Stardust (SAGAU)

A/n: I don’t know why I wrote this, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing where I was like “I have many feelings I need to write”. Lumine is the traveller in this.

Pairing: Lumine X Reader, implied Gen

Warnings: milder side of yandere (?), mentioned cult, religious themes, the usual stuff with SAGAU

Summary: You are the stardust that ran in their veins, the echo behind every breath and the force behind their every motion. Why are you so insistent that they must hate you?

Lumine finds you overlooking the ocean as the sun is setting, the sky still a warm red.

There isn’t anyone around, not even hilichurls, in this little area tucked away from the world. It makes sense how no one had stolen you away yet but out of everyone, Lumine was always the best at finding you. You still catch onto her presence before she makes herself known, the same as usual.

“Lumi,” you say, the cute nickname slipping from your lips out of habit, “come to whisk me away?”

“Not really,” she answers as she walks closer until she’s behind you.

“Paimon?”

“She’s with Amber right now.”

You hum and pat the ground beside you. “Do you want to sit with me?”

It isn’t phrased like it’s an order but Lumine wishes it was. You should be more selfish, she thinks to herself, as the wind drifts past you. Everyone would rush to fulfil your commands, no matter how big or small, to make you happy. But, you never make demands so everyone’s stuck hovering around you, guessing what you want.

She goes ahead and sits next to you.

“Have you been looking for me for long?” you ask first. “I would’ve returned before it got too late.”

“I missed you.” The words that come out are honest but not the complete truth. Of course, Lumine had missed you, every waking moment without you felt like something was missing in her, but she was more terrified that you’d leave and never return. It’s better than before you arrived in Teyvat, at least, back when there was nothing she or anyone else could do if you got bored and didn’t like the world, the people anymore. But still, who wouldn’t be scared that their god had abandoned them?

You stare off into the sea as though you can’t quite comprehend the notion of someone missing you.

Lumine’s heart aches.

“Thank you.” Your words are polite, too polite for a god so far above everyone else.

“(Y/n)-“ she calls because you don’t like the fancy titles and positions and she’s desperate for you to understand what she wants to say as she scoots closer to you, “we, everyone, misses you whenever you leave. I can’t exist, can’t live, without you.”

There is no Lumine without you, no direction without your guidance, no life without your love. It’s so difficult to continue moving without you guiding her, commanding her body to do what you wished. She and Aether had been made for you. The entire purpose of their being is to be yours. The unavoidable truth of their existence was that they were always meant to be extensions of your will from the start.

And Lumine had been lucky to have been chosen by you. Aether wouldn’t hold it against you or her because he is kind. In some ways, she thinks he would have been better suited to be your vessel. He’s warmer, closer to the sun while Lumine is the moon. Still, she’s grateful that you chose her. She doesn’t know what she would do if you hadn’t.

You hold your hand out as a form of comfort for her to hold. Lumine takes it.

“But isn’t it terrible,” you say, “to be stripped of all agency? To be a puppet to whatever I choose to do?”

Even though you aren’t quite responding to what she had said, she knew what you meant. Maybe it would’ve been terrible to the others at the beginning but not anymore, not when they had felt you sinking into their skin, to their fingertips, through their entire being.

“It’s love,” Lumine whispers resolutely, “to us. To me.”

It’s hard to tell where Lumine begins and you end. You were a part of her, in her blood, in her heart, in her mind. She was yours.

And possession was love, wasn’t it? It was love in a way that she could understand.

“Did it really feel like that? Like love?”

You look small in the moment as though you were merely a child, unused to love. You had asked, when you first met Lumine, if she had been disappointed that you were human. She isn’t sure if she could really call you human when the world itself always, always answered your call without fail.

The universe bows to you and deems you its creator. Could you really only be “human”? Truth be told, she thinks you’re closer to divinity than anyone else in the world, not the Archons, not Celestia, not her.

Lumine sits closer to you and wraps her arms around you tentatively. You hesitantly place your own around her back.

“It’s like stardust in our veins,” she tries to explain. “Like falling but knowing there’ll always be someone there who loves us enough to catch us. In the face of the ever-expanding universe, it’s easier to take comfort in your presence and feel like we exist.”

Your warmth sinks into Lumine’s skin and as your breath tickles her neck, she shivers. It reminds her of when your presence had been draped over her as she travelled Teyvat. Shimmering, bright, guiding the way to those close enough to see your light.

“I love you,” she murmurs like a confession.

And you-

You don’t answer at all.

