Moral of the Story. Chapter 22.
Tumblr media
Summary: Marrying too young out of highschool leads to a naive and failed marriage. Now 10 years later, word comes that the divorce was never actually completed. Bucky and Y/N have to come back together after all these years to settle what wasn’t all those years back. Passive attitudes, miscommunicated endings, and reminiscing of old loves and lives all comes back for the two.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Y/N
Word Count: 3900+
A/N: Ok! So this is the last official chapter! I have finally finished the series and my next plan is to write an epilogue eventually as soon as I come up with a storyline I would like this to round out to. I hope you all enjoy as much as I did writing this series. It's crazy that it all started with listening to a song while doing my hair. I have a lot of stories I've been brainstorming on, but refused to start until this one was done. So bare with me and my crazy schedule of teaching for when the next story is to come:) XOXOXOX
Chapter Twenty-two:
Another long list of flights to get her across the country, but she was back in her childhood bedroom and resting for the night.
She had gotten a really late flight in and her dad was nice enough to pick her up around midnight.
The house was quiet and being home brought back a form of peace. A peace she never knew she missed until she got a taste of it again in the recent months.
But there wasn’t much time to rest and focus on that as she had lunch with one of the new businesses the next morning.
She hadn’t told anyone besides her family she was coming in since she wanted to surprise the rest of the group. However, a piece of her was also not sure how to with a certain person.
But for now, her focus needed to stay on work.
She had a great lunch with one of the small businesses that she had become rather close with in her time in highschool, which was now a booming business in the community it had started in. They were the florist shop she would visit anytime she went to the farmers market and were now in the top three florist shops in North Brooklyn.
The meeting went well and they were very flexible and open minded on starting and learning new concepts to start implementing more eco-friendly routines into their work.
Since the meeting was short, she decided to head to one of the coffee shops in the area and get a taste for a new place she was sure she’d become a regular at.
She did a little research as to what was the most sustainable in the area, something she was pretty consistent with, and happened to find a small shop about a mile walk away.
She ordered a matcha latte and grabbed a chocolate chip cookie to snack on as she looked more into some of the businesses she would be talking with throughout the week.
In a little nook, she watched as the New Yorkers went about their normal day. Dogs being walked to teenagers giggling at the videos on their phones.
She missed this atmosphere. Though LA and Brooklyn were big city based, it didn’t mean that they were similar in every way. East coast and west coast were two very different cultures.
After doing a substantial amount of research, and a little bit of spaced out daydreaming about the changes of the city, she packed up and headed out to get back home for dinner.
With her hands full, she turned her back to the push door and opened it while backing up. She said a quick thank you to the barista who wished her a happy day, and before she could fully step outside, she was already running into someone.
“Oh, sorry!” she mumbled, quickly trying to catch the extra pastry bag she had bought for her father.
Before the bag could hit the floor, the stranger caught it and she looked up seeing those damn piercing blues as if they had been waiting for their entrance into this next chapter in her life.
“Y/N?” he said, followed by a surprised smile. “What are you doing here?”
“Bucky,” she laughed, somehow at ease with his reaction. “How are you?”
“I-I’m good,” he chuckled, handing her the brown paper sack and going to open the door so she was no longer leaning on it. “Wh-What-?”
She moved out of the way as another person excused themselves behind her. Bucky and her relocated to the side of the door where a few outdoor tables stood half occupied.
“What am I doing here?” She asked his question again for him. “Business,” she nodded.
“Business?” he questioned relaxing in his spot. “On the other side of the coast?”
“Funny, isn’t it?” she smiled at him, knowing his brain was still trying to catch up. “Yeah, um, my co-founder, Donna, and I got a lot of feedback from the stores I handed out company cards to on my short visit here. My friend thought it would be a good move to come over here and work with them and see if we could start reaching out to other areas.”
“Wow,” he sighed. “That’s amazing. I’m sure your family is extremely happy with that.”
“Oh, you know exactly how that’s going,” she smiled, looking at her feet then back at him. His gaze never once wanted to leave hers in case this was a dream and she would disappear any second. “Dad’s my own personal alarm clock. Sherri is helping me get the bathroom organized upstairs so it's ‘just as I like’ as she put it. Chloe is insisting on a movie night every night until I leave. The list goes on…”
“I can think of a few other things one of the best bed and breakfast might be doing,” Bucky agreed.
“They are a really good host family, huh?” she teased.
“So how long are they hosting you for?” Bucky questioned, tilting his head.
“That’s TBA…” Y/N hesitated to answer. “At least 3 months, but it all depends on how business goes.”
“3 months? Wow,” his eyebrows shot up. “That’s quite a bit.”
“Yeah, I’m excited for it though,” she shrugged with a happy grin. “I had kinda been moping around work since my visit here, and Donna came up with a way I could get out of that rut and possibly make our company bigger in the long run. Sure, living with my parents for 3 months might be a push.” She sighed. “But I just feel like I missed so much of their lives being so far away that being back makes 3 months seem like no time at all.”
She realized her short rant was a little more personal than she meant to come out with, but when she looked up at Bucky, he was following every word like it was a start on a treasure map looking for lost gold.
She let out an awkward laugh. “That was a lot for answering how long I’m staying. I guess you’re just the first friend that I’ve seen, so I’m unloading it all on you first.”
The word. Used so simply and so naturally, either of the two could have carried on without a thought to it, but they didn’t. Because it wasn’t simple. The natural part had made it convincing and sincere.
She had thought out the sentence and when it filtered through her mind, she didn’t think to correct it because it was… Natural.
They were friends again. And the tension held between the two had been healed to non existence. It felt comfortable again…
“I’m glad I’m the first friend to find out,” Bucky said just as simply as she had.
They stood there smiling at the other and a silent emotion flowed spontaneously through them that was the utter perfection of peace.
The 10 years apart had done them good in the end. Little did they know, it wasn’t until that 10 years came to an end that they fully transformed to their best selves.

“We haven’t had a poker night with Y/N since highschool. Think she’s going to be as good as she was last time we played?”
Bucky chuckled at Steve’s comment as they laid out bags of chips and the blonde scooped dips into serving bowls.
“I think I still owe her at least sixty bucks,” Bucky mumbled as he thought back to their highschool gambling days. “Maybe more, but don’t remind her.”
“I’ll keep quiet. I think I owe her more than that,” Steve realized, pausing on the dips.
There was a second of silence as they set up for their party and classic rock played in the background from Bucky’s playlist.
“I still can’t believe that you, out of all the people in the city of Brooklyn, ran into her before she told us about her return home,” Steve laughed, grabbing some of the beers they had out and putting them in the fridge before going back to his previous job.
“You and me both, pal,” Bucky nodded, leaning on the counter. “But I’m glad it happened.”
“I’m sure you are,” Steve chuckled under his breath.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Bucky shot a friendly glare his way.
But then a knock on the door sounded and before either could look at the direction of the wood barrier, Sam was running out from the hall to answer it.
“I got it! I got it!” he shouted, jogging as if he had been waiting for someone.
Steve and Bucky shared a look. The crew of everyone coming tonight wasn’t going to be here for another 30 minutes or so. And they don’t remember ordering anything…
After a minute they heard him mumble a thank you as he closed the door with a box in hand.
“Whatcha got there, Wilson?” Bucky asked, slowly watching as Sam grinned at the delivery.
“Is that-?” Steve seemed to catch on faster than Bucky.
“Dinner from my sister? Hmm mm,“ he hummed with a wide smile that showed the gap in his teeth.
“I thought we were doing finger food tonight?”
“Y’all are, but this isn’t for you,” Sam was quick to correct.
“Whose is it?” Bucky raised an eyebrow.
“It’s for Y/N and I,” he answered simply, putting the fresh cajun food into the oven to stay warm.
“You and Y/N?” he resaid as if it would make more sense a second time.
“Yeah,” he said. When he turned back to the other men he saw their faces waiting for an explanation and sighed before obliging. “Sarah is slowly starting up her business up here. She’s doing well, but I know Y/N has all kinds of connections and suggestions for local businesses. I want her to try her food and possibly take my sister as a client if I can convince her.”
Steve laughed and crossed his arms as he placed the last bowl of dip on the bar top.
“I’m pretty sure you could have just mentioned your sister was a local entrepreneur and she would have jumped at the opportunity to get in touch with Sarah,” Steve smirked.
“She’s actively looking for people to work with anyway. That’s the whole reason she’s here,” Bucky added.
“Well, this way, she can sample just how good my family's passed down recipes are worth to invest in,” Sam shrugged, happy with his plan anyway. “All it takes is one bite.”
“You’re really going to not share,” Bucky asked, peering at the closed oven door.
He had a taste for Sarah’s home cooked meals. Sam was kind enough to bring leftovers when they had family dinners, and they were also regulars at her new restaurant that had been open for the last three weeks now.
“You’re more than capable of calling a delivery in,” Sam retorted, getting a not as friendly glare from Bucky this time. “Or are you struggling with money? Cause I can let Y/N know that you may need a little longer on getting her that $60 you were talking about…”
The glare became even less friendly at the dig and he wished he hadn’t said anything with Sam in the vicinity.
“Why did you have to go and make friends with that guy?” he huffed, turning around and directing his question to Steve even though Sam was in the room.
“God, you guys,” Steve groaned, shaking his head and escaping to the living room.

Wanda and Vision were the first to come, then Clint and Laura. Slowly people trickled in and though it was a small reunion, it was nice to see the entire crew back together.
Now they were just waiting for their last guest.
“She’s running a little behind, isn’t she?” Bucky asked, checking his watch for the 10th time in the last 5 minutes.
“Relax,” Steve sat at the table where they were getting the poker chips sorted. Wanda and Clint laughing next to each other and Vision and Laura on the couch talking about random things. “She texted she was stuck in traffic. Her Dad took the car, so she had to haul a cab.”
Bucky heard him, but that didn’t give him any sense of ease. He felt as though he needed to be a little bit prepared for her coming, and the only thing he had control over in that area was the time they had set. Of which she was late for such a punctual person.
As if manifesting her to appear, the last planned knock of the night cut through the room.
“I got it!” Bucky practically jumped up from his seat and raced to the door.
In his tunnel vision to the door, he missed the looks the entire crew shared and the smirk Steve had as he shuffled the cards.
Taking only a second to collect himself, he opened the door, and there she was; dressed in a pair of jean shorts and what Bucky knew was a thrifted vintage shirt with sneakers and bag of chips and case of beer in hand.
Tumblr media
“Sorry I’m late,” she smiled at him bashfully.
“Better late than never,” he replied with a smile of his own. “Come on in,” he waved, moving out of the way for her.
She thanked him as he took the food and drinks from her, yet stayed by her side. He could tell that there were nerves in her stance, but upon seeing a sincere smile, she relaxed.
“Y/N!” Wanda shouted, jumping up from her seat and rushing to hug her friend.
“Wands!” Y/N chuckled, opening her arms as she met her in the middle.
She went around the room saying her hellos and happy to see you’s to everyone she had missed. It took a second for them to get to the poker part of the night as they were catching up and reminiscing on life.
Eventually they were seated and Bucky grabbed the chair right next to Y/N with Wanda on the other side of her. In the olden days, he was one of the few people who could catch onto her tells in the game of bluff. Because of that, his best vantage point was from across the table, but he didn’t care about winning or losing tonight. He just wanted to be next to the person he had so long wished to be this close to again.
And if Y/N was being honest, it was nice being in close proximity to him now that it felt like old times. She missed the comfort this group gave her, but she realized she also missed all the little quips and classic Bucky behaviors that came with being friends with him again.
It didn’t go without notice from those around them how easily they fell back into the habits they used to share as best friends. Slight nudges when the other had tricked them. The eyes rolling anytime Y/N caught Bucky trying to jokingly peek over her shoulder to see her cards. The name drop of “Everest” every once in a while as he teased her.
They may not have picked up on it, but it was clear as day that the flirting was happening and the sass and sarcasm they two spit back to each other was spoken as if the 10 years between now and then had never happened.
“Sam, this is amazing,” she said in shock as she took a bite of the shrimp pasta that his sister had perfected. The buttered bread along with it was perfectly dusted with garlic and other spices to compliment the main dish.
“My family has the talent of making some of the best comfort food around. And now I don’t have to worry about flying out to Louisiana anymore to get it,” Sam gleamed in pride.
“This is,” she paused, finishing her bite. “Just amazing.”
“Thank you,” Sam chuckled. “I was actually wondering if-”
“Here, let me get you a card. I would love to work with your sister if she’s willing. I think she’d be a great partner as a locally owned woman started business,” she rushed to her purse to hand off her business card.
“I told you,” Bucky mumbled, coming in and overhearing the conversation as she ran past him to the living room.
“I like her,” Sam grinned. “I never thought I would say it, but you have good taste, Barnes.”
Bucky rolled his eyes at the comment and Sam followed behind Y/N to continue talking business until their next round of whatever card game they decided on next.
But like any night, the evening was coming to a close and people had to get back home for work the next day.
Clint and Laura were the first gone and Vision and Wanda had just left, leaning Sam, Bucky, Steve and Y/N.
“Welp, I guess I’m the next one out. I should get home before midnight since I’m waking up early for another meeting,” Y/N announced, standing and stretching.
“Do you want me to call a cab for you?” Sam offered his new friend.
“No, that’s fine,” she grinned, patting his back. “I just need to check the app-”
“I can take you home,” Bucky interrupted, making everyone turn their head to the brunette who was sitting on the couch.
Steve’s eyebrows raised at the quick proclamation and looked between the two as they stared at each other, both caught offguard by his quick offer.
“I have some things I need to drop off for your dad,” he was fast to cover. “For a new project we’re working on,” he added.
“I don’t want to be a bother-” she started, trying to be polite, but also internally hoping he didn’t listen to her.
“It’s not an issue,” he waved off, standing and coming around the furniture. “I’ll go grab those things and we can head out.”
He pointed back toward his room and waited for the all clear.
“Ok,” she nodded with a smile. “I guess you can make it your way of paying me back for that $60 you owe me for the last poker game.”
He wasn’t expecting that quip and immediately put two and two together, turning slowly and threateningly to Sam.
Steve tried to stifle a laugh at the conversation, but wasn’t successful.
“I’m going to kick your ass,” Bucky muttered, walking by Sam giving him a smack to the back of his head.
Steve’s laugh got louder as he gave up trying to not be too loud.
“Don’t think I forgot you too, Steven. You also have a debt to my poker skills,” she pointed.
Steve sombered at the call out and sent a nervous smile to her, before taking the beer from the end table and bringing it to his lips to keep him from having to respond.
_______
The ride started out a little awkward. Especially since now it was just the two of them and they didn’t have their friends to be buffers.
The first couple minutes was quiet until Y/N spoke up pointing out a new store she hadn’t noticed on the block before.
They had small talk about the conversation starter and it got quiet again.
“You know, you didn’t have to drive me home. I could have called a cab,” she mentioned while looking over at him.
He smiled and shrugged and moved to just have one hand on the wheel.
“I wanted to,” he replied honestly, looking back at her before the road. “That and I really do have somethings to drop off for your dad.” He figured if he made it awkward, the deflection would help.
“Not like you couldn’t come any other day of the week,” she sassed but in a joking manner.
“Right, right,” he nodded with a small laugh, going along with her sarcasm. “Well, long shift tomorrow and the next day, and the next day…” he waved his hand, selling his point.
“Hm, what a shame,” she shook her head with a sly grin.
Bucky turned at that comment.
“How so?”
