass and knocked it all back. Tequila was not on of his go-to’s, but he should’ve expected the tequila-based cocktail to be the ravenet’s choice. Not that it really mattered now that it was burning down his throat and putting a different kind of heat in his chest. Sero made a noise of complaint. Kirishima laughed and stood up from the booth while Bakugou finally dropped into his own and slumped into the seat. “Why don’t we grab some drinks for the table?” he grinned at Sero, who just sighed and waved his hand at the other two dismissively as he got up to join his muscly friend. Once out of sight, Kaminari leans across the table to squint at Bakugou. “What’s got your panties in a twist?” Bakugou slumps further into the seat. “Fuck off.” “You’re mighty grumpy.” “I’m always grumpy.” “But not like this.” Bakugou kicks his leg at Kaminari under the table, but the shorter man had anticipated it and pulls his legs up to sit cross-legged. “This is more like…like ‘someone wronged me and I’m pouting’ kind of grumpy.” Bakugou growls half-heartedly. “I don’t fucking pout.” Kaminari hums a disagreeing noise. “Sounds fake but okay. You didn’t deny the first part, though!” He smiles brightly, pressing his palms flat on the table and folds himself almost in half to lean closer. “So~ who kicked your cat, huh? “No one fu—” “Some woman from patrol.” Bakugou snaps his teeth at his partner as he and Sero approach the table with a tray of shot glasses. “Shut your damn mouth,” he hisses. “What’s this about a woman?” Sero quips cheekily, sliding in and pressing his shoulder to Kaminari’s, smile wide and sly. “Nothing.” “A civilian saved someone and totally blew him off.” Bakugou lets out an undignified sound. Kaminari leans back when Bakugou slaps his hand on the table. “Shut your shitty fucking mouth before I do for you.” He growls low at Kirishima. Said man pops down beside Sero after setting down the tray, laughing all the while like he hadn’t just been threatened. “Speaking of women,” Kaminari sets down an empty shot. Bakugou’s glare was almost exhausted. “how’s your shitty love life going?” “No, nope. I told you cocksuckers I wasn’t gonna tell you shit.” “Actually…” Bakugou looks over to Kirishima’s devilish smirk. “You said you would.” He sounds far too pleased with himself, Bakugou decides, and he has not drunk nearly enough to have this conversation with these idiots. “Not with dunce face and horse mouth.” With a sweeping gesture to them, both men frowning harshly. “We’re a delight!” Kaminari snaps, taking another shot and pushing one to Sero. The latter nods sagely before downing his. Bakugou swayed his bothered gaze over to his best friend. His resolve wavers at those puppy dog eyes. He grumbles and snatches a shot, knocking it back, followed by another. The ash blond slumps back into his seat and releases a heavy sigh. The three eager men watch Bakugou expectantly. After a long beat of silence, he snaps, “Well, I’m not starting this shit! If you want to know, you fuckers gotta ask.” He eyes another shot, debating how inebriated he could be without this conversation going all kinds of sideways. Kaminari immediately goes to speak, questions ready to burst forth, when Sero holds a hand out and looks pointedly to Kirishima. The redhead purses his lips and holds his chin, contemplation creasing his brow. Bakugou avoids the scrutinizing look and reaches for the drink Kaminari had set out for, enjoying the offended scoff he gets in return. Kirishima hums. “Okay, how about” why are you so scared to try dating again?” Bakugou scrunches his nose. “I’m not scared, you moron.” “Then what is it?” Kirishima looks as if this subject honestly concerned him, that empathetic shine in his eyes that Bakugou claims to hate so much. The other two merely raise their eyebrows at their grouchy friend. Bakugou crosses his arms over his chest and huffs, looking at the dried water ring on the table. It wasn’t that he just refused to think about it. It was quite the opposite, actually. He knew why he couldn’t date someone, what he regretted in his last relationship, what he missed, what he, dare he say it, feared about getting into something that he’d only ruin again. “I can’t,” Bakugou growls and clenches his fist. “I don’t have the time. I’m gonna be number one and I won’t date someone just to leave them alone all the time.” He purses his lips, feeling the warmth of the liquor hitting him and trying to puke his feelings out in front of this many people. “If I’m gonna be someone’s boyfriend then I’m gonna be the best, and I can’t do that with the way I’m working now.” Kaminari leans forward, face scrunched in an expression of disbelief. Bakugou briefly wonders how many of the empty glasses belong to the loudmouth beside him. “Dude, that’s way less irrational than I thought that would be.” Kaminari sits back to avoid the half-hearted swat from Bakugou. He leans on the table again and says, “Why not just find a friend with benefits or something?” Bakugou sneers. “I’m not looking for a quick fuck. I can take care of myself; I don’t need to rope somebody else in just to satisfy me. Or to spread rumors about my sex life.” “I think you actually offended him,” Sero looks from one blond to the other. “Okay well, what do you want from a relationship? Like, if you could have it without the commitment?” Kaminari asks. Bakugou curls his lip and jabs an accusing finger in his direction. “Are you saying I can’t do commitment?” Kaminari raises his hands in surrender. “What? No! Bro, now way I just—” “Katsuki,” said man turns to Kirishima, shoulders tense. “what were your favorite things about having a girlfriend?” He gives a soft smile, genuine, a weapon more efficient than any other when bargaining with the gremlin. Bakugou holds his glare, then exhales, whole body deflating and sinking into the booth. Kirishima remembers talking vaguely with his friend about this when Bakugou had initially started dating his now-ex. He’d been so much more relaxed an open (as much as he could be). Kirishima knew first hand that Bakugou took his role as boyfriend very seriously and enjoyed many aspects that came with it. He shrugs. “I don’t know. I guess,” he scratches the back of his head. “I liked getting to spoil her. Seeing her light up when I bought her gifts or taking her out to dinner and showing her off.” Bakugou frowns, suddenly thinking back to all of the dates he planned, the trips he planned and endless effort he put into making her happy. “I liked getting to treat her like a queen and making her feel good.” He gives a half smirk at the multiple meanings behind that last bit. “Just wish it hadn’t turned one sided…” it’s under his breath, but the three of them catch it. Before he can spiral any further through memories, Sero snaps his fingers. “Holy shit, Bakubro, you should be a Sugar Daddy!” Kaminari, mid-shot, snorts and coughs as the liquor comes out of his nose. Kirishima dissolves into laughter, wheezing and smacking his hand on the table. Bakugou goes from a look of pure shock to absolute fury. “Ex-fucking-scuse you, Tape Face?!” Sero waves his hand around as if remorseful, though the shit-eating grin says otherwise. “Hear me out!” Bakugou glares him down while the other two try pulling themselves together. Once Kirishima gets his breathing under control and Kaminari is wiping up the liquor from the table’s surface, Sero speaks again. “I have a friend, another pro, and he’s on this sugar daddy site. Don’t give me that look, just listen!” Bakugou rolls his eyes and tries to keep his features as neutral as he can manage. “He found a sugar baby and he says it works well for him. She’s his date to galas, she does all that publicity shit with him, and he pays for outfits, lets her buy shit, I think he even pays her rent.” “Do they sleep together?” Kaminari asks with a look of bewilderment. “I didn’t ask.” Sero holds his hands up in a shrug. “My point is, if you want to treat some girl like a queen but don’t want to date her, there’s women out there who would be beside themselves if THE Ground Zero said he wanted to spoil them.” He wants to yell at him. Tell him how stupid it is, how low it is, how he’d never do something so…sleazy. “Don’t people like that expect sex? It’s the same as paying for a prostitute and playin’ ‘Pretty Woman’.” Bakugou crosses his arms again. “I mean, some sugar daddies do. A lot, actually.” Sero says the last part under his breath. “But! Not everyone does, and not every sugar baby does, either. Each person has different needs, I guess.” Bakugou scoffs, willing another refusal to come to mind. “I don’t know, man. It might be worth it to check out.” Kirishima says, picking out a shot. Bakugou grumbles and looks at his phone to take his attention away. After a couple of minutes, the rest of the group catches on that he’s done with this conversation, and move along to other topics, laughing and yelling like drunken idiots in no time.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
You crouch down, pouring the cup of food into a ceramic bowl next to the fridge. The cup wasn’t even empty before you feel a wet nose against your elbow, then the weight of your dog leaning against your left side. You laugh and turn to pet the red heeler. He shoves you over, losing your balance and tumbling over, almost knocking into the water bowl. “Rōrupan, you naughty boy! You’re such a bully, you know that?” You scratch his scruff while the brindle dog scarfs down his kibble. You stand and walk to the dining table, opening up your laptop and typing in a webpage. You walk around the kitchen, pulling out leftovers and assembling some sort of meal before throwing it into the toaster oven. Once the timer was set, you sit down in front of your laptop and sigh. “What do we have today?” you ask aloud, briefly glancing at Rōrupan, who could care less. You scroll through four new messages and grumble at each of them. All were from men with no tact in their greetings, coming on way too strong, one even saying: “Any chance you’re interested in a tall, attractive, and well hung married man?” You snap your computer shut, not even bothering to browse tonight. You would put more effort into your search if you hadn’t gotten home only mere minutes ago. You had originally joined the site as a joke, not really putting any stock in sugar daddies and that sort of lifestyle. Browsing through your options, you laughed at half of the men, coming off as try-hards facing a mid-life crisis and wanting to splurge on someone other than themselves – or their wives. You expressly ignored anyone who made their married status known, having no desire to be some rich fuck’s side piece when he had a loving wife at home. In the few months you’d been on, though, you had managed to go on a few dates, completely paid for. One man had bought you a beautiful silver evening gown for the dinner date with him. A couple of men offered to give you an allowance, which you politely declined at the realization that you didn’t want to be a reoccurring presence with these men. You weren’t a materialistic person, by any means. Your apartment was a simple one bedroom with decent amenities. It was well decorated but most of it consisted of gifts from family or absolute steals you found while browsing thrift stores. You spent more money on your dog than yourself, most times. That didn’t mean you didn’t enjoy gifts, though. Treating yourself was hard, but you absolutely lived for others tending to your needs and treating you better than most. You never looked too deep into that, ignoring the psychological implications of what led you here. Browsing may have sounded more enticing had your mind not been so occupied by one of your favorite heroes. You had dreamt so long of getting to meet the hothead, and this is not how you imagined it going down. You cursed your impulsive nature. This took the cake for “Dumbest Thing I’ve Done Because of My Cool Quirk”, which had previously been held by “The Tree Incident”, aka “The Reason I Can’t Bend My Left Leg All The Way”. You pull yourself from the table, grabbing your food and wandering into the living room. Setting the food down on the coffee table, you throw yourself onto the couch face first with a groan. He was so much dreamier up close, even when enraged. You turned your body to face away from the couch. Rōrupan trotted over, tongue lolling out of a perfect smile. You grab the throw pillow at your head and hug it to your chest. “You should have seen his eyes,” you complained to your pet. “Rōru, they could pin you in place all on their own.” Rōrupan plopped onto his rear and gave a dramatic yawn followed by a whiny rumble. “Don’t be rude,” you grumbled into the pillow. “If I see him again, I’ll DIE. He probably wants to kick my ass. Right now, I want to kick my OWN ass.” Your dog set you with a bored look. “I pulled some real vigilante shit today. You would be proud of me, bud.” You pull your head up and reach out for the still steaming plate. Sitting up, you furrow your brows and give a worried frown. “What if he tells a cop or something and they come looking for me? You’d starve without me, y’know.” At that Rōrupan leaves the room and retreats to his owner’s. You pout and huff loudly. “Let’s hope that doesn’t actually happen.”

niall looked over and felt his stomach swoop low at the sight before him. blankets tucked up to your chin, face dimly lit up by the small lights overhead, casting a warm glow on your soft features, allowing him to study the slope of your nose, eyelashes against your cheeks, slightly parted lips, it was his favorite pastime.
he reached over and let his hand trail over your shoulder, gently taking you out of the grasp of sleep. “love, you need’ta wake up for me.”
your brows furrowed, eyes still heavy with sleep, “have we landed already?”
a soft smile spread across his face at your sleepy voice, “almost, love.” and the plane rumbled, proving his point. you turned your head towards him, finally opening your eyes. a short gasp escaped you at how close he was, and you immediately felt yourself get dizzy with love all over again as you studied his irises for the millionth time, counting the gold specks that shine within the blue.
“ah there ya are, sleepy girl”
“sleepy girl?” you responded, eyes still blurry with drowsiness.
“mm-hmm” niall pushed the seat divider up and wrapped his strong arm around you, and you revelled in the newfound warmth and weight. “y’slept the entire flight, that makes you sleepy girl. it’s gonna be a bitch for you to get to bed tonight.”
you cleared your throat a couple times and tried to wake yourself up as you and niall sat in the silence, huddled together in the small private cabin, until the flight attendant announced you’d land in just minutes. a gasp erupted from niall, any sense of slumber escaping him, as he reached over your frame and tore open the window. the sunshine took you by surprise but you followed niall’s wonderstruck gaze towards the mass amount of green, dublin airport pulling into view.
lwe’re here,” he spoke, his voice filled with so much unbridled happiness you felt your heart swell, “welcome to the best country on earth, baby”
———
in fact, the feelings swirling through his entire being could only be described as adoration. you pressed against the window of the car, bundled up in every sweater and jacket niall could squeeze onto you before you lost the ability to move,
“niall this is ridiculous!” you exclaimed, voice muffled by the scarf wrapped tight around your neck
“niall this is ridiculous!” you exclaimed, voice muffled by the scarf wrapped tight around your neck
“darling, please, its going to be fucking freezing over there! i’m only looking out for you.”
“i can’t even walk!” to prove your point you tried to waddle your way towards him standing in front of the closet and nearly lost your balance
“alright, alright, i guess we can get rid of the snow pants.”
the town he still knew like the back of his hand going by behind you… the two things he loved the most, his country and his girl, coming together, was almost too much to handle and he had to swallow back the lump in his throat.
“tomorrow, i can show you ‘round, we passed the book store a couple minutes back, dunno if you saw it, but it's not a long walk.”
you merely nodded and continued to look out the window, the sights niall pointed out seemed fuzzy as your mind was occupied with anxiety. you’ve talked to niall’s mum over the phone countless of times, his dad too, a few skype’s here and there- and his cousins and childhood best friend quickly became your friends too after you and niall started going out- but being a part of the horan family christmas was filling you with nerves you never thought you’d have because of something related to niall.
“what’re you thinking about, love?” you snapped your heads towards him, noses brushing as his lips rested at your ear. “it’s nothing, ni. don’t worry about it.”
he furrowed his brows and tucked a finger under your chin, keeping your gaze on him as you tried to turn your head away. “nothing is nothing when it comes to you, talk t’me.” he emphasized, pushing his nose against your cheek.
he spoke so lowly, so gently, and he was so close that no matter where you looked, you were met with him. “i- i’m just nervous, to meet your family.” it all came out in one breath. “what if they don’t like me, or if i do that weird stuttery thing, oh my god i’ll just die of embarrassment.”
“what the fuck are you going on about? that’s nonsense, of course they’re going to like you, you’re my best girl.”
you rolled your eyes, trying to ignore the fact that the car was slowing down and looked down at your pants.
“oi, what’s the eye roll for missy?”
“you’re only saying that because i’m your girlfriend…”
“…yeah…” he replied confusedly, “you are my girlfriend, because i love you. and i wouldn’t have you come meet my family if i didn’t think you were ready for it, if we were ready for it.”
your annoyance quickly dwindled as you looked up at your boyfriend, your soft gaze rosying his cheeks as the taxi pulled up outside the house.