(Still, you think it’s obsession you see in their eyes, devoutness taken too far, completely delusional at worst, but you think that if you tell them that, they’ll say it’s love.)

(You’re afraid you’ll believe it is too.)

Yandere! House Monster x Reader (II)

It’s officially a smutty sitcom: you, the oblivious gamer boyfriend, and the tentacle monster lurking in dark corners.

[First part]

Content: gender neutral reader, monster smut

Do monsters have a sense of humor? This creature seems to be greatly amused by the little "game" you've devised behind your boyfriend's back. Although you don't have much input in the affair, and most of the time you're merely a witness to the events unfolding before you (or in you).

First, there's the mild, inoffensive annoyances. "Babe, did you see my controller? I swear I left it on the couch". Some pranks are harder to swallow than others, such as the occasional lack of Internet. You know exactly when it happens, because you can hear your boyfriend's enraged shouts and rattles. It's always during important matches. No one knows why it happens. The repairmen who cross your threshold can only scratch their heads in confusion, confessing that nothing is out of the ordinary.

Then, the unfortunate coincidences. "How about we have some fun after my game?", the boyfriend will suggest with an anticipative grin. Alas, moments after he stands up, he is overwhelmed by a nauseous feeling. His stomach twirls and throbs, and he curses under his breath. "Some other time, perhaps", he concludes begrudgingly. You see, the creature is very possessive. The only thing that has saved your beloved partner from being torn to shreds already is his crassly comical obliviousness.

The mischief aimed towards the boyfriend is, however, a secondary source of entertainment. Nothing could ever come close to spending time with you. Yet another irony to this ridiculous situation: you haven't been caught yet, despite the rabid clinginess of the tentacled monster.

It just loves surprising you. For example, when you exhale dramatically at the end of the day, relaxing in the bathtub and enjoying your peace. Just as you hear an impatient knock on the door, you notice a familiar dark tendril slithering its way out of the water. You won't be leaving the bathroom anytime soon. "Did you steam yourself over there? You look like a lobster", the boyfriend will remark with a raised eyebrow upon seeing your panting, feverish face. "Y-yeah, I guess so." You limp outside, struggling to hold the towel around your body. Or more specifically, around the many marks left on your skin by hundreds of suckers.

In fact, its shamelessness reminds you of a poorly written erotic scenario, the likes you'd see on some adult website with a clickbait title. How would you name this current setup? You grip the edge of the table, pursing your lips to prevent any moans escaping your mouth. Your boyfriend is, once again, scrolling on his phone, indifferent to your presence. The water boiling on the stove drowns the wet, slippery sounds of the appendages pumping in and out of you underneath the table. “You might want to give it a stir in a moment, or it’ll overflow”, the boyfriend remarks without lifting his gaze. You mumble in agreement, slapping a hand over your mouth. You’re at your limit.

One may be tempted to ask, is this entity bound to its house? You pondered the same question until your recent IKEA visit. You and your boyfriend had been looking for a new wardrobe. "What do you think of this one?", you asked, closing the door and turning around. Your eyes scanned the empty model-bedroom. The jackass had wandered ahead without you. You sighed and were about to go find him, when a cold grip suddenly tightened around your wrist. You winced and snapped your head back. Thick tendrils had made their way out of the closet, tugging you to join them inside. So it can follow you around, you thought, climbing into the cramped space. Between the silent whines and breathy begging, an idea emerges from your dazed mind. New hypothetical video title: mercilessly molested in the IKEA store by monster partner.

Yan Genshin Boys / Darling Breaking Up.

Childe

Childe tries really hard to play it off as a joke in poor taste. Truthfully, he saw this coming from a mile away. He had adequate time to prepare his response as a result. If this doesn't work, he'll completely forgo his lighthearted façade, shedding it like snakeskin. He says he understands your concerns (his tone is cold enough to make you doubt the claim), but that it isn't anything you both can't work through. That's what relationships are about! Open communication and compromise. His family loves you, he loves you, why would you want to ruin a good thing? He knows how to talk you in circles. It's so frustrating and you're already in an emotionally vulnerable state. Being a member of the Fatui, he's done his fair share of interrogations. He knows how to systematically break a person's defenses down.

Diluc

You can't tell by his expression, but the poor man's heart is absolutely shattering. He doesn't know what to do with himself. He feels as if the best thing he has in his life is about to walk out the door. His lack of a response doesn't aid the situation; you're waiting for him to say something and he's just silently standing there. Thinking. His gloved fingers drumming on his mahogany desk. Whether or not you'll be allowed to leave Dawn Winery depends on if you told anyone you were coming here. If you did, then you get a couple more days of freedom while he finalizes certain arrangements. If you didn't, well... the suite he had made to his customizations will finally have a tenant.