“Well, I was going to ask if you wanted to join Chloe and I for movie night tomorrow. I think she was inviting Becca, so I figured I’d invite the other Barnes kid,” she smiled looking ahead. She was too nervous to see his reaction in case she was taking too big of a step.
But all she heard was silence.
Her cheeks began to burn red. She was scared that if she looked at him, she’d see confusion and realize she played her cards wrong.
But that was the opposite of what she saw.
She turned, seeing that at the stop sign they had approached, luckily the only ones at the four way stop, he had turned and was staring at her in shock. But not a bad kind of shock. At least it looked good. He had a soft smile as if he couldn’t believe she would suggest something as amazing as it was simple.
“You want me to come to movie night with you and Chloe?”
“Well, yeah. It would be like old times but with both of our little sisters,” she replied, refusing to look away from those eyes that she had gone so long without really gazing in. “I hope that didn’t come off weird,” she was quick to redirect. “I just realized I really enjoyed your company tonight, and if I’m being honest, I’m feel we are at a spot where we are trying to step back into our friendship, and-”
“Y/N,” he stopped her when she began fumbling on her words in nerves. She stopped and looked at him worriedly. “I think a movie night is long overdue,” he said simply. “And I’ll be honest as well… I really miss hanging out with you too.”
His hand came to lay on top of her and he gave her a squeeze. Instinctively, she opened her hand to hold his.
“I’m glad we’re on the same page,” she smiled widely.
“It’s been a while.”
“I’m glad that wait time is over then.”
“I agree completely.”
The tags are being weird and won't let me tag. I'll try again tomorrow, but if you know someone reading this, feel free to tag them!

high school sweethearts was fantastic! i can def see the blood sweat and tears put in!
i think you have a huuuge gift for writing angst bc as much as i enjoyed the happy and the flirty bits, i was kind of living for them fighting oops
i actually was reading it prior to the rewrites and i didn’t think there was any issue, but definitely you putting in the time and care to do so paid off. it really really is lovely.
i love you for this thank you so much!! the rewrites were mostly just typos and stuff hahaha, but for some of them ('not anymore') I wanted to add more context and content cuz even I wasn't happy with the lack of banter and shit

loud. everything is loud. the smell of sweat and blood stains the air around you. the sounds of people cheering and shouting towards the center of the large room. the lights are buzzing above you as you are walking into the entrance of the shitty run down gym your brother, jesse, and his girlfriend, dina, ended up dragging you to tonight.
you didn't mind coming along with him but this wasn't what you expected to be doing tonight. after a long shitty week of unpacking your new apartment, you kinda just wanted to end up a hole in the wall bar and drink your stress away but he had other plans. which including watching grown men beat the shit of each other for their cut at the end of the night.
it was intimidating, walking through the crowds of people you didn't know until you finally make it to where his friends were waiting for you guys. they were sitting at a table with a clear shot of the fight which was surprising since the whole place seemed to have more people in it then it could fit. you make your way awkwardly to the empty seats saying a gentle "hello guys" to your brothers friends who you didn't knowl. you sat next to dina as jesse made his way to the bar with your drink orders.
after you graduated highschool, you moved to new york and spend 4 years there working in a small cafe you lived above but now at the start of the summer, still not sure what you should be doing with your life. now you're 22 and you've moved to the city of jackson to be closer to your older brother and his girlfriend. you were excited to start fresh in a place where no one knew you yet, you were ready to leave your old life and those toxic things in the past. but you wondered if it was even possible.
you spend the next hour talking with dina and catching up on the things that have happened since you moved, "have you started looking for jobs yet?" she asked as you both sipped on the second drink of the night that jesse went and brought back a bit ago. you've only met a couple times in person since they started dating about 2 years ago but you loved her, she was making this night a lot better. "not much luck yet, i don't know what to do, luckily i have some time to figure something out." you responded. she went to say something but then the loud speakers around the room started blaring music and the countdown to the match that was about to start.
jesse tapped dinas shoulder to go watch with the rest of them. dinas eyes met yours and asked, "are you coming up?" you started getting nervous as the people started getting louder and crowding towards the center ring and told her that you'll stay here and watch. they both nodded and said they'd be back when it was over.
you took this opportunity to finally go get some fresh air since the crowd isn't all over anymore and it was a straight shot to the door you came in, you walked over to the side of the building, definitely feeling the drinks you had, you let your back rest against the concrete wall, finally cooling you down on this hot summer night. there's people standing outside talking but they payed no attention to you. you stayed against the wall as you pull out the cigarette pack from the pocket of your thin dark green jacket and the lighter out of your back pocket in your jean shorts. you cursed yourself for not buying more but its a bad habit and you know it. you pulled one out and put it in your lips as you brought the lighter up and took a drag, finally letting the anxiety go as you stared off into the sky.
"excuse me miss, you shouldn't be out here alone, a beautiful girl like you," a man with a rough voice said but you didn't move to look, suddenly wishing you never left your apartment to begin with, "hello i'm talking to you, its not nice to ignore people, ya know," he slurred his words as he spoke. you turned your head as you went to tell him to leave you alone but instead, he was standing in front of you before you knew it you dropped your smoke and now he's practically cornered you.
he was so close you could smell the alcohol on his breathe as he spoke again, "now are you gonna talk to-" you leaned away from him as he was interrupted by the sound of a door opening a few feet away, he looked towards it but then turned back to you just as quick, almost touching you as he went to speak again but he was beat to it.
"get off her." you didn't even realize the door had opened until you heard her.
the man looked back towards the door to the figure in the light, he squinted and when he got a good look, he suddenly backed off and put his hands up. "hey hey i wasn't doing nothin- it was nothing!" he shouted back to whoever was next to the still open door, light shining into the alley.
the door slams and the light fades as the figure walks closer towards you and your eyes meet the deep green eyes of the person who just saved you as she turned to the man who was just cornering you against the wall.
"it doesn't look like nothing, i mean, really? you're fucking joking right?" she questioned him as she looked him right in the eyes.
"i said it was nothing- she was flirting with me and-" he was cut off as she laughed loudly. "yeah you're full of shit, get the fuck out of here and don't let me see you again or you'll regret it." she said as she stepped closer towards him, almost at the same height, he looked scared of her. "okay, okay- fuck 'm leaving!" he slurred one last time as he turned around and headed the opposite way of the run down gym.
you stood there as the interaction happened, not sure what to do or say yet, you were silent as he walked off, and those green eyes met yours again and you saw her lips moving as she was speaking but you caught nothing she said. "hey, you okay there?" she asked you as she went to stand in front of you, looking you up and down, checking if you're psychically okay while she gave you a second to process before she asked you again.
"hey sweetheart, you okay?" she asked and grabbed your arm, not in a way that the man would have but like she was actually making sure you were okay, and this time you finally heard her.
"h- yes im okay, just- fuck- yes thank you." you said finally getting a good look at her now that she's up close and touching you. her eyes were greener than you thought, her short auburn hair with some pulled back into a bun, the big moth tattoo wrapped around her right forearm that was still holding onto yours, other tattoos littered her arms and some poking out under her t-shirt she was wearing. she was so close to you and it sent butterflies through your body. now is not the time, you thought to yourself.
"are you sure- 'm sorry that happened, fuck him." she said roughly, not towards you but him.
"its okay, thank- thank you for helping me" you said gently to the girl who was still looking into your eyes. you had been so focused on hers that you didn't even see the tiny scars, small healing cuts and the bruises that were fading until you looked over her face again.
"yeah of course, are you here alone?" she asked you curiously still holding on to you, you weren't even phased by it. you told her you were here with your brother and she nodded her head towards the door, "lets get you back to him before anything else happens sweetheart" she said as she guided you to the door, hand on your back, as you swallowed and went first.
suddenly all the sounds that you had not realized you had been blocking begin again, smells of the sweaty bodies surround you again and you felt too hot, either because of her or the summer heat trapped in here. once you made it inside, she moved her hand off the small of your back and told her to go find your brother and to get home safe. when she walked away, you realized you didn't even know her name.
you saw dina, sitting along with a few of jesses friends and made your way over to her. the match must've ended while you were outside. you walked through the gym to sit back down, moving carefully to avoid touching anyone. once you made it to the table, dina wondered where you had ran off too. "oh just went out to get some fresh air," you said back to her smiling, not wanting her to worry. she told you jesse went to get more drinks and after the encounter outside, you needed it.
jesse came back a few moments later, holding a round of shots for you three. "here you ladies go," he spoke with a happy look on his face. you smiled slightly back and took the glass as dina laughed at him. you took the shot, trying to forget what happened outside with the man but not what happened with her. you wondered if you would see her again. is she here to watch? could she work at the bar? is she here with friends too? your thoughts were interrupted by an announcement over the speaks that the final match was gonna start soon.
dina and jesse were telling you, "its the last one tonight and the last ones are always the best so lets go!" you would rather sit and order another drink, but what if something else happened cause you were alone? so reluctantly you got up with them and got closer to the middle ring, you heard the loud speakers announcing the boxers as they entered the ring. you weren't even paying attention, nothing could stop your mind racing with thoughts about the girl outside.
you shake yourself out of the trance when dina reaches over to you to touch your hands that were shaking but you didn't even realize, you look to her and give her smile that she returns, then she looks back to the ring and you turn your head to follow her eyes to the center. and your breathe caught.
thats her.
thats the girl who saved you outside.
the girl with her hands wrapped in tape and the mouthguard in.
the girl who wondered if she'd ever see you again either, not that you knew that, but she hoped it wasn't the last time.
you wondered what she thought as you both stared back at each other. you heard the coach start the countdown. you just watched her.

forbidden fruit | g. satoru
Tumblr media Tumblr media
cw. satoru n reader arent together yet, thinking ab making this a mini series but idk.. lmk? smutty, forbidden love / lust, p in v, unprotected sex, petnames such as "sweets, sweetheart ", he says "pretty-face" other than that, no implied pronouns. afab reader, reader and suguru are siblings, and live together, but are both adults, suguru and satoru still have sleepovers, cumming inside, secret relationship, satoru gives reader messy aftercare, mentions of cumming inside. requests open, reblogs r welcome <3!
Tumblr media
satoru loves you for all the following reasons, because you're alluring, funny, smart, talented, attractive, intuitive, and well, because you're forbidden for him.
he and suguru made a bet in their highschool days, that they would never fall for eachothers families, but its the risk that gets satoru so hot and bothered. the fact that if your brother suguru walked in right now, he would see how satoru lost the bet, only few years down the line.
"y'know, suguru would be upset." you mumble out as satoru peppers kisses down your neck, his hands on your waist while he lets out a breathy laugh. "thats what makes it fun sweetheart." he says, before he's pulling moans out of you. he lays you down on your bed, as you moan out in response of his kisses. his breath against your neck, hands trailing all over your body, he helps you out of your pants, as you bring yourself on top of him. he smirks at the sight, you drag his pants down, your pussy brushing past his crotch as he groans at the lack of feeling, your hands run over his abs as you align yourself with his dick. you settle on him slowly but you adjust fast, and with the buck of his hips, you're bouncing mindlessly on his dick. "tired already sweets?" he says, you could hear the smirk in his voice as he pulled your hips up and down on him, where you meet. the sound of your moans is drowned out by the filthy sound of your rear and his front meeting repeatedly. "such a perfect fucking pussy, baby." he grunts, he knows he's about to come, but of course he couldn't without you.
he can tell you're getting close when your eyes shut, and he needs to assist further, raising and lowering you on his dick, the room is musk as it fills with the scent of your love, the sound of your moans, and the sight of you and gojo cumming.
"such filthy sounds from such a pretty face, hm? cum for me." he's still under you, watching as you bend over, your nails clawing at his chest, back and arms as you moan out, "'m cumming 'toru!" you whine out, and with a moan, you and satoru cum in unison. he brushes your hair out of your face, tapping your ass and sliding you back into your underwear, "don't loose any of my cum sweets, gonna have to fuck it back into you." he shrugs his shirt back on, throwing on his pants while he wipes off your face with a cold cloth, "sorry i couldn't clean you up better sweets, promise next time ill fuck you right." he kisses your temple, and cracks open the window, lights a candle to clear out the smell of sex in the air. he changes the sheets, and brings you a glass of water, before slipping out of your room with a mumble of "goodnight, no doubt you'll sleep well after getting a good dicking down? right sweets?" he leaves, on his way to retrieve back into sugurus, hoping he didn't realize how long he was gone for.

you belong with me
satoru gojo x f!reader
**part of my satoru as taylor swift songs series
content: high school!au, gojo is a robotics nerd, reader is class president, emo nanami (my beloved), toji is ur shitass football playing boyfriend, typical cheesy highschool drama
an: tell me why posting this is giving me a tummy ache like I haven't posted for gojo in forever and now i think I suck at it :OOO anyways, please be nice to me about this and close your eyes if you hate it. also, totally reliving my high school days when I was senior class vice president (worst experience of my life) FDLJFKDSJFLS
--
You’re a hater. A self proclaimed, real-life, deep in your soul hater.
What do you hate today? Being class president.
You hate that you willingly ran, somehow won, had people up your ass all day about stuff that wasn’t in your control, and got stuck in the current situation you were in. Which was arguing with your boyfriend Toji, as you pace around your room and do your own fair share of screaming back.
“You just did that shit because you were pissed at me.”
“I did not, Toji. You know, not everything is about you. Other people needed the money and I put it where it was needed.”
“To the color guard team? Babe, no one gives a fuck about the color guard team. Everyone is at the homecoming game to watch the football team. Not a bunch of idiots waving flags in the air.”
“They’re also part of the game and all their equipment is broken. They need it more than you when you guys literally get donors and funding from the district and-”
“You’re just pissed about the sweetheart thing. That’s why you’re doing this shit and taking it out on everyone else.”
“Toji, I’m not even mad about-”
You’re met with the sound of ringing over the phone, signaling that Toji had enough and finally hung up on you. You flop straight onto your bed, pushing your face so hard into your pillow that sits uncomfortably against your nose and the smell of your laundry detergent makes its way to the crevices of your brain.
You hear a banging behind you and twist around to see Gojo pointing at his walkie-talkie, switching it on as you reach for yours. It’s still covered in glittery pink stickers from when you were seven, the silver coming off on your hand every time you grab it.
“Come in, bunny.”
“Loud and clear, Toru.”
He smiles, setting his hardware down - probably for another weird ass robot he was making - as he holds it up to his face, talking again.
“You okay?”
“Yeah. Just arguing with Toji, again. I’ll start allocating some of our funds to get you some sound proof windows.”
“Much appreciated, Madam President. That’s very generous of you.”
You laugh, dropping the walkie talkie to lift your fingertips to your temples, lightly massaging the pulsating under your skin.
“For what it’s worth, the color guard team is really grateful you did that for them. I know Utahime was so excited when the new flags came in, she was flipping them around on the field for hours.”
“That’s why it’s even more annoying. I know what I did was right, but he just doesn’t see it that way. Uta dragged me down to the field to watch them and their choreography looks so much better with the multicolored flags. They were really happy about it.”
“Heavy is the head that wears the crown?”
“Heavy is the head that’s dating Toji Fushiguro.”
He laughs as you switch your channel off, taking the last few seconds to study you before you draw your curtains. He can see the tension sitting in your shoulders and how clearly it hurts you to argue with Toji like this. And it infuriates him. That you even have to go to sleep angry and that the cause is the headass idiot you’re dating.