“ ‘sides, if anyone should be worried about being embarrassed it‘s me… let’s just hope me ma put away the church boy photos” he muttered under his breath, holding the car door open for you.
you gasped as you grabbed your bag from the trunk, “oh my god no! niall you have to show me every single baby photo there is of you, i swear to god.”
niall scowled down at you as he took the suitcase out your hand, “not a chance!”
“baby, yes! i can’t believe i never even thought about the treasure trove of pictures i’d get to see! were you an altar boy?”
niall trudged through the snow, each hand pulling a suitcase, avoiding your stare, but the redness that coated his ears gave his stoic demeanor away.
“you were! oh this is going to be amazing!!” you exclaimed, linking your arm in his and walking up to the front door. niall smiled down at the change in attitude. he’d show you every damn photo of him as an altar boy, or with diapers on his head, or with crooked teeth and hair that was much too bleached, if it meant you’d smile like that.
he knew it was going to be loud, and he was going to be pulled every each way to catch up with family members he hasn’t seen in months. for the first hour, you were glued to his side, greeting every aunt and uncle with a shaky handshake and a soft “it’s nice to meet you.” niall looked at you with moony eyes each time which got called out by his relatives, but they all had knowing smiles on their faces, that you were going to be forever.
as dinner started, you branched out more, finding conversation in his cousin annie, having a compliment battle with each other. and now, surrounded by his cousins and childhood friends, his nth beer in his hand, he scoured the room to try and find you.
“aww, nialler looking for his girl?”
niall took a swig of beer, ignoring his cousin's drunken teasing.
“avoiding the question, it must be pretty serious” conor wooed, the boys erupting in exaggerated awws and whipping noises.
“oi, enough of that boys!” maura snapped, the grown men still obeying the command from the woman who looked after them for so many years.
“ha ha!” niall smugly laughed, earning himself a slap in the back of his head.
“ma! yer supposed to be on my side!”
“i’m on the side of that young lady over there, who seems like she might need rescuing from your father! he’s brought out the photo album.”
niall shot up and barreled straight towards you, cringing as he saw the plethora of baby photos of him in your hand.
“niall this is the best day of my life!” you squeaked, adding his year four school photo to your growing collection.
“t’ank ya dad, i really appreciate this” niall remarked sarcastically, only to be met with a scoff from the two of you.
“it wasn’t my idea, son! it was your mam’s!”
“oh i’m sure it was. cmon baby, for my sanity we need to stop before you reach the blonde chapter.” which only made your eyes shine brighter.
“don’t worry love, i’ll mail them to you in the post”
“i’ll be expecting them! thank you for tonight!” you said to his dad, bending down to give him a hug and his whisper of “welcome to the family” didn’t escape niall.
you liked your fingers with niall’s and he gave your hand a squeeze in question, you squeezed his hands back, letting him know you’re okay. it was something you guys came up with when you first started going public.
“taking her away from us so soon, mate?” mully called, santa hat sitting skewed on his head.
“blink twice if he’s kidnapping you, love, yeah?” deo joined in making you laugh.
“don’t know WHAT you see in him y/n!”
“leave him alone, it’s the holidays, let them have thier fun.” mully winked and covered his eyes.
niall laughed loudly, cheeks flushed from the alcohol and the implication as he tucked you under his arm and led you up the stairs, letting you pause and coo at the baby photos that littered the wall.
he opened his door, sighing at his childhood bedroom being exactly how he left it. you flopped on the bed and wrapped yourself up in his comforter, only your eyes peering up at him. he sent you a soft, love stricken smile, or maybe it hadn’t left his face all night.
“any room for a lad in there?” he asked, his sweater and trousers coming off with swiftness. you lifted the blanket and he slid in next to you, his arm wrapping around you immediately as he pulled you into his side.
“did you have fun tonight, lover?” he asked, his tone riddled with anxiety. he loved his family more than anything, but he loved you so much it scared him sometimes, and he didn’t know what he would do if you didn’t like them.
“it was so much fun, i ate too much though”
he tssked at that as you continued “but i love them already, even if i couldn’t understand them half the time”
niall let out a laugh and you burrowed your face into his chest, “strong accents we have, yeah. you’ll need to get used to it because they love you, baby, don’t think they ever want you to leave. especially annie, t’ink you guys are best friends now”
“you really think they liked me, ni?”
he thought back to the conversation his dad had with him as you were playing cars with theo, about how much he liked you, and how niall better not fuck this up. a smirk played on his lips at the memory, “i know they loved you, darling. not as much as i do though”
you giggled again, the sound cutting through the cold air and your eyes shut as his familiar scent overtook you. “wait, baby, before y’go to sleep. i wanna give you your present.”
“now? what about tomorrow morning?”
niall sat you up, wrapping the blanket around your shoulders and then reached under the bed, pulling out a silver bag. “as much as i love ‘em down there, there are some things i just want between us. is that okay?” he asked, his voice so loving that you nodded automatically. how could you ever deny him anything?
“i hope you like it, its not much, but-“
you cut him off before he could continue, “oh shush ni”
you pulled out the long velvet box, opening the top and a gold bracelet shined up at you, leannán, engraved in the pendant. you ran your fingers over the lettering, taking in the beautiful piece of jewelry.
“it’s lover… that’s what it says, in irish.”
you gasped and looked up at him and he didn’t meet your eye. “niall, look at me”
his head snapped up at you, his blue eyes swallowed by his dilated pupils, “it’s beautiful, the most beautiful thing i own, thank you lover.”
his stare bored into yours as he pressed his forehead to yours, “anything for you, lover.”
the romantic atmosphere clouded around you and you could live in it forever, but you still had your gift to give to niall, and you were really excited. his arms reached out for you as you slid off the bed and you smiled at the sight before you. he looked so small, hair fluffy and flat against his head, legs tucked under each other, in nothing but his boxers as his baby blanket was spread across his lap, yet he took up so much space, in any room he was in, he was the only thing you could keep your eyes on.
you reached into your suitcase, finding the green and red wrapped box and your heart sank as the pieces inside rattled. you silently prayed that the present you put so much thought into wasn’t ruined but your suspicions were confirmed when you ripped the top off the box, not paying attention to niall’s attentive stare on you. the little silver sphere was smashed.
your eyes immediately watered as the shards of glass sat in your palms, broken and painful, exactly how you and this situation felt at the moment.
“oh ni, i’m so sorry”
niall scooted closer to you on the bed, his knees bumping into yours, as he looked down at the cracked figurine.
“i swear i wrapped it up properly i don’t know what happened, it was a replica of the moon the day we went to that launch, and i swear, it was super detailed and everything and now its all ruined”
niall’s mouth fell open a little as he took in the remaining pieces, tuning the rest of your stuttered apology out. he remembered that day perfectly, the day his friend over at Nasa flew to the space station, he remembered how excited he was when they played his song before take off, how he nearly broke his neck looking from the rocket to you, childish joy coursing through his veins. that was back in may, you must have been working on this for months.
“and i can get you something new, i promise-“ your voice cracked over your words, head down, unable to look into his eyes but the gold bracelet taunted you as it sat on your wrist.
before you could choke out any more sentiments, niall tipped your chin up and placed a fleeting kiss on your lips. and then another. and another. covering your face in hard presses of his lips, his fingers slowly removing the glass from yours and setting it on the comforter behind him.
“no, niall you don’t understand-“
“i understand perfectly, angel, and i’m so grateful” he whispered against the crown of your head as he continued to press kisses down to your jaw.
“b-but i don’t have anything to give you” you meekly replied, eyes glassy.
niall looked down at you and his heart melted and bled onto the expanse of his chest. you were such a giver, it was in your nature, to give people your time and love without hesitation. it was one of the things he loved most about you, but you coming with him to his home, the place he loves most in the entire world -save for when he’s by your side- playing with his little cousins, and listening to his da and uncles tell you every embarrassing story of him they could think of, it was all more than enough. it was enough to make him want to bring heaven down to earth for you, for you were his angel. and crying over a broken present, not because it was a waste of your time and money, but because you didn’t have any present for him, made him look at you like you hung the moon and the stars.
and he told you just that, the redness of your face going from sadness to love as he showered you in declarations of his love, pushing you back on his childhood bed (that was too small for two people, leaving niall with his calves hanging off the bed, but he didn't mind) and kissing his devotion into you, for it was too much for him to say, as the twinkling lights of mullingar at christmas time shone through the window.

Dear Mutuals and Followers,
When I started this blog nearly six months ago(ish?) I never expected to fall so in love with the lovely people in this community. You have been wonderful and supportive and I have truly enjoyed getting to know you, and talking to you, and loving BTS proudly alongside of you. Thank you for every moment, I have so many truly incredible moots - ALL of whom are SIGNIFICANTLY cooler than I am - and if I attempted to list you all, my perpetually scattered brain would no doubt forget someone and I’d have to fall apart dramatically about it. So...to all of you - thank you for following me. I am so bloomin thrilled that you do. To my amazing mutuals - each and every one of you are brilliant creators and supportive members of our community and I benefit every day from the art and positive energy you bring to my dash. Thank you so much...
to my hearts...
There are a few of you who have been much closer than others and you I must recognize with only these inadequate words...
I utterly adore you. Thank you for being my friend.
▨ Amazing Ana @xjoonchildx  ▨ Wonderful Lindy @ppersonna ▨ Sweet Sunshine Donna @taetaewonderland ▨ My First Friend and Angel Jahni @glossyfever  ▨ Fabulous Lemon @lemonjoonah ▨  and my fellow Thirst Queen Reese (there is a line in this fic I wrote just for you - you’ll prolly know right away) @luxekook ▨
Honestly there are many more names I could put on this list, Many more people I have grown close to and I will continue to grow close too - believe me when I say - I luv and appreciate you all, but there are 7 members of BTS and these 6 ladies are - in many ways - my “other 6.” The roles they have played in my growth as a writer and a creator have been significant. They read my work, encourage me, hype me up, share my finished products, and - most importantly - share their friendship. I am blessed to be a part of their world.
Thank You All... My Lovlies...
- Viola

Summary: Jeon Jungkook is the handsome RA that you could never quite bring yourself to talk to, and you are the ice princess whose status kept you far out of his reach... But a selfless act of kindness in the midst of a terrible storm forges an unexpected bond between you - one that could break your guarded heart... or finally set it free.
• ▨ ▨ ▨ ▨ • ▨ ▨ ▨ ▨ •
This is the song JK sings...
• ▨ ▨ ▨ ▨ • ▨ ▨ ▨ ▨ •
You’re afraid of storms.
Born to privilege (at least so you’ve been told), but money could not buy the love of absent parents, nor could it purchase any sort of freedom from the kind of fear that gripped you now.
You shouldn’t even be here...
Alone in a dorm while everyone around you caught planes and trains and buses back to their diverse points of origin.
The girl who usually slept in the bed across from yours is your roommate and  best friend since sophomore year of high school. She was a scholarship case at the elite private prep where the obscenely wealthy dynasties of Southern California sent their entitled spawn.
A lone pair of Chuck Taylors in a sea of Jimmy Choos.
And a breath of fresh air.
Her father worked in stores; your father owned them. Yet you had become sisters in the truest sense of the word.
When the storms came, she climbed into your bed and held you till the thunder died down.
But she and the comfort of her familiar embrace were 30,000 feet above you now; well on the way to celebrate the spring holidays with her chaotic tribe.
You could have escaped for the week - like the majority of your peers - but your father was on vacation with his new wife (who graduated from high school a mere four years before you did) and the dorms were infinitely more inviting than the sterile halls of your family’s real estate holdings.
So here you were.
Alone in a storm.
Or so you thought...
Being an RA looked good on resumes and paid better than most work study jobs, but for Jeon Jungkook, the obligation to stay in the dorms over spring break (when he could be chasing music festivals along the California coast) was a definite downside.
He heard the sobs on his way up from the laundry and dropped the basket of clean clothes on the stairs.
Only one person signed up to stay over the holidays - the only person who managed to spark shivers down his spine without effort or awareness.
The princess.
That’s what they called you when they thought you weren’t listening - an unoriginal label laced with jealousy and petty bitterness.
But it fit you, nonetheless.
Elegant even when you were clumsy. Distant even in a crowd. Reserved in ways that spoke of intensive social training and endless expectations.
And you were screaming.
His hand wrapped around your doorknob in a matter of seconds, but you could not hear him calling out to you over the thunder and the ringing in your ears.
You did not hear the lock splinter when he slammed his body against the frame like his father taught him to do in case of a fire or an emergency.
Jungkook saw you often in and out of the dorms - yet you never really spoke to him, never offered him more than the occasional pleasantry or disinterested smile.
He was out of your orbit and you were out of his league.
But the princess was nowhere in sight now...
Now you were just a terrified girl curled up on her bed and Jungkook felt his heart wrench painfully at the sight of you so untethered.
You could not see him - even though he stood right in front of you. It wasn’t till his hands connected with your shoulders that you finally registered the presence of another human being and slowly brought your eyes up to meet his.
There was a moment of silence as your gazes melded together in a strange intimate haze unlike anything either of you had encountered before.
Then you reached out - curling your hand into the loose fabric of his shirt as you yanked him down on top of you.
“Please,” you whispered into the firm plane of his chest, “please hold me.”
Strong muscled arms wrapped around you.
And for the first time in so very long...
You felt safe.
He smelled like fresh laundry and a hint of vanilla.
But oh...
He felt like home.
Not the many houses you grew up in - but a home. The kind you only ever heard of.
“It’s ok,” he whispered, lips pressed intimately to the sweet softness of your hair, “I’ve got you.”
Thunder shook the room again and you burrowed impossibly closer to him, too frightened to notice that you wore only a t-shirt and nothing else, too terrified to care that the haven you sought was the beautiful man you passed by countless times in last few months, but could never quite work up the courage to speak to.
Now your body tangled desperately with his, drawing immeasurable comfort from his solid warmth and the soothing circles he traced over your back.
Jungkook was profoundly aware of both your state of undress and the soft curves of your body pressed insistently against his own, but that awareness paled in comparison to the fierce wave of protectiveness swelling up within him.
You were no damsel in distress. You were brilliant, beautiful, and president of the self-defense club. He’d seen you flip a linebacker over your shoulder like a pancake during a demonstration once (which had given him an immediate boner for reasons he deliberately never explored).
But right now - right here - in this moment - you needed him... and holding you close - keeping you safe was the only thing on his mind.
The tremors came and went sporadically as the storm raged on around you. His arms were an anchor each time the fear threatened to sweep you away.
It took a few minutes for your scattered senses to identify the new sound braiding hypnotically in between the rolls of thunder and the rhythmic cadence of your own breathing.
Jeon Jungkook was singing to you.
Another time it might have amused you to consider that a man whose face and form bordered on sinful possessed a voice that was utterly angelic. The notes he sang curled through the air, piercing effortlessly past the fog to wrap over your heart like a warm blanket.
“I see you getting sad... I see it running through your blood...”
Your muscles began to relax. The pounding in your chest began to slow.
“Let it run like water out of mud...”
Your breathing gradually evened out.
“Yell the sadness loud... Throw it up against the wall...”
Sensation crept back into your limbs. Awareness returned.
“See what stays then go and put it on... It keeps you warm…”
And suddenly you were in his arms - truly in his arms for the first time that night.
“I will love you anyway with all your demons in the way… Nothing can keep us apart...I walk through walls into your heart…”
His warmth was everywhere. The gentle comfort he brushed over your skin swirled around you till the sound of the storm faded away.
Till there was only him.
“I don’t mind… I don’t mind… I don’t ...mind…”
He felt the change in you, the incremental return from disconnected terror to tentative presence of mind, but you made no move to disentangle yourself, content to let his touch and his voice chase away the last trace of your nightmare.