Kaeya

Kaeya makes you question if this is what you really want. He'll acknowledge his shortcomings, yes, but he'll also point out yours. If you're both contributing to a problem, it's only fair that you work together to solve it, right? He carries this quiet confidence to him that puts you under his thrall. He knows what to say, how to say it, and when to say it. He's good with people and there's no one he knows better than you. If you were upset with him, you'll forget what was even bothering you in the first place ten minutes into his talking.

Zhongli

Zhongli wants to get to the heart of the problem. He doesn't go for the whole "it just isn't working" spiel, he wants specifics, something tangible to work with. The level of tact he uses when obtaining this information is commendable. You don't even think he's trying to talk you out of what you've come here to do. Any concerns you raise are treated with a level of respect that you almost feel is unfitting of the situation. He makes you feel heard and seen, always such a reliable pillar of support. Negotiations are his forte. The God of Contracts knows when to make concessions and when to stay firm. However you intended this to go, it inevitably sways in his favor instead.

Albedo

Albedo is eerily quiet to the point you end up rambling far more than you intended, trying desperately to fill the empty space. He had considered this possibility before, so he isn't completely thrown for a loop. It's far more unpleasant unfolding in reality than a hypothetical in his mind, though. How he navigates this tricky dilemma depends solely on you. If he thinks you can be talked into changing your mind, that's what he'll do, calmly going over things in that tone of his that makes you think everything is going to be alright. This is the method he'd prefer, since it'd change your relationship the least. Should you prove particularly stubborn, he can always use alchemy to synthesize a compound that'd make you drowsy... so this conversation can be continued in a more remote location.

Scaramouche

Takes it the worst from everyone here, no competition. It doesn't matter the tone or words you use, he's positively seething on the inside, an unbridled ball of rage and hurt. You're trying to leave him. Everyone always betrays him. Even you, the one he begrudgingly holds in high regard (at least compared to how he views everyone else). He's upset with himself for getting in this vulnerable position, he's upset with you for adding to the list of betrayals he's experienced, and he's upset with the world for thinking it could ever succeed in taking you away from him. He won't let it end this way; you're a fool if you think you're going anywhere after stealing his manufactured heart.

Xiao

He doesn't really understand what you're getting at. The concept of a 'breakup' is lost on him. He doesn't view romantic relationships in the traditional sense, he never ascribed a specific label to your connection. He views you as his favorite being to spend time with, so it's not like you can say he isn't your 'boyfriend' anymore, the moniker was technically never in play. The conversation isn't fun for either of you. Xiao does get that something's off about your dynamic, so he'll give you some space... for a time. Still watching you from afar, obviously, he has to keep you safe. He has no clue how to navigate this interpersonal stuff. He just kinda hopes to settle back into your routine and hovers around in your general vicinity to encourage this.

Kazuha

You probably won't be able to follow through with your "it's not you, it's me" speech. His eyes... oh, his eyes are so soft, glassy, almost. He patiently lets you say your piece, hanging on your every word, not rushing you and even placing his hand atop yours when you get emotional. He reassures you if you try to take the blame; he never likes it when you put yourself down. The fault clearly lies with him. If only he could provide you with an opulent lifestyle, you deserve someone better than a ronin from a clan whose name was forgotten by time. In a panic, you try to assuage his worries, and that's all it takes. He's got you right where he wants. It's not even entirely intentional on his part, which further adds to his credibility.

Before you he wasn't exactly big on doing christmas at home - he used to go out in bars and picked people up to go have 'fun' in the bathroom of the said bars.

After you came into his life, and he kidnapped you, he obviously stopped doing that and finally saw the perspective that christmas was a holiday to spent with thoses that are dear to you. And well, you were more than dear to him.

He will set up and decorate the christmas tree with you - he prefer for it to be neat so he may fix up what you put up when you aren't in the room.

In term of christmas eve, unless you are a good cook - you both are eating a regular take out for it, but he will purchase a yule log though !

And for christmas in itself, he will buy you a gift - you most likely will know what it is in advance because he isn't exactly discrete when asking what 'you could eventually want but it's only hypothetical and totally not for christmas'.

On the 25th of december, he will wake you up very early, like 6am. He will act surprised and happy whatever you gift him. Will jump into your arms and kiss you. And you better act surprised and happy at this gift too if you don't want him to be all grumpy.