Toji Fushiguro is lucky, far more lucky than he realizes. Not for obvious reasons. Yeah, he’s a great football player and yeah, he’ll probably get scouted for some really good university at the end of the year. He doesn’t have a shortage of friends or intelligence and for all intents and purposes, he’s loved (which Gojo doesn’t understand at all).
He’ll probably be that scumbag that people see a few years down the line and then get infuriated at. Because if an absolute asshat like Toji Fushiguro can be successful, then truly all things have gone to shit. That the patriarchy is real, that society is broken, living proof that the asshole always wins and everyone else always loses.
But no, those are common reasons to hate Toji Fushiguro - ones he’s heard echoed by Suguru and Shoko every time he does something that pisses the two of them off. Like scream obscenities in the hallways, block their parking spots when they’re going to class, call them names when they walk by.
No. Toji Fushiguro is lucky because he gets to date you. Because out of the long list of girls he had to pick one, Toji just had to pick the one that was his. The girl he’s been in love with since he moved in right across the street and had a smiley neighbor excitedly waving at him through her bay window.
To him, love has always been the pigtail braids you used to wear everyday in the fourth grade, the matching walkie-talkies you bought him in sixth grade when he got grounded, and that sweet smile you’ve had since the first day he’s met you.
And when he sees those green curtains pulled against the bay window he’s stared at for years, where he’s loved you from for years, he lifts the walkie and says what he forgot to mention.
I love you.
--
Thanks to your gracious ride, you make it to school thirty minutes early. Your intuition - that Toji was ditching you as your ride to school this morning - was correct. Luckily, you made it in time just before class started.
Nanami’s already seated on the green bench outside the classroom, headphones plugged into his ears. As you walk up, you silently wonder how much hair gel it takes to keep his Gerard Way hairstyle in place.
“Hi Kento! How is my best friend doing on this fine morning?”
“We’re not best friends.”
“Sure we are!”
You reach forward and pinch his cheek in your hand, which he only swats off and rolls his eyes at. That’s how you know your best friends. Because if it was anyone else, Nanami would probably break their hand and walk away. But he always lets you tease him, because he know he loves you.
“Are you still fighting with that dog?”
“That dog has a name. And it’s Toji. And I’m not sure, he didn’t pick me up for school this morning.”
“Did he at least tell you he wouldn’t?”
“No. I was lucky enough that Satoru had walked Megs to the bus stop a little late and I was able to get a ride with him.”
Nanami looks over, narrowing his eyes at you, as the hallway starts getting crowded with people. And you know what he’s saying, what he’s been saying for the past few months.
“You know, it’s very normal to give your neighbor a ride when they need one. Not everything has ulterior motives, Kento.”
“That’s true. Everything doesn’t have ulterior motives. But he does. I’ve seen how he looks at you.”
“How does he look at me, Kento?”
“Like he’d kiss the ground you’d walk on.”
You roll your eyes, reaching up to mess up his perfectly styled hair. It doesn’t budge and you get a handful of minty smelling hair gel.
“As if.”
Like you’ve summoned him by bringing him up, Satoru’s sidestepping to where you and Nanami are sitting, Shoko and Getou in tow with him.
“Nanami~~ How’s my best friend doing?” Satoru says, bending over to totally obscure Nanami’s line of vision.
“Shut the fuck up, Gojo.” Nanami responds.
Nanami stands up, giving you a look, before he stalks away to his next class. Leaving you, Satoru, Shoko, and Getou standing in front of your classroom.
“So. I hear you have a robotics competition?” you ask.
“Yeah. Next Saturday. We always practice our hardware out the night before, throw a little party in the lab. You should come.” Getou says, smiling at you.
Satoru smacks Getou in the stomach right after he invites you, clearly trying to tell him something with his eyes. And then when he catches you staring, he gives you a nervous laugh.
You get it. He doesn’t want you there.
“Don’t act too excited to see me now, Satoru. Anything more and I might think you like me.” you bite sarcastically.
“What? No, it’s not like that. I just-” Satoru stutters,
“So you don’t like me?” you say, smirking at him. Shoko and Getou are laughing, the tips of Satoru’s turning pink as he very adamantly tells you that he does indeed like you.
“I have stuff to set up for the homecoming game that day, so I won’t be able to. But I’ll try my best, yeah?”
“Okay. Next time?” Getou asks.
“Sure, Sugar-u. I’ll see you guys around, yeah?”
You give the three of them a polite smile as you trudge away, leaving to meet Toji at his locker and give him a piece of your mind for this morning. Which leaves Shoko and Getou to give Satoru the scolding of his life.
“Are you fucking stupid, Satoru? You made it seem like you didn’t want her there.” Shoko says, smacking him on the back of the head.
“I panicked! Plus, Haibara always likes to play Just Dance and I’d rather not embarrass myself in front of her.” Satoru responds, rubbing the now sore spot on the back of his head.
“You’re hopeless, Satoru. She’s never going to like you if you keep rejecting her the way you do.” Suguru says, dragging him along to the robotics lab.
“She has a boyfriend. Who isn’t me. As if she would even consider dating me in the first place.”
And when the three of them pass you by the lockers, clearly getting yelled at by Toji, it only furthers their argument more.
“Yeah, I’m sure she really loves him, Satoru.”
--
Your argument with Toji hours prior simmers in your head, as you wait for the bus to arrive and for this godforsaken day to finally be over. You watch him pile into his car with Salma and the other boys from the football team, which only makes your anger fester more.
He’s doing this to piss you off. Of course, he’s doing this to-
“Need a ride?”
You look up and unclench your fists to find Satoru, sparkly blue eyes shining at you and a hand held out to you.
“Thanks.”
He leads you to his car, an almost demolished Honda Civic from his maniacal driving, and you climb in, immediately putting your head in your hands. You can feel him moving around you, the engine purring on and him backing out of the spot.
“About earlier. I don’t not want you to come to the robotics thing. I just thought it was awkward the way he asked you and I-I didn’t want you to feel obligated to come, you know? And I-I’d like it if you came too and so would the rest of us.” he rambles, a hand in his hair.
You look up, his ears tinted pink from the confession.
“I was just teasing you, Satoru. I’ll try to make it by, okay?”
He sighs, a clear breath of relief, and looks over to smile.
“Okay, cool cool cool. Now tell me why you and Toji are fighting.”
“When aren’t we fighting?” you murmur, pressing your head against the glass.
“But why?”
And when you look over, his blue eyes staring into yours, in earnest while the light is red, you unload it all.
“Do you know about the sweethearts thing they do at the homecoming game?”
“Uh. That’s when the cheerleaders wear the jerseys right. And then decorate the locker room or some shit for the players.”
“Yeah. Well, it’s not limited to cheerleaders. It usually is, but if you’re dating someone, that person can do it for you.”
“So I’m guessing Toji doesn’t want you to do it for him.”
“Not exactly. He was just saying that it’s more traditional for a cheerleader to do it since they’re also on the side of the track and he wants to see his name out there instead of running around, trying to make sure the game is running and all that.”
You slump into the chair as Satoru frowns, a pitying look in his eyes, as he keeps driving. You can’t help but watch him, his silhouette against the window - defined jaw, the slope of his nose.
He’s not the guy who ran away from kissing you in the eighth grade. He’s just ten times hotter.
You shake your head, letting the thought spill from your mind, as Satoru looks over.
“Jamoca?” he says, giving you a wide grin.
You can’t help but laugh, nodding as Satoru makes a sharp left turn, making his way to the ice cream shop.
Jamoca is your favorite ice cream flavor. Coffee, layered with fudge and almonds, became a proclaimed favorite when Satoru dragged you once in the sixth grade. After very sorely losing the class president battle, you moped in your room for five days - even going as far as borrowing one of Nanami’s My Chemical Romance vinyls to truly and properly mope.
On day three of blasting the vinyl, Satoru called enough and dragged you to the closest ice cream store, claiming it was the closest thing to therapy that you normies could afford. Since then, any bad day was easily solved with two things.
Jamoca and Satoru.
When you make it to the store, Satoru’s excitedly dragging you out of the car, his hand pressed in yours as you both run into the store, giggling while you order your single scoops. And when he drags you out to the curb and you sit there, you silently think to yourself why you ever stopped doing this in the first place.
Satoru leans over, digging his chocolate fudge covered spoon into your cup, before talking.
“So. If you guys fight so much, why are you still dating?”
“Dunno. Feels weird to initiate a breakup, I guess. I can’t see myself doing it.”
“Even when he wants other girls to be his sweetheart?”
“Even when he wants other girls to be his sweetheart.”
You kick the pebbles into the broken parts of the pavement, leaning your elbows on your knees.
“I don’t know, Toru. I guess he was just the first guy who ever liked me back and then I….spent so much time in the relationship and trying to make it work that it feels weird to let it go now.”
Satoru swallows hard, eyeing his melting ice cream, as he ponders the best response. Because in earnest, he has two options. Support you or be selfish. Support you to stay with Toji, to do what you’ve been doing because he knows it’s what you want. Or be selfish. Tell you that he you deserve better, that he could be that for you if you just let him.
He reaches over, flicking you in the forehead.
“Ouch, asshole.”
“You’ve got a really big brain in there. And you always have. You’ll figure out the right thing to do, just give it time.”
And when you give him a halfhearted smile, reaching over into his cup for a bite of his ice cream, he lets it go.
He can’t be selfish. Not when it comes to you anyways.
--
After running around all day, you give yourself thirty minutes to go to Satoru’s robotics thing. After triple checking the microphones work, the yearbook team has access to the field, the glitter has been set out for everyone trickling in, and that everyone who could possibly need your phone number has it, you speed run to the other side of campus, to the robotics lab.
And when you make it, the five of them - Haibara, Nanami, Shoko, Getou, and Satoru - are in the room playing Just Dance. Shoko’s sitting on top of the desk, flippantly moving her remote in the air, while Satoru quite literally is trying to give it all he’s got - and losing apparently.
You lightly push the door open, which stops the two of them in their tracks, and you’re met with some very excited cheers as they all drag you into the room. You take a seat next to Nanami, giving his cheek a pinch, which he hates.
“You’re Haibara, right?”
“You know who I am?”
“Why wouldn’t I? You’re friends with Nanami and Nanami and I are best friends.”
“No we aren’t.” responds Nanami, now sulking two seats away from you.
“Are too.”
You throw the nearest object, a pencil at Nanami, as you turn back to Haibara and laugh.
“I like your shirt. Flight of the Navigator is a really good movie.”
You see Satoru, Shoko, and Suguru’s eyes widen in the back at your words and hear a considerable amount of groaning from Nanami behind you. And after twenty minutes, you find out why.
Haibara really, really loves Flight of the Navigator. Almost too much. In earnest, you barely remember the movie - at most, maybe the weird little alien companion he has. But here Haibara is, reciting the cast, the directors, acting out the scenes and it’s clear to you that you’ve tapped into some monster they all keep hidden.
Luckily for you, Satoru comes to your rescue.
“Okay, Haibara. I’m going to steal her for you for some Just Dance.”
“I don’t Just Dance Satoru.”
“Oh yeah? You’re just saying that because you know you’re going to lose.”
You scoff, knowing exactly what he’s doing.
“As if, sweetheart. I distinctly remember you banning us from ever playing that game together after I beat you in the fifth grade.”
“You’re rusty. Maybe we’ll start with something easy. Like Rasputin.”
“I could do Rasputin in my sleep, bitch.”
“Prove it.”
You roll your eyes as you march over to the front, where they’re projecting the game onto the screen. And just for posterity’s sake, you take Satoru’s sunglasses from where they were flipped over on the desk and put them on, effectively blinding yourself from the screen.
And when the songs start, you can hear them all laughing behind you, Satoru and you hurling insults at each other as you dance on. And somewhere around the middle, you’re sure Satoru must be losing because he grabs your hands and suddenly he’s swinging you around in the air, his hands on your waist as you laugh.
And when you take your blindfold off and the song dies down, Satoru wins by five points.
“You asshole. You literally cheated, Satoru.”
“Did not. You’re just a sore loser, bitch.”
“You kiss your mom with that mouth?”
“Every night, sweetheart.”
You put the palm of your hand in his face as you push him away, moving to sit on the desk. He joins you, the two of you now watching Haibara and Nanami have a very one sided dance battle.
After forty-five minutes, Satoru’s phone buzzes three times and the smile on his face drops when he checks. You place your hand on his, squeezing twice before asking.
“You okay?”
“Huh. Oh, yeah. I-I think you should go to the field. Right now.”
“Wait, what? But you hate that kind of-”
He grabs your hand, dragging you out, as you both start running to the field. You keep asking as he pulls you on, getting almost no response and only a faster pace.
And when you reach the field, you catch just the end of it and the only thing grounding you to that moment is Satoru and Utahime, who was surely the one who had texted Satoru, holding onto your shoulders.
Salma, the cheerleader Toji picked to be his sweetheart, just asked him to homecoming during halftime. And he said yes.
Utahime squeezes your hand three times, a soft look in her eyes when she talks.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N. I just thought you would want to know and I wanted to tell you because you’ve been nothing but nice to me.”
You smile, moving into her open arms as you whisper a small thank you into her shoulder. She leaves, having to return to the color guard team waiting for her on the side, leaving you and Satoru standing on the pavement right by the field.
“Take you home?”
“Thanks, Toru.”
“You want Jamoca?”
“Not today.”
He nods, a hand on the small of your back, as he leads you to his car, even going as far as opening the door for you and letting you crack the windows while you drive back - which you know he hates.
At the first red light, he taps on the top of your head to get your attention.
“Penny for your thoughts?”
“Do you think there’s something wrong with me?”
“What? Of course, not. Toji is just an asshat who doesn’t see you for what you’re worth and-”
“No. No, no. Not like that. Do you think there’s something wrong with me because I’m not even the tiniest bit sad right now? I’m…relieved.”
Satoru looks over, the red front the traffic light flashing on your face, and a blank expression staring back at him.
“Of course, not. He’s a grade one idiot. Anyone in your position would feel that way, bunny.”
“I know. That’s true.”
“But?”
“Does this make me defective, Satoru? Like, maybe I just can’t like people that much or something and I was the problem.”
Satoru twiddles his thumbs on the steering wheel, pondering the same question he has been asking for the past few days. Encourage her or be selfish.
He can’t be selfish with you.
“Okay, Y/N. Close your eyes.”
“Huh?”
“Just do it.”
“Okay.”
He looks over, to find you eyelids fluttering shut, your face lit up by the streetlights outside.
“Now. Tell me about your dream guy, bunny.”
“What are you going on ab-”
“Just do it.”
You sigh, before thinking hard about his question.
“Someone I can be comfortable with. That’s my type. Like we can have fun together and play games but also being around them is comforting to me. Things might suck, but at least they are there to kind of pick me up at the end of the day. They’re nice to people and are surrounded by good company, because you are who you love and they try to be better each day.”
After finishing, you open your eyes to find Satoru staring at you, an all-knowing look on his face.
“Bunny?”
“Toru?”
“Does that sound anything like Toji to you?”
You slump back into your chair, sinking down.
“No.” you murmur.
“You aren’t defective. Well, maybe in the higher level cognitive thinking part because you clearly have some impaired decision making but-”
“Hey. Don’t be rude, asshole.”
“Get out of the car.”
You crane your head out the window to see you’re in fact not at your house, but at the ice cream store. And when he comes around to your side of the car, opening your door, he drags you out, the two of you eating you ice cream in the light of the dingy lamp outside the store.
--
You knock hard on your window, only stopping when Satoru looks up from his desk, dropping the pencil he was just scribbling with. You point to your walkie talkie, switching on the channel as he grabs his.