You would stay in this moment - safe and surrounded and so unexpectedly content - forever if you could.
Jeon Jungkook had found you adrift and pulled you back from the edge. He’d done what no one else could..
What no one else (save your best friend) had even bothered to try.
And he’d done it selflessly.
As a corporate princess, you were worth millions in assets, but so often left begging for pittance when it came to genuine care.
You would have paid millions to be held like this just once.
The adrenaline raging through your body finally began to dissipate, and in its immediate wake, exhaustion crashed over you heavy and hard.
Sleep tugged insistently at the corners of your mind, but one last coherent urge burned so brightly that it could not be ignored or overtaken.
Your fingers twisted into the thick curls at the nape of his neck, drawing him down till you felt the soft press of his lips against your own.
You had never kissed like this; intimately - languidly - as if the brush of his mouth against yours was familiar across worlds and lifetimes. The small intake breath before he gave in to your gentle exploration was the loveliest sound you had ever heard.
He was the song that drew you - not like a siren to your doom - but like a lighthouse to the shore.

“Normal” (r.b.)
Tumblr media
pairing: robin buckley x reader
summary: robin was always scared to say how she really felt. especially when it came to who she felt these feelings about. but with the help of a little truth serum and a badly timed bathroom break, it all comes out. whether she wanted it to or not.
warnings: itty bitty language
a/n: enjoy the gayness lovlies
Robin was starting to grow sick of watching Steve chase every girl that set foot in Scoops Ahoy. The second-hand embarrassment was growing too much for her, and she knew that if he used that stupid ‘captain’ line again, she’d snap.
“Damn it,” Steve muttered. Two girls were walking away, giggling to themselves as he turned to face her. Robin rolled her eyes and uncapped the infamous expo marker. With a long squeak, she added another strike to the ‘YOU SUCK’ side of the whiteboard.
“0 for 7, dingus,” Robin said. It was much less fun than it was in the beginning, it was just kind of… sad now.
Steve took his company hat off and ran his hands over his face and through his hair.
“You gotta wash your hands now, Harrington.”
Steve glared at her and went into the back, where Robin and the sink resided. “I’m off my game,” he said to himself.
“Are you talking to yourself now?” Robin laughed.
“Oh hush up, Robin.”
“Give it up, dingus. Just scoop ice cream like the rest of us-”
The two of them looked up at the sound of the bell on the counter dinging.
You looked around, waiting for someone to come help you, while Steve was drying his hands.
Robin felt her heart flutter as she watched your eyes flit around the fluorescently lit store. She’d seen you before during the school year, you were smart, kind, beautiful. It was the third time she’d felt like that around a girl. You had a class together last year. Robin often took classes a grade above her own, so the two of you had second period together. Robin’s stomach would do backflips whenever you asked her for a pencil, digging frantically through her bag to find one that hadn’t been chewed on. Her cheeks would get hot whenever you smiled and said thank you, your fingers brushing as you took it from her. Not even Tammy Thompson from her freshman year could make her feel like that.
Robin panicked as Steve made his way back to the front, she couldn’t let him screw this up! She grabbed him quickly by the back of the uniform.
“O-ow! Robin!” Steve nearly yelled. The chatter in the shop died for a bit before picking back up. “What the hell?” he turned a bit, his shirt still in her hands
“Don’t,” she whispered harshly.
“Don’t what?” Steve whispered back.
“Her,” Robin pointed towards the counter, the door blocking her from your view. “Don’t do your ‘King Steve’ routine, alright?” Steve laughed.
“Why? Don’t you love racking up points on your stupid board over there?”
“Look, as entertaining as it was— it’s lost its charm,” Steve rolled his eyes. “Besides, I just… I don’t want you to scare her off.”
Steve blinked at her, confused. He was about to bite back at her, but the look in her eyes stopped him. She looked desperate. After a second, Steve nodded.
“Okay, I won’t do it. But we aren’t counting this one, got it?” Robin nodded.
“Thanks, dingus.”
Steve pushed through the door and up to you at the counter. You smiled happily at his familiar face. “Ahoy there, welcome to scoops,” his voice feigned pep and zeal. You couldn’t help but laugh.
“Summer job going well, Steve?” Robin felt her stomach flip again, but this time it made her sick. You were in Steve’s grade, of course, you would remember him… but what about her? Would you remember that awkward junior who choked on her own air every time you looked at her? Steve shrugged and leaned his weight onto the counter.
“I’m getting paid right? Gets my dad off my back too, so,” he shrugged again. “What can I get you…” he racked his brain for your name, you were familiar but he couldn’t for the life of him place you. You noticed and decided to help him out.
“Y/N,” you said.
“Right! Y/N, course. Sorry about that it’s just-”
“Don’t worry about it. I kept mostly to myself, we ran in different circles. No big deal,” you peered into the freezer case and tapped the glass over one of the gallons. “I’ll take a cup of the U.S.S Butterscotch, please.”
Steve nodded and scooped her a hefty cup of ice cream. He’d overfill the cups for customers he liked, it’d only rarely get him in trouble with the manager. He handed you your ice cream and you smiled.
You paid and gave them a hefty tip, Steve thanked you as the bills hit the bottom of the relatively empty tip jar. You were walking back out to the main floor of the mall and turned to say goodbye.
“Thanks, Steve! Oh and say hi to Robin for me!” and with that, you were gone. Robin’s eyes widened and she turned away from the front of the store. You remembered her name.
+
You came in a lot that summer. The ice cream was good, the ac was nice, and so was the company. It was always Steve that came out to serve you, you could see Robin peeking around the corners sometimes as she was “washing dishes” but she never said anything.
One time, you caught her staring. Robin just about jumped out of her skin, making her drop an ice cream scooper into the soapy water. A drop found its way into her eye and she let out a very quiet, angry, hiss in pain as she ducked out of view.
Steve pushed his way into the back to find her kneeling near the floor rubbing her eyes.
“You alright, Robin?” she nodded wordlessly. “You sure?”
“Yes, dingus! Just go back to slinging ice cream!”
“Okay then,”
She hoped against hope that maybe you’d finally say something to her… or that she’d get the courage to say something to you, but of course summer in Hawkins could only remain normal for so long. Being kidnapped and drugged by Russians was definitely putting a damper on her hopes for a summer romance. As she puked her guts out into the Starcourt toilet, she couldn’t help but think of you. Which only made her want to throw up more. Robin wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and laid down against the cool, dirty, tile floor.
“The ceiling’s stopped spinning for me,” she said quietly. “Is it still spinning for you?”
“Holy shit,” Steve muttered back. “No. Do you think we puked it all up?”
“Maybe. Ask me something… interrogate me,” as soon as the words left her mouth she realized how bad of an idea it might be. What if he asked about her love life? Previous crushes, first kiss... you?  Lucky for Robin, he was still a little too drugged out to think of a juicy question.
“When, uh, when was the last time you peed your pants?” Robin laughed and answered giddily. Even then she couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Maybe she did want him to ask. Maybe she finally wanted to get it all out on the table, to finally tell someone who she really was. To finally be true to herself. Or maybe she was still a little high.
“Steve, can I tell you something?” she asked after a moment. Steve pushed his way under the side bathroom wall and over to her. Robin picked at the hem of her uniform shorts. “I, um, I like you, I really like you. I don’t want to scare you off but… I have to tell you, I’m not like your other friends.”
“Robin… I like you too,” oh shit. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.
“No, I mean I’m not… I’m not like Nancy Wheeler.”
“That’s exactly why I like you—”
“Do you remember what I said about Click’s class? About me being jealous and like… obsessed?” he nodded. “It isn’t because I had a crush on you. It’s because she wouldn’t stop staring at you.”
“Mrs. Click?”
“Tammy Thompson,” Robin shook her head, embarrassed. “I wanted her to look at me. But she couldn’t pull her eyes away from you and I didn’t get it because you were a douchebag. You’d ask dumb questions and get bagel crumbs all over the floor and I would go home and scream into my pillow. And it… it scared me because-—”
“Because Tammy Thompson’s a girl?”
“Yeah… a girl.”
“Holy shit,” he said softly. Steve didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t lie, he felt a little dejected about yet another mark on the YOU SUCK board, but… he liked Robin— he liked her as a friend and he nothing could really change that, he didn’t think anyway.
“You OD over there?” Robin said after a long beat of silence.
“No… just thinking.”
Shit. This was the first time she’d ever really gotten close to someone and now this was going to mess it all up. She could feel her chest tighten as Steve failed to meet her gaze, silence hung heavy in the air. Take it all back. Haha, it was a joke! Go back to “normal,” don’t be an outlier. But it was too late. What was said had been said, and now all she could do was wait anxiously for Steve to say anything, and hope that she hadn’t scared him away.
“Tammy Thompson… interesting,” Robin looked up at him. “You still like her?”
“I don’t know… no, I guess? Why?” a small smile played at Steve’s lips.
“Like sure, she’s cute and all, but… she’s a total dud! She wants to be a singer— move to Nashville or some shit!”
“She has dreams!”
“She can’t even hold a tune!” he laughed. Robin wanted to cry. She’d never had a friend like Steve before, even if he had been an asshole. Past tense. “So who do you like now?” he asked after a beat of laughter from the two of them.
“N-no one.”
“Don’t even try to lie. That truth serum is still in there somewhere, I know it is.”
She picked at the hem of her shorts again. “I’m not lying—”
“Y/N, that girl from my grade that comes into Scoops all the time,” she only stopped picking for a second, but Steve caught it. He grabbed her hand excitedly.
“Ah hah!”
“What?”
“You— the shorts— you’d suck at poker! I knew you liked her! Well, I didn’t know, but now that you told me about Tammy Thompson it all makes sense. The hiding behind the sink, the begging me not to flirt with her!”
“Okay, okay! Yes, you got me. I like Y/N—” the door swung open cutting her off.
You had a small bladder and always had to get up in the middle of a movie. Robin and Steve had unknowingly run into the girl's bathroom. And there you three were, them sitting on the nasty floor, you standing above them awkwardly. After a moment you lifted your hand slightly to give them a small wave, the urge to pee completely gone. Steve waved back while Robin sat there mortified. How much had you heard? Enough.
“H-hey guys,” you said.
“Hi Y/N,” Steve said back, being way too cool about this.
“I’m gonna…” you pointed at the farthest stall and walked quickly towards it. Maybe what you heard was a misunderstanding?
As soon as the latch on the door clicked, Robin jumped to her feet, wiped the remaining puke off the toilet seat, and walked swiftly out of the bathroom. Her cheeks were burning as she made her way back to the main floor of the mall and could hear faint laughter from Steve behind her. She spun on her heel to face him.
“Don’t laugh!” she said angrily, which only made him laugh more. “It’s not funny! Holy shit I’m so embarrassed! How much do you think she heard?”
“No idea, Robin but—“
“Shit! Shit oh my god, I’m so stupid—“
“Okay! What the hell?” Dustin yelled as he and Erica stormed up to them. Steve was still laughing while Robin turned to look at them. Tears pricked in her eyes as mortification overwhelmed her. “We have Russians on our asses and I told you one thing! Stay put!”
“Alright! Lighten up, dad,” Steve said as he collected himself.
“If you say that one more time, Steve, I swear!” Dustin began pushing the two of them back to the bathroom and Robin tried to dig her heels into the tile floor. But it was no use.
They crashed through the door, making you jump. You hadn’t used the restroom and instead were just sitting in there trying to process everything you thought you heard. You could hear four voices whispering so you peered through the crack in the stall door. Steve and Robin were back, now with two kids. You could see them looking around through the door, ducking back in and holding it closed as people crossed its path. They were hiding from something.
You pushed the stall door open gently, as the curly-haired boy whipped around to face you. You’d seen him before, he was friends with Jonathan Byer’s younger brother. He huffed angrily through his nose and pointed at you. Okay, rude.
“Who the hell is this?” Robin and Steve looked up at you. You felt your cheeks tinge pink as she looked at you.
“Oh, uh, that’s Y/N,” Steve said. “Y/N, Dustin Henderson and Erica Sinclair,” he gestured at the two kids. You started to say hi when Dustin cut you off.
“Great, now get out!” you blinked at him, unsure of what to do. All four of them were blocking the door, you couldn’t really move even if you wanted to. Which you didn’t. “Seriously, you gotta go!”
“I— I don’t want to,” you said quietly. “Robin, Steve, what’s going on?” you asked, only now noticing Steve’s swollen eye. “Holy shit, Steve what happened to your face?”
“Don’t answer that—” Dustin said.
“Russians, they kidnapped us and are trying to kill us,” Robin said, finally. “They run everything at the mall and are trying to open some sort of alien gate under Hawkins. We’re hiding from them,” Dustin rolled his eyes.
“Great! Now there’s another person for me to look after!” Dustin ran a hand over his face before looking at you. “Well, now that you know you can’t go back out there. Y/N right?” he asked, even though he’d just been told your name a minute ago. You nodded. “Get down.”
You did, coming up behind Robin and kneeling behind her. She could feel your breath on her shoulder and it took all of her self control not to scream.
“Okay, that movie’s almost over. As soon as it’s done and they start clearing out, we’re gonna get in the crowd and leave. Got it? Just act normal!” He poked his head out to watch the theater doors, you leaned in only to lose your balance. You caught and steadied yourself with the help of Robin’s shoulder, but you didn’t let go. You hadn’t even realized you’d done it until you looked down.
“Sorry,” you said quickly and dropped your hand. You cheeks became even pinker now.
“‘S okay,” she murmured. Robin glanced down at your hand. You had a coat of polish on your fingernails, it’d only just started to chip. Robin had a habit of biting her nails down to the quick, she had hangnails all over her hands, and the constant washing of scoopers to clean up the store had made them dry. But your hands, they looked so incredibly soft. All she wanted to do was lace her fingers in yours and feel your incredibly soft skin against hers—
“Are you ready?” Dustin hissed, snapping her out of it. “And… blend,” you jumped in with the crowd. Eyes low to the ground as you made your way to the front gates of the mall. “Home sweet home, here we come.”
“Uh, yeah, we may not want to go back to your house,” Steve murmured.
“Why?”
“I may have told them your full name,”
“Steve! What the hell?” the two bickered for a while as you grew closer and closer to the exit. But something caught your eye.
“Uh guys, men with guns,” is all you can think to say. Four guards lined the door, looking through everyone’s bags.
“Shit, they’re checking everyone.”
“We gotta hide! C’mon!” Robin pulled you back, grabbing your wrist blindly before sliding down between the escalators. Steve and the kids ducked behind one of the store counters while you and Robin hid behind another. Your heart pounded in your chest as your shoulder pressed tightly against Robin’s.
The two of you were still very much in the dark about the strange things happening in Hawkins, and everything felt like it happened all at once. The car displayed in the mall flew over your heads, across the food court, knocking the Russian guards to the ground. More kids, Jonathan Byers, Nancy Wheeler, a giant fucking monster. Your brain tried to explain everything, to convince yourself that it was all a dream. But the pain in your neck from ramming into Billy’s car, the blood on your hands from helping to patch up a young girl’s leg, the feeling of heat from the fire that had consumed Starcourt mall, made that impossible.
It blended all together. But it was real. With a shock blanket around your shoulders, you made your way over to Robin and Steve, who were sitting in the back of one of the many ambulances at the scene. You smiled at them lightly and they nodded back. It took you a minute to find them as it had been parked pretty far from the rest of the action, but you were relieved when you finally did. You sat down beside Robin.
“You okay?” Steve asked.
“Ask me tomorrow?” you said and Robin laughed.
“Yeah… makes sense.”
“How are you so cool with this?” you asked leaning over to look at Steve.
“Stuff like this… happens here all the time. I just got used to it I guess,” you shook your head in disbelief.