Asper most likely forces you two to spent christmas like a 'regular' couple - except for the all hanging out outside and looking at the decorations or going to a christmas market. It maybe a holiday season but he cannot afford any risks or you leaving him.

He will try his best though. He will decorate the entire house to be christmas themed - in the hope that he may win a few points with you, after all yes. He may be holding you captive but hey, at least he made the house cute, he deserves something for that right ?

He'll try to make you forget for a moment your current situation - he is delusional enough to think that him trying to give you a sense of normalcy ( which he do mostly for himself ) may make you like him more - or forgive him a bit for kidnapping you.

He's the type to cook an entire christmas dinner and force feed you it - he will buy oysters force them down your throat, he will cook scallops and cut them in smalls bits and make you eat them while you are tied up to a chair, with red ropes, obviously.

Christmas is not really a thing for faes, they have somewhat similar holiday, mostly focused around gift giving and spending time with your family but it happen during the summer and is quite underwhelming compared to christmas.

Realistically they already knew about christmas but they couldn't bring it first, they could wait for you to bring it up. But they already have prepared a few things like a gift for you and a small tree, it's in one of their closet which they forbade you from cleaning since you started working as a servant.

Once you bring up christmas, they laugh at your face and tell you something along the line of 'Do you really think, I could celebrate a silly human holiday ? How do you take me for ?' but it will be quickly followed by a 'Well, if you beg well enough I may indulge you.". Even if you don't beg, they will be very much in on celebrating christmas.

With only the two of you of course ! They refuses to get anyone else involved - with the exceptions of their family cook which they will give the tasks of cooking.

They use this as an occasions to make a ginger bread house, they saw various things about it while reading human literature and they always wanted to try so they will act as if they only did it for you. ( The house ended up breaking after 30 seconds and the kitchen they borrowed was such a mess, cleaning up was awful and they regret their idea - they still check it out of their list of thing to do. )

Thomas was never big on christmas and it doesn't change with you - if you really insist in it he will try his best to be enthusiastic about it but don't expect too much from him.

He won't even help you decorate or anything - at most he will get you a gift for christmas that he won't brother wrapping up and will accompany you at a christmas market solely for the food, and because he does find it cute and romantic to walk around with you in the snow.

when I started reading gideon, I thought the houses were like planet-coded

we end the chapter with harrow appreciating yandere twin's company because, when she found her after she had stabbed not!dulcinea's corpse, she said "wish you'd taken off her arms"

Yandere! Self-Aware! Markus/RK200 (Detroit: Become Human) with gamer darling. It can be depicted as romantic or platonic. Always enthusiastic with the choices made for him and doesn’t mind if darling made some mistakes either. However I’d like the darling to be female, of course if that doesn’t bother you.

The cool thing is this doesn't really require much knowledge about what happens on his route. I'm mostly focusing on how he'd react in this so no need for many spoilers or anything :)

I'd love to experiment with this idea even if I am not the best with Self-Aware yanderes!

Honestly, with a game like DBH a self-aware yandere actually seems very interesting.

Why, you may be asking?

Compared to other video game characters, games that require you to make choices like DBH affect the outcome and the character.

Essentially, a character in DBH is dependent on their player to develop themselves.

Sure, many self-aware yanderes feel guided by their player.

In DBH it feels more intense because your choices actually develop their personalities.

Although it would only be this intense if they're a player character like Connor, Kara, or Markus.

These characters are ones you play as in DBH, which means you as the player shape their story.

You shape how they act.

You shape them.

These three as self-aware yanderes would be intense due to this.

Like in this example;

Self-aware! Markus can either be a pacifist or choose violence in how he deals with people.

His darling chooses that for him.

Honestly, Markus was already one of the most self-aware player characters in the game.

He was the first to go deviant, funnily enough he'd be the first to grow self-aware too.

It's an experience for him.

Not only does he learn he can be much more than an android, he also learns he's in a game.

He feels he has control, yet you're the one making decisions.

It's a conflicting feeling but he begins to not mind it when you guide him.

He actually... likes it when you shape him and his personality with your choices.

When he does see you he's intrigued by this woman who guides him with such wonder.

Markus does accept every choice you make with slight excitement and curiosity.

He understands if you make a mistake but for the most part he looks forward to what you'll say in certain situations.

Part of him wonders if the others, Connor and Kara, know your presence.

Part of him is actually jealous of the thought and hopes they don't.

Markus accepts the fact that you two need each other in a way.