“Hi bunny. You look nice.”
“Thank you. Are you coming tonight?”
To homecoming. Because despite all odds and last night, you still have to go. And crown the homecoming king and queen since you’re the class president, which you’re sure will be Salma and Toji since the universe is very, very kind to you.
“I’m sorry. Haibara needed help designing something for next week.”
“Oh. Okay. I wish you were.”
“I wish I was too. His hardware is Flight of the Navigator themed so wish me luck.”
You laugh, giving him one last smile as he pulls the curtains to his window. And when you see his navy windows against the pane you’ve stared at him through for years, it only now occurs to you.
When he asked you to describe that last night, he unlocked something. Bringing it to your attention, to the forefront of your mind.
The person you were describing is him. You lift your walkie talkie to your mouth, press the button, and mention the words you forgot to say.
I love you.
And then you turn on your heel and drive yourself to the dance.
--
Satoru ponders it for thirty minutes.
Support her or be selfish. Support her or be selfish. Support her or be selfish.
Be fucking selfish.
Satoru gets up, dropping the hardware he was making for Haibara, and pulls out the first suit he can find. He grabs his walkie talkie off his desk, convinces Megumi to go beg your mom (who loves Megumi) for your walkie talkie, and then goes ninety on the freeway to get to the school on time.
He finds Nanami first, the glob of gel on his head somehow even worse than normal and sets his plan in motion.
“Nanami.”
“Please, for the love of god, not tod-”
“Go hand this to Y/N.”
Nanami and now Shoko are taking the walkie in their hands, flipping it over and inspecting it like they’re the fucking FBI. And more importantly, wasting time.
Three feet away, you’re standing by the punch table, counting how many balloons are on the ceiling. You reach three hundred and fifteen when you’re approached for the first time that night, by Nanami and Shoko.
“Nanami. What is going on with your hair? You can’t possibly need that much hair gel.”
“You would be shocked, Y/N.”
“That's what I said to him too. But this is for you.” Shoko says.
She hands you your walkie talkie, the silver glitter coming off on your hand, as you flip it over.
“Did you break into my house, Shoko?”
“No. But I’m guessing Satoru did. He ran in here five minutes ago and basically yelled at us to give it to you.”
They both shrug as they walk away and you look around, clutching the walkie talkie so hard in your hand you think you might break it. Satoru’s here.
And when you scan your eyes around the room, you see him at the front door, his eyes already fixed on yours. He’s smiling so big that it makes your heart squelch and suddenly you’re moving towards him. And as you both start walking (running) to each other, you can’t help but feel the anticipation of what’s coming.
Except that’s right when Toji stands in the middle of the two of you, his characteristic slimy, sneer on his face. He reaches for your hand first.
“Can we talk, Y/N?”
"No."
You shrug your hand off, pushing right past him, as you walk closer to Satoru. You can hear Toji shouting something at you, but you’re too tunnel visioned on Satoru to pay attention. And when you reach him, you’re both smiling so big at each other, that it makes your face hurt.
He lifts his walkie talkie to his mouth, talking first.
“Come in, bunny?”
“Loud and clear, Toru.”
“I love you.”
You can feel yourself smiling so big, so excited that you’re basically jumping on your toes, your walkie shaking in your hand.
“I love you.”
“Oh thank god. I was scared I was going to get a breaking and entering charge.”
You laugh, pulling him down by his tie and kissing him square on his face. And when he pulls away, ears pink and face red, you whisper against his lips.
“It was always going to be you. I belong with you.”
He smiles, that stupid smile you’ve stared at, loved for years and you can’t help but cheese, leaning forward to kiss him again.

Somewhere Four Hours Outside of Bell’s Creek, Texas
“Shit!” Ari hisses when he almost slips in the middle of trudging up the muddy hillside. It had been raining pretty much non-stop since he’d made it out of Dallas and it hadn’t shown any signs of slowing down.
But that hadn’t been enough to stop Ari Levinson – not today anyway. Today he was a man on a mission. And that mission involved a meeting with a very special woman. The very first love of his life, and he’d almost missed it.
What kind of son forgot about his own Mama’s birthday? Not him. Otherwise he would’ve never heard the end of it from Evelyn and Marcia.
He knew without having to call them that his sisters had already been by with their families earlier in the day. And the last thing he needed was them throwing a fit over his absence, no matter how justifiable it might’ve been.
The Bounty Hunter nearly stumbles again as he weaves his way through the numerous memorials and monuments. He tries to move carefully, doing his best not to disturb the tributes dedicated to others’ loved ones who’d all gone too soon, regardless of how much time they’d spent on this earth.
And his sweet Mama was no exception. She’d left him just shy of his 21st birthday. He’d been by her side, holding her hand as she took her last breaths. Which seemed only fitting since she’d been there holding him on the day he’d taken his first.
Cancer had done his Mama dirty. But while it had robbed her almost everything – her hair, her ability to walk, and ultimately her life – her fighting spirit had remained. Minerva “Minnie” Levinson had gone out swinging, leaving him behind to see after his two younger siblings.
A sixteen-year-old Evie had been so angry back then. So small, but so unbelievably pissed at the world. Meanwhile, sweet baby Marcie had clung to him so tight he’d damn near had a fight on his hands whenever he wanted to take a piss by himself for longer than two minutes. That ten-year-old might as well have been his second shadow.
He’d honestly had no idea just how much he missed her following behind him until he’d been deployed overseas during his first tour. But they'd needed the money and the benefits. And he’d needed an enemy – someone or something that could help him channel all of the rage and anger and hurt that had been simmering beneath the surface.
So he’d left them behind to help fight another man’s war. But not before entrusting his sisters’ care to his friend, Vicky Gunther. And at the time, the fact that she’d also been his highschool sweetheart had felt like an added bonus.
It hadn’t necessarily mattered that his mother had never been too crazy about the woman. But what had mattered was that the girls had someone he knew to look after them while he was out risking his life.
Ari’s grip tightens on the flowers in his hand as he finally finds himself nearing his Mama’s grave. Evie and Marcie had picked it out, all he’d done was sign off on the check. They’d assured him that it was exactly what she would’ve wanted, right down to the quote etched into the granite, which read: “Always keep them guessing.”
That had been Minnie Levinson’s favorite phrase whenever they pulled up in a new town. When you’d grown up being on the run, staying one step ahead of your opponent was an absolute must. Especially when that opponent happened to be your own damned father. Growing up the son of Rex Levinson meant always having to look over your shoulder.
Because you never knew where he might be lurking. He could be states away or, more likely, right around the goddamned corner. Waiting to strike when his poor, terror-stricken family least expected it.
So they’d had to learn to always expect it. Even now, the only reason Ari felt any peace was because his Daddy was currently enjoying an all-inclusive, taxpayer funded 15 year stay at the James Crabtree Correctional Center in Helena, Oklahoma.
Thankfully, Rex still had a few years left on his tab before society deemed his debt to them finally repaid in full. Once he was released, he’d deal with it then. But right now…
Now it was time to see about his Mama. And this chat that they were about to have was long overdue.
A smile finds its way to Ari’s lips once he’s finally standing in front of his mother’s memorial. He pauses briefly before crouching down to place the bouquet he’d brought with him next to the offerings left behind by other members of his family. Although he wasn’t surprised, he was happy to see that they’d all brought daylillies, which had been her favorite.
“Hey. Happy birthday, Mama.” Ari whispers, allowing his fingers to brush along the cool granite. “I made it. Just like I told you I would.” His eyes flutter closed as a light breeze blows by, gently ruffling his chestnut locks.
It was a sign from Minerva herself, letting him know that she was there with him too. Just like she said she would be. And his Mama had never been one to lie to him. Not even in death.
“I see the girls have already been here. I’m surprised they haven’t blown up my phone.” He stands then, grimacing when his left knee cracks as a result of the movement. It seemed like that old injury only bothered him when it rained. Shit sucked.
“I’m sure Evie brought by baby Micah for his first visit. He’s cute ain’t he? Little chubby-cheeked shit machine.” Ari chuckles at that, scrubbing a big hand over his heart. “And I’m not being rude. First time we met he had a blowout in his diaper that was so bad we both needed a shower.”
He laughs harder at the memory of him desperately trying to hand off his incredibly messy nephew to first his own Mama, and then his sister. They’d swerved him so fast, claiming that it was about damned time he learned how to change a diaper.
He’d been mighty pissed at the time. But even so, he and baby Micah had stomped off to the bathroom, determined to handle the stinky situation like a couple of real men. And when they’d emerged from said bathroom forty-five minutes later, they’d been the ones to have the last laugh.
Okay, not really. Micah’s mother, Evie, had been too busy napping on the couch to notice much of anything, her body buried beneath a sea of half folded laundry. And Marcia was playing Go Fish with their four-year-old niece Isobel. But Ari hadn’t allowed the lack of fanfare to take the wind out of their sails.
He’d just grabbed a bottle of milk from the fridge and retreated to his sister’s bedroom, intending to teach the kid about the importance of football until they’d both dozed off. And he still had the picture Evelyn had taken of them both that afternoon, fast asleep in the bed. The baby rocking a Dallas Cowboys onesie, and him wearing her lavender bathrobe.
“They were just jealous, Mama. There I was being a good uncle, bonding with my nephew, and they were playing paparazzi.” That breeze kicks up again, the smell of wet earth filling the air.
“But I’m sure you already know that. You were there. You saw everything. Those two were picking on me like they always do.” Ari pouts then, jamming his hands into his pockets. “There’s just something not right about those girls. Everytime I’m around ‘em, they pinch and poke and prod. Always asking if I’m seeing someone.”
“It’s annoying is what it is. Makes me feel like a damn pincushion or somethin’.” The Bounty Hunter grumbles, nudging a tiny weed with his foot. “How am I supposed to tell ‘em anything if I haven’t run it by you first? Especially when it’s…when it’s…” He trails off as he searches for the right word.
“Real.” He sucks in a breath as his head dips to his chest. “It’s real and it’s right and it’s new. It’s all those things, Mama. And I don’t know what to do with any of it because it’s like I spend half the damn time fightin’ with myself and the other is spent fightin’ her wanting to fly away on me.”
One hand leaves his pocket to rest on the back of his neck. “And I know what you’re probably thinking, Mama. But that ain’t the issue. This woman, my little Bird…she ain’t Vicky.” He rocks back on his heels, careful not to slip in the rain soaked grass.
“And I know you didn’t much care for Vicky. I already told you that I made a mistake with that one. I thought I was doing a good thing leaving the girls with her…” A harsh sigh leaves him as a fresh wave of bitterness rises in his throat. But he swallows it down, refusing to let it choke him.
Because there was more to be said about the woman in his life today. His woman. His sweet Bird.
“Bird is everything I thought Vicky was. But it’s more than that. She’s the best part about that godforsaken Bell’s Creek. And something tells me that she’s wading knee deep into a pile of shit with this fuck, Martin, and these assholes, the Prescotts. It’s all one big mess that I normally would be chompin' at the to get rid of…”
Ari’s head drops again as he prays for another gust of wind, wanting another sign from his Mama to let him know that she was still listening. He doesn’t speak again until he feels it on his skin. This time it’s a loving caress, a gentle reminder that he’s not alone.
How could he be when he had Minnie Levinson by his side?
“I haven’t had a single nightmare since I met her. I’m not saying I’m fixed or anything…” He shrugs his broad shoulders. “But maybe I’m not quite as broken as I thought I was. At least she sure doesn't seem to think so. She just tells me I am an ass.”
The sound of squirrels playing in a nearby tree is enough to distract him, albeit briefly. Once they settle down he quietly forges on.
“Ma, I swear this girl is really something special.” Ari whistles, running a hand over his beard. “Sweet, funny, absolutely gorgeous – and did I tell you she runs a bookstore? Can’t go and leave that part out now can I?”
By now the rain has stopped, with the sun finally beginning to emerge from behind the clouds. He welcomes the warmth it brings. His Mama deserved to enjoy a little sunshine on her special day.
“She – we fight like cats and dogs sometimes - my Bird and I. But that’s not really my fault. I mean I consider myself to be plenty damn agreeable with most things. But my woman…let’s just say I’ve met mules less stubborn than she is. But even so, it’s…it’s like I can’t get enough of her.”
Ari blows out a comforting breath before closing his eyes, his fingers going to the bridge of his nose. “She’s…she’s making me wanna stay. Got me wantin’ to plant roots and build her a house, complete with the white picket fence.”
“I’ve been lost since the moment I laid eyes on her, Mama. And nothing feels right unless I’m with her. When she’s not around it’s like I can’t think – I’m off balance and…” He swallows thickly. “Like even now, I’m here with you and there’s a part of me that is just itchin’ to get back in my truck and haul ass all the way back to Bell's Creek. I mean, I suppose I could’ve brought her with me.” He cocks his head to the side as the thought strikes him. “She would’ve come, but I couldn’t...”
Ari goes back to awkwardly bouncing on the balls of his feet. “I couldn’t bring her here because I needed to talk to you about her first. Introduce her properly so that I could tell you myself that I…” He swallows again, fighting the lump in his throat.
“I love her, Mama.”
There. He’d gone and said it. Not in his head. But out loud to the air. To the world. To his Mama.
“And that sweet little spitfire makes me work for it every day. I’m telling you right now that she needs a damn keeper. And I need her to keep me…balanced.”
A grin spreads across his features as he feels the weight he’s been carrying suddenly lift from his shoulders. “I’m gonna introduce her to the girls, okay Ma? I know they’ll love her like I do. But can you do me a favor and tell ‘em to be nice? You know they never do anything I say.”
Ari bends down to let his fingers graze over his mother’s headstone one last time. “And when the time is right, I’ll bring her here to meet you too.” He murmurs, wishing for a moment that they were actually speaking face to face instead of like this. But unfortunately, that couldn't be helped.
“Until then you rest easy, alright? Because me and the girls are doin’ just fine.” He takes a tentative step backwards. “I love you, Minnie Levinson. And I’ll be back to see you real soon.” Ari turns on his heel, preparing to navigate his way back to his truck.
Halfway through the maze he pulls out his phone, thumbing through his contacts until he lights upon your name. He taps the entry before holding the device to his ear. The sound of your voice on the other line is enough to ease the subtle ache in his chest. At least for now. But he also knew from experience that it wouldn’t go away until he had you in his arms again.
Just four measly, lonely hours until Ari Levinson felt whole again.

Moral of the Story. Chapter 21.
Word Count: 1900+
A/N:
Chapter Twenty-One:
It’s been 2 months since she had been back in California. The amount of phone calls and facetimes had tripled since the last time around. The well spent time in Brooklyn made it harder for her to continue on with her normal life.
With no bad relationships there any longer, the want to come back was stronger and more augmented than ever.
“What’s been going on with you lately?” Donna came in.
Donna was one of her co-founders. Someone she met in college and had helped grow this entire company with. She was also the cash mule when it came to building it. Without Donna’s family riches, they would have been about 100 steps behind where they started.
So to give the bullet points, Y/N was in charge of making the meetings and working with the clients to figure out their wants and needs and how they could better be efficient, but Donna was in charge of finances and final say on where their business went.
There were a few other people who were in the higher ups, but Y/N and Donna were the main head honchos.
“Going on with me?” Y/N shrugged, mindlessly clicking things on her computer while she slouched with her chin in her hand.
“Don’t act like it isn’t obvious,” Donna chuckled before sitting down in the seat in front of her desk. “You’re usually all business at work and I have to drag you away. Lately, you’ve been leaving at a reasonable time and seem to be making some boundaries.”