“Giant monsters, girls with magic powers—”
“Not magic, she was an experiment. The government took El from her mom and tested on her for years,” you shook your head again. You were tired, the weight of your own head on your shoulders was growing too much for you, and you laid your head on Robin’s shoulder. The rain had matted your hair to the side of your face but you didn’t care to move it away. Robin sat up a little straighter at the contact.
“Oh, uh…” is all she said. Steve smiled at her and hopped up, crudely folding the blanket and tossing it towards the front of the ambulance.
“I’m gonna get going. My car’s still in the employee lot and I don’t think the fire’s spread there yet,” you nodded sleepily. “Either of you need a ride?”
“No, I’m just gonna sit here for a while. My car’s pretty far down into the lot and I can give Robin a ride home,” you said. “Is that okay?” you looked up at her from your position on her shoulder. She nodded quickly. Steve’s smile only widened before bidding you goodbye.
The two of you sat in silence for a moment, the flash of police lights shown in your eyes.
“Not exactly how I expected my summer to go,” you said. “I always knew Hawkins was weird, but I never thought it was this fucked.”
Robin let out a short laugh before turning to you slightly. You picked up your head to look at her. “Y/N, I- I’m sorry,” she couldn’t look at you, picking at the hem of her shorts again. “I didn’t mean to drag you into this and… and about what I said in the bathroom,” how the hell could she explain that? “I mean, Steve and I were drugged. Who knows what they put in there, you know? I was high off my ass, not thinking straight, I—” you cut her off by placing a kiss on her cheek. “Uh… what?”
“Robin,” you said quietly, pulling her hands away from her shorts and into your own. They were as soft as she imagined. “I like you too.”
Holy. Shit.
“I mean how could I not. I thought you were so cool. So unapologetically yourself. So smart! I… I asked you for a pencil every day last year, you know that? And I never gave them back because I hoped you’d come up to me during passing and ask me for them,” you laughed and shook your head. “I didn’t really… get it before. All I knew was I wanted you to talk to me. I wanted you to talk to me so I could see you again and I was confused about why… but now I know,” you ran your thumb over the back of her hand. “I like you, Robin. A lot.”
She didn’t know what to say. Robin sat there with a dumb look on her face. Her mouth was slightly agape as she waited for you to finish pulling the wool over her eyes. But you didn’t.
“Robin?” you asked quietly.
“You… you thought I was cool?” she said. You chuckled and brought your hand up to her cheek.
“Can I…” Robin nodded and you leaned in. Your lips pressed to hers, moving slowly, gently. You had a boyfriend your freshman year, kissing him never felt like this. Robin had never kissed anyone before, let alone a girl. But both of you knew this felt right.
You never wanted to stop touching her, feeling her, but the sound of boots on gravel slowly approaching you made you pull away.
“You ladies want a ride to the hospital? Parents can pick you up there,” the EMT said once he reached you. You shook your head and told him your car was in the lot and stood, handing over the blanket. Robin did the same, thanking him before coming up beside you.
The heat from the fire died away as you walked, and voices grew fainter and fainter as the two of you made your way into the dark. Only a few lamps in the parking lot had remained lit, barely enough light for you to find your way back to your car, which was still a ways away. You brushed hands with Robin, barely touching her so as not to draw attention from the crowd of police officers and firemen. But as soon as they were out of earshot you felt Robin catch your pinky with hers. She pulled your hand into hers, her fingers dancing across your own until you were finally in her grasp.
She stopped under directly under a street lamp, the bright light illuminating her skin. You stopped too and she pulled you in closer.
This time she kissed you. Pulling away with a small “Woah,” making both of you laugh.
Both of you knew your feelings weren’t “normal” in Hawkins, but after tonight… after everything that’d happened in the past three years, what was normal anyway?

US, UF, and UT skelebros with an S/O who obsessively collects mugs?
((Last one in my askbox! Its probably going to be a little bit until i open it again because I have some HC stuff I want to post first!!))
Undertale
Sans
Lock them up tight
You know you just gave himthe holy grail of jokes, right?? How could he—how could he not pull the mugjoke on you once???
You’ll probably ascend toanother plane the first time he does it, because its one thing hearing the joke…but another thing to be on the receiving end of it
All the while Sans will besipping his bowl, contently waiting for you to come back to earth
Papyrus
Will want to drink fromthem
Has a believe that if youhave something, and it has a use, he intends to use it for that (And then some)cause what’s the point of just having it there? To look pretty??? Papyrus lookspretty and he always has a use!!
Still respects yourcollection, but will ask permission to use one every now and then
Probably waits for Sans topull the mug joke (because you know he’s going no matter what)
(After said joke is pulled:
“AGH SANS! THAT WAS HORRIBLE!AND TO THINK I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE HUMANS LOVLY COLLECTION OF DECORTIVE CUPSHAD BEEN….”
Cue dramatic pausefollowed by shifty eye lights
“…MUGGED!”)
Underswap
Sky
A~DOR~ABLE
Loves that you havesomething that you like to collect, and very much thinks its cute when youcome home carting another mug to add to your collection
Asks the stories behindthem, if you remember where you got this pretty colored one! And! Oh!! This onereminds him of the color of your soul!! And Oh! Oh! This one looks like hismagic!!
(You’re going to findthose last two placed next to each other at some point, don’t move them, he thinksthey belong together)
Pappy
Has a habit of rearrangingthings, this includes your mugs
If Pappy sees a way themugs could be moved around to make it more aesthetic (Say, in color order) hemay just go ahead and do that when he gets a burst of energy
(also kind of needs thevisual change every now and then)
If you’re cool with himdoing it then its nbd, if it bothers you then maybe talk to him about it andhell understand, he kind of did it without thinking the first time anyway
Is the most likely to break one. Then panicand scramble to replace it before you notice. Like full on rushing out of the houserunning to every store near by and then some all the while searching on ebay inhopes he can fix it ASAP
The guilt will eat at himeven after he replaces the mug. Will confess in the most dramatic way possibleall the while begging for your forgiveness.
Forgive him, please, he’sprobably punished himself enough
Underfell
Red
He doesn’t really see thepoint of it, you just have a collection of something…?? A lot of somethings?? that you’ll never really use??
He believed that everythingyou have should have a purpose (Even his accidental collection has a purpose, avery specific one but still one)
Mostly because of the Undergroundand how limited supplies was (and how you had to fight tooth and nail to get it)so anything he had was only absolutely necessary
But he sees how much youlike them, and he’s not one to deny you anything
When you two move intogether, actually insists you bring your collection, and even makes room forit
(It’s a way to make iteven more permanent. Because, sometimes, he finds it hard to believe yourstaying there for him so having something tangible that you spent years buildingup reassures him in a way. It reminds him that you’re here to stay)
Boss
Another one that needs ause for everything
Doesn’t do anything aboutit, but will sometimes make side comments if you never use the mugs
But then one day you’llcome home and there will be this… spot…just cleared out, and a very pretty, very expensive looking shelving will be there??? And you’ll have no idea whatits for until three days later Boss demands to know why you haven’t placed yourcollection on the very nice display case he made for you! Honestly!! Does hehave to do everything!!
You never see when Boss addsa new piece to your collection, but you’re pretty sure you have at least 10more that you don’t remember buying

I’d love to see another hc about Nicole’s tattoos! Maybe waverly can’t stop telling Nicole how good she looks with a sleeve even weeks after she finds out. Or maybe they’ll be cuddled up watching a movie and Nicole realizes waverlys not even paying attention, just tracing her tattoos. Or maybe she sees Nicole working out in a sleeveless shirt and loses it
I feel like I’m getting a bit of free range here which is both dangerous and good bc I have some ideas
-we know Nicole is all about the Aesthetique so all of her tattoos are black and white
-also, fucking gorgeous. waverly can’t ever keeps her eyes off them or her hands, always running her fingers over the abrasions to feel them
-and Nicole has a lot of outline tattoos, black and white side profiles and flowers and a campfire and all that cool gay shit
-also she has a pride flag tattooed on her arm without colors in the lines, so it just looks like a striped flag and waverly loves it sO MUCH, especially because Nicole is just so damn proud to have it
-and sometimes when Nicole puts on a movie or anything like that, waverly brings out her watercolors
-never the pride flag, though. she’s all too scared what would happen when she had to wash the colors away.
-paints the sunrise on Nicole’s back, paints the mountain range on her rib cage, paints the wolf on her forearm.
-and somehow her painting them brings them to life
-sometimes when waverly’s dripping brown over the wolf’s head Nicole swears she can see it breathing
-one time nicole’s laying on her stomach on the floor and waverly’s straddling her back, painting the sunrise orange on her back
-have you ever thought about getting colored tattoos?
-at first, yeah. but not anymore, not when I’ve got someone who paints them better than anyone else could
-sometimes she lets waverly paint new tattoos onto her entirely, and it’s like a therapy for the both of them
-have you ever regretted any of your tattoos?
-how could I, when I’ve got such an incredible artist to remind me just how beautiful they are?
-ok time to go to the grocery store and do a snack run bc I’m at a laundromat rn but I promise I’m not done w headcanons lovlies

Japan ~ Summer 2018 #2 🎌🚅
Quick introduction: Hello my lovlies!! As most of you might already know, I went to Japan this summer. It was a rather spontaneous decision based on the fact that both Hikaru and Wakana had announced their solo lives. At that point I was suffering from a serious case of Kalafina withdrawal so I felt like I had no choice but to go. I just needed to see them. Also, it was my 30th birthday so I thought I would treat myself. You only turn 30 once, right? On a side note, the timing finally gave me the opportunity to do something I had wanted to do for a few years now. Climb Mount Fuji. o(〃^▽^〃)o So yeah, that’s the backstory of my trip. I stayed in Japan from July 30 till August 14 and pretty much my entire trip was dedicated to Kalafina Pilgrimage. Let me tell you this, it was by far the best summer vacation of my life, worth each and every penny! And believe me, there were a LOT of pennies involved XD
Notes: Once again this is coming pretty late but not as late as my previous travel report so that’s a good thing. It took some time to gather my thoughts and put them all into words. This report will be a bit different from the last one since I thought it would be nice to include some travel tips here and there. I guess you could see this as some sort of travel guide/Kala-guide. Many of my followers have never been to Japan so I guess some general info would be useful to make things easier for you if you ever decide to travel to Japan.
Please note that this is Part 2 of my report. It is dedicated to my time in Toyama. Part 1 can be found HERE!
Without further ado, let’s get to it 〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→
Aug 4 (Sat) ~ Toyama Trip
I decided I would dedicate that entire day to a Toyama trip. I made the mistake of not reserving a seat in advance for the shinkansen. I usually always do that but for some reason I didn’t think the train to Toyama would be that frequented. Turns out I was wrong (at least when it comes to the fast bullet train - the Kagayaki). When I got to Ueno that morning I was planning to take one of the earlier trains but it was already completely booked out. Later on I found out that Aug 4/5 was the Toyama Matsuri weekend so it's really no surprise that all the shinkansen seats had already been reserved. I ended up getting a ticket for the 10:14 Kagayaki which meant I would arrive in Toyama around noon (a little later than planned but oh well, there was nothing that could be done about it). It was my first time taking the Hokuriku Shinkansen so I splurged a little on a fancy ekiben °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖° For those of you who don’t know, ekibens are bento boxes sold at train stations. You can eat them on a long shinkansen ride. There are so many different types to choose from. But I’d personally recommend the one I got. The E7 Bento Box. Like many others, the Hokuriku shinkansen has a very distinctive look so of course, it also has its very own bento box XD And boy, is it a cute box! Perfect to keep as a souvenir. And the good thing about it, there’s mostly stuff in it that I actually eat (I am a VERY picky eater!). The special Ueno Coca Cola bottle is also cute as hell btw!
Tumblr media
The ride to Toyama takes a little over two hours I think. I arrived around noon (maybe at 12:30 or something). Shortly before I arrived I realised that I had forgotten my USB cable. I brought my charging battery but it was useless to me without a USB cable At that point I had already used my phone quite extensively and my battery was at around 60%. I was already starting to panic a little because I had all these plans for Toyama but they required me to use google maps, without google maps to rely on, I wouldn’t be able to find ANY of the places I wanted to visit. When I arrived I was greeted by a gorgeous little street festival, right outside of Toyama Station there were lots of people gathering around a handful of dance groups. It was quite pretty and spectacular. But at that point I was already scared to use my phone for anything except google maps so I didn’t take any pictures. *sobs* Such a shame. First I made my way to the Nanakosi shop that sells those pastries Hikaru mentioned in the 10th Anniversary Film. It’s located inside the Sōgawa Ferio Grand Plaza which is about a 20 min walk away from Toyama Station. Usually 20 min is nothing for me and I always try to explore new areas on foot but man, it was hell to go there. It was really hot that day and my battery was dropping faster than expected in the heat. Google maps was constantly crashing on me and it didn’t seem to work properly. I kept going the wrong way (please note that I have no sense of direction whatsoever). So yeah, I was a mess. Frantically I was trying to find a shop that sold USB cables but for some reason I had a really hard time finding one. Usually they sell those in conbinis but I couldn’t even find one of those. Plus, I was scared to venture too far away from my route since I thought I might get lost. Thank God I eventually managed to find a 100 yen shop. They have everything, including USB cables. After that I was able to relax and focus on my Hikaru pilgrimage.
So yeah, like I said, I was walking towards Ferio Grand Plaza. On my way there I passed Toyama Castle. It’s a nice little castle with a small garden but nothing to write home about. When I arrived at Grand Plaza I was greeted by yet another festival. A nice little wind ensemble was playing popular songs such as “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid, it was quite epic. They were all wearing uniforms, it was some sort of commemorative event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Toyama police department band or something .
Tumblr media
Grand Plaza is a really nice gathering place that’s protected by a glass ceiling but it’s still outdoors. It’s a wide open space and often used as venue for events like the one mentioned above. While enjoying the concert I bought myself one of those infamous Nanakosi pastries.
Tumblr media
I got the one with custard because I am not a fan of the standard bean filling. I’ll be real with you, it wasn’t all that great (sorry, Pika-chan T_T). I think it might be more enjoyable in winter but during a hot summer day it was just too much (and that’s coming from someone who can usually eat a lot of sweet stuff). There was just too much filling. It was a struggle to finish it. Afterwards I walked around the Ferio Grand Plaza area a bit to find the Doutor Coffee shop that Hikaru had worked at in her student days. It’s very close to the Nanakosi shop so everyone should be able to find it quickly. It’s the Toyama Sōgawa shop in case any of you want to check it out ( 〒930-0083 Toyama-ken, Toyama-shi, Sōgawa, 3 Chome−5−4 アキオビル 1F).
Tumblr media
My next stop was the Yamaha Music Center which was also mentioned in the 10th Anniversary Film. It’s only a 10-minute walk from Grand Plaza (although I took a lot longer because google maps was messing with me again or maybe I was just too stupid to follow the directions, I don’t know). At any rate, the center is a little hidden away in the backstreets of Toyama so it wasn’t exactly easy to find. Of course the heat made everything seem a lot worse XD. Here’s the address for those of you who want to go there one day => 富山音楽センター 〒930-0049 富山県富山市豊川町5-6
Then it was time to head north, to Kansui Park. You simply follow the river for about 30 minutes and then you are there, it felt really nice to walk along the riverside, the trees were providing some shade, there was a nice breeze so close to the water and you could listen to the cicadas singing. Oh boy, I underestimated how loud they could actually get. I had never heard them before because I always travel to Japan in the winter time.