In order to play the game, you need him.

In order to find just who he is, Markus needs you.

Markus assumes the personality you shape for him is to your taste at times.

Did you want him to be a pacifist? Did you want him to be violent?

He assumes you're shaping him to your tastes... he finds it endearing in a way.

Markus, like most yanderes in a video game, would want to meet his player face to face.

Markus feels he wants to meet the partner who has shown him many paths.

You've shown him kindness, you've shown him violence, what has he learned from all of these choices?

In the end, he is yours.

He actually doesn't mind it too much.

For the most part Markus would watch you through a camera on your device or accept the fact he can only adore you from afar.

Yet let's get... hypothetical and unrealistic.

He has only ever known you as his partner... the same should be with you.

When Markus enters the real world, he begins to isolate you.

He feels it should just be you and him.

You could be a girlfriend or just a close companion, Markus dedicates himself to you either way.

Markus may even think of ways to bring you back to his world.

Enable me, why don’t you. It’s actually very interesting to think of a situation or a chain of events that could make the ROs unhinged like that, though I don’t believe it could happen in their current idk lives? Let’s see, tho. Under the cut for the peeps who don’t like that shit:

Flavio is the type who you’d never ever suspect of scheming, but he’s also a bit of a double-faced person in general, always trying to seem positive and kind even when it tires him out. He’d be the one who’d never be caught because even if MC had a hunch, they’d have no proof. Flavio, I think, would be a very mild case, relaying on white lies and puppeteering the environment to get what he wants and ensuring that MC knows he’s a good, kind, and sweet person, their exact type, the only one they will EVER need.

Reed already is prone to falling into co-dependency, and if not for his pride and wanting MC to see him as reliable, I could easily see him pretending to be weak and helpless to endure MC’s continuous care and attention, even going to the point of fabricating injuries and confrontations.

Jewel is tricky, because she’s so level-headed, but because she’s prone to anxiety, I think she could fall into the trap of ‘you’re only safe when you’re with me,’ since she’d only be assured of MC’s safety if she can see them. Opposite of Reed, she could be the one manufacturing little accidents and scares to keep MC exactly where she wants them, which is by her side constantly.

Laurent already has a tumultuous relationship with control, but what if instead of controlling himself he’d want to control everything else, just to make sure nothing unexpected happens? A bit similar to Jewel, Laurent would be terrified of the idea of MC being hurt or dying, resorting to extreme measures like uh that one cage meme— I am kidding, he’d buy them a house, deep deep in the woods, with no dangers around. Just him :)

Nino has anger issues, but she’s not exactly manipulative, she’s also very aloof and doesn’t care about most people. I think she’d be the kind that acts normal until something triggers her, i.e. someone hitting on MC, and then her ire would be pointed at said person. Well, people die all the time in Elazar, such is life. If they find another body in a trashcan, it surely has nothing to do with her, right?

Alan is already great at manipulation, which comes with the job. In his personal life, he’d like to ensure the person he loves wouldn’t ever dream of leaving him, and he’s creative enough to find just the right scenario for each occasion. Similarly to Flavio, though a bit more sinister, Alan would make it seem like he’s doing you a favor, up until the point when you realize all your life with him was a lie.

Yandere!Lucifer would not mind at all if your will to fight back disappeared. In his eyes, it means you have learned your lesson and won't be foolishly disobedient anymore. He will probably give you more privileges because of it. The starving yourself, he would not approve of. He decides what you eat, how much of it, and when, so he'd tell you to knock it off.

Yandere!Mammon would at first like your new attitude because it means he can do whatever he likes with you, but then it would start to bother him. I think he actually likes the banter the two of you get into, so seeing how deflated you are now would make him kind of sad. He'd probably try to act goofier to make you laugh and chide him. The not eating, Mammon wouldn't see a problem with a first, just thinking youre on a harsh diet (which isnt abnormal in his social circles because hes a model), but once you started showing physical symptoms like being faint, sallow skin, shaking hands, brain fog, he would tell you to stop it and eat more. He might do this in a snarky way to hide that he feels bad for the role he played in your becoming like this.

Yandere!Levi has more experience with two dimensional people than real people, so I don't think he'd quite understand how bad things were getting for a long time. He'd see you losing the will to fight as making you more sweet and gentle, and make you dress up in frilly lacy pink things like docile characters in whatever he's reading/watching. He also would probably agree with you that it increases how dainty you seem for you to eat less, remarking on how you're like a doll that only he gets to play with. He wouldn't notice until your symptoms got much, much worse that there's a problem, and I think it would probably take him asking one of his brothers (in a poorly disguised hypothetical) to figure out exactly what's wrong.