“Would you rather I didn’t?” Y/N countered, finally looking up with a smirk on her lips.
“You know what I mean,” Donna rolled her eyes playfully. “What’s going on?”
“I don’t know,” Y/N let out a big sigh. “I guess I’m just homesick after hanging out with old friends and my family after so long.”
“Went there for divorce papers and came back depressed after signing them. Explain how that works…” Her co worker stood and sat on the top of her desk. A casual conversation making its way into the atmosphere.
“It’s not even about the divorce papers,” Y/N’s cheeks flushed as she tried to avoid eye contact. “I just miss seeing my family as often.”
“Don’t believe the first half of that, but continue,” the dark haired woman nodded.
“There’s nothing more to say. I just miss being closer to my family. But we both know, we’re too young of a company to-”
“About that. I was actually coming in here to talk to you about a possible new business idea,” she cut her off.
“Ok, back to work I see,” Y/N chuckled, slightly lost at the immediate redirection from personal life to biz.
“Sorry, no,” Donna waved off. “It has to do with you and your family as well.”
“My family and the company go hand in hand?”
“Just shut up for a second and let me explain,” she hopped off her desk and moved around to the other side of the desk, leaning on Y/N’s side as she fell back in her chair ready for her proposal.
Y/N gave her the hand motion that showed her to continue.
“You know those business cards you handed out in the farmer’s market back in Brooklyn?”
“Yeah…”
“Well a few of the businesses got a hold of us and wanted to set up some consultations.”
“Oh, really? That’s great!”
“I know! But it’s a little more than just a consultation,” Donna explained, shrugging her shoulders as she crossed her arms. “It’s going to take more than a zoom call and what not. I want to see how their business runs and what resources they’re using everyday to get an idea of where they need help.”
“I can get that information,” Y/N turned to her computer, getting ready to send an email.
“No, no. You’re not getting it,” Donna shut her laptop and looked at her. “I think Brooklyn could be a great place to branch out into other communities.”
“Elaborate…” Y/N crossed her arms now and looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
“I know you think this company is young, and yes. Seven years isn’t a whole lot, but we also didn’t necessarily start from nothing.” Donna turned her body to her as she gestured with her hands while she talked. “You’ve said it yourself, with the help of my parents' donations to this brain child of ours, we are 100 steps further ahead than most usually are on something so ambitious.”
“I guess that’s not wrong.”
“I think it’s time we broaden our horizons.”
“All the way across the US? I mean, not that I’m against it, but wouldn’t a neighboring state be smarter and make more sense?” Y/N asked hesitantly.
“Brooklyn is a very well known city in a state that has very high pollution. I think we hit more of the places like that and we make a much bigger difference.”
“Well, yes, but-?”
“Y/N. Before you say anything, I’m trying to get you back home to your family and your challenging everything I’m saying.”
“It’s not that I don’t like the idea. Especially since it’ll help with my family distance issue, but this is a really big risk to take, I feel.”
“Starting this company was a big risk, yet here we are. One of the top eco friendly companies and growing,” she smiled at her knowingly.
Y/N thought about it. Since day one they had been taking risk. That’s what got them this far. That and connections. And Y/N had that in Brooklyn. She had connection after connection. And if she didn’t have one, she knew someone who did.
It would be a risk, yes, but it would also be monumental if they pulled this off. A city with as much pollution and trash as the New York area could always use a helpful hand in learning how to be more environmentally efficient and friendly.
“How long would you want me there?” Y/N asked.
“Well, I would say a few months to meet some of the clients and get a feel for their community and teams. More than one reached out so it’s not going to take just a little bit of time.” Donna stood up and walked to the window. “Would 3 months work for you?”
Three months back with her family and back to reconnect with her friends. It sounded like a dream. But then there was always the leaving part that she knew would come back to bite her.
“I can stay with my parents,” she agreed with a smile.
“Are you sure? We have enough we could hook you up with a rental or an airbnb for the time.”
“No need. If I do end up stir crazy, which I doubt will be the case, I’ll call and make arrangements. I’d rather save money where I can,” Y/N waved off.
“Alright, so we have a deal?” Donna beamed clapping her hands together.
“I think we struck a deal,” Y/N laughed.
“Great! I’ll get started on the paperwork and get Melody to have a list of clients that you can get in contact with,” her coworker smiled, walking toward the door.
“What about my job here? Who will cover the clients we already have?” Y/N stopped her.
“We will reassign them for the time being. Plus, most of your companies you work with are settled and may just reach out for updates and what not. If we really need your expertise on it, I’ll reach out. But Y/N,” she paused. “You’re a master when it comes to customer relations. I doubt you’ll have to worry about much going on here.”
“Thanks Donna,” Y/N smiled. “For everything.”
“I got you sis. We were friends before we were business partners. I just want to see you happy,” Donna winked before catching the door handle and making her exit. “I’ll email you everything to sign, and I’ll have my assistant work on the flights.”
____________________________
“That’s amazing Y/N!” Nat exclaimed as Y/N packed her second suitcase. “Oh, I want to head back home for a while. Maybe I can come crash with you guys for a week or so.”
“You know my family wouldn’t say no to that. And Steve, Wanda, Bucky, and Vision would all be happy about it too.”
“Three months… That’s quite a bit of time. How do you feel about leaving after that much time though?”
“Well… That was the other thing I wanted to talk to you about.”
“I’m listening,” Nat rested her temple on her knuckles as she leaned on the back of the chair in Y/N’s room, watching her stuff her toiletries in a bag.
“If all goes well, the trip might go longer. Could be multiple months but it all depends on the connections I make.”
“How many companies are you working with now?”
“Well about four people from the farmers market reached out, and they also said their business friends would be interested in having a meeting with me to discuss possible changes.”
“That’s wonderful!”
“Yeah, but I don’t want to get my hopes up too much. Right now I need to worry about the first three months and see how that goes,” Y/N shrugged, folding a jacket and tucking it in.
“You’re going to blow them away. I’ve yet to meet a person you haven’t been able to convince to be more earth conscious.”
“It’s more than just that. Their company has to be able to financially make the changes. Unfortunately it’s costly to be more eco friendly. But hopefully I can show them it’s worth it in the end.”
“True. But enough work-talk… Are you going to hang out with anyone while you’re over there?” Nat smirked.
“I told you, we don’t talk much,” Y/N rolled her eyes.
“Much. Which is a BIG step from 2 months ago.”
“He sends updates about my nephew and family more than anything.”
“But that’s something!”
“Very little of something,” Y/N chuckled shutting the now packed case and pushing on it to try and zip it.
While she struggled, Nat carried on her snooping.
“But you are going to hang out, hm? I mean after the whole cliche romance airport scene, you can’t NOT.”
“I’m sure we’re going to hang out. Yes,” she said annoyed, but also with a sense of a flutter in her chest. “But so are Steve, Sam, Wanda and Vision. We’re all friends.” She threw her suitcase to the ground and sat on it in an attempt to smush it down in space.
“But-”
“The only butt I need is yous on this suitcase to help me close it. Now get down here!” Y/N cut her off, and Nat rolled her eyes before smiling and helping.
“Mark my words, Y/L/N. I may not get anything out of you now, but the next three months are going to be hell for you and my phone calls.”
“I’m sure they are. Now zip it.”

summary you visit an exclusive brothel to satisfy your needs. cw smut, praise, humiliation, toy play, light choking, squirting word count 3.1k a/n i'm thinking of turning this into a smut series featuring different members of nct hehe! chap two three
It’s only when you’ve spent half the night burrowing your vibrator between your thighs and it decided to die right before you’ve reached your climax, that you decided to take up your colleague’s suggestion.
Fresh out of a break-up, you had moved to Seoul a few months back. The money here was better anyways and you wanted to forget all about your ex. All your highschool friends that had moved to Seoul always talked about how Seoul was the It-Place. Where the people were wild and parties were wilder. You thought you were finally going to find people that brought the much needed excitement and thrill you desired, particularly in your bedroom. Your ex-boyfriend, although your highschool sweetheart, wasn’t the best in bed and most of his attempts had left you feeling unsatisfied and yearning for more… fun.
Of course, nothing ever turned out the way you wanted and, now, six months into your stay in Seoul, you’ve never had anyone approach you, much less touch you. But when one of your colleagues-turned-friends caught wind of your little situation, she had casually introduced you to “just the place to get your needs sorted”.
So that’s how, at 2:38AM on a Saturday, you found yourself standing before an unassuming building, its exterior the same dark maroon bricks as the surrounding buildings with a panel of frosted glass doors facing you. The light from within shone into the street, illuminating the empty night, if not for the lingering drunkards from the parties before.
You glanced down at your phone, at an invitation message, as you took a moment to steel your resolve. You tried to push out the thoughts of doubt out of your head. In any case, if Hotel Paradise was exclusive enough to require an invitation by an existing member, then that must be a green flag, right?
You were immediately greeted by a bleach-blond haired lady when you walked through the doors. She looked neat and tidy, which calmed your anxieties about this being a sketchy brothel just a little.
“Welcome to Hotel Paradise, I’m Taeyeon, what can I do for you?” she said, with a perfected customer service smile.
You showed her your invitation message, and she made quick work in creating a membership for you in the system.
“Any requests for tonight?” she asked and gestured towards the plaques in front of you.
Your cheeks were quick to turn pink at her direct question. You glanced over at the plaques on the surface of the reception desk. Laminated behind plastic, they detailed a list of 20 boys, with photos and a short list of their strengths. Amidst your fluster, you quickly pointed at the first one that caught your attention. Jung Jaehyun, Toy Play, Praise and Humiliation.
“Okay,” she said as her freshly manicured fingers ran across her keyboard, “looks like he’s free currently. Is there anything else you’d like?”
You shook your head, mortified to share any more of your kinks with a stranger - kinks that you didn’t even share with your ex.
It took a moment before Taeyeon motioned you to go up the spiral stairs behind the counter. Second room to your left, she mentioned. You swallowed your saliva, before walking into the room.
The room was quite spacious, with egg-white paint coating the walls, a neatly made king-sized bed in the middle and a decent bathroom attached. If it wasn't for the row of sex toys placed on the table at the foot of the bed, you could have fooled anyone into thinking it was a room in any respectable hotel.
“My, my, what a lovely guest,” the man in the middle of the room came to greet you.
Immediately, you were captivated by his looks. You had picked him, for the most part, due to his photo. But looking at him in person was a whole other experience. His fluffy brown hair was carelessly tossed backwards with a few stray strands perfectly framing his face. His almond-shaped eyes were pressed into crescents and only god knew how hard you’d fall for his dazzling smile.
His hands reached over and removed the little shoulder bag that you had brought with you. And in a smooth motion, his arm slipped around your waist as he guided you to sit on the bed.  It was only now, sitting in front of Jaehyun, that you’d wished you had spent just a little more time in choosing a more appropriate outfit. In a rush to satisfy your needs and to save on laundry efforts, you had put on your office wear - a neat powder blue blouse tucked into wide legged black trousers - the same one that had worn to the office on Friday.
“Busy day, huh?” he asked, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear before resting his hand on your jawline.
You nodded; your cheeks flushed against his warm touch. Your attention was entirely drawn in by him and his effortless charm.
“I’ll reward you for working hard,” he said before gently kissing you.
His lips, soft and plump, pressed against yours softly, as if testing out the waters. Once, then twice. And another. When your arms wrapped around his neck and pulled him closer, his tongue skillfully parted your lips and darted into your mouth. He tasted like cool mint, and you caught a whiff of his sandalwood cologne. The intensity and fervour of the kiss only increased with each passing moment. Lust ignited a flame within you that spread across your body.
He used his body weight and pushed you down on the bed, with one knee between your legs to balance. His hand wandered around your body, caressing your breast, your waist and your butt before his fingers made quick work of your pants’ button and zipper. He slid the trousers off and, with a little kick from you, threw the pants across the room.
His lips then left yours for a moment, and it drew out a whine that you had never heard yourself make. It pleased him to hear your voice. You watched as a simple make out transformed the sweet and charming man into a lustful one. His once inviting smile morphed into a thirsty smirk, his lips were swollen, and his eyes burned with desire.
He left the bed for a moment, picking up your trousers and a small vibrator from the table before returning to you. He used the trousers as a makeshift rope to tie both your wrists to the bedpost and before dropping down between your legs.
“You look so pretty from down here,” he said as he placed the small vibrator against your clothed clit.
He moved it up and down, along your slit, taking in your moans of pleasure. He watched your every effort to push yourself closer to climax: how you’d buck your hips when the vibe hitted the right spot, how your moans got louder and less restrained and how your hands struggled against the bedpost.
“Please, please, please,” you cried out, “please let me cum- oh my god, I’m so close.”
Everything you did only pleased him further.
“You’re such a little slut, aren’t you?” He slid the vibrator away from your clit, “Already cumming for a stranger you’ve barely met?”
Your hips bucked and adjusted, hoping to feel the vibrator again, “Please, please.”
You whined and moaned but all he did was watch. His control was immaculate, he’d place the vibrator against your clit and just as you were about to cum, he’d take it off. Then he did it again. And again.
“Say it,” he said, “Let me hear it. What are you?”
A blush of mortification coloured your cheeks, no one had ever called you a slut.
“I’m…” You struggled to get the words out.
Jaehyun punished your hesitation by pushing the vibrator against your clit again.
You whined and were reminded of the reward at the end of the sentence, “I’m a slut. I’m a slut just for you.”
Pleased with your words and your desperation, Jaehyun finally let you cum, “That’s right, cum for me, slut. You’re such a good slut for me.”
He watched as the ecstasy ebbed through your body, your hips bucking high before crashing down against the bed, your fingers digging into your palms and your lips carelessly spewing out ‘thank you’s and ‘oh my god’s.
“That felt good, right?”
You nodded, albeit a little tired from that singular orgasm. It’s not an exaggeration to say that no one had made you feel the way his touch did. Forcing you to brand yourself as a slut sparked a new thrill for yourself. Everything he did only drew you into his lust-driven heaven.
He let you rest for a brief moment, as he swapped out the small vibrator for a vibrating dildo this time.
Watching Jaehyun put the dildo in his hands, you perked up with more energy.
By now, your cotton panties had been drenched in your juices. So, Jaehyun slipped them off to reveal your pussy. It’s been awhile since you’ve shaved, it wasn’t like you had anyone to show them to. This was an impromptu decision you had made. You immediately shut your legs up together, hiding them in embarrassment.
Jaehyun responded by softly prying your legs open, “no need for shyness now, kitten.”
His words were charming and comforting, which gave you just that little boost of confidence that you had needed. You opened your legs again.
This time, a newfound hunger engulfed Jaehyun at the sight of your glistening core.
He was quick to abandon his initial plan, lowering himself between your legs before burying himself into your thighs. Like a parched lion, his tongue was quick to lap up your juices.
“Fuck, you taste so good,” he mumbled against your core, the vibration created a new sensation and drew out a soft mewl from you.
His tongue moved skillfully, each motion methodical and purposeful. He alternated between licking up and down your wet heat and swirling his tongue around your swollen clit. Either way, your head was dizzy with arousal. Your hips grinded against his face, searching for another release. Explicit words mixed with his name and your pleas carelessly tumbled out of your lips. Try as you might, you could barely contain your voice.
You hadn’t noticed it, but in the midst of your pleasure, Jaehyun had managed to push a singular finger into your core. His initial finger worked slower than his mouth, it’s only when a second finger thrusted into you that you felt him. The new sensation added to the maddening haze.