Kansui Park is absolutely gorgeous! This is where Kalafina performed during the Stardust Illusion Festival. I summarised Hikaru’s blog post from that day. She talks about how that was one of the most special lives for her so of course I had to go and see where it took place. Hikaru also mentioned the infamous Kansui Park Starbucks which is known for its lovely terrace views. And really, it DID have some nice views. I took a little break there and tried to cool down with a cold drink. Afterwards I headed to Aubade Hall, the venue of Hikaru’s dreams. She has mentioned in a couple of blog posts that ever since she was little she always wanted to perform there. And Kalafina did end up performing there twice. Once back in 2015 for their fotw tour and then last year for their 9+ONE tour. It’s about 10 minutes away from Kansui park, pretty close to Toyama Station actually. Here’s the address => Aubade Hall (Toyama City Art and Culture Hall), 9-28 Ushijimacho, Toyama, Toyama Prefecture 930-0858, Japan
Tumblr media
Then I wanted to have some dinner and I thought about going to the Izakaya that Kalafina always go to when they are in Toyama. It’s called Soratobu Usagi which pretty much means Flying Bunny XD. You can even check out their signatures at the bar. It’s quite cool. BUT I decided against it since they only have seafood and I don’t really eat seafood. So I slowly headed back to the station and ordered some gyoza (because I always crave gyoza XD) at a random restaurant. I finally got to relax after walking around in the heat (I didn’t really walk that much but it felt like I had run a marathon due to the humidity). While watching the sunset I ate my yummy giant gyoza and then I took the train back to Tokyo.
❗ Some tips ❗
Always bring your charging battery AND a USB cable
Conbinis and 100 yen stores have everything in case you are ever in need of a random product
Always reserve your shinkansen seat tickets in advance. It’s best to reserve them at least a day ahead if you are planning to travel during communiting hours or during the weekend.
Prepare an itinerary so you don’t waste your time going back and forth between locations. I started with the lower part of Toyama and visited all the places in that area. Then my plan was to head north where another bunch of places were located. Do your research before you travel and life will become so much easier. You can lose track of all the places you wanna visit if you don’t have an itinerary and then you might end up having regrets because you didn’t get to see everything you wanted to see. I mean, you don’t have to strictly stick to your plan but just see it as a sort of guideline.
When you are taking the shinkansen splurge on an ekiben. Yes, I know they are totally overpriced but really, they are pertty delicious most of the time and it’s just part of the shinkansen experience.
Aug 5 (Sun) ~ Lazy Shopping Day
I didn’t actually do much on that day. After all I wanted it to be a relaxing holiday and not just one exhausting trip after the other. Plus, the heat really took a toll on me so I felt like I needed some downtime. So yeah, I just did some shopping (mostly window shopping) and eating. I walked around Tokyo Station and happened across an IENA store. Guess what I found there? Yup, Hikaru’s blouse, right in front of me. In my previous post I mentioned that I originally wasn’t planning to buy it since it was just way too expensive. But after climbing Mount Fuji and after celebrating my 30th birthday I just felt like I deserved a treat. I realise I have said the same thing about my nail salon appointment but oh well, you only live once. So yup, that’s the story of how I ended up buying the blouse even though I was initially not intending to.
This was me during the entire trip.👇
Tumblr media
The rest of the day was spent in all kinds of shopping malls in Shibuya/Shinjuku. I am actually quite proud that I didn’t buy anything else. But on this trip I really wanted to focus on Kalafina so I didn’t feel the need to spend money on random clothes or accessories. But I always enjoy just looking at stuff. We don’t have any of these malls here in Vienna (at least not in those huge dimensions) so it’s a cool experience to check everything out. To wrap up the day, I had some yummy dinner and then I headed back to the hotel to pack for my upcoming trip to Fukuoka.

Angst to fluff then back to angst. Enjoy my lovlies, hope everyone has a wonderful week and I’ll be trying to catch up on matchups and stuff over the weekend since I’ve had mock exams all this week and next week but after next week we’ll be back in business ;)
[PART 2]
By the darkness of night the waves appeared black crashing against the unstable fishing boat that was unluckily miles away from view of any shore, small hands were clutching at the metal railing of the rickety metal boat, a boat that had earlier been described as a death trap- the statement seeming to be coming true as the boat was rocked violently by the unforgiving ocean.
The events of earlier that day played in the young girl’s mind, it was sunny and bright, but a few white clouds floating in the perfectly blue skies. “Come on, little fish! It’s prime fishing conditions…sort of, the ocean is calm, we might even see some dolphins…” A much older man tried convincing his little girl to take to the seas with him for the first time but much to his displeasure, the girl refused, “But dad! I’m scared, I don’t know how to swim, what if there’s a storm or something and I die?!” The little girl shouted waving her hands about frantically, her little eight year old mind running at a mile a minute. The older man, her father, leaned down to her level and placed his big hands on her small shoulders “There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of, in life there’s always going to be things that scare you but if you never pursue them your fear will only grow and we don’t want that now do we, little fish?” (E/c) eyes stared down at the floor and the little girl, (Y/n) was her name, shook her head before looking back into the same colured eyes of her father, a pout present on her face, “Fine, I’ll go on board your death trap.”  At this her father had smiled, neither him nor his daughter knew what the night would have in store.
“Dad!” Her voice was small and almost lost to the waves which she peered into urgently, her father had been sent overboard trying to stabilize the boat only minutes ago. The girl was scared, terror pounding through her blood as she recalled one of the many things both her and her father held in common, they both couldn’t swim.
Her mouth released a loud gasp when a shadow loomed over her, a wave, the biggest wave she had ever seen, quickly approached the girl as if it was a monster that planned to swallow her whole, and to an extent it was just that. (Y/n) screamed for help, hoping maybe something would hear her that maybe she could escape the watery grave that was sure to await her in a matter of seconds, but, the day’s theme seemed to be anything but luck.
The monstrous wave crashed over the boat, tipping it over and plunging the girl into the dark and cold ocean, acting on instinct she screamed for help, an action that caused water to enter into her lungs causing panic to mix with her terror and her actions to become more rushed. Her arms and legs thrashed violently trying to break the surface as she could no longer breath, although under water, her body kept attempting to intake air making her lungs fill up with the salty waters of the sea, her tears joining the ocean in it’s endeavor to send the eight year old to a cold eternal sleep. After fifteen seconds that felt like fifteen hours had passed her movement began to cease and ever so slowly she began to sink, the pain had turned to numbness and the little girl felt tired, a sleep would be nice was all she could think. Once her now dull (E/c) eyes started to drop she felt arms wrap around her waist, probably some sort of angel there to take her away to somewhere pretty, the thought soothed the child and so she let go, she let her eyes close as if simply falling asleep, and then, her world went dark.
Unknown to her the arms holding her were not that of an angel, no, the short arms belonged to a young ocean dweller, a merman if you would, a little bit older than the girl he was holding, around nine years of age. His mother had told him to ignore the sounds coming from the surface, that they would soon go away when the ocean was satisfied and he tried, he did, but there was something about the girl who was thrashing violently that he couldn’t ignore. His shark tail pushing through the water faster than it ever had before in hopes of getting the girl to the shore of the nearest island. It had only taken him a minute to get to the island and he wasted no time in pulling the girl out of the ocean, pulling himself with her until they were a safe distance from the rough waters, the boy pulled a strangely shaped bottle filled with strangely coloured liquid out of the brown cloth satchel he wore over his shoulder and tilted the human girl onto her side, removing the cork he held it to her lips and tipped the contents in slowly.
Sounds of coughing filled the empty island when (Y/n)’s eyes opened suddenly and all the water she had swallowed exited her lungs the colour of the strange liquid mixing with it in the brown rain matted sand, she took a huge breath before looking over her shoulder and coming face to face with the maroon haired boy who had saved her life.
“Am I dead?” Her usually soft voice was gravelly and filled with uncertainty, the boy only shook his head “No, you were drowning but I got you out and gave you a potion so the water would leave your lungs, you almost died but you’re okay.” Her eyes filled with tears “…my dad? Did you see him?” The boy’s face fell as a familiar feeling settled in his chest, “I’m sorry, you were the only person there.” A loud squeaky sob escaped her throat as tears fell down her face “he…he couldn’t swim…” Again the boy felt his heart break inside of his chest, he knew what is was like to lose a father, cautiously he pulled himself into a sitting position beside the girl and wrapped his arms around her shaking frame. (Y/n) excepted his affection, leaning into it.
“Who are you? What are you?” She asked in a quiet voice her eyes focused on his grey tail. “My name is Rin and I’m a merman, my family are decent from sharks which is why my tail looks like a shark, who are you?” (Y/n)’s eyes were wide with shock, she wasn’t sure what she expected, he did have a tail after all, not to mention shark like teeth.
“My name is (Y/n), I’m a human… I didn’t know mer-people really existed, but, thank you for helping me.” Rin gave her a smile, showing his shark teeth while pulling his arms away from (Y/n), said girl shivered desperately in the cold air.
“A-are you okay? I’m sorry I’ve never saved anybody before, the sirens usually make sure all the sailors are with them, you’re really lucky they didn’t want you, otherwise this conversation wouldn’t be happening.” (Y/n) nodded slightly “I’m just cold but I’ll be okay, did…did the sirens- did they take my dad?” Her voice shook toward the end, Rin’s face set in a frown and kicked himself, regretting bringing up the sirens in the first place, “I don’t know but the only thing around was your ship and you, I heard singing before you appeared, so it could be, I- I’m really sorry…I lost my dad too.” (Y/n) stayed silent until she had another question “What do I do now? I can’t swim” Rin offered her a small smile “I can bring you home but we’ll have to wait until morning if the sirens are still around, they’d probably try to recruit you.” (Y/n) tilted her head “What would happen to me then?”
Rin looked out into the ocean “Depends on you really, they find young girls, teens usually, they go for the sad ones, the type who cry along the shore at night, they tell them they can be anything they have ever wanted to be, that they can get revenge on the world that was against them, if they do they either become sirens, dangerous spirits that lure sailors to their deaths, spellsingers which lure lost and lonely sailors to islands with either good or bad intentions, I don’t really know what it is they do, my mom says she’ll tell me when I’m older. The last thing they could become is a shipsaver, these are nice sirens, they help sailors navigate through rocky waters. There are weatherworkers too but they’re super rare.”
(Y/n) nodded, intrigued with what Rin was telling her, in what seemed like minutes of the two children telling of their different cultures the sun began to rise and true to his word, Rin brought (Y/n) home, agreeing to meet her on the shore that night, the pair had built a strong friendship in the hours they had known each other, (Y/n)’s mother would surely call her insane, blame Rin on the water in her lungs and trauma of losing her father, and even so, if Rin was a hallucination, he was one she welcomed.
Rain poured heavily on the umbrella’s surface as the girl stood holding her mothers hand underneath the black material that was designed to keep her dry, it was too bad that the umbrella couldn’t protect her face from the tears she was shedding. It was the day of her father’s funeral and the weather surely matched the feeling everybody present was conveying, (Y/n)’s father was a respectable man, loved among the community and known as a devoted family man, a man who deserved more than just an empty coffin being buried in his name. The events of the past days had (Y/n)’s mother finding her only daughter washed up and passed out on the shore with her husband and his boat, nowhere to be seen. (Y/n) was held in hospital for two days due to hypothermia, police sat at her bedside and questioned her for the majority of her stay, the girl had told them everything, about Rin saving her and the sudden storm that required him to do so. Upon mention of the young merman a police officer had patted her shoulder and told her worried mother that the boy was merely a coping mechanism for the little girl who had witnessed her father drown.
As slowly as it felt, time began to pass, night after night (Y/n) would visit the beach and simply sit in a shaded cove that was out of the view of passers by, a cove that required taking your shoes off and walking through the ankle deep current to enter, the interior was beautiful, stalactites hung from the ceiling and sparkled in the moonlight that was reflected by the ocean, sand covered the ground, posing a safe spot to sit away from the cold waves, (Y/n) loved it there, but, what she loved more about it was the boy who met with her there each night.
It has been three years now since the accident had happened, (Y/n) and Rin visited each other every night and the night of (Y/n)’s eleventh birthday was no different, (Y/n) sat in the sandy cove awaiting the young Matsuoka to arrive and after about ten minutes had passed, his smiley face popped up from out of the water “Happy birthday, (N/n)! Sorry I’m late, I have something for you!”
A smile mirroring the boy’s appeared on her face as she helped the half shark onto the sandy shore, “A present? What is it?” She asked excitedly trying to peer into the brown satchel she had come accustomed to him wearing for the past three years, “Close your eyes!” Rin had insisted and waited for his best human friend to follow his orders before pulling the gift he had gotten for her out of his tattered satchel. It was simplistic but still very beautiful, a silver chain necklace with a small white pearl attached delicately in the middle, though it was beautiful, the sentiment behind the gift was far more breath taking. “You can open your eyes now” He had told her softly smiling when the girl let out an audible gasp at the sight of the necklace, she took it gently into her hand examining the pearl “Rin.. It’s amazing where did you get it?”
“The pearl is a mermaid tear, my dad’s actually, when you’re a mermaid or a merman even sometimes a siren, if you fall in love with a human you can take a potion to give you legs and live with them on the surface or they can take one to become a mermaid and live under the sea but if a mermaid takes it each step on land they take until they find their love is more painful than the last and their tears turn to pearls. My mom was a human, her and my dad fell in love but she had to leave one day, so my dad took the potion and went to the surface to find her, the mer-people told him that if he found her, and if she agreed, he could have his tail back and my mom could live with him under the sea, long story short he found her and she became a mermaid. Anyway, my dad kept the tears and gave one to me and one to my little sister, he told us to think of his story and that when the time comes we’d know what to do with it and now I do…” Rin took the necklace from the girls hands and unclasped it, wrapping it around her neck and securing it, “I got it enchanted by my friend Makoto’s mom, she’s a sea witch, now whenever you’re wearing it you won’t be effected by the voice of any siren.” (Y/n) smiled so brightly looking to her little friend, “Thank you, Rin.”
“It’s so pretty, I promise I’ll never take it off!”
And she didn’t. More years went on and the bond the two shared stayed strong, even grew stronger, until the winters night Rin arrived at the cove that became their exclusive spot to find (Y/n) staring wistfully out at the dark ocean, tears coating her face. It definitely was not his favorite look on the now sixteen year old girl. “Why the sad face?” He was answered with a throaty sob from the girl as she curled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her knees. His eyes could only widen at her response, the merman could count the amount of times he’s seen her truly break down on one hand, she didn’t let tears ever pass the rims of her beautiful (e/c) eyes often.
Rin pulled himself up beside her and grabbed her hand, careful not to touch her clothes since his body was wet from his natural habitat , “What’s wrong?” He asked as softly as he could manage. (Y/n) tried to compose herself but the tears kept falling and her breath kept hitching, her mother had met a man, what her daughter would describe as an absolute sleaze, but despite her daughters unrest the woman started seeing this abomination of a man, Jeff, the two had only been seeing each other for a month and (Y/n)’s mother had already decided she wanted to move everything to be with him and ‘be a real family’, frankly it made (Y/n) sick, not to get her wrong, it had been eight years since her father died and she wanted so much for her mother to be happy, just not with this stranger, a stranger that treated the teen horribly all while keeping a sweet face up for the woman he was trying so desperately to tie down, a stranger who had not only convinced (Y/n)’s mother to move in with him, but to bring (Y/n) with her, he wanted to drag her away from her coastal home town, take her away from every single friendship and memory she’d ever built, he was going to take her to his inland home, an inland home that was hours away from the ocean, an inland home where she wouldn’t be able to see Rin. Somewhere she knew she couldn’t be happy, she’d be giving up the only things that kept her smiling, for what? The sake of a bigger bedroom? It wasn’t anything anywhere near what she wanted. She didn’t know how her dear friend would react to the news, if it was anyway near as bad as she had things wouldn’t be ending very well.