Yandere!Satan doesn't just want you to be docile, he wants complete and active submission. Saying that to say, he doesn't just want you to nod when he's talking to you, he wants you to kneel and bow until your head touches the floor. If you are submissive in that way, he will love it. If you're not, he'd be irritated and you can expect more abuse until you get it right. Once you start eating less, though, he'd probably consult with some books on humans to figure out what has gone wrong with his. Eventually he'd find some stuff about the physical impacts of eating less and the psychology of the way you're behaving. Then start trying to unwilt you the way someone does to a plant, so he'd take you outside on walks on a leash, play music for you, let you talk to one person a day (humans are social creatures, after all) and tell you to eat more. If you refuse to eat he will make you eat by force.

Yandere!Asmo won't like that you're more docile because to him it would feel like you're less attentive. He likes when you're outgoing and opinionated, he wants you to be fully present with him (and only him) and reactive. He'd assume you're kind of depressed so he'd take you to do fun stuff to try and cheer you up, like shopping and amusement parks and spas. With the not eating, I think Asmo subscribes to diet culture in general because of some lines of dialogue he has, including a couple about dieting himself, so he probably wouldn't even give you not eating a second thought. He may give you a compliment or two. I think he would be another who needs someone else to point out that it's becoming an issue.

Yandere!Beel would not like that you are romanticizing the situation because to him the way that he restricts and sometimes abuses you is a means to an end, where you can be a happy family together and you won't try to run away any more LOL He would try and tell you that he's not really like that so you don't need to get used to it, and when you seem comfortable while restrained he would be sad. The not eating would also make him really sad. He would encourage you to eat more and more, and probably would also force you to eat if you didn't.

Because of his own experience with being restrained, if Yandere!Belphie is chaining you up and abusing you, you have probably made him very, very angry. At this point he doesn't trust you at all, and you've probably done something to make him feel abandoned. He'd not buy your docile "act" and maybe even mock you for it (Belphegor ur chapter 16 is showing). You'd better work hard at regaining his good favor, because who knows what he'll decide to do if you let him stew on it? He also would not like you not eating your food, but at this point he's more likely to just order you to eat rather than force feeding you.

Maybe 2 of the darlings begin to be more affectionate towards one another, and confide in each other to a whole new level of trust, and they start to realise that the bond they share between one another is perhaps more ‘safe’ than the one they share with their respective yandere?

It’s impossible for the darlings to become close, let alone help one another. For starters, they only see each other during the extremely rare public event/ Harbinger’s meeting, and the Harbingers are cautious enough to keep those interactions brief. The yanderes would definitely take action if their darlings ever showed interest in becoming more than acquaintances.

Also, the darlings are too broken and codependent on their yanderes to seek other close bonds. By the end of their fics, Kitty and Assistant are too delusional to perceive the twisted reality of their situation. Meanwhile, Damsel and Savior are both resigned to their Stockholm Syndrome because they’ve never felt “happier” since meeting their Harbingers. So their feelings for one another will never extend beyond surface-level camaraderie or passive concern :<

And I just feel like, whenever you change a characters personality like this, they become more silly by proxy (in this case; Heather becomes more cat-like than she was before). And you're right, most of the 'psycho' characters are just made... Sillier? I guess. In a sort of macabre way. I think I already said this but they're very much so supposed to embody a non-serious "edgy creepypasta OC" sort of energy. Half the fun of the AU is having the characters give off Happy Tree Friends vibes, whilst maintaining some semblance of their canonical selves.

I.e. Heather's a very goal driven, single-minded person in canon, so that would be ramped up to eleven in this AU to have her be almost obsessive/'yandere'-ish towards her person of interest (in Island, this would be Gwen). She's also a really sore loser, so maybe that could also be amplified to the point where she physically/violently lashes out whenever she experiences a perceived 'loss'.

Just take a lot of canon Heather's attributes and amplify them to their illogical extremes.

And she's already fairly cat-coded in canon, so this Heather can be even more cat-like, as a treat!

I dunno. The concept of this AU was supposed to be a one-and-done hypothetical. Then again, most of the AUs I brainstorm are supposed to be that, and yet!!

Having a lot of feels and thoughts abt stamp Nai's relationship with Rem so here I go.