“I’m gonna cum,” you whined, your body stiffening in anticipation.
“Cum,” his command was firm, “cum for me, my pretty little slut.”
The release was instantaneous, arousal flooded your system and your entire body quaked with pleasure. You almost saw white with that release. Your body heaved with a singular motion, crashing down into the bed. But Jaehyun didn’t let you rest; he was quick to replace his fingers with the vibrating dildo that he had chosen previously. A gasp escaped your lips, feeling yourself stretch around the foreign object. He turned it out and began pumping it into you. He ignored your pleas, revelling in the dishevelled sight of you. Office drone turned into a moaning mess. A twisted pleasure coursed through your body, a tinge of pain from sensitivity mixed with the dildo drilling into your g-spot. You begged him to stop, he didn’t. Your body buckled under the overstimulation; you were sure you were going to die if he didn’t stop.
You caught a glimpse of his wicked smirk, taking pride in his work.
Then, you fell from the cusp of your pleasure. A stream of clear liquid squirted from between your legs and onto Jaehyun’s face. Your eyes widened when you came to it, the first time that you had ever squirted. The pink flush on your cheeks reddened with more embarrassment. But before you had the time to apologise and explain that you didn’t intend on squirting all over him, he spoke first.
“Look at you, squirting all over me,” Jaehyun said, discarding the dildo, “I barely did anything, you know.”
His velvety voice sent shivers down your spine. Your humiliation grew under the weight of his words, and the truth of the situation. He was a stranger that you’ve barely met, and here you were cumming so easily at his every touch. His eyes, filled with great desire, burned into yours, and that thrill you felt under his gaze only further cemented the truth. You were acting like a complete slut for him.
You watched as he removed his jeans, then boxers. The sight of his member had your mouth salivating over it. You didn’t know you were such a slut. You could feel the growing heat between your legs as your mind conjured up images of his dick drilling into you. A foreign desire to just let him devour you arose. A strange impatience took over your mind whilst watching him slip on a condom.
“Why?” he crawled back on the bed, hovering over your body, “Like what you see?”
He didn’t wait for your reply, instead choosing to immediately thrust into you. A loud gasp escaped your throat. He felt bigger than you’d imagined. You were sure that he would split your body in half if he was any bigger and was grateful that he gave you a moment to adjust to his size.
“Fuck, you’re so tight,” he growled. He adjusted himself, with one hand holding on to the bedframe for balance, and the other rested around your neck.
“Stop giving me such erotic looks, whore,” a twisted grin spread across his handsome face, “it only makes me want to mess you up even more.”
His hips moved with practiced ease, each thrust deep and impactful and drew out loud gasps from you. He started rocking his hips quicker and sloppier, his hand tightening along the sides of your neck. You’ve never been choked before, but that new stimulation drove you crazy. The slight almost-drunk dizziness from the asphyxiation only intensified every one of Jaehyun’s thrust.
“Oh?” he panted out with amusement, “You like getting choked, don’t you?”
He watched as your eyes rolled back and how your face scrunched with pleasure under his touch. The constant stream of melody that was your voice devolved from words and pleas into incoherent mewls and moans.
“You’re squeezing me so tight. Expected nothing less from my favourite slut.”
His hips moved with increasing impatience, as the both of you chased the highs of an orgasm. His grip on your neck only tightened, drawing small crescents into your skin. He grunted and groaned with less of the control he seemed to have.
“You look so fucking beautiful,” he said and you doubted, with what little sanity remained within you.
Your hair was completely messed up, from your constant squirming. The baby hair along your hairline had been stuck on your face with your sweat. You’re pretty certain your make-up - just a touch of eyeliner and nude lipstick - had all been smudged by sweat and tears. If anything, you’re sure you looked like a messed-up whore.
Still, Jaehyun leaned down and connected your lips with fervour. His warm tongue darted quickly between your lips and danced with yours, sucking and twirling your tongue. His thrusts didn’t slow down, and instead continuously rammed into your sweet little spot.
At this moment, you were completely intoxicated by his touches. He studied you well though, knowing that you were on the edge of your orgasm.
“Aw, are you about to cum?” he said with mocking sympathy, “You’re gonna cum on a stranger’s dick?”
You felt your ears turn red at his questions. The shame and guilt all twisting into a strange pleasure. You weren’t used to this, but you craved it more.
“I’ll allow it,” he said, “you look so pretty cumming. Cum for me, slut.”
There’s a disconnect between his words, a sort-of whiplash. One moment he called you pretty, another he was completely condescending. And yet, you liked it. You liked being his little slut. You liked looking pretty for him. And most of all, you liked obeying him.
That desire to obey, however, fell short of Jaehyun’s expectations. A twisted anger filling his eyes as his hand punished your neck with an even tighter grip - you were barely gasping for air at this point.
“I said, cum for me,” he growled before spitting in your face.
The warm spit against your cheek swirled with the hypnotising haze of being choked and gave you the push you need to slip into a mindblowing orgasm. Your entire body spasmed in pleasure as desperate moans left your lips. Your toes curled tight, and your fingers scratched the bedpost. The orgasm lasted a solid a few seconds, but the waves of oxytocin still washed over you as you basked in the afterglow, serving as minor orgasms.
But Jaehyun wasn’t a man of patience, especially not when you laid under him, completely writhing with pleasure with a look of complete daze. Your still-spasming core squeezed his dick tight and coupled with a few sloppy thrusts were enough to send him into an orgasm as well.
He moaned and stiffened, his orgasm translated into deep and impactful thrusts as he rode out his orgasm. Your body was at a complete subservience to his orgasm, with Jaehyun not caring about your verbal protests from the overstimulation nor the way your hips and legs were shaking.
It took him a few moments, before he came crashing down on the bed next to you panting. The lust-driven demon seemed to disappear at an instance as a sweet smile replaced his previous smirk.
“Satisfied?”
You nodded shyly. He helped you out of the makeshift knot, finally freeing you. Your wrists were left with red marks, to which he apologised with a dimpled smile.
“It’s fine,” you assured him, “I… liked it.”
After all, your wrists would be evidence of this experience.
Later on, he was quick to attend to your every need - bringing you water, tissues to clean up, and a fresh set of bathrobes - and insisted that you sleep in the room, at least until the sun was up, promising to not touch you unless you wanted him to. You almost let yourself be deluded into thinking that this was anything but professionalism from a staff of Hotel Paradise.
In the morning, before you left for home, Jaehyun parted with words that would haunt you for the week to come.
“I hope to see you again. I really do.”

Early morning muffled giggles, and the pitter patter of feet make Ransom stir in his sleep. His face burrows deeper into the pastel pink ruffles. Feet hanging off the edge of the bed, but his eyes remain close.
“Daddy,” a giggly voice echoes in the hallway as she covers her mouth with her hand. “Uncle Ranny is in my bed again.”
“Is he,” the big beefy man picks up his littlest daughter, throwing her in the air. “Why are you sitting in the hallway?”
“Because,” she points a finger to her bedroom before covering her mouth with her hand. “I think he has twinkle toes!”
“Not the twinkle toes! Why weren’t you in your bed last night?”
“Uhh,” she draws out, shrugging her shoulders. Usually she didn’t sleep in her room on nights before her parents had to go to the hospital. “I — daddy, I slept in Maevey’s room. And then I wake up to go play, and Uncle Ranny is drooling on my satin!”
“Oh, dear. Let’s wake Mr. Twinkle Toes up, okay?” She responds with an okay, nodding her head while he walks into the room. Ransom let’s out a loud snore, hugging onto one of the little girl’s Squishmallows, and she giggles again.
“Ransom,” her father says, but Ransom snores lower. “Ransom!” He kicks the bed, and Ransom shoots up immediately, groaning before flopping back down on the bed. “You’re drooling on the princess’ pillow.”
“Yeah! That’s my pillow. Why do you always sleep in my bed when you have twinkle toes.”
“I don’t have twinkle toes,” Ransom harrumphs, flipping over to his side. He hugs tighter to her stuffed animal, giving her a peek. “Why are you up so early?”
“You do have twinkle toes! You always drool with twinkle toes!”
“Charlie, baby, I,” he stops talking looking at his best friend and teammate before nodding his head, “Yes, princess, I had twinkle toes, and pranced right in here. I’m sorry, but I’ll buy you a new squishy thing,” Bucky clears his throat, and shakes his head. “I’ll buy you something.”
“Ahh! Daddy, I need to see Maevey. Put me down,” she wiggles out of her daddy’s arms before darting towards her sister’s room.
Bucky gives a long look to Ransom before leaning up against his daughter’s dresser. “Yeah, I had twinkle toes, which by the way, why does your wife call it that?”
“Next time we’ll tell the kids you got shit faced, and stumbled into our house because you used my kids as an excuse to call a cab for some girl of the night,” rolling his eyes, Ransom turns his back to Bucky. “You deserve more than one night stands. Ones you can look at without your beer goggles.”
“Not all of us are cut out to marry our highschool sweethearts.”
“You think it was easy for us?” Bucky sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “She had Maeve when she was sixteen. Pregnant when she was fifteen, and yeah, we struggled and made it work. But you…”
“Grew up in a life of privilege. I didn’t buy my way into the NFL. I worked hard to get there,” Bucky sighs, watching his friend. It had become a frequent pattern with Ransom coming to his house to hide from his problems. The extra help with the kids was nice, but Ransom wasn’t living his life.
“Didn’t say you did. I’m saying those kids love you, and you adore them. You’re worth more than being a fake uncle,” yawning Ransom turns to look at Bucky with an unreadable face. There is zero emotions on his face as he looks at his friend. “There’s going to be some woman who the kids love, and she’s going to send you on a whirlwind. You two are going to fall so hard for each other.”
“Why are you in here, Buck?” He responds pitifully. Ransom was never much into love. It was a made up word that very few could ever hold in their hands. They made excuses and claimed they loved or were in love, but people always disappoint you.
“You’re in my house, and in my daughter’s bed. But Nixon has an appointment. We’re staying overnight, and the girls would rather…”
“You don't have to ask. I don’t want them with anyone else anyways. They’re the only women in my life that don’t make my life a living hell,” Charlie’s bedroom door squeaks open, and the little girl runs onto Ransom’s lap, while the oldest bashfully walks in. She looks at her dad before back at Ransom.
The tall man looks towards the teenager, narrowing his eyes, and pursing his lips. He’s seen this look more than once in his life. “What do you want, Maeve?”
“So, you know my favorite artist right?” Her voice is nearly a whisper. Almost embarrassed to ask Ransom this.
“Picasso?”
“No, recording artist,” she giggles, shaking her head. She whispers out your name, and looks back at her father quickly. “Umm, she’s playing Gillette tonight. Mom already said we could go, but…”
“Who is that?” Ransom asks, confused. “She…what do you mean she’s playing Gillette?”
“Well, she is the number one artist in the world right now. She’s doing this stadium tour, and she’s going to be here for a few days. I think the itinerary I got online is correct. I know you can’t always believe everything you see on the internet, but I really want to go. Charlie likes her, too,” her little sister nods her head, and whispers into Ransom’s ear about how pretty you are. “It would mean everything to me.”
“Maevey, if she’s as big as you say she is, I might not be able to get us in,” there was only one way he could get the girls in, and he really didn’t want to go down that road again.
“You’re literally the starting tight end of the Patriots,” Maeve wasn’t going to give up without a bit of a fight.
“Your dad is the quarterback.”
“And didn’t you date some…”
“Ahh! I didn’t date her! No, absolutely not,” Ransom decides quickly he isn’t going to ask his ex about tickets to one of the biggest concerts of the year. But then the littlest girl looks up at him, sweetly asking pretty please with a cherry on top, and he can’t say no.
Tumblr media
You bite at your lip, getting a little slap on your wrist by your makeup artist. She hates when you ruin her work. Your lipstick was already on, and now she has to go back and fix it. Staring at yourself in the mirror, you hardly recognize that girl anymore. She’d been through hell recently. Bad breakups are never easy. Worse when the world can watch.
Sighing, you look towards the door. There is always something that bothers you about this talk show. She was invasive, and played up what the tabloids said. You couldn’t keep a man. You just date around to write songs. You were seeing just how many notches you could get. It was insulting.
You are sure you’re not the only woman in the world to date or date around. What you did just was viewed by the world. Growing up in front of the camera may not be ideal, but you didn’t know anything else. This life was all you knew. It gave you the world, while also taking away so much. You loved it, and feared it. You welcomed it, and also wished you could turn it off sometimes. There was never a break.
Someone knocks on the door, and whispers out your name, letting you know it was time to go on to the set of Leslie Locke. Your team always wanted you to put in a good face for this show. It was fun, and the fans enjoyed it, but too bad the press enjoyed your humiliation more.
You squint from the lights as you walk onto set, greeted halfway by Leslie when you take a seat in a chair opposite her. Her blue eyes give you a strange look, and you look out to the audience awkwardly. She was up to something. You just knew it, but what is the question?
“So you had a pretty rough start to the year,” you smile at her, and give her a nod. She was already starting in on you and your relationship. “But the good thing is I’m sure you got some good songs out of it, right?”
“I’d say most writers use their life experiences to tell a story. How is it any different than a writer of a book?” Leslie isn’t used to you snapping back. With age comes a need to protect your peace. Her mouth goes tight as she looks at the camera and then back at you.
“But aren’t authors embellishing the story?” With the breakup came a new realization that you had the power and voice. You didn’t need someone to protect you. You could do it yourself. “We all embellish. Even when I talk to my girlfriends, I’m embellishing the story.”
“So you admit that you use your songs to make yourself look better in the breakup?” She always twisted your words. It was her schtick. You smile, shaking your head no, but have no intentions of elaborating. It wasn’t worth the argument.
“Well, I want to play a game with you,” oh good grief. She loved these stupid games. “Since you’re back on the market, I thought it would be fun to show you some single men,” you turn to look towards one of the cameras with a deadpan look. “No, this will be fun. They’re hot men, just not your usual type.”
“Okay, fine,” you sigh, knowing that it would be easier just to agree.
“Good, good,” she holds up the first picture, and you roll your eyes, shaking your head rapidly. “What’s wrong with Dayton White?”
“I don’t date race car drivers.”
“You mean you haven’t, but you could?” This is a hard no. You wouldn’t date him. “Okay, what about this guy? Big, tall, buff, and he’s a boxer,” you wait a moment for her to give you a name. “This is August Walker.”
“I don’t like the mustache. I like mean without too much going on with their face. Clean cut, ya know?”
“Well, that leaves out these two. Okay, so he’s a football player,” you scrunch up your nose, already looking disgusted. Why would you date a football player? “He’s 6’5”, tight end for the New England Patriots,” not interested. “Blue eyes, all of 265 pounds of man, and a bit of a wild card,” your ears perk up because of course they do. You love those men that have that slight toxicity. They are your weakness. And you hate it.
“Completely baby faced, and he does love going out,” please be ugly. Please be ugly. “You have no idea who Ransom Drysdale is, huh?”
“Ransom?” She flips the card over showing you what he looks like, and you’re a goner. “Oh,” you stutter, trying to look away from his face. “Oh, he’s kinda cute,” the fact that he was holding a small little girl, while hugging another. It made him even more attractive, if his angelic face wasn’t enough.
“Kinda? That is one hell of a man,” yeah, he was. You can’t even imagine how big he would be next to you.