She couldn’t be blamed for her reaction, she had arrived home from school to find her bedroom all packed up in big brown boxes, her mother and Jeff standing there amidst the boxes with bright smiles on their faces and the loud shouts of ‘surprise!’ came from their lips, when (Y/n) questioned them as to why her room was all packed up her mother had said “We’re moving!” her statement was followed up by Jeff adding “Tomorrow.” When (Y/n) screeched in question her mother had only said “We didn’t want you to have doubts” Yeah, that was it. The sixteen year old had stormed out of her house without a world, slamming the front door with as much fury as she could, her feet carrying her straight to the only place she felt at ease anymore, straight to the cove, straight to Rin.
All she could do was look at the male she had grown so attached to over the years and let her cracked voice try and explain “My- my mom just- she told me we were moving, tomorrow… she didn’t even give me a warning I just got home and my entire room was packed up and the house it’s not- it’s not even-” Her own sob cut off her rambling and Rin no longer cared for her clothes as he wrapped his arms around her and let her cry. Surely he’d still be able to see her, it might be a little hard to find the coast she’s at and sure no cove is gonna be the same as the one they’ve been sharing with each other for the past eight years, but they could make it work.
“The house isn’t what?” His voice held it’s soft tone while his ring clad fingers stroked her (h/c) hair, an action he learned could calm her down greatly, her crying had ceased slightly and she met his maroon eyes only for second before biting her lip and looking down at his scaly lap which she had ended up sitting on while she cried her broken little heart out, her arms were still wound around his neck and in any other situation the pair would have blushed, but there was a time and place for their sexual tension and unspoken feelings and it wasn’t then and there. (Y/n) found her voice and slowly spit out the words that felt like venom on her tongue, “The house isn’t coastal, it’s in some remote area inland that’s at least an hours drive from the nearest beach.” Rin’s eyes widened, (Y/n)’s tears began to fall again, “…That means…” (Y/n) only nodded her head weakly, to her surprise Rin pulled her closer and his own tears began to fall onto her shoulder as they held on to each other, “I’m sorry” she choked out.
Neither of them wanted to move, both realizing that they wouldn’t be able to see each other for who knows how long, they could barely get through a weekend without seeing each other and now it seemed like they’d have to go on without their nightly chats indefinitely, Rin didn’t know if he could, (Y/n) on the other hand knew she couldn’t, her weak “I don’t want to go” proved that. So they simply stayed together moving their positioning every so often so Rin’s tail could be in contact with the water, (Y/n) had her head laid on his shoulder as one of her hands held his and the other played with the necklace around her neck, Rin’s free hand messing around with the silver bracelet with a small shark charm dangling from it (Y/n) had gotten him last February for his sixteenth birthday, when she had gifted it to him she had said “it doesn’t have any special siren repellent but I thought you might like it.” It was one of his favorite things, as the necklace was to her. It seemed now that they’d serve as memories of something wonderful that ended far too soon. The pair barely noticed the sun peaking up through the horizon, fingers not daring to release from around the others, (Y/n) heard her name being called by two voices in the distance, her mother and Jeff no doubt, a final tear fell from (Y/n)’s eye and she turned her head to look into the eyes of Rin, it was now or never, leaning in she kissed him softly, far too quickly, she pulled away to see his eyes closed and a tear matching her own rolling down his cheek.
“Goodbye, Rin.”
With that (Y/n) gently released Rin’s hand and trudged regretfully through the cold water of the ocean, not bothering to take her shoes off as she exited the cove leaving Rin alone with his tears.
“Goodbye, (Y/n).”
Yeah, eight years definitely wasn’t long enough, nothing ever would be, now he wasn’t sure if it ever could be as he watched her footprints in the sand blowing away as fast as she did.

Broomcloseted Witch Tips ☾
I know, it sucks.
Your parents are probably super duper strict, or you know they would simply never accept the fact that you’re a witch. It’s hard- you’ve got to sneak around the crystals in your room, play off the 300 candles as an “aesthetic”, and hide your Book of Shadows under a heap of clothes or on your window.
From a fellow broomcloseted witch to another, here are some of the tips and tricks I’ve learnt over the past few months of hiding everything witchy I’ve acquired.
Please keep in mind, though, you know your parents better than I ever will. So as much as these tips and tricks helped me, they may not help you. I’m just trying to help in any way I possibly can.
Dedicate a drawer to Witchcraft. No, not an altar, a drawer. You can put your BOS in it, your crystals in it, candles, herbs, and everything else you (might) have. If you’re worried about your parents finding this drawer, you can always put things on top of, for example, your pile of witchy books. In my drawer at home, I have huge makeup palettes on top of everything to hide it from plain sight.
Try to find an understanding friend who supports you. If your parents are strict about where you’re going and you want to play it off as something other than a trip to the local yogi/witchy/dollar store, whether it’s for jars or otherwise, make sure to go with a friend. Any friend that you trust; it makes it easier to go with someone and say, for instance, that you’re going to the mall instead.
Get a cutting board. Or a wooden slice. Or a picture to hang. Anything you can turn around with a clear other side. I know, sounds weird, but this is my favourite trick. If you get a circular, wooden cutting board, you can have one side be an altar, with the compass and symbols on it, and the other side can simply be... blank; decoration. Maybe put some jewlery on it. Then, when you need an altar, it’s there!
Hide in plain sight. If your parents are like mine, they’ll only get nosy and suspicious if they think you’re hiding something huge, and acting, well... suspicious. That is why it’s crucial to talk about your parents, even if you have to make things up. You can tell them; “Hey, look, I read an article today about how lavendar is good for sleep; we should buy some!” or, “Man, my friend has some insence and it smelt amazing! I’m thinking of borrowing some!” This way it totally looks like you’re not a witch, as much as them finding it on thier own.
Keep your room tidy. If your room isn’t clean, it might just bite you in the ass; because if one of your parents decides to clean up your room for you, (like my mom did, yesterday...) they either A) Might throw out things that you need (my mom, yesterday, threw out my tarot cards since she didn’t know what they were *insert facepalm*), or B) Might be curious enough to figure out what some things are, like a BOS or tarot cards. Just play it safe. Never give them a reason to snoop.
Close the blinds and Take Advantage. Is it a full moon? Need to recharge your crystals? Lay them out on your windowsil and MAKE SURE THE BLINDS ARE CLOSED... AND THE DRAPES. Not to mention, if there’s a full moon out, moon water isn’t the only thing you can charge. You can lay out some perfume bottles in the windowsil to charge them with energy; it’ll be a bit less effective than throwing moonwater on yourself, but it’ll come across as less bizzare to those who don’t know.
School is your friend. You can always keep things in your locker or with someone you trust, provided that you don’t hate, or if you have, a locker partner. Check if there are any yogi/witchy shops that have what you need near school. If you have to, just tell your parents you’re running late; but don’t skip class.
Remeber that not everything you do has to be big. You’re closeted, after all. The sole fact that you’re worshiping the god, goddess and divine being at all is amazing and fulfilling, don’t think that everything, and every ritual, you do has to be a huge ceremony with 500 candles and every herb ever grown on earth. Meditating with a lavender-scented candle is enough!
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Ease into it. If you do all these things at once, your parents will catch on almost immediately. Go slow. Breathe. I know this is hard, and you just want to be able to have an amethyst geode on your desk without being patronized, but you can do this. Stay strong. Take your time.
You can do this! I don’t know how much this is going to help anyone, but I wish I knew these tips earlier so that I didn’t have to go through my first few weeks of becoming a Wiccan.
Tumblr media
If anyone has tips to add on, feel free to reblog and add anything you can. I know this community has lots to offer and so many of us have gone through the broomcloset phase of witchy life. I know, I still am.
Good luck lovlies. ☾

{I got held back aor and now it's time for bed. =~=` I was already sleepy this morning and now it's laaate I'm not gonna be worth my salt tomorrow.}
{That being said, I think I'm going to spend much of tomorrow making up alternate verses for Hanekoma. So I'll definitely be around if y'all want to talk. Just can't say for sure when and how long. •v•;;; }
{But hey, it'll be alright. I might even try to make like a promo or something for meadowthorns even though I don't have even the slightest idea about where I would even begin with that. I'm not super awesome at them if the Hanekoma one didn't tip you off. ꉂꉂ ( ˆ▽ˆ ) But it'll be something to toss out there for people to look into if they're interested. I think I should probably post like links or something here, since this is the main. But idk. We'll see tomorrow.}
{For now I think I'll stop rambling and get some sleep. I'll answer everything I have stored away when I get up tomorrow. So goodnight for now, my lovlies! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day!}

You Are Watching: GHOST KING (Ch. 25)
((Hello my lovlies, I am sorry this update took so long but I’ve been working more hours at work, and i had other fics to update.))
Will’s hand hovered in front of the large mahogany door, he wanted to knock but he couldn’t bring himself to do so. He was about to have dinner with his almost-boyfriend’s family. So he was more than a little nervous, if the mansion-like house wasn’t intimidating, then Nico’s father certainly was. Will had never really met him, not in depth anyways, they’ve exchanged short hello’s and ‘how are you’s, but that was it. He had also heard stories about him from Nico himself, Percy, Jason, Annabeth, Hazel, Grover, Apollo, hell, even Reyna was intimidated by him. There was a reason why Hades was called Lord of the Underworld in the Law and Business areas of New York, actually he probably was known throughout most of the fifty states since he sometimes travels for cases and to his store locations.
Will’s hand still hovered but his gaze fell from the door down to his sneakers. What if Nico’s family doesn’t like him? Okay, well Hazel liked him. But the rest could probably change her mind if they don’t like him. What if he chewed too loud? Or made an inappropriate joke? Or! What if he accidentally insults Persephone or Bianca? If he did that it was all over. So yeah, his hand still hovered and his arm was tired but he didn’t move. He wanted to, but he didn’t.
Just when his arm felt like it was going to fall off the door swung open. Will glanced from his original view of his sneakers up to the man he was most scared to meet. “Hello, William.” Hades said, his face was void of any emotion as he side stepped and looked at Will, whom promptly walked in with a sheepish chuckle.
“Hi, Mr. di Angelo. And….uh…you can just call me Will.”
“Very well, Will. You can just call me Mr. di Angelo.”
Will gulped and gave Hades a small smile. The two just stood there looking at one another, well Hades gaze never wavered, Will’s however did, but he would always meet Nico’s dad’s eye. It continued to be that way until Nico himself came from the kitchen and frowned at his dad. “Dad. Stop trying to scare him.” Nico lectured as he walked over to Will and grabbed his hand to drag him over to the kitchen.
“I was just having a bit of fun, son.” Hades teased as he followed his son and his ‘friend’ to the kitchen, he stopped to give Persephone a kiss on the cheek as she walked past carrying a bowl of mashed potatoes to the table. Will stood by Nico awkwardly after he said hi to Hazel and Bianca and looked around, he’s been to Nico’s house before but only in his room and occasionally the living room but that was before they were some-what dating.
“Dinner is ready, Will, will you help set the table?” Persephone asked with a sweet smile towards the blond. Will immediately nodded, “Yes, Ma’am.”
“Oh sweetie, you don’t need to call me Ma’am, call me Persephone.”
Will only nodded as a response since he was concentrating on not dropping the plates he was carrying over to the table. As he set them down he glanced to the right and saw a dining room, he stared at Nico and raised an eyebrow. “Why aren’t we eating in there?”
Nico turned to look at the dining room as well and shrugged. “We’ve never really used it. The dining room is only for important events, like a company dinner or big family thing, but neither of those have happened since my dad hates his coworkers, and he hates our other relatives.” As soon as he finished saying that, as though he was summoned, Hades was behind Nico and gave him a soft slap to the back of the head. Nico gave a small wince but smiled at his dad and took a swing at him but missed.
 “Stop spreading rumors.”
“They’re not rumors they are the truth.”
 “I don’t hate our relatives.”
 “Demeter.”
 “…Touché.”
Will laughed at their antics and Nico flashed him a playful grin as Persephone, Bianca, and Hazel carried in the rest of the food. They then took their seats, but before Nico could sit, Will pulled out his chair for him and gently pushed him in. They exchanged shy smiles as Will sat in between Nico and Bianca.
“Now what is this about hating my mother?” Persephone asked.
Dinner went by better than Will would have expected. The only left to do would take a lot of courage on his part but it felt like he was ready.
 “Hades?”
 “Yes, Will?”
The blond licked his lips as he fiddled with his napkin, Nico gave him a curious side glance and put a hand on his knee. Will nodded to himself before looking up at Hades.
“Sir, I would like to ask your permission to date Nico. I would really like to date him. We already told each other that we…that we like each other. We’ve been on dates but I would like to officially call him my boyfriend. So can I please? Again, it would mean the world to me because your son means the worl-“
 “I’ve heard enough.”
Will stopped his rambling and refused to look at anyone, the table sure looked interesting. He took in a deep breath to try and calm himself down but his heart was still racing, his cheeks and ears were on fire, and the world felt slightly off axis. Nico wasn’t doing much better, his eyes were wide open, and his heart felt like a hummingbird’s. It didn’t help that Persephone and his sisters were cackling. Will slowly lifted his gaze and met Hades, who he realized was looking at him and smirking. He would deny the fact that he had squeaked as Hades leaned over the table.
 “Okay.”
 “Um, what?”
 “I said okay.”
 “It’s about time.” Hazel sing-songed.
“Honestly.” Persephone agreed as Bianca nodded.
Nico buried his face in his hands and mumbled incoherently while Will glanced at him still blushing fiercely. After a couple minutes, they had all calmed down and happily talked about anything and everything, but the happy conversations ended when Persephone asked about Nico’s show.
Hades growled lowly and crossed his arms. “They are trying to force him into covering that party haunting that happened. They say that a lot of viewers are asking for Ghost King to cover the event, and many are mad that he refuses to do it. The producers are trying to say that he is legally binded to do so.”
“But he’s, not right?” Bianca asked as she stared at her baby brother who looked equally as upset as their father, maybe even more. Will looked absolutely livid as he rubbed soft circles on Nico’s back to help calm him down, it seemed to help. Not by much, but it did help. Bianca could tell by the way Nico’s shoulders sagged just a tad, and how his eyebrows weren’t as furrowed, he also started to lean closer to Will. Hazel had one hand on her brother’s shoulder and the other was holding his hand, that also helped to calm him down while Persephone was trying to do the same for her husband.
“No. He’s not. And they would know that if they read through the whole contract I drew up with their lawyers. They are not only incompetent but it would seem as though they are also illiterate.”
“….Is there any news on the ghost?” Hazel questioned as she slowly rubbed her brothers arm.
“I…I’ve been doing research since the last time I went over to Reyna’s,” Nico started, “I had told all of you that I thought it was a poltergeist that was attached to a person. Well…Now I’m not so sure.”
“Why?” Hades was confused as to why this hadn’t come up sooner.
Nico licked his lips and sat up straighter, he scratched the back of his neck and sighed. “Nico?” Will mumbled in a soft voice as he observed his boyfriend.
“I told you about the poltergeist theory….I haven’t told you guys about…about the demon theory.”

Soulmates
@inukag-week Day Seven: Soulmates
OMFG It’s late (a whole day AACKK) but I finally finished it! And holy CRAP am I glad this is done! This prompt is the longest one out off any of the previous ones I wrote for Inukag Week and not gonna like I am VERY proud and VERY satisfied with how it turned out!