I know Nai's yandere brocon behavior tends to overshadow other parts of his character in the anime, but the idea that he hates Rem out of jealousy bc of Vash's love for her isn't really it imo or at the very least not entirely. Nai is... a very contradictory character and as a narrator he's unreliable as hell, his perception of events is deliberately distorted (from a narrative standpoint, I mean) and warped by trauma and the beliefs he clings to as a result of it.

As far as the childhood flashbacks in tristamp are concerned, there's no indication that Nai felt insecure or envious of Vash's relationship with Rem and they both interacted with her in equal measure (which I actually found interesting bc in the manga, we only see Rem talking to Vash abt the geraniums, in tristamp they're both present) previous to the discovery of Tessla, that is. And there's still mostly a blank space within the aftermath of Tessla and Nai causing the Fall that we know nothing about aside from that brief conversation between Vash and Nai in ep 11.

Albeit his personality as a kid is pretty different from his manga counterpart's, you can still see that Nai was happy with Vash and Rem in ship 5 and he even got all shy/flustered when she was affectionate towards them.

Idk but that doesn't look like a child who actively resents or fights his mother for his brother's attention. And curiously enough, while the piano (and the duet) is Nai's direct link to Vash, it is ironically his tie to Rem as well. It is imo perfectly framed here in these shots and dialogues from ep 11:

(Note how Nai avoids answering Vash's question here and deflects by bringing up the memory of Tessla.)

That's the piano Nai plays in ep 9 during the duet flashback, and here the three of them are framed directly in front of it AND the flowers. If the geraniums are used as a symbol of Vash's connection to Rem, you can probably see where I'm going here when the piano - which is mostly Nai's thing throughout the story - is shown this way. I have more to say abt this ep but I'll go back to that in a bit.

In ep 9 we get the most blatant lines from Nai depicting his possessiveness toward Vash and his resentment not for Luida as an individual, but what she represents - a Rem-like, human figure in Vash's life that keeps his brother from choosing Nai's side. Nai doesn't know Luida, and he very likely had no idea Vash was staying in ship 3 (Conrad himself was surprised to see her) so when he says you witch, how many times? how many times will you steal him from me? He's not seeing Luida - he's seeing Rem. Which is emphasized by the fact that, previous to that, Vash himself mentioned Rem by name when he retaliated against Nai and tried to stop him from his attempt to kill Luida.

"So that means he resents Rem bc she takes Vash away from him!" Yes... but that's not all of it. Imo, part of the betrayal Nai feels everytime Vash chooses humans over him is, in a way, an extension and amplified version of the betrayal he likely felt when Rem herself chose not to take his hand and escape with them during the fall. Whether him reaching out to her was genuine or not is up for interpretation, but considering that we never saw Knives in the manga do the same - to me, that's a very deliberate addition in tristamp's writing.

As for Nai feeling betrayed by Rem's choice... You have to understand that from Nai's pov, Rem hid the gruesome truth abt Tessla, and discovering her mutilated body probably put a lot of things into a very different perspective for him. Being registered on the same database as his Alive But Torn Apart Sister (with Vash's info ominously saved in the same folder as hers) who was kept in the same room as the ornamental flowers mixed up with Rem's insistance that Nai should pretend to act human/hide his powers from the other crewmembers in a hypothetical/future situation must've seemed extremely grim in retrospective, even if Rem was very likely doing that to keep him safe. Still, he offered his hand to her and Rem chose to stay and save humans instead. The same humans that had, from Nai's pov, hurt his sister and would've probably done the same to him and his brother.

Which brings me back to ep 11 and this bit in specific:

Read above then read this dialogue again, remember that Nai is (among other things) the king of projecting his issues onto Vash, and well. Shit starts making a lot of sense. Another thing that's worth noticing in this scene is that, throughout the memory manipulating, Nai wears just his bodysuit. It's only when confronted with the memory of Rem and erasing her from Vash's mind (killing her, again) that he hides behind the blade-cloak. Very interesting and deliberate visual choices.

Also important to point out that Nai's paradise free of pain, fear and humiliation is one that's a replica of the garden back on ship 5. Even after doing his best to erase Rem from Vash's memory, the safe and happy place that he desperately wants to go back to is that in which they both lived with her.

Despite his very ehem. questionable methods, I do think Nai is genuine in his wish to protect Vash and liberate their sisters and that yes, he does resent Rem or rather, what Rem represents when it comes to his relationship with Vash. Thing is, Nai tends to downplay his own feelings, bottling shit up and using Vash as conduit for hardcore projecting.