“He’s got kids?” They were adorable little girls. You didn’t think you wanted to date someone with kids, but he could be worth it. You had never dated someone with kids. No, it didn’t matter anyways. You weren’t going to date this man. You were going to look him up. Maybe check out a few pictures of him.
“No, these are his teammate Bucky Barnes’ daughters. He’s very close with the quarterback on the team,” sure he was. He didn’t have kids, that was better. You loved kids, but weren't ready for that. But him being good with kids is a good quality. “You have no idea what the QB does, huh?”
“He throws the ball? Catches it? Tackles?”
“Football isn’t your thing, I see,” she didn’t even answer the question. Fine, you made a public declaration of finding him attractive. Great. You can already see the tabloids writing some stupid nonsense. He is cute though. And somehow loving kids that aren’t his is making him more attractive. It shows he could be a father, but was smart enough to prevent it. Ugh, you can’t be thinking about things like this. You just know his name. But a name is a start. No! Not this one. You will not fall into this trap again.

Maeve plops down on the couch, sighing as she looks out the window. Ransom was running late, and that only meant one thing. She wasn’t going to the concert tonight.
“Maevey!” Charlie says, bouncing on her older sister’s lap. “Don’t be sad. Uncle Ranny is watching us tonight, and she’ll be at Gillette tomorrow night, too. Can we make bracelets again?” Maeve wants to say no, until she sees her sister’s dark green eyes pleading up at her. “Pretty please?”
“Fine, go get the stuff. I’m sure Ran will just have pizza delivered. And…we’ll watch her interview on Leslie Locke’s today,” it wasn’t the same as actually seeing you in concert, but it would be fine. Maybe you’d talk about some upcoming music. Maybe you’d talk about a new project.
Charlie runs into her room to grab up her beads and elastic. Anything to play and spend time with her big sister. Bringing it back with the biggest smile on her face.
By the time Ransom walks into the house, he gives Maeve a regretful smile, shaking his head, “Maeve, I did try. Me and Candy didn’t end well, so I didn’t think she would help me out. And hey, your dad is the QB, shouldn’t he be able to help?”
“They’re sold out,” her voice is flat as she returns to stringing on a bead. “She’ll be on Leslie’s soon.”
“Leslie Locke’s?” Ransom groans, sitting on the floor with the girls. “All that woman wants to do is hook people up with another celebrity. She’s obnoxious, but she asks questions that nobody wants to ask. You guys really watch that trash?” Maeve shrugs her shoulders, adding another bead to her current bracelet. “What is this?”
“I love friendship bracelets! Here, Uncle Ranny, you start one. You gonna get twinkle toes this weekend?” Snorting, he shakes his head no. Giving a groan when the Leslie Locke theme song plays in the background. It is like he was getting irritated by just the thought of having to hear her voice. “I like when you get twinkle toes. It means we’re going to wake up with you here.”
“I’m here now to watch you because,” he pauses, looking up at Charlie whose eyes darken a moment. “Nixon will be okay. They think there’s a new…”
“Ran, don’t,” Maeve pulls Charlie over into her lap, giving her tiny sister a kiss on the head. “He’s going to be okay, sissy.”
“Of course he is, princess. Nixie boy is going to be so strong, and going to be the best linebacker that the east coast has ever seen,” reaching out his hand, he gives the little girl a tap to her nose, “I promise, Nixon will be okay.”
“Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. Hey, look! Maevey! There she is. Oh, she’s so pretty, huh, Uncle Ranny?” Both girls turn to look towards Ransom, and he is only staring at you as you wave to the camera. Giving the audience the prettiest smile. He’s notices the fake smile you give Leslie. He’s done it a few times.
“What do you think?” Maeve leans towards him, bumping his shoulder. “You have just as much chance as those normal people. But she has this tendency to,” Maeve’s words turn into mush as Ransom watches you. He hadn’t ever seen anyone more beautiful. He isn’t sure why he hadn’t ever thought to look you up. Especially when there was the rumor you would be singing at the Super Bowl.
Your fake little giggle as you look at Leslie is even adorable. He isn’t paying attention to whatever little game Leslie is playing with you until Charlie sees it.
“That’s me!” Charlie shouts, jumping out of her sister’s lap. “That’s me! Maevey, she’s looking at us.”
“Oh, my god,” Maeve chokes out, hearing you mention how Ransom was cute. “Oh my god! She’s seen my face. She…she’s — Ransom, do you understand what this means?” Ransom can’t think of anything other than the fact that you are staring at a picture of him.
“I have an idea. Ran, I have — Ransom Drysdale! She’s going to be at the children’s hospital before her concert. Ransom! Ransom, pay attention to me.”
You thought he was cute. You smiled a genuine smile looking at him. His phone hadn’t rang. Leslie wasn’t trying to put her meddling nose where it didn’t belong. He could call his people, and get them to call your people. This could work. One date. One night.
“Ransom!”
“What?” He asks, finally looking at Maeve.
“I have an idea, and you won’t have to get anyone’s teams involved. It would just be you and her. It’s perfect, and she loves simple things. She loves little sneaks. And I think she kinda liked the idea that you don’t have kids, but you’re around them. Ran, I know what we need to do.”
Tumblr media
Performing was the easy part of your career. Having moments to tell your stories with a guitar in your hand. Nothing else matters. Just you and the movement of the lyrics. Looking up to see the children’s faces makes you smile.
You wanted a family. One day you would have some of your own. Even though you’re sealed up in a studio alone, this is one of your favorite crowds to perform for. Big beaming smiles as they hang on to every word that you say. They always called you powerful, but they were the powerful ones. Always able to have a smile on their face.
Smiling despite whatever was going on in their lives. Enjoying life regardless of what their diagnoses were. Simple. Peaceful. Looking back down at your guitar, you close your eyes for a moment, and just feel the music. Everyone always had something going on in their life. Money couldn’t buy you everything. Definitely couldn’t make bad stuff from happening to you.
Opening them back up, you look out into the small audience and choke. Having to look away from the handsome man that was standing in front of you. You had only just seen him in a photo recently, and there he was. It was like the clouds had opened up, and the sun shone right on him. His blue shirt setting off his eyes even more. And those jeans made his legs look days long. He is staying casual, even a brand new pair of Nikes on. He wasn’t even remotely your type, and still you feel drawn to him.
“Uncle Ranny she saw you,” Ransom shakes his head no. He imagined the crack in your voice when you looked up at him. He has to hold Charlie up, so she could actually see over the crowd in front, and Maeve leans over on his shoulder. “Yeah huh. She did. Or it was me.”
“It was definitely you,” Ransom responds without looking away from you. You looked delicate in that room all by yourself. Strumming on a guitar and peaceful. He didn’t have the best reputation in the NFL. The reputation of a perpetual playboy. Love them and leave them, so if you wanted to even talk to him, you would have to accept that. And from what research he did on you, any male in your vicinity was automatically your Prince Charming.
Two people from very different careers, and rumors that ruled your careers just as much as your talent. The rumors aren't always true. Some nights Ransom doesn’t even go home with those women. He crawls into a tiny little twin sized princess bed with pink ruffles. The tabloids could write what they wanted to. But this — this is an intimate setting, and he’s never seen anyone more beautiful than you.
You might not realize it, but you look at each child that is watching you perform. Giving them a moment of joy. There are no cameras, and nobody to see what you’re doing but these kids and family. And then he realizes he must look like the biggest asshole because he was here.
“We should go,” he whispers, and he swears he sees you shake your head no. Could you read lips, and were you asking him not to go?
“No, we can’t,” Maeve whispers, her eyes staying on you the entire time. “You have to give her what you made.”
“Maeve, this is silly,” she gives her quasi uncle a quick pinch on his forearm. Something she’s done most of her life. Her silent way of letting him know that she wasn’t going to change her mind, she needs to see this through. “I can just get…”
“She doesn’t like setups like that. She wants things to be organic.”
“I showed up at the children’s hospital to see her,” and saying it out loud sounds even more absurd than it felt. He was crossing a line by coming here.
“You are just bringing us to our parents, so we can check on our little brother because he’s going to have another surgery. This is as random as you can get,” Maeve’s words stop in her mouth as you smile at the three of them. Your eyes looking back to the kids in the front. You aren’t sure why they are there, but you aren’t entirely upset about it either.
He looks more handsome in person. And the way those girls are so comfortable with him. A quick Google search told you how close he was with his QB. How he spent a ton of free time with him, and his kids. You hope that they linger. You always want to give time to everyone before they are shuffled back into their room. Hoping a smile towards them, and holding up a finger, asking them to give you a minute will be enough.
You know it isn’t going to be long before you are going to be ushered away in preparation for the show. Taking a deep breath, you go to hug each and every one of them. Watching your PA from the side who is constantly checking on the time. Hopefully Ransom and his nieces understood it wasn’t being rude. She was always conscious of your time.
As soon as the last person is pulled away from your side, you stand up straight to look at Ransom with whatever smile your social battery will allow. Your PA says your name, and motions you with her head it was time to leave, “Give me ten more minutes?” She looks at Ransom and the girls, and holds up her whole hand. Five minutes was better than nothing.
“So,” you huff out walking towards them. Having to gulp when you realize just how massive Ransom is. No wonder the little girl looked tiny in his arms. “Uh,” you giggle, not knowing exactly what to say. “I’m sorry.”
“My brother is here,” the oldest girl blurts out, and pulls at Ransom’s arm. “He has something for you.”
“No, I don’t.”
“Yes. You do. He’s on the Pats. He tried to get tickets to your show last night, but they were sold out. I’ve always wanted to see you. I’m your biggest fan. My little sister, Charlotte, loves you, too. She’s just four, so she doesn’t understand all the lyrics. But I do. I love how you kinda tease your fans, and give us little Easter eggs in anticipation for your next album, or sneak things into your videos. It’s so cool,” panicking she looks up at Ransom. Realizing she had word vomited all of that to you. This wasn’t how she imagined meeting you would go.
“Maevey, breathe,” the little girl giggles, before hiding her face on Ransom.
“She talks a lot when she’s nervous,” Maeve gives him a pinch to his arm, and if you weren’t standing right in front of him, laughing a tiny bit, he wouldn’t do what he was about to do. “I did try.”
“Well, what if I told you that I have a few extra tickets to the show. I always ask for a box at these stadium shows to stay empty for me just in case. It’s still empty,” both the girls squeal, and Maeve tugs on Ransom’s arm a bit. “I should probably go, honestly. But…I’ll have my people call yours?”
“Uhh…where is,” You point over to a few hidden areas in the hospital. You had people everywhere. He’s sure most are for security. But still one could figure out what it was Ransom needed to do to get to the stadium. Maeve gives him another pinch to his arm, and he grunts as you start to turn around.
“Uh, me and the girls, we uh — we made you something.”
“That’s adorable,” you preen, looking between both of the girls. Ransom reaches his giant hand into his pocket, and pulls out a crude bracelet.
“We made friendship bracelets last night instead of watching your concert. I just brought them here to see their parents and baby brother.”
“This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me,” you’ve had sweet things given to you. But there is something about envisioning this man on the floor with two girls, and making a bracelets with those thick fingers. “Thank you. Honestly, I want to see you guys in the box tonight. Jared will get you all the info that you need.”
“Yes. Yes, you will. Ransom has nothing to do. Nothing at all,” you liked the teenager with him. Even when nervous, she still said what she thought.
Ransom sighs as you walk away. Thankful you hadn’t looked at what the bracelet said while you were in front of him. He could breathe again, but you couldn’t. Walking with your PA, your fingers play with the bracelet until you are helped into your car.
“June, he’s so hot. Like hot hot obviously. He’s so big and wide, and the way he delicately held Charlotte? Oh my god. That was the sweetest thing, and I need them at the show tonight.”
“Don’t let him be a distraction.”
“I won’t,” you roll your eyes, finally giving the bracelet a look. He was smooth. You stuff it back in your pocket. Smiling from ear to ear, and knowing that when you go alone, you were going to pick up your phone, and make sure that he had your number, too.

adore you
pairing: jack hughes x fem!reader
warnings: profanity
summary: jack has it down bad for you and you can’t seem to see that
a/n: sorry it’s taken me so long to publish this & for the sake of the fic, your fictionally older brother’s name is ryan
series masterlist: here
i get so lost inside your eyes / i’d walk through fire for you / lately you’ve been on my mind
Tumblr media
it started when you & jack were both six.
***
you were in your front yard with your older brother and the two of you were playing hide and seek and it was his turn to count. you had the genius idea to hide in a tree because, why not? however, what you didn’t think about was how you’d get down.
“ready or not, here i come!” you hear ryan shout from the front porch. about five minutes pass and you think he won’t find you until you hear his voice.
“i see you y/n!” you look down below you and low and behold, your brother’s standing there with a shit-eating grin on his face.
“i don’t like you at all.” you pout and he laughs
“come on, it’s your turn to count.” you sigh dramatically and try your best to climb back down the tree. however, that plan seems to fail, and you fall out the tree onto your arm. a sharp pain shoots through your wrist and it has you immediately crying. ryan runs inside to go get your dad as you sit on the grass holding your hurting wrist.
a hand then outstretches itself to you and you look up and see a brunette boy smiling at you. he has one of his front teeth missing. you give him your hand that’s not hurting and he helps you up.
“what’s your name?” you sniffle and his smile grows
“i’m jack. i just moved in next door.” jack thought you were the prettiest girl his little six year old eyes had ever laid themselves on. and you, of course, thought boys still carried cooties.
“y/n, sweetheart, let’s get you to a hospital.” both you and jack look at your dad coming outside with ryan behind him.
“ill see you later. i hope your wrist is okay.” jack says his goodbyes and you, your brother, and dad head to the hospital.
the three of you got home late that night and sure enough, you broke your wrist. you had to get a cast later that week and it was very difficult to try and figure out how to go about your day with it on.
a knock sounds through your house and your dad answers it.
“y/n, there’s someone here for you!” you get off the couch where you were watching cartoons and head over to the door and see jack standing there with a bag of sharpies.
“i came to sign your cast,” he smiles and you look down at the white, barren cast with no signatures and you hold out your wrist to him. jack scrawls his name in big letters on your cast with a little doodle off hockey stick next to it, and your dad watches the small interaction with a smile on his face.
“jack, why don’t you tell your parents that they should come over tonight for dinner.” jack looks up at the sound of your father’s voice and nods, taking his bag of sharpies and heading back home.
this was the start to an amazing friendship.
***
ever since that day, jack and you have been inseparable. you two were like siamese twins. wherever one went, the other wasn’t far behind. he stuck with you throughout the awkwardness in middle school, which was peak jack & y/n.
the big question: did you ever see him as anything more than a best friend? not really. but jack? he was head over heels for you, and it only got worse in highschool.
jack knew it was stupid to have a crush on his best friend for this long, but look at you. you were his dream girl. he swore to himself that he would wait as long as he had to for you.
you were so supportive of his hockey career and came to every game you could attend. you would also support his brothers and he loved how you bonded with them like they were your own. you remembered everything he told you and you always threw him the best surprise parties for his birthday. you got along with his friends, and to be honest, they thought the two of you were a thing to begin with.
but a bonus? seeing you sport his jersey at every single hockey game. there was nothing more rewarding than seeing you cheering for him in the stands with that familiar hughes jersey. to top it off, you’d always wait for him after every game to give him his post-game hug.