You know that soulmate au that was occasionally floats around your dash that talks about you not being able to see the color that is your soulmate’s eyes until you meet them? Well...that inspired this. And i’ll just leave it at that. XD
So, just a few words: InuKag week is over (I know it ended yesterday but whatever lmao) and it has been an AMAZING week. This has been the first time that I’ve actually participated and wrote something for EVERY prompt and I’m so damn proud of myself for that. And all of you! Omg so much good content, so many things to read, fanart to admire and gush about and I followed SO MANY new and talented people! So I just wanna say thank you for an amazing week and give yourselves a round of applause and a pat on the back! You done good, friends.
That being said, what better way to end it than with a long (TEN PAGES JESUS CHRIST HEATHER), fluffy (well at the end at least haha) oneshot that gives yoU THE FEELS AND WARM FUZZIES.
Thanks for the amazing and inukag-filled week, lovlies! Can’t wait to do it again!
Note: When Inuyasha says his dog’s nickname, Sads, it’s pronounced “Say-dz.”
Another note: I don’t know the first thing about floral design or even which flowers are native to Japan, but for the sake of this fic, let’s pretend every flower mentioned is magically available year round.
Wtf stop it with the notes: The cute little relationship between Yash and his dog came out of nowhere. Like I don’t even know why I concentrated on it so much but it just happened?
GET TO THE BLOODY STORY ALREADY WOMAN: I have an obsession with short haired Inuyasha and I’m not sorry.
I’ll kill you: SORRY FOR THE LONG ASS NOTE OKAY ON TO THE STORY!
“Kagome.”
From across the room of The Bellflower, a young woman wearing a light green apron with dark hair and startling clear blue eyes paused in her current activity to look up and gaze curiously over at the shop owner. “Yes, Kaede?” she asked with a smile, grabbing the rag she kept in her back pocket to wipe the dirt off her hands as she stepped around the table.
The elderly shop owner and her boss smiled kindly and gestured to the attractive woman standing beside her, who smiled in greeting and gave a polite nod. “Could you please fetch Izayoi’s order? It’s in the back in cooler number two labeled ‘Takahashi.’”
Kagome’s smile broadened and she nodded. “Of course! I’ll be right back with your order, ma’am.” Tucking the rag back into her pocket, she crossed the room, weaving around display tables holding beautiful, colorful arrangements that Kagome had made herself and pushed open the door marked Employees Only that led into the backroom where most of the designing took place and orders were kept.
The smell of fresh soil was heavy in the air as she trekked across the cement floor toward the storage coolers at the back of the room, but paused at the second design table and made a face at the half-finished arrangement that she couldn’t seem to get right. Since Kaede was out in shop, she’d been spending most of her shift in the backroom, playing with different colors, seeing what went together best, but no matter what she did, nothing seemed to work. She’d finally given up and stormed out into the shop in a fit of frustration, hoping that maybe a change of scenery would give her some fresh inspiration.
That had been half an hour ago, and Kagome had been in the middle of making a round to each display table and checking for dead or wilted flowers when Kaede had asked her to retrieve an order from the back, so here she was.
Making a face at the colorful, unfinished floral arrangement that sat in a decorative vase, Kagome continued her way to the back, idly wondering if that woman was a regular customer since Kaede had called her by name. It was likely; she had only just started working here a week prior so she had yet to learn all of their regulars’ names. Kagome was largely looking forward it to, though. She absolutely loved working here and making beautiful, colorful floral arrangements for people to awe at and admire. Kaede was the perfect boss, too. Sweet, kind and just the most likable old lady Kagome had ever met, the young woman was extremely lucky to have such a patient and warm woman as her mentor.
Approaching the floral coolers that reminded her of the grocery store coolers which held cold drinks, Kagome swung open the glass door to the second one and scanned the changeable labels lining the shelves. “Lessee, Takahashi…Taka…Taka…” Kagome smiled when she spotted the correct name. “Ah ha, there you…are…oh.”
Her smile faded somewhat when she got a good look at Izayoi Takahashi’s order, however it did not disappear completely and it took on an edge of wistful sadness. Slowly, carefully, Kagome pulled out the desired arrangement and wandered back over to the design table to set it down and double check everything was as it should be. Her fingers tenderly brushed the soft petals as her mind automatically supplied the names of the flowers which made up the design; chrysanthemums, irises, hibiscus, some dahlia, and of course the ever common lily. Little tufts of baby’s breath poked out from beneath the vibrant petals, with white freesia intermittently dotting the bouquet as well, and the whole ensemble, which was all in the same color, reminded Kagome of spring, sunshine, and warmth.
Bending down to take in the pleasant perfume the flowers emitted, another smile tugged at her lips and she released the breath in a sigh, her blue eyes sad. Kagome loved working at the flower shop, she truly did. However…sometimes it was difficult, being reminded pretty much everyday that she would always be alone, that there wasn’t any hope for her in finding her Soulmate. At first, back when she’d been young and foolish, Kagome had been in denial, adamantly believing that her color-blindness for that particular shade was just a one-in-a-million thing, that she had just happened to be that one unlucky person diagnosed with the rare Tritanopia.
But no matter how much she wanted it to be true, no matter how much she prayed, the fact was Kagome had never had a problem with seeing the color blue. After all, she knew what color her eyes were because she looked in a mirror everyday, and that only proved to further solidify her fate. It was only that one, damnedable shade, the one color Kagome had never once been able to detect in her twenty-five years of life. And it wasn’t until she turned eighteen that she had finally given in and accepted her fate, that she didn’t have some kind of disability that prevented her enjoying all the colors on the spectrum. She had accepted the fact that it was the only color she couldn’t see, and it would always remain so until the day she died.
Because, after all, who had ever heard of somebody having yellow eyes?
Yellow, like the daffodils and sunflowers that Kagome loved to arrange. Yellow like the buttercups that dotted her backyard. Yellow like the butterflies that liked to flit from flower to flower, seeking sweet nectar.
And yellow like the bright, brilliant sun, in which Kagome had never been able to truly enjoy.
 Yellow eyes?
Kagome smiled ruefully. “Almost just as rare as someone having blue eyes,” she murmured to herself and decided she’d dawdled enough and Kaede was probably wondering what was taking so long. Shaking her head, Kagome stared at what should have been a vibrant array of yellow blossoms before her, but instead only saw various shades of grays for a moment longer then carefully gathered the bouquet in her hands and made her way back out onto the shop floor, plastering a smile back on her face.
“Sorry it took so long,” she apologized as she approached the beautiful woman and her boss. “I wanted to wash my hands of soil so I wouldn’t smudge the order and the sink was being faulty again.”
Kaede’s glanced at the beautiful bouquet cradled in her hands and her eyes softened in understanding. She was the only other one, besides her family, who knew of her predicament but not because Kagome told her. She’d managed to figure it out on her own in the brief time the young woman had been working here. “Tis not a problem, dear. Izayoi and I were just catching up.” She turned to the aforementioned woman and gestured to her employee. “Izayoi, this is Kagome. She just started working for me about a week ago and I must say she’s been very valuable and helpful to me since then.” She smiled genuinely at the young woman and Kagome blushed as she handed over the woman’s order.
“It’s wonderful to meet you, Kagome,” Izayoi said sincerely, cradling her flowers in her arms. “Kaede is a dear friend of mine and…oh,” she gasped softly in surprise, her eyes widening slightly and Kagome blinked, puzzled at the sudden change. An awed smile lifted the corners of her lips slightly and strangely she looked like she was about a minute away from crying. “You have…blue eyes,” she breathed in amazement and Kagome wondered at the hopeful glint in her gaze.
The younger woman’s flush deepened and she ducked her head briefly before realizing it was rude and lifted her face back up with an embarrassed smile. “Ah, y-yes,” she stammered then cleared her throat and explained, “My father was American. I’ve actually just moved back to Japan about a month ago to be closer to my mother after living over there for ten years. I…got the eye color from him.” She shrugged in a “what can ya do” manner and offered a more genuine smile.
Izayoi nodded, tilting her head to the side as she studied the beautiful young woman before her. I wonder… “Kagome,” she began a little haltingly, not really wanting to come off as prying or intrusive, but she couldn’t let this go. It was too good to be true, and she had to know. “May I…ask you a somewhat random question?”
Kagome’s clear blue eyes flared slightly in surprise, but she nodded regardless, curious despite herself while Kaede stood back, a knowing glint in her wide brown eyes and a secret smile curling her lips.
Izayoi smiled again. “Tell me…what’s your favorite color?”
When the young woman seemed to deflate before her and those beautiful blue eyes of hers grew sad, Izayoi instantly felt bad and was about to apologize, but the wistful smile curling Kagome’s lips stalled her and she waited, watching as she lifted a hand and tenderly brushed her fingertips against the petals of one of the lilies in the bouquet she held.
“It’s yellow,” she answered quietly after a pregnant pause and missed the way Izayoi’s eyes positively lit up and the smile on her face was radiant.
“What a coincidence,” she said softly and dropped her gaze to the magnificent yellow flowers in her arms. “It’s mine, too.”
 -X-
By the time Izayoi got home she was positively bustling with excitement and she couldn’t seem to wipe the brilliant smile off her face. With the beautiful flowers still in her arms, she entered her house and beelined for the kitchen, hoping her son hadn’t left yet. She wouldn’t spoil the good news, of course, but she needed to make sure he hadn’t lost all hope just yet.
She entered the kitchen and threw her husband a smile. “Darling,” she greeted and tilted her face to receive his kiss when he ambled over to her. “Is Inuyasha still here? I need to talk to him.” With a giddy laugh, Izayoi set the flowers on the kitchen island and set about making sure they were absolutely perfect.
Tai arched a brow at his wife’s sunny disposition and he smiled in amusement. “Yes, he’s still in the garage,” he answered, glad that his Izayoi seemed to be in such a happy mood, but curious all the same. “What’s got you so cheerful, my love? You’re practically levitating.” He laughed.
Spinning around, unable to bear the secret by herself anymore, Izayoi walked over to her husband and put her hands on his chest, tipping her face up and smiling form ear to ear. “I met Kaede’s new employee today,” she began, her eyes bright, glistening.
Tai blinked. “Indeed?” he murmured, wondering what that had to do with anything.
His wife giggled, bit her lip, then said reverently as she gazed into her beloved’s glorious amber eyes, “She has blue eyes, darling.”
Tai was unresponsive for a moment, his brain digesting that new bit of information, and then all at once his eyes widened, his mouth dropped, and he looked just bout as excited as she was. “She—?” he said and grinned widely as his wife vigorously nodded, another joyful laugh bubbling up to escape past her lips. Releasing a happy laugh, Tai gathered his small wife in his arms and spun her around, the mutual joy for their son ringing loud and clear throughout the house.
After several celebratory kisses and hugs, the dog demon finally released his wife so she could track down their son and assure that his hope hadn’t waned enough to completely give up. Izayoi touched her husband’s cheek, smiled lovingly at him, then brushed past him toward the little niche in their kitchen that led to the garage in which their youngest son was no doubt covered head to toe in grease and fiddling under the hood of her car that had been giving her problems as of late. She was glad he was so mechanically inclined; it saved them so much money since they didn’t have take their vehicles to a professional shop.
She went down the three steps and opened the door to the two-car garage; the radio was playing with the volume down low and the scents of oil, metal, and freshly cut grass assaulted her senses. Someone just mowed the lawn, was the idle thought that crossed her mind just as a very large and very friendly Husky came barreling at her from around her car and as was customary, refused to her let her pass until she got her mandatory lovins.
Laughing, Izayoi knelt down and gave the dog her obligatory scratches and pets. “Hello, Sadie,” she cooed and the Husky gave her kisses in return. “Such a good girl.” With a final kiss to her nose, Izayoi stood back up and, satisfied, Sadie trotted away to return to her sprawled out position not far from where her master was working.
However, instead of poking around under the hood where she’d thought he’d be, Inuyasha was tinkering around beneath the car and all she could see was his badly stained and ripped jean clad bottom half sticking out near the rear tires. Smiling in amusement, Izayoi folded her arms and waited, having no doubt that her son knew she was there either by Sadie’s enthusiastic greeting or her scent.
And soon enough, after about another minute, she heard a grunt, a clanking sound, and then he was scooting out from under the vehicle and pushing to his feet, wiping his hands off on a nearly black rag and she wondered if it was even doing any good. And, as she’d suspected, his simple white tee shirt was covered in grease and other unidentifiable dark stains and his face had several smudges as well. A backward baseball cap covered his ears and his short shaggy silver hair was in dire need of washing.
“Is my son under all that grease somewhere, or shall I fetch the hose?” she teased.
Inuyasha grinned and spread his arms. “Gimme a hug, Mom.” He started moving forward and laughing, his mother darted away.
“Ack! Don’t you dare, young man!” She pointed a finger at him with a grin of her own and chuckling, Inuyasha relented, backing away with his palms up in surrender.
Shaking her head, Izayoi cautiously moved closer, eyeing her son warily – he raised his brows innocently but she didn’t trust that for a minute – and when he didn’t try that stunt again, she propped her hip against the car and inquired, “So, diagnosis?”
Taking his hat off to run a dirty hand through his already dirty hair, Inuyasha blew out his cheeks and frowned down at the vehicle in question. “I think it’s the alternator and it needs a new serpentine belt, too. It’s getting pretty ragged and it’s a little lose, which is why it’s making that squealing sound when you start it up sometimes.  I was just finishing up the oil change when you came in.”
Izayoi nodded, trusting her son’s judgment. “Is it an easy fix?”
He shrugged and shoved his cap back on, crossing his arms. “Yeah, it’s not so bad. I have an extra belt and I’ll start looking for a reasonably priced alternator here shortly. In the meantime though, use Dad’s truck if you wanna go anywhere. I don’t feel comfortable with you driving it around with a lose belt and bad alternator.”
Izayoi wrinkled her nose. “You know I don’t like driving that beast,” she said and the look she shot the massive F-250 was less than enthusiastic.
“Yeah, I know, but I’d rather your safety than comfort, Mom,” Inuyasha said and her expression softened. “Just have Dad drive you, or if I’m available I’ll be your personal chauffeur. Deal?” He offered a lopsided grin and goodness, how could she possibly say no to that?
“Oh, alright,” she conceded and her son’s relief was visible.
“Thanks, Mom,” he said and when he leaned forward she didn’t move away, smiling when he kissed her cheek. “I’ll get it done as soon as I can, promise.”
“I know, dear,” she replied and watched as he vanished behind the hood again, evidently not quite finished with poking around. Izayoi bit her lip, hesitated, and then called, “Inuyasha?”
“Yeah?” He didn’t bother looking up but after several seconds of silence, Inuyasha peered around the hood and frowned. “Mom?”
“Well…I was just doing some thinking today…” his mother began and Inuyasha already knew where she was going with this.
Heaving a sigh and bracing his hands just above the grill, Inuyasha closed his eyes and tried to keep his aggravation on the subject leashed. “Mom, don’t. Please,” he implored, tired of her always bring it up, really not in the mood to hear it today.
Of course his mother didn’t listen and suddenly she was beside him, looking a little guilty but there was a new resolve in her eyes that Inuyasha wondered about. “I’m sorry dear, but I just want you to be happy. I know you don’t like it whenever I bring it up, but I just don’t want you to give up.  It’s so important to me that you never lose hope, my love. All I’ve ever wanted is your happiness, that’s the only reason why I always say this.”
Inuyasha was silent, staring hard at the wires, pipes, and metalwork that he’d just spent the last hour and a half buried in. Finally he sighed and stood upright, however he didn’t meet his mother’s eyes. “The only woman I need in my life is Sadie,” he murmured at length and at the sound of her name, the Husky popped up and trotted over to nudge at his hand with her nose. He scratched her ears with his claws, being careful not to smudge her fur with his oil-stained hand.