Imo, Nai doesn't resent Rem bc Vash loves her. He resents that her beliefs and her sacrifice for humanity's sake were imprinted so deeply into Vash's being that he keeps doing the same - choosing humanity over Nai, even to his own detriment. Nai keeps losing Rem and Vash to humanity again and again and he hates it, but the most tragic part of it is that it is pretty much a hell of his own making.

i would assess the situation and act accordingly. i'm probably better at hacking, stealing, and chemistry than most people, all skills that can really come in handy against others. i would simply ruin their lives and show them why i would be the best option for my beloved's future. drain their bank accounts, take their weapons, make it so they don't have time for stalking or creating shrines... if they can't defend against my attacks, they have no place with them. and if i need to, i'll just bring them to an alley and stab them until they stop twitching! no one is going to fucking touch my beloved! even just thinking about it is making me pissed off...

That’s a difficult question to answer at this point, since we only have the demo, some teasers, and Sleepy Time Jack to draw hints from. I suspect that there’s a lot more of Joseph’s personality in Jack than he would be comfortable acknowledging.

All of us wear a persona when interacting with other people. It’s just human nature. Most of the time the persona is of the person we want to be rather than who we think we really are deep down. I think that’s Jack’s situation in a nutshell.

Sunny Day Jack is an ideal self Jack wants to be. Joseph is not.

That doesn’t mean Joseph was a bad person, even if he was a troubled teen who struggled to get along with others. He seems to have befriended his co-stars as an adult. He was invited to the wedding of one and called “a good man” by the other. He seemed genuinely concerned about doing right by the children in the interview with the psyche consultant despite mistakes he made when he was a teen.

It seems like Joseph was just a man who made mistakes as a teen. He learned from his mistakes, matured, and was trying to do better in the present after reinventing himself. However, despite his efforts and friendships, being reminded of his life as Joseph now is traumatic for Jack.

We see shades of Joseph disliking his past self in the psyche recording. He reinvented himself by changing at least his last name and running away. Jack is Joseph running away from his past identity and self for a second time. Even in the interview, he seems uncomfortable thinking about his past.

Judging by how some of the comments from his school days still haunt him enough for him as Jack to turn it around onto one of his hypothetical victims, it’s possible that being reminded of his past would cause a similar traumatized reaction.

Hell, for all we know, the yogurt could have reminded Jack of his time as Joseph Cullman and not as [Redacted] Haberdae.

I suspect the Jack persona is, in a way, surface level, much like the makeup, clothes, and wig he wore to dress up as the character when acting. It’s still mostly the same person underneath, but with a much more polished presentation.

Even the birthmark on his cheek is covered up when he’s dressed up. Judging by the same mark appearing on his hypothetical child, that mark could have been inherited from one of his parents as well.

Jack has no tattoos, which Joseph regrets getting. Jack is always happy and cheerful, never getting tired and worn down, needing to get a fix to make it through the day (cigarettes, if not worse). Jack was beloved by so many people across the USA, both young and old. It might be another reason why the interviewer digging for dirt, such as nude photos, set him off.

Sunny Day Jack is “clean” and wholesome. He was the “candy coating” over more unpleasant things on the show, and I think that Jack is the “candy coating” over Joseph in the present day.

The jokes, the positive affirmations, the colorful clothes, the makeup and hair, the squeaky-clean G-rated personality who could never swear... (Heck, he even smells like fresh laundry according to Sauce. The scent of nicotine lingers for a long, long time even after a person quits, so this is a deliberate change as well.) I think these are the parts that make up Sunny Day Jack.

The parts of Joseph that Jack has kept, at least in my opinion, is the more emotional side of him, the unguarded bits. These include his fears of being alone and forgotten, his love for MC, and being so very starved for love and physical affection.

I mean, hell, the fact that Jack makes out with MC and even has sex is absolutely something we can attribute to coming from Joseph rather than Jack. After all, that sort of NC-17 rated behavior is not fitting for a wholesome kids TV host.

Of course there’s also the yandere tendencies. Violence is a bridge too far for Sunny Day Jack, but those urges are there in Joseph. He can justify the sex as another way of expressing love, but hurting someone? Killing someone? He can’t justify that as the character he’s playing. But he needs to get rid of these threats, and he’s just so angry with them for getting in his way. This is why I think he basically talks the person into doing harm to themselves.

Ultimately, I do believe that the person we know as Jack really is Joseph, just lost in his role. Everything ideal about himself is attributed to being Jack. Anything “unclean” is attributed to the person he was before. Jack has reinvented himself as the character, but the core of Joseph is still in there, whether he likes it or not.