“sweaty or not, hughes, i need my post-game hug.” was your go-to line and jack would be lying if he said he didn’t have it memorized. like the way he memorized how your eyes lit up when he’d come out the locker room. or the way your nose would scrunch up when he’d get his sweat on you. jack noticed everything about you.
fast forward to his draft day. you wet right by his side and you could sense the nerves radiating off of him. with quinn in the league, he felt like he had a lot to live up to. but when they called his name for the first overall pick, that all flew out the window.
***
both you and jack looked at each other with shocked faces and you both stood up, embracing the other in a hug. you weren’t even the one being drafted, but the moment still felt so surreal to you. the ringing in your ears had become louder and it felt like only you and jack were in the room.
you pull apart from the hug and place both hands on jack’s shoulders. tears were streaming down your face and you were wearing the biggest smile. jack swore that in that moment, nobody was more beautiful than you. his y/n. and that’s when reality set in with him. the girl he’s lived next to for most of his life, he’s be leaving soon. he wouldn’t get to see you every day. he wouldn’t get to take just a couple steps next to his house and already be at yours. no, you guys would be miles apart now.
he broke out of his thoughts and shoved them down, focusing on the present.
“i’m so proud of you, j.” he swiped the tears away from under your eyes and pressed a kiss to your forehead. he then gave the rest of his family hugs and walked to the stage to receive his devils’ jersey. the whole time he had his eyes focused on you. the fluorescent lighting above lit up your face just enough to make you look ethereal in his eyes, even more than you already did.
***
jack will say, his rookie year was tough. and even more so because he didn’t have you by his side at all. you were at boston, the school you’ve dreamed of going to and he couldn’t be more proud of you.
***
you had the hughes clan plus your dad and brother with you in your living room as you propped up your ipad and dialed jack, and on the second ring, he picked up.
“hey gorgeous.” he smiled from the other side
“woah j, your hair’s growing out.” you paused “please don’t say you’re getting a mullet.” everyone laughed and shook his head
“not these luscious locks. who’s with you?” you maneuver the ipad to show everyone with you and he says hi to everyone and they catch up for a bit before ellen nudges you.
“right.” you cough a bit and jack’s attention falls onto you and you hold up an envelope from boston university.
“is that?” you nod
“the answers lie in this envelope and i’m shaking so bad right now because oh my god jack, what if i don’t get in?” your rambling was always one of his favorite things about you.
“hey, whatever happens, happens. just know, it’ll all be okay, alright? you’re a smart girl, so boston would be stupid not to accept you.” you take a deep breath in and nod. ellen places a hand on your shoulder reassuringly.
“okay, here goes nothing.” you carefully tear open the envelope and pull out a piece of paper folded up into threes. you look back at jack and he nods encouragingly. you unfold the paper and begin to read it.
accepted
you drop the paper and look at jack, tears welling into your eyes.
“well?” he asks eagerly
“i got accepted!” you start to cry and jack’s smile widens.
“oh my god!” ellen’s the first to pull you into a hug and jack wishes nothing more than to be there right now, holding you in his arms.
“awh, jack’s crying.” luke says, and you pull away from the hug to look at the ipad in front of you. you sit back down and wipe at your eyes, softly smiling.
“don’t let your mascara run over me, j.” he laughs and looks up, then looking back at you.
“i’m so so proud and happy for you, y/n/n. more than you know.”
***
ever since college started for you though, communication hasn’t been the best between the two of you. you’ve both been so busy with your own things, and when you do talk, it’s not for very long.
however, when jack gets an invitation in the mail that says, “you’re invited to y/n l/n’s graduation!” he cancels anything he had planned on that date and he makes it his priority to be there.
***
jack wore one of his game day suits since the red would go well with the school colors and he makes the long drive to boston. he sees his mom’s familiar car and parks near it, getting out and making his way to look for his family and yours. once he spots them, due to luke’s tall head, he makes his way over.
“jack!” his mom is the first one to give him a hug and he smiles, hugging her back.
“hey ma, i missed you.”
“oh i missed you too sweetheart.” they pull apart and he says more hellos to the rest of his family, then taking his spot beside your brother. soon, the ceremony begins and when your name is called, everyone erupts into cheer. jack’s smile could not possibly get bigger than it is right now. you did it. you finally did it.
once everyone was called, the graduates were allowed to go to their families. you stood on a chair to look for the hughes’ and your dad and brother when you suddenly feel two arms wrap around your waist, twirling you around. you’re laughing and they set you down and you’re face-to-face with jack. you didn’t know if he’d be able to make it or not. and when did he get so muscly?
“oh my god. jack!” you jump into his arms and he laughs, holding you up. “you’re here. you’re really here.” you whisper and he places a kiss to the side of your head.
“i wouldn’t miss your graduation even if i was on my death bed. nothing is more important than watching you walk across that stage.” you sniffle and oh how you missed your best friend.
“i did it, j.”
“and i’m so proud of you, you hear me?” he sets you back down and pulls apart to look at you.
“i thought i was the only one that looks good in red, but i’m starting to think you proved me wrong.” you laugh and the sound is so melodic to jack’s ears. he needed to tell you how he felt soon, because seeing you right now is making his heart have palpitations.
***
since your graduation, you’ve moved to jersey and you teach first grade at one of the local elementary schools. jack was ecstatic when you told him you were moving to jersey. he even convinced you to buy a place near him. he even introduced you to his teammates. they all loved you, of course, and jack was glad to see you getting along with them.
he even bought you a hughes jersey and a ticket to the devil’s home opener. it was one thing to watch him play on your tv, but in person on the ice? even better.
that soon became a routine: go to every devil’s home game that you could and of course take pictures for your students to see.
fast forward to today. it was raining nonstop today and you had to have indoor recess for the kids, so you’d been stuck with them longer than usual, and you were starting to develop a headache. the odds just weren’t in your favor today.
as you were driving home, your tire went flat so you were stuck in the rain on the side of the road. so you call the only person you could think of.
“j, can you come pick me up? my tire went flat on the side of the road.”
in ten minutes, jack’s pulling up near your car and you get out and make your way to his passenger side. the car is a lot warmer compared to the outside temperature and you turn on your seat-warmer to hopefully help you a bit. in no time, he’s pulling up to your house and you get out without saying a word to him. you were tired and needed a nap and an advil.
“hey, what’s wrong?” he grabs your wrist before you can get inside and you shake your head. his headlights were beaming on the two of you and they were making your head hurt even more. the cold rain was also pelting down on the two of you and you hated the feeling of wet clothes.
“nothing. i’ve just had an awful day.” you release your wrist from his hold and walk up your front steps, putting the key in the door.
“i’m always here to listen, you know?”
“yes, jack, i know. but my head is killing me so i need to go lay down and get out of these wet clothes.”
“why won’t you talk to me? you used to tell me everything.” this set you over the edge and you turned around.
“jackson hughes, we’re grown adults now. we’re not the kids we used to be.”
“okay, but i’m your best friend.” you let out a frustrated sigh because you could not believe he was doing this right now.
“just go home, okay? we can talk about it tomorrow.”
“don’t you see it?” he says weakly
“quite frankly, i can’t see anything. there’s rain on my glasses. but enlighten me as to why you have me standing here in the pouring rain confused, rowden.” you used his middle name. you hardly ever did that.
“i’m in love with you, y/n! how blind are you? i’ve been so in love with you since the day you fell out your tree years ago when we were six. you’re all i think about before i go to sleep and when i wake up. and it’s been so hard to be your best friend all these years when all i want is nothing more than to be your boyfriend. lately you’ve been on my mind more than usual and when you- god, when you look at me with those eyes.
“i get lost. i forget where i’m at and i want to bask in that feeling forever. the feeling of just your eyes on me. like my draft day back in 2019 when it felt like we were the only two in the room. you’re the only person i’ve ever considered seeing myself with.”
you were rendered speechless. you cant lie and say that the thought of dating jack hadn’t crossed your mind before, because it has. it’s like the stars aligned because next thing you know, your feet are carrying you to jack and you attach your lips to his. he’s quick to reciprocate and you feel those metaphorical fireworks go off.
the two of you pull away and jack’s smiling wide.
“does this mean-” you cut him off and hit his shoulder, making him laugh.
“yes. now turn your car off and come inside where it’s warm.” he nods and you head inside, making your way to your bathroom to grab towels for the both of you.
“leave your shoes by the door!” you call out from your bedroom and jack makes his way to you, and you stick out some dry clothes to him.
“you can use the guest shower.” he nods and the two of you take your showers to better clean yourselves and change into the dry clothes.
later that night, you’re cuddled up on the couch together, going through a keepsake box you had (which was an old shoe box). you then pull out a card and both jack and you give each other a confused look. you open the card and gasp when you do. jack had a look of remembrance on his face as well and your heart melts at the memory.
***
you loved valentine’s day because it meant free candy and what seven year old doesn’t like free candy? the teacher let the girls pass out their valentines to the class first, and then the boys did theirs.
you were sitting at your desk, coloring away at a valentine’s day coloring sheet the teacher printed out for everyone, when a teddy bear, a card and some candy is placed in front of you. you set your fuchsia crayon down and look up to see jack standing there, face reddening.
“happy valentine’s day y/n.” he gave you his one-missing-tooth smile and you smiled back at him.
“thank you jack. i love it!”
***
“i should’ve seen the signs back then.” you trace your finger over jack’s first grade handwriting and softly smile, setting the card back in the box.
“whatever happened to that bear i got you?” you get up and walk into your bedroom, coming back out with the small, stuffed bear. jack gasps and you fondly smile at him.
“i couldn’t get rid of rowdy.”
“rowdy?” he quirks a brow at you and you nod
“named him after my favorite person ever.” jack pulls you into his side and kisses the side of your head.
he adored you more than anything in this world.

June 12th, 1988 the roads were closed off.
I have no idea why im still together with this asshole, why am i so stupid? oh because id do anything for people to love and not leave me. Looking at him now..hands beating the steering wheel, veins popping through his temples..not to mention his breath. Ashton my oh so loving, narcissist, no good boyfriend. We've been together for 6 years, basically high school sweethearts. Went from flirty glaces, to lab partners, to collage students with an alcohol addiction. Mainly his addiction...he got me started on it.
Ashton basically took me in with his fatherly like protectiveness when we first got together. He was walking me to my front door after a bowling date he asked me out to my sophomore year, of course i said yes.; until the front door opened. Uh oh, dads home; Bill. The moment the door opened i watched my father tackle Ashton to the ground without so much as a reason screaming words like "get off my property, boys like you should be dead in a gutter, ill kill you"...
Lets just say that date night was a bit too eventful for my liking.
My dad always had a problem with Ashton because he went to highschool with his father. Ashtons dad was a bully back in the day, made my dads life a living hell.. took everything away from him. the girl, the looks, the job..
Dave, Ashtons father, was caught making out with Shannon, my dads ex lover but also first love. Dave knew he had the upper hand when it came to getting the things he wanted. Hell, Shannon seduced him into it. Shannon was only with my dad for the money. Got knocked up but gave him the baby and ran away to be with his dad. As you can see I am that baby now today.
I made a promise to Ashton after sneaking him to my bedroom window that same night cleaning his wounds; that it was me and him against the world. He knew about me and my parents relationship. How my step-mother only has good things to say about me in a room full of people, but how she degrades me behind closed doors. How my dads drinking problem gave him alcohol poisoning, twice' and about his anger problems. You'd think being in a household that is always loud would help you shape up to loud sounds in the future. Boy was that theory proven wrong.
anytime someone yells or raises their tone, you're immediately in fight or flight response. tense..anxious. You hate going to basketball games just for that reason. Its uncomfortable.. and he knew that, but apparently in this moment, he didn't give a fuck-
"Did you hear me??" Ashton says impatiently. "No im sorry, i cant hear when you mumble.." you reply
you also hated when people uttered things under their breath.
dad does that shit.
"Don't be smart with me y/n, ill leave you right here, right now in the middle of the fucking road
"Yeah whatever Ashton, just stop talking to me and drive" feeling the breaks pull forward and in a flash he was out of the drivers seat, and already pulling you out of the passenger-
"WHAT THE FUCK" i yell- what the fuck are you doing Ashton?”
“Shut up!” he smacks me. Your eyes widen in more shock than fear over anything. “Did you j-just hit me?” i ask with a scratched voice--
“I told you more than once not to back talk me didnt i?”
“i didn’t.. it was once and i stopped ashton”-
-“You’ve done it all goddamn night, accusing me of cheating, clinging onto me when i ran into Tommy, i told you to give me some fucking space --i interrupt him.
“YOU did cheat on me you asshole!! That bitch was fucking bragging about it in the bathroom”—
“Do you really think after what 4 years-“6 actually“ i say pissing him off further. he looks at you angrily
He sighs. “Do you really think after years of being together, i would do that to you?” he say looking down at the ground sadly; making you instatly regret your words
“..no-no of course not i just thou”-
-“You thought wrong! he snaps-I would never do that to you baby..y/n?” he says letting go of the grip on my arms, caressing my cheek-“..I know you get a little confused sometimes, its okay come here” he says pulling you into a deep hug
“..im sorry ash”-
“shh” he coos.
“I really thought—what the fuck is that?” you shove him away
“Y-you piece of shit!!” you pull around back collar piece of his shirt up to his face; showing him the peach colored lipstick stain
“Are you fucking serious Ashton?” his eyes widen and stomach drops when he sees the prominent evidence of his past events—
“B-baby look-“
“No! fuck you were done!”
He grabs me closer, “No we fucking arent- ive gave you everything! he starts shouting making you flinch
P-please stop yelling at me! you plea tears rolling down your face
“Just—here” he opens the car door “just get back in and ill explain on the way”—
“No.” you shove past him running and crying
“Y/N come back here!. its too dark—
“ i dont care leave me alone!”
“Y/n theres crazy people out here..!”
you stop in your tracks, turning back to say- “You’re the crazy person!”
he laughs. “Oh im crazy? Ill show you fuckin crazy”—he says marching over to the drivers side of the car starting it back up—mumbling ill show you a fucking crazy person babe—and he spees off
you cant believe he actually just left you.. standing here.
“ASSHOLE!” you shout regulardess if hes still there or not, turning back around to walk down the cold empty road
are you fuckig kidding me?
wow he fooled me
how didnt i see this before
did he love me?
he says he does
then why did he leave me..
fucking jerk!!
The long 7 mile walk with a head full of shitty thoughts walk you to a sun burnt orange barn.
you're exhausted. your hearts broken. your feet hurt. its too dark to keep walking
"I mean i could crash here right?" you say already walking towards the musky building
hay bells, chickens, tools. looks already owned
you dont care you just need a place to rest you head for a bit.
stinks in here. muttering to yourself, opening and shutting the barn door behind you.
perfect you say spotting an old rocking chair..and yard sale signs?
does somebody live here?
you're too exhausted to think any more tonight
this'll do. taking your jacket off to use as a prop pillow, climbing into the chair almost immediately drifting off.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
whats that smell? smells like bacon?
bacon? your eyes are still shut but you can sense a different environment around you. Fluttering your eyes open.. a clock? pictures? what?-jumping up at the sound of a shoe
"WHO ARE YOU?" your already in flight or fight mode
"Whoa whoa its okay, im the owner of the barn i found you in”.
is he lying?
"YOU'RE LYING!" you look around in a panic
"Sweetheart if i was lying, how come i specifically found you in my rocking chair, you must of been tired, i got my buddy who also runs the farm to scoop you up and bring you to our guest bedroom, couldn't just leave a woman out in the open like that.. especially at night"
your stomach knots when he calls you sweetheart.
okay maybe he harmless, just very kindly harmless?
"Here" he throws his arm out, "I'm Eddie, Eddie Munson."