Izayoi echoed his sigh at the response, the one he gave almost every single time the subject arose. “Inuyasha,” she said and waited until he looked at her before reaching up and tenderly cupping his face, uncaring now of the grease smearing it. “Just promise me you won’t give up? For me?” She gave a hopeful smile, her eyes pleading with him.
Inuyasha sucked in a breath and closed his eyes as his shoulders slumped in defeat. Dammit, he could never deny his mother anything, especially when she looked at him like that. Desperately hoping he wouldn’t live to regret this, he opened his eyes and gave a short nod.
His mother’s smile was radiant and it elicited his own smile, though it was small. “Thank you, darling,” she whispered and pulled his face down so she could kiss his nose, the only place on his face grease-free. “You’ve made your mother very happy.”
He said nothing and watched her head back to the door that opened up into the kitchen but then arched a brow in question when she paused and turned around to regard him inquisitively.
“By the way, dear,” she began, a smile flirting with her lips. “I just remembered that next Saturday I’m having lunch with Sesshomaru and Kagura and won’t be able to pick up my weekly order at The Bellflower. Would you do your mother a favor and pick it up for me around noon, please?”
Inuyasha frowned at the odd request but shrugged. “Yeah, I guess. A friend’s dropping off his car that morning, but I should be done in time.”
His mother beamed. “Thank you, dear. Just talk to Kagome and she’ll get it for you.” With that, she blew him a kiss then disappeared back into the kitchen, closing the door softly behind her.
“Kagome?” he echoed, frowning at the unfamiliar name. “Must be new,” he mused then shrugged it off, uncaring.
Heaving a sigh and then shaking his head, Inuyasha stretched, deciding to forget about the conversation he’d just had with his mother and concentrate on fixing her car. He could get the belt in today if he wanted, but it wouldn’t make sense to do that without a new alternator so he’d put it off until he could order a new one, either online or at one of the auto shops in town. For now, though, a hot shower sounded like a good idea. The stench of oil, grease and sweat, however used to it he was, was still unpleasant and he was done playing around with cars for the day, anyway, as much as he enjoyed it.
He went about packing up his tools and cleaning up any messes he’d made before shutting the hood to his mom’s car, and Sadie stood up, tail wagging, ready to go home. Inuyasha grinned at his dog, rubbed her head affectionately then jerked his head and getting the hint, the Husky barked once and ran outside via the open garage door, sniffing around the front yard a bit before going over to wait patiently beside his truck.
Inuyasha watched her fondly with a smile, but it quickly faded and a frown took its place.  It was true what he’d said earlier; his beloved dog really was the only girl he needed in his life. He’d had her since she was a pup, absolutely adored her and he knew Sadie returned the affection. She was loyal, protective, possessive – a fleeting grin lit his face when he recalled her less than receptive reaction to all his ex-girlfriends – and he knew he could trust her to never break his heart. Hell, she was pretty much perfect when it came to females, and he was happy with his one and only girl by his side.
But… He sighed again and dragged a hand down his face, propping his shoulder against doorway and staring listlessly at his dog, who’d grown bored waiting for him and was now wandering around aimlessly and sniffing everything in creation. Okay, so maybe that last part was a lie; maybe he wasn’t truly happy, but what choice did he have other than to settle with what he already had? He was a half-demon; that fact alone made it difficult enough to find anybody interested in a relationship with him. Throw in fucking fate or destiny or whatever the hell you call it that thought up that Soulmate bullshit which ordained you could only obtain true happiness with one person, and that booted it right up to damn near impossible. Which explained why all of his past relationships had failed, but that never stopped him from stupidly trying.
Oh, and let’s not forget the fucking eye color thing, Inuyasha thought with a scowl. Just another heap of shit on my already steaming pile of ways to fuck me over. He allowed himself a minute of bitterness, and then snorted and shook his head, grumbling under his breath. Despite all of his negative feelings about the whole thing, however, he had promised his mother that he wouldn’t give up hope, or whatever, and aside from Sadie, she was the most important woman in his life. He’d never broken a promise to her in his life, and he wasn’t about to start now, however bleak the situation appeared to be.
I just hope she won’t be too disappointed when I remain alone for the rest of my miserable half-demon life, he mused sourly as he finally pushed away from the doorway and picked up his toolbox.
Because, after all, his thoughts continued as he stepped out onto the asphalt and tipped his head back to look up at the dull gray sky, where the hell am I ever gonna meet someone with blue eyes in Japan?
Something cold and wet nudged his hand and he looked down to find Sadie, tongue lolling out of her mouth, head cocked to the side, and her mismatched gaze of gray and green staring up at him.
Inuyasha’s face softened and he released a soft chuckle as he crouched down and scratched the Husky’s ears. He received a doggy kiss to his chin in return. Well, someone with two blue eyes, anyway, he silently amended, his mood suddenly lightened. Sadie always had that affect on him. If he was feeling own, she always had the ability to bring him right back up and he adored her for it.
“You’ll always be my number one girl,” he whispered and dropped a kiss to her muzzle before straightening and walking to his truck, opening up the driver’s side door. “C’mon, Sads,” he called and swung his toolbox into the bed. “Time to go home. I’m thinkin’ Charcoal Corral for dinner.”
Sadie perked right up and she gave a little whuff, her tail wagging as her front paws danced excitedly.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes but he was grinning. “Yes, I’ll get you their doggy special.”
With a gleeful bark, Sadie wasted no time in darting forward and leaping into the red Ford, taking her customary place in the passenger’s seat and having the call to look at him like, “Well what are you waiting for?”
Inuyasha gave his dog a deadpan stare. “Spoiled brat.”
 She barked at him.
Shaking his head, but chuckling, Inuyasha hauled himself up behind the wheel, closed the door and started it up before backing out and taking off down the street.
 -X-
One week later at approximately 12:30 pm, a red Ford pickup pulled up in front of The Bellflower and Inuyasha quickly hopped out, throwing a “Stay, girl, I’ll be right back,” to his dog and taking a minute to give himself a once over before heading inside. The car he’d been working on before coming here had taken him longer than anticipated and already running late, he hadn’t had time to change into clean clothes. Thankfully though he’d managed to keep them mostly strain-free and he’d spared a minute to at least scrub his face and hands before taking off.
Can’t say anything for my smell, though, he thought as he discreetly smelled is arm and wrinkled his nose, but then shrugged. Meh, whatever. I’m only gonna be a minute anyway.
Thinking he was as good as he as gonna get, Inuyasha pulled his worn ballcap down tighter on his head and pushed open the door to his mother’s favorite flower shop.
Inside, Kaede was in the middle of filling out various order forms for plant food, soil and other inventory they needed when the bell above the door rang clear through the shop. The elderly shop owner looked up, and she was somehow not surprised to find grease-stained clothes and shaggy silver hair sauntering inside, hands deep in his pockets and amber eyes looking curiously around.
Izayoi, you sly little devil, she inwardly chuckled to herself and smiled in welcome to the half-demon. “Inuyasha,” Kaede greeted warmly. “It’s been a while. Picking up for your mother, I assume?”
The silver-haired half-demon directed his gaze over to the front desk and offered a grin in return, striding over to where she was. “Hey, old woman,” he said fondly, knowing she would take no offence. “Yeah, I’ve been busy with work and crap. Sorry I’m late. I know Mom said noon, but the car I was working on took longer than I thought. Didn’t even have time to change.”
She eyed his clothes and arched a brow. “I see that,” Kaede said dryly and only shook her head in amusement when he simply grinned unrepentantly.
“Kagome just went out back to the greenhouse,” Kaede explained. “She’ll be back shortly and I’ll have her get your order.” She watched as recognition flared briefly in Inuyasha’s eyes and she fought a knowing smile. Ah, she thought. So Izayoi mentioned her name, but nothing more. “Where is that dog of yours?” she continued, her mind already plotting. “You usually bring her with you.”
Inuyasha visibly brightened. “Sadie’s with me, but I left her in the truck since I was only gonna be a few minutes anyway. Why don’t you go say hi? I left the windows down and she probably misses you.” He shrugged, thinking he wouldn’t mind sticking around a few extra minutes if it meant his girl could see one of her favorite people.
Kaede’s brown eyes twinkled. “I think I will,” she agreed, and then they both heard the sound of a door slamming coming from the back and without missing a beat the shop owner called, “Kagome?”
A series of grunts and the sound of something heavy being dragged across the floor before a short “Yeah?” echoed back to her.
“The Takahashi order is ready to be picked up,” she said, watching the half-demon carefully out of the corner of her good eye. He was staring at the door that led into the back with curiosity, and she knew those ears of his were twitching under his cap, straining to pick up every sound.
“Okay! Um, I’ll be out in just a minute, ma’am!” Kagome called back, obviously thinking it was Izayoi picking up again, and Kaede couldn’t hold back the chuckle at Inuyasha’s slightly affronted look. “Ah! No, don’t tip over you stupid bag! Eee!”
Kaede shook her head, already used to her employee’s near daily struggle with bringing the heavy bag of soil inside. “I believe I’ll go say hello to Sadie now,” she said, grabbing a doggy treat from under the desk she kept for that exact purpose and not failing to miss the tiny smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he watched the door. She patted his arm. “Kagome will take good care of you,” she said, the double meaning lost on the half-demon as he merely nodded. Smiling to herself, Kaede shuffled to the door slyly flipped the sign on the door from open to closed before easing open the door and letting it click softly shut behind her.
Resisting the urge to kick the stupid bag and make even more of a mess than she already had, Kagome huffed, settling for a deadly glare at the offending one thousand freaking pound bag (okay so it was only fifty, but whatever) before spinning around and going to retrieve Mrs. Takahashi’s order, trying to shake off as much as the soil that spilled on her as she could. This one was composed entirely of tulips in shades of red, orange, and yellow. Kagome smiled as she grabbed it from the cooler and hip-checked the door to close it. Izayoi certainly favored warm, vibrant colors, she noted as she headed toward the door.
I would kill to see her garden, she thought idly as she shifted the bouquet to one arm and used her free hand to brush off some of the soil as she used her butt to open the door, grateful it was of the swinging kind. “Sorry about the wait,” she said as she approached the counter, eyes scanning over the blossoms in her grasp for any dirt she might have missed. “I kinda sorta spilled a bag of topsoil back there and I tried to clean up as much as I could before getting your flowers. I hope my hands didn’t get too much soil on them—”
Kagome looked up, and the tulips fell to the floor.
Shocked blue clashed with astonished gold and time stopped. Kagome stumbled back a step, fingers hovering before her lips, pressing her free hand to her suddenly thundering heart while she watched, wide-eyed, as the man took a cautious, halting step toward her, his mouth moving but no sound forthcoming, one hand raised, hesitant, disbelieving.
Gold, she thought, feeling an onslaught of tears prick the back of her eyes. Not…not yellow. Gold. Suddenly remembering, Kagome dropped her gaze to the flowers at her feet, and gasped, a quiet, almost hysterical sob erupting from her throat.
She could see them. The flowers. She could see the bright yellow of the tulips with the red and orange, mixing together beautifully, creating a vibrant rainbow and her vision blurred as she whipped her head back up. The man had moved closer and was before her now but she couldn’t move. Her feet were rooted to the spot and, strangely, she didn’t want to move. Kagome held her breath, teary blue eyes locked with magnificent, ardent amber as his hands slowly lifted to cup her face and another sob, this one borne of joy, bubbled up from her throat. She smelled oil and grease, and didn’t even care.
Kagome felt…conflicted. Jubilated, awed, shocked, and befuddled all at the same time. She couldn’t believe it, and yet the proof was right in front of her face. Honey-gold eyes that were staring so intently into her own, swirling with emotions, some of which mirrored her own, and some that made her heart skip a beat. She wanted to jump into his arms, she wanted to run away; she wanted to laugh, she wanted to cry; Kagome wanted to question just what the hell was happening, and she wanted to just dive right in, bared, vulnerable, open to whatever he was willing to give her. It was crazy, it was scary, and it was…wonderful.
Blue. Her eyes were blue, and they were the most gorgeous, stunning crystal blue eyes Inuyasha had ever seen, nevermind that they were the only blue eyes he’d ever seen. But they’re the only ones that matter, he thought, swallowing the lump in his throat. And that thought should have had alarms going off in his head, should have had him reeling back in shock at himself, but for some reason, one he didn’t even have the slightest inclination to dwell on, he felt like he’d known this woman for years despite only having met her literally two minutes ago. The connection, the instant bond; it was real, it was damn near palpable, and fuck if he wanted to question what seemed so natural, what was meant to be. What was fated to be.
This woman…she was made for him, he for her, and that was the all of it.
His Soulmate – his goddamn Soulmate, Jesus Christ – lifted trembling hands, pushed his cap off his head, and her touch was soft, reverent, as she tenderly cupped his face, and Inuyasha was uncaring of the soil that smudged her hands. Taking a shaky breath, he leaned forward to rest his forehead against her own as he carefully thumbed away the tears leaking from her beautiful blue eyes and cascaded down her cheeks.
“…Hi,” he said roughly, emotion making his throat tight, his mind to go blank. Christ, what was wrong with him? He meets his motherfucking Soulmate for the first time and all he can say is fucking hi?
Somebody give him a goddamn medal, the boy is smooth.
 Fucking idiot.
A small laugh burst from her throat, her warm breath fanning against his lips, and she gave a watery but genuine smile. “Hi,” she breathed back, those brilliant baby blues fringed with dark, thick lashes closing briefly but fluttered right back open; she couldn’t stop staring into his beautiful golden eyes. “I’m…Kagome,” she muttered, and then blushed.
But then he smiled and her heart beat just a little faster. “Kagome,” he repeated, his thumbs stroking her flushed cheeks. He sighed, and then one of his hands slid into her hair, fingers tangling in the midnight waves as he ever so gently tipped her head back. “Inuyasha,” he muttered, and his lips brushed over hers in the sweetest of kisses, the touch whisper soft, but it nonetheless sent a jolt straight through her body, and she gasped.
Again and again his lips met hers, light, teasing kisses, his mouth clinging, lingering, greedy for the feel and taste of hers and she happy obliged, letting him take his fill, kissing him back and wondering if anything had ever felt so right before in her life.
Neither knew how long they stood there for, trading kisses, little smiles, and soft sighs of bliss and by time they’d finally stopped, Inuyasha’s arms were wrapped around her waist and her arms were around his neck. Bodies pressed close, foreheads touching and sharing a secret smile, they simply basked in the afterglow for a moment, savoring that had just transpired, both reluctant to move away but knowing they had to return to the real world sometime.
And thus, Inuyasha finally pulled back after one last, tender kiss and raised a clawed hand to tuck a strand of raven hair behind her ear. Her gave her lopsided smile, gazed into those gorgeous ocean eyes and said, “Come with me?”
Kagome didn’t even have to think about. “Yes,” she breathed, returning his smile with a giddy one of her own and she giggled. Inuyasha chuckled, then pressed a kiss to her forehead before reluctantly releasing her from the circle of his arms, only to snag her around the waist and haul her into his side. Not that Kagome complained; she snuggled right into him with a happy sigh, her own arm going around his middle as together they walked toward the door and Kagome wasn’t even thinking about the repercussions of leaving her job without alerting Kaede.
Little did both of them know, however, that said woman had witnessed the whole thing through the storefront window, with a curious husky hanging over her shoulder, and suspected that such a thing might happen, and had prepared for it. Shippou should be here shortly to cover the rest of her shift.
As the newly united Soulmates stepped out into the bright sunshine, they paused, exchanged a happy, knowing glance, then tipped their heads back as one and took in for the first time what had been denied them since birth.
The brilliantly sunny, clear blue sky had never looked so beautiful.
